[0.0] Jack: Hey guys it's Jack here. Big massive shout out to our patreons. So these guys are the guys who donate
[9.76] Jack: for the editing and they really do make a huge difference to keep the show alive.
[17.04] Jack: We've been sponsored by Art Faulkner, Ferdy Evers, Mikey Dread and Under Fluke.
[23.12] Jack: These guys are absolute legends. Thank you so much and see you next show.
[30.48] Jack: Hello and welcome to another episode of Let's Show Now. Tonight we are joined by Andrew Stashrank.
[43.86] Jack: Hello!
[45.86] NJ: NjTak. Good evening. Good evening.
[50.42] Andy: That's not right. What is that? Hello. Oh it's YouTube. That pretty much happens every time anyway.
[59.7] Jack: It's always on you.
[63.22] Jack: Andy R.C. Hello everybody. My favorite curry kitten. Hello I'm all on my own because I smell.
[72.1] Jack: My little Tony. Hello Joel. Sat next to me. Oh god I think I'm gonna vomit and I'm bright until I fly.
[80.58] NJ: Someone's already referenced flight test. Really? This is the start of the video. Oh it's so good.
[87.78] Jack: Doesn't everyone feel the power of Jesus lift their wings? This is way better than flight.
[95.38] Jack: We've all got an individual mask. What I want you to do is buy a lot of foam and join the cult of
[100.74] Andy: Jesus. Am I gonna get in trouble for this? We actually had real fun today as well. We didn't have to be.
[106.66] Jack: We didn't have really fun did we? No one gave me a high five.
[110.58] NJ: So who tuned in from everyone that's on now earlier today to see our live stream from
[119.94] NJ: our quads and us stood in a field having quite a lot of fun actually. Surprising amounts.
[125.54] Curry: A little bit of it. Unfortunately when I was tuned in I noticed that one person was flying
[130.9] Curry: but the streaming rate was very good. Much better than when we tried it in my field.
[135.86] Andy: Yes good. Yeah I think that was probably when I was flying but we did get some time when we were
[142.5] Andy: all flying. I think we were just trying to sort out frequencies and channels and stuff. I think
[147.38] Tony: the most we got was three today streaming hopefully. Yeah three. It was a load of fun
[154.34] Andy: and it looked like it came out well. I want to watch that back fun when I came home because
[160.9] Andy: that's kind of cool. We did some chasing with the ex-class and stuff. That was cool. I chased
[166.18] NJ: the next class today along with Andy. We did that hurricane spitfire flanking the Lancaster.
[174.34] NJ: Yeah it did look good watching it back. Yeah it was pretty epic so we'll get some footage up
[180.9] NJ: probably on the Facebook page. We'll click on that later. That'll be good. Cut that into our
[185.86] Andy: own videos as well. You'll probably see it on all of our channels. It does look like an air show
[192.66] Frank: formation fly pass isn't it? You said it was like something out of Star Wars with the TIE fighters
[200.66] NJ: flanking like some big ship. There was a TIE fighter sound definitely because you had the low
[205.94] NJ: noise of the ex-class and that was on tri-blades wasn't it? That really low kind of noise and then
[213.7] NJ: there was mine which was the six inch on bi-blades and then Andy's was the five inch screamer.
[220.02] NJ: All those frequencies together it just sounded like this TIE fighter. It was cool.
[225.94] Jack: Can't you put your phone to the mic because you've got a muff on yours?
[231.3] NJ: I probably could. I'll do that. Talk amongst yourselves. Well I was really sorry to miss it
[238.74] Curry: especially sounding like hey you had such a good day but you'll have to take me through
[241.94] Curry: in excruciating detail so important questions. Did Frank maiden his radian? Did Andy blow up
[247.86] Andy: any more Kiss ESCs? No. I bought three models expecting them all to explode and I only needed
[258.58] Andy: to bring one because and the Kiss model flew awesome and it had crossfire on it and yeah so.
[266.34] Jack: Surprising really seeing as how wet everything was. It was so moist. I know it was like Enjo was
[272.26] Jack: playing on stage. Even had to get the alcohol spray out. I did have to get the alcohol spray out.
[281.94] Jack: And Frank maiden his radian but what was reversed Frank? Who didn't do his pre-flight checks? I did
[292.5] Frank: the pre-flight checks but just forgot how radians work. That's all. There was one bit that wasn't
[298.42] Andy: caught on video that I wish was and that was when was it you Jack were you circling the glider and
[307.14] Andy: then you must have gotten really close over the top of it and the wing just like bent backwards
[313.78] NJ: while it was in the air. Did any of you? I think everyone missed my first landing.
[323.14] Frank: I was so confident that I was just going to catch it and it just flew straight past me into Enjo.
[329.14] Andy: I was going to say it's a very high weight and it's a safe model and nobody was injured.
[334.1] NJ: We were nowhere near looking. You couldn't tell this was a glass eye.
[340.5] NJ: It weighs nothing but a great fun little glider there. It would be less noisy than what we were
[345.62] Frank: flying. Can you see it just over in that corner? There we go. Oh there you go yeah. It's
[351.94] Frank: literally a little scale bit on the camera. Is that working? It is working but it's kind of
[358.18] Curry: Jack's head is the top of the frame. Oh okay I'm starting. I can only just work out the picture
[363.06] Curry: that I'm looking at the back of Frank's head here and the front of him here. It's like a 360
[368.42] Andy: Frank cam. I like it. Where's that from Andy? Because I love it. It looks a lot fun. This was
[375.14] Andy: from Tower Hobbies? Tower Hobbies. I think. Where are they based? Just a blind purchase but it
[386.1] Andy: I mean we were really lucky as well with the weather. It was perfect weather for today.
[390.26] Andy: Like it was about 10 degrees or something I reckon. Oh at least. Yeah it only really got
[396.34] Andy: cold as it was getting dark as well as we were in the shadows. Zero wind is such a luxury as well.
[402.1] Andy: Yeah I mean that thing was just like that was locked in wasn't it? It was so fun. Yeah
[409.86] Curry: right. I know I did go out today and looked at the weather and I was like wow these are really
[414.1] Curry: good conditions. This makes me feel even worse about not being able to go. I can't rain or
[420.5] Frank: something for you. Yeah there was there was some mist. We had to compete with some mist.
[426.98] NJ: That was what we had to deal with. What was the fine line between mist and fog isn't it?
[432.98] NJ: Because there's no difference. It's a term thing. There's a point of mist is dense enough to
[439.22] Curry: become fog. Resident meteorologists. Is that something to do with chemtrails? Is this why
[444.98] Tony: you've involved Tony? Well whilst I'm at the end of the day so the weather's going to be changeable
[448.9] Andy: tomorrow. Well I drove through some snow on the way down here but and it was like yeah totally
[463.14] Andy: unflyable at my spot but yeah down south it does seem like you do get better weather.
[469.94] Curry: It is grimmer up north. We keep saying it. South of the wall. Yeah exactly. We have got fireworks
[478.58] NJ: if the super chat. A little too many fireworks if I'm honest. Something special for Jack as well.
[485.22] Curry: Yes. I like the idea of Jack holding a firework while all of you are in the room there. This
[489.38] NJ: this makes me happier to not be. There's a lot of wood in this room. There's a lot of wood.
[499.78] Andy: What have you got me? Why should I be scared? What's got to happen? Oh yeah yeah Jack's got
[506.42] Frank: a surprise. I think just the first first donation. Any donation any amount. Give a little surprise to Jack.
[518.34] NJ: How many watches have we got? I don't know. I don't know why. Why is it YouTube chat just
[523.38] NJ: says zero. We know your chat is. We know it's not zero. That's characters. That's
[529.94] NJ: characters that I could type. Sorry. That would be why then. Now I've learned something.
[534.34] NJ: Well at least that didn't look stupid.
[540.98] NJ: This is why we pre-record stuff guys. So we never looked stupid. Anywho.
