[1.0] Frank: Let's drone out now. [5.93] Jack: Apparently we're live. Hello and welcome to another episode of Let's Drone Out. [11.43] Jack: Tonight we are joined by... [13.43] Jack: I had a deal with Curry Kitten last week. Curry Kitten. [17.43] Jack: Bonjour! [18.43] Tony: Hey! [19.43] Tony: Hello, I'm mad. [20.43] Tony: Everyone's dicking my... [22.43] Jack: I'm owning that now. [24.43] Andy: Swear word already. [25.43] Andy: Swear word. [26.43] Jack: Yeah. [27.43] Jack: Yeah. [28.43] Jack: Tony doesn't really care about that because he knows that I'm editor. [32.43] Jack: So he's trying to make my life as hard as possible for now. [36.43] Tony: Damn it. [37.43] Jack: So I will. [38.43] Jack: You already covered it all. [39.43] Jack: Three swears and this happened. [44.43] Jack: Yeah, we're also joined by my new second love affair, Andy RC. [53.43] Jack: Hello. [55.43] Jack: And everyone's favourite, Frank. [58.43] Jack: That would be me, I guess, I presume. [61.43] Jack: Yeah. [62.43] Jack: And we are joined by, of course, my little squeeze on the side. [68.43] Tony: Oh, hello. [71.43] Jack: That's pretty nice. [72.43] Jack: That is pretty good. [73.43] Jack: And of course, suspiciously, for someone who doesn't work for Fat Shark, they amazingly got Fat Shark on this show. [84.43] Jack: Andy RC. [85.43] Jack: Incredible. [86.43] Jack: Our special guest tonight, Grant. [88.43] Jack: Hey, guys. [91.71] Jack: So you're the CEO and advertiser and all that good stuff for Fat Shark. [98.71] Jack: Is that right? [99.71] Mr FatShark: No, I'm the chief difficulty officer at Fat Shark, actually. [103.71] Mr FatShark: I'm CDA. [105.71] Mr FatShark: I do a lot of our front of house stuff basically all in the US, you know, marketing product, et cetera. [111.71] Mr FatShark: But we have a new CEO, his name's Alan. [113.71] Mr FatShark: He's in the other room. [114.71] Mr FatShark: But you got me today. [117.71] Jack: It's fine. [118.71] Jack: We like you. [119.71] Jack: And you tolerated the sense of humour last time, for which we kind of apologise for. [124.71] Jack: But it is us. [126.71] Mr FatShark: Well, let's see if we can change it this time. [127.71] Mr FatShark: Maybe you won't like me by the end of this. [129.71] Jack: No, you're all right. [131.71] Jack: A little shout out to someone who did make me chuckle. [134.71] Jack: Rob FPV, Aldi, what time does this start? [140.71] Jack: So, Tony, do you want to read out people in the chat? [143.71] Tony: Oh, yes. [145.71] Tony: Hold on. [146.71] Tony: So we've got to win from Wales who's watching us. [149.71] Tony: Daffy Boyne. [151.71] Tony: Zero. [153.71] Tony: Zero's always in the chat. [154.71] Tony: We love zero. [156.71] Tony: Who else is in the chat? [157.71] Tony: Let me flick through. [159.71] Tony: Rob FPV, Nutty Prop, crash tests in there, Richard Warwick. [167.71] Tony: Yeah. [168.71] Tony: That's all I can see so far. [170.71] Tony: So, hello, everyone. [173.71] Jack: Big shout out to our Patreons. [175.71] Jack: Thank you very much for your support. [179.71] Jack: This show is probably sponsored by Mikey Dred again. [183.71] Jack: If not, Ferdy, or failing that, Steve Gadlin. [186.71] Jack: But I definitely think he was last week. [189.71] Jack: So, Andrew slash Frank, I'm really sorry. [193.71] Frank: Slash Colin McRae. [195.71] Frank: Slash Lumberjack slash Cat Herder. [198.71] Jack: Yeah. [199.71] Jack: Without the editor, I'm lost. [202.71] Jack: Right. [203.71] Jack: Over to you, Frank, or Andy Aussie. [206.71] Jack: Yeah. [207.71] Andy: So let's get straight into it. [209.71] Andy: So the HDOs were released. [214.71] Andy: And actually, you guys did a live stream the other night [217.71] Andy: and explained a lot of the stuff that went on. [221.71] Andy: And you mentioned that the HDO actually accidentally, [227.71] Andy: there was like a page that got released on Fat Shock [230.71] Andy: and it ended up on Road to Riot. [232.71] Andy: Could you explain a bit more about that [234.71] Andy: and sort of what happened with the video releases and stuff? [239.71] Mr FatShark: So I should start this by prefacing it with I screwed up. [247.71] Mr FatShark: That's the first thing to say. [249.71] Mr FatShark: Welcome to Let's Throw Now. [252.71] Mr FatShark: So what we try to do when we're launching products [254.71] Mr FatShark: is have a media embargo. [257.71] Mr FatShark: So everybody launches at the same time. [259.71] Mr FatShark: So everybody can build their reviews up and spend some time [262.71] Mr FatShark: building copy and be smart about launching a product. [265.71] Mr FatShark: It doesn't work really well all the time. [267.71] Mr FatShark: It's just like Apple. [268.71] Mr FatShark: You never want to leak the Apple 10, 12, whatever. [271.71] Mr FatShark: You want everybody at 10 o'clock in one day to launch something. [274.71] Mr FatShark: And so I think it's Sunday night. [276.71] Mr FatShark: I'm about to sit down and watch a movie with my wife. [278.71] Mr FatShark: And I was updating a product page with a new HDO, [283.71] Mr FatShark: like updating some features or whatever. [285.71] Mr FatShark: And I had published it through our content management system [288.71] Mr FatShark: as unlisted, which is unsurgeable, unfindable, [291.71] Mr FatShark: can't find it anywhere. [293.71] Mr FatShark: And what did you know? [295.71] Mr FatShark: In like 15 seconds, somebody found it [297.71] Mr FatShark: and they posted it on Reddit. [299.71] Mr FatShark: And then Mike Chin from TBS Epic found it [304.71] Mr FatShark: and tossed it over to Road to Riot [306.71] Mr FatShark: and then everybody lost their shit. [308.71] Mr FatShark: And then we did not watch our movie last night. [311.71] Andy: Oh, man. [313.71] Mr FatShark: Yeah. [314.71] Mr FatShark: And it's fine because I expect things to leak. [316.71] Mr FatShark: But I'd sent some review units out. [319.71] Mr FatShark: And I had to tell everybody, like, oh, my God, [322.71] Mr FatShark: everything's live now. [323.71] Mr FatShark: So smoke them if you got them. [325.71] Mr FatShark: And I think a lot of people had to rush and push stuff up [327.71] Mr FatShark: at the last second because a lot of people [329.71] Mr FatShark: want to do their traffic grab, publish as fast as possible. [333.71] Andy: Sure. [334.71] Andy: And that really surprised me because for me, [337.71] Andy: like, what I've been waiting for is OLED in goggles, you know? [341.71] Andy: But I think I first saw it in the Sinemizer goggles. [345.71] Andy: And to me, it made sense. [346.71] Andy: So surely the response could have only have been positive, [349.71] Andy: right? [351.71] Andy: Yeah. [354.71] Mr FatShark: Yeah. [355.71] Mr FatShark: I mean, I think there's two distinct camps of people. [357.71] Mr FatShark: I mean, there's people who want fidelity [359.71] Mr FatShark: and they want really, really crisp, amazing racing. [361.71] Mr FatShark: And then there's people who want field of view. [363.71] Mr FatShark: And I think we made one camp really happy [366.71] Mr FatShark: and we made one camp really uncomfortable. [371.71] Mr FatShark: But something I want to get into later [373.71] Mr FatShark: is kind of what field of view means to you guys [375.71] Mr FatShark: and kind of what the difference is [377.71] Mr FatShark: between a wide field of view, regular, HD2, I think, [382.71] Mr FatShark: is what you say, and a box cargo. [384.71] Mr FatShark: But we can get to that later. [385.71] Mr FatShark: Yeah. [386.71] Mr FatShark: It's been good. [387.71] Mr FatShark: It's been polarizing. [388.71] Mr FatShark: It's been just like an election in the United States, I guess. [390.71] Mr FatShark: Some people love it. [391.71] Mr FatShark: Some people hate it. [392.71] Jack: Well, congratulations for, like, not getting fired [394.71] Jack: unlike the RC. [396.71] Jack: So let's start on a positive note. [399.71] Jack: What do you mean by uncomfortable? [401.71] Jack: Do you mean that you didn't get the no shape right [403.71] Jack: and you're going to get a video 20 minutes later [405.71] Jack: from NJ Tech? [408.71] Jack: Sounding the goggles down. [410.71] Mr FatShark: I mean, viscerally uncomfortable, I believe. [412.71] Mr FatShark: Like, they just, I think there's a lot of people [416.71] Mr FatShark: who care a lot about specs and field of view. [420.71] Mr FatShark: And when they see a smaller, bigger field of view, [423.71] Mr FatShark: that's a direct correlation to them. [424.71] Mr FatShark: Bigger field of view is better. [425.71] Mr FatShark: Smaller field of view is worse. [426.71] Mr FatShark: And it's binary, right? [428.71] Mr FatShark: And so when you see a decrease in field of view, [430.71] Mr FatShark: so to speak, on paper from the HD3 [433.71] Mr FatShark: down to the dominator HDO, [436.71] Mr FatShark: that's just an immediate negative response for a lot of people. [439.71] Mr FatShark: Yeah. [441.71] Andy: I think that's the biggest thing that got lost [446.71] Andy: in those initial videos. [448.71] Andy: You see, I've owned a lot of pairs of fat sharks. [451.71] Andy: And my initial reaction to fat sharks was that... [454.71] Jack: Not that he sponsored my fat shark. [457.71] Andy: Not that I tried to get a sponsor. [459.71] Andy: No, I know. [461.71] Andy: Yeah, my initial reaction was, [463.71] Andy: because I came from the box goggles, [465.71] Andy: which we all know have a massive field of view. [468.71] Andy: And when I went to fat sharks, the field of view was smaller. [471.71] Andy: And it's not until I received the HD2 that I realized [475.71] Andy: that there is a limitation on field of view. [479.71] Andy: Like, I think the HD2s had a field of view of 50 degrees. [484.71] Andy: And a lot of people, when they put those up to their eyes, [489.71] Andy: they saw blurred edges. [491.71] Andy: And I think some people put up with it. [493.71] Andy: And some people said, no, that's not for me. [495.71] Andy: And then the HD3s went down on the field of view. [499.71] Andy: And all of a sudden, it becomes clearer. [502.71] Andy: And when I heard that the field of view is going to be 37 degrees, [508.71] Andy: I just thought, well, actually, to me, that makes sense, [512.71] Andy: because it means that more people are going to be able to use them. [517.71] Andy: And I think, you know, it's not that much of a change, either, [521.71] Andy: from, like, what