=====================================

[0.0] Curry: Welcome to Let's Drone Out, the original and best drone themed podcast.
[5.0] Curry: We record the show live on the Thursday night on youtube.com forward slash Let's Drone Out
[10.0] Curry: and our lovely patrons help with the editing costs.
[12.0] (Patrons): These are Wacky Wes, Mikey Dread, Art Faulkner, Carlos Campos.
[19.0] (Patrons): Thank you.
[20.0] Jack: Hello and welcome to Let's Drone Out.
[55.51] Jack: The year is 2025 and all of my little co-hosts, my favourite little co-hosts,
[65.51] Jack: my vegan sausage because veganism has been strictly enforced by the government
[70.51] Jack: and all these heteronormative things of use and ideals have all been dissolved
[76.51] Jack: and we're actually husband and wife.
[79.51] Jack: We now live on a farm, not quite in Texas, more Ohio,
[85.51] Jack: and we raise sheep crossbred with dolphins.
[89.51] Jack: It's my little bonjour sausage, Tony.
[94.51] Tony: For sure.
[97.51] Jack: And the rock star of the universe, the sexiest man voted 2024.
[106.51] Jack: N.J. Tech.
[108.51] NJ: Hello everyone from 2020 to 2025.
[113.51] NJ: Yes, the future.
[115.51] NJ: In the future.
[117.51] Jack: If you haven't already, on Q magazine there is an article on how does N.J. get his teeth so white?
[123.51] Jack: Please check that out.
[125.51] Jack: They've had me a fortune for that.
[127.51] NJ: Yeah.
[128.51] NJ: The problem is, I've got to say, we all can't afford to decorate our rooms in the last five years.
[135.51] Frank: What we've done, we're actually all on green screens and we've just put on a retro scenes behind us.
[141.51] Tony: I remember this t-shirt I used to wear all the time.
[145.51] Tony: So retro, you tell me.
[147.51] Frank: I remember that before you burnt it off, yeah.
[149.51] Jack: Yes, the evolution right there.
[152.51] Jack: The controller of the universe, the head of CAA, Andrew slash Frank.
[157.51] Frank: Good evening.
[159.51] Jack: And Let's Drone It Out got dissolved by a better podcast called Drone Is Life and is now owned by Aries.
[167.51] Jack: Hello Aries.
[169.51] Jack: Good evening.
[170.51] Aries: How are you doing?
[171.51] Jack: And I died of bowel cancer.
[173.51] Jack: I'm not quite sure.
[175.51] Jack: I was taking astro projection.
[177.51] Tony: Do you remember Granddad in that dream that Granddad was in a big thing on Delboy and he falls in office and they brought him back.
[188.51] Tony: That's you.
[189.51] Tony: This is what we've done to Jack.
[191.51] Frank: I'm just really glad that they got the AI simulation technology working before Jack dies.
[198.51] Frank: We did 10 years of LDO a couple of months ago.
[208.51] Frank: I can't believe it's been 10 years.
[211.51] Frank: Yeah, I know.
[213.51] Frank: I want a divorce.
[215.51] Frank: We did that mainly remastering old episodes.
[219.51] Frank: So we thought this show will go back over the past 10 years of FPV tech instead because, you know, it's moved on a lot.
[229.51] Frank: And we just thought it's nice to go back now and then just remember how much things have changed.
[234.51] Frank: So for the 2025 round up of the FPV technology developments, that is what we'll be covering this evening.
[246.51] Frank: So, I mean, I think the biggest one that we've got to talk about is the latest type train that Tony's jumped on, which is the WIPO, the wireless power.
[258.51] Frank: It's amazing.
[260.51] Tony: I've gone really far with it already now.
[263.51] Aries: Yeah.
[264.51] Aries: Again, like four or five hours flight time and a five inch mini quad is ridiculous.
[268.51] Tony: It gets boring, to be honest.
[271.51] Aries: And you just your cruising rounds, you know, your ultra 4K HD, you know, you've got that complete vision of everything.
[281.51] Aries: You can see Nats just right past your head is amazing.
[286.51] Jack: Being into your eyeballs.
[288.51] NJ: Do you remember that massive lawsuit as well that they had a problem with the name WIPO?
[296.51] NJ: That big lawsuit with Andrex because they copyrighted it.
[302.51] NJ: I'm glad I'm glad we got it.
[304.51] NJ: Because who doesn't want WIPO in their drones?
[308.51] Jack: And in 2023, Tony had to flee the UK.
[313.51] Jack: That's why we've moved.
[315.51] Jack: We don't talk about that.
[317.51] Aries: He's in an undisclosed country right now.
[319.51] Aries: Come on, he's VPN to death.
[322.51] Jack: I really do think after 10 years of saying Tony did Gatwick, the police finally believe us.
[330.51] Frank: I never did find anyone, did they?
[335.51] Aries: Gatwick's now just a mole.
[340.51] Aries: It's been a mole for years, Tony.
[343.51] Jack: You don't get out much between the sheep and the dolphin.
[348.51] Jack: So, Aries, what else are we going to talk about?
[351.51] Jack: You're the podcast master.
[353.51] Jack: Oh, no.
[356.51] Aries: I've taken a back seat for the day.
[359.51] Frank: Tony, are you enjoying not having to worry about charging stuff anymore?
[364.51] Tony: It's brilliant.
[365.51] Tony: You just fly and you can see your battery going up as you're flying.
[370.51] Tony: 4.2, 4.8, it just stays there.
[373.51] Tony: You never hit the 3.8 or so.
[376.51] Tony: It's just permanently there.
[378.51] Tony: The only thing I don't like is the beam width.
[380.51] Tony: It's a bit small.
[381.51] Tony: If you go fly out of that beam width, the battery level drops down.
[385.51] Tony: It's only when you fly back into the path.
[388.51] NJ: I hate to be a stickler, but you do remember it's 4.0.8 per cell, right?
[395.51] Aries: I think 4.8, was it 4.8S?
[398.51] Aries: That's a pretty early adopter.
[400.51] NJ: Yeah.
[401.51] NJ: That's some old-school voltage you're referencing there, Tony.
[404.51] Tony: Tony's always living in jail.
[406.51] Tony: Get confused.
[408.51] Tony: We don't need volts anymore.
[410.51] Tony: I am 59 now.
[412.51] Frank: I moved on from the lithium-air batteries that we were using two or three years ago
[418.51] Frank: onto the super capacitors.
[420.51] Frank: They're working out fine for me.
[423.51] Frank: You still have to charge them, but they're still nowhere near as bad.
[426.51] Frank: I mean, do you remember LiPo's?
[428.51] Frank: Are you able to balance those?
[430.51] Frank: I used to catch fire.
[432.51] Jack: What's that?
[433.51] Jack: On your finger.
[436.51] Tony: They caught fire all the time.
[438.51] Tony: That's why I didn't like them.
[440.51] Tony: That was my favourite thing about that.
[443.51] Aries: Do you know what?
[444.51] Aries: I mess about them, right?
[446.51] Aries: When you're cruising along, remember when DJI FPV was a thing all those years ago.
[452.51] Aries: You were just getting used to high-definition footage,
[455.51] Aries: and you would just go out and fly,
[457.51] Aries: and you wouldn't even look at your voltage or your mile.
[459.51] Aries: You'd just go out and fly and enjoy the view.
[461.51] Aries: Then you get to the point where you just feel the power drop,
[463.51] Aries: and then your quad would just fall out the sky.
[465.51] Aries: You don't get up with these new batteries.
[467.51] Frank: Yeah, I mean, that was back with the light.
[470.51] Frank: We're charging them at 10C, you'd be called a maniac.
[474.51] Frank: I mean...
[475.51] Frank: I know.
[476.51] Frank: No, that's...
