[110.22] Curry: We've just learned that the reason Cole is in the car is because he had to go to the dentist.
[116.22] Curry: And the reason he's in the car is he had the same dentist since childhood and he's now moved three hours away from the dentist but has chosen a six hour round trip rather than simply get a new dentist.
[130.22] Curry: And this is because of course dentists don't exist in the major metropolitan city that you live in because that wouldn't that wouldn't right.
[139.22] Koel: Well I mean you know once you once you get used to your dentist it's hard to try to cheat on them you know you gotta gotta stay loyal.

[159.22] Tony: It was DJ I was flying so it wasn't really flying.

[172.22] Tony: I did it for my kayaking trip.

[182.22] Tony: It was a constant window weekend so I had to get up.
[187.22] Tony: Well I got woke up at like four thirty in the morning anyway because I stayed in a fort slept in a fort.
[196.22] Curry: I saw the thumbnail.

[199.22] Tony: I got a friend called to do the thumbnail for me.

[205.22] Tony: I just got up.
[206.22] Tony: The wind is just constant all night and in the morning I just thought sod it.
[209.22] Tony: I'm going to ask.
[210.22] Tony: I want some drone footage so I took it up and took some of the four and then the sun
[216.22] Tony: day it died down a bit and I went and found the U boat the submarine.
[222.22] Curry: Well you attempted to do like a follow me mode while you kayaked and just have it up above you.
[227.22] Tony: Too scared.
[230.22] Tony: Well we weren't on a river.
[232.22] Tony: Well it was a river medway but it was like the S3 so it was wide.
[237.22] Tony: It was like the sea basically.
[239.22] Tony: Just sketch as it comes down it'd be fun.
[241.22] Tony: Oh yeah.
[242.22] Tony: I'm glad it looks like the dog.
[244.22] Tony: At some point I was scared.
[247.22] Tony: So yeah I did fly but it was only DJI mini 2 which was brand new because I got one cent to me didn't I.
[253.22] Tony: I got a replacement.
[255.22] Curry: I did not know that.
[256.22] Curry: Did you get the posh controller and stuff with the screen on it.
[260.22] Tony: No that's the mini 3.
[262.22] Tony: Oh it's the mini 2 isn't it.
[264.22] Tony: Yeah I had the mini 2 and it fell out the sky and I sent it back to DJI and said look I've had this and it fell out the sky.
[272.22] Tony: It wasn't me.
[273.22] Tony: And they were like we're going to bill you this much and I was like well I'll send you the flight details and you can see it was a hardware failure.
[281.22] Tony: Which I did and then a week later they said yeah you're right we'll send you a whole new one boxed.
[288.22] Tony: So they did.
[289.22] Tony: So yeah that was first time flying there.
[292.22] Curry: And it didn't fall out the sky but I understand why you may have been a bit nervous.
[296.22] Tony: Yes that's the first DJI thing that's ever failed on me.
[302.22] Tony: Really.
[304.22] Koel: That's interesting to hear.
[307.22] Koel: I've had many DJI failures unfortunately across drones and camera stabilizers actually.
[315.22] Koel: Really.
[318.22] Koel: Actually my very first quad well quad I want to call it a quad now because I fly FPV drones but my first drone ever was a Phantom 3.
[328.22] Koel: I think it was called a Phantom 3 SE.
[330.22] Koel: It was basically the dumbed down version of the Phantom 3 Pro and I got that one.
[335.22] Koel: It only had transmission over Wi-Fi so the range wasn't that great.
[339.22] Koel: It was a great drone otherwise but I wanted a little bit more range out of it and this is back in about 2015 time.
[345.22] Koel: So I sold that one upgraded and got the Phantom 3 Pro.
[350.22] Koel: Well right off the bat right out of the box I was having gimbal horizon issues.
[355.22] Koel: So I sent it to DJI in California.
[359.22] Koel: Got it back.
[361.22] Koel: And the horizon seemed to be fixed but then my camera was out of focus and those cameras on those drones are a fixed focal whatever.
[369.22] Koel: So there's no autofocus or anything built in.
[371.22] Koel: It's just a single focus point.
[373.22] Koel: I sent it back to them.
[375.22] Koel: They fixed the camera and then the gimbal issue was there again.
[380.22] Koel: So it was it was all back and forth.
[384.22] Curry: Clive is saying he got his X-Class in the air for the first time since October.
[388.22] Curry: Tony you were away last week because you're not flying.
[392.22] Curry: Oh did you get because you you had to get the frame replaced because you set fire to yours happens and you needed to get a replacement flight controllers.
[401.22] Curry: Have you got that yet.
[403.22] Tony: That come through the post today.
[405.22] Tony: So we armed it and it armed.
[409.22] Tony: You know we've changed the frame change the arms everything but it all backs together.
[414.22] Tony: New PDB armed it and she span up and we didn't think nothing of it.
[419.22] Tony: So we carried on building her got it all ready and then like arm it give it some for all.
[426.22] Tony: Nothing.
[428.22] Tony: It armed and that's all it did.
[430.22] Tony: Nothing else lifted it up moved it around didn't do anything.
[434.22] Tony: And then then then yes he went pop and that was it.
[439.22] Tony: So fingers crossed Danny has got and saved my kids and everything.
[445.22] Tony: Which hopefully I'm going to put the same flight controller on.
[451.22] Tony: And which Clive actually sent to fossil and fossils just sent to me and hopefully we can get the old firmware on and the same kids and stuff.
[461.22] Tony: So you know I've got a week to get it ready and before wings and wheels is next weekend.
[468.22] Tony: That's not far away.
[470.22] Curry: Yeah you've got to get that fixed pretty quick then.
[473.22] Curry: Just just just to reiterate you're running it on like be to fly free one something or some old firmware like that that seems better on these big beasties.

