[243.28] AndyRC: not then you get punished but if you select them all as non child friendly

[266.4] AndyRC: a long time that you had to be 13 to have an account but
[270.88] AndyRC: I think what what has caused this is some of the biggest channels are
[277.36] AndyRC: these channels where they are reviewing children's toys and of course you know
[283.2] AndyRC: um parents are going to want their kids to
[286.96] AndyRC: to look at them so it's YouTube to me it's them wanting to
[293.44] AndyRC: make more books on more advertising and stuff
[297.84] AndyRC: some weird some weird some weird stuff's been happening though
[302.24] AndyRC: um like I've been posting videos um you know to do with RC and people have
[308.96] AndyRC: been putting in the comments and there's I think they've been
[311.76] AndyRC: trialing something uh before this announcement because
[315.76] AndyRC: they were saying all of my recommended videos are like children's toys
[320.0] AndyRC: what what have you put in the tags and I'm like nothing
[323.2] Jack: I don't know if any of you guys yeah that's kind of
[326.64] Jack: one of the reasons why we've got painless here as well because you you
[329.44] Jack: you you've probably you're fairly child friendly aren't you
[333.68] Lee: I really try to be because my wife's a teacher
[336.96] Lee: uh and her her classes always end up finding out at some point that her
[341.04] Lee: husband is a youtuber so obviously primary school kids think that being
[344.96] Lee: I'm unbelievably cool so I have so I'm always cognizant at the fact
[349.68] Lee: there's lots of underage kids watching the channel which is why
[353.6] Lee: uh with the exception of probably the one swear word that I've already done
[357.36] Lee: don't be daft of course it's not that um I try not to I mean most of you that
[362.32] Lee: speak to me uh in the real world will know that I'm
[365.68] Lee: I'm quite swearing in real life anyway you know uh but
[368.88] Lee: but for the channel I'm super careful about it and if anybody
[372.88] Lee: makes any use any foul language or anything in the comments
[376.64] Lee: I have filter setup that automatically kind of put that into spam
[380.56] Lee: yeah because because I what I would hate to happen would be one of
[385.28] Lee: uh you know for my wife to have a conversation with one of the parents or
[388.48] Lee: the kids that she's teaching who had used a word that they'd read on
[392.16] Lee: one of my videos in one of the comments um that you know I I would just feel
[397.44] Lee: horrible so so that's partially the reason and
[399.84] Lee: also there's two there's two swearing tends to come
[403.92] Lee: with a lot of negativity it's not always like
[407.44] Lee: um what's that the the lovely chap that always swears a lot the
[411.76] Lee: is getting quite old now pewdiepie no no no the the community billy conley
[416.8] Lee: billy conley uses swearing in a very fun light-hearted way
[420.48] Lee: most of the swearing that I see in comments are usually part of a tirade or
[425.12] Lee: someone uh personally attacking somebody else
[428.24] Lee: so so it's not appropriate I don't think it's appropriate to have it in
[431.92] Lee: in a youtube channel particularly where mine's supposed to be about was all
[435.76] Lee: sharing information and helping each other out and helping get more out the
[439.12] Lee: hobby you know calling somebody a face or
[442.72] Lee: something or even worse is just it's not really constructive
[446.48] Lee: everyone you know the people forget that we all came into this hobby
[450.64] Lee: on day one not having a clue what we were doing
[453.44] Lee: and when people have been doing it for six seven eight years uh
[456.56] Lee: it's hard to remember back to those days when you didn't know what the
[459.36] Lee: difference between an ESC and a BEC was and just because someone else doesn't
[463.52] Lee: know today doesn't mean they're an idiot it just means they haven't
[466.72] Jack: come across that took me ages to learn the vocabulary
[469.76] Curry: the best well what the sorry I say what the
[473.28] Curry: fortunately I'll let you speak in a moment Jack just hold there a sec
[476.96] Curry: the the the youtube definition is it's not so much about being child friendly
[481.2] Curry: because I think many of us sort of strive to be quite
[484.24] Curry: friendly on the channels it's more about you have to define if your videos are
[488.32] Curry: targeted specifically at children so it's like are you making this for a
[492.08] Curry: child specifically as opposed to being child friendly
[494.88] Curry: because I was a bit nervous at first by saying these aren't made for kids
[498.96] Curry: because am I saying they're made for adults and you're not you're just
[501.68] Curry: basically saying I am not targeting this at under 13 year olds
[504.8] Curry: I'm not trying to say this these are for under 13 so
[508.48] Curry: you're perfectly safe to say these are for adults
[511.44] Jack: and that's fine yeah I might yeah it's to do with um
[517.44] AndyRC: targeting children the thing the thing that worried me
[522.88] AndyRC: was the hey jackson because I'll show just talk
[528.56] AndyRC: the thing that worried me is that the RC hobby
[533.12] AndyRC: if you buy like um say a quadcopter from I don't know
[538.0] AndyRC: wherever like some some toy store it says um
[544.08] AndyRC: for ages 14 and above so I kind of thought well
[548.96] AndyRC: uh you know there's no swearing in the videos that I make
[554.88] AndyRC: but if I'm review if I'm reviewing a product
[559.2] AndyRC: where it says for ages 14 and above and you know you're saying that that's
[566.08] AndyRC: targeted at kids they'll say no could they say no no it's not that that
[572.16] AndyRC: products for 14 and above and we're gonna demonetize all of your
[577.2] AndyRC: videos and disable all your comments and
[579.92] AndyRC: then because that's the penalty so so I just didn't risk it what about you
[585.28] AndyRC: Wayne did you have you gone not aimed for
[588.48] Curry: kids or not yeah yeah as as I just mentioned
[592.16] Curry: I was slightly concerned by saying it's not for kids that you were
[596.32] Curry: sort of saying I'm a mature channel but you're not you're just
[599.84] Curry: essentially saying this is not targeted at children um so yeah I've already

