Let's drone out

Chris channel let us know what you think of him https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCZASDd4-_aGL8KhiFaGYeGw

[0.27] Jae: Now welcome welcome welcome to yet another episode of let's turn out. It's fine Thursday. That's been blistery
[7.55] Jae: We're joining this week. Why NJ tech
[10.55] Jae: Hello, hello, and Jay. How you doing? I'm good. Yeah, I'm very good. Well. Yeah. Yeah, I'm good considering the weather
[18.87] Jae: Yeah, exactly exactly no flying weather and we've also got Jack welcome back Jack. Hello still haven't had my week off yet
[27.51] Jack: No
[28.51] Jae: Well, you know you know what I've always said that in the winter months
[32.43] Jae: You don't really want to take time off anyway because the weather's rubbish
[34.39] Jae: She might as well go out and fly in the better weather so to be honest if you want your Thursdays off in the future
[39.51] Jae: We'll arrange that
[41.19] Jae: Yeah, I will
[43.03] Jae: Yeah, they do take their time don't they but it's good to have you all listening in again because we do this for you
[47.99] Jae: Guys in the community the love of it, so uh yeah
[51.35] Jack: Right so Jack yeah, yeah, I've got I've got an apology to my good friend Tony
[58.63] Jack: I'm really sorry. He's a he's a bit. He's a bit sensitive because he was really ill and I I
[66.19] Jack: ripped on him
[68.31] Jack: when you know when he was ill and fragile, and he wasn't here to defend himself and
[74.79] Jack: I just like to admit that. I'm a bad friend and
[78.35] Jack: I though I am a put to Tony at the best of times
[82.43] Jack: And you know he's my emotional punching bag as my second wife
[87.87] Jae: Yeah, I thought that's not what love's about yeah, totally
[91.51] Jack: I'm a bad spouse
[93.51] Jack: You know yeah, I feel really bad
[96.35] Jack: And I just like to remind everyone that but if if anyone Tony has the most dirt against me
[103.03] Jack: You know he's got he's got videos of me picking my nose
[106.71] Jack: Scratching myself
[109.23] Jack: He's also got those holiday photos of when I made out that lady boy. I
[114.87] Jack: Insist I did that on purpose. I fully just for him to get the photos
[123.19] Jae: Maybe we can have you both back on next week if he's feeling better, so I think he's still a bit rough this week
[126.95] Jae: Isn't he?
[130.23] Jack: He's got birth flu apparently
[132.67] Jack: That's what happens when you like animals
[135.63] Jae: All right, he's not eating them, but he's getting close to them. Is he he's I think you know need to be another punch
[140.39] Jae: You know you know jack you do one thing and then you know I can't help it
[145.47] Jack: Yeah, well no he's um no I think he saved a bird
[149.11] Jack: I think he's driving along found a bird
[151.51] Jack: I added it into the wildlife people and then that bird gave him bird flu and and that's it
[159.51] Jae: Well, I'm sure he'll be back next week
[161.63] Jae: He's getting a make a recovery, but I think he said he was coughing all the time
[164.51] Jae: So he's having back yeah, and hello to everyone in the chat by the way
[169.55] Jae: There's everyone from BMS web to dazzle striker and everyone else so if you want to ask any questions in there, please do so
[176.67] Jae: So it has been winded today, but people have been flying. I know that but I didn't get out sadly
[182.15] NJ: He's been flying because they're nuts if they have I mean
[185.09] NJ: We've been living here Clinton went quite well
[188.21] NJ: Well, how's the rest been moving around the country because up here. I think
[192.89] NJ: In Bedfordshire, we've we've had as strong as 80 mile an hour gusts and my roof literally sounded
[199.69] NJ: That was creaking like it was gonna lift off the top of my house. Well, so I
[206.81] Jae: As far as I know there's no video because he had problems with his run cam
[210.07] Jae: Which I think everyone who owns a run cam usually has a problem with it eventually I've shot it up
[213.73] Jae: But just bet there's another question point altogether, but there's no video to prove it
[217.71] Jae: So maybe I think there may be one so yeah
[219.85] Jae: But I guess if a quadcopter is gonna fly 80 miles an hour plus and it's 70 mile an hour gusts
[225.37] Jae: There's no problem. You just go quite slow one way and extra fast the other way
[228.83] Jae: I mean, it's quite windy the other week when we're flying and actually to get the speed runs you go with the wind
[233.73] Jae: Oh, yeah, my quads faster than it really is
[237.09] NJ: Yeah, the scariest moment I had with high winds and the quad was actually when I was in Australia
[243.73] NJ: And it was just before I hooked up with the BMS web guys
[248.21] NJ: and I was in Sydney and
[250.69] NJ: It was gusting to like 40 mile an hour and it was an offshore wind, but I was desperate to get the
[257.65] NJ: To get the footage so I had to do it
[259.93] NJ: I had to I had to go up and just like I couldn't walk away from it and not have some great footage of the Sydney
[266.05] NJ: Coastline so I went up and that was pretty terrifying
[269.61] NJ: Knowing that you know if the wind did decide it was gonna
[273.21] NJ: Out power the quad it was it was going out to sea and that's that
[277.01] NJ: So yeah, yeah, high wind does scare me a bit. I must admit
[280.53] NJ: I think I think like the comfortably the highest off line is probably 20 at 25
[286.05] NJ: anything after that and I
[288.41] NJ: Think the elements start to get better of me. Well anything more than that
[291.89] Jae: I think when you stood up FP being anyway the wind buffeting and having that displacement as you're flying is tricky
[298.83] Jae: You know unless you sat down so
[301.23] Jack: Hmm. I've the telephone post opposite me at the very top of it has got like this giant
[307.63] Jack: Like what I can only describe as a giant carrier bag. It's not it's obviously clearly something to cover
[313.91] Jack: You know like a load of bricks or something, but it's wrapped around the top of the the wind post
[319.87] Jack: The lamppost opposite me so now technically I've got my own wind sock whether I know
[324.79] Jack: like
[327.79] Jack: Determining wind a lot easier for my flying habits now
[331.75] Jack: You know I've had that wafting around. I might take a photo of it and upload it to the
[337.35] Jack: To the let's draw now. It looks it looks a terrible monstrosity
[341.79] Jack: You know you just you just need a pair of shoes and a drug dealer standing underneath it. You know it's
[348.07] Jack: It's really gone downhill. Thanks to Doris well well Doris. Yeah
[352.15] Jae: I mean, but there may be some investment actually the news this week is plastic bags. Just burn them off
[356.95] Jae: I mean China's unveiled their
[359.11] Jae: their
[360.55] Jae: flamethrowing
[361.51] Jae: Trash copter or whatever it's an octocopter thing that basically as a flames a fuel that it throws out at anything attached to power lines
[368.35] Jae: To burn it off, so I only saw it with a plastic bag namely enough
[373.87] NJ: There was me thinking top gear was the best was the best job in the world apparently
[382.15] NJ: A quadcopter with a flamethrower on it and point it at power lines and other dangerous things
[387.43] Jack: That's a pretty cool job that that does something to my nipples
[393.95] Jack: I'm sorry. That's inappropriate, but I'm just saying enjoy. I like it enjoy. Are you considering?
