[44.8] Jack: kind of know what he's going to say. Anyway we've got someone who matters, Nerk, Nerk FPV everyone.

[216.0] Jack: I'm going to say. So I've got a cute little story to start off with. So I've got a friend of mine
[223.84] Jack: who has also you know has got a buddy and he really wanted to get into FPV and he came down
[230.16] Jack: and visited my friend. They went out for a quick flight he's like dude I'm going to go for a fly
[235.28] Jack: start flying he used to be an RC buddy and he saw the wonderful world of light FPV put the goggles on
[246.24] Jack: like had the whole experience and that and essentially he was like man I really want to
[253.36] Jack: get into this so he had a go at trying to build his drone and my friend said like you know how
[260.64] Jack: you're doing with building the drone not so good got recommended to me came over helped build his
[266.08] Jack: drone. So anyway this friend of a friend has a kid his name's William or Will and he's been
[278.4] Jack: getting into FPV with his dad and his dad stuck him on a simulator because he heard about you know
[282.72] Jack: the sims are being really good so he's been playing that non-stop and he's been out flying
[286.32] Jack: with his dad all the time and he's gotten pretty good and so I'm chatting to my friend the other
[290.88] Jack: day and he mentions it and you know Will's been watching like YouTube and everything he came
[295.76] Jack: across your obviously the most popular video known to man train train diving horizontal diving of
[302.72] Jack: trains and uh you're your favorite FPV pilot and I was like oh man I have not had him on the show
[309.12] Jack: and then I uh stay up really late and message you like last night and I was like dude it turns out
[314.4] Jack: we've got a slot like free this week we're like booked all of January thanks to Frank because I've
[320.16] Jack: been ill and uh yeah me and you were just chatting you were like yeah sure man I'm on like
[326.4] Jack: yeah so you've basically got a kit like a crew of like 13 year olds in some sort of like
[331.84] Jack: middle class upper class school like you know like totally rocking out to your uh your stuff
[336.88] Jack: man that's awesome yeah man like I've watched a few of like your um you know yeah a few of your
[345.12] Jack: videos man like I was like uh like you're I don't know like you just seem like a really like genuine
[350.88] Jack: real character and especially with your sort of like you know like I just the way you were just
[355.6] Jack: like sort of semi like long-range FPV and watching you like poison ivy yourself to death
[363.28] Jack: sounds like something Tony might do tonight if you haven't wandered around in a dot someone's
[367.6] Andy: just asked about that Richard Harwood uh says uh nirk how's the poison ivy injury man they
[374.8] Nurk: got nasty for a while so so the story is if anybody hasn't heard it like I was out flying
[379.36] Nurk: in uh California on the west coast of the United States and um we I was I was I was out does doing
[385.84] Nurk: some like longer range I call it free range stuff and I I violated a Frenzel zone got a little bit
[391.6] Nurk: too low behind a bank and my quad just straight into the straight into the bush and I had no idea
[397.76] Nurk: why like I'm just flabbergasted and confused and so we spent like the next like two hours trying to
[402.96] Nurk: find it and that whole time I'm having to like crawl through like literally like 10 feet deep
[410.56] Nurk: brush so like I'm like I'm like not touching the ground I'm just kind of like crawling over top of
[417.2] Nurk: this stuff and at some point in there I picked up poison oak which is apparently very very common
[422.96] Nurk: in the on the coast of California and uh like literally all of my arms both arms um up like my
[430.8] Nurk: my stomach and my chest and my face got like covered in this massive poison oak rash to the
[436.72] Nurk: point where like I had to go to the hospital and get steroid shots and a prescription medication
[442.48] Nurk: to like help it clear up so Richard thank you very much for asking but uh it's finally just
[448.8] Nurk: about cleared up so I'm I'm in the clear now but man that was rough that's crazy so I think
[456.16] Andy: something that um that we usually talk about with like new guesses is sort of how they got into
[461.92] Andy: FPV themselves what what the story is and and sort of how you got to where you were so do you
[468.32] Andy: want to talk through that how you started and what you started with and how you got to the point where
[473.76] Nurk: you are so uh actually during the holidays is pretty relevant because like um three years ago
[480.96] Nurk: so just Christmas of 2014 um my in-laws got me a drone for Christmas and you know we started
[488.24] Nurk: playing around with it like you know after I got comfortable like just keeping it in the air um
