The LDO team (mostly) have finally landed back downafter the awesome Mini Airshow 3 (Brighton).

[188.56] Jae: but actually the Tramp VTX is what I flew the whole weekend,

[194.72] Frank: There's a lot of tramps and unifiers,
[197.32] Frank: pretty much ubiquitous across all the teams now.

[203.8] Frank: Things over mostly, but yeah.

[213.06] Jae: that were a bit more prepared for the team relay race.
[215.42] Jae: Obviously, that was one of the highlights of the weekend.
[218.02] Jae: As in, people were just mixing up
[219.3] Jae: their left-hand circular polarizer,
[221.22] Jae: right-hand circular polarizer between the peak frequencies,
[223.58] Jae: and turning off their VTXs if they crashed,
[226.94] Jae: which is always good.
[228.1] Frank: Yeah, the smart audio, I think people got good usage
[232.14] Frank: out of the smart audio for switching off there,
[234.58] Frank: or switching it into pit mode.
[237.22] Clint: I mean, that's two lessons that we learned.
[239.74] Clint: Was one from Tony, which is putting the transponder
[243.1] Clint: on the balance cable of the battery,
[245.02] Clint: which was kind of a no-brainer when you think about it.
[247.86] Clint: And the other one was that smart audio
[249.06] Clint: and people being able to shut down their transmers.
[251.18] Clint: That was crazy.
[252.62] Tony: That was Jack Nash, by the way,
[255.34] Tony: who sort of thought of that idea.

[440.46] Jae: and whether it's malicious or not, nearby,
[443.98] Jae: sometimes people have to be very careful.
[446.18] Jae: And if they're flying TM25V1s.
[449.5] Frank: Yeah, I think also the changing frequencies,
[454.06] Frank: because if someone crashed out,
[455.94] Frank: then they were swapping between the two frequencies
[458.18] Frank: that the team had,
[459.42] Frank: and if it wasn't on one of the BTXs
[462.62] Frank: that is really quiet when it changes frequencies,
[465.18] Frank: then, yeah, that kind of blats everyone out
[468.54] Frank: just for a couple of frames,
[470.46] Frank: which isn't fun.
[473.18] Frank: Yeah, we also ended up having to close
[475.7] Frank: the kind of open free flight fields
[480.5] Frank: that was way, way over on South Park,
[483.34] Frank: hidden behind a load of trees in most of a hill.
[486.7] Frank: Yeah, there was just, I think it's probably
[490.3] Frank: only a very small minority of people
[492.66] Frank: that maybe weren't on 25 milliwatts or something,
[497.3] Frank: or maybe had another switcher or something,
[499.78] Frank: but it seemed to be that it was kind of
[502.42] Frank: blatting a few people out.
[503.7] Frank: And with the rotor racing,
[507.22] Frank: with the relay going on quite a bit behind schedule,
[510.74] Frank: we just ended up having to close that, unfortunately,
[514.1] Frank: just to make sure that it could try and catch up.
[518.26] Frank: It's a bit of a disappointment,
[519.3] Frank: because we were hoping,
[520.9] Frank: when we did all the testing,
[522.1] Frank: there was absolutely nothing bleeding over between them,
[525.42] Frank: but I guess that's with pilots
[527.98] Frank: that we know are on the right frequencies
[530.42] Frank: and they're on the right power, more importantly.
[536.9] Frank: And yeah, we were hoping that we could have,
[540.06] Frank: we could use the hidden value space
[543.94] Frank: to be able to break this hard ceiling
[547.82] Frank: that we have of the eight channels at any one time,
[555.02] Frank: so that we could have more people flying.
[558.54] Frank: With an FFPB separation,
[560.06] Frank: but unfortunately, it's not to be,
[563.82] Frank: so that was a bit of a shame,
[566.26] Frank: but still, lots of people did get a lot of flying in,
[569.82] Frank: I think over the course of the weekend, so.

[967.78] Jae: it's a good social aspect of racing
[970.78] Jae: for larger numbers of pilots.

[2054.87] NJ: It's just, unfortunately, incredibly good at dissipating your soldering iron heat.
[2059.79] NJ: And what PCB designers will normally do is to put thermal reliefs around each pad, which
[2066.03] NJ: stopped the heat dissipating and escaping.
[2068.31] NJ: So you can just heat up that pad without it dissipating to the rest of the ground rail
[2072.83] NJ: and through your battery wires and what else.
[2075.87] NJ: So yeah, it was a real pig to solder any of the ground.
[2080.15] NJ: So I mean, it was in excess of 400, 450 degrees C on the iron to get pins melting, which is
[2089.47] NJ: a hell of a lot.
[2091.39] NJ: But yeah, now it's all up and working and flying.

[2168.23] NJ: and that's an occupational hazard for me when I'm reviewing all of this stuff,

[2174.75] NJ: And sometimes I get sent stuff pre-production.
[2176.99] NJ: So as reviewers, we're sent this pre-production stuff out
[2182.07] NJ: so that we can flag up the problems,

[2190.43] NJ: the first proper brushless BL-Heli-S ESCs they released

[2293.61] NJ: will have their pluses and their minuses.

[2300.81] NJ: piled it into some stationary objects a few times.

[2385.69] NJ: and then higher thrust at the other end of the scale.

[2433.65] NJ: And I want to know fairly accurately how much I've
[2437.69] NJ: pulled out the pack so that I know exactly
[2440.53] NJ: when to land despite the flight timer.
[2443.17] NJ: So if I know I've pulled the right amount out,
[2445.17] NJ: I know that's the time to land.
[2447.61] NJ: And in a minute, yeah, that unfortunately is the bit

[2779.25] NJ: you can adjust that voltage to match,
