====================================

Life get's us down some times.

[0.11] Jack: Hello and you should be listening to Let's Drone Out.
[7.11] Jack: Tonight we are joined by Adam Juniper.
[10.11] Jack: Hello.
[11.11] Jack: Final Glide Oz.
[14.11] Jack: Hello.
[16.11] Jack: And Jay Chitko.
[19.11] Jack: Yeah, g'day. At least we'll get one g'day in there.
[25.11] Jack: And the my adorable little vegan sausage.
[29.11] Tony: Bonjour.
[32.11] Jack: And I'm Jack, right until I fly.
[37.11] Jack: Yes, you are.
[39.11] Jack: So, yeah, a lot's been going on. Hashtag ruining the hobby.
[48.03] Jack: I've been asked by someone to not question whether your real name's Final Glide Oz or Chad or Judas.
[60.03] Chad N: Is this going to be like where Obama really was born, whether he was an American or not?
[66.03] Jack: Yeah, it's over there.
[68.03] Jack: Do I need to get my dose certificate out?
[72.03] Jack: You're Australian.
[75.03] Jack: Not that you're broadcasting from Australia or that you've got an Australia accent and your name's Final Glide Oz.
[85.03] Jack: And a lot of people know you in Australia.
[88.03] Jack: Who did that first certificate? You're a fraud.
[91.03] Chad N: Well, I wouldn't expect a bunch of English winders to go easy on me.
[100.03] Chad N: Let's put it that way.
[103.03] Chad N: We had the scum from your land because we kept on stealing your bread.
[109.03] Jack: Look, we exiled people like you for a reason.
[117.03] Jack: You're clearly a criminal.
[120.03] Chad N: Well, we try.
[123.03] Jack: Oh, God.
[125.03] Chad N: I do have to say, though, the things you can get away as an Australian in another country is just it is criminal.
[134.03] Chad N: It's great.
[135.03] Chad N: It's like you do something you're not supposed to do and they give you a horrified.
[138.03] Chad N: Look, you turn around.
[139.03] Chad N: It's got to ride on Australia.
[141.03] Chad N: Oh, okay.
[143.03] Chad N: Yeah, that makes sense.
[145.03] Chad N: There's got to be some benefit to it.
[147.03] Adam: Even well, even if you get to this to neighbors and we're going to let you get away with some minor crimes as well.
[155.03] Chad N: Well, look, I'm not going to I'm not going to defend neighbors.
[158.03] Chad N: Look, I do have to as a nation, I do have to apologize for that and all the other countries out there have no idea.
[164.03] Chad N: We have no idea what we're talking about.
[166.03] Chad N: But trust me, you don't want to be elsewhere.
[170.03] Chad N: Yeah, I apologize quite often.
[173.03] Tony: Massive question missing it missing in action.
[176.03] Tony: Do you want to tell us what happened and why?
[180.03] Chad N: Oh, we're getting we're getting straight into the to the to the big question.
[185.03] Chad N: Why not?
[189.03] Chad N: Okay missing it actually I was going to do a paste on this because the quite honestly has been a humbling number of people that have been trying to contact me privately and not so stuff and I apologize to anyone that I didn't reply to this right in the middle of it.
[197.03] Chad N: I just sort of cut myself off and didn't reply to anyone but I guess it's a pretty simple answer.
[205.03] UNKNOWN: I got burnt out.
[206.03] Chad N: I just I'd had enough and I'm sure if you talk to anyone who tries to make their passion in terms of what they're going to do.
[236.03] Chad N: To their job and combines that with being a very public figure.
[243.03] Chad N: I'm sure they'll tell you the point in time at which it almost tipped them over the edge and that pretty much happened to me.
[251.03] Chad N: It wasn't it wasn't any one particular thing that did it but it was a multitude of things that slowly built up and for me.
[265.03] Chad N: It got to the point where I had to do something drastic about it or something drastic.
[272.03] Chad N: So I I just shut myself off from everything.
[280.03] Chad N: I just went I went to my quiet place like I'm normally a very vocal person as most people know and I don't mind being around people.
[291.03] Chad N: I don't mind speaking but when I go into defensive mode or not defensive mode, but when things get a bit would get things get too hard.
[305.03] Chad N: I go to the complete opposite way.
[306.03] Chad N: I go quiet my my whole family knows this when I go quiet.
[312.03] Chad N: There's something wrong and that's when they start even at the same time that's usually when I don't want to talk to anyone.
[318.03] Chad N: So I start getting angry at him and lots of stuff.
[322.03] Chad N: So yeah, so I just needed some time to myself and and work out what was going on.
[331.03] Chad N: And I think it's an interesting one because for probably two years now, certainly before I quit my full-time job.
[347.03] Chad N: Flying was like every single waking spare second that I wasn't working when I was working.
[352.03] Chad N: I was thinking about flying and stuff because I was so passionate about it.
[357.03] Chad N: And then when I quit my job and started doing flying full-time flying encompassed everything and there were aspects of it that became an issue.
[370.03] Chad N: I remember speaking to about this to Tommy and in funny enough, which is another controversial subject my very first vlog that I did.
[380.03] Chad N: I speak to a bit about it in in that with Tommy about how I noticed that I need to sub subjugate or split up my my fun flying with the quote-unquote professional flying.
[399.03] Chad N: So flying in front of a camera and flying with other people flying in competitions because there's a difference.
[407.03] Chad N: Essentially for me, there is a big difference between trying to make an episode for Roto Riot and flying with friends where the outcome is nothing but having fun.
[421.03] Chad N: It's not trying to outdo someone. It's not trying to learn a new move. It's just trying to have good fun and going home going home totally laughing.
[430.03] Chad N: I found myself the the weight scale. I found that the professional style flying was taking over the the the fun flying or the personal flying the passion flying probably 90 to 1.
[450.03] Chad N: And it was having a go at me. Combine that with no other way to put it the bullshit that seems to go on social media these days and I'm not going to point the finger at anyone because I know I'm I'm guilty of it as well.
[469.92] Chad N: But the negativity the hate the crap that goes on in in Facebook the Facebook warriors the swearing the the the pointing of the fingers as someone who probably still spends too much time on it like Facebook.
[486.92] Chad N: It's got that's kind of that's my the social media is my my outlet to way to build my brand build Roto Rides brand and plus I just like socializing.
[498.92] Chad N: When you're on there four to five day four to five hours a day, which I had been anyone will understand you tend to focus on the negative more than your focus on the positive and it just starts eating at you.
[513.92] Chad N: It just starts eating at you and it's not a good thing.
[517.92] Chad N: And when I had close friends start reaching out to me and basically telling me that I was becoming those hating people that I hated and knew something was going wrong and combine that with the fact with what was happening with the flying that it was everything was frustrating me so much to the point that I never wanted to go out flying just for fun.
[546.92] Chad N: It all start started wearing down to the point where my last trip over in LA I totally lost it at a Roto Rides shoot and walked out and just I can't do this guy's like I can't fucking do it.
[561.92] Chad N: And there's a number of reasons for doing that.
[563.92] Chad N: But yeah, I sat down.
[565.92] Chad N: I had a good talk with Capra and he was very understanding of the situation and I just decided shortly after that that I needed to have a break and I'm not one to say hey guys, I'm having a break because of this.
[579.92] Chad N: It was just kind of like look, I just got I've just got to go.
[581.92] Chad N: So I walked and I had some quiet time with me and the entire time.
[586.92] Chad N: I really just I wanted to focus on why I was doing what I was doing and the direction in which I was going versus the direction that I wanted to go and what I was passionate about and I basically just I got back to my roots about.
[611.36] Chad N: Doing what I'm passionate about and that really is just doing things like Roto Riot, which I'm very very passionate about.
[621.36] Chad N: There's a lot of people out there saying hey, have you have you left right or right?
[624.36] Chad N: No, it's not.
[625.36] Chad N: It's not the case.
[626.36] Chad N: It's just that I happen to be a bit like Carlos at the moment where I'm not around to do episodes plus the fact that I went quiet on on social media.
[636.36] Chad N: My presence within Roto Riot sort of disappeared.
[642.36] Chad N: So yeah, I'm still a part of Roto Riot, but I just needed some time to myself at that and that basically meant not flying up until about three days ago.
[652.36] Chad N: I hadn't done any flying for fun just for the pure fun since my trip to Ibiza.
[658.36] Chad N: I kind of remember when that was and I basically I haven't flown.
[664.36] Chad N: Hadn't really flown a quad at all since sort of mid December last year.
[670.36] Chad N: I just I've got batteries there that was charged from like two months ago that were still fully charged and yeah, I just I just needed time to find me and find what I'm passionate about for me.
[685.36] Chad N: It's it's it's not the fame.
[688.36] Chad N: It's not money.
[689.36] Chad N: And by the way, I don't make any money.
[691.36] Chad N: People seem to think that I've got this lavish life.
[694.36] Chad N: I don't make money.
