[264.51] Jack: So when you did crash and it was in half I was like do you want some tape?
[270.19] Jack: And then um, it still hurts to laugh so then I had to like

[286.43] Stephen: Fairly successful some of us flew a lot of packs some flew less everyone flew
[291.23] Stephen: No one smashed anything into too many pieces. There are a couple of little things, but yeah, I mean a few people definitely got stuck

[302.11] Stephen: Yeah, we yeah, I definitely we never really bruised around with a 10 meter clearance between us and everything

[335.47] Stephen: It wasn't like everyone stabbed at the flight line and in 315 there's going to be a display type of stuff

[341.87] Stephen: Seeing if people can do tricks and if you can't be bothered to do the tricks
[344.75] Stephen: You just queue up and fly as many batteries as you want around this huge and it has to be said huge

[354.99] Stephen: Yeah around the the lifts for a cold power station and it looks small in that
[360.91] Stephen: Uncrashed level and in the pictures, but in real life it is

[373.79] Stephen: Yeah, if you had a good quality analog setup it was okay, I tried a few micros and uh
[379.71] Stephen: Channel two wasn't great for analog when channel two when channel one was running dji
[385.07] Stephen: I got kind of blasted
[386.51] Stephen: It was the point where I punched out waited for it to chill and then kind of just brought it back in
[392.35] Stephen: I was on 200 milliwatt
[394.75] Stephen: Everyone else was on 400 on analog which was better
[398.35] Stephen: And if you were flying on analog you probably didn't want to be right next to a channel
[402.99] Stephen: That was currently flying dji you wanted to get a distance
[406.59] Jack: Yeah, you know, I I got on my second flight. It was just horrendous
[412.43] Jack: I got the I you know, I got the bars across it
[416.43] Jack: You know and that's more the dji goggles that
[420.67] Jack: I think that's that yeah

