[1006.94] Curry: So what you can do, you can take a raw hex file with a bootloader
[1011.18] Curry: from the R2Pilot, use Betaflight to flash that.
[1015.82] Curry: And at that point, you can go into Mission Planner, connect to it,
[1018.7] Curry: and set it up as an R2Pilot quad,
[1021.66] Curry: except now you've got a built-in OSD and stuff.
[1025.1] AndyRC: Mission Planner, I just, yeah, that, like, as soon as somebody showed me a Phantom,
[1032.7] AndyRC: I was working with, like, PixHawk and Mission Planner,
[1036.3] AndyRC: and as soon as somebody showed me a Phantom 4, I was like, right, R2Pilot dead to me,
[1042.78] AndyRC: because it was just so complicated.

[1047.02] Curry: It does look, I've only used it, I had an APM, I bought a cheap APM,
[1051.5] Curry: and I tried getting a quad fly on it, and it was already, like, too late,
[1054.86] Curry: because it's like, we're not developing on this anymore, it's paper.
[1057.58] Curry: And I put it into auto-tune mode, and watched the quad,
[1061.18] Curry: and the quad came out of auto-tune mode, like this, I'm hovering.

[1066.3] Curry: So I've tried it again, and already I'm like,
[1068.78] Curry: well, there's real big annoyances with it.
[1070.78] Curry: Like, for example, I plug a GPS into UART1 to check it's working on beta flight,
[1075.18] Curry: and I was like, oh, this is cool.
[1076.46] Curry: So I go to R2Pilot, and R2Pilot says, no, you have to have that in UART6.
[1081.26] Curry: UART1 is not the way to do it.
[1083.26] Curry: It's like, why?
[1083.9] Curry: Why can't I rearrange it?
[1084.78] Curry: And you can't.
[1085.66] Curry: All flight modes have to be set up on Channel 5.
[1089.66] Curry: So it's like, I have to do stupid things with switches to get six modes in there.
[1094.62] Curry: And then it's lack of flexibility about things.
[1097.66] Curry: But people keep telling me that one thing that R2Pilot is, is very, very well developed.
[1105.18] Curry: So at least as far as the planes go,
[1107.82] Curry: Lee was saying, like, you know, iNav's great,
[1109.74] Curry: but R2Pilot is way ahead of it in terms of what it can do.
[1113.34] Curry: So I didn't manage to really use it before,
[1115.98] Curry: so I was quite interested to see how it would go.
[1118.62] Curry: Just trying out, you know, a cheap OF4 board
[1121.42] Curry: and a little 10-quid GPS to see what it does, really.

[2400.03] AndyRC: When there's a missing gap, for example,
[2403.31] AndyRC: there's this, oh, the access protocols encrypted
[2406.67] AndyRC: so that nobody can copy the receivers.
[2410.51] AndyRC: That's completely made up because there's no information.
[2416.27] AndyRC: But if OpenTX remains open, access protocol is open.
[2422.11] AndyRC: And therefore, anybody can use it, including Jumper.
