[0.5] Curry: Welcome to Let's Drone Out, the original and best drone theme podcast.
[13.22] Curry: We record the show live on the Thursday night on youtube.com forward slash Let's Drone
[17.54] Curry: Out and our lovely patrons help with the editing costs.
[20.54] (Patrons): These are Wacky Wes, Mikey Dredd, Art Faulkner, Carlos Campos,
[29.3] Tony: Let's Drone Out.
[59.52] Jack: Introducing us tonight is Tony.
[62.04] Tony: Tony, go for it.
[64.04] Tony: No, I told you I would just do this.
[67.52] Jack: Just list a name of the people here, it's not hard.
[71.28] Jack: Right, repeat after me.
[72.64] Jack: Hello and welcome to Let's Drone Out.
[75.12] Tony: Hello and welcome to Let's Drone Out.
[78.36] Jack: Tonight we are joined by...
[80.56] Tony: Tonight we are joined by...
[83.2] Curry: Can you not do it in the creepy pedophile voice though?
[85.8] Curry: No, I'm not going to say anything, it's 13-year-olds perhaps.
[92.28] Tony: I'm leaving, I'm going, I'm going.
[96.84] Tony: You'll be picking on me like I did last week.
[99.28] Tony: Frank did it, now you're doing it.
[101.12] Jack: Right, because it's a special day, I would introduce Blue Alpha.
[106.56] Jack: So our new host on Let's Drone Out is...
[109.36] (Patrons): Hey!
[110.36] Jack: Come on, say it.
[111.36] Jack: That was your view.
[112.36] (Patrons): That was so sweet.
[113.36] (Patrons): Oh my god.
[114.6] (Patrons): Hi everyone.
[115.6] Jack: I'm putting my hand up his anus to work him like a muppet.
[120.24] (Patrons): I'm not getting it Jack.
[122.08] Tony: Come on.
[123.08] Curry: Tonight we are joined by...
[125.08] Curry: Stop working.
[126.08] Curry: Say for a little L Tony.
[128.08] Tony: Without Tony.
[129.08] Tony: I told Tony not to do this and he goes...
[135.64] Jack: Right, so then I get to Andy RC to get it out of the way.
[139.44] Tony: Andy RC to get it out of the way.
[142.04] Tony: Thanks for that.
[143.04] Jack: Quickly go to Curry Kitten, so the disclaimer.
[148.32] Jack: Everyone's...
[149.32] Jack: Any guests on the show first or may not reflect the views of others?
[154.24] Jack: And then we'll go for tonight's guest is Robin FPV or Agent A2COFC.
[162.24] Jack: Hello.
[163.24] Jack: The Lord and Master, Andrew slash Frank.
[169.72] Frank: Good evening.
[170.72] Jack: And I am or you would say, no, you would say then me.
[176.4] Jack: So you'd say...
[177.96] Jack: And join right until I fly.
[178.96] Tony: This is painful.
[179.96] Tony: It is, isn't it?
[180.96] Tony: Why did we...
[181.96] Tony: Why did we have him back on?
[182.96] Tony: Say it Tony.
[183.96] Tony: Well, say come back on and like sort yourself out and then...
[187.2] Jack: You wanted me here.
[189.2] Jack: You wanted me here.
[190.2] Jack: Look, just introduce me.
[192.64] Tony: And tonight, brighten out.
[195.84] Jack: Hello.
[197.4] Jack: And then you'd say I am, you know, and then say who you are.
[202.24] Tony: And tonight I'm Bonjour.
[204.24] Jack: After that car crash.
[211.4] Tony: And edit a start from now.
[213.8] Jack: Blue Owl, thank you so much.
[222.58] Jack: Thank you for joining.
[223.58] Jack: It's lovely to have you here.
[225.94] Jack: I'm hoping that you will bring somewhat more diversity and stop us from being complete
[230.98] Jack: incels.
[233.26] Jack: Me and Andy RC simp for you.
[235.5] Jack: So we will be cheering and...
[238.74] Jack: Wait, what was that?
[239.74] AndyRC: I missed that.
[240.74] AndyRC: Can I just Andy RC what for you?
[243.74] Frank: Just let him get him out, let him get it out of his system.
[248.1] AndyRC: It's terrible, isn't it?
[250.1] AndyRC: I know.
[251.1] AndyRC: I'm telling you, search your name and that search bar.
[255.54] Jack: You not do that.
[259.86] Jack: But thank you.
[260.86] Jack: Thank you for joining us.
[261.86] Jack: We love having you here and we hope to have many great shows with you.
[266.94] Jack: And Robin, it's nice to see you here from the chat.
[270.3] Robin Moore: Thanks very much.
[272.3] Jack: Earlier on, you were looking very deadly serious and I'm slightly scared of you.
[278.5] Robin Moore: I'm kind of nervous.
[279.5] Robin Moore: I'm a very serious person.
[281.5] Jack: You should realise you're on this show, right?
[286.46] Jack: You tune in most weeks.
[289.54] Robin Moore: Don't worry about it.
[290.9] Robin Moore: This was a special show about qualifications and I thought it was going to be a serious
[294.38] Robin Moore: one.
[295.38] Curry: It can be from now on, Robin and Robin kind of looks like the after photo like his Tony
[304.58] Curry: and then he worked out and got buff and he becomes Robin.
[309.06] Jack: I know you are a very attractive version of Tony.
[313.18] Tony: Thank you.
[314.18] Tony: I think I'm more attractive, but it's because it's me.
[318.34] Jack: So yeah.
[319.34] Jack: The whole idea of it is to have a bit of a car crash.
[328.22] Jack: Dick around for a little bit because it is going to get very seriously and then hopefully
[331.98] Jack: this has taken the edge off the seriousness for you.
[334.82] Jack: But we are going to talk about the A2COFC qualification that will allow you to fly.
[342.26] Jack: Is it the first of December?
[344.78] Jack: Is that right?
[345.78] Frank: So from the first of January, it will give you well, I mean, no, it doesn't really matter
[351.34] Frank: even then.
[352.34] Curry: This is of interest because my questions, which I'm sure you're going to answer already
[355.7] Curry: is what is the A2 cert?
[358.42] Curry: Why would you need it and what can you do with it?
[361.34] Curry: Yeah.
[362.34] Curry: I'm sure that's everybody else's question as well.
[364.34] Curry: I'll let you take that, Tony.
[367.34] Tony: Where's that kick button?
[373.34] AndyRC: How about we reword the question and just say what made you go for it because surely
[383.14] AndyRC: that would be the reason why it's useful for what made you go for these qualifications
[389.02] AndyRC: either of you?
[390.02] Robin Moore: Well, the main reason that I did it is because it gets rid of the 150 meter rule so I can
[397.3] Robin Moore: actually potentially go and play with my drones in a park and not actually get into
[402.38] Robin Moore: any model of people.
[404.5] Tony: Tony, your reason?
[408.02] Tony: Mine was to earn some money because I've done stuff before.
[412.62] Tony: I've been asked to shoot stuff before.
[415.86] Tony: I missed out on a big, nice gig chasing rally cars for a lot of money for two days work.
[424.58] Tony: And basically, I would have done it for free, but now I can earn some money doing it.
[430.58] Curry: This replaces the pretty, I forgot what's called now.
[434.98] Frank: So I want to make that very, very clear that the A2C of C has no bearing on whether you
[445.58] Frank: can do anything commercially because from the first of January, the difference between
[451.56] Frank: whether you're allowed to do it commercially and not is only insurance.