[400.95] Jack: Having a full-time place on the ldo as much as you can. I know you're a busy guy
[406.19] NJ: I was literally in the middle of a building
[410.11] NJ: I'm just so inundated with stuff through review and build and staying on top of everything in a minute
[415.31] NJ: I was literally cracking on with a build of a micro 2s brushless, and then I got frantic call from Jay
[421.87] NJ: We're on an hour stop. You know we've got topics. You know what we're doing what we're talking about
[427.95] NJ: No
[432.83] Jack: Really as much as you like me
[436.27] NJ: I can get to the computer
[438.35] NJ: Absolutely, I'll definitely be around whenever I can well last time. I was over there
[442.55] Jae: I think I stood on three quads just making your way through the actual front door. Yeah, you've got that many everywhere everywhere
[447.91] NJ: It's it's fairly ridiculous, but I did let my postman in on on what was going on when all these packages from
[455.79] NJ: China Israel you know just stuff constantly coming in
[460.31] Jack: I'd say you want to watch this ready, huh?
[463.51] Jack: Drop dealer yeah
[466.63] NJ: He's here every day
[468.87] Jack: But yeah, yeah, why not um?
[472.07] Jack: Guys, I've got I've met I've met someone
[477.83] Jack: Sounds like when I met Tony. Yeah, no I want to abuse my powers
[483.83] Jack: There's 27 people 26 people listening live right now
[487.87] Jack: And I want to abuse my powers now
[490.83] Jack: There's a kid who's just started up FPV. His name's Chris. Weller
[496.91] Jack: and he I think he got he works as um as
[503.75] Jack: You know like making content and stuff
[507.47] Jack: For YouTube and an advertising whatnot and he started making his own videos
[512.35] Jack: But he's just started up FPV, and I look at him, and I think this kid's got potential
[518.19] Jack: You know when you just look at someone you just like the look of them
[521.11] Jack: You know I mean it's like me and Jay on the first like let's throw now thing
[525.87] Jack: You know Jay was chatting and things that he came on you just kind of get this person you think this person will be really good
[532.63] Jack: And I'm thinking about how getting him on to let's throw now by thought let's play with him first
[540.15] Jack: So like if 26 people if you guys can I'm gonna post his link in the chat
[548.03] Jack: So if everyone
[549.75] Jack: Keeps that opens it keeps the link check out the channel after the show or
[555.47] Jae: Or something else, but I guessing you're saying open it in a new window or something just to open something else no
[563.97] Jae: What do you reckon in shape? We lost Jack. I don't know where it's gone
[567.01] Jae: I don't know
[575.13] Jack: Yeah, everyone go on this channel and like leave some comments get this get on let's throw now
[580.41] Jack: You should be on let's throw now, or if you're not too sure of him. Just be like nah
[584.85] Jack: You know is he aware of the initiation? No, he's not it's gonna
[588.97] Jack: So the link in the chat, okay?
[591.21] Jack: So
[592.61] Jack: Hbi guy, I hope you're right
[594.69] Jack: So what I want I want the listeners to like feedback to me next week
[599.73] Jack: on on on on this episode and be like yay or nay
[605.37] Jack: I just I don't know cuz like he's gonna love nj because of all his tech reviews
[611.17] Jack: and he's gonna learn so much from you, and I just think he's like new and excited and really enthusiastic and
[621.17] Jack: You know he's got quite quickly. I just like he said it in style and stuff like that. You know and I just think
[627.65] Jack: You know I think I think he could be quite big
[630.69] Jae: You know all right. Let's get him on the show and find out how he's found it. Yeah, just torture a man
[635.29] Jack: You know we haven't got Tony at the moment, so we need we need some sort of like
[640.21] Jack: You know pet like animal
[643.73] Jack: You always like to take along the straights, don't you check yeah?
[647.53] Jack: Everyone see what you say
[651.81] Jae: No
[653.81] Jae: If you've got like I don't know I'm always for people learning in and learning from
[660.01] Jack: He's gonna he's gonna love you, and he's gonna think yeah, Tom Smith won't come on
[668.77] Jae: He's shy
[669.93] Jae: No, but you see his beginning name against cuz I think it's recently announced. He's signed with Cobra news
[675.13] NJ: It's yeah, I'd love Tom to come on
[677.73] NJ: I did message him and say come on. Just just come on the show
[680.41] NJ: Just we'll just have a little chat you and I few people checking it out
[683.69] Jae: You know yeah, no we're gonna be hard on you if he's listening. We won't be hard on you
[687.25] Jae: We'll just have a jolly old chat. Yeah, otherwise
[689.21] Jae: We're gonna have to improvise and impersonate your accent as best we can which is gonna be poor so yeah
[694.33] NJ: I need to need to get get Richard the HBR guy get him to get Richard a bully him as well
[699.05] NJ: I mean you know coats him gently
[701.45] NJ: And I say bully I mean
[704.13] Jack: tentatively friendly bullying
[707.73] Jack: We'd need a translator
[712.01] Jae: Anyway bullying is something completely
[716.85] Jack: I'm on the show we must talk yeah, I mean um oh
[722.09] Jack: What's the guy's name?
[724.93] Jack: Oh, man, Johnny
[726.61] Jack: HPI guys got a mate called Johnny who flies FPV really good photographer
[730.81] Jack: I quite like to have it on but I know how busy he is and I keep
[736.33] Jack: Finding his business card, and I've put it somewhere, and I can't find him
[740.41] Jack: HPI and Johnny would be wicked
[743.53] Jack: because I met him at the let the UK drone show and
[750.57] Jack: You know we were just like he's quite businessy and professional and
[756.65] Jack: just
[758.05] Jack: Another interesting guy. Do you know I mean successful at what he does and
[763.77] Jack: You know he's just like
[766.97] Jack: Yeah, you know. He's just like instantly
[769.29] Jack: It's like one of those guys where you go it meet my mates, and then they just get along with everyone no trouble
[777.37] Jack: Hang on
[778.85] Jae: What everyone are calling for in the chat?
[781.77] Jae: Tom Smith so really Tom Smith would be a fool not to come on
[784.57] Jae: I mean why not he gets speak to ng life on there?
