[0.0] Jack: elementary recovered hello and today is the first of the third 2018 it's a thursday you would have
[9.97] Jack: never have guessed that and apparently we're a family friendly show now so no saying and
[17.41] Jack: as in like so tonight we are joined by our luscious queen hello tony i thought i was meant
[24.61] Tony: to answer them yes that's all her shades shot come on tony show me the way uh we're joined by
[33.41] Jack: what rhymes with way nj hello hello nj and we're also joined by guess whose face is that me
[41.89] Jack: yeah so you're paying the 360 hello i'm handling 360 and this is me can you just hold your hands
[48.45] Jack: up so i can make sure yeah that's it for a minute we thought you can't get snowed in
[56.29] Jack: on an internet show even though he is from up north hello and welcome to let's run out
[62.61] Andy: oh come on that was a bit wouldn't laugh and last but not least before he takes another
[67.33] Jack: mouthful andrew frank hello i am here andrew flatting i need to say bonjour masticating in the
[78.37] Tony: corner okay isn't that when you eat your own kid i am fascinated oh that's what like lions do isn't
[93.33] Tony: it when when they know there is no gonna be no food they eat their own kids and that's called
[98.45] Lee: mastication i don't know is it matricide is that is that what we're talking about
[103.57] Jack: and petricide your father isn't it right what's your mother
[109.81] Jack: we're not getting that we're not going there jack i don't i just yeah like i don't know that was
[114.37] Jack: like you know like unusual words i was i was quite impressed about really pretty big words
[119.65] Lee: for a thursday night this early in the show i know it's absolutely so in jay where have you been
[126.61] Jack: or are you just coming on for decent when decent guests like penis 360 are on yeah i'm very selective
[132.53] NJ: about when i come on yeah you've read the emails yeah um i've been doing quite a lot of flying
[139.73] NJ: despite or in the spite of the weather i should say um i've been quite lucky with the times i've
[145.09] NJ: been able to fly where it's actually been flyable and not too crazy cold so that's been that's been
[151.49] NJ: a good thing um so i've been making lots and lots of flying videos and meanwhile as usual the review
[157.25] NJ: stuff has been stacking up so i've now got to switch over from having fun to delving into
[162.85] NJ: reviewing various bits and pieces that have arrived at nj towers so that's where we are
[167.81] Tony: that where was that um where was your last couple of videos because they was
[174.93] Tony: like that was pretty cool place to fly yeah that was for stalking purposes that was an awesome
[181.65] NJ: spot that was in um that was in fetford um which was a bit of a so the the carmo fpv who i do a lot
[188.37] NJ: of my free stuff is like we go out and try and push each other to do new things and you know
[193.89] NJ: uh get better and blah blah blah we we always we're now trying to make the effort to go to these
[198.93] NJ: more inspiring spots rather than staying in the same places and he lives at cambridge way so i
[205.25] NJ: went over to his and then we went from there at fetford but it was it was kind of i think it's
[208.85] NJ: about an hour from where i am in bedfordshire um but yeah just the the tree i'm not i've no idea
[214.69] NJ: about tree types but it was the very very tall skinny trees with the the kind of the tuft at the
[220.29] NJ: top yes good great poplars that might be exactly what they are but yeah they they were great funds
[227.17] NJ: to fly around definitely definitely not something you want to get stuck in because there's no
[231.41] NJ: climbing those but um and the very bushy indeedy yeah they would have made great uh quad catching
[237.97] NJ: material uh so yeah that was that was a good one so yeah all good zero is saying i think painless
[246.69] Andy: was the first ever channel i subscribed to probably me as well actually painless and flight test
[253.49] Jack: yeah i yeah he was he was definitely uh he was definitely one of my first ones because i remember
[260.77] Jack: like religiously watching his stuff being like i don't understand how things work and yeah
[265.57] Jack: dreaming why why is telemetry so hard to understand yeah for me it was it was all of
[273.17] Andy: the pixhork stuff uh and the uh what what was it before pixhork multi-wee yeah oh that's yeah
[281.09] Andy: multi-wee um i'd religiously sit there watching all of that stuff and i i just couldn't remember
[289.01] Andy: any of it now because i do still do stuff lee with um like pixhork and stuff yeah we did the
[295.97] Lee: pixhork 2.1 series uh about two months ago and then we're going to do another i'd like to do
[303.25] Lee: another series loads of people have asked me to put a pixhork a modern pixhork in a big
[307.73] Lee: whopping multi-rotor now i don't make big multi-rotors very often but i asked in dissemble what
[313.17] Lee: people want to see and it was a very very popular choice so i'm going to do that again so the the
[319.57] Lee: new pixhork is so much more impressive but it's not a clone so it's 300 quid so it's not something
[325.49] Lee: you know it's not something you just buy on a whim you know you have to save your pennies and
[329.73] Andy: give up fags for a week to buy that for the american listeners we should perhaps
[336.61] Andy: just remind cigarettes when we say fags we mean tony
[344.93] Tony: you can tell me and um jack have had a rift this week what
[349.81] Jack: an unresolved row let's get to the bottom of this no i can't it's like
[360.05] Jack: you carry on mate the dig a hole yeah keep going i don't even know what happens he's done well he's
[367.65] Jack: actually paid the editor which is amazing yeah my money you know i know well it wouldn't have been
[375.09] Jack: if you learned to use a correct email address well i had the correct email address talk talk
[381.57] Frank: shut down i think you two are both just uh having trouble with the weather i think it's
[387.17] Frank: just yeah both suffering from the terrible terrible weather we're having why is it not
[392.21] Frank: working it yeah like an uninsulated little glass box yeah i uh i had ice on the inside
[401.57] Jack: did we lose someone no no okay it's going mad we've got we've got drone racer 101 in the
[410.61] Andy: chats another um youtube channel that does free news and stuff yeah i i have to take the blame
[416.37] Frank: for the uh for the bad weather unfortunately because uh i've been putting off buying new
[421.09] Frank: batteries for months uh i was down to my last giant special for us i mean putting it off because
[427.09] Frank: it's going to be terrible said not to talk about them and then uh then you know it was we had a
[434.21] Frank: couple of good weekends i was going out seeing people were like yeah i really need to get some
[438.69] Frank: new batteries so i ordered some so they turned up turned up yesterday and i was like you just
[444.37] Frank: showed the stream your address oh it's my works address anyway so that's fine oh yeah that's fine
[452.93] Frank: so uh yeah it's all my fault if if i hadn't done that we'd still be having nice flying weather
[458.77] NJ: i think it's nj's hands worn off yeah it's looking like a little paler than i like to be
[465.09] Tony: this time of year unfortunately what can you do hey me look at my bons it's shining off my light
[471.89] Jack: i can't believe i wonder how old brad is is now is that the chap that said i was fat
[477.73] Andy: it's not bad
[481.17] Tony: he thought you were scrawny well he can talk he's a scrawny little wiper
[486.21] Tony: i wish i was just short i wish i was scrawny i'll tell you i love brad as he's
[492.29] Tony: brad as he's actually scrawnier than me which is quite hard to be scrawny how's the uh how's the
[498.93] Andy: fasting going tony that's what you were doing the last time we spoke you're doing some four-day
[503.73] Jack: i call it i call it his period because like he is just pure rage at me like anything i said
[510.37] Jack: he said he hung up the phone on me right and i'm supposed to be the whiny millennial
[515.09] Jack: he's generation x over there and um and then he would proceed to go into the chat and just say
[523.73] Tony: f ldi oh it's a little bit moody a little bit but i'm doing a fasting
[533.97] Tony: i'm gonna do it till the end of uh when we are it's march now isn't it yeah in the march i'm
[541.57] Tony: gonna do it it's uh just the intermittent fasting 20 hours not eating four hours eating and drinking
