[0.0] Jack: Hello and welcome to Let's Drone Out. The best, well the only UK FPV podcast
[6.8] Jack: sponsored by the lovely people from our Patreon. Patreon.com forward slash Let's Drone Out.
[12.88] Jack: In particular we'd like to thank these guys. Art Faulkner. Mikey Dredd. Wacky Wes. David Powell.
[24.24] Jack: Thank you guys. You're the best. We can edit our podcast. Thank you.
[59.1] Frank: Good evening and welcome to yes another episode of Let's Drone Out. This is episode 232 where
[65.9] Frank: we're having a mega whoop special. So with us this week we have Tony. Bonjour. We have Gav.
[74.14] Frank: Evening. We have Curry. Hello.
[77.98] Frank: N.J. Hey everyone. Andy. How are you? Nij. Hi. And I am Frank. So good evening everybody.
[88.94] Frank: And I think first of all Tony why don't you introduce Gav and what's dragged him along
[96.38] Tony: this week to talk to us. This is Gav. He's our mini tiny whoop track specialist. He's been a
[106.3] Tony: couple of our MI5 events. MI5 and MI6 events. Only Gav. That special one where we just flew
[119.34] Curry: around for the spies. Yeah. MI5 event. But you know I love saying MI5 and not what it's supposed
[127.5] Tony: to be. He's our track. Tell him about our track. Your track you do. Well I've been doing it since
[135.42] Gav Ferry: Brighton hasn't it. Basically the second or third MI5 event. But basically I've been
[145.58] Gav Ferry: finding along with a couple of other guys who've been designing this kind of crazy thing that
[151.26] Gav Ferry: we've done a whole night course you know you're standard with a load of LEDs.
[155.18] Gav Ferry: But then we've kind of made it into Mario Kart. We've got weapons and there's lights there's
[161.5] Gav Ferry: sounds there's there you've got things like fans come on fans automated nerf darts.
[171.26] Gav Ferry: Lightning attack is just simple that the entire course which the course can cover a quarter of
[178.54] Gav Ferry: a mile and as many LEDs as you can shove in within a quarter of a mile. And so lightning attack will
[184.46] Gav Ferry: set every LED off at 100 percent ten times a second for a couple of seconds. And if you fly in
[190.78] Gav Ferry: you're crashing basically at that point. Are you going to be an app? You might you design an app
[197.58] Gav Ferry: as well right? Yeah it's got an app on your phone it's all voice controlled. Basically you've got
[203.9] Gav Ferry: things like tournament mode. I've just designed a new bit for it which is an automated streaming
[210.54] Gav Ferry: system. Basically you enter in like eight people's names and then on the app you just say start
[218.06] Gav Ferry: tournament. And for 20 minutes basically it will take over completely. Up on OBS you'll get a
[225.98] Gav Ferry: it will change screen it will say next race is pilot and it'll say their name pilot versus pilot.
[233.18] Gav Ferry: And then after a second it'll give you the opportunity to press start race or just say
[237.98] Gav Ferry: start race. And at that point switches cameras goes on to the camera view of the two drones.
[244.06] Gav Ferry: Again pilot names in the corners and there's a little lap counter. So on screen lap counter
[250.06] Gav Ferry: and basically at that point you're doing your race. I've just done it two people racing at the moment
[254.78] Gav Ferry: because it's better for showing on camera. But the system you can easily bump up to like four or
[261.02] Gav Ferry: more I guess. And yeah basically it'll run a full tournament. It'll count the number of
[270.22] Gav Ferry: laps you're doing. As stuff happens you can hit weapons and pickups and you can go for
[276.06] Gav Ferry: weapons gates and you can select weapons and things like that. And then it's a standard race
[281.5] Gav Ferry: along with all the weapons. Full sound systems. You've got like stereo sound with sound effects
[288.78] Gav Ferry: on top of that. Stuff like if you've got the thunder if you have lightning you have big
[293.9] Gav Ferry: thunderclap. And it will do the race as a sort of normal race with weapons. At the end of the race
[300.7] Gav Ferry: so whoever wins it will automatically enter them into the next heat. And basically it will go
[306.62] Gav Ferry: through heats one two three and four. That's your eight players going two versus two. And then it
[312.86] Gav Ferry: will go on to the next round of heats. It will bring up automatically this player versus this
[319.18] Gav Ferry: player. Two more heats and that goes for the winners. And then you have a final heat which
[324.06] Gav Ferry: is the winners of the winners. And breathe. And breathe.
[330.22] Frank: Keynide's viewers may recognize Gav from a few weeks ago when we were at the MK Maker Space.
[337.74] Frank: Gav brought along a lot of gear then and I think helped out in launching quads of Tony's face.
[345.1] Gav Ferry: Yeah I did get a couple of good ones. Might have gone a little bit fast. What's your
[350.78] Tony: YouTube name? Have you put any of the stuff off? I've just actually put a video live tonight. So
[356.3] Gav Ferry: basically the reason I've come on here for anyone that like people might have like had to go on the
[361.02] Gav Ferry: course and not pop them or Western Park. But basically I've kind of kept working on it and
[367.74] Gav Ferry: we've got all the kit now so that it sets up really quickly. You can do a full course set up
[374.86] Gav Ferry: in sort of 45 minutes which still sounds a lot for a course but we're talking 20,000 LEDs and
[383.26] Gav Ferry: all the weapons and the media system and all of that. And basically we're going to try and do a
[389.34] Gav Ferry: race sometime in the next couple of weeks. Possibly not this Saturday but next Saturday.
[395.9] Gav Ferry: And we're going to need some pilots. So if anyone wants to be a part of it,
[403.34] Gav Ferry: if you have a look on the channel there's I think the links are in the description of the video of
[407.5] Gav Ferry: this video. Basically you can see the lighting test we did there. And what's your channel called?
[413.74] Tony: Binary throttle. Binary throttle. Search that on YouTube. Frank can you? It is in the description.
[419.9] Tony: It's in the description. Cool. So we've linked in there. Excellent. We've flown it before and I've
[427.02] Tony: enjoyed pressing the lightning button while people are flying. Especially when it's plugged into
[432.7] Frank: Fraser Monroe's enormous speakers. When he had it running for a preamp when he wasn't meant to
[438.86] Gav Ferry: and we set the lightning off and pretty much make everyone's ears bleed. I really enjoyed that.
[446.46] Frank: Yeah that was very entertaining. I think I was the other side of Pop'em.
[452.86] Gav Ferry: I thought something had blown up but there we go.
[457.18] Gav Ferry: So on top of that we've now got some music as well so it's going to be just far worse.
[462.62] Tony: Yeah. So we're running a test two weeks Saturday. Well it's not a test. We're ready to do a
[468.46] Gav Ferry: tournament so we're just going to do it. It's not inviting like everyone. We're just going to get
[472.86] Gav Ferry: a bunch of people that want to join in. We'll get the names down and you know just invite a few
[479.1] Gav Ferry: people along to give it a go. You'll be lugging some kit but you know. Yeah that's that.
[488.86] Gav Ferry: Possibly live stream it. We're definitely going to record it. Basically we'll see how it goes
[494.7] Gav Ferry: and if we can we will and if not it will be recorded. It'll be on your channel will it?
