====================================

We are back this week with a guest who has helped people to develop their flying ability via some of the toughest ever quad frames that are flown around the world. Crash tested by various pilots from various heights and simply dusted off to be flown again... Martin - the man behind Fossil Stuff!

[7.28] Tony: Something's going wrong.
[9.28] Jae: Oh, it says live, Jai.
[11.28] Jae: Live, exactly.
[13.28] Jae: Running to do the show. Hello, everybody.
[15.28] Jae: And welcome back to Let's Join Out
[17.28] Jae: in the British summertime, in fact.
[21.28] Jae: I'm sorry, I'm out of breath.
[23.28] Jae: We're not used to running this show regularly on the time.
[25.28] Jae: But back to our old times sake,
[27.28] Jae: we decided to run a few minutes late.
[29.28] Jae: Hello to everyone.
[31.28] Jae: We're only, we've got a small house this week.
[33.28] Jae: Tony, it's me and you.
[35.28] Jae: Let's go.
[37.28] Tony: How you doing?
[40.62] Jae: Yeah, good. Thanks, you.
[42.62] Jae: Thank you.
[44.62] Jae: Yeah, it's been a fun week and stuff flying in London,
[46.62] Jae: but knackered, but it's good to be here.
[48.62] Jae: And it's actually about,
[50.62] Jae: I don't know, about a year ago
[52.62] Jae: when I finally first met this man
[54.62] Jae: that we've got on the guest today.
[56.62] Jae: Quite an interesting man I found from that moment there.
[58.62] Jae: It was at the mini airshow number two.
[60.62] Jae: Basically, Dom and I were walking around,
[62.62] Jae: meeting and greeting,
[64.62] Jae: and we came across the tent of lots of stuff,
[66.62] Jae: and we had refreshments there,
[68.62] Jae: and it set us up for the rest of the night
[70.62] Jae: on the Saturday night. It was a good night.
[72.62] Jae: So, we have this person who
[74.62] Jae: finally actually got onto the show as the guest,
[76.62] Jae: not just as a secondary guest who we
[78.62] Jae: appeared last year.
[80.62] Jae: We have Mr. Martin Rye,
[82.62] Jae: AKA, fossil, is that right?
[84.62] Martin Rye: Yeah, good evening, guys.
[86.62] Jae: So, Martin,
[90.32] Jae: obviously,
[92.32] Jae: you've been quite in this hobby,
[94.32] Jae: and you've been shaping a lot of this hobby, actually.
[96.32] Jae: I've seen your quads fly, or your designs fly,
[98.32] Jae: and smash into grounds from
[100.32] Jae: all sorts of angles and speeds
[102.32] Jae: from all sorts of heights,
[104.32] Jae: and they seem to just get up and go up again.
[106.32] Jae: I mean, I wouldn't say
[108.32] Jae: indestructible, but
[110.32] Martin Rye: very neat, too.
[112.32] Martin Rye: No, they're not indestructible, no.
[114.32] Martin Rye: They do come with a
[116.32] Martin Rye: limited lifetime warranty.
[118.32] Martin Rye: But,
[120.32] Martin Rye: yeah, they do break,
[122.32] Martin Rye: and I must have replaced, probably,
[124.32] Martin Rye: I don't know, 60 or 70 frames
[126.32] Martin Rye: by now.
[128.32] Martin Rye: I keep thinking about
[130.32] Martin Rye: taking a picture of them all, like, I've saved
[132.32] Martin Rye: every single one of them.
[134.32] Martin Rye: All the details are where they've broken.
[136.32] Martin Rye: Yeah,
[138.32] Martin Rye: it's
[140.32] Martin Rye: nice touch, I think, and
[142.32] Martin Rye: people prefer a bit more
[144.32] Martin Rye: for that.
[146.32] Martin Rye: And I think it's
[148.32] Martin Rye: worth every penny.
[151.79] Jae: I mean, I think that
[153.79] Jae: when I'm telling people that want to get into it,
[155.79] Jae: I would say get a frame such as the fossil stuff
[157.79] Jae: of those materials, because
[159.79] Jae: they do take the nocks a lot harder.
[161.79] Jae: I mean,
[163.79] Jae: I wish I had something similar when I started,
[165.79] Jae: but really,
[167.79] Jae: the aviation
[169.79] Jae: history for you is
[171.79] Jae: much, much earlier than that, is it not?
[173.79] Jae: I mean, how did you get from
[175.79] Jae: where you got to in your history, if you don't mind
[177.79] Jae: giving us a brief update,
[179.79] Jae: about what you need, James?
[181.79] Martin Rye: Well, it's all started off, I suppose, many
[183.79] Martin Rye: years ago, and Chobham Collin, with my father
[185.79] Martin Rye: flying
[187.79] Martin Rye: a
[189.79] Martin Rye: high wing
[191.79] Martin Rye: monoplane, basically just a normal
[193.79] Martin Rye: plane with the old, really
[195.79] Martin Rye: old RC
[197.79] Martin Rye: kit with a push button
[199.79] Martin Rye: to turn the rudder
[201.79] Martin Rye: left and right with a
[203.79] Martin Rye: rubber band driven estate.
[205.79] Martin Rye: And with the great fun,
[207.79] Martin Rye: and then I built
[209.79] Martin Rye: several gliders, chucked them off the top of the hill,
[211.79] Martin Rye: watched them crash, and then
[213.79] Martin Rye: go back and rebuild them.
[215.79] Martin Rye: Then a long break
[217.79] Martin Rye: from it all, then got into
[219.79] Martin Rye: RC thermal saurists
[221.79] Martin Rye: at school.
[223.79] Martin Rye: Obviously a big playing field,
[225.79] Martin Rye: great, which is tail line launch,
[227.79] Martin Rye: about
[231.3] Martin Rye: four or five minute flights, but it was
[233.3] Martin Rye: unbelievable.
[235.3] Martin Rye: Then another
[237.3] Martin Rye: big break, and then
[239.3] Martin Rye: moved to where I am now,
[241.3] Martin Rye: and got into
[243.3] Martin Rye: electric flight, with
[245.3] Martin Rye: electric saurists.
[247.3] Martin Rye: Again, just lying in
[249.3] Martin Rye: long grass,
[252.67] Martin Rye: transmitter on your tummy,
[254.67] Martin Rye: and just
[256.67] Martin Rye: the gliders would be probably a couple thousand feet
[258.67] Martin Rye: above the clouds sometimes.
[260.67] Martin Rye: You'd have to
[262.67] Martin Rye: just be lying on your back.
[264.67] Martin Rye: To me, that was
[266.67] Martin Rye: very similar,
[268.67] Martin Rye: almost
[270.67] Martin Rye: sort of addictive as
[272.67] Martin Rye: flying.
[274.67] Martin Rye: It was like
[276.67] Martin Rye: every night, get that thing in the air.
[278.67] Martin Rye: But no, now quads are the way to go.
[282.37] Martin Rye: There's the FPV,
[284.37] Martin Rye: you're actually in it.
[286.37] Martin Rye: But there's still
[288.37] Martin Rye: mileage in the thermal saurists of FPV.
[290.37] Martin Rye: It was interesting,
[292.37] Jae: because Don Robinson
[294.37] Jae: mentioned that he
[296.37] Jae: was the one behind the Mini Ansho the last couple of years.
[298.37] Jae: He was going out recently
[300.37] Jae: with his glider, just
[302.37] Jae: slope soaring. The one thing that really
[304.37] Jae: struck home was he said he could get
[306.37] Jae: half an hour flights out of it
[308.37] Jae: on one battery. It's unheard of
[310.37] Jae: for these days with anyone who hasn't flown
[312.37] Jae: a glider or something.
[314.37] Martin Rye: Slope soaring, you can actually hit the wind, right?
[316.37] Martin Rye: You can fly all day. Some of your
[318.37] Martin Rye: batteries last.
[320.37] Martin Rye: It's just
[322.37] Martin Rye: using the thermal, I'm more interested
[324.37] Martin Rye: in the thermal soaring, personally.
[326.37] Martin Rye: But a lot of times I do it with fossil stuff.
[328.37] Martin Rye: But I've got a big four meter
[330.37] Martin Rye: Chris Foss design
[332.37] Martin Rye: up in the loft, which we're going to,
[334.37] Martin Rye: well hopefully I'm going to FPV.
[336.37] Martin Rye: This is
[338.37] Martin Rye: a big
[340.37] Martin Rye: 24 inch prop on it.
[342.37] Martin Rye: Folding, obviously.
[344.37] Martin Rye: And just get it up there and hit some
[346.37] Martin Rye: serious height. Hopefully not get into
[348.37] Martin Rye: too much trouble.
[350.37] Jae: I mean what sort of things
[352.37] Jae: is the wing made off of
[354.37] Jae: on this massive wingspan glider?
[356.37] Jae: Is it just bolster in?
[358.37] Martin Rye: Oh it's a foam wing, a veneer foam wing.
[360.37] Martin Rye: Bulsar fuselage.
[362.37] Martin Rye: Bulsar, a lovely material, there's no
[364.37] Martin Rye: doubt about it.
[366.37] Martin Rye: I think it's very underestimated.
[368.37] Martin Rye: You may well see it's
[370.37] Martin Rye: placed in quad frames
[372.37] Martin Rye: yet. Not, I don't know,
[374.37] Martin Rye: I'm just messing around with some ideas.
[376.37] Martin Rye: It's very, very...
[379.68] Martin Rye: You've got
[381.68] Martin Rye: to play with different materials and
[383.68] Martin Rye: it's a shame Bulsar, because
[385.68] Martin Rye: the trouble with Bulsar is
[387.68] Martin Rye: it's very time consuming to build
[389.68] Martin Rye: anything in Bulsar.
[391.68] Martin Rye: It's a laborious
[393.68] Martin Rye: job and a labour
[395.68] Martin Rye: of love basically. That's why
[397.68] Martin Rye: I don't think people do that.
[399.68] Martin Rye: I don't think they did find that.
[401.68] Martin Rye: They like buying EPM foam things
[403.68] Martin Rye: from Hobby King and
[405.68] Martin Rye: it's not quite the same as it used to be.
[407.68] Jae: I mean
[409.68] Jae: when I first put a glider, I had to put it together.
[411.68] Jae: I didn't put it together very well to build it.
[413.68] Jae: But the second thing was that
[415.68] Jae: laser cut Bulsar planes
[417.68] Jae: and things were amazing. They just go together like jigsaws.
[419.68] Jae: So actually I could have the love of
[421.68] Jae: the Bulsar build
[423.68] Jae: with the ease of
[425.68] Jae: not having to cut every single part out.
[427.68] Jae: But that takes true workmanship to do that.
[429.68] Jae: You would have had to do it in the past.
[431.68] Martin Rye: I suppose I'm really chatting about
[433.68] Martin Rye: stuff probably more long term
[435.68] Martin Rye: with the flying wings
[437.68] Martin Rye: I've just seen a new specification
[439.68] Martin Rye: for the flying wings.
[441.68] Martin Rye: And actually
[443.68] Martin Rye: it's almost like Formula One.