[492.96] Nurk: you know just uh we started playing games with it immediately like we're looking at like how
[497.76] Nurk: can we push this how can we do something more and new and have more and more fun with it to the
[502.24] Nurk: point where like we were we were basically like we put we made like paper funnels on top of it
[506.32] Nurk: and like we were like playing beer pong like trying to like bounce the ball and land it in the cup on
[510.64] Nurk: top of the drone and stuff like it was really fun um and so a couple months after that I started
[515.68] Nurk: doing a bunch of research on YouTube and learning how to do my first build I bought a ZMR 250 kit
[521.28] Nurk: from uh mini quad bros um I built that up I got that flying it it's maiden was March 15th of 2015
[531.28] Nurk: and uh and I was at my first race in June of 2015 and then it's all a giant downhill spiral from
[539.76] Nurk: there how did you get into racing then um if I recall so I I think I had always been in it to
[547.2] Nurk: get into racing so at that once I started flying I wanted to know how like where where can I start
[554.56] Nurk: where can I be going um how can I get to a race and I had posted something to reddit I think or
[559.36] Nurk: I was a part of a conversation and uh somebody jumped on it his name his name is Gary I reached
[566.0] Nurk: out and said hey we're doing a race here in Louisville which is a two-hour drive for me
[570.48] Nurk: this weekend you should come out and compete and so I drove down there I actually filmed like
[576.24] Nurk: kind of my first vlog on the way to that um and uh race and actually won my category and so at my
[583.04] Nurk: first race which is great so that was uh that was when we still did like four cell three cell stuff
[587.68] Nurk: and I won the three cell four cell the hell on a three cell yeah that was that's back in the day
[598.11] Nurk: this is 50 30 props 1806 motors and three cells on a 250 size quad
[603.95] Jack: 1606 man but you make me feel so old like you're saying like 2015 like
[610.11] Jack: I don't know I just that was like a decade in quads yeah it is I know I suppose
[616.43] Jack: they're um sorry I'm distracted by the the uh chat apparently that the shots are a lifesaver
[622.83] Jack: with poison ivy apparently still was freaked out by british stinging nettles it goes both ways
[629.07] Nurk: stinging metal sucks but only briefly and then it's like whatever
[632.83] Jack: yeah and then at least with stinging nettles the antenna grows next to it I'm saying like
[638.51] Jack: dock leaves don't work Richard Hartwell said Jack you need to rub harder uh don't spit on them
[645.31] Jack: uh they work just fine for me so like there's a whole like I don't know like let's throw it out
[651.47] Jack: like they'd rather talk about stinging nettles and then then then quads so yeah was this your
[659.63] NJ: first venture into RC anything or were you doing other RC stuff before this I never did any RC
[664.99] Nurk: stuff before like I had like an air hogs plane when I was really young um but uh like my that's
[671.07] Nurk: kind of like usually if you're gonna get into it at a really young age like it's kind of a father
[675.63] Nurk: son sort of thing yeah my dad has really bad vision in one eye and so he has no depth perception
[682.43] Nurk: so like RC never made sense for him because it just he can't and so like even though I'd always
[688.51] Nurk: kind of been interested in it that was not something that we shared and so when I kind
[692.27] Nurk: of became an adult you know found myself with a little extra money I was like well let's try it
[696.67] Nurk: and uh well now that's all I'm doing and it's taking all my money so
[701.07] Jack: so um the the storm caller uh I lost my GoPro in long grass as well and um
[710.35] Jack: I basically use Tony who has a metal detector so that might be quite a good way of finding your
[717.79] Jack: GoPro but it sounds like um uh yeah you should go back to places now it's winter and they should
[724.35] Jack: have died back if it's still working can I just ask because I've never encountered like poison ivy
[729.55] Jack: poison oak and the only reference I've got to it is you know Alex from um flight test
[735.55] Jack: no doing some slope sawing stuff and like he he like crashed out walked down the slope and then
[739.79] Jack: as he came back up he's like oh man that smells really nice and he goes oh that's poison ivy
[744.91] Jack: and uh does it smell nice is that how you can tell it's it or is it the three things with the dots
[750.03] Jack: on it well how do I not die if I end up in the FPV in America the problem is I had no idea that
[757.07] Nurk: I was in it at all so I I don't I didn't know what to look for so and I guess I still don't
[763.71] Nurk: because I don't think I remember anything like spelling particularly nice that being said I got
