[5.0] Curry: We record the show live on the Thursday night on youtube.com forward slash Let's Drone Out [10.0] Curry: and our lovely patrons help with the editing costs. [12.0] Curry: These are... [13.0] Curry: Wacky Wes [14.0] Curry: Mikey Dread [15.0] Curry: Art Faulkner [17.0] Curry: Carlos Campos [19.0] Curry: Thank you [20.0] Jack: Hello and welcome back to Let's Drone Out. [54.26] Jack: Tonight we are joined by everyone's favourite, Curry Kitten. [59.26] Jack: Hello. [60.26] Jack: Any chance of a disclaimer, mate? [62.26] Curry: Any views expressed by any guests on this show are personal and may not reflect the views of others. [67.26] Curry: Thank you. [69.26] Jack: The person that brought you the box of s***, Andrew slash Frank. [74.26] Jack: Hello. [75.26] Jack: Boo. [76.26] Jack: Boo. [78.6] Jack: The sexiest man alive, N.J. Tech. [81.6] NJ: Good evening. [82.6] NJ: Oh, sorry. [83.6] NJ: I'm glad you jumped in there because I was like, we'll get him one of these days, but he's getting quicker at it. [88.6] NJ: Hello, everyone. [89.6] NJ: Nice to see you all. [90.6] Jack: The second sexiest little Twinkie in the box, Andy R.C. [98.6] Jack: Good evening. [99.6] Jack: Very popular amongst certain communities. [104.6] Jack: What? [105.6] AndyRC: What does that mean? [108.6] AndyRC: It looks like your wife is trying to spout that community to me almost. [112.6] Jack: Curry, how are you? [114.6] Jack: My secret delved into that community. [118.6] Jack: My wife, my little person that I play hide the vegan sausage with. [124.6] Jack: Thank you, British Bonjour. [126.6] Jack: Tony. [127.6] Jack: And I'm your host, Bright Until I Fly, or one off. [132.6] Jack: I don't know. [135.6] Tony: We're all hosts on here, Jack. [138.6] Tony: Yeah. [139.6] Tony: You are the main character, though. [142.6] Tony: A character. [143.6] Tony: Yeah. [144.6] NJ: What a lovely welcoming start. [146.6] NJ: Look at all these lovely people in the chat saying lovely things. [149.6] NJ: Oh, I see that HPI wife, Rich. [152.6] NJ: Yeah. [153.6] Frank: Yeah. [154.6] Frank: Richard Warwick might be a bit disappointed, but we'll see. [158.6] Frank: You said N.J. Texan, so we're going to be talking proper quad stuff. [162.6] Frank: We can only eat five. [164.6] Frank: Yeah. [165.6] Frank: Don't pick me out if I try. [168.6] Frank: So the idea of tonight, I don't know how much we'll actually do with this. [175.6] Frank: We'll see what's actually happened. [177.6] Frank: But back in March when I wasn't on the show a lot because I was doing loads of stuff at work, [185.6] Frank: I was feeling left out and decided that I would cause trouble by sending everyone a box [191.6] Frank: of weird junk that was laying around in someone's model shop, essentially. [199.6] Frank: So I think you opened them all on the show where there was all sorts of various bits [206.6] Tony: and bits. [207.6] Tony: It was high covid time and everyone was scared and we were hoping them with face masks, bleach, [212.6] Tony: gloves. [213.6] Curry: And then my one didn't arrive for like another two days anyway. [216.6] Curry: It missed the cutoff point. [218.6] Frank: Yes. [219.6] Frank: But yeah, so that was about six months ago. [223.6] Frank: And we started with, because Weston Park had been delayed to this weekend, middle of October. [231.6] Frank: And we said, ah, well, what we'll do is we'll get everyone to build something out of it [235.6] Frank: and then bring them along to that because we'll probably all end up going to that if it's safe [239.6] Frank: to do so, which, you know, it'll be October by then. [241.6] Frank: There's ages away. [242.6] Frank: It'll all be over by Christmas. [245.6] Frank: That'll all be sorted out and we'll all run them together and see what happens. [249.6] Frank: That hasn't quite worked out, but about a few weeks ago anyway, we kind of said, oh, yeah, [261.6] Frank: we'll still kind of show them on the show what's been going on with them. [266.6] Frank: So I think there's some various levels of development with these. [276.6] Jack: Yes. [277.6] Jack: Thank you, Zero. [278.6] Tony: Thank you, Zero, for your $10 donation. [283.6] Jack: Hang on. [284.6] Jack: I like all these at once because... [287.6] Tony: That worked well last time, Jack. [289.6] Tony: Get your hair out of the way, mate. [292.6] Jack: Hey, thanks, boy. [294.6] Jack: I'm school Zero. [295.6] Jack: I'm glad you got the stickers. [297.6] Jack: What did you think of them? [298.6] Jack: Are they good? [299.6] Jack: Are you happy with them? [300.6] Jack: What have you stuck them on? [302.6] Jack: Please, boy, more. [304.6] Tony: I'm putting mine on my new toy. [307.6] Tony: Your new toy? [308.6] Tony: Which is? [309.6] Tony: I bought an Inspire. [311.6] Tony: Have you? [313.6] Tony: Yeah, I always wanted one. [315.6] Tony: Oh, totally. [316.6] Jack: I took it out of you. [317.6] Jack: Quad-related subject and it didn't have a... [320.6] Jack: Yes. [322.6] Curry: Where did you get all this money from? [324.6] Curry: Unbelievable. [325.6] Curry: So rich. [326.6] AndyRC: It drives people in that and, you know... [328.6] AndyRC: It's government. [329.6] AndyRC: Government, yeah. [332.6] AndyRC: Cheers, Boris, for my Inspire, mate. [334.6] AndyRC: Cheers. [335.6] AndyRC: Oh, God. [338.6] AndyRC: What are you doing with your Inspire? [340.6] AndyRC: What are you going to be poking that into? [343.6] AndyRC: I don't know. [344.6] Tony: I've just always wanted one and one come up [347.6] Tony: with two controllers and three batteries. [350.6] Tony: I was going to get the X5 camera, [353.6] Tony: but I was talking to Eddie, [355.6] Tony: who we've had on the show before, [357.6] Tony: and he's got a three grand Apple Mac [360.6] Tony: and he said my PC would struggle to render [364.6] Tony: and make videos, so I just whipped the X3 camera [368.6] Tony: and the little white one it came with. [370.6] Tony: It's still pretty good. [372.6] Tony: The Inspire 1 or the latest one? [374.6] Tony: It's the Inspire 1, [375.6] Tony: but it's got the Inspire 2 motors and stuff on it, [378.6] Tony: so it's kind of a bit of a mix, [382.6] Tony: but it flies all right and works all right, [385.6] Tony: and, yeah, I've got spares for it. [387.6] Tony: I've even got the gimbal plate for an X5 camera. [390.6] Tony: If the future, I want to put an X5 camera on it. [394.6] Curry: It goes slightly differently from your last idea [396.6] Curry: of putting naked GoPros on 95mm quads [400.6] Curry: and the slightly bigger city whoops. [402.6] Curry: Are you intending to fly this indoors at the next make-a-meet? [406.6] Curry: Because I can actually blow everything off the shelf this time. [409.6] Curry: I'm coming. [410.6] Tony: No, but I can put an amount of GoPro on it [414.6] Tony: for different kind of views. [416.6] Tony: You know, filming the drone, yeah. [419.6] NJ: It could probably lift quite a lot of stuff, that thing. [422.6] NJ: Yeah. [423.6] NJ: I will say something that I kind of can't talk about [429.6] NJ: as a subject just yet, [431.6] NJ: but I will on LDO talk about something very interesting [434.6] NJ: related to DJI's and airports and the likes, [440.6] NJ: but I will say, I have it on good authority, [443.6] NJ: that the, is it the Aeroscope system? [446.6] NJ: That was it, wasn't it? [447.6] NJ: Yes. [448.6] NJ: Aeroscope is very much active and working. [451.6] NJ: This is not me, by the way, we're talking about, [454.6] NJ: nor am I going to say asking for a friend [456.6] NJ: because then that sounds like a easy one. [458.6] NJ: I got all my DJI quads. [463.6] NJ: I forgot the handcuff marks really hurt. [465.6] NJ: Yeah. [468.6] NJ: I will leave it, I knew you'd go there. [473.6] NJ: I won't go into any more detail on that, [475.6] NJ: but there will be something at some