are the HD3s? [523.71] Andy: 43 to 37. [525.71] Andy: I think people are concentrating way too much on the field of view. [529.71] Andy: And what we should be concentrating on is the fact [532.71] Andy: that we've now got, like, OLEDs in fat sharks. [536.71] Andy: And that's a big deal, I think, because, you know, [541.71] Andy: we've got OLEDs in the viewfinder, the cameras, [543.71] Andy: and the picture quality is awesome, and the contrast is much better. [548.71] Andy: People, it was sort of like saying, oh, they're, well, they're expensive. [552.71] Andy: Yeah, but look how much the cinemas were when they came out. [555.71] Andy: They were $1,000. [557.71] Andy: And, you know, the price of the HD3s have come down a lot, [563.71] Andy: but they were the same price as these OLEDs that have come out now. [567.71] Andy: So I think they've been a little bit harsh on, like, the price [572.71] Andy: and what it's brought, and, yeah. [575.71] Curry: Well, I think that's a slight problem with the guys that are really [579.71] Curry: after the field of view who want it no matter what. [582.71] Curry: So it's like you bring it down, you get better visual fidelity. [585.71] Curry: They're like, we want it, and we want that. [587.71] Curry: Make it happen as opposed to facing the actual technical limitations [591.71] Curry: of what you're working with. [593.71] Mr FatShark: I mean, I think some people are a little bit disappointed [596.71] Mr FatShark: in that some of the basic features that are requested in these sets of goggles, [600.71] Mr FatShark: I mean, these have been under development for over a year, [603.71] Mr FatShark: so we can't put every bell and whistle on it. [605.71] Mr FatShark: But they're also in the same shell that we've been using for 10 years. [608.71] Mr FatShark: So it's hard to tool out, like, a slot for a power button, et cetera, [613.71] Mr FatShark: when we already have, like, the chassis already finished. [617.71] Mr FatShark: So there's a lot of negative sentiment around that, too. [620.71] Mr FatShark: But in general, I mean, I believe that with the HDO, [624.71] Mr FatShark: we've taken the Ford Taurus and we've put a Ferrari engine in it, [629.71] Mr FatShark: and, you know, we've really upgraded the core of this display system. [635.71] Mr FatShark: And that was the goal, the overall goal first. [639.71] Mr FatShark: I mean, we wanted to put the Ferrari engine in first [641.71] Mr FatShark: and then start updating some of the ancillary features, [644.71] Mr FatShark: like the tires and the radio second, [646.71] Mr FatShark: because really it's about the image quality first, [648.71] Mr FatShark: and after that it's about doodads. [651.71] Andy: Yeah, one thing I thought was interesting on the stream as well [655.71] Andy: is a question that has come up a lot is regarding the DVR, [659.71] Andy: the fact that it's pretty much the same. [662.71] Andy: And I thought it was interesting what was said about the reason why that is. [671.71] Andy: And it's basically because it works. [673.71] Andy: And I never actually realized about the fact that when it sort of, like, [679.71] Andy: drops the signal, codecs go absolutely crazy, [684.71] Andy: because they're not used to it, [685.71] Andy: because all modern codecs are used to a digital image and not snow. [692.71] Andy: And that's like the biggest obstacle with getting a better DVR in the fact shocks. [697.71] Andy: And there have been DVRs that you guys have been working on, [701.71] Andy: but they didn't make it because you weren't happy with it. [705.71] Mr FatShark: Yeah, I mean, I definitely don't want to sound flippant [707.71] Mr FatShark: in talking about the DVR to say like, [709.71] Mr FatShark: oh, yeah, we just use it because it works, right? [711.71] Mr FatShark: Because so we did a live stream on our Thatcher community website, [716.71] Mr FatShark: on Facebook yesterday, if anybody wants to go take a look at it, [719.71] Mr FatShark: it's 45 minutes of us just answering questions like this. [722.71] Jack: If you've got a link, I'll stick it in the chat thing as well. [728.71] Jack: Like, don't be too hard on yourself, man, [731.71] Jack: because like at the end of the day, you're in a hobby full of guys. [734.71] Jack: So like, you know, when you get a big group of guys, size does matter. [740.71] Jack: Trust me, I've been to Wales with Tony. [744.71] Mr FatShark: So maybe there's a question you guys can answer for me then. [749.71] Mr FatShark: So I've been looking at a lot of like the sentiment of responses. [754.71] Mr FatShark: So you look at the Rotoriot pages and people talking about the HDO [757.71] Mr FatShark: and there's like a lot of real negativity [760.71] Mr FatShark: around not only the field of view, but Fat Shark in general. [764.71] Mr FatShark: And do you think that there's a culture issue with Fat Shark [768.71] Mr FatShark: and that we're perceived as indifferent or terrible people? [772.71] Mr FatShark: Like, I'm trying to figure because I'm working with Greg here. [775.71] Mr FatShark: He's our founder. [776.71] Mr FatShark: And he's reading his comments and it's hurting him. [779.71] Mr FatShark: And he's taking this stuff really seriously. [781.71] Mr FatShark: And I wonder if he's been disengaged or Fat Shark seems like it's been disengaged [786.71] Mr FatShark: for so long. [787.71] Mr FatShark: Is there a branding issue with Fat Shark? [789.71] Mr FatShark: What is your perception of Fat Shark as the brand right now, guys? [792.71] Curry: It seems to me, Fat Shark comes up a lot as they're quite expensive, [797.71] Curry: but they really work. [801.71] Curry: But I guess you guys don't exactly put a lot out there until it's released. [806.71] Curry: It's a bit like Apple again, isn't it? [807.71] Curry: It's like, what's going to come out? [808.71] Curry: What's going to come out? [809.71] Curry: And it's like it suddenly appears magically. [811.71] Curry: But I don't think people are disengaged with a brand. [814.71] Curry: It's still one of the most solid goggles you can get. [817.71] Curry: And I think that's fairly obvious for most people, [821.71] Curry: although you do pay the money for them. [824.71] Frank: I think from my point of view, there's still the idea of if you're serious in FPV, [831.71] Frank: you have Fat Sharks, which as a Fat Shark skeptic myself, [835.71] Frank: I've never found a pair of Fat Sharks that I particularly get along with particularly well. [839.71] Frank: And I've still got box goggles. [841.71] Frank: But it's still like I really want to buy some Fat Sharks [846.71] Frank: if I could find some that I could look into and not feel like I'm going boss-eyed. [851.71] Frank: You've got a test subject. [854.71] Jack: A guinea pig. [855.71] Jack: But we want him back in fully working order. [858.71] Frank: But as Nussy Prox says in the chat, [861.71] Frank: there's negativity on the Rotorite page. [864.71] Frank: That's kind of to be expected. [866.71] Frank: That's not the Rotorite page. [868.71] Frank: Criticism. [870.71] Frank: You're doing really well. [872.71] Frank: You're still viewed as the name in FPV goggles. [877.71] Frank: Yeah, it's still the top, isn't it? [879.71] Frank: I think it's that the expectations are so high from Fat Shark. [883.71] Frank: Yeah. [884.71] Frank: It's, you know, you've got this shiny new screens and everything else is the same. [890.71] Frank: And everyone was kind of assuming that it was going to be like everything was going to be revolutionary. [896.71] Frank: And so I think kind of there's that kind of that's why people are a bit not as positive about the, [903.71] Frank: the HDOs is that they're expecting to completely change everything again. [909.71] Mr FatShark: And I'm certainly not looking for guilt or for you guys to feel sorry for me, [914.71] Mr FatShark: but I do want to make it clear to both you guys and the people watching that. [918.71] Mr FatShark: I think Greg and Alan and I all take the feedback really seriously. [922.71] Mr FatShark: And we've had a few polls in the group on Facebook to say what features do you want in the next version? [929.71] Mr FatShark: We're looking at every single comment and taking them seriously. [932.71] Mr FatShark: So if you are complaining, keep complaining because we're going to hear you. [937.71] Jack: I don't, if I was you, like my God honest opinion is that like I look at, [943.71] Jack: I look at Fat Sharks and I'm like, they are coke and whore money. [947.71] Jack: But like me and Andy, whores will have our trinkets. [956.71] Jack: We like our nice thing and like Fat Sharks, nice all in one package. [963.71] Jack: And if you start listening to too many people and like adding things on, it can go wrong. [968.71] Jack: You've got a good formula. [970.71] Jack: And the number one thing is A, it works and B, as soon as you have a problem, [975.71] Jack: your repair center more than makes up for it. [979.71] Jack: I have been, I've been grumbly about Fat Sharks, right? [984.71] Jack: But when I get a pair and a board's broken and I send it into someone like David, [991.71] Jack: who I don't announce who I am, like, so I don't get like special treatment. [996.71] Jack: And especially the way I write emails as well. [998.71] Jack: It's like, as if you'd ever get special treatment, Jack. [1001.71] Jack: Yeah. Yeah, true. I'm not, I'm not Andy RC, you know. [1005.71] Andy: I do the same. I never use my name with Fat Shark. [1009.71] Jack: And that's what with your email, Andy RC. [1012.71] Andy: I thought, Jack, I would never give you my personal email difference. [1021.71] Andy: So no, this is this is why I've become so vocal and why you guys make fun of me [1026.71] Andy: like that I work for Fat Shark. [1028.71] Andy: And that and that was because when when I started because I'm a reviewer, [1032.71] Andy: I use the goggles like way more than they're supposed to. [1035.71] Andy: I use them maybe an hour a day, which is like a crazy heavy user. [1039.71] Jack: What he's trying to say is he likes to watch 3D porn with them. [1044.71] Andy: He just made it even better. [1047.71] Andy: Every time I try to make a serious comment. [1050.71] Andy: Jack. [1053.71] Jack: Is that Miranda? [1055.71] Jack: Do I hear Miranda? [1057.71] Jack: Not yet. [1059.71] Andy: But but but yeah, I think I think Jack's got it right there. [1063.71] Andy: The service when it comes to like repairs and stuff is. [1066.71] Andy: And yeah, I don't know why there is just a lot of negativity regarding Fat Shark. [1074.71] Andy: Maybe it is, you know, one thing that I thought was interest as well is, you know, [1078.71] Andy: you talk about these polls. [1080.71] Andy: Everyone has got their own idea of what the perfect goggle is. [1083.71] Andy: And you can never create that. [1086.71] Tony: Exactly. [1087.71] Tony: Exactly. [1088.71] Tony: Look, I've still got the Dominator V2 with the cup by cups. [1092.71] Tony: I hate the V3s. [1094.71] Tony: Too wide a field of view. [1096.71] Tony: Don't like it. [1097.71] Tony: Don't like the foam padding. [1100.71] Tony: That's too much lighting. [1102.71] Tony: It's sweaty and horrible. [1104.71] Tony: Don't like it. [1105.71] Andy: But then I hate all of those things that Tony likes. [1108.71] Andy: Exactly. [1110.71] Andy: So you can't win. [1112.71] Jack: Yeah, I hate it. [1114.71] Jack: I hate everything Tony likes and everything Tony hates. [1120.71] Jack: Yeah, don't do it because at the end of the day, you'll end up with. [1123.71] Jack: Do you remember the episodes of The Simpsons when Homer builds a car? [1128.71] Jack: That's what you'll end up with. [1131.71] Jack: None of us know. [1132.71] Tony: You can't please everyone. [1133.71] Jack: What we want. [1134.71] Jack: We're worse than the stereotype of women. [1138.71] Jack: And also, now and again, like the Roto Riot chat, Facebook thing, I would class as cancer. [1149.71] Jack: It's getting better. [1151.71] Frank: Is anyone here still actually in there? [1154.71] Jack: Yeah, I'm in it. [1156.71] Jack: So if I was you for Greg's own mental health, don't tell him, but block everything. [1165.71] Jack: Get filters. [1167.71] Jack: Block. [1168.71] Jack: He won't be able to search for his own products. [1171.71] Jack: That's what I'm going to do. [1173.71] Jack: And set his screen savers to kittens. [1176.71] Jack: Send him videos. [1178.71] Jack: It works for me. [1180.71] Jack: Frank. [1182.71] Mr FatShark: I'm just getting some power, guys. [1186.08] Mr FatShark: One second. [1187.08] Mr FatShark: Yeah, no worries. [1188.08] Curry: You certainly can't design by committee. [1190.08] Curry: But if you were taking requests, and I don't know how anybody else feels about this one, [1194.08] Curry: as far as the DVR goes, I'm perfectly happy with the DVR, because if something crashes, [1198.08] Curry: I can use the DVR to get it. [1200.08] Curry: But I want date stamps that work, because when I've gone out for fly-in, and I've done [1204.08] Curry: like several days' worth, and I want to get it down to a video, all the dates are made [1209.08] Curry: up 1970. [1211.08] Curry: I would like actual battery back clock to tell me when I was filming this stuff, so [1217.08] Curry: I knew where it was. [1218.08] Andy: But is that just because you're making videos that way? [1222.08] Andy: Yes. [1223.08] Andy: But you see, not everyone... [1224.08] Andy: I know not everybody does that, but... [1226.08] Andy: I wouldn't like that. [1227.08] Tony: I wouldn't like it, but I'd prefer it if it didn't drop frames. [1232.08] Curry: The thing is, the SD card can hold so much stuff, because they don't take up much space, [1237.08] Curry: do they? [1238.08] Curry: So not having to transfer it to your computer every time, so you know what's what, and having [1243.08] Curry: all this nicely dated stuff would be useful for me. [1246.08] Mr FatShark: Well, so to be clear, we did actually update a few things on this DVR. [1250.08] Mr FatShark: So it's the same chipset that we used before, but we updated a few things in terms of the [1256.08] Mr FatShark: user interface, the way it turns on and turns off, and the way you switch it on and off [1260.08] Mr FatShark: between watching your FPV feed and switching over to the DVR. [1264.08] Mr FatShark: Some of the issues around the DVR related to fidelity, right? [1267.08] Mr FatShark: So I was talking about being flippant around the DVR, and will you use it because it works [1272.08] Mr FatShark: statement, and that's a really complicated statement, because when many DVRs fail, they [1281.08] Mr FatShark: fail catastrophically, and they just turn off, and they can't recover, right? [1285.08] Mr FatShark: So when you've got your TrueD, or your Furious, or whatever, and you're flying around trees [1291.08] Mr FatShark: or long range, and you get that breakup, a lot of DVRs just turn off, and they don't work. [1296.08] Mr FatShark: And so that's one of the reasons we've gone with this DVR. [1298.08] Mr FatShark: But there are things that you can do to improve the performance through better receivers [1304.08] Mr FatShark: and a better interface from the analog to digital converter inside the headset. [1308.08] Mr FatShark: So as you guys see new modules coming to the market now, the ClearView and the RapidFire [1314.08] Mr FatShark: in the next couple of weeks, you're going to see much better DVR performance because [1319.08] Mr FatShark: you're going to get a much better signal going into the goggle. [1322.08] Mr FatShark: So in many ways, it will be improved. [1325.08] Andy: So I think it was Tony that was talking about frames dropping with the DVR. [1331.08] Andy: Has that been improved with the newer version compared to the HD3s? [1336.08] Mr FatShark: It has been improved in terms of we have better filtering on the DVR, and in general, [1343.08] Mr FatShark: you'll get a better signal coming in from the RX so that you won't drop frames [1350.08] Mr FatShark: because of a shitty signal. [1353.08] Mr FatShark: That's a long way of saying, yes, it's improved, but it puts a different DVR in. [1359.08] Andy: Yeah, actually a question that I asked on the livestream, but I forgot to put a question [1364.08] Andy: and mark at the end of it. [1366.08] Andy: So I didn't think you saw it as a question. [1369.08] Andy: But the Fat Shark DVR, if you look at all the goggles, the layout of the DVR is very similar. [1376.08] Andy: And the question I wanted to ask is, is it kind of like a separate product that you sort [1382.08] Andy: of buy in, like anyone else is free to use this DVR? [1387.08] Andy: Or is it the fact that the other companies are just copying what Fat Shark are doing? [1391.08] Mr FatShark: Oh, yeah. [1392.08] Mr FatShark: I mean, they're a supplier. [1393.08] Mr FatShark: I mean, you look at, you know, the comparison I like to make is like, you know, for a Ford car, [1398.08] Mr FatShark: like we buy Michelin tires and Goodrich tires and we add these components in. [1402.08] Mr FatShark: Most of our intellectual property and our design is around actually the optical architecture [1407.08] Mr FatShark: that goes on top of the boards and go on top of the modules. [1410.08] Mr FatShark: So, you know, these OLED modules, for example, everyone's like, oh, you know, you're using [1416.08] Mr FatShark: Shitty's 37 degree field, a few OLED modules. [1419.08] Mr FatShark: These are the same OLED modules that everybody else gets. [1422.08] Mr FatShark: They're from Sony. [1423.08] Mr FatShark: They're 0.3 or 0.4 inches. [1426.08] Mr FatShark: Like we just went to the OLED store and like got them. [1430.08] Mr FatShark: But the special stuff is like the optics and then a lot of the architecture on the boards [1434.08] Mr FatShark: and the way that the headset is manufactured. [1436.08] Mr FatShark: The DVR, yes, is a component. [1439.08] Mr FatShark: And I think Greg was saying this the other day, but like I think somebody was complaining [1443.08] Mr FatShark: the other day about how an E-Sheen DVR was better than the Fat Shark DVR. [1447.08] Mr FatShark: And it turns out it's the exact same component from the exact same supplier because we all [1451.08] Mr FatShark: shop at the same DVR store. [1453.08] Tony: Yeah, apparently there's only one good DVR which everyone uses. [1458.08] Andy: Yeah. [1459.08] Andy: What's interesting about the E-Sheen DVR is that they offer a slightly higher resolution. [1466.08] Andy: So maybe that is an avenue that you can... [1468.08] Andy: Because like I say, the format is exactly the same as Fat Shark, but I think they do [1473.08] Andy: a 1280-720p version. [1477.08] Andy: So maybe it's the case that it maybe drops too many frames. [1480.08] Andy: Did you guys do any sort of research on exploring that avenue, like what E-Sheen have managed [1487.08] Andy: to get out of that chip, I guess? [1489.08] Mr FatShark: Yeah, and that's a good question. [1490.08] Mr FatShark: Like I'd like to know, I don't know this, so I'm not going to ask Greg later. [1493.08] Mr FatShark: But I would like to know why we made the resolution choice that we made. [1497.08] Mr FatShark: Maybe it's just because that's all we can record at a certain frame rate, but I'm not sure. [1502.08] Andy: Yeah, yeah. [1504.08] Jack: It's probably through the battery and processing. [1508.08] Andy: Yeah, also that I found with the E-Sheen ones, they do drop frames, so it could be to do [1513.08] Andy: with that as well. [1514.08] Andy: I think what's interesting about the DVR in general is that its function has changed. [1519.08] Andy: The DVR, if you look back, was originally there only to find lost models. [1524.08] Andy: That was it. [1525.08] Andy: If you threw a battery, it could quickly go through your goggles, rewind and see where [1529.08] Andy: it got to end it up. [1530.08] Andy: That was its only function, so it didn't matter that it was low bit rate, low resolution. [1536.08] Andy: And I think because of YouTube, and this whole entire hobby revolves around getting your [1542.08] Andy: videos on YouTube, it's become something else. [1545.08] Andy: And I think that is why there are so many negative comments regarding the DVR, is people [1553.08] Andy: want higher quality stuff to put on YouTube. [1555.08] Tony: Well, most of the racers want it. [1558.08] Tony: Yeah. [1559.08] Curry: I used to use one of these. [1562.08] Curry: I used to use it in my original Dominator goggles. [1565.08] Curry: I used to shove it in the strap. [1567.08] Curry: And when there was a lot of static, this would lock up. [1571.08] Curry: And the only way of getting out of it is take the battery out and plug it back in. [1575.08] Curry: And you've lost all that footage after it. [1577.08] Curry: So my fact-shout DVR is never