[549.33] Tony: that's how i'm going well save me from it i can't i'm doing it shall we talk about some drones
[554.85] Frank: no that'll be on a drone show about a drone event because yes tickets are live you can go and
[563.57] Frank: actually go to mini airshow.co.uk and you can buy tickets to go to mini airshow so you know
[570.61] Jack: that is now a thing link in the chat link in the description yep i will post it the link
[576.53] Jack: maybe on let's drone out dot com dom if you're listening
[582.13] Jack: took me a while to remember how the uh the website works i've been slacking so hard i'm not used to
[587.97] Jack: like putting up uh putting up things i don't what do you what do you want to do do you want to do
[593.25] Jack: some history house cleaning of like where we all are or should we just start asking painless some
[598.85] Tony: stuff let's ask painless stuff he's our special guest and he's showing his face and not just his
[606.13] Jack: hands there's a new tundra out how for you now am i allowed to say probably not do you want me to
[617.17] Tony: write down the time yes how many minutes in and we can get out of the word was that was
[623.81] Lee: that aimed at me jack yeah of course uh there's well there's there's are you talking about the
[630.85] Jack: new connectors on the wings yeah that's what it is isn't it really that's that's it really isn't
[635.25] Jack: it let's be honest i'm surprised you didn't do a new decals for it or something you know don't
[641.65] Lee: start with your decals we all know in the real country it's decals don't go or stewart on it
[648.21] Jack: oh i mean oh sorry decoupage i'm so glad to have somebody on my side
[655.17] Andy: from this side of the the north it's it's fantastic so how do you say it andy decals
[661.65] Tony: good lad decals what are they i say decals and i'm down south but
[669.97] NJ: decals are some small cake aren't they from
[673.97] Tony: boulevons that's what you put on the trees isn't it christmas decoration
[680.21] UNKNOWN: um
[682.21] Lee: verjazzled um
[691.41] Lee: has nobody done that yet tucher on us we need to do that
[694.05] Lee: hello welcome to open tea eggs verjazzle oh well it's probably as nice as the special
[701.33] Jack: edition mr steel that they did that was terrible what was wrong with it what was special edition
[707.49] Jack: mr steel tundra no no tell us all about it how bad was it and why is it bad well it's not bad
[717.89] Lee: it's expensive for what it is it's the it's a gray color no no no come on don't don't say that it's
[726.05] Jack: it's undercoat they've forgotten to finish the painting it is isn't it it's under it's
[731.33] Lee: institutional undercoat yeah um and then they put black switches on it the switches are upgraded
[737.89] Lee: slightly which are nice but i've never had a problem with the old ones um and then they've
[742.21] Lee: got the n9 gimbals on it they've got slightly different fonts so you've got his mustache above
[747.25] Lee: the display and it's like an extra 70 80 for the privilege wow it it's i got one because i thought
[755.73] Lee: quite excited interested to see uh see what they've done to this but when i got it it was kind of
[760.53] Lee: actually you know what i think i just get the normal one and pay the extra 50 quid to have
[765.01] Lee: someone plastic coat mine and have a one of one but there's only 500 made so i don't know whether
[770.53] Lee: people are buying them to think they'll you know sell them on ebay or something it's an interesting
[774.69] Lee: idea but i'd like them to do something apart from just put different stickers on the front
[780.05] Lee: and upgrade the switches it just seems like a lot of money for those little bits yeah it does yeah
[786.61] NJ: see i think this is the school that i'm from what you do is you get you get your paint out and
[793.25] Jack: do it yourself yeah switches and then you accidentally order two different sticks
[800.69] NJ: this is nj's the race gimbal that's the thing i hate is the fact that they well i think they've
[806.45] NJ: now got a black uh race gimbal because so many people complained about the red but you should
[812.21] NJ: we're hobbyists this is where we're from you you modify and you paint and you hack stuff up
[816.53] Tony: and you do it yourself drive all the way to bright and then get jack to do it for you
[822.85] Jack: and then you also give your stuff to tony to anodize it when you don't like the red
[827.57] Jack: the red bit of the tyrannis yeah you know i'm amazed at i'm amazed more people haven't done
[833.81] Lee: those little silicon uh sleeves that go over the um over the switches that more people don't sell
[839.41] Lee: those i was looking for those quite few switches yes really really small condom yeah um do you know
[847.25] Andy: what that is or maybe you recognize that or as jack jack calls it normal size yeah
[854.69] Jack: come on come on there you go drone 101 shots fire you're starting on me i thought you were on the
[862.05] Andy: same side yeah knows i love him it was too easy of an opportunity i didn't want wasn't it do you
[868.45] NJ: know what that is though that stuff that's sort of known that bright yellow yeah filicone that is
[874.69] NJ: that's old uh fuel tubing oh right yep works perfectly i used to use it quite a lot uh when
[882.85] Frank: i still used antenna tubes um to like you could squeeze it through holes in frames and then stick
[890.13] Frank: antenna tubes inside the fuel tube and it was all the right size to kind of work some people put
[896.37] Tony: inner tube tubes from bikes over their batteries ah just to help protect them in crashes
[905.41] Lee: interesting ideas i must admit i'm gonna have to play with that idea nj that's a great idea because
[910.05] Lee: the only thing i've got i've got a length of that fuel tube and the only thing i use it for is making
[914.53] Lee: the uh what's those little um rubber circles that go over the when you when you're putting an RC
[919.89] Lee: plane together what they called someone in the chat will tell me um what's the linkages to hold
[927.49] Jack: there's a name for him isn't i ask andrew newton he'll know someone he's forever doing that
[934.93] Lee: it someone will come up with it in a minute anyway no not my gig fbv good idea with grommet
[940.93] Lee: there's an actual name for it though the little bit that stops it coming undone and i just cut
[945.81] Lee: like two millimeters off i've had this piece of fuel tubing for about three years
[951.57] Lee: quickly oh it'll come back to me it's not a cleat is it that's something else anyway yeah i think i
[957.33] Andy: know what you mean yeah i know what you mean i just don't know i always get like control horn and
[962.45] Andy: linkage and although i always mix them up and call them the wrong thing all the time are you wearing a
[967.49] Jack: um circuit diagram scarf painless this actually does have circuits on it yeah yeah that's awesome
[975.97] Jack: quick change layer absolutely that's one for the editor
[982.61] Jack: that one was for you briders
[987.65] Tony: how many days till the mini air show um quickly can we 70 odds uh i think hold on is everyone here
[997.81] Tony: going nj yes i shall be there painless oh yes andy rc yeah frank i'm on the fence
[1010.77] Andy: he's sitting on the fence running everything it's going to be a good good time we're gonna
[1016.05] Tony: is everyone like camping and staying the night and or we just doing one day
[1022.21] Frank: so there's camping friday night camping saturday night saturday night saturday night is going to
[1026.93] Frank: be a busy one with uh we've got phil uh parslow kermit um we've got steve gladding uh both working
[1037.89] Frank: together on a pub quiz it's going to have fancy things going on that's there's a bit beyond me
[1043.65] Frank: um there's going to be uh the kqrc guys are going to bring all their led strings and everything for
[1051.89] Frank: the the track so that's going to stay up you know nice and late and then there's uh once it's
[1058.13] Frank: definitely uh past curfew for the for the big stuff then there's going to be a gab with uh his crazy
[1067.81] Frank: tiny woop gauntlet thing that we're going to fill one of the marquees with it might be a problem
[1073.73] Jack: there he uh he lost his laptop from walking out to a door to his van it's fine so he's like had
[1081.49] Frank: to roll back on the code yeah there's going to be plenty of things going on this saturday night