[500.7] Gav Ferry: Yeah I'll probably post it up in LDO as well and yeah. Previously I got the impression that
[509.58] Curry: your courses were never quite finished and you constantly worked on them but they are.
[514.14] Curry: It's like you go there you can set it up 45 minutes you can race. Is that the deal now?
[519.1] Gav Ferry: It's all on PCBs. I've got the kit made in China. It's all on PCBs. You literally
[525.9] Gav Ferry: plug a receiver into the gate and you shove it out.
[529.66] Gav Ferry: The gates themselves you can set up a basic course within 10-15 minutes
[535.1] Gav Ferry: and if you then want all the extra stuff it'll take a bit longer.
[539.18] Nigel: Western Park. I think you were setting Western Park up for like 12 hours and
[545.58] Nigel: it was awesome though. I think the Nerf guns were the most fun part of that. I mean everybody
[551.9] Nigel: enjoyed trying to shoot them walks down but yeah it was awesome. I'm looking forward to
[556.62] Gav Ferry: seeing how it's progressed since Western Park. It's come on a lot. While it might look similar
[563.58] Gav Ferry: it's all the back end with all the streaming system all of that so we're still looking
[568.7] Gav Ferry: amazing. I've probably got twice as many LEDs set up as well so you know how many we had then
[576.78] Gav Ferry: and I've got probably twice as many ready to go as well now so yeah should be cool.
[583.82] Frank: I was going to say is to give people an idea now that it's down to 45 minutes that may still
[589.5] Frank: sound like a long time but I think that's down from about 45 hours. That's the kind of
[598.22] Frank: engineering effort that has gone into making this a pop-up thing.
[602.62] Nigel: Yeah. I remember rightly at Western you were doing it in two shifts while one slept in the
[607.34] Nigel: van and the other went swapping around and carrying on. We built the entire city for Western
[615.18] Gav Ferry: because we didn't pop them as the trial and pop them we just had literally the bare bones of the
[619.9] Gav Ferry: system. The LEDs were literally just LEDs on some metal and just literally bolted together
[625.9] Gav Ferry: and that was the first trial of it and then we spoke to you about a week later and you're
[631.02] Gav Ferry: like yeah can you come and pop them? I was like bugger their tents are a lot bigger
[636.14] Gav Ferry: so we need kit so we built an entire city out of you know that was polished what was it plastic
[642.62] Tony: or something it was it was crazy. Magic pencil is the guy who helps you isn't he? He's one of our
[650.38] Gav Ferry: patrons. Dave's just logged in and he's one of the guys in it as well as Craig who I don't think's
[656.46] Gav Ferry: logged in at the moment but Craig films who did Nigel's announcer actually for Western all them
[662.38] Tony: years ago. Yeah. Yeah so Nigel you got some tiny work stuff to talk about as well do you want to
[669.26] Nigel: do you want to have a go? Yeah so I don't I mean I'm I'm guessing I know from looking at the chat
[678.78] Nigel: and who's on the chat a lot of these people will know because they're running the clubs that are
[682.94] Nigel: actually part of Tiny Wup UK so Monday we launched Tiny Wup UK and Jesse Perkins went live and
[690.78] Nigel: announced it and so Tiny Wup UK is the first one of a series of very similar groups around the world
[700.14] Nigel: so we're just luckily enough in the UK we're the first to launch and it's an officially a part of
[706.94] Nigel: Tiny Wup and it's it's going there's going to be basically a global club network of clubs around
[714.06] Nigel: the world and supported by Tiny Wup and the idea is to remove all the barriers to getting into the
[722.62] Nigel: hobby and also to running clubs because we recognize that there's clubs everywhere putting on Wup
[728.7] Nigel: events and there's not a lot of support for them so we've designed a lot of software and databases
[736.22] Nigel: and everything that's running now and helping them and I think the most important feature
[743.58] Nigel: is the map is the interactive map we've got a google map on the site all the clubs that are
[748.94] Nigel: currently part of Tiny Wup UK there's 12 on there now another three going on tonight
[753.9] Nigel: and they're all on the map with the location and the idea is pilots can find a club finally
[760.06] Nigel: because normally they have to go on facebook and search everywhere and try and find a club and it
[765.18] Nigel: can be a nightmare on facebook so go on the map and click on one of the links oh there it is I hope
[771.42] Nigel: just like magic yeah any one of those clubs you can click on a club and that brings up information
[780.3] Nigel: so each club has their own page and it tells you about the club any events links to the websites
[787.5] Nigel: articles and what's what we've done as well those pages for the clubs and they have an admin login
[795.5] Nigel: to the system where they update their own page so it's almost like a little bit like a mini facebook
[801.18] Nigel: for tiny Wup if you like they can put their own photographs on their articles whatever they want
[808.06] Nigel: um when they create an event and they list an event and what you'll do what what you'll find
[816.14] Nigel: is that event is listed on their individual page so if you want to find an event near you
[823.02] Nigel: you click on the club nearest to you and have a look what events they've got coming up
[826.7] Nigel: or you can go on to the events page of the website and all the events are listed there
[831.1] Nigel: um it's there's automatic registration uh for pilots if they click on registration it
[838.22] Nigel: registers them for that event uh they just need to put in their email address their registered
[843.18] Nigel: email address um and behind all of this is um a lot of systems a bit like Gavin we've gone we've
[852.22] Nigel: gone crazy like Gavin has we've just created a lot of systems uh do you know what nige i there's
[858.54] NJ: this little tiny little organization you might have heard of them called the CAA and they're
[863.42] NJ: really struggling to sort out some kind of registration system in the UK perhaps you could
[868.14] Nigel: sell this to them for a reason they wouldn't like it i'll tell you why they wouldn't like it
[875.66] Nigel: because it's completely free it's free to the pilots it's free to the clubs where you know
[880.78] Nigel: there's not a charge to anybody because so the CAA would ban that straight away um what how can
[887.18] Nigel: you have a database for a database and tying them up is covering the cost at the moment
[897.74] Nigel: and we do have some revenue streams but the cost isn't on the shoulders of the clubs or the pilots
[904.94] Nigel: so the idea is to grow the community and you can't do that by suddenly just putting
[909.9] Nigel: um you know we want to remove these barriers and having a fee that they have to pay isn't
[914.78] Nigel: removing barriers so it's completely free um in the systems next week we launch the race control
[921.82] Nigel: system we've got our own race control system which is insanely easy to use um basically it's
[928.78] Nigel: just click a few buttons and you're racing and it's that simple it works with rf timers it's
[934.22] Nigel: called whoop control um that links into the website so when a club um creates an event
[944.06] Nigel: and pilots register when they open up race control they click one button and all of the pilots that
[951.1] Nigel: have registered are automatically put into the race control system without any typing or anything
[956.3] Nigel: and then they just click create event create heats and it automatically does it so a bit like what
[961.9] Nigel: what gaffes done and it doesn't run it for you though you do have to click start and stop
[966.78] Nigel: between each heat um but then uh pilot membership and there is membership if you go on the
[974.14] Nigel: membership page and pilots get an app uh the app um has a qr code on the front page with the
[983.5] Nigel: picture of the pilot and when you go to a tiny up event now you just show your app to the camera
