[0.0] Jack: Hello and you're listening to Let's Drone Out and special thank you to our lovely patrons that help donate so that we can pay the editor to remove the swear words and silly things we say. Massive thank you too.
[14.0] Jack: Carlos Campos.
[16.0] Jack: Art Faulkner.
[18.0] Jack: Sam Dahmer.
[20.0] Frank: Mikey Dread.
[22.0] Frank: On with the show.
[24.0] Jack: Let's Drone Out now.
[54.77] Jack: Welcome to Let's Drone Out.
[58.77] Jack: Tonight we are joined by everyone's favourite Kerry Giddens.
[62.77] Jack: Hello.
[64.77] Jack: Somehow he's found the mute button.
[66.77] Jack: Tony.
[68.77] Jack: Yo, how's yours?
[70.77] Jack: Also known as my darling wife.
[72.77] Jack: And shiny video stuff.
[75.77] Jack: Val Rick Stephen.
[77.77] Stephen: Hello, how are you today?
[79.77] Jack: The third.
[81.77] Jack: The commander of the catsick.
[83.77] Jack: How is everyone?
[85.77] Stephen: Well, as I was saying, I just narrowly dodged some catsick mopping up duties, which delayed us.
[92.77] Stephen: Not that we needed any help being delayed, but yeah.
[97.77] Curry: These last two days have actually been, I think, good. Cold, but there's no wind, there's no rain, so good days, I think.
[107.77] Curry: Flyable days.
[109.77] Jack: I saw your Instagram upload, Kerry.
[113.77] Jack: Your floodplains.
[116.77] Curry: You should see me walking through those, looking for a dry spot.
[120.77] Curry: You mean you could walk, not swim?
[122.77] Curry: It's just about. It's like anywhere.
[125.77] Curry: You could land anywhere in that field and everything would explode unless you landed on the actual mat you put down there.
[132.77] Curry: It was pretty wet.
[134.77] Stephen: But it ain't dried off.
[136.77] Curry: Yeah, it's going to take about six months for that to dry. Jesus, it's just like it's a lake.
[142.77] Curry: And then the worst part was the entrance because it's got so wet, the cows have been removed from the field.
[148.77] Curry: But they've gone through the gate and he's put the tractor through it.
[152.77] Curry: That is just completely full of tractor tires, which is filled in with like water and cows.
[161.77] Curry: So you've got like, where are you going to walk?
[164.77] Curry: In the dirty cow poo water or just the actual cow poo?
[168.77] Tony: Even squeaky, he's just joined the chat.
[173.14] Tony: Oh, everyone in chat.
[175.14] Tony: Yes, it is nice flying weather, like no wind.
[179.14] Tony: Crystal clear.
[181.14] Tony: Warm after about 10, I'd say, 10 a.m.
[185.14] Tony: Yeah.
[186.14] Curry: My only problem was, I don't know about you guys, if you're flying in that weather, there's no wind chill or anything.
[192.14] Curry: But I find my thumb become just a little bit numb.
[195.14] Curry: You know, like you're not quite feeling the sticks right and everything's a little bit more clumsy.
[199.14] Curry: You haven't got that fine control.
[201.14] Stephen: I hang around flying so much, I lost the ability to pinch.
[205.14] Stephen: My thumb got completely numb and I couldn't undo the Velcro on the battery strap because I couldn't pinch anymore.
[210.14] Stephen: The little muscle like on the palm of my hand just stopped working.
[213.14] Stephen: I could move my hands and my fingers, but my thumb was just useless.
[216.14] Stephen: So I had to take the battery strap off with my teeth.
[219.14] Stephen: That's hardcore.
[221.14] Stephen: And to actually get the new one in.
[224.14] Stephen: That's a question.
[226.14] Stephen: That was when it was time to go home.
[228.14] Stephen: That was nature's way of saying, get out of it.
[231.14] Stephen: I did, however, get some thermal gloves, which I'm looking forward to trying out when it's not underwater, because we're on board here as well.
[239.14] Curry: Did you buy the astronomer gloves that Frank was on about?
[243.14] Stephen: Not those. It was it was Santa who found some and they found some with foldable fingers.
[251.14] Stephen: They like fold back. They're like little flaps that fold off the top of the finger and thumb and they've got magnets.
[257.14] Stephen: So you fold them back and they go tink and stay there until you need them.
[262.14] Curry: Oh, that sounds cool. Yeah.
[264.14] Curry: I would ask for a link, but I expect to send a boy.
[266.14] Curry: You haven't got a clue where they came from.
[268.14] Curry: Elves. I'm going to go for elves.
[273.14] Curry: All right.
[274.14] Curry: Available at all good elf shops near you.
[276.14] Jack: Yeah.
[278.58] Jack: Nice.
[279.58] Jack: That is pretty.
[280.58] Tony: You've been fine.
[281.58] Tony: You've been up to, Jack.
[282.58] Jack: What have I been up to?
[284.58] Jack: I have been.
[287.58] Jack: I've been doing, you know, Cole Anderson in the chat.
[291.58] Jack: I've been doing quite a bit of sort of housekeeping with with Cole.
[300.58] Jack: So we've been trying to, you know, see about getting guests on and stuff.
[304.58] Jack: And we're a bit, you know, we're a bit sort of lost without Frank, unfortunately.
[312.58] Jack: So I hope if Frank does tune in, I hope you listen to this.
[316.58] Jack: Well, I really, really miss Frank.
[318.58] Jack: I don't know about you guys so badly.
[322.58] Jack: The voice of reason.
[324.58] Jack: Yeah.
[325.58] Jack: I've I've cleared my desk beginning like last week.
[331.58] Jack: I was doing a bit of like PCB repair and I brought a couple of old flight controllers back from the dead and just kill some more by filling in the chips with some.
[347.58] Stephen: Yeah.
[348.58] Stephen: No.
[349.58] Jack: No.
[350.58] Jack: Yeah.
[352.58] Jack: I switched.
[353.58] Jack: It's the gyros that die from the ultrasonic cleaner.
[360.58] Jack: And I've bought a new ultrasonic cleaner for flux remover.
[366.58] Jack: So I've been, you know, I've been making up lovely solutions of flux cleaner and just basically practicing SMD work.
[379.58] Jack: I got the kiss ultra into my main rig.
[383.58] Tony: I was going to say, have you flown that yet?
[385.58] Jack: Yeah, with with individual ESCs, which are a bit weird because, you know, when's the last time anyone's put any individual ESCs on.
[398.58] Jack: So that was a bit weird.
[400.58] Jack: I haven't flown it.
[401.58] Jack: I've hollered it in here.
[404.58] Stephen: So I've had a little on the full six or are you cautious and just use a three S for the whole of the test inside?
[412.58] Jack: No, four S.
[414.58] Jack: So all my all my rigs are four S.
[417.58] Jack: I haven't.
[418.58] Jack: I just haven't.
[419.58] Jack: All mine are as well.
[421.58] Stephen: I do indoor hover tests, but I always like get a two S or a three S for the indoor hover test.
[426.58] Stephen: Yes, I don't.
[427.58] Stephen: If I can fat finger it.
[430.58] Jack: Yeah, I know.
[431.58] Jack: The old the old.
[434.58] Jack: The old TV has been, you know, in the front, the firing line.
[442.58] Jack: Yeah.
[443.58] Stephen: Yeah.
[444.58] Stephen: Yeah.
[445.58] Jack: Yeah.
[446.58] Jack: Clive did send me a copy of Moonwalker for the Sega Master System 2.
[454.58] Jack: Well, the Master System.
[457.58] Jack: I suppose you play on Master System 1 or whatever.
[460.58] Stephen: Oh, sorry.
[462.58] Jack: Where are you going with this Moonwalker?
[465.58] Stephen: Yeah.
[466.58] Tony: He'll come back around to flying at some point.
[468.58] Stephen: All right.
[469.58] Stephen: Yeah.
[470.58] UNKNOWN: Yeah.
[471.58] Jack: Well, I've mentioned it in the chat.
[479.58] Jack: So and oh, yes, I missed that one.
[483.58] Jack: Yeah.
[484.58] Jack: I've, you know, I've modded the Master System.
[486.58] Jack: So that's what I've done today.
[488.58] Jack: So that's what you mod it to.
[492.58] Jack: RGB out because the Master System only does RF.
[497.58] Jack: Which, you know, we.
[499.58] Curry: Yeah.
[500.58] Curry: I think he hurts.
[501.58] Curry: Did you not do that as well?
[502.58] Curry: What about HDMI?
[504.58] Stephen: What about your 4k Master System?
[507.58] Stephen: 4k Master System.
[510.58] Stephen: 8 bit.
[511.58] Stephen: The pixels are about 6 inch wide now.
[514.58] Jack: Why not?
[515.58] Jack: I think it's 8 bit, isn't it?
[518.58] Jack: Is it 8 bit?
[519.58] Stephen: It's an 8 bit.
[520.58] Stephen: Yeah.
[521.58] Stephen: 16 is bigger drive.
[523.58] Stephen: It was all a bit fuzzy in that era.
[525.58] Stephen: People would like say with 32 bit and there'd be like one 32 bit component on an 8 bit system.
[530.58] Stephen: Yeah.
[531.58] Stephen: Fuzzy.
[532.58] Stephen: Yeah.
[533.58] Jack: So as far as I know, Frank's all right.
[537.58] Jack: I mean, when I phoned him, he was.
[542.58] Jack: I win.
[543.58] Curry: You seem to be the trigger for Frank because when I said, how's Frank?
[546.58] Curry: You said, I don't know.
[547.58] Curry: I phoned him up and he got angry with me.
[550.58] Curry: Yeah.
[551.58] Curry: So he did.
[552.58] Curry: That could stop finding Frank up.
[554.58] Curry: Then Frank might be happy.
[555.58] Curry: Yeah.
[556.58] Tony: Maybe just let him have his break.
[558.58] Curry: Yeah.
[559.58] Stephen: Yeah.
[560.58] Stephen: Let him kick back.
[561.58] Stephen: Put his feet up.
[562.58] Stephen: I don't know if he's all right.
[563.58] Stephen: I should check on him.