[788.53] NJ: Yeah, I'd love to have a chat with someone on this so yeah if he if he's listening or if he gets to watch this
[793.93] NJ: Come on Tom come and have a chat with us
[796.77] NJ: Let's let's talk wacky wacky quad antics
[800.57] Jae: speaking of wacky quad antics in Jay I
[803.77] Jae: Mean the winds started last night didn't they let's face it and you were out flying at 130 in the middle of the car park
[809.53] NJ: Yeah, so that 130 was was something that I've meant to have had done and reviewed
[815.49] NJ: It's just one of the things I meant to get around to doing and I kept putting it off because I've just not been
[821.05] NJ: that excited by the smaller quad copters certainly in terms of the fact that I
[827.13] NJ: Like to acro as opposed to race, and I just find they're a little bit gutless for acro
[832.81] NJ: Especially because you need a lot of grunt in the bottom end
[836.49] NJ: So I didn't really care too much to do this one actually I've got it right here
[840.81] NJ: I'm sitting there staring at it off screen is this little guy
[843.33] NJ: Which is the the reptile?
[847.65] NJ: Very nice, and it was a really it was really good fun to build like if you're looking for a challenging build
[854.29] NJ: building into something this small is actually
[858.13] NJ: It's a whole other thing because you've got it you sometimes go and get a little bit creative
[862.81] NJ: With solutions where you've got no clearance for certain things everything so close together
[867.29] NJ: And you've got to work different ways around
[869.37] NJ: You know where fit receivers, and you know they're a bit of a bit of a nightmare, but it kind of in a good way
[875.41] NJ: But that particular model
[877.69] NJ: Which I chose to run on 4s because why wouldn't run it on 4s?
[882.53] NJ: Is an absolute screamer and I had a total blast with that last night
[886.33] NJ: And that was you know what it was gusting up to like I'd say it's gusting to like 20 at times
[891.29] NJ: Yeah, it was strong winds
[892.93] NJ: And you know you there's a big part of the equation is obviously the fact that it's running the latest base flight
[898.81] NJ: Which is very very good, and it's easy to forget how much works being done by that great piece of software
[906.33] NJ: But in terms of my enjoyment of from from only ever flying 200s and bigger
[912.37] NJ: to then flying a 130 I
[915.37] NJ: was genuinely stunned at how well they can perform how solid they can be and how many of the
[923.57] NJ: the kind of
[925.25] NJ: Bigger acro maneuvers that you do can translate to smaller quad copters
[929.49] NJ: I mean obviously I had a lot messing around with the qx-90 and the qx-95 and there's a lot of
[935.65] NJ: you have to
[937.21] NJ: Pilot through certain maneuvers because they don't have very much inertia and that affects the way certain maneuvers are done
[943.73] NJ: But that 130 the size and the weight it is and the power to weight ratio
[948.89] NJ: It still has those characteristics of a bigger quad in terms of
[953.57] NJ: How you come out of flips and rolls, and you know it still has a weight to it
[958.37] NJ: Just feels like something so much bigger, so that has you know if someone has said to me
[964.69] NJ: 130 just go and get one get one of these I'd be like no way you know if I hadn't actually flown one of these
[970.73] NJ: I would have said don't don't bother. It's you know it's just not going to have the guts
[974.85] NJ: It's not going to be fun
[976.17] NJ: But I had an absolute blast with that little GB 130 and it's totally over my eyes to the 130 side of things
[982.53] NJ: so
[983.97] Jae: Because since the qx-90 which were hugely popular and that sort of form factor
[987.81] Jae: They have actually slowly got to the brush the side and slowly increase the power and things
[991.05] Jae: Maybe it's just an evolution of technology on that size
[994.57] Jae: But I mean the weight size of that 130 is probably mostly well half of it is the battery itself
[1000.73] Jae: So running your four cell battery, which is an 850 wasn't it?
[1003.85] NJ: Yeah, it was a tattoo 850 4s. What's the whole thing way in total?
[1008.65] NJ: Think it's just under 300 grams
[1010.65] NJ: Which still as an all-up weight still kind of sounds a lot for a for a 130 something that little but I mean the power
[1019.65] NJ: The bit that I thought was the most interesting was these little e max motors a lot of problems that people have been having with
[1025.97] NJ: These ones on 4s these the 4,000 KV
[1030.05] NJ: Variants is that it's really easy to get in a situation situation where you can over prop these
[1035.73] NJ: And they actually come with a full-size
[1038.65] NJ: Top-nut, and it's heavy and that contributes to over propping on 4s for the basses and everyone wants to run the the
[1048.09] NJ: 3045
[1049.73] NJ: Dal bullnose props now. They're heavy pitched
[1053.97] NJ: For a motor that's gonna be doing 4,000 KV. They're about three and a half grams a prop which doesn't sound a lot
[1060.89] NJ: But these exalt these are 3030 so less pitch and they weigh a gram and then I've also switched to these ultra light
[1068.81] NJ: aluminium top nuts, so there's a real big weight saving and
[1073.37] NJ: You know dynamically and statically and that makes such a difference and now these motors
[1078.53] NJ: Not getting hot which is what they were renowned for on 4s the 4,000 KV red bottoms
[1084.57] NJ: And this is really happy and it's it's an absolute powerhouse
[1087.37] NJ: It's so much fun to fly then the other thing that's important is a proper
[1092.01] NJ: 1177 on a 130 is a must
[1095.49] Jae: Especially for daytime flying more so I think they and I think yeah, but see what's it quite good at night
[1101.29] Jae: But during the day that's where you see most max out
[1104.01] Jae: I think but the one thing I just was you're holding that up
[1106.81] Jae: Yeah, I was just thinking like for the momentum thing which has largely been a problem
[1111.41] Jae: But that one is more of a rounded shape that spherical shape
[1114.09] Jae: So I guess it wouldn't have as much resistance as you're trying to move through the air because the toll stack on the top is
[1119.37] Jae: All rounded off and it's quite an interesting design to see it how how short the arms are
[1123.77] Jae: But how much it's built up and up with a battery shot song underneath. It's it doesn't look like it should fly like it did
[1129.65] NJ: Yeah, I mean this there's absolutely nothing
[1133.21] NJ: Aerodynamic about quad cops is there they just quite simply brute force their way through the air
[1138.93] NJ: Those are the you know, that's that's the physics of it. There's nothing
[1145.05] Jae: Tumbling, but yeah, I suppose. Yeah. Well, it was great to see a man old covers
[1149.53] NJ: Yes, like exactly like dropping a brick out sky, you know that there's they're not aerodynamic at all
[1156.97] NJ: You know even I mean there are models that make efforts towards it
[1160.41] NJ: I mean there's some some beautiful models out there now with with beautiful fairings like the one that I got sent recently the Beast X
[1166.85] NJ: That's a stunning looking quad copter really nice aerodynamic canopy on it and you can get thinner arms or
[1173.41] NJ: Really thin arms like the Revo the fossil stuff Revo
[1177.65] NJ: And then what do you do you get that beautiful?
