[220.3] Skitzo Davis: Yeah because I don't know you know there's a lot of times where we're just kind of driving around
[227.58] Skitzo Davis: and hanging out and then we'll see a spot that looks really cool. We might get kicked out or
[232.46] Skitzo Davis: you know there might be people around or something so we we kind of like wait until there's that
[237.98] Skitzo Davis: opportune moment. We just kind of jump out of the car you know hit it for like a minute bring

[438.67] Skitzo Davis: shot for the scene so I went out and bought a DJI Phantom and um then I actually came across the
[445.23] Skitzo Davis: metal or I came across the blackout guys. I came across metal Danny flying through the woods uh
[450.91] Skitzo Davis: in his blackout 330 on YouTube and that was it like I just I craigslist and sold everything
[457.31] Skitzo Davis: and then never looked back. Nice. Wow. I thought you're gonna say you actually met him in the woods
[463.31] Skitzo Davis: filming your horror movie. Oh that would be amazing. That would be way better. That would be
[468.83] Jack: an actual horror movie because nothing there's nothing more than scary than the disturbing and

[576.35] Skitzo Davis: they'll kind of plan it out you know like oh I'm gonna do this through here and I'm gonna fly over
[580.83] Skitzo Davis: that and they have like this battle plan. I don't I don't really do that I just kind of like you know
[585.95] Skitzo Davis: go up and wing it you know and it somehow works out. Yeah so no I don't I don't have any kind of
[591.79] Skitzo Davis: plan or any kind of it just happens. You are more freestyle than the freestyle people.

[604.51] Jack: with black box or are you tuning just so it gets you that smooth feeling and like are you
[612.43] Jack: you know are you adjusting your you know your P's like lower than most people's or how are you
[617.71] Jack: setting up your quad? What's different from yours to say someone like Steel or something?
[624.03] Jack: Uh yeah he is the guy from the mummy that is hilarious. I know that's that's the mummy guy
[629.07] Skitzo Davis: and that he every time I see metal Danny now I think of the mummy I'm sorry yeah just it has to
[634.43] Skitzo Davis: happen. Um tune our tunes are usually the same whenever I have seen Steel's tune and stuff like
[642.88] Skitzo Davis: that. I think it's more my flying style is just weird like how I how I actually fly and uh
[650.56] Skitzo Davis: so I actually fly with people expect because I fly so smooth that I'm on like really high expo
[656.64] Skitzo Davis: or something like that but um I actually fly pretty low expo on kids fly controller I fly with zero
[662.72] Skitzo Davis: um expo curve so but uh anyway I fly with like with low expo and really high rates but I just
[670.96] Skitzo Davis: barely move the sticks if that makes sense. My sticks never go beyond like half gimbal you know
[678.0] Jack: so. Do you find Taranis? Yeah. Have you still got the uh phantom?
[686.08] Skitzo Davis: Uh no I sold it like I don't know the the next day after I saw the mini quad stuff.
[692.88] Jack: Yeah like Blackout was the the frame to go for at one point wasn't it really?
[698.64] Skitzo Davis: Oh yeah I tried to get one for a while I mean they were always sold out you know.

[708.32] Jack: change out the plastic standoff some metal ones or how did you rock it? I ran for a while I ran
[716.24] Skitzo Davis: the nylon standoffs and the nylon you know how it came with nylon bolts too? Yeah yeah totally
[722.0] Skitzo Davis: though a nightmare because the problem with that is if you crashed it just like sheared off every
[726.32] Skitzo Davis: time right so uh what I did is I actually kept the nylon standoffs but I ran the aluminum bolts
[732.8] Skitzo Davis: as opposed to the nylon and that worked pretty well. Yeah fair enough. Have you been working
[738.4] Jack: on any other products? Have you got your own color of props and motors in the you know and stuff
[744.4] Jack: like that? Do you want to promote anything about that? Um no but I have been like having really
[752.4] Skitzo Davis: cool ideas of a frame. I would like to come out with my own frame eventually but I don't know
[757.44] Jack: when that will happen or if it will. Oh you might it might be the good the good rumor right about now.