[445.68] Martin Rye: It's open, totally open.
[447.68] Martin Rye: Carbon spars and foam.
[449.68] Martin Rye: Well that takes you into
[451.68] Martin Rye: another world compared with what
[453.68] Martin Rye: everyone's producing now.
[455.68] Martin Rye: And the
[457.68] Martin Rye: potential of
[459.68] Martin Rye: increased performance is
[461.68] Martin Rye: unbelievable.
[463.68] Martin Rye: Foam is
[465.68] Martin Rye: and it specifically
[467.68] Martin Rye: says just foam and then it lists
[469.68] Martin Rye: all the EPM. There are some
[475.01] Martin Rye: foams out there that are
[477.01] Martin Rye: certainly in the marine industry
[479.01] Martin Rye: and actually in the
[481.01] Martin Rye: aircraft industry
[484.51] Martin Rye: we'll just open this right up
[486.51] Martin Rye: and we're going to be producing some amazing wings.
[488.51] Martin Rye: Not fossil stuff.
[490.51] Jae: No but as in the
[492.51] Martin Rye: everything.
[494.51] Martin Rye: Carbon spars is
[496.51] Martin Rye: a very open
[498.51] Martin Rye: term.
[500.51] Martin Rye: I think what you can do with a carbon spark
[502.51] Martin Rye: most of the stuff we see now is
[504.51] Martin Rye: 2mm diameter little rods
[506.51] Martin Rye: pushed into a bit of foam
[508.51] Martin Rye: a few bit of spars
[512.05] Martin Rye: 16mm diameter
[514.05] Martin Rye: with some really
[516.05] Martin Rye: really top end foam
[518.05] Martin Rye: all machined
[520.05] Martin Rye: flying wings are going to be
[522.05] Martin Rye: absolutely
[524.05] Martin Rye: crazy.
[526.05] Martin Rye: Very very light, very very strong.
[529.3] Martin Rye: Sorry I'm rambling.
[531.3] Jae: No no no it's fascinating.
[533.3] Jae: Obviously DJI
[535.3] Jae: released their Matrice
[537.3] Jae: 200 recently and they're selling it as
[539.3] Jae: in all weather you can fly it in the rain
[541.3] Jae: or adverse weather conditions
[543.3] Jae: and I guess I was thinking along the
[545.3] Jae: lines that
[547.3] Jae: the wings are also very popular for mapping
[549.3] Jae: and things but the one thing that they don't
[551.3] Jae: handle the extreme weather
[553.3] Jae: or not necessarily just wings but all these
[555.3] Jae: sort of aircraft whether it's a quadcopter
[557.3] Jae: or whatever.
[559.3] Jae: They don't seem to handle the adverse weather conditions
[561.3] Jae: in the best way and I'm thinking all these new materials
[563.3] Jae: will actually enable more
[565.3] Jae: search and rescue or whatever aspect of
[567.3] Jae: Well possibly Jay.
[569.3] Martin Rye: Bad weather flying you need.
[571.3] Martin Rye: I don't know obviously small aircraft
[573.3] Martin Rye: are susceptible to strong winds
[575.3] Martin Rye: whether they're a fine wing
[577.3] Martin Rye: or a drone so
[579.3] Martin Rye: that may be a problem
[581.3] Martin Rye: to overcome
[583.3] Martin Rye: but yeah the minute I think we are
[585.3] Martin Rye: going to sort of fair weather
[587.3] Martin Rye: flying whatever we are
[589.3] Martin Rye: whether it's a wing or a drone.
[591.3] Martin Rye: Anyway this is a drone show. Can we talk about some drones?
[593.3] Jae: Well if you're going to start
[595.3] Jae: saying I'm going to put a big sock on this and fly it
[597.3] Jae: around my point then we're going to be okay.
[599.3] Jae: Now obviously I mean you haven't been producing planes though.
[601.3] Jae: I mean
[603.3] Jae: the Revo stuff
[605.3] Jae: Tony you've been doing these like
[607.3] Jae: 100 meter ascent stuff and obviously the Revo
[609.3] Jae: frame was thinking outside the box of
[611.3] Jae: minimising the amount of potential drag
[613.3] Jae: arms and Tony
[615.3] Jae: how have you been getting on with your speed records?
[619.3] Tony: I haven't said any yet I think.
[621.3] Tony: We've done Revo stuff. We've done
[623.3] Tony: 100 mile an hour with the Revo
[625.3] Tony: which is quite easy. I think we've got
[627.3] Tony: fossil stuff meeting this Sunday
[629.3] Tony: so I'm hoping Chris
[631.3] Tony: is going to bring out his 6S and we're
[633.3] Tony: going to
[635.3] Tony: get the radar done out again Sunday
[637.3] Tony: and have another go.
[639.3] Tony: Excellent.
[642.3] Jae: Sorry?
[644.3] Jae: What sort of speeds are you hoping to get to then?
[646.3] Tony: I don't know I think
[648.3] Tony: I think it's 127 mile an hour at the moment.
[653.3] Tony: We've done 100
[655.3] Tony: quite easy
[657.3] Tony: so I think we could do
[659.3] Martin Rye: Oh you've got to go 112 at the moment.
[661.3] Tony: Oh we're up to 112 are we?
[663.3] Tony: Yeah. Wow.
[665.3] Tony: That's good. I reckon we could do
[667.3] Tony: 130.
[669.3] Tony: I reckon it's quite possible.
[671.3] Jae: Well I mean are you going to
[673.3] Jae: sort of be filming this? Hopefully we'll
[675.3] Jae: all get to see some of these attempts of
[677.3] Jae: speed records.
[679.3] Tony: Yeah so I'm going to do a whole
[681.3] Tony: sort of vlog on the Sunday
[683.3] Tony: meet except for the secret
[685.3] Tony: stuff that we're going to be discussing
[687.3] Tony: but yeah.
[689.3] Jae: Yeah.
[691.3] Jae: We can't talk to you about that.
[693.3] Jae: Don't worry we'll abduct you and we'll
[695.3] Jae: torch you until you're done.
[697.3] Martin Rye: Can I ask a question?
[699.3] Martin Rye: How many people
[701.3] Martin Rye: watch the Joshua Bardwell
[703.3] Martin Rye: motor story, the 58
[705.3] Martin Rye: minutes worth with
[707.3] Martin Rye: Brian Harrell. I thought that was amazing.
[709.3] Jae: Okay I actually added to my
[711.3] Jae: watch later but I didn't get to
[713.3] Martin Rye: tell you was it today?
[715.3] Jae: Yesterday it was very recent wasn't it?
[717.3] Tony: Two days ago I think.
[719.3] Tony: Didn't register a day before yeah.
[721.3] Jae: I've only just learned this. Have you seen it Tony?
[723.3] Tony: No I started to watch it and then got
[725.3] Tony: distracted but it is in my replay
[727.3] Tony: list so I need to watch it.
[729.3] Jae: Become a man, spill the beans, what was the interest?
[731.3] Tony: It's about the new RS motors
[733.3] Martin Rye: in Italy. Yeah he was just saying
[735.3] Martin Rye: well they're really worth it.
[737.3] Martin Rye: I can't sum up
[739.3] Martin Rye: an hour's worth of chat in seconds
[741.3] Martin Rye: but the question is
[743.3] Martin Rye: that I did learn an awful lot from it.
[745.3] Martin Rye: Very interesting guys
[747.3] Martin Rye: certainly Ryan
[749.3] Martin Rye: very clever guy and really
[751.3] Martin Rye: worth a listen so I recommend
[753.3] Martin Rye: it to anyone.
[755.3] Tony: Might have to listen to that again tonight.
[757.3] Jae: Yeah he's quite
[759.3] Jae: an interesting person I'm not sure.
[761.3] Martin Rye: Very very clever guy
[763.3] Martin Rye: a lot of respect for him.
[765.3] Jae: So come on I'm
[767.3] Jae: more interested as well in this 100 meter
[769.3] Jae: ascent because what motors were you
[771.3] Jae: running on yours at the time? I mean surely
[773.3] Jae: your 100 meter, my 13 miles
[775.3] Jae: an hour, 130 whatever you're going to get
[777.3] Jae: going up. Surely or along
[779.3] Jae: from a Tony.
[781.3] Jae: I want you to see more scratched cameras
[783.3] Jae: because I mean that message from Jack.
[785.3] Jae: Oh my lens! It was priceless.
[787.3] Tony: That wasn't even the
[789.3] Tony: Revo. That was a
[791.3] Tony: 210 gravity.
[793.3] Tony: Yeah 210 that was.
[795.3] Tony: And that was running the EMAX 2600
[797.3] Tony: KV.
[799.3] Tony: The old ones.
[801.3] Tony: The old is gold because
[803.3] Tony: I've heard a lot of the new ones
[805.3] Tony: are dropping magnets
[807.3] Tony: quite quickly.
[809.3] Jae: Yeah I mean
[811.3] Jae: I actually was trying to find some
[813.3] Jae: new motors for a new build this week and I finally got
[815.3] Jae: my Cobra 2207
[817.3] Jae: ship from Germany.
[819.3] Jae: It's taken about three days. There's no
[821.3] Jae: UK stock or two
[823.3] Jae: in some signs.
[825.3] Tony: I've just got some new
[827.3] Tony: motors for my next Revo
[829.3] Tony: which
[831.3] Tony: I've got the brother hobby 2600
[833.3] Tony: the older ones.
[835.3] Tony: I've got some of
[837.3] Tony: them to try so hopefully
[839.3] Tony: they're going to be nice.
[841.3] Tony: I mean I've run the 2600
[843.3] Tony: EMAX the old ones. They're really
[845.3] Tony: really fast. They're so much faster than the 2300
[847.3] Tony: but when I used to
[849.3] Tony: run carrying a GoPro
[851.3] Tony: or if I do run carrying a GoPro
[853.3] Tony: it doesn't half eat your battery and
[855.3] Tony: you land and your battery is like
[857.3] Tony: boiling hot and
[859.3] Tony: you know but not
[861.3] Tony: having a GoPro on the Revo
[863.3] Tony: it doesn't even get warm and you
[865.3] Tony: do two and a half minutes
[867.3] Tony: really really fast.
[869.3] Jae: See at some point we're going
[871.3] Jae: to have to have improvement in camera technology
[873.3] Jae: where it's not that much of a drain to have the
[875.3] Jae: weight of something on there.
[877.3] Jae: But I guess that's
[879.3] Tony: far off.
[881.3] Tony: Yeah we've got to wait for that haven't we.
[883.3] Tony: I mean it's round the corner.
[885.3] Jae: I mean I'm amazed at how different
[887.3] Jae: the Accord feels without a yeet which is a house brick
[889.3] Jae: slapped to the thumb.
[891.3] Jae: But I mean I'm a fan of
[893.3] Jae: recording my HVD footage because I think I can see
[895.3] Jae: more in my flights afterwards when I'm studying my
[897.3] Jae: flight back.
[899.3] Jae: Because when I noticed that in the FPV
[901.3] Jae: oscillations and things like that.