[484.22] Tony: Hopefully it seems to me all these gold.
[487.22] Tony: So yes I've got my tickets but don't know if I'm flying yet because the X class is backing bits basically.

[501.22] Tony: But I'm going to wings and wheels whatever if I if I can't fly I can't fly.

[512.22] Curry: And and be the flight free for free zero we were just talking about it last week.
[517.22] Curry: And look it's finally out which is super exciting.

[528.22] Curry: Caroline Caroline saying she did took one of my quadcopters for free took a couple of days to get a first tune.
[535.22] Curry: I've read through this and there's an awful lot of changes and lots of sliders and things like that.
[541.22] Curry: I think I think I might just have to take a quad and install it and just see what happens.
[545.22] Curry: See if it's an utter disaster but I suppose that's quite exciting.
[549.22] Curry: The fact they've actually bought it out.
[552.22] Curry: Any chance that might just magically work with X classes.
[555.22] Curry: Now you've got these sliders to play with.
[557.22] Curry: You're not going to try it are you not going to whisk it.

[561.22] Tony: I don't know what I haven't even done.
[563.22] Tony: I haven't to be a flight on or kiss or anything for probably two years.
[571.22] Tony: I've not plugged the quad in to be a flight or kiss for about two years.

[584.22] Curry: Oh I'm still saying his attempts at RC 4 3 ended up with two smoked AOs.

[596.22] Koel: I'm not sure if this is for this release but I read something about the new firmware acting funky with the new gyros that everybody's using.
[608.22] Koel: Maybe that's because you know how the camera the names of them right now.
[613.22] Koel: But now it seems like they're you know the old standard is kind of out the window now and there there's new gyro on the block.
[620.22] Koel: And apparently apparently one of the releases kind of was talking strangely with the new gyros.
[628.22] Koel: So I don't know if that's resolved or not but I'm not.
[634.22] Curry: I didn't hear that but there was a lot of different stuff in and it's kind of like they have this thing about 4 3 has a new sliding approach and presets due to parameter trade changes.
[645.22] Curry: Do not paste CLI diff or dimes from previous versions.
[648.22] Curry: It's kind of like everything you know previously about beta flight ignore that and start from scratch which is a little bit scary.
[656.22] Curry: And there's just I mean that's the major things and then the what's changed is all this bit.
[662.22] Curry: Some here's your improvements. It's just the feature list is so huge.
[666.22] Curry: It just goes on and on and on.
[668.22] Curry: Fix is it's it's it's a lot.
[672.22] Curry: It's an awful lot.
[674.22] Curry: There's like so much in there.
[677.22] Curry: Yeah I'm slightly worried but I suppose you know might give it a try.