[695.36] Chad N: I've I've I've probably spent all of my savings and I've had to sell things like my sale plane my glider that I own to keep this up because it's certainly not a high paying job at all.
[713.36] Chad N: I mean my dealings with right or right is to a holiday visa.
[718.36] Chad N: So I'm not allowed to get paid by right or right.
[721.36] Chad N: So I don't I've got to be very careful what I do in that regard.
[727.36] Chad N: So now I'm not dating a high paid job.
[730.36] Chad N: Yes, I'm getting some wonderful opportunities and getting to do some amazing things with some amazing people but that doesn't pay the bills.
[742.36] Chad N: And I've been slowly going backwards with my savings to a point where I'm reassessing what I need to do with my life to allow myself to continue on this path.
[756.36] Chad N: But yeah, I just needed to get back to the passion.
[760.36] Chad N: And three days ago, I started flying again for me, which is probably the most important thing that I could have done.
[773.36] Chad N: I'm not interested in putting a video out to try and improve prove that I'm the best freestyle the pilot in the world or I can invent a new trick that no one's ever seen or I can get footage that no one has ever seen.
[785.36] Chad N: I'm passionate about the stuff that I put out particularly on my YouTube channel and I will put that stuff out when I'm passionate and I've got something that I want to put out.
[795.36] Chad N: If I don't then I don't and that's why no one's seen anything on there for two months because I've just I've I've lost the passion.
[804.36] Chad N: Well, I shouldn't say I've lost the I had lost the passion.
[807.36] Chad N: It's slowly coming back again, but I don't want to push it and I actually put a GoPro on the on the quad for the first time yesterday and it didn't make me mad, which is a cool thing.
[820.36] Chad N: So I'm I'm looking forward to getting back to that with a new vigor and a new passion that I had many months ago that I'd previously lost.
[833.36] Chad N: So I guess I would I would say to a lot of people out there and there's so many people that are really pushing in this hobby.
[842.36] Chad N: You see them putting out videos. You see them making a name for themselves. I would only ask those people to ask themselves genuinely. Why are you doing this?
[854.36] Chad N: And what do you hope to achieve by doing it?
[859.36] Chad N: I think there's a there's a lot of people out there that that that want to make this a full-time career and I don't I got nothing against that.
[869.36] Chad N: I mean, I'm trying to do that as well. I would only say that this industry is still young.
[876.36] Chad N: So if you think you can make a couple of videos or win a couple of races and then become extremely well off or very very comfortable with money in this industry as a pilot.
[889.36] Chad N: I think you probably read need to reassess things because I don't know any pilots out there and I know all the top pilots unless I'm missing out on something.
[900.36] Chad N: I don't know any pilot out there that's making a good living doing this. They do it because they're very passionate and they're only just getting by the only people out there within the multirotor industry that are making money a manufacturer.
[913.36] Adam: That's it. So if you want to give you want to chase most industries, you know, if you do something creative and fun the chances of you making money as well are pretty limited.
[925.36] Chad N: Exactly. Yeah. So look if you want to do this because you're passionate about it, then go for it.
[932.36] Chad N: I'm not going to argue this is this is your life your decision and I'm still doing this because I'm passionate about it, but don't think that because you see a video of me in Ibiza flying around making videos don't think that it's all green on the other side.
[940.36] Chad N: I would say the only professional pilot out there that okay, I'll put it to you guys. Who do who do you guys think is the the pilot out there that's making the most money.
[948.36] Chad N: I read Johnny FPV is making a few quid but through sponsors and I read that today, but you know what the news is like.
[957.36] Chad N: It's all a load of rubbish. So who knows? Yeah, I I've heard it's Carlos because he's a Mexican drug lord. Yeah, he's a Mexican drug lord.
[972.99] Tony: Well, drug importing is a different thing altogether. I'm sure it's I'm sure it's somebody with a big rig who does videos for movies, you know, somebody does stuff the BBC. Yeah.
[990.99] Adam: Realistically the the people who fly FPV races the you see some people quoting. Oh, I'm making a reasonable living or oh that that kid one quarter of a million dollars the the reality of it is very very different.
[998.99] Chad N: And I'm sure it's I'm sure it's somebody with a big rig who does videos for movies, you know, somebody does stuff the BBC. Yeah.
[1006.99] Chad N: I don't know if I should mention who makes the most money, but I have a pretty good idea of who makes what and I'm pretty sure I know who makes the most money and I only know of one pilot that's making a full-time career on this with full-time type of money.
[1027.88] Chad N: And I'm pretty sure I know who makes the most money and I only know of one pilot that's making a full-time career on this with full-time type of wages and even he had to take a big pay cut to do what he's doing.
[1041.88] Chad N: And was that true? Yeah. Yeah, it's it's yeah, it's it's it's more through media rather than actually flying. So I mean, maybe I'm dwelling on this. I'm probably dwelling on this too much.
[1056.88] Chad N: But I think the realities need to be put out there. And I mean, I've been told in the past. Oh, well, look, if people think that you're making a lot of money, then that's good for the industry because then any future employers or sponsors that want to take you on will want to offer you more money because they think that the the level is higher.
[1081.88] Chad N: I just like to put some reality out there. We do it because we're passionate. And I still think that there is an industry coming up. But I mean, it's not this sort of like, oh, in six months, we're going to have millionaires or like rock stars on some stuff.
[1094.88] Chad N: It just doesn't work like that. So but yeah, speaking of an industry coming up, I was reading about a military project. Well, it's not military project.
[1109.13] Adam: The in one of the, you know, the tech websites today, they were talking about the quad bike, you know, flying quad bike. Oh, cool. Yeah. Yeah, apparently, that's now moving moving on a pace with military funding. So that's good. I want one.
[1133.13] Chad N: I want a bitch. We still haven't seen the hover bike. How long has it been since Back of the Future came out? We still haven't seen the hover bike. I mean, what's going on? No, there is the hover bike that goes across the lake.
[1151.13] Adam: Yeah, the Malloy hover bike is is on its way. Yeah, not right. Not right.
[1158.13] Jack: I mean, self lacing shoes for a start.
[1164.13] Adam: Yeah, that's hard and annoying thing that I have to do every day. It feels like somebody should have fixed.
[1170.13] Jack: And light up bottom shoes. They've done that.
[1174.13] Adam: Yeah, which I frankly, I didn't have a problem with I could usually see where I was going, or, you know, how much delight.
[1181.13] Chad N: I want the self adjusting self drying and talking vest.
[1185.13] Tony: Yes, we all want one of them. That's called a wife be internet.
[1192.13] Chad N: Yeah, we talk about we talk about all of the interesting and important FPV subjects here on less drawn out. So thank you.
[1201.13] Chad N: Everyone and we'll catch you next week. We did go off subject quite often.
[1207.13] Tony: It's what keeps our audience sane. I think we've all got eight minutes.
[1212.13] Jack: I think we've all got eight minutes to donate into the Patreon so that Tony can boost posts on Facebook that no one reads or is pointless because I never give him the links that he needs.
[1226.13] Chad N: I've offered him my login, but you know, it sounds very much like a bunch of bloody palms.
[1233.13] Jack: Yeah, I know.
[1235.13] Tony: Keeping it real, you know.
[1237.13] Jack: Driving me nuts and he gets all excited. You know, it brings me about eight times before the show.
[1244.13] Jack: It's because you're so bloody laid back. You don't give a shit about eight o'clock is eight o'clock. Nothing is going to change it.
[1252.13] Jack: Do you know what I mean?
[1254.13] Adam: Five past eight is eight o'clock.
[1257.13] Adam: Yeah.
[1258.13] Chad N: Yeah.
[1261.13] Chad N: For anyone listening outside of the Australia or England, this is where I want to point out this is what English people sound like all the time in our country.
[1271.13] Chad N: They just the bitch about the weather. They bitch about this. They bitch about that. Just never stop.
[1278.13] Adam: Jack Tony, you put me off the typical English whinging.
[1283.13] Adam: Britain and the British will continue to bitch forever and ever because around about 1935, Winston Churchill decided we would give up the empire to save the world from Hitler.
[1299.13] Adam: And we did. And now we're very upset about it.
[1303.13] Jack: I'm totally fine with it, man. You know, well, I'm glad there isn't around anymore. He's a complete jerk.
[1312.13] Adam: It was the right. I'm not saying it wasn't the right decision. I'm just saying you had a question.
[1320.13] Tony: To ask a sensible question again.
[1323.13] Chad N: We need to try and bring this. I was about to try and bring this back on topic.
[1329.13] Chad N: I just thought I'd let you guys go there.
[1331.13] Chad N: Go on then.
[1335.13] Jack: All right.
[1336.13] Jack: What I hate about the hobby is that you're pouring your heart out here, Jack.
[1343.13] Jack: Right. And someone's already thumbs down this video.
[1347.13] Jack: Have I?
[1348.13] Jack: Yeah.
