[389.81] AndyRC: This new drone came out, the Femi X8 SE, which is like a really cheap, nice version,
[396.53] AndyRC: bit like the Mavit. It actually flies for 33 minutes. It really does as well, which is amazing.
[404.13] AndyRC: However, this time, I was sort of looking up at it line of sight, but sort of more in a kind of
[412.69] AndyRC: matrix style pose. Well, upside down.
[417.97] AndyRC: Well, no, you know, in The Matrix when he's like dodging the bullets.
[422.85] AndyRC: Well, that's how I was looking up at it, but for 33 minutes.
[426.77] AndyRC: And then the next day I couldn't move or get out of bed and I couldn't for two weeks.

[1653.97] NJ: So this is, yeah, both of these, I'm hoping for good things.

[1693.89] NJ: they're great in terms of close proxy and close acro, they do really well.
[1701.41] NJ: But as soon as the weight goes up, when you start flying them fast
[1704.85] NJ: and doing big maneuvers, that's when you'll start bringing out your washout.
[1709.09] NJ: So that's where this one will probably fare better,
[1711.41] NJ: because it's, again, it's one of the lightest of the Cinewhoops.
[1714.85] NJ: But I'm not, you know, I think you can still get them all to your washout.

[1724.53] NJ: because that's really what matters with these things, is what they are to you.

[1746.45] NJ: and just think they're going to have a five inch experience with them.

[1757.25] Curry: And that's when you get that real feeling of speed and you take it out to a big field.