[606.16] Curry: yeah that's what I did because you could just then carry on regardless without
[609.36] Curry: any extra worries or hassles yeah but but with you
[614.32] AndyRC: you're saying that you went like no no no no no I would agree I don't
[620.16] Lee: think it's for children I I wouldn't expect a lot of the children
[623.52] Lee: to be buying k-pay into twos and and argue plain builds but um
[628.64] Lee: I I'm I'm saying that although I'm going to say it's not for children
[632.48] Lee: I'm still aware that lots of children still watch the content so I'm kind of
[636.64] Lee: you know I'm always aware of that um because you know people are making
[640.72] Lee: some great comments in the in the chat and
[642.96] Lee: it's about uh although we're all probably mentally
[646.64] Lee: 12 13 years old because you know we do what we do
[649.84] Lee: but um but it it is one of those fun parts of the hobby
[654.24] Lee: that it just it can it does cover all ages so you can't
[657.52] Lee: you know it's tricky isn't it because because we could make a video that
[660.64] Lee: somebody who's at the start of secondary school and
[663.28] Lee: building a drone as part of their dnt course
[666.0] Lee: with their teacher will find it as useful as somebody who's a 56 year old
[669.76] Lee: guy in the middle of australia hello to all you 56 year old men in the
[673.28] Lee: middle of australia by the way you know you don't know it so yeah I
[677.12] Lee: think I think you have to and then if you do accidentally have
[680.64] Lee: mature content the odd swear word or you're looking at stuff that
[684.08] Lee: isn't appropriate for the younger audience then it's like it
[686.88] Lee: it's it's it sounds like it it's a to comply with some legislation isn't it

[694.96] Curry: well yeah but it didn't doesn't it's said it
[698.0] Curry: literally it doesn't we don't care where you are in the world we have to