[989.9] Nigel: of the laptop or the pc or the tablet of the person running the event and it automatically
[994.94] Nigel: logs you into the race software without having to do anything very clean stuff that's all running
[1000.38] Nigel: now up and up and running um and then the app as well gives live race result updates straight to the
[1007.82] Nigel: app so pilots don't have to go um over to the race control or looking for a screen it's all
[1013.74] Nigel: updated in real time to their app so these are little things that we've put in place just to
[1018.06] Nigel: try and make it easier for for pilots and uh and for organizers basically so yeah that's the
[1025.34] Nigel: basis of it uk is first tiny up usa will be next uh canada shortly after mexico um australia is
[1034.46] Nigel: coming up hong kong and we're currently looking for the right people for germany and france at
[1040.7] Nigel: the moment so yeah it's going to be huge sounds really really good there is a question in the chat
[1046.78] Frank: from ed uh i was i was needed to join these events right yes that i'm glad that he's asked
[1054.94] Nigel: that because a lot of people because this is coming from tinywup they're suspecting that
[1059.1] Nigel: oh i have to have a tinywup and i can tell you now when jessie perkins will tell you the same
[1064.78] Nigel: he actually doesn't care what people fly um the tinywup products the drones as good as they are
[1070.62] Nigel: and i you know i don't even own a tinywup myself i'm heading up tinywup uk and i don't want to tinywup
[1076.38] Nigel: um i've got motors on one of my ur65 but it's not about the products the products were always a
[1084.54] Nigel: an extra for jessie it's always been about the parties the events in the community to jessie
[1089.34] Nigel: so you can fly um a tiny hawk a beta fpv you know um a mobula six which i've just got which i think
[1097.34] Nigel: is absolutely awesome um yeah you can fly anything at the minute we're limiting it to one s
[1104.7] Nigel: brushed or brushless but one s simply because we want to make sure we don't want any accidents
[1110.3] Nigel: or anything and 2s can get pretty hairy indoors um however what we will be doing is having some
[1116.3] Nigel: 2s events and just making sure that the tracks are bigger and a bit safer um but a lot of the
[1122.22] Nigel: clubs some of the clubs are running in bars and and and pubs which is awesome because it makes
[1127.58] Nigel: it more social and some of them are using social clubs and paul jaggers has has some great events
[1135.66] Nigel: and i think you've been to some of paul's events oh yes yeah yeah and got some good ones going now
[1142.7] Nigel: and you look at killer quads killer quads um are in like um it's like a sports hall
[1149.66] Nigel: where they have trampoline and stuff like that and they have a really big setup but
[1154.06] Nigel: some really cool led gates and drum circle in manchester it's a little
[1161.02] Nigel: british legion uh function room at the back but when it's full filled with all the led gates
[1166.46] Tony: it's absolutely crazy so yeah i mean i like the sound of the pub bit as well yeah that's
[1176.46] Nigel: you know what the problem with with the mini quad um i mean i mean you guys know i've been involved
[1181.9] Nigel: with them any cause for years but the problem that i've always found is that the girlfriends
[1186.14] Nigel: and the families that they they just get bored because the guys are so you know so much to do
[1192.46] Nigel: and prepare for and you're in the pits all the time and i first of all i find that whooping is
[1197.5] Nigel: a lot more casual because you take your battery off and you put it on charge and and that's it
[1202.3] Nigel: and you're waiting for your next round and i think when with them being in bars and pubs a lot of them
[1207.82] Nigel: you find that the girlfriends and the families can go along as well and have a drink and
[1211.66] Nigel: socialize and i just think whooping is far more social than the mini quad i'm not taking
[1216.3] Nigel: anything away from mini quad i'm just saying i think it's a different a different community
[1220.62] Nigel: or a different way of of enjoying fpv totally you've been doing it for a few years now
[1229.42] Gav Ferry: we went to the pub with um you were meeting the meeting the uh guys the guys about the game
[1234.94] Gav Ferry: and uh they sort of fried you in the slip in there then gav it wasn't
[1247.42] Nigel: no was it was jesse there it was like yeah it was um was that in london at the uh the uh games con
[1255.58] Nigel: that's that's the one yeah i mean i was great fun though uh you came to the comic con yeah
[1261.5] Gav Ferry: we went to the bar afterwards and we had the projector going and then uh basically uh some
[1267.42] Gav Ferry: guy dressed as um uh whatever he was dressed as getting completely abused by quads basically up
[1274.78] Gav Ferry: on the big screen and it was fantastic yeah i remember that event that was a few summers ago
[1279.34] Nigel: wouldn't it yeah yeah well no what's it called in in london that great big a bit like the nec but
[1286.06] Nigel: it's in london it was there weren't it yeah that's it that's the one it didn't go too great
[1292.7] Gav Ferry: that the uh the common con one though did it it's uh that was kind of like the inspiration to like
[1298.3] Gav Ferry: really get going on the course was like because um we just did it was a much room wasn't it yeah
[1303.74] Gav Ferry: we needed to organize it a lot more it was like a last minute thing that was thrown together
[1307.74] Gav Ferry: and it was uh needed organizing a lot more and all of that so we did what we could but um yeah
[1315.34] Gav Ferry: this i mean that one was kind of inspirational getting the course going like really like doing
[1320.94] Tony: a lot of work about four years ago i think i can't even remember now a long time a few three years
[1326.14] Gav Ferry: ago or something i'd already been doing the course but then that kicked it over drive um how
[1332.06] Nigel: works have changed over the last 12 months and become suddenly they they've come to the forefront
[1338.46] Nigel: they were seen as a secondary toy really to to most fpvers but now they've they've seen
[1344.46] Nigel: seriously you know in their own right and i think quite rightly so and i think it's the end the
[1349.18] Nigel: advent of brushless motors has changed everything for what you know am i allowed to bring my sinewoop
[1356.06] Gav Ferry: is that too big we've had conversations about um we've had conversations about working together
[1363.34] Gav Ferry: and that we will be doing some stuff together but with my with my course my main main thing
[1368.78] Gav Ferry: that i want is a hd camera so the this you know uh mobula 7hg or any free sales i've seen that
[1377.18] Gav Ferry: there's that new one with that can fit the dgi anything like that can take a hd camera
[1384.62] AndyRC: does it have to that's got the uh that's the dgi one that's the dgi vista in a
[1393.66] AndyRC: yeah they well i i guess you class this as a sinewoop but it's this one's three this one's three s
[1400.78] AndyRC: this one's three s so i guess it wouldn't be able to go into these uh not the time
[1412.78] AndyRC: because we've had a bit of sun today i went out and flew that it's absolutely superb and uh
[1418.06] AndyRC: did you put your suntan cream on yeah yeah i have to put suntan cream on when it's overcast
[1426.86] AndyRC: don't i yeah uh i flew that today absolutely uh amazing yeah um i also flew it there's um
[1437.42] AndyRC: something called um low latency mode and i used high quality mode today and i could there's
[1445.02] AndyRC: barely any difference apart from the fact that the picture is like twice as good i i couldn't
[1451.34] AndyRC: believe like the whole time i've been flying in low latency mode thinking this is amazing
[1455.82] AndyRC: flipped up to high quality mode i think uh it was hovering around 39 milliseconds delay
[1463.34] AndyRC: 39 so it goes from 20 i couldn't because if you go back to the split cameras when they were 50