[1180.57] NJ: Nice new aerodynamic shape that everyone's been working on and then you stick a big square GoPro on the top and a big
[1187.85] NJ: Square brick of a battery underneath and then you just destroyed it all again
[1191.57] NJ: If they say it's it's it's one of those things that you are sort of brute forcing your your way around the sky
[1198.61] NJ: But it's an interesting thing. I did actually
[1201.73] NJ: Receive this in the post
[1204.21] NJ: To review the that's the fossil stuff's Revo
[1209.25] NJ: I was a little disappointed that it came pre-built. I was really looking forward to building this and
[1217.29] NJ: Tony and
[1219.73] NJ: Dan Pittman, sorry sent this sent this out to me
[1224.29] NJ: And yeah, it's really interesting. I'm looking forward to I mean, this is this is racing through
[1230.73] NJ: And through this thing just by virtue of its design. I wouldn't consider this really a freestyle
[1238.09] NJ: Quadcopter certainly because we've got these these lines would be fantastic for getting caught in trees. Yeah
[1245.57] NJ: Right. Yes. Oh, no, that's right
[1249.29] Jack: It's a fantastic cheese cutter. Oh, yeah
[1252.41] Jae: Be great. Yeah, if you want to build one just give me that one and ask them to send you one that's not built then simple
[1257.89] Jack: Yeah, yeah
[1261.17] Jack: I've got you know
[1263.65] NJ: But I'm all for anyone that's pushing design ideas and trying new stuff
[1267.93] NJ: It's very easy to just sit with the same
[1270.81] NJ: The same designs and and you know, just return the same things with the incremental changes, you know
[1277.01] NJ: It's good to see thinking outside the box and you know, this kind of this kind of things great
[1281.77] NJ: so the wackier the better I say and then we get to be the
[1285.73] NJ: The ones that go out and test it which is a very cool thing
[1288.89] Jack: You can use it chop boiled eggs up to apparently chop boiled eggs. Is that right? I had speed flying through here
[1296.01] Jae: That's what you gotta try and do
[1299.25] Jae: So what you've been flying these days Jack and we haven't heard what you've been flying what you've been up to you. Uh, I
[1305.01] Jack: I haven't I have not been flying because a lot of guys went to the Hidden Valley last weekend
[1312.57] Jack: Saturday was a beautiful day. I didn't go fly. I
[1318.05] Jack: Slept through most of that and then Sunday everyone went to Hidden Valley and I did not go
[1326.73] Jack: Because I'm I'm just having a bit of a sort out really I'm
[1331.13] Jack: you know the
[1333.25] Jack: The the poo copter is up on on eBay at the moment the electro hub
[1340.09] Jack: You
[1342.09] Jack: Know flight test electro hub, you know that I was using for my test bench. I've decided to
[1348.17] Jack: List that out completely for sale because at the moment
[1352.17] Jack: the
[1353.21] Jack: You know the design for my I now
[1356.53] Jack: Quads Dan's got the proof the plans approved. So they're being the frames being cut out with
[1363.81] Jack: with armattan
[1365.73] Jack: I've started I glued my wing together and I'm waiting for Dan to just
[1371.01] Jack: Cut my GoPro mount out. So I'm just kind of getting ready to go fly
[1378.41] Jack: So I haven't been out at all so I've been doing a lot of like test bench stuff and getting rid of
[1386.01] Jack: Old things and you know starting up new things
[1389.97] Jack: Because I did the the whole chat with them, you know
[1394.73] Jack: Constant team with I now and I'm really looking forward to
[1399.05] Jack: You know that I now quad, you know, I don't really want to fly anything else till I get that up in the air
[1404.17] Jae: You want to know the interesting thing like a long time ago cast your way back all the way back to the start of let's turn out
[1409.77] Jae: Yeah joke about flowing waypoint
[1412.49] Jack: Yeah, you've got like full circle and you're now flowing way point
[1415.85] Jack: I haven't I haven't started in way point and to be honest, I've got GPS. I've got no idea
[1422.21] Jack: How we got hit how he does way point at all. He's I force 2d has just uploaded a video
[1430.81] Jack: Hang on. Let's have a look. I want to get the correct maths
[1435.37] Jack: Hang on his video
[1438.57] Jack: Was he's designed a hex with no legs
[1443.49] Jack: He's got like a little cradle coming down and he's flown 2.3 K
[1449.25] Jack: Autonomous flight with a 360-degree camera gimbal
[1453.37] Jack: so I can I can I
[1456.97] Jae: 'll post the link in the the chat if anyone cares we need a link to your YouTube your eBay, I mean
[1465.33] Jae: People have a chance to buy some let's turn out memorabilia. Yeah, that's what you're gonna sell it as oh, yeah, so
[1474.29] Jack: Yeah
[1476.21] Jack: Just wanted to suggest you I force 2d. I love I love him
[1481.41] Jack: Chris his name is and I'd love to have him on the show, but he's too shy. I think he was like nah
[1487.29] Jack: You know, and I'm like dude you can you can talk
[1490.49] Jack: You know, but he's just like now it's not my sort of thing
[1493.89] Jack: But he's done some really really interesting stuff. It's um, I started playing with the
[1500.63] Jack: Storm 32 gimbal, I was doing that last weekend rather than going out and fly and
[1507.95] Jack: There's two different versions of the storm 32 gimbal, there's one version which is
[1516.19] Jack: the
[1517.67] Jack: I2c version and apparently you get loads of errors
[1521.71] Jack: With that, you know the cable because it's quite susceptible to interference
[1526.59] Jack: yeah, and and
[1529.75] Jack: Then they've redesigned it with this NT version and I didn't know so I've spent I've spent 18 pound on a
[1538.15] Jack: I2c version and then instead of buying the the 24 pounds NT version and with the NT version you can use a
[1548.95] Jack: Nano
[1551.59] Jack: CC 3d flight controller as your your
[1556.79] Jack: I am you external. I am you on the bottom of your
[1561.07] Jack: Camera and apparently it's it's really really good. So I'm feeling a bit of a dummy
[1568.83] Jae: So
[1569.87] Jae: Wow to hear you talking about I am use on a camera stuff. I know I like this like
[1576.79] Jack: Wow, I know
[1579.67] Jae: Because forget the ESC list now you're gonna start talking like I am used to I know
[1585.27] Jack: well, look the not not last weekend the weekend before I went out and flew with Dan Tony came up and
[1592.07] Jack: I need to like rendezvous with Tony because he showed up
[1597.75] Jack: Andy RC, I don't know about him put the link up
[1601.71] NJ: I see
[1603.71] NJ: Great great channel. Yeah, the guy is actually he's a bit of a machine of if I'm honest with you
[1609.23] NJ: He the speed at which he I think he manages to say yes to everything. I'm I'm
[1614.99] NJ: I'm really picky and choosy about what I say. Yes to
[1621.31] NJ: This is not a this at all what Andy's great at is he will say yeah, send me everything
[1626.31] NJ: I will review it and I'm gonna be honest about it, which is the way you should be
[1630.91] NJ: You know to be objective and impartial, but he just I mean there's stuff that I get sent that I that I've offered and I look at and I
[1637.55] NJ: go
[1638.43] NJ: No one on my channel is gonna want to see this. This is a bumblebee 2s
[1644.03] NJ: Silly quad with you know, like it just looks stupid
[1647.35] NJ: They're like this is this is nothing serious for me to review and I just won't do it
[1651.83] NJ: But Andy will just say it seems like he will just say yeah
[1655.39] NJ: Just send everything and I'll just chat and he is he's like a machine
[1658.23] NJ: there's just stuff keeps coming out, but his reviews are brilliant. They're so thorough and
[1663.19] NJ: He goes through absolutely everything, you know
[1667.03] NJ: Right through to the tuning set up problems. He found with it. So he'd be a great one to get on here. Definitely
[1674.15] Jae: Sometimes behind the YouTube channel, there's a team and not just one person
[1678.19] Jae: So maybe it's you know, how could you because you're you're one with one man band you tune and fly and build and everything
[1683.59] NJ: Yeah, I think Andy's one guy
[1685.59] NJ: I get you find out let's get him on the show. I'm fine. Yeah. Yeah, I think so
[1691.19] Jack: But yeah, he's he's he's a I've never seen that I've never I had no idea this guy existed
[1697.67] Jack: Yeah, no, he's I mean, I've had my head for a while up where Tony believes my head lips
[1705.59] Jack: right
[1707.11] Jack: anyway, you you
[1709.23] Jack: You brought up an interesting topic, which I wanted to bring up
[1713.23] Jack: Enjoy a night. Yeah Bruce Simpson, right?