[706.4] AndyRC: mini air show um this uh little lad he must have been
[710.16] AndyRC: eight years old he was with his dad and it was like oh
[713.36] AndyRC: you know he's your biggest fan have you got any stickers can i have
[717.04] AndyRC: can he have his picture taken with you and it
[720.56] AndyRC: it really made me think uh where i need to you know
[724.56] AndyRC: i didn't realize obviously his dad and him watched the videos
[730.72] AndyRC: together but it uh it really made me think about you
[734.96] AndyRC: know i need to be careful what i say because you know there are
[739.52] AndyRC: you know with with uh parental guidance or pg i guess you could say
[745.92] AndyRC: you can have young people watching your channel
[748.8] AndyRC: and you know this kid wanted to come to my car
[754.16] AndyRC: just to get the sticker from me you know it was it was a really
[758.4] Curry: it was really coming back to my car i got some good stickers for you
[761.36] AndyRC: it was uh it was a really sweet moment but it really made me think about
[766.32] AndyRC: you know how i present myself on my channel because uh you know i don't do
[773.28] Curry: left row now that's been my only problem because i've
[777.84] Curry: i've deliberately been quite careful on the channel about keeping it nice and
[781.6] Curry: child friendly because my daughter's at school
[784.32] Curry: her friends know i do this in fact she says dad you're the most
[787.92] Curry: second famous person because damn that guy that does
[791.52] Curry: round the world yacht racing in my daughter's school however
[794.8] Curry: the only time i've gotten to trouble is when i was
[797.76] Curry: in the lounge with my family and i pressed play on a facebook message from
[802.0] Curry: tony where it ended up with a slight tirade of
[805.84] Curry: many words and my wife said i don't think you ought to do that show
[810.88] Curry: because of that other than that it's all good
[814.4] Jack: oh my word um are you right painless i'm i'm i'm fine it was just that we were
[822.88] Lee: talking about uh kids knowing at the end uh james mentioned in the
[826.72] Lee: chat that my lad knows painless 360s voice from across the house
[830.24] Lee: and i read it as i was literally taking a sip of beer and i nearly spat it all
[834.0] Lee: over my um my keyboard so thanks for that james i'd
[837.36] Jack: just like to remind you that your voice that kid's the same as hearing

[860.56] Lee: well the reason i'm here is because i was watching the first half of the show
[864.4] Lee: last week and i pinged uh frank to say i've actually
[869.6] Lee: got them so all the speculation questions you guys
[872.08] Lee: had i thought i can come on and just answer it because i've obviously had
[875.12] Lee: them in my pool and uh frank said maybe this maybe this
[878.4] Lee: week isn't the best bet because we're having some technical problems which
[881.36] Lee: seems to be the you know standard operating procedure for
[884.24] Lee: for the show so we said come on next week
[887.28] Lee: so here i am with goggles so um i can give you a quick overview
[893.2] Lee: but um i just wondered if if you guys could kind of run through some of the
[897.44] Lee: questions that you'd had or the the questions that you still
[900.32] Lee: are burning in your mind and then we could kind of use that to
[903.76] Lee: to talk about the goggles and i can go through the specs
[906.8] Jack: can Andy RC touch them if he gets a new phone
[910.56] Lee: if Andy buys a new phone so i can ring him up
[914.0] Lee: i am more than happy to meet up and he can he can have a good go
[917.84] AndyRC: on the goggles have a good go and both then had to add on the goggles
[925.44] Lee: just to make sure i can't leave open into sentences in this company like that can
[929.52] AndyRC: i well um i'm actually saving up for some
[933.84] AndyRC: because uh i just i i think that the goggles
[938.4] AndyRC: that everybody wanted all along for like the last
[942.72] AndyRC: eight years and it seems to me that everybody has gone out and bought them
[947.76] AndyRC: from what i can see everyone's you know
[952.24] AndyRC: we've had from when the HD zero not not the OLED the first HD came
[958.88] AndyRC: out and everyone was like oh it's not quite
[961.84] AndyRC: good enough and now they just seem to have listened
[965.84] AndyRC: and they just have everything that um that everybody's been asking for
[972.56] Curry: from the start i suppose yeah we mostly had a bit of a
[980.08] Curry: slight whinge about the features that weren't in there but i suppose the big
[983.12] Curry: question is for a lot of people is if you had the HDOs are they worth the
[987.44] Curry: upgrade to the HDO2s do you get enough out of it do you think to to sort of
[992.48] Curry: is it worth spending the money again right i've just put them on because
[995.92] Lee: everyone in the chat saying i should be wearing them so for those listening in
[998.88] Lee: the audio part they are now perched on my head because it's spectacularly
[1002.16] Lee: difficult to wear earphones for the audio recording and put
[1006.16] Lee: fat sharks on and i've never realized that until this point in my life so