[546.82] NJ: N.J. you've got a medal. I have. I finally got. So this this medal which I've worn proudly all day
[553.94] NJ: is it's like it's roughly two years old. Two years old. In July 2016. There you go. The first
[561.54] NJ: LDO freestyle games and I won and then was never given my medal and it went into storage. Didn't
[569.54] NJ: pick it up. I like that one. Fire by a tiger according to Frank. What cup to are you flying to
[575.86] NJ: win such an event. I was flying the luminaire QAV250. Oh yeah yeah. Is that the old dirty clean
[586.02] NJ: plate one. Yeah it was the not the Charpoo one with the slightly stranger shape. It was the one
[594.1] NJ: that they like the second generation one that they brought out and they brought out the alarm
[599.22] NJ: extensions for it which Charpoo came out with. It's a really it's a really old frame. It was
[603.7] NJ: kind of one of the first. Yeah so with that frame with some ZMX motors and yeah it was all pretty
[615.62] Andy: pretty old stuff but yeah that was good. That was a fun day wasn't it. That's the end thing now going
[620.9] Andy: back to your roots. Yeah I was flying my ZMR the other day. Sleep perfect. That gimbal footage
[627.94] Curry: looked pretty good Andy. If you had the anger a bit better on it I'd have to say if you were just
[632.1] Curry: going about quite flat it would look like a sort of really speedy little Mavic or something wouldn't
[638.42] Andy: it. Yeah the problem that I had was it was well that was like the first anomaly flight and then
[648.82] Andy: I landed and it's a KISS 89 PSC. I don't know where to look because I'm like camera one camera one
[658.9] Andy: and it caught fire so yeah now I want to experiment more with that so I'm going to stick some UESCs
[666.5] Andy: on it put some more up tilt on because what you don't what it does is it follows and you don't
[671.78] Andy: realize how how much sort of forward pitch that you put in and you can't see what the gimbal is
[678.9] Andy: doing but I think if all you have to do and which I didn't do is match your camera tilts on your FPV
[687.22] Andy: camera to the gimbal I just assumed that it would always stay level you know it would it would but
[694.42] Andy: it's not the case in FPV mode it follows so if you if you tip down it tips down as well
[701.3] Andy: so if you have the camera angle the same as your FPV camera then you should get
[708.5] Andy: gonna have another go at that.
[714.34] Andy: We did go to Victoria's Secret before the show. I like this as well I feel like a princess
[724.5] Curry: man this is the best day ever hey load of electronics open for the bubbles to hit
[736.67] Tony: any chance we can fill these with hydrogen there you go win oh you get bubbles and a spark
[741.87] Tony: oh look you can put the bubbles out with the sparkler there you go check for this pink I
[748.51] Andy: thought the idea was to wave it around and get these massive ones you can but it's expensive
[755.55] Tony: yeah we don't want to break stuff
[759.39] Tony: that's good feels very camp doing this like over here
[769.47] Jack: I like you like that dear
[776.06] Tony: like this was a bad idea
[779.26] Jack: smell of that sparkler it's gorgeous it does smell like
[784.22] Jack: silver one those gold ones are not as good it smells like reverse polarity on an ESC
[791.98] Andy: really you don't like it you don't like it I'm into it I don't know these bad things have
[797.26] Andy: happened to you I'm hoping someone else donates because uh I'm feeling jolly one of them one of
[802.86] Andy: them that was like this yeah this this could be another you're an idiot
[813.02] NJ: Richard Harwood made a good comment hit the bubble blower out and fire off the cord behind
[819.9] Jack: well we've got one here instant bubble stuff do we do other than fly into your head um
[826.7] NJ: apart from yeah Andrew crashing in my head with the radio glider
[832.54] NJ: I took the mobular seven out and did some power loopy things that was excellent you did a little
[838.14] NJ: bit of long range which I was amazed by yeah your very first pack that was well I've used that
[845.34] Andy: cord long range saving time I trust it what I found worrying is like my video completely cut out and
[852.62] Andy: really yeah I was absolutely fine maybe I need to upgrade the firmware of that truly or get a
[857.74] Andy: better antenna do you calibrate them when you when you put the new firmware on calibrate the actual
[863.58] Andy: uh I did it the first time but so that that might be the problem maybe that's it
[868.7] NJ: because every time you upgrade firmware you have to recess the calibration between the
[872.62] NJ: the two so yeah just one thing around to the patch perhaps it's just staying on the circular
[878.78] Andy: yeah because I want to experiment with uh long range with uh greg menace given um
[887.26] Andy: now has the two by four antennas and stuff so that should be interesting and by long range
[892.3] Curry: we assume you need a distance of vertically sort of 400 feet up and 500 meters out yeah it was
[899.5] NJ: um yeah I don't even think it was 400 meters it was probably under that 100 meters it was within
[905.26] NJ: line of sight yeah obviously within line of sight but yeah um just out of straight line
[909.9] NJ: patch pointing straight at it but for me because I got quite a small field I'd never seen a cup to
[916.14] Tony: go out that far now I was just like are you regretting buying him this now yeah no it's great
[925.18] Andy: can you guys see it is it high death enough that you can see I can see that Tony's getting
[931.66] Curry: particularly moist and that a great deal of pleasure over here that's only because Andy I'll
[937.58] Curry: see sitting next to me you go you see well you go Andy I see one side nj to the average like a little
[942.86] Jack: dream but but Jack I'm straight so spaghetti he's getting worried about it till it gets wet
[953.02] Andy: and you're actually like he is actually
[956.06] Andy: it doesn't like it doesn't happen here then which is a shame
[965.1] Jack: all right question for uh Tony Frank and I well mainly Tony how did you find
[972.86] Jack: do you prefer curry spot or do you prefer frank spot equally the same for me
[980.3] Frank: they're pretty similar to be fair they're both wide open spaces
[984.14] Jack: yeah I enjoyed the trees at curry kittens more yeah but there's more there was more of us here
[991.82] Jack: so that was pretty good but what are you doing junior but like for me sorry to be this guy to
[999.5] Jack: bring it up but it really did feel like when the members of public were looking at us they were
[1004.54] Jack: just like we're right near loop and therefore maybe we were we everything that we did was legal
[1017.42] Andy: though oh yeah everybody had a spot we had no incidents apart from you getting hit
[1026.38] NJ: that was just a line of sight like the goggles down otherwise I wouldn't have moved
[1035.18] Andy: terrific shot I was expecting chaos and it just it seems to go smoothly that was absolutely fine
[1042.38] NJ: it was really good and I think there's something to be said of that because I still have in the
[1049.26] NJ: back of my head even though you know I mean let's not get into the the who thinks what about this
[1055.02] NJ: Gatwick things will be here for a whole hour talking about oh yeah let's talk about that but
[1059.26] NJ: you can't you can't help the fact you can't help the fact that you've got that in the back of your
[1063.1] NJ: head you're wondering what people are thinking but we've still got to go out and fly and just
[1067.9] NJ: do what we were always doing and do it safely and and not be suddenly because I think you just kind
[1075.02] NJ: of you almost showed guilt when all of a sudden you're everyone's going recluse and they're not
[1079.02] NJ: going out flying anymore and spots you would fly you don't until you want the dust to settle I
[1083.18] NJ: think that makes it worse but they haven't proved it was anything anyway so I think because we were
[1088.22] Andy: in it to keep doing what we do I think because we were in like a big group as well they clearly
[1093.66] Andy: thought maybe we're a club of and you know Jack had his high vis jacket on looking official
[1099.74] Curry: yeah sort of moving in plain sight as they do yeah I think I think nj is right you just carry