[1472.3] NJ: people were flying yeah it's not it's not an unusable uh millisecond latency at all there
[1478.54] NJ: there are a bunch of of cameras that have been popular that have latencies that floats around
[1485.1] NJ: that anyway uh it's not as big as you think it is certainly for stuff like freestyle i think some of
[1489.9] NJ: the races would definitely uh probably pick up on it uh running high quality as opposed to low
[1495.02] NJ: latency but for most of the the freestyle in general flying around then yeah the high i haven't
[1499.98] NJ: actually tried a high quality yet i've just flown low latency on the dji stuff but try it nj i'll
[1505.66] AndyRC: give it a go i'll be putting a video out and it'll show i think it did go up to uh 40 milliseconds
[1511.58] AndyRC: but i was like when when some of the initial ccd cameras that we were using ages ago they were
[1518.7] AndyRC: about 40 weren't they something like that they weren't far off i think yeah yeah they were
[1523.74] Gav Ferry: getting the slower you get anyway so did anyone ever fly fpv with mobius yes
[1534.14] NJ: you mean the little HD camera that you'd strap on the top what you flew through the actual live feed
[1539.66] NJ: yeah yeah come on yeah
[1546.94] NJ: yeah the mobius that's how that was the software wasn't it the mobius
[1551.18] NJ: and they used to record sort of update it every so often i swear i've seen it somewhere around
[1556.46] NJ: here and i was like oh my god in fact that survived a drowning my mobius that went under
[1563.02] NJ: water in a ditch for a bit and it was blinking and doing something weird but i left it to dry
[1567.98] AndyRC: out and it worked again so well the mobius that was one of those products that was like pivotal
[1575.18] AndyRC: because you didn't have to spend 400 quid on a gopro all of a sudden uh you got that
[1581.34] AndyRC: so uh yeah there's there's been a few i've still got i've still got them obvious and it still works
[1586.06] AndyRC: i have we've all probably got we've all probably got about ten of them because you're still you
[1593.66] AndyRC: could buy ten and it'd be the prize for one gopro wouldn't it the year wasn't it oh yeah yeah yeah
[1602.94] AndyRC: the yi uh that came next that was a big step up wasn't it and that was that was very close to a
[1609.34] AndyRC: gopro uh remember when flight tests they were all they were doing was fpv using the gopro output
[1616.62] AndyRC: weren't they and that must have been oh yeah i can live on gopro as well wow yeah the actual
[1625.26] Curry: pitch was really good unless you put it into the sun in which case you couldn't see anything at all
[1629.74] NJ: but as an actual camera it was very good yeah the very first fpv cameras were all like that though
[1636.06] NJ: the terrible wide dynamic range where you turn into the sun and it's like well
[1643.26] NJ: it's the light and hope i don't crash which is precisely the time everybody was out on those
[1647.18] Curry: early evenings oh summer's still here let's go out as i can't see anything just darkness oh this
[1653.1] AndyRC: thing you can point i did it today because we had it was there were no clouds pointed straight at
[1658.94] AndyRC: the sun and i could see everything whatever they've done with this camera the dynamic range
[1665.02] AndyRC: on it is just great i mean better than a gopro obviously it doesn't have the hyper smooth or
[1672.06] NJ: anything like that but uh incredible i would because you know um recently within the last
[1678.46] NJ: week i've bought the hero 8 black yes i tried out that hyper i was talking to bloods about this but
[1683.58] NJ: i tried out the hyper smooth i did it on two different flights one on and one off i couldn't
[1688.86] AndyRC: see any difference yeah well you wouldn't because that's you flying isn't it you look like you you
[1694.86] AndyRC: fly with hyper smooth on you see that's his fingers you know i know i do you know i call
[1703.9] NJ: hyper smooth nj mode is why i paid all that money for that mode and it's not there it's very good
[1711.02] NJ: though the black's very very impressive image quality but i did also look at because that's
[1717.42] NJ: the same quad that's got the dji system in it and i did when i was looking at the side by side of
[1722.94] NJ: the 1080 off the air unit and the gopro obviously the gopro picture is fantastic but there are still
[1727.82] NJ: instances where the dynamic range can get a bit sucky with a low sun and as you say the dji camera
[1734.94] NJ: is just it doesn't care what it's pointing at it's it's really very very good yeah how long
[1740.62] AndyRC: until we can get one of those in like um you know something like a thai hawk i mean it you
[1746.86] AndyRC: i never expected i never expected the vista to come along so what what are they working on now
[1753.18] NJ: you know kind of thing yeah i mean i'm still i don't like the fpv picture of this so much this
[1759.34] NJ: um the cadux hd i've got in one of these um uh inside this at the uh the whoop one so this is
[1768.22] NJ: the little whoop 1080p camera and the actual recording is great on that it's the live feed
[1775.34] NJ: it's always been the problem with them yeah yeah that's the only thing that i really struggle with
[1780.94] NJ: is that that camera feed is is just a bit too sucky for me to enjoy the flight but the uh the
[1786.78] NJ: recording the 1080p 60s is pretty damn good i think i think that's what people do with those
[1792.94] AndyRC: cameras as they sort of sacrifice being in the moment to have an end result of a hd it's all
[1800.22] NJ: going in the right direction very fast though it won't be long before we're getting everything we
[1803.9] Tony: want yeah have you updated it and managed to fly 26 minutes yet 26 minutes you're talking about the
[1811.66] NJ: 48 kilohertz pwm hype train well to be fair i'll call it a hype train as as uh currykin found out
[1819.9] NJ: it's it's a thing uh mainly for that kind of efficiency and cruising throttle so i don't know
[1825.42] NJ: how much difference it would make in a full-on killer race where you're at top throttle a lot
[1830.38] NJ: um but it's it's definitely a thing and they've definitely proven that under the right circumstances
[1835.5] NJ: you can get a much more efficient um you see a battery you know people with getting one one
[1841.1] NJ: one and a half minutes extra flight time out of a 48 kilohertz pwm as opposed to uh to the slower
[1847.02] NJ: so brilliant again just people are just diving headfirst into squealing every little thing out
[1854.62] NJ: of the this technology that they can there have been reports there have been reports though of it
[1861.1] AndyRC: um blowing escs so i would still be very cautious as well i always say i always say it's if you're
[1868.3] NJ: going to live on the cut on the edge you're going to get cut now and again and these are the things
[1874.62] NJ: the jsc forums if you if uh there's there's a specific thread in dare i say rc groups if
[1881.98] NJ: if you're brave enough to go into rc groups um there is a thread there and the mod's very active
[1887.82] NJ: and there's there's a lot of people helping contribute to that moving forward testing right
[1892.06] NJ: up to 96k uh with uh interesting results there too but yeah likewise um there is there is the
[1901.18] NJ: chance that that you can nuke some stuff so proceed with caution yeah there's if you look
[1907.5] Curry: on the issue page on on the github repository as well as quite a good place for every hundred
[1913.58] Curry: people doing it well as soon as someone does it and they lose a couple of escs and they can't get
[1919.1] Curry: the back obviously that's alarming and as yet there there doesn't seem to be a very um good
[1926.06] Curry: debug story there um that people will look at the logs and sort of give some information about
[1931.74] Curry: oh it looked like it couldn't contact your erc and something went wrong but i haven't heard of
[1935.58] Curry: anybody being able to recover the erc as soon as it's gone to the bad place that's the problem
[1939.9] AndyRC: that's the problem yeah that's why i wanted to mention it yeah you start nuking fits and stuff