[766.75] Nurk: into poison oak which is different from poison ivy but they're very similar kinds of things so maybe
[771.71] Nurk: poison oak doesn't smell or something like that but yeah it was rough and I was I wasn't paying
[778.43] Nurk: any attention I was literally like army crawling through bush trying to get up up the hill because
[785.07] Jack: you're doing some beautiful trying to like crawl along sideways along those cliffs and that and
[790.43] Jack: like you're doing all this crazy stuff and then you end up going down there and it's just like
[796.35] Nurk: to a degree I almost would have rather have just lost it in the ocean yeah and then I know I don't
[802.11] Nurk: need to go get it like but I can I can I could literally hear it 50 feet away and it took me 45
[808.99] Nurk: minutes to move 50 feet to get to the drone because of how thick the brush was and apparently
[814.67] Nurk: all of that was through poison ivy and what I didn't say in the video was like 20 minutes
[819.55] Nurk: after that because I was so exhausted I left my phone on the roof of the car and destroyed my phone
[824.51] Jack: and like it was just a bad day how do you make like a decent vlog like that without wanting to
[832.99] Nurk: like just kill yourself oh I do I want to kill myself the whole time but if that's the best
[837.71] Nurk: that's the best time to be shooting right because like you'll see that raw real like
[842.43] Nurk: fuck this shit kind of stuff like that's that's what you want you can't always have the pretty
[848.11] Nurk: doubt like you know and things didn't go great today no it's like this sucks you know I think
[853.07] Nurk: in one one point in the video when I'm crawling through the brush I'm just like screw this I'm
[856.99] Nurk: going back to video games like I'm never flying again like you know that's that's that's the fun
[861.63] Jack: of it yeah I know only RC can't go back to video games because he um he was killing dogs or
[868.83] Andy: something so that's a reference to the uh GTA video that I did which I think actually uh
[880.27] Andy: I think you may have commented on maybe some people said uh and the RC did this that's right
[885.63] Andy: because I tried to replicate what you did but that's right yeah because we don't have those
[890.35] Andy: kind of trains over here you know yeah yeah oh my gosh I go in GTA so uh yeah my my GTA video
[900.11] Andy: didn't quite get as many views as the one that you did so shall we shall we talk about that
[906.11] Andy: because we're talking a little bit about that offer so how many views did that bit you know
[911.63] Nurk: have it just like gone crazy viral um I think um what is it go on I was just gonna say like
[919.39] Nurk: what is it like waking up to that it was it was weird for sure like so I posted it in
[925.71] Nurk: the like the I think the afternoon of one day and then the next morning someone posted it to
[931.23] Nurk: like reddit r slash videos and for whatever reason it didn't get immediately down the
[936.43] Nurk: voted and kind of picked up steam to the point where I think it was like in the 15th or 10th
[941.71] Nurk: position on the first page of r slash videos which is you know that's basically putting
[948.51] Nurk: you know 80 000 impressions on it no matter what and because of that it got picked up by a couple
[955.07] Nurk: tech blogs like and gadget and um uh gizmodo and like those kinds of things and then I think the
[964.83] Nurk: next day after that all of the big facebook groups picked it up so like it was on unilad
[969.39] Nurk: and um other other ones like that and that just kind of helped it spiral um so it was it was weird
[976.27] Nurk: to just kind of like watch all that happen because I wasn't even the one that posted it to
[979.87] Nurk: r slash videos I had put it on multi-copter because I thought that was pretty cool and then
[983.55] Nurk: somebody else just and it just exploded it was weird is out of my control that's the worst part
[990.03] Nurk: right like it's just like I just posted a video one day so so when you saw like getting all these
[994.83] Andy: views was there a bit of panic like oh my god because like I guess you never intended it for
[999.39] Andy: it to blow up like that so did you kind of think like oh man what you know were you were you
[1004.67] Andy: worried about the amount of attention that it was getting and stuff not at first actually
[1009.79] Nurk: because when I shared it with like drone friends and people that are you know kind of around and
[1015.23] Nurk: understand what these things are and what they do like they're just like oh that's badass it's
[1019.47] Nurk: pretty cool it's a fine video go ahead and post it and then as soon as like some of the people
[1024.11] Nurk: that didn't quite know what was going on got attention of it that's when the the hate started