[477.51] Frank: C ratings, that's a plus.
[478.51] Aries: I know, like two years ago.
[480.51] Tony: I've got video of me charging it.
[482.51] Tony: I think it was 20.
[484.51] Tony: 20C on a 1600.
[486.51] Tony: Do you remember them?
[487.51] Tony: 1600 Li-Pose, I used to have.
[489.51] Tony: Five minutes flat, done.
[493.51] Frank: And that was when we were thinking like five minutes was quick.
[496.51] Frank: I mean, now we get annoyed when we have to wait 30 seconds for a super capacitor.
[501.51] Tony: 30 seconds is just too much.
[504.51] Jack: How is your new ARM processor in your PC, N.J.?
[509.51] NJ: Oh, it's incredible.
[510.51] NJ: Yeah, that ARM...
[513.51] NJ: Who would have thought ARM would take over the world like that?
[516.51] NJ: I know.
[517.51] NJ: Buried-in tail AMD.
[518.51] NJ: Do you remember those old...
[521.51] Frank: Do you remember Google?
[522.51] Frank: That was a thing.
[525.51] Aries: For a long time.
[527.51] Aries: I'm just thinking to myself there, but what was Google?
[530.51] Aries: That was like a search engine, right?
[532.51] Aries: It was like a search engine, yeah.
[534.51] Aries: Six years ago, something like that.
[535.51] Aries: You just have to have a laptop and everything.
[537.51] Aries: I know.
[538.51] Jack: It's like an Xscape over here.
[543.51] Frank: I actually started searching for things.
[545.51] Frank: Yeah.
[546.51] Frank: There were different web pages that you moved between and it was a weird time.
[550.51] Jack: The only problem with this is that these are polarized sunglasses,
[556.51] Jack: so it's messing up the screens in my eyes.
[559.51] Aries: Like old school glasses.
[561.51] Aries: Have they not fixed that yet?
[562.51] Aries: Is that still the beta release?
[564.51] Jack: I don't know what it is.
[565.51] Jack: It depends what this old tart Tony bought for me.
[569.51] Aries: Oh, Tony undisclosed location, guys and girls.
[574.51] Aries: Harvesting that new beta tech.
[577.51] UNKNOWN: Shh.
[578.51] Aries: You have to play a new game for it.
[580.51] Aries: Remember how beta flight was a thing?
[583.51] Aries: It's just flight now.
[585.51] Aries: Not flight one, it's just flight.
[587.51] Aries: They've actually gone legit.
[589.51] Aries: They're running flight.
[591.51] Aries: They're just running flight.
[592.51] Tony: I'm just running F.
[596.51] Jack: All you people in the past, they're like a Dyson air fan now.
[600.51] Jack: We've got bladeless.
[602.51] Jack: You can put your penis right in the middle.
[608.51] Frank: Amazing.
[609.51] Frank: I mean, PID loops.
[611.51] Frank: I'm glad they're gone.
[613.51] Frank: Oh, God.
[614.51] Jack: Yeah.
[616.51] Jack: Just does it on the fly, doesn't it?
[618.51] Jack: Yeah.
[619.51] Frank: I mean, again, I mean, you should know being an artificial intelligence,
[622.51] Frank: like all the machine learning stuff just made everything easy.
[626.51] Aries: You just tell it what you want to do and it'll do it.
[629.51] Aries: I heard Jack was part of that original adopter program.
[633.51] Aries: He's still got a few thumbs.
[635.51] Aries: A little bit of P from him, a little bit of I from him and a little bit of D.
[638.51] Aries: And they're just lots of D.
[640.51] Jack: I don't know what you want to know about little.
[644.51] Tony: You still got the bugs going on.
[646.51] Tony: You know, the twitch in the head thing.
[648.51] Tony: Yeah.
[649.51] Jack: I haven't seen it.
[651.51] Jack: I later on, I've got my after after the hour.
[656.51] Jack: I've got my special Merry Christmas present from my mum.
[662.51] Jack: Do you remember when Christmas was a thing?
[666.51] NJ: The other day, I was looking back through and seeing some of the screenshots
[670.51] Frank: from Curry's Sim from like five, six years ago.
[674.51] Frank: And I remember when Sims were like on a screen.
[679.51] Frank: Yeah.
[680.51] Frank: I heard Curry's is no like, it's no like being reverse engineered.
[684.51] Frank: Yeah.
[685.51] Frank: Yeah.
[686.51] Frank: Yeah.
[687.51] Frank: Yeah.
[688.51] Frank: Yeah.
[689.51] Aries: Yeah.
[690.51] Aries: I heard Curry's is no like it's no like being reverse engineered, you know,
[695.51] Aries: over those years.
[696.51] Aries: And now you just like press a button on your desk comes through and you're
[701.51] Aries: flying curry cutting style.
[702.51] Aries: It's just ridiculous.
[703.51] Frank: Not even at the desk.
[704.51] Frank: I mean, like most of the time that we're all flying together,
[707.51] Frank: just like each of us in our own field and you just stick the box down and
[712.51] Frank: you're just all flying together.
[713.51] Frank: But virtually, I mean, it's the best way of doing it.
[716.51] Frank: Really.
[717.51] Tony: I mean, that's the only way I do it with him.
[721.51] Tony: You know what I mean?
[722.51] Jack: You stay out of my type D connector.
[726.51] Jack: Thank you very much.
[729.51] Jack: That is.
[730.51] Tony: I'll be back in a minute.
[734.51] Tony: Go and feed the dolphins.
[738.51] Frank: As anyone in the chat got any suggestions for their favorite tech
[743.51] Frank: development from the past 10 years now that it's 2025 and we're having
[748.51] Frank: that look back.
[749.51] Frank: If there's anyone's favorite developments, then let us know about that.
[754.51] Jack: It's 2018 right now.
[757.51] Jack: UTC.
[759.51] Jack: We go by Zulu now everywhere.
[763.51] Jack: We've done away with that.
[767.05] Jack: No, I haven't finally sold my stickers.
[769.05] Jack: They're in a warehouse somewhere.
[774.05] Aries: I remember when, what year was that?
[778.05] Aries: 2019.
[780.05] Aries: That stupid virus that lasted a while.
[784.05] Aries: You stopped all of manufacturing across the world.
[787.05] Aries: It was ridiculous.
[790.05] Aries: We don't need to worry about that now.
[792.05] Aries: Manufacturing everywhere.
[794.05] Frank: I mean, what about motor tech?
[796.05] Frank: I mean, there was the problem with the neodymium shortage.
[801.05] Frank: We had just no magnets for almost a year.
[804.05] Jack: Well, otherwise.
[807.05] NJ: Well, all right.
[818.62] NJ: Of course, we are referring back to a time when physical air was needed
[825.86] NJ: to produce thrust.
[827.86] NJ: Props are a thing.
[830.86] NJ: Archaic technology of rotating stuff to make stuff go up.
[836.86] Frank: All the ionic stuff just worked so much better.
[839.86] Jack: The ion drives are brilliant.
[841.86] Jack: I've had a quick look around my room to find the oldest thing.
[845.86] Jack: You know you've got dinosaurs like that.
[848.86] Jack: Before they were dolphin sheep.
[851.86] Jack: I have got this.
[853.86] Jack: It's worth millions.
[855.86] Jack: It's a dib-dab.
[857.86] NJ: Oh my God, is that an original?
[859.86] Jack: Yep.
[861.86] NJ: Shouldn't that be behind glass?
[864.86] Aries: Well, you don't need glass in this day and age, right?
[867.86] Aries: This option's not going to deteriorate any products these days
[871.86] Aries: just because science is in the future.
[874.86] Aries: Look at that.
[876.86] Aries: I know, look.
[879.86] Jack: This is even older than stodim ram.
