[12.88] Jack: In particular we'd like to thank these guys, Art Faulkner, Mikey Dredd, Wacky Wes, David Powell. [24.24] Jack: Thank you guys, you're the best, we can edit our podcast, thank you. [59.28] Frank: Good evening and welcome again to another episode of Let's Drone Out. This is episode 235. [67.68] Frank: This week we have with us, Tony, Bonjour, I am Frank, we have Andy RC, [76.16] Frank: I do, and we have Curry Kitten. Hello. Jack again, before everyone asks, is back at his [84.88] Frank: jewellery, fashioning thing. I have to say. What did you say? Nothing. Okay. [96.72] Frank: Something about your conversation. I love women, Tony. [102.56] AndyRC: Okay. Do you hear a sound? Yeah, apparently, you know, the new subscribers that we have gained, [110.8] AndyRC: whilst Jack hasn't been here, are used to a different show, and when Pat came back last week, [119.2] AndyRC: they were like, get rid of this Jack guy, and we're like, no, actually, the show that you're [123.76] Tony: watching isn't the actual show. Yeah, we were sensible for four weeks. Yes. And now the master [131.2] Tony: has come back, we've been silly. It was only him that swore and talked about buttholes though, [137.44] Tony: yeah, but that's kind of his jam. So I know that. I mean, I've seen the photographic evidence on [143.76] Tony: his cameras. It's normally Jack Russell, but it might be more of one of those episodes tonight, [149.2] AndyRC: because we've not got NJ to come. So yeah, you're stuck with us for tonight. So what we're going [159.2] Tony: to talk about, chaps. I reckon we should go off Curry Kitten's video, last video he put up. [169.6] Curry: It's so, so bad, hasn't it, that I'm guessing no one's really done any flying, unless Andy, [175.04] AndyRC: you've managed to sneak out into your dog poo area. I've been doing a lot. I've got a lot to [180.4] AndyRC: save always, but I'll let you take the lead with what you've been doing, Wayne. [186.4] Curry: Oh, well, I just, as many people know, I just put out a video about some of the history of FPV. It [193.2] Curry: was, it was prompted because I got a ping on Facebook from a guy called Larry, who said he was [200.64] Curry: asking about the history and I showed him this article I did. And he said, Oh, I was I was doing [204.96] Curry: this in the 80s. I was like, really, tell me more. I thought I'd caught the guy I thought that was [210.4] AndyRC: doing it the earliest, which is 1989. Sounds like the kind of word that the CIA would use. [220.08] Curry: It's really hard to get things because although, you know, lots of stuff in sort of, you know, [227.36] Curry: history terms has been documented and put on the internet and stuff. Guy Ponson about with play, [235.36] Curry: very what they were doing. And even was the fact that they put it on the internet, [241.2] Curry: it was only the fact that a couple of guys put out their own videos about like, I've developed this [247.04] Curry: video system as well. So because FPV hadn't been coined, and I want to try and sell it, [251.52] Curry: but they never really popularized. So those guys kept all of the stuff. The other guy called Barry [256.4] Curry: that built a little sort of virtual cockpit out of a Sega arcade game. Yeah, he got covered with [263.52] Curry: some like local news as well. So there was a little bit more about him. But Larry had kept [268.96] Curry: all 48 of his VHS tapes, that he must have just gone absolutely wild, taping all his builds, [277.36] Curry: and his sort of story about how he was doing all the antenna and just him flying about and stuff. [283.12] Tony: So yeah, he done better than NASA than keeping his tapes, because NASA taped over their moon land. [288.8] Tony: Yeah, coronation. I've got like no tapes I could keep despite like me writing my name on them, [300.96] Curry: where your family wouldn't like tape over them with something. Just be into the crucial bit and [305.52] Curry: it's gone. But yeah, 1986, he started messing about putting a camera on a plane. And that was [313.76] Curry: only because he had like a brother-in-law that works in sort of a security firm. So he had this [321.2] Curry: spare demo black and white camera and send that. Oh yeah, you've watched the video. So he's put an [327.04] Curry: hour long out him and he's made a mini documentary, which is really well put together. The documentary [332.4] Curry: stuff really works if anybody hasn't seen it. Have you got a link to it? So it's his own channel. [339.44] AndyRC: It's not something you've put on your channel. Can you tell everyone in your household to get [345.6] AndyRC: off the internet? I was going to say, you are breaking up. You're like potato, but your audio [351.04] AndyRC: is breaking up as well. Is Sophie on the old Netflix or is she watching some of that stuff [356.24] Curry: that you've been, you know. They could be doing anything downstairs. Who knows? A lot of your [362.24] Tony: res of your screen or something, maybe. I don't know. I don't know how to do that. Hold on. Let [368.64] AndyRC: me get this. It's gone all right now. It's gone all right now. [371.6] Curry: It's just you're breaking up a few times. [375.2] Curry: But we rely on the RC being that like the potato just grown used to that. [380.4] AndyRC: No, but in the end you're looking sharp now. Yeah, it was only the potato on the other system [385.12] AndyRC: because I don't know. I don't know why. It works good on this one. [391.2] Tony: I really enjoyed your video actually. Which one, Tom? [395.44] Tony: Well, I've enjoyed quite a lot of your videos, but I was sorry. I was talking about curry [400.64] Tony: kittens. Oh, sorry. History. You know I watch yours every day religiously. Whenever there's [406.72] Curry: something comes on, I get me toast and coffee and watch Andy. Frank was just mentioning [413.68] Curry: really stuff. I think Frank mentioned about this little Japanese toy thing that came before the [420.0] Curry: dragon flyer, which I managed to find until I managed to find up something else with this antenna. [430.72] Curry: No idea how it worked though, because I don't know what the flight controller would. [434.96] Tony: It was mechanical. I saw some guys. Mechanical flight controller. [439.44] Tony: Yeah, mechanical drivers. Oh, okay. [442.88] Frank: So it just literally had like a flywheel and then with the force from that, that was them feeding [448.32] Frank: back into everything else. All kind of analog electronics. So, yeah. I suspect even if the [455.6] Frank: antenna wasn't holding it up, there was probably something at play keeping it stable. [466.29] Curry: It was a weird old thing. But somebody else reckoned that Volkera [471.97] Curry: had something around in the very early 90s as well. The UFO quadcopter, which I'm trying [479.33] Curry: to find out about. I'm just trying to build a little bit of time. I think it'd be quite interesting. [486.21] AndyRC: Andrew slash Frank, he's pulling a funny face because he's heard a female's voice [492.45] Tony: coming through. I'm just getting delivered some food and drink. Oh, yeah. But by what delivery [502.29] AndyRC: service? Anyway, something tells me tone is going to disappear very soon after tonight's show. [513.17] AndyRC: Yeah, I won't be hanging around. What food have you got? Sausage, is it tone? [521.49] AndyRC: I'm giving away chipmars. Fair enough. Right. Sorry. [526.62] Curry: I'd like to see the chat. People are mentioning about the flat earth. Oh, yeah. Oh, he died, [539.34] Curry: hasn't