[332.16] Tony: down in the hole and without cutting away and hacking away you won't get a

[519.2] Andy: yeah it's got the m7 gimbals in stock so you don't have to

[979.66] Frank: and there was a picture posted by balper the british airline
[983.66] Frank: pilot association showing how badly damaged
[986.78] Frank: an airline would be by a drone smashing through its windscreen
[991.98] Frank: um and for the past few months i've been emailing back and forth trying to get

[1004.38] Frank: shoddy and they but they refused to give out very much information at all
[1008.14] Frank: for security reasons so i was just trying to get

[1019.98] Frank: like camera rig rather than a phantom or a
[1023.98] Frank: mini quad or anything so um i mean obviously it wasn't a natural

[1034.7] Frank: a windscreen so it was i mean it's you know standard kind of
[1038.46] Frank: mathsy stuff they take it down by weight but then they
[1042.62] Frank: multiply it by speed and it all kind of evens out to have the same
[1046.3] Frank: effect um that kind of thing but um and that's all that's all fine i have no
[1051.5] Frank: problem with that but they you know showed this massive
[1056.14] Frank: annihilation of a windscreen saying ah drones do this
[1060.14] Frank: but actually that was the result for some huge thing
[1063.66] Frank: um and they replaced it well yeah they did loads of other stuff as

[1073.74] Frank: equivalent image of something like what we fly and
[1080.14] Frank: basically they said oh we never actually did that test uh
[1085.18] Frank: because we had no other windscreens uh so we didn't do that uh so that was all

[1094.94] Frank: that it would never do like even at the highest uh closing
[1101.02] Frank: speed it would only ever damage the outside
[1105.1] Frank: the outermost layer of the windshield and would never do anything else so

[1212.54] Frank: a drone has collided with a commercial aircraft in canada the first such
[1216.22] Frank: incidents in the country according to the transport ministry
[1219.18] Frank: the drone struck one of the plane's wings while six passengers and two crew
[1222.62] Frank: members were aboard the aircraft sustained only minor damage
[1226.06] Frank: and was able to land safely the canadian transport minister said
[1229.1] Frank: earlier this year canada announced that it was making it illegal to fly
[1232.62] Frank: recreational drones near airports the law prohibited airborne drones within
[1237.34] Frank: three and a half miles of an airport and restricted the height of an
[1239.98] Frank: drone's flights to 300 feet those breaking restrictions could base
[1243.98] Frank: fines of up to 25 000 canadian dollars or 15 000 pounds
[1247.98] Frank: the skyjet flight was heading to quebec city's john massage
[1251.58] Frank: international airport when the drone hit it on 12th of october

[4417.95] Skitzo: so uh originally it was a 2205 motor that we were that steel was working on with uh tim from
[4423.71] Skitzo: lumineer and uh me and him both picked out the uh because steel wanted to wanted advice on a really
[4431.79] Skitzo: cool color that you should pick out and we both went for the skyline the nissan skyline purple
[4437.79] Skitzo: yep and that is what that purple color is based off of and uh they went back and forth a few times
[4443.31] Skitzo: with a few different iterations and he didn't like it so he pulled out and i took over and we went
[4449.31] Skitzo: you know um a few iterations more and i just kind of stuck in it and decided to do it with him the
[4455.31] Skitzo: ceramic bearing thing was um well ceramic bearings are just better than steel bearings in in just
[4461.07] Skitzo: about every every way and and with one of the you know i think that was another thing was we wanted
[4466.75] Skitzo: to offer a really high quality motor because there was no other fpb uh motor on the market
[4471.79] Skitzo: that you know use ceramic bearings so that was kind of the the biggest thing on that was just
[4476.27] Skitzo: try to make it unique you know and they draw less current as well they do draw less current um i'm
[4482.03] Skitzo: really annoyed that and they sound smoother so the only problem um that the ceramic because the
[4487.87] Skitzo: another misconception is that ceramic bearings break easier that's actually false they actually
[4492.51] Skitzo: handle um they can actually take a harder impact than steel but the problem is is if they do take
[4499.07] Skitzo: a if they reach their critical point they actually shatter and they just the motors become completely
[4503.95] Skitzo: useless in the sense though where a steel bearing can take a really hard hit and it will just kind
[4508.91] Skitzo: of dent and stuff and it will still function it will just be crappy so it's like one of those things
[4514.19] Skitzo: yeah exactly like so the the steel bearing will still work even though you've had a really bad
[4518.51] Skitzo: crash i mean not always obviously you can always blow out bearings but uh so that's the only the
[4523.63] Skitzo: main difference is uh if they do hit that critical point the ceramic bearings will just be done
[4528.83] Tony: so you know when you know when you've got to change it when you've got running ceramic then
[4533.95] Tony: what's that you know you know when you've got to change it when you're running ceramic and
[4537.79] Tony: if you've had a crash yeah because your motor won't turn basically well a little bit it's just

[4551.31] Jack: got more of a problem than just their ends being bound up they just kind of shatter into pieces

[4588.35] Skitzo: better than anyone else's it's not like that i mean just almost all motors out there are good
[4593.71] Skitzo: now i mean it's really just personal preference at this point but one thing i did notice though
[4597.95] Skitzo: when i was going through i tried the new gold series cobra motors i've tried uh the emacs uh
[4604.59] Skitzo: red bottoms i've tried i've tried multiple motors and race flight has a cool little motor test which
[4610.03] Skitzo: beta flight has too obviously but um that um essentially you hold the quad in your hand and
[4616.11] Skitzo: it'll spool up each motor and they'll tell you how much noise was registered from each motor from the
[4621.07] Skitzo: gyro and it's kind of just a cool little test so you can kind of see you know just how smooth each
[4625.47] Skitzo: motor is and they actually have a little rating system on them and my motor is always consistently
[4631.31] Skitzo: scored way lower than everyone else's on the market in terms of you know actual vibrations
[4636.11] Skitzo: that it's creating so i'm sorry you know it's things like that you know that the another thing
[4642.27] Skitzo: and then we can move on is the the actual process of the motor creation is actually more grueling
[4648.75] Skitzo: in the sense that uh every motor factory does a vibration test when they're when they're done
[4654.19] Skitzo: assembling the motor they put it on a machine they spool it out to see how much vibration it
[4658.11] Skitzo: um it produces and if it doesn't produce enough or if it produces too much vibration they have
[4663.23] Skitzo: that like a threshold value they put it back on the assembly line and break it back down and
[4667.31] Skitzo: or whatever i don't know what they do with it after that but pull the bell off and then put
[4673.31] Skitzo: yeah they might re-balance it or do a new battle or i don't know what the process is once they
[4677.47] Skitzo: find out that it's not going to pass the uh qa or um qc but uh but mine is uh is has like half
[4685.55] Skitzo: the tolerance value so it's it's very very critical on uh hey you got a purple motor there you end up
[4691.15] Curry: with little blobs like yeah you can see that yeah but but anyway i was just saying that the tolerance
[4699.95] Skitzo: values for mine are much lower so they they have to be ultra smoother they don't let them leave the
[4704.59] Tony: factory is what i'm getting at so i've done the race flight uh test the other day on my motors and
[4711.79] Tony: it told me my moto 4 was bad and i looked at it and it was full of mud so it worked
[4722.03] Skitzo: instead but it's useful it was useful because if your quads flying like garbage like i i wouldn't
[4728.11] Skitzo: say put it look at it and and throw away your motors if it scores bad but it's useful if if
[4732.99] Skitzo: your quads flying like garbage and you do the motor test and one of them's way higher than the