[564.58] Stephen: I thought that stuff was laser cutter having a great time.
[569.58] Jack: No, I think he would want even more.
[572.58] Jack: I think the combination of you and me.
[576.58] Jack: The kryptonite to rank.
[578.58] Jack: I don't know.
[579.58] Jack: He is playing around some RF stuff for tracking planes.
[585.58] Jack: So he's been doing that.
[587.58] Jack: I'll lure him back.
[588.58] Jack: I will fit the FPV combat system to a plane once I learn how to fly a plane.
[596.58] Jack: Probably.
[597.58] Jack: Well, yeah.
[598.58] Tony: You can fly, but just.
[600.58] Jack: Just not very good.
[601.58] Jack: I mean, I suppose it wouldn't be too bad because with the FPV combat system, it is.
[608.58] Jack: It is FPV.
[610.58] Jack: So that should be fairly good.
[612.58] Stephen: They have turrets as well.
[613.58] Stephen: You could work on a turret, right?
[616.58] Stephen: Yeah.
[618.58] Stephen: What from the ground?
[620.58] Stephen: I thought they had some ground stuff as well for that.
[623.58] Stephen: One of the FPV systems did.
[625.58] Stephen: It had some sort of like ground based defenses.
[628.58] Stephen: You could either shoot out or could shoot at you.
[630.58] Stephen: I can't remember which way it was.
[632.58] Curry: I would like that system.
[633.58] Curry: See, we could have one attached to Tony could have his airsoft gun.
[637.58] Curry: But with the infrared thing.
[639.58] Curry: And then we'll have an infrared receiver on him.
[641.58] Curry: But like wire it up to some sort of electrodes.
[644.58] Curry: So if we get to shoot him, then he gets shocked.
[647.58] Curry: And also we've got the opportunity of Kamikaze dives onto Tony as well.
[651.58] Curry: I think pilot targets make sense.
[653.58] Stephen: Like what you've got the goggles on, people should be able to shoot you with the infrared.
[658.58] Stephen: And then if you're able to jump sideways while you've got the goggles on, fair play.
[663.58] Stephen: You can dodge it.
[664.58] Curry: If you can just move around and function normally with goggles on, you're doing well.
[668.58] Stephen: Yeah.
[669.58] Stephen: It'll be great.
[670.58] Stephen: There'll be at least two people on the floor just rolling around in mud at the end.
[673.58] Stephen: Fantastic.
[674.58] Stephen: I can't let go of my controller because I'll crash.
[677.58] Stephen: So I'm just going to lie on the ground in a puddle.
[680.58] Jack: Sounds like the plan.
[681.58] Jack: Can we just add airsoft guns to the planes and shoot Tony with...
[687.58] Tony: Well, you'd have to have quite a big plane.
[689.58] Jack: BBs.
[690.58] Tony: They're quite big.
[693.58] Curry: Like those fireworks on Quads and stuff where they just fire out lots of rockets.
[698.58] Curry: Bingo.
[699.58] Curry: Those would be good fun.
[700.58] Curry: Bingo.
[701.58] Curry: It would be like...
[702.58] Curry: Tony would have to be the target though because he keeps saying he's the fittest and he's probably
[706.58] Curry: the only one amongst us that could run.
[708.58] Curry: So fair enough, Tony.
[709.58] Curry: You've just volunteered yourself as target to hit.
[712.58] Tony: I'm fine with that.
[713.58] Tony: I'm fine with it.
[715.58] Jack: The CAA on, definitely with explosives and fireworks.
[719.58] Jack: Right.
[720.58] Curry: So we shouldn't invite the CAA to play.
[722.58] Curry: Yeah.
[723.58] Curry: That's the given.
[724.58] Curry: The rest of us could have a great laugh.
[726.58] Jack: Yeah.
[727.58] Jack: Does anyone actually know anything about the rules?
[730.58] Jack: Because I've heard that we can't fly because of the...
[735.58] Jack: COVID.
[736.58] Jack: No, the tier...
[738.58] Jack: You know, the rating system.
[741.58] Jack: You know, C1, C2...
[743.58] Curry: What, this field's been rated 18.
[745.58] Jack: Sorry.
[746.58] Stephen: What exactly...
[747.58] Stephen: What is stopping you flying?
[749.58] Stephen: Explain something that...
[750.58] Stephen: I can't believe you said the C word.
[752.58] Tony: This is going to be taken down there.
[754.58] Stephen: Man.
[755.58] Stephen: As far as I remember, that A2 open thing, whatever it is, you can fly around parks,
[760.58] Stephen: anything up to two kilos, and you've got to be 30 metres or more away from people,
[765.58] Stephen: but you can be 15 metres during takeoff.
[768.58] Stephen: That was the shtick, I think.
[771.58] Stephen: Yeah, you can fly.
[772.58] Stephen: I think you're right.
[773.58] Jack: It's the classification.
[776.58] Jack: Because we now fall into legacy.
[780.58] Curry: Yeah, we're under article 16.
[782.58] Curry: My suggestion, put the disclaimer up, is that we ignore all that
[787.58] Curry: and carry on as before, given the fact we've had zero deaths
[791.58] Curry: and I think we can hear everyone like that.
[793.58] Curry: I was having a discussion actually about...
[795.58] Curry: Fixed swing.
[796.58] Stephen: Fixed swing.
[797.58] Stephen: Fixed swing.
[798.58] Stephen: They hit children a couple of times with fixed swings and killed them.
[801.58] Curry: Zero quarters.
[803.58] Curry: I was talking to my brother-in-law about the rules
[805.58] Curry: because it's his field and he owns it, and he says...
[809.58] Curry: So if something flies over my field, I own it.
[812.58] Curry: He's like, I don't know, the CEO owns it, where he says, I'm shooting it.
[816.58] Curry: So...
[817.58] Curry: Yeah, I mean, the rules about what you're allowed to shoot
[820.58] Stephen: and what you're not allowed to shoot are a little bit more specific
[823.58] Stephen: than what you can fly over and can't fly over,
[826.58] Stephen: and it definitely says you can't just go taking potshots of crap.
[829.58] Stephen: You're not even really allowed to shoot wildlife unless you've got...
[832.58] Curry: Farmers have this really, really good...
[834.58] Curry: Read that, Chloe.
[835.58] Curry: Which is like, you're wearing my cattle if I'm shooting you.
[838.58] Curry: That's what you get for drinking alcohol.
[840.58] Curry: That's what you get for drinking alcohol.
[842.58] Curry: Diesel, isn't it?
[843.58] Curry: The views of others, and definitely it's not the law.
[845.58] Curry: But who cares?
[847.58] Tony: Drinking's too much for their agricultural fuel.
[849.58] Stephen: It goes to their noggins.
[851.58] Tony: I have seen and know of a guy who's put a handgun,
[857.58] Tony: a BB gun, airsoft handgun on a quad,
[861.58] Tony: and flown it around...
[862.58] Tony: Are we friends with these people?
[865.58] Tony: No.
[867.58] Tony: Why not?
[868.58] Stephen: In fact, we've never even heard of them.
[869.58] Stephen: We don't know them at all.
[871.58] Tony: We can be.
[872.58] Tony: I think it's Nico on YouTube.
[875.58] Stephen: So Clive is saying Article 16 gives you up to three and a half kilos
[880.58] Stephen: of high-speed death to play within the park.
[882.58] Tony: Well, that's ex-class territory.
[886.58] Stephen: Yeah, flying ex-class.
[887.58] Stephen: But you can't...
[888.58] Stephen: You've got to be at least 15 metres away from the public
[890.58] Stephen: when you take off with your ex-class around the park tone.
[893.58] Stephen: I can't remember that.
[894.58] Stephen: That's all right.
[895.58] Stephen: Then you can fly around at a height of 30 metres.
[898.58] Jack: So long as you've got your spotter.
[900.58] Jack: Trouble is, one or two of those metres are taken up
[903.58] Jack: by the actual ex-class itself.
[905.58] Jack: Well, yeah.
[906.58] Jack: Then you measure it from the edge or the prop,
[908.58] Jack: center of the prop or the whole thing.
[911.58] Stephen: Ex-class is quite friendly, isn't it?
[913.58] Stephen: Because it's quite a low noise.
[914.58] Stephen: It's not like a shrill five-inch.
[916.58] Stephen: It's just more of a wumpa, wumpa, wumpa, wumpa.
[918.58] Stephen: That's it.
[919.58] Tony: And they can't see it coming.
[922.58] Tony: I mean, look at the size of it.
[923.58] Tony: That noise.
[924.58] Tony: I like that noise.
[926.58] Tony: Can you do a...
[927.58] Tony: Can you record that, please?
[928.58] Tony: Wumpa, wumpa, wumpa.
[929.58] Jack: Wumpa, wumpa, wumpa, wumpa, wumpa.
[931.58] Jack: Wumpa-mating-go.
[932.58] Jack: A-ra-ra-ra.
[933.58] Jack: That's a bit like a drunk Pac-Man.
[936.58] Stephen: Show us what you've got in your hand, Stephen.
[940.86] Stephen: So I've been trying not to hit this and knock my drink over,
[943.86] Stephen: so I might as well show it to people.
[944.86] Stephen: I've been building my knockoff catalyst machine work,
[947.86] Stephen: not a catalyst machine work.
[949.86] Stephen: This is the talist machine from Banggood
[953.86] Stephen: and not a bang god, because I'm a cheapo and I got annoyed with their shipping.
[958.58] Stephen: I've been building it out, I've got an air unit on there, I've got an H7, I've got one
[963.66] Stephen: of those Foxia Mini 65A 8S ESCs, and it's all on there.
[969.7] Stephen: The motors do spin in the correct direction, because it's got quite a lot of costly components
[974.54] Stephen: on there.
[975.54] Stephen: I'm bricking myself about actually maiming it and ending up in a puddle, so I haven't
[979.66] Stephen: flown it yet.
[980.66] Stephen: I've got GPS in there as well, Matek M8 GPS.
[983.98] Tony: It would be nice to know how quickly that gets satellites, because even though I upgraded
[989.54] Tony: mine, you still have to leave it on the floor for a couple of minutes.
