[1126.9] AndyRC: He took a B2FPB 85X, flipped it upside down and then did all the intricate
[1133.14] AndyRC: taking apart of a GoPro Hero 6 and doing all the soldering, miniature soldering thing.
[1139.3] AndyRC: And B2FPB have turned around and thought, oh, we can make the quad like that.
[1144.5] AndyRC: I think the problem's gonna lie with people spending, you know, 200 quid on a Hero 6.
[1153.46] AndyRC: You can't, you can't do it with the seven.
[1156.26] AndyRC: I suppose you could and use Hypersmooth, but, uh, they're doing it to use it with
[1162.02] AndyRC: this real steady go thing, which I've never had great success with, uh, even with the eight,
[1168.58] AndyRC: which supports it natively.
[1170.74] AndyRC: I mean, but I suppose it's a personal preference.
[1172.74] AndyRC: I prefer the Hypersmooth myself.
[1176.18] AndyRC: I find Hypersmooth is always, um, reliable regardless what maneuver you do.
[1182.82] AndyRC: But if you, if you do the naked GoPro thing and then import it, it, so you got,
[1187.86] AndyRC: you got to take your GoPro, you got to get it all right.
[1191.62] AndyRC: You then have to spend 99 quid or dollars or whatever for real steady go.
[1196.74] AndyRC: You then have to go and do your shot and hope that, um, you know, the gyro didn't
[1203.06] AndyRC: bugger up or whatever, get home, put it through real steady go and hope that everything looks great.
[1209.94] AndyRC: And to me, I know, like, if all of that goes to plan, then that's great,
[1216.26] AndyRC: but it's a lot to go wrong, isn't it?
[1218.26] AndyRC: It's a lot of money as well, you know, and you can only use it on one quad.
[1224.98] AndyRC: So yeah, Beacher FPV, they said the same thing to me, but I'm like,
[1229.38] AndyRC: well, if I think if you started offering the service of, uh, or somebody started offering
[1236.26] AndyRC: the service of, uh, you know, uh, making the naked GoPros so that you don't have to,
[1243.94] AndyRC: then I think that it'd be a worthwhile thing to do.
[1247.22] AndyRC: But when you're talking about having to solder, you know, solder things to the legs of chips,
[1254.5] AndyRC: that's not for everyone, isn't it?
[1256.02] Curry: No, no, I don't want to do that.
[1258.9] Curry: If, um, if we're saying, actually, none of us really want to take apart a GoPro and do stuff
[1264.58] Curry: because it's too expensive and it's a bit fiddly, then what is the next best thing to do a GoPro?
[1270.02] Curry: So we were talking about, can you get something decent from, uh, a real steady go?
[1275.06] Curry: And Andy saying no, or they, to be fair, you haven't tried it yet, doesn't come close,
[1279.46] Curry: but what comes the closest because we've obviously got the split cameras,
[1283.46] Curry: things like the Tarsier, those sort of cameras, what is the bestest?
[1287.7] AndyRC: That's where I was going because, um, before all of this HDF BV came out,
[1295.22] AndyRC: Cadex, I mean, they're obviously focused.
[1297.94] AndyRC: I mean, they've got a new DJI camera coming out, uh, the, the Nebula,
[1302.26] AndyRC: but before that they were very focused on the Tarsier and it, and it had stabilization built
[1308.9] AndyRC: in, but it hadn't been worked out.
[1311.86] AndyRC: So there's a gyro data in there.
[1314.18] AndyRC: So I think people will take a look at how popular this, uh, this GoPro thing is.