[426.59] Jack: Quad would do a flyby you would get like the rolling
[431.47] Jack: Like shuttery interference
[434.19] Jack: But how did you find it because that was your first event?
[438.11] Koel: Yeah, I was actually surprised. I didn't have any um
[441.31] Koel: Any breakup issues or signal issues at all?
[443.87] Koel: I I did get those like four digital lines in the goggles when I was near dji pilots, but
[449.95] UNKNOWN: Nothing I couldn't fly with so yeah, I think you going to like the full power that they sent
[457.31] Jack: Made it so much better. Yeah, but like that second pack
[461.87] Jack: I had worse video than when I was sat at the back of the
[468.27] Jack: of the fence
[470.11] Jack: In you know with a with in the marquee tent, so I barred with me when you were flying
[476.75] Jack: I had better signal watching you from nowhere near a flight line than I did on my on
[484.19] Jack: with um
[485.39] Frank: Channel three that's that's the kind of fairly typical thing of events layout is that the further back that you can get away from
[492.75] Frank: The flying area. Yeah, well, it's just even with analog even like just back in pure analog days
[497.95] Frank: If you can move all the pilots further back
[501.07] Frank: It has a much bigger effect on
[503.39] Frank: The channels that you're not tuned into then it has on the channel
[507.63] Frank: It's green talking about like football pitch. Don't sit on the you know
[511.39] Frank: Everyone has it set up where they're sitting on the side where you actually want it lengthwise. So you're shooting the
[517.31] Frank: You go that way. Yeah, and then you can get more more
[521.15] Frank: You know that was
[522.75] Frank: It did make a big impression on the whole event
[525.39] Frank: Basically every rule
[529.63] Frank: Past seven years organizing volunteering and you know helping out with various fpv events
[536.43] Frank: Every rule was broken there and how to organize it, but they pulled it off and it worked
[541.39] Frank: um, like
[542.43] Stephen: None of the people were stuck but there were people who were trying to fly through
[546.59] Stephen: Six inch wide gaps 200 foot off the ground, but like they deserved it
[551.63] Stephen: Yeah
[552.83] Frank: Yeah, like 99 percent of people were having an absolutely great time which for an fpv event is actually pretty good
[561.15] Frank: And you know I it really drove home to me that the freestyle community
[567.15] Frank: Is like has diverged from the racing community and it's like, you know
[571.71] Frank: In fact when we all like got to know each other and really started lbo
[576.43] Frank: like we all go into events where you know, you could
[580.59] Frank: Uh, you know there were people to be turning up with two pods
[584.11] Frank: They'd be the racer and their freestyle board and they'd start off with a racer on the racetrack and then crash it and then they'd
[589.39] Frank: Get their freestyle out and run that round the racetrack
[592.51] Frank: Or if it was like a bando you'd start with your freestyle and your racer would be your back
[597.39] Frank: And just kind of see how different everything is now. It's just they're completely different hollies
[605.95] Frank: Like being analog as well and
[608.35] Frank: Not having a dji and like it's the first event i've been to where i haven't been able to just tune into everyone
[615.15] Frank: And like that was that
[617.15] Koel: That was really the death of analog like properly. Oh, yeah. I feel like the digital was
[626.27] Frank: That was the main thing there. Yeah. Yeah, the dji was completely dominant digital
[633.55] Frank: Absolutely
[634.83] Frank: and it's but like for me
[637.15] Frank: My fpv was a hobby
[639.39] Frank: Well, I could pay 50 quid for a pair of cheap box goggles and I could go to any event and I could tune in
[644.91] Frank: And I could watch it. Yeah, but yeah, but back then
[646.83] Frank: Dji, it's been taking pictures
[649.87] Frank: Yeah, that was the only
[652.03] Stephen: Why we could do it. They did force but for dji users
[655.15] Stephen: They set up one to use 25 megabit, which is a single channel and you can run an audience mode on that
[660.35] Stephen: So if you did have dji goggles
[662.51] Stephen: You could bounce around and you you could even see like which channels are active, which is quite nice
[667.55] Stephen: I've never really used audience mode because i've never been
[670.75] Stephen: Flying with enough people who have digital but it was worth doing but at that event
[675.55] Stephen: It was really nice to be able to go into audience mode and like randy rc was flying to plane around
[680.59] Stephen: Go to audience mode and watch him fly yet
[683.31] Stephen: And even like record snippets of him flying it and it worked surprisingly well, which was
[688.35] Stephen: nice
[689.63] Stephen: also, something we should mention that we had failsafe there and a couple other guys who
[695.31] Stephen: Announced sponsored by walksnail and we're showing some walksnail kit and failsafe went so far as to run
[701.71] Stephen: A pretty big monitor off of a lipo and hook that up to the hdni out of the goggles
[707.63] Stephen: So that bystanders could walk up and see what he was flying and and I had it go there as well
[712.35] Stephen: We also had a little fly afterwards and I looked at ndrc's walksnail setup as well and I had to say
[718.67] Stephen: I'm impressed. Yeah, i'm not sure it's great. It's value right now. It's kind of expensive and it's got a few problems
[725.79] Stephen: But it's really interesting
[729.31] MULTIPLE: All i've seen of it is
[732.35] MULTIPLE: Bot grinder's videos
[734.67] MULTIPLE: And things flew like 50 meters away. It was like
[739.15] MULTIPLE: But it could be it
[741.63] Stephen: It did fire the hd01 and forget to screw the antenna on it. Yeah, I know he does forget things
[748.59] Stephen: Well, everything that I saw from the event, the walknail looked amazing
[753.07] Stephen: It didn't have one problem
[754.27] Stephen: I noticed they were playing with firmware revisions right after the event and they were running the people who are demo doing on beta firmware
[760.43] Stephen: That isn't available to the general public. So that's something that's taken into account. It's a moving target
[765.15] Stephen: Yeah, and when i'm dropped behind this huge brick and concrete, uh, coal
[770.35] Stephen: Whatever station powerhead or whatever they call it colliery. Are they they called it for something?
[776.43] Stephen: Clipstone collier clipstone power house. I think power house is the event venue. They're building in it now