[903.3] Jae: So I'm a massive fan of it.
[905.3] Jae: Can I say something? Yeah of course.
[907.3] Martin Rye: You've got to guess. Of course you can.
[909.3] Martin Rye: Do you think possibly
[911.3] Martin Rye: that strapping a GoPro or a
[913.3] Martin Rye: session or whatever you call
[915.3] Martin Rye: these things, run cams, on a
[917.3] Martin Rye: topic called become
[919.3] Martin Rye: obsolete very shortly with high definition
[921.3] Martin Rye: BTX is
[923.3] Jae: everything else.
[925.3] Jae: And HD, maybe HD Link, yes.
[927.3] Jae: You see
[929.3] Jae: it's still
[931.3] Tony: a long while
[933.3] Tony: off I think.
[935.3] Jae: Somebody once said to me that all technology
[937.3] Jae: that we experience as civilians all came
[939.3] Jae: from military tech. And it's like
[941.3] Jae: at the time I tried to say nah, surely there's something that's
[943.3] Jae: not. And actually if you think
[945.3] Jae: a lot of it is developed from it.
[947.3] Jae: Now the technology that exists at the moment
[949.3] Jae: in the military
[951.3] Jae: spec is a lot more advanced than HD
[953.3] Jae: and the links are going to be stronger and everything because that's where
[955.3] Jae: all the development's been at. So I think
[957.3] Jae: it'd be interesting when it
[959.3] Jae: starts to filter down.
[961.3] Jae: If you know what I mean.
[963.3] Tony: It comes from
[965.3] Tony: aliens. It was the Roswell crash.
[967.3] Martin Rye: I thought that you'd just plug it in your
[969.3] Martin Rye: Revo there Tony.
[971.3] Tony: Comes in from
[973.3] Tony: Roswell.
[975.3] Tony: That's the technology.
[978.3] Tony: I still think
[980.3] Tony: the HD's still got
[982.3] Tony: I reckon a year, at least a year
[984.3] Tony: before they get it right.
[986.3] Tony: It may be more.
[988.3] Tony: Yeah it could be right.
[990.3] Jae: I think HD is in the format
[992.3] Jae: that is widescreen. I can't fly widescreen
[994.3] Jae: I'm too used to 4x3.
[996.3] Tony: Yeah, that's another thing.
[998.3] Jae: Do you fly 4x3? You're a standard aren't you?
[1001.3] Jae: Yeah.
[1003.3] Jae: So what are you planning these days Martin?
[1005.3] Jae: Obviously you probably have four of things
[1007.3] Jae: you can fly but other than the glider
[1009.3] Martin Rye: I love my Revo 4.
[1012.3] Martin Rye: I've got a 6, a 4,
[1015.3] Martin Rye: a 5, a 3.
[1019.3] Martin Rye: I'm working on the 2 that I'm working on tonight.
[1022.3] Martin Rye: And I flew the Predator
[1024.3] Martin Rye: tonight. Just
[1026.3] Martin Rye: doing some battery testing. But
[1028.3] Martin Rye: the 4 to me, Revo 4
[1030.3] Martin Rye: on the
[1032.3] Martin Rye: what have I got on there? DYS
[1034.3] Martin Rye: the 2750s
[1036.3] Martin Rye: it's just nuts.
[1038.3] Martin Rye: Two blades, two blade dowels.
[1040.3] Martin Rye: To me that's all I need
[1042.3] Martin Rye: it's just mental.
[1046.3] Tony: I want to have a go at that
[1048.3] Tony: for a Sunday night
[1050.3] Tony: in the 4 inches.
[1052.3] Martin Rye: The 5 is nice, I think
[1054.3] Martin Rye: I'm wrong but
[1056.3] Martin Rye: to me it feels like a boat.
[1058.3] Martin Rye: The 6 is a big boat
[1060.3] Martin Rye: but the 4 is where
[1063.3] Martin Rye: and the 3 was fun when we
[1065.3] Martin Rye: and the minute we're still developing the 3
[1067.3] Martin Rye: we're only on printed mounts
[1069.3] Martin Rye: motor mounts and they keep bloody snapping so
[1071.3] Martin Rye: I'm still waiting for many and many months to come in
[1074.3] Martin Rye: for the man down the road.
[1077.3] Martin Rye: But the 3 has got something about the 3 as well
[1079.3] Martin Rye: I can't put my finger on it.
[1082.3] Martin Rye: The small stuff I do enjoy.
[1087.3] Martin Rye: To answer your question, Revo 4 is my special
[1091.3] Jae: sweet spot in that size range.
[1093.3] Jae: It's interesting because
[1095.3] Jae: NJ Tech sadly can't make it here tonight
[1097.3] Jae: he's not only building the Revo
[1099.3] Jae: but he's been flying at 130 size
[1101.3] Jae: and he put it off for ages
[1103.3] Jae: he didn't want to build this thing and
[1105.3] Jae: since he built it with a proper
[1107.3] Jae: HSC1177 camera and
[1109.3] Jae: GTX and everything so it's not really the micro builder's
[1111.3] Jae: proper brushless with proper ESC
[1113.3] Jae: it's amazing how everything flies
[1115.3] Jae: and actually those smaller size things
[1117.3] Jae: just give you more spaces to fly
[1119.3] Jae: and more gaps to get through.
[1121.3] Jae: More time?
[1123.3] Jae: Yeah, more time.
[1125.3] Jae: And slowly there is
[1127.3] Jae: that constant trend as technology improves
[1129.3] Jae: for the smaller scale
[1131.3] Jae: it is still progressing downwards isn't it?
[1133.3] Martin Rye: As I say, the Revo 3 flies
[1135.3] Martin Rye: as well as
[1137.3] Martin Rye: if not better
[1139.3] Martin Rye: than the original gravity
[1141.3] Martin Rye: the 1806 by a long way
[1143.3] Martin Rye: it's moving so fast
[1147.3] Martin Rye: everything
[1149.3] Martin Rye: does
[1153.09] Tony: I know you buy something
[1155.09] Tony: you buy something and it's gone
[1157.09] Tony: a week later it's crap
[1159.09] Tony: well
[1161.09] Jae: in some aspects I think
[1163.09] Jae: it's not really crap actually
[1165.09] Jae: things that I bought for my QAVR last
[1167.09] Jae: year and it's been my own real quad
[1169.09] Jae: flying for that year was my
[1171.09] Jae: bits that nowadays I wouldn't
[1173.09] Jae: buy again but it's still a
[1175.09] Jae: worthy thing
[1177.09] Tony: you see ESCs
[1179.09] Tony: they're like we've got some small ones
[1181.09] Tony: you buy the small ones and then someone
[1183.09] Tony: posted I think Rich HVIGO
[1185.09] Tony: posted the new Emacs ones
[1187.09] Tony: they're the size of the keyboard key
[1189.09] Jae: yeah
[1191.09] Tony: so that's the next thing
[1193.09] Tony: so my ESCs are now
[1195.09] Tony: shit that I've just spent 120 quid on
[1197.09] Jae: we have so much progress
[1199.09] Jae: because the amount of value of this
[1201.09] Jae: whole industry is growing in constantly
[1203.09] Jae: so welcome the change and
[1205.09] Jae: welcome the progression and welcome
[1207.09] Jae: as though your previous stuff feels rubbish
[1209.09] Jae: because it's only last year
[1211.09] Jae: I appreciate the cutting edge of hobby
[1213.09] Tony: science
[1215.09] Tony: my wallet doesn't appreciate any of it
[1217.09] Jae: well a hobby and professional
[1219.09] Jae: science I guess
[1221.09] Jae: no it doesn't
[1223.09] Jae: I can't afford it
[1225.09] Jae: some months
[1227.09] Jae: I can't watch it crash
[1229.09] Jae: I say it crashing and rebuilding
[1231.09] Jae: so any
[1233.09] Jae: plans from you Martin then to potentially
[1235.09] Jae: move smaller then
[1237.09] Jae: with your range of quads other than the 3
[1239.09] Jae: inch like the micro brushes or anything like that
[1241.09] Jae: to the indoor season ahead
[1243.09] Martin Rye: the problem with that Joe is
[1245.09] Martin Rye: as a frame manufacturer
[1248.88] Martin Rye: there's nothing to it is there
[1250.88] Martin Rye: you've got a piece of carbon that's
[1252.88] Martin Rye: 90 million circumference
[1254.88] Martin Rye: and it's worth about
[1256.88] Martin Rye: 3 quid
[1258.88] Martin Rye: so the money
[1260.88] Martin Rye: it's not worth
[1262.88] Martin Rye: it's a good girl but obviously
[1264.88] Martin Rye: it's almost like a
[1266.88] Martin Rye: giveaway with a frame
[1268.88] Martin Rye: you know the other
[1270.88] Jae: I think interesting thing is that
[1272.88] Jae: sometimes the
[1274.88] Jae: the number of clones that come out based
[1276.88] Jae: on a copy of a good design appeared quickly
[1278.88] Jae: on that
[1280.88] Jae: I know Alex Greve was mentioning
[1282.88] Jae: some of his antennas and how they're just getting
[1284.88] Martin Rye: copied
[1286.88] Martin Rye: the guy's got serious problems
[1288.88] Martin Rye: at me and I feel very sorry for Alex
[1290.88] Jae: yeah you know I can spend a time
[1292.88] Jae: effort and development
[1294.88] Jae: for someone to just walk along
[1296.88] Martin Rye: fossil stuff has been
[1298.88] Martin Rye: copied let's say
[1300.88] Martin Rye: by
[1302.88] Martin Rye: a fair few manufacturers now
[1304.88] Martin Rye: and it is frustrating
[1306.88] Martin Rye: but
[1308.88] Martin Rye: Alex has gone down a bad road
[1310.88] Martin Rye: and I'm not sure that's the way to go
[1312.88] Jae: well that was his largest bust wasn't it
[1314.88] Jae: of investment
[1318.22] Martin Rye: a lot of money
[1320.22] Martin Rye: a lot of money
[1322.22] Martin Rye: the subject of patents because I've been down that road
[1324.22] Martin Rye: with another product another company
[1326.22] Martin Rye: and it's serious
[1328.22] Martin Rye: money and it doesn't get you anywhere the only people that
[1330.22] Martin Rye: make the money out of other lawyers
[1332.22] Martin Rye: and the patent down is
[1334.22] Martin Rye: just leave it alone
[1336.22] Martin Rye: it's not
[1338.22] Martin Rye: worth getting involved you've just got to
[1340.22] Martin Rye: accept that
[1342.22] Martin Rye: if you're an innovator
[1344.22] Martin Rye: you are going to get copied but
[1346.22] Martin Rye: I am a firm believer that the original is
[1348.22] Martin Rye: the best
[1351.92] Martin Rye: so much more thought has gone into it
[1353.92] Martin Rye: from the originator
[1355.92] Martin Rye: i.e. Alex
[1357.92] Martin Rye: myself
[1359.92] Martin Rye: it's months and months and months of work
[1361.92] Martin Rye: hard work
[1365.62] Martin Rye: it's not just a bloody two day job
[1367.62] Martin Rye: knocking out
[1369.62] Martin Rye: every hole
[1371.62] Martin Rye: every slot is considered
[1373.62] Martin Rye: every screw hole and I'm saying with Alex
[1375.62] Martin Rye: I'm sure
[1377.62] Martin Rye: his production