[457.84] Frank: So from the first of January 2021, the only thing that you need extra to be able to do
[464.2] Frank: something commercially that you would be allowed to do for your hobby just recreationally,
[469.64] Frank: the only difference is the insurance.
[471.48] Frank: So FPV UK and BMFA insurance doesn't cover you for commercial flying and there is an
[479.32] Frank: extra regulation that says to do commercial flying, you need to have adequate insurance.
[484.76] Frank: So that is the thing that come 2021, you won't need a PIFCO necessarily, as long as you're
[491.12] Frank: generally allowed to do the flight, but you will need to make sure you've got your insurance
[494.68] Frank: covered.
[495.68] Robin Moore: But then the extra hurdle will be, will insurance companies recognize anything less than a PIFCO?
[502.52] Robin Moore: There is that question as well, which I think I actually had a conversation with you Frank
[506.76] Robin Moore: just before I took the course and I think you were worried about me trying to go commercial
[511.28] Robin Moore: with it.
[512.28] Robin Moore: But the main reason for me to take it is with just to expand what I can do in the hobby.
[517.54] Robin Moore: And I think I don't think it's really aimed at professional drone flyers that much, as
[522.92] Robin Moore: much as it is to give hobby flyers a bit more freedom.
[526.96] Curry: Okay, if the distinction between what you can do as a recreational flyer and what you
[532.48] Curry: can do commercially is just insurance, is it the idea that an A2 might be recognized
[537.72] Curry: by an insurance company of saying this guy is taking it further, therefore we will insure
[541.92] Curry: him for commercial work or something like that?
[544.56] Frank: The bigger difference.
[545.56] Robin Moore: Well, yeah.
[546.56] Robin Moore: Sorry.
[547.56] Robin Moore: Yeah, I think so.
[548.56] Robin Moore: That's what they're going to be looking at in the future.
[549.56] Robin Moore: But like the same, they haven't even got any A2 registered drones yet, they haven't
[554.88] Robin Moore: been manufactured.
[555.88] Robin Moore: So it's all still up in the air looking forward at the moment.
[561.28] Frank: Because there's the classes of drones as well, so there's going to be a case where
[567.92] Frank: you could have a drone that has a particular UAV class on it.
[574.28] Frank: That means that you can fly closer into people.
[577.0] Frank: But the bigger reason to have the A2, so we've got two good examples here of the two reasons
[582.72] Frank: why you might.
[583.72] Frank: So Robin is flying recreationally and wants to be able to fly more places.
[588.44] Frank: So wants to be able to fly closer to people.
[591.68] Frank: So in a park where there might still be people around, you don't want to have to make sure
[596.68] Frank: you're the 150 meters away from people or something like that.
[601.2] Frank: So by having the A2, Robin can therefore go to a local park and fly closer to people and
[608.36] Frank: still be legal.
[609.36] Tony: It's 30 meters of uninvolved people.
[613.56] Frank: There we go.
[616.28] Frank: And for Tony, it's a similar kind of thing, but to do it commercially come 2021 when the
[623.24] Frank: rules change and there's no longer this technical requirement for the PIFCO, as long as you
[628.76] Frank: can get insurance, then to be able to go to a client and say, yes, I can fly the way that
[635.08] Frank: you're asking me to, rather than going, actually, that would be too close to people and therefore
[640.2] Frank: all buildings or vehicles that aren't under your control and therefore I can't do it.
[645.8] Robin Moore: Yes. In the future, when the A2 drones actually exist, they'll be up to four kilograms and
[652.52] Robin Moore: I think it's 30 meters away from uninvolved people, which goes down to some like five
[657.56] Robin Moore: meters in the like the special low speed mode that they'll have.
[661.4] Tony: Yeah, low speed mode, isn't there, that you can do?
[664.04] Tony: Obviously, DJI have talked to the people who are making the rules.
[671.48] Curry: So this has jumped up with another question from me.
[673.96] Curry: You've done a test for a drone that doesn't currently exist. Exactly what are the specs of
[677.4] Curry: an A2 drone then? What will they be apart from potentially up to four kilograms, which sounds
[684.6] Robin Moore: quite heavy? The other thing is that it's a
[689.29] Robin Moore: conditional period, which is what I'm going to be taking advantage of for the next two years.
[696.01] Robin Moore: I think you've seen the rules, like A1 is below 250 grams. With the A2, I can take that up to 500
[702.25] Robin Moore: grams. And for what would normally be A2 flying, I can have up to two kilogram drone and I can't
[713.45] Robin Moore: get down to 30 meters yet, but I can get down to 50 meters. So the largest drone I have is less than
[719.45] Robin Moore: two kilograms. So potentially I could fly that within 50 meters of people.
[724.33] Curry: And is there a class where you're allowed to ram people and that's okay?
[729.82] Frank: No. There's the there is the C0 class of ready to flies or almost ready flies or kits
[742.3] Frank: that is supposed to eventually come in at some point when someone could be able to do that.
[746.14] Frank: And there will be a toy version of that as well. And that will mean that you can fly
[752.94] Frank: over people and all that kind of stuff.
[757.42] Curry: My next question is, what was involved in doing the A2 test? Is it all
[762.46] Curry: theoreals? Are it practical? Is it expensive?
[768.41] Tony: Who wants to answer? Robin, you can answer that one.
[772.17] Robin Moore: I've answered them all. I thought you could take it.
[773.77] Tony: I plan 300 pounds for my learning and tests.
[777.61] AndyRC: Sounds like it got ripped off. Mikey Dred says it's 140 quid. What was the rest of the bribe?
[785.37] Tony: I went with a company who can help me out afterwards. So I've got unlimited questions
[792.89] Tony: and they're going to answer questions that I've got back me up, et cetera, et cetera.
[798.81] AndyRC: It kind of feels like if you were to do any of this, what you're allowed to do with this A2,
[803.93] AndyRC: and somebody stopped you, you would still get them bothered anyways by the sounds of it.
[810.33] Tony: Well, I don't know. I'm going to probably wear my, if I'm filming commercially,
[817.61] Tony: I'm going to wear a drone pilot vest. I'm going to be one of them.
[821.53] Tony: Oh, my God.
[823.05] Tony: Wear a little badge with my A2 and just hold it up to them and say.
[826.89] Curry: I've got a high vis thing to say, official drone pilot.
[830.01] AndyRC: Anyone can buy one of those though, right?
[836.17] Curry: When we used to work at IBM and pretend to be busy, he used to carry a folder about,
[840.17] Curry: and he just wrote important on it. All that was in it was the paper and he used to go to the
[844.49] Curry: toilet, read the paper, come out and just wave it about. It's important. Excuse me, going through.
[850.33] Tony: Well, to be fair, I used to be able to get into a cinema with a little step ladder and a high vis
[855.21] Jack: jacket. Oh, my God. I'm ashamed to admit this, but in college, it was this certain college
[867.05] Jack: in Wales and the layout was so bad that every year, we had to still do our run around and do
[878.81] Jack: stuff and move stuff from different places. If you look like you knew your way around,
[884.49] Jack: on the first, the newbie week, as we used to call it, in the end, we were given maps
[892.01] Jack: so that we could pretend we would know so people wouldn't ask us for directions because that's all
[898.73] Jack: that would happen. You couldn't actually go anywhere because our brakes would be few and small
[904.17] Jack: and it would be taken up by showing people how to get around. If Tony's going to get a high vis,
[910.73] Jack: saying qualified drone pilot, I'm going to write on it with an arrow like he did Gatwick.