[1321.62] AndyRC: It's whether that anyone else can get the gyro data working.
[1327.46] AndyRC: The problem is GoPro has bought real steady go, you see.
[1332.58] AndyRC: Um, so, and that's what everybody's using, uh, for, for the, for these things.
[1339.38] AndyRC: So, um, either Cadex or RunCam has to come up with their, uh, own stabilization that mimics
[1348.66] AndyRC: something similar to a hypersmooth and I have to call it something else, or, uh, they'll,
[1356.26] AndyRC: maybe it's easy to, to get it to work with real steady go.
[1360.26] AndyRC: I'm still out for a check, stripping one of my GoPros.
[1364.5] AndyRC: Yeah, I think everybody's up for somebody else doing it for them toad.
[1369.46] AndyRC: I would, if, well, I say, if I'd have the money, in fact, do you know what?
[1374.98] AndyRC: I've got a GoPro five that I would trade it, uh, for a hero six naked for this beat or FPV thing.
[1384.02] AndyRC: But it's, it, there's a group on Facebook dedicated to that.
[1388.5] AndyRC: It's called the Naked GoPro, um, group.
[1391.94] AndyRC: And, oh man, if you just watch, um, Tommy's video, the, the amount of work that's involved
[1399.62] AndyRC: in just getting it to power up.
[1403.62] Tony: I know it looks like a pain in the ass, but the results are fantastic.
[1408.66] Tony: Especially if you can fly something so small, um, in so many different places.
[1414.74] AndyRC: Do you know what, though, like it's great if you are using, if you are getting a lot of work,
[1424.18] AndyRC: which I have really been enjoying.
[1427.3] AndyRC: And I didn't think I would flying those monstrosity cine works that you introduced us to.
[1435.54] Tony: I know you've, you've been flying them like a bloody proper five inch.
[1438.82] Tony: I'd only, I have not flipped mine or rolled it or not even gone higher than my head.
[1444.74] AndyRC: Well, do you know what?
[1445.46] AndyRC: That's because you can't do it with most of them, but there are a couple, uh, if you get,
[1452.02] AndyRC: you know, there's the, the HGLRC, um, they were on that one, that one fight, in fact,
[1459.06] AndyRC: almost, I mean, obviously not quite like a five inch, um, the, uh, and the flywheel chasers,
[1465.86] AndyRC: those two really stand out when it comes to flight characteristics,
[1469.54] AndyRC: you could get so low to the grass as well.
[1472.58] AndyRC: They're just so, I like your tree top stuff.
[1476.34] AndyRC: Yeah, that was, that was, that was really fun.
[1479.38] AndyRC: And it was, it was effortless as well.
[1482.74] AndyRC: Tried to do with a five inch did not go as planned.
[1486.66] AndyRC: Those bumpers really do make a difference with that kind of thing.
[1490.1] AndyRC: So for me, I think that's good enough for me.
[1492.82] AndyRC: And if you want to take a, if you want to have an 85 millimeter one, then it's,
[1499.22] AndyRC: it's so much work unless, unless I can see maybe somebody offering a service that costs a fortune
[1506.98] AndyRC: where they sell these GoPros in the naked form.
[1512.26] AndyRC: That's the only way I can see them taken off because, uh, you know,
[1517.54] AndyRC: how many GoPros are you going to go through until you get it right?
[1520.82] Tony: You know, I've still, I still like some of the footage on the 360 go.
[1527.38] AndyRC: Yeah. I mean, it's usable for Instagram and stuff.

