[172.94] Frank: It's not exciting, but you know, the CAP1789, the guidance on the July rules in quotes.

[189.1] Frank: There's been an updated version of the guidance released
[193.98] Frank: yesterday, the 29th of April, and there's some minor adjustments in there.
[202.46] Frank: Mainly the biggest thing is that they're kicking it back until at least 1st of November.
[207.5] Frank: So everything stays as it is until the 1st of November.
[211.02] Frank: That's kind of the main things to take away from it.
[214.14] Frank: There is also mention of remote ID in the beginning January 2022, but
[219.98] Frank: it's very, very vague.
[225.18] Frank: It references another document, which looking at that is also pretty vague.

[649.5] Curry: In order to make a handicap, what we should make is some sort of guitar MIDI controller

[663.02] Jack: Yeah, his throttle is accumulated by how many notes he can play.

[726.3] Curry: I cannot commit to playing a massively multiplayer online role playing game

[733.18] Curry: of other games that sat on the shelf there, which I'll never finish.

[737.02] Jack: I'm having to try and not play Minecraft constantly.

[744.06] Frank: I think the solid unique selling point of Curry Sim is that it can run on my laptop,
[753.18] Frank: which is not built for running anything except for the end.

[757.98] Curry: To be fair, I'm calling it a design decision.
[760.3] Curry: It's mainly because I can't draw.
[761.98] Curry: So the graphics aren't very good.
[765.38] Curry: Hence, it will run on stuff.

[784.34] AndyRC: You know, you've got your picture of an F-R Sky transmitter and because I fly mode one,
[790.1] AndyRC: I lifted my throttle up and it started to do yours.
[793.86] AndyRC: So I just did the calibrate option and just followed it along.
[798.26] AndyRC: You have to make sure that you only put one input in.

[800.74] AndyRC: Otherwise it'll record the second.

[806.74] Frank: It did take me a couple of times to not accidentally set my pitch as the

[820.1] Frank: It kept taking that as like whatever it wants to do.
[823.3] Frank: But if I literally put it down and didn't touch it, then it was fine.

[864.74] Frank: There's a Raspberry Pi up on my windowsill just now, just out of shot with an RTL SDR,
[873.7] Frank: which I know is software defined radio, but I can't remember what the RTL stands for.
[878.58] Frank: But that's doing ADS-B reception.
[882.42] Frank: So the remote ID of the aircraft world that's apparently been sort of...
[890.66] Frank: The kind of idea of it has been...
[893.3] Frank: Which has been sort of worked on since like the 40s, late 40s.
[898.26] Frank: So it's been around for quite a while.
[902.1] Frank: But it's on 1080 megahertz, at least in EU, they're pinging out a message that says,
[913.3] Frank: this is what my location is, this is what my altitude is, this is how fast I'm going,
[919.46] Frank: what direction I'm going, all that kind of thing.
[921.62] Frank: And a squawk code, which uses some interesting design choices.
[926.26] Frank: But yeah, there's that as well.
[928.5] Frank: And then...
[930.1] Jack: Does it let people know your intentions?
[933.54] Frank: Kind of.
[936.9] Frank: But yeah, so that's being picked up on my windowsill from 100 kilometers away.

[968.9] Frank: I know you can set up a feed to feed flight radar,
[974.58] Frank: I've set up this one for feeding a kind of almost open source competitor to flight radar 24,

[982.66] AndyRC: An ADSV exchange, or is it that one?
[985.22] Frank: Exactly, ADSV exchange.
[986.98] Frank: And that's what I've been using.
[988.18] Frank: That's what this is feeding it to.
[990.42] AndyRC: So it's a way to track aircraft as almost...
[993.86] AndyRC: Is it used outside of a hobby?
[996.26] AndyRC: Is it used by the aviation world as well?
[999.62] Frank: Oh yeah, so anywhere where there's air traffic control,
[1008.58] Frank: they might have radar as well,
[1010.74] Frank: but they won't know from radar who it is,
[1014.98] Frank: or where they're going, or anything like that.
[1019.62] Frank: So by using ADSV, it kind of annotates radar and says,
[1025.94] Frank: this is who that is and what they're doing.
[1029.38] Frank: And what name you need to call if you're calling them on the radio or whatever.
[1034.9] Frank: Yes, so that's kind of...
[1037.22] Frank: And that's interesting enough related to drones.
[1041.06] Frank: That's also kind of a lot of what the remote ID is kind of being based around,
[1048.74] Frank: or at least being thought around.
[1049.86] Frank: So there was one ping that has been around for a good three, four years.
[1058.66] Frank: That is like an ADSV, a miniaturized ADSV,
[1062.02] Frank: specifically for unmanned aircraft.
[1067.86] Frank: And then there's...
[1069.22] Frank: I'm pretty sure this is what the DJI, the latest one,
[1074.26] Frank: I think the Mavica 2 might even have some ADSV.
[1078.1] Tony: That looks quite nice though,
[1079.22] Tony: but I think that's only in the US and Canada, isn't it?
[1084.18] Tony: I don't think it's in Europe.
[1085.46] Frank: But anyone paid any attention to the US stuff recently?
