[316.53] Curry: mine is like a full size and way 200 milliwatts like and it's not a big camera. It was like a
[323.89] Curry: mini camera, but they didn't have even had the all in one camera sense. So you can already see
[328.05] Curry: how things have moved along just in a little while. Even things like that. I'm very, yeah,
[334.29] Lee: I'm very impressed with that little crawl. I've never really had a radio controlled car. And it
[338.85] Lee: was just one of those. It's only like 70 quid. I thought I'd get one. And man, it's so cool.

[349.01] Lee: maybe nitro car, because I want to use it to launch planes off the back of that. I've got

[368.29] Jack: and I've got a aircraft carrier. I'm gonna try and land on it. As soon as I've done it, you can
[374.53] Lee: have the garden back. What you don't know, Jack, is at the bottom of my garden is a canal. So,
[380.37] Lee: you know, we're all it's already gonna happen. We're there. You just need to come up, mate,

[422.37] Lee: and interact with them and start things happening, the the 100,000 subscriber milestone comes and
[427.97] Lee: goes and you kind of sat there waiting for your email from YouTube. So congratulations, and you
[432.69] Lee: don't get anything. So I had three weeks up there thinking, I've been quite ignorant. I haven't got
[437.65] Lee: into it. I thought I'd barely bearing in mind, I had a phone call from YouTube about 16,000
[443.41] Lee: subscribers ago with the Oh, you okay? Do you need any help? You know, your channels growing,
[448.53] Lee: blah, blah, blah. When you pass 100k, you'll get like a nominated concierge to support you. And
[454.37] Lee: it was like, Oh, great. Yeah, fantastic. So I'm thinking, never go back. Yeah. I'm gonna get a
[460.45] Lee: call at 100k, right? Nothing, not an email nada yet. So, so in the end, I did the you can go online
[467.17] Lee: in the chat thing and kind of went, um, what's going on? So the so the guy, first of all, the
[474.53] Lee: channel has to be turned into something like an authorized channel, you know, sometimes you go on
[478.45] Lee: there's like, yeah, that's it, right? No, I didn't know anything about that. So apparently that has
[483.89] Lee: to be done first. And then the the check to make sure whether or not you've passed 100k and you're
[490.29] Lee: authorized only happens twice a month, once in the middle of the month, and once at the end.
[494.61] Lee: And if you miss either of those dates, you have to wait another two weeks for you to get caught
[498.61] Lee: again. So it's a very long way of saying, I'm probably going to have my play button at the end
[502.93] Lee: of September. But it does mean I can do another video to show it off. And I'll probably do another
[508.29] Lee: giveaway. But there's a there's a gap. You can't quite see it. I've got the gap ready, right? I've
[514.45] Lee: had this bit of wall ready for about three months. And I'm gonna have to wait at least another four
[519.73] Lee: weeks, I think, before I get my button. But I'm very excited about it, because it's, it's taken

[567.01] AndyRC: that's, you know, one of the first first ones I watched when I started along with flight tests. So
[573.25] AndyRC: it has an add on effect to that as well. It's more than 100k really. It's, you know,

[764.29] Lee: about on the show tonight, actually, and it's related to something that Andrew slash Frank
[769.41] Lee: or Frank slash Andrew, depending on which article you're reading. Colin and I were talking about,
[777.73] Lee: we were having a chat last week and Andrew was very good. He came on. Some of you have probably
[783.49] Lee: seen it. He did a video with me talking about the changes in legislation and he was great because
[788.53] Lee: every time I'm confused about that stuff, Andrew kind of explains it in a way that kind of makes
[792.53] Lee: sense to me. But anyway, as part of that chat, we were looking at the Air Prox reports. Now,
[799.73] Lee: for those of you that don't know what Air Prox is, these are the reports that pilots submit
[804.85] Lee: when they've had a close call. And so originally they were designed. So if you had two aircraft in
[810.53] Lee: the same airspace and they got a little bit too close to each other, it was recorded and reported.
[814.69] Lee: So corrective action could be taken. And you've probably seen, I think Bruce did a video in about
[821.09] Lee: the last week talking about one that's been reported on in the UK. But if you actually look
[826.05] Lee: at some of the Air Prox reports and Andrew's got the link and we were having a good laugh
[832.53] Lee: because there are genuinely some things in there that I think are potentially drones or UAVs,
[839.73] Lee: whatever you want to call them, flying too close to aircraft or airports. But some of them are
[844.45] Lee: fantastic. And I'm sure that if they'd have been reporting them 10 years ago, they'd have been
[848.77] Lee: reporting UFOs or cigar-shaped weird things in the air. Little green men come to do an anal probe
[856.85] Lee: or something. But seems to be, since drones and UAVs have become a thing in the media, it seems
[863.89] Lee: to be almost the default thing that a pilot will report it as if they're not sure. So one of the
[869.09] Lee: things I wanted to do, if you guys don't mind, is kind of Andrew and I just kind of run through a
[875.89] Lee: couple of these Air Proxes. Is it worthwhile sharing the link, Andrew? So other people can

[1086.85] Frank: to judge it against. Now, as, as we've discussed many times on the show before, it's very hard to
[1093.33] Frank: tell whether something is small or far away. If you don't know how big it is, how can you know
[1100.85] AndyRC: how far away it is? Jack, get the sheep out. It's already here. It never leaves. Tony.