[1107.1] Curry: on doing what you're doing be super friendly to the members of the public jam we've got to give
[1111.18] Curry: us a pair of goggles if you have them and uh get them involved yeah absolutely not to be controversial
[1117.66] Andy: but uh I do believe Gatwick has changed ownership today interesting not interesting interesting
[1125.74] Jack: yeah for the time where's your phone theory it's been oh I can't anywhere we don't own it
[1131.02] Andy: it's been
[1142.22] Andy: can I just say uh yeah that's not true I just want to put that out there
[1148.62] NJ: yeah we need one of those disclaimers like South Park has at the beginning where it says
[1152.22] NJ: everything in here is rubbish yeah don't listen to anything anyone says and don't act out anything
[1156.62] NJ: I thought that was just a given um yeah I think it's a given it's it's read between the lines
[1161.66] NJ: people um so kitten where have you where have you been and what have you been doing that meant
[1165.9] Curry: you couldn't even join us today well because it's uh the whole family are off um what's going on
[1173.02] Curry: I'm staying around Christmasy stuff I think we're still in Christmas mode over here
[1180.22] Curry: with the family I haven't I haven't flown anything and I had to get out of bed this morning to
[1185.9] Curry: actually get a package from the postman that's how much we are sort of just chilling out we're
[1190.62] Curry: still in extended holiday mode I've got a big pile of stuff to get through and I haven't I haven't
[1196.7] Curry: done anything I don't want stuff turned up then I got the leader uh tiny woop through today that
[1203.26] Andy: was what woke me up this morning so that's good have you got the uh character or version or the
[1210.22] Curry: normal version I think I haven't looked at it in great detail I think got the normal version
[1215.1] Curry: it's quite heavy though yeah I think I've got quite a lump and I've actually got a rapid fire
[1221.82] NJ: module shock horror was that more for review or was it as a present from no for review I probably
[1229.98] Curry: got the one Andy ordered mumps and months ago is that thing got lost I'm having problems with rapid
[1236.46] Andy: fire in that they're getting like black and white flashes with fox ear cameras I thought that was
[1242.94] NJ: quite an old problem they had where they were incompatible with certain camera frequencies
[1247.66] NJ: and I thought they were meant to have fixed that which is why there were so many big hardware to
[1251.74] NJ: lays but maybe they haven't I don't know I've suggested it was all fixed but maybe he was just
[1257.9] NJ: really drunk at the time it's hard to tell yeah you never know what you have to keep an eye on
[1261.82] Curry: version numbers they've rolled out quite a lot of firmware right but I haven't tried it yet but it's
[1268.38] Curry: going to be interesting for me because I've got quite an old pair of goggles because I find it
[1273.02] Curry: really hard to justify going to new goggles when you've got like a perfectly good set of goggles
[1276.62] Curry: which work because I've got dominator frees nothing wrong with them and I can't you know
[1280.7] Curry: HDOs look great except for Andes of course and I didn't want to spend much so I've got the whole
[1285.74] Curry: power thing to think about if I'm going to take this little thing or am I going to solder some
[1289.58] Curry: jumpers or whatever but it'd be an interesting thing I guess I represent an old FPV in terms
[1297.02] Curry: that I've got old goggles I've still got old immersion 600 VTXs when I say 600 I mean 25
[1304.38] Curry: milliwatt VTXs they're my old planes which didn't work on the new goggles that the new
[1311.42] NJ: receivers like those early immersion VTXs the 25 milliwatt was about sort of twice the size of the
[1320.62] Curry: 600 yeah they were huge at one point people were printing out stickers maybe you just stick over
[1327.02] NJ: the top say that 25 that's measuring now yeah yeah very interesting yeah I've not I think it's
[1334.78] NJ: one of those things as well that's a little bit down to your environment because I've tried the
[1340.86] NJ: rapid fire and I thought rapid fire was great but it was not significantly different to my furious
[1347.58] NJ: true deal on 3.8 but that's that's you know conducive to or representative of where I'm
[1355.02] NJ: flying and the environments I'm flying in if I was flying indoors I bet it would be a much
[1360.3] Curry: much clearer difference I think there's there's a there's a misconception about things like the
[1365.26] Curry: rapid fire and the clear view fix everything where in fact it's just like in an environment
[1369.98] Curry: with lots of reflections yeah they're going to work really well but otherwise you'd have them
[1374.7] Curry: in their um what they call it the the normal mode where it just acts as a diversity system
[1379.74] Curry: yeah will be the same as the furious and every other thing out there is their ability to deal
[1385.26] NJ: with multi-passing I think where they really shine so if you're if you're racing in tin cans
[1390.46] NJ: like you know lots of people doing sports rules and stuff that I think that would be very high
[1395.1] NJ: on the priority list but for me I still think the Trudy's uh working great I didn't realize you had
[1401.5] NJ: the rapid fire and Jay you you prefer the Trudy I haven't got I haven't got one but I borrowed one
[1407.98] NJ: to test out views for a while and uh but again it was quite early when they had
[1413.98] NJ: in from bits to work out but when it worked doing what it was supposed to do it it did work great
[1419.26] NJ: but it wasn't like this is incredible I've got to get rid of my Trudy yeah there wasn't and that
[1426.46] NJ: as I said that's just down at the environments I fly a lot of outdoors fields trees that kind of
[1431.18] NJ: stuff I don't have a problem and it's just not the issue for me to switch now Clive FPV in the
[1436.14] Curry: chat has mentioned the Achilles 3.5 now I think is that the one that has the internal microphone
[1441.42] Curry: because that one always interested me because I used to we used to go on flights and sort of chat
[1447.1] Curry: and use my old one of these old DVRs that I fixed to my side and it had an internal microphone I
[1452.06] Curry: found that really quite nice for doing um your sort of I called it accidental commentary because
[1457.82] Curry: I would just mutter onto myself about what I was flying and doing and it turned out to be like
[1462.3] Curry: that's quite actually useful because when you play DVR back sometimes you don't get the context
[1466.86] Curry: of what you were doing if you can hear you or your mate sort of talking about what was happening
[1470.54] Andy: it's quite useful that would have been very dangerous today because if you'd have heard
[1475.82] Andy: the stuff that Jack would whip into my ear while I was flying we'd all be off the air
[1482.94] Andy: we'd all be community strike was was there any tongues in ears this time Jack?
[1488.3] Andy: I licked your ear. Yes you did lick my ear in the middle of the front. Nothing went up the
[1493.1] Andy: bum though today so I really appreciate that. There's still this time. We'll always leave
[1499.18] Jack: them wanting more. I can't I can't wait to see your footage where smoothie smooth.
[1504.94] Andy: That's going to be my excuse anyways I was trying to fly smooth but Jack just randomly
[1518.06] Andy: whispering horrendous things in my ears that could not be repeated. Do you think real pilots do this
[1524.7] NJ: up in the cockpit during landing? I'm really going to be on this landing. Yeah like the noobie
[1531.18] Andy: in this stroke in his leg. I think there's more people's lives at risk in those situations.
[1539.42] Curry: It all makes sense now all that's like they're playing something very side by side they can't
[1543.98] Curry: say oh he was trying to finger me it's going to be like oh I think that's what turbulence is really
[1550.46] Jack: good old fingering between friends I mean you know I know it's 2018 but still enough love.
[1557.58] Jack: I've got two questions one Andy asks you what the hell are you going to do about your HDOs?
