Chad Nowak is the apple of the eye of the storm of the century this week

[1.62] Jack: Let's drone out.
[3.82] Adam: This episode is sponsored by Radio C for all your drone related needs, home of the drone labs batteries.
[14.98] Jack: Hello and welcome to Let's Drone Out. I'm joined by the wonderful Tony. What's up, time's the one. Frank.
[23.26] Jack: Hello.
[24.78] Jack: Adam. Hello.
[27.78] Jack: And none other than the Radio Act here, final glide.
[30.74] Jack: Ow!
[37.08] Tony: You are actually Radio Active, aren't you?
[40.2] Chad N: Well, yeah, I
[42.04] Chad N: Technically, I guess probably it hasn't given me any extra powers though. That was like I was very much hoping going over to Pripyat and
[49.44] Chad N: Chernobyl. I was gonna come back like say Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. So I was gonna be a hero in a half shell.
[54.28] Chad N: I was gonna be a ride skateboards and I was gonna have Katana on my back and do ninja stuff.
[58.8] Adam: But none of that. And your best friend was gonna be a rat.
[61.64] Chad N: Yeah, exactly. Yeah, I am actually busy bitterly disappointed with that.
[65.56] Chad N: So all the only thing that happened was I just got radioactive dirt on me.
[69.68] Chad N: So yeah, and don't get anyone pregnant.
[74.88] Chad N: That's probably not gonna happen now. That's the way radioactivity works. Yeah, I suppose. I know.
[80.52] Jack: Like mutant babies. Yeah, well should be out to congratulations on your win, by the way, a little
[87.36] Chad N: Yeah, currently I'm just
[91.52] Chad N: Basically relaxing after the Nationals. I'm here for about a week at Steel Davis's house, Mr. Steel
[97.92] Chad N: And I've got Ethan Gullnak also known as High Flight FPV here, and we're just basically
[104.68] Chad N: relaxing and
[106.12] Chad N: Enjoying ourselves. We were gonna have Johnny FPV here as well. I'm gonna be all four of us
[110.64] Chad N: just relaxing and getting away from the bullshit, but
[114.56] Chad N: Johnny had to head over to Korea for a race over there. So
[119.6] Chad N: Yeah, hope he does well, but we're just basically getting away from the old relaxing
[123.16] Adam: So I see yeah first person I've ever met who thinks that hanging around with us for an hour is gonna be getting away from
[131.4] Chad N: That's that's what I said, I was trying to get away from bullshit and then you guys rang and asked if I could go
[138.08] Chad N: You can't have everything but it's a good start
[140.56] Tony: We're sorry
[142.4] Jack: No, I did speaking speaking of bullshit. I'll just lower the tone for a little bit
[147.36] Jack: I did I did see your post about complaining about everyone being windy little bitches and
[154.16] Jack: Yeah, it's a shame. It's like what the hell has happened to the hobby
[159.24] Chad N: I've got to be perfectly honest in that
[162.76] Chad N: Every single bigger competition that I go to I get a little bit more
[167.8] Chad N: Disenchanted with this whole competition scene. There's very few
[171.4] Chad N: Comps that I've walked away with with a positive tone and that's nothing against the pilots that I've flown against
[177.04] Chad N: When I go there and actually fly against the pilots the pilots themselves
[181.16] Chad N: Are actually really well behaved and you have a really good experience in this a lot of camaraderie there
[185.84] Chad N: The problem is the egotistical keyboard worry about that goes on afterwards that I mean
[193.4] Chad N: It's stupid and it doesn't need to happen
[195.84] Chad N: Everyone's got an opinion, but you don't need to get personal
[199.6] Chad N: You don't need to get into arguments say a little bit and then move on and I mean
[203.92] Chad N: How long has this been going on for now? And there's so much stuff and bullshit we're talking about
[208.64] Chad N: uh, and basically what ends up happening is we're all in fighting when we really should be pointing the finger towards the
[215.96] Chad N: The competition organizers who let's face it are entrepreneurs that don't fly
[221.52] Chad N: Don't have an interest in about in much of the hobby and there are any real reason for being involved in it is because they
[227.56] Chad N: want to get do their get get rich quick scheme and
[230.48] Chad N: And make some money from it and benefit and retire and then and then leave us to our own devices now
[236.08] Chad N: That's not every single competition director and racing organizer that organization out there
[241.16] Chad N: but they all have a similar core goal and I do think that as pilots where we're concentrating on the wrong evil and
[249.36] Chad N: Fighting amongst ourselves is only going to make things more stupid
[252.6] Chad N: And I've already said a number of times when things be stopped becoming fun
[256.48] Chad N: That's when I walk away from the competition scene and to be honest it gets a little bit closer every single time
[260.88] Chad N: I go to one of these comps. It's frustrating. I totally
[265.4] Chad N: Totally here. Yeah, it's stupid and I'll put it out there that in general
[271.56] Chad N: America sucks at running competitions
[273.48] Chad N: I see you Europeans over there and English the English side that you guys seem to have a lot more success at running competitions
[281.0] Chad N: I don't know whether or not it's because you're running smaller competitions or whatever
[284.2] Chad N: But I mean so many of the competitions over here in America are a complete cluster
[288.28] Chad N: If I have to be typically honest and you walk away going what the hell happened?
[294.08] Chad N: When I see other organizations being successful at it now, I'm not saying that's all of them like dr
[300.76] Chad N: One the deal one invitational event. We went to recently was very I would consider successful
[306.48] Chad N: I know some people complain about the live feed but anyone who's watched the TV show afterwards. I'm sure you'll agree was pretty damn good and
[314.08] Chad N: The racing itself was fantastic really well one and the pilots who looked after on top of that
[319.48] Chad N: I'd also say that or get racing organizations like multi GP where it's down at the grassroots level community kind of thing
[326.2] Chad N: Chris who's in charge of multi GP does a really really good job
[330.76] Chad N: The rest of the organizations I've always been told if I can't say something nice about them then don't say anything else
[337.36] Chad N: Anything at all. So I think that's best to leave it at that. But I mean, that's a shame
[341.16] Adam: They'll never learn unless somebody says something about them. Yeah
[346.6] Jack: Dangerous I am well aware. We're in dangerous territory right about now
[350.68] Adam: The only thing it's a very very clear point there when you say
[355.36] Adam: Entrepreneurs who have no interest in the hobby who see all the press and PR and that and that
[361.32] Adam: Those sorts of people, you know, they swoop in they want to do something set something up sell it and beyond and the
[368.92] Adam: Competitions that do better are the things that are organized by people who have always been interested in the hobby and still will be
[375.08] Adam: Interested in the hobby and we need more people like that
[378.72] Chad N: Well, I don't really think I should say too much more about it
[381.68] Chad N: but I'll give you a case in point at the reason drone Nationals
[384.92] Chad N: 2016 after day two when it was turning into a complete another class and people were yelling at one know it because no one knew
[390.96] Chad N: What the hell was going on the one person who is in charge of it and is the face of the drone Nationals?
[396.72] Chad N: 2016 instead of actually being having his feet on the ground actually in amongst that and trying to make it work
[402.56] Chad N: He was sitting in the VIP tent which was designed primarily for the sponsors
[406.36] Chad N: Which the pilots weren't allowed to be in and it was sitting there cupping all the testicles of the sponsors trying to get more money
[411.68] Chad N: Out of them now that shows you once and for all exactly how important the pilots are in the scheme of things
[417.48] Chad N: And I think that needs to be taken note of very very seriously, and I think it's honestly quite pathetic
[423.24] Adam: It also shows you how closely testicles are linked to wallets
[427.08] Chad N: Exactly. Yep
[428.64] Chad N: But I've said enough on that because they're probably going to get lots of hate from what I've said already
[432.28] Chad N: But I just wanted to be perfectly honest and real about that that
[435.6] Chad N: I think we need to start fighting amongst ourselves and actually directing out our attention towards those that are making these experiences bad
[442.92] Adam: It's very easy to say hateful things, but I think we all know there's an element of truth in it. Yep
[448.12] Jack: Yeah, poor poor Tony's felt the raft of the exploits
[452.76] Jack: So oh well
[455.72] Chad N: It's all fun. Yeah, it's true. Oh
[459.0] Jack: Well, can we just find out why steel shouted out liar?