[993.22] Stephen: I usually find that if I fly two packs on the five inch, then the second pack I've got
[997.98] Stephen: GPS, and that's just kind of what I do, like fly a pack without GPS, and then when I need
[1003.18] Stephen: the GPS it's there, the second pack.
[1005.58] Curry: I find I get more satellites quickly by flying.
[1009.22] Curry: Now, one could argue that you're closer to the satellites, but it seems to not like being
[1014.54] Curry: on the ground.
[1015.54] Curry: I don't know if there's some sort of grounding, whatever, but yeah, it's definitely happening.
[1021.5] Jack: Close to the liquid iron core or whatever it is, even though Tony thinks...
[1029.58] Jack: Not in a meaningful way, man.
[1031.98] Jack: I think it's just...
[1032.98] Jack: Or is it Membrane?
[1036.14] Stephen: If you fly around, you'll hit it.
[1041.3] Stephen: Fly around your head, don't get lost, but punch it up to 20 metres or something.
[1046.02] Tony: Turn it on, take off, fly around yourself until you get to the night.
[1050.82] Stephen: It's more fun than sitting there watching it, isn't it?
[1052.78] Tony: Well, I know, because I sit there on 25 milliwatt, otherwise it gets quite hot if you have it
[1059.86] Tony: on a different kind of milliwatt.
[1063.26] Jack: Something that's good about that.
[1066.26] Jack: Not where you could power it up early.
[1068.58] Curry: You could just power it up.
[1070.42] Curry: But some people as well just say, well, I just plug in the USB.
[1073.62] Curry: And if your flight controller powers the GPS that way via 5 volts, that's another way of
[1079.18] Curry: doing it.
[1080.18] Curry: You just take a little power pack along the way.
[1082.54] Stephen: It's actually got a user mode switch for the 8-volt reg, so you can have it on a toggle
[1088.06] Stephen: switch and I can toggle off my air unit while I'm on the ground.
[1092.18] Stephen: Of course I haven't set it up yet, because there's no way I want to accidentally switch
[1095.7] Stephen: the air unit off while I'm flying.
[1097.1] Stephen: That would be the world's worst idea.
[1099.34] Stephen: But you can if you were doing INAF or something that afforded you an oh-shit perfect the wrong
[1103.74] Stephen: button switch that could just like lock it in place or something.
[1107.62] Tony: Well, so you've basically got to do your maiden, and then test your return to home, and oh,
[1116.66] Tony: you've got to get in touch.
[1117.66] Curry: Stop calling it return to home.
[1119.34] Curry: It's crash time.
[1120.34] Curry: Return to crash.
[1121.34] Stephen: Rescue mode.
[1122.34] Tony: Yeah.
[1123.34] Tony: Rescue mode.
[1124.34] Stephen: It's more like pilot assault mode, isn't it?
[1126.02] Stephen: It just flies at you, and it's up to you to recover it before it does injury to you or
[1130.14] Stephen: others.
[1131.14] Stephen: I wasn't going to...
[1132.14] Stephen: Most of them I use just as a speedo, I don't really...
[1135.62] Stephen: It's nice in case I screw up and ditch it somewhere, but I wouldn't trust the return
[1139.86] Tony: to home.
[1140.86] Tony: You're not driving as a speedo, is there?
[1141.86] Stephen: No.
[1142.86] Stephen: You'd have to set...
[1143.94] Stephen: So I fly in a park with like massive oak trees, I'd have to guess at how tall they
[1147.5] Stephen: were, and then it'd probably end up stuck in an oak tree, that's what I'm saying.
[1154.66] Stephen: Probably in an oak tree.
[1155.66] Tony: It's good to have on a long distance, though.
[1157.66] Stephen: Oh, yeah, sure.
[1158.66] Stephen: Yeah.
[1159.66] Stephen: I think so.
[1160.66] Jack: I...
[1161.66] Jack: Earlier on in the week, I dropped my transmitter on the floor and broke more switches off it,
[1168.62] Jack: so that was a...
[1169.62] Tony: They're always breaking off the transmission.
[1172.22] Jack: 20...
[1173.22] Jack: Yeah, like 20 quid.
[1174.82] Jack: They're special bloody switches that...
[1178.3] Jack: On to the black plastic backs on them that are smaller.
[1184.38] Jack: You can't use the ordinary red ones.
[1187.98] Jack: So that was another 20 pound...
[1189.22] Stephen: That's going to be a point where you've spent enough on switches that you might as well
[1192.42] Stephen: have just bought a TX16S and called it good.
[1195.02] Jack: Yeah, might as well have just replaced them all with like...
[1198.94] Stephen: You know how many switches you get and then you ready a master?
[1202.9] Stephen: Get a full set, Jack.
[1204.18] Stephen: Full set of switches.
[1205.18] Stephen: Yeah.
[1206.18] Stephen: Look at it that way.
[1208.18] Jack: Yeah.
[1209.18] Jack: I'm not...
[1210.18] Tony: Are you ready to change, Jack, though?
[1212.62] Tony: Are you ready to hold something different in your hands?
[1216.18] Jack: I don't like where this is going.
[1220.5] Tony: Well, you know what I mean?
[1223.42] Tony: I've flown with the Tyrannus, my same one for six, seven years now.
[1229.14] Tony: And if you gave me something else to fly with, I'd be like, oh, this feels weird.
[1234.02] Tony: I don't think I'd like it.
[1236.5] Curry: I think I've flown with a Tyrannus every day now.
[1239.42] Curry: I can't remember what a Tyrannus feels like.
[1241.58] Tony: What was that, Kerry?
[1243.18] Tony: You fly different controllers all the time.
[1245.38] Curry: I tend to fly so many different radios.
[1247.9] Curry: It's quite handy that Express LRS has allowed me to sort of fly anything to anything because
[1255.1] Curry: then I just take out like, oh, here's a new radio they want me to test, but I just put
[1258.82] Curry: this module in, use my bind phrase, and I'm flying this other one instead.
[1262.74] Curry: You're off.
[1263.74] Curry: Which is different.
[1264.74] Curry: At the moment, I'm really liking the...
[1266.74] Curry: Lost it now.
[1268.26] Curry: The TBS... not Tango, what's the other one?
[1273.34] Curry: Mambo.
[1274.34] Curry: Mambo.
[1275.34] Curry: That's quite a nice feeling in your hand.
[1276.82] Curry: Quite different.
[1277.82] Curry: It's quite nice putting it in the bag because it's got no antenna of itself.
[1281.1] Curry: What do you reckon if the switch is?
[1283.74] Stephen: Because those are push-in switches, aren't they?
[1285.78] Curry: They're not the toggle switches.
[1287.66] Curry: That's right.
[1289.5] Curry: It's weird to start with, but it kind of makes sense on the arm and disarm because a couple
[1293.74] Curry: of times on other radios, because I put myself into air mode on the switch that's next to
[1301.62] Curry: my arm and take it out.
[1303.62] Curry: A couple of times, I've flipped the wrong switch and just gone thud and it's dropped
[1307.18] Curry: out.
[1308.18] Curry: At least with those switches, you know, oh, that's not a normal switch, that's my arm
[1312.7] Curry: switch.
[1313.7] Tony: I've caught a switch taking it off or putting it down and I've caught it on a twig or something
[1317.02] Tony: and armed it.
[1318.38] Tony: It's gone off.
[1319.38] Stephen: Well, I did that when I was an LTO no.
[1321.62] Stephen: That's why I did the two-stage arming because I got up out of a chair and knocked it on
[1327.1] Stephen: my knee or something and just freaking armed the quad.
[1330.02] Tony: Easy to be done, but yeah, I suppose it's a push-in button.
[1333.9] Tony: You wouldn't have that problem, would you?
[1336.38] Jack: If I could, yeah, like just an ordinary shell that without any holes in it for switches,
[1345.14] Jack: I would be so tempted to just replace them all with rocker switches.
[1349.46] Jack: So tell me again why you don't have a 3D printer.
[1352.02] Jack: I do.
[1353.02] Jack: He does.
[1354.02] Stephen: Well, that's the answer to your previous question.
[1358.67] Jack: What?
[1359.67] Jack: Fill in the holes in my 3D printer?
[1363.47] Jack: Just like print your own shell.
[1365.31] Jack: I can't print my own shell.
[1368.67] Stephen: Well, that does sound awful to be fair.
[1372.27] Stephen: There's literally designs up there.
[1375.19] Stephen: If you follow the Express LRS channel, there's people who've taken like a tealight and put
[1379.39] Stephen: it in their own kind of tango juice style case and stuff.
[1383.03] Stephen: All sorts of business.
[1385.03] Jack: No way.
[1386.03] Jack: Caroline, a neck strap wouldn't have saved me.
[1390.19] Jack: I literally put it on some washing on top of my reflow oven and it literally fell no
[1399.07] Jack: more than, I don't know, 30 centimetres and just smashed all the switches off.
[1404.71] Curry: In Jack's house, there's a weird pile of washing on top of a reflow oven.
[1409.51] Curry: That's why I keep on washing.
[1411.51] Curry: It's a tyrannis.
[1412.51] Curry: Somehow.
[1413.51] Stephen: I imagine the stack is something like this, there's a reflow oven with washing on top
[1419.35] Stephen: and underneath the reflow oven there's a fire extinguisher keeping the reflow oven falling
[1423.59] Stephen: to one side.
[1425.59] Jack: Yeah.
[1428.11] Jack: That's it.
[1429.11] Jack: That's it.
[1430.11] Jack: I don't know.
[1432.11] Jack: The good old reflow oven, it wouldn't have saved me.
[1436.19] Jack: I might as well just keep the tyrannis in a bag.
[1441.19] Stephen: Might as well just keep it at head height on a rope so you can hit it in the face the
[1445.95] Stephen: whole time.
[1447.83] Stephen: I've smashed one switch and I've got, I'm a bit rough with them, but yeah, you've smashed
[1453.07] Stephen: a lot of switches.
[1454.07] Stephen: I don't know how you do that.
[1455.35] Curry: I've not broken one switch.
[1457.83] Curry: Ever.
[1458.83] Curry: I probably want to take them out of the bag.
[1461.83] Curry: I don't keep, you know, balancing them precariously around the house.
