[232.29] Curry: And since that day, shockingly, my knee has been in serious pain.

[276.29] Curry: But you felt some sort of one handed style controller, but presumably for INAF.

[299.29] Paweł: But because this thing is using the trainer port on your radio.
[303.29] Paweł: So we're just plugging this as an external trainer slave to your radio.
[307.29] Paweł: You can actually fly anything you really want.
[310.29] Paweł: I don't know if you really like to be a hardcore flyer, maybe a multi-V.
[316.29] Paweł: I have not tried Acro, but everything with the position hold should be doable.

[324.29] Paweł: And I only hope that the GI will not sue me.
[328.29] Curry: Do you think you should go a little bit further than this and make a wearable quad suit

[627.37] Paweł: you will notice it's actually quite small.

[633.37] Paweł: I'm more interested in this FPV option in this transmitter,
[637.37] Paweł: but I think Free Sky is really pushing some limits over there.
[641.37] Curry: Yeah, I haven't seen this at all.
[645.32] Curry: I have to say, I haven't looked at Free Sky lately at any point.
[649.32] Curry: It seems like about X7 width, doesn't it?
[652.32] Curry: It seems quite wide, but not a screen.

[657.32] Paweł: But it's quite compact for the size of the screen.
[660.32] Paweł: And maybe the idea to put the screen on the bottom
[663.32] Paweł: was not really the best ergonomics solution.
[666.32] Curry: I guess for looking at it, because you have to sort of like, what's going on?
[670.32] Curry: If you googles on as most of us are, it's all a little bit irrelevant.
[674.32] Curry: It's just easier to set up.
[675.32] Paweł: The idea is that this thing will have the digital zero latency thingy on it.
[683.32] Paweł: That's something that they write in the quite small font in the brochure of the thing.
[688.32] Paweł: But I think someone opened it up and turned out that there is no receiver
[694.32] Paweł: for the video in the radio yet.
[696.32] Paweł: So probably what you will have to do when the Free Sky will finally came up
[701.32] Paweł: with the receiver and the transmitter and the whole ecosystem or whatever,
[705.32] Paweł: maybe this will be sharp, quite compatible.
[708.32] Paweł: You will have to plug in the receiver to the radio
[711.32] Paweł: and then connect yourself with the HDMI cable to your goggles.

[717.32] Frank: Yeah, it's interesting.
[720.32] Frank: Somewhat related to the other news of the week,
[723.32] Frank: which was the mass panic about the DJI FPV.
[727.32] Frank: It seems to have not actually materialized.
[731.32] Frank: It seems to have been a bit of a, what's the phrase?
[738.32] Frank: An incorrect rumor anyway.
[741.32] Frank: I can't speak.
[743.32] Paweł: It's not quite right.
[744.32] Paweł: Did you actually stop making the hardware?
[747.32] Paweł: Yes, but Kaddix are going to make it.

[752.32] Paweł: And the question is if the big DJI AR unit will be called AR unit or Kaddix AR unit.

[766.32] Paweł: Yesterday I bought two Vistas, just to be sure, but I'm not cut out.

[782.32] Frank: He was saying that the AR unit will still be made at some point,
[789.32] Frank: but it's been put on pause for the moment, the manufacturing of it,
[792.32] Frank: mainly because there's a shortage of some chips,
[796.32] Frank: some particular chip that it uses that everyone's trying to get hold of
[800.32] Frank: and that they don't exist at the moment or something.
[802.32] Frank: Thank goodness.
[803.32] Curry: Because I was going to say that does sound northern.
[805.32] Curry: There's not enough chips.
[806.32] Curry: We can't do no work without chips.
[809.32] Paweł: But I think that the funny fact about the whole DJI FPD system,
[817.32] Paweł: DJI has their own chipset.
[820.32] Paweł: The chipset that does the video processing and encryption
[825.32] Paweł: is the ASIC built by DJI and manufacturer only for the DJI
[829.32] Paweł: and nobody else in the world has this.
[831.32] Paweł: So I think that they will be still kind of producing this thing
[835.32] Paweł: and then probably only shipping the chip to the Caddix
[839.32] Paweł: because probably this is the same chipset they run
[843.32] Paweł: and putting in all of their FPD links
[846.32] Paweł: and including Mavix and those biggies.
[849.32] Paweł: So I bet they are not really stopping producing the chipset for that.
[854.32] Paweł: Only like, okay, but you do the hobby stuff.

[932.32] Paweł: I would not mind if, for example, the DJI,

[944.32] Jack: depending on whether that one axis gimbal can tilt far enough.

[993.32] Jack: and then can we have the DJI drone and have it so that the props are always in shot

[1008.32] Curry: It's a lot of work for a little joke, though.