[464.0] Jack: Just just to clear it up to make sure that I thought you said
[468.76] Jack: No, you said liar
[471.04] Jack: Dryer
[472.52] Jack: Don't know shall we find out do you care?
[475.64] Chad N: Well officially steals a dick. So that needs to be taken into context. Yeah, of course. Yeah
[483.2] Chad N: Officially has it been certified? Yeah, and he is currently wearing a shirt that says I love balls
[493.56] Jack: I'm guessing you can hear you. I
[497.72] Jack: Suppose I suppose he's not buying
[503.56] Jack: Steel smarter than that. We've learned after a while
[507.08] Jack: so how was
[511.05] Chad N: Chernobyl, yeah, let's get back to the Ukrainian trip. Let's get let's get back to the fun stuff the real stuff
[517.41] Chad N: Chernobyl the whole Ukraine trip was a very interesting trip. I actually had no expectations at all like
[524.93] Chad N: This whole trip really was steals idea. He's wanted to go to Chernobyl and visit there for a really long time and he basically
[531.97] Chad N: just
[534.29] Chad N: What basically happens is someone will have a stupid idea within Rotor riot and then Chad kappa will go
[540.73] Chad N: You know what?
[541.65] Chad N: That's a stupid idea
[542.85] Chad N: Let's do it and that's what kind of happened here and within the very short space
[546.37] Chad N: We found a tour operator to Chernobyl that said that they'd love to help us out and be involved and instead of came from
[553.53] Chad N: It changed from a stupid idea to a actually a pretty good idea in a very short space of time
[559.13] Chad N: So that's usually how it all works
[560.81] Chad N: But yeah, we went over there and I was very concerned to begin with because of course, okay
[565.53] Chad N: You've got part of the country which is radioactive and then another part of the country, which is a war and I thought okay
[571.81] Chad N: So this no-name weirdo flying toys, that's not exactly a great place for me to go visit
[576.93] Chad N: But we were very lucky within the Rotor riot company itself that someone within there who's actually
[583.57] Chad N: has
[584.89] Chad N: He's from Ukraine
[587.01] Chad N: and speaks all of the language very fluently and then understands it on so he became basically the
[594.41] Chad N: the the organizer of all this and terms of getting visas and getting local support and of course you can't just rock up there you've
[601.21] Chad N: like I had to get a visa and you had to get an invitation into the country and
[605.41] Chad N: We had to write out a hope of information about what gear we were bringing in before customs
[609.77] Chad N: It's all very tight starts. So we had to cross our teas and dot our eyes
[613.65] Chad N: So it was all kind of strange. I really didn't know what to expect and that was very apprehensive
[618.25] Adam: But how do you describe a quad when you're describing it, you know on that paperwork?
[623.77] Chad N: Do you say it's an economy military recon device? I know I would say that's a bad idea person
[631.89] Chad N: We have a market for a few we well we called it a drone
[638.65] Chad N: So, yeah, we got there and I was actually extremely surprised by the whole country like
[644.97] Chad N: Kiev where the city where we stay the the capital city is a beautiful city
[649.93] Chad N: The people they're beautiful welcoming friendly people
[653.93] Chad N: Of course, the exchange rate is just crazy
[657.49] Chad N: So one American dollar is 25 of theirs. So
[662.09] Chad N: Everything's very very cheap and affordable. But I mean I had an amazing time
[666.61] Chad N: They're just meeting the local people to meet local culture the local food
[670.21] Chad N: It was a very eye-opening experience and we also got to meet the the local quad racing community there
[675.97] Chad N: And they're very much struggling because they're they're having trouble getting
[680.49] Chad N: Product into the country through customs. So they're having a really hard time and one of our goals was okay
[686.25] Chad N: We're going to go over there and have a trip over there
[688.25] Chad N: But how can we help the community over there?
[690.57] Chad N: and what we tried to do is highlight the the the racing community and basically just the
[696.21] Chad N: FPV community over there as much as we could on the media so that
[700.41] Chad N: Hopefully we could help to make it easier for them to get product into the company into the country because they really do struggle with
[707.53] Chad N: That so I don't know whether we have made a difference, but that's that was our intent
[712.25] Chad N: We wanted to do a put a good light on there
[714.01] Chad N: So we met the local community there and they were fantastic. They got some really good pilots there as well
[719.77] Chad N: so all that was amazing, but of course the the thing that everyone's thinking of is going and visiting Chernobyl and
[727.97] Chad N: Anyone who's seen any of like my first video that I put out and also steals put some vlogs out there as well
[735.89] Chad N: We'll probably maybe try to appreciate
[739.25] Chad N: how much
[741.09] Chad N: Of an emotional experience. It is just visiting there
[744.41] Chad N: I've watched so many documentaries on Chernobyl and I've seen it all but you simply cannot grasp the size and
[754.61] Chad N: Magnitude is the word you're looking for. Yeah the magnitude of exactly what happened there. It's
[760.89] Chad N: Life just stops. Yeah, it's scary
[764.29] Chad N: it's it's crazy because you drive into Pripyat and
[768.33] Chad N: It looks it literally just looks like a really lush forest
[772.77] Chad N: It doesn't look like a city because you've got where they used to be grass. There's 30 40 foot trees
[779.49] Chad N: Really closely packed and Mother Nature is taking over. So
[783.33] Chad N: You see the odd like 20 story buildings sticking out of the sticking out of the out of the forest
[789.01] Chad N: But it doesn't look that big and it's not until that first moment that you take off in your minicord and you get above
[795.61] Chad N: the horizon and you actually see the scope of the
[799.61] Chad N: Disaster area. I'm not I'm not gonna lie when I said I actually got emotional the first time
[804.25] Chad N: I got high and up in the in the air and and saw the sheer scale of everything that it really hits home to you
[811.93] Chad N: That how massive it is
[814.49] Chad N: Even just the Chernobyl power plant itself is massive
[817.89] Chad N: the first four reactors is huge and then you've got like a fifth one that they were building and
[823.09] Chad N: It was crazy
[825.41] Jack: Yeah, cuz like also it's all old tech. You've got to remember that 30 years ago
[831.37] Jack: Like we've we've downsized everything
[834.89] Jack: You know made everything smaller more efficient more compact and not no not nuclear reactors. They're still massive
[842.45] Adam: They're still you know, yeah, they're talking about building near Hinckley Point
[847.17] Jack: Yeah, but you know it is it is old tech it you know, there's there's a lot of space there
[853.01] Jack: You know, and it was just the sheer scale of that disaster
[857.97] Jack: But you know
[859.53] Chad N: Yeah, but to actually experience it in person is like the first day that we were there. It was
[866.41] Chad N: just a whole heap of silence because you just you're just trying to take it all in and
[872.61] Chad N: Chernobyl is certainly some way that I've been interested in but I would have never if I would have never have taken a holiday
[878.37] Chad N: There it would have never been my choice. It's never been on my radar
[881.05] Chad N: But I'm so glad that I went there just for the the amazing experiences
[886.01] Chad N: I spent three days in total are in the the exclusion zone
[891.17] Chad N: Visiting all the areas and it literally blew my mind and I know everyone else had a similar experience
[897.33] Jack: Did it? Yeah. Oh, did it make you feel quite insignificant?
