Thank you to call us campus art folk now Sam Dharma on with the show [51.89] Jack: Hello and I'm not here [54.39] Jack: Yeah [55.91] Jack: Curry is here, but Kerry's got a problem [59.47] Jack: Where everything he says he reboot say hello. Welcome to let trying out curry [65.11] Curry: I'm trying I'm trying I'm trying desperately so I can reboot and I've got everything's blocking from doing it [71.91] Stephen: Yes [77.19] Stephen: It's very funny hold down the power button and just give it the birdie give it the one finger salute [83.75] Jack: Yeah [85.75] Stephen: Why I no longer have a Mac because it turns out if you do that too many times you just need to reinstall it [91.19] Stephen: Just gives up. Yeah [94.39] Jack: So he was saying he's his Mac's been on [100.31] Jack: 58 or is it 56 days uptime? [104.39] Jack: so yeah, if you [106.47] Jack: it's certain and it tricks the event into a sort of [111.99] Jack: Restart thinking it was [114.15] Stephen: Gas let me into some things gone wrong. Well, I quit out the stream. I didn't restart but I bounced the sound server [122.39] Jack: That's false audio [124.07] Jack: Anyway today you're joined by everyone's favorite curry kitten who's rebooting everyone [131.03] Jack: Lo that's that's Curry's part. I'll see. Yeah [135.75] Jack: Stephen [137.11] Jack: Nice to see you all bright until I fly and welcome to the show. Thanks for tuning in [141.91] Jack: uh [143.11] Jack: Yeah, we were we were talking eses. I don't know what rating i've got 1700 kv [150.71] Jack: so I don't know 35 [153.59] Jack: up [154.55] Jack: upwards [155.67] Jack: Really on a lot like a 2205 or um, yeah. Yeah [161.59] Jack: 2026 [163.03] Stephen: Yeah, something like that. Okay, so that's going to pull less power than like a 2207 [167.83] Stephen: So you'd probably be okay on a 45 amp maybe a 35 even [172.15] Stephen: Yeah, 2207 they are [174.63] Stephen: Oh 2207. Okay. I thought you were on these ancient like emacs motors, but that was just no there eco [181.91] Stephen: Ah, the emacs eco. Yeah, i've got them i've got them [184.71] Stephen: I was running those on a quad up there in fact, and i'm doing that on a 35 amps [189.75] Stephen: See I haven't trashed it yet, but it's kind of my slow bruisey one [195.03] Stephen: Yeah, good something with a bit of headroom [197.11] Jack: because i've got separate eses [200.31] Jack: But uh kiss eses, but I just don't want to trim these wires down [206.47] Jack: right and I thought [209.67] Jack: i'll give bl heli a go and um [213.27] Stephen: If yeah, uh, yeah, what's the worst that can happen, right? [217.27] Stephen: Yeah, if you get curious you could always flash am32 just for giggles. I suppose as well [223.91] Stephen: That's supposed to have a similar feel to the kiss eses because it you can do like um [229.59] Stephen: Better braking and you can do sign mode startup [232.31] Stephen: But the developers told me you don't want to do sign mode startup because it dumps a ton of current [236.95] Stephen: And the transition from sign mode to not sign mode is kind of rough [241.35] Stephen: Apparently sign mode startup is really just a novelty thing [244.15] Stephen: You don't want it to actually work at speeds where it's providing thrust [247.51] Stephen: And you don't want to leave it in sign mode for too long [250.07] Stephen: Because unless you've got like a big rc crawler with a giant can [253.83] Stephen: It's going to put a ton of heat out and on like a 2207. There's just not enough places for the heat to go [261.59] Jack: Oh, wow, really? [263.67] Jack: Yeah [265.11] Jack: I did not know that i've yeah because that's something that you were you know, you were looking at the your fat tech ese [274.07] Jack: That's got trapezoidal [276.47] Jack: Mode, isn't it? [278.71] Stephen: If you think about it, it's less efficient, but it's pushing the same amount of current. So what does that mean? [283.67] Stephen: Well, ultimately it just means that the power is not going to make the motor spin [287.59] Stephen: It's going to be lost as electrical losses [290.55] Stephen: And uh, and so what you're doing is dumping a bunch of power into the coil isn't used as efficiently and it's just going out as heat [298.95] Jack: Nice [300.31] Jack: Um see what i've been playing with [303.19] Jack: Um the jst sh I bought myself the engineer crimpers [309.19] Jack: Oh my word to be able to make my own [311.91] Jack: cables, so yeah, i'm trying to [314.39] Jack: Trying to neaten up the fleet a bit really but I admire your persistence [319.19] Stephen: I I just went and I ordered the cables from aliexpress and had some poor child in china [324.55] Stephen: Make me up cables and send them to me [326.87] Stephen: I wish how do the printers work are the results good? [329.83] Jack: um [331.11] Jack: I've I've successfully done one [334.63] Jack: Out of many and it's very tedious and very annoying [340.47] Jack: So I do not recommend it at all [343.75] Stephen: I imagine you want to do a few and use them on like little led projects before you put them in a quad, right? [349.67] Stephen: Yeah, and I can't even [353.27] Jack: um [355.19] Jack: I I keep [356.55] Jack: I keep ordering the the the hubs to repair them because they get a bit mashed up on [363.27] Jack: on uh, the kiss flight controllers and stuff and I [367.59] Jack: Keep getting the horizontal ones. So if anyone knows the uh [372.31] Jack: The id for the the ones that oh, right? [378.15] Stephen: But they don't have pads on the other side because a lot of boards with jst's they put pads as well [383.43] Jack: No, they're but it's by side. So yeah, that's kind of what i've been up to [388.15] Jack: And it's been windy all hell [390.71] Stephen: I remember I started building with little um [394.79] Stephen: cheapo stacks and I had like an e sheen f3 stack like a 20 mil one that was all [400.63] Stephen: Jst's and they give you the jst's with the pvc wires and when you're learning to solder [406.71] Stephen: The mess that you make of jst's with pvc wires just atrocious [411.27] Stephen: The other end is just like [413.33] Stephen: A tangle of shorted gobs of solder with bits of plastic burnt on it and dripping. It's horrible [419.67] Jack: Not good. Have you been out flying? [423.67] Stephen: Have I been out flying i've been in flying actually i've done a whole load of whoop work whoop work [429.11] Jack: Hey, do you want to tell us about that for some time? [433.19] Stephen: I loved my fr sky because it was cheap [437.11] Stephen: Then it annoyed me because I could only fly down the bottom of the stairs and turn [442.07] Stephen: Uh left and if I turned right I fail safe to the bottom of the stairs [447.03] Stephen: I'm sick of that [448.39] Stephen: So I upgraded to elrs. I had this mob light [452.31] Stephen: Which is a bit of a fussy one because they're solder on motors on a whoop. So it's like insect surgery [459.35] Stephen: So I put that to an elrs diamond f4 board [462.95] Stephen: And did my insect surgery and I tried to upgrade the antenna [467.67] Stephen: But oh my god. No, it's like an a little enamel wire antenna [471.91] Stephen: Yeah [473.35] Stephen: Which is like absolute horror to try and remove [476.95] Stephen: it's a through-hole one [478.71] Stephen: annoyingly, but the [481.49] Stephen: Elrs antenna which doesn't really matter is not does my white mic work now surface one. Yeah [489.51] Stephen: But yeah, I I was able to re solder that but I could not for the life of me remove the antenna and after some experience, um [498.39] Stephen: With another board trying to pull out wires and re solder it. I just thought no i'm not doing it [503.59] Stephen: So I I left the antenna there. So it's 400 milliwatt with a piece of enamel wire [507.83] Stephen: Which is really great at getting the flight controller. It's about 75 degrees unless you take off quickly [514.39] Jack: um [516.71] Stephen: I also bought another one [518.71] Stephen: I bought one that had plugs because I don't hate myself enough to go through that again even on 65 mil [525.27] Stephen: And that's quite nice and fun [526.79] Stephen: But then I discovered the reason I stopped flying this at the end of last year is because the two rear motors keep seizing up [535.27] Stephen: And they look fine, but they just take off and then randomly stop spinning and it falls to the floor [541.91] Stephen: And uh, if I lower the startup power I can observe that the rear motors are not happy spinning [547.99] Stephen: So oh 702 motors in the post to test them out and replace them [553.67] Stephen: And another one that I did already using a 1s and 2s board for a bit of a giggle [559.19] Stephen: With a proper antenna connection proper dipole and all the dipole [564.63] Jack: No [566.63] Stephen: No soldering [567.75] Stephen: So I can I can fly anywhere in the house [570.63] Stephen: And I can even go and scare the rude cats that sit on the bike shed [574.95] Stephen: Outside and pick on our cats [577.43] Stephen: I can fly a whoop at them and say shoe because our cats are apparently too polite [582.31] Stephen: To to go and face off and they just sort of stand by the window looking terrified and go [587.83] Jack: Um [589.83] Stephen: So so I gave them a helping hand the poor little dears and and I scared them off with a lot of 75 more whoops [595.99] Stephen: They can go out into the garden again [597.99] Stephen: lucky things [599.27] Stephen: I know it's my flying [601.19] Jack: so rosy rosy pie and a camera with uh [606.07] Jack: An nvidia shield with auto detector went to text cat shapes [611.67] Jack: It alerts you to a cat alarm and out goes the whoop [616.23] Jack: And defend your territory [619.03] Stephen: Yeah, yeah [621.03] Stephen: That could work apart from the fact that i've got a little pond outside. So I probably lose a couple of whoops a week that way [627.35] Jack: Yeah, I'm getting there over it. You'll be fine. Curry. Are you flying? No [632.63] Curry: no flying this week because [634.95] Curry: I've mainly been having a bathroom being fitted [638.47] Curry: And uh that has led me to start working on the sim [641.51] Curry: And then I got involved too much in that and now I have to finish off what i'm doing before I do anything else [647.75] Jack: Um, I saw oscar lang today. Wow, I went in caught up with old oscar. Yeah [655.19] Jack: He's jacked. He's ripped. He's like [660.07] Jack: Been doing a ton of working out. He's got like a washboard stomach [666.15] Curry: I just felt like it's hard to tell because most people that have read oscar's blog and seen the occasional youtube video [672.71] Curry: Won't have seen any part of him whatsoever [676.07] Curry: I I have seen the photos you you took with him when you went flying years ago. Yeah [682.07] Curry: And I you know, he would be hard to pick up. I have a lineup. He's still like [687.27] Curry: If you took a photo directly of him, he might have like a blurry face like he'd been edited out [691.67] Curry: Is that incognito he manages to avoid all? [694.71] Jack: Yeah, I asked him. I asked him whether he'd come on. Let's turn out and he was just like I don't [701.83] Jack: Want that much information out there about me. So I was just like, oh, come on, man [707.83] Stephen: But no, he it's got his own website where he posts a series of news articles regularly. He's got a facebook group [715.51] Jack: Yeah, well, he's got a forum as well [718.39] Curry: He's he's got a forum, you know, and the entire thing is based around his name, but he doesn't want to be known [726.39] Curry: Yeah, see we went wrong in the beginning yeah, really [731.27] Stephen: How will people ever find anything out about him? [733.99] Stephen: I know mystery [735.99] Stephen: Well, good luck to him [737.59] Stephen: I did post on our news section that you know where there's a [741.43] Stephen: Washboard abs and everything. He's he's being indulging in a lot of screwing recently and he's posted an article about it [748.71] Stephen: He's discussing whether you want steel aluminium or titanium [753.59] Jack: Oh [754.79] Stephen: And the control button head versus socket head for example [759.43] Jack: I I I like a socket head [763.27] Jack: myself [764.47] Stephen: But I understand button head he's gone through and he's weighed them all [769.01] Stephen: Obsessively like he's got m3 8 mil and 6 mil bolts and he's freaking weighed [775.91] Stephen: every permutation of them, so [779.11] Stephen: I mean he clearly just blasted off an order to aliexpress and eventually it came in he's like right i've got to do something with this [785.91] Stephen: Apparently if you're weight conscious what you want is a button head aluminium [790.55] Stephen: Which is going to net you a grand total of naught point one seven [795.35] Stephen: grams on an m3 6 mil [797.91] Stephen: Whereas if you're a big porky chonker, you can go up to a steel [802.63] Stephen: With a twelve point nine high tensile rating and that's naught point six six grams [808.71] Stephen: How will you even take off with that? It's outrageous [812.15] Jack: Look the the thing is in the aluminium is i've [815.75] Jack: I've come carried back to us stay away from the line [819.59] Jack: I've i've used um only the hardened [824.39] Jack: Aluminium from immerged impulse [827.99] Jack: Yeah impulse rc [830.31] Jack: so [832.31] Jack: Um, but i've i've also come then come across chinese aluminium screws which [839.11] Stephen: Literally destroy themselves as you screw them into anything. I bought some chinese titanium screws and I think I can snap them in half with my teeth [847.43] Stephen: No, why have you still gone? [849.67] Stephen: Yeah, I I snapped the head clean off one over talking [854.39] Curry: I will buy anything [856.71] Curry: That doesn't instantly become like a round hole as I try and tighten up because like whoop that slipped [863.19] Curry: Whoop that slipped i've made a massive hole then I end up with a t driver bashing in [868.71] Curry: Just to make a new hole and screw that in or unscrew it [873.83] Curry: You're an animal [876.55] Stephen: Just use tape where's tony when you need him? Well, he's told me professional fittings [881.67] Stephen: Yeah, bit of aural tight call it good [884.31] Curry: Terrible [884.79] Curry: So did anybody go flying I I heard that I heard the steven story about weeps and cats [889.11] Stephen: Was that your flying thing for this week? That was my flying because it started to rain [894.39] Stephen: And where I live it is clay. So [897.51] Stephen: The