he? With respect to the man, I suggested it should be some sort of Darwin Award. [545.18] Curry: It was steam powered as well, wasn't it? It was a rocket and he'd launched it once [550.54] Curry: and he injured himself because his two parachutes didn't slide him down enough. [555.66] Curry: Literally, almost broke his spine. And obviously, this time, something went very wrong and the [561.98] AndyRC: thing just nose dived into the ground. Something with the parachute failure or something I didn't [569.9] AndyRC: look I just saw a post that came up on Facebook. But I think they reckon he sort of lost [577.66] Curry: consciousness or something because although one of the as it launched, one of the parachutes [582.14] Curry: detached, but apparently had free backups, which he didn't deploy. So the deployment didn't work [587.74] Tony: or he was already conscious. It looked like the parachute gave him too much drag at the start, [593.5] AndyRC: didn't it? I reckon he got to a certain high, saw the curvature and thought, oh, my God, [599.5] AndyRC: right. I'm just going to have to end it all now and just didn't deploy his parachutes because [607.58] Curry: he does all of ice and gets too excited. I don't think he was actual flat earther though. [613.34] Tony: He was like, no, he wasn't. I just wanted to say, look, I've seen it now. Yeah, I totally believe [618.94] AndyRC: it, blah, blah, blah. The flat earth thing for him was to get it was a way for him to [628.86] AndyRC: public, like it was publicity for his stunt. He's an evil, can evil type of person. And jumping on [636.86] AndyRC: the flat earth bandwagon is just gonna give it I mean, how could you ever in a steam powered [643.34] AndyRC: rocket that will only reach what, not even 1000 feet, show the curvature of the earth, you know, [650.62] Tony: I think he went up far higher than that last time and hurt his back and stuff. I think it was [657.98] Curry: 1500 feet, wasn't it? I think you're not suggesting any that someone would pretend to believe in flat [662.94] Curry: earth publicity or controversy it might cause. Well, who would do such a thing? All I'm saying [673.26] AndyRC: is I know of cases where that has been, you know, happening. So, you know, wouldn't surprise me if [680.78] AndyRC: that's what this chat was done. But very tragic. That is very tragic that that's happened because, [688.3] AndyRC: you know, it's people like that, in a way that, you know, the risk takers that did actually get [695.82] AndyRC: us into space, you know, exactly. So you got to give respect there. And, you know, the flat earth [705.42] AndyRC: thing was him just trolling and abusing it to get, you know, his to get somebody to film it for him, [713.9] Tony: probably, you know, I just watched a year in space on Netflix. It looks boring. What was it? It was [721.98] Tony: good. It's not boring. I enjoyed it, mate. I really liked it. I mean, talking about, you can see a lot [729.9] Tony: of the space station and him going up and all the efforts and it was what the human body goes through [734.94] Tony: in the year in space and stuff. And the funniest thing for me was his feet, you know, you have to [741.82] Tony: you float constantly floating around. So the top of their feet where they have to shove them under [747.5] Tony: bars so they don't float off. The top of their feet get all calluses on and all the bottom of [752.46] Tony: their feet turn into baby feet. All soft and soft and like a bum, baby's bum. Yeah, pretty much. [761.66] Tony: But it was interesting. It was good, good watch. I definitely watch it. I might watch it then. [767.74] AndyRC: It just looked a bit boring when I like when looking at other stuff. And what's interesting [773.98] AndyRC: about Scott Cowley is he's got an identical twin who is also in the space agency. That's why he [780.7] AndyRC: was sent up. Yeah, that's why he was sent up so that they could monitor the differences between. [787.02] Tony: Between you or go up sort of thing. Yeah. He's now six minutes and three milliseconds older. [794.78] Tony: He was only six minutes older now he's milliseconds because obviously, [799.66] Tony: time slows down over there. All speeds up. No, it slows down. Yeah. [806.38] Frank: It's all relative. When are you going to go up in this giant sized Thor frame and [813.18] Frank: like going to go jump onto a SpaceX rocket and hitchhike your way up? [818.86] Tony: I'd definitely have a go on the DCL thing. Yeah. [824.62] Frank: Andy, so Curry was looking at some VHS tapes, which is kind of how we ended up on that way. [831.18] AndyRC: I hear you're digging around some VHS tapes as well. Well, not myself, but my pal Phil. [839.9] AndyRC: Yeah, we did a lot of recording when I was in a club when I was younger. So there's a lot of [846.38] AndyRC: footage of us flying years and years ago. Problem is it's on VHS and the other problem is [853.82] AndyRC: VHS Phil learned that it's like the tape goes moldy. So I think you're trying to figure some [861.98] AndyRC: of that out. But actually, something that Phil did do, and I think it was the year 2000 that he did [868.86] AndyRC: it, he built a, I can't remember, he'll text me with the name of it, but he had a big massive [878.06] AndyRC: super cup and he put a full sight. When those VHS cameras came out, they were about this big. [889.18] AndyRC: And they had a field of view of about three degrees. So he built this massive super cup, [897.34] AndyRC: you know, probably, I don't know. Well, he worked three at a time, so it was only like seven, [903.5] AndyRC: that big. I think it was probably, I'd say maybe, or 10 foot wingspan. [911.42] AndyRC: Was he far away from it or very near? [917.34] AndyRC: But he put his at the time very expensive, you know, handheld camera in this club. It had to be [926.3] AndyRC: because, you know, that there weren't any other options. And so we didn't, it wasn't FPV, it was [933.9] AndyRC: just recording, you know, whatever. And then I think one of the club meetings, he brought the video [941.18] AndyRC: and we were just like, wow, because we'd never seen our fields from above. It was really strange. [949.58] AndyRC: But at the same time, we didn't know what we were looking at because we'd only ever flown at the [954.38] AndyRC: club line of sight. So we actually got lost looking at the footage. Because when you're flying [962.62] AndyRC: line of sight, obviously, you fly in a different way. And the video doesn't necessarily come out [969.74] AndyRC: how you want it, you know, you have to point the camera down, it has to be, you know, you have to [976.3] AndyRC: fly in a different way, which obviously can't do if you can't see it. But that was early 2000s, [982.3] AndyRC: when Phil was doing that. But not only has he been looking at old VHS tapes, but you may have [991.9] AndyRC: seen a video that went up on my channel, where Phil got hold of the original transmitter that I [1000.38] AndyRC: learned to fly with in 1985. Was that the one where you had to get a loan to basically buy it [1007.1] Tony: in a magazine subscription based loan? That's that's the one the brochure actually had a payment [1013.1] AndyRC: plan. Yeah, it was a hundred and 174 pounds in 1988. So that's a lot of money, man. I mean, [1021.5] AndyRC: if you could, you could probably work probably some conversion thing. Frank could do it in his [1027.34] AndyRC: head now. A million pounds probably. Yeah, but that was so it turned out I actually got a bargain [1036.3] AndyRC: because I bought it in 1988 