[1307.7] AndyRC: difficult to get everyone wants different things out of a videos and that's why we have to make

[1372.98] AndyRC: you know i was uploading six years ago you'd upload a video and the views the views would
[1377.06] AndyRC: accumulate and stay the same but now this is whatever youtube does is it favors this new
[1383.3] AndyRC: new content and now old stuff is gone you know it's but i think also and it's because um years
[1390.42] Ash: ago there weren't lots of content reviewers so a new product would come out there'd be one or two
[1394.98] Ash: reviews of it and they would be the main few reviews for you know people looking to buy it
[1399.3] Ash: for the weeks after but now a product comes out and someone's reviewing it every single week so
[1404.74] AndyRC: i think that's why i'm not just talking about i'm not just talking about products you know uh 10
[1411.46] AndyRC: years ago i put a music video on youtube and its views would just climb climb climb climb climb
[1418.42] AndyRC: always and it would be a constant and and now uh well actually on that same channel at the time
[1425.46] AndyRC: just it's almost overnight that stopped happening and it's something to do with the way that they
[1431.46] AndyRC: list them like if you if you search for something now like say in the news it'll it'll come come
[1439.54] AndyRC: up as the first thing like because it's recent it's happening now or you know if you type in
[1444.9] AndyRC: casey nice that into youtube his first video that he just posted will come up not his last one not
[1451.54] AndyRC: his most popular one not his most interesting one and so there's been a change in youtube uh
[1458.42] AndyRC: for that which has meant that daily content because you know people are only going to watch
[1464.34] AndyRC: the new stuff got to make new content every single day and the quality is is dropped because of that
[1470.34] Ash: i think um youtube called me the other day which was weird are you sure well you sure it was youtube
[1480.58] Jack: were you were you owed ppi were you receiving windows error messages or was it a nigerian prince
[1488.74] Ash: is that racist it was some greek lady she was from youtube she had a google.com address and only
[1495.14] Ash: youtube employees have google.com addresses but they talk you through your channel and they talk
[1502.26] Ash: you through what you're doing wrong and what you can improve um and she told me that my views were
[1507.7] Ash: primarily from suggested videos that's scary not from organic search or anything like that
[1514.42] Ash: or subscribers but from my video being suggested after someone's watched someone else's i found
[1520.42] Ash: that really depressing and i think that might be why andy as like you'll say my algorithm has
[1524.74] Ash: changed so that your videos are not in search results these days but actually people are
[1529.38] Ash: watching videos as a consequence of it being recommended that they watch it from elsewhere
[1534.66] Curry: um it's interesting isn't it because we i mean like andy's got over 50,000 subscribers but your
[1541.06] Curry: videos don't get 50,000 views which is kind of what you would expect as well as things coming
[1545.94] Curry: in from other places and it's like i think about 10 of views are from subscribed people and the
[1553.14] Curry: rest of it's just coming in from random and then they look at it so i'm not subscribing to this
[1556.66] Curry: crap and then wonder if elsewhere but yeah the suggested views is really high compared to
[1561.54] AndyRC: anything else weird yeah um it's and it's across the board as well um there are there are some
[1568.58] AndyRC: exceptions but if we take pewdiepie for example 62 million uh subscribers but if you look at his
[1576.34] AndyRC: his videos they get like just over a million a day so that's the equivalent of having 60,000
[1582.74] AndyRC: subscribers and getting 1,000 views a day he's got 60 million and getting a million views a day
[1589.94] AndyRC: so it's like it's something not quite right there is the when it comes the subscriber numbers
[1596.42] AndyRC: it's almost like it doesn't mean anything anymore it's something that is weird this some disconnect
[1603.3] AndyRC: and uh i think it definitely got worse when uh google took over for sure but what what nothing
[1609.7] AndyRC: you can do about that it needs it needs a platform to replace it i think that will happen i kind of
[1616.42] AndyRC: feel like it is happening i think everyone's views are down even if you look at the big channels
[1621.46] AndyRC: their views are down um i think people have like maybe you know youtube's becoming the myspace or

[1639.38] AndyRC: watching stuff but i'm getting it on facebook or what uh maybe facebook i know i certainly

[1653.06] Ash: facebook um will start to develop their platform now to steal youtube traffic i think they'll start
[1658.42] Ash: offering content creators much more flexibility because their video platform is horrible
[1662.74] Ash: at the moment but it's getting more and more popular because it's so easy so i think you're
[1666.9] Ash: right youtube are going to lose its edge vimeo seems to have just been left behind a bit
[1672.9] Jack: well like funny enough i got emails from vimeo a while back saying that um you know back in the
[1680.1] Jack: day when you could just put any old music on anything and it was a bit more of a freer thing

[1752.82] Ash: drawing around the world is a um a charity initiative that ken started together with kelly
[1757.94] Ash: from ready set drone um they together bought a dji spark um they've signed it and it's going all
[1765.78] Ash: around the world to lots of different content creators who are all going to sign this dji
[1770.26] Ash: spark as well um donating to a charity called make a wish which is for kids with critical illnesses
[1776.5] Ash: which i think is a really nice one and it's hard to find a charity that everybody sort of believes

[1938.66] Ash: are missing such as precision landing so it lands meters away from where you took off at the moment
[1944.5] Ash: so yeah i wouldn't buy one yet hasn't it got a problem with the gimbal falling apart because
[1949.62] Ash: it's glued on or something that was a one-off issue but yeah it's quite old apparently the
[1954.82] Ash: djo have been using this glue on every single one of their drones so far but yeah one of the
[1958.5] Tony: gimbals silicone stuff the rubbery no i mean some glue all right lotus use glue on their cars