[1012.32] Lee: so um so i i think with Andy i've got to agree i think these
[1016.96] Lee: are what the HDOs should have been um it looking at these the big difference
[1023.44] Lee: is they've got the increased panel so you've got some new goggles coming out
[1027.36] Lee: which have this similar panel so it's gone up to 1280 by 960 pixels
[1032.64] Lee: uh but the big news is it's individually focused
[1036.88] Lee: i'm gonna have to take them off oh nick is i'm gonna take them off now because i
[1039.84] Lee: can't show you in there and of course i have to audio describe
[1042.96] Lee: everything don't i but on the bottom for those of you that are
[1046.48] Lee: watching we seem to be stuck on wane but uh in the little thing at the bottom
[1051.6] Lee: so there is um individual focus for each eye
[1056.24] Lee: that for goes from i think it's plus two to minus six
[1060.08] Lee: and the ipd adjustment's a lot bigger so it goes from
[1063.68] Lee: 54 to 74 i think the original ones were something like 59 to 69
[1068.16] Lee: and the actual width of the look at that makes me look like something
[1072.32] Lee: that rainbow six that way if you turn them the other way around
[1075.44] Lee: look like i've got night vision goggles um
[1078.96] Lee: the the the actual width of the goggles themselves is about five millimeters
[1083.44] Lee: wider so if you've got a really wide brow uh you can you can fit them easier
[1088.4] Lee: but what what i found with them uh is the bigger field of view is 46
[1093.36] Lee: degrees up from 37 now i've got used to 37 degrees because i
[1098.4] Lee: i've been using the HDOs as a daily driver and i've been happy with 37
[1102.56] Lee: but going from 37 to 46 it's a it's it's a bit like that guy in there do
[1107.84] Lee: you remember that old manta res advert where he was sat in a in an
[1111.36] Lee: armchair in a in a big room and when the stereo
[1114.4] Lee: started he kind of got pushed backwards and all his
[1116.8] Lee: hair was swept backwards by the power of the
[1119.2] Lee: sound it's kind of like that for your eyeballs
[1122.72] Lee: the the individual um focus because i've had all the goggles
[1129.28] Lee: i'm sure you guys have as well where they've tried to do the individual
[1132.08] Lee: focus thing and the result was the wasn't
[1135.44] Lee: particularly good and it's quite fuzzy this works really well and i have a
[1139.52] Lee: 0.25 difference between my left and my right eye
[1143.04] Lee: and i didn't realize what a big deal that was in my HDOs until i tried these
[1147.6] Lee: and i focused them perfectly for each eye
[1150.56] Lee: and that little bit of eye strain that you get with goggles you know when you
[1153.28] Lee: take them off you kind of have to do that kind of you blink and you kind of
[1155.92] Lee: rub your eyes when you've been flying for a while
[1158.72] Lee: with these things you don't get that at all it just looks
[1162.08] Lee: like you're looking at the back of the goggles like somebody's got a big hole
[1165.44] Lee: in the back and you're looking out into the field
[1167.76] Lee: so i i think i would have loved these to have been the HDOs rather than the
[1172.64] Lee: HD2s um but you know there are a couple of
[1177.12] Lee: things on here that aren't brilliant um the power button it's got a power button
[1181.92] Lee: on it i'm showing everyone the screen it's where the
[1185.44] Lee: head tracker cable used to be and it's a little touch button
[1189.68] Lee: um it gets shipped in uh in legacy mode has a little jumper on the board behind
[1195.04] Lee: it and legacy mode is where if you plug it
[1198.08] Lee: in it powers it up so let me just plug them in i'll show you
[1200.72] Lee: so if i plug them in it powers up right don't have to press
[1206.32] Lee: anything and the button actually turns the fan on and off
[1210.0] Lee: if you move the jumper across then the power button works as a power button
[1215.28] Tony: so they're actually hey tony it's tony from texas
[1221.68] Tony: texas i can't see myself so what can you see uh we see from about