locked up before. [1580.08] Curry: So kudos. [1581.08] Mr FatShark: Yeah, neither is mine. [1583.08] Mr FatShark: Well, to Andy's point, I think, I don't know if you guys remember the day when you got [1589.08] Mr FatShark: a smartphone with a camera in the front, and you're like, why would you put a camera in [1592.08] Mr FatShark: the front of your smartphone? [1594.08] Mr FatShark: Because people like to live broadcast, and they like to take pictures of themselves. [1597.08] Mr FatShark: And it's the same thing with DVR footage now, right? [1599.08] Jack: Why is there a camera on the inside of the goggles? [1603.08] Mr FatShark: We actually talked about this. [1604.08] Mr FatShark: We talked about adding a selfie stick to the front of it so you can see yourself. [1607.08] Andy: No, don't do that. [1609.08] Andy: Don't do that, because Skyzone did that, and nobody uses it. [1612.08] Andy: So I think that's a bad thing. [1614.08] Mr FatShark: You're talking about a camera forward. [1615.08] Mr FatShark: I'm talking about a camera to view yourself. [1617.08] Andy: Oh, to view yourself. [1618.08] Andy: Well, use your copter to do that, surely. [1620.08] Frank: Not like a stick cam built into it. [1623.08] Jack: Right. [1626.08] Jack: Sorry, Greg, you were saying something first. [1628.08] Jack: Sorry, there's a good question. [1631.08] Andy: What was that, Jack? [1632.08] Jack: I missed that. [1634.08] Jack: Baby Brett asks, okay, here's a good one. [1639.08] Jack: If you're so concerned about something like field of view, why not have sliders that can [1648.08] Jack: move the screens closer or further, depending on preference? [1654.08] Mr FatShark: That's tough to do in terms of making sure that your eyes remain in the eye box. [1663.08] Mr FatShark: The eye box is something that's like the area in which you can actually perceive and get [1668.08] Mr FatShark: a good image as a function of IPD and then position of the optics back and forth. [1673.08] Mr FatShark: Right. [1674.08] Mr FatShark: So to be able to adjust the focal length intelligently and do it in a way that is not [1679.08] Mr FatShark: difficult on an optomechanical scale is really hard to do. [1685.08] Mr FatShark: It might be doable. [1686.08] Mr FatShark: Again, I mean, I'm not an optical mechanical engineer, but I used to work at Avogon where [1689.08] Mr FatShark: we made these other, the glyph headsets. [1691.08] Mr FatShark: Do you guys remember these things? [1692.08] Mr FatShark: Oh, yeah. [1693.08] Andy: Yeah. [1694.08] Mr FatShark: And we tried to do a lot of stuff like that, too. [1696.08] Mr FatShark: We had the rotating optics so you could adjust the focus, which was pretty fun, but it also [1700.08] Mr FatShark: was really complicated and it drives repairs through the roof and it drives dust through [1707.08] Mr FatShark: the roof. [1708.08] Mr FatShark: So as soon as you have a rotating or moving part over the top of your optic, which would [1711.08] Mr FatShark: be the same thing for changing the field of view, right? [1713.08] Mr FatShark: You like change the field of view by basically adjusting your focal length, right? [1717.08] Mr FatShark: As soon as you have moving parts on top of your optics, then you introduce ways for dust [1722.68] Mr FatShark: and crap to get into your system and then, yeah, repairs go through the roof. [1726.84] Andy: So the answer, I guess, is the size then, really, because fat shots are really compact [1732.56] Andy: and the more optics you try, you know, the more adjustments I saw a lot of the questions [1737.72] Andy: were regarding, oh, the IPD is the same and all this, but then you have to, I guess, [1743.04] Andy: do you have to start making the goggle bigger to accommodate that sort of stuff? [1747.48] Mr FatShark: Yeah. [1748.48] Mr FatShark: The other thing is if you wanted to increase the field of view dramatically, you would [1751.92] Mr FatShark: have to start going outside of the realm of like the dominator form factor. [1756.4] Mr FatShark: And that's fine. [1757.4] Mr FatShark: Like I understand that. [1758.4] Mr FatShark: I mean, I acknowledge that the dominator shell, the V3 and the HD3 shell, I mean, we need [1766.08] Mr FatShark: to move on from that. [1767.8] Mr FatShark: And without saying too much, we're acknowledging that we have to move on from that at some [1773.28] Mr FatShark: point. [1774.28] Mr FatShark: But within that architecture, there's only so much you can do in terms of creating the [1778.64] Mr FatShark: maximum field of view as possible. [1780.88] Tony: There must be a certain field of view, which is just perfect, because when I've put Jack's [1788.28] Tony: goggles on, which are a bigger field of view, I physically have to move my eyeballs around [1795.16] Tony: to check the voltage and things like that. [1797.64] Tony: With my goggles, what the V2, I can just look forward and see them in my peripheral view [1804.12] Tony: and don't have to move them around. [1805.88] Tony: That's what I like. [1806.88] Tony: That's why I do not like the bigger field of view. [1809.36] Tony: Plus, when I'm racing, going through gates, it's better to have that field of view than [1815.4] Tony: that. [1816.4] Tony: Yeah, the vertical. [1817.4] Tony: So for me... [1818.4] Mr FatShark: Yeah. [1819.4] Mr FatShark: I think that's fine. [1820.4] Mr FatShark: Go ahead. [1821.64] Tony: No, I was just saying, is there a perfect field of view? [1825.48] Jack: He's like an old man, Jack. [1828.52] Jack: He is. [1829.52] Jack: He's like, I like the black and white TV. [1831.48] Jack: It makes snooker more interesting. [1834.52] Curry: I think that perfect thing is different for everyone, though, isn't it? [1837.04] Curry: It's going to be subjective about what people do. [1838.84] Curry: Yeah, that's the problem. [1839.84] Tony: Maybe I should make a freestyle goggle, which is really wide, and a racing goggle and call [1845.44] Tony: them freestyle racing. [1846.92] Tony: Oh, Jesus. [1847.92] Tony: There you go. [1848.92] Tony: That's my idea. [1850.44] Mr FatShark: What I found is that people who like the widest field of view are the people who like to do [1855.48] Mr FatShark: more of tiny whip style flying, when you're just exploring and you want more of an immersive [1861.48] Mr FatShark: experience. [1862.48] Mr FatShark: You want to see the chairs and the tables and the trees around you versus people who [1866.0] Mr FatShark: have racing gates and flying around chicanes and stuff. [1871.48] Mr FatShark: They want a tighter field of view, so they don't have to look around as much, and so [1874.12] Mr FatShark: their reaction time is a little bit lower. [1875.76] Mr FatShark: There you go. [1876.76] Mr FatShark: So that's more of a freestyle, race style goggle. [1878.56] Tony: There you go. [1879.56] Tony: Make a freestyle goggle and call it freestyle goggle and a racing goggle and call it racing [1883.96] Tony: goggle. [1884.96] UNKNOWN: Great. [1885.96] Jack: More work. [1886.96] Andy: I actually just think that I personally, I think the form factor of the dominator is [1893.96] Andy: great as somebody who has to carry them a lot. [1897.24] Andy: I think that's I would rather that than a massive field of view in a big box on my face. [1903.16] Andy: I think what people were expecting was maybe an update to the DVR, maybe slightly more [1907.84] Andy: IPD and the field of view being 37 I think is fine because we're using OLED, so the contrast [1916.12] Andy: is going to be better. [1917.32] Andy: And I think one thing that a lot of people want that is interesting listening to Greg [1922.84] Andy: is a lot of people want switching from 16 by 9 to 4.3, and I thought it was interesting. [1930.68] Andy: Now I think Greg's response to that was, oh, it's wasting pixels, but there are cameras [1936.64] Andy: out there now that do a 16 by 9. [1939.64] Andy: So I think people want that. [1942.76] Andy: I think for me, the perfect setup would be a 4 by 3 native and a cropped 16 by 9 so that [1950.32] Andy: you get the best of both worlds. [1952.0] Andy: But again, everyone's different. [1954.08] Andy: So I think that's what people were expecting from this goggle rather than just updated [1958.36] Andy: screens. [1959.36] Andy: But I really like the fact that it's a little better. [1962.8] Frank: The module bay, as well, people seem pretty happy with that there's more power there and [1967.68] Frank: they're not having to do the mod to get more power to the module bay. [1972.88] Frank: There's people still, I mean, there's Dav in the chat and other people I've seen mentioned [1978.84] Frank: about the power button, the power switch mods. [1984.64] Frank: That's a really popular mod, but there's no switch on the fat sharks. [1990.04] Frank: I think probably one of the big things about that is if you leave your battery in plugged [1997.96] Frank: in and you don't notice it, then your battery dies and everything's gonna go horribly wrong. [2007.44] Mr FatShark: In light of all the power button questions, I was thinking of maybe selling a service [2010.48] Mr FatShark: for like $100 a month. [2012.16] Mr FatShark: I will fly out to whenever you're racing and whenever you want, just give me the audio [2016.6] Mr FatShark: signal and I'll pull the girdle jack out and then when you want to plug it back in, [2021.44] Mr FatShark: I'll just do this. [2023.24] Andy: See I think a switch is a bad idea because if you leave them on, you goggle's cooking [2029.36] Andy: until your battery dies. [2030.96] Andy: So I agree with the pulling out of the power. [2035.04] Andy: The only thing, the only gripe I have is that the audio and the video in and out is right [2041.72] Andy: next to it. [2042.72] Andy: Always find myself when my goggles are on my head trying to plug into the audio jack [2047.24] Andy: instead of the thing. [2049.76] Andy: That's it from testing all the other goggles out. [2052.44] Andy: That's the only thing that I do with fat sharks every single time, but it's a really small [2056.96] Jack: thing. [2057.96] Jack: Standard mail problem. [2058.96] Jack: That's good feedback. [2059.96] Jack: I mean, actually that's true. [2060.96] Mr FatShark: I mean, I want to do a few other things too. [2065.24] Mr FatShark: I kind of want to change the interface for the SD card. [2068.24] Mr FatShark: It's a little bit hard to get into right now. [2071.48] Mr FatShark: There's a lot that we have, I'm at headquarters right now, right? [2074.8] Mr FatShark: So we're in the process of laying out our strategic roadmap for the year. [2078.64] Mr FatShark: We're looking at a lot of features that we want to put into the next generation stuff. [2082.92] Mr FatShark: So pursuant to what I said earlier about us reading all of your feedback, I mean, that [2086.96] Mr FatShark: is getting aggregated right now and all the next generation stuff that is a process and [2091.52] Mr FatShark: is starting right now is going to take that into consideration. [2094.76] Andy: So that was actually going to be my next question. [2097.4] Andy: So is it your, I guess it's maybe too early to say, but just like we had the HDV3, is [2104.08] Andy: there going to be a HDOV2, a HDOV3, or is it too early for that? [2109.92] UNKNOWN: Oh, yeah. [2110.92] Mr FatShark: I mean, there will be, of course, there will be. [2114.32] Mr FatShark: I mean, I think, you know, I would never tell you when the iPhone 11 or 12 was coming out. [2121.26] Mr FatShark: Do you know this information? [2124.62] Mr FatShark: It would be ridiculous for us to not iterate on this HDO. [2128.38] Mr FatShark: I mean, this is the first version of a completely new architecture optically. [2133.98] Mr FatShark: And I think there's so many things we could iterate on to make it better. [2137.94] Mr FatShark: You know, I'm getting the feeling that a lot of people are looking for like an order of [2141.82] Mr FatShark: magnitude improvement in quality and UX. [2144.98] Mr FatShark: And I'm not sure if that's ever going to happen for Fat Shark. [2146.9] Mr FatShark: I'm not sure if you're ever going to get, you know, we're at the Toyota Camry phase [2150.86] Mr FatShark: right now. [2151.86] Mr FatShark: I don't think we're ever going to just jump to a Lamborghini one day. [2155.02] Mr FatShark: But I think that Greg's development process and our company philosophy is to continue [2161.26] Mr FatShark: to build and iterate, take feedback. [2163.9] Mr FatShark: And there will definitely be later versions of the OLED module. [2169.42] Frank: It is funny that you mentioned Apple, because I think it is the same thing as there has [2174.34] Frank: been the criticism of the iPhone. [2177.82] Frank: After some point that it's got to the point where the Fat Shark design is what the Fat [2183.94] Frank: Shark design is, is like it is optimized. [2187.54] Frank: It is what you've been aiming for. [2190.1] Frank: So it's not going to there's not going to be a massive step change after that. [2194.06] Frank: Yeah, it is iteration after that point. [2196.74] Mr FatShark: Yeah, I mean, we're not going to keep this exact same shell forever. [2199.74] Mr FatShark: I do realize that there are IPD constraints with it. [2202.46] Mr FatShark: We'd like there to be a wider IPD. [2204.46] Mr FatShark: It's tough to get too much narrower because if you do, the modules will start to hit your [2208.7] Mr FatShark: nose and it's hard to put a case around it. [2210.9] Mr FatShark: But, yeah, I mean, I I acknowledge that I think later generations will look towards [2219.9] Mr FatShark: different styles of headset that fit a wider range of people. [2224.18] Mr FatShark: I mean, people get so mad at me for having a lower field of view, high quality glago. [2230.02] Mr FatShark: And I'm like, why don't you like the transformers? [2232.3] Mr FatShark: I mean, those are massive field of view. [2234.46] Mr FatShark: And they're like, I don't want to fly box goggles. [2240.78] Mr FatShark: But, yeah, I mean, the other comparison, though, is, yeah, somebody in RC groups the other [2244.7] Mr FatShark: day, we have this long thread in RC groups of people who are actively angry and happy [2249.74] Mr FatShark: about the HDO and someone's like, well, Fetcharks turned into Apple and they just crammed [2255.18] Mr FatShark: these new displays down our throats and they expect us to buy them. [2259.3] Mr FatShark: And they're just Apple and they don't care about anybody anymore. [2261.78] Mr FatShark: And I was going to respond, great, I would love to be compared to Apple. [2267.78] Jack: But I really, I really wouldn't like watch [2273.86] Jack: Rossman Rossman. [2275.1] Jack: Is it Rossman? [2276.06] Jack: Rossman like watch his videos and you're just like, wow. [2281.98] Jack: Like Apple, I used to be like such an Apple fanboy. [2286.78] Jack: And then all of a sudden, like I was like, touch bar. [2291.58] Jack: Yeah, but I can't like you've sold my RAM onto my board. [2297.58] Jack: Sure. [2298.9] Mr FatShark: No, I agree. [2299.54] Mr FatShark: Like, I mean, the points that this guy was making is that, you know, he thinks we're [2302.94] Mr FatShark: cramming technology down people's throats that they don't want. [2305.1] Mr FatShark: And I never wanted to be perceived like that to not listen. [2308.14] Mr FatShark: But it's just funny because like Apple has like, what, 70 trillion dollars of cash in [2312.58] Mr FatShark: the bank? And I would say that's a pretty successful company. [2316.02] Andy: So I know a question that came up a lot as well. [2320.54] Andy: Is the HDO replacing the HD3 or are they going to run alongside each other? [2327.58] Andy: And is there going to be a HDO core? [2332.3] Mr FatShark: So the HD3 core is effectively a cost down version of the HD3, which so it's it's really [2340.78] Mr FatShark: hard to ship lipo batteries because you have to do a bunch of aspect compliant stuff. [2346.66] Mr FatShark: And so you can actually save a lot of money off the bill of materials if you take the [2350.82] Mr FatShark: lipo battery out and you use like the battery case instead and just empower people to buy [2354.9] Mr FatShark: there on 18650s. [2356.02] Mr FatShark: So what we did is we costed down the SKU. [2358.38] Mr FatShark: We made it a little bit more affordable and now it's 399. [2360.78] Mr FatShark: And it's effectively an HD3 with like slowly different accessories. [2364.58] Mr FatShark: That is still so well, people love it a lot. [2367.02] Mr FatShark: And we want to make sure that that keeps going. [2370.46] Mr FatShark: So we're going to leave that for now. [2371.86] Mr FatShark: We're going to continue to manufacture it. [2374.02] Mr FatShark: I just took a look at inventory today and we just ran out of them in fact, a shortage soon. [2382.06] Mr FatShark: But we're going to start another production run soon. [2384.74] Mr FatShark: We have to we have to mix that in with HDO production runs and we will support both of those [2390.14] Mr FatShark: two for as long as there is demand. [2392.94] Andy: So in a way you could say that the release of the HDO has done wonders for the HD3 sales [2398.46] Andy: when it comes to, you know, it's like a positive thing that's that's come out into it. [2406.94] Mr FatShark: It's either that or we just didn't manage our factor cubes. [2411.78] Tony: I've seen a lot of people selling their fat sharks. [2415.74] Mr FatShark: Yeah, I mean, what I've heard is that a lot of people are interested in updating their V3s [2421.18] Mr FatShark: and their V2s to the HDOs. [2424.98] Mr FatShark: And a lot of people have had their HD3s are a little bit more cautious. [2428.9] Mr FatShark: And I think that's fair. [2429.9] Mr FatShark: I've seen a lot of reviews out there. [2431.06] Mr FatShark: People were like, you know, it's a step up from the HD3 to the HDO in terms of fidelity. [2438.02] Mr FatShark: But if you really love that field of view, then then don't do it. [2440.74] Mr FatShark: And that makes total sense. [2442.02] Mr FatShark: I mean, I think that's fair. [2443.62] Mr FatShark: And I think that we have a goggle that works really well for hardcore, if they'll be people [2449.78] Mr FatShark: and hardcore fidelity people. [2451.46] Tony: I watched Oscar Lang's video of the two different. [2455.62] Tony: He put a video up and you can you can see the difference in his video that he put up. [2461.26] Tony: It looks it looks a lot crisper and nicer. [2464.66] Tony: And oh, yeah. [2465.78] Mr FatShark: I mean, look, when you guys get your HDO. [2468.5] Tony: Yeah. Oh, you're going to send us some for free. [2471.86] Tony: Thank you. [2473.5] Mr FatShark: I don't think I saw this yesterday. [2474.94] Mr FatShark: I took a ton of shit for giving HDOs away to a couple of reviewers. [2478.78] Mr FatShark: And what did you expect me to do? [2480.18] Mr FatShark: I mean, these guys are the best in their field. [2481.86] Mr FatShark: I give them hardware to review before the technology comes out so we can get some authentic [2488.1] Mr FatShark: reviews. And they're like fat sharks giving away too much free stuff. [2492.06] Mr FatShark: They're jerks. [2494.14] Andy: I get it all the time being a reviewer. [2496.62] Andy: I always get comments saying, why the hell did you get that before paying customer? [2501.02] Andy: I'm like, yeah, because, you know, it's I have the experience of working with these and you [2507.14] Andy: have an audience and, you know, it gets the word out there. [2512.58] Mr FatShark: Yeah, I, you know, it's you just want to work with people who know their stuff and who are [2517.86] Mr FatShark: respected. And it's not like I'm paying people. [2521.02] Mr FatShark: It's not like I'm like trying to bribe people. [2524.7] Mr FatShark: But look, I mean, I need to send out a free goggle for someone to get a good early look at [2528.74] Mr FatShark: something. Fine. Anyway, the point I was making was when you guys do get the chance to fly [2534.34] Mr FatShark: out the HDO, I think the best experiences that people have had is when they're actually [2538.3] Mr FatShark: flying. So if you put it on side by side with the HD3, you're going to be like, OK, you know, [2544.06] Mr FatShark: this looks OK. It looks a little bit better. [2545.7] Mr FatShark: But then as soon as you start flying, there's a guy named Colby Critola in San Francisco. [2551.26] Mr FatShark: He just posted a review like two or three hours ago and he is zipping through gates. [2556.34] Mr FatShark: And he's like, as soon as you start to focus on like far term features like gates that are [2562.54] Mr FatShark: far away or details that are far away and like be able to resolve those with your eyes, you [2569.06] Mr FatShark: could see that there's a huge difference with the OLED versus an LCD