[885.86] Jack: I mean, remember this?
[887.86] Frank: Mm-hmm.
[888.86] Jack: It doesn't even remember this.
[890.86] Jack: It's only two gig.
[892.86] Frank: I mean, that's quite two gig.
[894.86] NJ: Thanks for the computer, now I need.
[896.86] NJ: Clive in the chat has mentioned, obviously, how great
[899.86] NJ: unobtanium frames are.
[901.86] Aries: Yeah.
[902.86] Aries: Everything's not harvested in that moon.
[906.86] Aries: Getting deep to the core.
[908.86] Aries: It's unobtanium, no, obtainable.
[912.86] Frank: All the plastic regulations coming in, you know,
[915.86] Frank: because we used to use all the, like, I mean,
[918.86] Frank: we had the 3D printed carts.
[920.86] Frank: The carbon fiber reinforced plastic.
[923.86] Tony: You remember you used to work in 3D printing
[926.86] Tony: before you took over the world.
[929.86] Frank: I lasted that long, I'll never know.
[931.86] Frank: But, yeah, we like the plastic stuff.
[934.86] Frank: Obviously.
[936.86] Frank: Ooh, you'd get fine for showing that off to you, Matt.
[940.86] Frank: Wow.
[942.86] Frank: Keep that under wraps.
[944.86] Frank: But, yeah, I mean.
[946.86] Frank: We knew plastics were a problem,
[949.86] Frank: so it's not surprising.
[951.86] Frank: But, you know, there was a moment there
[954.86] Frank: where it looked like they were going to struggle a bit.
[957.86] Frank: But now that we've got the unobtanium,
[959.86] Frank: it makes it a lot easier.
[961.86] Tony: Magic pencil brings up the FBV satellites
[964.86] Tony: that we all forgot about.
[966.86] Frank: Yeah.
[967.86] Frank: Well, again, it's all down to those ionic engines,
[969.86] Frank: isn't it?
[970.86] Frank: I mean, once you can have something that doesn't even
[972.86] Frank: have to worry about your current air speeds,
[974.86] Frank: then all the cheap, easy rockets.
[978.86] Frank: I mean, all that time, decades spent on chemical rockets,
[981.86] Frank: and then we get to the ionic stuff,
[983.86] Frank: and just like anyone in the garden
[986.86] Frank: can just launch something up into space
[988.86] Frank: with a WIPO, you know?
[990.86] Frank: I don't know.
[991.86] NJ: The WIPO is the best.
[993.86] NJ: Obviously, it's a good job we can do all this
[995.86] NJ: from our garden being in tier 26.
[997.86] Jack: I'm not saying it's in a jail.
[1003.86] Jack: We call it rehab now.
[1006.86] Aries: Yeah.
[1007.86] Aries: He got released, didn't he, on good behavior
[1009.86] Aries: a couple of years into his stint?
[1011.86] Aries: As long as he didn't really quote,
[1014.86] Aries: you know, that E-Max brand too often.
[1017.86] Aries: No, it was him.
[1019.86] UNKNOWN: Yeah.
[1020.86] Tony: Well, did they call themselves now?
[1023.86] Tony: G-Max or something.
[1026.86] Tony: Z-Max, was it?
[1028.86] Tony: I can't remember.
[1029.86] Tony: How do you feel about everyone being able
[1032.86] Tony: to play the guitar as well as you now,
[1034.86] Tony: N.J., with the old bionic arm upload?
[1037.86] Tony: Oh, yes.
[1038.86] NJ: The arm and finger.
[1041.86] NJ: Yeah.
[1042.86] NJ: It's quite amazing.
[1044.86] NJ: Nothing like a real thing.
[1046.86] NJ: I don't remember.
[1047.86] NJ: My turn ashes were there.
[1049.86] Tony: I've worked wonders for my sex life.
[1053.86] Aries: There was a lot of strumming happening.
[1060.86] Tony: I think they often carry on.
[1062.86] Tony: We've done so many.
[1063.86] Tony: I know.
[1064.86] Tony: I'm struggling.
[1065.86] Tony: I'm struggling.
[1066.86] NJ: Yeah.
[1067.86] NJ: I think we're at the end.
[1068.86] NJ: N.J.'s got it.
[1069.86] NJ: We're on tire.
[1070.86] NJ: N.J.'s got it.
[1071.86] NJ: R.C. says,
[1072.86] NJ: Le Drib died of eyeliner poisoning.
[1074.86] NJ: Well, that's a great thing.
[1077.86] Frank: Tony, can you at least this week,
[1080.86] Frank: in 2025, admit that the Mars landings were real?
[1084.86] Tony: No, Guy.
[1085.86] Tony: Elon did it.
[1086.86] Tony: Well done.
[1088.86] Tony: Well done.
[1089.86] Tony: Oh, no.
[1090.86] Tony: Sorry.
[1091.86] Tony: Elon passed away on that tragic first trip to Mars.
[1096.86] Tony: Yeah.
[1097.86] Tony: Which was just as well.
[1098.86] NJ: Because obviously he was going to be going to jail
[1100.86] NJ: because they recovered the tesla he fired into space
[1102.86] NJ: and there was a dead hooker in the back.
[1105.86] NJ: It wasn't me.
[1106.86] NJ: I knew he was up to safety.
[1108.86] Tony: I just put him in the woods.
[1110.86] Jack: Not anymore.
[1111.86] Jack: All the woods are gone.
[1113.86] Jack: We've got a treat.
[1117.86] Tony: Bloody hell.
[1118.86] Tony: We've got to do this for four hours.
[1121.86] Tony: No, I can't.
[1123.86] Tony: I can't.
[1124.86] Tony: I've managed 18 minutes.
[1126.86] Jack: So I've just printed off, with my mind,
[1129.86] Jack: the new sticker.
[1131.86] Tony: With my mind.
[1132.86] Jack: And it is Mars landing.
[1136.86] Aries: And Barbara learned everything.
[1138.86] Jack: It stopped.
[1144.86] Jack: Get your landing is real.
[1150.86] NJ: I love your thing.
[1152.86] NJ: Richard Warwick's mention of scanners.
[1155.86] NJ: He's showing your age there, Richard.
[1157.86] NJ: That's a proper old school film.
[1160.86] NJ: That was quite scary though.
[1162.86] NJ: The TV series.
[1164.86] NJ: Sliders.
[1166.86] Jack: Was that like quantum leap?
[1168.86] Jack: Oh, my God.
[1170.86] Jack: That's an old one.
[1172.86] Tony: He used to get his little rubies.
[1176.86] Tony: Ziggy said this.
[1178.86] Tony: Hold on.
[1179.86] Tony: Let me spark up when I was a girl.
[1182.86] Frank: Yeah.
[1183.86] Tony: That's it.
[1185.86] Frank: Just thinking back to the very beginning of getting back into the hobby.
[1190.86] Frank: I mean, the first thing I bought really for FPV was a radio, the Taranis.
[1201.86] Frank: Oh, man.
[1202.86] Frank: Everyone had one of those back in the day.
[1204.86] NJ: Not ringing any bells.
[1207.86] NJ: Surely.
[1208.86] Frank: Yeah.
[1209.86] Frank: A little brick thing with the two little sticks.
[1211.86] Frank: You remember those?
[1212.86] Jack: Yeah.
[1213.86] Jack: Now, some people were even worse than that.
[1215.86] Jack: Some Neanderthals were on this spectrum thing.
[1218.86] Jack: And it's for people who didn't like flying or staying in the air too long.
[1223.86] Jack: It was like ADHD, but signal strength.
[1229.86] NJ: I've asked what's it like running the world's CAA?
[1233.86] Frank: I mean, you know, for the first few years, it was a bit tricky.
[1236.86] Frank: But it's easy now that we've automated everything.