local area is slowly filling the aquifer is raising and soon it will be about ankle height [905.91] Curry: No, yeah, it's been particularly windy over the last couple of weeks [908.95] Jack: Yes windy [911.91] Jack: It it settled [913.91] Jack: Uh for like the evening for the last two hours of daylight down here [918.95] Jack: Oh, yeah, how are you getting on? [921.59] Jack: Have you? There's no way [925.19] Stephen: I've hollowed it out [926.79] Stephen: So I can fit things into it [929.19] Stephen: I don't know what things are going to fit in there, but it's now a hollow fuselage instead of a solid fuselage [935.99] Stephen: hollow fuselage [938.79] Stephen: Of a little glider everyone [943.11] Stephen: Make these different sizes. This is one of the smaller ones [946.39] Stephen: There's an excel which I probably should have got in retrospect, but it looks like you were talking about the little curvy [952.47] Stephen: Curvy dihedral thingies, whatever they were [955.73] Stephen: polyhedral dihedral [958.15] Stephen: He'd really he'd really ends he'd really novels. Um, and apparently [963.67] Stephen: They make it fly better, but I noticed they're only on the small version. They are not on the large version [968.87] Stephen: That is a very small wing. I don't know if you can see that's my head [972.47] Stephen: That's a pretty small wing [975.27] Stephen: So [976.23] Jack: Yeah, people don't really know we need to get some of the bananas from 40 cent [980.63] Stephen: 45 centimeter wing so it's going to be interesting. I'm gonna have to be really careful with the electronics [987.11] Jack: Have you noticed this even aileron? [990.31] Jack: Uh mold marks in that wing [993.51] Stephen: Yeah, yeah, but they're yeah, they're ruddy tiny. Have you seen how tiny they are? [997.91] Curry: Yeah, yeah caroline saying that isn't a little glider [1000.95] Curry: I was going to say is that the little one or is it's one of the bangerd specials for like a quid [1005.19] Curry: This is I got two for six quid on ebay boom boom [1008.79] Curry: All right, so they're the bangerd joey job [1011.67] Curry: Yeah, I think the the little ones are bigger aren't they? [1014.39] Stephen: Yeah, caroline saying they only sell the excel version. Yeah. Yeah, I saw kids throwing the one i've got in the park. So [1021.19] Stephen: Yeah, they only sell the excel version, right? [1023.35] Stephen: So a couple of years ago, they did a small one like that, but now they only sell the [1027.75] Stephen: chunky chunker [1031.7] Jack: That's weird. I I went and got a few of those we got two of them for uh [1038.66] Jack: For my friend dan upton. What about you curry? Have you done anything? [1043.38] Curry: No, as explaining i've i've been waiting for my bathroom to be fitted [1047.54] Curry: So i've been here as the man keeps asking me confusing questions about which way up do you want the tiles? [1052.1] Curry: Which I didn't think would take quite so much [1054.66] Curry: Thought and then i've been trying to program the sim with racing [1060.98] Curry: Where i've got to the fact that i've got a racing thing [1064.98] Curry: and I have [1066.26] Curry: Spent today trying to model an archway in blender and that has been my progress [1071.3] Curry: I I still have to lay out courses and stuff and then I will be done with that [1076.66] Curry: But no nothing nothing not even look at it well i've looked at stuff, but that's about it [1082.26] Jack: I've I'm the delivery of any hint [1086.42] Jack: I've ordered stuff and i'm like, no [1088.98] Curry: No, i've still i've still got my sma adapters from last week that have to go on those uh antennas for open hd [1095.78] Curry: Which haven't got around to doing and i've still got that wing that needs maidening [1100.66] Curry: Uh, so i've got stuff to do when i'm gonna go out, but i'm finishing off what i'm doing [1105.7] Curry: And then i'll be off [1107.94] Curry: Trying to fly stuff [1109.7] Stephen: I did a vanity project. It's one of the vainest projects i've done [1115.06] Stephen: It's quite vain grand scheme of things. You know how I love my ugly old [1120.56] Stephen: Deviation handset [1123.46] Stephen: Yellow and I think it's amazing [1127.3] Stephen: so [1128.58] Stephen: I made a [1130.9] Stephen: In yellow I bought webbing and and I stitched it and took the buckles off another one [1136.26] Stephen: I made it sat in front the telly and stitched up the ends [1139.7] Stephen: And made myself a slightly longer than usual neck strap because the ones that you get with [1144.82] Stephen: Radios that claim to be fataba branded, but I somewhat doubt [1149.46] Stephen: Um are rather short and I i'm not [1153.06] Stephen: Not running my rip, you know, everyone's seen these orange ones that have fatale printed on them [1158.26] Jack: How bad did you get told off caroline? Apparently, uh, she flew tuesday [1163.7] Jack: Drove to the ribblehead viaduct [1166.66] Jack: And used my new to meet digi mini 2 and my fbv plane and got told off [1174.1] Jack: Just a little [1175.54] Curry: Who'd you get told off by? [1178.02] Stephen: The viaduct police. I know. Yeah, some dog walker probably. Yeah. Was it a dog walker? [1185.38] Stephen: be honest [1187.78] Jack: I can't believe how much you love that [1190.5] Jack: that yellow radio [1193.06] Curry: Bizarre, I mean he's doubled the weight of it with that strap now [1196.74] Stephen: Yeah, well, I learned to fly on it. So it's just you know, like you like your tyrannis and stuff [1202.5] Jack: Yeah [1203.46] Jack: Literally got like no [1205.86] Jack: anything [1208.26] Stephen: Know anything what do you mean know anything it does a fail you have to like updates [1212.66] Stephen: You can't do that on a bloody tango, too [1215.7] Jack: Yeah, didn't you have to like get it to [1219.54] Jack: Oh, oh my god, you're dicing me a lie [1222.5] Jack: We got a visitor. This is very unusual [1225.46] Stephen: yeah, so [1226.58] Stephen: That deviation handset is that like the fanciest deviation handset you can get apart from one that they did as a v3 [1233.54] Stephen: Which was black and looked boring and had on board [1236.42] Stephen: I had an on board voice module that one doesn't have the on board voice module [1240.58] Stephen: I could mod it in but I can't be asked. I don't really like voices that much, but it does telemetry. It's got an OLED screen [1247.54] Stephen: It does crsf. It does the menus for elrs [1252.28] Stephen: And yeah, a thousand hertz gimbal updates and i've got the ago one mini gimbals in there. So it's just perfect [1258.36] Jack: Oh, man. Yeah, didn't you have to like write your own code to get that the [1262.92] Stephen: Lua script working and stuff. I did quite a lot of testing and yeah, I did read the c code, but it just looked like [1270.76] Stephen: moon code [1272.6] Stephen: so, um [1273.96] Stephen: Yeah, I didn't end up actually editing it. Oh, so she's got the same and added the uh, ah, right [1280.68] Stephen: So someone who yeah, okay, so someone does it being undercut it paid actual money [1286.68] Stephen: And uh was pissed off. She turned up without the relevant affidavits [1291.72] Stephen: Fair enough [1293.08] Jack: Yeah, you should have been like yo, do you want my footage? [1296.2] Jack: you know like [1298.76] Curry: You know get closer unless it's a no fly zone. It's like it's perfectly fine to fly there [1305.24] Stephen: Unless he's trying to get these sweeping pans and she's just like absolutely ripping it [1314.36] Jack: He's there with like a phantom four [1317.56] Stephen: or three [1319.4] Stephen: He's up there with his matrice slowly panning side to side taking geographic shots [1324.68] Stephen: Hoping to sell them on for 20 grand to some tv company. Meanwhile, there's this fbv plane like screaming past 110 [1332.28] Curry: This sounds like a bit if you've ever been down in like a tourist place [1336.68] Curry: And someone decides they're going to take a picture of someone so they say stand in front of [1341.0] Curry: The statue and then they walk backwards like 30 feet [1345.54] Curry: Expecting no one to cross in front when it's on like the pavement. That's a bit like that sort of thing [1350.44] Curry: It's like i'm here i'm trying to film here. Well, i'm flying my plane around screw off [1355.16] Stephen: photobomb [1356.36] Curry: photobomb yeah [1359.0] Curry: You'll you'll get a nice picture of a plane for scale and you can you can pretend the viaduct's incredibly big [1364.44] Stephen: I'm allowed to be there. He was fascinated by the plane. So maybe that's a good turn [1371.0] Stephen: Is this your new he wing caroline because I saw that you were doing a little build vid on that [1377.8] Curry: Yeah, i'm only i'm only the first sort of six minutes into that i'm still another 40 odd minutes to watch for the second part [1383.32] Stephen: Oh [1384.84] Curry: You've knocked things on the floor [1386.44] Stephen: I was intrigued by the off-brand wing controller and I spent quite a while trying to check it out [1390.84] Stephen: Looks like a clone of a matek f405 [1394.84] Stephen: Which looks like it's no longer available, but was apparently quite good value when it was still for sale [1401.08] Jack: Yeah, I tried to repair this something that um [1405.4] Jack: Uh paul gave me and it's got an internal short [1410.04] Jack: I'd get it working and then it would just heat itself up and then just short [1415.24] Jack: and I updated it and [1418.44] Jack: But the early it had the early bl heli noises on it as well. So i've been i've been trying to do stuff [1424.04] Jack: I've literally got no choice [1427.08] Jack: other than spend a million pounds on a four in one ese [1432.76] Jack: but to go back [1434.84] Jack: to the [1437.06] Jack: historic [1439.56] Jack: historic quad build [1441.32] Jack: You know of the [1443.16] Jack: You know the the early days [1446.28] Jack: I think that's my only choice [1450.26] Curry: Everything is very expensive, isn't it? [1452.34] Curry: It's like oh, I could just do with buying one of these things to put in that thing and then you look at it [1456.58] Curry: You're like no, i'm not going to do that. That's why I was just talking about something [1462.34] Stephen: I was looking at hobbyrc and they stock a bunch of sky stars who seem to have got an unfair [1467.86] Stephen: Reputation they've been around almost as long as I flight but for some reason they don't have the snappy marketing or whatever [1474.18] Stephen: Their kit seems to be available at a good price [1478.98] Stephen: I talked to the guy who was doing pcb layout and he had some really interesting ideas. He was [1484.82] Stephen: Not just doing castellated pads [1486.66] Stephen: But trying to offset the pads at an angle so that they could decrease the width of the esc [1492.34] Stephen: But give you nice long pads, but diagonal [1495.7] Stephen: So you'd have yeah, it's very interesting layout look pretty cool [1501.22] Jack: Yeah, we should we should get caroline on one of these days because it was quite a laugh at the uh [1509.62] Jack: Spv drone fest was that right? Our calendar is quite free at the moment [1516.74] Stephen: having a [1518.9] Stephen: We're thinking about who we should book if anyone's got any ideas [1522.42] Stephen: Do let us know because i'm drawing blank after blank after blank [1526.18] Jack: You well, weren't you talking about some sort of nutcase that's building his own helicopter? [1531.78] Curry: I think he's dead now already after another [1535.54] Curry: Well, it wouldn't take much with it [1537.7] Stephen: Looking at how that thing was flying twin rotor. What do you call it? Not not collective? [1544.1] Curry: It was a coaxial [1546.82] Curry: Which was presumably has fixed pitch blades [1549.3] Stephen: Yeah [1549.78] Curry: That he was hovering around looking very shaky and had a bit of a dodgy landing [1554.18] Curry: It was just the fact that that whole assembly was shaken about above his head by like a wonderful [1560.18] Stephen: It was uh incredibly scary got an outboard motor and run a helicopter off it. I mean what more can you ask for? [1567.14] Stephen: pure risk [1568.66] Stephen: At the upside he was able to attain a height of something like four foot off the floor [1573.54] Stephen: A considerably greater risk than using a step ladder [1578.82] Stephen: Absolutely incredible [1580.34] Curry: It's it's interesting how [1582.58] Curry: Homebuilt helis work the opposite to hobby where it's like few mistakes high is what we go with and they're like [1589.14] Curry: No more than half a mistake high in case it just conks out and completely crashes [1594.1] Stephen: And he had like landing skids front to back and then he put another set of bars out the side [1599.38] Stephen: Just in case it tipped so it was like 30 feet wide [1603.3] Stephen: It's gigantic [1604.98] Curry: It was very weird [1606.74] Curry: Yeah, everyone the last guest [1609.7] Curry: I talked to and ignored our email eventually got back to me and said i'm going to check you out and let you know [1615.62] Curry: So he's probably checked us out because he hasn't let me know [1619.54] Jack: Oh, yeah, well, I don't know just to [1622.82] Jack: Try and have another I I asked oscar to put like a little shout out and get some ideas and that [1628.66] Jack: want to [1629.94] Jack: Want to try and do some nerdy shows see if you know [1633.7] Jack: I'm half tempted to like start going through some [1638.42] Jack: old stuff and like see whether I can get an email for cadex or [1643.14] Jack: You know run cam and see whether there's any engineers or [1647.7] Jack: that would actually [1650.74] Jack: Rather than uh, rather than sales people it's quite difficult really [1656.18] Curry: I'd love to chat to some of these engineers just to ask them what their their testing policy is [1662.42] Curry: Which doesn't seem to exist. It's like we we ship it [1666.26] Curry: We wait for the folks to come up and then we make a new one [1670.5] Stephen: Well, maybe we should talk to some of the beta flight people because they're actually behind the scenes trying to corral a lot of vendors [1678.02] Stephen: Into discussions to actually validate that things like the power isolation is good [1684.02] Stephen: To make sure that the gyro is getting clean power and you don't find out about it only after you've crashed like three quads [1690.1] Stephen: And the customers are screaming [1692.1] Stephen: We could ask a few people. There's a few in australia [1695.46] Curry: I think there's a problem as as the weather changes isn't there about there's less flying going on [1701.06] Curry: therefore there tends to be [1703.7] Curry: It in in the past years it's been a case of everybody buying stuff and building stuff [1709.38] Curry: But of course, nobody wants to spend money on stuff now because it's too expensive [1713.46] Curry: And everything else is going up get car from hd0 and his goggles are out soon [1717.86] Curry: I hear is that he's someone to talk to [1720.5] Stephen: He asked guest to come back. He was busy with racing and he was to be fair [1725.86] Stephen: But yeah, he said he does very few public appearances [1730.98] Frank: This episode was recorded in front of a live online audience downloaded and edited to make sense when it played audio only [1737.7] Frank: Sensors to please the itunes people hosted on the internet forwarded through to your podcast provider [1742.5] Frank: Downloaded playing on your device and is now playing in your ears all thanks to our patreons [1748.26] Frank: Consider joining them and you'll also get other online benefits find out more at patreon.com [1754.74] Frank: Let's drone out [1757.54] Jack: Caroline and train seekers [1761.46] Jack: Oh, watch out later [1764.42] Jack: I can't believe they listed Caroline terry stand-in [1768.82] Jack: Yeah [1770.42] Jack: You funny looking terry [1773.62] Curry: I saw that before we came on there was talk about uh, the geeks of honor people trying to get hold of verden for the [1782.26] Curry: umpteenth time I cannot believe [1785.22] Curry: The micros that drone was it now v3 or four is still ongoing [1792.34] Curry: uh [1793.3] Curry: I don't think anybody's had [1795.86] Curry: Any quads, I mean it became [1798.1] Curry: Slightly irrelevant two years in and another two years on it's like even more irrelevant [1804.42] Stephen: I don't suppose you own that little brush thing [1808.5] Curry: Mm-hmm [1810.26] Curry: Did you remember that time we had him on and we met him [1813.22] Curry: Yeah at the drone show [1814.98] Jack: Yeah, you you missed your opportunity to kill him then [1819.3] Curry: I mean [1820.74] Curry: weirdly verden's actually quite likeable but in a case of like [1825.38] Curry: If you meet a mad person that believes around bullshit [1828.26] Curry: They can also be quite likeable and he was convinced that all these things were absolute genius [1833.86] Curry: And he was really enthusiastic about it and that enthusiasm was kind of catching [1838.34] Curry: and he didn't like to point out that um [1841.46] Curry: Yeah, it's not that and even when I did point out it's not that and he said do you still stand by that? [1845.06] Curry: And i'm like, yeah, and he's like no you can't it's brilliant [1849.3] Curry: He's a weird one. Oh, he's turned up apparently [1851.78] Stephen: Well, it's nice that people have a hobby and they should be allowed to go do that [1856.1] Stephen: It's just a shame if they insist that their hobby should be used by thousands of other people [1862.1] Curry: That gets to be a bit more in dispute. Well, we ended up doing a whole show about um [1867.6] Curry: Kickstarters and similar ilk, didn't we and and the general message is buyer beware [1874.74] Curry: Uh, you're you're investing in someone's idea don't necessarily expect to get the product [1880.18] Stephen: But that didn't stop even if you do get the process it's like buying it on a random flea market [1885.62] Stephen: It's not like you're going into a store and you've got proper support. You've effectively given someone [1890.82] Stephen: Cash for a prototype and there's no guarantee that that prototype's going to stand the test at the time or they'll stand behind it in future [1897.94] Stephen: Or or even that it gets made [1900.42] Stephen: Yeah [1901.46] Curry: That is the problem [1902.58] Stephen: There's a couple of sites aren't there and some of them give you a money back if they don't actually [1907.3] Stephen: Reach the target and with others. It's just like yeah, your money's gone the instant if they don't reach the target [1913.38] Curry: It doesn't go ahead and you get your money back if it reaches the target [1917.3] Curry: they ship the money off to them and they [1920.34] Curry: They give updates and [1922.42] Curry: Do what they do, but you know if their business plan is wrong [1926.34] Curry: If they spunk all the money up the wall and say look we tried we didn't do it [1931.22] Stephen: There's business plan business plan is to send all the money to this account and the caimans and then yeah, we've got a meeting [1938.26] Stephen: Where well not here. See ya [1940.42] Stephen: Bye because there was a thing with kickstarter and then kickstarter were getting really sick of these projects and they moved them into [1947.94] Stephen: To a different channel, right? [1950.1] Stephen: Not a different channel a different website people started to [1954.42] Stephen: To not be kickstarters for hardware stuff [1959.82] Curry: Um, I mean his one wasn't kickstarter was it was the other one [1963.26] Curry: What was it called? [1964.78] Curry: thingy [1965.98] Stephen: Something I think kickstarter actually had a lot of blowback from from those reputationally [1973.91] Curry: Yeah, I mean it's not something I [1976.71] Curry: Jump on very often at all at all so far. My wife did once I started getting random like [1982.23] Curry: Why have we paid 90 pounds to this kickstarter project? Have we been scammed? I started calling the bank saying what's going on? [1987.75] Curry: She's like no [1988.95] Curry: I backed a project [1991.91] Curry: Weird crazy what really yeah pippa backed a project about [2000.23] Curry: It was something to do with something you're having like medical experts actually answer [2005.75] Curry: medical questions [2007.59] Curry: It's it's basically trying to stop [2010.87] Curry: uh [2011.91] Curry: the idea of people generating [2014.71] Curry: Rumors about medical stuff and incentivizing like medical experts to actually talk about it [2020.15] Curry: Which it's it's a bit like when um, you meet someone like about coronavirus like tony who say things like do the research [2027.51] Curry: It's like well not a phd like biochemist. So I don't know if that's appropriate to there. He is [2033.75] Curry: It's so far he's alive [2036.23] Curry: But it wouldn't surprise me if we read about this terrible accident soon [2039.99] Stephen: Yeah [2041.27] Stephen: Yeah [2042.23] Stephen: For no apparent reason this man's head fell off last tuesday [2045.83] Stephen: Experts are still consulting as to why this happened [2049.35] Stephen: It's done an impressive amount of work. I mean he he's a machinist by trade and he's a pretty accomplished one [2056.23] Curry: It's really impressive. But part of the reason I like to fly models [2060.87] Curry: Is because it's all the thrills with none of the risk to my life [2065.83] Curry: When I think about putting myself [2069.27] Curry: In a light aircraft [2070.95] Curry: Then I go like people like do you not want to fly in real life? It's like no i've been in a like a cesna [2077.91] Curry: It's it's a horrible. It's like a terrible fairground ride where you think you're going to die all the time [2082.47] Curry: Yeah, it's like when you're making it as well. They can be smooth but [2087.51] Curry: Too much too much can go [2089.27] Stephen: You remember being like under the age of 20 when one of your mates thought they had a cool car and it was a banger [2094.23] Stephen: And they drove it way too fast to try and impress you [2096.95] Stephen: It's it's like that isn't it being an assessor like are you sure this thing is going to be one piece by the time? [2102.95] Stephen: We finish this trip [2104.79] Curry: Yeah, and i've been in loads of accidents because my friends [2108.07] Curry: Were driving around the cars and like oh we've crashed into another car. Oh [2113.03] Curry: gary, I notice you've [2115.03] Curry: Was set like this [2116.47] Curry: In a ditch saying um, did you not see that turning then? It's like we're literally [2121.51] Curry: In a ditch filling up with water in the middle of the countryside. It's like well, there's no imagine you're riding this contraption [2129.27] Curry: Yeah [2132.23] Curry: I kind of feel like if you're gonna do it [2134.95] Curry: commit [2135.99] Curry: Go up high fly around because what he's doing he's basically going around trying to hover isn't he? [2140.87] Curry: And it's always going to look flaky because hovering [2144.87] Curry: Something like that is going to be tricky [2147.35] Curry: And he's got that [2149.75] Curry: your proper [2151.51] Curry: Helicopter has got some sort of uh special jar of stabilization to like to keep the tail in and all sorts of stuff like that [2157.03] Curry: So he's going to always struggle with it. It might look better if he goes up like 100 feet buzzard around a few fields [2163.19] Stephen: Why it's like if you build a heli that's got like [2167.03] Stephen: I don't know a model heli with a 40 centimeter prop or something and you can put a flight control on that [2172.79] Stephen: Why not just put a flight control on it and have it gyro stabilized? [2176.07] Stephen: Why is he trying to manually stabilize it just seems like that's all the risk and none of the reward [2182.79] Curry: Because he has to he's he hasn't got his direct control to that is literally he's got this stick [2190.63] Curry: Eventually, he's got the motor on a stick and he moves to stick back and forth left and right [2196.07] Curry: In order to to decide which way he's going. So that would be [2200.55] Stephen: So he's moved to fly by wire to start with and servo stabilize the the motor and when he's got the motor on servos [2207.19] Stephen: They need to be pretty chunky servos and then he could consider it need to be chunky servos [2212.47] Curry: but um, and then [2215.03] Curry: the [2216.63] Curry: the um the tail works by [2219.91] Curry: Varying the speed of one of the props I think and this sort of thing [2223.99] Curry: Uh, we've we've asked peter spiro. He doesn't or shrieple. He doesn't answer emails. I'm afraid [2229.27] Curry: He'd be a great guest [2231.03] Stephen: It's too busy doing backstroke in his pool of money [2234.39] Curry: Yeah [2236.79] Curry: stuff thing [2238.55] Curry: This thing when you make it you make it that's it to quickly answer carl c's question my my heli flying [2245.35] Curry: I'm just waiting to go back out in the field and and fly it some more. It does need [2249.83] Curry: Quite a calm day [2251.51] Curry: that the heli [2253.19] Curry: even though it's like 110 [2255.43] Curry: mil big [2256.87] Curry: Handles wind quite well in the hands of an expert pilot in the hands of beginner. It can be a bit of a liability [2264.07] Curry: And it tends to you know, how you can like stop a quad on a dime if you want to it's like [2270.07] Curry: With the heli I tried to do the same thing and it kept coming. It's like oh, it's gonna hit my face [2275.43] Curry: It takes a little bit more to spin around especially that sort of thing. So if if the wind's coming at me [2281.27] Curry: Then that's bad [2282.55] Stephen: If the wind's going away is that something trying to smooth out the controls and stop you skid stopping the heli? [2288.87] Curry: Because it's too violent or what no because I I started off in this giro mode [2293.59] Curry: Which is basically equivalent to like an angle mode thing. But now i've moved over to [2299.03] Curry: Oh, did I send you that one still got it [2301.91] Curry: Still got it. I've moved out the proper 3d mode. Although not flying 3d. It's essentially [2307.67] Curry: like flying acro [2309.67] Curry: Right [2310.63] Stephen: That's like constant head speed and you're changing the collective to go up and down [2315.59] Curry: the [2316.55] Curry: The head speed's not constant [2319.03] Curry: Um, it's linked to a throttle curve. You can make it constant with the idle up switch [2324.07] Curry: But then it goes to 100 which sounds frightening [2327.11] Stephen: So I haven't gone there. Yeah, there's usually a couple of switches like for head speed [2330.39] Stephen: So you could set constant head speed but 60 percent head speed or something [2335.43] Curry: Oh, you could do [2336.87] Curry: But um that I suppose the whole idea of idle up is it's completely controlled by [2342.07] Curry: The collective pitch and so right, you know, you're going to vary your collective based on how fast you want it to go [2348.23] Curry: Up and down and stuff and j did recently do a heli video. I watched it. Yeah, he's got one of those. Um [2353.51] Jack: He's still alive [2355.99] Curry: Yeah, he's he's off touring again. I've been looking at his instagram and he's he's off with [2360.63] Curry: Good old kim doing his thing with his guitar [2364.87] Stephen: Whatever [2367.11] Stephen: I know [2368.79] Stephen: so heli flights him I actually uh [2372.55] Stephen: Tried to do some heli flights him stuff [2377.03] Stephen: against my um [2379.51] Stephen: instincts because i'm pretty terrible at it [2382.63] Stephen: and [2383.51] Stephen: The one I found that was the easiest to get hold of and I think the best was at qrc too [2390.39] Stephen: And you can get a demo of it [2392.71] Stephen: Give it a go [2395.99] Stephen: Um, and yeah, you can crash a heli more times than your bank accounts can sustain all [2402.87] Stephen: In one session without worrying about things it. I don't know if it's realistic. I've never flown a heli other than comedy helis like toy helis [2411.35] Curry: Oh, yeah, I think you mentioned that well last time I kept trying to check it out and i've I've forgotten [2415.59] Curry: The one that i'm using was called or is called [2419.19] Curry: i'm looking for it in my [2421.35] Curry: List of apps here. I can't find it [2424.15] Curry: It's like called x [2425.67] Curry: Heli or something like that heli something [2429.83] Curry: Where's my search bar [2435.4] Jack: I didn't touch it if that's what you mean [2438.52] Curry: Yeah, helis dash x 10 where there is also a um a free version with like [2444.6] Curry: Three or four helis in a couple of planes and that right that feels not bad [2449.4] Curry: I think the problem always in sims is [2453.4] Curry: The the lack of risk and often there's a lack of wind [2457.54] Curry: considerations [2458.84] Curry: um is you you tend to [2461.72] Curry: Be able to to just automatically risk and commit more without worrying