[1135.33] Lee: So then the next one, uh, second of June, uh, reported around London and, uh, both the pilot
[1142.77] Lee: and the passenger, so both of them at the same time. So it wasn't a single hallucination,
[1146.69] Lee: which is good news because they are flying a plane. So a gray and white drone at the same time.
[1152.45] Lee: It appeared to be of a twin ducted fan design. Oh, the only person I know that has a twin ducted
[1163.33] Lee: fan, apart from Skynet, one of the big hunters that Skynet, you know, in Terminator, that's kind
[1168.77] Lee: of the idea. Apart from David Winstall, no drone looks like that. But apparently there's a big one
[1174.21] Lee: and it's in London because it's been recorded, been reported as an air procs.
[1180.77] Lee: Yeah. Hands up. Anybody that's flying the twin ducted fan. This is your opportunity to fess up
[1185.97] Lee: now and, and, and take your punishment. Nobody thought not. Nope. This is why Skyking exists.
[1193.57] Jack: Now that's a really, really weird reference, but I salute you Skyking. Andrew, do you want to do
[1202.45] Lee: another one? You're going to do the A321 pilot on the third of June. That's a cracker as well.

[1216.53] Frank: Brace yourself. So he was climbing up from Doncaster airport and as he saw a drone pass
[1227.09] Frank: very close to the left hand side of the aircraft within a hundred feet and the same level as,
[1231.89] Frank: as the aircraft was at 15,500 feet. Now I don't know who's doing that, but I imagine
[1242.21] Frank: that if they, even if they managed to get that far, their battery, I mean, is about to die.
[1248.85] Frank: It's about to just plummet out the sky because that's just beyond the limit of what anything
[1255.89] Lee: can fly to that I'm aware of. That's a drone. But interestingly, it is reported in the air procs as
[1261.89] Lee: another drone. So, and there are ones, you know, joking aside, there are ones in this list that do
[1266.45] Lee: seem genuine that are things that look like phantoms to near airports, but hopefully you've
[1272.13] Lee: got a sense looking at that list of what Andrew and I were laughing about last week, which is the
[1278.05] Lee: default knee jerk answer for any pilot that sees something that they don't understand is to report
[1283.01] Lee: it as a drone or a UAV and the impact of that, and sorry to kind of use this a little bit of a,
[1288.85] Lee: you know, kind of a soapbox is that that's feeding into the hysteria and legislation that's
[1294.85] Lee: actually affecting us as pilots. So the other thing I wanted to do off this at the top of this
[1300.21] Lee: thing is to say to people, if you haven't already filled in the questionnaire here in the UK
[1305.89] Lee: consultation, it's big, it's long, it's painful. Jack, not talking about you.
[1312.61] AndyRC: Can we just, I'm sorry to interrupt. We've got interrupt, Jacks. Jacks, someone has donated

[1594.77] Frank: on it or something if it does pass a test. I haven't seen that, but the noise regulations
[1601.49] Frank: I've seen are 80 dBA at one meter. Yeah, that's interesting because that's always been the case
[1609.25] AndyRC: as well because being a VMFA member for a long time, it's always been about 80 dB. That's for
[1614.85] AndyRC: nitro aircraft as well. So I would imagine that doctors and drones are way onto that because
[1620.53] Frank: they're electric. I don't think the 80 dBA with the VMFA is at one meter. It's at normal distance.

[1957.41] Lee: of quads that are a little bit bigger than five inches recently. I have. And I want to talk to
[1962.69] Lee: you about that at some point. But a lot of the frames that are available for people to buy
[1967.49] Lee: are all built for the five inch racing revolution that we're apparently all into.
[1971.89] Lee: So go into manufacturers and say, I want to swing eight, nine, ten each props that look
[1976.61] Lee: at you like you've lost the plots. Now, interestingly, a couple of people I've spoken to
[1981.65] Lee: recently, no names, no pack drill, but a couple of very well known manufacturers are starting to
[1987.49] Lee: look at making frames that have longer arms. So the one behind me is a version of something
[1994.29] Lee: called the BFF frame from fly nostrils. And it's got arms capable of swinging 12 inch props.
[2001.09] Lee: Now with the battery and everything that I'm planning to do, this is kind of a bit of a
[2005.01] Lee: spoiler. So if you don't want to know the results of the next two videos in turn off now,
[2010.61] Lee: spoiler, I'm going to be using a lithium ion battery to power it. And the flight time is going
[2017.41] Lee: to be the best part of 35 minutes. So I am I'm getting I'm really getting into this. So we're
[2023.97] Lee: going to put crossfire on it. And I'm also I'm getting two point four gig FPV stuff in. So we're
[2030.29] Lee: also going to because I'm using crossfire, I can use that as well. So that should be a really
[2035.97] Lee: interesting rig. And the more I get into this stuff, the more fascinated I am. Sorry to

