Giveaway! [0.0] Jack: Hello and welcome to Let's Drone Out. The best, well the only UK FPV podcast [6.8] Jack: sponsored by the lovely people from our Patreon. Patreon.com forward slash Let's Drone Out. [12.88] Jack: In particular we'd like to thank these guys. Art Faulkner. Mikey Dredd. Wacky Wes. David Powell. [24.24] Jack: Thank you guys. You're the best. We can edit our podcast. Thank you. [59.09] Frank: Good evening and welcome to Let's Drone Out. This is episode 231, a Menace special. [66.61] Frank: And with us this week we have Tony Bojol. We have Mikey. Hello. We have Andy RC. How do you? [77.01] Frank: We have Curry Kitten. Hello. We have Greg from Menace. Hello everyone. And I am Frank. [85.57] Frank: And Tony, why don't you get us going with what you've managed to arrange for us this week? [93.41] Tony: I just thought we'd have Menace back on for a chat. He's got some new products and [99.09] Tony: Mikey's been heavily involved in it. So I thought we'd have a evening with a Menace guy. [105.25] Tony: Seeing as I'm team Menace, Mikey's team Menace and Mr. Menace himself is here. We can have a chat. [112.85] Greg: What have you been up to then Greg? [115.01] Greg: What have we been up to? Okay. So I'll just start on a personal note and then explain a few things [123.73] Greg: and then we'll move on to the products. But yeah, I've moved to a different country. I've moved over [131.65] Greg: to France. We wanted a slightly different lifestyle to what we're having in the UK. So we thought [137.81] Greg: we'd give France a go. So we moved over to France. It took a lot longer settling in than what we [144.29] Greg: expected. So if you haven't seen any new designs from Menace in the last six, seven months, [150.13] Greg: the reason is because we've been relocating. But now we're all settled here. I'm back in the [157.41] Greg: helm in designing away. So tonight, thank you for having us on the show. And we've got a product [166.93] Greg: we'd just like to talk about and go from there really. Cool. What is the product? Okay, so we [177.25] Greg: are known sort of predominantly for antennas. And what we've been working on is a frame. [185.49] Greg: Very nice. I think I have one of them. So we came out with a frame about, [195.89] Greg: it was over a year ago, we came out of a frame called the physics, which was aimed ultimately [201.49] Greg: at racing. And it was received really well in the marketplace and a lot of people adopted it and a [207.25] Greg: lot of people using it for racing. But as soon as you release a racing frame, a lot of people ask, [213.57] Greg: have you got a frame for FPV freestyle? And a few guys were using the physics for freestyle, [223.01] Greg: but it wasn't giving them the most enjoyable experience for freestyle, because obviously, [228.13] Greg: the physics frame was designed for, you know, agility and speed around a race circuit, [235.33] Greg: whereas freestyle frames are more or less designed around center of gravity balance and [242.29] Greg: just basically pure enjoyment for that floaty, flying, full on stunt experience. [250.29] Greg: So back at the beginning of 2019, Mikey, who's with us tonight, [263.57] Greg: he got in touch with me and he was saying, look, Greg, I've got this idea for a freestyle frame. [270.85] Greg: And if we take your SLAM frame, which was a frame we've done about three years ago, [278.29] Greg: and we redesign it with elements of the physics frame, we should be able to come up with a really [284.21] Greg: good freestyle frame. So me and Mikey had this discussion and I sort of said to Mikey, well, [290.53] Greg: how's your design skills? How's your 3D CAD skills? Do you fancy having a go at the whole thing? [297.57] Greg: And Mikey was like, yeah, come on, send it to me, send me the files. So that's what we've done. [303.41] Greg: And he got stuck in to come up with what we've got here today. [310.45] Tony: Very nice. Well, I've had the frame for six months and Fraser Steenenchach just wants to know [317.17] Tony: what it's called so he can bugger off, he said, because he thinks it's going to be called the [322.13] Tony: Tony frame. Well, it really is called. You should explain why he shouldn't bugger off, [329.17] Tony: first of all, maybe. Well, he's just being silly, he won't go, he's staying the tune. [334.29] Greg: Crazy, you have to stay because we're going to talk about loads of cool stuff. [339.33] Greg: The name, Mikey, do you want to give the name? Yes, it's Menes Dreadnought. [344.93] Tony: Dreadnought, is that something to do with your Mikey dread? [349.41] Mikey Dread: It's actually, well, it's one of the most feared battleships in World War One, actually. [359.01] Mikey Dread: Most powerful, most dangerous. Dreadnought, it means fear nothing as well. So it's just a cool [365.97] Mikey Dread: name. It is a cool name. It's kind of got a bit of Mikey dread in it as well. So a bit of a homage [371.97] Mikey Dread: to me putting a bit of effort into it, I guess. So Fraser, you thought it was going to be called [378.13] Mikey Dread: the Tony frame? Everybody in the team has been involved, so it could have been called the Tony [383.09] Curry: frame, to be fair. I should have called it the Flat Earther. So did you go through any prototypes [388.21] Curry: on the way you're getting it done? Yes. So you'd have to build them up over and over again, fly [393.49] Curry: them and say, I think we just sort of tweak this arm a bit, that sort of thing. That's right. So I [397.17] Mikey Dread: give Greg the original design that I've done on the 3D CAD. So he got that cut for me, which he'd [404.85] Mikey Dread: done locally in his house originally with all his equipment. And I flew that and basically [412.53] Mikey Dread: ironed out any problems that I was having. Probably flew it for probably four months before [419.89] Mikey Dread: any stress fractures come out in the frame or anything over a number of crashes. And [427.73] Mikey Dread: we made a few design changes and went from there, sort of thing. [431.57] Mikey Dread: And tried another frame and haven't broke a piece of carbon on that since. So that's the one we went [437.01] Tony: with. I must say, I've had this six months and crashed it a few times and I haven't broke [442.77] Tony: anything yet. Show us yours, Tony. What have you got on there? Hero 7, obviously a Menace antenna. [454.8] Tony: And Mikey, tell them about the battery situation because you don't put the battery on that way. [460.32] Mikey Dread: What's it called? It's toilet tank style, which is my favorite way to use the battery on the quad. [468.32] Mikey Dread: So basically, like Greg was saying earlier on, he had the Menace Slam 5, [473.12] Mikey Dread: which was my favorite frame. And what I would do to it, which I have one here, a snap one, [479.6] Mikey Dread: which they don't make anymore, unfortunately. And I used to cut the holes in a toilet tank [486.4] Mikey Dread: because I couldn't fit a GoPro on it. And it was the best flying frame I've ever flown. [491.84] Mikey Dread: And Greg stopped making it. And that's when I said, look, can we do something towards [500.24] Mikey Dread: the Slam 5? Because that was my favorite flying frame. And I wanted to get it flying as close as [504.32] AndyRC: I could to that as possible. For the viewers that might not understand the term toilet tank, [510.16] AndyRC: can we explain what that