[1862.45] NJ: on 4S, I'm using two 2S 300 milliamp nanotechs and that works just super well. It's flying so
[1870.77] NJ: nicely. But the one they sent us, because they kind of want you to stick to 3S because they're
[1876.37] NJ: worried about blowing up ESCs again, is a Tattoo 450 3S, I think. Yeah, it's a 450 3S.
[1884.45] NJ: I think that's too heavy. I would go for a 350 3S on that. And you'll have much better tracking,
[1892.13] AndyRC: less sort of washout problems. Yeah, I found it very sluggish on 3S for the brief time that I'd
[1900.85] AndyRC: do it, which is why you probably didn't see the video because it was way too long.
[1905.57] AndyRC: I made a video of all the stuff that has been building up. And I mentioned that
[1911.57] AndyRC: Beta FPV had sent me the 85X. And I mentioned you, and I linked to you,
[1919.97] AndyRC: in hope that you'll give me your PIDs so that I could try it.
[1925.41] NJ: Well, yeah, I was saying, you know, I talked about this before, but Nate and I,
[1929.25] NJ: Mr. Shuttlebug, independently tuned and came up with almost identical
[1934.21] NJ: PIDs on that. And they were so much lower than the ones that were included as stock. And I think
[1939.57] NJ: that was definitely one of the issues. But in terms of the forward speed of that, there is a
[1944.37] NJ: Thingiverse file for the 85X that you can print, which will give you more headroom. Because you'll
[1949.89] NJ: notice this with yours, Curry, although it looks like it can be angled, that camera is at a fixed
[1957.01] NJ: angle, you can't actually adjust it. And as soon as you get it outside, it will feel sluggish,
[1962.05] Curry: because you need to tilt the camera. Yeah, I noticed it had some sort of,
[1966.77] Curry: I've barely looked at it, because I was literally working on something else today.
[1969.73] Curry: The two packages arrive in 15 minutes of each other, and it's like, great, you wait ages for
[1973.65] Curry: a city with the two arrive at once. But I did see it looks like it would be movable, but you're
[1977.89] Curry: saying it's not? No, yeah, I've... So you've got essentially a max speed, unless you just want
[1983.89] AndyRC: to stare at grass. The thing is, though, and as you love a high camera angle, and I fly like
[1991.41] AndyRC: what it says on a Curry Kittens t shirt. So most of the time, so I actually found the camera angle
[1998.93] Tony: fine, actually. Well, that's what they're supposed to be used for, aren't they? Like, I keep seeing
[2004.77] Tony: people posting stuff of cine whoops, and then doing mad flips over trees like you would do with
[2010.85] Tony: a five inch light. That's not what I think they use for this. I think it's all about finding what
[2017.57] AndyRC: they can be used for and seeing what they're good at. It's really, it's really divided the community,
[2023.65] AndyRC: because when they first came out, I said, I don't really know what these power whoops are for.
[2030.29] AndyRC: They're too powerful for indoors, and they're not powerful enough outdoors. And if you fly them like
[2036.61] AndyRC: a five inch, they start doing really high maintenance maneuvers to get out. And they're not
[2042.77] Tony: good at it. They're not good at it. You might as well do your five inch stuff with your GoPro on
[2048.05] Tony: and do all that. But cine whoops are made for cinematic, slow... They've got a huge fan base,
[2055.65] AndyRC: right? So I got a lot of backlash when I said I don't know what these things are for. But there
[2061.09] AndyRC: are people that just want to fly them in a straight line, because they get decent HD footage,
[2071.49] AndyRC: they want to fly them slowly, not quickly. And if you do that, you don't get the yaw
[2079.25] AndyRC: washouts. If you don't do a roll, you don't get crazy maneuvers. And so that was the feedback that
[2084.61] AndyRC: I got. So trying to take out my sort of reasons and not understanding it, the people told me that
[2093.73] AndyRC: no, you're doing acro with it, you shouldn't be doing. I mean, the thing is, it's now the new
[2100.37] NJ: craze, because these are arriving like every other day, I'm getting a new one of these turn up.
[2106.21] Tony: Can you go once someone give me one? Because I want to do something like cinematic with one.
[2114.37] NJ: Yeah, I mean, look, you can do the cinematic thing. I think I'm kind of in agreement with Nate
[2119.33] NJ: on this, because we both like acroing those cine whoops. And I've the 85X, I haven't done my
[2125.89] NJ: video on it yet. But I have been slowly getting through recording my footage with it on 4S,
[2131.33] NJ: especially. And I'm doing inverted yaw spins, all kinds of really great maneuvers. It's tracking,
[2137.89] NJ: it's holding it. And it's but you know, it's HD freestyle in something that fits in the palm of
[2142.61] NJ: your hand. And there is always going to be an appeal for certain people. For something like
[2146.93] NJ: that, the props are guarded, you have to be less, you have to be worried about where you fly it.