for 80 pounds with four servos and a receiver. And yeah, it was a [1045.82] AndyRC: funny enough, a British made transmitter as well. So I mean, everything could come from Britain a [1052.3] Tony: long time ago. Yeah, yeah, we had that little stamp on our stuff. And I think we're realizing [1059.42] AndyRC: it now with the Coronavirus, how much we have let go of that. Because, you know, when that happens, [1068.86] AndyRC: the world stops. And there's something slightly wrong about that. But anyways, in not going back [1074.7] AndyRC: to that video, Phil got it, but it wasn't in working order. So this this week, he painstakingly [1086.94] AndyRC: gave it what he called an MOT. He fixed something like that. You know, be flying for, you know, [1097.66] AndyRC: years and years and years and understand this. It's just, you know, really good at stuff like that, [1104.38] AndyRC: and understands how it works. And although I think he did fry a pack of batteries, trying to get it [1112.62] AndyRC: to work. But yeah, yeah, to do a lot of restoration on it. And yeah, I flew with it. And that video [1121.1] AndyRC: should be going up tomorrow. It was forward to seeing that. Yeah, it was. I can't look looking [1127.66] AndyRC: back. I have no idea how I think I think I said something like it makes those cheap ishy and [1136.06] AndyRC: crappy Xbox toy ones look revolutionary, because the thing was almost uncontrollable. There was [1146.06] AndyRC: like a dead zone in the middle of about three millimeters. So I could do this on the sticks, [1153.82] AndyRC: and the servos wouldn't move, you know. So and he is me trying to hover it. Phil put a camera on it [1161.98] AndyRC: facing like upwards, so that when I stuck it into a hover, it faced myself. So I cut bits of [1172.14] AndyRC: that. And so hopefully it should be an interesting video. Richard Warwick said in today's money, [1177.9] AndyRC: about 440 quid. So and this is what I said in in the video that will be coming out. It's like, [1187.66] AndyRC: you when you fly something like that, you realize how spoiled we are today compared. And we were [1196.14] AndyRC: happy as anything that, you know, that transmitter back in the end. It's Larry, as we found out from [1203.66] Tony: Curry again. Yeah, happy as Larry. You hear me now, by the way. Yeah, you sound good. [1210.22] Curry: I was just going to say, talking of like you said about putting that big VHS in the plane, [1214.46] Curry: someone commented that a friend of theirs put in an eight millimeter silly cam in their plane, [1221.02] Curry: which is really going for it, because not only do you have to put that in there, set it off, [1226.22] Curry: you then have to get the film, take it off to be processed, which is even more complicated than [1231.34] Curry: taking old like photo films to boot silly film. And he said when he got it back, it was all shaky [1237.18] Curry: anyway, because the vibration from the whatever the motor was, some glow motor or whatever they [1243.9] AndyRC: used back in the day. Yeah, I don't think. Gosh, I'll have to text him enough. Hang on, [1252.3] AndyRC: send him a message. Right. Here we go. Here we go. I got the information. [1258.54] AndyRC: He's still for watching. He said the old camcorder tapes shows all flying through November, [1266.86] AndyRC: December January. Oh, it was called the precedent T240 Sony Hi8 XR near broad class quality. So [1280.22] AndyRC: Sony Hi8 was the name of the camera. And the precedent T240 Cobb was the name of the [1290.7] Curry: plane that he stuck the camera in. The fancy stuff, wasn't it? That was beyond [1295.82] AndyRC: eight mil. That was Hi8. Yeah, that was it. Yeah. But it seems that the tapes have still gone [1302.38] AndyRC: moldy. And I remember it still being a hefty thing, though, to stick in. And I think I could [1309.5] AndyRC: be remembering this wrong. But I think he put a load of foam around it in case it crashed. [1318.38] AndyRC: Mainly. But I think the added bonus of that was that it didn't come out that shaky. I haven't seen [1325.02] AndyRC: the footage in a long time. So it'd be interesting to see that. I'm planning to, if we can rescue it, [1333.98] AndyRC: it'd be really cool to put some of that on my channel, because you'll see footage of me. [1338.94] Tony: It'd be cool to redo the whole thing. Maybe you should do it again and fly again. [1344.22] AndyRC: Well, well, we redid the I went back to my old transmitter and flew a plane with it. So [1351.5] AndyRC: yeah, the thing the thing is, the problem is, though, with that size of aircraft and [1358.54] AndyRC: that camera, you need a proper big, I mean, a really big area because it's a big model. [1365.74] Frank: Because you've got to do a Max Yak thing and just get like a tiny little pocket camera. [1371.58] AndyRC: The problem is, Andy, is that those old those old transmitters are using 35 megahertz and the [1381.66] AndyRC: receivers are the size of a brick. So luckily, there was one receiver that was released by Jetty [1390.86] AndyRC: that was 35 megahertz. I've got one in a box over there. And this is what Phil used. And he put it [1397.98] AndyRC: on a shot fly. So this was all done indoors. So I was flying this transmitter that had zero control, [1405.02] AndyRC: trying to do 3d indoors, it was quite challenging. And you know, I've got shaky hands anyways. [1412.78] AndyRC: Phil was panning to the transmitter. And some of it was shaking. But some of it was me trying to [1419.34] AndyRC: actually just control the damn thing, you know, I said, I said to Phil, why have you put the camera [1425.26] AndyRC: upright? He said, because I want to see how blurry your fingers get when you try and fly with the [1430.46] AndyRC: thing. So yeah. So yeah, that was fun. I don't know if people will, they certainly like seeing the old [1440.78] AndyRC: gear. And but there were a lot of people that were disappointed that I didn't fly with it, but it [1450.22] AndyRC: wasn't working. So Phil, as always stepped up to the game, got it working. And I was able to fly [1459.02] AndyRC: with it. So yeah, it was it was cool, but scary at the same time, because there's just no control. It [1465.58] AndyRC: was worse than that ishy novice, whatever thing, you know, that's seriously bad. Yeah, exactly. And [1474.86] AndyRC: you know, I crashed within 30 seconds with that. Luckily, because it was a foamy and a plane, [1482.46] AndyRC: I've got more experienced flying planes, believe it or not, even though you don't see it on the [1486.78] AndyRC: channel that much. So I didn't crash straight away, but it was pretty close. Dave's story says, [1495.34] AndyRC: wonder what Andy RC has spent on RC over the years. Well, I could tell you. [1502.22] Tony: I reckon you've spent a lot on the RS over the years. On the RC? No, that doesn't get much [1512.54] AndyRC: attention. [1516.54] AndyRC: Go on, I reckon six grand. What? And the entire time of RC. [1525.74] Tony: I know. I don't know how long you've been in it. You've been in it for what, 20 years probably? [1533.5] Tony: 31. Bloody hell. I think I worked it out. [1542.3] AndyRC: No, that's not right. 