[1465.67] Jack: I like doing that.
[1466.91] Jack: It's like, you know that guy that like the gen rocks, like you pile up the rocks.
[1472.31] Jack: That's exactly what I'm thinking of, man.
[1475.19] Jack: That's what I do.
[1476.19] Jack: You know, until I'm done.
[1477.19] Stephen: You need to get more radios.
[1478.19] Stephen: You only got one radio.
[1479.83] Stephen: Maybe that's where you're going wrong.
[1480.83] Stephen: You're not a zen like enough.
[1481.83] Jack: No, we've got three.
[1482.83] Stephen: Really?
[1483.83] Stephen: Have you tried stacking in my temperature?
[1487.07] Stephen: Next week, I broke the switches and all three of my radios.
[1489.91] Tony: I want to see a picture of them in a stream.
[1496.99] Jack: They will just fall into the screen, but even before I like balance them, they'll just go
[1502.67] Jack: in.
[1503.67] Stephen: I've been fanning around with this ancient radio flash.
[1510.19] Stephen: So much firmware to this this week.
[1512.55] Stephen: It's untrue.
[1513.55] Stephen: Like, I've had that little DFU mode flasher open all the time.
[1517.79] Tony: It's got more power in there now than they had to launch the space shuttle.
[1523.59] Stephen: That module probably has more power than they used to launch the space shuttle.
[1526.67] Stephen: It's one of those.
[1527.67] Stephen: Let's fire it up.
[1528.67] Stephen: It's one of the beta FPV ones with a little OLED on there as well.
[1532.99] Jack: Have they now integrated it so that the OLED works itself?
[1537.75] Stephen: Yeah.
[1538.75] Stephen: Yeah.
[1540.31] Stephen: They actually handed it to the people who aren't professionals and they wrote proper
[1543.83] Stephen: code that isn't screwed.
[1545.65] Stephen: So yeah, now it doesn't just fail safe when you press the button, which it was doing before.
[1551.67] Curry: That's because it currently does nothing at all when you press the button.
[1554.15] Curry: That was the workaround.
[1555.15] Curry: The button doesn't do anything.
[1556.15] Stephen: Yeah.
[1557.15] Stephen: So if it's armed, it doesn't do anything.
[1559.03] Stephen: But if you disarm...
[1560.03] Stephen: It doesn't do anything otherwise either.
[1562.27] Stephen: It does.
[1563.27] Stephen: I'm using master, I should say.
[1564.27] Stephen: I'm not using the 201.
[1565.27] Stephen: Oh, okay.
[1566.27] Stephen: So this is a master branch.
[1567.27] Stephen: Yeah.
[1568.27] Stephen: The master branch, the five-way joystick works, you've got the four directions and a clicky
[1572.07] Stephen: in the middle.
[1573.07] Curry: So is the master branch essentially 2.1?
[1575.23] Curry: Yeah.
[1576.23] Curry: It's what's going to be 2.1.
[1577.23] Curry: Oh, okay.
[1578.23] Curry: Fair enough.
[1579.23] Curry: Yeah.
[1580.23] Curry: And the release code, it doesn't do anything.
[1581.23] Curry: It's just a nice little thing you can twiddle with if you bought a bit short to run official
[1584.59] Jack: releases.
[1585.59] Jack: I should put a game of Snake on there.
[1588.91] Stephen: I've got this and it wouldn't print on, you know, the crossfire device page when it tells
[1594.27] Stephen: you like, oh, there's your TX and there's your RX and there's Betaflight or whatever.
[1599.39] Stephen: It wasn't showing me the TX unless I went into the code and changed the name and made
[1603.63] Stephen: it shorter and then it would work.
[1605.23] Stephen: What the hell?
[1606.23] Stephen: And I went on a forum, people are like, oh, it works.
[1608.79] Stephen: I've written a fix.
[1609.87] Stephen: It totally works.
[1610.87] Stephen: And I put their fix on and I'm like, no, it still doesn't work.
[1613.59] Stephen: And now I found out actually, if you put it on 500 hertz mode, the stick movements are
[1618.79] Stephen: so frequent.
[1619.79] Stephen: You actually go in the middle of the field that updates those names in the device page.
[1626.59] Stephen: So your radio has to like be able to pause the transfer of the name of your device, take
[1632.15] Stephen: a stick movement and then pick up the rest of it.
[1634.87] Stephen: And apparently the TX does that, but deviation TX just goes, you what?
[1639.07] Stephen: And stops.
[1640.07] Stephen: It doesn't render it.
[1641.07] Jack: I didn't understand a word of that.
[1643.79] Jack: I need a whiteboard and some pictures.
[1647.51] Stephen: I'll bring a lab coat and some Sharpies next time and a little chart.
[1651.47] Stephen: You can go through.
[1652.47] Jack: Is it you talk about the refresh rate or?
[1655.71] Stephen: Yeah.
[1656.71] Stephen: So like you've got menu data going through the connection from the module to the radio
[1661.07] Stephen: and you've also got stick movements.
[1663.27] Stephen: And normally you fire a menu field through and it's just like, blip, done.
[1668.27] Stephen: But that only works up to like 14 characters.
[1670.91] Stephen: If you've got more than 14 characters at 500 hertz, that time taken to send the menu field
[1676.47] Stephen: is actually longer than the gap between two stick movements.
[1679.79] Stephen: So it has to send a bit of the menu field, a stick movement and then the rest of the
[1683.19] Stephen: menu field.
[1685.63] Stephen: And because of that, it just screws up the transfer on on deviation TX, but open TX
[1690.47] Stephen: is able to like listen for the menu field, take the stick movement, pause slightly and
[1695.91] Stephen: then take the rest of the menu field.
[1698.19] UNKNOWN: Okay.
[1699.19] Jack: Magic.
[1700.63] Jack: Good enough.
[1701.63] Jack: Blast off.
[1702.63] Jack: Whatever you do, do not do that because the switches are hollow to a certain point.
[1710.27] Jack: He said, I'm thinking of cutting off my switches.
[1712.43] Jack: It's a really nice.
[1713.43] Jack: They're very sharp.
[1714.43] Stephen: I snapped mine.
[1716.03] Jack: Yeah.
[1717.03] Jack: And they've got like a little hollow bit in the middle with a spring and that's how it
[1722.15] Jack: keeps tension to the spring or fly out.
[1725.91] Jack: Yeah.
[1726.91] Jack: Yeah.
[1727.91] Jack: So just by shorter switches.
[1732.23] Stephen: You can buy the two position like clicking, click out ones as well.
[1736.23] Stephen: But someone told me that it lasts very long.
[1739.11] Stephen: Really?
[1740.11] Stephen: Yeah.
[1741.11] Stephen: Because I was going to replace mine after I snapped them off.
[1744.39] Stephen: Latching ones.
[1745.39] Stephen: Exactly.
[1746.39] Stephen: Yeah.
[1747.39] Stephen: Two position, latching or three position, latching, whatever.
[1750.19] Jack: Yeah.
[1751.19] Jack: Yeah.
[1752.19] Jack: Yeah.
[1753.19] Jack: Shady.
[1754.19] Jack: Shady's now proclaiming I'm an idiot.
[1756.03] Jack: I could actually see that going straight over Jack's head.
[1760.27] Frank: This episode was recorded in front of a live online audience, downloaded and edited to
[1764.39] Frank: make sense when it played audio only, censored to please the iTunes people, hosted on the
[1769.23] Frank: internet, forwarded through to your podcast provider, downloaded, playing on your device
[1773.43] Frank: and is now playing in your ears.
[1775.35] Frank: All thanks to our Patreons.
[1777.75] Frank: Consider joining them and you'll also get other online benefits.
[1781.03] Frank: Find out more at patreon.com forward slash let's drone out.
[1785.55] Stephen: Enough talking about timing and sticks and code.
[1789.23] Stephen: Who's crashed into a tree?
[1792.15] Curry: Maybe we could talk about.
[1794.15] Curry: I saw an interesting video and I wanted to talk about it in terms of what we use to determine
[1801.71] Curry: if we're about to run out of battery and crash.
[1804.07] Curry: Could I quickly share a bit with you?
[1807.55] Curry: Which looks like a Chrome tab.
[1812.03] Jack: And when your punch outs are no longer exciting, it's just this is Frank in the chat by the
[1821.56] Jack: way.
[1822.56] Jack: Yeah.
[1823.56] Curry: The leader car.
[1824.56] Curry: So this is by a guy called.
[1825.56] Curry: I can't remember his name now because I've just maximized it.
[1828.32] Curry: But he's flying long distance in Canada and he's going out through these glaciers.
[1834.64] Curry: And it's really interesting to watch.
[1837.0] Stephen: He's on.
[1838.0] Stephen: 1500 million powers.
[1839.0] Curry: It's a giveaway.
[1840.0] Curry: He doesn't get the quad back, but what he's doing is only looking at the the million powers
[1851.4] Curry: use because he's like, oh, I know how many million powers I've got.
[1855.52] Curry: And they don't realize it for ages.
[1857.84] Curry: And then he's like, look at his battery voltage.
[1860.0] Curry: He's like, oh, I'm not gonna make this home.
[1862.0] Curry: He's got his spotter actually calling out some of this data and they both missed it
[1865.56] Curry: because he's like, oh, I know I've got five thousand million our battery or whatever.
[1870.28] Curry: And I've looked at my million powers I've gone through and it's fine.
[1872.94] Curry: He made an adjustment to his current meter and that basically completely screwed it up.
[1880.4] Curry: And so he was getting false data.
[1882.48] Curry: It was reading much.
[1883.92] Stephen: So what do people like repeatedly tell you when you go on to these flight forums and
[1888.12] Stephen: ask about like, oh, I've got a three hundred million dollar battery in my little woop.
[1891.66] Stephen: Can I fly it until blah, blah, blah?
[1893.62] Stephen: They always say, like ignore the current meter because it's easy to misconfigure it.
[1898.66] Stephen: Yeah, exactly.
[1900.3] Curry: And I mean, look at that is two volts per cell.
[1904.42] Curry: The fact he got this far is amazing.