[1027.95] Nurk: and that was after it had already picked up a little bit of steam and so people are like oh
[1031.71] Nurk: the FAA is definitely gonna call you I'm reporting you right now blah blah blah and that's where I
[1035.55] Nurk: got a little bit nervous and there were a couple days where I was very unhappy to have it up you
[1042.83] Nurk: know just because of the the way that some people decided to react negatively to it I think I think
[1049.71] Andy: generally though it the response was pretty positive you know if you compare it against to
[1056.67] Andy: the the bridge dive which completely went out of control I think for yourself um you know it got
[1064.67] Andy: loads of views and in general I didn't I didn't hear any noise about you know people being upset
[1070.35] Andy: in fact uh Bruce Simpson of RC Mob reviews he was like yeah that that's great because it's
[1076.43] Andy: you know it's that's not actually putting anyone in danger really what's it gonna do to a train
[1081.79] Jack: what you're not gonna derail it exactly yeah like try harder you know
[1090.59] Nurk: I think I think the whole tone of that video would have been changed if I hadn't gone
[1094.43] Nurk: near the uh the train mechanic um like the the person sitting on the front driving it
[1099.87] Nurk: and if I hadn't done that I think I think the whole tone would have been different and I don't
[1103.95] Nurk: think that there would have been as much of a reaction at least but you know at the same time
[1108.35] Nurk: it's you know that's just the way it is so awesome um but yeah so like so it I somebody
[1118.59] Nurk: posted that it has 1.6 million views right now on my channel and um it had uh probably close to 10
[1128.99] Nurk: across different Facebook posts like where it got re-uploaded by different organizations and stuff
[1134.59] Andy: so it uh it definitely and one of the questions I said to you offline was yeah I hope that um
[1142.51] Andy: that you got all the revenue from uh everyone that shared it but you mentioned that it didn't
[1148.35] Andy: produce anything because it was a song yeah that you use with copyrights so so whoever's
[1154.51] Andy: owns the copyrights of the song is getting all the in all the dough from it which yeah and what
[1160.83] Andy: I wanted to ask is I mean it's a stupid question maybe but if you knew now would you go back and
[1167.23] Andy: change the track to like a non-copyright or something I'm gonna I'm gonna say no and for
[1173.55] Nurk: two reasons the first is that that song is perfect for it I think some people disagree I love the
[1178.75] Nurk: song for it and the second is um uh because so in the United States you have to be a part 107 operator
[1185.63] Nurk: to have to make to fly drones commercially and in certain lights getting revenue from
[1192.99] Nurk: a video on YouTube can be considered commercial drone operation and so with the attention that
[1198.11] Nurk: this received combined with the possibility of getting a ding for I am not a part 107 drone
[1204.75] Nurk: operator um I think that there could have potentially been some pretty hefty fines
[1210.19] Nurk: on that so I don't so yeah I see what you're saying but at the same time I think just letting
[1216.83] Nurk: it grow for the point of that exposure and leaving it unmonetized probably is a part of
[1223.71] Nurk: what pushed it into the limelight for a bit yeah because because when that video came out you were
[1229.07] Andy: already established anyway so did it uh did it impact you a lot when it came to sort of like your
[1235.47] Andy: subscriber base did your subscribers skyrocket or because of that video or pretty much you know
[1244.83] Nurk: I did not I did not yet have 10,000 subscribers when that video came out today I'm at 34,000
[1252.91] Nurk: that's only two or three months difference so so I think it's fair to say the answer is yes
[1257.71] Jack: he's filming adverts in San Francisco and then he's like you know he's got his hands on the fat
[1267.39] Jack: shark 101s do you know what I mean he's uh he's made it he's like sniffing all that fat shark
[1274.19] Nurk: cocaine fat shark stuff was before the video but uh we I was talking I was actually talking to fat
[1279.63] Nurk: shark in in Reno at the race and the flight happened the day after the race so can you put
[1287.15] Jack: in a good word for Andy and be like he he understands the errors of his ways please
[1294.27] Jack: do you know like do you guys know fat shark is that your thing yeah he upset fat sharks so like
[1302.38] Jack: if you can like message someone really high up and be like I don't know by the way I don't know
[1306.62] Andy: if I upset them it's just that when I first started uh doing like YouTube videos I thought
[1313.18] Andy: I'll treat myself I bought myself a pair of fat sharks and which ones which ones you got you got a