[902.01] Jack: Yeah, yeah and fragile like, you know, you can just wipe yourself off the face of the earth quite easily
[908.41] Chad N: The first the first thing I started thinking is okay any per any politician that wants to run any country around the world
[915.29] Chad N: I think they need to need to spend a couple of days in Chernobyl before they take office
[920.01] Chad N: Because they're really Chernobyl is the perfect example of a reality check of what how humanity can the world up. Yeah
[929.53] Adam: It's crazy. Well in fairness, it's it's just one of the ways humanity can world up. We're really inventive
[938.89] Chad N: Yeah, we can we could do it's amazing how how many different ways we can think about doing it out and doing that
[945.13] Chad N: but yeah, no, it was a
[947.57] Adam: It was a humbling experience. Let me know that did you see the film Chernobyl diaries before you went out?
[954.81] Chad N: I've seen a lot of documentaries. It's it's not a documentary. It's a horror movie
[960.97] Chad N: I
[964.57] Chad N: We when we did get back those guys playing fallout that they were in Chernobyl I'm going holy crap, I bet I've actually stood there
[973.61] Chad N: So there's all these places that I recognize it's kind of funny
[977.29] Jack: was
[979.33] Jack: Because I
[981.05] Jack: posted up a video of
[983.77] Jack: Like in one of your your chats. I don't know whether you saw it where I was chatting about the
[990.85] Jack: fireman's
[992.65] Jack: Uniforms that they threw down in the basement of the hospital. Yeah, and yeah, apparently you guys went went
[999.25] Jack: Went to the hospital and someone's brought a helmet up from the from the basement
[1004.73] Jack: Yeah, and that is crazy like that person must be like glowing
[1011.05] Jack: or dead
[1012.65] Chad N: What they've done is they've actually they're poured concrete in the stairwell
[1017.41] Chad N: So you can't actually get down to the basement. You can still get there now, but you have to climb down the elevator shaft
[1023.57] Chad N: So it is possible to get there when it's not easy to get there. So they've blocked that off for safety reasons and
[1031.17] Chad N: Yeah, I wouldn't want to be someone who's grabbed one of those helmets for a memento
[1036.89] Chad N: But it's it's all got to be put into perspective as well
[1040.89] Chad N: So a lot of people are saying well, why would you why would you go there?
[1044.09] Chad N: You're gonna die on so stuff and I mean the the radioactivity is slightly elevated in in most of the exclusion zone
[1051.33] Chad N: But it's not at a deadly level. So
[1057.01] Chad N: What did we get we're if you're looking at
[1061.41] Chad N: like the the the ambient
[1064.81] Chad N: Radiation is around point one microsieverts
[1068.69] Chad N: a lot of the areas around
[1071.93] Chad N: around
[1074.41] Chad N: Around the area of Pripyat around sort of like the point three
[1077.85] Chad N: But sometimes you're getting up to like the one and the ten and the thirty lots of stuff
[1082.41] Chad N: But you you got to remember that you'd actually you're actually getting more of a dosage by jumping on an international flight and going high
[1088.69] Chad N: in the atmosphere
[1089.85] Jack: Yeah, all smoking and
[1092.49] Chad N: Yeah, and if you went and if you if you if you went
[1098.25] Chad N: If you went and got an ultra, sorry in an ultrasound a
[1101.87] Chad N: X-ray and that's that's the thing
[1104.59] Chad N: the
[1105.79] Chad N: The amount of radiation that you'd get there would be probably four or five times the amount of radiation that was coming off these
[1111.83] Chad N: Feynman's hats on to stuff
[1113.31] Chad N: The difference is how long you have that dosage for of course an x-ray is for a very short period of time if you would
[1119.03] Chad N: Have pick up that hat and take it home and have it in your house and keep it close by to you for a long
[1123.63] Chad N: Period of time. It's gonna make you very very sick
[1126.07] Chad N: But if you're only spending short periods of time there and I mean I wouldn't I wouldn't want to live in Pripyat
[1132.75] Chad N: But going and actually spending some time there and leaving again
[1135.63] Chad N: I feel quite comfortable and and we had Geiger counters and dosimeters and so stuff to see where
[1141.27] Chad N: Where all the my radioactive stuff was so we were feeling quite safe, but are you any of you old enough to remember when it happened?
[1149.51] Chad N: Well, yeah, I was born in 78 and it happened in 86, but I mean I
[1154.51] Chad N: Don't really remember the actual time. Oh, I
[1159.27] Adam: Even as a kid, I remember a lot of talk about how it was going to affect the sheep
[1164.31] Chad N: Yeah, well that lamb you guys cuz you guys were close to it over in Australia. We were still feeling distance away from it
[1172.03] Adam: Yeah, no, it was gonna pop our lamb
[1175.03] Adam: That was the
[1176.83] Tony: Sorry, Tony. I was just gonna ask. Did you see it many animals?
[1180.87] Tony: Was there any deer or birds or did you see any wildlife or was it strangely quiet?
[1186.91] Jack: No, so they're back. They got mutated wolves and stuff that they hunt and stuff
[1192.83] Chad N: Yeah, that was the very interesting thing. So of course, there was lots of
[1198.11] Chad N: Flora there so there's lots of plants of plants are just growing like wildfire
[1201.95] Chad N: but in the entire time that I was there the three days that I was there I
[1207.35] Chad N: saw a wolf a
[1211.03] Chad N: Fox a deer and I think it was a duck
[1219.63] Jack: What do you mean by I think it was a duck what was it that badly mutated
[1230.67] Chad N: Just in terms of birds that you would see in three days, I mean that's not very much at all
[1236.11] Chad N: I was quite surprised that the the pure lack of animals there. It was very very quiet
[1240.87] Chad N: so, I mean, maybe I was just a slow day, but
[1246.27] Chad N: The the sheer lack of animals I saw was kind of crazy
[1251.03] Chad N: So that was a very interesting experience there to see so little in the way of animal activity there. So
[1258.43] Chad N: Yeah
[1260.39] Chad N: Yeah, not much at all, but there are animals there but just it did seem freakily quiet
[1269.92] Tony: So what was the big radar tower you guys?