[1564.14] Andy: Well I need to figure out I need to wait for fat shark to respond because I made that I made that
[1571.1] Andy: video just for fat shark and I just got so wound up and I kind of I kind of do regret it a little
[1578.46] Andy: bit because it's one of those videos that should have just been for fat shark like this I'm getting
[1584.7] Andy: some sort of interference and it's it's gradually gotten worse and as somebody who relies on that
[1592.3] Andy: gear to say whether I don't know an RTF copter or a VTX produces noise and the goggles themselves
[1601.74] Andy: are producing noise I can't I can't use them reliably and what what I found is interesting
[1609.18] Andy: is going back to the HD3s I actually am preferring them I don't know if it's just because maybe
[1616.54] Andy: they actually work they actually were but I don't know I I think the field of view is slightly
[1623.02] Andy: bigger on the HD3s I know I know you said it wasn't really enough for you to upgrade to the
[1629.34] NJ: HDO yeah again it was a thing where if I was a racer I think it would be a must because that's
[1637.74] NJ: just the contrast and clarity for certain things I think would make the difference yeah but for
[1643.42] NJ: what I'm doing the freestyle stuff I still think the HD3s are a great image and they're doing
[1648.78] NJ: everything I want so I don't think that justifies the pretty colossal crash jumps the HDOs at the
[1654.62] NJ: minute yeah it's so subjective like all of this stuff isn't it it's you and your journey and what
[1659.26] NJ: matters to you but but as you say you're an expensive goggle which means me I think it'd be
[1664.62] Andy: post factual and please investigate I was surprised when they were like you take them apart
[1672.78] Andy: kind of thing because I've always like been an applicator of fact shots the point where people
[1678.3] Andy: accuse me of uh working for them and then when I posted that video it's like well this is clearly
[1686.22] Andy: proof that he has no nothing to do with fat shop wow all proof that you were fired one of the two
[1693.82] Andy: well yeah yeah well uh no usually the customer service is great I show them the problem and
[1700.78] Andy: they and then the next day they give you a ticket number and you post it off to them and this time
[1707.98] Andy: they said I'm getting these lines and the response was um oh yeah the ribbon connector is too close
[1716.54] Andy: to the uh the RF board when when because if you don't know the story when I bought the HDOs the
[1725.98] Andy: case was like trans semi translucent yeah letting lots of light in and they gave me two options
[1732.94] Andy: they said uh you can send them into fat shark and we'll do the repair but um that may potentially
[1741.26] Andy: take a long time because we may have a huge backlog of you know ones that we need to fix
[1746.94] Andy: or we'll send it to you it's a pretty easy job and it won't break your warranty that that was
[1753.18] Andy: the thing that annoyed me in that video is you brought your warranty bro you should have just
[1758.06] Andy: sent them off no fat shark told me to take them apart and what they said was the the lines that
[1765.02] Andy: I was getting the interference was um the ribbon cable come loose so I took them apart
[1771.9] Andy: the ribbon cable was in exactly the same place that it was uh so I think like maybe a regulator's
[1779.42] Andy: failing or there's some sort of power issue or maybe I can't I don't think it's a shielding
[1785.9] Andy: issue because it's something that's not always been there it's something that's gradually gotten
[1790.54] Andy: worse and actually um when I read at the point I realized was um when the tiny hole came out
[1798.86] Andy: I uh I said in my review oh there's a little bit of noise in the video and then I watched other
[1804.06] Andy: things I try not to watch other people's reviews but um I ended up watching another review and it
[1810.7] Andy: would actually um but no no I thought it was um at the NEC but it wasn't um and it was crystal clear
[1818.22] Andy: I thought there's something wrong here and I was doing my cheap build as well and I spent I was
[1824.38] Andy: spent hours trying to get rid of these lines because I thought with the cops that was doing it
[1829.5] Andy: and I plugged in the 18 threes a crystal clear image so long story short and um you know I took
[1838.06] Andy: them all apart I did everything that they said and it's still doing it and I think it's got
[1843.9] Andy: go off to them use your h3s in the meantime you can so you can rely on those yeah yeah it's a shame
[1849.34] Andy: but it's really like put it put a downer on fat fat shark because I've always I I still think
[1855.66] Andy: they're the best despite all of this but um perhaps they've been given too good of a customer
[1863.58] Andy: service and maybe they're they're pushing back because it maybe has eaten into their profit or
[1869.1] Andy: something I don't know I'm just I'm just guessing I wonder once they're out of warranty will they
[1874.3] Andy: be interested in fixing them well this is the thing with fat sharks I mean I I don't think that's he
[1881.34] Andy: it's gone I think the warranty goes on forever I mentioned the other day I had a pair of uh fat
[1886.54] Andy: shark sds that were a couple of years old and uh the DVR just stopped working and they replaced it
[1896.14] Andy: three and you know and they were a couple of years old these are a goggle that I've had
[1902.86] Andy: in July and they've been nothing but a nightmare so um the the the the funny thing is those like
[1910.7] Andy: I make these videos um to show like these issues and then I just get a list of comments saying
[1917.66] Andy: I've had the h2s from day one they've been brilliant or the best thing ever and it's kind
[1922.86] Andy: of like uh yeah maybe I shouldn't have put that video like public but I was just so
[1929.02] Andy: frustrated that well they're expensive you spent your money well we we don't we don't like that
[1935.26] Andy: they are what were they 400 450 450 in America 450 in America 450 GBP over here which is nearly
[1946.46] Andy: 500 with the module and uh everything but used to be it's about a thousand pounds now
[1960.06] Jack: well like I think in a way like the first set you know like when you first like buy um like any
[1968.14] Jack: sort of like new tech because it was a leap to you know OLED yeah I think it's always a bit risky
[1973.9] Jack: you've got you know you reviewers putting balls on the line you may have got the first
[1978.46] Jack: that was a good batch but then for some reason no see-through patches you know it just seemed like
[1985.26] Andy: I actually waited as well which is the annoying thing people always say oh don't go for don't
[1991.1] Andy: don't pull the plug straight away and I wanted to make sure that um I I liked them so I um
[2000.06] Andy: painless three six they went round we had like a barbecue and showed showed me it and I'm not
[2006.14] Andy: actually it was at some point I think we went out for lunch or something like that and he showed
[2011.5] Andy: me and I was like the the thing about the HDOs is the the contrast the whites and the blacks that
[2019.82] Andy: just does it so much better than LCD and that is the benefit really the only benefit and and you
[2027.18] Andy: don't have to do the the mod because then you have to do some sort of power mod if you want to use
[2031.9] Andy: rapid fire you don't need to do that with the HDOs that was my sole reason for buying the HDOs
[2040.06] Andy: was I wanted the rapid fire the rapid fire never turned up and the HDOs were see-through
[2046.7] Andy: you still not got your rapid fire and now to add insult to the wound curry kids had a free pair
[2056.86] Andy: sent to him I know it's weird how did that happen well just out of interest which company was it
[2065.26] Curry: where did they go no I couldn't no bizarrely it was Gearbest a name that don't send anything
[2071.18] Andy: was it really yeah oh man I've not heard of those guys in ages
[2075.42] Curry: every time I talk to my Gearbest guy and I say here's a list of stuff they say we haven't got
[2079.9] Curry: any stock of that which is essentially what Gearbest website is like most of the time unfortunately
[2085.42] Curry: if they could sort out the stock situation and have actual prices they're going to stick to instead
[2090.3] Curry: of changing them on a daily basis with a random number generator they might do a bit better
[2094.7] Andy: I mean I say this to all to Gearbest all the time they they send me these Skype messages and
[2102.86] Andy: pretty much stopped working with them because you know they're saying oh because it's like a
[2110.14] Andy: symbiotic relationship with the reviewer and these companies you know we get to check out this
[2116.86] Andy: technology and say whether it's any good or not and then companies like Gearbest, Banggood,
[2122.62] Andy: Hobbyking whatever they get the advertisement don't they and I've had Gearbest offer a lot
[2131.02] Andy: of stuff lately and I've just been saying look there's no point because you know you're listing
[2139.74] Andy: stuff in stock and they even say like we've got 30 of these in stock and then I will message
[2148.38] Andy: the person and say can I get one for review and they'll say no we've got one in stock I'm
[2152.38] Andy: like your website says there's 30 in stock and then people complain that it takes three months
[2158.78] Andy: for it to arrive and that's because what they do is they actually don't have the stuff in stock
[2165.42] Andy: someone will order it and then they'll get it in stock and that's why it takes three
[2169.34] Andy: months for it to turn up so that's that's why I don't work with Gearbest so much
[2176.54] Curry: I wonder if they don't have a warehouse at all they just tell the supplier to send it
[2180.46] Andy: directly to these guys that takes months and months maybe so although looking at UAV Futures
[2188.38] Andy: tour of Gearbest it did look like a pretty big operation actually like as big as Banggood so