[1907.94] Stephen: But I'm just like, why is he still flying over the tall trees and not just putting it
[1911.74] Stephen: down by the side of a river and hiking up?
[1913.5] Tony: I would have put it somewhere that I could see.
[1915.9] Curry: He was trying to get towards a road to put it down and I reckon he came down maybe two
[1922.26] Curry: hundred meters short of a road.
[1924.66] Curry: But what happened is the it was so dense and it's cliffs and it's full of, you know, ice
[1932.78] Curry: cold water.
[1933.78] Curry: And I imagine there's attempting to eat you.
[1936.42] Curry: So he just couldn't get it.
[1940.14] Curry: So he didn't.
[1941.14] Curry: He didn't get his GoPro back.
[1942.14] Curry: He's I mean, it's quite experienced in long range.
[1944.98] Tony: He's done a lot of flights.
[1946.26] Tony: I've seen this guy, Falconrad FPV.
[1948.9] Tony: Yeah.
[1949.9] Tony: I see him doing that in the winter.
[1952.02] Tony: He flew that route in the winter.
[1954.38] Tony: But for me, I'd have a timer for a start.
[1957.98] UNKNOWN: Yeah.
[1958.98] Tony: I just trust the voltage more than the voltage I'd be looking at in time.
[1963.98] Stephen: It's not like he's freestyling, is it?
[1965.86] Stephen: He's not going to get like massive sag.
[1968.06] Stephen: He's just flying very slowly and gradually.
[1970.14] Stephen: And OK, he's going up a mountain, but he's not going up the mountain at like 100 percent
[1973.82] Stephen: throttle.
[1974.82] Stephen: It's just so slowly.
[1976.7] Curry: But yeah, it was more interesting to me about what he used because I'm like you, I use voltage.
[1981.74] Curry: I don't use a Purcell voltage.
[1983.26] Curry: I always look at my main voltage.
[1984.9] Curry: But in any in any model, I know, you know, this can go for five minutes or 10 minutes
[1989.98] Curry: on this sort of throttle I'm using and always use that as my guide.
[1993.14] Curry: I was just so interested.
[1995.06] Curry: I mean, he said he was slightly put off because he's trying to record live commentary.
[1998.94] Curry: I'd recommend anybody watch the video.
[2000.5] Curry: It's quite interesting.
[2001.5] Curry: I'll shove a link in the chat.
[2004.7] Curry: It looks like some people have actually seen it anyway.
[2007.58] Curry: But but yeah, you guys are the same.
[2009.66] Curry: It sounds like a voltage timer.
[2014.42] Curry: You'd have an alarm on your your radio.
[2017.58] Tony: Yeah, into a tree is to be glided back into a tree.
[2023.38] Tony: And I know that if it's, you know, different weather, not to push it.
[2029.18] Tony: If it's colder, don't go as far.
[2030.98] Stephen: Yeah. Yeah. If it's cold, the battery's not going to get light on your arm.
[2035.5] Tony: You know, you might knock a minute off your flight time.
[2038.5] Tony: So if I've got a 10 minute battery and I can go out five minutes, come back five minutes.
[2042.86] Stephen: People were talking about lipo warmers.
[2044.98] Stephen: Apparently, this is starting to be more of a trend now.
[2047.98] Stephen: Get your your lipo bag and just chuck some sort of electric heater in there.
[2052.06] Stephen: And some of the bags, the fancy ones.
[2055.06] Stephen: Come in with their own heating elements built in.
[2057.58] Tony: Yeah, I was.
[2059.7] Tony: I've had to put one under my arm, my little mini, too.
[2062.74] Tony: I've tried to take off and check some gutter cleaning the other day.
[2065.74] Tony: And it was like too cold to take off.
[2067.46] Tony: And I was like, Oh, for God's sake, because it had been sitting in my van.
[2070.54] Tony: So literally stuck it under my arm for a couple of minutes and put it in and it worked.
[2073.66] Tony: But it's definitely a thing.
[2076.94] Tony: And then, of course, you've got weather and, you know, you've got all kinds of things.
[2080.94] Tony: Wind, you know, make sure you're flying into the wind.
[2084.42] Curry: And yeah, that's that's a common one.
[2086.5] Curry: I mean, I have got an example of it, but I've seen a whole bunch of people
[2090.26] Curry: that are flying along saying, hey, I'm going really fast.
[2093.06] Curry: This is going really well.
[2094.1] Curry: I can't believe how much more efficient my quad is.
[2096.3] Curry: Of course, they turn around and they're like, oh, that's weird.
[2098.5] Curry: It's not going to be struggling in there.
[2100.78] Curry: Oh, the wind.
[2102.1] Curry: The wind's going with me on the way out.
[2103.98] Curry: That's weird. It's like, come on.
[2107.78] Curry: Especially with the way that really gets you, huh?
[2110.98] Curry: Yeah, always always go into the wind on the way out.
[2114.26] Curry: It's a bit of a pain if that's not the way you want to go.
[2116.26] Curry: But if you go, if you go with the wind, you're going to be.
[2119.3] Stephen: Do you see where's this video who is doing the long range testing?
[2123.22] Stephen: That was sad.
[2125.22] Curry: Oh, I haven't seen the latest one.
[2126.38] Stephen: I've seen some of his stuff.
[2128.18] Stephen: He had this plane called a believer, which is some giant mapping plane.
[2132.06] Stephen: And he'd been building this thing for like six or seven months.
[2135.06] Stephen: It's just an epic, like two meter wingspan, dual engine thing.
[2139.18] Stephen: And of course, like he made it.
[2140.9] Stephen: It's like our controls are a bit weird.
[2142.34] Stephen: Second made installs it.
[2143.82] Stephen: And it's just in pieces of no more than like six inch square.
[2149.26] Stephen: Just exploded everywhere.
[2151.78] Stephen: It's got it.
[2154.14] Curry: Oh, that sounds like two meter wing on the first two launches when it went up
[2157.78] Curry: and then went down and exploded into lots of fun.
[2161.1] Tony: Yeah, Stephen, are you going to
[2163.7] Tony: are you going to have a maiden camera?
[2167.18] Tony: Can we watch you go long distance and do a talk and go?
[2171.7] Tony: Oh, I'm scared.
[2173.22] Tony: I'm running out.
[2174.18] Stephen: I'm near the oak tree.
[2175.5] Stephen: Yeah, I am now stuck in the oak tree.
[2178.66] Stephen: I am now looking for a pole long enough to reach the oak tree.
[2183.38] Tony: I want to see a video of you, your long distance flights.
[2187.78] Tony: Where are you going to go?
[2188.58] Stephen: Long distance near you.
[2190.7] Stephen: I'm going to have to get out of London.
[2192.02] Stephen: I might play a visit to the guys in Chingford Plains,
[2195.54] Stephen: but their field isn't even that big.
[2198.78] Stephen: So I'm in London.
[2200.22] Stephen: No secret there.
[2202.5] Stephen: There's not really anywhere around here you can go long distance.
[2204.9] Tony: You have to go down a coast or something.
[2207.1] Stephen: Yeah, you can just follow the Thames.
[2210.5] Tony: Thames is a bit windy windy.
[2213.38] Stephen: It's covered with houses, so you've got a really bad RF profile as well.
[2217.98] Stephen: That's nice.
[2219.14] Stephen: What's the development?
[2220.3] Stephen: You don't really want to be doing long range over areas with tons of interference, do you?
[2225.58] Stephen: Well, to be honest, it wasn't built as long range.
[2228.98] Tony: Any big lakes in London?
[2231.3] Stephen: It was built as basically a seven inch freestyle quad.
[2236.06] Stephen: It's ended up being about 900 grams.
[2239.1] Stephen: I think that's with the lipo.
[2241.54] Frank: Not bad.
[2242.38] Stephen: So it'll be quite punchy little number.
[2244.94] Stephen: And I just wanted to screw around.
[2246.94] Stephen: I had this idea that I could have a 6S.
[2249.38] Stephen: GMB make a 6S 2200 and they also make a 2S 2200.
[2254.46] Stephen: So I was going to get a Y cable and try and go from 6S to 8S and see how it performed.
[2259.18] Stephen: Just with giggles, you know.
[2262.18] Tony: I need to buy this spring.
[2264.94] Tony: I need to get a load.
[2266.94] Tony: Need to spend a couple of hundred quid on some batteries.
[2269.94] Tony: I need another long distance battery, which I'm going to go up a few sizes.
[2275.58] Tony: I think I've got a 6S 2200 and I'm going to go.
[2279.62] Tony: I think I'm going to.
[2281.26] Tony: What is what did Martian McFly fly on his?
[2285.66] Stephen: I know that Numskull was talking about like forty two hundred or forty four hundred.
[2291.06] Stephen: But he's got a much longer plate on his.
[2293.18] Stephen: Like that will only I checked.
[2295.06] Stephen: It'll only take a twenty two hundred standard size.
[2297.86] Tony: Yeah, I think I'm going to try four thousand million.
[2301.18] Curry: And you can do Lion packs if you're doing long range.
[2304.02] Tony: Well, I've asked my mate.
[2306.46] Tony: He said he was going to make me something.
[2307.82] Tony: He hasn't made any yet.
[2309.82] Tony: But yeah, I could buy a Lion pack, but I've never flown Lion at all.
[2313.86] Stephen: Someone was talking about one on Farin's frames that they found, which was a 6S 2P pack.
[2319.82] Stephen: And they'd used like twenty one seven hundred cells.
[2322.5] Stephen: So they're like four thousand milliamp hour per cell.
[2325.46] Stephen: So it was an eight amp hour 6S pack.
[2328.54] Stephen: It weighed eight hundred and forty one grams.
[2331.5] Stephen: It's just a beast.
[2333.34] Stephen: That would be an interesting thing for a long ranger.
[2336.5] Stephen: If you've got like a nine inch quad, you can put it on.
[2339.06] Stephen: I'm not even sure that the seven inch should handle that.
[2343.46] Tony: Well, the Tommy Hawk can take four thousand million because I think that's what Numskull was flying with.
[2349.58] Tony: And I'm saying, I'm sure.
[2351.9] Stephen: How much weight can you lift before it starts like handling like a ship or boat?
[2357.62] Tony: That's the thing, isn't it?