[2079.65] Lee: said, Oh, should I drag my flame wheel out? Yeah, so it's gone full circle, hasn't it?
[2084.53] Lee: It has. Essentially, what I'm building is an ultra lightweight, modern carbon fibre frame wheel.
[2091.17] Lee: And and it's, and it's a lot of fun that it's about 300 grams lighter than a flame wheel. And
[2096.69] Lee: for those of you that are listening that have never seen a flame wheel, I've put pictures in
[2100.13] Lee: my video, because I've spoken to people recently and talked about flame wheels, and they think I'm
[2104.13] Lee: talking about some kind of Honda Civic mod or something. So I've got but they were they were
[2110.13] Lee: horrible, but with what we had on the drivers, they don't say that I'm not Yeah, I'm not going
[2115.49] Lee: to go there. So hello, Tony. And so that so that's one that's coming on, that's going to be carrying

[2157.17] Curry: range were using the 433 long range system, so they could use 2.4 video. And of course,
[2163.33] Curry: emotion I'll say had a big load of stuff and all those old videos from TBS and the like were done
[2169.33] AndyRC: on exactly those sort of systems. Yeah, but what you have to remember, though, is back then,
[2175.09] AndyRC: there was no diversity and furious has got a diversity 2.4 module.
[2181.89] Curry: Well, the long range goes generally use trackers, but it's much easier just to have it on your
[2186.85] Curry: although obviously, the antennas are a bit bigger for 2.4. I mean, skews aren't stupid size,
[2192.29] Curry: but you could certainly wear them on your face. Okay, yeah, then it seems pretty big.
[2196.53] Lee: Yeah, they're not terrible. I've got some antennas coming in. I can't talk about yet,
[2201.49] Lee: because they're not released. But they but it's a 2.4 patch and a very compact 2.4 antennas to go

[3352.62] Lee: any video, but the big screen in the middle that looks like an old iPhone 5 is touch,
[3359.58] Lee: and what they're doing is they're trying to add a graphical touch interface on top of OpenTX,
[3364.78] Lee: because it's running OpenTX, it's OpenTX 2.2 point whatever too,
[3371.18] Lee: and that's the thing that we are constantly getting updates about and testing with,
[3376.3] Lee: and I think it's a really nice idea to, because OpenTX menus are bugger,
[3381.5] Lee: and lots of people just get completely lost in them and just write OpenTX off as a nasty thing.
[3387.18] Lee: The really nice thing about having a screen like this is if they get it right,
[3390.54] Lee: there could be animated full color wizards that you could use to set up your models and to do all
[3397.18] Lee: the set your trims and your channels and your switches.
[3400.22] Lee: If they did that on this, that it would be a killer radio, because you wouldn't have to be
[3404.7] Lee: an OpenTX expert and watch 54 channel videos on YouTube to learn how to do it,
[3409.9] Lee: it could just step you through and no other radio can do that.
[3412.62] Lee: But at the moment, that's the bit, and I don't know if that's coming by the way,
[3415.82] Lee: that's just me making stuff up, but at the moment, we are just testing the software on it,
[3421.82] Lee: but you only get that extra interface if you buy it from underground FPV.
[3428.22] Lee: If you buy them from other places, you're not going to get all that magic secret
[3431.82] Lee: source that they're trying to develop for the radio, and that's one thing that has been
[3436.7] Lee: confusing, and to be honest, I didn't figure it out until I was about two weeks into the

[3442.94] AndyRC: And I think we should say as well that just because I'm playing devil's advocate here,
[3448.62] AndyRC: as I always do, I think even though underground FPV is doing a lot like you say,
[3454.94] AndyRC: their idea is simplifying it, they want it, they have something that's called quad mode,
[3460.7] AndyRC: where it basically just does everything for you, it sets everything up.
[3465.26] AndyRC: However, we all know that OpenTX is great, and it's going to be OpenTX that's on the Banggood,
[3471.1] AndyRC: version, and they're developing that too.
[3475.5] AndyRC: So I don't think just because you didn't buy the underground FPV version that you should
[3480.86] AndyRC: write it off, it's still OpenTX, it still works, it's just that underground FPV
[3490.78] AndyRC: worked on it a little bit more.
[3492.14] AndyRC: So try and think of it as if you buy it from underground FPV, you're going to get this
[3497.74] AndyRC: extra stuff, but it still might be a decent transmitter if you buy it from elsewhere.