[919.29] Jack: Safety disclaimer. Do not be on fire. Be careful around busy roads. Don't take our advice.
[927.53] AndyRC: Well done. But then they will be taking your advice by taking your advice,
[931.93] AndyRC: wouldn't they? It's a double bluff. You can't use it yet. Is that what you're saying?
[945.69] Robin Moore: We can't even use the transitional period until January next year.
[951.13] AndyRC: So it's something you've paid for that's in place for two years that you've taken
[956.01] AndyRC: advantage of to do freestyle in more places. You can't commercially if you don't have insurance
[962.89] AndyRC: and neither the two insurances that cover flying will ensure you when you've got one. So this is
[968.97] Robin Moore: what I'm struggling with. The two years is just for the transitional period. After that,
[978.65] Robin Moore: it carries on for five years, I think. You're qualified for five years,
[984.09] Tony: so you don't got to do anything for five years. I found an insurance company already.
[991.93] Tony: And they even recognize drones if you put an Aggie in. Even if you've got a drone that they
[1000.49] Tony: don't know of, like Cinewoop or something like that, they'll ask you what it is and
[1006.89] Tony: you can tell them what it is and then they'll update their website and stuff for it.
[1011.29] Tony: So you can get insured and find insurance. To answer the practical question somebody
[1020.41] Robin Moore: asked earlier as well, there is a practical element that you're supposed to have done,
[1024.89] Robin Moore: but they don't actually check and they just advise you to fly like you've got an A2,
[1030.41] Robin Moore: but you'll have to do it in A3 because you can't do it in A2 yet and just pretend.
[1035.85] Tony: I sent in some very important flight logs of me flying at the field.
[1044.54] AndyRC: So you have to log every flight, dear.
[1048.86] AndyRC: No, you don't. So what are your flight logs?
[1052.46] Tony: You don't have to fly. This was for the practical. You have to tell them that you're
[1060.14] Tony: flying when and where and send that in.
[1064.46] BlueOwl: All right. Is it going to change? Are they going to introduce some kind of practical part at some
[1069.34] Tony: point? I don't know. I don't know. Maybe they will. Maybe they won't. I'm not entirely sure.
[1076.06] Curry: My granddad told me that when he got his driving license, the guy said,
[1079.18] Curry: now are you a good driver? Be honest. And he said, yeah, he got his driving license on that license,
[1083.74] Curry: which sounds a little bit like how you get your practical certificate at the moment.
[1087.02] Curry: Can you fly? Yeah, of course. Of course, there's a lot more like that.
[1092.86] Frank: I think also there has been a bit of a kind of relaxation of how strict they are with it
[1101.5] Frank: at the moment. I think particularly, Tony, you've experienced this, that they're having to kind of
[1108.78] Frank: relax things a little bit because meeting up in person hasn't been something that they could do.
[1117.98] AndyRC: No one's called asking for a link to the courses. We've got one.
[1122.14] AndyRC: How much are the courses? 140 quid.
[1126.46] AndyRC: 160 in bribes.
[1132.54] BlueOwl: So does it include the exam as well? Or is it just a course and then you have to pay for the exam?
[1141.42] Robin Moore: Mine included the exam as well. And it had to be like a live indigilated thing where they just
[1146.14] Robin Moore: watched my camera and I had to spin the camera around the whole room to make sure I wasn't cheating.
[1150.78] Tony: Wow. Yeah, mine was exactly the same. So I had three nights training for about
[1156.38] Tony: two and a half hours a night online and then a test at the end the next day. And you literally
[1165.34] Tony: have to agree to loads of stuff. And then there's AI watching the camera to see if you're looking
[1171.9] Tony: down, moving papers, you have to shut all your other things open on your laptop. So yeah,
[1180.22] Tony: they do see if you're cheating or attempting to cheat.
[1184.94] Robin Moore: Yeah, mine had like a team viewer thing so they could see everything I was doing.
[1190.22] AndyRC: Oh, I forget that.
[1192.7] Curry: So there's a question popped up for Blue Al here asking if he needs or has any drone flying
[1198.14] Curry: qualification. She's flown in some pretty cool places.
[1202.54] BlueOwl: Yes. So I used to work at CERT, which is right on the border of Switzerland and France. So I
[1209.02] BlueOwl: actually had to get my qualification in France and in French as well. And that was a long time
[1217.34] BlueOwl: ago. That was I think three years ago. I could barely speak French. So I didn't take any course.
[1224.62] BlueOwl: I was just learning on my own. There were some online courses I would be way too embarrassed to
[1230.62] BlueOwl: go to a classroom with a bunch of French people and pretend that I understand as much as they do.
[1237.18] BlueOwl: So yeah, I did that. And that was even before France introduced any kind of drone certification.
[1243.74] BlueOwl: So what I actually had to do is was to pass it was I don't know if you guys have that. Do you have
[1251.18] BlueOwl: an ultra light category for like deltas and for in French it's called ULM. So it's the
[1260.94] BlueOwl: lightweight kind of plane. It was literally like a very shrinked version of PPL. It wasn't a PPL,
[1269.1] BlueOwl: but it was it was the theoretical part of like a very, you know, cut cut version of PPL. Only one
[1276.7] BlueOwl: exam instead of nine. So I did that. And then I think one or two years after that they actually
[1284.38] BlueOwl: introduced a drone certificate and I could just get it kind of for free. You know, there was like
[1291.42] BlueOwl: also a transition period where people who passed the ULM certificate could just get it for
[1297.66] BlueOwl: and for free. I didn't have to take another exam, luckily. So that was yeah, it's actually quite
[1305.5] BlueOwl: interesting to see what's happening in the UK right now because this is what I compared to.
[1310.7] Tony: This is what I know. Well, it was supposed to be July. The A2 was going to come in to effect and
[1320.06] Tony: then it got pushed back because of Covid and stuff, I suppose. We've had a few iterations
[1327.58] Frank: over the years of different qualifications. So there was the BNUC, the P4, the PIFCO,
[1337.58] Frank: and now they're kind of doing away with all of that. I think basically because there's too many
[1342.78] Frank: people with them and it takes too much paperwork and there's only so many people that can handle
[1346.46] Frank: it. So they're just kind of like, how can we minimize the amount of paperwork we have to do
[1351.5] Curry: for what's actually going on? Is anybody imagining there's going to be a big influx of people
[1358.78] Curry: sort of trying to do commercial stuff on the cheap, like sort of like, oh, I can get some good
[1364.94] Curry: pictures of your house from here. Don't worry about insurance. I'll be all right sort of thing,
[1368.78] Curry: you know, just sort of dodgy, the dodgy deal, but I can do it for cheap. Yeah, yeah.
[1372.54] AndyRC: I see Tony doing that. It's like you don't want to hire someone cheap.
[1381.02] Curry: They haven't got the qualifications, they haven't got the insurance.
[1383.66] AndyRC: Got drone pilot written on the top. Jobs again.
[1389.18] Robin Moore: I think we've already got an issue of people getting a PIFCO and then thinking they can fly
[1393.42] Robin Moore: just wherever they want. And I think, you know, with the A2, it's got the potential.