screen. [2574.5] Curry: So do you actually find, again, a little bit like Apple, where people might upgrade their [2578.42] Curry: iPhones, that people are coming and actually upgrading goggles? [2581.06] Curry: Because I have to admit, I went from my original Dominators to the Dominator V3s. [2585.26] Curry: But I've stuck on those because they just work and they do everything I want. [2589.5] Curry: Of course, I'd like to go out and buy some OLED ones, but I'd have to say that for quite a while, like [2595.26] Curry: many people. So is it just a case of people always like, yeah, yeah, let's upgrade. [2599.34] Curry: Let's upgrade to the next one. [2600.38] Curry: Or are they kind of hanging on to them? [2602.26] Curry: And I guess you want people not to hang on to them and buy the new stuff, don't you? [2606.1] Mr FatShark: That's right. You know, it's a little bit of a mixture. [2609.42] Mr FatShark: I mean, I think a lot of people are still still have their V3s and their V2s from several [2614.7] Mr FatShark: years ago. And I found a little bit of an every other cycle with something like this. [2619.46] Mr FatShark: So a lot of people before the HD3 phase have really been interested in the HDO and have [2625.46] Mr FatShark: upgraded. But for HD3 people, they've been a little bit more cautious. [2629.9] Mr FatShark: I don't encourage anybody to just drop their HD3 and then order an HDO without looking. [2634.9] Jack: I mean, you're not being like Apple. [2636.9] Jack: You're meant to have a trading screen scheme. [2641.82] Jack: You're meant to have graphics chips that fail. [2646.02] Jack: Just slow it down. [2646.9] Andy: You have a button that just makes them blow up when an end product comes out. [2652.62] Jack: You need a fingerprint locking device so that if you have it repaired by someone unofficial, [2658.94] Jack: then you can't get access to your own goggles. [2662.5] Jack: The other like classic thing to do is to only have certified service centers and not sell [2676.58] Jack: anyone parts. [2679.62] Jack: Yeah. And then you put up nets in case Greg wants to kill himself. [2687.7] Tony: I think you lot at Fat Sharks are just chill, right? [2695.06] Tony: Just let all the stuff come in. [2697.14] Tony: At the end of the day, you're the top dogs. [2699.22] Tony: Everyone rocks Fat Sharks. [2701.34] Tony: People are going to buy them. [2704.18] Tony: You're the best in the business and just keep doing what you're doing. [2707.54] Tony: That's what I think. [2708.18] Jack: Don't listen to these thick of fans. [2709.78] Jack: They just want free goggles. [2711.58] Mr FatShark: Maybe if you could jump up on our Facebook pages and our Rotoraya pages or everyone's [2716.7] Mr FatShark: sitting on us and say the same thing. [2718.18] Mr FatShark: I do appreciate it. [2719.18] Tony: Just why? [2720.34] Tony: Honestly, it's just a thing. [2723.46] Mr FatShark: Yeah. [2723.78] Mr FatShark: And look, we want to take people's feedback seriously. [2725.94] Mr FatShark: So I don't want people to think that we're ignoring them or we're just releasing whatever we want. [2728.94] Mr FatShark: People need to have context in the hobbyist. [2731.62] Andy: We've got a question here by Marty Scruggs. [2734.38] Andy: I'm not sure if Grant's going to know the answer because you have engineers at Fat Shark [2740.74] Andy: that might know this. [2742.34] Andy: But Isshin released a goggle called the EV100 and it had a diopter adjuster built into it. [2750.42] Andy: So you know how Fat Shark you slide the diopters in if you're short sighted, you've got minus [2756.02] Andy: two, minus four, minus six. [2757.82] Andy: Isshin came up with a system in the EV100 where you had a little scroll wheel. [2763.22] Andy: And what that did was all the way up to minus six, it focused the screens. [2767.78] Andy: But if you don't know the answer to, like, if where the Fat Shark went down, [2778.02] Andy: looked at that avenue, I think I might know the answer. [2781.62] Andy: I don't know the answer. [2783.14] Andy: You don't know the answer. [2784.1] Andy: Well, my perception of that is that the EV100 just had a ridiculously small field of view. [2792.66] Andy: It was like they said it was 28. [2794.66] Andy: It was like 20, 20. [2797.54] Andy: And I would imagine that in order to be able to get that technology into the goggle, [2802.42] Andy: they really had to shrink the field of view to fit that in there. [2805.86] Andy: So I would say that is probably, you know, so what's it say? [2811.38] Andy: Comment on the Isshin's focus wheel. [2813.54] Andy: I would say that's probably why Fat Sharks don't have that because it would, [2817.94] Andy: you'd really be compromised in the field of view at a guess. [2821.38] Mr FatShark: I do believe that you have to change the optical stack in order to change the magnification, [2826.18] Mr FatShark: i.e. change the focus. [2829.7] Mr FatShark: And to do that, you need a fair amount of real estate, not just this way, [2833.7] Mr FatShark: but this way, back and forth. [2835.7] Mr FatShark: And it makes it really hard to fit a lot of stuff inside of the goggle. [2838.82] Mr FatShark: I mean, I can ask Al in a little bit here, but I think that's the problem. [2844.9] Jack: How many people whinging, do you reckon, like, remember the days of the teleporter V1s? [2851.22] Jack: And, man, I hated those. [2854.5] Jack: Like, I'm sorry. [2855.62] Mr FatShark: I still see a lot of them out there, actually. [2857.22] Mr FatShark: Like, I'll go to like a school or like a church or something where they do like small FPV events [2861.3] Mr FatShark: and they would have bought 100 teleporters. [2863.62] Mr FatShark: And I'm like, these are not good for anybody. [2867.46] Jack: I literally want to set light to them. [2871.3] Jack: Like, I'm sorry, but, you know, back then they were like, [2875.38] Jack: but I owned Dom V1s, man. [2877.46] Jack: And I've never met anything that, like, other than my Dyson, Hoover, [2884.02] Jack: can extract dust quite like they could. [2887.86] Jack: But they were lovely. [2889.3] Jack: Like, I did like them, but, man, they were like... [2893.3] Jack: Yeah, they did get dust that I do. [2895.06] Jack: They were just unreal. [2896.82] Jack: Like, you know, they were just magnet, dust magnets. [2901.78] Tony: Can you take the faceplate off and put on the new goggles that you got? [2906.74] Jack: Yeah, it's the same shell. [2907.7] Jack: He said that. [2909.46] Jack: Okay. [2909.7] Jack: Sorry. [2910.9] Andy: Well, we should ask for Tony's benefit. [2914.5] Andy: Are the surround... [2916.98] Andy: Is it pleather or is it real leather? [2920.02] Mr FatShark: It is pleather. [2921.78] Mr FatShark: E-leather. [2922.5] Mr FatShark: Vegan leather. [2923.78] Andy: Well done. [2924.5] Jack: That's not very apple of you. [2927.06] Andy: I love that shark even more now. [2929.06] Andy: Tony's a vegan, so I thought I'd ask that question. [2932.42] Mr FatShark: You can get that pleather with the Dominator and Attitude Fit Kit, too. [2936.9] Mr FatShark: So you can get them for your girl. [2938.58] Andy: I think that's going to be really popular, [2940.42] Andy: because the one thing I don't like about the faceplate [2943.54] Andy: is that foam that just absorbs. [2945.86] Andy: It just sucks in all of the stuff. [2948.58] Jack: I like the foam. [2950.02] Jack: Oh, yeah. [2950.66] Jack: I don't like that the foam cover bit comes loose, right? [2954.58] Jack: It does, yeah. [2955.86] Jack: And then I've got bits of foam. [2957.78] Tony: Wear my goggles, Jack says, and it's just... [2960.58] Tony: You can wring them out with sweat. [2962.82] Jack: Good. It keeps you away from my things. [2964.74] Andy: The thing is, anything that you're going to be moving [2967.3] Andy: on and off of your face is going to wear. [2969.38] Andy: I have no doubt that the leather will wear as well, [2972.42] Andy: but you'll be able to buy it. [2974.5] Andy: Not the other pleather here. [2977.7] Andy: I think that'll always be a problem. [2979.3] Andy: It just looks more comfortable, [2980.82] Andy: and you could probably wipe it off easier, I think. [2984.9] Frank: I've got an actual idea about the whole power switch thing. [2989.38] Frank: How about an LED that points downwards from the goggles, [2994.82] Frank: so when you've got it on your forehead, [2996.9] Frank: you can see whether it's still plugged in or not. [2999.54] Frank: Like, it just shines a light at you being like, [3002.02] Frank: by the way, it's still plugged in. [3003.86] Andy: Well, doesn't the DVR do that, though? [3005.62] Andy: It's got a red light on it. [3008.26] Jack: Frank, you're a genius. [3009.86] Jack: What you need is inactivity alarm. [3013.54] Jack: Point the nearest, most enlightening dinner lady you can, [3018.26] Jack: right, in her most disgruntled day, [3021.14] Jack: phone her up at four in the morning, [3022.74] Jack: and ask her to say, inactivity alarm. [3027.78] Andy: So, just so Grant's aware, [3029.14] Andy: we now want him to produce a pair of goggles [3032.9] Andy: that talk to you. [3034.42] Jack: No, never. [3036.26] Jack: See what I mean? [3036.9] Jack: The homer, the homer part. [3038.18] Andy: This is why they can never make the... [3040.42] Andy: You're absolutely right. [3041.54] Tony: The worst thing about putting a fat shark goggle in [3044.26] Tony: is finding the battery hole. [3049.7] Jack: No, there's a reason for that, [3052.42] Jack: is that they released a wire kit, [3055.7] Jack: and you could have an external battery, [3057.54] Jack: and that's why they're next to each other. [3059.62] Tony: Yeah, I like the existing battery bit, [3062.02] Tony: but trying to find that old man. [3064.66] Tony: That comes from the Dominator SE series. [3069.86] Tony: It's like I've been off the game for a few years, [3071.78] Curry: you know what I mean? [3074.02] Curry: For me, I need idiot protection on the buttons. [3076.82] Curry: I've been out flying. [3077.78] Curry: I was like, oh, I didn't start my DVR, [3079.54] Curry: and I clicked this way, [3080.98] Curry: and then suddenly it went to 3D mode, [3082.5] Curry: because I clicked the wrong button. [3083.78] Curry: But, you know, some sort of idiot proofing for me [3086.02] Curry: would be useful. [3087.46] Mr FatShark: Yeah, so I think with that a little bit, [3090.66] Mr FatShark: A, it doesn't have 3D mode, [3092.02] Mr