point soon [477.6] NJ: where I will be talking a little bit more about that, [481.6] NJ: knowing a little bit more. [484.6] NJ: Yeah, from behind bars. [487.6] NJ: I actually sold all my DJI drones ages ago now. [493.6] NJ: I think when you were looking at getting a Mavic Air, [497.6] NJ: Andrea, I think it was, I sold mine before that. [500.6] NJ: So ever long ago, that was when I got rid of my stuff. [503.6] NJ: So I have no DJI drones, [505.6] NJ: do not start speculating that it was me, it's not. [508.6] NJ: But I do know someone that has had an experience [513.6] NJ: with the authorities and it was very revealing [518.6] NJ: and they were very forthcoming about saying that, [521.6] NJ: yes, Aeroscope is working, it does work. [524.6] NJ: And the response time, if you were to fly anything DJI [529.6] NJ: within the perimeter of or the no fly zone, [533.6] NJ: the response time is frighteningly fast. [536.6] NJ: So yes. [537.6] NJ: So what is this? [540.6] Tony: My flying field is right on the edge and it says, [545.6] Tony: do you have permission to fly here? [547.6] Tony: And I just go, yes, yes. [550.6] NJ: Yeah, well. [551.6] NJ: It's quick to visit soon. [553.6] NJ: Make sure you make sure you do. [555.6] NJ: Because that Aeroscope system, [557.6] NJ: it tells quite a lot of information. [559.6] NJ: It will have the drone serial number. [562.6] NJ: It will have a very, very good idea of where you are [567.6] NJ: and what you're up to. [568.6] NJ: And from that, they'll be able to work out who it's registered to [571.6] NJ: and all that kind of stuff. [574.6] NJ: But I do know of an incident where it was a response time [579.6] NJ: of within the perimeter of under five minutes of... [583.6] Tony: My dad broke his leg. [585.6] Tony: It took three and a half hours for bringing an ambulance to turn up. [591.6] Tony: Yet you can fly a drone in a field legally [595.6] Tony: and it will turn up in under five minutes. [597.6] Curry: But when you say legally, you're saying, [599.6] Curry: yes, I have permission to be here. [601.6] Tony: Well, it is. [603.6] Tony: This is why I already draw my stuff in text. [605.6] Tony: It's just literally on the boundary. [608.6] Tony: Well, we're all standing. [610.6] Tony: I can fly it legally. [612.6] Tony: So I said, yes. [614.6] NJ: Just be careful that... [616.6] NJ: I would say to anyone doing this with DJI stuff, [618.6] NJ: if you're in that slightly precarious position of, [621.6] NJ: I might be there. [623.6] NJ: The best thing you can do, [625.6] NJ: if that's some way that... [626.6] NJ: The best thing you can do is turn around and retreat another mile [629.6] NJ: and fly there instead. [631.6] NJ: The second best thing to do, [633.6] NJ: which is going back to the situation that I'm aware of, [637.6] NJ: is actually to write to the local ATC, [643.6] NJ: email them as we do these days, [646.6] NJ: and get in touch with them and say, [648.6] NJ: this is what I intend to do with this drone. [650.6] NJ: I want to be here. I want to do this. [652.6] NJ: And you might be quite surprised to try the response. [655.6] NJ: As I say, I've got a really big juicy story on all of this, [658.6] NJ: but I have to wait a little longer before we can talk about it. [661.6] NJ: But I'm sure you've been excited when we get to doing that. [664.6] NJ: It is a pretty cool story. [666.6] NJ: But yeah, I've got to move away then. [671.6] NJ: After this goes off live, [673.6] NJ: I'm literally going to have to retreat from our little studio [676.6] NJ: as fast as possible, [677.6] NJ: because I'm going to now get a million probings [681.6] NJ: from the LDO crew here wanting to know what that's about. [684.6] NJ: Andrew knows a bit, but yeah. [686.6] Jack: I do as well. [687.6] NJ: We'll find out soon, in due course. [690.6] Jack: Although I'm not part of the butt pirates, [695.6] Jack: do you want to talk about your Twitch, [696.6] Jack: what you've been up to flying away on your Microsoft SIM? [699.6] Jack: Oh, I get it. [702.6] NJ: Well, obviously the release of Microsoft Flight SIM, [706.6] NJ: I'm not sure how many of you have gone out and got into this [709.6] NJ: because obviously I've never seen a Flight SIM, [712.6] NJ: be it pertaining to any areas of flight, [714.6] NJ: whether it's a hobby or a digital combat simulator or Microsoft. [718.6] NJ: I've never seen anything get so big that it actually sold out the hardware [722.6] NJ: across the whole country. [723.6] NJ: No one could get a flight stick in Argos. [726.6] NJ: Wherever you wanted to go and buy flight controls, [728.6] NJ: they were sold out everywhere, [730.6] NJ: and they were actually being profiteered on things like eBay [734.6] NJ: because everyone actually went mad over the new release [738.6] NJ: of Microsoft Flight SIM. [739.6] NJ: So a lot of people have got it. [740.6] NJ: It is brilliant. [741.6] NJ: It's got a new fog roll. [742.6] NJ: Yeah, but flight sticks. [745.6] NJ: How will I survive without my T-Flight Hotels? [750.6] NJ: So yeah, I've been doing a lot of flying in that, [753.6] NJ: which has been brilliant fun. [757.6] NJ: Yeah, I've been doing an awful lot of that, [759.6] NJ: but I have got a Twitch where I do most of that, [762.6] NJ: and it's a bit of a weird name. [764.6] NJ: I'll put it in the chat if anyone wants to drop me a sub. [767.6] NJ: I'd be very grateful to come and watch me fly around with it. [771.6] NJ: One of my good friends is a commercial pilot who flies 777s, [776.6] NJ: although he's not doing a lot of that right now, obviously, [778.6] NJ: because there's not a lot of demand for transatlantic flight, [780.6] NJ: funnily enough. [781.6] NJ: But he's often in there with me on the flight, [785.6] NJ: so you can ask a commercial pilot some questions. [788.6] NJ: Sheldon, the drone doctor, as many of you know, [791.6] NJ: in Brighton, up the road from Jack and Tony, [794.6] NJ: he's also doing his PPL at the minute, [796.6] NJ: and he's in there too, so it's real. [799.6] NJ: Sheldon. [800.6] NJ: We have a laugh, and we mess around as well, [802.6] NJ: so I'll drop the Twitch in the chat. [804.6] NJ: Come say hello. [806.6] Jack: Even the commercial pilot flies the most erratically [811.6] Jack: and irresponsibly out of... [813.6] NJ: That's the best bit, isn't it? [815.6] NJ: Yeah. [816.6] NJ: He's the most sensible, me, [817.6] NJ: and then the commercial pilots inverted flying in front of me [820.6] NJ: in a Cessna. [822.6] Jack: He's in somewhere. [824.6] Jack: Yeah. [825.6] Jack: On a runway. [826.6] Jack: Of course. [827.6] Jack: Very amusing times, but definitely give NJ Tech a follow, [833.6] Jack: because once he gets to 50, he can get to Ophelia, [836.6] Jack: and it's quite a good watch. [837.6] Jack: It's quite late at night, something good to relax to, [840.6] Jack: and usually it's quite funny, and it's always good to... [843.6] Jack: Enough. [844.6] Jack: Yeah, it's always, always good to, like, you know, [847.6] Jack: see what you guys are getting up to, [849.6] Jack: and you learn a lot, weirdly enough. [851.6] Jack: Ian, pop it on the knowledge to NJ. [855.6] Tony: Yeah, how to fly upside down in a commercial. [858.6] Frank: Yeah. [860.6] NJ: It's often him mocking me. [862.6] NJ: I'll say, right, talk me through, you know, [865.6] NJ: the vertical speed I need, what do I need to do to get on the ILS [868.6] NJ: for a nice approach, blah, blah, blah, [870.6] NJ: and he'll say, well, what you do is you put the throttle all the way in, [873.6] NJ: and you pull back 90 degrees, and he'll just go and do some loop, [876.6] NJ: and he'll just take the mick out of me. [881.6] Jack: I have learned all the different models of aircraft [884.6] Jack: that do and don't have coffee cup holders. [888.6] Jack: That's why, man. [891.6] Jack: How of whinging about, this