[1275.92] Chad N: Yeah
[1279.92] Chad N: Yeah, that was that was a huge structure
[1283.84] Chad N: Once again, I'd seen pictures of it, but to actually stand there. It was kind of crazy
[1289.8] Chad N: Apparently do the one cost two or three times
[1293.2] Chad N: What it cost to actually been built in the Chernobyl power station and the local people there actually have stated that
[1301.72] Chad N: When the Chernobyl power station was built
[1304.6] Chad N: There was no need to have the power station there that the whole the whole purpose of the power station was to run the
[1311.04] Chad N: the antenna itself
[1313.36] Chad N: It's kind of crazy
[1315.52] Chad N: They
[1317.28] Jack: Called it the Russian woodpecker didn't they and it's like a really low frequency for detecting
[1325.96] Jack: the 15-minute warning
[1328.16] Chad N: Yeah, it was like the seven to ten megahertz or something like that
[1332.2] Chad N: Range and all it were basically screwed with all the ham operators for many years on on various frequencies
[1339.88] Chad N: So, yeah
[1341.12] Chad N: I we had actually had Anthony cake from urgent RC with there with us and he was actually kind of geeking out cuz
[1347.92] Chad N: He was that he was that basically a ham operator back in the day and he was right into the ham radio when
[1354.4] Chad N: When it was active and he said this is really cool to actually see this thing that was annoying the crap out of us
[1359.2] Chad N: for so many years
[1363.56] Tony: And tell me done a good dive straight through the middle
[1366.76] Chad N: Yeah, Tommy won't be able to do that dive anymore because he won't fit through the hole with the massive testicles he's got
[1376.64] Chad N: Yeah, yeah the massive glowing titanium testicles all three of them did they did they would do any flying with the
[1384.72] Chad N: Tricopter. Yeah. Yeah, David did a hyper flying with his tricopter. It's kind of cool and
[1389.8] Chad N: he David seems to have a
[1392.8] Chad N: Vendetta against any quadcopter because he he had three
[1396.8] Chad N: I think it was three mid-airs with quadcopters the whole time the only mid-airs we ever had was with David tricopter
[1402.2] Chad N: So I think he's just got an issue with us
[1407.04] Jack: Was he flying mini ones or his full-size
[1410.64] Chad N: He had both
[1412.44] Chad N: Most of the time he was flying his full-size one because he is just trying to get some some good video shots
[1418.4] Chad N: I look forward to that his mini one there as well
[1421.4] Chad N: So we'd actually been with David
[1425.76] Chad N: The week before at flight fest and that was yeah meet up with him there that was awesome fun
[1432.16] Jack: Was it was there many pop? Was there any politics at flight fest or was it all right? No, I mean flight fest. I
[1440.44] Chad N: Had a goal this year the two things I wanted to go to was Joe Noel and flight fest
[1445.84] Chad N: Joan both of them were fantastic Joe Noel was good simply because of a 3d
[1450.92] Chad N: large-scale flight line those guys are crazy and and and
[1455.2] Chad N: Just like to have a good time and and recognize that there's some rules that are stupid
[1460.2] Chad N: But flight fest was just such good fun
[1463.2] Chad N: They were basically the only rule was don't be do don't do something that is going to cause injury to someone
[1470.72] Chad N: just that was it just use your own common sense and
[1474.72] Chad N: so you could basically do whatever you want and
[1477.56] Chad N: The flying was fantastic
[1479.24] Chad N: So anyone who's been to flight fest will know that they have these massive combat sessions where they'll have
[1485.04] Chad N: Probably a hundred pilots up in the air at one time doing a massive all-in-all combat sessions. So
[1491.84] Chad N: Stingus warm and myself decided it'd be a good idea to go and put on some
[1495.76] Chad N: Indestructible props on our quads and then go and join in on the combat
[1499.64] Chad N: And I got to tell you that's the most fun. I've ever had with a quad. It's just insane
[1503.92] Chad N: You're just chasing after foam planes and smashing into them and watching foam go everywhere as this plane goes flying down with its wings folded
[1511.4] Chad N: I think I destroyed about I don't know eight or ten aircraft in the in the space of two days very satisfying experience
[1521.56] Chad N: Yeah, it's it's great fun if you ever get a chance I'd highly recommend anyone to go there I
[1527.08] Chad N: had an absolute ball and remember to bring some
[1531.16] Chad N: Indestructible props of some kind with you because
[1534.56] Chad N: Going in getting yourself involved in the combat session with foam airplanes is too much fun
[1542.16] Tony: Yeah, we've done that before but not on such a huge scale
[1546.0] Tony: Yeah, what did you say Frank?
[1548.48] Frank: Did you does any foam planes take out take you out at some point or were you just taking everyone else's planes? I
[1555.16] Tony: Think the I think the foam planes lost break. Yeah, it sounds like it
[1564.82] Tony: It's like someone's trying to eat breakfast cereal. It does, isn't it?
[1571.08] Tony: Who is eating breakfast?
[1574.2] Tony: Well, I want to now
[1578.12] Tony: What's it we to fix there you go I
[1581.88] Jack: Add Coco pops, but that was a fair few hours ago. Yeah, I gotta say Coco pops wins ever
[1589.28] Chad N: We'd bigs any day of the week
[1593.52] Adam: Homemade egg McMuffin
[1597.48] Jack: That's getting it fancy yeah
[1601.32] Jack: Yeah, I don't I don't mean to be completely racist, but what was it like going to Russia with Americans in tow
[1609.44] Jack: Surely you would be on your nerves. I would say it's not Russia and they're quite sensitive about that
[1618.52] Jack: Yeah
[1620.6] Jack: It is I guess
[1622.6] Chad N: It was more of a joke, but you know, yeah, you're now dislike more than the Americans are
[1628.48] Chad N: Everyone's quite cool. Actually if you turn up as an American there because the currency is so good compared to the local currency
[1639.6] Chad N: You're actually accepted like you just got to say I'm from America and all of a sudden everyone wants to be your friend
[1647.32] Chad N: Yeah
[1648.36] Chad N: Now the the people there are very relaxed people. They're great
[1651.48] Chad N: I mean you got that part of the country that that's at war with the actual culture that people they're not even slightly interested in the
[1658.36] Chad N: War, they don't want to fight. They just want to live their lives. So so long as you're not a complete idiot
[1663.04] Chad N: They're they're they're very friendly towards you
[1669.12] Jack: What you know they wish you said they were struggling to get the tech in
[1674.4] Jack: What were they using was was it quite like, you know, were they using quite out of date tech or
[1681.4] Jack: You know, did you did you see what I'm really interested is, you know
[1685.48] Jack: Like in some parts of Mexico where they struggle to get like new
[1691.0] Jack: You know like new technology in or is it no actually it's not Mexico. I'm an idiot. Um, it's
[1698.64] Tony: Well, we know that but carry on is it Cuba?
[1702.12] Adam: No, I can't remember Cuba Cuba certainly has a serious restriction where they have all the old. Yes. Yeah, it's Cuba. I'm sorry
[1709.6] Jack: I'm an idiot
[1711.64] Jack: but
[1713.12] Jack: you know
[1714.44] Jack: Like they can't get the new tech so they start improvising like, you know using like breaking things apart and like, you know
[1722.4] Jack: making their own rechargeable
[1725.24] Jack: hearing aid batteries and you know bolting on external pumps to their washing machines
[1731.56] Jack: External motors, you know, did you go there and they were like using different ESCs, you know
[1739.52] Chad N: I wouldn't say it was that bad
[1741.52] Chad N: I mean, but I didn't see people turn up with three of the same thing with the latest technology
[1746.88] Chad N: I'm not wasn't seeing them flying with turning up with four frames identically with all this the latest gear wants to stuff
[1752.88] Chad N: But I wouldn't say it was it was out of technology. They just didn't have a lot of it
[1757.32] Chad N: So they had like all your nays 32 and things like that and some
[1762.8] Chad N: Reasonable frames and there was some probably sort of like home does our own design frames as well
[1767.28] Chad N: It's just they didn't have a lot of it. So they can get it in they just struggle to get the new large amounts
[1772.52] Adam: But I'll send it
[1774.88] Adam: Plus I guess I have to be a bit more careful with that cash
[1778.64] Chad N: Yeah, I mean if they're going to buy a nice city to with their currency
[1782.36] Chad N: It's gonna cost a lot more than what it's gonna cost me in terms of dollar value
[1786.24] Chad N: So it does make it make it a bit harder for them
[1792.86] Adam: But yeah
[1795.18] Adam: That's gonna say but what's the average earning I'm sure they earn more, you know, whatever they are
[1801.74] Chad N: I
[1803.22] Chad N: Couldn't really say I mean that I think yeah
[1806.98] Chad N: Just just from from someone living in America going over there and all of a sudden life becomes a lot easy
[1812.86] Chad N: Because things are just so cheap
[1815.42] Chad N: But I guess it's it's all relative
[1818.06] Chad N: But I don't know. I think that times are a little bit hard. Yeah hard there at the moment
[1823.74] Chad N: But I mean that that's life you get through it
[1827.42] Tony: Good place to retire. Yeah. Yeah
[1831.3] Adam: And maybe they'll have settled their differences with Russia by then
[1836.06] Chad N: Who knows people don't people don't settle differences very quickly
[1841.38] Adam: Yeah, or they do very very definitely but that's not something we want
[1847.22] Tony: exactly
[1849.34] Chad N: Did you did you I'm gonna start talking to you guys. I mean
[1853.74] Jack: I've got one question. Okay one question then I start. Yeah, okay. Did you find anything?
