[259.55] Frank: at the Commercial UAV show over at the XL in London. What do you mean save the day? What happened?
[268.75] Frank: So we've been asked to come along and make use of the demo cage in the evening while everyone else
[278.51] Frank: is getting a bit tipsy. So we went along and we got given a little stand at the end as well.
[290.91] Frank: So we were there pretty much all day with a simulator running Velocidrone. We had
[298.83] Frank: just a pile of quads and wings and stuff and just kind of confusing all these people that
[304.99] Frank: turned up to talk about the latest in aerial photography and surveying. Oh, is that what it
[314.67] Andy: was? So it's a more sort of like... Professional. Aerial photography. Professional. We are professionals.
[323.07] Jack: What us f***ing dickheads. Yeah. It was the worst thing ever. They would ask us like,
[328.19] Jack: so what do you guys do? What's Lexi drone now? And we're just like the likes of you who have got
[334.03] Jack: like a matching suit. Your shoes are polished. You don't want to know what we are. If someone
[339.07] Andy: says that to you and then you respond with, well, you know how some people aren't sure whether the
[344.67] Jack: world's round. How do you have that conversation? It's like, you know, like what do you do? Just hand
[355.31] Jack: them this. Take a swig of this and let us tell you. Let Uncle Jack tell you a story.
[363.55] Andy: So yeah. Oh man. So is that why you decided not to go today then? Because it was a lot more...
[369.87] Andy: You guys don't do aerial photography at all. You're not into it at all. Yeah. We knew what we were
[375.63] Frank: getting ourselves in for. I don't think we were expecting there to be huge crowds of FPV as there,
[381.87] Frank: but it was just kind of, we got round it all in like about an hour. So did you get to fly in the
[390.35] Frank: cage did you take? Yeah. So we were flying on tiny whoops in the cage. So Carlos and Matt kept on
[400.99] Frank: because Matt had been asked to come along with Alliance and Flock and fly the DRL Raider 3
[410.27] Frank: in the cage and he kind of took one look at the cage and went... That was a bit small was it?
[416.91] Frank: It was a bit small and they had netting, but the netting was, there was no separation between
[423.95] Frank: the crowds and the netting. So if it had spun off somewhere and gone into the netting, it would just
[429.39] Frank: like smashed into someone's face with net between the drone and the face without holding the drone
[435.87] Jack: bag. The net was weighted, but not enough for a six inch DRL. Those DRL things, I don't know if
[444.51] Andy: you've noticed, they are like bricks. Aren't they like 800 grams or something? Yeah. And they're
[450.51] Jack: the same color. You're telling me like, honest to God, man, it looks like a corsa, a voxel corsa.
[459.47] Jack: It really does like one else. Probably even, right? If they had gray versions of the voxel nova,
[466.35] Jack: I'd say that. It's just so boxy. It just looks like a brick, a very angry lit up brick.
[476.43] Jack: Get a concrete block, put a load of LEDs on it and stack four blenders to it. There you go, DRL.
[483.71] Andy: Is that so the cameras can pick up line of sight? Yeah, exactly. That's why Zoe was saying

[525.71] Frank: And then, yeah, that was enough. And we flew tiny whoops around us. And then as the evening

[547.47] Jack: Apparently not. Yeah, we had this bird who thought she was like the drone traffic warden.
[556.03] Jack: Yeah, and would put like get on her tippy toes, put her hand out and like bat us out the air.
[560.75] Jack: Seriously, no way. That's not safe. Do you know what I mean? They run on batteries for like two
[566.03] Jack: minutes. Like, if you bat away and we lose control, and then we hit someone in the face,

[598.43] Frank: the tiny whoop through it. So that was quite fun. And then I was wandering around, doing my box