[1092.05] Frank: um we're going to have a couple of uh food fans catering vans uh we're going to have a bar
[1100.13] Frank: it's going to be fun oh god that means i might be able to fly sunday
[1103.73] Frank: that's it well the team racing is going to go over the both days um and that's going to be run
[1111.89] Frank: by kqrc um so it's going to be teams of four doing the same relay like we've done before
[1118.69] Frank: and we're also going to have freestyle so we're going to have the qualifiers for the freestyle
[1124.77] Frank: while we're kind of registering everyone and while everyone's turning up on saturday morning
[1128.61] Frank: uh then there's going to be the the finals where we pick uh the sort of top pilots to to do a
[1135.81] Frank: uh the kind of uh uh the freestyles uh in the afternoon on the saturday we've got
[1143.33] Frank: the university of sausampton coming along and bringing them massive two-engined and i mean
[1148.13] Frank: engine not motor um 3d printed uh long distance crazy thing um there's gonna be
[1158.29] Frank: there's gonna be the x-class yep uh with fossil stuff uh we're gonna have uh yeah loads of things
[1165.81] Frank: going on um so yeah it's gonna be a pretty busy weekend that's nice it's gonna be good many saucy
[1174.37] Jack: in the chat what's up and your number one friend falling with style tony's come back from digging
[1183.17] Jack: the car out apparently um there's is there any way to do a live let's drone out you know maybe
[1191.25] Jack: we could all get together and write some content for the show there is very good 4g i can can i can
[1198.61] Frank: vouch for that okay all right as you go as you go into the airfield on the right hand side
[1205.49] Frank: there's a big water tower and that is a massive underneath it is a massive o2 kind of
[1213.25] Frank: center of lots of internet it's basically uh there's a fiber sticking out and just blasting
[1220.13] Tony: the air with internet so there is internet there i want to know will andy rc and nj bring their
[1227.65] Jack: guitars and sing no andy rc's on drums he gets a bit shy when up against uh nj on guitar
[1237.33] Andy: yeah as long as we can film a ldo band i can't compete with uh nj i i shan't i i doubt i should
[1245.25] NJ: be bringing anything uh musical with me but i shall bring um the laptop and an assortment
[1252.53] NJ: of quads and i shall certainly i was talking with the idea of maybe doing a small
[1257.73] NJ: chat on the pit tuning or even doing some pit tuning for people that are struggling
[1261.81] NJ: that'd be good that'd be good yeah there's a few idea as we can do i think
[1267.65] Andy: are you playing with a tech deck andy no i'm building a quad i'm doing what i'm doing i'm
[1273.09] Tony: doing your trick yeah that's what i don't even care and just builds a quad i'm actually making
[1279.89] Andy: a video part of this will be on the on maybe tomorrow's video yeah so the the link for the
[1285.73] Frank: mini air show just seen in the chat uh super flip was asking it's mini air show dot code at uk
[1293.41] Frank: um the date says johnny bantam was asking may the 12th and 13th ldo road show in the evening if
[1301.49] Jack: you're camping over on the friday night as well so johnny b can't do an ldo road show i'll be
[1307.33] Tony: trapped with tony in a small confinement you're gonna be trapped with tony when we go away in
[1313.49] Jack: april oh god i'm gonna hopefully oh no that's fine you're off your period by then
[1320.45] Jack: painless you've had a few questions do you do painless full-time we've had that a lot in the chat
[1327.49] Lee: full-time doing what this yeah no um unfortunately not there's just not enough hours in the day for
[1335.65] Lee: all the other stuff i'm doing so no this is still very much um kind of a fun thing for me i know
[1340.69] Lee: people like joshua and stuff have gone full-time but it's it's for me it's about 50 60 of the time
[1347.25] Lee: i spend doing stuff but there's other things i do as well now i don't know why but my video has
[1352.77] Tony: kind of stopped let me just see if i can restart it where's your lovely face gone it's gone it's
[1360.45] Jack: those deep brown eyes that we've had actually yeah i see painless quota now it's just going
[1367.09] Jack: to be hands i don't know it gets to the half half hour mark and i'm like holy we better ask
[1372.93] Jack: painless some stuff and uh and then his camera goes out yeah really weird stuff you can still
[1379.17] Lee: hear me though yeah yeah okay all right something weird going on the camera i won't restart which
[1384.69] Lee: is just annoying because i've just got a build that i'm in the middle of doing that was going
[1388.45] Lee: to show andy but uh we'll have to do the chat stuff instead can't you just describe it
[1395.73] Lee: it's the new armot and chameleon ti frame um oh nice oh now you're just teasing now we want
[1405.33] Jack: aisles of mol fbv says painless having tech issues irony
[1413.49] Lee: very true carry on yeah don't know what's going on the camera sod it anyway um so the the only
[1421.33] Lee: thing one of the things actually for the people who are in the comments and for you guys one of
[1426.29] Lee: the things that i was doing over christmas um i had a chat with a guy out in the states
[1431.17] Lee: and he regularly presents to the people who are part of his radio control club and he has this
[1436.85] Lee: like little um he calls it a journey so it sounds very much like you know there's not a 90s band
[1445.97] Lee: 80s fan journey yeah i'm not a fan of word journey because it's used a lot on strictly
[1451.33] Lee: come dancing but the whole idea is that he talks to pilots who are new who come in and join the
[1457.25] Lee: club who don't really understand the basics yet and helps them figure out how to get into the hobby
[1462.93] Lee: understands the three letter acronyms how to do basic stuff you know things like nj you were
[1467.33] Lee: talking about things like tuning and then and kind of talking about the whole experience you know
[1471.89] Lee: what radio do you buy what model how do you get what do you do to make it fly better and
[1476.69] Lee: we were talking about this stuff and i thought you know what i think i think i've kind of missed a
[1481.57] Lee: trick because i've got lots and lots and lots of videos i mean something's stupid now like about
[1486.21] Lee: 700 videos on the channel and each of them talk about a specific technology um but if you're a
[1492.77] Lee: new pilot you have to know the answer to find the video where i explain how to do it so for example
[1500.53] Lee: a common question for a new starter might be how do i make make my model easier to fly right and
[1507.65] Lee: part of the answer might be RC rates part of it might be expo part of it might be dual rates part
[1513.33] Lee: of it might be things like throttle curves but unless you know that that's what you're after
[1517.89] Lee: you won't find my video on it so the idea was is to create a brand new series which is the questions
[1525.65] Lee: that pilots ask on a regular basis so things like how can i fly farther with FPV you know what i'm
[1533.33] Lee: illegally allowed to do those kind of things and the name of the video is the question so if you
[1540.05] Lee: go on to google and you search for you know how do i make my quadcopter easier to fly that would be
[1545.09] Lee: the name of the video so you'd find the content and then you'd know that the answer is dual rates
[1549.73] Lee: expo throttle curves yada yada so it might be linking back to existing stuff and one of the
[1555.97] Lee: things i'm the first video is going up i think tomorrow asking people for ideas but i'm kind of
[1562.37] Lee: interested with the people on here tonight to kind of get some feedback for the kind of questions that
[1566.77] Lee: we all get asked on a regular basis for um for those kind of same questions i'll give you another
[1573.01] Lee: one my mate is a he he always every time he's not allowed to say that that means doing
[1582.77] Lee: he's he's he's a he's a naughty man and what he does is when he buys a plane and he breaks the
[1588.53] Lee: prop what he wants to do he immediately tries to buy a prop that either has more pitch or is more
[1594.45] Lee: diameter because he wants to fly faster and every time he talks to me about i've had the same
[1599.65] Lee: conversation with him about half a dozen times now so you can't do that mate because there's
[1603.65] Lee: an implication near blah blah blah and it'll pull more ramps and and he just he doesn't get it