[839.12] Skitzo: Did you fly right straight away or horizon and angle first? I flew I think angle mode actually
[847.12] Skitzo Davis: for the for about a month. Wow. And and then Steel you know Steel when I met Steel he had been flying
[853.6] Skitzo Davis: for a little while he's got about six months on me. So. Well he's hell he's first. Yeah but I mean
[861.28] Skitzo Davis: at this time he had been flying quads for a while before I did and so I came you know I met him and
[866.64] Skitzo Davis: he's like dude you know after we flew together for like a month he was like you need to fly rate
[871.84] Skitzo Davis: mode you know you need to try out manual mode and I was like all right fine and I was so bad at it
[877.04] Skitzo Davis: like it was almost like you know a kid riding a bike on training wheels and then you take off
[882.48] Skitzo Davis: the training wheels and you just explode over and over again just like keep wiping it out. Yeah it
[886.72] Skitzo Davis: was bad. Oh man. And then uh and then it just like clicked you know what I mean like it was
[892.08] Skitzo Davis: something that I was really struggling with for like a week or so and then all of a sudden I
[897.28] Skitzo: just didn't think about it anymore. Yeah you just get that muscle memory don't you? Yeah yeah
[903.2] Skitzo Davis: basically. Yeah it's good. And uh I kind of wish that I just started out on rate mode but I you
[909.44] Skitzo Davis: probably would blow up a lot more props you know. It is. There is something to be said about both I
[916.56] Skitzo Davis: mean if you start off in rate mode you're going to crash a lot more it might be more discouraging
[920.8] Skitzo Davis: versus starting off in angle mode at least you have like something you know somewhat successful
[924.72] Skitzo Davis: flights and you're not exploding props all the time so. And it gives you. I don't know you're
[929.36] Skitzo Davis: either going to crash a lot one way and learn faster or you're going to you know yeah do the
[934.56] Skitzo: basic stuff. Excuse me I think if I would have started in Acro I would have probably given up.
[940.56] Skitzo: That's my personal thing I would have just gone. I hear from a lot of people they're like oh
[945.12] Skitzo Davis: you know start in rate mode don't even fool around with you know stabilization at all and I
[949.92] Skitzo Davis: don't know if I really agree with that as well I think it would be because you know at least when
[955.28] Skitzo Davis: I started it was 3S there was zero information on the internet about anything you were literally
[960.88] Skitzo Davis: on your own and like let alone crashing and breaking stuff all the time yeah it would have
[965.68] Adam: been very discouraging. Yeah and how many of those people do you think is the rate mode?
[970.4] Adam: No. There are people who've been around for a bit they probably started you know same and then
[976.56] Adam: they're just trying to make make it harder for other people to join. Yeah. It's easier to learn
[981.6] Skitzo Davis: in steps. Yeah I mean this hobby right now is not really that you know user friendly I mean there
[989.04] Skitzo Davis: is a wealth of information you can find now but it's still you know if you're not buying something
[994.8] Skitzo Davis: that's ready to fly I mean there's a lot of stuff you need to learn you gotta learn how to solder
[998.4] Jack: and you know. Or learn how to solder. Sorry dude. Sorry shots fired. Sorry bits. Yeah so he goes

[1056.08] Jack: I think that it will give you the confidence enjoyment and get you used to being high low
[1061.76] Jack: in the air. It can also teach you how far you should be off the ground you know for a close
[1069.28] Skitzo Davis: flash. I think that it's gonna you probably won't advance as fast like if you're someone that is
[1076.16] Skitzo Davis: very hardcore and really wants to learn and be like a top you know top pilot or whatever you
[1081.92] Skitzo Davis: know there's those impatient people. You might want to start out of rate mode if you've got the
[1086.16] Skitzo Davis: money and you've got the you know tolerance to crashing all the time because that's what I did
[1090.16] Skitzo Davis: with airplanes. I crashed a lot of airplanes to finally but I learned very flat fast you know
[1095.6] Skitzo Davis: within a month I'm flying with like a lot of the top pilots out there. Yeah so but I crashed a lot
[1100.88] Skitzo Davis: right it cost a lot of money and it's very frustrating so you got to push yourself. Yeah
[1106.96] Jack: FPV formula says sims do that learn without busting props but I always think gravity is kind of off.
[1114.8] Skitzo Davis: Yeah but I've never I've never had found a simulator that feels like real life at all.
[1119.28] Skitzo Davis: I mean yeah you can get like you know the general feel of it there but it's not going to behave the
[1124.72] Jack: same. Also the the other side of it for me the hardest point of flying because I went on horizon
[1135.04] Jack: mode for a while and the hardest point of flying rate for me was realizing that you didn't have to
[1142.24] Jack: return to level to stay in the air. It doesn't matter you can be at a sort of like 45 degree
[1149.6] Jack: roll and it will just stay in the air like and especially air mode trying to trying to explain
[1156.56] Jack: to someone how air mode feels using only words. It's quite it's really difficult you know you
[1166.08] Jack: can explain like you know the the motors don't stop the PID loop doesn't stop it keeps you it
[1171.28] Jack: kind of gives you like bullet time but we call it hang time and you're still in full control. It
[1177.44] Jack: just sounds ridiculous yeah that's the only way I can explain it to like newbies you know. Yeah
[1186.56] Adam: that's it bullet time newbies newbies probably can't remember the mate
[1191.2] Adam: I'm just thinking all those kids you know um like Manister yeah when it how old was he when the
[1197.6] Adam: matrices came out he was probably not even conceived. Well he's only 10 years later at
[1202.72] Adam: in primary school. Yeah in primary school did you actually related to school? Well not in primary
[1210.08] Jack: school but we're not at the time I was in primary school. When did it come out? Sorry I don't know.