[1239.86] Frank: There's just bits sending new rules to each other, other bits saying there's rules of
[1244.86] Frank: crap and then just keeping on going around that circle.
[1246.86] Frank: It's easy money.
[1247.86] Jack: What about the Coke and stripper parties at the end of the year?
[1252.86] Jack: How are you surviving that?
[1253.86] Jack: How's your heart still going?
[1256.86] Frank: It hasn't.
[1257.86] Frank: I've had a replacement for about three years.
[1260.86] Aries: Yeah.
[1261.86] Aries: You got that Curry's replacement warranty, right?
[1265.86] Aries: Yeah.
[1266.86] Aries: Yeah.
[1267.86] Aries: That was a few extra.
[1268.86] Aries: But, you know, it could keep you going.
[1270.86] Aries: It dies.
[1271.86] Aries: Sorry, you've got internet.
[1272.86] Aries: Grab a new one.
[1274.86] Jack: Clive says, does Jack have three breasts?
[1278.86] Jack: You're chugging on my thing.
[1280.86] Tony: Total recall.
[1282.86] Aries: I know.
[1283.86] Tony: Total recall, mate.
[1285.86] Tony: You've seen total recall, right?
[1287.86] Tony: I don't think it happened.
[1289.86] Tony: We've got 48 people watching.
[1291.86] Tony: We're talking about three breasts.
[1292.86] Tony: I'm really sorry everyone.
[1295.86] NJ: I just wondered how confused anyone who joined this late introduction.
[1300.86] Aries: What?
[1301.86] Aries: Oh, Clive and with the three shells.
[1303.86] Aries: The three seashells in the bathroom.
[1306.86] NJ: I think the three shells thing is the most kind of threaded
[1310.86] NJ: amongst all the sci-fi films.
[1312.86] NJ: That one thing seems to have made its way into so many films.
[1319.86] Jack: But how does it work?
[1321.86] Jack: Because I just get the old dice in there
[1323.86] Jack: and then just stick it on the end and then just...
[1327.86] Jack: Uber out.
[1328.86] Tony: Can't believe he's still alive.
[1330.86] Tony: 205 years, isn't he?
[1332.86] Tony: He went into a few.
[1333.86] Tony: I've gained a few years.
[1334.86] Tony: Come back.
[1335.86] Tony: Oh, Mr Dyson.
[1337.86] Jack: Right.
[1338.86] Jack: We've made it to the half hour mark.
[1340.86] Jack: Right, that do.
[1341.86] Tony: I can't do it anymore.
[1343.86] Jack: You want to do a bit of news.
[1346.86] Tony: I've seen a picture of the new DJI.
[1350.86] Tony: Action.
[1352.86] Tony: Goggles.
[1354.86] Tony: Not much difference.
[1355.86] Tony: Only a picture.
[1356.86] Frank: Are we back in 2020 now?
[1357.86] Tony: We're back in the real menu.
[1359.86] Aries: Yeah, yeah.
[1360.86] Aries: We're back to 2020.
[1362.86] Tony: Hopefully it'll be 2021 soon.
[1364.86] Tony: I don't know.
[1365.86] Tony: We've got another four years.
[1366.86] Tony: Andrew Newton's awake.
[1368.86] Tony: Sending me.
[1369.86] Tony: Hi.
[1370.86] Tony: Hi.
[1371.86] Tony: It should be.
[1372.86] Tony: I've just seen New Zealand celebrating.
[1375.86] Tony: All outside hugging each other and stuff.
[1378.86] Tony: It was so weird to watch.
[1380.86] Aries: Just wait.
[1381.86] Aries: They'll be the next thing in the news.
[1383.86] Aries: Coronavirus 2021 starts in New Zealand.
[1386.86] Tony: Oh, don't.
[1388.86] Tony: I don't know.
[1389.86] Tony: I'm bored of it now.
[1390.86] Tony: I don't know.
[1391.86] Aries: Yeah, we all are, mate.
[1392.86] Tony: We all are.
[1393.86] Tony: I've had enough of it.
[1395.86] Tony: Yeah, so I've seen a picture of them.
[1398.86] Tony: Can't tell you anything, really.
[1399.86] Tony: They look a little bit different.
[1400.86] Tony: Looks like they've worked on the face plate a bit more.
[1403.86] Tony: Make it a bit more.
[1404.86] Aries: Yeah, there's not many changes that I've noticed.
[1407.86] Tony: Have you seen the picture?
[1409.86] Aries: Yeah.
[1410.86] Tony: Yeah.
[1411.86] Tony: Have you seen any write-up or anything about them?
[1415.86] Aries: Literally, I'm talking Chinese.
[1418.86] Jack: All right, lads.
[1419.86] Jack: Are you ready for this?
[1421.86] Frank: I don't know.
[1422.86] Frank: What is it?
[1423.86] Frank: May or may not be.
[1424.86] Frank: DJ is trying to mute him.
[1429.86] Aries: Oh, possibly.
[1431.86] Jack: Right.
[1432.86] Jack: So I don't know how legit this is, right?
[1435.86] Jack: But, Frank, you go for it.
[1438.86] Jack: Say what you say.
[1439.86] Jack: Is this a real place, the cyber security infrastructure
[1443.86] Jack: and security agency?
[1444.86] Jack: Or is this a made-up thing?
[1446.86] Aries: Well, it's an official website of the United States government.
[1450.86] Frank: So it seems that way, but I don't recognize it.
[1454.86] Frank: No.
[1456.86] Jack: So I don't either.
[1459.86] Tony: Is it still bad?
[1460.86] Frank: The PDF warning people, like, if you see a drone with wires on it,
[1466.86] Frank: then it's probably explosive.
[1468.86] Jack: Well, yeah, that's right.
[1470.86] Jack: Recognize this is UAS.
[1474.86] Jack: And apparently, if you've got additional batteries attached,
[1479.86] Jack: excessive tape, the concealer to the back,
[1484.86] Jack: that's a newbie's first one.
[1487.86] Jack: Registration number at three millimeters.
[1491.86] Jack: Unintended, grounded USS.
[1494.86] Frank: Light battery attached to it.
[1496.86] Frank: Then it's obviously explosive.
[1498.86] NJ: Have they got a picture of what they think and explain it?
[1504.86] NJ: That's what, really?
[1506.86] Frank: Yep.
[1507.86] Frank: They're saying that is what a dangerous drone is.
[1510.86] NJ: That looks like a very normal drone to me.
[1514.86] NJ: In other words, any drone that's built by a hobbyist.
[1517.86] NJ: Yeah.
[1518.86] NJ: I would agree.
[1520.86] Jack: Apparently, we can do a retail quadcopter.
[1523.86] Jack: We do up to three miles and zero to three pounds, whatever that is.
[1528.86] Jack: 70 feet.
[1530.86] Jack: Distance preferred.
[1532.86] Jack: So plus 1,200 feet.
[1535.86] Jack: Preferred?
[1536.86] Jack: This is ridiculous.
[1538.86] Jack: Who wrote this?
[1539.86] Jack: That's nuts.
[1540.86] Jack: This is even more nuttier than the stuff that you come out with in 2025, Frank.
[1547.86] Frank: I'll take that as a compliment.
[1550.86] Aries: You and your regulations back then.
[1552.86] Aries: I know.
[1555.86] NJ: What was the lipo, mate?
[1557.86] NJ: Sorry, scroll up.
[1558.86] NJ: I just wanted to see.
[1559.86] NJ: It looked like a flight tech.
[1561.86] NJ: What is it?
[1562.86] Jack: It's ready-made.
[1565.86] Jack: I wonder if they're okay with them.
[1567.86] Jack: Yeah.
[1568.86] NJ: I was about to say, that's like surely that's...