about it [2467.16] Curry: Which is quite good for sort of figuring out [2469.48] Curry: Your your general muscle memory [2471.64] Curry: And things it's still so hard as a quad pilot to get past the [2476.76] Curry: Drop the throttle in the first case of an instant problem [2481.48] Curry: Um, because of course and on a heli situation that will sort of dive the heli down more fortunately on my on my throttle [2489.08] Curry: that the throttle down is like [2491.4] Curry: zero throttle at least so it just drops out of the sky, but [2494.6] Stephen: I was going to ask if your model has kind of an o [2498.28] Stephen: Insert expletive button that just freezes it [2503.46] Curry: Uh, no, I mean I could I could flick it back into gyro mode [2508.5] Curry: And it will sort of self-right itself and well altitude hold [2512.18] Curry: There's no altitude hold now. It's not that it's not that complicated [2515.46] Curry: But often the case of when when i'm in the midst of like i've got my oh [2519.86] Curry: Time i'm flying reasonably low so I can keep [2524.5] Curry: A decent look of what's happening and not too far away because it's only little [2529.14] Curry: If I was up high then i'd like lose orientation a bit quick and struggle. So often it's case when i'm coming into the corner [2536.9] Curry: Bad things happen and I lose it there. I did talk to nj who watched my last video and he said you've got to [2542.9] Curry: Just commit on it [2544.58] Curry: and rescue it and [2546.82] Curry: Use the tail [2548.34] Curry: Much much more than the roll. Don't don't think about coordinating the turn so much [2552.74] Curry: And just bring the tail around and let it follow so i've got some some extra bits to do [2558.34] Stephen: Yeah, that's surprising me, but it makes a lot of sense when you think about how a heli is built [2562.9] Curry: Um, it's got so much more authority. Sorry is is mentioning rc life on have you guys been watching him? [2569.3] Curry: No, i'm using he was trying to he's the guy that made the um, the sort of rc surfboard [2575.22] Curry: Just kept sticking. I heard of motors and things and he recently I watched on today. We tried to make a [2583.06] Curry: Jesus christ, what'd you call it when that when the board comes out of the water on a hydrofoil? [2587.22] Curry: He tried to make a hydrofoil board and the first thing he did is is did this 3d print of a hydrofoil which I thought [2593.7] Curry: That's not going to work. It's really long and thin and the instant he put power on it. The whole thing just cracked [2600.58] Curry: But um, he he he got it going in the water, but he didn't get up on the on the hydrofoil [2607.06] Stephen: He's got some pretty interesting stuff. Actually [2609.78] Stephen: Um, one of the things that I watched recently [2613.14] Stephen: Which he did was an underwater drone where he took drone parts and he just straight up [2618.82] Stephen: light made a submarine [2620.82] Stephen: 3d printed a sub [2622.58] Curry: And then oh, yeah, that didn't work. Particularly blind it [2625.62] Jack: last light [2626.74] Jack: That's some serious thunder to you [2628.74] Jack: But the vibes right there [2633.03] Curry: So he used did did he on that one? Did he use the floating the tether idea where he's like got the [2640.47] Curry: Instead of having the whole thing tethered. Yeah, he's got a tether there [2644.95] Curry: Oh, I thought the tether was just for the um [2648.47] Curry: Just to get the antenna up above on the on the top of the water. Yeah, I don't I think the tether is purely for control [2653.99] Stephen: Because obviously you just can't punch through water. It's like trying to punch rf through steel sheets [2659.91] Stephen: It's a lot of work [2661.75] Stephen: Yeah, I think he ended up just frying it repeatedly because he wasn't actually able to seal it properly [2668.39] Curry: That seems to be is he's always doing stuff in water and so far he hasn't really [2674.23] Curry: Had had a good situation [2676.23] Curry: It's kind of cool [2677.91] Jack: Yeah, it does look neat [2680.55] Curry: Yeah [2681.51] Curry: That I mean there are some open source projects. There's one called open rov [2686.31] Curry: That goes to uh do this sort of thing [2689.83] Curry: but it's nice to think you can [2692.07] Curry: I say it's nice to think you can make it with your basic 3d printed bits and a bit of silicone, but he's flooded awfully [2698.63] Stephen: Yeah [2699.27] Stephen: The good thing is the motor's obviously a waterproof [2701.75] Stephen: So if you could only like really seal it up, I think what he's done wrong is he puts all his faith in the outer shell [2707.99] Stephen: Whereas like real subs the outer shell is just like a bumper basically and then they've got an inner shell [2715.11] Stephen: Inside of that so that if you smack the outer shell and get a few drips of water in it [2719.75] Stephen: No, great shakes [2721.19] Stephen: And so it's okay until the inner hulls breach, right? [2725.03] Stephen: But anyways, that's an interesting idea. He'll be a cool guest to have on for sure [2732.46] Jack: There you go. There's tony. Hello tony [2736.7] Jack: Or is it really tony? We don't know tony could have died and someone else is right [2742.06] Stephen: It could be yeah, it could be as evil twin [2745.9] Stephen: manner [2747.18] Stephen: Could be a clone [2749.66] Stephen: Could be tony for ultimate dimension who thinks the world is round [2753.9] Stephen: Robo tits tony [2756.46] Curry: His brother looks exactly the same. He could just be [2759.66] Jack: Yeah [2760.78] Jack: He's done a mustache [2762.62] Stephen: Yeah [2763.66] Stephen: Be shaved so [2766.78] Jack: Yeah, that's the only way we can tell the real tony because of the scar on the chin [2773.1] Stephen: Um, yeah, so I was talking about nj's video curry [2776.3] Stephen: I did a a brief bit of research the one you've got the xk looks like a great place to start for beginners [2782.62] Stephen: But it became apparent doing a bit of reading that [2785.82] Stephen: Omp hobby is like where you go if you fancy yourself a bit of a heli pilot after having uh [2792.06] Stephen: got through [2793.18] Stephen: a few crashes [2794.78] Stephen: And the the latest video is got is the omp hobby m2 evo, which is an update to the m2 [2801.58] Stephen: With slightly bigger motors a longer tail and other bits and bobs and yeah, I did actually watch the video. I think a while ago [2808.94] Curry: Yeah, nj sent me [2811.58] Curry: A video of his one of his new omp machines [2816.06] Curry: Um, and he was flying it [2818.22] Curry: Uh, I think in his house in like a thin hallway [2822.38] Curry: Well, it's like well, that's looks a bit thin for people just spinning it around and doing nj things [2827.98] Curry: And he's like look I can just put the control on on the ground because it's so stable [2832.54] Curry: It will just it will just sit there and he's like these these are really good [2836.22] Curry: Yeah, so only [2838.86] Jack: Yeah, a good thing. Did did any of you guys catch the the rl stuff? [2845.66] Jack: Nah, what happened? [2848.14] Jack: I don't I I don't know. I didn't really follow it. I heard [2851.98] Jack: I heard a few people like mention it and they're just as far