hasn't got a coffee cup holder, [894.6] Jack: I've been looking for it. [896.6] NJ: And which commercial plane has the best footwell heaters [899.6] NJ: was another discussion. [902.6] NJ: The stuff that you wouldn't think are important to pilots. [905.6] NJ: Yep. [906.6] NJ: Which airliner has the best coffee? [909.6] Tony: I'm just getting rid of the jumbo. [912.6] Tony: I love that plane. [913.6] NJ: It's gone already last Thursday, last flight out. [917.6] Tony: The VA got rid of theirs, Virgin got rid of theirs. [920.6] Tony: You can actually buy bits now on, I can't remember the page, [925.6] Tony: the YouTube page. [927.6] Tony: But you can buy windows, and they're about 250 quid each. [932.6] NJ: They'll break them down, take all the good bits out, [935.6] NJ: they can sell the nav systems, and blah, blah, blah, [938.6] NJ: and the rest of it will just be scavenged, basically. [940.6] NJ: But that particular one, the very last one that went out, [944.6] NJ: I think, had 59 million miles on the clock. [947.6] Tony: They never crashed. [949.6] NJ: An idea of... [952.6] NJ: Well, there has been 747 crashes, yeah. [955.6] NJ: There was. [957.6] Tony: I thought, I'll watch a documentary [960.6] Tony: when they basically said it's been flying 35 years [964.6] Tony: with no crashes. [966.6] NJ: That's entirely possible. [968.6] NJ: There's definitely been 747 crashes. [971.6] Curry: Maybe that meant that particular 747s, [974.6] Curry: which is quite typical, because after a 747 crashes, [977.6] Curry: typically it doesn't fly anymore. [979.6] NJ: Andy, are you thinking of the Tenerife one, [981.6] NJ: because that was the worst one in history. [983.6] Tony: The Tenerife one, but also the Lockerbie with the B1 in it. [987.6] Tony: Well, that one didn't really do it on its own, did it? [991.6] Tony: The Tenerife one was the worst ever crash ever, wasn't it? [996.6] NJ: Still is. [997.6] AndyRC: Was that the one into the sea? [1000.6] AndyRC: No. Sorry, go on. [1002.6] NJ: It was two that went... [1004.6] NJ: It was basically a KLM flight and a Pan Am flight. [1009.6] NJ: One was on the runway, getting ready to take off [1011.6] NJ: and very low visibility. [1012.6] NJ: The other one was coming into land. [1015.6] NJ: There was some confusion. [1017.6] NJ: I think someone pressed the radio combat [1019.6] NJ: and talked over another person [1021.6] NJ: in what is essentially a two-way communication back then. [1026.6] NJ: A pilot who should have waited [1028.6] NJ: just started this take-off role [1030.6] NJ: and the other plane was coming in. [1032.6] Tony: So a human error got the plane... [1035.6] NJ: Nearly always this human error. [1037.6] Tony: I was talking about plane design or whatever, [1040.6] Tony: because I know that one of them, [1042.6] Tony: one of them flew a Virgin plane, flew over a volcano [1045.6] Tony: and literally all four engines had to be shut down [1049.6] Tony: and they restarted each one and flew home. [1053.6] NJ: Yeah, basically, it's essentially what's happening there [1056.6] NJ: is it's turning into glass inside the engine [1059.6] NJ: and then when you get to a lower altitude, [1061.6] NJ: when it cools enough, it will shatter and fall off [1063.6] NJ: and that's how they managed to relight them all. [1066.6] NJ: But yeah, the volcanic ashes is generally bad news [1069.6] NJ: to fly over, try and avoid. [1072.6] Peter: Yeah, if not failed mechanically. [1076.6] Peter: The editor would like to note that there have been at least [1078.6] Peter: two 747 crashes with mechanical or electrical failure [1081.6] Peter: on the list of causes. [1082.6] Peter: On October 4th 1992, LL flight 1862 crashed into a residential area [1087.6] Peter: shortly after take-off from Amsterdam Schippel Airport. [1090.6] Peter: The two right side engines fell off due to metal fatigue [1092.6] Peter: damaging the right wing. [1093.6] Peter: The crash killed all three crew members [1095.6] Peter: and the single passenger on board [1096.6] Peter: as well as 39 people on the ground. [1098.6] Peter: On July 17th 1996, TWA flight 800 was bound [1102.6] Peter: for Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris [1104.6] Peter: but exploded during its initial climb [1106.6] Peter: from John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York. [1108.6] Peter: A short circuit was caused when aging wire insulation failed [1111.6] Peter: sending high-voltage current into the centre fuel tank. [1114.6] Peter: All 230 people on board were killed. [1116.6] Peter: The planned programming will now continue. [1118.6] Peter: How many miles? [1119.6] Tony: How many miles is that 747? [1122.6] NJ: I think it was 59, there was two that left at the same time [1125.6] NJ: for the final flight out. [1126.6] NJ: One was 59 million, the other one was 39 million I think. [1130.6] Tony: But over what, 30 years or 35 years? [1133.6] Tony: What was it? [1134.6] NJ: Yeah, a lot of them are built in the 70s. [1136.6] NJ: They've got overhauls. [1138.6] Tony: Yeah, they have big overhauls. [1140.6] NJ: So it's not like it was built [1142.6] NJ: and it's just done that all in a row. [1144.6] NJ: They have a lot of revisions. [1146.6] NJ: But these planes are like a fine wine. [1149.6] NJ: They get better and better with age. [1151.6] Tony: Yeah, I mean, they're still going to fly them, you know, [1156.6] Tony: parrot and freight and stuff. [1159.6] Tony: They're flying them in America. [1161.6] AndyRC: A lot of the Virgin ones were leased [1164.6] AndyRC: and they have gone back to America to be repainted. [1167.6] AndyRC: So I think it's just because it's a small fleet [1170.6] AndyRC: in the UK compared to America. [1174.6] Tony: Such a lovely plane. [1175.6] Tony: I always want to go on one and never ended up on one. [1179.6] Tony: But never mind. [1180.6] Tony: I love it in the 380 at the moment. [1183.6] Tony: That's not very good at freight carrying. [1185.6] Tony: Yeah, that one's good as well. [1187.6] Tony: I know, I know. [1189.6] Tony: All the big bloody, all the efficiencies [1193.6] Tony: down to these longer planes with bigger engines. [1197.6] AndyRC: And, you know, A350 can do double the range. [1203.6] AndyRC: No, sorry. [1204.6] AndyRC: It's 50% more efficient than the 747 or something like that. [1210.6] Tony: It's a twin engine with a big engine. [1212.6] Tony: It's like a little bit scarier, [1215.6] Tony: only having less redundancy. [1218.6] NJ: The whole reason that that kind of came to existence [1221.6] NJ: is basically to do with moving transatlantic. [1225.6] NJ: And initially, two engines wasn't enough to qualify as safe, [1229.6] NJ: which is why you then had things like the Tristar come along, [1232.6] NJ: which they just stuck an engine on the tail. [1235.6] NJ: And then the 747 came along and then eventually, [1238.6] NJ: later, once you found out the kind of odds [1240.6] NJ: of losing both engines are quite insane, [1243.6] NJ: they actually went back to saying twins fine. [1245.6] NJ: And the twins are the most efficient, like the 777. [1249.6] NJ: So even the biggest of planes moving forward [1252.6] NJ: will be a twin engine design, [1255.6] NJ: because cheap fares is what rules the aviation industry now. [1260.6] Frank: But what's done for the A380 and the 747 [1263.6] Frank: is the death of the hub and spoke model, right? [1265.6] Frank: As the engine jets have got longer and longer range, [1269.6] Frank: now that they can fly from London to Australia, [1272.6] Frank: it's, you know, why would you need to have a hub in Germany [1277.6] Frank: and a hub in Dubai and a hub somewhere else [1279.6] Frank: to be able to get there? [1280.6] NJ: Absolutely. And it's been done as well. [1282.6] NJ: Interestingly, the actual trend in jet design [1285.6] NJ: or turbine design now