[1718.19] Jack: Okay, what about Bruce right two things right? You know how you said like given on this review. Yes
[1724.39] Jack: Well, like that man single-handedly killed
[1728.15] Jack: his relationship with I on way antennas and because they they fixed it he didn't had a revision to say hey
[1735.75] Jack: by the way, the the patch antennas they use on the
[1739.03] Jack: What what's the weird thing, you know, like the antenna array from hobby King what?
[1749.39] NJ: The multi
[1751.47] NJ: Thing with with the patches all around one
[1754.47] NJ: Did anyone ever buy one of those I didn't I saw Joshua got one and played around with it?
[1760.47] Jae: Joshua bardwell, wasn't he positive about it if I remember correctly it in theory, it should work great
[1767.67] Jack: Theory I think
[1771.51] Jack: A painless 360 had one. He said it was amazing
[1774.79] NJ: Yeah, yeah as it should be I guess it was proper diversity as well
[1779.63] NJ: It wasn't some GT and tenor switching thing. It was you know
[1783.55] NJ: Individual units and yeah from what I can tell it was it was pretty awesome
[1788.39] NJ: But it's just nothing I want to carry around
[1790.91] NJ: That's quite a rig to you know, it's like it's back. Imagine that with some quantum goggles
[1797.87] NJ: Your car like some kind of Doppler radar is yeah, it is essentially. Yeah, you could like, all right
[1805.47] Jack: So anyway, we're going off topic anyway
[1809.47] Jack: Is that it is that what it's called the word sorry overlord
[1814.35] NJ: That's it. I think it is called that actually. Yeah, that's good. Yeah the hubby king overlord
[1820.55] Jack: Honestly, it's a serious bit of kit light if anyone like was to work that out
[1824.91] Jack: I'd be like whoa calm down now
[1827.91] Jack: You know, you're rolling with let's thrown out here. You know, we're lucky we can maintain
[1834.11] Jack: Wi-Fi connection
[1838.23] Jack: So anyway, Bruce Simpson, you know and if you he's been talking about his Horace lately and if you listen
[1846.79] Jack: Yeah, yeah
[1849.03] Jack: His relationship with the whole like free sky is clearly broken down
[1854.91] Jack: You know, he they respond to him
[1858.51] Jack: regards correcting a
[1860.79] Jack: Piece of misinformation from him but in regards like hey, what do I do with the Horace? They don't respond to him whatsoever
[1869.43] Jack: Wow, so like I definitely think that like a few people have like stopped sending in things
[1876.43] Jack: Because they just don't want to
[1878.91] Jack: You know, they don't want him to like, you know kill their problem
[1883.47] NJ: Well, I mean
[1886.39] NJ: The thing is like, I mean he he was at one point he was in real trouble with the whole
[1892.95] NJ: FPV, New Zealand thing and it amazed me how he didn't buckle and really stuck to his guns and I've got a lot of admiration for
[1900.31] NJ: the guy and
[1901.67] NJ: the one of the things you know without I don't want to pull up a million cliches here, but
[1907.75] NJ: you know, he's he's
[1909.55] NJ: He's got a lot of power now because what does he have like a hundred and thirty thousand subscribers, you know
[1915.15] NJ: He's he's a real heavyweight and rightly so his reviews his information. He's got you know, really solid electronics and science background
[1924.51] NJ: He's got videos on absolutely everything, you know, he's he's a really important work. Yeah, he has put the work
[1931.19] NJ: He's a really important guy and he's you know worked through a lot of
[1934.51] NJ: Tough times and stuck to his his guns and his principles and his morals
[1938.39] NJ: So, you know, I've got a lot of admiration for him, but I know the horror sting
[1941.91] NJ: I he was quite upfront in saying I think when he got his early review unit about saying I'm under you know
[1949.27] NJ: A non-disclosure agreement. I can't talk about certain things
[1952.87] NJ: And he obviously signed that to get the unit and play with it and get an early hands-on with it
[1956.99] NJ: but he couldn't talk about it and you know, he's always pretty honest about this stuff, but
[1961.71] NJ: He might be you know, he could
[1964.51] NJ: He could quite easily just be flippant about one thing or another and end up that
[1969.03] NJ: That could end up having a really detrimental effect. Yeah, but it's because he's got so many people that kind of hang off his every word
[1977.19] NJ: So there is that yeah, there is that kind of responsibility when all of a sudden you're saying stuff
[1982.87] NJ: to a hundred and thirty or thousand subscribers or
[1986.51] NJ: More so there is a bit of that I guess but he does he just does so much good
[1991.75] Jack: It's the PewDiePie effect, you know, I mean it's like
[1996.19] Jack: You do PewDie Bruce. Yeah
[2002.43] Jack: Remember but but he he was gonna he was gonna tell us or talk about something in his latest
[2008.99] Jack: Exjet vlog, which I'm really waiting to that's yet to come out, isn't it? Yeah
[2015.11] Jack: Rocking back and forth
[2018.03] Jack: You know
[2018.71] Jae: I think he's got the following cuz he always used to do videos of how to get something that flies like one of the more
[2024.03] Jae: Expensive things much cheaper and perhaps that's his view on the horrors if something's so premium
[2028.67] Jae: Maybe he's gonna be more critical of it
[2030.59] Jae: especially if the support even and that's why I avoid love Bruce because you could show you how you get some that punched out really fast back
[2036.23] Jae: In the day for practically nothing
[2039.23] Jack: Prey sky just totally missed the mark on
[2043.43] Jack: Horace, but it was it was essential for
[2048.03] Jack: Check out these Hall Effect sensors those guys if they just made Hall Effect sensors
[2054.35] Jack: For the Taranis, they would have made a load of money now. You can't get hold of them for love normal
[2060.35] NJ: Yeah, they're mad
[2062.43] NJ: Mad and that they are bringing out. I've you know, I've heard on the grapevine the the m7
[2068.83] NJ: Senses will be out as well for the qx7 the new one that's out and I'm
[2073.15] NJ: down to get a set of those as soon as they are are available, but as you say
[2078.71] NJ: You know, I have to agree. There was some some problems with Horace