[782.19] Stephen: anyway
[782.83] Stephen: I dropped behind this
[784.19] Stephen: Add a line of sight to the quad and then drop behind a bunch of brick and steel
[789.71] Stephen: And instead of the image degrading it briefly froze and made me
[794.43] Stephen: Make a little bit of proof
[796.99] Stephen: For about like a tenth or a fifth of a second
[800.03] Stephen: The image was completely static in the goggles didn't move at all and I was like, oh here we go
[804.83] Stephen: I'm gonna have to do the walk of shame and get someone to climb over these fence with a hard hat
[809.31] Stephen: But then it just snapped in again. And so instead of
[812.99] Frank: That's better over
[814.11] Stephen: Digi already. Well, no
[816.43] Stephen: Digi like one
[818.19] Stephen: It's gone. It's gone. No, no, no, but it wasn't it was going from like four bars of signal to three bars of signal
[824.11] Stephen: Instead of degrading it just stopped
[826.59] Stephen: And then it took like a noticeable amount of time to change in quality down from top quality to second best quality
[834.91] Stephen: It didn't degrade smoothly. It wasn't it was it wasn't completely outage. I was never running out of length budget
[840.27] Stephen: I was never at the point where I was losing video
[842.75] Stephen: But what was happening instead of degrading it was freezing thinking about it and then going to like a lower quality
[851.07] Stephen: And that's not what you want really
[854.03] Stephen: But the quality when it was working was superb

[876.35] Stephen: It's going to be expensive. There's no way around it

[894.99] Frank: 80 quid maybe and they were pretty reasonable
[898.67] Frank: But I just mean like that's like the the whole barriers of entry like I got into ftv for like 200 quids

[909.39] Frank: No, not on the level where it was a quads that I could take to any event and have a go
[913.95] Frank: You know, I took it around tracks. I took it around band-aids
[916.83] Frank: Flew up the other people and was on par and had the same experience
[919.95] Stephen: It speaks to the general technological advancement and specialization that you talked about where
[924.75] Stephen: Freestyle and racing has diverged a lot. Absolutely
[928.35] Frank: it's like
[929.71] Frank: For me for my dreams of like mini air show and having like the one event that everyone would go to whether it was a scale fpv
[935.95] Frank: Or the woops or the x-class or the wings or the freestylers of the races and having everyone in one field and being able to sort of go
[942.83] Frank: Oh, this is actually quite cool. I might want to have a go at something like this
[946.35] Frank: I'm being able to
[947.87] Frank: Fairly reasonably switch between different lanes of fpv
[952.59] Frank: this this is kind of like
[954.75] Frank: Hidden really hard that is it's like it's the end of that because
[958.43] Frank: The the fundamental technology is no longer
[961.47] Frank: Power and dsc over 5.8 gigahertz. It's
[965.47] Frank: It's something closed

[968.51] Stephen: There are a lot of people there like the majority of people flying kiss as well. I think races have just stopped flying
[975.23] Stephen: Yes, there's a few people flying in your flight. Not so many beta flight. Uh beta flight. I was there wearing my t-shirt

[983.31] Stephen: Standing up for beta flight, but I think you know kiss probably had the majority of the quads there
[988.27] Jack: I did not in my 10. They were all beat fly
[992.11] Stephen: Yeah, I didn't see anybody else in the main flight walk style. Everyone was flying kiss. I thought

[1458.69] Jack: Uh, is it the flora of the area and try and have props that don't match
[1465.81] Jack: Red was not good color the little red flowers that littered the the green landscape
[1471.89] Frank: They were the perfect size of those props as well the same color the same size same shape as those props