[1566.82] AndyRC: So all they've done is taken that and put some stabilization in.
[1570.82] AndyRC: It's very, very good and small, uh, but it's not really, I think someone stuck it on a drone
[1577.94] AndyRC: and, and they said, oh, we can make it last five minutes before it overheats and explodes.
[1583.78] AndyRC: And that's where it's at with that one.
[1586.18] Curry: Um, so in other words, the other camera manufacturers that are making high resolution
[1591.78] Curry: cameras, which are able to film very quickly and have their own GRI data,
[1595.62] Curry: need to actually develop their firmware.
[1597.62] Curry: So it does GoPro like things in terms of stabilizing the picture.
[1601.86] Curry: And then you won't have this conversation.
[1603.86] AndyRC: You know what was interesting?
[1605.38] AndyRC: Like that, that first day that we were allowed to sit on benches or, or, or, you know, not have to
[1611.46] AndyRC: keep on moving, I went out and flew on my field all day.
[1616.42] AndyRC: And, um, I did a little edit together of just flying through the trees and stuff.
[1621.94] AndyRC: And, um, someone commented and said, wow, I thought that was, uh, uh, like a Mavic until it did a dive.
[1629.7] AndyRC: And it almost does look like that.

[1634.26] AndyRC: yeah, but then you're like, you could do a dive and get, and you can get shots that, um,
[1641.3] AndyRC: you know, are Mavic esque, but then you're just like, if you didn't know about these
[1647.14] AndyRC: type of quad cop tissues, you'd be like, how on earth did it do that?
[1650.66] AndyRC: Because I can't get my Mavic to do that.

[1654.74] AndyRC: And yes, but I do think, I do think that either Cadex needs to step up or maybe even DGI, you know,
[1663.06] AndyRC: I, I, I wouldn't be surprised if DGI had taken a look at, I mean, what have, what have, uh,

[1929.79] Jack: If you only need six channels, the FRSkyG-RX6 receiver is pretty good.

[2085.39] Curry: And they've both, you know, they can go easy, like 5K.
[2089.39] Curry: Yeah, and it is because back when they came out,
[2096.11] Curry: your fail safe setting of you push it to a certain thing
[2103.79] Curry: and you press the button was kind of the thing
[2106.59] Curry: as opposed to no pulses.
[2107.87] Curry: So in your autopilot, because one of those used the vector,
[2112.35] Curry: one used the storm for return to home,
[2114.99] Curry: I'd put it in basically return to home,
[2116.75] Curry: I'd set a throttle position and then I'd set the fail safe.
[2120.03] Curry: And that's how you do it.
[2120.99] Curry: It didn't have the concept of like the no pulses
[2124.11] Curry: that Betaflight or iNav does now.
[2127.23] Curry: It's really, really awful.
[2128.19] Curry: I don't know if you can actually set it for that.
[2130.03] Curry: But yeah, lack of telemetry just meant it did go further.
[2134.43] Curry: You didn't need telemetry.
[2135.87] Curry: It's just like, yeah, it's off.
[2137.55] Curry: It gives you a nice back in those days,
[2140.59] Curry: it gave you what you wanted,
[2141.71] Curry: which was an analog zero to 3.3 volt RSSI signal.
[2149.55] Curry: So then you could tune that on your OSD
[2151.87] Curry: and it would just be lovely.
[2154.35] Curry: The complex thing about using PWM channel as RSSI
[2158.91] Curry: wasn't a thing when they came out.
[2160.51] Curry: So it's like, yeah, this is doing it perfectly.
[2162.67] Curry: A bit old fashioned, but you can get a long way
[2165.47] Curry: on 2.4 using those.
[2169.15] Curry: I'd ever put them in a quad.
[2170.83] Jack: Yeah, if you're not in the UK,
[2173.47] Jack: or you've got an old FreeSky transmitter
[2177.95] Jack: that does the D8 modes,
[2181.95] Jack: FreeSky have got some lovely D8 receivers
[2185.55] Jack: where the FRSky D8R2 is eight channel
[2191.87] Jack: and it's only like, I'd say about 25 quid
[2194.67] Jack: or something like that.
[2195.87] Jack: And it's got the sort of,
[2200.43] Jack: and you can buy the CPPM version, can't you?
[2206.11] Jack: The D8RXP or something, the white one.
[2210.75] Jack: And it gives you RSSI separate channel
[2215.55] Jack: and you've got the auxiliary things
[2217.15] Jack: for like battery and stuff.
[2219.23] Jack: But that's only if your transmitter supports D8 as well.
[2223.63] Jack: But there is some good stuff.