[2082.43] NJ: There was some things that were missed that you know, they they wanted to make the ultimate radio
[2087.19] NJ: It didn't quite come to fruition
[2089.19] NJ: But you know what they've done with the qx7 more recently
[2093.35] NJ: You know and I did a big two-part in-depth review on that and really got my hands dirty with it
[2098.31] NJ: And I think they've absolutely nailed it for the price
[2101.91] NJ: They've put it out and they've and they do listen like they do listen to what what people are after
[2107.91] Jack: Except when it comes to use silicone wire, they've got some sort of weird adverse
[2114.03] Jack: You know, I'm sure like the head guy has got some sort of a silicone allergy
[2121.43] NJ: Right, they don't want silicone wire inside the inside the transmitters. Yeah, or the little
[2128.47] Jack: or the little
[2130.51] Jack: You know telemetry cables on your receivers
[2135.03] NJ: Now was it me or did they started changing that then I'm sure the exercise now come with with silicone wires
[2142.51] NJ: I'm pretty sure they do
[2144.59] Jack: Forgive me. Forgive me
[2147.59] NJ: I think they have changed there. In fact, yeah, cuz I
[2151.99] NJ: Here's another flight controller that I got sent recently. They're not they're not run cam. That's one of those see me
[2159.11] NJ: So this is the
[2161.39] NJ: So this has got an XSR built into it. This is an FRS guy
[2164.63] NJ: I
[2166.27] NJ: XSR f3e and this did come with a silicone loom. So yeah, they have started including silicone rooms in with this stuff
[2174.19] NJ: But again, this is this is another product, you know, I'll be doing a review on this but
[2179.67] NJ: another product with loads of great
[2182.31] NJ: fr sky
[2183.79] NJ: Thinking, you know, how can we make this more compact and more great ideas into one into one flight controller doing what they do
[2190.83] NJ: But then just missing the mark on
[2193.15] NJ: One thing here and there in this one the biggest issue that they had was that they put the 90 to 50 gyro in here
[2199.67] NJ: Which is basically the 6500 gyro with a barometer, which is the worst most sensitive noisy
[2205.75] NJ: pain in the ass gyro to work with
[2208.31] NJ: And you have to go to all kinds of soft mounting and it's just a pain
[2213.23] NJ: so if they put a 6,000 gyro in that that would have been a brilliant brilliant board, but
[2219.81] NJ: You know there there again a product that could have been way more popular I guess but yeah
[2227.05] Jack: All right, shall we shall we pull the pin out the grenade? Jay you're gonna you're gonna you're gonna have to be the mediator
[2235.25] Jack: Okay, well, that's that's that's not a problem. So what's out soft mounting?
[2240.93] Jack: Oh
[2246.45] Jack: We had race flight on last week, yeah, I
[2251.21] Jack: was muzzled
[2252.69] Jack: for good reason I
[2257.98] Jack: Cannot be trusted
[2259.7] Jack: I've upset my one true love my my best little friend
[2265.98] Jack: The Eddie to my Richie Rich
[2273.1] UNKNOWN: I
[2274.86] Jack: Brad is was nice enough to have him on and
[2278.22] Jack: There's been you know, there's been a few like
[2281.02] Jack: You know people for the beat of flight
[2284.14] Jack: development
[2285.42] Jack: Team on and you know, I've had I've had a few people in the comments being like this guy
[2292.34] Jack: You know, it's paranoid that everyone's stealing from him. He's made open source code code into close source
[2299.94] Jack: You
[2301.94] Jack: Know and then it's like, you know, all right there. They're providing
[2307.46] Jack: You know that they're providing some sort of like support
[2312.02] Jack: You know
[2313.22] Jack: Serve this but anyway, has anyone noticed the whole your twitch?
[2319.82] Jack: Malarkey coming up in you know beat a flight now
[2322.62] Jack: We're flying and it makes that sort of like skipping noise like your props are loose and it's only on the your access
[2330.82] NJ: Yeah, the thing is the thing is about your the your twitchiness your oscillation
[2335.5] NJ: it's I think generally speaking your tuning is often the bit that
[2340.62] NJ: generally people tend to
[2342.42] NJ: Overlook anyway, because it's usually the one that is is more often than not just just fine on the whole and isn't quite as obvious
[2349.98] NJ: when you start
[2351.98] NJ: Sort of making meaningful meaningful changes to say the P term on the roll or the pitch you see results straight away
[2359.98] NJ: You see whether it's oscillating with with your it's a lot. It's much harder thing to tune
[2365.54] NJ: you've got a bigger envelope there to work with and
[2368.94] NJ: Really, I've always advocated this that that in terms of your tuning
[2373.26] NJ: The best thing you can do is use your ear because it's something that you'll hear
[2377.42] NJ: More than you're likely to see in your FPV feed
[2382.3] NJ: You might see it in your actually cam if you're filming at like
[2385.98] NJ: 60 frames per second or higher
[2388.3] NJ: But the best thing you can do is listen to what your quads doing
[2391.7] NJ: But my point being that you're twitching and your mid throttle oscillation that has existed
[2398.14] NJ: I've had all these flight controllers. Okay going a long way back. It's not something that's new and it has played its play kiss
[2405.94] NJ: It's been an issue in fight flight. It's been an issue in race flight those things
[2411.82] NJ: I've been at some point or another
[2414.78] NJ: They've been there and they've been a pain in the ass and it is something that you have to work towards learning
[2421.26] NJ: You have to learn to to listen for it. You have to learn how to deal with it
[2426.5] NJ: now
[2427.62] NJ: That was obviously why we're getting back to this whole issue of soft mounting
[2431.54] NJ: And I touched on this once before I think that the the soft mounting thing is really just a point of
[2438.78] NJ: of dealing with resonance in the quadcopter
[2442.86] NJ: And it's this whole thing of having many ways to skin a rabbit
[2447.7] NJ: and
[2449.54] NJ: soft mounting your motors or soft mounting your flight controller or a combination of the two or
[2456.74] NJ: One or none. They're all going to have different effects on the resonance of