[1548.08] AndyRC: the compact goggles and a large field of view
[1552.16] AndyRC: is blurring edges um i know i'm trying to think what goggles they were
[1558.72] AndyRC: that had a oh yeah they were that i don't weigh
[1562.32] AndyRC: v2s which they don't make anymore and those had a 46 degree field of view
[1567.84] AndyRC: and they were just on the edge of being blurred so what what are these like
[1575.36] Lee: fit for you well these are a completely different set of optics again for those
[1581.04] Lee: of you listening on the podcast you can't
[1583.68] Lee: really see but they that there's no diopter support in
[1586.72] Lee: these so if you're having astigmatism then
[1589.12] Lee: these are probably not going to be the goggles for you but the
[1592.48] Lee: they are completely different um so these spherical lenses at the front
[1599.92] Lee: actually work um really really well so for me they're
[1604.48] Lee: pin sharp but the the ipd adjustment being bigger
[1608.88] Lee: uh works really well but the but and it kind of links back to that question
[1614.08] Lee: you had about the the big thing at the front
[1616.24] Lee: the the fat shark logo so all the reviewers who have had these
[1621.6] Lee: these are pre-production units now what what tends to happen when manufacturers
[1626.96] Lee: make stuff like this is they'll do a limited run of um once
[1630.48] Lee: all the tooling is set up to do a limited run of the product
[1633.36] Lee: and it will it might be 10 15 20 units just to make sure that everything's all
[1637.52] Lee: tickety-boo down the line if it is and the product comes out and it's right
[1641.84] Lee: then they're good to go if they go through the process and find there's
[1645.04] Lee: problems with the tooling or manufacturing or whatever
[1647.68] Lee: then they can tweak it before they start it now this these all went through
[1651.68] Lee: beautifully and half of them went through with the printing on half them
[1655.6] Lee: went through without the printing on uh of course i got ship one without the
[1659.12] Lee: printing on uh so i put the sticker on the front
[1663.28] Lee: which is actually part i actually like the bigger logo to be honest
[1666.88] Lee: yeah yeah but now now the greg at fat shark has seen it it says well actually
[1671.84] Lee: i quite like that so if there are bigger logos in future i'm
[1675.28] Lee: sorry that's my fault uh so all i did was just put the stick

[1680.16] Lee: uh but but to answer your question i think
[1683.28] Lee: the really tricky thing with goggles like this particularly with brand new optics
[1687.04] Lee: is you've got to try and um and see what see how they work for your eyes
[1692.16] Lee: because you know when we did the hdo's and you came over and you brought your
[1695.68] Lee: diopters you know you stuck them in you had a go
[1699.04] Lee: um but the weird thing with those hdo's if you remember
[1703.12] Lee: i had one of the early sets of the hdo's tried them and they were pin sharp to
[1706.56] Lee: the corners beautiful image and then something weird
[1709.44] Lee: happened with manufacturing and the first batch that got shipped out from
[1712.96] Lee: fat shark had an issue if you remember yeah we have this whole you know fuzzy
[1717.36] Lee: gate so so everyone came onto my videos and
[1720.16] Lee: going you're a lion booger fuzzy gate what what was fuzzy gate
[1724.8] Lee: the image was fuzzy really i didn't know that
[1728.32] Lee: so so what it was that the way the optics had been put together there was a
[1731.92] Lee: problem with a handful of units and they were shipped out and
[1735.44] Lee: lots of people who got them uh came onto my video and basically
[1739.76] Lee: had a problem because i said they were pin sharp and their particular ones
[1742.88] Lee: weren't so that's all that was this episode was

[1810.88] Curry: where you really get the advantage from them so i was interested to know how
[1813.6] Lee: how it looks i haven't done it yet wayne i'm about to i'm about to start it