[1573.86] NJ: Definitely the character.
[1575.86] NJ: It's got next T60.
[1578.86] Jack: It's going to blow.
[1580.86] NJ: I think they'd be quite upset to know that they're part of the reference image.
[1585.86] Jack: Look at it, man.
[1587.86] Jack: How many ferrite magnets?
[1590.86] Jack: Ferrite cords.
[1592.86] Tony: No, that's the wipe-o.
[1597.86] Aries: Yeah, it's that wipe-o ring.
[1600.86] NJ: That's it.
[1601.86] NJ: Wipe-o receiver.
[1603.86] Jack: Look at that, man.
[1604.86] Jack: They've got a...
[1605.86] Jack: What camera is that?
[1606.86] Jack: Is that run cam?
[1607.86] Jack: It looks like a run cam.
[1609.86] Aries: Yeah, it looks like an eagle.
[1610.86] Jack: I don't know what this is.
[1612.86] Jack: That's the C4.
[1614.86] Aries: It's something wrong with the trying to wall-raid.
[1618.86] Aries: I don't know, right?
[1620.86] Jack: We're looking at pretty much a standard...
[1624.86] Jack: Very standard.
[1625.86] Jack: Yeah, very, very standard DIY.
[1628.86] Jack: Sort of, you know, back in the day circa...
[1631.86] Jack: 2015.
[1632.86] Jack: Flat pancake motors.
[1634.86] Tony: Any police see this and then turn up to any FPV...
[1639.86] Tony: Race, freestyle event, whatever.
[1642.86] Tony: It looks like the person.
[1644.86] Tony: So it's got like...
[1646.86] NJ: Those aren't lights taped over.
[1648.86] NJ: That's just some looming of some wires.
[1651.86] NJ: I know, yeah.
[1652.86] NJ: Seriously, how is this an official document?
[1654.86] NJ: This is horrific.
[1656.86] Jack: Like, you know, you tape your ESCs to the frame.
[1660.86] Jack: But, yeah, it's like a standard quadcopter platform.
[1665.86] Jack: It looks like someone didn't realise that you're going to put the FPV screen on the transmitter.
[1672.86] Jack: It's down where you are.
[1674.86] Jack: I don't know what that is.
[1676.86] Tony: I think it is a claim.
[1678.86] Tony: It says, attach or conceal possible expensive polo.
[1682.86] Tony: Hold on.
[1683.86] Aries: Let's check the source on this page.
[1686.86] Jack: I don't know whether this is real or not, but...
[1689.86] Jack: I saw it on the internet.
[1691.86] Jack: It's worryingly on the internet for people to believe.
[1694.86] Jack: Terrifying.
[1697.86] Frank: Yeah.
[1698.86] Frank: Speaking of terrifying,
[1700.86] Frank: has anyone even tried to read the new regulations that are going to be in power in 3 hours and 20 minutes?
[1711.86] Jack: I'd rather punch myself in the dick.
[1714.86] NJ: Have you got the too long didn't read version there, Frank, shall we?
[1719.86] Frank: The too long didn't read version is that it was too long and I didn't read it.
[1724.86] Jack: Wow.
[1725.86] Jack: I like this new Frank.
[1727.86] Jack: The CIA have done wonders in 2025.
[1731.86] Jack: He's not officially...
[1733.86] Tony: We've all got to get our own.
[1735.86] Tony: We've all got to get our BMFA insurance as front and front.
[1739.86] Jack: Oh no, don't we need to read the disclaimer?
[1742.86] Jack: Anything we do so...
[1743.86] Jack: Oh God, yes.
[1744.86] Jack: We've given it everything.
[1746.86] Jack: Leaky bollocks.
[1748.86] Frank: Any views expressed by any guests on this show are personal and may not reflect the views of others.
[1754.86] Jack: I mean...
[1755.86] Jack: More the show.
[1757.86] Frank: Please don't sue us.
[1758.86] NJ: I swear that keeps getting shorter and shorter and shorter and eventually it's just going to say,
[1763.86] NJ: don't listen to anything we say.
[1765.86] NJ: That's pretty much all it needs to say.
[1767.86] Frank: This episode was recorded in front of a live online audience,
[1770.86] Frank: downloaded and edited to make sense when it played audio only,
[1773.86] Frank: censored to please the iTunes people, hosted on the internet,
[1776.86] Frank: forwarded through to your podcast provider,
[1778.86] Frank: downloaded, playing on your device and is now playing in your ears.
[1782.86] Frank: All thanks to our Patreons.
[1784.86] Frank: Consider joining them and you'll also get other online benefits.
[1787.86] Frank: Find out more at patreon.com forward slash let's drone out.
[1792.86] Jack: Have you been quite much Harry's like...
[1796.86] Jack: Because you're used to absolute weather.
[1798.86] Jack: So, you know, being from Scotland,
[1801.86] Jack: the only thing that's not below water.
[1803.86] Jack: Other than Wales.
[1804.86] Jack: Right.
[1805.86] Aries: Literally, I've had this thing since like almost the beginning of December.
[1810.86] Aries: Right.
[1811.86] Aries: It's a QAVS quad.
[1812.86] Aries: Available from Drone is Life.
[1814.86] Aries: Don't care if you can.
[1815.86] Aries: Right.
[1816.86] Aries: You can go to that.
[1817.86] Aries: So there's a plug.
[1819.86] Aries: So I've been trying to get this.
[1821.86] Tony: We can mute that on the podcast.
[1823.86] Aries: Other shops are available.
[1825.86] Aries: Other shops are available.
[1827.86] Aries: I've not seen any of them.
[1829.86] Tony: We love you all.
[1831.86] Aries: Anyway, back to the story.
[1833.86] Aries: I was trying to get this out today.
[1835.86] Aries: It's been snowing like the last few days up here and this morning.
[1840.86] Jack: If you can't understand him, don't worry.
[1842.86] Jack: Neither can we.
[1846.86] Aries: I saw breaking the snow and I was like, right, okay,
[1848.86] Aries: let's get out and maiden this thing.
[1850.86] Aries: I didn't see it.
[1851.86] Aries: Sleets started to fall as soon as I stepped at the front door.
[1854.86] Aries: I was like, what?
[1856.86] Aries: So, no, I've not done any flying in like the last six weeks.
[1860.86] Aries: I went out flying today.
[1862.86] Aries: Annoying.
[1863.86] Tony: Really, Frank?
[1864.86] Jack: Yes, baby.
[1865.86] Jack: First one of the year century.
[1870.86] Tony: Tell us about it.
[1872.86] Frank: Well, I got to fly the drift.
[1877.86] Frank: It's got a tiny little wing thing, isn't it?
[1880.86] Frank: A little plane.
[1883.86] Frank: That's good fun.
[1885.86] Frank: It was, I can imagine...
[1887.86] Frank: It might be a bit drenched these days.
[1889.86] Frank: Reasonably drenched, I would say.
[1891.86] Frank: But, yeah, I mean, this was in no wind whatsoever,
[1895.86] Frank: but it was still weather veining into what little breeze there was.
[1899.86] Frank: So, you've got to have it on a pretty still day, I reckon,
[1903.86] Frank: to be able to fly that.
[1905.86] Frank: Cool.
[1906.86] Frank: But, yeah, that was good fun.
[1909.86] Frank: So, yeah, I did take out a...
[1915.86] Frank: a quad that I won from Curry's Patreon.
[1919.86] Frank: But...
[1920.86] Frank: Rigged.
[1923.86] Aries: And say they're trading.
[1925.86] Tony: Rigged, friend.
[1926.86] Tony: Oh, my friends.
[1928.86] Frank: Can I try it off?
[1929.86] Frank: On the wheel of picking things, you can tell.
[1932.86] Tony: Well, I didn't win on any of the, I mean, painters stuff.