[1379.62] Martin Rye: the volume he's turning out is immense
[1381.62] Martin Rye: and every
[1383.62] Martin Rye: antenna has to be thoroughly
[1385.62] Martin Rye: thought about
[1387.62] Martin Rye: every component
[1389.62] Martin Rye: how he's going to solve it
[1391.62] Martin Rye: I can't imagine what that guy is going through
[1393.62] Martin Rye: and I do feel very sorry for him
[1395.62] Martin Rye: very very sorry
[1397.62] Jae: it's sad for everyone else as well when somebody who
[1399.62] Jae: obviously brings a lot to our
[1401.62] Jae: industry and our pastime
[1403.62] Jae: our hobby whatever you want to call it
[1405.62] Jae: is contemplating just stopping because
[1407.62] Martin Rye: I've thought about that
[1409.62] Martin Rye: more than once
[1411.62] Martin Rye: to be perfectly honest
[1413.62] Martin Rye: but my art is in it
[1415.62] Martin Rye: and I still think there's a huge
[1417.62] Martin Rye: potential in the industry
[1419.62] Martin Rye: for a lot of people for everyone
[1421.62] Martin Rye: but being ripped off is
[1423.62] Martin Rye: pretty upsetting
[1425.62] Jae: yeah
[1427.62] Martin Rye: but it's going to happen and you've got to accept it
[1429.62] Jae: well often it's a mark
[1431.62] Jae: it's kind of a compliment in a horrible
[1433.62] Jae: way because obviously you did only copy a great
[1435.62] Jae: design and something that works
[1437.62] Jae: so actually there's one, the only thing you can
[1439.62] Jae: take from a benefit is the fact that
[1441.62] Jae: they copied your fantastic door
[1443.62] Jae: whoever's fan has it's fine
[1445.62] Martin Rye: yeah but I think people like myself
[1447.62] Martin Rye: Alex and other great innovators
[1449.62] Martin Rye: in the industry will succeed
[1451.62] Martin Rye: and they will keep going because that's what they do
[1453.62] Martin Rye: and
[1457.02] Martin Rye: it's a bit like something like
[1459.02] Martin Rye: Dice, James Dice
[1461.02] Martin Rye: you know
[1463.02] Martin Rye: his products are getting ripped off
[1465.02] Martin Rye: but at the end of the day he was the originator
[1467.02] Martin Rye: he's still very very strong in the industry
[1469.02] Martin Rye: and the originators
[1471.02] Martin Rye: I do think
[1473.02] Martin Rye: because they stick at it
[1475.02] Martin Rye: will
[1477.02] Martin Rye: and still be the best
[1479.02] Martin Rye: yeah
[1481.02] Jae: I agree
[1483.02] Jae: I mean there was one idea I heard when I run
[1485.02] Jae: these science workshops for British Science Week
[1487.02] Jae: and there was one suggestion because I
[1489.02] Jae: opened up to the kids, what would you make
[1491.02] Jae: one out of and wood comes up
[1493.02] Jae: quite often, I think that's good
[1495.02] Jae: but one kid
[1497.02] Jae: I think he'd just been on a class
[1499.02] Jae: relating to this, the pottery
[1501.02] UNKNOWN: bless
[1503.02] Jae: no pottery's probably not the right
[1505.02] Jae: material for these things but
[1507.02] Jae: you know like I guess
[1509.02] Jae: what I found
[1511.02] Jae: was the kids are loving this
[1513.02] Jae: stuff and the workshops always booked up
[1515.02] Jae: it's a free thing but they're always booked up
[1517.02] Jae: and the schools are trying
[1519.02] Jae: to get these on board and stuff so
[1521.02] Jae: I guess
[1523.02] Jae: the technology itself, whether it's a branded thing and
[1525.02] Jae: whether it's stuff like that, the technology itself
[1527.02] Jae: is always going to be progressing and desired
[1529.02] Jae: even from an educational point of view
[1531.02] Jae: from a technology point of view
[1533.02] Jae: and hopefully
[1535.02] Jae: there's people that still want to progress
[1537.02] Jae: and give to the community whether it's through
[1539.02] Jae: a hardware design or even open source software
[1541.02] Jae: to develop things and make things forward
[1543.02] Martin Rye: hmm
[1547.39] Martin Rye: where do you stop
[1549.39] Martin Rye: the school thing you just
[1551.39] Martin Rye: brushed on, it's something that
[1553.39] Martin Rye: lots of stuff is very keen to get involved with
[1555.39] Martin Rye: hmm
[1557.39] Jae: well I say train the kids now
[1559.39] Jae: and they'll make the legislation in our favour
[1561.39] Jae: later on, it's a long game we have to
[1563.39] Jae: play
[1565.39] Jae: actually that's the future isn't it
[1567.39] Jae: the kids are going to develop this further as they learn
[1569.39] Jae: and they go through school learning their science and their
[1571.39] Jae: maths and everything of how to apply it to these things
[1573.39] Jae: because they're cool and
[1575.39] Jae: we'll probably see it on the government
[1577.39] Martin Rye: but I did
[1579.39] Martin Rye: there's a lot more to it than
[1581.39] Martin Rye: just the building of things
[1583.39] Martin Rye: there's the
[1585.39] Martin Rye: theory of flight
[1587.39] Martin Rye: and I think one of the
[1589.39] Martin Rye: most important things is that when it goes
[1591.39] Martin Rye: wrong that they can
[1593.39] Martin Rye: learn some troubleshooting
[1595.39] Martin Rye: at the moment kids
[1597.39] Martin Rye: can't pick up a screwdriver and
[1599.39] Martin Rye: mend something, you know Lego
[1601.39] Martin Rye: and Macano, I suppose when you're
[1603.39] Martin Rye: very very young Lego is
[1605.39] Martin Rye: the youngest is 16
[1607.39] Martin Rye: years old, 18 years old
[1609.39] Martin Rye: you're always going to mend something
[1611.39] Martin Rye: with a change of plug they wouldn't have a screw
[1613.39] Martin Rye: sounds like me
[1615.39] Martin Rye: it's me
[1617.39] Martin Rye: no Tony you have a go
[1619.39] Martin Rye: but a lot of them don't even have a go
[1621.39] Martin Rye: because there's a chuck in a bin by a new one
[1623.39] Martin Rye: but to learn
[1625.39] Martin Rye: about problems and how to
[1627.39] Martin Rye: solve them
[1629.39] Martin Rye: you know we're all going through it
[1631.39] Martin Rye: bloody motor won't spin properly
[1633.39] Martin Rye: why doesn't it spin properly
[1635.39] Martin Rye: well is it the SC or the flight controller
[1637.39] Martin Rye: how am I to have my spoon too tight
[1639.39] Martin Rye: well yeah
[1641.39] Martin Rye: simple things
[1643.39] Martin Rye: to find that problem
[1645.39] Martin Rye: and to actually overcome it
[1647.39] Martin Rye: and get the bloody thing
[1649.39] Martin Rye: in the air again it's just elation
[1651.39] Martin Rye: you think yes I've done it
[1653.39] Martin Rye: and the kids could be doing
[1655.39] Martin Rye: this and really really
[1657.39] Martin Rye: learning
[1659.39] Martin Rye: an awful lot not just about
[1661.39] Martin Rye: building quads but it's almost about
[1663.39] Martin Rye: life you know overcome problems
[1665.39] Martin Rye: I don't know
[1668.67] Jae: you know
[1670.67] Jae: as in people often share
[1672.67] Jae: it's the STEM project but I even say
[1674.67] Jae: that it's more of a steam project
[1676.67] Jae: incorporating the arts because even now
[1678.67] Jae: Intel and other companies in China
[1680.67] Jae: are doing these as display performances
[1682.67] Jae: even at the Super Bowl
[1684.67] Jae: so it's even an artistic aspect so you've got
[1686.67] Jae: the science
[1688.67] Jae: the engineering you've got all aspects
[1690.67] Jae: of the maths and the science and the arts
[1692.67] Jae: it's such an interesting scope
[1694.67] Jae: for a teaching and
[1696.67] Jae: education environment
[1698.67] Martin Rye: it is definitely yeah the D&T
[1700.67] Martin Rye: departments and schools should be
[1702.67] Martin Rye: seriously looking at this and
[1704.67] Martin Rye: offering it to the kids
[1706.67] Martin Rye: as an option
[1708.67] Martin Rye: whatever
[1710.67] Jae: one slide I show
[1712.67] Jae: some pictures of it is one that's built on
[1714.67] Jae: Lego I mean it's quite old now
[1716.67] Jae: but
[1718.67] Jae: as something that's just a micro
[1720.67] Jae: brushless thing that people fly it's quite
[1722.67] Jae: interesting to see that they can
[1724.67] Jae: change things and because it's flight dynamics
[1726.67] Jae: and all the other aspects of it and where
[1728.67] Jae: do you start? How do you present something to
[1730.67] Jae: a school to say look
[1732.67] Jae: this is something for them to assist their learning
[1734.67] Jae: and to spark their imagination
[1736.67] Jae: perhaps their interest and inspire them
[1738.67] Jae: how do you even start on such a way
[1740.67] Jae: even as adults we might come from a different
[1742.67] Jae: discipline or a different background with some
[1744.67] Jae: knowledge of RC planes and
[1746.67] Jae: batteries or you know whatever
[1748.67] Jae: it's always just something
[1750.67] Jae: of the whole subset and to learn
[1752.67] Jae: everything about what it is to fly these things
[1754.67] Jae: is immense really at the end of the day
[1756.67] Martin Rye: yeah and I think somebody has
[1758.67] Martin Rye: got to offer the schools or the colleges
[1760.67] Martin Rye: or universities a package
[1762.67] Martin Rye: basically you know almost a syllabus
[1764.67] Martin Rye: where they can
[1766.67] Martin Rye: the teachers can take the syllabus
[1768.67] Martin Rye: and the hardware and
[1770.67] Martin Rye: teach it to the kids and show them what can be
[1772.67] Martin Rye: done and part of
[1774.67] Tony: the curriculum
[1785.76] Tony: is still muted
[1789.97] Jae: you come in and they press mute
[1791.97] Jae: but you can take it over Tony
[1793.97] Jae: I was going to say a special shout out to people
[1795.97] Jae: in our chat room
[1797.97] Jae: we have our regulars that are doing this every week
[1799.97] Jae: shout out to Striker and
[1801.97] Jae: Clegg Ram, we've got a new kid
[1803.97] Jae: Matthew Gammons who actually
[1805.97] Jae: has just started to fly these days
[1807.97] Jae: good
[1809.97] Jae: Dazzle, what's up?