[1860.3] Jack: Unexpected, do you know like, you know, like you're wandering around Chernobyl and then you just find like I
[1868.06] Jack: Don't know like something you wouldn't expect
[1873.7] Chad N: Most of it was unexpected because it was so eerie. I mean
[1877.7] Chad N: you walk in the hospital like and
[1880.34] Chad N: There'll be a room that will have all these little
[1883.14] Chad N: Tiny little beds for newborn babies and they're just still they're still set up
[1892.86] Chad N: Like every time you go around a corner you see that and it's it literally is like like like life has just been
[1901.34] Chad N: Put on hold and it's not like that everywhere because of course
[1905.62] Chad N: What has happened is I'm sure after it's probably a couple of years afterwards
[1910.14] Chad N: But the army and the government's coming and they're basically stripped it
[1913.02] Chad N: So they stripped all the important things out like all your copper wire and things like that
[1917.14] Chad N: And so it looks very run-down now, but it's still very eerie
[1920.86] Chad N: So yeah, that's a hard one to answer because I mean every time I went around the corner. It's kind of wow
[1925.58] Chad N: Okay, this is I didn't expect that
[1930.58] Chad N: Yeah
[1932.62] Chad N: Right, so do I get to ask a question carry on feel free away. Yeah, okay. Sorry, so
[1940.14] Chad N: I hear you're you're young little hero Luke got got beaten in Korea. What's up with that? I'm sure it was
[1949.5] Chad N: That I'm not saying it
[1952.46] Adam: He's not my hero. I
[1954.66] Chad N: Haven't spoke. I haven't spoken to Luke yet, but it sounds like he had a really good time
[1957.82] Chad N: He said the event was really well-run. So it's it's good to see other kind of getting into this seriously
[1964.38] Adam: Did you have a good time? Is that what distracted him from his flying? Yeah, there we go
[1969.22] Chad N: We're gonna have to work on that stop enjoying yourself get serious. This is not supposed to be fun
[1973.94] Frank: Yep, definitely. Well Queen's Cup. He was he was competing and he didn't
[1980.34] Frank: get through to the
[1982.7] Frank: the finals because
[1984.78] Frank: Yeah, I think he might have slightly bottled it a bit when there was a bit of breakup on his video
[1990.1] Frank: He he he landed rather than smash out into the netting on the side and that cost him. Yeah
[1997.18] Frank: so, you know, it's it's
[1999.3] Frank: I think previously we've seen that Luke has been you know, really, you know pushing himself
[2005.62] Frank: 110% and you know
[2008.22] Frank: Occasionally that has not worked so well, but judging by what I saw at Queen's Cup
[2012.54] Frank: He's you know, he's definitely been working on managing himself a bit more
[2016.94] Frank: And maybe that's it's finding that balance where you're at the peak of what you can do
[2022.5] Chad N: At the end of the day
[2023.58] Chad N: I think one of the issues with FPV is if you can't if you can't see then you can't race
[2027.9] Chad N: And I've heard a lot of arguments about people. Well, you should be able to just fly through static
[2032.46] Chad N: I'm sorry. That's crap. If you can't see you can't see
[2035.58] Chad N: And it's one of those things where the the racing itself it still becomes to a bit of luck
[2041.26] Chad N: So if you don't have perfect feet on every single video
[2044.5] Chad N: The guy who's got the best video is gonna have the the most chance of winning
[2049.34] Chad N: Yeah, and it always comes down to that and I heard from a number of people that
[2054.02] Chad N: Korea had sort of less than perfect video feeders
[2057.66] Chad N: I mean we had our traumas at drone Nationals
[2061.78] Chad N: 2016 as well, but I mean I heard that Korea was not that fantastic as well a
[2067.18] Adam: Lot of interference in a country like that a lot of technology smaller, you know, exactly
[2072.54] Chad N: Yeah, and for these kinds of races you almost need to have it
[2078.02] Chad N: Away from a city sort of out in the country and a low RF noise floor
[2082.62] Adam: You can't you can't go away from a city and into the country and Korea without stepping into a land minefield
[2090.62] Chad N: Then it is a problem
[2093.9] Adam: It should have it on I can although I hear I hear it is a great the drones are gonna be a great way to clear
[2099.86] Adam: land minefields
[2101.22] Frank: Yeah, there was that that was one of the things recently that's been talked about wasn't it?
[2106.1] Adam: There was gonna I didn't read it in any detail
[2108.58] Adam: Do you put a weight on a bit of string and then just fly land come close to the ground?
[2113.9] Jack: Oh, it's a mini detonation
[2116.94] Jack: so you you chuck a little mini bomb on top of the land mine and then it becomes a big bomb and
[2124.46] Adam: There's little firecrackers you buy on holiday in France when you're a kid
[2128.46] Jack: Yeah, if you strap something to a hand grenade then yeah
[2133.82] Chad N: You kind of get the idea for all those old Phantom 3's
[2138.58] Jack: Yeah, well, I just let steel take them apart and put them in his mouth
[2143.66] Jack: I'm sorry. That's a little reference for anyone
[2148.1] Jack: Who's not in the know?
[2149.86] Adam: What's the calorie account? What's the you know, the nutritional value of a phantom through? I don't know if plenty of
[2157.82] Jack: Yes
[2159.1] Chad N: He's very nutritional many calories
[2162.58] Jack: low in carbs
[2164.58] Jack: And any other English questions for us
[2169.22] Chad N: English questions. Well, why are you guys so crap at cricket?
[2175.74] Adam: We're most of the sports we invented
[2179.06] Frank: Yeah, this is what we do
[2180.26] Frank: We invent new sports and then get good at them and then other people get good at them and so we invent a new one
[2185.34] Frank: That's how it works, you know
[2187.46] Chad N: Should I even crap it cricket you crap it you crap it soccer. What else are you crap it?
[2192.06] Jack: Hang on. Hang on. Let me should I should I even bother?