30, 30. Yeah, because I think around just 29, 30. [1550.54] AndyRC: So it's like two houses. [1553.02] AndyRC: It gets very blue. Two houses. What do you mean? Oh, no, no, we're talking about my age. [1561.9] Curry: We're talking about my age. [1564.78] AndyRC: However, if we are talking about money, then you are not far off. [1571.34] AndyRC: In fact, you are under the amount if you went for 30. [1580.06] AndyRC: Well under the amount. [1582.7] Tony: Put it this way. It's yet to pay me back. [1585.9] Tony: Mike Drede says, easy 50 grand. [1589.02] Curry: What, how much Mike he's spent or is he guessing that, Andy? [1594.14] Tony: Let's do a guess. Nearest wins the f***ing sock. [1598.06] Frank: Are we doing it in 2020 pounds or are we doing it as sort of as it was spent? [1604.38] Curry: We have to do it as it was spent, don't we? Rather than just do it for inflation. [1609.02] Tony: This is just for inflation. Right. Mike, he says 50. Dave Story says 45 grand. [1616.06] Tony: Come on, guys. Get your guessings in. [1620.86] AndyRC: It's a number that I don't want to. [1624.3] AndyRC: You have to disclose it now, we're chatting. [1626.22] AndyRC: Andy, in 30 years, easy 50 Gs. In one year. [1631.98] AndyRC: Spider's got 71. [1635.9] Curry: What are we doing here, for God's sake? [1637.9] Curry: Very specific. Have you worked it out, Andy? Do you have it? [1641.58] AndyRC: Do I look like a rich person? [1644.78] Curry: You've pissed it all away on RC stuff. [1650.06] AndyRC: I'll tell you why. I could tell you why I spent so much money on RC, but it's a sad story. [1656.62] AndyRC: So perhaps we shouldn't go there. [1658.86] AndyRC: Well, I like sad stories. [1661.02] AndyRC: Well, I had. [1661.66] Tony: It says over 9 grand. [1664.54] AndyRC: It's one of the reasons the channel started. [1667.9] AndyRC: Have I said it before? [1668.78] Tony: I've probably said it before, but we're there now. 28 grand. [1672.38] Tony: There's criminal. [1674.46] Tony: Now, we're randomly shouting. He's out and talking over you. [1679.9] AndyRC: So, yeah, I had a friend die at work. [1688.06] AndyRC: I used to work in a bank. And funnily enough, when you work in a bank, [1694.46] AndyRC: you don't get bank holidays off. Everybody else does, except if you work in a bank. [1699.74] AndyRC: We have reduced staff, though, and the chap who I was working with [1708.22] AndyRC: came in at the exact same age as me. [1710.78] AndyRC: And no pre-existing conditions and just got a blood clot in his heart and died. [1718.54] AndyRC: And it really sort of changed my, I was always very good with money, like, you know, [1727.42] AndyRC: with saving and things, you know, and then when this big life changing thing happened, I was like, [1734.3] AndyRC: oh my God, like, you could die tomorrow, you know, and I never really bought anything. [1740.06] AndyRC: I never treated myself to anything, really, you know, I guess it was just how I was bought up. [1746.86] Tony: So, I got it and goes on holiday every 10 seconds. [1752.7] Frank: So, you decided that you could either buy a small village around where you are, or just [1758.86] Frank: lock passing stuff. [1761.1] AndyRC: Yeah, so I'll tell you this, because everybody's saying numbers and stuff. [1765.42] AndyRC: And I start with what at Mars? [1768.22] AndyRC: Yeah, yeah, what? Have you heard Jethro's, his retiring tone? [1774.54] AndyRC: Oh, no, is he? [1775.74] AndyRC: Yeah, he's just, I mean, are you not a member of the Jethro fan club? [1783.42] AndyRC: Oh my God, I had to take the day off work when I found out, which technically is every day, [1791.18] AndyRC: because, yeah, anyways, what was I gonna say? [1795.9] AndyRC: Yeah, so when this big life changing thing happened, I mean, I couldn't tell you the actual [1801.18] AndyRC: number, all I know is that I found flight test, and, you know, I just wanted everything FPV. [1813.74] AndyRC: And there weren't at the time, there weren't any, like, FPV shops in the UK. [1821.9] AndyRC: Well, anytime I searched or watched videos, they all pointed towards banggood. [1829.18] AndyRC: And when you compared the prices, or Hubby King, should I say, as well. [1835.66] AndyRC: Yeah, I spent a lot of money, move on. [1838.7] Frank: This episode was recorded in front of a live online audience, [1841.9] Frank: downloaded and edited to make sense when it played audio only, [1845.42] Frank: censored to please the iTunes people, hosted on the internet, [1848.3] Frank: forwarded through to your podcast provider, downloaded, playing on your device, [1851.98] Frank: and is now playing in your ears, all thanks to our Patreons. [1855.98] Frank: Consider joining them, and you'll also get other online benefits. [1859.42] Frank: Find out more at patreon.com forward slash let's drone out. [1863.82] AndyRC: You tell me, you like tell me how much you've spent. [1866.86] Curry: Well, I've not worked it out, but it sounds like you have. [1871.5] Tony: I worked 29 drones. [1877.65] Tony: No, no, probably not more than five. [1881.65] Tony: Five grand. [1882.77] Frank: Probably. [1883.97] Frank: Are we having withdrawal from spending all that money on RC stuff? [1888.05] Frank: Is that the problem? [1889.25] Frank: Because with all of, you know. [1891.57] AndyRC: Well, I ain't got any more money to spend on RC stuff. [1894.77] AndyRC: It's all gone. [1896.05] AndyRC: So, you know, it's irrelevant, isn't it? [1898.69] Frank: A couple of people have said in the chat, [1902.29] Frank: Banggood and more expensive new case sellers now. [1904.93] Frank: It's what Mr. Shady said, but there's a few other mentions of Banggood earlier. [1910.45] Frank: That, you know, it's kind of hard to get hold of stuff at the moment. [1915.57] Frank: Has anyone actually received anything? [1919.25] Curry: No, it's almost like people are dropping dead in China, isn't it? [1922.45] Curry: Can't figure it out. [1924.45] Curry: Everything's just slow. [1926.85] Curry: I think there's a good old file. [1929.57] Curry: I don't know. [1931.09] Curry: Last time I spoke to our Banggood person, me and Andy have the same guy. [1935.89] Curry: He was at home still, but cooking. [1939.65] Curry: But I think that all this stock was out. [1942.45] Curry: I see stock out and a lot of retail. [1944.77] AndyRC: This is the thing, you can say that UK prices are cheaper than Banggood, [1952.45] AndyRC: but what you're probably talking about batteries, because you can't buy a [1958.53] AndyRC: Marbula 6 from Quadcopters UK, you know? [1962.45] AndyRC: You can't, and if you can, all they've done is drop shipped it from Banggood. [1968.93] Frank: Can we just go over quickly? [1971.17] Curry: Oh, yeah. [1972.05] Curry: Andy's getting controversial. [1973.25] Curry: Any views expressed by any of our guests, brackets Andy, I see, [1976.61] Curry: on this show are personal and may not reflect the views of the host or any other participant [1981.09] Curry: of the show. [1982.77] Curry: Many good retailers and other people exist, all equally brilliant, I'm sure. [1988.37] AndyRC: Thanks, Gary. [1991.49] AndyRC: The thing is, regardless to where you buy stuff from, whether it's America, here, [1997.33] AndyRC: it's all made in China. [1999.25] AndyRC: When China stops, the stock eventually runs out, so you can't get anything anyways. [2007.17] AndyRC: People buy from the UK, they're helping out the UK economy, but at the end of the day, [2014.93] AndyRC: it still all came from China. [2016.77] AndyRC: That's why they're having to lay off people at JCB, because all the parts are coming from China. [2025.89] AndyRC: Same with the lock-on effect, isn't it? [2028.45] Tony: It's getting quite scary now. [2033.17] Tony: Virus plus the bloody economy is what I'm worried about. [2036.13] AndyRC: I think it's a real sort of, it's going to be a wake-up call for us that when China goes down, [2045.33] AndyRC: the rest of the world