[2462.06] NJ: The resonance and whether harmonic resonance is going to build up in the quad
[2465.82] NJ: All of these things come down to kind of the mechanical tune of the quad
[2471.26] NJ: That is the bit that I always focus on when I build a quadcopter first is to get it mechanically as sound as possible
[2478.94] NJ: To actually before you even put your props on I rev up each motor each arm
[2484.22] NJ: And I feel is one of these vibrating a lot is one of you know, they all feel nice and silky
[2489.74] NJ: Even after like 10 15 flights check to see if one boat one bearings going bad in your motor
[2495.38] NJ: All of these things will have resonance and resonance points and those will build up
[2500.86] NJ: And can cause issues and connect cause things like this to develop
[2506.94] NJ: So I'm not going to say soft mounting is a bad thing for idiots it's absolutely not
[2512.26] NJ: I'm not going to say soft mounting is the best be all and end all answer for everyone
[2516.58] NJ: It won't be but for some people it might be a magic fix
[2520.02] NJ: The point is to experiment with all of these things and try and get your quad as mechanically sound as possible first with as least
[2527.54] NJ: Vibration and to be as smooth as possible if you do that
[2531.46] NJ: And if you get it, you know
[2533.22] NJ: And this is what black box logs are so important as well
[2535.58] NJ: If you can really consider that with a flight control being able to look and analyze a black box log and the gyro data
[2541.58] NJ: To see how your quadcopters behaving mechanically
[2545.42] NJ: Just has such an enormous impact on your chain and that is what will help you achieve a really smooth and
[2553.06] NJ: beautiful chain
[2555.58] NJ: But yeah, that's that's that's the crux of it none of this is right or wrong
[2559.26] NJ: But you should try all of these things out
[2561.22] NJ: But as I said, the aim is get get your quad mechanically smooth get as nice as possible first mechanically
[2569.14] NJ: And then when it comes to the tuning and the software side of it
[2572.14] NJ: You'll have a far far easier time. You won't have nearly as much oscillation problems and and you'll see
[2578.78] NJ: More meaningful things out of what you're changing in the tuning
[2583.3] NJ: If the if the flight controller doesn't have to just deal endlessly
[2587.82] NJ: With vibration and resonance in the quadcopter, you know when I first started offline quads, we called it something else
[2593.46] Jae: We called it jello and it appeared in videos
[2595.86] Jae: And you're trying to stop that jello from hearing your videos and tried all four of them to the soft mounting everything
[2601.94] NJ: Yeah, I remember when I was first flying helicopters trying to put cameras on it that the whole jello thing was just a
[2614.06] Jack: That was one of the longest NJ rants ever
[2617.58] Jack: I
[2624.98] Jack: Enjoy is a firm believe for kids of soft mount in your ESCs. I just like the point everyone out
[2639.22] NJ: Soft man soft mountings, but yeah, as I said like
[2643.1] NJ: Harmonic resonance that's the worst one if you've ever had a quadcopter
[2646.18] NJ: And you put a certain set of props on and it just get it suddenly starts vibrating and it gets worse and worse and worse
[2651.86] NJ: And just makes it's horrible noise and then you switch props. It's gone. That's that's the harmonic resonance thing
[2656.86] NJ: That's really horrible
[2657.98] NJ: But that can happen you just changing your battery
[2660.7] NJ: The mass the changes on your quad if you've got that hard-mounted to your quad you go from a 1,000 milliamp to a 15
[2667.1] NJ: 100 milliamp battery and you you change the way it's going to resonate that can have an impact. You know, it's it's all
[2673.78] NJ: It's all it's very dynamic and you have to be you just have to if you if you think about that and you take that
[2680.14] NJ: And have that as your mindset when you're moving forward before you hit your tuning. I think you'll have far less headaches
[2686.86] NJ: That's been my experience
[2688.9] Jae: You know, there's one quadcopter coming to the market
[2691.22] Jae: But hopefully soon that I'm hoping doesn't have the same problems that we've been mentioning is that the wrong
[2696.86] Jae: No, the one that you ride on
[2699.3] Jae: If you've been following on Mashable, there's one that looks like a bike you ride on NJ
[2703.66] Jae: I think they might start selling it at gear best soon. So you might get one for
[2709.42] Jae: That's one thing you need to ask for forgetting else
[2712.66] Jae: I'll put the link in there. There you go Mashable, but you know, I don't want any of your oscillations. I'm riding that thing
[2718.06] Jack: No way
[2720.54] Jack: Freeze guy will buy one Bruce in hope that he'll kill himself
[2729.02] Jack: The sick thing to do he receives an email from not free sky at free sky
[2739.58] Jack: Hi, we've invented
[2742.14] Jack: I have a bike. Would you like to review it?
[2745.1] Jae: But it kind of is the thing though, isn't it?
[2746.94] Jae: There's more and more of these are coming to market being designed because they realize flying cars is actually probably here as close as we're
[2751.66] Jae: gonna get
[2752.94] Jae: But oh man, I think starting from square one
[2755.1] Jae: Oh, they're gonna stop bring kiss for flight control and then I start with that and we work on it
[2759.5] Jae: Your navcopter. Yeah
[2762.7] Jack: Sorry flying car always makes me think of clerks too. Oh, yeah
[2769.22] Jack: So
[2771.06] Jack: Anyway, right. So here's my thing to be soft mounting right is a
[2776.7] Jack: since
[2779.02] Jack: the
[2781.1] Jack: man KK two days I
[2783.98] Jack: always soft mounted my flight controllers with
[2788.06] Jack: foam tape and I was a firm believer of soft mounting and
[2793.42] Jack: then
[2794.86] Jack: The nay-32. I was like I'm a change man. I quite like having standoffs
[2801.94] Jack: It's all good. So I built this quad the other like
[2806.94] Jack: last week
[2809.18] Jack: SPF 3
[2810.58] Jack: Built it and I had your twitch on it look to the black box
[2815.58] Jack: Your P was all over the shop lowered the P
[2819.62] Jack: Made it fly a bit better still did it still greatest?