[682.22] Curry: It just yeah as I said before my my complaint generally around beta flight is it's over complexity about stuff.
[690.22] Curry: It just needs to be kept a bit more simple but yeah.
[693.22] Tony: But that would be what happens then wouldn't it.

[698.22] Koel: Just be like me and get it and be on kiss B1 in 2022.

[709.22] Koel: I mean like I mean from what I know at least I don't have a ton of experience with different like a ton of flight controllers but that's what I need it to you.
[720.22] Tony: I make it like you say they make it too complicated too much stuff on it to muck around with.
[726.22] Tony: You just need it to do one thing and that's fly.

[731.22] Curry: Well yeah I think essentially everybody especially people like us that you know we we fight to get our sort of precious few flights in during a week sometimes is like what you don't want to be doing is is punting about with software.
[746.22] Curry: You want to be out flying and having fun not like oh I need to fill up out with this or I need to read what this filter does and I don't understand it.
[755.22] Curry: It's like almost like like the good old days when people just used to say could you post your pits please because that was the only thing you would change just appears and now it's like I forget it you have to do a full dump.
[766.22] Curry: You know anything about it.
[768.22] Curry: I myself went out and flew a quad.
[773.22] Curry: That was exciting.
[776.22] Curry: I was trying to make the run cam fun work again.
[779.22] Curry: Oh yes watched your video of it just like raw.
[784.22] Curry: Yeah.
[785.22] Curry: So since that point I changed the mount to the TPU one which is better and I was trying to play with Jiroflow because everybody seems to be like oh Jiroflow is like it's the second coming of Christ or whatever.
[798.22] Curry: And it's like it's really weird you know when you do say you're doing a big turn and you turn too far and say oh I need to over crack so you sort of roll back or something.
[808.22] Curry: And then you carry on.
[810.22] Curry: It's really good at that.
[812.22] Curry: So instead of getting like this this movement it just translates that into this nice smooth movement.
[818.22] Curry: But unlike straights it was putting in bumps that weren't there.
[823.22] Curry: So it was it was introducing shake on it and then smoothing out the big turns.
[828.22] Curry: It seems to me unless you're absolutely buttery smooth to start with then it seems to.
[835.22] Curry: It's cold getting road raged.
[838.22] Curry: You dropped your five bucks.

[844.22] Curry: Everybody else would have just got out and taken the street out this way.

[867.22] Curry: I see Caroline saying that she bought a second peanut camera because she started getting fed up with trying to mess with gyro flow.