[1399.1] Robin Moore: This week we saw somebody in Manchester that thinks that because they've got a flyer idea
[1403.42] Jack: that they can buy over the city of Manchester. Yeah, I didn't really want to bring up that guy.
[1413.82] Jack: That was quite on the interesting side. He visited his neighbors and all sorts, apparently.
[1419.66] Jack: Yeah, so he's removed that one now. I'm really upset. I didn't get to see that.
[1425.82] Robin Moore: I know. I was trying to keep it quiet, but then it blew up. So he started removing stuff anyway.
[1433.98] Jack: Yeah, he really did pad out the bellend playlist that I've got on my YouTube channel.
[1442.06] Jack: And I was thoroughly enjoying that. Yes, this was a YouTube channel,
[1449.26] Frank: the Mank drone guy, I think was something along those lines.
[1453.02] Tony: No, you're not naming him, are you? Name and shame, Frank. Name and shame.
[1458.7] Frank: And so he puts his flyer ID and operator ID in the description of every video. But there was a
[1466.78] Frank: video recently that made the rounds of all the drone association and association of
[1472.38] Frank: responsible drone users in the UK and all those kinds of Facebook groups of people complaining.
[1478.38] Frank: Look at this guy because he's flying over central Manchester where he probably shouldn't
[1485.58] Frank: be flying, almost certainly. So it's just kind of even then, even though he's registered and
[1494.22] Frank: being very open about who he is, it obviously isn't that much of a restriction on where he's
[1503.34] Frank: actually flying. But on the other hand... YouTube in the description.
[1513.42] Robin Moore: Yeah, we should have sent it to Bruce because he loves the
[1515.9] Robin Moore: you know, registration obviously doesn't work, does it? Because he's registered and it's not worked.
[1522.38] Curry: I had a question come up actually, Frank, about the registration labels from a friend of mine
[1529.82] Curry: who was confused and I said, I'll ask Andrew slash Frank because he's an expert on this. He's like
[1534.14] Curry: our legal expert and compliance officer, if you like. And it's from the FPV UK org website and says,
[1544.22] Curry: NB, when your registration is processed by the CAA, they will send you an email which says,
[1549.42] Curry: you also require a flyer ID to fly legally. If you have done our free online two minute,
[1554.54] Curry: ten multiple question test certificate of competence drone law, a certificate for sure,
[1560.7] Curry: you can ignore this. Exemption 1328 exempts you from that requirement. Is this the case? If you've
[1567.82] Curry: got the basic multiple choice certificate and you're a member of FPV UK orgs, you not need a sticker.
[1577.26] Frank: So also number 1328 E4957 was only valid until the 30th of June.
[1584.86] Curry: Oh, so Simon needs to update his website.
[1586.7] Frank: Simon needs to update his website unless it's been extended. But as far as I can tell,
[1591.1] Frank: it's been removed from the CAA website. So I don't think it is.
[1597.9] Robin Moore: I had to get a sticker from my drone when I was with FPV UK. And actually to take this test for
[1603.9] Robin Moore: the A2, I had to get a flyer ID, which I hadn't had before, but they wouldn't let me sit my
[1608.86] Curry: ground until I had a flyer ID. It's only been a pain because I happened to be filming myself
[1617.34] Curry: holding up a drone and then inadvertently had my number on and I had to refilm a bunch of bits,
[1622.06] Curry: which is annoying. I have put stickers on just to prove it.
[1626.78] AndyRC: It does change every year anyways, we should say. So don't permanently put your
[1632.06] AndyRC: ID tattooed on your body or something. So if it does get out, you can get another ID,
[1640.14] AndyRC: they'll give you a new one when you register every year or whatever it is.
[1644.86] Frank: And to make it even more easy to understand, there are the two different numbers, the operator ID
[1650.3] Frank: and the flyer ID that are for different reasons. And only one of them has to go on the drone.
[1656.94] Frank: So it's like, you know, it's not maybe the clearest and easiest thing to follow,
[1665.74] Jack: but there we go. If you don't know, you could always use the Manchester guys one.
[1672.94] Frank: Or don't. This episode was recorded in front of a live online audience,
[1677.82] Frank: downloaded and edited to make sense when it's played audio only, censored to please the
[1682.54] Frank: iTunes people hosted on the internet, forwarded through to your podcast provider,
[1686.22] Frank: downloaded, playing on your device and is now playing in your ears. All thanks to our Patreons.
[1691.98] Frank: Consider joining them and you'll also get other online benefits.
[1695.42] Tony: Find out more at patreon.com forward slash let's drone out.
[1712.94] Tony: With their permission. I think if you do the A2, if you've got permission from the person,
[1718.94] Tony: you can fly as close as you want to them. Without the A2 you can.
[1726.22] Curry: Under your control, isn't it specifically?
[1729.26] Tony: If I agree to it, you can fly as near as you want.
[1733.26] Tony: He said I can fly it to his face.
[1737.18] Curry: I know he doesn't remember it now, that's because he's concussed.
[1739.5] Frank: I think there is there is a slightly higher ranking rule that is fly safely.
[1746.46] Frank: I think that's quite important.
[1748.38] AndyRC: It's a bit subjective, isn't it?
[1749.98] AndyRC: Don't be a nod, basically.
[1752.14] AndyRC: Yeah, so you'll be all right.
[1755.18] Frank: Also ask another question from FBV SE. Would you know if there will be a weight limit for flying
[1762.14] Frank: a DIY craft FPV?
[1766.14] Frank: For the pilot or the plane?
[1773.82] AndyRC: I'm getting close to it, I think if it's pilot.
[1777.5] Frank: If you've got a camera on it, then you're definitely going to have to be registered
[1786.3] Frank: whether or not it's above or below 250 grams.
[1789.82] Frank: Yeah, otherwise there is because you're not supposed to be flying FPV
[1798.7] Frank: except for the fact that there is a special exemption for flying FPV and that's where
[1803.9] Frank: there's an extra weight limit, which if memory serves me is three and a half kilos.
[1811.82] Frank: I want to say is three and a half kilos
[1814.62] Frank: because I think that was what we were looking at with the
[1819.9] Frank: X-Class and like, oh, can we actually do these?
[1824.06] Frank: I think it's three and a half kilos for the exemption for the FPV,
[1827.34] Frank: but I'm just trying to remember the actual exemption by far.
[1831.34] Frank: I will post it in the description when I remember it.
[1833.98] Frank: I think it is, Frank.
[1835.82] Curry: I thought you were going to realise.
[1837.26] Curry: Are these all rules coming in on the first or second?
[1840.46] Curry: Because these sound an awful lot like some of these things you're talking about is like
[1845.02] Curry: that old EI sub thing with the stupid categories and some of the categories
[1850.22] Curry: didn't technically exist because the technology wasn't there.
[1854.14] Frank: Oh, yeah, that's all happening.
[1856.3] Frank: That's all what's coming in in January, are the C0 to C.
[1861.82] Curry: That's exactly what we're talking about.
[1866.62] Curry: Do we think people are actually going to pay attention to this?
[1869.58] Curry: Because it gets to a point where people are just like, this is too complicated.
[1873.66] Curry: Go screw yourselves.
[1874.62] Curry: I'll just carry on doing what I'm doing.
[1879.58] Robin Moore: Like Frank said, everything with a camera is going to need to be registered.
[1883.26] Robin Moore: So you're going to have to start sticking sticky labels on your
[1885.34] Robin Moore: WOOP if you want to fly outside.