[2195.42] Andy: I don't know I've told them multiple times they're always saying why don't we sell
[2202.7] Andy: many drones and I say because of this the customer service isn't very good and
[2209.42] Andy: you know you're saying things are in stock that aren't in stock and that's it and you know if you
[2216.7] Andy: don't improve that then people aren't going to buy stuff I didn't see that one I saw what was
[2222.7] Curry: what was the other factory Stu went to because it was it was so funny to watch because Stu's all
[2226.7] Curry: like this super high energy jeez yeah we're here with these motors it's going to be incredible high
[2231.02] Curry: there and this guy's just like literally working on his thing and that's that's the most he does
[2235.66] Curry: and he was there in the whole factory being all animated and excited and he didn't get
[2239.82] Andy: anything from anyone it was just so strange yeah I think it would have been better probably um
[2247.9] Andy: I know Alex edit what's his channel called now it's called the district he um he did
[2257.34] Andy: something similar but I think he maybe um I don't know got a tour first and got more of
[2264.3] Andy: an explanation of what was going on and it just seemed like so much better it just it just seemed
[2271.02] Andy: like uh Stu was just kind of let loose and and just told like this is where we make the motors
[2279.02] Andy: and that's it so that's all he could say couldn't say you know it wasn't how the windings don't
[2285.1] Andy: follow very good stuff no I'd love to do something like that though I mean because we we're uh me and
[2294.3] Andy: Angie are this conspiracy that it's all just like all these Chinese companies is just one guy sitting
[2300.62] Andy: at a desk yeah and and he just like he's doing everything you know so happy not dripping his arm
[2312.7] Andy: raging on the keyboard yeah yeah so if you donate perhaps we can go which why are you out there
[2330.86] Andy: but it'd be interesting to see that but yeah Alex edit or flyers district yeah we've had him on
[2337.18] Andy: the show a couple of times ah no no he's a really nice guy I spoke to him a couple of times here
[2341.98] Andy: because he lives in Miami he does like um trying to go on a date with Tony whilst he's out there
[2350.86] Jack: I should have gone really yeah it's like you have to just yeah screw green card you know um
[2357.1] Tony: right or right a movie tomorrow so I don't know because the weather's better well I'm going
[2362.3] Andy: um I don't know because because I thought that like I know uh Georgia is like the land
[2369.18] Tony: as well yeah yeah so when I go to see Bruce again March and then again in September I'm going to
[2377.42] Tony: go hang out I think what's nice yeah well come find chat
[2383.42] Jack: so do you have random subjects sorry do you remember my second question
[2390.06] Jack: sorry what was it my second question but like 15 minutes later apologies no it's fine it's fine
[2398.3] Jack: I'm so sorry and jay did any of you guys get any ask you related presents for Christmas
[2405.18] Jack: and if so what are they
[2410.3] Frank: Frank what do you mean if like I got the radian yeah so yeah and they flew it
[2416.38] Frank: it was my house you're good good oh yeah quick little quick review brilliant I thought it was
[2423.5] Frank: great fun on a day like today where there's barely any wind who's got it for you my family
[2431.26] NJ: nj anything RC related not RC related I did get um some upgrade parts for my 3D printer
[2439.34] NJ: uh so you're a traitor now which which I gave to my uh mrs to buy for me oh we got donations
[2446.94] NJ: oh my god are the FPV oh dear what are we gonna do this could be one each I think fine
[2464.86] NJ: he just picked a spot in the conversation where he's a bit bored he's like right
[2469.26] NJ: get sparkles oh you I had fire are we all doing I ain't doing well then can can they see
[2477.34] NJ: can they see this probably just say one per 10 I don't know where the lawyer is
[2483.74] NJ: this is so much work this is this is this gonna scare junior I'm pretty sure I'm 90%
[2491.66] Andy: where's the light gone he caught us unexpected can the advise this should we all do huh
[2500.46] Andy: where is it gone I'm really scared because these look really are they that but
[2507.74] NJ: I'm gonna watch Tony's first there's one over here on camera too oh my god right no I'm not
[2516.24] Tony: doing that oh my god you are not oh my god it's getting quite warm in here quite quickly
[2529.04] Andy: you're Andy oh I can do a practice that is properly warm
[2537.36] Tony: all right there you go that's about it quite legendary now
[2543.84] Tony: no sir Richard hardwoods and that's one thank you very much wow these are really not safe
[2554.96] Tony: but it's not smoking in here where do we go we got in the bottles in the bottles okay
[2561.68] Curry: oh my god is that technically mist or fog what is the
[2567.12] NJ: smog
[2578.8] NJ: thank you for that outrageous uh super chat thank you very much um one thing I want to talk about
[2585.28] NJ: actually stay just from I think I was probably the only person who did this I bought far too
[2590.08] NJ: many quads with me for this fly and I ended up bringing seven or something and you flew them all
[2594.24] NJ: I think I did notice a fly all yes I did every single one got fly two of which I updated to base
[2599.44] NJ: flight four the nightingale and I was absolutely blown away one was two totally different quads
[2605.12] NJ: on a nightly goes and four build a bait flight and one was a five inch one was a six inch and
[2612.24] NJ: they both flew absolutely fantastically both needed no tuning just my rakes putting in
[2617.68] NJ: and so locked so it's been a while since I've been able to say I've noticed a huge
[2624.96] NJ: jumping bait but every major version comes along and you get lots of people go oh it's time to
[2629.2] NJ: change properly evaporated and blah blah blah but um in terms of flight field there's never that
[2636.16] NJ: big of a jump for me to say it's a huge difference maybe you notice a few bits of pieces here
[2642.08] NJ: because it's so good already I'm not knocking that the code work was done on it
[2646.0] NJ: but four felt like a significant jump over 3.5 for me especially on the six inch for any of you that
[2652.64] NJ: are flying larger quads um hello dog did did you try it I'm joking to death someone open the door
[2663.68] Jack: should we have a little bit of air here just a little bit I'm enjoying it I'm feeling jolly
[2671.36] Jack: this is reminding me of practice as fam
[2676.16] NJ: there's gap in there as well has anyone actually tried bait flight
[2680.72] NJ: 4.0 yet in the nightly developer builds because I think they're definitely
[2687.12] NJ: it's definitely worth a lot but bear in mind it's a developer build there are bugs and I found one
[2691.92] NJ: on one of the matek boards that I flashed which was even though the boards IMU was facing the right
[2697.28] NJ: way in the software in the firmware it decided it was 90 degrees off ask me how I know um so
[2704.88] NJ: quite a small bear that in mind if you're going to try 4.0 before it goes to release candidate
[2709.52] NJ: expect there might be a few little things to try now still but amazing flying in terms of
[2716.64] NJ: its performance but yeah I had the same performance on a six inch reply by blades as I did on five
[2722.88] NJ: inch driveways both locked and beautiful worth checking out none of those cactus were a freestyle
[2730.16] NJ: five inch though were they I'd be interesting emacs four five well that's more of a race yeah
[2736.4] Andy: I was freestyling it because I I'm talking like a heavy like what I was flying and I just wonder
[2742.56] Andy: what the difference is because what I find is the um the heavier the quad the smoother it seems to
[2751.2] NJ: fly anyways yeah so I would imagine it would be good even better and the things that I found
[2759.2] NJ: was interesting was how could your felt and in the default hitting form yours incredibly low
[2764.8] NJ: with a high forward feed um and it's great because if you can get your nice and low your can be the
[2771.92] NJ: real pain in the ass in terms of noise yeah and tuning problems um I had a lot problems with
[2778.32] NJ: old kiss stuff yeah when you got your issues with yours yeah we didn't quite get to that
[2786.16] NJ: it's not that bad without a bit of testing but I mean yeah I mean kisses is still great I'm just
[2790.64] NJ: a random example um but yeah being able to reduce the pee on your gives you a lot more
[2796.0] NJ: headroom to tune the other and tighten up the other stuff it's only bad if you fly backwards
[2802.4] NJ: oh mj yeah I managed to bring that out that was I think that was detailed but yes
[2811.44] NJ: yeah Bloods has said that actually was Bloods that told me to go for it and normally I do things
[2815.6] NJ: like that like the day before I'm going out for a fly but yeah go around yeah if you bring enough
[2820.8] Jack: quads you just play the odds yeah I mean he was he was he's crashing he was like I don't need to go
[2825.52] NJ: there yeah it's like bugs or anything yes there are just uh just talking about one later
[2833.2] NJ: 90 degree out on the IMU which has got behind that but that was the time where that bait flight
[2839.92] NJ: fresh foot protection kicked in because it arms it just went drip and just that's what it once
[2845.68] NJ: it kicked in so that safety feature was that could be board specific as well because yeah after
[2851.28] NJ: when they release these it's for every board yeah yeah no it was fine on my on the six inch arc on
[2857.2] NJ: so it was just that one just that one board Bloods has actually said I have been flying 4.0
[2862.16] NJ: six hundred and eight grand all that weight five inch 6s and for us it's great dynamic filters
[2871.52] NJ: yeah so 4.0 is awesome okay it gets a big thumbs up from me but I'm probably I think we'll all be