[1811.97] Jae: There's probably more
[1813.97] Jae: I haven't actually kept an eye on the chat room
[1815.97] Jae: if you've got any questions for Martin, myself or anyone
[1817.97] Jae: especially Martin, he's a very interesting man
[1819.97] Jae: pop him again in the chat room
[1821.97] Jae: and I'll put you on it
[1823.97] Jae: probably it's too much of a distraction Martin
[1825.97] Jae: too interesting, you've got so many different things
[1827.97] Jae: super top secret stuff as well
[1833.38] Tony: Martin, be quiet
[1839.2] Martin Rye: Tony, what are you
[1841.2] Jae: so actually other news
[1844.7] Jae: Thomas Greer has stepped down from chairman
[1846.7] Jae: of BVFPRA
[1848.7] Jae: after always BFPVRA
[1850.7] Jae: I could get that wrong
[1852.7] Jae: so I think they're actually even looking for nominations for that
[1854.7] Jae: I don't know if it's still open
[1856.7] Jae: Tony, are you interested?
[1861.07] Jae: Tony, are you interested?
[1863.07] Jae: No
[1865.07] Jae: As it is open, I think if you go to their Facebook page
[1867.07] Jae: you might be able to find some things
[1869.07] Jae: there's all sorts of things, have you got any developments on news?
[1871.07] Jae: Have you been racing these days Tony?
[1873.07] Tony: I raced only a couple of weekends ago
[1875.07] Tony: but it was so blooming windy
[1877.07] Tony: it was horrible
[1879.07] Tony: about 40 miles an hour
[1881.07] Tony: we've been using them tiny little gates
[1883.07] Tony: that have got popular
[1885.07] Tony: the soccer ones that everyone's cutting
[1887.07] Tony: people cut the back out of
[1889.07] Tony: they're really small
[1891.07] Tony: we were lining up for the gates
[1893.07] Tony: but the wind was just
[1895.07] Tony: blowing us out of the way
[1897.07] Tony: so it was really hard
[1899.07] Tony: but I've just really really
[1901.07] Tony: enjoyed freestyling my Revo
[1903.07] Tony: I know the Revo is
[1905.07] Tony: actually a race frame but
[1907.07] Tony: Brad has built it so nice
[1909.07] Tony: I didn't want to get it dirty
[1911.07] Tony: or race it or crash it
[1913.07] Tony: so I've been freestyling it
[1915.07] Tony: and I just
[1917.07] Tony: it's so enjoyable at the moment
[1919.07] Tony: Tony, why shouldn't it be
[1921.07] Martin Rye: a freestyle frame? Who said it
[1923.07] Tony: couldn't be?
[1927.07] Jae: Tony's saying he's not a freestyle pilot
[1929.07] Jae: and he's now starting to freestyle
[1931.07] Jae: he's gone to the dark side
[1933.07] Tony: There is that, but like
[1935.07] Tony: like N.J. pointed out
[1937.07] Tony: with the rigging
[1939.07] Tony: and you know
[1941.07] Tony: cross proximity to trees
[1943.07] Tony: you know you've got that
[1945.07] Tony: bit of a might hook on
[1947.07] Martin Rye: any corner get hung up on a tree
[1949.07] Martin Rye: wouldn't it, let's face it
[1951.07] Tony: I went and rescued the guys
[1953.07] Tony: last weekend
[1955.07] Jae: if it was just hanging on one of those
[1957.07] Jae: sort of tension
[1959.07] Jae: on the tension sort of a
[1961.07] Jae: string, not string, whatever you call it
[1963.07] Jae: If it's hanging on a
[1965.07] Jae: tweak with that, then surely
[1967.07] Jae: you'd still be able to power off of the tweak
[1969.07] Jae: that way he's launched
[1971.07] Jae: so actually it may not be as bad as perhaps
[1973.07] Jae: you think
[1975.07] Jae: it might hook on the start
[1977.07] Jae: branch rather than getting stuck right in and wedged
[1979.07] Jae: with the proper ride against the trunk
[1981.07] Jae: and a branch wedged
[1983.07] Jae: in between the motors, it might actually be
[1985.07] Jae: better off
[1987.07] Jae: impacting a tree
[1989.07] Jae: I think there's something that needs to be tested
[1991.07] Jae: you've got a big poll
[1993.07] Jae: Thank you
[1995.07] Jae: Next week
[1997.07] Jae: I want updates
[1999.07] Tony: Well I
[2001.07] Tony: when I'm flying it
[2003.07] Tony: you can tell when you've got the rigging
[2005.07] Tony: the right
[2007.07] Tony: the right tension
[2009.07] Tony: because it whistles
[2011.07] Tony: when I'm doing my freestyle I'm getting different
[2013.07] Tony: I'm playing the
[2015.07] Tony: guitar up in the air
[2017.07] Tony: you can get different notes from
[2019.07] Martin Rye: the rigging
[2021.07] Tony: if I'm falling upside down
[2023.07] Tony: it plays a different tune to falling that way
[2025.07] Tony: I think it's something we haven't captured here
[2027.07] Tony: obviously we've got the light drones
[2029.07] Jae: maybe we need the revos to play a tune
[2031.07] Jae: we could get some
[2033.07] Jae: unbuilt revos
[2036.38] Tony: anyway he's number one man
[2038.38] Tony: I'll build it and then I'll be one note
[2040.38] Jae: I'll set mine as the note
[2042.38] Jae: Tony's got another note, we're on to two
[2044.38] Jae: we'll get the rest of the team
[2046.38] Jae: did anyone
[2048.38] Martin Rye: did you guys watch
[2050.38] Martin Rye: the Malta
[2052.38] Martin Rye: racing with
[2054.38] Martin Rye: Aaron at all?
[2056.38] Martin Rye: which race?
[2058.38] Martin Rye: The Malta
[2060.38] Jae: I've been living under
[2062.38] Jae: a rock
[2064.38] Tony: Tony did you get to see it?
[2066.38] Tony: I watched a few live
[2068.38] Tony: broadcasts and I watched it back a few
[2070.38] Tony: times
[2072.38] Tony: it was a nice big open track
[2074.38] Tony: it was
[2076.38] Tony: not very
[2078.38] Tony: I didn't think it was very marked out
[2080.38] Tony: very well
[2082.38] Tony: not very many cones
[2084.38] Tony: I didn't really enjoy the track
[2086.38] Tony: watching it
[2088.38] Tony: it would have been better if it had been
[2090.38] Tony: marked out a bit better
[2092.38] Martin Rye: it was based on a BMX track
[2094.38] Martin Rye: I think it was a motocross track
[2096.38] Martin Rye: it was fast though
[2098.38] Tony: it would have suited
[2100.38] Tony: it would have suited
[2102.38] Jae: you're more of a faster
[2104.38] Jae: than Tony, you don't like the technical
[2106.38] Tony: I like going fast
[2108.38] Tony: like drone racing
[2110.38] Tony: to me, all these
[2112.38] Tony: tight and technical courses are just boring
[2114.38] Tony: because it's like
[2116.38] Tony: I love ripping it
[2118.38] Tony: when people stand there and watch it
[2120.38] Tony: and you hear it going
[2122.38] Tony: and then you get the epic crashes as well
[2124.38] Jae: that's something like
[2126.38] Jae: an F1 race, they try and incorporate
[2128.38] Jae: the short technical bits
[2130.38] Jae: in the fast racing audience
[2132.38] Jae: a bit of both
[2134.38] Tony: that's what my mate Rich has done
[2136.38] Tony: we've got a place we go called
[2138.38] Tony: Quartopia 2
[2140.38] Tony: which is sort of up near
[2142.38] Tony: Pearlyway
[2144.38] Tony: the last two tracks he's done
[2146.38] Tony: are based on 4-1 tracks
[2148.38] Tony: so we raced Austria
[2150.38] Tony: last week in the wind
[2152.38] Tony: and then we were
[2154.38] Tony: racing on
[2156.38] Tony: Silverstone the week before
[2158.38] Tony: he's been laying out the tracks
[2160.38] Tony: same as the F1 track
[2162.38] Tony: doing the
[2164.38] Tony: scale distance
[2166.38] Jae: actually it's probably not a bad thing
[2168.38] Jae: as a test to get those
[2170.38] Tony: test circuits
[2172.38] Tony: it's good, it's fun
[2174.38] Tony: but then Blooming Falls you can't get
[2176.38] Tony: three quads through at the same time
[2178.38] Tony: five bigger gates
[2180.38] UNKNOWN: actually some people in our local club
[2182.38] Jae: put together some piping
[2184.38] Jae: and two runs of piping
[2186.38] Jae: that string together and it's so cheap
[2188.38] Jae: and cheerful
[2190.38] Jae: they're a bit of prop killers
[2192.38] Jae: but pool noodles
[2194.38] Jae: or scaffolding
[2196.38] Jae: you can always make
[2198.38] Jae: bags and stuff
[2200.38] Tony: well that's another thing I want to do
[2202.38] Tony: I've been watching a few different
[2204.38] Tony: people fly different tracks
[2206.38] Tony: we need to
[2208.38] Tony: I know we're going along the ground at high speeds
[2210.38] Tony: but it'd be good to go up over
[2212.38] Tony: trees and round bushes
[2214.38] Tony: and through a hoop
[2216.38] Tony: in a tree type thing
[2218.38] Jae: too many people from the RC car world
[2220.38] Jae: got into making the track design
[2222.38] Jae: so there's 3D space that you're in
[2224.38] Tony: so why not fly?
[2226.38] Jae: but I like the towers
[2228.38] Jae: that's why I wouldn't mind trying to space it
[2230.38] Jae: to Nottingham
[2233.73] Jae: UKDS just for that
[2235.73] Jae: they at least have that in the track
[2237.73] Jae: well you know what
[2239.73] Jae: I'm just so happy that it is
[2241.73] Jae: British summertime and the days are getting
[2243.73] Jae: longer
[2245.73] Jae: the mountains dive feed from
[2247.73] Jae: however high he gets to with his glider
[2253.73] Jae: how high can you get with these gliders?
[2255.73] Jae: I mean obviously at some point they're going to run out
[2257.73] Jae: of air pressure to work on
[2259.73] Martin Rye: I suppose
[2261.73] Martin Rye: as long as your eyes can see
[2263.73] Martin Rye: or as far as your video
[2265.73] Martin Rye: will go
[2267.73] Jae: and laid on your back in the summer breeze
[2269.73] Jae: with the birds chirping at the side
[2271.73] Jae: not another noise in the sky
[2273.73] Martin Rye: no no because you've got to keep telling
[2275.73] Martin Rye: the link Jay
[2277.73] Jae: there's too much money invested up there
[2279.73] Martin Rye: you've got to keep your eye on it
[2281.73] Martin Rye: but going FPV
[2283.73] Martin Rye: that could be another
[2285.73] Martin Rye: story altogether, I'm looking forward to that
[2287.73] Jae: well it would be good if people
[2289.73] Jae: could come to it
[2291.73] Martin Rye: can I say a few words
[2293.73] Martin Rye: about the fossil stuff
[2295.73] Martin Rye: in America?
