[850.03] Jack: guys and they sent it to me no problem we've opened i bought five we've used three four now
[856.91] Jack: is it so far never had a problem with any of them he didn't pull anything out no we're all right so
[863.07] Jack: yeah you you broke a motor you get bad vibration issues we fitted that motor cut the uh trim the
[869.87] Jack: leads didn't um go through any of the the windings because we i've measured and made sure that we're
[877.15] Jack: using the correct length screws fitted it so all we've done is trimmed the wire which you're
[882.67] Jack: expected to do anyway solder it to the solder it and it runs but it gets red hot boiling didn't it
[890.27] Jack: yeah so the cobra motor is a total defective one there's no there's no windings that have got
[895.63] Jack: damaged i wrote a nice email back to them saying look i've got a dud one um claims that cobra
[903.23] Jack: checks every single motor whatever i don't think so that's totally unreasonable maybe that's why
[909.63] Jack: it takes them so long to manufacture and when when you order them but no so uh cut long story short
[916.67] Jack: float ship can't replace it because i've trimmed the wires so what you're supposed to do wrap it
[924.11] Jack: around the arm yeah that's it i'm gonna just have wire flapping around so the prop can so we're
[929.95] Jack: cutting we're cutting float ship yeah um i'm really disappointed i just don't want to pull out the by the

[1349.87] Dom: four races up you could put them all in although we we won't have that ability because of the
[1354.03] Dom: frequencies we're going to have two sets of racebands outside and two we're going to keep back for the
[1359.31] Dom: indoor neon room so anyone who turns up with a quad with raceband on if they get into one of the
[1364.35] Dom: two the two indoor frequencies they can fly around might be possible to pick those up at the
[1369.07] Dom: production tent in which case we can feed them out on the screen as well when we get nice
[1373.15] Tony: pictures so uh we just keep that screen busy so i've got um hdmi out on my phantom controller so

[1388.59] Dom: that somebody kind will have a uh a you know a receiver that they can just plug into the desk
[1393.79] Dom: and we'll have two raceband groups or two racebands whatever thomas is going to sort it out on
[1398.59] Dom: the airfield um which anyone on the airfield will need to be in one or two one of the two
[1403.39] Dom: of and the display team will be small enough that you can all communicate to keep the airfield
[1407.39] Dom: busy all the time and then it's up to everyone to come up with some challenges so we're going
[1412.03] Dom: to try and fly some hoops at about 40 foot with some heady kites helium heady kites and
[1417.71] Dom: hang some flags as well so there's a nice high route to zip round cool and uh both i think i'm
[1425.15] Dom: not putting my foot in it by because i know fabiana and martina in the chat room but i think those
[1430.91] Dom: guys are up for fielding some kit um so we have pairs of machines or or multiple machines which
[1438.27] Dom: are identical so we can actually get different you know see how different pilots perform with
[1443.79] Dom: with with identical machines and also equally same pilot are flying two different machines one
[1450.03] Dom: from each vendor or one from different vendors and stuff so you can see how uh how how you know
[1456.59] Dom: and then fraser will be on the airfield with the radio might link back to let's drone out
[1460.59] Dom: so you walk up to the pilots and talk about the quads that they're flying and stuff as well so

[1721.31] Dom: and invested in the kickstarter project which was kickstarter to run away big success which then
[1725.39] Dom: went embarrassingly wrong and they commissioned a journalist to write a fairly objective i think
[1732.43] Dom: very objective analysis of what went on to report back to both kickstarter and the community and
[1738.83] Dom: to be critical of kickstarter as well and i got a link yesterday because i was an investor i got
[1744.43] Dom: a sort of pre pre publicity link um which uh which was incredibly long it took me about an hour to read
[1753.47] Dom: it um very detailed breakdown of what happened with it but to be honest i think they were just
[1758.51] Dom: unlucky i think they overstretched it they were that little pod you were talking about
[1763.39] Dom: did you see the zano it was this tiny little thing the size of a hubs and when i like a
[1767.71] Dom: hubs and uh you know x4 type size but it was packed with the same sort of feature list that
[1774.83] Dom: you'd expect on a phantom so it was you know follow me hold um leveled video uh you know
[1786.43] Dom: yeah very small and wi-fi controlled off the phone as well so it was very portable
[1791.71] Dom: deny massive and uh it talked about how you know they bit off more than they could chew
[1797.15] Dom: if you look at it it's really interesting now i know a bit more about it if you look at it it's got
[1800.91] Dom: too little it's either got a cc 3d or a naza in it it's got those whatever that size of board it's
[1806.51] Dom: it's actually that shape at a 45 degree angle um and i think he just sort of started tinkering
[1812.51] Dom: with that eight and 18 months in realized that there was a shed load of stuff to get something
[1818.03] Dom: to fly well and uh drowned and then they but by then they'd got an order for 15 000 units
[1824.51] Dom: and basically negotiated with wales to build a factory and it was all this
[1829.31] Dom: huge pressure on them to deliver and they hadn't got the core technology right oh dear oh no i
[1835.79] Tony: remember seeing that and thinking i don't think that little thing they're gonna be able to do
[1839.95] Tony: that in such a small amount of time in such a small little machine i don't know i i'm i'm
[1847.31] Dom: of your impression it actually has every time you work out one of the modules that plugs into another
[1852.11] Dom: circuit board it's just as quick to go oh well if we can make two thousand or twenty thousand or
[1856.75] Dom: a hundred thousand of them we'll just make that into one circuit board and miniaturize it and
[1860.91] Dom: then you eventually get those down into a sort of semiconductor level i think you can do that in
[1865.71] Dom: if you've got fabrication and and the money like the the knowledge of the
[1871.55] Dom: orders i think you can probably do that in they had the money though didn't they
[1876.03] Dom: a zano did yeah and i think if you put that money into the fabrication in
[1879.47] Dom: china or wherever you do it i think you can turn those cycles around quite quickly but um but i
[1885.15] Dom: think the um the problem was they didn't have the core design work right so you couldn't
[1890.43] Dom: well whatever they were miniaturizing was going to fail what else is going on in the chat there's
[1894.83] Jack: a kickstarter um new kickstarter power has back and fbv racer paper plane yeah i saw that it's like
[1907.95] Jack: a little weird um little motor you and it's like a giant it looks like a long paper clip and you
[1915.47] Jack: slide it into a paper airplane and it radio controls i did a kickstarter one of those

[1972.11] Jack: good way of i think crowdsourcing's a fantastic thing really when it works kind of it's kind of
[1978.75] Dom: what we're doing with the ticket money that we're selling for the air show that's a crap i'm looking
[1983.63] Dom: at that very much as crowdfunding some money to go on a very expensive flight to somewhere like hawaii
[1990.67] Dom: to represent the uk and you you can do that through commercial sponsorship if the racing
[1995.71] Dom: community is turning over that much money but at the moment it's too small so actually
[1999.55] Dom: crowdsourcing a bit of money to get a core team out is i think a cool way of doing it well thank