[2152.45] NJ: So there's lots, you know, the idea bring it freestyle somewhere and not have to worry about
[2156.93] Tony: what you're doing with it. It's nice to hit gaps or small that you can't get through a five inch.
[2161.41] NJ: Exactly. Everything's small. Let me just quickly answer someone did ask about what the your washout
[2169.33] NJ: is. So on these works, basically anything with with the ducted prop as you go into a dive,
[2175.97] NJ: quite high speed, what happens is as you level out, it will actually your so basically the your
[2182.77] NJ: will let go the item will will give up and it will actually spin 90 degrees off to one side
[2188.13] NJ: as you dial the throttle back in. There's something to be said for how you can get around this by not
[2193.81] NJ: completely dumping the throttle. The way you might do when you're flying a five inch, you need to
[2199.01] NJ: keep some power in. And it really is out of all the testing I've done. One of the biggest key
[2204.77] NJ: features is the weight. If you keep these super light, you tend to find that the lighter of the
[2211.57] NJ: quads don't suffer it of the power whoops and the cine whoops. And the Mobula seven was a great
[2218.05] NJ: example of that. It was lighter than all of them. And it was the only quad I was able to absolutely
[2222.37] NJ: stick bang and do all kinds of crazy maneuvers with and it never let go of its track. So that's
[2227.89] NJ: why I'm also quite excited to see where I can go with this one. Did you did you find that you know
[2232.85] AndyRC: when you talk about the Mobula seven? Are you talking about like the V2 as well? Or the V1?
[2240.45] AndyRC: Because yeah, I still got the V1 and I love it. But the what was that the trash can had the V2
[2250.37] AndyRC: ducts and that that didn't fly it did the your wash outs it did all that. But basically it was
[2258.13] AndyRC: it was the same thing as the Mobula seven except so I don't think the Mobula seven now with its
[2266.69] AndyRC: updated frame, I think it now does all that your wash out. I got the V1 Mobula as well. But the
[2274.45] Curry: trash can had bigger, bigger lipos and had the le D board which wouldn't weigh much but in the
[2282.37] Curry: things it might do a little bit as a different motors. Yeah, I think people are using them for
[2288.05] NJ: not what they're meant to be used for. See the trash can was was another interesting one. I mean,
[2293.01] NJ: my biggest problem with that was just the hideous amount of jello that I had with it. But
[2298.53] NJ: fast as hell. And for some people that that was like turning on a light switch, a little work,
[2303.97] NJ: not a cine whip, sorry, standard work that goes like about of hell. And that again, that's another
[2309.41] NJ: thing that some people really like and they'll gravitate towards it. So it's great. There's this
[2313.41] NJ: whole kind of new new areas for this to go and obviously this will develop. But I'm particularly
[2319.41] NJ: interested in in kind of the acro side of things with these in HD, I think, if there's a point
[2325.17] NJ: where you can fly gray acro in HD with it to the point where people are like, you know, you're
[2330.29] NJ: flying a three inch or and then you're actually just flying this little work that you can put in
[2334.53] NJ: your pocket. That's that's kind of awesome, I think. But yeah, I was thinking because if we think
[2340.69] Curry: about where things have come from two years ago, and the sort of cameras we were having and the
[2345.89] Curry: sort of size of quads we're having, I'm wondering if like a year or two from now, we'll get HD cine
[2352.53] Curry: whoops but the tech in it will have a camera with the ability to stabilize things a little bit like
[2360.21] Curry: the GoPro seven black, for example, just shrinking down and the tech getting better that way. That
[2365.57] AndyRC: would be somebody somebody messaged on one of my videos saying that Cadex are coming out with a
[2371.33] AndyRC: 4k version. Yeah, I heard this. Yeah, I mean, I'm kind of thinking, get the 1080p version
[2379.49] AndyRC: working. Perfect. I mean, it's great. Don't get me wrong. It's probably my favorite. But there's
[2385.49] NJ: room for improvement. You know, Andy, that won't happen as straight passed it to the next big
[2392.85] Curry: thing. Well, it's really easy to put a different sensor in, isn't it? It's less easy to sort of
[2397.09] NJ: talk about digital image stabilization. I mean, working better. Exactly. Talking about fixes,
[2402.77] NJ: there was something because Andy alluded to this. Remember, I had this guy to review a little while
[2408.77] NJ: ago, which is the 349 plus by dietone. And they went right around the houses to try and fix a
[2415.09] NJ: problem that actually lay with run cam, which was that they were using a lens that was basically
[2420.53] NJ: too small. And the split at this particular split too many was or micro whichever it is,
