[493.29] Tommy: But, I mean, we always take whatever opportunity for, like,
[498.29] Tommy: in a neighbouring state or whatever, we'll hit each other

[507.29] Steele: Tommy lives not 24 hours away, and we don't see each other

[557.29] Steele: Although, the movie industry's a little not as good as L.A.,

[562.29] Tommy: Yeah, that's kind of the only thing holding me back
[564.29] Tommy: because there's a lot of work over here in terms of like...
[567.29] Steele: Well, you can have all of it in Atlanta
[568.29] Steele: because I turn it all down.

[572.29] Steele: They hire it out to some quit from some random place somewhere,
[576.29] Steele: and they're like, yeah, we got him to fly a Komodo
[578.29] Steele: for $4 a day.
[580.29] Steele: So that's the guy that's fucking it up for everybody.
[584.29] Steele: The problem is, is they always call,
[586.29] Steele: and they want your day rate,
[587.29] Steele: and I give them my GoPro day rate, and they're like,
[589.29] Steele: oh, this guy's really affordable.
[590.29] Steele: And then after they lock me in and start doing traveling,
[593.29] Steele: they're like, you can fly a Komodo, right?
[595.29] Steele: I'm like, sorry, bro, that's like two and a half times
[598.29] Steele: what I told you per day.
[599.29] Steele: And they're like, what the fuck?
[602.29] Steele: We're going to have to find some child
[603.29] Steele: that will do it for free.
[605.29] Tommy: Well, there's a lot of those now.
[607.29] Tommy: I feel like a lot of people got into the whole cinema thing
[611.29] Tommy: during this course of this pandemic.
[614.29] Tommy: I feel like everybody became a cinematic FPV pilot.
[623.29] Steele: And for the rest of the world,
[624.29] Steele: that just means you can fly on a straight line.
[627.29] Steele: But for the people that actually do it on a regular basis,
[630.29] Steele: it's pretty difficult.
[632.29] Tommy: Yeah, it could be.
[633.29] Tommy: Especially when you have a director
[635.29] Tommy: that really has something specific in their head,
[638.29] Tommy: that's when it can be a little challenging.
[641.29] Steele: My best, my favorite part is telling them no.
[645.29] Curry: So on that subject, how is it, Tommy?
[648.29] Curry: Because I watched some of your bits about flying commercial
[651.29] Curry: and what you were doing because you were talking about
[653.29] Curry: how useful it was having HDMI out
[655.29] Curry: so you can show the director the actual stuff
[657.29] Curry: going on the DJI goggles and stuff.
[659.29] Curry: But I would have thought that sort of reputation means a lot
[663.29] Curry: and you've been doing a lot of stuff.
[664.29] Curry: But is there serious competition?
[666.29] Curry: It all comes down to like,
[667.29] Curry: this guy says he can do it for cheaper,
[669.29] Curry: essentially at the end of the day.
[670.29] Tommy: I mean, honestly, I think it just really depends.
[673.29] Tommy: Like most of the time, it's always like a very tight knit circle.
[677.29] Tommy: And like when you have a good impression on somebody,
[681.29] Tommy: it tends to last and they tend to tell friends.
[685.29] Tommy: And it just really depends on like the production.
[688.29] Tommy: If I have had others that hit me up and they're like,
[691.29] Tommy: yo, can you do this?
[692.29] Tommy: And I give them my day rate and they're like,
[694.29] Tommy: oh, well, you know, you actually got some other one
[696.29] Tommy: saying that they could do it.
[697.29] Tommy: And it's literally like a quarter of the price.
[700.29] Tommy: And it's just like, well, it is what it is.
[704.29] Tommy: And if they decide to go for it, they go for it.
[706.29] Tommy: My only concern is they do it and like the production of the director
[710.29] Tommy: sees the experience because it's not just the end result,
[713.29] Tommy: but it's also like the experience, right?
[716.29] Tommy: Like when you're on set, you're with a crew that most of the time,
[720.29] Tommy: most people don't really know each other.
[722.29] Tommy: And so first impression is really last.
[724.29] Tommy: And if you can't do what they're asking you to do because time is money
[729.29] Tommy: or, you know, just whatever the case may be,
[732.29] Tommy: then it's a very lasting impression.
[734.29] Tommy: So I guess to answer your question, it just really depends.
[738.29] Tommy: There's some production companies that I've worked with where like,
[741.29] Tommy: I'm confident it will always have a great relationship.
[744.29] Tommy: And then there's some newer ones that may or may not be familiar with FPV.
[749.29] Tommy: And maybe they're just looking for the price
[752.29] Tommy: and not so much the experience or the quality.
[756.29] Jack: I've got some, like, not FPV questions still.

[789.29] Steele: I have no issues with graphics anymore where I used to before,
[792.29] Steele: especially if I were running VR.
[794.29] Steele: But certain games are a little more graphics hungry.

[935.66] Curry: And I forgot how much fun they are to watch just watching you three bounce off each other.

[957.66] Curry: And then there was this whole thing after Steel crashed on the Ferris wheel.

[967.66] Curry: Now he's going to think he's invulnerable.
[969.66] Curry: It was just all this bouncing off each other.

[973.66] Curry: I think you're talking about when you say there were so many memories,

[978.66] Curry: You guys are just on this fun road trip for a long time,

[987.66] Steele: I think what the public doesn't realize is that was all scripted.

[1472.66] Tommy: So I had to come up with a way for it to not move because using just a
[1477.66] Tommy: battery strap and like what was standard back then,
[1480.66] Tommy: which was like just like a little foam pad or whatever,
[1484.66] Tommy: I wasn't cutting it.
[1485.66] Tommy: And so came up with the,
[1487.66] Tommy: with the Yama grip and people asked if they just use it for other stuff.
[1491.66] Tommy: And that's how that whole thing came about.

[3842.95] Chad N: that was a whole different ball game because you had to learn to fly

[3847.19] Chad N: This is back in the days without the proper fish eye lens
[3850.91] Chad N: or the GoPro lenses and stuff like that that we used to now.
[3855.27] Chad N: So if you if you put more than say about five or 10 degrees
[3860.83] Chad N: with a tilt and you couldn't see the ground, so you had that.
[3863.75] Chad N: And that was my way of getting around that.
[3865.55] Chad N: But yeah, with a 65 degree camera angle like on a servo
[3870.91] Chad N: with fish, I'm giving you're going to be the next star here, Bluel.