[1608.61] Lee: so i'm after ideas from people if you can kind of let me know what the beginner questions are
[1617.41] Lee: um then i'd like to kind of create the videos in this series that not only new pilots but
[1624.05] Lee: more experienced pilots might get stuck with so that when you search for the question you'll find
[1629.25] Jack: the video does that make sense yeah it's a great idea you might you might even actually get a tony
[1634.69] Jack: sort of take on that make quad fly good and so we're not talking about the passerby that asks
[1643.49] Andy: the usual question how far does it go how much high does it go we're talking we're talking about
[1649.73] Andy: uh you know more like okay i'm interested i want i actually have bought a copter what those kind
[1656.53] Lee: of questions yeah exactly it's it's the stuff that we probably all get on a regular basis on
[1663.73] Lee: videos and other bits and pieces as well um and it's it is things like what model should i buy
[1670.69] Lee: um how do i make it easier to fly can i you know what's the best motor for this particular size
[1676.93] Lee: model it's kind of those things that i end up answering on a lot and i'm referencing videos
[1683.17] Lee: and content that and a lot of the times it's stuff that's already on youtube either i've done
[1687.25] Lee: it or nj's done it or uh joshua's done it or any of you know any any of us that do our stuff on
[1693.25] Lee: youtube but because the the person doesn't know they what they're looking for they don't know
[1699.89] Lee: that they're searching for dual rates they're just they're just looking for how i make it easier to
[1703.81] NJ: fly do you know what that's really interesting thing because there's just this is one of my
[1710.29] NJ: videos in particular that that made me think of what you were saying which was the video i put up
[1716.37] NJ: in that uh tutorial series i did which and the title of it was how to fly smoother acro
[1723.57] NJ: and with that title and it then went on to talk about uh stick inputs and not over over correcting
[1730.93] NJ: and all the the various other things that encompass that but it was kind of the question as the title
[1737.65] NJ: if you like and i think that that is actually one of my larger um most watched videos so i think
[1745.25] NJ: there's definitely something in that that idea of uh of doing that exact thing sort of hunting out
[1750.69] Jack: the the question you you have to learn a lot of vocabulary and if you're totally new and never
[1758.45] Jack: flown planes before and stuff like that you will never you know like i remember my friend being
[1763.89] Jack: like what the hell is telemetry and um embarrassingly enough as well like for me was
[1770.69] Jack: i never knew how to like flip a quad i can't believe i'm telling this story tony's gonna rip
[1776.21] Jack: and if you google how do i flip a quad no one tells you like keep back on the stick because
[1781.41] Jack: when you first start you could buy you can buy the really cheap drones that have a button to flip
[1788.05] Jack: or you've got the horizon mode where you briefly flick it over to the side and the cord will flip
[1795.01] Jack: quickly but on acro mode you don't realize that you've got to keep you might not realize you've
[1800.05] Jack: got to keep holding it and complete that full flip do you understand there's like three different
[1806.21] Jack: ways to flip a quad so i remember like first learning like looking to be like you know how
[1813.17] Jack: do i flip a quad and there is no one's got a tutorial on it whatsoever which is quite weird
[1819.65] Lee: jack that's a really really great example because we all just do it because we all start
[1824.61] Lee: finding an angle and we get bored of that then we try horizon and then suddenly we do it in
[1828.53] Lee: rate mode when we've got the skills and then you never do anything else um and and you just assume
[1834.13] Lee: that everyone else has kind of gone through the same process and i think the danger is if
[1839.09] Lee: i mean we've all done the hobby for a long time you know i've done the hobby for longer than i
[1842.93] Lee: care to to admit to um and sometimes it's hard to think back to the the questions that we had
[1850.13] Lee: when we were starting out when we used to get stuck but also the technology has moved on so
[1855.49] Lee: much now is if i look back now at my nazi 32 videos um it's hilarious because i'm talking
[1862.05] Lee: about things like minimum osd for on-screen displays you know and now and now if someone's
[1867.17] Lee: using a minimum osd on the quadcopter you know you think it's quite quaint but but but back then
[1873.97] Lee: that was that was red hot stuff in fact you know the build i'm just doing now it's a cl racing f4s
[1879.33] Lee: you know it's got an integrated power distribution board on-screen display you just put all the wires
[1884.53] Lee: onto one board and it's a piece of cake there's no extra messing about with ftdi adapters or all
[1890.53] Lee: that shenanigans um so so it's actually got a lot easier to build these things but wouldn't
[1896.93] Lee: but a lot of people are not getting the basics of all the stuff outside of that to help them
[1902.13] Lee: actually get the most out of the hobby so it's interesting feba i'm pleased that you guys think
[1908.69] Lee: there's there's there's room for it because the more time i've thought about it the more i just
[1914.61] Lee: think once the series gets going i think we'll have lots more people chipping in um but it's
[1919.89] Lee: just for all those guys and girls out there that aren't part of an rc club or don't have someone
[1924.93] Lee: like us about you know because i'm sure you know for those people out there who are computer
[1930.13] Lee: literate you become like the the it support for your family right and for us who are rc literate
[1938.21] Lee: that sounds bad anyway radio control literate any that sorry any that um then then we become
[1945.57] Lee: the support for all of our mates as well i mean because i'm sure we all get that thing where you
[1949.49] Lee: know your mate rings you up and you have a chat for five minutes and then he gets around to the
[1953.25] Lee: question oh while i've got here yeah um i've i was trying to do this so much honestly the other day
[1958.37] Lee: and now it won't do this and you go right okay mate brilliant or you can't you can't go around
[1964.37] Lee: to their house and have a cup of coffee without them at some point going oh while you're here
[1969.41] Lee: and dragging something out of the shed and going i was trying to fly this the other day and i was
[1973.41] Lee: uh i had this problem with it can you have a look so it but for those people who haven't got us around
[1978.61] NJ: it's kind of where where do you go to yeah it's funny you're saying about the uh sorry andy the um
[1985.97] NJ: how fast things are moving there's still a couple of videos which i'm so close to deleting now
[1991.97] NJ: for instance there was one i had which was uh on uh the setup on on base flight but it was back
[1999.65] NJ: when base flight was actually loaded on or the GUI was was clean flight so you used to have to
[2005.41] NJ: run base flight but through the clean flight uh user interface if you remember that and the
[2011.09] NJ: amount of comments i get of people saying um that's clean flight mate and then you're like no
[2016.05] NJ: if you look back to when this video was published this is what this is how it was done back then
[2020.77] NJ: you put beta flight onto clean flight to use it and and then you just give up but i mean you know
[2026.05] NJ: just just firmware updates can ruin a guide that you've done um within a matter of months so yeah
[2032.53] NJ: the speed things are moving at there is much of a it almost and a good it almost becomes useless
[2039.17] Andy: in a way i've got some really old videos and someone commented on one a couple of days ago saying
[2044.61] Andy: why you why are you using beta flight version 2 point whatever and i'm like it's from 2015 that's
[2051.33] Andy: a bit look at the date of the video but they're at the right in a way because some of those some
[2056.53] Andy: of those videos become obsolete but they're still out there so you know they kind of confuse people
[2061.49] Tony: yeah i still like i still like um 317 on beta flight i've flashed that to quads and it i prefer
[2069.01] Andy: it to what it is now yeah i've i'm only just finding worth it with with with the new tech
