[285.63] Andy: It's 85 millimeters. When it first came out, mine caught fire and NJ's didn't.
[293.95] Andy: And they did a full investigation and they said that it was some sort of dodgy soldering on the
[302.67] Andy: ESC boards or something like that. They said only 1% of all units sent out actually had this
[312.11] Andy: issue. I think they said 100 cases out of 2000 units. That's more than 1%, isn't it? I don't know.
[319.87] Andy: Not that great at maths, but anyways, yeah, that video has just gone up and NJ, we talked a lot
[327.15] Andy: about it because, yeah, you had a theory that the pits were too high and that was the cause of why
[333.95] Andy: ESCs were going up. It made a lot of sense. Yeah, so I basically-

[345.39] Andy: It's kind of hard to say because a lot of people think that they shouldn't be a thing and some
[351.15] Andy: people, they're like Marmite really. Some people love them and some people hate them,
[359.07] Curry: so it's kind of difficult. What is the NDRC's choice without clarifying it for different
[365.39] Curry: people like different things? What is your favorite one then? How long have you got,

[395.71] Andy: I think the reason why I like that one is because it's a 75 millimeter, so it's small enough to
[404.59] Andy: sort of, you can just about fly around the house and you can fly outside. It will do some dodgy
[412.91] Andy: stuff outside, but the reason why- Well like me in the bushes. Yeah, like you when we're in Wales
[420.19] Tony: and you see a dog or something. Doesn't it fall out of the sky if you have, did I say that on
[428.99] NJ: telemetry on or something? It's not always the case, but it can be an influence. The biggest
[434.75] NJ: problem with those crazy bee boards is the fact that they have an antenna that is just rather
[440.59] NJ: than have a shielded section and then the exposed element for that 2.4 element, what they instead
[448.75] NJ: do is just have the active element straight off the base of the board, which is immediately
[453.47] NJ: covered by the battery and everything else and often you'll find that when you pick most people's
[459.07] NJ: up, that little antenna's curved at 90 degrees and you're meant to have your antenna as straight
[465.79] NJ: as possible and somewhere out of the way of the battery and unfortunately it really does mess
[471.95] NJ: with the range. So it's more range than anything going wrong? Well, what I did was I bound it in
[478.91] Andy: D8 mode because I don't really use the telemetry thing anyways. Yeah, that's a better idea. Yeah,
[486.19] Andy: because in D8 mode that disables telemetry and you still get the telemetry. The only telemetry
[493.47] Andy: I use is RSSI and in D8 mode, the RSSI feeds through on an aux channel. So it's only really
[502.35] Andy: a problem if you're into like Lua scripts and stuff like that. So yeah, that one's my favorite
[509.39] Andy: because I go to this sports hall that I fly at and it's just perfect for in there, but this be a...

[1173.36] Frank: Yeah, that one was built in the UK like 20 years ago or something for the US Air Force
[1182.48] Frank: to have as a kind of permanent eye in the sky over Afghanistan, essentially.
[1192.64] Frank: There's a radio controlled one that they did as a test.
[1195.6] Frank: So it's like the one is sort of, you know, that sort of size one that just to test all the whole
[1201.6] Frank: because the idea is it's a blimp and I built something, but it's heavier than air just and
[1207.6] Frank: then it's got uses the aerodynamics of this very custom designed blimp to give it lift.
[1213.68] Frank: So it's kind of a lifting wing body.
[1218.0] Frank: But as a blimp shape, so it's kind of uses and it uses the propellers as well.
[1222.8] Frank: So it's kind of like a multirotor wing.
[1228.48] NJ: It becomes efficient in transitional lift.
[1231.04] NJ: It gets transitional lift rather.
[1233.28] NJ: That's interesting.
[1234.48] NJ: Did you ever see the robots that they had repairing them that would go on the inside

[1387.52] Frank: They went, oh, that's a bit stupid of an idea.

[1392.32] Frank: And we thought, no, it's not.

[1398.16] Frank: when you've got like the Taliban who have the missiles
[1403.68] Frank: that the Americans and the British gave them in the 70s or whatever,
[1407.68] Frank: then you're not worrying about AK-47s.
[1411.28] Frank: So yeah, it was like, it's not going to work.

[1417.36] Frank: So they mothballed it and just boxed it up again for ages.
[1420.64] Frank: And then, yeah, these Brits raised the cash to buy it back
[1426.88] Frank: for like a tiny fraction of what they spent on building it.
[1430.88] Frank: And then just to kind of prove that they could do it,
[1435.52] Frank: they've done a load more work in terms of getting it to be a hybrid
[1439.2] Frank: and all sorts of funny stuff, setting up the computer controls
[1442.72] Frank: so that a normal pilot can do it without having to go through
[1446.32] Frank: months of training.
[1448.24] Frank: They built a simulator.
[1451.36] Andy: Oh, yeah, I saw that.
[1452.64] Andy: I saw a video of the simulator.