shouldn't, but it has, so there's something wrong there that needs to be [2050.21] AndyRC: changed. [2052.69] Tony: Yes, it's- [2054.29] Tony: Warren, I think Harry's put 13 grand. [2058.21] Tony: I don't know if he was guessing, or that's what he'd spent. [2062.37] AndyRC: I don't know the actual number. [2064.21] AndyRC: All I know is that I know how much I spent when my friend passed away in the first year, [2072.69] AndyRC: and it's the same amount as the age I was at the time in thousands. [2081.49] AndyRC: What's this? [2082.05] AndyRC: I think the coronavirus, what did that say? [2084.21] AndyRC: I missed that. [2085.33] AndyRC: And the coronavirus created by the US government, so people wouldn't be so worried about remote ID. [2091.65] AndyRC: There is a conspiracy about that, isn't there? [2093.97] Tony: That it was planned. [2098.29] Tony: It could be though, couldn't it? [2100.53] Frank: Yeah. [2101.01] Frank: I think coronavirus is a bigger thing than the remote ID. [2108.05] Frank: Remote ID is quite- [2109.17] AndyRC: Yeah, you get into the point where it's pandemic. [2112.05] AndyRC: You could say it's frivolous in comparison. [2114.53] AndyRC: By the way, has anybody received their- [2118.05] AndyRC: No, I've still not got mine yet. [2122.21] AndyRC: I didn't want to put it too- [2123.41] AndyRC: I had a spitfire on it. [2126.21] AndyRC: Yeah, I've got mine. [2128.21] AndyRC: Yeah, I wish it had a- [2132.29] AndyRC: I wish it had a helicopter, a multirotor, a plane. [2137.25] AndyRC: It should have all of them on. [2138.77] Tony: Yeah, but the spitfire is so UK, isn't it? [2142.37] Tony: Come on. [2143.01] AndyRC: That is true. [2145.41] AndyRC: I think if you're in a field and PC plug turns up and you're flying a drone and you flash a [2151.57] AndyRC: card that's got a spitfire on it, it's not- [2153.73] AndyRC: It ain't too good. [2154.61] AndyRC: He's going to say- [2156.13] AndyRC: He's not- [2156.53] AndyRC: He's going to do that. [2157.73] Curry: His card said you're allowed to fly spitfires and trap them on one. [2162.05] Curry: That's what he's getting. [2163.25] Tony: That's what you need in his face. [2166.69] Frank: It looks a lot more like a loyalty card than- [2171.41] AndyRC: Yeah, I found that. [2173.49] AndyRC: It's right in Sainsbury's. [2175.57] AndyRC: It actually is, believe it or not, you get money off stuff, like nectar points or something like [2185.57] AndyRC: that. I haven't looked it. I've got it. [2187.73] Tony: I'd rather get that out in Sainsbury's than one nectar card, to be fair. [2192.05] AndyRC: What's it say here about it? [2194.85] AndyRC: I think I might have thrown the bit that came with the card. [2200.69] AndyRC: Okay. [2201.17] Curry: Is this your, like, I'm official special registration number card thing? [2208.05] Curry: Is it what? Sorry. [2208.93] Frank: It's a membership card. [2211.49] Frank: I think it could- [2212.21] Curry: Just membership or is it your flyer ID and stuff that you have to have? [2216.77] Frank: Yeah, it's got all that on it, but I haven't checked. [2220.93] AndyRC: Yeah, it has. [2223.57] AndyRC: It says your name, it's got your membership number and where it's valid to. [2229.81] Tony: It's linked with all numbers just for a laugh. [2232.53] AndyRC: It says Vectis card. [2237.09] AndyRC: So what does Vectis do? [2238.61] Frank: I think it's a loyalty discount thing like nectar, I think. [2244.05] AndyRC: Why on earth do we need that? We do not need that. [2247.09] AndyRC: BMFA, get multi-wrote off, for God's sake. [2250.29] AndyRC: I just, I mean, I, you know- [2252.77] Frank: What it is, it's, because obviously the old, like, a few years ago, [2258.05] Frank: they'd just send out their own cards that they got made. [2262.93] Frank: And they stopped that because it was expensive and didn't do anything. [2267.81] Frank: Lots of people complained. [2269.09] Frank: So then they went, okay, well, we're not doing it, go away. [2273.89] Frank: But then they joined up to and started managing the membership through Azure, [2278.45] Frank: or whatever it's called. [2279.41] Frank: So it's kind of clubs membership database system that's for, like, you know, [2287.81] Frank: sport, like gyms and sports clubs and all that kind of thing. [2292.21] Frank: So they're using that to manage all their membership. [2295.09] Frank: And as part of that, that's already got built into it, this Vectis system. [2299.33] Frank: So they've gone, ah, there's a way we can get all their members to stop complaining [2304.13] Frank: at us about the lack of a membership card by sending them this cards that says BMFA on. [2311.25] Curry: Crushed, crushed FTS just was, yeah, thanks for the money. [2314.61] Curry: We've now sold on your personal data to another guy who will market to you [2318.85] Curry: and all sorts of crap in the premise of like, oh, we'll give you a discount on a sandwich. [2327.02] Tony: I think we should light up, highlight Mikey Dred's last comment. [2333.26] AndyRC: That one. [2334.54] AndyRC: What's that? [2336.06] AndyRC: It's Andy's. [2337.18] AndyRC: I've officially spent over 50,000 pound per. [2343.18] AndyRC: That number's probably about right, I would say. [2347.66] AndyRC: Over the course of 31 years. [2352.29] AndyRC: But I did spend half of that in one year. [2356.13] AndyRC: I know that for sure. [2358.37] AndyRC: Wow. [2359.57] Tony: Bloody hell. [2360.37] Tony: Is that including a Type R? [2363.89] AndyRC: Type R? [2364.85] AndyRC: No. [2365.97] AndyRC: Oh my God. [2368.66] AndyRC: That's why I live in a one bedroom thing. [2371.86] Curry: Did each plane come with like hookers and blow as well or something? [2375.3] Curry: What's going on there? [2376.74] AndyRC: Do you know what? [2377.7] AndyRC: Do you know what? [2378.34] AndyRC: Right. [2379.06] AndyRC: I just, I just want, I was really, I really got into FPV and it just really excited me. [2387.78] AndyRC: And I was just like, and I had to go off sick from work because [2393.46] AndyRC: it was a stressful job in the first place. [2395.62] AndyRC: What are you laughing at, Andy? [2399.25] AndyRC: Oh, should I stop talking? [2403.17] Frank: I'm just surprised or kind of find it amusing that you got so addicted to FPV that you [2411.97] Frank: like pulled a sickie. [2415.33] AndyRC: No, that's not what I'm saying. [2417.25] AndyRC: I'm saying I got, from when my friend died and the stress is on top of what my job was doing, [2426.93] AndyRC: I didn't sleep for three months and I had to be signed off sick from work. [2434.05] AndyRC: And in that time is when I started the channel and I just, I got savings and I spent them all [2442.69] AndyRC: on, so, and I kind of find it funny today because people approach me and say, [2449.73] AndyRC: uh, how do you get free stuff? [2453.09] AndyRC: And I said, uh, what, you think I do this to get free stuff? [2459.17] AndyRC: I was like, it still hasn't paid me back for how much I spent to get it going in the first place. [2464.93] AndyRC: And they're like, what? [2466.53] AndyRC: People just want free stuff. [2467.89] AndyRC: And I'm like, that's, uh, yeah, actually the reason I've got like so many followers is just [2474.37] AndyRC: because I spent a load of money, um, not expecting to get anything back from it. [2482.05] AndyRC: And it just so happens that if you, if you do spend money, you can make a little bit of money back. [2490.37] AndyRC: Still haven't made it all back though. [2493.57] AndyRC: But, uh, um, yeah, that, that was interesting. [2497.81] AndyRC: People coming to me, how do I get free stuff? [2500.45] AndyRC: And I'm like, uh, well spend, you know, 50 grand and then you'll get some free stuff. [2508.77] Curry: Being interrupted by Sophie. [2510.13] Tony: There you go. [2513.73] Tony: She's using. [2515.09] AndyRC: That's quite a lot. [2517.65] AndyRC: Five hours a day less than smoking cigarettes. [2520.53] AndyRC: Well, there you go. [2522.61] Frank: No. [2523.17] Frank: All right, go away then. [2524.69] Frank: I'd like to know how much you have left of all the stuff that you've bought. [2529.25] Frank: How much have you kept? [2530.21] Frank: How much, and what do you think the proportion is of like? [2534.85] AndyRC: How much do you have left of the 50k? [2540.05] Curry: You spent of that. [2542.45] Curry: Do you still have it all? [2544.61] AndyRC: Um, no, because, um, it just. [2549.33] Curry: You said you bought and sold a load of DGI gear, didn't you? [2552.69] Curry: So that I guess is gone. [2555.25] AndyRC: No, that, that was, that, that was the next year. [2562.05] AndyRC: The first year was spent on making a lot of mistakes. [2566.29] AndyRC: Really getting into it. [2569.73] AndyRC: And I wasn't doing it like, you know, I was learning for the first year, [2575.73] AndyRC: but I would just, you know, thumbs down if you don't love this. [2582.21] AndyRC: What people not liking it, or is that. [2585.89] Frank: I've been highlighting lots of people saying, give this a like. [2588.77] Frank: So there's some, some sound if you don't like it. [2592.13] Tony: I like Richard Warwick's little thumbs up. [2595.09] Tony: That might make Andy feel better. [2597.89] AndyRC: Andy helped save me a fortune. [2599.57] AndyRC: Thanks. [2600.13] AndyRC: Yeah. [2600.37] AndyRC: Well, that's what it ended up being. [2602.13] AndyRC: I mean, the YouTube thing started off as a thing to, it was a de-stressor, you know? [2609.01] AndyRC: And I think it is for many people. [2611.57] AndyRC: It's, it's the way to earn a million from YouTubers spend two million. [2616.13] AndyRC: Yeah. [2617.65] AndyRC: Was it Richard Branson that says, how do you start an airline? [2622.13] AndyRC: It says start off with a billion and end up with a million or something like that. [2627.49] AndyRC: It's some sort of I'm butchering the quote, but yeah, that's true. [2633.01] AndyRC: No, it was never my intention to make a, like a living off it. [2637.73] AndyRC: And, you know, you really have to, [2640.93] AndyRC: if you want to make a living off it, then you kind of have to sell your soul. [2645.17] AndyRC: Really. [2646.37] AndyRC: You have to put your name on products. [2649.57] AndyRC: You have to get t-shirts and swag made up. [2654.53] AndyRC: You have to say, [2659.41] AndyRC: release a video every day. [2661.33] AndyRC: Yeah. [2661.73] AndyRC: Yeah. [2662.45] AndyRC: Daily videos. [2665.25] AndyRC: Yeah. [2665.89] AndyRC: Um, you know, live streaming and just stuff like you, and when I attempt to do all of [2675.49] AndyRC: those things, I stop enjoying it. [2678.85] AndyRC: It's like not fun. [2680.77] AndyRC: I don't like, you know, so I wonder how much fun those people who make a lot of money out [2687.73] AndyRC: of doing YouTube, if they actually find it fun, because when, when I, uh, you know, [2696.85] AndyRC: think about doing a daily video, I'm just like, I might as well work for QVC because to do a [2703.41] AndyRC: daily video, the only thing that you can really do is read out the specs, do a 30 second flight [2709.89] AndyRC: with it. [2710.53] AndyRC: And you have to realize that, um, you know, if you're doing daily videos, you're probably [2717.01] AndyRC: reviewing a quad every single day. [2720.21] AndyRC: How, how can you, um, give any useful information to a person having spent one day with a quad [2730.29] AndyRC: copter when that could be somebody's only quad. [2734.61] AndyRC: So for me, it's like, you know, it's, I think, I think it's, I mean, you know, up to them. [2741.97] AndyRC: If that's what, if that's what you're into them. [2744.53] Tony: So there's one, um, uh, what was another one I saw? [2750.77] AndyRC: I think Josh's skillset is different. Josh is a, um, it's more of a tutorial educator [2759.17] AndyRC: with beta flight. [2760.45] Curry: And, um, yeah, although Josh is very much focused on, on making his money, isn't he? [2765.73] Curry: He's got a very strict regime about his video. [2768.93] Tony: I make you feel better that build a cheap quad. [2772.61] Tony: I feel there's saved me from putting screws from my windings in my 450 bill. [2776.77] Tony: Thanks, Andy. [2777.49] Tony: There's lots of things coming in. [2779.17] Tony: So yeah, I want to get back to that. [2781.49] AndyRC: And funny enough, I'm, um, I'm doing a few tutorials, um, because lately in the UK, we've [2789.81] AndyRC: had storm after storm. [2791.49] AndyRC: How many have we had now? [2792.61] AndyRC: Is it three and a while? [2793.97] Tony: We got another one coming this weekend, apparently now. [2796.69] AndyRC: So that's every single weekend. [2799.73] Frank: It's especially entertaining because it's lovely weather. [2805.25] Frank: It's going to be like 20 degrees and sunny and not rainy and not windy. [2811.81] AndyRC: Yeah. [2812.13] AndyRC: Andy, what your takeoff could end up on big jet TV, mate. [2819.65] Frank: Yeah. [2820.53] Frank: I can just wave at you on the YouTube stream. [2826.05] Tony: What, what one you're going up in? [2829.17] Frank: Yeah, I'll work it out. [2830.69] Frank: Um, but the better because the storm you're all going to be stuck with this weekend is [2838.93] Frank: storm Jorge. [2840.45] Frank: So it was named by the Spanish meteorological, um, [2846.29] Frank: yeah, or whatever it was. [2847.57] Frank: So, uh, yeah, you get a Spanish storm. [2850.13] Curry: Well, is this an FPV holiday you're doing? [2853.25] Curry: Did we get that right? [2854.53] Curry: What are you taking with you? [2856.21] Frank: Uh, well, Taro is 79 and, uh, UK 65 not taking. [2863.09] Tony: Can't invite the hand up. [2869.55] Frank: Friends list. [2870.91] Frank: You need, you need to come and fly up one word scrubs more and then you get an invite. [2875.95] Frank: Well, I don't even get invites are there. [2878.35] Frank: Right. [2878.75] Frank: It's open. [2879.87] Frank: You can come off any time. [2882.03] Tony: Bollocks. [2882.59] Tony: I'm not coming. [2884.03] Tony: No, I hope you enjoy yourself. [2887.07] Tony: You came from, uh, with Fraser for the chat, aren't you? [2890.35] Tony: I am. [2890.99] Tony: I am. [2892.11] Tony: Are you going to do any vlogging or any things that we can walk? [2897.95] AndyRC: But I don't know. [2900.03] AndyRC: I might take the fun out of it for you, Andy. [2903.71] AndyRC: Just enjoy the moment, man. [2905.63] AndyRC: I'd say exactly. [2907.07] Frank: Exactly. [2908.03] AndyRC: That's, that's what I, that's what I tend to do. [2910.83] AndyRC: Or, or if like, you know, if I've done a nice flight somewhere with a GoPro, [2916.19] AndyRC: maybe I'll stick an edit up of that. [2918.59] AndyRC: But, you know, I think when you go on holiday, you know, you want, you don't want any pressure. [2925.47] AndyRC: It's not a holiday. [2926.75] AndyRC: If you're working to try and make a video, really, I don't think anyways, you know, [2931.87] AndyRC: so if I was to go on an FPV holiday, it'd be right. [2934.51] AndyRC: No cameras. [2935.47] Curry: Anyway, before Frank leaves the country on a completely unrelated subject, [2944.19] Curry: I need free vocal