[2427.41] NJ: was producing a lot of jello. And they tried to fix that physically with dampeners and various bits
[2432.93] NJ: to try and sort of float this shell to see if they could reduce the jello. But what run cam did on
[2439.01] NJ: the quiet was actually take that camera and then fit a M12 lens to it. But they didn't tell people
[2447.01] NJ: they were doing it and they didn't call it a different version. They just kind of did it on
[2451.49] NJ: the sly and upset a lot of people. But I did get this. This is also turned up a three inch quad.
[2457.01] NJ: This is the side net, side net, saggents. No, it's what's the baby one called?
[2465.09] NJ: How do you pronounce it? Sigma. There you go. That's what it's called.
[2471.73] AndyRC: Can you see the lens difference? Can you see the lens difference? That's a coincidence because today
[2476.69] AndyRC: this video I'm reviewing, they do, what you've got is the standard version and they've released
[2485.17] AndyRC: the pro version with 15 state amount is on it. Well, this thing feels like it's gonna go like
[2491.73] NJ: a rocket anyway. But yeah, can you see the lens difference between the two? So there's the
[2495.89] NJ: upgraded lens that they did with the M12. And then you can see the smaller lens on the diatone.
[2503.01] AndyRC: Do you think that M12 will fit on the diatone? Very just. I think it probably needs a bit of
[2511.33] NJ: maybe a little bit of dremeling. But yeah, this really is. It's not the first time actually
[2519.73] Curry: chemists screwed up on that. I remember getting that one of the first microswifts and their
[2526.69] Curry: initial 2.3 mil lens created Jell-O. It seemed to fit in okay and fine, but they had to replace
[2533.57] Curry: those lenses. But only if you said, hey, I seem to have a problem here. What's going on? They said,
[2537.73] Curry: oh, yeah, yeah, here's a replacement lens. It's like there's no, they don't talk about it or
[2543.49] Curry: go out of their way to replace it. It's like, yeah, if you tell us you've got a problem,
[2547.89] AndyRC: then think about replacing it for you. Well, I mean, if you were running a business,
[2552.53] AndyRC: you'd probably do the same thing because it's going to cost you money every single time.
[2558.77] AndyRC: A reputable company, for example, you talked about Peter FPV putting out the statement and
[2566.29] AndyRC: all of that. That's the way to do it, isn't it? But you're going to lose a fortune. They said
[2573.97] AndyRC: that there had been 100 cases. Did you see that they had the two boxes of
[2579.25] AndyRC: quads that they were testing and blowing up? Yeah, that must have cost an absolute fortune.
[2588.21] AndyRC: I was impressed with it. Although, at the same time, you got to say, shouldn't that stuff be
[2593.73] AndyRC: caught before it gets to that point? Do you know what I mean? I don't know.
[2599.73] Curry: They weren't flying them hard enough, were they? That's what they found. They were flying them
[2603.57] Curry: around and they're like, yeah, this looks final for us. I think that is an issue. I don't think
[2609.97] AndyRC: they have a lot of space to fly. I think they do a lot of indoor flying, a lot of car park flying,
[2616.13] AndyRC: and then we've got these big fields and we do full throttle and they explode. I think that's
[2622.61] Tony: what it's about, maybe. I think everyone should stop going 6S and go 3-inch, 850 milliamp.
[2630.37] Tony: I think if you got two of the diatones and went racing with them, I think you'd do pretty well.
[2638.05] AndyRC: Oh, they're so rapid. I got news for you, Tom. Not only is 3S rapid, there's actually
[2651.09] AndyRC: a binding fly coming out called the Astro X and it's a 6S 3-inch quad. It's got 2,900 kV,
[2664.53] AndyRC: 1,505 stater motors. I've literally messaged them today. I've said, what battery
[2673.73] AndyRC: currently exists that you would use for that? I'm waiting for a response,
[2678.45] AndyRC: but it's called the Astro X. They do a 4S version as well, but I'm really interested in that.
[2687.41] AndyRC: If I was racing 3-inches, I don't understand why everyone's not racing 3-inch.

[3371.89] NJ: that's based on a trajectory of popping the throttle and letting it follow that natural curve,
[3377.65] NJ: getting a perfect 360-degree roll over that drop, over that trajectory.
[3383.81] NJ: I think maneuvers like that is if you've got really good mid-stick information,
[3389.33] NJ: the heavier the curve is, the more soft it is in the middle, and you tend to have kind of like
[3394.05] NJ: the batshit crazy super rate, which most people just go to the end of the stick for,
[3398.93] NJ: and you've got the little adjustment, which you get for your really nice smooth flying,
[3402.69] NJ: but then in the middle with an aggressive S or an aggressive curve rather,
[3407.65] NJ: you can't necessarily find that really nice feel and information.
[3412.85] NJ: I'm always aiming to get it that bit more linear in the middle for that exact reason.