means? And obviously, it's the battery on the side, [517.04] Tony: but where does the name toilet tank come from? It originates from Jack, but he's not here to [523.36] Mikey Dread: defend himself. Well, maybe it's not even a right setting. [531.2] Tony: Yeah, I've called it that before. I've heard it called that as well. [534.56] AndyRC: What's the reason for calling it that, though? No one knows. [540.72] Greg: I don't know where the name toilet tank originates from, but I think I'm glad it's not just me. [546.24] Curry: No, I suppose it looks vaguely like the old fashioned systems up on the up on the top. [552.16] Curry: Although they weren't they weren't often faced off at a 90 degree angle from the rest of the [555.76] AndyRC: wall, to be fair. Well, we'll go with the term anyways, because we know what you mean. So you're [563.04] AndyRC: mounting the battery sideways. But this somehow you're finding is better for the center of gravity [569.52] AndyRC: for freestyle when it comes to things like prop wash and stuff like that, are you finding? [577.52] Mikey Dread: Just all right. When you kind of tighten the package up on a core copter frame, get it all [582.72] Mikey Dread: closer to the center of gravity and to the center of frames, it just seems to fly much better. [588.64] Mikey Dread: Got you. But you can also have the battery run in the normal way if you like on it. So, [596.32] Mikey Dread: you know, it's got option build options on it. [599.36] Tony: It does. Yeah, you can you can have it either way. I've been flying it to a tank and I must [604.24] Tony: do enjoy flying it that way. It does feel much nicer than the other way. Yeah, just [611.36] Tony: I don't know. It just feels bad to me. I don't know. Agreed. I think about it. Agreed. [617.2] Tony: I do like flying it. And you can if you've got a physics frame, you can swap [624.56] Tony: arms. So if you're out in the field and you've got a racing frame, you can and you want a freestyle [629.04] Tony: and you break a break an arm, which I've not done yet because they're what, five mil thick. [634.72] Greg: Yeah. I have to probably stop you there, Tony, because I think on the very first [641.28] Greg: prototypes of the Dreadnought, we were using the same fixing sensors as the physics. [648.64] Greg: But it became evident very quickly after the first prototypes that we wanted a system of [654.32] Greg: much stronger arms, not only for strength of the frame, but also to minimize vibrations. [661.92] Greg: So you get that silky smooth camera shots if you're doing that sort of FPV cinematic stuff. [667.52] Greg: So what we ended up doing between us was we worked out a system with the arms where all four arms, [675.2] Greg: they lock together in a unique way. It makes the whole five millimeter carbon layer where the arms [682.16] Greg: are pretty much like one piece of solid carbon, making it very rigid, very strong and very stable [691.36] Greg: for videoing. It is very good. So yeah, sorry, it doesn't take the physics arms. [702.48] Frank: Are there any other features on the frame that we should know about? [712.16] Frank: How well does it fit the new DJI stuff? Does that fit into it? [718.48] Greg: There's heaps of room in the frame itself. It's designed to take like your standard 36 millimeter [728.4] Greg: flight stacks or 30.5 millimeter fixings. It will also take a 20 millimeter flight stack, [736.4] Greg: but there's heaps of space in there. I must admit we haven't tried the DJI kit in there, [742.4] Greg: but looking at the specs of it all, it should fit in, no problem. [750.64] Greg: The design up front, currently it's designed for like a 19 millimeter FPV camera. So for the DJI [762.8] Greg: system, we'd probably have to change it or do a 3D printed part for the front end to cater for the [768.72] Greg: camera. But once that's done, yep, it should all go in, no problem. RC Labbotics asks, is it 4k [777.2] Greg: carbon? No, this one is actually 3k carbon. We stuck with 3k carbon because after the first [787.92] Greg: prototypes were onto the second and it turned out that this design was extremely strong. So [795.68] Greg: we kind of stuck with that because it was working really well for us. [801.76] Frank: Because I don't actually know myself, what's the difference between the different [805.28] Greg: k's of carbon? What does it mean? Anyone know? Precisely, I don't know. [817.92] Tony: Sorry, you can see it better in full. [822.64] Frank: Richard Boruck asks, what about 1080p carbon? Yeah, on the same way, Rich. [829.04] Tony: So you're doing a competition as well with something to do with how much it weighs, [836.16] Greg: is that right tonight? Yep, so right, for all the guys in the chat, let's just hold the frame up [841.6] Greg: again so you can see it. And you can also hop onto the website, we've got it on our website now. [847.52] Greg: So there's some clear pictures of it there. So yeah, what we will do, let's do a competition, [856.4] Greg: guess the weight of the frame, post what you think it weighs in the live chat, the nearest [864.24] Greg: one to the exact weight of the frame, and that's the weight of the frame for the carbon [868.56] Greg: with all the hardware fixing, as you see here. We will send out a goggle antenna pack to them. [879.52] Tony: I love that antenna pack. Very good. We've already got some people waiting in the chat [884.72] Tony: guessing. So keep guessing, guys. So what we've got there, 112. How many guesses [892.08] Curry: are people allowed? So I can already see two from one person. What each? Just trying to stop people [897.68] Curry: doing every single possible combinations. Also, we should say also that you can use a decimal [902.4] Tony: point and add some more figures after that. 111, 123, 99, 121, 98. I would suggest guessing to one [914.16] AndyRC: decimal place. Just to go back to the 4K carbon thing, I don't believe there is a 4K carbon. I [924.64] AndyRC: think it goes 3, 6, and 12. So it is how close the weave is, basically. Think of it like [934.8] AndyRC: if you had a 3D printer, the layer height kind of thing, or how much resolution. So you see the [945.6] AndyRC: weave of the carbon. If you went from 3K to 12K, the diamond shapes that we see would be [955.28] AndyRC: much smaller and condensed. So that's what it means. I don't think 4K carbon exists, [964.0] AndyRC: or it's not a standard if it does. It's 3, 6, and 12. So I'm reading here, it says that it's [971.52] Frank: the number of carbon fiber filaments in each bundle of carbon. So the higher K gets is stiffer, [983.36] Frank: but it's more brittle, for reasons. But lower K is a little bit less stiff, but has more... [997.04] AndyRC: Did you change the background to carbon fiber, or has that always been there? [1002.56] AndyRC: I always just noticed. Very good, Frank. Very clever. Thank you. [1011.68] AndyRC: Has anybody guessed the right weight whilst I was saying that? [1016.48] Tony: No, I'm looking. No. Oh, is there a near? Is there a near? [1024.4] Curry: That's the thing. If no one guesses right, someone is going to have to go through all this [1028.8] Curry: as I do closest. Somebody very near. [1035.68] Curry: Is there a recommended kit, or is it pretty much put what you like on there and it's going to fly [1040.88] Mikey Dread: good? On mine, I use all-in-one basically. That's probably the best route to go down. [1050.96] Tony: Probably