[2360.5] Tony: That's the thing that you'd have to.
[2362.9] Curry: Then again, if you're doing long range, then it you are sort of it's a cruise.
[2367.22] Tony: Yes, just cruising.
[2369.98] Stephen: There's a balance, though, like the amount of weight you can carry before you start getting hot motors.
[2374.38] Curry: And you don't want to be flying at some point.
[2378.02] Curry: It becomes less efficient and the curve goes like this.
[2382.5] Tony: Well, that's the thing that Numskull in the chat is going to try seven thousand million next week,
[2387.94] Tony: which could be over the top, where it's you don't get any advantage.
[2392.86] Stephen: Some of these new packs are really lightweight.
[2395.26] Stephen: It's hard to tell what the weight is going to be these days, especially some of those GMB packs.
[2399.46] Stephen: I've been surprised by how light they are.
[2403.18] Stephen: So actually, someone was posting hobby RCLinks that they actually have some pretty good value
[2412.18] Stephen: lithium packs.
[2413.42] Stephen: And I've got a 2S and a 3S because I don't have any giant quads.
[2417.06] Stephen: But GMB have started doing two ranges.
[2420.1] Stephen: They've got like these cheapo 2500 milliamp power packs using unbranded cells.
[2426.34] Stephen: And then they've got the Sony VTC6 packs, which are 3000 milliamp power.
[2433.66] Stephen: And the cheaper ones, the 2500 milliamp power ones, they are super cheap.
[2439.78] Stephen: Like a 6S pack is 20 quid, which is nuts for lithium.
[2446.58] Tony: Even if it lasts, I mean, even if it lasts a year for that price,
[2452.7] Tony: because I've just got all my Overlander stuff, 4S stuff is probably three years old now.
[2459.94] Tony: So God knows how many times they've been flown.
[2462.78] Tony: Some of them are even older than that.
[2464.34] Tony: Some of them have been raced.
[2465.54] Tony: So I haven't raced for two, three years.
[2470.1] Stephen: It's learning to do 10C days.
[2472.26] Stephen: So you've got to make sure you're not pulling more than 25 amps or it's going to crap out.
[2478.06] Stephen: Obviously, the Sony ones are going to be a bit punchier than 10C.
[2482.22] Stephen: But I flew the 3S one on a five inch with like 2800 kV motors, like a super lightweight
[2490.06] Stephen: five inch.
[2491.06] Stephen: And it was happy enough.
[2492.06] Stephen: I got like 12 minutes and then got bored and just brought it in.
[2494.74] Curry: I'm just looking at it in the head.
[2497.54] Curry: You really wouldn't do well on fixed wing.
[2500.3] Stephen: Yeah.
[2501.3] Stephen: So what can you do?
[2503.9] Stephen: Freestyle moves, mess around, it starts to complain a bit, so you fly around in circles
[2508.02] Stephen: for a bit.
[2509.02] Stephen: It gets boring after three or four minutes.
[2510.82] Stephen: Definitely need a larger area.
[2513.54] Stephen: Exploration.
[2514.54] Stephen: Yeah.
[2515.54] Stephen: Exploration.
[2516.54] Curry: Exploration in the low RF and noise environment, that's the key.
[2520.58] Curry: Well, this was my flying machine today.
[2523.34] Curry: It finally went out.
[2525.54] Curry: The very subtle.
[2526.54] Curry: What's that?
[2527.54] Curry: Is that just a Raspberry Pi Zero on the side?
[2530.38] Curry: Like a weird...
[2531.38] Curry: That's looking a lot nicer than last time, Kerry.
[2534.7] Curry: Not much changed apart from this new camera and lens.
[2538.1] Curry: Which has made the...
[2540.58] Curry: I was having a problem with the tightness of that ribbon cable, which was coming out.
[2547.1] Curry: So we swapped over to a much nicer camera and lens.
[2551.94] Curry: And we actually managed to fly it today, finally.
[2554.5] Curry: I have a video that I think I've got stuff from about one year ago to edit, including
[2560.86] Curry: various failures on trying to get the stupid ten inch quad flying until we got to this
[2567.98] Curry: one.
[2568.98] Curry: This one felt a little bit...
[2573.18] Curry: Because obviously it's got about 100 milliseconds or just a little bit more of a latency.
[2579.02] Curry: So what it feels a little bit like, rather than something that doesn't respond, it feels
[2583.62] Curry: like if you ever fly something that's a bit heavy and underpowered and it's a bit like
[2589.14] Curry: a cruise ship, it's like you move it and it sort of does this.
[2593.66] Curry: So you can fly it like that.
[2594.66] Curry: If you're just cruising around, it's a bit like that.
[2598.14] Curry: Otherwise it was okay.
[2600.14] Curry: I was flying, doing some low passes and getting a little bit of distance and it looked pretty
[2607.34] Curry: good in the goggles.
[2609.54] Curry: So you just want to think like canal holiday and then you're being in the right place.
[2615.26] Curry: That sort of thing.
[2617.42] Curry: I was treating it very gentle to start with and I had some weird things because I had
[2623.14] Curry: the first two flights, I had quite a bit of weird digital breakup and on the last flight
[2628.14] Curry: it was like the breakup's gone away, but I don't know why.
[2631.86] Curry: I was like, am I sitting differently?
[2633.18] Curry: Am I holding the radio differently?
[2636.06] Curry: Much nicer.
[2637.06] Curry: Nice.
[2638.06] Curry: All within about 20 minutes of today.
[2642.7] Curry: But yeah, it was nice to do anyway.
[2646.1] Curry: But as I said, this is a messy build.
[2650.42] Curry: I've seen much nicer things.
[2651.42] Stephen: Maybe I think more in the way of wiring.
[2653.02] Stephen: I thought that looked tidier than when we saw it last.
[2658.1] Curry: It's pretty much the same.
[2659.1] Curry: It's still all the bits on it.
[2661.78] Curry: It's got this big back at the back and I mean, the fact I've had to put it that way around
[2667.5] Curry: is really stupid.
[2668.94] Curry: As I said, there was a guy that built like a three inch quad, but what he did, he selected
[2673.58] Curry: his frame carefully.
[2675.7] Curry: So it was long enough to put the pie in.
[2678.22] Curry: And I also saw on Thingiverse, a couple of people sort of thought about this and they've
[2684.18] Curry: got like a pie zero sort of riser, if you like, so they can put it flat on the plane
[2689.66] Curry: and then put their normal stack on top of it.
[2692.82] Curry: That's given themselves a much better sort of build, but a good start at least.
[2700.26] Stephen: Nice to do.
[2701.26] Stephen: I put a video in the chat from a guy who calls himself Mario FPV and he's been doing a similar
[2706.1] Stephen: thing except he's got a Jetson Nano.
[2708.06] Stephen: The guy's clearly got some money to build.
[2709.82] Curry: Oh, yeah.
[2710.82] Curry: Yeah.
[2711.82] Curry: Mario is the guy I'm talking about.
[2712.82] Curry: Mario built a fantastic three inch quad and in my video now, yeah, yeah, he's got the
[2718.22] Curry: Jetson Nano and a five inch.
[2719.42] Curry: He does a lot of stuff on both Open HD and Ruby HD.
[2726.42] Curry: So yeah, I spoke to Mario and said, this is happening.
[2729.46] Curry: What's going wrong?
[2730.46] Curry: He says you're doing it, you know, do some better solder work.
[2734.58] Curry: Don't use connectors.
[2736.7] Curry: So yeah, it's like, watch my video.
[2739.54] Curry: You learn something about Open HD and then I'll link to Mario's video and then you'll
[2743.74] Curry: learn how to build it properly and fly it more successfully.
[2746.66] Stephen: Well, you say properly, but there's a lot of cable ties on his build.
[2750.38] Stephen: No, there's a lot of cable ties.
[2752.3] Curry: There's always, I mean, have you seen the Jetson Nano?
[2754.34] Curry: It's bloody huge, isn't it?
[2756.1] Curry: That's a difficult thing to mount, to be fair.
[2759.38] Stephen: Yeah, he's got the regular frame and then he's just popped on an extra like four centimeters
[2764.86] Stephen: of plastic standoff on the top.
[2767.7] Stephen: So he's just added four centimeters of plastic and then jammed the Jetson Nano in that with
[2773.74] Stephen: cable ties.
[2774.74] Stephen: It's not the most sophisticated it builds, but it seems to do okay.
[2778.54] Stephen: I did notice he'd really crank down the resolution, evidently he wanted to get some good kind
[2784.46] Stephen: of latency and the only way he could do it would be to, oh, he says this is an eight
[2791.18] Stephen: inch actually.
[2792.18] Stephen: That's odd.
[2793.18] Stephen: I thought it was a five inch.
[2794.18] Stephen: But the only way you can get good latency is to go down to like 360p and at that point
[2798.46] Stephen: might as well just run.
[2801.06] Stephen: Yeah, 360p might as well be running analog, mightn't you though?
[2805.26] Stephen: Yes.
[2806.26] Stephen: Yeah.
[2807.26] Stephen: Or HD0.
[2808.26] Stephen: I think HD0 is not 720p.
[2810.94] Stephen: It's much lower than that because I can't see those blades of grass, know what I mean?
[2815.78] Curry: What I'm generally thinking about open HD is right now it's quite a lot of hassle because
[2819.74] Curry: you should have seen, I haven't got the photos with me, but I had on my, because I'm in the
[2825.74] Curry: middle of a floodplain field, so I've got my Poundland tarpaulin spread out and on that
[2832.34] Curry: I have got these massive goggles, these Ishin goggle 2s because they've got a native and
[2838.18] Curry: a laptop panel and a server and an UPS.
[2841.82] Curry: I managed to do it on this tablet.