[876.22] Curry: I'm going to give it one more shot and I'm going to try moving the thumb to a smaller quad something like a three inch two and a half inch because I'm wondering if it's like even the speed of it because it's quite a five fast five inch or perhaps there's like a
[891.22] Curry: different oscillation frequency of the five inch props that it's not nice.
[895.22] Curry: I mean it's it's not like smaller quads don't vibrate but they vibrate in a slightly different way and perhaps that can be absorbed.
[902.22] Curry: Probably the most interesting thing about the flight is I did like three flights they were quite long because they're like eight minutes a piece is really really good quad.
[912.22] Curry: It's good at spending a long time in the air.
[915.22] Curry: On my last flight there was I noticed a woman walking a dog up the side of the field.
[921.22] Curry: I was like I'll keep away from there because there's there's a person and it was like she had to walk like two whole fields down to sort of get out of there and I packed up all my stuff and that and then I had to walk through the cows.
[935.22] Curry: If you saw the Instagram video basically I'm followed about by all these cows.
[939.22] Curry: They can be slightly scary cows generally sort of follow you and then occasionally they got excited.
[945.22] Curry: I start hearing like running and I have to turn around and stop now and then they just they all sort of stop and just look at you like it wasn't me.
[954.22] Curry: But I noticed from right down like two fields away that this there was a woman stood right at the other end of the gate with her dog and I didn't really notice I played it back in the DVR to know it was her.
[968.22] Curry: And I was like oh why she stopped there and it took me like a good 10 15 minutes to walk all the way through the fields to get to where she was standing and just for a sort of split second I was like oh maybe she's a fan.
[987.22] Curry: Just for a split second and I thought.
[990.22] Curry: Fifty old women aren't my current demographic.
[995.22] Curry: YouTube currently scores me as a zero percentage for women.
[999.22] Koel: She was the first person to buy the sim.
[1002.22] Curry: Yeah sure enough I got there and I've got my backpack on it's got quads on I'm holding a big wing walking up to climb over this fence and she says excuse me were you flying a drone.
[1015.22] Curry: And it would have been funny just to like answer no but remembering that conversation about that really annoying bloke from last week I decided to be really nice.
[1025.22] Curry: Oh yeah I was and she said she said something really specific.
[1030.22] Curry: She said who on the farm has given you permission to fly in that field and it just so happens that this field is owned by my sister in law and her husband.
[1041.22] Curry: So I was quite confident I had permission. So I said to her oh Nikki and Graham and then she looked at me absolutely bemused like as if to say who is that and I was like they're the people that are in the field there in that.
[1056.22] Curry: And and she goes oh I said is that okay and she said yes I was just wondering but I don't think she believed because even even that I walked into the farm next to the tractor to put the stuff in my car I saw her peeking through defense to say he that's not his car.
[1078.22] Curry: He's he's bluffing. He's got into the farm.
[1082.22] Curry: That was that was funny. I just I just I don't know. I don't know where she was coming from really because I'm a private eye.
[1090.22] Curry: Yeah she she just wants to inspect to see if people have permission because it's a weird one though isn't it because even if I didn't have permission in that field and I'm sure my my brother in law who does own a shotgun license would have a point of view.
[1106.22] Curry: But there is a public right of way that runs through another field and it's you know it's it's quite hard to sort of police that and say you're not allowed to fly here and certainly random passers by who decide they want to investigate who's giving permission to who.
[1124.22] Curry: And people have come up to me before and say do you have permission to fly here and I was like no I don't think I need explicit permission also who do I ask.
[1134.22] Curry: And I don't know what they want to hear from me. It's like oh no I'll leave and but like no I don't but I don't seem to need it seems to slightly confused them and because sometimes they say oh well there's a lot of ground nesting birds around here.
[1150.22] Curry: This is on my previous site because I was like well sucks for them when the buildings get put up in a couple of months doesn't it. It's like what what do you want me to do about it.
[1159.22] Curry: I'm not I'm not going around all the grass kicking birds.
[1162.22] Tony: Some people just like a moan up don't they. You want to know what you're doing.
[1168.22] Koel: Well yeah that's that's one of the problems I've run into is that sometimes people are a little nosy and and they try to you know assert some level of like you know what's the word dominance.
[1182.22] Koel: I guess dominance or or that oh you know I'm I'm governing this area. What are you doing in this neighborhood or whatever. It's like normally Karen's.

[1196.22] Tony: I think she might fall under that.
[1199.22] Curry: But yeah it's like as Caroline sort of pointed out there it's it's.
[1204.22] Curry: Nobody gave her explicit permission to walk her dog field but she felt like she could.

[1211.22] Curry: But I have noticed a change when I when I first started flying 10 whole years ago now and I had my tricopter which didn't look like a freakish thing.
[1221.22] Curry: Then people were like really interested like wow what's this. This looks amazing and I show them it and they're like this is keep going. Do what you do.
[1229.22] Curry: They were just about to see it and now it's like is that a drone and you know you like to be polite and you don't like to sort of argue and say well I would have called it a multi copter or are you talking about the wing here because I didn't actually fly that one it was working.
[1243.22] Tony: But that's that's just that's just the media for you. You got a drone and you walk off with less thrown out written on your jumper.
[1251.22] Curry: I should I should have had my fly like a pussy t-shirt on.

[1289.22] Tony: This is the problem I have with testing the X class because we haven't I didn't really join my field my flying field because they literally put a shepherd's hut in the middle of it and was like oh on a Saturday there's a family staying there so don't fly near it don't do this.
[1309.22] Tony: I was like I'm not joining again it's too much don't be bothered so I didn't bother joining but now I've got an X class to try to I'm going to know what's going to happen it's going to be built on then it's going to be tested on on on the day we have to fly them on my track which would be fun.
[1329.22] Curry: I still think that Tony's viral video would be trying to hover your X class and you're just behind you there and watching everything like fall off the walls and explode.
[1339.22] Tony: I'm not doing that even if it did go viral it's not happening.