is the best because of these quite thin arms. So I've done the same as you. [1057.92] Tony: Went with an all-in-one PSC, and then it's got really tough standoffs, isn't it? Metal standoffs. [1064.08] Tony: Have you gone 4S or 6S? Just stayed 4S, because all my batteries are 4S, [1070.48] Tony: and it's freestyle. I don't really need to change to 6S personally. But what about you, Mikey? [1076.48] Mikey Dread: 4S just making transition to 6S. [1079.52] Mikey Dread: Not you? You can use the menis props kits on the arms. They fit perfectly. [1086.08] Mikey Dread: Oh yeah, look at them. Nice. [1089.44] Jack: Show us your stack in there as well. [1096.93] Curry: Yeah, there's a fair amount of space left to do for more work. [1099.89] Mikey Dread: Been through the wars. [1102.93] Tony: Still going though. There's loads of space, isn't there? [1105.89] Mikey Dread: Yeah, the camera has plenty of protection as well. [1111.57] Mikey Dread: Yeah, I do love the protection on there. [1113.73] Mikey Dread: So does the antenna that's out the way as well, which is nice. [1117.33] Tony: Yeah, do the 3D printed parts on the website. [1121.01] Mikey Dread: Yeah, just print them off. [1123.57] Greg: Yep. If you go to the Dreadnought page on the menis website, [1127.73] Greg: there's a link there over to the 3D files on Thingiverse. [1133.73] Greg: These are the files that Mikey has designed. [1135.97] Greg: So there's the GoPro Session, and then a GoPro Hero, [1140.93] Greg: and then also there's the Antanamite for the Thrasher antenna. [1145.01] Tony: Okay, I've got the seven on here as well. [1147.49] Tony: Did you do that, Mike? [1149.01] Mikey Dread: Yeah, yeah. Yeah, I've done that for you, didn't I? [1152.93] Tony: Yeah, yeah, so I'll run the seven on there. I love it. [1156.93] Tony: Just even with the seven on it, still perfect balance. [1160.13] Tony: I mean, I just literally put the battery back a tiny bit. [1164.93] Mikey Dread: Yeah, that's why I've done extra holes so you can move it back and forth. [1169.25] Mikey Dread: Yeah, it's great. [1169.97] Mikey Dread: 360, 4S, different weight batteries. [1175.41] Mikey Dread: What cap package did you draw up the model in? [1179.17] Mikey Dread: Fusion 3D, yeah. [1182.29] Greg: Fusion 360. [1187.01] Mikey Dread: No longer were you working on it, Mikey. [1189.49] Mikey Dread: A long time. [1192.21] Mikey Dread: Yeah, I don't know. [1195.33] Mikey Dread: I kind of had ideas before I started it, [1198.53] Mikey Dread: through Emmett Gregg, and then we obviously got in the team chat [1202.05] Mikey Dread: and find out what everybody else was looking for in a frame, [1206.21] Mikey Dread: got their ideas, and then put it all together. [1208.61] Mikey Dread: But we knew from the beginning we wanted it to look like the physics, [1212.37] Mikey Dread: because that's a really nice looking frame, [1214.53] Mikey Dread: and that's why we wanted to base it around. [1216.61] Mikey Dread: I wanted the feel of the Sclam 5. [1220.29] Mikey Dread: That was important to me. [1223.65] AndyRC: Do you have a background, Mikey, in CAD, [1226.37] AndyRC: or is it a self-taught thing? [1229.01] AndyRC: Because I spent around about six hours in Tinkercad the other day, [1234.53] AndyRC: and I made a cube. [1238.61] AndyRC: Self-taught. [1240.93] AndyRC: A lot of phone calls to Gregg. [1243.65] Mikey Dread: Okay. [1246.13] AndyRC: I would love to get into, because thanks to NJ Tech, [1249.89] AndyRC: I'm really getting into 3D printing, [1251.81] AndyRC: but I want to make my own parts. [1253.81] AndyRC: I did make my own part using Tinkercad, [1256.45] AndyRC: which you can actually quite do a lot with Tinkercad, [1259.89] AndyRC: but it takes forever. [1262.85] AndyRC: But I imagine Fusion 360 is even more intense [1267.49] AndyRC: when it comes to making stuff, is it? [1272.77] Mikey Dread: I'm at the lower end of it, [1274.13] Mikey Dread: so when you're designing a frame, [1278.45] Mikey Dread: but you can do so much on it. [1280.37] Mikey Dread: Oh, I know. [1281.49] Mikey Dread: Based on very advanced and I'm nowhere near. [1285.17] Mikey Dread: Learning every time I use it, basically, [1287.41] Mikey Dread: well, I think most people are. [1289.01] Mikey Dread: But as a guy, if you ever want to learn how to use it, [1292.77] Mikey Dread: Lars, Greg knows his name, Lars. [1295.01] Mikey Dread: He's Lars from Fusion. [1298.77] Mikey Dread: He's an absolute genius to teach you everything. [1301.33] AndyRC: Amazing. [1302.69] AndyRC: Yeah, it looks so time-consuming. [1305.97] AndyRC: I've got it, because it's free, isn't it, if you're a student. [1309.41] AndyRC: And I open it up and I have a lump in my throat, [1313.01] AndyRC: and then I have to close it. [1314.77] Frank: Andy, I think maybe we'll have to maybe put together [1318.29] Frank: some tutorial videos, then. [1321.41] Mikey Dread: I seriously think that once you do one design, [1325.73] Mikey Dread: one drawing, you kind of get the basics of it, [1328.05] Mikey Dread: and you learn from there so much easier. [1331.25] Mikey Dread: So just doing one evening, doing one of his designs, [1335.33] AndyRC: and that gives you the basics. [1337.25] AndyRC: I'll have a go of it, because yeah, [1339.41] AndyRC: I really enjoyed the Tinkercad thing. [1342.21] AndyRC: Those six hours went by really quickly, [1345.57] AndyRC: but it's quite intense trying to get... [1349.81] AndyRC: For me, it was for getting the sizing right. [1354.05] AndyRC: If you want a hole in a particular place, [1357.01] AndyRC: you've got to get the measurements right [1358.85] AndyRC: and everything like that. [1360.93] AndyRC: Yeah, but I did it. [1362.45] AndyRC: I made a little tiny cube with some holes in it. [1365.57] AndyRC: Well done. [1368.85] Tony: They're still guessing in the chat, Greg. [1370.69] Tony: Have you seen anything? [1371.65] Greg: Yeah, I've been watching avidly [1374.29] Greg: while you guys have been chatting with Mike. [1377.41] Greg: We've got two guesses which are very close. [1384.69] Frank: So Greg, besides the frame, [1389.89] Frank: how's things been going at Menace? [1391.81] Frank: What have you been working on? [1392.93] Frank: Have you been housed like the Pico patches [1395.97] Frank: and all the other things that you've been doing? [1398.61] Greg: Yeah, cool. [1400.61] Greg: So I don't know if you guys are aware, [1403.81] Greg: but there's some digital FPV goggles on the market. [1408.13] Greg: Never heard of them. [1410.77] Greg: By a company called DJI. [1414.29] Greg: They seem really good. [1415.33] Greg: So what we've been doing, [1417.57] Greg: we've been working with one of our other [1418.93] Greg: Menace pilots in Italy [1420.53] Greg: and been working through antennas [1424.37] Greg: for the digital system. [1426.05] Greg: And I know Andy RC's been doing [1431.09] Greg: quite a lot of testing with it as well. [1432.93] Greg: I've seen some stuff on his channel the other day. [1435.33] Greg: But yeah, we've got an antenna pack. [1439.97] Greg: We've just signed it off for production [1441.81] Greg: and it should be coming in about two weeks [1444.69] Greg: once China kicked back in [1446.93] Greg: and as long as there's no virus stuff going on, [1450.21] Greg: we should be getting stuff in [1453.49] Greg: with these DJI HD antenna packs. [1457.09] Curry: So Greg, sorry to interrupt. [1459.81] Curry: Did you analyze the