[617.55] Jack: Dale Kennedy said, did you guys notice that the free simulator from DRL is no longer free?
[623.15] Andy: Yeah, yeah, it's on Steam now. And I think is it like 15 quid or something like that? Because
[629.23] Andy: when I reviewed the DRL simulator, I put like, I can't remember the title, something like best
[634.83] Andy: or DRL simulator that's free. And now every other commentator is it's not free. And I'm like,
[640.83] Andy: yeah, check the date of the video. But yeah, it's a shame that is. And I need to check that out.
[646.35] Andy: Recently, I tried liftoff. And that's changed so much. That's got so much better. I don't know if
[651.95] Andy: you guys have got that. But yeah, I was really impressed that they give it a 3d option. So you
[658.19] Andy: can fly 3d, you know, like, like Zoe does, I've been trying that out. And they've added, they've
[664.59] Andy: added like loads of I tell you what they've added, they've added the Dubai racetrack, you know, the
[671.47] Andy: well, well, they've added that and that's pretty cool. That is pretty realistic.
[679.15] Andy: Oh, man, that is awesome. Yeah, it's worth checking out. And speaking of tiny groups,
[683.95] Andy: I've had something turned up today. And I think it's like, I think I'm the first to receive it.
[689.87] Andy: It's a a brushless tiny work. And it's from a company called full speed. And it like,
[700.11] Andy: it weighs nothing. I mean, you know, it's a 66 millimeter. I mean, this is this is a three inch
[707.31] Andy: quad against it. So it's it's tiny. And it's a one s runs off a one s. And we've got little tiny
[715.87] Andy: brushless motors that came up to that came today. So I don't know much about it. But that should be
[722.19] Andy: cool. Because this company full speed, they do really good. It's got an on screen display built
[726.75] Andy: into and everything. So be a fly how I know on screen display winter is coming. Yeah, it should
[734.35] Jack: be good for that. So are you willing to take it apart and scan the carbon fiber bits so that
[740.67] Jack: Andrew can use it as a layout for his for that at the moment, what what I really need is motor
[748.83] Frank: leads for motors that don't just fracture from the flight controller. So with my brushless at the
[756.59] Frank: moment, I just have the leads just snap away from what you're doing to it and smashing into stuff.
[764.67] Andy: Well, yeah, a little bit. But not that bad. That's a lot of stuff you've got back there.
[774.35] Jack: It was really nice. Andy. Yeah, thrust. I love it. Mr. Throg, did you get the GTA mod done?
[780.75] Jack: I've tried three day 3D and failed misery says David boy.
[785.63] Jack: Damn, damn on barn said Yeah, liftoffs gotten really good. It is really good.
[790.83] Jack: You have a star mode. Oh my god, there's a freestyle mode. There's a freestyle mode. But I
[796.27] Andy: kind of didn't like that. What it does is it like you get given a minute to do a load of freestyle
[802.11] Andy: moves and it recognizes things like, I don't know, inverted jaw spins. And it gives you points for
[807.87] Andy: every trick that you do. And you have to get so many points within a minute. And I don't know,
[813.39] Andy: I wasn't too keen on that. But I was more impressed with like, just just the updates in
[818.43] Andy: general. And it flies a lot better as well. I think it's, it's a lot easier to get through gates
[824.83] Andy: and stuff. And it flies more like the flight controllers that we've got. This is the problem
[830.83] Andy: when you have a simulator like when liftoffers came out, it was realistic. But as flight controllers
[837.07] Andy: update and get more snappier and better tunes, then they have to do the same with the simulators.
[842.67] Andy: Otherwise, it becomes unrealistic. But they've done that with liftoff. Yeah, so I need to do
[848.43] Andy: an update video on that because it's like loads of different quads as well. Loads of different
[854.03] Andy: quads you can choose from. It was just like two when it first came out. Which one has the best
[860.03] Andy: physics? Velocidrone or liftoff? Well, it's tricky because I would have said Velocidrone,
[866.91] Andy: but liftoffs really improved. The one thing I find, I find Velocidrone great for freestyle stuff,
[874.51] Andy: but I tend to find the racing stuff like trying to go through gates, I find that on Velocidrone,
[879.79] Andy: there's like so much drift. But I know quads do drift when you go through a race course and that,
[885.39] Andy: but I find it really tricky to to get through the gates of Velocidrone. Whereas liftoff seems
[892.19] Andy: get similar to actual real gates. So that's what I like about what I do like about Velocidrone is
[900.19] Andy: if you're into line of sight, then Velocidrone's got a really good line of sight setting. So it's
[906.75] Andy: I would say a bit of both, to be honest, it's good to have both. And then I think they're both
[911.39] Andy: quite cheap anyways, you know, so get both. Okay, Andy R.C.'s recommendation.
[920.61] Jack: Buy everything. Fantastic. And if you're on a budget, Andy R.C., buy everything.
[929.41] Andy: Well, if you're on a budget, I mean, come on, they're both worth 15 quid, so you get two
[933.73] Andy: two of the best FPV simulators for like 30 quid or something. I don't think that's fair. Of course,
[939.49] Andy: then you're going to you don't need to transmit it, but then you can get like a cheap fly sky
[944.37] Andy: I6 and those will both work with that. That is a good point.
[952.61] Jack: Like, I hate the auto correct on here, man. It's so weird. It's like mixed in. Sorry.
[961.46] Frank: Anyway, so as we were wandering around yesterday, so during the day, we bumped into
[970.98] Frank: Inga FPV and Aris from DroneyBoad, which is a Latvian FPV kind of equivalent of, I guess,
[981.86] Frank: a drone bit or something like that, you know, sort of stores, you know, spare parts stockists.
[990.66] Frank: So... Was DJI there, Andy?
[995.54] Frank: I don't actually remember seeing DJI specifically.
[999.78] Andy: That's surprising. They released a new version of the Mavic yesterday, an Apple-only Mavic.
[1008.74] Andy: It's the white one. All in white, yeah. Did you see them?
[1013.22] Digby Dan: Did you also see they've got this new box of toys that takes over drones?
[1018.34] Frank: Oh, yeah. I can't remember what it's called, but it's a little box that kind of doesn't take
[1028.1] Digby Dan: over drones, doesn't it? Yeah, so it records everything, doesn't it? So are you right? It
[1033.86] Digby Dan: doesn't take over. But essentially, if it's a DJI drone, and it's flying, then it can be
[1038.74] Digby Dan: monitored by this device that will record everything it's seeing and record where it lands,
[1044.9] Digby Dan: essentially. So the authorities can get you. Yeah, so they're going to be selling it to,
[1053.38] Frank: like, the police or particularly airports is what they're going to be aiming.
[1057.14] Andy: I love selling it. We'll sell it to them, yeah. They'll probably be asking for it for free,
[1062.98] Andy: weren't they, with the amount of money DJI make off these things.
[1066.5] Digby Dan: It does look like something out of James Bond's box of tricks. It's the big suitcase kind of
[1071.38] Digby Dan: open up, and there's a screen and aerials. Oh, God. That's for sure.
[1076.58] Frank: It listens to all the telemetry that the DJI's are putting out, so it knows.
[1084.34] Andy: So it's kind of funny. If you think about it, they're like the cause of the problem and
[1089.54] Andy: selling the solution. It's like they came up with a disease and you have to pay for the antidote or
[1095.86] Digby Dan: something. Well, it's got your email address locked into your drone, which was interesting
[1101.46] Digby Dan: for them to admit. So your email address is locked into its preferences, so they can immediately get
[1107.94] Frank: your email address. I thought they were saying on there that they wouldn't have access to that
[1112.98] Frank: directly. They would only have your serial number from the device, and then they would have
[1118.66] Frank: to match that up to your email address somewhere else. So I thought there was something very clear
[1122.74] Frank: about trying to make sure that no one through having this device would have access to your
[1129.14] Frank: personal details directly. Is email address really that personal? No, no mistake.
[1137.54] Frank: No, but it's, you know, not here, but if you're in other states where the internet is maybe a bit
[1146.18] Frank: more closely surveilled, then it could be an issue, I imagine. The thing is, if you're not
[1151.54] Andy: doing anything dodgy anyways, then there's no need to be fearful of that kind of thing,
[1157.54] Digby Dan: really, I guess. It'd be interesting to see if it affects those jailbroken ones as well.