[2076.29] Andy: i'm only just finding now that like 3.2 is like certain things doesn't doesn't work unless you're
[2082.61] Andy: on 3.2 so in certain cases like a new product turns up you have to you know but um yeah there's
[2090.45] Andy: if you're happy with how your model flies then very often i'm getting fed up with all the new
[2095.65] Tony: tech i'm going old school my me and nj i've had a chat i'm going back to old i'm going back i've
[2102.37] Tony: just i'm just no no don't lie you bought another this is its last chance another race flight board
[2111.73] Jack: this is last chance i've got in cheek or i don't trust you that's why i'm slightly angry at you
[2117.33] Jack: you're like i get it kiss is really good i had a good fly of um uh guys it's you know it's the way
[2127.17] Jack: but no you buy another one another tumour one of mine flies fine one of them didn't um
[2135.41] Andy: can we talk about why you're why you're calling race fly to tumour
[2139.33] Andy: yeah
[2141.33] Tony: i've got pictures of him holding uh yeah loves race like we had president on and he absolutely
[2148.29] Tony: loved it it was i'm just getting fed up with soft mount in everything like he's just in your personal
[2157.01] Tony: life or i haven't done that for a long long time but let's not let's not get just getting fed up
[2166.69] Tony: with soft mountain flight controllers soft mountain frigging motors and that i remember
[2171.65] Tony: the days we're sticking on dodo boarding and it flew just as just the same i flew
[2178.21] Tony: i don't know board the other day and it was just i think i think it sort of comes down to this
[2184.29] NJ: like i've spent i spent a good year with kiss i spent a good year with race flight and then the
[2188.53] NJ: rest of my years have always been in and around beta flight and i i think it just comes yeah beta
[2195.89] NJ: potato um it just comes down to this that the base flight just has a huge tuning the envelope
[2203.49] NJ: that's that's the bit that matters you can put most stuff on base flight and if you go with a
[2208.37] NJ: sensible gyro choice like the imu um six thousand which is a very you know brilliant handling noise
[2215.25] NJ: rejection if you go and that comes on a lot of f3s and even a lot of f4s that've got the process
[2220.29] NJ: ahead one but the headroom but they're still using the imu six thousand you're you're very
[2225.57] NJ: likely to have a great time it works great even hard mounted that's a very very capable gyro um
[2231.33] NJ: so i think beta flight with that if you're just starting out um i'm not obviously talking
[2236.21] NJ: specifically to you tony but i'm saying generally for people i'd say though those two things if you
[2241.65] NJ: put those in your on your radar you're gonna have a much easier time even on stock settings race
[2248.05] NJ: flight kiss especially i think has the smallest tuning envelope like that's and especially when
[2252.77] NJ: you start moving numbers around on kiss you see immediate results like with base flight you can
[2257.97] NJ: move much larger chunks of numbers to to see incremental changes so as i said wider envelope
[2264.29] NJ: and it's it's generally a bit more user friendly and beginner friendly float rather than integer
[2271.73] Tony: i'm just i'm just fed up with all just a soft mount and everything and yeah so that's why you
[2277.09] Tony: bought another race flight board i bought it because it's simple to set up it's easy i love
[2284.21] Tony: the whole race flight set up have you tried following a painless guide being able to use
[2289.49] Jack: addict properly and spell it properly i fall under that bus as well tony i'm dyslexic
[2297.01] Tony: that's that's the thing for me is that is the dyslexia what it's a race
[2301.81] Tony: like just push this up here and then i go to my brain goes oh i can do that it's a miracle
[2307.25] NJ: your toes yeah let's just go back to the open pilot days open pilot had a great deal but nothing
[2313.89] Lee: else was very good about it unfortunately i loved open pilot the best thing about that was the setup
[2318.45] Lee: wizard and it meant even somebody that never set up a quad before it would make sure that
[2322.77] Lee: you didn't have things like your props on and you didn't do something dumb it would walk you
[2326.69] Lee: through the hole it was amazing and i've talked to dominica i've talked to other people about
[2331.73] Lee: having the wizard back in the standard you know inav uh beta clean fly interface and it's just
[2337.57] Lee: it's not a priority but it does mean that the barrier for entry is a little bit high for those
[2342.53] Jack: you know people who have never played before yeah they leave it they leave it like that to
[2347.09] Jack: keep the noobs out you've got you've got to earn your stripes before yeah that's it i'm still
[2353.81] Lee: into something that would tear your face off if you get it wrong it just takes your hand
[2359.49] Lee: yeah that's it oh your chin i've had a couple of helicopters that nearly did that no that's that
[2365.97] Jack: in fairness it was an idiot that did that to your chin not programming do you remember the eco eight
[2373.49] NJ: do you remember that one the ichorous eco eight electric helicopter no i i had i had a lined
[2380.85] Lee: well i've still got a lot of 450s and 500s and um i still got the scars all up my left arm for
[2387.09] Lee: back in the days when it was on radios um i act the the radio actually i put it vertically as i
[2395.17] Lee: was as i was carrying the the heli to the middle of the field and the radio fell over and the
[2401.09] Lee: throttle stick popped up so this thing thought hey brilliant we're going flying and i was holding it
[2407.65] Lee: what so rather than just like lob it in the air and running the opposite direction
[2411.89] Lee: like like a complete you have to beat that i decided what i'm gonna do and i'll just hold
[2417.01] Lee: on to it and it turns out the distance of a 450 quads prop from the hand to the just inside of
[2424.77] Lee: your elbow is exactly the same distance i know that now well actually it's about half an inch
[2431.65] Lee: longer than that distance and i know that from bitter experience but uh but i mean that's the
[2436.93] Lee: cool thing these days we have fail saves we have memory matching we have all that gubbins now
[2441.89] Lee: and that catches people out i mean i i still have loads of questions from people on the kk boards
[2446.93] Lee: believe it or not wow yeah loads people still use the kk boards and i have loads of people who get
[2452.29] Lee: stuck because they don't realize they have to arm the flight controller yeah i built i built my
[2458.85] Lee: quad and the motors won't turn if you aren't there what what's that mean and you kind of go
[2467.33] Lee: and again that's when we when i do my build videos and things like that i don't talk about the fact
[2471.49] Lee: you have to arm the thing i just i just show you you know how you set the switch up i don't explain
[2477.41] Andy: why you have to do it there you go that's another question why do i have to arm yeah
[2483.49] NJ: yeah it's funny that that thing about the the helicopters because i i've still got my t-rex
[2490.53] NJ: 700 nitro and my 600 micardo uh it's a 550 stretch micardo uh which is a success
[2500.21] NJ: and the one thing i do remember the difference between the two especially when you're carrying
[2504.93] NJ: them is despite the 700 nitro being the real powerhouse i was far less scared of that because
[2510.77] NJ: it had a clutch and if it accidentally revved up you know most of these engines won't develop
[2515.49] NJ: any torque until they're really screaming and if they've got a clutch you can hold it you might
[2519.73] NJ: burn the clutch out but it's not going to kill you whereas the electric helicopters the torque
[2524.05] NJ: is instant and if that will spin doesn't matter what you're doing it will spin uh them how strong
[2529.89] Andy: you are so yeah i think i think that's why i love the hobby these days because it's so much safer
[2538.13] Andy: than it used to be with the those huge halleys literally can take people's heads off and have
[2542.45] Andy: done and uh the nitro planes as well you know um used to kill people and and now we're talking
[2548.69] Andy: about you know cuts up the arms so we should get jack one of them for christmas oh one for it
[2555.01] Tony: one for anything what chops his head off
[2560.13] Andy: anyways seen as we're all talking about safety and stuff