[1820.56] Lee: because i was away for halloween um i came back to a huge pile of
[1824.64] Lee: parcels so i've been playing catch-up um so so wayne i'm probably going to pick
[1829.36] Lee: your brains about the bite frost stuff that you did if you don't mind
[1832.32] Lee: speaking to greg at fat shark it sounds like they're
[1836.96] Lee: because because the way they've positioned this is really weird is that
[1839.84] Lee: the the position it's kind of a development platform
[1842.8] Lee: not for inexperienced fp videos have you seen all that stuff when they're
[1846.32] (hysterical laughter): listening for it no it was sort of put out as a
[1852.24] (hysterical laughter): here is that that was one of my little slightly weird things with it because
[1856.72] Curry: it was put out as like here's a pre-release of a system
[1859.76] Curry: for people to test um in a limited quantity i think there's like 250 units
[1865.44] Curry: produced um so it's kind of like you sort of you
[1869.84] Curry: can buy into the products and you can you can help
[1872.16] Curry: be a test it and we'll develop it from there
[1874.48] Curry: yeah but it's it's not really sort of a an open product as such
[1879.2] Curry: because there's there's hardware to buy if you want to develop for it you have
[1883.04] Curry: to buy the little chip if you want to develop the camera for it
[1885.92] Curry: and i don't think there's anything people can do
[1888.64] Curry: in the code itself that's kind of through the hd zero supply stuff
[1893.44] Curry: and then the producers can develop their own code
[1896.48] Curry: but um i i felt the results from it were pretty good
[1901.44] Curry: um although i had i had issues with i i didn't think it was very good in
[1906.96] Curry: range and i liked the way it broke up
[1911.36] Curry: because it was it's like analog static right and i felt
[1914.56] Curry: you could easily get used to that although the blocks of static were quite
[1917.36] Curry: big but when you compare it side by side with
[1920.24] Curry: analog especially if you're going to fly in 25
[1923.36] Curry: milliwatts um it's really quite quite noisy in
[1926.48] Curry: comparison to that so that was that was the only things there but
[1931.04] Curry: it's it's early days so it's going to depend how it goes from there
[1935.76] Lee: well yeah i mean early days i think is the way to
[1938.8] Lee: way to describe it because speak because greg was talking at fat shark
[1942.4] Lee: at the beginning of the week about the very latest firmware update that he was
[1946.0] Lee: going out to test that had added some new features and so i think if you've
[1950.0] Lee: got um one of these bite frost you've got to
[1953.36] Lee: basically act as like a beta tester and get the firmware and update it and be
[1957.2] Lee: part of the feedback loop and things um but i'm just fascinated to give it a
[1961.6] Lee: go because you know andy rc has got the ggi
[1965.84] Lee: hd stuff which he kindly let me have a go of and was very good
[1969.36] Lee: i'm just fascinated to kind of have a go of both and for
[1972.56] Lee: him and i to have a proper chat about it because the you know i loved connex
[1977.04] Lee: back in the day it wasn't perfect by a long stretch yeah i loved connex
[1981.04] Lee: um do you make i still i still got all the stuff down
[1984.88] Lee: stay active or quad with the connex system in fact that might be a great one
[1988.24] Lee: for me to put bite frost on actually because i'm not flying it
[1991.04] Lee: but um but that was a great system and and
[1994.08] Lee: there's i'm fascinated to see how well it well it's because a very very
[1998.48] Lee: difficult implementation from the uh ggi stuff it's more it's more like
[2003.76] Lee: what we as fpv flyers know you know in in that you
[2008.16] Lee: already have your goggles there's no module that you can plug
[2011.28] Lee: into your goggles yet hopefully fat shark will do that
[2014.0] Lee: but um maybe maybe when we get together next time
[2017.44] Lee: we'll have a we'll have a play with it wayne and um
[2020.16] Lee: we'll plug it in the hg02s and see how it all works but i'm really excited to
[2024.56] Curry: see how it actually performs yeah and i liked lots of elements of
[2029.36] Curry: the system because greg got quite upset with my video that i put out
[2033.44] Curry: um he felt i wasn't supportive enough about it essentially but
[2036.64] Curry: i liked lots of things about i like the fact that the vtx
[2039.92] Curry: is like a vtx and you can just put it in the existing quad
[2043.36] Curry: i think the camera needs to get a bit sharper but there's there's cameras
[2046.8] Curry: coming on board and i think the whole module needs to
[2050.24] Curry: shrink down a bit and and go in as a proper module instead of
[2053.68] Curry: a big thing you have to take a tripod with a ground station
[2058.0] Curry: but it was interesting to me because because when i was using the standard
[2060.88] Curry: goggles i flew it first and i thought this
[2064.48] Curry: looks okay but i don't think it looks any sharper and then i switched back to
[2067.68] Curry: analog flew it again i said actually this is a
[2070.16] Curry: this isn't sharp at all and i switched back again i was like yeah i can pick
[2073.2] Curry: much more details out yeah so i think it's it's you get a sharp
[2076.64] Curry: picture but that's that's what i was really interested to see
[2080.32] Curry: how you would think about it coming from high resolution goggles because
[2083.92] Curry: another friend of mine and rob we had rob on
[2087.04] Curry: a couple of weeks ago because he had both ggi and bite frost
[2091.36] Curry: one of the things he mentioned is the hdos are so good
[2095.36] Curry: that he didn't feel there was enough of a difference between a really good
[2098.88] Curry: analog system and bite frost and then at the same time
[2103.12] Curry: he doesn't know if he's going to continue with um ggi because it was
[2107.44] Curry: more hassle and he was getting better range and consistent
[2111.2] Curry: um latency out of analog so it's it's all it's all up in the air it
[2116.8] Curry: depends it depends a lot on your equipment
[2120.24] Lee: and how it's all put together it would say yeah and what you want and how you
[2124.0] Lee: fly i think i think the two systems are
[2125.84] Lee: coming from slightly different areas you know i think
[2128.48] Lee: that obviously the fat shark stuff is very much in the fat shark
[2132.24] Lee: immersion rc tbs kind of wheelhouse that you know
[2135.76] Lee: super low latency you know you know that's the kind of
[2138.64] Lee: gig they're all in um i did but ggi is just such
[2142.16] Lee: amazing technology in terms of fp you know range fpv transmission
[2147.68] Lee: all that stuff is is really great but um okay i might pick your brains then
[2152.0] Lee: brother if that's all right when when i come to do it um because
[2155.68] Lee: because i'm literally i took the plastic off it yesterday to start playing with
[2159.68] Lee: it and do some pictures and uh yeah i just got excited because it
[2164.24] Lee: looks and feels very much like an analog fpv system so to me it feels
[2169.84] Lee: really normal to to put it in the quad yeah i could
[2173.28] Curry: literally because i put mine in the coppers one so i could take
[2176.4] Curry: the vtx that was in there and swap it out with that one
[2179.6] Curry: just like five minutes to swap around the only thing i had to do because it
[2182.96] Curry: sticks out the back a bit further is just move some stuff about but
[2186.64] Curry: that going into an existing quad seems much more of an easy thing than
[2191.36] Curry: putting the the air unit which is quite a big square block isn't it
[2194.88] Lee: yeah yeah it is sorry and you mate we were talking over you