very basic antennas [1463.65] Curry: they've got on there to see exactly what they did [1465.65] Curry: and sort of how is your stuff going to enhance that [1469.33] Curry: in terms of it's going to go twice as long or whatever? [1473.01] Greg: So what we were doing was looking at [1477.01] Greg: improving the FPV experience. [1478.69] Greg: So it wasn't necessarily about increasing range as such [1485.17] Greg: because David David, who we work with in Italy, [1489.81] Greg: he's been doing a lot of flying in bandos, [1494.21] Greg: indoor spaces and things like that [1495.73] Greg: with lots of reflections and so on. [1497.97] Greg: And what we were discovering was that [1503.25] Greg: the standard antennas do hold up [1506.61] Greg: in a lot of situations [1509.01] Greg: and they perform extremely well. [1513.57] Greg: But what we also found, [1517.49] Greg: it was more of a process of trial and error [1522.37] Greg: rather than actually taking one of their antennas, [1525.89] Greg: taking it apart and trying to figure it all out. [1528.45] Greg: It was more or less of, [1530.53] Greg: let's see what we've got in the range of our antennas. [1532.93] Greg: Let's see what we can use with those goggles [1534.77] Greg: and let's see if it improves the experience or not. [1538.13] Greg: So tried all these different antennas on the goggles itself [1542.93] Greg: and it ended up that we only needed to change [1546.77] Greg: the bottom two antennas to patch antennas. [1550.61] Greg: And what that gave was a much clearer image [1557.25] Greg: in a bando situations. [1559.97] Greg: So for example, well, you can go and see David's video. [1564.61] Greg: It's up on YouTube and he is David Angeletti, [1571.17] Greg: if anyone wants to look for it. [1573.01] Greg: But he's got a video there [1574.45] Greg: and you'll see him flying with the different antennas [1577.17] Greg: in a bando and he flies [1580.93] Greg: and you'll start to see the imagery pixelating and so on. [1584.77] Greg: But when he puts on the menace antennas, [1589.73] Greg: flying exactly the same location, [1591.97] Greg: this pixelation seems to go away. [1594.05] Greg: I mean, I must admit, [1595.01] Greg: we do need to do further testing and analysis [1598.69] Greg: on these DJI goggles [1599.73] Greg: because it could be that we may be able to get more [1603.01] Greg: from the DJI system. [1605.41] Greg: But what we've found so far, [1607.25] Greg: but by just adding these two antennas, [1609.09] Greg: you end up with a very capable system, [1611.17] Greg: especially in indoor spaces or bandos. [1615.09] AndyRC: Yeah, the problem with the DJI thing is as well, [1618.21] AndyRC: after I've been doing some testing as well, [1621.33] AndyRC: is that you can go to one location, [1624.85] AndyRC: use a particular antenna set up and get great results. [1630.21] AndyRC: Take that same antenna set up to somewhere else [1633.17] AndyRC: and get completely different results, [1637.09] AndyRC: terrible results even. [1638.93] AndyRC: And I think it's just due to the complexities, [1643.25] AndyRC: all of the different methods that DJI have employed [1647.33] AndyRC: when it comes to rejecting interference [1651.57] AndyRC: and stuff like that. [1653.17] AndyRC: The digital world is so much more intense than analog [1657.97] AndyRC: when it comes to trying to eradicate reflections [1662.69] AndyRC: because it just works differently than analog. [1667.97] Greg: Yeah, I would certainly think the basis of the transmission, [1673.57] Greg: you would have a carrier wave [1675.97] Greg: and then you'd have a modulation wave to that carrier wave, [1678.45] Greg: and the modulation wave would be the digital signal. [1682.37] Greg: That is essentially the same for analog and digital, [1685.33] Greg: but then what DJI are doing inside their goggles, [1689.73] Greg: that's the bit that no one really knows. [1692.69] Greg: And that is the bit where you could be experiencing [1697.49] Greg: a different experience in the same or different location [1702.93] Greg: with the same antennas and so on and so forth. [1705.57] AndyRC: Yeah, now while they're using this cyclic delay diversity, [1711.57] AndyRC: that's why you've got the two antennas, [1714.37] AndyRC: I found this out. [1715.25] AndyRC: So it sends and receives the signal twice [1719.41] AndyRC: in case one receives an error, it picks up on the other. [1723.73] AndyRC: And so depending on the location and certain reflections [1729.09] AndyRC: and stuff like that, you seem to get different results. [1735.01] AndyRC: But yeah, I think you're on the right path [1739.25] AndyRC: because when I did a video on what antennas [1743.17] AndyRC: that you should use with the goggles [1745.81] AndyRC: and people chose convenience over [1752.93] AndyRC: how much range that you got, if you got a better signal, [1757.89] AndyRC: people chose the convenience over, [1760.69] AndyRC: yeah, I just won't fly that far. [1764.21] AndyRC: I prefer that I could just sling it in a bag [1767.65] AndyRC: and it doesn't take up much space kind of thing. [1771.73] AndyRC: So yeah, I got a lot of that in the comments. [1774.85] Greg: Yeah, absolutely. [1775.89] Greg: I mean, it's all about the overall FPV experience. [1779.01] Greg: And I think with the DJI goggles, [1780.45] Greg: they can do quite a range already at the box. [1784.69] Greg: So on 25, obviously, that's a different game altogether. [1791.01] Greg: But in places like America now, [1794.29] Greg: when you go up to the higher power, [1795.73] Greg: then they're busting quite a bit of range already. [1800.45] Frank: This episode was recorded in front of a live online audience, [1803.65] Frank: downloaded and edited to make sense when it played audio only, [1807.25] Frank: censored to please the iTunes people, [1809.09] Frank: hosted on the internet, [1810.13] Frank: forwarded through to your podcast provider, [1811.97] Frank: downloaded, playing on your device, [1813.81] Frank: and is now playing in your ears. [1815.65] Frank: All thanks to our Patreons. [1817.73] Frank: Consider joining them and you'll also get other online benefits. [1821.17] Frank: Find out more at patreon.com forward slash let's drone out. [1826.05] Curry: I suppose a bit useful to know what DJI do [1829.09] Curry: because I guess because it's a digital signal, [1831.89] Curry: a lot of their stuff inside is all about [1834.21] Curry: how they're processing that signal, [1835.81] Curry: how they're coming in with their various diversity [1838.69] Curry: sort of packets and trying to rearrange stuff. [1841.01] Curry: And I guess it might be possible to build an antenna [1844.85] Curry: to sort of suit what it's doing, [1847.49] Curry: or they could potentially change the way their software works [1851.33] Curry: to work with different antennas in a different way. [1854.21] Curry: But yes, they're not fun of sharing that information, are they? [1857.97] AndyRC: Well, it's not that they're not fun of sharing it. [1863.81] AndyRC: It's that because it's a product that transmits close to your head, [1870.77] AndyRC: it has to be certified by the FCC, [1874.61] AndyRC: and it also has to pass the CE, like particular CE laws. [1882.61] AndyRC: So when they've gone with RPSMA and left hand polarization, [1889.01] AndyRC: it was because the antenna had to be of a, [1894.61] AndyRC: if you look at the clause of a unique