[1324.86] Nurk: the director of marketing on right now yeah yeah I think if I said yes and you'll see apologize

[1349.34] Andy: first started in RCI uh bought a pair of the they were the um the Dominator SD's so before
[1356.62] Andy: before the HD's and basically like so from like watching like flight tests and and everyone that
[1362.46] Andy: were saying ah they're so immersive and this I was using box goggles at that point and then when
[1367.82] Andy: I switched the fat shark I thought wow little tiny posted stamp view compared to a big thing
[1374.86] Andy: and I sort of I gave them a bad review and it's it's taken obviously it not not the SC's man the
[1381.82] Jack: SC's go down in history no not not people still use that they're they're the oh the SD standard
[1392.46] Nurk: the standard definition ones that oh the blue ones you know yeah under the bus you go Andy
[1402.86] Andy: so anyways but basically like you know I I love fat shark now they're my main goggles to the
[1408.54] Andy: point where I started reviewing other goggles and people were accusing me of being a fat shark
[1414.14] Andy: salesperson because all I ever said was that you know uh they just don't compare to fat sharks and
[1420.86] Jack: that's where that came from uh you know here's here's the link if you can if you can pass this

[1575.82] Jack: in the goggles you reviewed what were they called the red things the um the top sky f7 x
[1583.74] Jack: so he's reviewing the top sky f7s right and then a load of people on his youtube channel
[1589.98] Jack: accusing him of working for fat shark so um first of all can you be like
[1595.58] Jack: I've got no idea who Andy RC is
[1607.42] Mr FatShark: yet the secret campaign that we've been running under the table this entire time has has just

[1730.06] Jack: yeah support some of those um broken and they I was going to buy them and fix them and
[1736.14] Jack: have them as my ride along so I emailed um the UK and first of all the Europe repair center
[1743.66] Jack: and I emailed exactly the same thing and I got two different replies I was like plug them in
[1749.1] Jack: got power connect to a module and I get um diagonal like lines are flickering and they
[1756.54] Jack: definitely don't work and the European one was like sounds like you're not on the right channel
[1761.34] Jack: and then the British the British guy who's David who's like went to school with um aunt
[1767.82] Jack: aunt nique cake you know imagine I see he was just like yeah I think I know what's up with them send
[1772.14] Jack: them in man there he goes if you can get them in before Christmas I'll have them to you I was like
[1776.38] Jack: dude I'm in no rush for him so I ended up sending him to him but it was uh it did
[1784.3] Mr FatShark: there's all sorts of wear items that are happening all the time like people got these things out in

[2299.74] Mr FatShark: get more people excited about it and to get um high school and middle school leagues people who

[2313.34] Mr FatShark: to get them into the sport and the way to do that is just make it simpler and these are people who