[2845.24] Curry: So the tablet's connected via USB to run Ethernet over USB to do the ground recording and I've
[2851.92] Curry: got HDMI from the Pi and then I've got USB out to the like the little dongle for the
[2862.6] Curry: wifi and then that's then plugged into a charger running in power thingy mode, power supply
[2873.32] Curry: mode with a great big 5000mAh doing that and then I've got another USB coming out of that to
[2878.6] Curry: power the goggles with a 9 volt step up, so it's not convenient, but I was thinking like I started
[2884.36] Curry: flying 10 years ago this year and when I was doing that, my first setup, I had a tripod with
[2892.12] Curry: a piece of wood mounted to it that I'd put my VRX on and all this wire coming off to my first pair
[2900.08] Curry: of goggles and these weird antennas and the fact I could get something in the air was just a
[2906.64] Curry: celebration. So it's quite difficult and fiddly at the moment, but give it time and I think it's
[2914.72] Curry: going to come good. It just needs to go back from being Raspberry Pi into like let's integrate this
[2921.84] Curry: into a single board because essentially it's just like take something, get a digital image,
[2929.6] Curry: compress it, send it down, uncompress it the other end, which is exactly what DGI and
[2937.2] Stephen: I'm surprised Jack is into this because this does sound like you're going back to the old frontier
[2941.84] Stephen: days, the wild west of FPV all over again with open HD. Although it was really scary flying
[2950.4] Curry: around, it wasn't scary because I thought I'm going to crash because I crashed all the time,
[2955.28] Curry: it was just because the field was so rare. So if it went down, it's like, well, that's going to be
[2959.6] Curry: it for the day. It's just going to be like sparks and I'll be lucky to get it back. But I was having
[2964.8] Curry: a bit of, you know, you get the sort of shakiness as like that was exciting. The fact I flew it
[2969.28] Curry: around and brought it back again took me back to the good old days of when the entire image freezes
[2974.88] Stephen: and you're like, oh, and then half a second later, it snaps back in and you're like, it's fine,
[2979.68] Curry: it's fine. I didn't get any freezing. I got basically what was happening. And I'll have
[2984.32] Curry: to talk to the open HD people to find out what what I was getting on the first couple of flights,
[2988.88] Curry: I think I was going to about 7% loss from something. And so what I'd get the top,
[2994.72] Curry: the top bit would be fine. And then, you know, that digital breakup where it's like, the screen
[2999.04] Curry: melts. It's all a bit weird, isn't it? So it's not like it's pixelating, it's just sort of a melt.
[3004.88] Curry: So the stuff up here is melted down. But I still, I always had an image I didn't have any freezes.
[3010.4] Curry: But like I said, that last flight is like everything got really clear. And I was like,
[3013.68] Curry: what am I doing differently? And I couldn't, I couldn't work it out. But on that I had like
[3017.36] Curry: about a two or 3% loss in packets. So I need to find out what I'm doing.
[3022.32] Stephen: I mean, it's all down to those plugging connectors, you just need to solder it all up tight.
[3026.88] Stephen: I made you both the same.
[3028.88] Curry: Could be. I mean, the my Wi Fi adapters is like about four inches off the floor,
[3035.12] Curry: which can't be particularly good. You know, it's much nice to be up in the air a bit.
[3040.56] Curry: Are you using goggles or a screen?
[3043.44] Curry: Goggles. I've got these E-Sheen, these old box goggles from E-Sheen,
[3047.92] Curry: because they've got a 1080p screen in there.
[3050.08] Curry: Just take the Wi Fi adapter on the goggles.
[3052.72] Curry: Could do.
[3053.36] Jack: The wild west of FPV. Tony's the one with a cowboy hat, not me.
[3061.2] Curry: I thought he was just auditioning for the YMCA that time.
[3064.32] Stephen: Yeah, I know.
[3066.32] Stephen: Either or.
[3067.36] Stephen: But you're not tempted, though, just to retread the pioneer days,
[3070.32] Stephen: go back to basics with something that barely works
[3072.72] Stephen: and tied together a few zip ties just to see how it goes.
[3076.0] Jack: Like part of me.
[3079.84] Jack: Like I spent the time with Frank building the rat's nest,
[3086.64] Jack: which was his first squad where we got some of the old, you know,
[3093.68] Jack: the BL Heli SEs made by VMAX, the AMP ones.
[3105.84] Jack: Yeah.
[3106.32] Jack: 1806.
[3109.52] Jack: 18, I think.
[3110.56] Jack: 18 amps.
[3112.72] Jack: And the 1806 motors.
[3116.56] Jack: And it runs on 3S with a NACE 32.
[3122.0] Jack: And it is tempting to try and dig some of that crap out
[3130.16] Jack: and then be like, OK, let's go around, you know, like the newcomers
[3135.52] Jack: or like people haven't been in the hobby since our, you know, me and Tony,
[3141.44] Jack: when the dinosaurs used to roam and stuff and Tony was in charge of the dinosaurs
[3146.16] Jack: and be like, yo, this is this is where we came from.
[3149.52] Jack: You know, yeah, in trying to punch in a flip.
[3155.84] Tony: Fly that through that.
[3158.16] Jack: But like my is a tenor if you do.
[3161.28] Jack: Yeah, my biggest challenge with it is finding I've got I've got a NACE board
[3168.72] Jack: and I've got, you know, like I could just put like I've got race start old school motors,
[3178.08] Jack: but it's finding it's finding a Simon KESCS.
[3184.8] Jack: Oh, God.
[3186.08] Stephen: You just allergic to eBay.
[3187.68] Stephen: I mean, I know it's not great.
[3189.92] Jack: Yeah.
[3190.32] Jack: But, you know, you end up like, do I really want to pay like, you know, God knows.
[3195.84] Jack: All right.
[3196.08] Jack: Let's have a look on eBay right now.
[3198.24] Jack: And then they're going to be like, I think that was
[3200.56] Stephen: Bill Safe and I were having a pseudo competition about like the most expensive quad.
[3207.12] Stephen: And I think I found someone who's selling like a NACE 32 for 300 quid.
[3211.68] Jack: Yeah.
[3213.2] Stephen: More than an H7.
[3214.96] Jack: Yeah, it's like, yeah, it was like, you know, it was like the negotiations that broke down
[3222.16] Jack: with selling the blackout where I was just like, no one.
[3228.08] Jack: Yeah, like no one will give you like this.
[3230.48] Curry: The only people left to scumbag.
[3232.88] Curry: In the meantime, that is that is the amount of stuff I had to fly one, one quad.
[3238.08] Curry: If you look, no, I had to sit on my bloody thingy.
[3244.72] Stephen: It's not the amount of stuff.
[3245.92] Stephen: It's the amount of kind of interconnected cable.
[3248.64] Stephen: I couldn't be else.
[3249.68] Stephen: Yeah.
[3249.92] Curry: You've got to keep together.
[3251.76] Curry: The cables are a problem.
[3252.88] Curry: You see that the battery powers the charger and then the power supply gives five volts to the pie.
[3259.44] Curry: And then the USB out the charging.
[3263.68] Stephen: That box next to the battery is just doing a five volt.
[3268.08] Curry: Yeah.
[3268.48] Curry: So the oh, you can see my thing here.
[3271.36] Curry: So there's the battery.
[3272.96] Curry: Yeah, this this is a charger and that is working in power supply.
[3276.88] Curry: So you've got this little XT 60 there that is supplying five volts to the pie here.
[3282.88] Tony: And you flew a trainee.
[3284.0] Curry: And the USB lead is doing what?
[3286.08] Curry: Powering the tablet.
[3287.52] Curry: The USB.
[3288.56] Curry: No, the USB is actually going to this nine volt step up and that's powering the goggles.
[3295.04] Curry: So that's through nine volts.
[3296.96] Curry: We've then got USB going out to this here.
[3301.44] Curry: This is the little Wi-Fi adapter.
[3303.84] Stephen: Oh, my God.
[3304.4] Curry: I didn't even see that.
[3306.16] Curry: This USB lead here is acting as ethernet over USB to the tablet.
[3312.08] Curry: So it's doing the ground recording.
[3314.48] Curry: There's also HDMI coming out of the pie going to the goggles.
[3318.32] Curry: And then we've just got the the radio there.
[3320.96] Curry: That's just being a radio.
[3322.0] Curry: That's just one job.
[3323.44] Stephen: Do you think with a bit of tape and a smaller back, you could just
[3327.36] Stephen: bung a bunch of this stuff on the goggles and you might have some neck strain,
[3331.44] Stephen: but it would all be in one solid mass of kit.
[3336.64] Curry: I think a lot of people have gone back to what I would call the old days.
[3340.32] Curry: In the olden days, lots of people traveled around with tripods and they put their things on.
[3343.92] Curry: Oh, yeah.
[3344.32] Curry: They'd have it all up.
[3345.52] Curry: And, you know, sometimes they'd use like loads of people used to use like one point three or
[3350.32] Curry: two point four and then they'd have a small five point eight repeater so they could still be
[3353.6] Curry: wireless.
[3354.32] Curry: But even with like a wired setup, you could you could mount all that quite nicely on a
[3359.28] Curry: sort of tripod setup and have a much better day.
[3361.36] Curry: And that way I could put the the Wi-Fi adapter more than four inches above the ground,
[3367.84] Stephen: which would probably help.
[3369.52] Stephen: That would definitely help.
[3370.56] Stephen: So I imagine the instant you stand in front of the Wi-Fi adapter, you're more kind of screwed.
[3376.0] Stephen: You just wander around and forget it's there.
[3379.2] Curry: Well, I don't do much wondering what I noticed as well that I haven't got that much cable,
[3383.28] Curry: both in HDMI and power to the goggles.
[3386.72] Curry: So I thought, oh, what if I stand up?
[3389.12] Curry: No, I can't because my head's getting dragged back down.
[3392.72] Curry: You know that this you could pick stuff up and put stuff in different places.
[3396.56] Tony: How many years until that all turns into something?
[3399.84] Tony: Oh, bargain, bargain, Jack.
[3403.6] Tony: What are we looking at?
[3406.4] Stephen: There's one below that's only a tenon, to be fair.
[3410.4] Curry: Yeah, so are you saying original like nays boards are worth money now?
[3415.12] Curry: Because I've got a bunch.
[3416.32] Jack: They're not worth money.
[3417.36] Curry: It's just a bunch of chances.
[3419.2] Curry: It's not the same thing.
[3421.2] Curry: Have you checked the like the completed auctions?
[3423.92] Jack: Simon Kaye.
[3425.92] Jack: I mean, I doubt they're even Simon Kaye, 20 quid.
