[292.19] Martin Rye: filming these bloody foil boats.
[295.19] Martin Rye: So this guy, Harry, wanted sort of more of a quicker machine
[301.19] Martin Rye: with some GoPro capability.
[306.19] Martin Rye: So I started looking at this again.
[308.19] Martin Rye: He bought the DJI goggles, air unit and all the rest of it,
[313.19] Martin Rye: some work in building it all around that.
[318.19] Martin Rye: Yeah, I plugged the goggles in.
[319.19] Martin Rye: I was telling Tony last night, never seen them, even looked at them,
[323.19] Martin Rye: and I was just freaked out just at the logo,
[326.19] Martin Rye: let alone, I can't imagine what the picture's going to be like.
[329.19] Tony: Are you waiting until you've seen them blades of grass, mate?
[332.19] Martin Rye: It was like seeing the DJI logo on a basic state cinema.

[349.19] Martin Rye: Decided to put the, the FBV camera above the lens of the GoPro,
[357.19] Martin Rye: centralize that, not seen that done before.

[362.19] Tony: Quite a lot of people commented on that, actually.
[365.19] Frank: Yeah, because the GoPro's obviously got the lens off to one side,
[370.19] Frank: but you want your weight central,
[373.19] Frank: so usually the camera's pretty central.
[375.19] Frank: But then, which way have you done it?
[377.19] Frank: Have you got the camera, like the body of the camera central?
[380.19] Martin Rye: The GoPro's central and the FBV camera's above the lens

[389.19] Martin Rye: So yeah, but whether it makes any difference

[395.19] Martin Rye: Well, it's a couple of centimetres off,

[417.19] Curry: and be able to cruise around for a decent amount of time.

[437.19] Martin Rye: Yeah, it's just another frame at the end of the day,

[447.19] Martin Rye: rather than having a whole middle plate,
[449.19] Martin Rye: we've just got two, well, like a middle plate
[452.19] Martin Rye: at the front and the back.
[454.19] Martin Rye: Front plate holds the air unit.
[457.19] Martin Rye: I'm thinking about extending that rear subplate forwards
[463.19] Martin Rye: to mount the air unit at the back as well.
[467.19] Martin Rye: It all depends on the weight distribution.
[469.19] Martin Rye: You know, it's just a concept, we need to build it, fly it,

[895.19] AndyRC: because GPS rescue can't be relied upon as well as iNav.
[900.19] AndyRC: I suppose the one thing that's missing is you need a compass for iNav.
[904.19] AndyRC: Is that right? Is that why no-one's doing it?
[908.19] Curry: Well, you do need a compass,
[909.19] Curry: and normally your compass has to be away from the frame,
[912.19] Curry: so it's out on a stalk, which all looks a little bit weird and bizarre.

[1091.19] Martin Rye: It's just because it's bend, bend, bendy and unbreakable.
[1094.19] Martin Rye: Polycarbonate is used in machine guards.

[1100.19] Curry: But it's not flexible enough to get a bit of a wobble on if you get some speed for it.
[1104.19] AndyRC: There was a time when pretty much all of my quads were polycarbonate
[1107.19] AndyRC: and it was when a company called Pitnik Quads,
[1111.19] AndyRC: don't know if you've ever heard of them,
[1113.19] AndyRC: but when the Hobson H107D came out,
[1116.19] AndyRC: Pitnik Quads had a polycarbonate sort of frame that you could move everything to.
[1121.19] AndyRC: And then Alien Wii boards came out and everything was polycarbonate
[1126.19] AndyRC: because they were brushed motor.
[1127.19] AndyRC: I loved it.
[1128.19] AndyRC: I love this stuff, yeah.
[1130.19] AndyRC: Brings back good memories.
[1131.19] AndyRC: I haven't built an octocopter out of polycarbonate.
[1133.19] AndyRC: It's just so tough.
[1135.19] AndyRC: Yeah, tough for lightweight stuff, yeah.
[1138.19] AndyRC: Pitnik Quads were expensive because they got to get them from America,
[1143.19] AndyRC: but I've got them somewhere still.
[1146.19] AndyRC: Yeah, it was a big fan of that.