[2209.6] AndyRC: you know um i i said uh in a video you know i'm saving up for the hdo2s

[2227.68] AndyRC: thing and and you kind of answered this question really but um it depends what
[2233.84] AndyRC: you want to get out of fpv doesn't it you know if you want if you
[2239.36] AndyRC: want to fly in in the moment then the dgi thing you know you put the
[2245.52] AndyRC: goggles on you you're it's it's you know people say
[2249.36] AndyRC: it's like looking through a gopro but you you're more sort of cruising around
[2255.12] AndyRC: and enjoying the scenery whereas the bite frost
[2259.92] AndyRC: is trying to be better than analog like one upon analog um and then you
[2267.92] AndyRC: stick a gopro on the top to to do your recording and get your
[2273.44] AndyRC: you know when you watch your flight back so for me
[2277.12] AndyRC: the dgi system is for like flying it in the moment
[2280.96] AndyRC: to get the the ultimate sort of uh hd experience while flying and then
[2287.2] AndyRC: the bite frost is you know it's it's more to try and
[2291.6] AndyRC: improve what we've got with analog um so to me they're completely
[2297.52] AndyRC: different systems but i embrace both of them i think it's i
[2301.52] AndyRC: think it's just great that there's new stuff
[2304.96] AndyRC: coming in because you know for me and i said it in you know
[2311.2] AndyRC: um many videos uh like the hub like quadcopters and the hub in general
[2318.08] AndyRC: hasn't changed that much yeah we've seen little increments we've got the
[2321.68] AndyRC: you know little split cameras that came in and we've got the
[2325.44] AndyRC: the cine the cine loop craze but really it's just regurgitated stuff
[2332.8] AndyRC: you know people like like that seven inch became a
[2336.08] AndyRC: craze but it was like hang on it started off as
[2339.12] AndyRC: seven eight inch then we went down to five and we've gone
[2342.4] AndyRC: now we're going back it just goes around in circles you know circular we're back

[2349.04] Curry: toothpicks what are we calling them we're calling them toothpicks although
[2352.64] Curry: if you notice them slowly grow and the props get bigger and the