[2878.32] NJ: putting up our various flight footage from today Frank how was your experience we saw you up FPV'ing
[2885.6] Frank: yeah yeah I landed pretty uneventfully in the end but yeah I didn't enjoy it because
[2896.08] Frank: it was basically just fog I could see like the tree field sky that was about the level of detail
[2903.76] Jack: a bit of goggle issue with you as well yeah yeah yeah once I fixed the your problem
[2913.84] Jack: got it a bit more reasonable it was nice to kind of find out where I was going wrong
[2919.6] Jack: but yeah no action camera so I'm really good we've got some of your on the live stream right
[2926.24] NJ: which is already up yeah there might be some there Jack yeah every time we come down the
[2932.72] Jack: GoPro is off so I don't know and it did take long to copy all the files off so I don't I don't think
[2941.68] Jack: enough there really but I got I got to fly out with you guys I'm really knackered anyway like
[2947.28] Jack: when I'm really tired I'm just you know I can't be trusted well yeah the last time I was like
[2955.68] Jack: really sleep deprived you slept in the van crashed into crashed into my mate's arm
[2963.28] Jack: so yeah not not good so what happened with your GoPro 5 by the way I just left it at home just
[2971.6] Jack: hope you've got it oh and then you say it you were at your mom's and then yeah so used to having it
[2976.8] Jack: just strapped to my quad yeah and I must have removed it for some reason and yeah it's just
[2984.64] Jack: up on top of you know sometimes you put something where you never really put it it's like I've
[2991.36] Jack: taken it off the quad and it's on the top of the shelf like on top of the hedge you know I put
[2996.64] Tony: stuff on top of my trainers totally out of my routine and then I still go out yeah the worst
[3003.92] Jack: is when I put stuff on my bed be like don't forget that and then leave it like you know
[3009.12] Andy: take the keys but yeah I think that's the worst thing about this hobby if you forget a key component
[3018.08] Andy: I'm quite lucky in that when I do my reviews the field's close so if sometimes I'll get out I'll
[3025.68] Andy: put the quad in and then my fat shop battery isn't with me but the other day we traveled you know
[3034.64] Andy: a few miles got there and did that exactly that just there's just so much to remember to bring
[3042.16] Andy: and you know if you know I've done like what 200 miles today I've so gutted that I forgot to put
[3049.68] Andy: your GoPro in there that's all right man I don't know why it kept turning off because that's like
[3054.72] NJ: I use it a lot I don't know did you get any late Christmas um I didn't people start donating
[3071.36] Andy: again because the question was rubbish I didn't because um I mean there's just there's just like
[3079.68] Andy: work isn't it well no there's just my parents and they they haven't got a clue about it um
[3085.04] Andy: don't want to encourage you but I did buy I guess myself a present I bought so that counts
[3093.6] Jack: I did as well I did that this year embarrassingly enough Gilmore Girls t-shirt yeah they are
[3101.76] Andy: yeah I'm coming I bought myself uh two KISS ESCs Tony bought me a KISS ESC
[3111.76] Andy: because uh one exploded uh and I bought two new arms for the alien which I only thought I'd need
[3120.48] Andy: one but it turned out that the 32 amp ESCs have dug a hole in both yeah yeah what's he doing
[3131.44] Jack: like he's got bored um Merry Christmas time thanks here you go well I'm not old did someone
[3138.8] Andy: don't did someone donate no I just decided to like stuff did give me I'll have Trump change
[3151.76] NJ: the connector to MMCX yeah yeah Tony what's the name of the kind today physics right okay I think
[3159.04] NJ: that's one that's been being discussed in in chat a little bit about um Greg's frame how do you feel
[3164.96] Tony: about it I really love it it's really good crying really good uh someone just commented on my video
[3171.84] Andy: and bought one this afternoon oh fantastic and you were trying out some new props which I really
[3178.0] Andy: like the look of I love a really quiet as well very one very thin profile similar to the
[3189.92] Tony: they're really really like two and a half grams each they don't crash very well though so I wouldn't
[3196.08] Tony: if I had to put it in or go in a race I wouldn't risk it. Have you tried the down ones though like
[3201.28] Tony: because they're made of that nice material they just look nice they just look I mean the down
[3205.92] NJ: material is fancy yeah how's always been good might be worth seeing how they compare but yeah
[3211.6] NJ: performance went pretty well good efficiency you seem to be up for a decent amount of time yeah about three and a half minutes on them
[3217.84] Tony: considering a lot of that was going yeah the 2600
[3224.32] Curry: currently you uh are you still with us I am still with you I don't know if I'm showing up in video
[3230.96] Curry: we've got you um did you answer our Christmas Christmas questions no I didn't get any RC related
[3237.12] NJ: gifts for Christmas I don't even want one to yourself you not follow the rule the wheel do
[3241.84] NJ: one for you one for me not even some hot nuts and Santa sack no I mean I had to buy an ear seat
[3248.64] Curry: but that wasn't really a Christmas present that was just like I had to get something for a plane
[3252.64] Curry: to fly that doesn't count does it either a gloriously RC free Christmas what was the what
[3259.6] Andy: was the mavic air was that last year was that that was for my birthday back in May surely it
[3265.76] Andy: should have been a zoom 2 pen or something in this ship for Christmas
[3272.8] Curry: I got I got a musical instrument for Christmas from the family I got a bass guitar there's
[3278.48] Curry: something completely different because I don't have enough time so I thought yeah I don't want
[3284.0] Curry: to die on something something else but the other I have a zero time we dropped guitar bass we've
[3289.84] Andy: got everyone now so there is no excuse Frank used to sing is that bob bow in the chat saying how
[3297.92] Tony: small is Tony I'm not small Jack's just large Tony is small though no no bigger than the size
[3304.64] Jack: of your thumb I'm fun size watching borrowers over Christmas I thought oh look if I ain't
[3311.12] Andy: around with Tony so um before we all came here we all went out for a meal and Tony you were
[3317.68] Andy: pre-booked I mean what did you uh what the name what did you boot the table under getting the
[3325.04] Andy: ending yeah like that's how that book and somehow they actually did they somehow still let us in
[3333.28] Curry: it's for mr dwayne pipe you say this but every time I've seen Jack go into Starbucks and they
[3340.96] Curry: say who's it for he says like princess miss pixie ace or something just to try and get the
[3346.48] Jack: right to know my name they just need to make my drink but how the day that how do you know it's
[3352.32] Curry: your coffee unless they shout out this is for princess miss pixie cake or no they just go
[3357.68] Curry: and say the name of my drink what if more people have ordered the same drink and there's a fight
[3364.08] Jack: well they can just have it if I've got if that's what they ordered and they want that
[3369.12] Curry: you know and they're that desperate it's a weird this is like a tony level thing to get paranoid
[3374.32] Curry: about no and it's going to be like they're taking my name down they're checking my drinks
[3379.52] Tony: I get paranoid the conspiracies are real so what about this apparently
[3386.8] Frank: being talked about in the chat at the moment about uh it being sold yeah actually it's got a
[3392.96] NJ: soul bite to it draining on yeah what's he put it just seems so sus doesn't it 50 percent of
[3400.8] NJ: getwick shares sold today to a french company do you think they managed to beat the price down
[3405.92] Curry: by flying a bunch of drones over well no or flying no going there at the top and just saying
[3412.88] Frank: they were let's just ring it in and get people getting into a bit of hysteria and then any
[3418.64] Frank: flashing light on a crane or anything nearby is all of a sudden the drone what gets me is there
[3423.44] Tony: still not over them oh yeah 100 press left three days in not a single photo and the army
[3428.48] Frank: I like the uh meme that was going around that was a photo of uh drones you know a drone like
[3435.6] Frank: a phantom or something being like 67 sightings and then a picture of Loch Niff Munster in 117 sightings
[3444.48] Andy: I did a post this morning and um it's it was a the daily star and it said something like
[3452.8] Andy: um they they they were taking issue with the fact that the drone laws aren't coming in until
[3458.96] Andy: November next year and they were saying after this getwick thing then it needs to be escalated
[3465.92] Andy: and the government needs to you know speed up the process and all I was thinking at this time was
[3472.8] Andy: no you you need to stop falsely accusing people innocent people who did nothing who had their
[3481.28] Andy: Christmas ruined uh there there were no drones seen and that just made me so mad that that was
[3490.4] Jack: allowed that any of that is allowed to what I don't understand sorry is that the guy they nabbed
[3499.36] Jack: didn't own a drone didn't have one on his property that was an MD 500
[3505.12] NJ: wasn't it military yeah that's all it was it's all very strange why why about a drone
[3514.8] Curry: yeah there's no differentiation between anything is there it's like every single thing possible
[3520.72] NJ: that might fly exactly it's the most great um for anything in the air that hasn't got someone sat in it
[3526.96] Jack: it's got it's like like bitcoin do you know what I mean it's like yeah you know like any coin could
[3533.04] Andy: be as far as I know yeah it's just I just think something needs to change with the media it needs
[3541.2] Andy: it needs to be you know innocent until proven guilty you reckon they're in for some big