[2195.86] Jack: Googling
[2198.9] Jack: Shut up Tony
[2202.14] Jack: Should I Google how Australia is doing in the Olympics or should I not bother they're better than us, mate
[2208.1] Chad N: The the Olympics is irrelevant. Anyway, that's basically just people running around chucking spears and trying to beat one another across a white line
[2215.94] Chad N: That's irrelevant
[2218.18] Adam: It's it's traditional for the host country to do really really badly in the first Olympics after they host. Yeah, and we are
[2225.78] Chad N: We're sticking up for that tradition. Where is the Olympics this time around? I had no idea
[2233.74] Chad N: Okay, because I don't follow the Olympics at all
[2237.54] Adam: there's
[2239.54] Adam: Well, you will if they put
[2241.58] Jack: Yeah, well apparently next year they're gonna add skateboarding BMX and some other sports
[2249.66] Chad N: Next time is Japan way to actually become relevant again
[2253.1] Jack: Yeah, that's what they said they wanted, you know a younger audience to become part of it. They had BMX it
[2259.14] Adam: They had BMX in London
[2261.7] Frank: That was it. Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't know speaking of large international sporting events
[2268.78] Frank: I
[2270.38] Frank: Will also take this moment just to note
[2273.26] Frank: the
[2275.06] Frank: ERSA the European Rotorsports Association
[2278.02] Frank: Euro Cup finals have been
[2281.62] Frank: shifted back
[2283.46] Frank: to
[2284.34] Frank: The 6th to 9th of October. So that's the Ibiza Euro Cup
[2289.34] Frank: So if anyone's already booked their time off and tickets and everything to go over to Ibiza for that then
[2295.62] Frank: lucky you yeah
[2298.46] Chad N: Don't I'm gonna make that's gonna make a lot of people happy. Yeah. Yeah
[2304.1] Adam: Sounds very unreasonable. Just changing it at the last minute
[2307.7] Frank: Yeah, well, I don't know anything behind just what I've seen on their Facebook page
[2312.34] Frank: But yeah from the Facebook page lots of people are not very happy
[2316.62] Frank: But they do say that an advantage to the new day is that this place is the timing outside of high
[2322.02] Frank: Holiday season and so flights and accommodation will be cheaper unless you paid for it
[2326.4] Adam: Less cheap if you bought the others. Yeah
[2329.68] Jack: Why does everyone want Chad to say formula FPV? No, we want
[2335.48] Jack: Chad to come to formula FPV, but he seems to love America more than the UK you guys get me over there
[2342.68] Chad N: I'll be more than happy to go around there. I just seem to be stuck here
[2348.92] Tony: You do need to come to the UK you guys
[2351.96] Chad N: Yeah, one of one of Robert riots next trips that we do want to do as a European tour that includes England
[2358.92] Chad N: So yeah over there
[2360.78] Chad N: we know we there's there's a lot to do over there and a lot of people that want us to come over there and a
[2366.8] Chad N: Really growing community there and I want to see what you guys are doing
[2370.8] Chad N: Right because I'm seeing a lot of things that's being done wrong over here in America
[2375.24] Chad N: And keen to get over there
[2376.68] Chad N: and I just want to catch up in with Luke and don't fly in his home territory and
[2381.08] Chad N: Enjoy the wonder that is a 2,000 foot cloud based murky sky and rain every single day. I mean, that's the best
[2387.72] Chad N: You just want to bully Luke
[2389.4] Chad N: That's all you want to do the most satisfying time I've ever had in my life was when I actually sat on him for the first
[2394.76] Jack: Time I want to repeat that. I think there's laws against that. I think we might put you on a list over it at least over here
[2400.76] Chad N: I
[2402.76] Chad N: Have written consent from his mom and she's already done that. I think that he said
[2408.12] Jack: I think it's a thing. Yeah, I have
[2411.8] Jack: I have no urge to do that whatsoever
[2415.92] Jack: Important for Chad tell him that mr. Lemon RX fail safe master finally got a Taranis. Oh look at yeah
[2423.84] Jack: Congratulations. Well done. Enjoy not being able to navigate the menus, but still
[2429.56] Chad N: Fantastic piece of kit. Well, yeah, I mean it it's yeah, it's an absolute
[2435.96] Chad N: piece of crap to
[2437.64] Chad N: To go around the gimbals feel like they're pieces of cheese stuck in sand
[2442.68] Chad N: But guess what your quads not constantly falling out of the sky and I find that to be reasonably important. Yeah, that's cool
[2449.84] Jack: Yeah, don't forget the wind apparently
[2453.36] Adam: Also
[2455.56] Adam: Clinton Roberts is putting a generous ten pounds, which is I think as many as twelve dollars towards that airfare
[2463.32] Chad N: So you'll be here in no time. Oh, there we go. Here we go. We've just got to have another
[2468.56] Chad N: 2,000 people or whatever. My maths pretty bad. That's probably wrong
[2472.2] Chad N: We're just gonna have lots of people add to that and we'll be here
[2475.96] Jack: Get up a crowdfund and yeah, I'm up for doing that a kickstarter
[2482.08] Frank: I genuinely think a kickstarter getting wrote a riot or at least you over here. We're definitely
[2490.92] Tony: I reckon it'd be done in days. I reckon you'd have enough cash to get here in days
[2495.08] Tony: Let's set up so he comes to former FBV. Who's the other guy coming from America from video?
[2501.16] Jack: What do you mean he's our Lord and Savior the IV crazy the engineer of God
[2507.76] Adam: He's coming I'll run it but I'll have to keep some for administrative expense. Okay. Yeah, you do that. All right
[2517.16] Chad N: The red tape and politics is already
[2519.92] Frank: Welcome to England. Yeah, we've got to be pretty quick about this cuz you know
[2523.8] Frank: I'll do the plug for chairman because he's plugging it on in the chat. So for me there FPV
[2529.8] Frank: August 19th to the 21st
[2533.6] Tony: Yeah, so that is and chat Chad Chad's gonna be there
[2538.64] Frank: Yeah, definitely
[2540.28] Chad N: That's that's where I do have to
[2543.96] Chad N: Disappoint you there and actually give some more interesting news because on that weekend. I'll actually be in Boston
[2550.4] Chad N: participating in the Red Bull fluke tag
[2553.96] Chad N: Do you know what the Red Bull fluke tag is
[2556.84] Adam: Is that the Red Bull fluke target have you if it's in Boston, I presume it's a drinking competition
[2562.48] Chad N: Not quite have you ever seen those lunatics that basically make those and build aircraft and then jump off a 30-foot. Oh, yeah
[2570.6] Chad N: well, I'm myself and steel we're part of the the Rotor riot slash
[2577.48] Chad N: Flight test team where we're Josh Bigsler from flight test and the other guys are actually currently building this contraption
[2585.24] Chad N: And I'm I'm stupid enough to put my hand up to say yeah, I'll fly it
[2590.36] Chad N: So I'm gonna be jumping off a 30-foot Peter see how far I can actually fly
[2594.76] Jack: They're gonna they're gonna be in a guinea pig and I know in them lot
[2601.12] Jack: Not that long ago
[2607.48] Chad N: The center section is from a 1941 Volma
[2612.64] Chad N: kit plane
[2614.16] Chad N: And they're making the the wings and tail out of blue foam and and laser cutting the whole thing
[2620.72] Chad N: It actually looks kind of cool. So I reckon it's gonna fly a reasonable distance
[2625.36] Jack: But I say it's like he's he's David Vindestal involved in any way
[2632.52] Chad N: He took one look at it and when you guys are crazy and kept on walking
[2636.76] Jack: Well, I'm gonna be on fire
[2641.48] Adam: It does look like a novel way to get to the emergency room
[2646.56] Chad N: Someone who's gonna die I can just say well
[2649.48] Chad N: I'm retiring from racing why because they almost drowned on the Red Bull flood tag
[2654.8] Jack: That's weird put put in a good word for us
[2658.16] Chad N: Red Bull do we'll do who will do
[2661.26] Jack: Um, yeah, I just I'm thinking about that
[2668.14] Jack: Kickstarter and I love the idea that like one of the incentives is like, you know, you you get to sit on Luke Bannister
[2677.74] Jack: If you donate 1,000 pounds you get the chance to sit on on Luke
[2683.26] Chad N: Like whether he's got any say on it or not. I'm gonna donate a thousand pounds just for that myself
[2688.9] Chad N: Yeah
[2691.26] Chad N: I
[2695.58] Tony: Don't you're on the case stop, okay now, okay
[2699.5] Adam: I also need someone to go and catch Luke and tie him down so we can make that promise. I'm not
[2705.66] Chad N: He's pretty quick. He's pretty fast. He's like he's quite maneuverable, but I've noticed he ties out quickly
[2711.26] Jack: All right. Okay, really really obscure reference
[2714.18] Jack: I'm gonna say if anyone's good at catching and tying Luke Bannister up
[2718.14] Jack: It's a metal Danny and that's all I'm gonna say
[2722.46] Jack: Without saying too much
[2725.42] Jack: But hopefully you'll find that funny if he ever listens to that
[2729.1] Jack: um
[2730.22] Jack: Oh man
[2731.58] Jack: And if he doesn't yeah
[2733.66] Jack: Yeah, have you um, have you been I've noticed you'd be playing around with the conic system. I'm glad i've seen it
[2739.74] Jack: I've i'm sick of talking about it
[2742.78] Jack: Have you did you get to play with any of the new immersion?