coupling. [1898.45] AndyRC: So yeah, that's why DJI, [1903.25] AndyRC: they don't want you to switch the antennas [1905.33] AndyRC: because you're not supposed to in America. [1910.13] AndyRC: You can in Europe, [1912.61] AndyRC: and of course people will switch the antennas, of course. [1915.49] Tony: I've seen everyone switch. [1917.01] AndyRC: Yeah, exactly. [1919.01] AndyRC: Well, yeah, but you're supposed to read the manual, [1922.69] AndyRC: which, you know, what blokes or anonymous do, [1925.01] AndyRC: but it does say in the manual. [1928.21] AndyRC: It does say in the manual not to switch them, but... [1931.65] Curry: Or your brain will melt. [1933.73] Curry: Yeah. [1935.33] Tony: Keep guessing, lads. [1936.69] Tony: Richard Boric's getting there with about a million guesses so far, [1941.73] Tony: and wins keep going. [1943.25] Tony: Have we got anyone really close? [1945.65] Tony: You know, little secret chat. [1948.21] AndyRC: You are right, though, Wayne. [1952.77] AndyRC: The transmission methods is only like half of it. [1956.53] AndyRC: What they're doing with the DF DSP, [1959.09] AndyRC: digital signal processing, each side, [1962.61] AndyRC: you know, it's something no one else has managed to do. [1965.89] AndyRC: So they're not going to give that away, are they? [1968.77] AndyRC: I don't think. [1970.21] Curry: Oh, no, no. [1971.01] Curry: But it just strikes me that they could potentially, [1975.33] Curry: they might do something different with different antennas [1979.49] Curry: because it's like, oh, we now don't have to prioritize [1983.97] Curry: something or other and trying to rearrange something [1986.85] Curry: and do funny pixelated things. [1988.69] Curry: We could use some different algorithm to do something else. [1991.89] Frank: Yeah. [1992.05] Curry: But they're pretty switched on at the same time. [1994.93] Curry: I expect the software to be developed over and over and over. [1998.29] Curry: And probably at some point, it will say, [1999.65] Curry: we've noticed you've changed your antennas. [2001.41] Curry: We're shutting down now or something like that. [2003.17] AndyRC: No, I don't think they'll be able to do that. [2004.85] AndyRC: Not. [2006.05] AndyRC: We're appointing you. [2007.17] AndyRC: They won't be able to do that. [2008.61] AndyRC: But what I'll say. [2010.61] Frank: Ben Spini says it's disclaimer time. [2013.97] Frank: We haven't had that. [2014.61] Frank: So we should probably have that. [2016.37] Curry: Everyone is very well behaved. [2018.53] Curry: I should say. [2019.97] Frank: As I'm talking about all FCC. [2023.01] Frank: Yeah. [2025.17] Frank: So, Kerry, are you ready? [2026.85] Curry: Yes. [2028.37] Curry: Any views expressed by any guests on this show are personal [2031.73] Curry: and may not reflect the views of the host [2033.57] Curry: or any participant of the show. [2036.85] Curry: Thank you. [2037.65] Curry: That covers our behind. [2041.01] Curry: Including mainly me today, who's coming up with wild theories [2043.97] Curry: about what DJI do in the software. [2046.45] Greg: Conspiracy theories. [2049.41] Curry: So talking of things you can and can't do, [2052.29] Curry: what, just out of interest, is the situation like in [2055.65] Curry: France as far as FPV and flying goes? [2058.93] Curry: And are they a bit more chilled about it? [2061.09] Curry: They're just going to say, don't worry, [2062.45] Curry: have a glass of wine and go do your flying. [2065.41] Greg: And in France, I'm not fully up to speed with all the sort [2072.45] Greg: of regulations or future regulations. [2075.81] Greg: But I would imagine it's going to be something similar [2080.21] Greg: to what we're seeing in the UK or similar to in the US [2083.49] Greg: and things like that. [2084.93] Greg: I mean, where I am at the moment, I'm not actually flying [2090.61] Greg: with groups of people. [2093.41] Greg: We're quite isolated. [2094.93] Greg: Flying on my own. [2096.21] Greg: So I'm hoping to get plugged into clubs and groups out here. [2101.33] Greg: And then I should be able to learn more about the scene [2105.65] Greg: and learn more about the legalization [2109.01] Greg: and things like that here. [2113.06] Greg: Cool. [2114.82] Tony: Are Menace working on an MCX antenna? [2120.18] Tony: MMCX. [2120.74] Tony: MMCX. [2122.74] Tony: What did I say? [2124.18] Tony: MCX. [2125.94] AndyRC: I love this Lexic. [2127.06] AndyRC: So it all looks like a rapper name, doesn't it? [2130.74] Greg: MCX. [2133.46] Greg: A rude rapper. [2135.54] Greg: Yes. [2136.66] Greg: Yeah, MMCX. [2139.38] Greg: UFL. [2140.34] Greg: Tiny antennas. [2142.02] Greg: Yep. [2142.34] Greg: I've got a design. [2144.42] Greg: I've been working on design for quite a while. [2146.34] Greg: And as probably I've said before on previous shows, [2149.38] Greg: I don't release anything until I'm totally happy with it. [2153.86] Greg: So I've got a design. [2157.46] Greg: I've been working on it for probably a year, [2161.54] Greg: maybe over a year. [2163.22] Greg: It's a very tiny antenna and it will be MMCX and UFL. [2170.1] Greg: I'm getting really hopeful that we should be able to do something [2173.3] Greg: and release this in about Q2 this year. [2176.26] Greg: Is this on the goggle side, quad side or both? [2180.02] Greg: This could be on both sides. [2181.54] Greg: It'll be an omnidirectional tiny antenna. [2184.66] AndyRC: Because if there's one thing I've learned about doing videos on antennas [2188.82] AndyRC: is that people want them as small as possible. [2192.66] AndyRC: So that's good news. [2194.58] Greg: Yep. [2195.06] Greg: Yep. [2195.7] Greg: We've got some interesting alternative solutions for these tiny antennas, [2203.3] Greg: but we will go over that when the time is right in the future. [2207.86] Tony: Where can we add you back then? [2210.18] Tony: Second quarter of... [2211.78] Greg: Yeah, Q2. [2213.54] Greg: If everything goes to plan, yeah, we'll come back Q2 [2216.58] Greg: and we'll talk tiny antennas. [2219.7] Greg: Is that when we can also expect the DJI solution? [2226.42] Greg: The first round of the DJI stuff is about two weeks into release. [2233.54] Greg: Oh, wow. [2234.5] Greg: Yeah, yeah, yeah. [2235.22] Greg: So we're looking at mid-February on that one, [2237.94] Greg: if all goes well with the production. [2240.9] Tony: Oh, nice. [2241.94] Tony: That's good. [2243.54] Tony: Nice. [2244.02] Tony: They're still guessing, Greg. [2245.94] Tony: Yeah, I know. [2246.66] Greg: I'm just trying to catch up in there to see if anyone's nailed it. [2249.7] Mikey Dread: I've been keeping my arm. [2252.42] Mikey Dread: Have you seen anyone? [2254.18] Mikey Dread: There's one very close. [2256.42] Tony: There is one very close, isn't there? [2259.14] Frank: Outside of the FPV scene, Greg, [2263.7] Frank: how's your waterworks going? [2267.06] Greg: How's my waterworks? [2268.18] Greg: That's the best thing I've ever done. [2269.14] Mikey Dread: That's a beautiful question. [2271.38] Greg: We'll talk to you all for you now. [2273.22] Greg: Yeah, that's fun. [2275.06] Greg: And it's a massive project because it's a water mill that I'm in [2280.98] Greg: and basically converting it to generate electricity. [2286.02] Greg: So, yeah, it is what it is. [2290.98] Greg: It takes time. [2292.66] Greg: It's a whole area that I've never really been involved in before. [2297.7] Greg: And, yeah, I'm learning