[3546.24] NJ: compensation then will they be in a position I really hope actually you said under the 25k
[3552.48] Andy: that's not that's that's not enough I don't think yeah I mean they need to be seriously punished I
[3557.92] Jack: think you know can you imagine it might as well arrest Tony do you know I mean I get 50k out of
[3565.2] Tony: there because the thing was he did arrest Tony from what I saw because arresting it is one side
[3571.76] Frank: of it and you know if they have reason to suspect then they're going to arrest to do the questioning
[3578.08] Frank: if they don't charge then that's absolutely nothing has happened legally really um but the
[3584.56] Frank: really bad thing was that the press published their identities they took photos from their
[3589.76] Frank: facebook pages they absolutely spread their names around everywhere and that's that's that's
[3595.36] Frank: terrible and then where they live exactly and all this kind of thing and that's specifically against
[3602.24] Frank: what was you know came out of the levis inquiry did you see how the press defended themselves
[3607.28] Curry: they suggested by naming them they were key in getting them seen as innocent quicker
[3613.76] Curry: because more details came out about their whereabouts that's that's what they're suggesting
[3617.76] NJ: as a defense for naming them in that which she she drowned which means she was actually innocent
[3625.84] Jack: we proved it look I don't want to go in and go
[3629.52] Tony: what are they going to speed up us signing our lives away what they were saying was that
[3634.4] Frank: the registration process I think what the press were saying was that by publicizing the details
[3640.72] Frank: they were hastening the legal process and it's like the legal process shouldn't be hastened
[3646.88] Frank: you shouldn't be hasty with the law the whole point is you have due process and they're
[3651.84] Tony: completely screwed it up so we're all gonna have to register Jack's already said he's
[3656.24] Jack: yeah I'm really sorry but yeah I'm I'm done like Bruce was he compared it to just being
[3664.88] Jack: sex register yeah you might as well be do you know what I mean they're just going to be like
[3669.04] Jack: Gatwick we're going to go down the list they're going to be like he's closest well he's got a
[3673.6] Jack: helicopter but no drone scratch him oh Tony's in crawl he's just around the corner
[3680.64] Jack: hang on works alone lives alone we're seeing Penny on top of his van yeah that sounds like
[3687.44] Frank: something dodgy that is a genuine concern because you know they've said like
[3695.36] Frank: that oh that we're not going to do that and that's specifically going to be in the rules
[3698.48] Frank: of how we use this information is that we're not going to use it that way but then it's
[3703.28] Frank: specifically that the press aren't allowed to be publicizing these details until someone's charged
[3709.28] Frank: so obviously they don't care about the rules we can say again although it's so obvious to
[3715.68] Curry: everybody with half a brain that if you're out there to do criminal intent one thing you won't
[3720.88] Curry: do is register on a drone research it's a bit like the bank robbers and and who do armed robberies
[3727.6] Curry: they they don't hold the guns legally they they and and people that have a getaway car they've
[3732.72] Curry: stolen that car because they won't use their own because it's registered to them it's it's pretty
[3736.88] Curry: obvious to most people and yet there's this sudden thought that registering will stop all crime
[3743.84] Tony: I think maybe they just want to be seen to be doing something that's definitely part of it
[3749.12] Frank: um but the other the other thing is what what they're trying to do is be able to
[3755.36] Frank: find places so by by having people registered it means that a bit like having a license for your
[3761.52] Frank: car you know if you'll stop driving and you don't have a license then you can immediately be you
[3768.8] Frank: know nicked for driving without a license without having to work out was it dangerous driving was
[3773.04] Frank: it not dangerous driving anything like that in the same way that if someone finds someone flying a
[3776.96] Frank: drone and they land it and you go where's your proof of registration and you go don't have any
[3783.12] Frank: then they can immediately nick you for flying without being registered yeah but if what we're
[3789.2] Frank: doing here is having 99 percent of these cases where you actually get nicked is actually flying
[3796.72] Frank: legally anyway so you're just criminalizing legal safe behavior especially now see how many videos
[3803.6] NJ: are on youtube already of those exact scenarios the people is having no real idea what they're
[3811.07] NJ: trying to regulate they just know someone's got a problem with it they feel like they should be
[3815.07] Jack: there to deal with there's no training it's like in low you used to own a quad bike yeah
[3822.91] Jack: also do you know what i i laughed sorry going back to you know bruce is uh sorry a bit non-sector
[3829.15] Jack: uh bruce's video where he said like what happens if that bloke you know likes to take walks in the
[3833.79] Jack: woods old mister plays in hygienist here out on his bike in the woods as well you're perfect to line
[3843.79] Jack: up no i know no alibi it's great anyway um well where was i going uh yeah you used a quad bike
[3852.11] Jack: i used to pull you over for not wearing a crash helmet they didn't even know they had to bring in
[3856.67] Jack: yeah they might as well do you for not wearing a seat belt on a bike yeah you know it's exactly
[3862.99] Tony: i know i'm gonna know no and they're not gonna know so here's a question in the chat how many
[3868.43] NJ: of you are bmfa that are unhappy with bmfa moving forward because of course january you'll have to
[3875.15] NJ: re-sign up to them how many of you have to because of the fields perhaps you're flying
[3879.55] NJ: or clubs and how many of you are saying nope i feel like they've thrown us under the bus i
[3884.35] Andy: don't want to do no i've got to pre-register with bmfa because we had a good chat uh with
[3892.27] Andy: the bmfa at the nec drone show and they seemed they seemed to really be on our side didn't
[3900.99] Frank: probably not anymore now because the interesting thing is um you know the fpvuk have now been
[3908.83] Frank: sitting in all the same meetings and are seen as you know on the level with bmfa by the caa and
[3915.55] Frank: the authorities so they're in equal structure yeah so as far as i can see i don't see why bmfa
[3925.07] Frank: would get more stick for the registration continuing than fpvuk when fpvuk were in those
[3930.99] Frank: same meetings but um this is my club but i mean you know they both bmfa and fpvuk were both in
[3940.99] Frank: those meetings and still the multi-voter rule came out yeah pretty much what i thought was
[3949.23] Andy: interesting and something that we um something that we missed at the nec show was um the caa
[3958.11] Andy: did a talk all about um the relationship that they have with the bmfa and this was before
[3966.83] Andy: like a week before the gatwick thing so maybe uh something will change there but one thing that
[3973.55] Andy: they did say is that they actually don't have like a set plan yet because that's that's why
[3981.71] Andy: it's november next year because we don't actually know it could be that if you are a bmfa member
[3989.15] Andy: you're completely exempt actually if you go to um on the kitchen table um that simon newton's
[3996.59] Andy: simon newton's channel there is the entire talk that the caa did and it's really interesting in
[4004.59] Andy: fact what um what they said was um is that the um this whole registration thing and the test
[4014.11] Andy: and it sounds more horrible than it is and what what they don't want to target the hobbyist
[4020.59] Andy: they want to target the 16 year old that is going to sit at a computer and go through some
[4030.19] Andy: uh because a 16 year old isn't going to sit at a computer go through a hundred questions
[4037.39] Andy: uh to try and answer them they they and that's what that's who they want to uh target rather than
[4044.67] Andy: than the hobbyist is what they said at that point and so it might be the case that bmfa
[4050.67] Andy: members and people like that we it'll be very simple for us to do it'll be literally 10
[4056.83] Andy: questions like your dji questions you get at the moment there's something interesting there's
[4061.87] NJ: something interesting that ash has pointed out here which is the bmfa
[4069.55] NJ: the bmfa have entirely lost my respect having not spoken out about the incident at all
[4074.67] NJ: um and fbu fbuk they they actually came out and said we'll send in the drone hunting squad didn't
[4080.51] NJ: they so it was nice to see some yeah i mean i think it was a bit tongue in cheek i don't think
[4086.67] NJ: really i don't think fpbuk was a lot of people that suggested it like don't send a sniper and
[4092.51] Frank: send us yeah but i don't think anyone was expecting that to work out i think as well at least they
[4100.35] Frank: said something but they yeah so the bmfa to be fair to them did put out a post about it
[4106.35] Frank: but it was a bit of a weird one because it was we haven't seen any evidence on this so
[4112.75] Frank: we can't we don't feel like we can make a proper statement on it yet
[4116.59] Frank: and then they made a load of that they had a lot more non-statement after that about also when we
[4122.35] Andy: spoke to the bmfa as well they admitted themselves that they don't think that they have enough online
[4128.91] Andy: presence so so so it might be yeah you might say oh the bmfa did nothing but actually they're
[4137.39] Andy: they're quite old-fashioned they've been around for ages and probably had a cut a few cake sales
[4142.83] Andy: how many years could you only pay for the bmfa by check yeah and he actually said that they were