[1936.86] Jack: You're not a patron on anything, because you squeak when you walk.
[1940.86] Jack: Me?
[1942.86] Jack: Haven't you seen my wallet?
[1944.86] Aries: No, no one has.
[1948.86] Tony: I've been spending it on my damn van.
[1950.86] NJ: Most people didn't get it wrong yet, not insert it.
[1952.86] NJ: It's in that room at the end of Raiders of the Lost Ark,
[1955.86] NJ: where they still say it.
[1957.86] Tony: You have to switch it with a bag of sand.
[1960.86] Aries: Tony doesn't have eye pockets.
[1964.86] Tony: I'm quite generous, thank you.
[1966.86] Tony: Overall, I'm going. I'm going to think golfing.
[1969.86] Jack: I'm joking. I need to do it for you.
[1971.86] Jack: I am in a foul mood.
[1975.86] Frank: I went out flying, and probably the last time I'll be able to fly that spot,
[1982.86] Frank: because it's going to be turned into a construction site.
[1989.86] Frank: Nature Reserve is going to be ripped up to have a load of construction houses.
[1994.86] Aries: Oh, that's for the 2023 revolution, right?
[1998.86] Aries: That's what happened to me back then.
[2002.86] Aries: That's the headquarters.
[2003.86] Tony: Is it? It's like really ripping a nature reserve down.
[2006.86] Frank: Literally, there's like signs everywhere,
[2009.86] Frank: being like all of this is all going to be ripped up.
[2012.86] Frank: There's a bit of a to-do,
[2014.86] Frank: because basically they've not done any of the like wildlife checks,
[2019.86] Frank: or any of the kind of...
[2021.86] Jack: No lizard fences.
[2022.86] Frank: No insects to happen.
[2024.86] Frank: They've just gone like,
[2026.86] Frank: well, we're doing it. We're turning it into a construction site.
[2029.86] Frank: And we need to if they had even thought about it
[2032.86] Frank: and combined it with another construction site
[2034.86] Frank: that they were already doing there.
[2035.86] Frank: So it's a complete waste of time.
[2038.86] Tony: Any other news?
[2039.86] Tony: I've done my goggle bit.
[2041.86] Jack: Yeah, you didn't show any photos, Tom.
[2044.86] Jack: I was not visually aroused.
[2048.86] NJ: So when does this remote ID thing kick in for...
[2052.86] NJ: I think that's just you editing this.
[2054.86] NJ: Yeah, for the guys over the pond.
[2057.86] NJ: Is that fairly imminent, or what's the plan with that?
[2062.86] Frank: I haven't looked into it too much, to be honest.
[2064.86] Frank: Anyone else know you?
[2065.86] Tony: Frank's had a few... had a month off.
[2068.86] Jack: I've had like a brief little looksie-lo.
[2074.86] Jack: And I'm struggling with it,
[2079.86] Jack: because I'm sure as well,
[2082.86] Jack: I've seen like a post saying that some people have applied it
[2086.86] Jack: to be deprimental.
[2090.86] Jack: Detrimental?
[2091.86] Jack: Deprimental.
[2094.86] Jack: Detrimental?
[2095.86] Jack: Deprimental.
[2098.86] Jack: To innovation and stuff like that.
[2101.86] Jack: So they are... I think they're heavily arguing about it.
[2104.86] Frank: Deprimental.
[2105.86] Jack: I can't say that word all of a sudden.
[2107.86] Frank: Detrimental.
[2109.86] Jack: Deprimental.
[2110.86] Jack: That's it.
[2111.86] Jack: Deprimental.
[2112.86] Jack: No, you've got to recite it wrong.
[2115.86] Jack: Oh, I'm going to have to rebate.
[2117.86] Jack: Rebate? Oh, well done.
[2120.86] Jack: I know. I'm not usually...
[2122.86] Jack: To be fair, I've had no sleep.
[2124.86] Jack: I am out of medication,
[2126.86] Jack: and all I've been doing is being...
[2129.86] Jack: It's been a miserable day.
[2131.86] Jack: Next year better not be like that.
[2134.86] Jack: I'm struggling. I'm struggling here.
[2136.86] Tony: There's a lot of people struggling this year,
[2138.86] Tony: but next year's going to be great.
[2140.86] Tony: You wait till summer of 2021.
[2142.86] Tony: There'll be hugs all round.
[2144.86] Tony: Oh.
[2146.86] Frank: So, The Verge have released an article a couple of days ago,
[2151.86] Frank: a few days ago, about the remote ID,
[2154.86] Frank: and they're saying that the rule about remote ID
[2161.86] Frank: is that in 2022, anything that's sold,
[2165.86] Frank: like the RTFs, say RTFs, I guess, like that,
[2168.86] Frank: will need remote ID, but by 2023,
[2171.86] Frank: then everyone will have to have remote ID
[2174.86] Frank: on anything that they've liked,
[2176.86] Frank: is what they're saying in the US.
[2178.86] Jack: God, get a life, do you know what I mean?
[2181.86] Frank: There's quite a lot of time between now and then,
[2184.86] Frank: but not so much time that they can come up
[2186.86] Frank: with a completely new technology,
[2188.86] Frank: so I can imagine that being pushed back.
[2190.86] Frank: I mean, we were meant to have the new regulations
[2193.86] Frank: that are coming in at midnight tonight
[2195.86] Frank: was meant to be like November 2019,
[2198.86] Frank: so it's not as if these regulations...
[2202.86] Tony: Basically, before that as well, wasn't it?
[2204.86] Frank: Oh, I don't know. I've lost track now.
[2206.86] Jack: Who actually felt like they got their £9.50s worth?
[2212.86] Jack: Like, I didn't.
[2214.86] Aries: They said it was absolutely not to get my £9.50s worth.
[2219.86] Frank: Robin says, Happy New Year, everyone get out next week
[2223.86] Frank: and locally fly a sub-250 gram.
[2225.86] Frank: Robin, I think, has probably done
[2228.86] Frank: quite a bit more reading of all the new stuff than I have
[2231.86] Frank: and was posting in the Discord, the LEO Discord,
[2234.86] Frank: which you can get if people send you the link,
[2238.86] Frank: which I'd know just as someone...
[2240.86] Aries: I believe there's a link in the description below.
[2243.86] Aries: Yeah.
[2244.86] NJ: I checked that before...
[2248.86] Frank: And, yeah, Robin was saying that the...
[2252.86] Frank: Although in all the summary,
[2254.86] Frank: it's all saying if it's under 250 grams and with a camera,
[2258.86] Frank: then it has to be all fly-ridied up and everything.
[2265.86] Frank: If operator ID...
[2267.86] Frank: If it's only for FPV, so it's not an HD camera on it,
[2274.86] Frank: if it's just an FPV camera that isn't doing any DVR or anything,
[2278.86] Frank: then it's not surveillance or capturing data.
[2285.86] Frank: Therefore, it doesn't require the operator ID.
[2290.86] Frank: So you could fly a tiny loop.
[2292.86] Frank: As long as you're not DVRing,
[2294.86] Frank: then you'd be all right flying without registering.
[2299.86] Jack: You're kidding me, really.
[2301.86] Tony: It's nearly as bad as the tear thing, isn't it?
[2304.86] Tony: Like, do this, you can do this.
[2307.86] Jack: Can anyone demand your footage as well?
[2309.86] Jack: Can they be like, oh, no, you film me?
[2312.86] Jack: Did you record it?
[2313.86] Frank: As if you're DVRing, then you shouldn't be.
[2317.86] Aries: Do you guys remember the days when camera phones first hit the commercial market
[2321.86] Aries: and everyone was like, stop taking a picture of me,
[2323.86] Aries: stop taking a picture of me?