[1350.13] Jack: Whoever that person is.
[1352.13] Jack: It probably was Jack.
[1353.13] Jack: It was in the last minute though, I think.
[1356.13] Chad N: I think that's probably because Tony is on it. We know everyone hates Tony. So we apologize for Tony's presence.
[1365.13] Chad N: It won't happen.
[1369.13] Chad N: Are you sure it's not our evil competitors?
[1374.13] Chad N: It's Trace Van Quad. Trace, you evil man.
[1378.13] Jack: He's allowed to do that. He's got a better podcast than us.
[1384.13] Jack: In the chat, Tom Smith, because I'm running it.
[1391.13] Jack: Tom Smith, once upon a time, you were flying quite dangerously.
[1397.13] Jack: I called you out on a video and I was like, dude, you are going to kill someone one of these days.
[1404.13] Jack: And you haven't yet.
[1406.13] Jack: I'd just like to apologize if I ruined the hobby by saying that to you.
[1412.13] Jack: If you can let me know if I'm a bad person.
[1415.13] Jack: Because like now, I've got Captain, well, it's C4PT1N54N0 commented.
[1430.13] Jack: As a first time viewer of your channel, I just went to watch your intro video containing footage of a drone that could have easily failed safety to any one of the people that it was being piloted around.
[1442.13] Jack: It's just stuff like that.
[1450.13] Chad N: I have an opinion on this.
[1458.13] Chad N: Anyone who gets into this kind of thing early on tends to become, I think, a bit of the Facebook police kind of thing.
[1470.13] Chad N: I know I've been there.
[1472.13] Chad N: I've pulled people aside and said, look, you were flying down your street.
[1476.13] Chad N: I think that's a little bit dangerous.
[1478.13] Chad N: Everyone's worried about what the governing organizations are going to do in terms of regulation.
[1487.13] Chad N: I mean, you're going to destroy the hobby with what your actions are and the government's going to see your video and they're going to ban everything.
[1497.13] Chad N: This has been going on since Trappie started flying his wings in places that he shouldn't have been flying it.
[1506.13] Chad N: If it was going to happen, it would have already happened.
[1510.13] Chad N: So the way that I look at it, there's two different scenarios that you can break this up into.
[1518.13] Chad N: Regulation and safety.
[1520.13] Chad N: Now, regulation is not up for interpretation because there's a set of rules that the government put out there.
[1526.13] Chad N: So you're either breaking regulation or you're not.
[1529.13] Chad N: Now, that's not for us to discuss.
[1533.13] Chad N: That's for the government organization, too.
[1535.13] Chad N: If they see your video and decide you're breaking regulation, you're going to get contacted and they're going to send you out of flying or put you to court.
[1541.13] Chad N: Simple as that.
[1544.13] Chad N: Then there's safety.
[1545.13] Chad N: And I've had so much to do with so many things that a lot of the regulation, to be honest, if I don't give a toss about, I hate the regulation.
[1556.13] Chad N: Most of the regulation that is out there has been written.
[1560.13] Jack: Whoa, the R word, man.
[1563.13] Jack: Yep.
[1565.13] Jack: We deserve that.
[1567.13] Jack: Slating Tony.
[1569.13] Jack: No, some of us are dyslexic on this podcast and we find that highly offensive, Chad.
[1577.13] Chad N: Well, that's good.
[1579.13] Jack: It's not our fault.
[1584.13] Chad N: The regulation is really up to the government authorities to enforce.
[1590.13] Chad N: And I hate a lot of the regulation out there because most of it was written before FPV even existed.
[1598.13] Chad N: As far as safety is concerned, safety is completely different to regulation.
[1605.13] Chad N: And safety is a personal opinion that changes from one person to the other.
[1613.13] Chad N: What I consider safe, someone else considers unsafe.
[1616.13] Chad N: And I think that's where we have our problems right there.
[1618.13] Chad N: To me, safety is satisfactorily mitigating risks.
[1624.13] Chad N: Not to a point where you're never going to have a problem.
[1627.13] Chad N: If you get to a point where you go two hours drive away from anyone around you so that you're not even within the flight path of anything, you rope it off and you put a cage over the top of it.
[1638.13] Chad N: That's the only way you're never going to have a problem.
[1640.13] Chad N: But what is the point of that?
[1642.13] Chad N: I mean, these places like the FAA, their whole existence is to ensure that what we do is safe.
[1652.13] Chad N: Now, if they looked hard enough at full-scale aviation, they'd find that dangerous.
[1658.13] Chad N: You take off, kill yourself.
[1660.13] Chad N: Why would you want to do that?
[1663.13] Chad N: The problem is there's always going to be risk there.
[1665.13] Chad N: So appropriately mitigating the risks is what I look for.
[1673.13] Chad N: And that's basically going around and going, look, is there a possibility that something, someone could get hurt or property could get hurt in a way that is kind of silly?
[1683.13] Chad N: So, for example, if you're flying over people or flying over a highway or something like that that's being used, that's not successfully mitigating the risks.
[1695.13] Chad N: I mean, we have fail safes all the time.
[1699.13] Chad N: ESCs burn out all the time and you fall out of the sky.
[1704.13] Chad N: Ensuring to the best that you possibly can that no one is going to walk into your flight area, that to me is appropriately mitigating the risks.
[1716.13] Chad N: That's what it comes down to.
[1718.13] Chad N: So just because you're flying in an urban environment, just because you're diving down the side of a building,
[1722.13] Chad N: just because you're doing something where maybe at some point in time doesn't mean that it's unsafe.
[1733.13] Chad N: It's how you go about that.
[1735.13] Chad N: And the one thing that I notice is a lot of people will judge videos based on the end product and they haven't seen what's going through that.
[1742.13] Chad N: Now, if someone's diving over a street full of people or cars or something like that and I've seen my fair share of them, then okay, yeah, I agree that that is dangerous.
[1755.13] Chad N: But at the same time, I don't agree with people jumping on and pointing fingers and saying that's inappropriate and I think we should call the FAA on you and lots of stuff.
[1772.13] Chad N: Because to me, in this day and age, it doesn't fix anything.
[1777.13] Chad N: Why do I know that it doesn't fix anything?
[1779.13] Chad N: Because I've been in that boat too.
[1781.13] Chad N: I've done that before and I've seen that all it does is just cause arguments and doesn't actually get anywhere.
[1787.13] Chad N: So if you don't like it, don't watch it and don't think that your actions by reacting to it and being an asshole on YouTube or Facebook because that's the way those people will see it.
[1803.13] Chad N: Don't think that your reaction is actually going to change their point of view.
[1806.13] Chad N: A lot of the times if there are someone who likes to act out, it's going to make them go out and do another retaliation video that's worse.
[1814.13] Chad N: If people are going to do it, they're going to do it.
[1817.13] Chad N: And if the governing body doesn't like it, then they're going to act on it.
[1822.13] Chad N: And as far as the rules about FPV, I think the rules in most countries are very, very antiquated.
[1829.13] Chad N: Like I said, most of these rules were written before FPV was even around and we're using this gray area to try and assume many rules and regulations.
[1840.13] Chad N: As far as safety is concerned, it's already there.
[1843.13] Chad N: Most of these countries already have rules, just like people who are worried about privacy.
[1850.13] Chad N: There's already privacy rules there.
[1852.13] Chad N: We already have them in place.
[1853.13] Chad N: Now someone is truly being dangerous and unsafe with regards to other people's safety and other people's property.
[1863.13] Chad N: All these governments already have the rules and regulations to crack down on them, put them in court and scare the crap out of them, give them a fine.
[1871.13] Chad N: So we don't need to rewrite the rules.
[1874.13] Chad N: What we need to rewrite is the government's understanding of what FPV is.
[1879.13] Chad N: Like in my country, in most of these countries, I must not go out of line of sight.
[1883.13] Chad N: So if I fly behind the back of my house or even behind a tree, I'm flying illegally.
[1888.13] Chad N: I mean, that's stupid.
[1890.13] Chad N: That is really stupid.
[1892.13] Chad N: But with regards to safety and privacy.
[1894.13] Chad N: Exactly. Exactly.
[1896.13] Chad N: But with regards to privacy and safety, they've already got that down pat because they've been dealing that for the aviation governing bodies.
[1907.13] Chad N: They've already been dealing with that for over 100 years.
[1910.13] Chad N: So it's nothing new to those bodies.
[1913.13] Jack: So, yeah.
[1915.13] Jack: Perverts and their ladders.
[1917.13] Jack: No, I'm like Tony.
[1919.13] Jack: Sydney trees.
[1921.13] Tony: Look at it.
[1923.13] Tony: I just go around rescuing people's quads out of trees.
[1925.13] Chad N: That's what I do.
[1927.13] Chad N: Are you the official quad whisperer?
[1930.13] Tony: I have a big pole.
[1932.13] Chad N: I've got a pole outside that I made from it's a wooden, a long wooden pole that's got a metal pole taped to it.