[1015.32] Jack: You have to earn in currency by playing that ball game
[1019.32] Jack: and build it up to another 1,200 points
[1022.32] Jack: in order to get a new DJI quad to be able to fly.
[1025.32] Paweł: No, I think we are really like putting too much,
[1031.57] Paweł: I'm not sure what's the word in English,
[1034.57] Paweł: but I think we really do complain slightly too much about this drone
[1038.57] Paweł: and the fragility of the arms
[1040.57] Paweł: because really this is not a hardware design for us.
[1045.57] Paweł: This is hardware design for the Sunday flyers,
[1048.57] Paweł: but I really buy Sunday flyers, I mean, Sunday flyers.
[1052.57] Paweł: And I really think that as long as those people will keep to those super fancy
[1059.57] Paweł: DJI fly-only modes where you're just controlling position, altitude and everything,
[1064.57] Paweł: they will not break an arm because this thing will not allow them to break an arm.
[1068.57] Curry: You say that, but yeah, we've, like a lot of us have got like DJI quads
[1073.57] Curry: and it's literally like, we describe it as like pushing an eyeball around the sky.
[1077.57] Curry: It's a nice thing for like filming and stuff and it's like impossible to crash.
[1081.57] Curry: And yet I look at Facebook in like a DJI users group
[1085.57] Curry: and you will see multiple broken Mavics and all these DJI quads disappearing through the sea.
[1092.57] Curry: And I was like, how do they do this?
[1094.57] Curry: So even in the hands of these people, they would find a way to destroy it somehow.
[1103.57] Frank: In designing something to be foolproof, never underestimate the genius of fools.
[1108.57] Paweł: Yes, exactly.
[1110.57] Paweł: Really, some people are extremely talented and they really will be able to destroy everything.
[1117.57] Frank: Robin's asking, with cruise mode, position held, return to home,
[1122.57] Frank: what can the DJI do that iNav can't?
[1125.57] Paweł: Quite a lot.
[1130.57] Paweł: No, the DJI has a huge advantage because the DJI ships you hardware and the software.
[1137.57] Paweł: That means that, first of all, they can tune the software to be 100 percent compatible with the hardware.
[1145.57] Paweł: So I've heard the stories that, oh, there is a problem on this thing.
[1149.57] Paweł: But besides that, they are really able to tune all the PID controllers in this thing
[1154.57] Paweł: for the position hold, altitude, everything to really work great.
[1157.57] Paweł: You do not have to tune it.
[1159.57] Paweł: And they have enough of the budget to make everything user friendly.
[1165.57] Paweł: Because bottom line is all about the money, about making this software user friendly.
[1171.57] Paweł: And Open Source Project just does not have this kind of the budget to be able to make everything really like,
[1177.57] Paweł: okay, I click and it flies.
[1179.57] Paweł: Because it requires a lot of work, a lot of testing, and not only from the developers,
[1185.57] Paweł: but only from the users to do exactly how it was designed to be used and made.
[1192.57] Paweł: And then we just do not have the resources.
[1196.57] Paweł: And only the really teeny tiny fraction of the people will be actually using this.
[1202.57] Paweł: So, yes, you can make INAV fly pretty well.
[1210.14] Paweł: But as well, out of the box as this ready made and like everything in one package.
[1217.14] Paweł: No, you have to tune it.
[1219.14] Paweł: You have to improve it.
[1222.14] Paweł: And at the end of the day, still the DJI will have the higher budget to hire better graphical designers,
[1231.14] Paweł: better user experience specialists to make super nice and lovely package.
[1238.14] Curry: I did particularly like the sort of the virtual home position,
[1242.14] Curry: which they superimposed over where your home would be.
[1244.14] Curry: I thought that was quite clever.
[1247.14] Paweł: DJI has it.
[1250.14] Paweł: INAV has it for like two years.
[1254.14] Paweł: Is it in the right place?
[1256.14] Paweł: Usually, yes.
[1258.14] Paweł: But there are conditions.
[1260.14] Paweł: You have to enter the horizontal and the vertical filter view of the camera.
[1266.14] Paweł: So now, first you have to measure this,
[1269.14] Paweł: and then you have to enter this in the hot setting of the INAV.
[1273.14] Paweł: And then the home position will be overlaid basically where it is.
[1278.14] Paweł: But then you still have to remember that this works only in the character mode.
[1282.14] Paweł: So sometimes it can be here and sometimes there because, you know,
[1286.14] Paweł: one character to the left or to the right can be quite a difference in the position.
[1291.14] Paweł: But yeah, it's like in the INAV for the last two years.

[2283.25] Jack: And yeah, and it's got I added one of those diversity crossfire receivers.
[2292.25] Jack: It hasn't got a battery for the beacon mode and I'm finished fully putting the

[2299.25] Jack: But in all intents and purposes, if I could be asked to zip tie them down, put
[2305.25] Jack: some tubing on there.

[2357.25] Tony: This is just, you know, using your flight or whatever.
[2362.25] Tony: So we've got to find the right bit so it hovers and fly actually flies back

[2369.25] Curry: So he says how rescue mode works, I've told you before, rescue mode is crash to

[2456.62] Curry: And then it starts going back.
[2457.62] Curry: And when it hits that 200 meter mark is when it starts to descend.
[2461.62] Curry: These are default values.
[2462.62] Curry: And by default, it's a bit of a missile.
[2465.62] Curry: So that's when you really need to take control because it will kill you.