[1945.02] NJ: like that it's it's game over but equally i've i mean i've i've actually read through most of
[1950.54] NJ: of that thread and there's there's definitely been instances of people uh flashing wrong targets
[1957.18] NJ: and and just a bunch of pilot era things um where where it's not always been the fault of uh
[1964.22] NJ: of the of the intended use so uh but you know squeaky wheel gets the oil
[1972.94] AndyRC: how does it get so much more efficiency than like one extra minute flight time how
[1977.9] NJ: how is it doing that we haven't really got long enough um
[1990.06] Frank: this episode was recorded in front of a live online audience downloaded and edited to make
[1994.62] Frank: sense when it played audio only censored to please the itunes people hosted on the internet
[1999.66] Frank: forwarded through to your podcast provider downloaded playing on your device and is now
[2003.98] Frank: playing in your ears all thanks to our patreons consider joining them and you'll also get other
[2009.42] Frank: online benefits find out more at patreon.com forward slash let's drone out so nudge um
[2017.42] Tony: all your um whoop stuff does it have to um have ducks to beat you they're built
[2026.22] AndyRC: yeah we we went to the maker space thing we're all flying tiny whoops tony's the only one that
[2031.9] Gav Ferry: hasn't got ducks he goes i've got a whoop and he brings out his cine whoop and he buzzing that
[2039.18] Curry: around like it like it's a distinction here as well tony's tony's cine whoop is just a three-inch
[2048.94] Curry: quad with ducks and a gopro on it that's not really a whoop it's just a ducted quad i think
[2053.58] NJ: we need more context than that that is technically a three-inch quad oh no no have you got that thing
[2059.82] NJ: to hand tony because that thing yeah i don't look at that as a three-inch it's a three-inch
[2069.82] AndyRC: quad but somehow has the footprint of a seven-inch i mean what if you look at what what defines a
[2077.82] Nigel: whoop i think ducks is one of the things but if you don't put on one of your x-classes tony i don't
[2083.98] Tony: think that's the next step just some like bin lids or something around them yeah yeah
[2093.9] NJ: yeah that'd probably work actually ideas like that in his head that's what you need yeah
[2103.26] Tony: that must weigh more than a normal five-inch it does with a 4s battery on it it does what
[2110.06] Tony: and the gopro it does weigh a fair bit it's when they were trying to do soldering or whatever
[2114.62] Gav Ferry: it was on the desk and he literally flies over this desk and just cleared it well blew everything
[2119.82] AndyRC: away yeah i do i do enjoy flying it that's where hypersmooth comes in nj because those
[2127.26] AndyRC: models are quite difficult to fly they're not the easiest to fly are they tone they're really
[2132.62] AndyRC: unstable so that's where your hypersmooth would benefit you nj you need to get one of those
[2139.1] AndyRC: and start making adverts for august or whatever it is that Tony does
[2145.42] Tony: wait don't take my uh clang to fame away i'm sorry term i wasn't belittling yeah okay so what i'm
[2152.14] Tony: trying to say nige does it have to be 1s with a um with a guard on it you know or can you fly it
[2160.78] Nigel: without prop prop guards if it's a league event because there is um i probably didn't mention
[2166.22] Nigel: there is actually um going to be a national league as well and the british championships
[2171.1] Nigel: which is going to be at wings and wheels you were there last year toning i loved that um the event
[2176.3] Nigel: yeah so we're having the british championships um at wings and wheels um so we've got a separate
[2182.94] Nigel: marquee now for the whoops uh wings and wings and we're going to pull the led out and everything so
[2189.1] Nigel: all the clubs are coming to help with that and uh um each club's going to bring at least one track
[2194.62] Nigel: element so and it's like a cross section of the whole uh the whole country which is pretty cool
[2200.22] Nigel: and and name different elements after each club um and the there will be for the league events
[2208.06] Nigel: 1s and has to be ducted and it's mainly for safety and to and to keep a fairly level playing field
[2215.02] Nigel: as well because it's league event individual clubs if they want to run an event that's 2s
[2222.7] Nigel: unducted it's entirely up to them because they're responsible clubs and as long as they're looking
[2227.42] Nigel: after the safety that's fine but league events will be 1s ducted because that's essentially what
[2233.1] Nigel: a whoop is we've tried to define what is a whoop and and the consensus is anything under 85
[2240.7] Nigel: millimeters ducted um but people were going well no 65 was the original it asked me 65 but things
[2248.22] Nigel: have changed so we think 85 and under ducted is a rough estimate of what a tiny whoop is or what a
[2254.46] Nigel: whoop is so but yeah but yeah you're you're sitting up there wouldn't qualify i'm afraid
[2261.66] Tony: it's as big as a whoop okay oh no i'm gonna have to uh i'm gonna have to get on repair in my um
[2266.86] Tony: my work i've had it a few years but i just need to get that camera going again
[2271.18] Nigel: but i'm looking forward to seeing gav's uh interactive track i've been experimenting
[2278.46] Nigel: myself but going the complete opposite way to all the leds and all it and going completely back and
[2285.5] Nigel: i've got the um because i've got so many of the old you know the the cloth gates that fold up and
[2291.34] Nigel: spring out when you open the package i've got loads of them so i'm trying to do something with
[2296.14] Nigel: these because they're just going to be left in a cupboard now so i got two huge uv cannons
[2303.9] Nigel: and i've painted them in uv reactive paint and you wouldn't believe the results these things glow
[2310.62] Nigel: like they're on fire it's absolutely awesome so it's a proper proper stand out yeah the trouble
[2318.3] Nigel: we've i've found with the uv is the the light doesn't travel very far and it doesn't spread
[2323.34] Nigel: well either so unless you've got a really big uv lamp see these two lamps are out of nightclubs
[2328.3] Nigel: and the great bit they're they're like the great big the sortest type type bulbs and it's and
[2334.46] Nigel: there's also it has to be safe uv because some uv is harmful to the eyes they think of the amazing
[2340.38] AndyRC: tan you'd come out with as well yeah i'm not looking happy about this idea no i factor 100
[2349.74] Tony: from here
[2356.06] Nigel: yeah i'm really i really what i really love it is um and obviously gather gather i guess you're
[2362.14] Nigel: sort of the king of of this movement if you like it's almost a separate movement where people are
[2367.26] Nigel: experimenting making gates and i'm using arduino and everything to really you know and people are
[2372.22] Nigel: i mean the smaller clubs that obviously they're making the infinity gates you know with the
[2376.46] Nigel: mirrored edges and stuff which are really cool and and and the latest one which i think the first
[2382.14] Nigel: club i'm going to get told off because all these clubs are on here and they're going to kill me if
[2385.42] Nigel: i pick the wrong one but i'm pretty sure it was cerberus velvet from killer quads they did the
[2392.54] Nigel: first wormhole gate and it looks absolutely superb and if it wasn't him it was paul jaggers
[2398.86] Nigel: because he had one at christmas at his event even watching the videos of everything yeah
[2405.26] NJ: they just touch your brain in even just watching the video back let alone what that must be like
[2409.9] NJ: live but for those few seconds of going through one it's so trippy it's awesome it is very it
[2415.1] NJ: takes me back to the 90s i just well those are funny when you walk through the rotating tunnel
[2422.3] NJ: and feel a bit sick as you try and you remember those and anyone yeah it's kind of that effect but