[2325.86] Aries: It's kind of gone full surface.
[2327.86] Tony: Well, in public, if your public photography is legal,
[2332.86] Frank: so is that the same thing you're capturing?
[2337.86] Frank: It's whether you have a reasonable expectation of privacy, right?
[2341.86] Tony: Well, if you're in the middle of a field with sheep dolphins,
[2345.86] Tony: it'd probably be all right to record your DVR.
[2350.86] NJ: See, when you see all these people take their profile pictures,
[2353.86] NJ: they all seem to want a shot from up here somewhere of themselves.
[2356.86] NJ: So anything, we're giving them a superior angle.
[2360.86] Frank: Well, this is kind of the weird thing, I think, is that there's...
[2364.86] Frank: It's the long eye of the Lord.
[2366.86] Frank: There's the aviation laws about where you can fly,
[2372.86] Frank: but then there's this tiny little bit where, for some reason,
[2376.86] Frank: they've put stuff about surveillance and cameras and stuff into the aviation law.
[2380.86] Frank: So this is the thing which, if you're using it to record,
[2384.86] Frank: then all of a sudden the aviation law says that you need to be registered,
[2389.86] Frank: regardless of whether or not you're breaking your privacy law.
[2392.86] Frank: All these tiny little weird quirky bits around the edges.
[2397.86] Jack: If someone donates £9, I will send you a sticker pack.
[2402.86] Aries: You max it up ahead there.
[2404.86] Aries: It makes an aviation with privacy laws.
[2406.86] Frank: Yeah, it's weird. It seems unnecessary.
[2410.86] Frank: There we go.
[2413.86] Frank: Soviet spy planes.
[2415.86] Jack: You might have to register your car for having a dash cam.
[2420.86] Jack: You have to pay it a little bit extra.
[2423.86] Jack: You have to pay £9 for registering.
[2426.86] Tony: If it comes in now, this is on record.
[2428.86] Jack: Registering a car with...
[2430.86] Frank: You heard it here first, folks. Start budgeting.
[2433.86] Frank: I need £22.
[2435.86] Jack: Can you imagine that?
[2437.86] Jack: People would be like, you what?
[2439.86] Jack: If you've got a dash cam and go over a hill too fast,
[2449.65] Jack: you are...
[2451.65] Jack: Something like the aviation law.
[2453.65] NJ: The wheels leave the rail.
[2455.65] Tony: If the jig can pass it, I'd have it all there in their car.
[2459.65] Jack: If you have a dash cam and you go over a hill too fast,
[2462.65] Jack: then you can air aviation law.
[2467.65] NJ: So the person behind...
[2469.65] NJ: 2.2 feet limit.
[2471.65] NJ: The person behind them with their dash cam
[2473.65] NJ: can use their footage to incriminate the person in front
[2476.65] NJ: under aviation law.
[2478.65] NJ: That would be how I'd love to be on that court court.
[2481.65] Frank: What about if you're holding...
[2483.65] Jack: Yeah, that as well.
[2487.65] Jack: Can you imagine that?
[2489.65] Jack: We've got to go to the tattoo ice.
[2491.65] Jack: You've got to be like, I need you to tattoo this operator ID onto Frank.
[2497.65] Jack: And it can't be more than three million years.
[2500.65] Jack: I'll need you to remove it next year.
[2504.65] Jack: You can keep the OP dash, but the rest of it,
[2507.65] Jack: you're going to have to remove and then redo a tattoo.
[2509.65] Jack: They'll be laughing. They'll be making so much money.
[2513.65] Jack: No jumping with camera phones or DVR or GoPro.
[2517.65] NJ: We'd also need to get you under 250 grams,
[2520.65] NJ: if that's not to measure a big ask.
[2522.65] NJ: That's impossible.
[2524.65] Frank: I can try, but it might be a bit much.
[2527.65] Jack: Unless you mic the chicken him,
[2529.65] Jack: where you cut his head off and only part of his head lives.
[2535.65] NJ: Originally, the dash cam thing was illegal here, wasn't it?
[2539.65] NJ: For a fair bit of time.
[2541.65] NJ: And then suddenly that all became fine.
[2546.65] Aries: Because it helped insurance companies and stuff.
[2549.65] Aries: Yeah, absolutely.
[2551.65] Tony: How's the e-bike thing going?
[2553.65] Tony: You can catch UFOs and meteors on them.
[2557.65] Aries: Get a long exposure drive right down the motorway.
[2561.65] NJ: Get in the way of it for now.
[2563.65] NJ: I think like many of these new technologies,
[2566.65] NJ: under the radar is probably where it is at the minute.
[2569.65] NJ: But as electric bikes are becoming more common place,
[2573.65] NJ: they're more efficient, they're greener, they're cleaner,
[2576.65] NJ: they're quieter, they're going to be greener.
[2578.65] Jack: How are they greener? You have to charge them.
[2581.65] NJ: Well, yeah.
[2583.65] NJ: My friend, Andy, he actually solar power,
[2585.65] NJ: solar charges all of his e-bike batteries.
[2588.65] NJ: But Eon, Eon, green energy.
[2593.65] NJ: But yeah, until they work out the ways
[2596.65] NJ: that they're going to make lots of profit,
[2599.65] NJ: be it from whatever it is,
[2601.65] NJ: insurance and licensing and all that other kind of stuff.
[2605.65] NJ: At the minute, a lot of that's going under the radar.
[2607.65] NJ: But it will inevitably get regulated.
[2609.65] NJ: Certainly France have come down really,
[2612.65] NJ: really hard on the e-bike world.
[2615.65] NJ: And there's some pretty nasty fines if you go over the
[2619.65] NJ: prescribed power limit of, I think,
[2623.65] NJ: 250 to 300 watts is the max you can run on the motors there.
[2627.65] NJ: Otherwise, you're in for like a 25 to 30,000 euro fine
[2631.65] NJ: if you're caught.
[2633.65] Tony: Is that even up a mountain?
[2636.65] NJ: Or is that just like on the street?
[2639.65] NJ: If you're on the road and it's over that power limit,
[2642.65] NJ: then that's it.
[2644.65] Jack: Even if you're not using that power limit?
[2646.65] Jack: Doesn't matter.
[2647.65] NJ: If it's on the bike, if it's there,
[2649.65] NJ: and that power's available to you.
[2651.65] NJ: The problem is, I mean, I can see where there is some issue,
[2654.65] NJ: is the fact that...
[2655.65] Jack: Can you imagine other cars?
[2656.65] NJ: Well, it's because you could take a normal bike,
[2659.65] NJ: put one of these motor hubs on it
[2661.65] NJ: and essentially turn it into a moped
[2664.65] NJ: or more powerful than that.
[2666.65] NJ: Some of these are kind of heading on
[2668.65] NJ: for super bike acceleration, some of them.
[2672.65] NJ: Not that I'd ever care about...
[2675.65] NJ: No, I wouldn't know anything about that.
[2677.65] NJ: But, yeah, if...
[2679.65] NJ: At the minute, it's a grey area,
[2683.65] NJ: but it will probably follow a similar tangent
[2687.65] NJ: one way or another.
[2689.65] NJ: The big thing at the minute is the kids on the scooters.
[2691.65] NJ: Like, in some towns like here,
[2693.65] NJ: there is loads of kids on the scooters.
[2694.65] NJ: They're not legal.
[2695.65] NJ: Half would sell them.
[2697.65] NJ: They are not legal.
[2699.65] Tony: They travel from Salt Dean all the way to Brighton and back.
[2703.65] Jack: Didn't even say hello.
[2705.65] Jack: Didn't even bring me back a boner.
[2707.65] Jack: Like...
[2709.65] Frank: Not even a bagel.
[2711.65] Tony: I'm...