[2563.89] Andy: and we haven't talked about the the proposed regulations have we
[2567.65] Tony: why don't muds talk about them why not oh were we were we not supposed to talk about
[2576.69] Tony: we're in denial yeah in that big river
[2582.53] NJ: frank what were you saying because i know in our own sort of chat group we did sort of
[2587.17] NJ: briefly bring it about for discussion and then you kind of swiped it away as
[2591.97] Frank: into dismissal i really don't think it's anything to worry about personally um because it's basically
[2600.21] Frank: oh look if you have anything that flies itself then you have a load if you if it's a ready to
[2606.93] Frank: fly thing then you need to worry about loads of new regulations if it's something you've built
[2612.45] Frank: yourself if it's under 250 grams go for it whatever as long as it's not near a crowd in which case
[2620.53] Frank: you know but basically carry on as you were if it's more than 250 grams then you need to be
[2628.93] Frank: registered which probably means being a member of fpv uk or bmfa which most of us are anyway
[2636.61] Frank: and it seems like a pretty low bar to get into so if you've if you're building yourself
[2644.37] Frank: go for it if you're buying ready to flies it's not going to be you that's worrying about stuff
[2650.05] Frank: it's going to be the manufacturer why when you say ready to fly when you say ready to fly i mean
[2656.45] Tony: gps stuff and yeah exactly okay matt plins has just gone under anyway so i can't tell you how
[2664.29] NJ: sad i am about that i know matt plins are stoned through from here and i'm in there all the time
[2668.61] NJ: for my competitors and resistors and bits yeah but there's less phantoms on the street let's face it
[2674.05] NJ: oh no but this just has got a little place in my heart i'm gonna struggle with that one more
[2680.21] Tony: i don't mind about that going on hello bsm web in the chat you ain't got to worry about the
[2685.25] Tony: regulations there for europe and hopefully we won't have to soon because we'll be out of there
[2690.53] Andy: well but it doesn't work like that i don't think it's the uvn we're out of not the uh yeah we
[2696.29] Frank: haven't actually left europe just handstock or we also did a way thing but these particular
[2704.37] Frank: regulations we pretty much wrote this draft so don't expect a massively different set of
[2713.89] Frank: regulations coming into force in the uk um the kind of backstory of it is is that a year or maybe
[2722.21] Frank: even two years ago there was a draft by sort of a small group of people in the arza and everyone
[2730.13] Frank: kind of looks at and went that's that's stupid go back try again they went who who knows about
[2735.09] Frank: these things and kind of france and the uk kind of put their hands up and said we we know something
[2740.93] Frank: about drones we actually like dealt with these things before maybe you should ask us you know
[2746.45] Frank: okay uh and so uk and france have pretty much got together and written these and in a way that
[2754.53] Frank: model aircraft are generally left alone um autonomous and beyond visual line of sight
[2761.57] Frank: things are kind of written into it so that in the future that can become a thing um although it's
[2768.05] Frank: still you know there's going to be huge load of hoops to jump through but still fewer than there
[2773.25] Frank: are at the moment um but we're basically not going to have to worry about it it is written
[2780.13] Frank: with the intention of saying oh phantoms and phantom flyers are a bit of a problem
[2785.49] Andy: we should probably do something about that um you know because the media went with the angle
[2790.45] Andy: uh new drone regulations and hobbyists aren't going to be happy that was the title wasn't it yeah i
[2795.65] Frank: think i think in there as well basically didn't understand the difference between fpv and beveloss
[2803.89] Frank: and so bv los beyond visual line of sight is autonomous autonomous flying or long long range
[2810.53] Frank: flying which is illegal anyway unless you have special written permission from various people
[2817.33] Frank: so it's it's not more restrictive the the added restrictions from what you can currently do are
[2824.61] Frank: one you probably have to be a member of fpv uk or bmfa and that's that's you know which is
[2832.29] Frank: sensible anyway from the insurance stance yeah yeah and the other one is the height um so we'll
[2838.85] Frank: probably be a bit more limited on height but who cares i fly that far off the floor exactly
[2845.73] Frank: like who's who's going a thousand foot in the air what do you get from that that you don't get from
[2850.77] Frank: 400 foot in the air um yeah i don't really understands the more time to crash
[2857.65] Frank: yeah but 400 foot is still pretty high do you know what's interesting what's interesting
[2864.13] Andy: i've got a friend who's a ga pilot who does um vlogs of his flights and if if he wants to get
[2870.53] Andy: decent footage of the ground he lands and takes his drone up because his drone can get a better
[2875.73] Andy: shot because it can go lower than his natural plane so it may i think we're we're fine at that
[2883.01] Andy: height you the soon as you start going higher um the clarity of what you can see on the ground
[2888.53] Andy: anyway isn't as good uh so i hear so yeah you're not not ever experienced that have you any no i
[2896.69] Lee: have a friend who breaks the law so no names no pectoral frank quick question the drone stuff
[2905.33] Lee: that you're talking about i noticed that in a lot of the legislation drone is a very
[2910.61] Lee: woolly term yeah yeah it is so what's your thoughts on fixed wing
[2917.65] Frank: so they're not actually calling it drone they're not calling it multi-roader they're calling it
[2921.65] Frank: unmanned air or was it particularly i think it's uav or uas okay yeah so it potentially could
[2930.13] Frank: include fixed wing it covers absolutely everything yeah i can't see how it's going it specifically
[2935.97] Frank: says that it covers model aircraft um it's all involved in the same thing but it's still a case
[2941.57] Frank: of if it's built yourself you're pretty much sticking to the same regulations they were anyway
[2947.41] Tony: that's good to do difference i just i just built on flying a drone uh under 250 grams
[2954.45] Tony: do i not have to worry about that one if you've got a tiny loop just don't fly over crowds it flies
[2960.69] Tony: it's got five inch brains and it's light enough to fly yeah i think that's where it's going
[2966.69] Frank: anyway isn't it really for us lightweight don't think too close to people don't fly over crowds
[2973.65] Frank: it's the same rules that we've got at the moment anyway yeah yeah don't be a bellend yeah don't be
[2979.33] Frank: on fire yeah well there's always don't be a they've just had to be a bit more detailed they've
[2986.21] Frank: become a bit more nuanced they've changed where the gray areas are just so that there's a bit more
[2992.77] Frank: uh a sort of requirement on manufacturers like dji to make it a bit harder to do something stupid
[3001.89] NJ: that's my takeaway from it anyway yeah i've literally within the last couple of days got
[3007.41] NJ: my new uh dji product and uh that's my first thing with fire i was waiting for it i was waiting
[3014.93] NJ: i was prepared and having not had anything dji for a long long time i've been not talking since
[3021.65] NJ: the old flame wheel 450 uh that that bit of which i've still got sat down there my old original
[3027.33] NJ: dji which is you know five five six years ago this is the part where he tells us he failed the 10
[3032.45] NJ: questions yeah i have actually skipped that i haven't gone and done them yet you skip it five
[3038.85] NJ: times four or five times something like that i'm i'm actually quite impressed with their efforts
[3043.97] NJ: to to keep you informed about the the areas you're flying in and where the safe areas are and
[3049.97] NJ: there are steps there that are definitely way beyond any other any other system like that
[3055.97] NJ: that's out there in the market i mean there's nothing that comes close in terms of
[3059.97] NJ: literally saying to you on your screen you're in a class d or a class b you shouldn't be here or
[3064.45] NJ: here are the zones and making you do the tests and at least they're making an active effort to
[3069.41] NJ: try and inform the people that are causing us the problems um and having firsthand experience with