[1336.46] Jack: doing the three yeah the the freestyle through there can you tell us a little bit about that

[1351.09] Skitzo Davis: probably one of the coolest yeah that was probably one of the highlights of my you know
[1355.81] Skitzo Davis: FPV career just because I got that was when I got to meet everybody you know because I I I only fly
[1363.09] Skitzo Davis: out of Atlanta I'm not like a big traveler I like to I'm like I'm homebody so I was never able to
[1368.61] Skitzo Davis: meet anybody until you know we had it we had the big that competition was here right like in my
[1373.25] Skitzo Davis: hometown so uh you know that was when I got to meet Carlos I got to meet Sharpeu I got to meet
[1378.61] Skitzo Davis: Chad for the first time I got to meet all these pilots that I looked up to for so many you know
[1383.41] Jack: Alex and flight test were you a flight test guy what got you into this man like you know that's
[1388.69] Jack: what because like for me it was flight test you know like what kind of got you uh well that that
[1395.01] Skitzo Davis: was really cool because I got to meet them too because I I had you know when I start first started
[1399.57] Skitzo Davis: flying I would I would always watch white flight tests uh and stuff you know because they were
[1405.33] Skitzo Davis: really the only like prominent like RC you know channel around I guess like I used to watch Bruce
[1412.05] Jack: you know the RC model review guy Bruce Simpson man we love Bruce yeah we really want him on man
[1418.45] Skitzo Davis: if you got a contact he's great I just so I used to watch him and I used to watch flight tests and
[1423.81] Skitzo Davis: there was also this uh I want to say he's an Indian guy his name's like Al Shyamalo or man you
[1431.01] Jack: know I am Shyamalo yeah I know the guy he's all about the phantoms though and stuff man I
[1439.25] Skitzo Davis: never dug him like you know okay well I used to watch all three of them in terms of like that
[1445.09] Skitzo Davis: was my when I would get home from flying or crashing or whatever I would get home and those
[1449.01] Skitzo Davis: are the channels I would watch because I wasn't I didn't really know anyone this is you know I
[1452.45] Skitzo Davis: didn't really know much about like there's the blackout guys right who there who is like these
[1456.85] Skitzo Davis: like these like rogue pilots that nobody knows anything about and can't get a hold of them but
[1461.73] Skitzo Davis: they they're posting these crazy videos yeah so Boris as well Boris was early yeah well Boris
[1468.05] Skitzo Davis: was a part of black so yeah seven E man exactly so that that was it and I watched the little TBS
[1474.69] Skitzo Davis: stuff too you know but that was about it that was about it that was like the that was what there
[1479.25] Skitzo Davis: was to watch it's kind of like being a kid back in like the 30s and there's only two channels
[1483.57] Skitzo Davis: on television you know whatever so it was a really dark time when I mean it was a really
[1490.93] Skitzo Davis: cool fascinating time but it was also so I don't know mysterious you know what I mean yeah so
[1498.53] Skitzo Davis: so that's where I met flight test and I was just geeking out because I finally got to meet Josh
[1502.77] Skitzo Davis: from fight tests and Peter and Alex and uh and I and and I remember the first thing I thought
[1508.45] Skitzo Davis: about Josh is okay there's something wrong with this guy there's something there's something up
