[294.96] Greg: Um, it was, it was rather rapid, um, the expansion and, um, it was, um, obviously,
[303.76] Greg: moving just from a few friends to more of a commercial, um, adventure.
[308.2] Greg: And, uh, the started off initially selling them, uh, directly from,

[315.56] Greg: But I was finding that, um, I was spending all day just packing little
[319.68] Greg: parcels and sending them off around the world.
[322.56] Greg: So, um, at that point you started, um, getting in touch with a few
[326.76] Greg: shops and things like that.
[328.16] Greg: So, uh, so now I mean, they're in the US, Canada, Australia,
[332.92] Greg: New Zealand, uh, various shops in Europe.
[336.48] Jae: And big suppliers like get FPV in the US side of things.
[339.6] Jae: That's, you know, making a mark, isn't it?
[341.2] Jae: If you get your product there and it's UK design.
[342.72] Jae: So it's a bonus all around really.

[345.84] Greg: Very, very pleased when, um, when they decided to take some, that was, um,
[350.12] Greg: that was quite major for us.
[352.52] Jae: Well, it's interesting because I mean, I hadn't got a patch antenna and
[355.76] Jae: I always wanted one, but like you, I mean, the cost of some of these things
[358.84] Jae: for what they essentially are was quite extortionate.
[362.32] Jae: Um, and so actually when it came across the minutes, which is my first one,
[365.68] Jae: it was always, I was always surprised at how cheap, you know, affordable
[368.36] Jae: it was to add to a system.

[372.96] Jae: So the patch in this, it's more antennas that are in the works or what's
[378.08] Jack: some of your upcoming developments?
[379.8] Jack: It's the pagoda one.

[388.56] Jack: If you noticed NJ's latest video and Neil from iDrone posted a, uh, a little
[397.24] Jack: image of one, it's two from what I can tell it's three PCBs and two of them
[402.84] Jack: stuck together, one positive plane, one negative, as far as I know.
[406.2] Jack: And the bottom one, the very bottom, the last smaller one says that it's
[410.12] Jack: made by a guy called Greg.

[416.08] Greg: Um, yeah, Martin, uh, is a, uh, very clever Belgium guy.
[421.32] Greg: He's, um, developed this, um, antenna technique with PCBs.
[426.6] Greg: And, uh, yeah, it is pretty much exactly as you described there.
[431.6] Greg: You've got an active PCB on the top.
[433.8] Greg: Second one down is a ground plane.
[435.84] Greg: And the third one down is like a baling to, um, stop the co-acts,
[440.12] Greg: um, radiating and so on.

[605.28] Greg: can make them, but because of the wires have got to be very precise, uh,
[611.24] Greg: dimensions, that is the bit tolerance is.

[617.84] Tony: And, um, so that's why when you crash one of the triumphs and you take that
[626.4] Tony: plastic off and you bend any of that metal in there, I just don't work anymore.

[634.6] Greg: I mean, the, the wire obviously serves a purpose when it's in the correct
[638.0] Greg: position, but since it's moved, um, yeah, you, you're reducing the gain and
[642.8] Greg: everything in there, um, the, the new antennas that we're doing, um, with
[648.56] Greg: the PCVs, obviously the wires don't move because they're, they're on the PCV.
[654.84] Greg: So, um, you can crash and batter it and, um, it's all going to stay in place.

[661.64] Greg: Uh, we've, we've, um, told her, uh, an injection molded case for them.

[703.2] Tony: So these, these are more, more crash proof than, than quite a lot of stuff on the market.

[712.16] Greg: I think, you know, the PCBs inside, um, with the conductors on, they're not
[716.92] Greg: going to move and the case really is to just stop the PCBs moving.

[729.52] Tony: over it, hot glue it in, you're still going to be good to go on here.

[734.48] Greg: Um, the only thing you've got to watch if you're gluing the top PCB and the ground
[738.84] Greg: PCB, if you get some glue between those or, um, a solid between those, then you,
[743.76] Greg: you will upset the, um, the operation of it.

[756.04] Greg: got a dielectric coefficient, um, which can upset the, you know, the high
[760.8] Greg: frequency, um, operation of the, uh, of the antenna there.

[774.04] Greg: Um, yes, we've, we've, um, we've been working on price right now and, um, I

[1033.16] Tony: obviously stick it in the case and everything is that what you just called

[1042.28] Greg: Well, Pagoda is the actual, um, the name that Martin's given to the, the, the
[1048.44] Greg: construction technique of putting the PCBs on the cracks and so on.
[1052.84] Greg: Um, but we, we thought as we were sticking it into a case and everything, um, you
[1057.6] Greg: need to give it a cooler name.
[1059.56] Greg: So we thought Raptor would be the way to go.

[1066.2] Tony: So what advantage is it got over, uh, any other antenna that people
[1070.04] Tony: use it at the moment?
[1072.0] Tony: Okay.
[1072.36] Greg: So, um, uh, it's, it's, it's small.
[1076.6] Greg: Um, that's the first thing.
[1078.44] Greg: Um, the, the, the diameter of the cases, I think it's 25 millimeters.
[1084.68] Greg: Um, the height is about 85 millimeters.
[1088.16] Greg: So first thing is it's quite small.
[1091.6] Greg: And, um, second of all, um, for the gain on it, it's not the highest gain.
[1097.16] Greg: It's about 1.09 dB.
[1100.28] Greg: Um, but the way, um, it operates, it's got a higher, higher efficiency of about
[1107.08] Greg: 92%, now a lot of other, um, typical antennas, uh, they, they, they can run
[1114.6] Greg: anywhere from 20 to 70%, um, efficiency.
[1119.28] Greg: And there are other products coming out with high, high efficiencies, but, um,
[1126.12] Greg: the, the, the Raptor is yet 92%.
[1130.68] Greg: Then what, what we're finding, what this gives you is if you, um,
[1136.76] Greg: compare it with say a higher gain, uh, antenna, um, because it's the high
[1144.08] Greg: efficiency, you'll get in a, you'll get in a received signal, which is, you
[1149.2] Greg: know, about 20% higher than other antennas that we've compared it to.
[1154.48] Greg: Um, so I would say that is probably one of the key things of, of this antenna is
[1160.0] Greg: obviously the efficiency and, um, the other sort of major thing on the antenna
[1166.76] Greg: has got an extremely high actual ratio, which seems to be a bit of the buzzword
[1172.08] Greg: at the moment in antenna land.
[1175.76] Greg: So, uh, yeah, high actual ratio on this one.
[1178.4] Greg: And, um, which means it's going to be great if you're racing with mates and
[1183.36] Greg: you get a few on the right hand, a few on the left hand, and you're going to
[1187.48] Greg: get as much separation as possible.
[1189.4] Jack: Um, you know,
[1193.2] Jack: what you're trying to pick up, you know, the shapes completely different.
[1198.28] Jack: So you get less DBI, like tiny amount on the other polarization.
[1203.2] Jack: If you're trying to listen to it.
[1205.12] Greg: Yeah, exactly that.
[1206.16] Greg: Exactly that.