[2297.73] Martin Rye: yeah yeah of course please do
[2299.73] Martin Rye: yeah just let everyone know
[2301.73] Martin Rye: that there's a
[2303.73] Martin Rye: company out there
[2305.73] Martin Rye: custom multirotors
[2307.73] Martin Rye: dot com
[2309.73] Martin Rye: Rick Cox doing a grand job out there
[2311.73] Martin Rye: he's actually found
[2313.73] Martin Rye: a couple of new fossil stuff
[2315.73] Martin Rye: Ting pilots who we're going to try out
[2317.73] Martin Rye: nothing in the bag yet
[2319.73] Martin Rye: but a guy called David Mills
[2321.73] Martin Rye: and Caleb Countess
[2323.73] Martin Rye: what a great name
[2325.73] Martin Rye: so yeah they're going to get a few frames to try
[2327.73] Martin Rye: but
[2329.73] Martin Rye: yeah it'd be nice
[2331.73] Martin Rye: to see something going on in the States
[2333.73] Martin Rye: I'm interested in their flying
[2335.73] Martin Rye: they're racing, there's always
[2337.73] Martin Rye: big open courses
[2339.73] Martin Rye: where we seem to be really tight
[2341.73] Martin Rye: can you see the States
[2343.73] Martin Rye: going the way we're going
[2345.73] Martin Rye: with the really tight courses or
[2347.73] Jae: is it going to stay really tight?
[2349.73] Jae: I think you know
[2351.73] Jae: I've got more room so I think it's
[2353.73] Jae: yeah but
[2355.73] Jae: the DRL is the most tightest thing
[2357.73] Jae: and the thing is
[2359.73] Jae: I think people are more impressed when it's a tight space
[2361.73] Jae: it's going through speed
[2363.73] Jae: it's only for traction you're going towards the gate
[2365.73] Jae: if it's too fast for rounds there's not as much
[2367.73] Jae: skill involved I don't think
[2369.73] Martin Rye: there's not as much skill definitely
[2371.73] Martin Rye: but it almost becomes more
[2373.73] Martin Rye: down to the actual quad itself
[2375.73] Martin Rye: doesn't it I think
[2377.73] Martin Rye: yeah I know
[2379.73] Martin Rye: but yeah I just
[2381.73] Martin Rye: just running something past you guys
[2383.73] Martin Rye: I think it's going to be interesting
[2385.73] Martin Rye: to be really tight, they're really open
[2387.73] Martin Rye: I just wonder whether there'll be some
[2389.73] Martin Rye: sort of
[2391.73] Martin Rye: intermediate like we come
[2393.73] Martin Rye: go a bit bigger and they come a bit
[2395.73] Martin Rye: smaller and come up with some international
[2397.73] Martin Rye: course size basically
[2399.73] Jae: well I'm hoping actually
[2401.73] Jae: that the sports takes off more
[2403.73] Jae: in the UK and perhaps if we're in charge of our
[2405.73] Jae: own regulations and things we can make it as a
[2407.73] Jae: world leading aspect of whether
[2409.73] Jae: it's the racing sport
[2411.73] Jae: or if it's even integration
[2413.73] Jae: into the airspace
[2415.73] Jae: we don't have as much space in the UK
[2417.73] Jae: and often we have to make do with what we have
[2419.73] Jae: being a park with lots
[2421.73] Jae: of trees or something and I think that
[2423.73] Jae: just makes us be more technical in our circuits
[2425.73] Jae: because we have to
[2427.73] Martin Rye: that's a good point Jay so yeah I can see that
[2429.73] Jae: and I think the Americans will probably follow suit
[2431.73] Jae: more of the UK because it's more
[2433.73] Jae: testing of an ability when you're actually doing
[2435.73] Jae: a course inside if you're having spectators
[2437.73] Jae: to make it more viewable you have a smaller tighter
[2439.73] Jae: turns so the UK
[2441.73] Jae: drone show last year
[2443.73] Jae: that was quite a time technical course
[2445.73] Martin Rye: and I think it's easy to go tighter than it is
[2447.73] Martin Rye: sorry for putting it up
[2449.73] Martin Rye: then the Americans may
[2451.73] Martin Rye: tighten things up a bit hopefully
[2453.73] Jae: I mean I'm always jealous of
[2455.73] Jae: Stu from UAG Futures
[2457.73] Jae: I'm just going to do my race second is it like
[2459.73] Jae: flying a long pass or this is a long ridge to get to a
[2461.73] Jae: fly I go east
[2463.73] Jae: I've never had that luxury and actually
[2465.73] Jae: recently when I've been trying to
[2467.73] Jae: in a local flying spot
[2469.73] Jae: now there's no gates that I put up but I
[2471.73] Jae: have a circuit that I can do that is just
[2473.73] Jae: a big figure eight just to test different angles
[2475.73] Jae: and things and
[2477.73] Jae: I have to make do with that small space
[2479.73] Jae: because I can't A go
[2481.73] Jae: out and run it you know running a course
[2483.73] Jae: there's such a big course with just a small
[2485.73] Jae: group of people you need more people to put out the currents
[2487.73] Jae: to put up the flags and more for the distance
[2489.73] Jae: I think it's less
[2491.73] Jae: less conducive to the UK
[2493.73] Jae: whereas on a Sunday
[2495.73] Jae: in
[2497.73] Jae: adverse weather conditions
[2499.73] Jae: it's more
[2501.73] Jae: a tighter technical for space and weather
[2503.73] Jae: and I think we'll be
[2505.73] Jae: the better pilots for it
[2507.73] Tony: I don't think it's as fun though you can't go as fast
[2509.73] Jae: no but
[2511.73] Jae: you get fast runs and that's the key isn't it
[2513.73] Jae: you just have a fast run that
[2515.73] Jae: how much do you want to accelerate towards the corner
[2517.73] Jae: that you get and then have to take wider
[2519.73] Tony: I want to
[2521.73] Tony: accelerate so it stops accelerating
[2523.73] Tony: and then turn left
[2525.73] Tony: so I don't want to go right either
[2527.73] Tony: Tony is going to start
[2529.73] Jae: the UK drone drag race
[2531.73] Tony: you can only
[2533.73] Tony: fly left
[2535.73] Jae: turn that way
[2537.73] Tony: faster you can
[2539.73] Jae: no it's an
[2541.73] Jae: interesting point I mean have you
[2543.73] Jae: competed in any races Martin?
[2545.73] Martin Rye: no but I have entered
[2547.73] Martin Rye: even though it's a race
[2549.73] Martin Rye: the summer's pond
[2551.73] Martin Rye: event
[2553.73] Martin Rye: June is it? I'm sadly in
[2555.73] Martin Rye: the winter
[2557.73] Martin Rye: oh
[2558.73] Martin Rye: that's more of a show time I think
[2560.73] Martin Rye: at least if I could get
[2562.73] Martin Rye: quite in the air and just go round with the boys
[2564.73] Martin Rye: it'd be great
[2566.73] Martin Rye: I ain't going to win
[2568.73] Tony: that's why it's more about mine
[2570.73] Tony: it's such a fun
[2572.73] Tony: couple of days
[2574.73] Tony: it's fun there's no stress
[2576.73] Tony: you can race your mates
[2578.73] Jae: hold on hold on hold on
[2580.73] Jae: no stress
[2581.73] Jae: no stress Tony are you serious
[2583.73] Jae: because
[2585.73] Jae: I just
[2587.73] Jae: I was flying a circuit just no stress whatsoever
[2589.73] Jae: just going through the gaps and everything
[2591.73] Jae: and then all of a sudden on my feet I saw
[2593.73] Jae: a quad zip in front of me
[2595.73] Jae: and it's like oh no I've got to go faster now
[2597.73] Jae: and no it's
[2599.73] Jae: it gets you
[2601.73] Jae: and actually the stress
[2603.73] Jae: because I think it was Carlos
[2605.73] Jae: that mentioned once like the Nationals
[2607.73] Jae: saying that
[2609.73] Jae: see that moment you're about to start
[2611.73] Jae: so much emotion so much stress so much anxiety
[2613.73] Jae: and performance issues and stuff
[2615.73] Jae: can all come to that moment when you're just about to start
[2617.73] Jae: so I think it's horrible
[2619.73] Jae: it's competitive
[2621.73] Martin Rye: I do admire the guys
[2623.73] Martin Rye: I
[2624.73] Martin Rye: Luke, Gary, Leo
[2626.73] Martin Rye: the guy I couldn't mention them forever
[2628.73] Martin Rye: they're all
[2630.73] Martin Rye: unbelievable pilots
[2632.73] Martin Rye: and how they feel
[2634.73] Martin Rye: in a final I have no idea
[2636.73] Martin Rye: but it must be extremely stressful
[2638.73] Martin Rye: and they're very very talented guys
[2640.73] Martin Rye: and they do put on a good show
[2642.73] Martin Rye: but I can't imagine
[2644.73] Martin Rye: what they're going through
[2646.73] Martin Rye: it's very very stressful
[2648.73] Martin Rye: they do have
[2650.73] Tony: break out on
[2652.73] Tony: I have to go to toilet all the time
[2654.73] Tony: I have to go to toilet all the time
[2656.73] Jae: what are your techniques for switching out
[2658.73] Jae: before a
[2660.73] Jae: flight eraser
[2662.73] Jae: you know I suppose
[2664.73] Jae: it's getting to that point now as
[2666.73] Jae: athletes and are you in the zone enough
[2668.73] Jae: exactly yeah
[2670.73] Jae: can you perform in that moment
[2672.73] Jae: given that time, given that opportunity
[2674.73] Jae: to do your best
[2676.73] Jae: and be the fastest
[2678.73] Jae: on the news
[2680.73] Tony: sometimes it's got fastest
[2682.73] Tony: so Jay is it
[2684.73] Jae: not necessarily it has to be
[2686.73] Jae: flying faster towards the stuff no
[2688.73] Tony: no
[2690.73] Tony: sometimes it's just about keeping on that track
[2692.73] Tony: and keeping your head cool
[2694.73] Tony: let people overtake
[2696.73] Tony: I've had that before, people overtake
[2698.73] Tony: and then they crash out in the next bend
[2700.73] Tony: and you're still going at your speed
[2702.73] Jae: the hair, slow and steady
[2704.73] Jae: yeah
[2706.73] Tony: not to be said
[2708.73] Jae: well I mean not slow
[2710.73] Jae: it's what you're saying Tony
[2712.73] Jae: that you've got to go fast fast fast
[2714.73] Martin Rye: no you just enjoy going fast
[2716.73] Tony: hahaha
[2718.73] Tony: when you're out
[2720.73] Tony: every race is
[2722.73] Tony: different all the time
[2724.73] Tony: weather can
[2726.73] Tony: do stuff to your VTX
[2728.73] Tony: the conditions of the wind
[2730.73] Tony: every time you
[2732.73] Tony: turn up, yeah everything
[2734.73] Jae: what you ate the night before
[2736.73] Jae: see actually we
[2738.73] Jae: joked a long time ago Tony
[2740.73] Jae: about how we were going to test with you over this year
[2742.73] Jae: and see if we could make a better