[1946.13] Chad N: And then it's got another bit of wood attached to it.
[1948.13] Chad N: And it can get a third of the way up the trees outside.
[1951.13] Chad N: And I combined that with a 20 foot ladder and I can usually get the quads out of the trees.
[1956.13] Chad N: My pole is 70 foot.
[1958.13] Tony: What you do with it that counts.
[1960.13] Adam: I thought Tony was talking about his gentleman's part.
[1964.54] Jack: I didn't think Tony talked about anything.
[1967.54] Jack: You know, the quad cop is just the extension of his pervert.
[1974.54] Jack: We're joined by B.
[1978.54] Jack: What is it? BMS?
[1980.54] Jack: BMS.
[1983.54] Paul: Hello Chad and hello everyone else.
[1986.54] Jack: Hi.
[1988.54] Jack: So I thought I'd even out the Aussies and the Pommies.
[1991.54] Jack: So there's three.
[1993.54] Jack: Yeah, three aside.
[1995.54] Jack: Sorry Jay, it doesn't matter how long you live here.
[1998.54] Jack: Even if you are up north, you're still southern hemisphere.
[2004.54] Adam: I'm quite proud of it.
[2006.54] Chad N: Pole's in the action now.
[2008.54] Chad N: So tell me Paul, what's going on in your neck of the woods?
[2012.54] Chad N: It's been a while since we've spoken.
[2014.54] Paul: Nothing spectacular.
[2016.54] Paul: The racing season is about to kick off for us.
[2018.54] Paul: I think as most of you guys would be aware, Thomas is into our...
[2022.54] Paul: Well, he really enjoys the racing.
[2024.54] Paul: So we're going to have our first race.
[2026.54] Paul: I think this is with the MMRC group this Sunday.
[2030.54] Paul: And then basically from there on, we'll just see how the year unfolds.
[2033.54] Paul: Thomas is in year 12.
[2035.54] Paul: So that may limit him in terms of what he can and can't do this year.
[2039.54] Paul: But look, he's enjoying it.
[2041.54] Paul: He's having fun flying.
[2044.54] Paul: So that's all that matters to him.
[2046.54] Tony: And he's good.
[2048.54] Paul: Yeah, well, I mean, look, I think that's the main thing.
[2052.54] Paul: He's been to a couple of international events
[2055.54] Paul: and done well at some of the bigger races here.
[2058.54] Paul: But yet, he'll go and do some smaller club things
[2061.54] Paul: and people are surprised that he's interested in doing those.
[2064.54] Paul: And I think what a lot of people don't get is the fact that he just loves flying.
[2067.54] Paul: So it doesn't matter whether he's flying at the World Drones or in Dubai
[2071.54] Paul: or flying with just a bunch of mates, you know what I mean?
[2075.54] Paul: It's all the same level of fun.
[2077.54] Paul: He goes out and races with some of the local guys and it's just as exciting.
[2083.97] Tony: And he's better than his old man.
[2085.97] Paul: Oh, that sucks, man.
[2087.97] Paul: I can't believe that he's actually...
[2089.97] Paul: I've worked so hard to try and I suppose bridge the gap between him
[2093.97] Paul: and I've actually improved phenomenally, especially in the last two months, right?
[2097.97] Paul: But whatever track we do, he's still a good three seconds faster than me.
[2101.97] Paul: It's just nuts.
[2103.97] Paul: I can't close the gap.
[2105.97] Paul: No matter how much I improve, the gap is still there.
[2107.97] Paul: It hasn't gotten any closer at all.
[2109.97] Tony: And young fingers and young brain.
[2112.97] Paul: Yeah, I just can't understand the rate of improvement that he's actually getting.
[2117.97] Paul: I don't understand how it works.
[2119.97] Paul: The way he was flying a month ago to the way he's flying now, it's completely different.
[2125.97] Jack: When he's old enough, climb with alcohol and just get him absolutely muntied
[2132.97] Jack: and seek your revenge then.
[2134.97] Jack: Slap him about a bit. He won't remember.
[2136.97] Jack: Kill a few of his brain cells.
[2138.97] Jack: Try and get him to drink a drone.
[2141.97] Jack: Then he's going to get his squad stuck in a tree.
[2144.97] Jack: That should slow him down a bit.
[2146.97] Paul: Actually, speaking of getting quads stuck in a tree, I got my DJI Mavic stuck in a tree
[2151.97] Paul: I think it was just over a week ago.
[2153.97] Paul: I was quite pleased with that.
[2155.97] Paul: Thomas just couldn't believe that I actually ran into a tree with all the obstacle avoidance and everything.
[2159.97] Paul: And the irony was I was trying to get a shot of Thomas and I was trying to follow him on this track
[2165.97] Paul: and I decided if I hold full left bank, I'd be able to do this awesome tracking shot.
[2170.97] Paul: And I couldn't keep up no matter how fast I went with the Mavic.
[2174.97] Paul: So I went a little bit further back and basically just try to time it
[2179.97] Paul: so I could get the speed up on the Mavic and I'd be able to track him on the whole shot.
[2182.97] Paul: And it was really good until all of a sudden I noticed all these branches
[2185.97] Paul: and this thing freakin' landed on the top of the highest tree in a park that we're at.
[2190.97] Tony: Are we going to get to see that?
[2192.97] Paul: Were you near a river?
[2194.97] Paul: Sorry?
[2196.97] Paul: Were you near a river?
[2198.97] Paul: No, we weren't. We're likely we were nowhere near water.
[2201.97] Paul: But it was this really, wasn't that high?
[2204.97] Paul: I'd probably say a good 30, 40 feet.
[2206.97] Adam: That's the wrong way if you need to get a thing down, isn't it?
[2209.97] Paul: Yeah, so I had to actually call upon an expert who, what's the guy's name to promise?
[2215.97] Paul: It's Piers, one of the local guys here who does, I think he does all sorts of climbing
[2220.97] Paul: and recovered it for me so that was pretty cool.
[2223.97] Paul: So I've got my Mavic back again.
[2225.97] Paul: But look, I felt really good. I mean, I'll crash my Mavic.
[2227.97] Paul: I feel like a real genuine pilot, you know what I mean?
[2231.97] Paul: I can fly as high as I like. I can do whatever I like.
[2233.97] Adam: And crash it.
[2235.97] Adam: How are you getting on with the Mavic?
[2238.97] Adam: Do you find it complains about the wind?
[2241.97] Paul: Look, it complains about the wind.
[2243.97] Paul: I think the biggest drama I had with the Mavic was, look, the quads that we fly,
[2248.97] Paul: I've only flown the quads that we fly, which are the ones flying in full acro mode,
[2252.97] Paul: so you do everything. And when you fly the Mavic, it just flies so frickin' different
[2256.97] Paul: to what we would call a conventional quad.
[2259.97] Paul: You're basically asking it to go left or go right.
[2262.97] Paul: I mean, throttle is basically up and down.
[2265.97] Paul: It's not really throttle, it's up and down.
[2266.97] Paul: Pitch forward is forward and back. It doesn't lose altitude, even in its sport mode.
[2271.97] Paul: So you're never actually really flying a quad.
[2273.97] Paul: When you realize that you're never actually really flying it,
[2276.97] Paul: it takes you a while to develop trust in the actual unit itself.
[2280.97] Paul: So that's probably the biggest issue I've had, actually trusting that it's going to do the right thing.
[2286.97] Paul: But it complains about wind, it complains about lots of things,
[2289.97] Paul: but it seems to be able to handle it.
[2291.97] Paul: I think the way DJI have actually set it up,
[2292.97] Paul: it's really going to pop up a shitload of bloody warnings for you
[2297.97] Paul: to make sure you don't get yourself into strife.
[2299.97] Adam: I find a lot of DJI things, and only two things regularly do warnings.
[2306.97] Adam: The old Inspire, which is always complaining that it doesn't have enough power, the first version.
[2312.97] Adam: And the Mavic, which is just every time I float, it's like,
[2316.97] Adam: oh, it's windy, I don't like it, I'm scared.
[2318.97] Adam: A little yellow box, you know, with a triangle.
[2322.97] Paul: Well, it's funny you say that, because I took it out, we're out in Phillip Island.
[2326.97] Paul: We're out in Phillip Island, it was really windy.
[2329.97] Paul: It was always reasonably windy, what I would have thought for the Mavic,
[2332.97] Paul: and it was complaining about the wind, so I thought...
[2334.97] Adam: But it carried on just fine.
[2336.97] Paul: It didn't seem to have any...
[2338.97] Paul: What I decided to do was fly against the wind, and it could,
[2342.97] Paul: and it was having no dramas at all, so I just flew out, got the shots I wanted, it was alright.
[2346.97] Paul: So, I think the way they've got it geared up...
[2349.97] Adam: You just get a scary message, but you don't need it.
[2351.97] Adam: Yeah, that's what I thought.