[2823.38] Jack: you know like
[2825.66] Jack: You know just fast-pitch weird noise load the P more
[2830.46] Jack: Still none load the P till
[2833.46] Jack: It started affecting the sort of you know hovering fly
[2837.5] Jack: In heat so low that your stick inputs are no longer sharp
[2844.58] NJ: Yeah, yeah, there's a point of which says that it's not driving the input anymore
[2848.58] NJ: And you have you've got no kind of you've essentially got no stick feel whatsoever. It's like staring porridge. Yeah
[2856.06] Jack: So anyway played around with the eye no difference
[2861.26] Jack: Cut long story short. I
[2863.42] Jack: Deceiled of that board put a new board in
[2866.58] Jack: Made it better, and that's all I did
[2871.74] NJ: And the other hand went from one one nays 32 to another nays 32
[2876.42] NJ: Yeah, well they sorry you were SPF 3 so that's that's the
[2882.34] NJ: 6,000 gyro, which is you know hit on this
[2885.5] NJ: No, the 6,000 is a great job. That's that's pretty much the one that gives the least grief
[2890.94] NJ: Across all the you know most of the flight controllers. It's the best suited
[2895.54] NJ: Gyro to go for it and you know Boris has outright said that
[2899.82] NJ: This is this is the best one
[2902.1] NJ: That gives us the less the least grief and it's very happy whether hard mounted or soft mounted
[2908.86] NJ: It's the 6500 and 9250. They're the ones that were a real
[2913.54] NJ: pain
[2915.22] NJ: And it was that yeah, that's what was in the nays rare the rev 6
[2921.1] NJ: That's what's wrong with that and also the luck the lux, but then the lux v2 that's been released not that long ago
[2928.22] NJ: They've now gone to the 6,000 which is what people asked for and they've added an SD card reader
[2932.86] NJ: And that's that's a really great flight controller now
[2936.82] NJ: But yeah, that's yeah, there's so many variables. There's so so many variables, but just be methodical about it and
[2945.7] NJ: as
[2947.26] NJ: I said the black box is so useful because you can at least you can look at it and get some idea of
[2952.9] NJ: What's happening mechanically and and do something about it?
[2957.22] Jae: Okay, what's that fuselage behind you? It's a six something extra been in the making for about
[2964.14] Jae: five years
[2966.38] Jae: No, no, I actually put it out and did some more work on it, but I'd like to
[2970.86] Jae: You see the thing was I put a nice
[2973.5] Jae: I'm electric on my all my planes
[2975.18] Jae: But I put an IC engine or built it with an IC engine in my so I wanted to do some aerobatics and recharge by
[2980.5] Jae: Filling with fuel, but I can't be bothered now. I know I've got to now go do an
[2985.26] Jae: Electric conversion again seven plane planes and ears so why would you drive it?
[2991.18] Jae: Well, I know so the other thing was if I built it up with it sell it
[2995.02] Jae: because the only the only plane I really want now is a wing just for a
[2999.1] Jae: Chuck about
[3000.42] NJ: Yeah, why's quads all the way? I think the wing thing's cool
[3003.82] NJ: Just because you can be up for 25 minutes and just yeah
[3007.1] NJ: carries around and yeah
[3008.62] Jae: And the whole thing where the chase chase it for the quads, you know, there's something else for someone to follow
[3014.3] Jae: As many as yeah
[3017.1] Jae: Yeah, I like that idea as well. So did I hear correctly though Jack you're building Adams FPV quadcopter. Yeah
[3024.06] Jae: Yeah for launching when like for when is this gonna happen target date 2027?
[3031.1] Jae: No, I think sixth and seventh of May, isn't it?
[3034.3] Adam: Oh, yeah
[3046.54] Jack: Ask nj nj is it worth getting a tyrannis or is it worth getting that thing that you've got?
[3053.82] Jack: That thing that I have here. Um, okay
[3057.74] NJ: honestly, um
[3059.58] NJ: I think when you get the whole sense of gimbals for this which will then work out to be 140 pounds roughly
[3067.02] NJ: I think this is incredibly compelling. I I I really really like this and I like the way it feels but there is
[3073.66] NJ: It's like an iphone
[3075.82] Jae: Why you can get the tripod as well. They're trying to capture the DJI market. Yeah
[3080.3] NJ: It's just a bit angular though. It's the way it feels as well
[3083.5] NJ: I think that's the important thing you probably want to pick one up and get a feel for it before you make that call
[3089.1] NJ: Um, it's tricky. I've got both my I love both
[3093.1] NJ: dx9d and that but for me right now, I love the facts a bit lighter just makes the backpack a bit lighter and
[3100.78] NJ: Yeah, this is there's a lot to like about it. And yeah
[3104.38] NJ: All right, go watch my review jack
[3106.62] Adam: Oh, I will go watch the review
[3109.5] Adam: Yeah, since it's my hard end. I was I was thinking that the reason um
[3114.22] Adam: I'm having to have jack do the hard work is because I was looking at the stuff in my attic the last time I did
[3119.58] Adam: any soldering and it was you know that massive hex, um
[3124.06] Adam: You need to be a little better at soldering than I frankly am
[3127.74] Adam: To do the little one
[3129.5] Jae: But you know
[3130.14] Jae: We've had a few guests on the show that have done the simulator thing and then more jack fpv
[3134.3] Jae: And there's a few others that popped up have just done the simulator and then gone to fly
[3137.5] Jae: So maybe this is your little weekly update how you're getting on modulator terenas so that then we're working up for sure
[3146.38] Adam: No, no what I know I mean what I really need now is to be taught how to do decent quality soldering
[3152.46] Jae: No, you don't just don't
[3154.62] Jae: You've got to learn by mistake with soldering because it's one of those fine arts like a blacksmith has to learn through
[3159.26] Jae: Mistakes, it's the same
[3162.22] Jack: So i'm sorry, you can't be just taught in that it's like it's like tony and friendship I am
[3168.62] Jack: Big mistake regards friendship i'm sorry tony. I love you
[3173.42] Jae: No, but I I think there's something about even just learning to solder
[3177.26] Jae: It's such a big big subject
[3181.9] NJ: Yeah, like having the right amount of tin keeping the solder tip clean I personally
[3187.02] NJ: Hot and fast
[3188.54] NJ: Well, I don't I prefer to use quite a hot tip going fast
[3193.18] NJ: Get the flux but then
[3194.78] NJ: It's yeah, there's so many ways to do it
[3197.82] Jae: Hidden terminals. They're all different. Yeah, it's an art form, but
[3203.02] NJ: See your face in it. It should be nice and shiny not
[3206.22] NJ: Messy and lumpy and you know all rough and yeah, no, it's got to be
[3212.3] Adam: I know about but I have to say everything i've built so far and everything, you know
[3215.98] Adam: It's flown i've finished off with yeah, it seems fine
[3220.22] Adam: That's that's the level of standard that i've got to
[3223.18] Adam: Not oh, that's shiny
[3227.1] Jae: All right
[3229.1] Adam: I've I've cruelly come along and got us running along past the end of the show
[3233.9] Adam: But maybe everyone wants to go and have the rest of their evening
[3240.23] Adam: Or not. Yeah
[3242.71] Jae: Joey see us out. Yes. Yeah. Well, thank you everyone for listening
[3246.47] Jae: Yeah, that's what makes this show possible. So and thank you jack. Thank you nj and thank you
[3254.15] Jae: Go see chris's
[3256.39] Jae: Oh, yeah, that is the last thing we've got to do have you put paste the link in again if you've got it because
[3260.79] Jack: I'll get it now. Hang on man the baptism of fire
[3264.79] UNKNOWN: But thank you all you've been listening to let's join out