[2330.14] Mr FatShark: to build a product to cater to those people in the market to those people
[2334.46] Mr FatShark: is just to make it look and feel as simple as possible um the problem though is that in doing
[2339.42] Mr FatShark: so you're going to drive the real enthusiasts and the great people on the tech in the industry

[2374.94] Mr FatShark: a way that opens the sport to new people and also just doesn't drive all the hardcore pilots bonkers

[2384.94] Mr FatShark: plenty of products for them in the future like your hd10s or whatever that's coming down the line

[2403.1] Mr FatShark: for us to continue to be the f1 group we need to make sure that the Mazda group exists too

[2434.06] Jack: a load of arsey experience or you might have a little but you you just want to see whether
[2438.7] Jack: it's right for you and you've got like a bigger budget than 40 quid hubs and you wouldn't mind
[2446.7] Jack: like you know spending that sort of money and having something around the house that is like

[2457.18] Nurk: them with any other quad with a free fly sky receiver so it's like i mean you're none of the

[3007.18] Nurk: but the hero six has a as a much higher wide dynamic range it has many more options in terms
[3013.82] Nurk: of frame rate um i can shoot 4k 30 frames with super view on still which you can't do on this
[3020.78] Nurk: session um so that's really nice to be able to crop in on that if i need to um and uh and yeah
[3027.74] Nurk: so it's i fly the hero six as often as i can um but you know sometimes if i want to choose
[3034.22] Nurk: a lighter quad or something like that or more compact kind of dealio i'll put i'll put the
[3038.62] Nurk: session on there um but for the most part i'm hero six yeah and what made you sidestep the hero
[3048.24] Nurk: five then well so i've been working on starting um a production company actually and the company
[3056.08] Nurk: that i'm working on is basically we're focused around the idea of camera movement and that that
[3063.28] Nurk: could be drones that could be um gimbals it could be rc cars with a forex is gimbal it could be you
[3069.52] Nurk: know a handheld thing it doesn't matter but the goal is to be able to do some cool stuff that
[3073.84] Nurk: nobody's seen before with cameras and so while i was when the gopro came out and i had my session
[3080.32] Nurk: needed to be replaced anyway um due to other damage um i uh i kind of started looking at it
[3086.96] Nurk: and i was like well if i can shoot 1080p at 240 frames per second which if you cut that down
[3094.0] Nurk: or and slow it down you can basically make nine times slow motion with that and you know well
[3099.44] Nurk: that's not necessarily an everyday feature like it's something that is really really
[3103.92] Nurk: visually engaging and it makes for especially when you're doing like chase footage extremely
[3108.56] Nurk: engaging content right like yeah everything is just everything is immediately slowed down
[3113.44] Nurk: and you get these crazy looking bullet time effects where you can kind of really quickly
[3117.84] Nurk: orbit around something and have that thing be frozen it's just it's mind-blowing every time
[3123.04] Nurk: i think uh so i chose the if if my goal is to be doing video stuff mostly then it makes
[3134.48] Nurk: sense for me to invest in video gear and so doing the math over and over and over again
[3139.2] Nurk: i found that i can do um i can do more with the gopro hero 6 than i could with just a hero session

[3869.9] NJ: or ten pilots in the first place that could have saved them an absolute fortune and it just
[3877.66] NJ: amazes me the amount of money they've obviously had to throw at this and then lost quite horrifically
[3882.62] NJ: and then you know they clearly haven't put any money into re i know it's a lot of money but
[3887.5] NJ: they haven't put any money into retooling any of the physical problems with the goggle um so i've
[3892.94] NJ: just sort of gone through the biggest of the issues that they could fix from a software point
[3897.66] NJ: of view uh a firmware point of view rather which is that goes some way i mean there are vast
[3904.06] NJ: improvement over the v1s the v1 since i reviewed them are on my bench and they've stayed on my
[3909.34] NJ: bench and i did take them and give them to a load of people in the club to try out and they all kind
[3913.82] NJ: of unanimously came away saying you know this is pretty terrible and what we've got with the v2
[3919.98] NJ: is really we've taken you know it's a vast improvement from the v1 which is as i mentioned
[3925.34] NJ: to you before it's upgraded it from terrible to just about okay yeah and how do you you know for
[3933.26] NJ: us to remain objective as reviewers how do you then portray that to these companies they
[3938.38] NJ: don't know if they're expecting us to turn around and say it's now fantastic well you know we've
[3943.82] NJ: it doesn't take a lot for you to to spend some time doing your research you know the rnd should
[3948.7] NJ: have been there in the first place to see what's out there and what's working you know anyone with
[3953.34] NJ: with google and you know an hour's worth of research could could come up with many of or
[3959.26] NJ: could have found a lot of the problems that these would have faced before they left you know left
[3964.06] NJ: on the first truck out the production line um so it'd be interesting to see where they go from here