[2353.97] Jack: Sorry.
[2355.97] Jack: Was there a tree warding?
[2357.97] Paul: No.
[2359.97] Paul: Only if you're going forward.
[2361.97] Paul: Oh, I tried to fly through a gate.
[2363.97] Paul: I could fly through a gate.
[2365.97] Paul: With the obstacle avoidance on, I couldn't actually get it to fly through a gate.
[2369.97] Adam: I tried to fly the Inspire 2 into me, and it refused.
[2372.97] Adam: Oh, okay.
[2374.97] Chad N: I didn't have an obstacle.
[2376.97] Chad N: I didn't have an obstacle.
[2378.97] Adam: I needed to test it for the review.
[2381.97] Chad N: Did that deliberately?
[2383.97] Chad N: Yeah.
[2385.97] Chad N: I was going to duck if it all went wrong.
[2390.97] Chad N: If you ever have to try that again, please film it.
[2393.97] Adam: And do it towards your neck.
[2395.97] Adam: Make sure it's your neck, just for added impact.
[2400.97] Adam: No, I mean, I have to say I'm reflecting.
[2402.97] Adam: Great idea.
[2404.97] Adam: Anyway, next is your drone magazine, everyone.
[2406.97] Adam: Inspire 1 versus Inspire 2.
[2409.97] Jack: Cool.
[2411.97] Jack: The earth is definitely flat.
[2415.97] Tony: Have we got any people in the chat wanting to ask anyone, Chad, any questions?
[2421.97] Jack: Yeah, there is, actually.
[2423.97] Jack: Fire or what?
[2425.97] Jack: Tom Smith says, more Chad, less DGI.
[2428.97] Jack: Chad, start talking, mate.
[2432.97] Chad N: Okay, yeah, sorry.
[2435.97] Adam: He needs a moment to breathe.
[2438.97] Jack: Yeah, Chad, have you ever made out with Tommy?
[2442.97] Chad N: Have I made out with Tommy?
[2445.97] Chad N: Well, he did go on a mandate.
[2447.97] Chad N: That was actually kind of nice.
[2451.97] Chad N: I do like Tommy.
[2453.97] Chad N: He's the suave one, though.
[2455.97] Chad N: If I had to get married with any of the right or right guys,
[2459.97] Chad N: it would definitely be Tommy.
[2462.97] Chad N: But I'd be having an affair with Carlos.
[2465.97] Chad N: I mean, seriously, you can't knock Carlos back.
[2471.97] Jack: Surely he is the one making the most money because he works for Pixar.
[2475.97] Chad N: Oh, yeah.
[2479.31] Chad N: I don't know how much money he makes exactly.
[2483.31] Jack: Oh, Pixar money must be great.
[2486.31] Jack: It's Disney, mate.
[2487.31] Jack: You know what I mean?
[2489.31] Paul: For an evil corporation.
[2493.31] Jack: Yeah.
[2497.31] Chad N: Of course, yeah, of course.
[2500.82] Chad N: Now, Carlos is very, very passionate about what he does.
[2504.82] Chad N: He always said, look, I'd love to fly quads full time.
[2512.82] Chad N: But he said, I've got a job that I'm still very passionate about.
[2516.82] Chad N: The money is good as well.
[2519.82] Chad N: And so we have a full understanding why he's very busy because he's
[2526.82] Chad N: got two passions and one of them he gets paid to do.
[2531.82] Chad N: So he's very lucky in that regard.
[2536.82] Chad N: And we're just happy to have Carlos whenever we can get him to be quite
[2540.82] Chad N: honest.
[2542.82] Chad N: He's always going.
[2544.82] Chad N: I don't feel like I'm contributing enough and it's like Carlos just every
[2548.82] Chad N: time you turn up, it's that little bit, little nugget of gold, which is
[2552.82] Chad N: which makes it all worthwhile.
[2554.82] Chad N: So we've got a lot of time for Carlos.
[2556.82] Jack: I think you should just get a cardboard Carlos and get him to animate it,
[2561.82] Jack: you know, when he's not there.
[2563.82] Chad N: What we were going to do, I actually wanted to ask Christian who edit the
[2567.82] Chad N: videos, I want him to go through all the old road to ride videos and we will
[2573.82] Chad N: basically get all the different sayings that he says and put them on a
[2577.82] Chad N: randomizer and then put them behind that cardboard cut out and they were just
[2581.82] Chad N: out of nowhere.
[2583.82] Chad N: Let's make a video.
[2585.82] Jack: Yeah. Oh man. Carlos soundboard would be wicked.
[2589.82] Jack: Someone get on that.
[2591.82] Chad N: Wait, wait, wait, wait.
[2593.82] Chad N: Well, look.
[2595.82] Jack: Can you imagine a Carlos sound for the terrain?
[2599.82] Chad N: Well, it's funny you mentioned that.
[2602.82] Chad N: So ready, I'm going to put this up to my microphone.
[2605.82] Chad N: I'm happy I can hear this.
[2611.91] Chad N: Did that come out?
[2613.91] Chad N: No, not really.
[2616.91] Chad N: Try it.
[2618.91] Chad N: It's Carlos.
[2620.91] Chad N: It's Carlos in one of his one of his stupid sayings, which I've put on there.
[2624.91] Chad N: So both me and Tommy
[2626.91] Chad N: have got Carlos sayings on the start-up of our Terenas.
[2630.91] Jack: Oh, mate.
[2632.91] Jack: I'll always remember the bit.
[2633.91] Jack: It was like killing an animal.
[2636.91] Jack: That was the, you know, like not removing the props.
[2641.91] Jack: It's fine. I'm sharp.
[2643.91] Jack: And we were kicking it and it was like trying to kill an animal.
[2647.91] Jack: Obviously Tony's not down with that, but I was like, holy shit.
[2651.91] Jack: By the way, Dan Upton texted me.
[2653.91] Jack: He says Dreamworks, not Pixar.
[2655.91] Jack: You idiot.
[2657.91] Jack: He knows.
[2659.91] Jack: I know.
[2661.91] Chad N: I was going to point you out on that.
[2664.91] Chad N: He's not a part of Disney.
[2666.91] Chad N: Don't correct.
[2667.91] Chad N: Don't correct the English people.
[2668.91] Chad N: They hate that.
[2671.91] Adam: It gives us something to apologize about.
[2673.91] Adam: We love apologizing.
[2674.91] Adam: That's all.
[2676.91] Adam: Right.
[2678.91] Jack: We have other questions.
[2682.91] Jack: Hang on.
[2683.91] Jack: I have got a statement.
[2686.91] Jack: Our Swishy or our W.
[2690.91] Jack: I.S.
[2691.91] Jack: Hey, no, CHY FPV Chad.
[2694.91] Jack: Why haven't you set up a Patreon page considering what you put into the
[2698.91] Jack: sport slash hobby?
[2701.91] Chad N: It's something that I have considered.
[2704.91] Chad N: So my my YouTube channel is monetized.
[2708.91] Chad N: I did that years ago because someone said, hey, you should monetize the channel.
[2712.91] Chad N: But I use I use the songs that I was either listening to or sends the
[2717.91] Chad N: message or something.
[2719.91] Chad N: I'm passionate about and 99% of the time those songs copyrighted.
[2725.91] Chad N: I fully know that using them and I'm fine with that knowing that I'm not
[2729.91] Chad N: going to be able to make any money on it.
[2731.91] Chad N: And the YouTube my YouTube channel is it's a way to express my emotions.
[2739.91] Chad N: I don't want to be hey, guys, if I make a video once a week or whatever.
[2746.91] Chad N: That's going to make me more money.
[2748.91] Chad N: I it's my passion and I want to keep it that way.
[2751.91] Chad N: That said, yeah, I've I've considered Patreon Patreon, whatever you want to
[2756.91] Chad N: call it.
[2757.91] Chad N: People have have suggested that to me.
[2764.91] Chad N: I kind of look at the grand scheme of things and I go, okay, well, is this
[2768.91] Chad N: going to make me require me to upload at a consistent rate?
[2774.91] Chad N: Are people going to be disappointed if I if I don't can upload a consistent
[2780.91] Chad N: rate because they're putting money in in Patreon and all those kinds of things.
[2789.91] Chad N: They're all something I think about.
[2791.91] Chad N: But I've been thinking lately about opening one of those accounts and just
[2795.91] Chad N: saying, look, if you want to put forward, then great.
[2799.91] Chad N: I'm not going to push it.
[2800.91] Chad N: I'm not going to mention on every single one of my videos.
[2803.91] Chad N: And I'm not going to guarantee that I bring a video out once a week or twice
[2807.91] Chad N: a week or whatever.
[2808.91] Chad N: It's it's when I'm doing what I'm doing.
[2810.91] Chad N: So I I guess so long as if people want to help me out and it's not requiring
[2817.91] Chad N: me to split from what my intentions are for things like that.