[1888.86] BlueOwl: And apart from that, from having a sticker,
[1892.94] BlueOwl: are you going to have to send a flight log somewhere or, I don't know,
[1898.62] BlueOwl: documents of your flight somehow?
[1902.06] Frank: There's no idea if flight logs for recreational flying.
[1909.02] Frank: So to register, that is, you have to pay your nine pounds to get your operator ID
[1915.02] Frank: and you have to do your online test to get your flyer ID.
[1920.38] Frank: And it's the operator ID that goes on the drone.
[1924.62] BlueOwl: All right, now I'm getting more and more confused about it.
[1933.5] BlueOwl: So what is the difference between the flyer and the operator?
[1938.62] Frank: The operator ID is of the person who's paid the nine pounds to be responsible for it.
[1947.74] Frank: I'm still not entirely sure why there's a difference, but what it means is that,
[1952.38] Frank: for example, if there is a parent and a child, and so the child isn't old enough
[1959.02] Frank: to be an operator, then the parent pays the nine pounds to be an operator,
[1965.5] Frank: and the child does the online test to be the flyer, and so the child can then fly
[1972.22] Frank: essentially unsupervised as long as it's the weight limit that they're allowed to fly it.
[1977.82] BlueOwl: So the operator is responsible for the quad or for the platform, whatever you're flying, right?
[1986.46] Frank: Yeah, I don't, I haven't actually seen anywhere that it says the operator is responsible for
[1993.1] Frank: anything. I think it's, I don't really know, but I think that's kind of meant to be kind of implied.
[2004.38] Frank: Yeah, I think it's kind of at least starts ringing some bells of like, oh, I have to pay
[2010.54] Frank: nine pounds to register myself and put my number on this. Ah, maybe I should kind of think about
[2017.18] Frank: whether I should give my child FPV quads.
[2024.14] Tony: Doesn't the flyer ID change every year as well?
[2027.58] Frank: The operator ID changes every year because you pay the nine pounds every year,
[2035.34] Frank: and the flyer ID changes every three years because that's how long the test is valid for.
[2044.3] Robin Moore: I've heard some people have kept their operator ID and some people have changed.
[2049.1] Frank: Yes, there's also that for reasons that aren't clear.
[2055.34] Frank: I think whether the first time around, whether you went through the BMFA or FPV UK,
[2061.5] Frank: or whether you went directly with the CAA, now some people, when they're renewing this time,
[2070.86] Frank: it's staying the same and sometimes it's not.
[2075.26] Robin Moore: From the DJI guys, I think some people were able to renew and some people had to re-register.
[2082.14] Curry: I think to call this a car crash, we'd be giving it too much of a compliment about how well it's
[2087.1] Curry: organized. I mean, no one's going to be able to be compliant because no one really understands
[2092.94] Curry: the rules and to try and enforce the rules if no one understands the rules is completely impossible.
[2097.66] Curry: So I'd advise you to renew it all and just fly safely. That's not official advice. We did read
[2105.5] AndyRC: the disclaimer. Don't listen to us. It could be the way that we're discussing it, making it sound
[2113.66] Curry: like a car crash also. It's probably really easy if it's not as involved in discussing it.
[2122.86] Frank: Painless has also made videos without me on it about this and still hasn't been able to
[2129.58] Frank: pin down in a kind of succinct, easy to understand way. So that's my litmus test for like,
[2136.14] Frank: ah, this is more complicated than it feels. We might not even be allowed out.
[2144.54] Frank: Yes, it might be a completely moot point. We might all just be under the lockdown for 2021.
[2151.02] Frank: I mean, that's kind of the other thing. Last year, I was spending far too much time
[2157.58] Frank: getting all these, even like early this year, trying to keep all these straight in my head
[2163.18] Frank: of what's going on, especially with all the deadlines changing because this was all going
[2166.54] Frank: to be coming in last November and there was delays in January and there was delays to July. All these
[2171.66] Frank: things were all changed around multiple times. I've spent far too much effort trying to keep
[2176.3] Frank: these things straight. I've given up, to be honest. They do all keep changing as well.
[2182.62] Robin Moore: The thing to remember is, apart from the registration, most of the rules are actually,
[2190.22] Robin Moore: if you do the A2, you get more freedoms. Whereas if you don't do the A2, you still have to stay 150
[2195.26] Robin Moore: meters away. So for most people, the rules aren't actually changing.
[2201.82] AndyRC: So get your measuring tape out and you'll be fine.
[2204.38] Frank: Yeah, it's a good point. For most situations, the current rules are pretty much staying.
[2215.9] Frank: Unless you go for the... You start using the under 250 things for...
[2224.46] Robin Moore: There are also... It's too much. It's too much.
[2228.54] Robin Moore: Under 250, again, you get more freedoms
[2230.94] Robin Moore: because then you can ignore the 150, I think.
[2235.82] Curry: I quite like the fact because you can always see interesting corner cases for it where you take off
[2240.54] Curry: in a field and you're alone and you don't have an A2 and then someone wanders up and says,
[2243.9] Curry: hello, go away. I can't land. You're too close to me now. What are you going to do?
[2248.46] Curry: It's like when people wander into frame, you haven't got much choice. It's like, yeah, I am
[2252.86] Curry: under 150 meters, but it's their fault. They came into my space.
[2257.42] Frank: I think there is a phrase in there that's something like you have to have a reasonable
[2262.22] Frank: expectation that no one will be walking in the area that you're flying.
[2266.54] Robin Moore: Yeah, there's the gray area. Get out of reasonable. Reasonably expect it to not have people near you.
[2273.58] Robin Moore: That was an interesting question on my quiz, actually, about what happens if you're flying
[2278.62] Robin Moore: and somebody comes over and starts talking to you. What are you supposed to do?
[2282.62] AndyRC: Yeah.
[2284.3] Robin Moore: What would you say would be the safe thing to do?
[2287.98] AndyRC: The safest thing is to crash it straight into the ground.
[2293.5] AndyRC: 150 meters away.
[2296.46] Curry: Yeah. Or like the women that let me hover over her head because the dog was chasing the quad
[2301.66] Curry: and she thought, if you hover it here, then I'll be able to get my dog back on the lead.
[2305.74] AndyRC: It probably is land, right? I would say.
[2309.1] Robin Moore: The option I chose was to carry on finishing what you're doing and land and then talk to
[2313.9] Robin Moore: the person. Just like say you're busy, finish what you're doing and then land and then talk
[2317.66] Robin Moore: to the person. But that was the wrong answer. The correct answer was to gain a safe altitude
[2323.5] Robin Moore: and then talk to the person. It's not really an FPV. It's aimed at the GDI that's just going
[2330.86] Robin Moore: to hover where you leave it.
[2332.3] Tony: Yeah, because I would take my hands off and just turn around and talk to you
[2336.14] Tony: because it just hover there.
[2337.9] AndyRC: To me, it's altitude is zero.
[2341.42] AndyRC: There's always room for non-safe when you're above zero.
[2345.18] AndyRC: Anyways, whatever.
[2349.1] Tony: Let's face it. Look, we're all drone enthusiasts and we really don't know the rules.
[2357.66] Tony: So how the police can enforce this is beyond me.
[2361.02] AndyRC: That's what I'm saying. Whether you've got an A2 or whatever,
[2363.82] AndyRC: you're still going to be in jail for a little bit probably.