every day on it. [2301.38] Greg: So, yeah, it's interesting and very excited to generate my own electricity. [2307.22] Greg: And hopefully, one day, you can switch the mains off. [2311.38] AndyRC: You're not the only person excited about it, though, [2314.98] AndyRC: because the videos blew up, right? [2317.62] AndyRC: I just watched them. [2318.42] AndyRC: I was like, this is amazing. [2320.58] Greg: Yeah, I can't remember. [2322.74] Greg: It's probably 18, 90,000 people that have watched some of the videos. [2327.94] Greg: When I started doing it, I just thought I wanted to do the videos [2330.58] Greg: just to document what I was doing for myself. [2332.5] Greg: And so, our family can see back in the UK. [2337.06] Greg: But, yeah, a lot of people got on board. [2340.02] Greg: And I think it's really touched into people wanting to be off-grid [2346.34] Greg: and generating their own energy and energy storage and all that good stuff. [2351.94] Greg: Yeah, definitely a niche, I think. [2355.86] Greg: What's the name of the channel you're putting those videos out on? [2359.14] Greg: It's named after where we're living. [2360.5] Greg: It's called Moulin-en-Pierre. [2364.26] Greg: So, that means that's French for stone mill. [2368.26] Greg: What's that? [2369.3] Frank: Yeah, those videos are fun. [2372.02] Tony: I like them as well. [2373.38] AndyRC: No, it's okay. [2375.38] Tony: Mute, Curry Kitten. [2376.66] Tony: Mute your daughter. [2380.1] Curry: Are you allowed to say a way to mute yourself? [2382.1] AndyRC: Okay, out of 10. [2384.02] AndyRC: Out of 10. [2385.06] Curry: Five. [2385.62] Curry: Go away. [2386.02] AndyRC: Five! [2389.78] Tony: It should have been a 10, but not. [2391.54] Curry: Oh, okay. [2392.26] Curry: Sophie's decided to come in and say, rate my outfit. [2395.86] Curry: I just need to wear an unschooled uniform tomorrow. [2399.78] Curry: Okay, I'm busy. [2401.38] Tony: Did she not know it's eight o'clock on a Thursday evening? [2406.26] Curry: Yes, but apparently I'm able to talk. [2409.14] Curry: A multi-tasking dad, I see. [2412.58] Curry: This is often true as you're driving along. [2414.34] Curry: She says, just watch this video quickly, [2416.34] Curry: and it holds a phone up to you, and you're like, do that, get out of the way. [2422.5] Tony: So, Mikey, how's it been on this side of the screen rather than in the chat? [2429.14] Mikey Dread: I miss my guys in the chat. [2430.58] Mikey Dread: I'm not going to lie. [2434.26] Mikey Dread: It's great, but yeah, I was just really nervous about it before coming on. [2437.78] Mikey Dread: I nearly had a panic attack, but yeah, apart from that, I'm fine. [2441.22] Tony: Well, you've done fine, mate. [2442.98] Tony: No need to worry. [2443.78] Tony: It's just channeling amongst friends. [2445.54] Tony: Yeah, it's only on the internet forever, [2449.06] Tony: and I've got drunk on here and picked my top off, so you'll be all right. [2456.02] Tony: Yeah, I have seen that. [2458.34] Tony: Yeah, let's not talk about that anymore. [2460.5] Frank: Have you been flying anywhere recently, Mikey? [2466.74] Frank: Have you been flying anywhere recently, interesting? [2470.66] Mikey Dread: Yeah, kind of. [2473.78] Mikey Dread: Yeah, I don't care. [2476.58] Mikey Dread: Yeah, some big towers. [2480.18] Mikey Dread: Was it me flying now? I'm not sure yet. [2482.1] Mikey Dread: You found some SD cards, right? [2484.34] Mikey Dread: Yeah, I found some SD cards. [2486.98] Mikey Dread: Hopefully not those towers that are in the background there. [2490.34] Mikey Dread: I went with a few friends that are in the chat, which is, you know, the bears in the chat. [2497.52] AndyRC: The towers that we all know and love, are we talking about? [2500.32] AndyRC: Yeah, Sandy, the ones that were there. [2505.52] AndyRC: The ones when me and Frank went to, we had to take his trousers and all of his clothes off [2512.4] AndyRC: when we got to the other side because his entire legs and feet got submerged in. [2518.16] Frank: Yeah, it turns out the bridge wasn't much of a bridge, [2520.88] Frank: more of a kind of dunking stool, but never mind. [2524.72] Mikey Dread: The difference was this time is they actually have water in the bottom of it. [2528.48] Mikey Dread: That added a bit more pressure to the... [2530.48] AndyRC: Oh, yeah. When we were there, Andy, there was water, wasn't there? [2536.56] AndyRC: Yeah, at the bottom as well, yeah. [2539.6] Frank: There was only one that was vaguely dry for some of it. [2542.56] Frank: We were kind of picking our way around. [2545.92] Curry: It'll only be interesting because should someone turn up, [2548.88] Curry: I'm not sure if they're going to move you on for flying or the fact that [2552.56] Curry: Frank's got his clothes off and it looks like you might be dogging. [2555.2] Curry: Well, I just don't know where that's going. [2557.52] Frank: Luckily, I had to come prepared and had a pair of shorts with me, [2561.6] Frank: so I was wearing them instead while I'm with Charles and Mike. [2564.64] Tony: We're saying to have lost Greg because he thinks my internet has just gone down, I think. [2568.96] Tony: I was going to say, yeah. [2572.8] Curry: Hopefully, we can get him back in a minute. [2574.32] Curry: The whole internet has failed. [2575.68] AndyRC: His water wealth broke, isn't it? [2578.08] AndyRC: He's not in the green room, is he? [2581.52] AndyRC: He is not in the green room. [2585.6] Curry: Shall we talk about Bruce's annoying videos or are we not giving him ads on? [2589.68] Tony: No, maybe next week. [2591.84] Tony: We're trying to stay positive this week, please. [2594.56] Curry: All right then. [2595.28] Curry: So who has been out and having fun flying this week? [2598.72] Curry: Because I haven't managed it because I'm being weather wimpy. [2603.36] Mikey Dread: Yeah. [2605.12] Curry: You must go out because you're two minutes away from your dog poo bin. [2608.8] AndyRC: I haven't been out. [2609.68] AndyRC: I've been flying indoors. [2612.32] AndyRC: I'm back, sorry. [2613.44] Tony: Hey, Greg. [2614.4] Tony: We thought your boat was powered run out, so the internet went down. [2618.16] AndyRC: Yeah, the screen stopped for a second. [2623.04] AndyRC: No, it was internet. [2625.6] AndyRC: What's that? [2626.16] AndyRC: What was that sticker? [2627.12] AndyRC: Was that a sticker? [2627.84] AndyRC: I've got some of the boys in the chat. [2630.32] AndyRC: Let's have a look. [2631.28] AndyRC: Shows again. [2632.0] AndyRC: I missed it. [2632.56] AndyRC: I just caught a glimpse of it. [2636.08] Mikey Dread: Just a little crew that I fly with. [2638.48] Mikey Dread: Cool. [2640.48] Mikey Dread: That's a little show. [2642.48] Mikey Dread: Bless. [2643.52] Tony: So Greg, are you still going to do analog and attend a design and keep selling them and stuff? [2653.2] Greg: Analog's dead, mate. [2654.08] Greg: Digital's the way forward. [2657.04] Greg: But seriously, digital is coming forward and a lot of guys are moving over to digital. [2665.92] Greg: If you want to come into the hobby and you want to come in entry level and you're on a budget, [2674.72] Greg: you're not going to be buying a DJI set of goggles. [2677.68] Greg: So guys coming into the hobby are still going to come in on analog. [2682.4] Greg: So Menace has always been about affordable products for the hobbyists. [2689.2] Greg: So I think we're still good at supporting