is actually very high bypass air. [1288.6] NJ: So the air that goes around the actual jet engine itself, [1291.6] NJ: that's why these engines are getting so much bigger. [1293.6] NJ: You've got your main turbine in the middle [1295.6] NJ: and then the big fan at the top, [1297.6] NJ: pump some of that into the turbine to keep it lit and spinning. [1300.6] NJ: And then a large section of that outside of the turbine, [1303.6] NJ: but inside of the cowling is what's called the bypass air. [1306.6] NJ: That bit is getting bigger, [1309.6] NJ: which means, yeah, they're getting super efficient, [1312.6] NJ: high bypass, like the big general electrics [1315.6] NJ: that are in the latest version of the 777, [1318.6] NJ: which is the X model. [1320.6] NJ: Again, even more bypass and even more efficient, [1324.6] NJ: so, and quieter. [1327.6] NJ: So, yeah, interesting. [1329.6] AndyRC: The bigger engines make them very tricky to land [1334.6] AndyRC: because of the aerodynamics at slow speeds. [1338.6] AndyRC: Yeah, anyways. [1340.6] NJ: That's why the wings are so clever [1342.6] NJ: and they adapt so many different shapes, [1344.6] NJ: just for exactly that kind of stuff. [1346.6] Tony: Aren't the carbon fiber wings made in the UK as well? [1351.6] NJ: I heard. [1352.6] NJ: All the parts of all these planes [1354.6] NJ: are all made in different parts of the world [1357.6] NJ: and assembled in, I think, France, some of them. [1360.6] Tony: Yeah, I think the UK make the carbon wings [1363.6] Tony: on the 777s and the... [1365.6] Tony: Oh, nice. [1367.6] Jack: Yeah, enjoy. [1368.6] Jack: How's your penis? [1371.6] Tony: And he brings it back down. [1373.6] Tony: There we go. [1375.6] Tony: He's going well. [1376.6] Tony: It wasn't trying, but it was still flying. [1379.6] Frank: Look at that. [1382.6] Tony: Just like that. [1384.6] Frank: So, Jack, I hear that you've done something [1387.6] Frank: with the stuff in the junk box, right? [1390.6] Frank: Yes. [1392.6] Frank: Would you like to present it to everybody? [1394.6] Tony: Well, that's how he was getting on the thing. [1396.6] Frank: Oh, I'd be afraid to touch it [1398.6] Frank: in case it's a bit all off. [1401.6] Frank: Hang on. [1402.6] Frank: That would be more on brand for LDO, I think. [1406.6] AndyRC: Back in the gut, don't you? [1408.6] Jack: Close up. [1409.6] Jack: I saw how many wheels we had in the box. [1414.6] Jack: So, I built something with wheels. [1417.6] Jack: This hasn't had its marking tape removed. [1421.6] Jack: It's the first time I've ever painted a... [1428.6] Jack: Fairly. [1431.2] Jack: ...painted my best model. [1433.2] Jack: That was quite interesting. [1435.2] Jack: So much so, I got my friend to do it. [1438.2] Jack: But, yes, I've built a mini-ginny, [1440.2] Jack: and the whole idea of it is it's got a hatch [1443.2] Jack: in the back of it, and I can fill it up [1446.2] Jack: with the crap that was in the box of crap [1449.2] Jack: and then drop it into a bin. [1453.2] Curry: You had much more in your box than mine. [1455.2] Curry: I didn't have any foam in those two nice motors, [1458.2] Curry: and I expect there's a speed controller [1460.2] Curry: and all sorts in there, isn't there? [1462.2] Curry: Yeah, it's a bit weird to get on. [1465.2] Tony: Oh, I don't know. [1466.2] Tony: Why custard all British to the coast of your life? [1469.2] Frank: I've got to say, the mini-ginny, [1471.2] Frank: for anyone who doesn't know, [1473.2] Frank: is the twin motor, cargo, [1476.2] Frank: flight test, foam board, [1479.2] Frank: cargo plane with the rear door [1482.2] Frank: that dumps stuff out. [1483.2] Frank: And Jack's built it, [1485.2] Frank: and spray-painted it. [1488.2] Frank: Yeah, kind of rhubarb and custard yellow. [1491.2] Frank: Can I say something here? [1493.2] NJ: Sorry, Jack, if you can hold that [1495.2] NJ: just so it's straight and level in front of the camera. [1498.2] NJ: That's it. [1499.2] NJ: I've got to say, if you were to remove [1501.2] NJ: the wings and the tail [1502.2] NJ: and write Trotter's Independent Traders on Trotter, [1505.2] NJ: it's exactly the right yellow. [1508.2] Tony: It's exactly the right yellow. [1510.2] Tony: It also looks suspiciously the same colour [1512.2] Tony: as double yellow lines, Jack. [1514.2] NJ: And I'm just wondering where you saw the pump, [1516.2] AndyRC: John, carry on. [1518.2] AndyRC: And the three wheels, look. [1520.2] AndyRC: Hello, yeah. [1522.2] AndyRC: I would say servos are the same, [1525.2] AndyRC: but thank you, Frank. [1527.2] Jack: And, you know, [1529.2] Jack: I think it's a good idea, [1531.2] Jack: because servos are the same, [1533.2] Jack: but thank you, Frank. [1535.2] Jack: And I couldn't actually fit the 22 motors in here. [1542.2] Jack: So I had to get some... [1545.2] Frank: You could have made it a trimotor [1547.2] Frank: and stuck the big one on the middle, [1549.2] Frank: or on the tail, like... [1550.2] Frank: Tri-style. [1551.2] Jack: Tri-style, yeah. [1552.2] Jack: Well, that's what I was kind of thinking. [1554.2] Frank: Maybe we could put... [1556.2] Frank: A pusher. [1558.2] Jack: The 18U, right? [1560.2] Jack: Eat the... [1562.2] Jack: I don't know. [1563.2] Jack: I might make a small little box and cut it out. [1566.2] Jack: But, yeah, so that's the whole idea. [1568.2] Jack: And then I've got a... [1569.2] Jack: I don't know whether anyone feels kind enough [1571.2] Jack: to give me an extra servo from their box. [1575.2] Jack: So that I can start that out. [1578.2] Jack: Yeah. [1579.2] NJ: Fraser's asking, does it actually fly? [1582.2] NJ: Well, I think he just proved it. [1583.2] NJ: That was it. [1584.2] NJ: That was amazing. [1585.2] NJ: That was it, yeah. [1587.2] NJ: I've got to say, Jack, [1588.2] NJ: that's pretty awesome, actually. [1589.2] NJ: I think you've smashed it there. [1590.2] NJ: That looks like it's going to properly fly in everything. [1594.2] Frank: So, yeah, um... [1597.2] Frank: Regardless, I'm signed in there. [1600.2] Frank: No wing reflex. [1601.2] Frank: No COG. [1602.2] Frank: No money back. [1603.2] Frank: No guarantee. [1607.2] Jack: I'm going to write that on there. [1609.2] Jack: I was thinking about being really f***ing getting, [1612.2] Jack: like, my pilot ID thing, [1614.2] Jack: like T-0-N-Y-1-5-G-4-Y, [1622.2] Jack: you know, and, like, put in the... [1625.2] Jack: No, don't do it. [1627.2] Jack: ...drawing some wings. [1629.2] NJ: Same with that number again. [1631.2] NJ: I'll just write that down, [1632.2] NJ: put it on the side of my trains, as well. [1633.2] AndyRC: You really don't want to angiators. [1636.2] AndyRC: It's got to do with these guys. [1640.2] Jack: So, yeah. [1641.2] Jack: But I might actually do that. [1642.2] Jack: Trotters independent. [1643.2] Jack: I don't know. [1644.2] Jack: It was... [1645.2] Jack: I don't know whether any of you were familiar with the... [1648.2] Jack: back in the day flying at Hidden Valley, [1651.2] Jack: but we got this friend called Simon, [1653.2] Jack: who's a bit of a geezer from South London, [1656.2] Jack: and he bought something called the Teleporter, [1659.2] Jack: which I've still got the plans for. [1661.2] Jack: But, um... [1663.2] Jack: Essentially, like, I painted it the same colour as that Teleporter. [1667.2] Jack: There's a video on my YouTube of me, [1672.2] Jack: he was just doing, like, a figure of eight, [1674.2] Jack: and we were just following it. [1676.2] Jack: So... [1678.2] Jack: That's about it, really. [1680.2] Jack: I successfully got a working mon eagle [1684.2] Jack: and got a refund from Mangard. [1688.2] AndyRC: That's your monitor, was it? [1691.2] Jack: My monitor's over there. [1693.2] Jack: That's the other thing I've been up to. [1695.2] Jack: But, yeah, I built... [1696.2] Jack: I'd done it. [1697.2] Jack: I built that with a friend. [1699.2] Jack: And, yeah, I had a good time. [1702.2] Jack: And, you know, I sprayed it and that. [1705.2] Jack: I've... [1706.2] Jack: Admittedly, I have got to finish it, [1707.2] Jack: but please don't shout at me for not using fully. [1711.2] Jack: But any of the wires and stuff like that [1714.2] Jack: and the wheels and everything was all scavenged from the box. [1717.2] Jack: And there's a servo from the box. [1719.2] Jack: The only thing I might do is use the servo, [1723.2] Jack: use the ESCs from... [1725.2] Jack: The leftover ESCs from the potato... [1728.2] Jack: No, the rat's nest. [1730.2] Jack: If that's all right, Frank, because they won't actually... [1735.2] Jack: Like, I nicked an ESC for the... [1742.2] Jack: Oh, what's it called? [1744.2] Jack: The Bixler. [1745.2] Jack: So I nicked a 25 amp ESC for the Bixler [1748.2] Jack: because Sheldon, but pirate 46, that NJ flies with, [1753.2] Jack: nicked my ESC. [1755.2] Jack: He stole one of my ESCs. [1761.2] Jack: So the box of crap has been very useful, [1765.2] Jack: but I don't think I'll be able to fit this. [1769.2] Jack: I should have really built an ordinary size guinea, really, [1773.2] Jack: but I'll be a mini guinea in the hope that once I'm done with it, [1778.2] Jack: Frank might take it and adopt it. [1784.2] Tony: Well, well done, Jack, for doing that, [1786.2] Tony: because everything is still in my drawers. [1789.2] Tony: But I just, I literally just got wheels and a raggy motor. [1794.2] Tony: That's what everybody got. [1796.2] AndyRC: I want to hear about Corey Kitten [1798.2] AndyRC: and his strike that you've got today, please. [1802.2] Jack: I think we should talk about Andy Aussie [1806.2] Jack: and the fact that he didn't even build his own. [1810.2] AndyRC: Look, let's not talk about that. [1812.2] AndyRC: Andy gave all his to Phil. [1815.2] AndyRC: I gave mine to my friend Phil [1818.2] AndyRC: because he'll be able to do something much more interesting with it [1821.2] AndyRC: because he got an EDF in there. [1823.2] Tony: I think you won, Jack. I don't think anyone's done. [1826.2] AndyRC: Well, Corey's been up to something, surely. [1830.2] Frank: This episode was recorded in front of a live online audience, [1833.2] Frank: downloaded and edited to make sense when it's played audio only, [1837.2] Frank: censored to please the iTunes people, [1839.2] Frank: hosted on the internet, [1840.2] Frank: forwarded through to your podcast provider, [1842.2] Frank: downloaded, playing on your device, [1844.2] Frank: and is now playing in your ears. [1846.2] Frank: All thanks to our Patreons. [1848.2] Frank: Consider joining them and you'll also get other online benefits. [1851.2] Frank: Find out more at patreon.com forward slash let's drone out. [1856.2] Curry: I like to think that I entered into the spirit of this [1860.2] Curry: much more than a certain shaggy head person up the top right of my screen there [1864.2] Curry: because what I wanted to do is use only stuff in the box if I could. [1869.2] Curry: Now, this is a problem. [1870.2] Curry: We don't understate the fact that the box is actually full of absolute. [1876.2] Curry: Now, there's lots of wheels. [1879.2] Curry: If you're short on wheels, you're sorted. [1882.2] Curry: If you want horrendous, greasy bits of lump of random metal, brilliant. [1887.2] Curry: If you want actual components that work on RC vehicles, [1890.2] Curry: you're a little bit stuffed. [1892.2] Curry: But I took the two bits of relevant stuff, [1897.2] Curry: which were some motor and a servo, [1902.2] Curry: and I built what I call the f****** door. [1907.2] Curry: What we have here... [1913.2] Tony: Now, is this what you've got to strike? [1918.2] Curry: Just to be clear, this is the actual box it came in. [1924.2] Curry: Well, unlike Jack, who cheated and used foam board, [1929.2] Curry: this is the box. [1932.2] Curry: This is the motor, and that motor mount is mounted out of cardboard. [1937.2] Curry: The best material we've got. [1939.2] Curry: This is the prop that was in the box. [1941.2] Curry: Look, it's still got the price on. [1943.2] Curry: My box was full of motor mounts. [1946.2] AndyRC: Yeah, well, the motor mounts didn't work. [1949.2] Curry: And this is the servo down here. [1951.2] Curry: So what I had... Here's all the wheels, loads of wheels. [1954.2] Curry: So what I found, I had some bits of steel. [1967.2] Curry: I couldn't even cut this, it was so hard. [1970.2] Curry: So I had to wind it round. [1972.2] Curry: You will see this is literally a piece of wound steel on a servo. [1976.2] Curry: And this is my steering front wheel. [1979.2] Curry: And it's driven by this awesome motor, which may or may not work on 3S. [1984.2] Curry: And then I found crappy ESCs and receivers. [1990.2] Tony: There you go. [1991.2] NJ: I absolutely love it. [1993.2] Tony: Did you start through it or tape it? [1996.2] Curry: Nothing is soldered. [1997.2] Curry: This is entirely held together by hot glue and tape. [2001.2] Curry: And hope. [2003.2] Curry: And hope. [2004.2] Curry: I have a video. [2005.2] Curry: What's best, YouTube video or sharing my screen? [2008.2] Curry: I can prove it works. [2010.2] NJ: Do you know what? [2011.2] NJ: What I'm worried about here is that the same thing, [2014.2] NJ: the same object that we're responsible for giving you a copyright strike on your own channel [2019.2] NJ: has now infested and infiltrated the LDO channel. [2023.2] NJ: We just post it to people that we want to demonetize. [2026.2] Curry: YouTube doesn't like it when your video title is f***ed hard. [2031.2] Curry: I said the link, didn't I? [2039.2] Curry: This has been classed as adults only or something. [2043.2] Curry: Here it is. [2044.2] Tony: Look at that. [2045.2] Tony: That's how it works. [2046.2] Frank: This is very impressive. [2048.2] Frank: For everyone listening along, [2051.2] Frank: so this is about 150, 200 mil square of just a sandwich of cardboard. [2057.2] Frank: And it's sitting on top of three great big tricycle wheels, [2063.2] Frank: so with a steerable nose wheel. [2066.2] Frank: It looks like it's got two ESCs on it, [2070.2] Frank: but I can't like that one out. [2073.2] Frank: And just got a load of electronics sitting on top of this pizza box of cardboard. [2079.2] Frank: It's amazing. [2081.2] Frank: A little mast on the back with a great big motor and prop on it. [2086.2] Frank: It's blowing itself around curry. [2090.2] Tony: I'm sorry, but curry kitten wind sounds down to it. [2094.2] Tony: Literally everything on the box has actually made something. [2100.2] Tony: It's actually pretty cool. [2102.2] Tony: You know what? [2104.2] NJ: This is brilliant. [2106.2] NJ: I really want to do one of those, [2109.2] NJ: you know those 80s overhyped toy commercials just for this thing? [2114.2] NJ: That's what I want to do. [2115.2] NJ: I want to make a commercial for this. [2118.2] Tony: You know, flip over after crying. [2126.2] Jack: You get some overexcited kids and be like, [2129.2] Jack: oh, mommy, I really want a f****** card for Christmas. [2132.2] Jack: Exactly. [2134.2] Curry: I can show you it in dangerness now. [2136.2] Curry: We've got front wheel steering. [2139.2] AndyRC: Look at that. [2140.2] AndyRC: I tell you what, you have got some turning circle on that way. [2145.2] Curry: It's got power. [2148.2] Curry: It will make mincemeat if you do things to people. [2154.2] Curry: I'm not sure if this motor is rated for 3S. [2156.2] Curry: I couldn't find any documentation, but I just plugged it in. [2159.2] Curry: It hasn't blown off. [2160.2] Curry: It's fine. [2161.2] Curry: That's brilliant. [2164.2] NJ: Well done. [2165.2] NJ: Very good. [2166.2] NJ: Thank you. [2167.2] NJ: You've made it out of the box. [2168.2] NJ: It's just genius. [2169.2] NJ: What a masterstroke. [2171.2] Curry: You have to open HD on it. [2175.2] NJ: I reckon stick a couple of wings on that. [2177.2] NJ: You see two other sides of the box and you never know. [2180.2] Curry: It might fly. [2181.2] Curry: It could happen, I suppose. [2184.2] Tony: Hi, Wacky Wes from Hong Kong. [2188.2] Tony: Hello. [2190.2] Jack: I sent you some stickers. [2192.2] Frank: FPV SE asks, when can I buy this from Banggood? [2195.2] Frank: I'm assuming this is the prototype. [2198.2] Curry: I'm sure it won't be long before they clone it and it's called it. [2201.2] Frank: Yeah, exactly. [2202.2] NJ: It'll be on the... [2204.2] Curry: Half hour? [2205.2] Curry: The E-Sheen 60 time or something. [2207.2] NJ: Half hour. [2213.2] NJ: That's genius. [2214.2] Frank: Numskull suggests putting a parachute on it, so having it like a... [2218.2] Frank: Yeah. [2219.2] NJ: Para-motor. [2220.2] Frank: Yeah, that's a great idea. [2222.2] NJ: That might work. [2223.2] NJ: I've got some Para-motor bags. [2227.2] NJ: It's got to be on the same level of material. [2229.2] NJ: Yeah, it will carry a bag. [2231.2] NJ: Yeah, some sort of bin bag. [2233.2] NJ: And it happens. [2239.2] NJ: I think you need to pick a vendor. [2241.2] NJ: Like, pick Tesco bags or Sainsbury's or, you know, Lidl, perhaps. [2246.2] NJ: Lidl flight properties might be better than Tesco. [2250.2] NJ: Yeah. [2251.2] Jack: I got detained by the police for having a Sainsbury's bag. [2255.2] Jack: So, clearly, that's... [2258.2] Frank: Actually, to be fair, you can have it over Lidl's head, so, you know. [2263.2] Tony: I'm dragging her inside your house at the time. [2268.2] NJ: Do you know what? [2269.2] NJ: Go for the Lidl bags and then when it flies, we can upgrade it to the Lidl card. [2276.2] Curry: Well, put it this way, it's not like I'm going to take stuff off it [2279.2] Curry: because I'm desperate to use the high quality stuff there. [2283.2] Curry: So, there's nothing stopping me at some point putting a carrier bag on it [2286.2] Curry: and just seeing what happens. [2288.2] Curry: My only slight word of worry is that in order for it to go along, [2292.2] Curry: I kind of need it on, like, a street, which could be a bit dodgy outside [2297.2] Curry: when people see this death machine coming along. [2300.2] Curry: But we'll see what happens. [2305.2] Frank: Richard Warwick's got a good name for the banger clone. [2309.2] Frank: The curry dog frame. [2311.2] Tony: I know you can wait. I'm literally wetting myself in. [2314.2] AndyRC: I'll be back in a minute. [2317.2] AndyRC: My friend Phil, who made the dog poo bin fly, [2321.2] AndyRC: has just texted me and it says, [2323.2] AndyRC: I could learn a lot from curry kids. [2328.2] NJ: So, there you go. [2329.2] NJ: Can we say this is officially thinking inside the box? [2334.2] Curry: It's not the first time I used a box. [2336.2] Curry: When I had problems, I had the Buffalo FX 79, [2340.2] Curry: great big wing that I got from Hobbyking, [2344.2] Curry: and I had immense problems flying it. [2346.2] Curry: Literally, I spent a long time building it [2349.2] Curry: and I went out with my friend and he launched it. [2351.2] Curry: It's literally this brilliant parabola curve [2354.2] Curry: where it goes up, goes like that and blows apart. [2357.2] Curry: And then the same thing happened again on the second flight. [2360.2] Curry: And it's a long rebuild every time because the phone just went, [2363.2] Curry: poof, exploded. [2365.2] Curry: On the third time, we got it flying. [2367.2] Curry: I was flying with another friend there [2369.2] Curry: and we were using the MFD autopilot [2371.2] Curry: and we were tuning that up, landed it. [2373.2] Curry: I'm like, we're ready to go. [2374.2] Curry: Let's have a proper flight. [2375.2] Curry: And the MFD just went and all the servos started going crazy. [2379.2] Curry: And I then decided I was going to make the box into a plane [2383.2] Curry: and see if it would fly better, which it did. [2389.2] Curry: What was that wing that Hobbyking, not Hobbyking, [2392.2] Curry: Flight Test did. [2393.2] Curry: I used one of their ones. [2394.2] Curry: I think it was the Versa wing, so I flew that [2397.2] Curry: and that was much more successful. [2399.2] Curry: The only problem I had with it [2401.2] Curry: was that if you use fully cardboard everywhere, [2404.2] Curry: then your wing surfaces are a bit floppy, as I found out, [2408.2] Curry: because it's like, you need to pull up a bit. [2410.2] Curry: I was like, my stick's all the way back. [2411.2] Curry: He's not pulling it up. [2413.2] Curry: It's coming. [2414.2] Curry: So that ending went like this. [2415.2] Curry: But it worked. [2417.2] Curry: Blown that. [2418.2] Curry: Cardboard is underrated at the material. [2424.2] Jack: Can't you stiffen it up with a bit of carbon fiber or glue [2428.2] Jack: or something? I don't know. [2430.2] Jack: Yeah, we could have done. [2431.2] Curry: But by the end of that day of flying it, [2434.2] Curry: we decided it would be best going out with a bit of a bang. [2438.2] Curry: And I think it was nice and easy [2441.2] Curry: because it just folded up and went into recycling bin [2443.2] Curry: at the end of the day. [2446.2] Curry: How convenient. [2448.2] Curry: Exactly. [2450.2] NJ: You know, if you make... [2452.2] NJ: Sorry, I can't quite leave the subject to the f***ing card. [2456.2] NJ: But... [2457.2] AndyRC: Come on, take a sound bite of that. [2461.2] Curry: I'm mostly called at that just to give the editor a bad day. [2465.2] NJ: It's very rare that he's having to edit me out as well, [2468.2] NJ: so good work on that. [2471.2] NJ: I was thinking, well, if you just use little bags [2474.2] NJ: for the parachute, then obviously people think [2476.2] NJ: it's some kind of little drone delivery service. [2482.2] NJ: Think of it, their Twitter will be lit. [2484.2] NJ: You've got to do it. [2485.2] Jack: Can you imagine if you do use it or something, [2490.2] Jack: hemp of it, something awful happens [2492.2] Jack: and it makes the local newspaper like, [2494.2] Jack: weird man, like, you know, [2498.2] Jack: injures OAP with homemade drone named f***tart. [2508.2] Curry: Even better if they went with the angle. [2510.2] Curry: He'll have like a bandage round his head [2513.2] Curry: and be holding this up, pointing to his head, [2515.2] Jack: saying I've been f***tarded. [2520.2] Jack: Someone will like you crash into the biggest meathead. [2524.2] Jack: And it will be like f***tart. [2527.2] Jack: I think it's an insult. [2528.2] NJ: Beat your heart out, Tom Stanton. [2530.2] NJ: Oh, yeah, there you go. [2533.2] NJ: You and your fancy engineering and your 3D printers. [2536.2] NJ: Couldn't have done that, could you? [2537.2] Curry: I don't need none of that. [2538.2] Curry: Hot glue, a bit of tape, it's all good. [2542.2] Curry: I was chowing my inner Tony with that tape, [2544.2] Curry: just like stick it down. [2545.2] Curry: It'd be fine. [2546.2] Jack: It'd be all right, mate. [2548.2] Jack: I'd just like to point out mine wasn't a speed build kit. [2551.2] Jack: I got the plans. [2552.2] Jack: I cut it out by hand. [2554.2] Jack: I messed up the wing and then had to cut it out. [2557.2] AndyRC: Jack, anything you say is not going to make a dent on this. [2561.2] AndyRC: I know. [2562.2] Jack: I'm afraid. [2564.2] Jack: Do you name anything f***tard on this show? [2567.2] NJ: You won. [2572.2] NJ: On the technical level, Jack, you won, [2574.2] NJ: but f***tards captured our hearts. [2577.2] NJ: No, no. [2578.2] NJ: It's the crowd favourite. [2582.2] Jack: Everyone loves a f***tard. [2586.2] Frank: I think it fits in very well with the sort of LDO aesthetic. [2592.2] Frank: Very well. [2594.2] Frank: And