[1434.88] Curry: It's always a bad idea to have 600 chrome tabs open when you're trying to share something.
[1439.88] Curry: But we had this interesting picture that Frank sent us a little bit ago.
[1447.88] Curry: This is the British Army watchkeeper UAV crashed after taking off from an RF base and handily landed in the water and we got some some details about this didn't we it seems like they they pretty much lost signal.
[1463.88] Curry: And there's this big red button that says shut down the aircraft instead of return to home.
[1470.88] Tony: Seven of them have gone into the.
[1473.88] Curry: This is like what they pay one point two billion for twenty four of them and they've already lost seven of them.
[1479.88] Tony: I bet a slot could do a better job even with my.
[1482.88] Curry: 500 million I said I could do it for 500 million at least as good as this.
[1488.88] Curry: It would be hard to cock it up anymore wouldn't it.
[1491.88] Tony: Is it just is it people not knowing what they're doing or what.
[1495.88] Curry: It's hard to say because it's always a slightly crowded in secrecy isn't it especially with drone flying and like forces stuff it's either the hardware is crap.
[1507.88] Curry: Although you'd expect a certain amount of autonomy over something that weighs this much and you know can clearly kill crowds of people if it lands in them or it's poor training are the people that are flying them.
[1520.88] Curry: Are they like proper pilots or they just like here is a control sort yourself out.
[1525.88] Curry: So I just want to do it was just like me hold it above your head lad come on get the signal back this I don't know what's going on.
[1532.88] Curry: I can't believe there's a button that says shut plane down in midair instead of a button that says make plane circle around or make plane come back and land because these these are supposed to be like super advanced aircraft.
[1546.88] Curry: And yeah they just crashed into the sea.
[1550.88] Tony: It's embarrassing isn't it is it or is it is it because it says British Army watchkeeping you over is it a British made thing or.
[1560.88] Curry: That I don't know I don't know if normally with these things there's whenever there's like you know the forces want some sort of UAV or something there's all these companies that put in bids.
[1573.35] Curry: And stuff and at some point you know they end up like spending like six grand on like.
[1581.35] Curry: A little foam aircraft I think we've seen those sort of pictures and it's all that's quite expensive and I don't know if it's the fact that it's literally buy from the cheapest bidder.
[1591.35] Curry: And they said yeah I do all that yeah yeah I can just imagine the sales people must be amazing is like does it do this absolutely how much is it 1.2 billion.
[1600.35] Curry: For twenty four three and you know if one out of three crashes that's not bad going I don't know I don't I don't know if there's this is developed like British they all look the same don't know these.
[1617.35] Curry: These military UAVs they've all got that shape to them so I don't know if there's this one company like I think Boeing do do some or something.

[1659.35] Curry: I also had another story I've I've been collecting stories today because I knew we were we were light on people and stuff and I saw something on the good old BBC News website.
[1674.35] Curry: How many times have we seen a story about Amazon will begin drone deliveries this year.
[1681.35] Curry: But what I thought was interested about this is I haven't actually seen this design but when I checked out and it's called the the mark twenty seven dash two so they've at least had twenty six of them I guess it has it sort of got demoed in 2019.
[1701.35] Curry: And at first when I looked at it I wasn't sure if it was it was does I mean like you know stop decapitating children and that's why that things around it.
[1712.35] Curry: But it seems like they're trying to use some of it as a kind of wing.
[1716.35] Curry: So when they take off they put it in forward flight and that wing sort of helps it a bit.
[1723.35] Tony: Does it say how much of the payload what it can carry.
[1727.35] Tony: That's a good point. It's quite small.
[1731.35] Curry: It's really hard to say because they don't really show it against a sort of scale.
[1736.35] Curry: I like the fact it's got this thing up it saying not simulated it's like this is real life.
[1742.35] Curry: But it kind of flummies it doesn't like it doesn't transfer into like a plane it's obviously just like a hex doing forward flight.
[1750.35] Curry: But because it's got these sort of wing areas I guess it's more efficient and they get a bit more range out of it.
[1756.35] Curry: It actually looks like he's flying all right.
[1759.35] Curry: It looks like it flies okay but this is like a three years old and I don't know why what's happened suddenly to actually get drone deliveries going.
[1768.35] Curry: I think when I last checked like the payload was like one to two kilograms or something like that.
[1774.35] Curry: Not huge and I'm still slightly confused about how it gets dropped off and property you'll need.
[1782.35] Curry: I always thought the Amazon drone delivery a bit like Google and everybody else was a bit of a bit of a publicity stunt saying that what we're doing aren't we an amazing tech company.
[1792.35] Curry: We can fly stuff around and governance is this is this the delivery or is it just landing.
[1798.35] Curry: It's just landing.
[1800.35] Curry: And this when you attack it with bats and get your free thing and you get parts for your calls.