[4151.39] Andy: working on a youtube channel to to sort of try and educate and and give give more updates so i
[4158.75] Andy: would i would give them the benefit of the doubt i would tend to think that the bmfa got more stick
[4164.51] Curry: than fpvuk because whereas fpvuk were pretty straight coming out and saying this is all we
[4170.83] Curry: could get the sort of Theresa May response like this is the best we could do it's that or nothing
[4175.87] Curry: the bmfa sort of put it out as a brilliant we've managed to protect most of our flyers you'll be
[4181.63] Curry: able to carry on as normal oh and you stupid quads you can uh you even got over there you
[4186.83] Andy: just have to have a separate rule yeah that was that wasn't what we got from speaking to them
[4192.75] Jack: that was it right well they'll be on soon yeah that's coming on the show hopefully do we ever
[4198.83] Andy: have time we'll find out it was meant to be last week but i think it didn't work out yeah it's
[4205.71] NJ: january second week okay so yeah all right we're looking at mid january then bmfa
[4213.63] NJ: 10th on the 10th okay so put that in your diaries guys i really liked what that guy
[4220.43] Andy: had to say about um they they want to be more involved with fpv and and they are sort of seen
[4227.87] Andy: as more of a like disconnected from it but you have to remember we were at the any any c drone
[4234.59] Andy: showing the bmfa were there where pvuk were they there no they're in york so you know and and uh we
[4243.87] Andy: renewed our well i renewed my yeah no i did my insurance it was very easy to do i haven't
[4249.47] Frank: renewed it yet but i do need to yes um but i don't want to i don't want to join six vendors list
[4259.07] Jack: all it's going to be some sort of christmas list for when anything does kick it off also i kind of
[4263.71] Andy: thought as well i mean um how is it going to work for us reviewers who have maybe you know 50 to 60
[4271.79] Andy: quarts do we do we register do we register logistical nightmare it'll be no no so so the day
[4279.63] Frank: before nec i went up to meet with ca and people when the people that are actually being paid to
[4285.47] Frank: build the registration system uh from what they said there there is okay registration definitely
[4293.79] Frank: happening one yeah it's going to be registration of pilots not of aircraft so you register yourself
[4299.23] Frank: and then you put your number on on the on the aircraft and there's going to be an online
[4304.11] Jack: competency test as part of it as part of signing up so the competency test online yes could be
[4311.63] Jack: completed by anyone they wouldn't know it's necessarily you well it's going to be fairly
[4319.15] Jack: it's just going to be common sense stuff yeah yeah no i'm saying you know you know where you
[4324.03] Jack: like oh the 16 year old isn't going to sit down yeah mum and dad might do it same way a dji app
[4330.83] NJ: when it asks you pass this test we run it before you fall it could be handed to someone that's that's
[4336.19] Andy: what they're going for they can still use it because they have to they have to show that they're
[4340.35] Andy: doing something but on the other hand they don't want to kill the industry in the hobby because
[4347.23] Jack: they're just gonna all it's going to do right is there's going to be a load of people who want
[4351.31] Jack: to jailbreak dji stuff in order to use illegal means because of like geofencing that is a weird
[4358.75] Frank: thing like personally i think that seems like a much bigger issue like having a rule of you can't
[4364.27] Frank: remove geofencing from something that has geofencing on it seems to me like that would be
[4369.63] Frank: much more important like if you could but if someone has a dji thing and they've put the
[4374.35] Frank: hacked firmware on it because dji managed to put it out on github and not be secured
[4380.27] Frank: um so that anyone could change the encryption but if you can remove if you flash your dji with
[4387.39] Frank: um the hacked firmware that has no geofencing on why are you doing that unless you're doing that
[4394.43] Frank: to cause trouble like surely that should be a thing that you should be nicked for playing around
[4400.43] Andy: like yeah but it's how how do you do it because they're the people that aren't going to register
[4404.83] Andy: and aren't going to have a thing on the side but it would mean that that's why that that's why
[4409.55] Andy: they've said that they want there's there's not a lot they can do about that but um and again
[4416.67] Andy: bringing it back to to the the youngster you know it's it's it's sort of educating early about um
[4425.07] Andy: drone safety and you're always going to get idiots that are going to do that and it's it's
[4430.91] Andy: the same as burglary or anything like that you're gonna get told off if your sticker falls off
[4436.11] Frank: i mean it wouldn't you know it wouldn't make a difference if someone had just like had an old
[4440.51] Frank: one or someone had one that was you know just didn't have geofencing on it at all but just yeah
[4447.15] Frank: you know if someone was going around with a phantom on it that had had the special firmware hacked
[4452.99] Frank: firmware that didn't have geofencing on that should be considered a like a criminal tool
[4458.83] Jack: isn't it yeah it should and then if you start going down that road it's like you can have the
[4467.55] Jack: components to build a taser if you build a taser then it's exactly the same as owning a handgun
[4474.35] Jack: you know i mean like you like you and then you start going into cars can be considered weapons
[4480.27] Jack: it's the argument it's the argument of building a rubber knife isn't it yeah do you actually own
[4485.63] Frank: the thing that you buy as well also a lot of isn't it that software that allows your tool
[4492.67] Jack: to do illegal things isn't that like yeah but the thing is it's like
[4503.31] Curry: where the right to modify is it seems to be an important thing people think it's a right yeah
[4509.15] Andy: yeah yeah that that's that's it exactly they think yeah for example you know why why can you
[4516.83] Andy: go faster uh than the speed limit in a car do you know what i mean yeah well it just it'll be
[4522.99] Jack: exactly the same as like buying a large SUV and they're like you're not allowed to add a tow bar
[4529.55] Frank: to tow a caravan but isn't it more like putting like a police sign on the side of your car
[4537.55] Frank: being like yes i'm allowed to drive in here because i'm the police yeah but that's that's
[4542.75] Jack: that's a a rouge isn't it that's you know pretending to be something else or isn't it
[4550.11] Andy: more like a copy of someone's key the argument that i saw was that it you know i i bought this
[4561.65] Andy: drone and um you know it's it's like it's my right to be able to unlock it and um you know
[4570.53] Andy: you know in this in the same way as i can buy a Ferrari and it'll drive at 200 mile per hour but
[4577.33] Andy: i'm not going to that was that was from what i was reading um about unlocking because i think it's
[4584.85] Andy: it started off as the the mavic pro that you could unlock and i believe that um the way that
[4592.29] Andy: it gets unlocked is it was actually d gi software yeah so i i knew this part of it and i think from
[4601.01] Frank: what uh ash from droning on has said in the chat i think i understood a bit more because what i
[4605.57] Frank: understood from it was um because github like massive international repository of code
[4612.69] Frank: dgi had published their code on there but hadn't set it to be private so anyone could just take it
[4621.41] Andy: and work with all the encryption it's basically the back end it's the back end light so it's
[4627.49] Frank: actually andi also loves a bit back door so so i thought like i thought someone had like taken
[4632.45] Frank: that and used that and modified it to make a geo fence free version of it from what ash is saying
[4639.41] Frank: it's actually oem firmware correct so it's it it's essentially gi used to limit it but but then you
[4647.65] Jack: can just you know take all of that off so that is their mistake yeah yeah it's their mess up
[4657.25] Jack: but yeah someone's taking something that shouldn't do that and turned it malicious that's like buying
[4663.73] Jack: a butter knife and then you've sharpened it you know and then and then that's the difference
[4670.37] Frank: isn't it this isn't code that's been written to go around the geofencing this is code that existed
[4676.29] Frank: without geofencing which is it's like a very slight difference but it's important because
[4681.17] Jack: it's the intent yeah that's the thing it's like owning the car and it's like you know it's it's
[4689.33] Jack: um it it's like and also the apple screens it's like you've got the tire pressure regulators
[4699.09] Jack: you know and your wheel pops and you can't get an official tire to put the regulator back on so you
[4706.45] Jack: buy a steel rim and it's exactly same size it fits the it it reaches the oem manufacture thing
[4714.05] Jack: but because the car and its software goes i can't i i don't know what pressure is in in that tire
[4722.77] Jack: because it's not a a you know my brand of tire so you're no longer allowed to drive your car
[4729.81] Jack: so your car you've paid for it you own it you maintain it you know you you sort of elevate
[4736.53] Jack: and like you know promote the brand of owning that car and you've put your trust in it and because
[4741.81] Jack: the sensor isn't in that steel tire and you can't you know it it's it's a saturday and a dealership
[4747.89] Jack: shop and you're in the middle of nowhere in wales because you think your colleague agrees you've
[4753.09] NJ: actually pretty much described tesla yeah yeah exactly yeah guys rich rich rebuilds but yeah
[4760.45] Jack: you know and then it's like it you know it's like it it's it's like having a tv that's like you know
