[249.52] Frank: I think that registration isn't going to do that. It's going to be expensive. It's going to be ineffective
[255.52] Frank: And it's just going to take our details make them hackable and not have any positive effect
[261.2] Frank: So that's my take on it. I agree. They're targeting the wrong people. Yeah, it's it's going to have

[617.52] Frank: And balper and the military somebody or other um to to work out how dangerous are drones to manned aircraft

[650.72] Frank: Basically, if it's not a really big drone that's carrying a really big camera underneath. It's not going to have an effect on a passenger jet

[662.0] Frank: So that's really what we need to be worried about is helicopters and not passenger jets

[669.6] Frank: uh, it turns out that there's if you actually look through the the test report

[710.72] Frank: had access to and presumably being given permission to publish a photo of

[780.62] Frank: um commercial helicopter pilots light aircraft so the people that do all the surveying or
[786.14] Frank: Um all that kind of thing

[793.42] Tony: This picture was taken during drone pollutant testing. There was a larger a larger hobbyist
[799.1] Tony: penetrating an aircraft windscreen we hope that
[802.54] Tony: Virgin government action will now follow to control this proven threat before there is a disaster and lives a loss. So i've seen youtube, um videos of
[811.42] Tony: Pilots whether they're real or not because let's face it is the internet
[816.14] Tony: um saying that they're not afraid of them at all because the
[821.02] Tony: The uh, what do you call the air round of craft when it's coming into land or taking off the wake
[826.46] Frank: Or just push them everything out of the way. That's that's one thing. There's there's no information and whether or not they've considered that in the report
[834.78] Frank: Also, they were doing so what they were actually doing here was they were doing computer simulations
[840.7] Frank: And then they were testing to make sure that the computer simulation was accurate by doing
[845.82] Frank: one test for each
[847.98] Frank: drone size
[850.22] Frank: in each scenario, so airline

[854.54] Frank: helicopter with bird strike

[858.14] Frank: um, so

[862.06] Frank: What speed they actually tested at?

[868.06] Frank: This is where there's a clear point and that's a convenient point to test it
[872.46] Frank: And as long as the computer model is showing the same thing as your experiment
[877.02] Frank: Then that means that your computer model is reasonable and you contrast all the other results that your computer model is giving you
[882.46] Frank: so if you tested it at
[885.1] Frank: A million miles an hour and it came out with the same results. I mean, that's a perfect exaggeration say
[889.5] Frank: I don't know 500 miles an hour
[891.82] Frank: Are saying okay. That's the biggest effect if that
[895.1] Frank: Whole size in the windscreen and the real windscreen is the same as the whole size that's predicted by your computer
[900.94] Frank: Then all the other speeds seem

[905.58] Frank: So we don't know what speed it was tested at we don't know
[909.18] Frank: Which drone it was we don't know how heavy the parts were
[911.82] Frank: We know that they were replacing fiberglass parts with metal parts because they needed to be able to fire it out the cannon
[917.66] Frank: Out of the air cannon without it falling to bits
[920.62] Frank: So we don't know what effect that would have had we don't know if they've considered that in any of the evaluations
[925.9] Frank: So there's just a whole load of questions that mean that

[930.86] Frank: Not very clear what this actually means at the moment

[977.26] Frank: And the other thing is they were very clear like this is the worst case scenario if it's dead on the windscreen

[999.42] Frank: Wouldn't it yeah, it's like doing a crash test

[1004.86] Frank: And then saying ah, well the brick going through the windscreen on the motorway is very dangerous. Therefore
[1010.7] Frank: We shouldn't allow people to have bricks. They're very dangerous. Yeah, you know

[1018.38] Frank: It shouldn't be there anyway
[1020.38] Frank: it's just sitting so

[1059.26] Tony: When they're taking off a landing, it's not going to be bad. Is it and if it hit a windscreen when it was up high
[1066.54] Tony: The higher it is the more unlikely it is going to hit the windscreen anyway, because we can't fly that high so exactly but

[1075.74] Frank: This is all talking about airliners and if you look at the helicopters, it was just very clear that
[1081.66] Frank: You're going to do a lot of damage to a helicopter. So that's another reason
[1085.98] Frank: It really backs up having a spotter if you're flying fpv
[1089.1] Frank: Because if you've got a spotter who's keeping an eye on the sky and can warn you. Oh, there's a helicopter coming in

[1098.94] Frank: You can actually land before it gets to you because if a helicopter is going low and going fast
[1104.62] Frank: Which they do sometimes do for various reasons
[1107.74] Frank: Uh, you might actually not hear it coming before

[1113.1] Frank: Um, or it might not sound as close as it is
[1116.14] Tony: So it is a good reason to have a spotter. They could damage your helicopter. I agree. Yeah

[1127.02] Frank: Birds don't have a lot of newspaper coverage if they hit a helicopter

[1274.99] Frank: First it was said that it was a drone was
[1278.03] Frank: Newspaper interviewing a passenger saying oh, they spotted a drone out off the wing

[1324.67] Digby Dan: And then coming down obviously changing a pack. I mean the time length was too long

[1337.13] Tony: Well i've been to gatwick parked at the end of the runway and they got cameras there and they they will send you
[1343.45] Tony: Send someone out in like minutes and you'll be told to move can't park there
[1348.89] Tony: You can't look at the planes bugger off. So yeah how anyone there took off with a quad or whatever it was
[1356.57] Tony: Probably end up being a carrier bag like it normally does
[1360.33] Tony: That or in australia. It was a fruit bat in the end. They found out so