[1809.79] Curry: They say it's going to it's going to go live this year and they've got the actual what is it FFA in the US.

[1854.79] Curry: And that's why I want to know what what is the criteria for your delivery because even you need like you must have one half acre of land.
[1862.79] Curry: You have to draw this special target on it so we can make it recognize that and drop down because otherwise it is not to do very well is it because you can't you can't have it going over urban air.
[1876.79] Curry: I mean could you imagine that in London.
[1879.79] Curry: How how long before it kills its first person.

[1884.79] Curry: Coming down or smashes into things or anything.

[1888.79] Koel: I mean in theory it's a great idea but in practice might not be the thing.

[1898.79] Curry: I still people get very excited by the idea of a drone delivery but it's very inefficient isn't it.
[1903.79] Curry: We know the range of these things compared to like let's say an automated vehicle of some sort.
[1910.79] Curry: Yeah that could do it.
[1912.79] Curry: And we don't we don't trust cars to self drive.
[1914.79] Curry: And I I don't think I trust massive hexacopters to self fly around either.
[1922.79] Curry: I don't mind them flying around.
[1925.79] Curry: I just don't want them trying to land and delivering things.
[1928.79] Tony: I think it's a good idea to do something like delivering blood and things like that from place from one hospital to another.
[1934.79] Tony: Yeah.
[1935.79] Tony: Well they can fly and they have a pre-programmed route.
[1938.79] Tony: Yeah.
[1940.79] Curry: One like special area on top of a hospital where helicopters often go and you're flying some emergency stuff to another one and you're plonking down.
[1949.79] Curry: The other place it comes in handy is I think they've dropped off a like a defibrillator in one pot place and they can drop off like life saving equipment for people out at sea is like here have a have a floaty thing.
[1964.79] Curry: And you know I think they'd prefer someone to swim out and rescue them but you know can't be all bad.
[1970.79] Curry: And you know there's some some great stuff they do in automatic flight like one of the things they do in Australia is they they fly along and they've got AI that automatically picks out like if there's sharks in the area and they can feed back and warn people.
[1985.79] Curry: But this is about flying over areas where in that case there's not many people there in the hospital case it's going from a high building to a high building and doesn't have to like go down and interact among the people.
[2000.79] Curry: I mean there's always a chance it could fall out of the sky of course but it's it seems less than having to take off and land in a big urban area.
[2009.79] Koel: Yeah we're I think yeah for rural applications it would be probably you know make more sense.

[2023.79] Koel: Yeah just you know swigging a few back for the road.
[2027.79] Curry: I hope in Canada you buy water in jars apparently. It is a quirky little place.
[2033.79] Koel: Yes yes it is. Now this is just you know when you have when you buy salsa or tomato sauce and it comes in one of these well you get a resealable jar if you clean it out good enough.

[2080.79] Curry: The weather has been so hot. I was I was swearing in the field because one of the problems is I I thought I was launching the wing and I had problems with it.

[2099.79] Curry: It's just me in the sun and I can burn under a light bulb.

[2105.79] Curry: And be very careful but yeah and today I was in and out trying to trying to sort out the GPS problems with it and just literally going outside turning a wing on trying to trying to look at your laptop screen in the burning sun.
[2122.79] Curry: It's like I can't I can't see this can't get the angle. It's just a nightmare.
[2127.79] Curry: We we do like to complain every every single way about the weather. It's too cold. It's too hot.
[2132.79] Curry: Where's the Goldilocks zone for us. We want it just right please.