[2367.58] Curry: I expect I'll just wrestle into the floor and beat you up a bit and all your stuff, as per usual.
[2378.46] Jack: They tried to arrest me for recycling in Brighton for crying out loud.
[2383.74] Tony: That's what they're doing, Brighton.
[2385.74] Tony: What tier are you in now, Jack? Do you know?
[2391.26] Tony: All you like a tier two. It's only the North that's two.
[2394.06] Curry: It's the North in that tier three place.
[2398.22] Tony: My parents are tier three in Kent and I can't go and see them this Christmas.
[2403.9] AndyRC: Just the corner, isn't it?
[2407.34] AndyRC: But all you like should take the advantage to meet up, not being able to do that.
[2412.06] AndyRC: All of the years. Still the rule is six or something.
[2415.26] AndyRC: The one week that you're in tier two or half a week or however long it is, you should all meet up.
[2421.02] AndyRC: Why not?
[2421.5] Curry: We should pop over to the Isle of Wight. They're in tier one.
[2424.06] AndyRC: Yeah, that's it. Or have a party on the Isle of Wight.
[2426.62] Tony: Well, mate lives in Isle of Wight. I'm not going to see him.
[2429.26] Tony: There you go.
[2430.14] Frank: Yeah, Christmas is.
[2433.5] Frank: Shall I say the rules are that even if you go to a lower tier area,
[2439.5] Frank: the rules of where you live and have come from a wide view.
[2444.3] Curry: Yeah.
[2446.06] Curry: It's all about not crossing the streams.
[2451.74] Frank: But it was a very sensible question
[2455.02] Frank: from FPVSE, another one.
[2459.42] Frank: Is there a central official place to read the final rules for next year yet?
[2464.62] Frank: Which is, you know, five weeks away.
[2467.26] Frank: And I will post in the chat a little small, easy, readable document covering
[2479.18] Frank: most of the things that you kind of need to be aware of.
[2482.86] Frank: Yeah, it's very light reading. It's only 238 pages.
[2490.54] Robin Moore: Oh, wow.
[2491.58] Robin Moore: I'm sure it contradicts itself several times as well.
[2494.62] Frank: Yeah, within about 20 minutes of reading it,
[2497.58] Frank: I'd already sent painless of the screenshots being like,
[2500.22] Frank: can you believe this?
[2502.14] Frank: Because it hasn't really been proofread from what I can tell.
[2506.94] Frank: There's a few diagrams that they've obviously left stuff out
[2511.66] Frank: or got halfway through moving things and not finished it.
[2514.86] Frank: And it doesn't seem very well finished.
[2519.5] Frank: I imagine they're quite busy trying to deal with the fact that like,
[2524.62] Frank: for example, if you are a pilot and your entire job depends on your pilot's license,
[2531.42] Frank: you need to have a certain amount of currency.
[2534.86] Frank: So you need to be able to have a certain number of flying hours
[2539.1] Frank: every month or whatever.
[2540.22] Frank: There's a requirement to keep flying semi-regularly
[2544.38] Frank: so that you don't lose your skills.
[2546.46] Frank: Obviously, at the moment, that's quite hard to do.
[2548.62] Frank: So the CAA having to work out other ways of dealing with that
[2553.1] Frank: where do you just remove a load of pilot's licenses
[2557.26] Frank: from pilots who are perfectly good pilots probably,
[2559.9] Frank: but haven't been able to fly this year?
[2562.06] Frank: Or what do you do with that?
[2564.3] Frank: So I think they've probably got bigger problems to think about
[2568.3] Frank: than, you know, the drone rig.
[2571.18] Frank: But there you go.
[2575.34] Frank: They were already committed to the deadline of January.
[2579.58] Frank: This is the document that they've put out, which is CAP 722.
[2584.54] AndyRC: I like this comment.
[2590.14] Frank: The police will be too busy.
[2592.86] Frank: Police will be too busy arresting pensioners
[2595.34] Frank: for sitting on park benches like they were this week in London.
[2599.98] Jack: Is that really what they were doing?
[2602.54] Tony: A 72-year-old, I think, got arrested.
[2605.9] AndyRC: Arrested, sitting on a bench.
[2609.5] Frank: Putting this all aside for a minute,
[2613.34] Frank: because I did also ask Robin to talk about some happier things.
[2620.06] Frank: There's something that I hadn't heard of,
[2621.74] Frank: and I don't think anyone else has heard of,
[2623.1] Frank: because I stuck the acronym in our little chat
[2625.26] Frank: and everyone was asking, what was that?
[2627.82] Frank: Was IGOW2?
[2631.98] Robin Moore: Well, I found him here.
[2633.42] Robin Moore: I think he's still actually in the competition, maybe.
[2637.1] Frank: Do you want to... What is IGOW2?
[2641.9] Robin Moore: Well, IGOW2 is the international game of whoop,
[2645.58] Robin Moore: and it's like a game of horse.
[2648.14] Robin Moore: And FPV Skittles is a guy who runs it,
[2650.54] Robin Moore: and people all over all the countries play.
[2654.62] Robin Moore: Basically, he sets a weekly challenge for you
[2657.1] Robin Moore: to do a trick in a certain location,
[2659.1] Robin Moore: and then you submit a video with a minute and a half
[2661.42] Robin Moore: along with music or editing or whatever you like,
[2663.98] Robin Moore: and then if you achieve the trick,
[2667.58] Robin Moore: then you don't get a letter,
[2668.78] Robin Moore: and if you fail the trick, you get a letter,
[2670.7] Robin Moore: and it spends out the word whoop,
[2673.1] Robin Moore: and that's basically it.
[2675.66] Robin Moore: I think the top prize is a sponsored tiny whoop pilot,
[2681.18] Robin Moore: and he does weekly draws,
[2683.42] Robin Moore: and each week you can win prizes.
[2687.42] Frank: How far did you get?
[2692.62] Robin Moore: I think week 15, something like that.
[2695.42] Robin Moore: And the thing I failed at,
[2697.82] Robin Moore: I actually went out and tried to do was inverted your spins,
[2701.42] Robin Moore: and we haven't got any massive great big towers
[2703.58] Robin Moore: like they have all over America or flagpoles or anything like that,
[2705.98] Robin Moore: so I was trying to do it around a street lamp,
[2708.54] Robin Moore: and I spent a while getting it
[2712.06] Robin Moore: and then walked all the way back
[2713.34] Robin Moore: because the buses were on because of COVID,
[2716.14] Robin Moore: and then looked at my footage,
[2717.74] Robin Moore: and I hadn't actually got it dead center
[2719.5] Robin Moore: at the top of the screen the whole way around
[2720.78] Robin Moore: like I was supposed to do,
[2721.66] Robin Moore: and I just wasn't going to walk back out there.
[2724.22] Robin Moore: It was the week when we had all those storms,
[2726.3] Robin Moore: and there was just no chance of flying a whoop outside.
[2729.98] Tony: We need to do what Blue Owl does
[2731.66] Tony: and tilt your camera at 10 million degrees.
[2735.5] BlueOwl: That would be too easy then.
[2738.22] Tony: Yeah, I can't, I'm going to try your camera tilt,
[2745.1] Tony: so I'm going to go to my local field
[2747.1] Tony: and see what it's like,
[2748.62] Tony: and probably I might do quite a bit.