[2430.54] Frank: even more psychedelic it's awesome what is a wormhole gate then like i'm not sure what you're
[2435.58] Nigel: referring to mirror trick mirrors like angled that's the infinity gate yeah you've got mirrors
[2440.14] Nigel: usually it's a triangle and and the other leds at one end around the edge and what happens is
[2446.38] Nigel: those leds bounce off that mirror onto that one and you get that infinite effect as you fly
[2450.7] Nigel: through so you see when you go in you can't actually see which one's the exit because they
[2455.9] Nigel: all look the same there's like a thousand that's right so unless you fly dead straight if you lose
[2461.26] Nigel: or you hit the side you're stuffed because you can't find your way out they're crazy and then
[2466.46] Nigel: the wormhole gate is like leds in a circle getting smaller and smaller as you fly through and
[2475.66] Nigel: yeah you check out killer quad's latest video that they've just put upon youtube there's a
[2481.1] Nigel: an example of a good wormhole gate there as well they're great and we gotta do a shout out frank
[2487.66] Tony: to a um a tiny loop club down in near brian yeah so around near uh jack so is it gary
[2495.58] Frank: thought of the west sussex uh indoor loop racing group uh on facebook if you're around brighten
[2503.1] Frank: way uh they are hoping or they're they're sort of in talk to sign up to the tiny loop uk groups
[2509.82] Frank: they'll be on there soon yeah they're holding a bunch of uh a bunch of events as well so
[2517.1] Tony: just another group to add to the list yeah that's probably uh probably the closest one to me so i
[2522.86] Tony: might go down then uh once i get my uh go join them in the summer because yeah i saw their video
[2527.9] Curry: they i think they've got an infinity gate the the triangular thing with the reflection
[2532.54] Tony: that's a bit crazy i have to go down and see them guys because they're quite they're only half
[2536.3] Tony: hour away from me so i think yeah i thought they were i thought they were close to the
[2539.98] Curry: chip chest room which makes it close to me but they're close up to your end yeah they're not
[2543.82] Curry: they're not far away from the drive at 40 minutes i reckon you see you see a lot less stressed um
[2551.1] Nigel: tiny loop organizers and you do miniqua organizers i tell you because there's no you know you fit it
[2556.3] Nigel: all in the boot of your car you turn up takes you half an hour to set everything up even though it's
[2560.3] Nigel: led and you're racing and you know i'm i mean western park corner that's why i'm great involved
[2567.42] Nigel: because of western park and setting that up and organizing it you know and i'm glad the
[2571.26] Nigel: media i'm glad ben took it on any and he's running it now because yeah it's a killer but
[2576.22] Nigel: whooping is so easy as long as you've got an indoor venue just yeah plug in your leds i mean
[2582.78] Nigel: most of us now have these they're all battery powered we're using i'll tell you what i've got
[2587.42] Nigel: he's uh and i got the idea from john circle so um i know he's watching um with hula hoops led hula
[2595.1] Nigel: hoops they're absolutely perfect they're the exact right size as well and yeah ten quid each enough
[2601.9] Tony: to build anything yeah i'm gonna have to get on the phone to uh drive junkie and get get me
[2607.1] Frank: self a camera or another loop i think well aries was asking you in the chat he's not flowing a
[2612.86] Frank: we've been one recommend a decent one to go for yeah that's if you look at all the responses
[2622.06] Nigel: yeah i i've just got a mob six and it's it's the best one i've ever flown it's absolutely crazy
[2629.26] Nigel: um but i think the ur 65 as well um you know a bit easier to learn on because i'm just not
[2636.94] Gav Ferry: that mob 65 is so punchy but the mob six sounds so much nicer than the uh ur 65 yeah
[2645.02] Gav Ferry: and they're listening to them the other night and the mob six is so quiet and then someone takes off
[2650.38] Gav Ferry: of the ur 65 and there's just this rattly bag of buckets it's just it flies lovely but it just
[2656.78] Nigel: doesn't sound it if you've not flown for a while i go for the 19 uh thousand kv not the 25 because
[2663.5] Nigel: the 25 is just insane the 19 is a lot more flyable for indoor
[2670.3] Gav Ferry: god i haven't played the 21 000 kvs on and it just uh destroyed all my batteries to be honest
[2676.46] Tony: mikey in the chat says he's got a i have an alien whoop there's anyone following the alien whoop
[2682.06] Tony: they did a whoop yeah well it sounds like it i don't know how big it is though
[2687.34] Curry: the yeah there's the the meteor 65 from beta fpv as well very similar in sort of size and shape
[2693.1] Curry: almost in a mobular there you go very good
[2697.5] NJ: if anyone in the chat wanted to know what these guys were like nice a couple of those i think
[2704.3] NJ: like one is then yeah they'll do one and uh yeah they are just one is um and i think the uk and all
[2710.86] NJ: the ones that were tagged with flags are these had the smart audio so these were a little bit
[2715.82] NJ: of a better idea than the bog standard one but um yeah they're both still going they're both
[2719.9] NJ: still work they're they're great little than the slightly better motors as well i think i believe
[2725.82] Nigel: so but yeah it did yeah let's let's run quite heavy though the ur65 is when you look at the
[2733.82] Nigel: weights that you've got the mob six down to now i think they're quite heavy okay the uk the uk
[2742.62] NJ: 1900 kv and the standard one is 1700 kv so there was a bit of a difference here with the camera
[2749.34] Curry: please um carry kit and i didn't quite see that i see it's a decent camera as well it's the uh it's
[2760.75] AndyRC: to run cam nano 3 i think and uh that's the media with the new b b bt2 connector so i i hear it's a
[2771.71] AndyRC: little bit better not like the load better but uh yeah i really like flying that this one again
[2778.27] AndyRC: though really high kv but um can you not just uh put a throttle limit on if you get the high kv
[2785.63] AndyRC: one you can do that's that's what that's why i went for the 25 000 on this because um
[2794.03] AndyRC: they're actually lighter if you go for a higher kv because it's it's um less windings to go
[2802.67] Gav Ferry: oh very smart you've added don't wanna take it yeah yeah well one thing i'd say is uh i've been
[2810.91] Nigel: to a few events a lot of everybody will make sure they get the right motors and they'll might
[2816.11] Nigel: change the props and they'll do different things and even hydro dip the the covers that you know
[2820.75] Nigel: the canopies and stuff and nobody puts leds on them it's so hard to see them when they're
[2825.23] Nigel: going around the track so really we should be you know you should be putting leds on them so
[2830.43] Nigel: so that people can see where you know where they are on the track even if it's just for a commentator
[2835.71] Nigel: or just so you can dodge them all the way you know that's just one of them i think they're
[2840.99] Nigel: three quid each from drawn junkie they call it the disco leds they're not addressable you just
[2846.83] Frank: straight onto the power and off they go bobbin in the chat has a question he wants to know is there
[2855.63] Frank: an effort to put uh to get kids into the tiny wolf events um so i think with the the brotor rush
[2862.91] Frank: that you've been heavily involved with as well there's been the academy right yeah is that
[2869.07] Nigel: following over into the tiny woop uk it is um i probably shouldn't announce this but since you
[2875.39] Nigel: guys have been so good i'll give you a bit of a hint um the the tiny woop um part of the sim will
[2884.11] Nigel: be splitting off some time in the near future from roter rush um if you are a roter rush member
[2889.95] Nigel: you'll still get the tiny woop but there will be a standalone tiny woop sim um and the reason being
[2896.83] Nigel: is we want to be able to do two things one every single club the race software that we have not only