[2144.79] Tony: So yeah I've got to get everything ready for next weekend. So I think I'm going from Friday.

[2162.79] Tony: So I've got to get me a roof tent on the van. I've got to get the cooler out. I've got to buy any solar panel ready to put down to charge my batteries in the back so I can have a fan or a heater and charge batteries and keep my icebox going with food in it.
[2183.79] Tony: Get some drones out that I'm flying for ages check gear. It's going to be it's going to be a lot to do this week coming ready for that weekend but even if the X-Class doesn't get to fly it'd be good to see everyone again.
[2200.79] Curry: And what you could do is buy like a green all in one suit that covers you run around holding the X-Class and then take yourself out in post.

[3064.17] Koel: and send the quad out, but there's a few places nearby,
[3068.17] Koel: like some parking garages on weekends that are usually not busy
[3073.17] Koel: or where else?
[3075.17] Koel: There's a couple construction sites I found recently,
[3077.17] Koel: but the problem is that I typically work Fridays and Saturdays.
[3081.17] Koel: So my weekends are kind of pooped, so Sundays are usually my flying day,
[3086.17] Koel: so if the weather cooperates for me this Sunday, I'll probably go out.
[3091.17] Koel: And I think I'm just going to try to find just a field
[3094.17] Koel: because I've been flying like Bandos and construction sites,
[3099.17] Koel: and I don't know, I kind of want to get back to just flying in a field
[3104.17] Koel: and just kind of cruise around and see how that goes.
[3107.17] Koel: But Sunday, fingers crossed for me.
[3110.17] Tony: My fingers crossed for Sunday.
[3112.17] Tony: I do like the fact that you're the polar opposite of us.
[3116.17] Curry: We're all flying in fields saying like,
[3118.17] Curry: oh, I wish we had Bandos and construction sites we could fly,
[3121.17] Curry: and Kel's like, well, I'm a bit bored of Bandos and construction sites.
[3125.17] Curry: What I want is a big grassy field with no trees in it, just fly up and down.
[3130.17] Koel: Well, it's not that I'm necessarily bored of them,
[3132.17] Koel: it's just that I don't exactly feel like fixing quads right now
[3138.17] Koel: or troubleshooting and fixing them.
[3141.17] Koel: The last couple of months, I blew a motor, I blew an ESC,
[3148.17] Koel: I smashed a bunch of my HD cams, just kind of the usual stuff.
[3157.17] Koel: But yeah, there's something nice about having some open space
[3162.17] Koel: where you can actually full throttle
[3164.17] Koel: and can actually be able to kind of throw the quad around a bit
[3168.17] Koel: instead of being like, okay, I got to be careful
[3170.17] Koel: and keep every stick movement super precise
[3174.17] Koel: and one false move and everything's broken.
[3178.17] Tony: It's a bit more relaxing.
[3180.17] Koel: It is.
[3181.17] Curry: You'd be surprised what can catch you out in a field
[3183.17] Curry: because have you ever been hypnotized by the quad shadow?
[3186.17] Curry: I feel this is like a syndrome.
[3188.17] Curry: It's like, I see the shadow and you're just watching the shadow
[3190.17] Curry: and you go, this is so beautiful.
[3193.17] Curry: And then you hit the ground.
[3194.17] Curry: It's like, the shadow got me.
[3196.17] Curry: It's like the shadow siren, I'm going to call it.
[3199.17] Koel: You cruise low enough and then all of a sudden,
[3204.17] Koel: you're looking at your shadow and then, of course,
[3207.17] Koel: you don't see the little mound in the grass
[3209.17] Koel: that just happens to show up out of nowhere.
[3211.17] Koel: And you're like, boom, boom, all right, disarm immediately.
[3215.17] Koel: Yeah.
[3217.17] Tony: Yeah, well, I think we've all done that.
[3220.17] Curry: That's cool.
[3221.17] Curry: My plan for tomorrow is to attempt to fix the wing
[3225.17] Curry: or find out why it's losing the GPS.
[3227.17] Curry: I found an interesting problem today.
[3229.17] Curry: I was trying to sort it out and we've gone through
[3233.17] Curry: like lots and lots of testing out on this board