[3075.33] NJ: that now in the last couple of days i'm i've actually quite feel a little more reassured
[3080.29] Jack: seeing what they're what they're doing just quickly um by the way uh was it you tony uh
[3087.49] Jack: well done if it was and it turns out the plane diving was fake video and noek
[3095.09] Tony: paste posted it and i always thought it looked fake from day one i said it looked fake and does
[3102.93] Tony: this mean the earth is flat too tony probably more likely nj you'll find out and then you'll go
[3109.41] Jack: he was right you know i'm gonna be so annoyed at god if that does if tony don't know he's like war
[3116.93] Jack: imagine but no heaven no chance fbv flat i'll give you another one of those apology notes
[3124.69] Tony: where i insult you again i've still got that apology note something
[3131.57] Jack: when you are murdered they're gonna find out who done it um
[3136.37] Jack: what are you gonna say painless you were trying to get something out earlier i was just gonna ask
[3141.01] Lee: tony and uh i'd heard you've got as was it a zohd dart or one of those planes i just i have
[3148.61] Tony: it's all ready to go and i still haven't made it i've got it for christmas for my parents and i
[3153.89] Lee: have not flown it yet let me know what you think of it mate because i i'm i'm a big fan and i just
[3160.37] Lee: heard you've got got one and i'm just uh interested in your opinion because i find flying fixed wing
[3165.73] Tony: a very different experience from multirotors but i i will only fly fbv i can't i i actually
[3174.45] Tony: bought it because it's got that um lob it in the air and it will launch itself kind of thing
[3179.89] Lee: yeah it's got the stabilizer on it with auto launch it's an amazing little playmate you'll
[3184.21] Lee: hopefully if you love it as much as i do you'll you'll be over the moon man i'm looking forward
[3188.37] Tony: to even more now it's just been crud weather always windy and i just haven't got round to it
[3194.37] Tony: and now it's snowing and brain wants to know can you fit it in a backpack yes yes because you can
[3200.85] Lee: take you can just take the wings off they just pop off it's really cool it's held together with
[3206.77] Lee: magnets it's amazing and it'll do stupid like 35 40 minutes on an 850 3s battery i've got a 1300
[3216.85] Lee: ready oh mate yeah 3s you'll lose the feeling in your feet before you run the battery out
[3223.41] Lee: sounds like fun man i'm looking at it's well well maybe we'll bring them to the uh to the event
[3229.73] Lee: yeah definitely i'll bring a couple of planes
[3235.73] Jack: oh you could bring your bixler yes finally got that dirty deans connector out of it the other day
[3244.53] Jack: this is painless 360 what's this all about honestly you give them a free plane and all it does
[3249.57] Frank: it wind yeah i'm very grateful i've got a couple of deans nycads somewhere if you want to be worse
[3259.25] Jack: it could be chris g oh the banana parts i don't remember that yeah it turns out he plugged them
[3267.25] Jack: in backwards the other day fried his whole what is wrong with people they haven't done that track
[3273.65] Tony: and had to come down and ask you to rescue i've done that no no i don't think it's possible
[3279.41] Jack: i think we've made it tony proof yeah just you've gone back to race flight what is wrong with you
[3286.93] Tony: oh look leave it out i'm having one more go one of my quads oh my god it's like an ex-girlfriend
[3293.57] Tony: you just won't give up i'm pretty sure you've boiled your bun i had a bad fc that's all and
[3299.81] Tony: i'm trying it again and i've got if it doesn't work then i'm buying an f3 board and i'm driving
[3307.89] Tony: all the way to nj's and saying sort that lot out she's a good person deep down i'm going up
[3315.57] Tony: doesn't understand me i'm not listening to you like there's a bit in my brain when you speak it just
[3322.37] Jack: mutes all right well that that's time everyone um you've been listening boo-hoo.com that went
[3332.53] Tony: quick didn't it yeah yeah we didn't even ask you if there's any questions for painless in the chat
[3339.25] Tony: or anything maybe we could run over another 20 minutes what's uh you're paying the editor
[3345.41] Jack: i've already played it but you know i'm yeah um
[3353.89] Jack: take him on for the team yep will that make the edit that's the question uh any question
[3360.53] Tony: yeah next week we have painless back on me
[3366.29] Tony: has anyone got any questions for painless in the chat you've got 10 minutes
[3371.09] Frank: which is going to cost me another two quid go mr thrust asked if anyone knows anything about the
[3379.09] Frank: new merge nasi uh goggle module the rapid fire well they won't send us one and they won't give
[3387.25] NJ: one away it's a prize i know that yeah i don't know anything about that personally no i'm not good
[3393.81] NJ: about it i think all eyes have just been on the clear view at the minute i don't suppose you're
[3397.89] Lee: getting one of those are you painless no it's not waiting money no i well i i i've got one potentially
[3405.01] Lee: coming i've been but i've been um waiting for some of the bits and pieces to get here as well
[3411.41] Lee: the the only the last thing i've got that i'll be doing soon is the furious fpv true d 3.5 i've got
[3417.73] Lee: one of those in and they did um a custom version of the firmware with my logo in it oh nice so when
[3423.65] Lee: you boot it up it has the painless pill which is awesome but um no i i'm hoping to get a clear view
[3429.17] Lee: but we've been playing back and forth um they're just they are blooming expensive though that's
[3434.05] NJ: the problem with them so i figure out how to do that i've asked kindly whether they they might
[3439.01] Tony: consider it to be fun to review i think i don't think the um uh ground station is gonna be better
[3445.33] Andy: than the yeah steel was saying he wasn't too impressed with it because he's got one compared
[3450.37] Andy: to like the la forge which you think it'd be much better and there's a forge has been having problems
[3455.49] NJ: there's a new one now isn't there v4 the forge is just landed they've uh buttons have been falling
[3461.41] Jack: off um screens have been acting a bit mental so a couple of quick questions on the coming
[3470.61] Jack: through that we can probably pick up on um is he gonna read geez i'm dying
[3480.13] Lee: so where where should we start okay now you know says what's your favorite fc at the moment
[3487.01] Lee: favorite flight controller i at the moment believe it or not it's the cl racing f4s um that i've built
[3495.25] Lee: a couple of things with recently the there was a problem with the previous version 1.2 was it
[3501.73] Lee: where some of the things like the emacs bullet eses caused a flip of death they've updated it
[3507.25] Lee: to 1.4 and it just it's just so easy to build stuff with unfortunately my cameras doesn't seem
[3512.69] Lee: to want to work otherwise i'll show you all um but it's it's really great i'm also a big fan of the
[3517.81] Lee: good old brain fpv re1 that has the vector based on screen display um and that when you're flying
[3524.77] Lee: any distance just looks amazing but and i really like the beta flight board um as well so it it
[3531.41] Lee: depends to be honest there aren't that many really bad boards these days it used to be that used to
[3536.37] Lee: get some real dogs but most of them going back to what nj was saying about you know obviously
[3541.65] Lee: having the right amu and gyros are pretty good things like the um haikoura whatever it's called
[3547.73] Lee: from holly bro you know the one with the vibration isolated imu um i quite like that one too because
[3553.57] Lee: that one you can put on pretty much anything and hard mount it and it doesn't care yeah that's the
[3560.37] Jack: one yeah nothing can be as bad as the nays ref six six oh god what a dog yeah that was horrible
[3570.05] Jack: i would i should have put more of them through my shredder that's what we should if race if my race
[3579.17] Tony: flight doesn't fly we will put it through the shredder or i'll set fire to it we can set fire
[3584.05] NJ: to it yeah i think so okay honestly tony you need to try and hunt down rc12 and the
[3590.37] NJ: configurator that went with rc12 that was the best i ever saw personally it flew great when i
[3596.05] NJ: and race flight it never really i'd had too many mid throttle oscillation problems thereafter