[2902.91] Nigel: runs real races but also the very same software will run the esport version so every single club
[2910.43] Nigel: uh once we do this we'll be able to run their own online competitions have interclub stuff
[2915.63] Nigel: the other reason that we're doing it is because we are looking to put introduce a program of
[2922.59] Nigel: training for new pilots and especially young kids so it's at the minute learning to fly
[2929.79] Nigel: there's so many different videos and you can use sims but there's no coordinated effort to say
[2935.71] Nigel: this is what you do first this is what you do next and also this is how you charge your battery
[2941.47] Nigel: this is how you set up your you know all those videos are available if you search
[2946.83] Nigel: youtube but where do you go to find the right information and make sure that it's right for
[2951.71] Nigel: you so we'll be consolidating that onto the website from various people and we're already speaking to
[2957.47] Nigel: a friend of Andy RC's about this um uh mr uh lee uh chemistry six well a friend of the show we
[2965.79] Nigel: should say yeah so um and various other people to help us uh put this together um and then the
[2974.91] Nigel: clubs will be helping to do that all the clubs that are on that map have got an open door policy
[2979.07] Nigel: that they welcome anybody to come along they'll put the goggles on to see if it's for you and
[2984.19] Nigel: give you advice and so yeah the the whole point of tinywut uk and the tinywut club network globally
[2991.47] Nigel: is um to help people get into this hobby and to support those already in it and so yeah
[2998.75] Nigel: absolutely be pointless if we just kept it to ourselves wouldn't it sounds really interesting
[3005.23] Tony: i'm itching to get on the phone to drone junk you know drone junkie yeah
[3012.51] AndyRC: i mean if it if it wasn't for tinywoops this year i don't know what i have done because it
[3017.23] AndyRC: would just happen how the weather's been it's been more i don't i'm trying to think if i actually
[3024.99] AndyRC: flew uh yeah probably i could probably count on my hands how many times i've flown five inch models
[3032.67] AndyRC: this year it's it's all been uh at least sub three inch mostly uh just because uh the weather's been
[3042.59] AndyRC: shocking or or up here at least from no it's everywhere it's everywhere again today and it's
[3050.75] NJ: just another uh another low pressure coming in as well so we're gonna see it's weekend it's good
[3055.87] NJ: it's good fun it's a 40 mile an hour i think we're looking in most parts of the uk rain and wind on
[3061.87] NJ: a light breeze we call that up here
[3066.83] Curry: yeah are you waving goodbye okay i was waving i was let lewis stephen m said carry kit and give
[3074.35] Curry: us a wave there yeah that's for you
[3079.07] NJ: any um just while we're in the sort of the last nine minutes of the show andrew is that you love
[3084.75] NJ: this bit i can see it in your face already is there any uh regulation updates anything we we
[3089.47] Frank: need to know about or we'll we'll still where we are at the minute uh pretty much stands as it has
[3096.19] Frank: been so if you're a member of the associations and you're waiting for your operator ID to turn
[3102.03] Frank: up because you signed up through them then that will still be coming along in the next uh couple
[3108.19] Curry: of two three weeks something like that i haven't left enough time for us to rant about bruce's
[3113.55] Frank: videos from last week um but otherwise it's under 250 grams you're good uh till july uh then
[3131.95] Frank: after july if you're flying under 250 grams uh outdoors but with a camera on then you'll
[3137.79] Frank: also need to be registered um but if you're indoors then doesn't matter um i reckon that's
[3144.35] Nigel: going to change as you know i used to be a cop and i know a little bit about the law and um
[3150.83] Nigel: there's a big thing that nobody seems to be shouting about with this 250 if it's got a camera
[3155.79] Nigel: on the only reason they've already said that anything under 250 grams doesn't have to register
[3162.27] Nigel: forget the camera bit for now because it's class as a time is not a danger to airspace
[3167.15] Nigel: that is the caa's remit is air safety they don't have any powers or any legislative
[3175.47] Nigel: legislative it's not easy to say um powers over data protection or privacy it's not that they
[3183.55] Nigel: cannot make laws on that because it's not in their remit to say that if a if a drone
[3189.79] Nigel: has a camera on it now has to be registered and now it comes on the roads
[3195.07] Nigel: actually is not lawful and it only it will only take a good lawyer to test that in court and case
[3201.23] Nigel: law to change the whole thing and then 250s will be unregulated full stop and they're saying that
[3206.83] Nigel: and they've got no legal basis to do so but it needs to be challenged in the court so i think
[3211.07] Frank: that's going to be really interesting in the future here first folks that's great but on the
[3217.15] Frank: toy side uh toy is actually like really really heavily like there are lots of legislation about
[3223.55] Frank: getting something classified as a toy generally because to have something safe enough that kids
[3227.79] Frank: can play with it but there's a lot of testing with us to go involved there's a lot of design
[3232.83] Frank: considerations so just because it's small doesn't mean it's a toy so that's that's an important
[3239.23] Frank: distinction that when we're coming into the the new july uh sort of uh categories uh there is an
[3247.31] Frank: under 250 gram kind of classification that is uh for if it's a um one that's already existing
[3255.87] Frank: or one that you've built yourself but there's also a lightweight category of um these new
[3262.67] Frank: kind of certificates certificated ones that are you know class c1 c2 c3 c4 and so the there's a
[3272.59] Frank: there's i think the c1 on that it comes under the toy legislation so it has has to meet all
[3278.11] Frank: those kind of toy testing rules but that doesn't mean that a tiny whoop is classed as a toy so
[3283.95] Frank: there's there is an important distinction there to make but it doesn't really mean a lot at this point
[3291.55] AndyRC: changes all the time doesn't it we'll be we'll be having to have those
[3294.99] AndyRC: the c the caa faa tags that they're having to have before that yeah they're doing a protest
[3304.91] AndyRC: aren't they in america they're actually going out to the faa wrote a riot posted a video they're
[3310.67] AndyRC: going and do like organizing a proper protest this isn't the same group that we're going to
[3315.87] AndyRC: storm area 51 is it that went well no it's no it's not no right corry 10 minutes to talk about the
[3326.83] Curry: wall we might as well because i think bruce bruce mr clickbaity himself was being i think slightly
[3339.07] Curry: outrageous and slightly disingenuous against all people because what he was basically saying is
[3344.35] Curry: if you register you're a traitor and you're selfish and i don't think it's right
[3349.07] Curry: to go out and vilify people because there's there's many people that are going to be like
[3354.99] Curry: cautious and want to be on the right side of the law because you know they have a place to fly
[3359.63] Curry: which might be public and you know why should they stop flying equally if you don't want to
[3364.51] Curry: register and you want to carry on good for you but i don't think doing either thing is going to
[3370.99] Curry: change at this point where we've already got 80 000 people registered and it's just going up
[3375.15] Curry: i don't think for people to say oh you must all not register else else you're bad you're you're
[3382.75] Curry: you're being bad to the people that that won the war for us in the back of the britain and all that
[3386.91] Curry: poppy cocky was uh spouting on it just absolute um yeah i don't think that was the right thing to