[2752.78] Curry: Blue Owl's Invented Orbit is just an orbit.
[2755.9] Curry: That's the camera angle for you.
[2759.82] AndyRC: That'd be good.
[2761.5] BlueOwl: Well, that's actually going to be quite correct.
[2764.38] AndyRC: That is how people do those trippy spins easy.
[2767.02] AndyRC: It is literally the camera tilt.
[2769.1] AndyRC: It is easy.
[2771.82] BlueOwl: It's not complicated at all.
[2773.5] BlueOwl: It just looks crazy.
[2777.9] Robin Moore: If you get a really tall object,
[2779.42] Robin Moore: I think that helps as well.
[2780.78] BlueOwl: Yeah, it helps if it's tall
[2784.62] BlueOwl: and if it's spread around on the top,
[2788.7] BlueOwl: like streetlands, for example.
[2790.3] AndyRC: I can do it in a simulator, sort of,
[2792.46] AndyRC: but not in real life.
[2794.38] AndyRC: I remember your tutorial.
[2795.5] AndyRC: Same thing.
[2797.02] AndyRC: It wasn't that tutorial.
[2801.5] Jack: That was one of the funniest things ever in my life.
[2804.94] AndyRC: It wasn't so funny when you copied everyone
[2807.18] AndyRC: and wrote a riot into at the posts for some reason.
[2812.62] Tony: That's what Jack does.
[2813.74] Tony: You'll be aware of him.
[2815.9] Jack: I had to send some of your stickers off today.
[2819.02] Tony: Oh yeah.
[2820.86] Jack: Yeah, they're still going.
[2824.78] Jack: I've not many broken even yet, Jack.
[2827.9] Robin Moore: Have you broken even yet?
[2830.14] Jack: Don't know.
[2830.62] Jack: I need Frank to...
[2833.26] Frank: I told you the number you needed to get.
[2836.78] Frank: It's down to you.
[2837.58] Frank: I can't count for you.
[2844.62] Tony: Sorry, Jack, to cut you off for a sec.
[2845.98] Tony: Squeaky, what angle do you fly at, blue owl?
[2849.1] BlueOwl: So it's around 65 degrees.
[2851.66] BlueOwl: It's not quite 70.
[2852.94] BlueOwl: Around 65, up to...
[2855.42] Tony: Mental.
[2856.86] BlueOwl: Not so much.
[2857.42] BlueOwl: No, you can't go backwards.
[2859.9] BlueOwl: No.
[2861.98] Curry: That would be ridiculous.
[2863.26] Curry: 65 degrees.
[2864.3] Curry: Yeah.
[2864.78] AndyRC: That's more sensible.
[2867.42] AndyRC: Well, the landings keep facing a crash to the ground,
[2870.78] AndyRC: the landings, because you cannot see the...
[2873.58] AndyRC: Surely you cannot land that like that without crashing.
[2876.94] BlueOwl: Well, it depends.
[2878.62] BlueOwl: You either have like one spot where you can land,
[2883.02] BlueOwl: like between two trees so that you can see the top of the trees or...
[2891.98] BlueOwl: You just need to make sure that you're alone,
[2893.98] BlueOwl: because otherwise you can fly into somebody you don't see.
[2897.18] BlueOwl: Or you just land line of sight that works most of the time.
[2901.02] BlueOwl: Or you just crash like I do after every flight
[2903.98] BlueOwl: and then you don't have to land.
[2906.06] Tony: So just turn it off.
[2908.78] Tony: Like I do.
[2909.26] BlueOwl: Yeah.
[2912.38] Tony: I'm going to have a go.
[2913.18] AndyRC: I'm going to have a go.
[2915.1] AndyRC: Just have a go at that.
[2916.78] AndyRC: Try it in a city later, Taren.
[2918.62] AndyRC: First, I would.
[2920.46] Tony: But I've got...
[2921.82] Tony: No, I'm just going to go out and try it for real.
[2924.46] Tony: I might do a vlog thing and see how fast.
[2928.22] Tony: Oh, I am.
[2928.78] Tony: Oh, no way.
[2929.66] (Patrons): Straight to the X-Class.
[2931.18] Tony: Yeah, no, no.
[2932.94] Tony: I haven't flown in the X-Class in months, months, months.
[2937.5] Curry: Tony Gates has turned a little bit sinister
[2940.14] Curry: that the biggest point of this one
[2941.5] Curry: was when he pissed on Danny's hand, it would say.
[2944.38] Tony: Inadvertently, I weed on my dog's head
[2948.14] Tony: and then Danny stroked the dog.
[2949.98] Tony: Have you not seen my video frame?
[2955.1] Tony: I was having a wee and the dog stuck her head under
[2958.78] Tony: and I weed on her head.
[2960.3] Tony: I did tell Danny, but he didn't hear me,
[2962.54] Tony: and then he stroked her and got his fingers.
[2969.18] Frank: This was to edit it and publish it on the internet.
[2973.26] Frank: Yes, of course.
[2976.06] Jack: Fine. Is it okay?
[2979.9] Frank: I'm going to change the conversation.
[2983.18] Frank: Robin, what is your current flying setup?
[2987.02] Frank: Are you flying dress-weeps?
[2988.3] Frank: Are you flying anything else?
[2990.46] Robin Moore: I just fly all sorts.
[2992.06] Robin Moore: Like the opposite of Mr. Steel,
[2993.82] Robin Moore: I just fly all sorts of different things at the moment.
[2997.02] Robin Moore: I've just built, I've just stripped out a GoPro
[3001.26] Robin Moore: and I've got one of those Mater 85Xs
[3005.26] Robin Moore: and I'm going to have a go with a naked GoPro on that, I think, next.
[3010.78] Robin Moore: I've also got a seven-inch that I've not finished
[3013.5] Robin Moore: and a six-inch that I've not finished
[3015.18] Robin Moore: and several racing quads I'm experimenting with
[3020.3] Robin Moore: wrap Kevlar around my arms and my racing rigs
[3022.94] Robin Moore: because I'm sick of people breaking them, basically.
[3027.74] Robin Moore: But, yes, I just fly all sorts.
[3030.14] Robin Moore: Where do you race, then?
[3033.1] Robin Moore: A local primary school.
[3034.3] Robin Moore: Let us use their field every now and then.
[3037.02] Robin Moore: But it's not really racing.
[3038.86] Robin Moore: It's just a load of guys messing about on a track.
[3040.78] Robin Moore: It's not anything serious.
[3044.62] Frank: What's the name of the group, though?
[3046.94] Frank: Or are you at the underground?
[3049.9] Robin Moore: Tay FPV.
[3051.66] Robin Moore: Tay's just the area we're in, so it's Tay FPV.
[3055.26] Robin Moore: Nice.
[3057.1] Robin Moore: Back to iGOW.
[3057.98] Robin Moore: I think I do recommend everybody tries iGOW
[3060.38] Robin Moore: because I had to do a load of tricks
[3061.58] Robin Moore: that I wouldn't have actually tried otherwise.
[3064.22] Robin Moore: And I actually roped my girlfriend.
[3066.54] Robin Moore: She flies, but not that often
[3068.94] Robin Moore: because we're just too busy.
[3070.22] Robin Moore: She's got other hobbies.
[3071.5] Robin Moore: So I roped her into it thinking this would be good.
[3073.98] Robin Moore: We get to go out.
[3074.86] Robin Moore: We did get to go out and do stuff together,
[3076.94] Robin Moore: which is really good.