[2387.76] Lee: somebody's been flying fpv with this kind of stuff and for those people in
[2390.96] Lee: the audio i am holding up my fatshot goggles
[2393.68] Lee: if you're flying with this stuff um the fact that you have the modules
[2397.36] Lee: you know you can use your tbs fusion or your immersion rc or your
[2401.52] Lee: you know true dx four point whatever it is you're using for your analog
[2405.92] Lee: and then when you get your quad out with the hg system on you just pull the
[2409.44] Lee: module and you slap the other one in and that that i think i hadn't even
[2413.2] Lee: considered that but of course it means then
[2415.36] Lee: you don't have to retire or take umpteen lots of bags to the field you
[2420.32] Lee: can just have to take the extra module that's a really good point i mean thought
[2423.84] Curry: of that yeah all you want the i suppose the
[2427.52] Curry: holy grail there is a module that could handle
[2430.8] Curry: both something that can do hd and do analog
[2434.16] AndyRC: in a nice way yeah and record and record them both because
[2440.08] AndyRC: that's something that both dji and uh fatshot can't do is it's like
[2447.44] AndyRC: the the recording part in done in the goggle
[2451.68] AndyRC: for both it can't be done that that would be
[2454.96] Lee: something cool to see i think yeah it would be good the dvr in this
[2460.4] Lee: is the same dvr as it's always been i've started using a lot of
[2464.0] Lee: the tarsier and the what's the run cam one the hybrid
[2470.16] Lee: um in in in quite a few of my models now and i'm
[2473.52] Lee: i'm absolutely loving that the whole thing about not having to risk a gopro
[2476.96] Lee: will have the extra weight in these smaller wings that i've been
[2479.76] Lee: messing around with is just brilliant and to be honest i'm using the
[2484.08] Lee: the dvr footage less and less for um for making videos and kind of showing
[2490.0] Lee: people what the flight was like but the only thing i'd love to with the
[2493.36] Lee: dvr is a very simple way to record the last 20 seconds of the recording
[2497.84] Lee: because when you've been flying for 25 minutes and then you stuff it in the
[2501.2] Lee: ground and you don't know where your model is
[2503.6] Lee: and you have to scrub through all of those minutes you stood there at the
[2508.0] Lee: edge of the field looking like the right idea we've all
[2511.04] Lee: been there right i just want a button i can press that
[2513.36] Lee: just plays the last 20 seconds so i can see where it went in so i can go and
[2516.72] Curry: find it do you think i literally have to go on
[2521.28] Curry: my phone and say what are the controls for the fat shark dvr again
[2525.12] Curry: so now how do we play something but this far forward and rewinding things
[2528.8] Lee: really complicated i can't i have to figure it out every time i've
[2532.96] Lee: had a crash and it and while i'm panicking that the
[2536.16] Lee: battery's running down so if this doesn't work i'm gonna have to
[2539.36] AndyRC: try and use the rssi trick you obviously don't crash as much as me

[2624.8] AndyRC: that there is but immersion rc have got this power play thing haven't they and i
[2630.96] AndyRC: just wonder i know immersion rc and fat shark work very close

[2638.64] AndyRC: put with the conspiracy hat on is it a tactic
[2642.08] AndyRC: so that people go and get the immersion rc power play because
[2646.8] AndyRC: it it's a dvr that sits on the side of your didn't they actually have an

[2719.04] AndyRC: you know can't fit in the goggles but it's going to be way better than

[2727.12] Curry: slightly cyclic again doesn't it here's a dvr from about three four years ago and
[2732.48] Curry: it's i can't remember which one it is but
[2735.12] Curry: japan dvr made one and it's got a screen it's got the sd card and you just
[2739.2] Curry: you i just used to slip it inside of my goggles
[2741.6] Curry: and record that way and that was quite good although that was only 30 frames a
[2744.64] Curry: second back then but the same sort of design seems to have

[3229.2] Lee: receivers are internal so it looks but but there's quite a few goggles that
[3234.4] Lee: seem to be using similar size panels so i don't know whether that's just the
[3238.0] Lee: ones that everyone can get from the factories now
[3240.16] Lee: the 1280 by 960s but that but that might be a cheaper alternative for
[3244.16] Lee: those people who uh who don't like the fat shark brand

[3427.76] Lee: which isn't unusual for north witch all the houses in the center of the town are
[3430.88] Lee: built on stilts that's very quaint but um it's it's
[3434.32] Lee: been a while since it's broke its banks and we've just had horrendous rain
[3437.84] Lee: it's it does mean at the moment that all the stuff i can
[3441.12] Lee: that i can do on a bench and review on a bench is getting
[3444.0] Lee: used but i've got about three quads sat by the side of me
[3447.36] Lee: that i'm just waiting to get the flight footage for
[3450.96] Jack: yeah um andy i'll see you're northern uh we had a conversation
[3458.08] Jack: the other day um lee lee you're slightly northern
[3462.8] Lee: there's more i'm actually about 20 miles further north than he is