samples from him before he leaves [2948.35] Curry: for something that could be coming out based around LDO. [2951.39] Frank: You've got approximately 10 minutes after the show. [2955.55] Curry: Get on with it then. [2957.31] AndyRC: Right. [2958.27] AndyRC: So what, what I was saying is because of these storms, storm after storm, [2966.27] AndyRC: I've been flying a lot of tiny whoops, whether it be in the indoor sports hall or in the house, [2973.07] AndyRC: the, the Mobula 6, the Meteor 65, and something that has always annoyed me is battery management [2985.23] AndyRC: with these things. [2986.83] AndyRC: One S lipos in particular and storage charging them. [2992.03] AndyRC: There are no dedicated tiny wood storage chargers. [2997.79] AndyRC: And even so tiny wood sells a discharger, but it takes two and two hours, [3006.43] AndyRC: 10 minutes to storage charge from fully charged a 300 milliamp one S lipo. [3015.15] AndyRC: Yeah. [3015.47] Curry: And I've got to leave it out for three hours and they'd probably drop that much voltage, [3019.23] Curry: wouldn't it? [3019.95] AndyRC: And I I've got these, which are lipo killers. [3024.27] AndyRC: However, they're also a discharger. [3027.31] AndyRC: This will discharge a one S lipo in a 300 milliamp in about 40 minutes to an hour. [3037.79] AndyRC: Easiest way to discharge is go out and bloody fly. [3041.23] AndyRC: Yeah. [3041.55] AndyRC: But what if you've charged like, you know, if you go to a tiny WOOP event, [3048.43] AndyRC: I mean, maybe charge your lipos there, but you don't really want to fast charge a tiny [3054.35] AndyRC: WOOP lipo if you can help it because, you know, they don't last. [3059.71] AndyRC: Anyways, what I'm getting at is I found a way to storage charge one S lipos, six of them, [3068.27] AndyRC: six at a time, storage charge in three minutes. [3072.27] AndyRC: So that's going to be a video that's coming up. [3074.11] AndyRC: Cool. [3075.07] Tony: Tribal FPV. [3076.35] Tony: Can we hold on like that? [3080.11] Frank: Yeah, that one. [3081.71] Tony: What do you reckon we should do something like that? [3084.91] Curry: That's not what I was getting at, but we have some stuff. [3087.55] Tony: We could do something like that, but we've got something. [3091.79] Frank: I think we started collecting some samples for that like a couple of years. [3096.43] Curry: We've got Tony saying he's gay on rap. [3100.11] Curry: That's a good one when you turn your radio on, as Tony found out when he went to try and [3103.87] Curry: get some proper work and turn his radio on. [3106.03] Tony: Oh my God, that's so embarrassing. [3109.71] Tony: Yeah, commercial work and turn the turn on trying this on and that shouts very loudly. [3117.31] Curry: Clive's just saying his wife hates the amber sound pack. [3119.47] Curry: Is that the one where your radio sounds like it's coming on to you? [3123.07] Curry: It's like, welcome to OpenTX. [3127.07] Curry: You could do anything to me. [3128.59] Curry: Just wiggle my sticks, that sort of thing, isn't it? [3132.19] Tony: I think we could do an LDO. [3134.59] Tony: Maybe we should put something together and put that in a thing that the patrons can have. [3141.47] Tony: An LDO sound pack. [3142.83] Tony: We could do that. [3143.79] Tony: Yeah, that'd be cool. [3144.91] Tony: Can we give a bit more of a teaser of what you may have done or doing? [3150.75] Tony: Can you get it on the screen or is it too early? [3154.51] AndyRC: Hang on. [3157.31] Curry: We're doing a stupid game because I was taking the day off doing my sim and produced a stupid game. [3164.19] Tony: Welcome to Jack's talk. [3167.31] Tony: When you turn the try and this on, we could actually do some stuff like this. [3174.35] Frank: A disclaimer is the welcome message. [3176.67] Tony: Yeah. [3179.79] Tony: This is something we should actually talk about after the show, [3182.51] Tony: but not to listen tonight because I'm busy. [3187.23] Curry: Hang on. [3187.87] Curry: Where's my screen? [3192.54] Tony: Brighton to our finances. [3194.14] Tony: I don't think Tony realizes how many sounds there are on the OpenTX. [3199.02] Tony: You know, we can do our own sounds and patrons only can have them. [3206.7] Tony: Could be good. [3207.74] Frank: Could be a good idea. [3209.18] Frank: It's been busy recently, Kerry, haven't you, with all the other stuff? [3212.54] Frank: Because you also created a hidden little LDO shop that looks like. [3219.02] Curry: Yes, I got fed up with you guys and your bloody old-fashioned way of producing t-shirts, [3225.1] Curry: which is basically someone gets a lot of t-shirts and Jack screen prints them [3230.94] Curry: and then Tony takes them and wraps them up. [3232.7] Curry: And then Jack draws pictures of penises on the wrapping and then sends them out to people. [3239.18] Curry: And let's just get an online store, which I've quickly knocked on up. [3244.14] Curry: And I just did want to have a quick talk with you guys about it at some point about [3249.58] Curry: designs and stuff. [3250.38] Curry: But Jack said, don't talk to them because they won't make a decision between just [3255.02] Curry: get on and do it and then do it later. [3257.26] Frank: We will. [3257.74] Frank: Very wise. [3260.62] Frank: The other thing to mention, again, very early, haven't worked out details of this yet, [3267.5] Frank: but it's looking more and more likely that we will be doing LDO no as an event in August. [3277.82] Frank: So we potentially have a spot that we can either camp in or something is flying at least. [3288.06] Frank: So it could be a weekend thing. [3290.3] Frank: Potentially need to work out the details. [3293.02] Frank: But yeah, if you're interested in coming along to an LDO event where we're just going to be [3299.98] Frank: flying loads of stuff, then keep the 22nd and 23rd of August free. [3308.78] AndyRC: Can we make sure that it is equidistant two hours for everybody, please? [3314.46] Frank: It is roughly. [3320.22] AndyRC: It's definitely not good enough for me. [3324.22] AndyRC: Although that's my birthday, so you're going to have to buy me some birthday presents [3328.46] AndyRC: or you could give me 50 grand. [3329.98] AndyRC: That would help a lot. [3330.86] AndyRC: Well, we could just give you the bumps. [3337.02] Curry: There is a quick teaser. [3339.02] Curry: Can we get audio? [3342.86] Curry: Only some of us got audio at the moment. [3346.06] Curry: I love Jack. [3347.58] AndyRC: Oh, you are so talented. [3352.46] AndyRC: It's unbelievable. [3353.66] AndyRC: This is amazing. [3354.62] Curry: Essentially, because I was a bit bored of making sim, I decided to make an LDO asteroids game [3359.66] Curry: as something different to do. [3361.9] Curry: And it's got our heads in, but we haven't got all the voices in. [3365.1] Curry: So certain people owe me voices. [3367.58] Curry: When you shoot people, they will. [3369.82] Curry: I'm done. [3371.26] Curry: Make little things. [3372.06] Curry: Tony's done. [3372.78] Curry: I'm done. [3373.5] Curry: Andy's Andy. [3374.46] Curry: I'll see is done. [3375.5] Curry: Frank's not done. [3376.62] Curry: Jack's not done, and N.J.'s not done. [3378.86] Curry: Just not committed. [3381.82] Curry: We can release this for all you guys to cock about with if you want to. [3385.42] Curry: Basically, shoot is in the face, which I'm sure everyone's been wanting to do for a long old time. [3390.06] AndyRC: I bet people shoot me in the face way more than anyone else. [3395.82] AndyRC: I deserve it, probably. [3398.54] AndyRC: Yeah, so is this going out to everybody or just Patreons this game? [3403.82] Curry: Yeah, I suggested it should go to everybody, [3406.06] Curry: because it works as stealth advertising, just in case people pass it around. [3409.98] AndyRC: Yeah, good idea. [3411.66] Curry: And we've got it working on Android phones, and it will work on Windows and Linux and Mac OS. [3418.86] AndyRC: You know what would be kind of funny if we got people like Josh [3423.02] AndyRC: and UAV Futures up for being in it. [3425.9] AndyRC: Because people are... [3426.86] AndyRC: I'm pretty sure if one of us... [3429.66] Curry: There'd be up for it. [3430.86] Curry: For as much as they... [3432.3] Curry: The space of the penis or a crusty sock, geez. [3436.86] AndyRC: Yeah, a crusty sock just comes along, which I have to dodge all of a sudden. [3441.1] AndyRC: It's not a big bossy, it's the boss level, yeah. [3443.9] AndyRC: Yeah, Payless 360 to be the big boss level. [3446.7] Tony: That's it. [3447.5] Tony: Maybe we should think about this a little bit more, [3449.9] Tony: but it's cool. [3451.26] Tony: I played it on my phone, and it was fun. [3453.74] Curry: I was sitting on the bottom. [3456.14] Curry: We're releasing the simple cock about one. [3457.9] Curry: We can always come back to it and miss about. [3460.3] AndyRC: Wayne, I wanted to ask you, how's this sim coming along? [3465.1] AndyRC: Because I want to do a video on it, [3468.78] AndyRC: but I want it to be at a point where you're like, [3473.42] AndyRC: yeah, it's a useful tool at this point, [3477.98] AndyRC: and it's not sort of still in the pre-alpha sort of stages. [3483.18] Curry: It's very much still in alpha. [3485.1] Curry: I was messing around today trying to add, [3487.74] Curry: because I like to do a serious feature, [3490.3] Curry: followed by a fun feature. [3491.5] Curry: So last time's serious feature was try and make radios work [3495.1] Curry: and get radio debugging. [3496.62] Curry: That seems to have sorted most of it out. [3500.14] Curry: An interesting conversation, actually. [3501.42] Curry: I talked to Lee Payless this week, [3505.1] Curry: who was helping me get it working on the Tango 2, [3507.82] Curry: which for some really weird reason, [3510.94] Curry: you needed to just go into this little Windows thing [3513.18] Curry: to say set up joystick, and then it automatically appears, [3515.42] Curry: and that's it, which I just couldn't work out. [3517.9] Curry: But yeah, just today I was trying to add planes in [3522.22] Curry: to chase planes around. [3523.9] Curry: My plane looks like it's being right now flown by a guy [3527.82] Curry: who's put a load of tail weight in. [3529.34] Curry: It's going up, and it's stalling. [3530.86] Curry: It's falling over all over the place. [3532.62] Curry: So there's lots to do. [3534.7] AndyRC: Planes do do that, especially when you fly with a 1985 transmitter. [3540.7] Curry: Yeah, I kind of wanted it to be a little bit more chaseable [3544.78] Curry: than just like this plane's gone mad and falling out this guy. [3547.9] Curry: So that's doing, and yeah, I've still got a bunch of key features [3552.62] Curry: I want to do before I'd say it's proper like beta now. [3557.18] AndyRC: And then I want to do a good video on it [3559.18] AndyRC: because I think it's really cool what you're doing, [3564.78] AndyRC: and people are going to love it, and it's going to be really useful. [3570.38] AndyRC: And at a time when we are maybe losing people to the hobby, [3574.7] AndyRC: I think a free simulator where you don't have to spend [3580.38] AndyRC: hardly any money, and you don't have to register or anything, [3583.66] AndyRC: but you can get a taste of it for free is just what we need at the moment. [3590.46] AndyRC: So yeah, looking forward to that. [3593.1] Tony: When can we get the LDO asteroids in a good way? [3599.02] Curry: When free people give you free lots of samples, right? [3602.38] Tony: Who should we shout out then? [3604.3] Tony: Who needs to shout it out in the chat? [3605.98] Tony: In Jane and Jeff. [3607.18] Frank: Where are people going to find out about it once it is done? [3610.62] Frank: Oh, I don't know. [3611.98] Frank: We'll just shout it out on the show. [3616.06] Curry: It's on Instagram and Facebook and YouTube or whatever. [3619.74] Tony: It'll be in the next week, I should think. [3625.74] Curry: This is what I've wanted, just to let everybody know. [3628.78] Curry: This took one day to develop, just basic asteroids. [3632.86] Tony: How many weeks to get people to say no to each other. [3636.06] Curry: I thought about why don't we make this? [3637.74] Curry: Because I showed two guys and I said, [3639.18] Curry: oh, I just messed about with this and put this together. [3641.1] Curry: And I said, why don't I put our faces in it [3642.78] Curry: and we can shoot them? [3644.38] Curry: Can everybody send me a face? [3646.14] Curry: Nobody did. [3647.1] Curry: So then I had to take a photo that we all had together at like MA4. [3652.14] Curry: Was it MA4 or MA5? [3653.98] Curry: Everybody out, put them in there. [3656.22] Curry: MI5, you mean. [3658.3] Curry: And then I got a couple of samples from Andy. [3664.7] Curry: Andy gave me some good samples. [3665.82] Curry: Tony gave me some good samples. [3667.02] Curry: I recorded myself. [3668.46] Curry: And for the past at least four days, I've been saying, [3672.3] Curry: hey, guys, what about those samples? [3674.46] Curry: We can have this. [3675.1] Tony: Oh, Jack was online with you yesterday. [3677.34] Tony: Did he not give you any? [3678.86] Curry: He did not. [3680.46] Tony: So it's Jack and Frank and Neil. [3684.54] Tony: Yes. [3685.26] Tony: We're going to have to shout at them then. [3687.42] Tony: Shout to Frank. [3688.14] Tony: It's right there. [3688.62] AndyRC: Shout with him now. [3690.22] AndyRC: You can do it on your phone into the LDO chat. [3693.5] AndyRC: That's what I did. [3694.54] AndyRC: Do that. [3695.18] Curry: Even Tony managed it and he's completely, completely useless. [3699.42] Tony: I used the microphone and everything and sent it to Kari Kit and Vine. [3704.46] Curry: Amazing. [3705.58] Curry: Although we had to send the link to the Windows Store [3708.22] Curry: to get an app to record his voice. [3711.74] Frank: Was it? [3712.94] Frank: Well, I've got one minute and 40 seconds left to record this [3719.66] Frank: because otherwise that's me down until I'm like... [3723.9] Tony: Are you literally going on all day as soon as you put this down? [3728.54] Frank: Like, yes, basically. [3734.06] Frank: I have less than no time. [3735.9] AndyRC: In that case, Andy, thanks for coming on the show. [3742.06] AndyRC: If that is the case. [3743.5] Curry: You'd better wrap the show up so you can do that before you go then. [3748.62] AndyRC: So are you going to come on the show when you are on your holiday? [3752.78] Frank: No, I'm coming back by then. [3755.9] Frank: In the UK by the next show. [3758.06] Frank: Oh, right. [3758.54] Frank: Okay. [3759.42] Frank: Then for a few days and then doing some stuff for work. [3763.1] Frank: Don't worry. [3763.82] Frank: Anyway, thank you very much for joining us. [3766.7] Frank: We have been LDO. [3768.54] Frank: This week we have had Tony. [3772.94] Frank: We have had Curry. [3774.94] Frank: Goodbye. [3776.22] Frank: We have had Andy. [3778.22] Frank: Ta-ta. [3779.5] Frank: And you heard me and I'm disappearing off to some sunshine. [3783.02] Curry: Bye. [3783.98] Curry: Telemetry loss.