[3431.28] Curry: But to be Simon Kaye, they just have to work on a certain processor, don't they?
[3436.8] Curry: And if they do, you can flash Simon Kaye to them.
[3439.36] Jack: Yeah, that's what I meant.
[3440.32] Jack: The 12 amp Simon Kaye, like six quid each.
[3444.4] Jack: And it's like, oh, and then I don't have any 1806 motors.
[3450.64] Stephen: Why not just does it all have to be authentic?
[3453.44] Jack: Are we completely going?
[3454.72] Jack: Yeah, you need it.
[3456.24] Jack: You need it to be.
[3458.24] Jack: You really need it to be completely.
[3462.0] Tony: I've got really old props, you know.
[3465.2] Jack: I've got old props.
[3467.2] Stephen: I've got.
[3468.64] Stephen: I mean, I don't understand authenticity, but would it really kill you just
[3471.92] Stephen: to put some BL Heli-S ESCs in there and just.
[3476.88] Curry: You could just run them as PWM.
[3479.2] Curry: How about run them as PWM and they'll suck.
[3485.68] Stephen: You crazy masochist.
[3488.64] Jack: Yeah, a remoter is 2300 kV.
[3492.48] Curry: I mean, you're talking about a quad that's going to be better than my old ZMR,
[3496.4] Curry: which is made of much worse stuff.
[3498.32] Curry: We did talk about getting together and doing like the oldest one you've got to fly.
[3502.96] Tony: We should do that when we next meet up in the spring.
[3506.32] Tony: Look at that.
[3507.6] Tony: Thirty five pounds.
[3510.08] Stephen: I wonder if this would fly better or worse than the hub sand that I converted to run on an F3.
[3519.04] Stephen: It's brushed.
[3521.52] Stephen: Yeah, it's brushed.
[3522.56] Stephen: It's tiny and it's running on an F3 and hasn't quite got enough power
[3526.16] Stephen: to actually like stabilize itself.
[3528.4] Stephen: So it's got a constant like he wobble.
[3530.96] Stephen: I get a P wobble normally on a Friday night.
[3538.64] Tony: But I'm standing over the bog like this.
[3542.0] Tony: Sorry, I'm trying to make nice.
[3543.52] Jack: Yeah, two drums.
[3548.24] Jack: A P wobble.
[3551.2] Jack: Do you know what?
[3551.76] Jack: If I had PWM ESCs, then I could run the multi-way board.
[3558.32] Stephen: Wouldn't it be more amusing to take something that's really high tech
[3562.0] Stephen: and slam it into the middle of this distorted ancient mess?
[3565.28] Tony: No, because we're just going to show people this is how we started.
[3568.88] Tony: This is what you've got to fly.
[3570.24] Stephen: Yeah, but I mean, at this point, people have said repeatedly that it sucked
[3575.92] Stephen: publicly, like respected authorities and quadcopters have said it's terrible.
[3580.96] Stephen: I tried that.
[3581.68] Curry: I put a beautiful F7 board in the midst of a DJI 450,
[3586.48] Curry: which was the first iteration of trying to get the open HD.
[3590.56] Curry: And oh, my God, it was freaking awful.
[3594.08] Curry: First, I had the the old DJI 30 amp ESCs, which are PWM.
[3602.56] Curry: And that just looked like it was basically like the poster chart for this is what happens
[3608.72] Curry: if your P gain is too high.
[3611.6] Curry: I mean, the first time I did it, it went so far that it just landed sideways like that.
[3618.16] Curry: And then I changed the ESCs out for slightly less bad ones that could run D shot 300.
[3625.52] Curry: And that should be good enough on a rig that big.
[3628.0] Jack: D shot 150, baby.
[3630.8] Curry: I flew on a sign and it would hover and it would be fine.
[3637.2] Curry: And I took it, you know, did some circles.
[3639.52] Curry: I said, this looks fine.
[3640.96] Curry: That is a different beast from being an FPV.
[3643.44] Curry: As soon as I FPV'd it, it was like it was so bad.
[3646.96] Curry: It was all over the shop.
[3648.72] Curry: I didn't land it once I had to use iNav return to home to land it for me because I could not
[3653.92] Curry: I could not fly it.
[3654.88] Curry: It was just so bad, which is which is how we got to like screw iNav.
[3659.44] Curry: I'm just going to put it on a beater flight cord and see what happens.
[3662.0] Stephen: I think this is what Jack wants, right?
[3664.4] Stephen: Jack wants that it's so bad.
[3666.16] Stephen: I can't land it experience because back in the day, it was just that sounds like what
[3670.88] Stephen: he's trying to wait for, right?
[3672.08] Tony: We all used to come in and just switch off.
[3675.04] Tony: We used to literally turn it off and it used to go.
[3678.32] Tony: Two foot above the ground.
[3682.88] Curry: What you want is a copy of a 450 frame.
[3686.72] Curry: Some old crappy 900 to 1000 kV motors that can run nine inch or 10 inch props.
[3693.68] Curry: And then as long as you're running ESCs on PWM, you will have the worst time of your life.
[3699.44] Curry: Yeah, if you like, I can find you a really old FPV camera, which will look completely black
[3707.28] Curry: if there's so much as a sunshine anywhere in the world.
[3711.04] Curry: And as you want to find the lens, if I 3.2 millimeter lens so you can see through a tiny tunnel.
[3719.36] Tony: Yeah, let's have that.
[3723.12] Jack: I know.
[3724.48] Jack: It is tempting, but I want to go mini quads sort of size, not 450.
[3730.32] Jack: 280.
[3730.88] Stephen: That's too modern.
[3732.48] Stephen: The standard 280 millimeter frame that started on mini quads.
[3736.88] Stephen: We all had four fifties.
[3738.24] Stephen: Six inch.
[3738.8] Curry: Everyone's flying six inch.
[3740.72] Curry: Actually, Jack, they love it.
[3742.24] Curry: If you want to really experience, why don't you get that gimbal that you had on that quad,
[3748.16] Curry: which never works and made that.
[3750.48] Curry: Try and fly that.
[3752.48] Stephen: The one axis gimbal.
[3753.76] Stephen: What, horizon stabilization?
[3755.28] Stephen: No, no, no.
[3755.92] Stephen: Confusion in the fourth, in the picture.
[3758.96] Stephen: It was lovely.
[3760.8] Jack: And then it would just, I still got that.
[3764.4] Jack: Like if anyone wants it, I will send it to them anywhere in the world.
[3771.44] Curry: Almost going.
[3772.64] Curry: And then you do one thing to it and then it just like freaks out.
[3776.08] Curry: And that's it.
[3776.8] Curry: That's like game over.
[3778.64] Jack: Storm 32 gimbal, piece of that never worked.
[3782.88] Jack: I've got it.
[3784.08] Jack: If you want it, email bright until I fly Gmail.
[3788.16] Jack: On that note, KK2 boards.
[3791.6] Jack: I want a KK2 mini.
[3793.28] Jack: I want to try and if someone's got a normal KK, I will float the.
[3799.68] Stephen: The most cost-effective flight controller I could buy was an H743, a Baytek H743.
[3807.12] Stephen: It would actually be cheaper than you trying to buy this stuff.
[3810.16] Stephen: That's the hilarious thing.
[3811.36] Curry: I've got a KK2 over there in my tricopter still.
[3815.2] Curry: And it flies like a piece of.
[3818.16] Tony: You're bringing that on the day.
[3820.56] Curry: I've still got a tricopter.
[3823.68] Curry: We can do it.
[3824.88] Curry: My tricopter is now over 10 years old.
[3828.32] Jack: Oh my God.
[3829.84] Jack: Right.
[3830.48] Jack: On that note, you've been listening to Let's Drone out or Let's Moan out.
[3834.8] Jack: You've been joined by KK2 Curry Kitten.
[3839.04] Jack: Goodbye.
[3840.32] Jack: Multi-Wii Steven.
[3842.0] Jack: Bye.
[3843.2] Jack: Nice 32, Tony.
[3845.04] Tony: For sure.
[3846.16] Jack: And I've been.
[3847.92] Jack: You can be Ardu Pilot Jack.
[3849.84] Jack: Yeah, Ardu Pilot.
[3851.28] Jack: No, Open Pilot.
[3852.72] Tony: No, Open Pilot Jack, which is absolutely perfect.
[3857.12] Jack: Open Pilot Jack.
[3858.64] Jack: Thank you.
[3860.24] Jack: Massive shout out to all the Patreons.
[3864.0] Jack: There you all are.
[3865.76] Jack: Thank you.
[3867.28] Jack: Hopefully we will have Bot Grinder next week.
[3871.28] Stephen: Awesome.
[3872.56] Stephen: I remember almost building an Open Pilot rig and then I looked at how big they are.
[3875.84] Stephen: And I was like, nah, I'm going to kill someone if I go there.
[3879.2] Jack: Like individually timing the ESEs.
[3883.04] Jack: Oh my word.
[3885.2] Curry: Open Pilot was so difficult to get hold of when it first came out.
[3888.96] Curry: You just couldn't do it.
[3891.44] Curry: Really?
[3891.92] Curry: Just didn't exist.
[3893.6] Curry: It's like they just sold out instantly.
[3895.36] Curry: But it was like it was so far ahead of everything else.
[3898.24] Curry: Because it's like.
[3898.72] Curry: It was the dream.
[3900.48] Curry: The dream.
[3903.36] Curry: Actually, I think I've got an original Open Pilot board.
[3907.12] Curry: Sitting up there.
[3907.68] Curry: I used to have them.
[3909.52] Stephen: Oh, there you are, man.
[3910.4] Stephen: If you want to aim at anything, that was the dream that sold everyone.
[3913.6] Stephen: Well, a bunch of you sold a bunch of nerds who knew what they were looking at on FPV.
[3918.88] Jack: I remember you couldn't flash it to the last.
[3924.56] Jack: Beat a fly or clean fly because the bootloader took up too much room.
[3930.64] Curry: Why would you when you had Open Pilot?
[3934.24] Jack: Thank you.
[3934.8] Jack: Good night.
[3936.4] UNKNOWN: Bye bye bye bye bye.