the principle of the competition. [2597.2] Frank: Aesthetic. [2598.2] Frank: Exactly. [2599.2] NJ: Aesthetic, ethos, way of life. [2605.2] AndyRC: It just hits a 10 in every category. [2611.2] Jack: I love wind comics. [2614.2] Jack: Someone contacts the CAA to report a drone with the number f***tard. [2620.2] Jack: So that they can track it. [2623.2] Jack: When will they let us, buddy? [2625.2] Jack: You like choose our own... [2628.2] Jack: No, you should be able to buy your own number, mate. [2631.2] Frank: And it's your registration numbers. [2633.2] Jack: Yeah. [2636.2] Frank: Well, considering that you've got to have a new one every year for some reason. [2641.2] Frank: I didn't know that, Andy. Is that true? [2643.2] AndyRC: Yeah, yeah. That's why they're saying... [2645.2] AndyRC: Put stickers on them now. [2647.2] AndyRC: Oh, man, I've printed off a million of this. [2650.2] AndyRC: Yeah, there's... [2651.2] AndyRC: And there's Jack... [2652.2] Tony: Jack's been etching his into his frames. [2658.2] AndyRC: Jack's had a tattoo of his and everything. [2660.2] Tony: What? [2662.2] Tony: Oh, Jack, you didn't think that through, did you, Mike? [2665.2] Jack: No, I've written in Charlie and everything. [2669.2] Frank: It's all right. They're going to have to stop that because at some point, [2671.2] Frank: they're going to get to the end of the Excel spreadsheet and then, you know, [2673.2] Frank: they're not going to want to keep giving it more numbers. [2675.2] Curry: As we all know, you can only have a million columns, [2677.2] Curry: as we've now found out, in an Excel spreadsheet. [2680.2] Frank: 16,453 or whatever it was. 2 to the 14. [2684.2] Frank: What idiot? [2686.2] Jack: I'm confident. [2687.2] Jack: Frank, what did you make? [2690.2] Frank: I didn't get a box. I sent you boxes. [2694.2] Jack: Oh, I think we should combine all our boxes together of what's left. [2698.2] Frank: Yeah, you can have all the left over. [2701.2] Curry: He's having with a million wheels and oil. [2704.2] Curry: It's like a load of exhaust pipes. [2706.2] NJ: Have you seen Mr. Shady's comment? [2708.2] NJ: Will it be going in the sim? [2710.2] NJ: That's a brilliant idea. [2712.2] NJ: Please put it in McCurry's bin. [2715.2] Curry: It's nice to have a dog poo bin in there as well. [2719.2] Curry: I said the dog poo bin can go in the sim if someone can draw me. [2722.2] Curry: If I drew a dog poo bin, it would just look like a rectangular red cube, [2726.2] Curry: which is not going to be that exciting and won't say NDRC on the side of it. [2730.2] AndyRC: That would make no sense if you did that way. [2733.2] AndyRC: People would not understand why that bin was in there. [2737.2] Curry: I don't think many things make sense in it. [2740.2] Curry: No, fair enough. [2741.2] Curry: Desert floating in the middle of space. [2743.2] Curry: Why are there buildings here? [2745.2] AndyRC: It might be an interesting model name, though, [2748.2] AndyRC: to have what you built in the sim. [2750.2] AndyRC: You've got the plane, you've got the quad, then you've got the... [2754.2] AndyRC: Yeah. [2756.2] Jack: Told. [2757.2] AndyRC: Yeah, I don't even want to say it because it's one of those things that... [2761.2] AndyRC: You shouldn't really say it anyways now, but you're getting away with it. [2765.2] AndyRC: Give it a yeah. [2767.2] AndyRC: Yeah, great. [2768.2] AndyRC: I mean, YouTube already gave you a strike for it. [2771.2] AndyRC: That is dedication to the hobby on the show. Well done. [2777.2] Curry: It wasn't the intended... [2779.2] Curry: You know, I just... [2780.2] Curry: It was what I called it in my editor, [2782.2] Curry: so I didn't choose the name of that editor on YouTube. [2785.2] Curry: And then YouTube sent me a nasty note saying, [2789.2] Curry: we don't like your title here. [2792.2] Curry: And yeah, they said your video has been age-restricted. [2794.2] Curry: Your video, f***ing tired, was flagged to us for review. [2799.2] Curry: Upon review, we've determined that it may not be suitable for all viewers, [2803.2] Curry: and it may be placed behind an age restriction. [2806.2] AndyRC: Yeah, that WAP video, no age restrictions, got 300 million views. [2812.2] AndyRC: So that's, you know, that just shows you what YouTube's priorities are. [2817.2] AndyRC: Doesn't it? [2818.2] Curry: I would like to think that some actual person on YouTube has seen it [2821.2] Curry: and said, this is not for people, but I don't think that's the case. [2824.2] Curry: I don't... [2825.2] Curry: Robots. [2826.2] Curry: As far as I can tell, there's about four people work at YouTube worldwide. [2829.2] Curry: The rest are just robots. [2831.2] Curry: Yeah. [2833.2] Frank: Tony, do you know if Phil's done anything with the box of crap yet? [2837.2] AndyRC: He's got, oh man, that Phil has got just insane ideas [2842.2] AndyRC: and I think he needs more time, basically. [2845.2] AndyRC: I told him, like, there's no pressure to do anything with the stuff in the box, [2850.2] AndyRC: but I gave it to him because, yeah, there's a lot of good stuff in that one, [2853.2] AndyRC: EDF and that, and he's got some crazy ideas. [2856.2] AndyRC: And I imagine, see, what Curry's done is just, [2859.2] AndyRC: he's probably there now with scissors and all sorts of stuff. [2863.2] AndyRC: But I gave Phil the box and within half a second he went, [2868.2] AndyRC: this is Martin's. [2870.2] AndyRC: So he knew where you had it from, which I thought was hilarious. [2878.2] AndyRC: It just shows how small the world is as well, doesn't it? [2883.2] AndyRC: Because apparently it was the price tags that gave it away. [2887.2] AndyRC: And everything had an individual price tag, [2889.2] AndyRC: and that was something that he specifically does and is known for. [2893.2] AndyRC: And he was like, oh, that's cool. [2895.2] AndyRC: Like price tags, that was Martin. [2897.2] AndyRC: But I've told him there's no pressure because this has been a crazier for me. [2902.2] AndyRC: And Phil has really, you know, dug me out of a hole issue as of you guys. [2906.2] AndyRC: In the top, mate. [2908.2] AndyRC: Phil needs his own channel. [2909.2] AndyRC: I want to show you, keep that on there for a while. [2912.2] AndyRC: Now I've told him, yeah, the thing about Phil is he has these crazy ideas. [2916.2] AndyRC: He does them. [2917.2] AndyRC: And then it goes nowhere. [2919.2] AndyRC: He just does it for his own amusement. [2921.2] AndyRC: And the fact that I've caught a couple of them on camera. [2924.2] AndyRC: Are you laughing at this one, M.J., by many channels? [2929.2] AndyRC: I am laughing at that one. [2934.2] Frank: So what Mr. Shady has suggested is to use a f*** up as a wind block. [2942.2] AndyRC: What, Mr. Shady, you want its own channel, do you think? [2945.2] AndyRC: Either way, he's going to be a sticker. [2948.2] NJ: The way that wind socks work means that they do actually have to be able to bend. [2953.2] NJ: Yeah. [2954.2] NJ: If that sock will not be f***ing windy, there's probably 50 knots everywhere. [2965.2] Jack: I can't believe I'm doing this. Hang on. [2968.2] AndyRC: Just make sure that you are always downwind when you use it, Jack. [2975.2] Tony: This has been one of my favourite shows in a long, long time. [2980.2] Curry: You've got an extra week to do stuff with your gubbins. [2984.2] Curry: You could do all those wheels and combine it with your Inspire [2988.2] Curry: and just take the Inspire for a drive. [2990.2] AndyRC: OK, Andy. [2992.2] AndyRC: I will try to do something. [2994.2] AndyRC: I've got it official here. [2996.2] AndyRC: I'll sort it proper. [2998.2] AndyRC: I'll sort it proper. [2999.2] AndyRC: I did think about doing the one hour challenge. [3002.2] AndyRC: Phil, if you're watching this, do not put so much of your