[3078.46] Robin Moore: But also both fighting over,
[3081.34] Robin Moore: trying to get our tricks done as well.
[3083.1] Robin Moore: There was a lot of arguments
[3085.02] Robin Moore: because trying to get both tricks done at the same time.
[3089.98] Tony: I like this from FBSE.
[3093.98] Tony: I think we should all take the 65th degree
[3097.42] Tony: or over challenge and then post results.
[3099.82] Tony: That would be quite...
[3101.02] Jack: I'm definitely going to do it.
[3102.78] Jack: I'm just going to be looking at a top plate
[3105.66] Tony: Yeah, there is that.
[3109.98] Tony: Looking at the bottom of your GoPro.
[3113.58] Frank: To file away a little hole in your top plate.
[3117.74] Tony: I'm going to do it.
[3119.18] Tony: I'm going to do it.
[3120.22] Tony: That's what I'm going to do this weekend.
[3121.74] Tony: I'm going to go up the field
[3123.9] Tony: and do a vloggy type thing.
[3126.22] Tony: But yeah, I think we should do that.
[3129.82] AndyRC: Definitely.
[3130.3] BlueOwl: I like the idea.
[3132.3] AndyRC: How would you accurately measure the angle?
[3134.86] AndyRC: That's what I want to know.
[3140.14] AndyRC: Did someone say attractor or protrector?
[3143.98] AndyRC: Well, you could use attractor tone.
[3145.66] AndyRC: Just get the top of the tracks as well.
[3150.62] AndyRC: Let's measure our angle
[3153.58] AndyRC: where we can see the top of the tractor.
[3156.38] BlueOwl: That's what I heard.
[3159.34] AndyRC: That's what I heard as well.
[3161.74] Robin Moore: Do you think we should do more challenges there?
[3165.18] Frank: We did the one hand whoop challenge
[3167.34] Frank: a couple of years ago, probably.
[3171.42] Frank: We'll do loads of challenges
[3172.54] Curry: and get people sending in all those videos.
[3178.94] Curry: We tried to build something
[3180.22] Curry: and we did a whoop landing.
[3181.66] Curry: There you go.
[3182.22] Curry: That's one a year so far.
[3187.82] Frank: There was one final question I think for Robin
[3192.3] Frank: from Squeaker here.
[3193.42] Frank: What's your whoop setup?
[3195.42] Robin Moore: Yeah, I answered them actually.
[3197.18] Robin Moore: For the iGOW 2, I was using the Meteor 65
[3201.1] Robin Moore: for the small stuff.
[3201.9] Robin Moore: But some of the other tricks,
[3203.74] Robin Moore: you need a lot more power to weight.
[3205.02] Robin Moore: So I had the AE5 Pro 2,
[3208.54] Robin Moore: which is also a bit of FPV.
[3212.38] Curry: So they're quite loose in the whoop definition,
[3214.38] Curry: are they?
[3214.7] Curry: It's like ducted basically.
[3217.74] Robin Moore: Yeah, up to 85 mil, you're allowed.
[3220.7] Robin Moore: And 2S,
[3222.38] Robin Moore: but you can go up to 3S if you also have a HD camera.
[3226.86] Tony: Yeah, what HD camera if it's on a whoop?
[3231.9] Robin Moore: One of those turtle things.
[3234.06] Robin Moore: Or a Tarsi or something like that.
[3235.42] Robin Moore: Oh, I see.
[3236.54] Robin Moore: Yeah, not DJI.
[3238.38] Robin Moore: HDs change its meaning.
[3239.58] Robin Moore: I'll just shove a GoPro on it.
[3241.1] Robin Moore: It'll be fine.
[3241.9] Curry: Just boost the power up a bit.
[3246.46] Frank: GoPro Max on it.
[3248.46] Frank: Yeah.
[3248.96] Frank: Oh well.
[3251.52] Frank: Jack, do you want to announce our guest for next week?
[3256.32] Jack: I believe we've got Greg from E-Wings,
[3259.76] Jack: and I don't know who else.
[3262.24] Jack: I'm very sorry.
[3263.92] Frank: I think it's just Greg from E-Wings as far as I know.
[3266.56] Jack: I thought we were inviting someone else on with him
[3268.88] Jack: to make him feel more chilled out.
[3272.0] Jack: I don't know.
[3272.96] Jack: But I've been chatting to him in the chat.
[3276.16] Tony: So we're talking wings next week then?
[3281.36] Jack: Basically, basically.
[3284.0] Jack: Hopefully he will come on.
[3286.4] Jack: I can't see your reply.
[3290.56] Jack: I don't know.
[3291.68] Jack: I did add him, but hopefully we chat to him.
[3297.6] Frank: We've got to cancel him for next week anyway.
[3300.56] Jack: Or sort of Black Hawk that he's come out with
[3304.88] Jack: all the new lovely wings and stuff.
[3306.88] Jack: So me and Curry will be fapping ourselves to death.
[3310.72] Jack: Are we allowed to do that?
[3311.52] Jack: Yes.
[3313.2] Frank: Yes.
[3314.0] Frank: I think so.
[3316.72] Frank: I think that pretty much brings us up to the hour
[3318.96] Frank: if you want to call us out, Jack.
[3320.96] Jack: No worries. Thank you.
[3322.48] Jack: Thanks for listening to Lectro now.
[3324.16] Jack: Being a massive thank you for all our patreons.
[3326.96] Jack: We will need more patreons because Andy RC's riders
[3331.44] Jack: get more and more ridiculous each and every week.
[3335.2] Jack: Great.
[3337.92] Jack: I'm trying to say him to call me tomorrow.
[3340.56] Jack: So if anyone else would like to buy any of my stickers
[3344.24] Jack: and help me fund my Andy RC addiction, feel free.
[3348.96] Jack: But anyway, you've been listening to Lectro now.
[3351.6] Jack: Thank you.
[3353.92] Jack: We have been joined by the beautiful, wonderful Blue Owl.
[3359.2] BlueOwl: Bye everyone.
[3360.4] Jack: Everyone's favorite Curry kitten.
[3362.72] Jack: Goodbye.
[3365.04] Jack: Robin FEV from the chat.
[3367.36] Robin Moore: Bye.
[3368.96] Jack: What a legend.
[3370.16] Jack: I hope you have many, many enjoyments of being closer than 150 meters, my friend.
[3378.24] Jack: Everyone's favorite liability, Andy RC.
[3380.88] AndyRC: Just drink my rider here.
[3384.24] AndyRC: Good evening, Ron.
[3386.96] Jack: Let me know your PayPal so I can pay for your money so you can call me tomorrow.
[3392.4] Jack: Don't make me ask.
[3393.52] Jack: You know who?
[3396.4] Jack: Tell you to call me.
[3400.0] Jack: Speaking of her, my lovely wife, my little Tony.
[3405.04] Jack: Our lord and over master.
[3406.72] Jack: Thank you for paying the editor today.
[3409.12] Frank: He's welcome.
[3409.84] Curry: My name's Peter, actually.
[3411.68] Jack: Andrew Frank.
[3413.68] Jack: Bye.
[3414.8] Jack: Thank you all our patreons.
[3416.64] Jack: I love you guys and everyone who donates to this silly program.
[3420.96] Jack: I've been frightened until I howl and thank you and good night.
[3425.92] BlueOwl: Bye.