[2744.73] Jae: pilot through Zen meditation
[2746.73] Jae: or whatever, yoga
[2748.73] Jae: maybe eating the right stuff, having the right drinks
[2750.73] Jae: but actually you know there's something
[2752.73] Jae: and actually having the right vitamins
[2754.73] Jae: in your body at the right time
[2756.73] Jae: yeah
[2758.73] Jae: are you still willing to be a guinea pig
[2760.73] Jae: for the race season ahead Tony
[2762.73] Martin Rye: options only
[2764.73] Jae: we will not make you eat meat but we'll
[2766.73] Jae: try and enhance your performance
[2768.73] Jae: I think for any reason
[2770.73] Tony: yeah for whatever
[2772.73] Tony: a bit of Zen meditation
[2774.73] Tony: but actually
[2776.73] Jae: do you realise a problem
[2778.73] Jae: to be performance-enhanced testing
[2780.73] Jae: for how sharp
[2782.73] Jae: your reflex is
[2784.73] Jae: because that's all it is
[2786.73] Jae: how good is your hand-eye coordination
[2788.73] Jae: and how fast your reflex is
[2790.73] Jae: to how fast you can go to run a track
[2792.73] Tony: well I'm getting older every
[2794.73] Tony: day
[2796.73] Martin Rye: getting slower
[2798.73] Martin Rye: guys can I just
[2800.73] Martin Rye: say something
[2802.73] Martin Rye: just a question on
[2804.73] Martin Rye: these big quads
[2806.73] Martin Rye: big racers
[2808.73] Martin Rye: on these
[2810.73] Jae: they're like the giant class, the freedom class
[2812.73] Martin Rye: Tony's
[2814.73] Martin Rye: sort of smiling there, I can see him
[2816.73] Martin Rye: I'd like
[2818.73] Martin Rye: to do a massive
[2820.73] Martin Rye: big quarter, I think it would be a bit of fun
[2822.73] Martin Rye: how about that massive thing
[2824.73] Martin Rye: the flight test boys
[2826.73] Martin Rye: maybe not that big
[2828.73] Martin Rye: the one thing that
[2830.73] Jae: okay like 3D heli
[2832.73] Jae: well even just helicopters
[2834.73] Jae: 3D helis, there's one magical
[2836.73] Jae: thing about when they're flying
[2838.73] Jae: they're just going to
[2840.73] Jae: and it's no no no
[2842.73] Jae: it's the noise
[2844.73] Jae: and the noise on the larger
[2846.73] Jae: size is something that
[2848.73] Jae: instantly has more power to it
[2850.73] Jae: scary
[2852.73] Jae: yeah
[2854.73] Jae: I actually think
[2856.73] Jae: they're onto the right idea
[2858.73] Jae: how do they make it more of
[2860.73] Jae: a spectator sport
[2862.73] Jae: and I think
[2864.73] Jae: it's an idea that's worth testing
[2866.73] Jae: whether it's actually the one that actually does get people
[2868.73] Jae: involved or not, I don't know
[2870.73] Jae: but
[2872.73] Jae: for a spectator sport they sound
[2874.73] Jae: amazing to see
[2876.73] Jae: you know
[2878.73] Jae: you've just reminded me of a point
[2880.73] Jae: there was a long time ago when they were going to build these
[2882.73] Jae: rocket propelled planes
[2884.73] Jae: and they were going to race them around circuits
[2886.73] Jae: but one aspect of this whole idea
[2888.73] Jae: I think it has to do with SpaceX actually
[2890.73] Jae: for a long time
[2892.73] Jae: but one aspect was
[2894.73] Jae: they'd have people competing at home through
[2896.73] Jae: the same circuits
[2898.73] Jae: flying similar things with
[2900.73] Jae: a joypad but they could compete
[2902.73] Jae: against the real race
[2904.73] Jae: and there's no reason why nowadays
[2906.73] Jae: people shouldn't be able to play along at home
[2908.73] Jae: in the interactive aspect of what it is
[2910.73] Jae: of the century we're living in, the time we're actually living in
[2912.73] Jae: why they couldn't
[2914.73] Jae: compete against the real time
[2916.73] Jae: pilots that are actually flying elsewhere
[2918.73] Jae: and I think that is the aspect
[2920.73] Jae: where people will start to follow this more
[2922.73] Jae: more than the size of these things
[2924.73] Jae: flying along
[2926.73] Jae: so to gamify the sport
[2928.73] Jae: so people can, you know, because there's no other option
[2930.73] Jae: to do that
[2932.73] Jae: at home you can't play along with the football game
[2934.73] Jae: or anything like that, but now
[2936.73] Jae: with the controller, the controller is the interface
[2938.73] Jae: and so you can measure that
[2940.73] Jae: controller at home through a virtual sense
[2942.73] Jae: and that's what will actually be driving the
[2944.73] Jae: spectator aspect
[2946.73] Jae: of it, because they're spectating and competing
[2948.73] Jae: albeit from their armchair at home
[2950.73] Jae: but
[2952.73] Jae: yeah, I just love
[2954.73] Jae: the sound of the big ones
[2958.73] Tony: No comment
[2962.73] Jae: Yeah
[2966.55] Jae: I think it's still interesting because we
[2968.55] Jae: still have the subculture with flying these
[2970.55] Jae: things, there's still, you know, like terms
[2972.55] Jae: pop up Bando and stuff where it's
[2974.55] Jae: Band of Building and all these different subculture
[2976.55] Jae: aspects of what the technology
[2978.55] Jae: that we use, so we have a secret code if we're talking
[2980.55] Jae: about it
[2982.55] Jae: we are lucky to have one of the last subcultures
[2984.55] Jae: that exists with flying these things
[2986.55] Jae: and when it comes to mainstream
[2988.55] Jae: whether it's through sports and stuff
[2990.55] Jae: that's when we've lost it, but at least now
[2992.55] Jae: we still have that subculture
[2994.55] Martin Rye: Yeah, I think it's top of the biggest
[2996.55] Martin Rye: top of the biggest cost, isn't it?
[2998.55] Martin Rye: Yeah, but that
[3000.55] Martin Rye: flight testing is amazing
[3002.55] Martin Rye: The matches are going to be a hundred pounds
[3004.55] Martin Rye: The matches are going to be a hundred pounds
[3006.55] Martin Rye: The flight fest
[3008.55] Jae: Yeah, yeah
[3012.55] Jae: Tony, maybe if you build
[3014.55] Jae: gates big enough for that, you won't have the same
[3016.55] Jae: small gate issue
[3018.55] Jae: You can fit twenty
[3020.55] Jae: thirty or three at this time
[3022.55] Tony: Oh yeah, yeah
[3024.55] Tony: I don't want it
[3026.55] Tony: I can hear myself
[3028.55] Tony: I can hear myself
[3030.55] Jae: It might be
[3032.55] Jae: No, he's gone
[3037.21] Martin Rye: I can't hear you now
[3039.21] Jae: I think Tony, we're going to have to
[3041.21] Jae: Oh, are you still there?
[3043.21] Jae: Yep, yep
[3045.21] Jae: He's still there
[3047.21] Jae: What are we going to say Tony?
[3049.21] Jae: Oh, he's muted himself
[3051.21] Jae: Tony doesn't want to speak to us anymore man
[3053.21] Tony: All I can do is hear myself
[3055.21] Tony: It's horrible
[3057.21] Tony: It's horrible
[3059.21] Tony: I can hear you double
[3061.21] Jae: I'm going to mute myself
[3066.06] Jae: for a minute
[3068.06] Jae: No, I was actually going to say just talk Tony
[3070.06] Jae: Just take your headphones off and talk
[3072.06] Jae: Go on, no, no, no, no, do it
[3074.06] Jae: Take your headphones off and speak
[3076.06] Jae: and just let it all out
[3078.06] Jae: Say I'm going to be the best drone pilot of 2017
[3080.06] Jae: and there's no other competitor
[3082.06] Jae: I'm going to be the best
[3084.06] Jae: Come on, say it, take your headphones off
[3086.06] Jae: Don't listen to anyone
[3090.68] Jae: Okay, whether it's a large quad
[3092.68] Jae: or not, I think
[3094.68] Jae: There's an aspect that's lost a lot of the time
[3096.68] Jae: and that is freestyle events
[3098.68] Jae: and freestyle flying at events
[3100.68] Jae: even if it's not a scored thing
[3102.68] Jae: and actually
[3104.68] Jae: it comes down to the 3D heavy aspect
[3106.68] Jae: where perhaps that would be such a spectacle
[3108.68] Jae: the noise, the sight
[3110.68] Jae: and everything that's in
[3112.68] Jae: is much more exciting to witness
[3114.68] Martin Rye: So, Jack
[3116.68] Martin Rye: The freestyle side
[3118.68] Martin Rye: There's not enough of it
[3122.68] Martin Rye: There's not enough of it
[3124.68] Martin Rye: No, no
[3126.68] Jae: But that's why Tony's starting
[3128.68] Jae: to help out by doing his freestyle
[3130.68] Martin Rye: Oh, his videos, I'll tell you what
[3132.68] Martin Rye: the first one he posted the other day
[3134.68] Martin Rye: it goes down with the one over the lake
[3136.68] Martin Rye: for me, it was his
[3138.68] Martin Rye: second best if not best
[3140.68] Martin Rye: it was a beautiful thing
[3142.68] Martin Rye: to watch and I'm really looking
[3144.68] Martin Rye: forward to watching Tony
[3146.68] Martin Rye: produce some more
[3148.68] Martin Rye: superb freestyle videos
[3150.68] Martin Rye: they're absolutely fantastic
[3152.68] Martin Rye: the music he sets to them
[3154.68] Martin Rye: is brilliant
[3156.68] Martin Rye: a real joy and it's something
[3158.68] Martin Rye: you can watch over and over again
[3160.68] Martin Rye: Thank you
[3162.68] Martin Rye: Are you not echoing now, Tony?
[3164.68] Jae: No, it sounds alright then
[3166.68] Jae: No, no, it's all perfect
[3168.68] Martin Rye: It's really down
[3170.68] Martin Rye: Any of Tony's, the last
[3172.68] Martin Rye: two videos certainly
[3174.68] Martin Rye: and if anyone can hunt out
[3176.68] Martin Rye: is 280
[3178.68] Martin Rye: over the lake
[3180.68] Martin Rye: flying past the dogs
[3182.68] Martin Rye: absolutely wonderful
[3184.68] Martin Rye: I do love that video
[3186.68] Martin Rye: That was a great video
[3188.68] Martin Rye: and everyone should watch it at least once
[3190.68] Jae: So, man
[3192.68] Jae: I've seen
[3194.68] Jae: many videos, Tony
[3196.68] Jae: but I do have to watch the latest one
[3198.68] Jae: but man, last year ago
[3200.68] Jae: as we were saying earlier when we started this chat
[3202.68] Jae: you had a fossil stuff sign up
[3204.68] Jae: in a field
[3206.68] Jae: and it was glowing, saying fossil stuff
[3208.68] Jae: Are you going to be
[3210.68] Jae: coming back to this show that is
[3212.68] Jae: hopefully happening, I don't know exactly where
[3214.68] Jae: but Mini Air Show 3
[3216.68] Jae: is almost really
[3218.68] Jae: happy tickets sold, are you going to be there?