[2746.78] Jack: stuff
[2748.94] Chad N: Which immersion stuff are you talking about?
[2752.38] Jack: Vtx's and the yeah, you know
[2758.38] Jack: So you're talking about the tramp vtx yes, yeah i'm talking about that yeah, okay
[2763.1] Chad N: Well, I got one sitting right next to me. So the any goods
[2766.46] Chad N: Yeah
[2767.34] Chad N: Oh, I find this is something
[2769.9] Chad N: Very interesting, uh, which is going to require more testing. So I have flown it through
[2775.58] Chad N: I've I actually got a tramp vtx offense knee
[2780.46] Chad N: Just as we left the ukraine
[2782.94] Chad N: Uh, and I didn't really get a chance to use it until the drone nationals because I was so busy
[2787.66] Chad N: So what I do need to do is go and um test it some more
[2791.58] Chad N: So i've got the tramp itself and I've got everything else what I don't have is the wand
[2795.74] Chad N: Um, i'm hoping in the next week or two that i'm going to get one of the early versions of the wand to come out
[2801.1] Chad N: So yeah, but I can still use it, but it's just a bit more of a painting which yeah
[2805.42] Chad N: Locked. Yeah, but I had a very good experience using it. Um in the drone national
[2810.76] Chad N: 2016 uh, it's very interesting
[2812.7] Chad N: There's a lot of talk going on there and a lot of bashing going on about the product and i'll be perfectly honest
[2819.34] Chad N: The majority of the bashing has come from coming from tbs
[2823.0] Chad N: Loyalists and from the center section of of team black sheep, which I think is kind of empathetic
[2828.94] Chad N: um
[2830.38] Chad N: I didn't actually have a problem with it at all. Uh, I it flew quite well and
[2835.34] Chad N: And worked quite well for me. I do need to go out and fly it some more in real world scenario outside
[2841.42] Chad N: Before I really make uh, make a call on the thing
[2845.1] Chad N: Uh, what I will say is that there's a lot of bashing going on from the drone nationals
[2850.22] Chad N: But anyone who actually spent the time to actually look at the rf noise situation that we were dealing with
[2857.34] Chad N: Would understand very clearly that nothing you had there would work well
[2862.54] Chad N: To give you an idea. We had there was a large high power radio communications tower
[2868.06] Chad N: Just on the other side of the island, which was pumping out directional
[2872.3] Chad N: Uh a directional, uh signal on channel six raceband, which was totally destroying channel six and channel five
[2880.54] Chad N: uh, we also had a
[2882.92] Chad N: microwave
[2884.14] Chad N: Transmitter that was set up in the middle of the track by espn3
[2888.86] Chad N: Which was broadcasting their live feed from the island to the mainland
[2893.02] Chad N: which was uh, basically destroying channels three through through to channel five
[2898.86] Chad N: uh, we also had a um a camera a wide angle camera with a high power transmitter in a
[2905.98] Chad N: That was situated in a building in manhattan, which you could actually pick up the signal from manhattan
[2912.14] Chad N: Uh, and you could actually see the island
[2914.38] Chad N: Now I don't want to point any fingers
[2915.9] Chad N: But it was pointed out to me that drl is actually based in that uh is based in that building and we're wondering whether or not
[2922.46] Chad N: Someone from drl put it in there and turned it on because it was turned off during the night time when we went racing
[2927.58] Chad N: Which was funny enough?
[2929.1] Chad N: Uh, so there was that there was also the the media and the sponsors were sticking up wi-fi
[2935.02] Chad N: Some of them were putting them actually inside on the towers inside the track
[2939.34] Chad N: Essentially what happened was you had an rf noise floor. That was absolutely
[2944.12] Chad N: Retarded and on one day we only had language final guide language
[2949.74] Chad N: Yeah, you gotta watch out for that friggin language
[2951.98] Chad N: Uh at one day one day we only had two channels available to us that were free
[2957.42] Chad N: uh and uh
[2960.62] Chad N: Like I was the one that was seeing the spectrum analyzer of what was going on there and it was
[2965.74] Chad N: It was totally retarded. There was
[2967.8] Chad N: Unfortunately, uh, whoever happened to be in charge of the vtx's was going to have a bad day
[2974.3] Chad N: And as we worked on it, we managed to get shut some of the things down and give more channels available to us
[2979.5] Chad N: but it was basically
[2981.58] Chad N: Just a bad situation that
[2984.3] Chad N: That you really can only point towards bad organization from from the race organizers that they didn't they didn't even bother to think that
[2991.98] Chad N: Okay, espn3 is going to bring on a uh, a transmitter that's going to be on this frequency
[2996.94] Chad N: That didn't bother to check that out. So
[2999.34] Chad N: um
[3000.3] Chad N: Yeah, I think the tramp is getting a lot of undeserved
[3004.54] Chad N: Uh bad attention right now
[3007.02] Chad N: Uh, I do intend to go and fly my tramp vtx's that I got there more to test them out
[3012.86] Chad N: So I might find that it's not as good as what i'm currently using and in which case I won't but if
[3017.82] Chad N: If I do find that it's good that i'm going to switch everything over to that because the size is great
[3022.38] Chad N: and I really like the fact that you've got this one that you can change channels with and
[3027.66] Chad N: Um, uh, yeah, everything about it is very good. I've just got to test it some more
[3031.82] Jack: Yeah, because um, i've met anthony from immersion. I really like the guy
[3037.42] Jack: I use nothing but immersion vtx's and i've loved them i've never used any tbs products
[3045.34] Jack: Yeah, frank. I have your
[3047.82] Jack: Your your opinion of the vtx
[3050.62] Jack: from
[3051.82] Jack: Dbs matches richard wheelan's opinion. Yeah, and was possibly one of the funniest videos i've seen in a very long time
[3060.14] Jack: I did find that quite funny. Yeah
[3064.46] Jack: What's your opinion of dbs?
[3067.1] Chad N: Um, look they've got some good products. Uh
[3070.78] Chad N: They've got some like for example the unify pro is is okay. I've got one of their the unify pro hv the original unify
[3078.94] Chad N: I I will not use within a 20-foot barging pole because
[3082.94] Chad N: I personally refuse to use any vtx that that will not accept direct light power input
[3088.38] Chad N: And I will not use any vtx that does not provide a five volt filter output to a camera
[3093.58] Chad N: I want a vtx that can stand alone and do all the job that's required to I don't understand
[3098.54] Chad N: Why a company would not install that sort of stuff. So the unify pro I would never use for that reason the unify pro hv
[3106.78] Chad N: Um has that um
[3109.18] Chad N: But i've i've seen a lot of instances of them burning up and I know steel has complained about it changing channels and
[3116.3] Chad N: And the channel that you select is different to what it actually is
[3119.34] Chad N: It's got some problems, uh, and i've seen a lot of people that I personally know which these things have burnt up
[3125.58] Chad N: Which are quite fine fine quite funny
[3127.74] Chad N: Where tbs is having a go at some of the tramps from burnt the early versions of the tramps burning up because they were
[3132.86] Chad N: They were putting too much voltage into them above spec and they were burning up when
[3136.94] Chad N: The tramp does sorry when the the tbs unify pro does exactly the same thing
[3141.82] Chad N: Uh, yeah, I I don't really have a problem with a lot of their products
[3147.02] Chad N: Uh, what I do have a problem with tbs is this
[3151.42] Chad N: sort of um
[3154.22] Jack: The trap are you working?