[3236.17] Curry: and basically plugging it in and you see like
[3240.17] Curry: the flight controller gets 15 satellites,
[3242.17] Curry: you plug in the pie end of things,
[3244.17] Curry: it drops down, down, down and hit zero.
[3247.17] Curry: It's like, well, I can't fly that.
[3249.17] Curry: And I was like, oh, I need to put this on a pie zero
[3252.17] Curry: and test that to see if it's the board problem,
[3254.17] Curry: which has got the pie compute module or something else.
[3256.17] Curry: And I found that the image file for the latest version
[3261.17] Curry: of OpenHD had disappeared off GitHub,
[3264.17] Curry: which stopped me slightly in my tracks
[3267.17] Curry: because I couldn't download it.
[3269.17] Curry: And I found out, I did not know this,
[3271.17] Curry: but GitHub can apparently delete binaries
[3273.17] Curry: that are more than two years old if they feel like it.
[3277.17] Curry: And OpenHD's binary was removed, apparently, for this reason.
[3282.17] Curry: So I had to get it off somebody else,
[3284.17] Curry: which I've just gotten out to test again.
[3286.17] Curry: But that was a weird and interesting thing.
[3289.17] Curry: What's really sad about the last release of OpenHD
[3293.17] Curry: is it's like 208 and it was in somewhere like 2020
[3298.17] Curry: and it says, this has been the last release of 2.0,
[3302.17] Curry: 2.1 will be out in a few weeks.
[3304.17] Curry: It's like, that was two years ago.
[3306.17] Curry: Hurry up, get on with it.
[3308.17] Curry: It's all gone a bit slow.
[3310.17] Koel: It's always two weeks, two weeks.
[3312.17] Curry: Do you think they're going to carry on doing that OpenHD
[3315.17] Tony: or give up because there's better stuff?
[3317.17] Curry: They seem to still be active in it.
[3318.17] Curry: I mean, there's a lot more happening now
[3321.17] Curry: in terms of HD systems.
[3324.17] Curry: But I think, you know, you could have something
[3328.17] Curry: that was DJI-standard and was free
[3330.17] Curry: and there'd still be some guy that's like,
[3332.17] Curry: no, I'm going to somehow install OpenHD on a calculator
[3336.17] Curry: and try and do it that way because people are like that, aren't they?
[3339.17] Curry: They just like to experiment and try stuff out.
[3342.17] Curry: So I think it'll always keep going.
[3344.17] Curry: I don't know if it's lost a bit of its inertia.
[3349.17] Curry: It had a sort of a couple of big developers
[3352.17] Curry: that were sort of leading, dropped out
[3354.17] Curry: and were placed by other people,
[3355.17] Curry: but it seems to have not had much happen there for a while.
[3360.17] Curry: But I'm committed to getting this wing flying.
[3364.17] Curry: It's like it flew on analog.
[3366.17] Curry: I now have worked perfectly.
[3368.17] Curry: I just want to stick an OpenHD camera on it
[3370.17] Curry: and have it work, please.
[3372.17] Curry: And I think I'm hoping I'm going to find out
[3376.17] Curry: what the problem is tomorrow
[3378.17] Curry: because I think basically we've been going through
[3382.17] Curry: and troubleshooting to the extent that it's like,
[3384.17] Curry: unplug everything, put this on a separate power source,
[3387.17] Curry: move that over there, do this, do this, do this.
[3390.17] Curry: And the last part of this to work out
[3393.17] Curry: where the interference is coming from
[3395.17] Curry: is like removing the actual entire board from it
[3399.17] Curry: and saying, I've got this Raspberry Pi Zero.
[3401.17] Curry: I'm going to plug this in completely independently
[3403.17] Curry: of everything and just hold it close to it
[3406.17] Curry: and see if it makes a difference
[3408.17] Curry: because the initial tests I did with it,
[3410.17] Curry: which had the wrong version of OpenHD so it didn't connect,
[3413.17] Curry: it worked.
[3414.17] Curry: So I just want to try and finish that off and actually fly it
[3417.17] Curry: because as soon as I do that,
[3418.17] Curry: then I'm going to go back to that quad I've got
[3421.17] Curry: to install the bits and pieces I want to do on that
[3424.17] Curry: and do something with it.