[3394.51] NJ: compare it to that was pretty i think it was fairly insensitive if i'm honest but it was
[3400.43] Curry: like he was using bullets and ammunition and just firing it off yeah there's a best way to put the
[3405.79] Frank: point across but um but the thing that really really annoyed me is this constant accusation
[3415.15] Frank: that the community in the uk hasn't fought really hard against the regulations um but you know i
[3423.23] Frank: think he he shows himself how much effort we've done if you go back to 2016 back to when the
[3430.83] Frank: er's of rules were first being proposed go watch uh the xjet video on that listen to what the
[3437.79] Frank: proposals were like in his words when they first came out and then look at what they are now and
[3444.67] Frank: see how far we've come see all the effort that has gone in through fpvuk and bmfa and
[3452.67] Frank: ask some people in the chat contacting their local MPs and responding to the consultations
[3458.91] Frank: and there's been a lot of effort going on we've brought the regulations back to a point where
[3463.95] Frank: essentially you pay nine pounds and put your name on a bit of paper and otherwise very little changes
[3472.11] Frank: that it's it if you go back to what it originally was it was very different so absolutely but yeah
[3480.59] NJ: i'll say it i've said it before i'll say again now bruce come on the show come and have a chat with
[3485.39] NJ: this you know we we love you very much and all the wonderful things you've done for the hobby
[3489.79] NJ: so you know we're all friends here come come and have a come and have a nice chat with us and we'll
[3494.19] NJ: talk it all through we'll see growing up right that'd be great bruce like for me for example
[3502.03] AndyRC: i mean if i'm a traitor what if your club you're not just a traitor and you're complicit in fraud
[3509.63] AndyRC: did you not hear what he said well what about my what about what about my club that requires they're
[3515.31] Curry: all complicit in fraud as well oh right okay you're like a big crime syndicate over there
[3520.43] Curry: and there's this sort of vilification of people that are just you know having to act within the
[3526.19] Curry: law winds me up because i tend to remember when bruce got his wings taken away he didn't do much
[3532.67] Curry: other than whine about it constantly um i didn't see him sort of you know getting much protesting
[3538.91] Curry: together other than whining uh and and eventually he got it sorted not because he put up a good
[3546.51] Curry: protest just because people got uh somebody else sort of intervened for him and got him sorted i
[3552.43] AndyRC: always go back to other hobbies as well there are other hobbies you have to pay a license for
[3557.23] AndyRC: fishing in new zealand is 133 new zealand dollars a year as an adult if you want to fish so um some
[3566.67] AndyRC: hobbies are worth paying for why do you know that uh just just just because um my uh my brother and
[3578.91] AndyRC: my father were big into fishing and i know sort of like loopholes they had to jump through that
[3585.23] AndyRC: you know and the the number of fish that you can take and the number of fish that you have to put
[3591.07] AndyRC: back and all of this and the licenses so you know 133 dollars just to to fish i would say is uh
[3599.39] AndyRC: quite expensive compared to nine quid here but that's just me i reckon if we look statistically
[3606.59] Curry: as well you'll find out that more people were killed fishing than driving oh definitely yeah
[3613.71] NJ: are these defined but as rod incidents i'm not sure what they're the correct terminology yeah
[3617.87] Curry: just accident people go to hospital all the time like impaled with rods through their necks and
[3621.71] AndyRC: things yeah exactly it's a weekly event i think it's more like sharks and stingrays killing people
[3626.91] Frank: i think when they catch those things hmm i wonder why you know they'd feel inclined to make more
[3634.91] Frank: regulations about you know it's just a hobby it's not as if anyone's building missiles right
[3639.15] Curry: right what like bruce does exactly my point there we go i think we are dwindling our chances
[3648.11] NJ: of getting bruce on this hill come on i will get him on one of these days you know the more we say
[3655.79] AndyRC: against it the more he'll want to come on defend it so uh what else can we say would you guys would
[3663.31] Nigel: you guys be up for having jesse perkins on yeah absolutely yeah i'm sure he'd love to come on and
[3669.87] Nigel: tell you a bit a bit more about the tiny walk network and the the plans for world domination
[3676.11] Nigel: and all the rest of it as uh someone put it yeah yeah you like said it out and talk to us we were
[3685.15] AndyRC: there's something in the um the the FAA proposals that uh doesn't exclude flying indoors i believe
[3694.83] AndyRC: because uh in fact they say actually you can't fly indoors because you can't get a GPS signal
[3700.35] AndyRC: indoors therefore we we can't tell where your ideas uh so you can't fly indoors i'm afraid
[3707.47] AndyRC: there's some some silly thing like that going on i believe so it's that's that's why they're
[3714.43] AndyRC: protesting it's there's some ridiculous things that's from the fba and nobody's thought to say
[3720.83] Nigel: hold on a minute indoors your powers of well it's not about that it's about it's about knowing
[3728.19] AndyRC: who's flying what and where um and and they should say they are proposals you know like
[3734.51] AndyRC: like ours were proposals so that it's sort of like an open question thing so of course when
[3740.51] AndyRC: everybody reads horrendous things like that that's probably not going to be the end result i would
[3747.07] AndyRC: hope not anyways you know banning indoor flying because you can't get a GPS signal nobody thought
[3754.35] Nigel: that trump had started building the wall but he has this is america we're talking about yeah
[3761.55] Curry: outrageous things are mentioned just so when they back off they can say oh look how we've
[3765.79] AndyRC: compromised and everybody's happy now yeah i think it's more a fence than a wall that was in it in
[3771.47] AndyRC: places i think down last week yeah the wind blew it down
[3781.87] Frank: on that note uh frank yeah but um we we should say you know if you if you don't want any of
[3789.23] Frank: this politics and you don't want any of the the stress and running away from police then
[3794.43] Frank: you can quite happily go to some of these events and and fly your tiny whoops and enjoy FPV'ing
[3800.35] Frank: and enjoy racing and meeting up with people and quite often in these events having a drink and
[3806.03] Frank: meeting up with your mates and having a good time and not worrying about any of this so you know
[3810.91] Frank: that's that's as good a recommendation for whooping as anything i think make sure that
[3816.51] AndyRC: you have your drink after you've done your races now have it before it loosens you up a bit no no
[3829.31] Curry: i don't think there's any lore about drunk flying indoors i think there is yeah actually
[3835.55] AndyRC: they wrote a riot they they they did that didn't they and they got a lot of um stick for it they
[3841.15] Tony: did can you just uh do them do you want to tell me today do you want to tell me it's supposed to be at
[3846.51] Curry: the start but sorry any of you is expressed by any guests on this show mainly me it seems a personal
[3851.31] Curry: and may not reflect the views of the host or any other participant in the show thank you there needs
[3857.47] NJ: to be a disclaimer award for each episode awarded i think carrie's won it this week for sure yeah
[3863.31] Curry: well and he needed a week off for a change it's any yeah exactly so thank you everyone for joining
[3869.95] Frank: us we can thank you for all our patreons and everyone that listens and watches along
[3874.99] Frank: and followed along in the chat as well so this week we have everybody put to the window
[3880.91] Frank: oh god it's gonna go wrong there we go we've had tony we've got