FatShark: but B, I do believe that the DVR is a little bit more evident [3094.9] Mr FatShark: when you turn it on and off. [3096.1] Tony: Oh, so, say what I mean. [3102.74] Andy: What? [3105.14] Andy: You broke up there, Tony, [3106.34] Andy: but the question I was asking [3107.46] Andy: said that OLED doesn't have the 3D option in it, [3109.7] Andy: like the HD3s. [3111.3] Andy: That's correct. [3112.02] Andy: Yeah, I didn't know that. [3114.1] Andy: Another thing I wanted to ask as well is- [3116.1] Andy: He's not buying them. [3118.1] Andy: No, no, no, I probably will, [3120.98] Andy: as I said to him already. [3122.98] Andy: It's got HDMI in, [3125.94] Andy: and the HD3s, when you plugged HDMI in, [3128.26] Andy: went to 16 by 9. [3130.02] Andy: Do you know if that's the case [3131.14] Andy: with these new OLED ones, [3132.9] Andy: with them being an HD screen, you know? [3135.78] Andy: You know, I don't actually. [3138.58] Andy: I feel like it should, but- [3140.42] Andy: Yeah, I'm not sure. [3141.54] Andy: That's the one thing I couldn't take away [3143.3] Andy: from any of the reviews that came out, [3145.06] Andy: and I should be seeing a pair tomorrow. [3147.62] Andy: So I'm gonna see if I can take a look at that. [3151.7] Andy: Let me check real quick. [3156.35] Andy: Because obviously with them being OLED screens [3158.59] Andy: and them being HD, [3160.03] Andy: I mean, that's the other limitation of FPV [3163.31] Andy: is that we're limited to, [3165.71] Andy: what, 500 odd lines with PAL anyways, [3169.87] Andy: and 480 lines with NTSC. [3172.35] Andy: So the big advantage is going to be HD FPV. [3177.23] Andy: People with the, what's it called? [3180.27] Andy: The Konex system and the Phantoms and stuff. [3183.71] Mr FatShark: For the four people left who are still running [3185.79] Mr FatShark: on Konex systems, you'll have a better time. [3188.51] Mr FatShark: Yeah, true. [3188.99] Mr FatShark: That's true. [3189.55] Jack: I mean- [3189.95] Jack: He's getting into the whole let's throw now. [3192.91] Andy: This is how you do let's throw now. [3195.95] Mr FatShark: Well, let's give you guys a little bit of context. [3197.79] Mr FatShark: I mean, we had that base HD goggle, [3200.51] Mr FatShark: which we kind of started fleshing out last year, [3204.43] Mr FatShark: early last year. [3205.39] Mr FatShark: And that's based on an Elcos chipset, [3207.63] Mr FatShark: which is liquid crystal on silicon. [3209.71] Mr FatShark: It's like super HD and it's all digital. [3212.75] Mr FatShark: So you can only do HDMI in, [3215.23] Mr FatShark: but what we found is like not enough people want to buy them [3217.71] Mr FatShark: because not enough people are flying digital. [3219.39] Mr FatShark: They're just not confident enough in whatever's out there, [3221.71] Mr FatShark: whether that's Konex or whatever. [3224.19] Mr FatShark: And it just never was commercially viable to make them. [3227.71] Mr FatShark: So, I mean, the HD, HDMI in on the HDO is, [3234.59] Mr FatShark: it should produce an awesome image [3236.43] Mr FatShark: for anybody who watches HD video. [3238.91] Mr FatShark: But I'm a little bit worried that that's shrinking every day. [3243.95] Andy: Yeah, I think Ledred plugged his into the computer [3246.51] Andy: and just went, oh, wow, [3247.71] Andy: then it could like you can you can do that with HDMI. [3252.11] Andy: So yeah, I think but when it comes to what we do, [3255.39] Andy: but I very rarely plug the Phantom into my fat shocks. [3259.07] Andy: But when I do it, it looks fantastic there. [3261.55] Andy: So I think, yeah, you're going to be able to do that. [3265.63] Andy: A question I had as well, [3267.15] Andy: I know we're coming up, we're coming up to the hour. [3268.99] Andy: So you know, you're probably exhausted from from all of this. [3273.07] Jack: No, he's had to deal with the rote a riot page. [3277.23] Andy: Yeah, I don't want to feel like like we're grilling them [3279.47] Andy: because I appreciate him coming on here and chatting to us. [3282.91] Andy: But yeah, there was we talked about it earlier. [3286.03] Andy: People concerned about the OLED lifespan, [3289.63] Andy: which I think is daft anyways, [3292.19] Andy: because, you know, like you say, there's so many screens. [3295.23] Andy: And my question is, is fat shark still going to sort of honor [3300.11] Andy: the warranty that it currently does with the LCDs? [3302.91] Andy: Like I've had to replace my LCDs twice in the space of a year. [3308.43] Andy: And is it going to be the same with the OLED screens? [3312.27] Andy: Like you'll get the same service as you do currently. [3314.91] Andy: Or is there like a because there's like a limited life of OLED? [3319.55] Andy: Is that going to change? [3322.03] Mr FatShark: Yeah, so the short answer is, yeah, of course, [3324.19] Mr FatShark: I mean, the warranties, the warranty, it's two years, [3326.03] Mr FatShark: we have three service centers around the world. [3328.43] Mr FatShark: And, you know, we stand by the products. [3330.43] Mr FatShark: But the long answer to that is OLEDs are rated for like tens [3336.75] Mr FatShark: of thousands of hours of service life with no burn in. [3339.63] Mr FatShark: And cinemas have existed for years now. [3343.31] Mr FatShark: Yeah, I've been zero problems with burning on those. [3346.35] Mr FatShark: I'm kind of wondering if people are just like, you know, trying to [3352.19] Mr FatShark: make it sound bad. [3353.55] Mr FatShark: This is one of my conspiracy theories and we launched like, [3355.55] Mr FatShark: why are people shitting on OLED? [3357.63] Andy: I didn't understand that at all. [3359.15] Andy: OLEDs in everything. [3360.35] Andy: It's in phones, it's in viewfinders, you know, [3363.79] Andy: and then I kept seeing these comments. [3365.31] Andy: OLEDs volatile. [3366.27] Andy: I'm like, oh, maybe it is then if this guy's saying that, you know, [3370.03] Andy: I don't think it is. [3371.47] Mr FatShark: I'm just kind of wondering if that's like some Russian campaign to like smear Thatcher. [3377.55] Jack: Run by Putin himself. [3381.31] Jack: Discruncelled employee, Andy Arce. [3384.43] Andy: Yeah, me in disguise. [3386.35] Mr FatShark: I don't know. [3387.71] Mr FatShark: Yeah, well, I think that's great. [3389.71] Mr FatShark: There's always a chance that it could burn in. [3391.47] Mr FatShark: And look, I know there's issues around OSDs [3394.99] Mr FatShark: that are going to be activating those pixels all the time. [3398.11] Mr FatShark: And we wouldn't have developed the product if we didn't think that it could live up [3402.59] Mr FatShark: to the performance standards that we're marketing around it. [3405.07] Mr FatShark: And if it does not live up to that, then we will for sure replace it. [3410.27] Mr FatShark: We'll support it under the warranty. [3412.67] Andy: So how long have you guys been testing OLED for? [3415.31] Andy: I take it. [3415.79] Andy: It's been quite a while. [3418.11] Mr FatShark: Yeah, a lot of people have had them for six, eight months. [3421.23] Mr FatShark: Greg has been flying them for well over a year. [3426.11] Mr FatShark: And yeah, they've been great so far. [3427.55] Mr FatShark: Something interesting too, that base HD, those LCOS systems. [3430.67] Mr FatShark: So if you want to do some digging, [3433.79] Mr FatShark: look into any goggle that is actually shipping an LCOS panel. [3439.23] Mr FatShark: Top Sky. [3441.23] Mr FatShark: Sure. [3442.27] Mr FatShark: And you may find that they are going to have some production issues around long-term support [3447.79] Mr FatShark: and maintenance in those LCOS panels. [3449.87] Mr FatShark: Because those are very difficult to engineer and deliver at high yields, [3454.03] Mr FatShark: and very difficult to support long-term without dust and other garbage. [3458.35] Mr FatShark: Yeah. [3459.07] Mr FatShark: They've got repair centers, right? [3460.67] Andy: I know they haven't. [3462.43] Andy: I took my, I received a pair of the Top Skies and had a little speck of dust [3467.87] Andy: on the screens. [3469.63] Andy: I thought, oh, I'll take it apart. [3470.91] Andy: It'll be easy to clean out. [3472.51] Andy: And then I instantly realized that LCOS requires a dustproof environment to build. [3478.51] Andy: And the minute that you compromise that, the goggle's finished. [3484.27] Andy: Yeah. [3484.59] Andy: So yeah, it's an interesting technology, liquid crystal on silicon, [3489.71] Andy: because it uses mirrors to project an image. [3495.71] Mr FatShark: And yeah, it's pretty cheap, too. [3499.63] Mr FatShark: And the thing is, is that all the LCOS manufacturers have been trying to push them [3503.95] Mr FatShark: and get people to develop headsets around them. [3505.87] Mr FatShark: So they're offering deals on like, hey, make a new headset. [3509.23] Mr FatShark: We'll give you these LCOS chips for cheap. [3511.23] Mr FatShark: And it's kind of affected the market a little bit. [3514.43] Mr FatShark: I do want to address one more thing, if I could, before I go, fellows. [3517.87] Mr FatShark: And it's that I've seen a lot of people asking whether we could [3520.99] Mr FatShark: put the glyph technology inside of the dominator shells, too. [3528.03] Mr FatShark: And so I used to work at Abadon, and we made the glyph as well. [3531.87] Mr FatShark: And that technology is something called DLP, or digital light processing. [3536.11] Mr FatShark: It's for Texas Instruments in Texas, obviously. [3541.07] Mr FatShark: So someone hoovering. [3546.19] Mr FatShark: I don't know anything. [3546.99] Mr FatShark: So the problem with DLP, you guys can still hear me okay, right? [3551.87] Mr FatShark: Yeah, we can. [3552.91] Mr FatShark: Okay, yeah. [3553.55] Mr FatShark: The problem with DLP is that it's very expensive on a chip-like chip basis. [3557.79] Frank: What is DLP? [3559.63] Frank: So it's like little micromirrors again. [3561.55] Andy: Actually, it's actually very similar to liquid crystal on silicon. [3566.51] Andy: It's what's used in projectors, and you know how expensive projectors are. [3570.51] Mr FatShark: Yeah, check us in the mail, Andy. [3574.19] Andy: These guys are going to help me even more. [3577.23] Curry: We just call it a payslip. [3579.63] Andy: I know a lot about this technology because I used to repair projectors, [3583.63] Andy: so it fascinated me. [3584.83] Andy: That's why I took apart the LCOS, and that's why I'm fascinated by OLED as well. [3590.75] Andy: So yeah, I'm a big fan of all this technology. [3593.47] Jack: Andy, if you want a dust-free environment, just buy some Dom V1s, mate. [3597.87] Jack: It will sort our right out. [3600.91] Jack: How were they, mate? [3601.87] Jack: Because they had mirrors in as well. [3604.67] Mr FatShark: The glyphs or the DLPs? [3606.51] Jack: No, the fact-shot Dom1s. [3609.87] Jack: Ah, geez, I don't know. [3611.07] Mr FatShark: I think the gram wasn't there, probably. [3612.91] Mr FatShark: Yeah, I think it's the same Koppen LCD module. [3617.87] Mr FatShark: It's just a matter of the optical stack on top of it, [3620.83] Mr FatShark: which may not have been as robust as the current stack. [3625.81] Mr FatShark: Oh, I should finish the DLP thread, though, and that is... [3632.29] Mr FatShark: It's just economically difficult to do it [3635.09] Mr FatShark: without making a goggle that costs, like, $1,200. [3638.77] Mr FatShark: So, I mean, yields are a little bit low when you're creating DLP goggles. [3645.01] Mr FatShark: You end up screwing up one out of three optical stacks that you build, [3648.77] Mr FatShark: so you basically toss the DLP out. [3650.69] Mr FatShark: And then to be able to put it inside of a stack, have no dust, [3654.93] Mr FatShark: and then put all the optics on top of it [3656.85] Mr FatShark: so you get this really great, crisp, clean display [3659.97] Mr FatShark: is very time-consuming and complicated. [3663.97] Mr FatShark: And when you fly with something like that... [3667.65] Mr FatShark: I mean, another answer to the why is there no power switch button [3670.77] Mr FatShark: is when Greg created these goggles, [3673.97] Mr FatShark: he wants them to be as easy as possible [3675.73] Mr FatShark: so that as few things can fail as possible when you're flying. [3679.17] Mr FatShark: Last thing you want is flying 80 miles an hour, [3681.09] Mr FatShark: and, like, some switch gets bumped or something like that. [3684.53] Mr FatShark: And with DLP, it's kind of like that, too. [3687.49] Mr FatShark: You have so many, like, components [3691.25] Mr FatShark: and things that are necessary to create that great image. [3694.93] Mr FatShark: On the glyph, for example, you have those rotating optics, [3698.13] Mr FatShark: but those optics would also rotate out of place when you're flying [3701.49] Mr FatShark: and you would suddenly lose focus and, like, you wouldn't be able to see well. [3705.41] Mr FatShark: And you don't want that level of complexity in a goggle, [3708.53] Mr FatShark: a 1200 goggle, mind you, when you're competing. [3712.13] Mr FatShark: It's just not worth the trade-off for quality. [3717.57] Mr FatShark: Economies of scale is the short answer. [3719.01] Jack: Okay. Frank, anything else? Andy, I see. [3724.05] Andy: My problem is, I could talk all day on this subject. [3728.61] Andy: So, yeah, I'm trying to resist. [3731.65] Jack: I mean, if he's got time, you can, by all means, you guys can do... [3740.21] Mr FatShark: Okay, say hi to you before I let you guys go, okay? [3743.49] Mr FatShark: He's eating some chicken wings right now, so this is perfect time for him. [3747.09] Mr FatShark: No, it's okay. We just got lunch, so... [3750.85] Mr FatShark: Do you know what Andy actually is? [3755.01] Mr FatShark: He should do it. He's on your payroll. [3761.01] Mr FatShark: Oh, well, we just got finished talking about the HTO. [3762.77] Mr FatShark: I gave him a broad update on the technology. [3764.69] Mr FatShark: It was a really nice, good conversation, [3766.77] Mr FatShark: but I just wanted to see you say hi, too. [3769.17] Jack: I don't recognise him without Josh Bixler standing next to him grinning. [3774.29] Jack: Oh, you're being held hostage. [3776.77] Mr FatShark: You guys have any... [3779.01] Mr FatShark: Any mean criticism for Greg now that he's standing right in front of you? [3784.45] Frank: Don't kill yourself, man. [3786.13] Frank: Don't go on to write a page. [3787.57] Andy: I think just what we said before, which is like, try not... [3791.81] Andy: We were saying that there's all these ideas coming in about what the goggle should be, [3795.81] Andy: and everyone has got an idea of what the perfect goggle is, but you cannot make that goggle. [3802.29] Andy: So just keep doing the innovation and try and ignore the negative, I would say, [3810.37] Andy: because at the end of the day, anyone on the flight lines wearing flat sharks, [3816.21] Andy: regardless to what anyone says. [3819.49] Jack: Yeah. [3819.97] Mr FatShark: Like, we don't innovate a lot of that stuff. [3822.77] Mr FatShark: We are working on it. [3823.65] Mr FatShark: The problem is your biggest thing is reliability, [3827.41] Mr FatShark: and you guys trust it. [3828.13] Mr FatShark: You need to use it to get your tools. [3829.73] Mr FatShark: So if we try to roll too much innovation in one go, yeah. [3833.65] Jack: You'll end up killing someone. [3837.49] Jack: If something goes wrong, you're going to blend someone's face off. [3841.89] Mr FatShark: We're not going to stop where we're at. [3843.01] Mr FatShark: So don't worry. [3843.73] Mr FatShark: I'm going to finish this lunch, dude. [3845.33] Mr FatShark: So see you later. [3846.61] Andy: Yeah. [3847.65] Andy: Thanks. [3848.21] Andy: Thanks for that. [3848.85] Andy: That was awesome. [3850.69] Jack: Look after him. [3851.81] Jack: Make sure he's all right. [3855.01] Mr FatShark: We're all working on all the next-gen stuff here. [3860.13] Jack: If you want to feel better, read some of the Let's Show and Out comments, man. [3868.13] Jack: For some of the stuff I say, man, I'm surprised they don't lynch me. [3872.61] Mr FatShark: I mean, look at the comment section. [3874.05] Mr FatShark: People have been really nice. [3874.85] Mr FatShark: So I mean, I guess to them before I go for the community, I mean, [3878.61] Mr FatShark: look, fat shark, we're doing our best to ingest as much feedback as possible. [3883.17] Mr FatShark: I'd encourage you to fly the HDO before you ingest too many critical reviews of it [3887.97] Mr FatShark: because it's a great flight experience. [3889.17] Mr FatShark: But yeah, I mean, if you have any criticism, drop it in. [3891.33] Mr FatShark: We'll read it for sure. [3892.21] Mr FatShark: Yeah. [3892.69] Frank: Do we know if anyone's bringing a pair to Mini Air Show? [3896.05] Andy: I think Painless has come into Mini Air Show. [3899.81] Andy: And so I'll ask him. [3901.73] Andy: I'm seeing him tomorrow. [3903.01] Andy: So I'll ask him if he'll bring them to Mini Air Show. [3905.73] Frank: And see if he can pass them around. [3907.57] Frank: Yeah. [3908.05] Frank: Yeah. [3909.65] Andy: Also, is there anywhere that people can sort of... [3912.45] Andy: You talked about listening to the community about [3915.49] Andy: what people want from a goggle. [3916.85] Andy: And you talked about polls and stuff like that. [3919.25] Andy: Is there any one place that you would like people to go to [3922.69] Andy: to give these sort of ideas? [3926.13] Mr FatShark: Yeah. [3926.37] Mr FatShark: I mean, it seems like the best growing community right now is the community hub and Fat Shark. [3931.89] Mr FatShark: So if you go to Fat Shark's Facebook group, basically, there is a link to our community [3939.65] Mr FatShark: group, which is a place for people to just talk about their goggles and what they like [3943.01] Mr FatShark: and don't like. [3943.57] Mr FatShark: And kind of for me to give updates and stuff like that. [3946.05] Mr FatShark: It's like a totally open forum for people to communicate. [3950.93] Curry: Just asked to join. [3952.21] Curry: Membership pending so I can give you my long list of features that you can ignore. [3958.13] Mr FatShark: I'm going to go reject this. [3963.17] Jack: Would you like to know the results of the straw poll? [3966.21] Andy: I didn't know we were doing a straw poll. [3967.97] Andy: What was it? [3969.25] Jack: I asked what type of goggles do you have? [3971.97] Jack: And would you like to know who the winner was? [3976.93] Curry: If it's not Fat Shark, this could be awkward. [3979.89] Jack: It is Fat Shark. [3980.93] Jack: So tell Greg to put like one more foot back on the stall. [3985.41] Jack: And then the next. [3987.01] Jack: So 67% Fat Shark's, 22% box goggles, and 11%, no, 10% because Tony [3996.29] Jack: and Andy RC just voted. [4000.53] Andy: I haven't voted. [4002.61] Andy: I didn't realise you were doing it. [4004.37] Jack: Fat Shark are winning 73. [4007.01] Jack: It's increasing the lead, yeah. [4010.61] Jack: I didn't vote either. [4014.69] Andy: Can we put this Facebook page in the chat? [4020.77] Andy: Yes, please, I would love that. [4022.45] Andy: Please zero if you're still listening. [4025.09] Andy: Has somebody done that already? [4027.41] Andy: Has anyone got any more questions for Grant? [4030.05] Andy: Or are we all Fat Sharked out? [4033.25] Mr FatShark: I actually have to step away in a second here too. [4035.17] Mr FatShark: So yeah, I think we've already got them. [4039.09] Jack: Thank you. [4039.57] Jack: You've been listening to Let Shrown Out. [4040.77] Jack: We've been joined by and powered by Andrew slash Frank. [4045.25] Jack: Goodbye. [4047.17] Jack: Andy RC, the head of Fat Shark. [4051.57] Andy: Thanks for listening and watching on YouTube. [4053.65] Andy: Cheers. [4054.77] Jack: Tony, you're going to have to unmute yourself. [4059.33] Jack: I can't unmute you. [4060.53] Andy: You've got a nude idea. [4061.81] Jack: Unmute yourself. [4065.41] Jack: And Kerry Kitten. [4066.85] Jack: Hello and goodbye. [4068.29] Jack: And Grant from Fat Shark. [4070.21] Mr FatShark: Bye guys, thanks for everything. [4071.49] Jack: Thank you so much for coming on. [4072.85] Jack: Really appreciate it. [4073.97] Jack: It's real. [4075.09] Jack: I know it's supposed to be the other way around, [4076.77] Jack: but as a B-Ray podcast, [4079.89] Jack: I'm really honored by your presence and waste of time. [4085.33] Mr FatShark: That was a lot of fun coming on, guys. [4086.53] Mr FatShark: I appreciate it. [4087.41] Mr FatShark: Anytime, all right? [4088.45] Jack: Yeah. [4088.69] Jack: Oh, thank you. [4089.89] Jack: Cool. [4090.61] Jack: Good night. [4091.57] Jack: Take care, guys. [4092.53] Andy: Cheers. [4094.77] UNKNOWN: Telemetry lost.