new people into the hobby. [2695.04] Greg: Existing people in the hobby who've not moved over to digital. [2699.12] Greg: Plus, I think some people have tried the digital system and didn't like it, [2704.24] Greg: and they've gone back to analog. [2706.48] Greg: So I think both of them are here to stay side by side for the near future. [2715.6] Greg: What the long-term future holds, it's hard to say. [2720.4] Tony: Indeed. [2721.76] Tony: And I keep looking at the digital stuff and thinking, [2725.68] Tony: should I or should I not? [2729.12] Tony: I don't know what to do. [2730.4] AndyRC: You know what, I think I hope happens when it comes to this. [2736.4] AndyRC: As somebody who has had a lot of the DJI camera drones and then they bring out the next one [2743.44] AndyRC: and the one that I currently own halves in price when it comes to selling. [2750.88] AndyRC: I think when they bring out, hopefully if they bring out a second version, [2756.48] AndyRC: then the first version is good enough that the price, [2761.84] AndyRC: secondhand price of those will come down to an affordable price. [2765.84] AndyRC: Just like how the HDOs have now dropped in price. [2770.96] AndyRC: Now the HDO2s have come out. [2772.88] AndyRC: So I think I would see it going off in that direction, I think. [2778.72] AndyRC: But for the foreseeable future, I think as well, [2782.72] AndyRC: there will always be a place for analog regardless. [2787.44] Tony: Yeah, I agree. [2788.56] Tony: I mean, I don't want to change. [2790.16] Curry: And you can't afford to buy the new DJI Goggles. [2792.72] Tony: Yeah, I don't even want to look in them. [2795.44] Tony: I've looked in them. [2798.8] Tony: They're too nice. [2800.96] AndyRC: It looks too good. [2802.64] AndyRC: Tell me you looked through them and you felt sick. [2804.64] AndyRC: I did actually feel sick because the screen was so big. [2808.4] AndyRC: I think it was just because you were like, this is just so good. [2814.4] Tony: The screen in the goggles is massive. [2816.24] Tony: Plus, it was flicking a bit. [2820.0] Tony: I'll get sick if I go into a hospital just because the lights are flickering. [2824.32] AndyRC: Those lights flickering did make a difference for sure. [2828.64] Tony: I'd like to see it outside. [2830.56] Tony: I'm sure we're all going to meet soon and I'll have a go, Andy, anyway. [2834.4] AndyRC: Yeah, I mean, they're down to tiny whoop size now with the new Cut X Vista. [2842.16] Tony: Yeah, I saw your video this morning. [2843.92] AndyRC: Oh, man, I couldn't cut a coffee. [2846.56] AndyRC: I was ready to rubbish it. [2848.4] AndyRC: And I think in some areas, it's better than the first one. [2856.64] AndyRC: Yeah, so it's going in that direction. [2860.48] AndyRC: But I like to balance between the two because obviously, [2866.8] AndyRC: there are people that will always stick to analog. [2870.24] AndyRC: There'll be people that want to try the new stuff. [2874.08] AndyRC: For me, I'm like, if it's FPV, I'm game. [2877.76] AndyRC: I wanted the bike for us, but it was advised against it for now. [2885.44] AndyRC: Should I say, until the final version. [2889.04] AndyRC: But yeah, I'm well up for trying that because there we go. [2893.84] AndyRC: We've got Jax here in spirit. [2897.28] Tony: He's just in the chat as well. [2899.92] Tony: He hasn't answered my question yet. [2902.32] Mikey Dread: Oh, oh, have we got a new place somewhere? [2906.56] Mikey Dread: That's the one. [2907.68] Mikey Dread: It's got to be on it. [2908.56] Mikey Dread: Nobody's going to beat that. [2910.56] Mikey Dread: Wow. [2911.04] Tony: Yeah, that is close. [2912.88] AndyRC: That is so close. [2914.08] AndyRC: Where I'm trying to look. [2915.92] Curry: Right, but it's as close as the other one. [2919.76] Curry: It just depends on which direction you go from, I suppose. [2922.64] Greg: Well, that's a down to break. [2925.04] Greg: Got it, got it. [2926.32] Greg: It's looking like two packs at the moment that we're going to have to send out. [2933.52] Curry: Oh, well. [2934.4] Curry: Should you say, here's the spirit of NJ. [2936.32] Curry: I built up his frame this week. [2938.32] Curry: I've yet to set it up. [2939.92] Mikey Dread: I need to get that frame as well. [2945.52] Curry: I need to sort that out and do the setup for it. [2950.08] Greg: Is that the guitar? [2951.04] Greg: Is it guitar pick? [2951.92] Greg: That's the guitar pick, yeah. [2955.52] AndyRC: Really neat, that. [2956.72] AndyRC: It does. [2959.36] AndyRC: NJ's in Madrid tonight, working. [2963.12] AndyRC: Oh, poor thing. [2964.48] Curry: Oh, yeah, NJ working. [2966.48] Tony: Yeah, what was he doing standing on stage strumming some string? [2970.88] Curry: Strumming a guitar, getting screamed at, and a hard old life. [2977.98] Tony: My dogs just nicked one of my socks. [2982.22] Curry: I should apologise to Bloods, who's saying it's my frame as well. [2984.78] Curry: It is called the guitar pick. [2986.06] Curry: Yeah, I did say. [2987.74] Curry: But it's a Hayley RC product, jointly developed by Bloods. [2991.42] Curry: And these are Bloods holes, these are NJ's holes. [2994.38] Curry: There's two holes, depending on what size the prop you like. [2998.78] Mikey Dread: Yeah, you've got to love Chris and MJ, they're top guys. [3001.74] Tony: Yeah, they're both good lads. [3006.29] Tony: No one bad in this, obviously. [3008.77] Tony: I mean, no, I've never met anyone horrible. [3014.46] Curry: I know, some dodgy videos floating around on YouTube I could comment on, but we're not allowed to. [3018.54] Tony: No, next week you can comment on them. [3022.46] Curry: Been writing paragraphs of comments in response, but okay. [3025.5] AndyRC: Okay. [3026.14] AndyRC: Tend not to meet people in real life who are negative towards you in the hobby, [3033.26] AndyRC: but online it's like road rage, isn't it? [3037.34] Frank: On a completely, completely separate note, because I believe tonight is the last night [3044.54] Frank: where you can pay you £9 through either BMFA or FPV UK, rather than doing it directly through the CAA. [3056.22] Frank: Although we're still exempt until whatever it is of February, because it's going to take some time [3062.38] Frank: for that information to go from the associations to the CAA, and then for them to just add that [3067.74] Frank: into their database from the Excel spreadsheet, and then generate the numbers and then send them [3074.06] Frank: back to people so that you can actually have numbers that you put on your craft before you fly. [3082.3] Frank: There's still a bit of leeway, but if you wanted to pay your £9 through an association rather [3087.98] Frank: than directly to the CAA, then you better get on it pretty quick. I just haven't actually done that, [3094.86] Frank: because I'm not going to fly over 250 grams outside until the weather improves significantly, [3103.34] Frank: and I'm not going to... [3105.18] Curry: God, we need some of that. [3106.86] Curry: So, quick story, Paul, who here has done that so far? I think, Tony, you have, haven't you? [3112.38] AndyRC: Yep. Yeah, I got my number. [3117.1] AndyRC: I got a really funny email off the BMFA. [3123.74] AndyRC: It said, we're currently working on getting your offer, because if you're through the BMFA, [3130.78] AndyRC: you still haven't got your operator ID. Well, I haven't, because they sent me an email, [3136.38] AndyRC: and they said, we think your date of birth is wrong, and we need it correct before... [3142.62] AndyRC: I got that as well. [3145.58] AndyRC: I went on the portal, and it said, my birthday was... [3150.06] AndyRC: 19-0-1. [3151.98] AndyRC: Yeah, it was just... [3156.94] AndyRC: Yeah, no, so yeah, I had to change that. [3160.78] Tony: Yeah, one was the same. [3164.62] AndyRC: Well, apparently, I'm a traitor, am I, Wayne? Come on, Wayne. No, we won't go there. [3171.5] Curry: You're complicit and an accessory to fraud. [3175.58] AndyRC: What? [3177.34] Tony: I haven't watched the video, so... [3180.06] Tony: And we can talk about its next week. [3182.94] Tony: Okay. [3184.54] Tony: Mikey, are you and Greg going to do any more frame partnerships, or do any, like, [3190.14] Tony: because you said to me that you can put longer arms on here and turn it into a six-inch... [3196.3] Mikey Dread: No, you can fit a physics seven-inch arms on there and fly it as a six-inch quad. [3203.18] Mikey Dread: I'm 100% sure they fit. [3206.7] Mikey Dread: Greg, are we in disagreement on that, Greg? Okay, I'm pretty sure. [3213.98] Greg: I thought it was changed because of the... [3215.9] Mikey Dread: I did change the whole positions. [3218.22] Greg: The whole positions changed because they're all in line, whereas before, [3221.98] Greg: we had them slightly askew for the inner ones. [3227.5] Greg: But we can double-check. If that's the case, we'll put it up on the website. [3231.58] Greg: But yeah, I'm pretty sure at the moment, the dreadnought comes as is, [3237.34] Greg: and it doesn't interchange with the physics. [3240.62] Greg: But to answer your question, as we go forward, if guys think, [3246.06] Greg: right, yeah, I want to do a seven-inch, eight-inch, nine-inch, whatever, [3249.02] Greg: we can look at doing arms for those because that's effectively what we've done with the physics. [3256.86] Greg: We put it out there as a five-inch, and then guys wanted a six-inch, a seven-inch. [3260.94] Greg: They wanted a stretch X and things like that. [3263.74] Greg: So we were just listening to the customers and listening to the guys in the hobby [3269.34] Greg: and adjusting the frame accordingly to what people wanted to do with it. [3274.78] AndyRC: What about going for a sub-250 freestyle frame for Andy, [3279.34] AndyRC: who hasn't done any of the registration yet? [3282.54] AndyRC: Has that come into your mind about doing something like that? [3288.78] Greg: Sub-250. [3291.98] Greg: Ages ago, and I mean, yeah, probably two or three years ago, [3295.58] Greg: we were building these little three-inch drones that were already sub-250. [3301.34] Greg: So I've got designs for those, so we may revisit it. [3305.34] Tony: There you go. [3307.34] Tony: Okay, up there, I've got one which I've done about two years ago, which is sub-250. [3313.18] Tony: Five-inch as well. [3316.27] Tony: Five-inch, interesting. [3317.39] Tony: Yeah. [3319.87] Tony: Yes, it's very, very light. [3322.59] AndyRC: With its fuel tank. [3324.91] Tony: Yes, with fuel. [3326.51] Tony: I think it's 190 grams. [3329.23] Tony: Wow, impressive. [3330.27] Mikey Dread: So the physics arms fit. [3332.91] Mikey Dread: You just done it. [3335.39] Mikey Dread: There you go, that answers the question. [3336.83] Mikey Dread: So the physics arms go on and make a six-inch physics. [3341.95] Mikey Dread: Six-inch Drednall. [3343.47] Tony: There you go. [3344.99] Tony: That's pretty cool. [3347.15] Tony: That is really good. [3348.11] Tony: Right, we're coming near to the end of the show. [3350.03] Tony: We've got four minutes left. [3351.79] Mikey Dread: Has anybody got the exact bit? [3354.91] Mikey Dread: I've got someone who's really close to the weight. [3358.99] Tony: What about you, Greg? [3360.11] Greg: I've got two names. [3364.43] Greg: One's 0.1 over and one's 0.1 below. [3370.03] AndyRC: Everybody's now, it's just going to post what? [3374.83] Curry: The question is, are you bastard? [3377.47] Greg: You can't put any more in the chat. [3380.19] Greg: You only get one girl, right? [3383.87] Greg: Shall we pick? [3385.87] Tony: You pick, Greg. [3386.59] Tony: You're the boss, Menace. [3388.43] Tony: You're the one giving nice enough to give something away. [3391.63] Tony: Go on, Mikey. [3392.27] Tony: Who have you got there? [3393.55] Greg: I've got Dean Chapman, 190.8. [3398.19] Greg: Cool, and I had criminal FPV at 120 grams. [3402.91] Mikey Dread: That's the other one I had. [3404.43] Greg: Yeah, because the weight was 119.9. [3407.79] Greg: I'll tell you what we do. [3408.67] Greg: We give out two packs. [3410.59] Greg: If both those guys get in touch, get the addresses, [3412.75] Greg: we'll send them a package. [3413.87] Greg: How's that say? [3414.43] Mikey Dread: I know both these guys anyway. [3416.19] Mikey Dread: Oh, really? [3418.43] Tony: So they've secretly invited him while he's flying, haven't they? [3422.67] Tony: Or are you chatting about it, Mikey? [3424.75] Tony: You've been out flying and gone, yeah, this is that. [3428.27] Tony: They've took your... [3430.75] Mikey Dread: No, I've never told them this fight. [3434.11] AndyRC: To be fair, Mike is in the chat every week. [3436.35] AndyRC: He knows everybody. [3438.75] AndyRC: Whoever would have known it, he would have known. [3442.35] Frank: I think Richard Warwick might be cheating a bit there by posting that now. [3446.03] Frank: Oh, he's got some lag, hasn't he? [3449.07] Curry: Yeah. [3449.55] Curry: He told that an hour ago. [3450.91] Curry: It's just come through now. [3453.31] Tony: So can the winners contact us at where? [3458.03] Tony: Can they contact us, Frank? [3459.39] Tony: They can contact me if they want. [3462.83] Tony: If you want to put your email out into webs, go for it. [3466.51] Mikey Dread: I can get over to both of those guys if you want and sort out, so yes, no problem. [3471.07] Tony: Well, contact Mikey, if you know Mikey. [3473.15] Tony: Well done for playing, everyone. [3475.39] Mikey Dread: Brian's now trying it as well. [3479.47] Mikey Dread: Sorry, just got it as well. [3484.11] Mikey Dread: I'm going to have to send him out. [3488.22] Tony: Excellent. [3490.54] Tony: Well, thank you very much for coming on, Greg. [3492.7] Tony: Thanks, Mikey, for... [3494.54] Mikey Dread: Thanks for having me. [3495.26] Mikey Dread: It's been real fun. [3497.02] Tony: Yeah, thank you very much for having us on the show. [3499.82] Tony: Yeah, you've been stressing a bit, Mikey, but you've done well. [3502.78] Tony: Yeah, it's not my bag, but I have actually enjoyed it, to be fair. [3505.34] AndyRC: Yeah, it gets addictive as well, so be careful, because that's the image. [3510.06] Tony: If I'm ever real, can you stand in for me, please? [3512.3] Mikey Dread: Yeah, I would do this again, no problem. [3514.06] Mikey Dread: Yeah, bless you. [3516.38] Frank: So thank you very much, guys, for joining us this week. [3521.1] Frank: And thank you, everyone, in the chat. [3522.78] Frank: Thank you to all our patrons as well. [3524.94] Frank: This week, we have had joining us Tony, we had Mikey, we have had Greg, [3533.5] Frank: we have had Andy, and we've had Kerry, and we've been joined by me, Frank. [3542.7] Frank: That one's easy for me. [3545.9] Frank: That was fun. [3546.62] Frank: And good night. [3548.22] AndyRC: Cheers, guys. [3550.86] Greg: Thank you. [3551.66] UNKNOWN: Telemetry loss.