[3220.68] Martin Rye: Yeah, I'm all signed up
[3222.68] Martin Rye: had a good chat with Chee about setting
[3224.68] Martin Rye: up the netting and stuff
[3226.68] Martin Rye: looking for bods to help out
[3228.68] Martin Rye: hopefully the fossil
[3230.68] Martin Rye: stuff, Team Pilots
[3232.68] Martin Rye: JB, Martinez, UAV
[3234.68] Martin Rye: Bradders, Turnstar,
[3236.68] Martin Rye: Smoky and Antique are all going to
[3238.68] Martin Rye: be there to help me
[3240.68] Jae: You know what, it's kind of like a big event
[3242.68] Jae: I think some of the bigger names
[3244.68] Jae: in this thing, so I can't wait to actually
[3246.68] Jae: but you know what, if you're actually wanting to help
[3248.68] Jae: out and volunteer, I'm sure you can get in there for free
[3250.68] Jae: because you're volunteering
[3252.68] Martin Rye: I'd pay a few quid
[3254.68] Martin Rye: to have a stand there
[3256.68] Martin Rye: and hopefully the quid will help
[3258.68] Martin Rye: pay for something or other
[3260.68] Jae: I do believe
[3262.68] Jae: if you go to MinnieAirShow.co.uk
[3264.68] Jae: I will post a link in the
[3266.68] Jae: chat in a second, but if you go there you will be able to buy
[3268.68] Jae: the tickets from the 1st of April, now the 1st of April
[3270.68] Jae: I know it sounds like April Fool's Day
[3272.68] Jae: but actually it's a fool's
[3274.68] Jae: thing, so you'll be able to
[3276.68] Jae: buy the tickets, I am so
[3278.68] Jae: looking forward to this actually this year
[3280.68] Jae: it's kind of like the start of everything
[3282.68] Jae: for that year ahead
[3284.68] Martin Rye: If there's anything to go by last
[3286.68] Martin Rye: year, it's going to be a cracking event
[3288.68] Martin Rye: that relay race
[3290.68] Martin Rye: was just so much fun
[3292.68] Jae: That was my first ever race
[3294.68] Jae: did you know, first ever attempt
[3296.68] Martin Rye: Not sure what's going to happen this year
[3298.68] Martin Rye: if everyone can do the same
[3300.68] Martin Rye: again, it would be awesome
[3302.68] Jae: I think there's so many
[3304.68] Jae: interesting ideas that are going around
[3306.68] Jae: I think even Tony, you should
[3308.68] Jae: try and set your 100m record
[3310.68] Jae: The other idea I want to have
[3312.68] Jae: is Adam Juniper
[3314.68] Jae: who's usually on the show
[3316.68] Jae: who writes books and stuff
[3318.68] Jae: he might be having
[3320.68] Jae: his first FPV experience
[3322.68] Jae: that could be interesting
[3324.68] Martin Rye: a person's first person view
[3326.68] Jae: a person's first person view
[3328.68] Jae: a person's first person view
[3330.68] Martin Rye: we need to have a row with Dom and
[3332.68] Martin Rye: Frank to see if we can get a speedrun going as well
[3334.68] Martin Rye: actually that's not a bad idea
[3336.68] Jae: actually, so you know
[3338.68] Jae: someone who's got a radar gun
[3340.68] Jae: because it could even be a pay a small fee
[3342.68] Jae: it's called charity
[3344.68] Jae: and actually find out the speed of your quad
[3346.68] Jae: 50p that could do it
[3348.68] Jae: and maybe the person
[3350.68] Jae: at the end gets a special award for having
[3352.68] Jae: the fastest quad on the day
[3354.68] Jae: see this thing is so exciting and so
[3356.68] Jae: cutting edge, you need to buy your tickets this Saturday
[3358.68] Tony: on the first of April
[3360.68] Jae: you know there's loads
[3362.68] Jae: actually planning and it's just
[3364.68] Jae: whether we can fit it all in
[3366.68] Jae: but it's a fun weekend
[3368.68] Tony: it's just brilliant
[3370.68] Tony: after the day
[3372.68] Tony: and then camping around the fire
[3374.68] Tony: all sitting there having beers with all your mates
[3376.68] Tony: it's with you
[3378.68] Martin Rye: yeah
[3380.68] Jae: it was so good
[3382.68] Jae: you might have followed on Facebook or
[3384.68] Jae: on YouTube and you actually get to meet these people
[3386.68] Jae: so it promises to be a good event
[3388.68] Jae: full of awesome pilots such as Tony
[3390.68] Jae: Martin, the awesome suppliers
[3392.68] Jae: and many many many others
[3394.68] Jae: so I do believe if you check Miniairshow.co.uk
[3396.68] Jae: you'll find more details
[3398.68] Jae: and the website is
[3400.68] Jae: it's up at the moment
[3402.68] Jae: I think the tickets are ready to go
[3404.68] Jae: on sale on this campaign
[3406.68] Jae: cool cool cool
[3408.68] Jae: and you've got a good friend for
[3410.68] Jae: you know and
[3412.68] Jae: foster staff or Tony you've got any races coming up
[3414.68] Tony: I haven't booked any
[3416.68] Tony: proper races but
[3418.68] Tony: we're having a
[3420.68] Tony: fossils meet Sunday so I'm looking forward to
[3422.68] Tony: chatting and meeting all the lads again
[3424.68] Tony: and just the gang being
[3426.68] Tony: together because
[3428.68] Tony: I do miss Martinez
[3430.68] Tony: Martin and
[3432.68] Tony: Smokey because he's right up in Birmingham
[3434.68] Tony: so it's good
[3436.68] Tony: because it's like me, Bradder and
[3438.68] Tony: a couple of the others can get together all the time
[3440.68] Tony: but it's
[3442.68] Tony: it's harder to get together with everyone
[3444.68] Tony: so I'm looking forward
[3446.68] Tony: I'm looking forward to
[3448.68] Martin Rye: Sunday
[3450.68] Martin Rye: and Ed, I forgot Ed earlier
[3452.68] Tony: Ed's in the gang now
[3454.68] Martin Rye: so
[3456.68] Martin Rye: good day
[3458.68] Jae: Ed, he came
[3460.68] Jae: on in leaps and bounds didn't he
[3462.68] Jae: and gave flying and stuff
[3464.68] Tony: yeah he's really good now
[3466.68] Tony: he's really good now and
[3468.68] Tony: it'd be good to meet Flat Earther there
[3470.68] Tony: he's going
[3472.68] Tony: you know what I'm talking about
[3474.68] Martin Rye: Flat Earther is a non-entity
[3476.68] Martin Rye: it doesn't happen
[3478.68] Jae: isn't that anti-Flat Earther?
[3480.68] Jae: hold on a second
[3482.68] Jae: I may have lost something here
[3484.68] Jae: you need to give me a little cryptic room mister
[3486.68] Tony: it's just a little
[3488.68] Tony: personal thing
[3490.68] Jae: I'll tell you later
[3492.68] Tony: I'll tell you later
[3494.68] Jae: yeah yeah fair enough
[3496.68] Jae: it does promise
[3498.68] Jae: it'll look to be a good event for this year
[3500.68] Jae: and actually the start, because well
[3502.68] Jae: it's also part of International Drone Day
[3504.68] Jae: if you didn't know where
[3506.68] Jae: the drone show, I've been trying to promote
[3508.68] Jae: drones for
[3510.68] Jae: in a positive public perception
[3512.68] Jae: started in International
[3514.68] Jae: Day and that's actually how I knew
[3516.68] Jae: you'd lot through the normal
[3518.68] Jae: day actually
[3520.68] Jae: but that's around the same time so people all over the world are usually
[3522.68] Jae: flying on that weekend
[3524.68] Jae: so actually part of that
[3526.68] Jae: International Drone Day it makes you feel good in the morning
[3528.68] Jae: so hopefully
[3530.68] Jae: if you don't crash anyway because then it usually makes you
[3532.68] Jae: feel angry but
[3534.68] Jae: part of it but
[3539.3] Jae: Martin there's so much to talk about
[3541.3] Jae: I mean we can go on, we can do an extended run
[3543.3] Jae: and then there's questions that are coming through
[3545.3] Jae: the chat room, I don't know how much time you have Martin
[3547.3] Jae: we could do a slight bit longer
[3549.3] Jae: I don't have an awful lot of time
[3551.3] Martin Rye: okay well let me just ask
[3553.3] Martin Rye: go on do a sorry
[3555.3] Martin Rye: yeah of course
[3557.3] Martin Rye: I was going to say the Earth is actually round
[3559.3] Martin Rye: thank you
[3561.3] Martin Rye: it's not
[3563.3] Jae: are you kidding me?
[3565.3] Jae: Tony's doing for a joke
[3567.3] Jae: I'm sure
[3569.3] Jae: Tony's head like the Earth is round
[3571.3] Martin Rye: it's not round but it's actually a sphere
[3573.3] Martin Rye: it's actually
[3575.3] Martin Rye: not a sphere
[3577.3] Tony: it's not round
[3579.3] Martin Rye: I told you it's not round
[3581.3] Martin Rye: as a spencer
[3583.3] Jae: oh by the way Tony I think
[3585.3] Jae: from the speed run the money should go to the Vegan World
[3587.3] Jae: Charity is the suggestion
[3589.3] Jae: from Laura Bell, I'm just checking through
[3591.3] Jae: the chat because you know we have a dedicated
[3593.3] Jae: part and
[3595.3] Jae: portfolio community
[3597.3] Jae: we could do that
[3599.3] Jae: there's so many people
[3601.3] Jae: he's a very good
[3605.3] Jae: there's so many questions but
[3607.3] Jae: we'll have to get you back on again for another
[3609.3] Jae: time because I think you've got many other developments
[3611.3] Jae: coming through in the next few months
[3613.3] Jae: years Mr.
[3616.97] Jae: and we have actually overrun
[3622.2] Jae: us for nine hours
[3624.2] Jae: the trouble is I also have
[3626.2] Jae: to move to stop the broadcast
[3628.2] Jae: so Tony
[3630.2] Jae: you've got to run
[3632.2] Tony: upstairs
[3634.2] Tony: now Jay haven't you to press stop
[3636.2] Tony: actually
[3638.2] Tony: instead of getting me to talk
[3640.2] Tony: let's see how far
[3642.2] Tony: you can get up there and turn it off
[3644.2] Tony: I'll count
[3647.93] Tony: leave the hundred meter dash
[3649.93] Jae: no actually
[3651.93] Jae: before you can see me actually
[3653.93] Jae: Martin it's good to actually say this in person

[3659.93] Jae: this podcast that's moved from home to home
[3661.93] Jae: we've been kicked out from the original Thursday night show