[3156.22] Chad N: Yeah, the the shitty attitude that they have to go out and try and deface
[3161.74] Chad N: The uh the competition wherever they go and i'm not saying that immersion rc is perfectly
[3167.74] Chad N: Uh innocent of that they've done that at times as well and I would just simply put out there that you guys
[3174.54] Chad N: Are companies that can stand on your own two feet by yourselves and it's a big enough world for you both to operate
[3181.82] Chad N: Independently and successfully and you need to stop acting like 60 year old kids and arguing online
[3188.14] Chad N: Just shut the up and continue on with your with your with your operation
[3193.1] Chad N: And continue selling gear it gets pathetic when I read this stuff in both public and private. So
[3198.94] Chad N: It's got nothing to do with the hardware. I I think both the tbs unify pro hb and the tramp have a place
[3205.42] Chad N: And it's kind of like apple versus pc or or or ford versus chevrolet
[3211.58] Chad N: Chick pick whichever one is your favorite and stick with it and and don't and stop
[3217.82] Chad N: Stop getting stuck into it. You stop bitching to other people who have a different opinion. They both work. That's fine
[3223.66] Chad N: Now, um, i'm sure you'll find people that have got bad reports about you know
[3228.22] Chad N: Immersion rc just as many bad reports about tbs. They both have their good sides and their bad sides and
[3234.38] Chad N: Both people people both have a good report with them and a bad report with them. It depends on the individual
[3241.02] Chad N: I think we just need to stop fighting and stop bitching about this because it gets pathetic when I read it time and time again online
[3248.94] Chad N: And but right now I think the my big issue is tbs really seems to be having this vendetta funny enough
[3255.66] Chad N: That's what their vendetta is called
[3257.42] Chad N: Their vendetta against immersion rc and just keeps on trying to blacklist them in every chance that they get
[3262.62] Chad N: That's just not the not just the tbs organization
[3265.5] Chad N: But also their team pilots which almost seem like they're required to basically badmouth every single opportunity
[3271.82] Chad N: And I think it's a bit pathetic and stupid
[3274.7] Tony: Can we ask what uh vtx you use please?
[3279.5] Chad N: I've used many vtx's the one that I currently use is the old school immersion rc 600 milliwatt vtx
[3286.38] Chad N: And with the good old dip switches on so stuff, uh, and I use the 200 for racing
[3291.34] Chad N: The reason why I use them is because they just work
[3295.1] Chad N: Yeah, they work and they work really well. I have never blown one up ever in the over two years that i've been using them
[3302.38] Chad N: You can leap you're running straight from a lipo as well
[3305.9] Chad N: Exactly direct from the lipo and then it's powering the camera
[3309.58] Chad N: It's very very simple and it just works
[3311.66] Chad N: I've
[3312.38] Chad N: I've had these things turned turned on without an antenna plugged into them for up to 20 minutes half an hour
[3317.9] Chad N: And completely forgotten about it and come back and it's been completely fine. Okay, they're a bit heavier
[3323.1] Chad N: Okay, they're a bit bigger, but i'm running them in things like alien frames onto stuff
[3327.74] Chad N: Whereas space is not an issue and they just work
[3330.38] Chad N: So a lot of the times when I go flying in places with do a throat or right
[3334.38] Chad N: If you crash out
[3335.58] Chad N: You're probably never going to get your quad back because you're flying over water or or a terrain that's that you can't get back again
[3341.58] Chad N: Can't get to so I want something that's reliable
[3344.54] Chad N: Uh, and it works for me and it works. Well, and i've never had one fail and i've put them through hell
[3349.66] Chad N: I've smashed them up. Uh, i've
[3352.3] Chad N: I've I've I've I've really put them through hell and they keep on ticking
[3355.9] Chad N: That's why I continue to use them and hopefully if the tramp becomes that uh, that reliable then i'll go that way as well
[3362.94] Tony: I was going to say is the tramp. Um
[3365.34] Tony: Is that smaller than the?
[3367.5] Chad N: Immersion? Yeah
[3369.42] Chad N: It's two parts
[3371.74] Chad N: Yeah, if you if you're not using the little wand part, it's a bit smaller than the
[3376.7] Chad N: than the
[3378.22] Chad N: Than the unified pro hv, but it's a bit thicker
[3382.79] Tony: Oh, who's eating crisps now someone's moving their microphone
[3388.07] Tony: Yeah, yeah rubbing their mic on themselves. I didn't eat any crisps
[3392.31] Tony: Yeah, so everyone stop moving, please
[3396.31] Tony: stand still
[3398.31] Jack: stop breathing, um
[3400.53] Jack: Afterwards I will ask you because I got I got ant in these email
[3405.43] Jack: And I I have invited him on the show
[3408.63] Jack: And i'll never hear back from him anymore and i'm guessing because he's very very busy
[3413.27] Jack: But that's the reason yeah, so i'm gonna ask you
[3418.95] Jack: Clearly, uh, i'm gonna ask you what the hell I have to write an email to get his attention
[3423.83] Jack: So i'm sure that you can you could think of something amusing for telling me he's already won the spanish national lottery
[3429.27] Jack: No, don't don't say it out on on air because everyone will send him an email
[3435.03] Jack: Chad says you're a dick
[3437.11] Jack: Okay
[3439.75] Chad N: So many
[3441.35] Chad N: I get to get so many emails now. Yeah, that's it
[3445.11] Jack: That's it. Yeah
[3446.63] Chad N: Well, yeah now
[3448.79] Chad N: I've got four of those tramps and uh, i'm keen to give them a go and
[3452.95] Chad N: Um so far they've been good, but I don't like to comment on anything short term
[3457.59] Chad N: So I like to go and fly with something for a month or two and put it through hell and then see what happens
[3462.63] Chad N: Because there's been it's been all too often
[3464.95] Chad N: In the past where i've said something good about something and then the next week it fails on me
[3469.03] Chad N: So long-term testing is the only way to really get your head around that
[3473.75] Jack: My my best testing methods is get tony to install it if it survives that that's pretty good
[3481.03] Jack: If tony can run it longer than 10 minutes without destroying it
[3485.51] Jack: Because like that's that's tony's one mode really is just destroy
[3490.15] Jack: Then uh, yeah, it's great. It's by 10
[3493.03] Jack: Um sounds like we've got a winner. Yeah, that's it. Really if it's tony proof, it's brilliant
[3498.79] Jack: Um, yeah, shall we call it there guys because it's it's time. It is time to
[3504.47] Frank: Give way to damn we've been talking for a while
[3507.35] Frank: Oh, yeah
[3509.43] Frank: So yeah, so thank you. We're we're recording this live on powering on dotco.uk on the 11th of august 2016
[3516.65] Frank: It is just coming up to the time where we have to say goodbye and let you
[3521.69] Frank: Live listeners instead listen to hannah the 3d printing lady who will be talking about
[3526.97] Frank: I think she's talking about the explosive thing. I can't remember
[3530.33] Frank: She's going to be talking about lots of interesting 3d printing stuff. So yeah, thank you very much for coming on chad
[3536.81] Frank: And thank you everyone else
[3539.29] Frank: Uh, so we've got had tony we've had adam we've had jack and we have me
[3544.81] Frank: Good night, everybody and thank you for listening
[3547.93] UNKNOWN: Good night, everyone