[2824.91] Chad N: YouTube channel, then that's fine.
[2826.91] Chad N: But I don't know.
[2828.91] Chad N: I'm a bit stubborn in my I've got a very strict sense set of morals and
[2834.91] Chad N: guidelines that I like to live by.
[2836.91] Chad N: It most certainly is not the most financially well-off way to live.
[2842.91] Chad N: But it's it's the way that it's the way that my body ticks to keep me
[2849.91] Chad N: passionate about the things that I do.
[2851.91] Chad N: So I've made a lot of decisions where I've knocked back opportunities
[2857.91] Chad N: for money for lots of moral reasons.
[2861.91] Chad N: You can look in that both ways with your class.
[2863.91] Chad N: That is right or wrong really comes down to how you view your morals in life
[2870.91] Chad N: and they all change.
[2871.91] Chad N: But yeah, I'm considering it.
[2873.91] Chad N: I'm considering it.
[2874.91] Chad N: I know that I spoke in the poll about things like monetizing YouTube
[2879.91] Chad N: accounts on some stuff and I know he's made a not a large amount of money
[2885.91] Chad N: but a bit of money there that's gone into buying things like microphones
[2888.91] Chad N: and things like that for his YouTube channel, BMS Web.
[2892.91] Chad N: Don't lie.
[2893.91] Jack: He spent it on the Mavic because he's ruined his warranty and he flew it
[2897.91] Jack: into a tree.
[2898.91] Jack: Exactly, exactly.
[2900.91] Paul: I might want to actually purchase that for me.
[2902.91] Paul: By the way, we've got Thomas here too.
[2904.91] Paul: Hello.
[2905.91] Paul: Yeah, I can hear him in the background.
[2907.91] Chad N: Thomas.
[2909.91] Chad N: Yeah, so I mean, what's your thoughts on all that stuff on Patreon
[2914.91] Chad N: and making money?
[2916.91] Chad N: What have you tried to do in your time?
[2919.91] Chad N: Because I mean, you've got a bigger, more subscribers than I do, I think.
[2925.91] Chad N: Well, you've got like 100,000 or something like that, subscribers, don't you, Paul?
[2928.91] Paul: No, no, no, no.
[2929.91] Paul: On the time channel, I think we're at about 30,000 mark.
[2932.91] Paul: We're just under 30,000 mark.
[2933.91] Paul: We haven't, we're not, you guys, you've shot right up.
[2936.91] Paul: But no, look, as far as Patreon goes, I had a number of people ask me to do that.
[2941.91] Paul: Now, I can see everyone's doing it, but I just, I just feel it's wrong
[2946.91] Paul: to take money off people that are watching our videos, which I, like I said,
[2952.91] Paul: just doesn't sit right with me.
[2953.91] Paul: So I know, I just, I don't, I don't get it.
[2956.91] Paul: I don't understand why anyone should have to pay money to Thomas and myself,
[2963.91] Paul: you know, for putting out videos.
[2965.91] Paul: I don't know.
[2966.91] Paul: That's just my thoughts on it.
[2967.91] Paul: I mean, am I stupid or what?
[2968.91] Paul: I don't know.
[2969.91] Chad N: Yeah.
[2970.91] Chad N: Yeah, I, we have the same, we have the same sort of thought train there.
[2978.91] Chad N: I'm doing something that I'm passionate about and there's, I don't want that
[2985.32] Chad N: passion to be undermined with the responsibility of keeping the customers
[2992.32] Chad N: quote unquote happy with the quantity of the content.
[2997.32] Chad N: So like, I mean, my whole missing in action section, would the Patreon people
[3004.32] Chad N: be happy with that if I just didn't post for two months?
[3008.32] Chad N: I don't know.
[3009.32] Jack: Maybe they would, but I think as long as we know, you're not dead.
[3015.32] Jack: Do you know what I mean?
[3016.32] Jack: Because it would be different if it was a sort of like funeral fund because we
[3021.32] Jack: know how emotionally unstable you are and we respect that.
[3025.32] Jack: You know, we just want you to live.
[3028.32] Jack: Yeah.
[3030.32] Jack: Do you know what I mean?
[3032.32] Jack: Yeah.
[3033.32] Jack: I just want to know that you're right.
[3035.32] Chad N: The way that I look at it is there's so much stuff out there.
[3039.32] Chad N: Like I've had these offers of money that if you don't have full time
[3045.32] Chad N: employment somewhere else, it's kind of loose change.
[3049.32] Chad N: And I know lots of small stuff adds up to something decent after a while.
[3055.32] Chad N: But I mean, it's kind of like sponsors that want to pay me $500 a month to
[3063.32] Chad N: use their gear that undermines my morals as a pilot to be able to truly be
[3073.32] Chad N: independent and do what I want.
[3077.57] Chad N: I know there's people out there that seem to think that I'm one sided on things
[3081.57] Chad N: and that's never going to change.
[3083.57] Chad N: But I want my to be able to do what I want.
[3086.57] Chad N: And I know, look, as a sponsored pilot, you get free gear and lots of stuff.
[3091.57] Chad N: But to me, cash kind of if someone's going to offer me enough money to live
[3097.57] Chad N: on, okay, then that's a slightly different deal.
[3102.57] Chad N: And that's where you need to reassess things.
[3105.57] Chad N: Everyone's got their price.
[3106.57] Chad N: But for a small amount of money, you're, I'm not going to say selling out.
[3113.57] Chad N: You're giving a lot of yourself away and putting a lot of yourself at risk
[3119.57] Chad N: and your brand and your reputation at risk for very little gain.
[3126.57] Chad N: Now, I think a lot of people out there, like they follow pilots that are well known.
[3132.57] Chad N: I think a lot of people would be quite surprised that what some pilots get for
[3137.57] Chad N: what they do that they don't tell the general public about.
[3140.57] Chad N: And some people would be fine with that.
[3142.57] Chad N: Some people wouldn't.
[3143.57] Chad N: But I can go out there and say the stuff that I use is because I'm genuinely
[3149.57] Chad N: passionate about it.
[3151.57] Chad N: There's no monetary, there is no monetary swing in this.
[3157.57] Chad N: And they go, oh, you get free gear.
[3159.57] Chad N: I say, well, look, I fly a KISS right now.
[3161.57] Chad N: I could just as easily go to race flight and get the same amount of stuff from them.
[3165.57] Chad N: So it's not the stuff that I'm getting.
[3167.57] Chad N: But I fly with what I'm passionate about and knowing that if I went to someone else,
[3175.57] Chad N: they'd probably be happy to have me on board.
[3180.57] Chad N: So yeah, the whole money thing is an interesting one.
[3185.57] Chad N: And I'm reassessing my financial position at the moment.
[3191.57] Chad N: And I'm actually talking to some large companies about how I can help them.
[3198.57] Chad N: And these companies are all over the place just with some of the ties that I know
[3204.57] Chad N: about me working on contract work or full-time work with these people to help
[3209.57] Chad N: research and development.
[3211.57] Chad N: I love making new and cool shit rather than hype train stuff.
[3216.57] Chad N: I like to make stuff that is genuinely improvement.
[3219.57] Chad N: But I also know that a lot of this stuff is plateauing.
[3223.57] Chad N: The game that we're getting is less and less.
[3225.57] Chad N: So I like to work with companies as a sponsored pilot to improve their product
[3232.57] Chad N: of what I already think is good.
[3233.57] Chad N: But I'm getting the chance now to work with some of the bigger companies and maybe
[3237.57] Chad N: some outside companies that don't have much to do with FPV to get more seriously
[3242.57] Chad N: in the research and development side of things.
[3244.57] Chad N: So that's kind of an interesting thing.
[3246.57] Chad N: So yeah, Patreon's something I'm thinking about to get back to the original question,
[3251.57] Chad N: something I'm thinking about.
[3252.57] Chad N: But reality, it's kind of a little change for someone who does this full-time.
[3260.57] Chad N: And yeah, I've got to think about it some more.
[3264.57] Jack: That was a very long answer.
[3267.57] Jack: I quite like some people's approaches to Patreon,
[3271.57] Jack: regards that I'm sure you get sent a lot of free things, right?
[3277.57] Jack: Like you know the RC model review.
[3280.57] Jack: You probably get sent a free, a couple of samples or whatever.
[3284.57] Jack: I think if you just did a little bit of bonus content or gave out those little
[3289.57] Jack: free bits or a couple of final glide stickers,
[3293.57] Jack: I think the change would be quite nice to be part of an intimate circle with you.
[3298.57] Jack: Do you know what I mean, to help out?
[3300.57] Jack: That's definitely a possibility.
[3302.57] Chad N: I would answer that only by saying to give all that stuff away,
[3306.57] Chad N: I actually need to get it.
[3308.57] Chad N: I actually knock back probably 95% of the stuff out there.
[3314.57] Chad N: The only stuff that I really accept is stuff that I go,
[3319.57] Chad N: actually that looks kind of cool.