time into this. [3007.2] AndyRC: Ross, he's got a lot to do anyways. [3011.2] NJ: Well, there's quite the benchmark has been set in the revels, really. [3017.2] Frank: Why is there smoke in front of Jack? [3020.2] Curry: Jack is on fire. [3022.2] Curry: No, it's fine. [3024.2] Curry: It's not enough that he's doing a podcast. [3028.2] Curry: He's got bored of that and is now doing some stuff. [3031.2] Jack: I'm just trying to finish what the mini guinea. [3037.2] Jack: Nothing to see here. [3039.2] Frank: A circuit around your room. [3042.2] Frank: You're not going to beat Currys, I'm afraid. [3046.2] AndyRC: I think even that wouldn't have to be more. [3049.2] Jack: It's a rank mountain in Germany. [3051.2] Jack: Have you been FPV SE? [3054.2] Jack: No. [3055.2] Jack: Email Brian till I fly at gmail.com. [3058.2] Jack: Drop us a pin. [3066.2] NJ: Yet another bucket list location for Jack. [3071.2] Curry: If my quad crashes in there, I'm not retrieving it. [3074.2] Curry: It can stay there. [3076.2] AndyRC: Bucket list is not the right word to use. [3080.2] Jack: Careful you don't knock yourself out without a sock, Jack. [3083.2] Jack: G-dog. [3087.2] Jack: Is that G? [3090.2] Jack: It's all G. [3092.2] NJ: I think the difference between the first half and the back half of this podcast [3097.2] NJ: just speaks volumes to the diversity of topic that we seem capable of covering. [3104.2] Frank: This is why we have the show limited to an hour, [3107.2] Frank: because, you know, there's a trend here. [3111.2] Frank: But I think it's probably a good time to remind people about the show [3116.2] Frank: that we're doing in a couple of weeks' time, [3119.2] Frank: which is the FPV Horror Stories. [3122.2] Frank: So if you have some FPV Horror Stories, [3125.2] Frank: make sure to send them in to letsdroneoutatgmail.com. [3128.2] Frank: We'll also be probably getting one or two guests on as well [3133.2] Frank: to read out their FPV Horror Stories. [3135.2] Frank: So if you're interested in that, let us know about that as well. [3138.2] Frank: Yeah, so what we're looking for. [3139.2] Frank: I mean, Jack gave us a little sample on one of the Patreon special episodes. [3145.2] Frank: But of times where you've maybe tried to do something [3151.2] Frank: and then realized that wasn't the right idea [3154.2] Frank: because it ended up covering you in poo, [3157.2] Frank: or maybe there's something where there was a very, very close call [3162.2] Frank: and was a very glench buttocks moment. [3166.2] Frank: So, I mean, Jack inspired it. [3168.2] Frank: So there's lots of poo references. [3171.2] Frank: But any time where kind of something's gone horribly wrong [3176.2] Frank: or almost went horribly wrong, [3179.2] Frank: or you've just decided that what seemed like a good idea at the time [3183.2] Frank: is not a good idea, we want to hear about those. [3188.2] Frank: And we'll try and either read them out or get you on the show to read it out. [3193.2] Tony: Does it have to be about drones? [3198.2] Frank: I think FPV, radio control, aviation, [3203.2] Frank: something in that kind of vein is what we're looking for. [3209.2] NJ: I don't think there'll be a shortage of material, personally. [3212.2] NJ: I think it will be. [3215.2] Frank: We want videos too, don't we? [3220.2] Frank: But we preferably want to be able to read it in a way that kind of, [3225.2] Frank: you can imagine the torch being held under your face around a campfire, [3230.2] Frank: is what we're looking for, those kinds of stories. [3235.2] Frank: So send them in to letstroneout.gmail.com [3239.2] AndyRC: And pictures if you've got them. [3244.2] Jack: Make sure as well, if you want someone to read it out, [3249.2] Jack: make sure you write who you want to read out. [3252.2] Tony: You, because you've got a bit of a weird voice tonight. [3256.2] Tony: I don't know. [3259.2] Tony: You sound a bit funny, Jack. Are you all right? [3262.2] Tony: Yeah, I'm all right. [3264.2] Tony: Hello, Tony. [3266.2] Tony: See? You've got a sore throat or something? [3270.2] Tony: No. [3275.2] NJ: Any kind of cough that we should know? [3278.2] Curry: I've got only now worked for the Corona Inquisition. [3283.2] Frank: In other news, changing the subject quickly, [3287.2] Frank: next week we will have Gail back on, Gail Orenstein. [3294.2] Tony: Where's Gail from three years ago? [3297.2] Frank: So she'll be telling us about the 32 countries [3301.2] Frank: that she's been flying drones in in the intervening time, [3304.2] Frank: but also she wants to get into FPV proper. [3309.2] Frank: So she's been flying loads of, sort of, not DJI, [3314.2] Frank: but the kind of aerial photography drones [3320.2] Frank: and flying them around in humanitarian and disaster areas [3324.2] Frank: and those sorts of places and getting them into interesting places [3328.2] Frank: and using them for her journalism. [3331.2] Frank: But now she's specifically seen some Johnny FPV videos [3335.2] Frank: and has thought actually FPV looks like an interesting thing to get into. [3340.2] Jack: Right, good laugh. [3343.2] AndyRC: Did you guys see as well? [3346.2] AndyRC: I really like the top gear with Paddy McGinnis and Freddy Flintoff [3351.2] AndyRC: and I noticed there was a shot that must have been done [3354.2] AndyRC: with either a Cinewoop or a freestyle drone. [3357.2] AndyRC: Did any of you guys see that by any chance? [3360.2] Frank: Yep, and I have reached out to the guy who did it. [3363.2] Frank: No way! [3365.2] Frank: I've sent him a Facebook friend request anyway [3368.2] Frank: and I will invite him and see if he's up for coming on the show at some point. [3372.2] AndyRC: I was like, oh man, this is like the start of, you know, [3377.2] AndyRC: not the start because Johnny FPV's been doing it. [3380.2] AndyRC: He's been putting some insane stuff up. [3382.2] AndyRC: I don't know if you saw his balloon with the skydivers thing. [3385.2] AndyRC: That was crazy. [3386.2] AndyRC: You were on TV's four years ago. [3389.2] AndyRC: You lot. [3390.2] AndyRC: All right Tony, yes, we know. [3392.2] AndyRC: Yes, Argos. [3394.2] AndyRC: Did you have one of those PFCOs to do that to? [3399.2] AndyRC: No, because I was finding the rules. [3402.2] AndyRC: Indoors, right. [3403.2] AndyRC: Is this inspire for flying indoors as well, is it? [3406.2] Tony: Bit caving. [3411.2] Tony: He was so nervous. [3412.2] Tony: It can't be. [3414.2] Tony: If your indoors is pretty big, yes. [3417.2] Curry: But Tony, everyone's indoors because of the big globe that's over the floor. [3422.2] Curry: So that's his excuse. [3423.2] Curry: Exactly, that is my excuse. [3425.2] Jack: Can you imagine winning a case course with that? [3428.2] Jack: Being like, yeah, you can see a flat and, you know, there is no outdoors [3433.2] Jack: and we're living in a simulation. [3435.2] Jack: We're all under the dome, we're indoors. [3438.2] AndyRC: Is that true? [3439.2] AndyRC: Apple had Johnny FPV in their iPhone 12 video. [3443.2] Jack: Yeah. [3444.2] AndyRC: Yeah, apparently. [3445.2] Curry: Yeah, I did keep seeing some screenshots of some drone with like [3448.2] Curry: literally an Apple phone strapped to the front of it, [3451.2] Curry: which seems a very odd choice of a camera. [3453.2] AndyRC: Yeah, and no battery by looks of it. [3456.2] AndyRC: That's a mega for FPV though, isn't it? [3458.2] AndyRC: Mega for FPV. [3461.2] AndyRC: It's going to be anyway. [3462.2] AndyRC: It's going to be everywhere soon. [3463.2] AndyRC: Why haven't we talked about any of this? [3465.2] AndyRC: And we've just been talking about. [3469.2] AndyRC: Come on. [3471.2] Curry: Follow where the fun is. [3472.2] Curry: Yeah. [3474.2] Jack: Sure. [3475.2] Jack: When it stops being fun, stop. [3478.2] Jack: When the fun stops, stop.