[3600.77] NJ: on multiple builds for me and uh that's when i sort of ended up parting ways with with race
[3605.81] NJ: flight but i would try and hunt down rc12 because i know that flew really well there the filtering
[3610.21] Lee: was really good on that it did fly well yeah playing this next question uh but just there's
[3616.77] Lee: quite a few coming here so the one from tornado girl oh if you want long range without crossfire
[3622.13] Lee: is the nano the best option or any fr sky uh i've got a nano receiver coming uh in it's actually
[3629.09] Lee: shipped today trappy completely lost track of it so finally got one on its way we'll have a play
[3634.29] Lee: with that um to be honest there's so many people immersion rca coming out the long range system as
[3639.97] Lee: well everyone's jumping on the bandwagon some of them are jumping on the bandwagon using uh tbs
[3646.13] Lee: technology which is kind of interesting um but the nano i'll be able to answer in a couple of
[3651.65] Lee: weeks i imagine there's loads of firmware updates that needed for the crossfire as well personally
[3656.21] Lee: i like the crossfire the crsf protocol is blooming brilliant um so even if you're not flying a long
[3662.21] Lee: way away um it's a much stronger faster connection to the model anyway even if you're just flying
[3667.81] NJ: at your local flying field one thing they they fixed recently as well uh which was a problem
[3673.65] NJ: was when it was moving from as you moved further away with the crossfire it was there's a point
[3677.81] NJ: where it would switch from 150 hertz down to 50 yeah and there was glitching as it did that switch
[3683.25] NJ: um and recently they've patched that now um and it's i i can't detect the switch over like i can
[3690.05] NJ: see the switch over happening in my osd um and i hear the tyrannus very briefly moan as as it dips
[3696.69] NJ: on 150 and switches down to 50 hertz and absolutely no effect on the quad so as far as i'm concerned
[3702.77] Lee: yeah it's it's just bulletproof at the minute the trick is you've got to be running the latest
[3709.17] Lee: beta software so when you are using the tbs agent and you're updating everything make sure you click
[3714.61] Lee: the little button that allows you to access all the beta software because nj is absolutely right
[3720.13] Lee: all the all the latest really cool stuff is in the beta software and they're changing it so often
[3724.93] Lee: they're not getting to the point where it gets the gold so released it so you kind of have to
[3729.33] Lee: just cross your fingers and use the latest and greatest and that usually will fix everything
[3735.23] Tony: there's a quick question in chat for neil what am i running on bl heli neil
[3742.27] Tony: bl heli i'm you running yeah i think that's bl heli i'm not what
[3747.95] NJ: bl heli the minute i'm i'm using uh on both of my archon builds and i've just built a new
[3754.27] NJ: six inch which is this guy here so this is a new archon
[3757.87] NJ: three six inch and that is using the es 30 spedex and they are a bl heli 32
[3765.71] NJ: um and i'm just finding that bl heli 32 because it's still quite heavily under development
[3772.43] NJ: um it's now getting to the point of being quite good and quite stable i'm noticing that i can
[3777.55] NJ: just push that push my tune a little bit further with the shot 1200 and bl heli 32 so that's what
[3784.11] NJ: i'm going with which is 32.3 i think is the current latest but 32.4 is around the corner
[3790.99] NJ: and then anything i'm running on uh bl heli s always the latest 16.7 i've always
[3796.91] NJ: generally made sure i kept those things he meant he meant crossfire yeah my bad sorry crossfire
[3804.11] NJ: oh right for crossfire i am running uh so what what version so i'm running 2.25 that's
[3810.75] NJ: the latest beta at the minute and i flash that onto my v2 micro receivers and also this one
[3817.55] NJ: although you won't be able to see it does have the nano in it um and that is running uh 2.25 and
[3824.91] NJ: again absolutely no problems whatsoever uh range link everything has been completely solid so
[3830.35] Lee: i can vouch for that cool next one painless uh there's a couple asking about my professional
[3839.31] Lee: background i think we talked about that a lot in the very surgeon less drone at yeah horse
[3845.39] Lee: gynecologist um but the my professional background is actually uh sales and marketing and a little
[3853.47] Lee: bit of training as well so that's that's where i came from we did a lot more on that in the very
[3858.27] Lee: first let's draw now i ever did where i kind of talked a little bit more about it so that's uh
[3863.15] Lee: originally trained as electronics design engineer that's what i trained as and then got into
[3869.23] Lee: computers and that's realized where you could make a few books in that and did that for a for
[3873.15] Lee: a job instead but um the smell of solder still makes me feel like i'm 17 um and an apprentice
[3879.79] Lee: learning to wire things up for the very first time it's one of those wonderful things every time
[3884.75] Lee: hit the smell of solder i'm a little kid again it's fantastic okay sweet so you guys can all
[3892.11] Tony: meet painless andy rc frank the yeti nj and me if you like at the mini air show
[3903.95] Tony: please come and say hello to us because let's face it we're running it well frank is
[3912.03] Frank: can you put the link in again just yep for everyone mini air show dot code at uk
[3919.23] Frank: um thank you pretty sure you can google it facebook it and everything else as well
[3926.75] Frank: helps if i spell it correctly though when i type it in the chat mini air show
[3934.03] Jack: sponsored by cabrys other chocolates available good film actually i don't know if there's a scene
[3940.03] Jack: that i i did enjoy that cocoa as it were yeah last time i see jack was at hobby king and he was sick
[3947.63] Jack: with flu lol it was like was i dying at hobby king sounds you weren't on you weren't on top
[3954.99] Lee: form mate but you weren't um you were just knackered weren't you i think so yeah it's a long long way
[3960.67] Tony: yeah jack's tired we'll be signing all across we'll be signing props i'm not signing props
[3968.35] Jack: he's gone to his head people this is why i'm falling out with him
[3971.87] Tony: i didn't sign me i said playing this will be signing props
[3976.19] Lee: i was i was gonna say i'll sign anything but i'm setting myself
[3982.11] Lee: uh well just one very quick one erwin l asked about whether or not i'm doing more plane inav
[3987.55] Lee: stuff erwin yes absolutely i've got in the f35 lightning flight controller from fururius fpv
[3994.43] Lee: that's an inav specific board i'll probably be sticking that in a zohd orbit wing i'm also
[3999.87] Lee: working directly with constantine who is mr inav flight and him and i going to do a joint series
[4005.71] Lee: putting inav 1.9 that's nearly released into a caipirinha 2 wing from uh from tbs that the process
[4014.83] Lee: although it's using quite expensive stuff it'll be exactly the same uh process to put it in any
[4019.79] Lee: kind of fixed wind model so there's at least two series and things that i'm planning to do with
[4023.87] Tony: inav so stay tuned cool cool cool superfly said can you sign his moves
[4033.55] Lee: if he if he comes over says hello probably
[4038.11] Jack: i'm gonna video that i will buy him a drink if he manages that
[4046.99] Lee: awesome i want to put inav on one of my wings
[4049.23] Lee: oh bless it it's amazing for those of you that haven't done it yet having that gps return to home
[4056.19] Lee: and on screen display stuff for the fpv is is also it's just like it's just like a multi-rotor
[4063.71] Jack: that flies for 40 minutes it's brilliant right uh i've got a cool time thank you guys for tuning
[4070.43] Jack: in listening and uh liking subscribing and uh write your messages of hate for tony or love
[4078.19] Frank: for tony probably love jack yep loveable thank you patreons for patronizing patronizing
[4094.11] Jack: thanks for patronizing us yeah thank you uh yep uh you've been joined by andrew slash frank
[4102.35] Jack: good night andy rc good evening painless 360 and it's good night from me
[4112.99] Jack: nj tech have a good one guys cc my queen tony bonjour
[4121.95] Jack: no bonjour okay and i've been uh jack or brighten or whatever you want to call me
[4131.39] Jack: and uh the last thing we will hear is painless 360 wishing us happy flying happy flying telemetry