[3321.57] Chad N: I hate accepting free stuff just because I'm a well-known personality
[3326.57] Chad N: just for the sake of getting free stuff.
[3328.57] Chad N: So a couple of times a week, I probably get,
[3332.57] Chad N: hey, I've got a new frame.
[3333.57] Chad N: If I send it out to you, will you fly it and tell me what you think about it?
[3339.57] Chad N: Unless it's something that's really new or different
[3342.57] Chad N: or really gets my interest, I usually say,
[3346.57] Chad N: that looks really cool but no, thank you.
[3351.57] Chad N: Mainly because I don't want to feel like I'm just taking free shit
[3356.57] Chad N: because I'm somebody that doesn't feel right for me.
[3360.57] Chad N: In the same reason that Paul doesn't like, what's that?
[3366.57] Jack: You're a HQ pilot, isn't you?
[3369.57] Chad N: Yeah, I used to get a whole heap of complete random and crazy props from Zong
[3375.57] Chad N: and I used to get a lot and I actually told him stop.
[3379.57] Chad N: When I need some, I will give you some.
[3383.57] Chad N: So I've got maybe four bags of my own V1S signature prop
[3391.57] Chad N: and a couple of different types that I use for testing lots of stuff
[3396.57] Chad N: but I certainly don't have a massive box.
[3399.57] Chad N: I did at some stage and I went to some fun flies with group fly meets
[3404.57] Chad N: and I gave them all away and I said to Zong,
[3406.57] Chad N: I said, please stop giving me all this stuff
[3409.57] Chad N: because I don't use it and I don't want to waste it.
[3412.57] Chad N: So yeah, I could do that but I'd have to start accepting that stuff
[3418.57] Chad N: and you do bring up a good point but I just wanted to point out
[3422.57] Chad N: I don't get a complete huge load of free stuff simply because I knock it back
[3427.57] Chad N: because it doesn't feel right for me to accept it.
[3430.57] Jack: Yeah, no worries.
[3432.57] Jack: I wasn't saying you've made a new house out of the new stuff.
[3436.57] Chad N: But the stuff that I do get, I do tend to give it away.
[3442.57] Chad N: So that is another option that I can think of.
[3445.57] Chad N: So thanks for bringing that up.
[3447.57] Jack: Yeah.
[3448.57] Jack: Can I go ask what ideas and ambitions does Chad have in this year for FPV?
[3459.57] Tony: My ambitions?
[3461.57] Jack: Yeah.
[3462.57] Tony: Come to the UK.
[3463.57] Tony: That's interesting, isn't it?
[3465.57] Tony: Yeah, that's well worth it.
[3468.57] Chad N: Last year, I did a lot of traveling with Ride or Ride.
[3478.57] Chad N: I visited so many amazing places and I want to do it some more.
[3485.57] Jack: For a minute then, I thought, yeah, I visited loads of amazing places
[3490.57] Jack: and I thought, why ruin it by going to see the UK?
[3495.57] Jack: I was willing for you to say that.
[3500.57] Adam: I think you scared off from the wind.
[3502.57] Chad N: No, not quite.
[3504.57] Chad N: I mean, I did a lot.
[3506.57] Chad N: To an extent, I'm over-traveling.
[3509.57] Chad N: But I know it's part of my quote-unquote job.
[3514.57] Chad N: It's what I've got to do.
[3516.57] Chad N: And I enjoy going out to a new place and I enjoy meeting.
[3519.57] Chad N: I hate the actual traveling.
[3520.57] Chad N: I hate the time zone changes.
[3522.57] Chad N: After a while, it nearly kills you.
[3524.57] Chad N: But I really enjoy doing it.
[3527.57] Chad N: And a bit more of a trip to Europe and England is what I want to do next.
[3535.57] Chad N: They're my plans that I personally want to do next,
[3538.57] Chad N: whether I do that through Ride or Ride or through by myself, we'll find out.
[3544.57] Chad N: And it's funny, you mentioned that because at tonight, actually,
[3551.57] Chad N: it's morning here tonight, I'm jumping on a plane.
[3554.57] Chad N: I'm flying to Switzerland.
[3556.57] Chad N: It's not really to go out and fly with people.
[3560.57] Chad N: It's more business-orientated.
[3562.57] Chad N: I'm talking to some people over there for some business reasons.
[3567.57] Chad N: And I've also heard that there's so much snow there at the moment
[3571.57] Chad N: that I probably won't be doing much flying anyway.
[3573.57] Chad N: I really hope to get out and do some flying.
[3575.57] Chad N: And when I do, if I get a chance,
[3579.57] Chad N: I'm going to find some people to fly with and lots of stuff.
[3582.57] Chad N: But yeah, I want to do some more traveling.
[3588.57] Chad N: To answer the question, two parts.
[3594.57] Chad N: Ride or Ride has a mission statement which has always been part of my goal
[3602.57] Chad N: and one of the reasons why I'm passionate about Ride or Ride.
[3605.57] Chad N: That's to grow the hobby, educate people and inspire people
[3610.57] Chad N: as well as entertaining them.
[3612.57] Chad N: And that has always been my goal there.
[3618.57] Chad N: So I plan to do that.
[3620.57] Chad N: One of my other plans this year is to look after me.
[3626.57] Chad N: I've put so much of myself aside to try and build this brand
[3632.57] Chad N: and go forth in this that this year I've realized I need to look after me
[3638.57] Chad N: because even if I'm doing something I'm passionate about,
[3641.57] Chad N: if you forget your needs as a person, a human being,
[3646.57] Chad N: that you can be unhappy still doing something you're passionate about.
[3653.57] Chad N: So yeah, doing what I'm doing within Ride or Ride plus looking after number one.
[3658.57] Chad N: So yeah, that's me.
[3660.57] Tony: It was good to go home and get your mojo back then.
[3664.57] Chad N: Yeah, I go home say every three months
[3668.57] Chad N: but I'd go home for say a week or two and then be on a plane somewhere else again.
[3673.57] Chad N: So I've only been home for what, around three weeks now
[3680.57] Chad N: but I did have a point in time over in America
[3683.57] Chad N: where I was completely away from all of the quad flying stuff.
[3692.57] Chad N: I was with my girlfriend over there, Kathleen,
[3695.57] Chad N: just having some quiet time, just trying to disconnect from it all.
[3699.57] Chad N: So I've pretty much had a month of just nothing to do with quads
[3703.57] Chad N: or very, very little to do with quads and enjoyed it.
[3707.57] Chad N: I think I needed it.
[3708.57] Tony: Yeah, sometimes it's a good idea.
[3710.57] Jack: Who would you be more mad at catching her kiss, Sharpeau or Tommy?
[3717.57] Jack: Wait, say that again.
[3719.57] Jack: Who would you be more mad?
[3722.57] Jack: What would make you more angry?
[3724.57] Jack: Her making out with Sharpeau or Tommy?
[3734.65] Adam: Hey, thank you.
[3737.65] Adam: Yeah, thinking about that a bit too much.
[3739.65] Adam: I think the thing to do is just don't jack off for a weird question.
[3743.65] Chad N: I have nowhere to answer that question.
[3747.65] Jack: He said he'd marry Tommy but Sharpeau would be his, you know,
[3753.65] Jack: Carlos would be his mistress and I'm wondering, his girlfriend,
[3758.65] Jack: what would he be more upset about between the two of them?
[3763.65] Jack: Right, I'll have a quick look at the comments.
[3768.65] Jack: One last one then because we've gone over by half an hour.
[3773.65] Tony: Yeah, no worries.
[3774.65] Tony: Dad's been up since six.
[3776.65] Tony: It's six where he is.
[3777.65] Tony: So thanks very much for getting up early.
[3780.65] Jack: No way, Sharpeau's in the comments by the way.
[3783.65] Jack: Oh, look out.
[3785.65] Jack: And the artist goes in and out of motivation.
[3788.65] Jack: It's the normal process.
[3792.65] Jack: Holy shit, Sharpeau's here.
[3796.65] Jack: Yep, very, very true.
[3799.65] Jack: Is it true that you and Chad are engaged?
[3807.65] Jack: You missed the man which with you Chad and Tommy.
[3810.65] Jack: I feel bad now.
[3811.65] Jack: I think we should stay on for Carlos.
[3816.65] Tony: Has Carlos got a camera and mic?
[3821.65] Tony: I have no idea.
[3822.65] Chad N: We'll see if we can organize that another time.
[3826.65] Chad N: You've got to find one more decent question.
[3830.65] Adam: Tony's just so eager.
[3832.65] Adam: Tony's like, ah!
[3833.65] Adam: He's like, could you ever want to stop?
[3835.65] Tony: One more then Jack.
[3836.65] Chad N: Good question.
[3838.65] Chad N: See, we're putting the pressure on Jack now.
[3841.65] Chad N: Oh God.
[3843.65] Chad N: He's lurking.