[2713.65] Tony: Is it illegal to be on the path in a cycle lane?
[2717.65] Tony: Yep.
[2718.65] Jack: It's illegal for you to exist.
[2720.65] Jack: Really?
[2722.65] Tony: Socialised?
[2724.65] Frank: Everything, isn't it?
[2725.65] Tony: The only thing in the late 1990s
[2727.65] Tony: is to look out the window of your house, aren't you?
[2730.65] Frank: The only legal e...
[2732.65] Frank: Like, personal electric vehicle
[2734.65] Frank: is, like, a power assist e-bike, right?
[2738.65] Frank: So it only gives you power when you pedal, I think.
[2741.65] Frank: Correct, yeah.
[2742.65] NJ: You're only allowed to have an assisted power,
[2745.65] NJ: and that is up to a maximum speed of 15.5 miles an hour,
[2749.65] NJ: which is a ridiculous thing,
[2750.65] NJ: because most people, if they go full pelt,
[2752.65] NJ: will exceed that speed limit quite easily on a regular bike.
[2755.65] NJ: So, yeah, it's kind of...
[2757.65] NJ: I mean, you get the guys on the...
[2759.65] NJ: You know, with all the Lycra, they get on the racing,
[2761.65] NJ: but those guys can easily hit up to, like, 40.
[2765.65] NJ: Yeah, absolutely.
[2766.65] Jack: Can you imagine getting a fine
[2769.65] Jack: for being too good at riding a bike?
[2772.65] Jack: Can you imagine that?
[2774.65] Jack: They're like...
[2775.65] Jack: Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, sir.
[2776.65] Jack: That is too much...
[2777.65] Aries: What do you think it's going to be?
[2778.65] Aries: Too much to eat?
[2779.65] Jack: I don't know. It's fine.
[2781.65] Jack: Too much fun.
[2782.65] Jack: You're going to have to pay a 25-pound fine.
[2787.65] Jack: We'll have you in court.
[2789.65] NJ: Yeah, but the bit that you're talking about,
[2791.65] NJ: specifically there, Frank, with the power assistance,
[2794.65] NJ: it's meant to assist you as you pedal.
[2796.65] NJ: The idea is you're always pedaling.
[2798.65] NJ: If you move that to a thumb throttle,
[2800.65] NJ: where you're just putting the power in,
[2801.65] NJ: you're essentially on a moped, so that's...
[2804.65] Tony: I was totally linking today for about six hours,
[2807.65] Tony: and I really enjoyed it.
[2810.65] Jack: I know.
[2812.65] Jack: Like, as if you control, you know,
[2815.65] Jack: your bike with the pedals.
[2817.65] Jack: Do you know what I mean?
[2818.65] Jack: It's like...
[2821.65] Tony: Do you know how the screenshot...
[2823.65] Tony: Can we make Jack big
[2825.65] Tony: and then hope that YouTube takes their state?
[2835.57] Jack: You've got a smile in them.
[2837.57] Jack: Why don't you just take your screenshot?
[2840.57] Tony: Was that your fight?
[2842.57] Tony: Was that a big smile, Jack?
[2844.57] Jack: No.
[2845.57] Tony: I thought you were having a stroke.
[2848.57] Jack: I can only hope that it was the old...
[2853.57] Jack: I think even being drunk on a horse is illegal.
[2857.57] Aries: Be careful there, Jack.
[2858.57] Aries: And a horse is...
[2862.57] Jack: Well done commercial.
[2863.57] Jack: It's on parts.
[2864.57] Jack: What happens if the horse is inside you
[2866.57] Jack: and the horse is drunk?
[2870.57] Jack: Frank, disclaimer.
[2873.57] Jack: We do not support the views
[2875.57] Jack: or ideals of bestialities
[2877.57] Jack: or interspecies erotica here.
[2881.57] Aries: Be safe, people.
[2882.57] NJ: I love some of these things in the chat.
[2884.57] NJ: Magical folks will say,
[2885.57] NJ: you can lose your license for being drunk on a bike.
[2888.57] NJ: I think that's definitely, as mentioned,
[2892.57] NJ: a badge of honor.
[2894.57] NJ: Being drunk on a horse, possibly illegal.
[2897.57] NJ: I love the idea of that.
[2898.57] NJ: That would be ones put on the wall, wouldn't it?
[2901.57] NJ: Busy, er, drone equipment.
[2903.57] Aries: You were needing a painting, though, Angie.
[2905.57] Aries: You need to get it like...
[2908.57] Aries: A colour works.
[2909.57] Aries: Canvas just put on your wall.
[2911.57] Aries: Yeah, exactly.
[2912.57] Frank: You can charge my horse.
[2913.57] Aries: Yeah.
[2916.57] Frank: What would be like the drone equipment?
[2918.57] Frank: The most ridiculous, smallest little thing
[2923.57] Frank: that you could do that would get you into big trouble.
[2927.57] Frank: Like, compared to...
[2929.57] Jack: Oh, there you go, look.
[2930.57] Jack: To drink and ride a horse or cattle
[2932.57] Jack: under licensing act 1872.
[2935.57] Jack: Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait.
[2938.57] Jack: Highway or other public place.
[2941.57] NJ: This includes cattle.
[2943.57] NJ: Well, this changes everything.
[2946.57] Aries: Imagine making a chicken at 15 way or another.
[2949.57] Aries: Here, Rod.
[2950.57] NJ: Chickens, yeah.
[2951.57] Jack: Can you imagine, right?
[2953.57] Jack: Because I'm the size of a horse compared to Tony.
[2955.57] Jack: You know, like, relativity.
[2957.57] Jack: Can you imagine Tony being drunk
[2959.57] Jack: and then riding me, do what you want with that kit.
[2962.57] Jack: But, no, like, you know, if I get on all fours
[2966.57] Jack: and Tony mounts me, you can also have that.
[2970.57] Tony: That probably...
[2971.57] Tony: That has happened in Wales.
[2973.57] Tony: I'm thinking back.
[2975.57] Jack: Yeah.
[2976.57] Jack: Is that also...
[2977.57] Jack: If we did that in front of a police officer, would they...
[2981.57] Frank: I think it would probably just kick us.
[2983.57] Frank: Only if Tony was drunk.
[2986.57] Tony: Yeah.
[2987.57] Tony: That's pretty much all the time.
[2989.57] Tony: So, you're probably on there, Jack.
[2992.57] Jack: We've got to get points on my license as well
[2995.57] Jack: because he was drunk.
[2997.57] NJ: So, if you strapped a chicken to each foot
[2999.57] NJ: and got drunk, going past the police officer...
[3006.57] Frank: They're probably sectioned here.
[3008.57] Jack: You see it all.
[3009.57] Jack: I'm for you.
[3010.57] Jack: I didn't get arrested for riding a goat
[3012.57] Jack: over 15 miles an hour.
[3014.57] Frank: What about for doing your recycling?
[3017.57] Jack: Yeah, true.
[3018.57] Jack: I didn't get arrested, I got detained.
[3024.57] Jack: And I told one of the neighbours, I did it.
[3028.57] Tony: Didn't you say one of the police officers
[3031.57] Tony: is quite good looking?
[3032.57] Tony: It's probably why you got detained.
[3035.57] Jack: I know.
[3036.57] Jack: She was amazing, bloody hell.
[3039.57] Frank: We've wandered a few times over away from topic,
[3045.57] Frank: but do you want to wrap up the podcast now
[3049.57] Frank: and then we will send the link out to anyone who wants it
[3053.57] Frank: who wants to come and hang out for the next few hours.
[3056.57] Jack: Okay.
[3057.57] Jack: Thank you.
[3058.57] Jack: You've been listening to Let's Throw Now.
[3060.57] Jack: As Frank, the Lord Master of the Universe and the CIA,