[1243.3] Andy: It just sounded like absolute. How did Tony end up on the radio talking about his pole?
[1250.9] Frank: Oh, yeah, this then led to BBC Sussex to get hold of Dom, because Dom's the go-to guy,
[1260.18] Frank: whenever the BBC needs someone for a comment in the southeast. And Dom passed that on to Tony.

[1997.92] Ash: But it's tricky when people are talking for an hour or so.

[2003.2] Ash: One of the big take-homes from it, I guess,
[2005.36] Ash: is that they did state the registration will be compulsory in a couple of years.
[2010.64] Ash: And also, they mentioned, I might have misheard, that mandatory education.
[2015.44] Ash: But they might have been talking about the PIFCO, the professional commercial use.
[2022.56] Ash: But yeah, besides that, it was really interesting.
[2025.12] Ash: Also, NACTS were there, the air traffic control guys,
[2027.92] Ash: talking about drone assist, their app,
[2030.72] Ash: to help you understand if you're going to be flying in a dodgy airspace.
[2035.28] Ash: That was really interesting as well.
[2036.64] Andy: Was it mostly like DJI crowd?
[2040.8] Andy: Or was it a mix of race drones and stuff?
[2044.08] Andy: Or what type of people were there?
[2047.2] Ash: I think most of the guys there had never been a racing drone before.
[2051.44] Ash: And there was actually a road to Rush.

[2075.92] Ash: a throttle that's spring-loaded to the middle.
[2079.36] Ash: They were all used to the concepts of a non-spring-loaded throttle.

[2084.4] Ash: For them, it was a real good insight.
[2086.16] Ash: And also, it showed them what the other side of drones is about.
[2088.96] Ash: It's not just about phantoms and aerial photography.
[2092.16] Ash: I think it opened some of their eyes to this could be a new interest for us as well.
[2096.0] Ash: So that's in the video as well.
[2099.52] Ash: I think it's a shame there weren't other manufacturers there.
[2102.16] Ash: They didn't charge unique to be there.
[2103.68] Ash: In fact, I don't think anybody was charged to be there.
[2106.4] Ash: So in theory, anybody from a manufacturer retail perspective could have gone
[2112.4] Ash: and had a small stand.
[2113.6] Andy: But aren't they doing a few of them, though, Ash?
[2115.44] Andy: Isn't this just one of many that they're doing?

[2192.48] Ash: So registration is a little bit like that.
[2194.8] Ash: It's only going to impact us who care about regulation, the people who don't care about
[2200.4] Ash: regulation are going to ignore anything that they bring in anyway.

[2209.6] Ash: I must say, if it's affected me, like I was talking about that waterproof drone,
[2213.76] Ash: I drove around for hours trying to find somewhere that I could morally accept test flying it.