[3844.65] Chad N: He's lurking.
[3846.65] Chad N: These questions are coming in live, right?
[3848.65] Jack: Yeah.
[3849.65] Jack: They are.
[3850.65] Chad N: Okay, yeah.
[3851.65] Chad N: I'm officially asking the people out there one more good question and then we can wrap
[3855.65] Chad N: it up.
[3856.65] Chad N: We're not going to leave until you ask one more.
[3860.65] Jack: Just seeing your video looks awesome.
[3864.65] Chad N: Videos.
[3865.65] Chad N: Thoughts on D shot.
[3868.65] Chad N: The difference between the actual protocol, very little to none.
[3875.65] Chad N: One shot, one, two, five.
[3876.65] Chad N: One shot, 42.
[3877.65] Chad N: Multi-shot.
[3878.65] Chad N: D shot.
[3879.65] Chad N: Can't tell the difference.
[3880.65] Chad N: Can't tell the difference.
[3884.65] Chad N: Felix always, he said to me right off from the bat, he goes, the only reason why I brought
[3889.65] Chad N: out one shot, 42 was to, that was just a stab at the multi-shot guys.
[3896.65] Chad N: I totally agree.
[3898.65] Chad N: I have absolutely no difference in it.
[3902.15] Chad N: I know people like Joshua Bardwell have done tests, but I'm sorry.
[3905.15] Chad N: I see no difference in it.
[3908.15] Chad N: And I've tested them as much as I possibly can.
[3912.15] Chad N: And Felix has always said the same thing to me.
[3914.15] Chad N: It doesn't make any difference.
[3917.15] Chad N: The difference in D shot is it kind of opens up so many other abilities.
[3923.15] Chad N: It's not necessarily in the flying.
[3925.15] Chad N: It may make that feel better later on with other things that you can do.
[3931.15] Chad N: But there's so many other things, things like never needing to calibrate the ESC ever
[3935.15] Chad N: again, a digital signal, which means it's going to be clean as signal coming through.
[3941.15] Chad N: So you get less inaccurate signals going through.
[3945.15] Chad N: And even if it does have a bad signal that goes through, it can, it verifies each one
[3954.15] Chad N: of the signals and throws a bad signal out.
[3956.15] Chad N: So it's just got all these small things that can help in other ways.
[3960.15] Chad N: But if you go from one shot 125, one shot 42, multi shot, and D shot 600, you won't
[3969.15] Chad N: feel a difference in the way that it flies.
[3972.15] Chad N: The difference is in the firmware and the ESC hardware.
[3976.15] Chad N: That's the difference there.
[3978.15] Chad N: Sorry, when I say firmware, flight controller firmware.
[3981.15] Chad N: That's the difference that people are feeling.
[3984.15] Chad N: And I remember that because I mean, I was probably quad mover and myself were the first
[3991.15] Chad N: people to test D shot when Felix first came out of it, other than Felix himself.
[3998.15] Chad N: And it didn't have any changes.
[4002.15] Chad N: It was just D shot that was changed.
[4004.15] Chad N: There's no changes to the firmware filter software or anything like that.
[4007.15] Chad N: It was just D shot and I tested it and I went, I don't feel a difference.
[4012.15] Chad N: So yeah, I feel a difference.
[4014.15] Chad N: But the difference is a multitude of D shot 600 plus the filter software to suit that
[4020.15] Chad N: and lots of stuff.
[4021.15] Chad N: So yeah, the D shot itself, I don't feel a difference.
[4024.15] Chad N: It's a combination of things, but it does have advantages and it is worthwhile going
[4030.15] Chad N: to for other reasons.
[4032.15] Chad N: And Joshua Bardwell did do a very good series on one shot, one, two, five, multi shot,
[4039.15] Chad N: lots of stuff and then D shot to explain the differences.
[4042.15] Chad N: So that's one area that Joshua does do very well.
[4047.15] Chad N: He's very good at speaking the technical stuff and probably one of the reasons why I haven't
[4051.15] Chad N: really delved into that because he does a really good job there.
[4055.15] Chad N: There's no point in me doubling up on that and he covers those topics well.
[4060.15] Chad N: So if you want to learn those things, go over to Joshua's channel and as he said,
[4065.15] Chad N: today I'm going to teach you something.
[4066.15] Chad N: You're going to learn something.
[4068.15] Tony: Yeah, that's it.
[4069.15] Jack: You're going to learn something.
[4071.15] Jack: Yeah.
[4072.15] Jack: Yeah.
[4073.15] Jack: The only the only thing is with KISS is there's no clear, you know, there's no clear official
[4084.15] Jack: release, is there, for D shot?
[4086.15] Jack: You have to go into the RC forums to get it.
[4090.15] Chad N: Yes.
[4092.15] Chad N: They had a release that I'm not sure if they are at the moment because I'm always testing
[4101.15] Chad N: stuff.
[4102.15] Chad N: So they came out with, you think it was the RC 1.6 or whatever and that was intended to
[4109.15] Chad N: be the latest stable release and that's what all of the flight controllers get shipped
[4113.15] Chad N: out on.
[4114.15] Chad N: I believe that's what they're doing, but don't quote me.
[4118.15] Chad N: Well, I was testing that and the other group of people were testing that for stable release.
[4123.15] Chad N: We're also testing D shot 600 and at the time we kind of came to the conclusion that it
[4131.15] Chad N: was still too early in the game to put that on a stable release and that's why it's still
[4136.15] Chad N: separate, but I'm sure that'll come out on a stable release at some point in time.
[4141.15] Chad N: That said, it's been a very, very, very, very long time since I've had a problem with anything
[4149.15] Chad N: D shot.
[4150.15] Chad N: So I started testing D shot well before the Ibiza trip and by the time Hawaii came around,
[4160.15] Chad N: I was not, I haven't had a single problem with D shot since then.
[4163.15] Chad N: So I would class the D shot protocol to be mature enough that it's perfectly stable,
[4170.15] Chad N: at least on KISS.
[4171.15] Chad N: I haven't tried it on beta flight yet, so I can't comment on that, but on KISS at least
[4176.31] Chad N: I would class it as stable, but it just hasn't been implemented into the stable release.
[4181.59] Chad N: I don't think it has, but I could be wrong.
[4186.35] Chad N: The month or so that I've been offline, I haven't really been taking notice of what's
[4189.35] Chad N: going on.
[4190.35] Chad N: So I could be wrong.
[4191.35] Jack: Cool.
[4192.35] Jack: No worries.
[4193.35] Jack: All right.
[4194.35] Jack: Yeah.
[4195.35] Jack: Thank you, everyone, for tuning in.
[4197.35] Jack: And thank you, Richard, for the people that are still with me.
[4203.35] Jack: Yeah.
[4204.35] Jack: It's really impressive.
[4205.35] Jack: I know.
[4206.35] Jack: Sorry.
[4207.35] Jack: It's been a long one, but yeah, I don't know.
[4210.35] Jack: I think we just covered some really important things like, you know, it's glad to know that
[4216.35] Jack: you're all right, mate.
[4219.35] Jack: Yep.
[4220.35] Chad N: You know, you've got to go a while and you've just got to basically do your thing for yourself.
[4229.15] Chad N: But yeah, I'm back.
[4230.15] Chad N: I'm back.
[4231.15] Chad N: Good, good.
[4232.15] Adam: Well, you have been a fantastic guest and it's been, you know, an honor to have you
[4234.59] Adam: on.
[4235.59] Adam: Thanks for sharing and joining us on this.
[4237.35] Chad N: Cheers for having me.
[4238.99] Chad N: Like I keep on saying anytime, guys, I just like chewing the fat and talking about random
[4243.79] Chad N: stuff and if people want to listen, then hey, we're lucky.
[4247.75] Adam: Because people certainly did want to listen.
[4248.75] Adam: We had quite a lot of the listeners in tonight.
[4250.83] Adam: So yeah, it was good to hear.
[4255.71] Jack: Thank you.
[4256.71] Jack: All 88 of you.
[4257.71] Jack: 89.
[4258.71] Jack: Thank you.
[4259.71] Jack: Okay.
[4260.71] Jack: You've been meaning to let Strone out available every Thursday at eight o'clock GMT time.
[4271.03] Jack: And Tony will stress about it.
[4275.15] Tony: Always late.
[4277.15] Tony: I'll go and see you at 10 past next week, probably.
[4281.15] Jack: Yeah.
[4282.15] Adam: And any time afterwards, of course.
[4285.15] Jack: Yeah.
[4286.15] Jack: We'd just like to let everyone know that Tony is slowly becoming a hard leg due to I stress
[4291.31] Jack: him out so much.
[4294.11] Jack: Said Jack proudly.
[4295.11] Jack: Yeah.
[4296.11] Jack: Thank you.
[4297.11] Jack: Thank you.
[4298.11] Jack: Cheers.
[4299.11] Jack: Ciao.