[4062.7] Andy: like pixels you're looking at sort of like a light and reflections that are making up like a
[4068.62] Andy: hologramic is that a word hologramic image so i think there's definitely limitations when it comes
[4073.98] Andy: to um the the quality and as i said i still prefer even when running it through a hd hdmi cable
[4081.9] Andy: the the fat sharp picture even though it's not true 720p hd it looks clearer to me just because
[4089.1] NJ: it's a better quality screen in general yeah it's interesting that they they tried to fix a lot with
[4095.18] NJ: heavy polarization but um yeah there we are it's uh i think they're chasing their tail a little bit

[4730.9] NJ: the end a massive damage across the windshield which is clearly from multiple strikes are probably
[4737.7] NJ: of other other things they were testing on the day or multiple phantoms at different angles um but
[4744.02] NJ: it's i i'm a bit annoyed that they released it where it looks like you know there's one strike
[4748.66] NJ: and then at the end they give you a picture of you know a a windshield that's got you know just
[4755.38] NJ: it's absolutely battered all over it um so i think that was a bit misleading um and the other thing
[4761.54] NJ: to bear in mind i'd again i'd like to see more data on the actual test but the whole point of
[4766.98] NJ: the rockets was to get that up to kind of an aircraft's cruise speed um and it would be nice
[4773.14] NJ: to know what that speed is because i mean if we're talking about an aircraft that's doing you know
[4777.62] NJ: 500 knots or higher that would be only doing that at a cruise altitude of like 35 000 feet
[4784.82] NJ: it wouldn't be doing that at the lower altitudes absolutely not it looked crazy fast like it did
[4790.02] NJ: look it looked yeah it looked it looked way up well over 200 knots which i think would be a much
[4796.26] NJ: more realistic speed to be in collision altitude with something like a phantom but the point that
[4802.1] NJ: i kind of was was trying to get to with these is that it did no more damage than something like
[4809.62] NJ: uh a bird strike is definitely a point of relevance here but if i mean all these aircraft are designed
[4817.54] NJ: to hit you know birds of you know 20 20 kilograms something like that then they're designed to hit
[4824.5] NJ: really and also survive cumulonimbus cloud thunderstorms you know you shouldn't be flying
[4829.94] NJ: in those but if you did get caught in one and you got a huge hailstone uh hailstones hitting
[4834.9] NJ: the windshield you know they're designed to absorb the impact but they won't actually won't
[4838.66] NJ: get like it won't go through and you get a depressurization issue or anything like that
[4843.86] NJ: but um if you add up all the drone accidents and the cost of drones hitting aircraft hitting
[4851.38] NJ: aircraft we've had one sort of minor damage to a military helicopter and we've probably got a bit
[4856.98] NJ: of wasted fuel and time where a few aircraft have had to do go arounds uh abort landings basically
[4864.42] NJ: because of you know reported drones in airspace near short final for aircraft which they have to
[4870.18] NJ: do all the time because of birds anyway because of birds and the only thing i'll say is if you add
[4874.66] NJ: that up if you add that up and you put that against something like the annual cost worldwide
[4881.46] NJ: that a bird strikes and birds call cost general the general uh sorry not general i think general
[4888.42] NJ: no just commercial aviation the cost of commercial aviation is about 1.3 billion
[4895.78] NJ: a year just for dealing with with bird strikes and the bird problem so it's just laughable to