as I know they're [2857.74] Jack: They're just like up in the the sort of like drama of it [2862.62] Jack: You know and like rivalry between the the pilots [2867.98] Jack: But yeah, it's about it. Really. I just thought i'd show a little [2872.86] Jack: Yeah, little few little clips and that but [2877.02] Stephen: I didn't really kind of have trouble with the amount of punditry [2881.34] Stephen: If I if I could see a show that was like 20 minutes of just people racing i'd watch it [2886.78] Stephen: But if they spend ages like hyping it up and talking about the pilots [2891.1] Stephen: And if they cut the pilots like sitting there wearing goggles in the middle of a race and don't just show me the camera [2896.78] Stephen: I just I just don't care [2899.1] Jack: Yeah [2901.58] Jack: If you like leds then [2905.74] Stephen: You know which takes us to the land speeder stuff, right? [2908.78] Stephen: So the crashtastic land speeder people have actually been flying their crashtastic land speeders round in a crashtastic race [2916.62] Stephen: No way really. Yeah, and it was so oh my god [2920.94] Stephen: The camera the camera work could have been done by [2924.3] Stephen: an mtv [2925.66] Stephen: Cameraman with ADHD [2927.5] Stephen: So you got like three seconds in cockpit and you could glance at the speedo and it's doing like 70 kilometers an hour [2934.14] Stephen: And then they cut to someone in the pit shouting into a mic and then they cut to someone holding a radio [2938.7] Stephen: They cut to someone like pulling an expression and they cut back and they they've moved like three meters forward [2944.46] Stephen: There's still light going along in a straight line at 70 kmh [2948.3] Stephen: And then they cut back to someone shouting into a mic and it was all like oh, it was just exhausting to watch [2953.34] Stephen: You you didn't get enough camera footage to actually tell how the things were flying [2958.94] Stephen: They probably had [2960.14] Stephen: 30 seconds footage total of actual flight in the absence. That's all they managed [2965.9] Stephen: Yeah, that's probably all they managed for soldering going about [2969.34] UNKNOWN: I [2970.62] Stephen: Did notice when they were cornering they slowed down to something like 30 kilometers an hour [2976.46] Stephen: So they're still very much in test phase. They're not letting these things rip. I didn't say any speeds in triple digits [2982.54] Stephen: It was all 70 kilometers an hour under [2985.74] Stephen: so [2986.86] Stephen: They've got it up in the air. They've not decapitated anyone, which is good [2990.7] Stephen: Um, they haven't landed on anyone. So if they manage a couple seasons without fatalities, no, no, no, not [2997.18] Stephen: Oh, that's not the no, that's not the land speeder guys. That's the guy [3002.86] Curry: It's just a man that's out [3005.66] Stephen: He got this thing on the highway didn't he he's just like driving along a road like waving at people as he overtakes them [3013.1] Curry: Guys, I can't even remember what the thing's cool. It's it's a [3016.7] Curry: Pulse jet he's out of pole jetting Bruce with these things [3019.5] Curry: I like the fact these things literally glow to the point that they melt [3023.02] Curry: And he's like, oh, it's like oh you're on fire [3026.22] Curry: It's fine. Don't worry [3029.18] Stephen: Pulse jets are really basic, right? They're highly inefficient [3033.74] Curry: Oh, yeah [3034.94] Curry: Super noisy and they get no moving parts [3037.5] Stephen: This is what Colin first was building just to make stupid amounts of noise, right? [3044.04] Curry: Oh, he's definitely does one jet stuff [3047.8] Curry: Quite but he also did a I think he's had the best [3051.88] Curry: Um [3053.24] Curry: idea of self-propelled [3055.64] Curry: Quadcopter where he just had a bicoptera in fact and tried riding it like a motorbike, which was mental [3062.44] Stephen: And somehow yes, I saw that that that was pretty awesome [3066.6] Stephen: Yeah [3067.48] Stephen: Wow, I think he's actually fairly safe. He started as a plumber, right? [3071.4] Stephen: So he's got all his gas safe [3073.32] Stephen: He knows actually how to connect these things together and he knows what's going to happen if it goes wrong [3078.04] Stephen: So for all the daredevil [3080.92] Stephen: Stuff I think he's actually he's pretty yeah, he knows what he's doing, but he still goes [3085.72] Curry: Very fast on very dodgy vehicles, but he's in the last year. He's been building his tunnel, which has been a [3091.96] Curry: bit of an epic [3093.64] Curry: uh building project anyway [3095.16] Stephen: I like the way how he dug the tunnel and then he announced that he'd uh bothered to put in for planning permission [3101.0] Stephen: After he dug it say hey, guess what? I can now show you this [3105.0] Stephen: because [3106.04] Stephen: They approved the planning permission [3108.84] Curry: Do I need to plan to fill it up with concrete? I just dug a hole really it's saying whatever [3116.04] Stephen: Just dug a hole put a bunch of little mine cars in it [3119.56] Stephen: He wants to do one of those lifters to put his car on a raised platform now [3123.72] Stephen: So it goes into the driveway and freaking batmobiles it down into a secret area [3128.84] Curry: It's like a bat cave, but with a delorean [3131.88] Stephen: Yeah, that's more fun. So better [3134.2] Curry: Given what they've done to the batmobile recently, so we put colin and the list of guests that we probably won't get either [3140.28] Jack: Yeah [3142.92] Jack: Um, I just want to say a special [3146.26] Jack: Congratulations to the lettuce the lettuce out. I know we don't really get political in the show, but [3153.16] Jack: the lettuce outlived the um [3157.64] Jack: Our current prime minister of 45 days [3161.24] Stephen: Sorry, oh has gone. Oh well done [3165.56] Curry: Yeah, sorry you watched the news as much as me my daughter had to tell me in a in a group whatsapp [3172.28] Stephen: Saying apparently that prime minister I did notice that we'd had as many chances of the xjekka between [3178.74] Stephen: 1993 and 2016 as we did between 2020 and 2022 [3184.76] Stephen: Which just shows how much of a great job they're doing [3188.2] Jack: It was looking a bit rough [3192.52] Jack: but [3194.84] Curry: You know, I didn't know that was the thing can liz trust outlast the lettuce [3200.2] Jack: I like it. Yeah, and then and then [3203.4] Jack: You know got breakfast and then it was party time [3208.36] Jack: And they had sparkle where where is the lettuce I see a bag of gregs but that is the lettuce there [3215.56] Jack: In the wind. Oh that looks [3217.88] Stephen: That was a great in the wig [3220.36] Stephen: It looks like a melon [3222.28] Jack: I see it was a lettuce [3224.44] Stephen: Okay [3226.52] Curry: Give me a cabbage [3229.56] Jack: Yeah, that's how it started and uh in lettuce we trust [3237.24] Jack: You know [3238.84] Jack: The party went on [3241.24] Jack: And then the letter says thank you [3243.4] Stephen: Oh, no one voted for no one voted for a lot of people these days. That's a trouble [3247.24] Curry: I know we don't vote for prime ministers [3250.2] Stephen: No, we just [3251.64] Stephen: Pull some ranting posh twit [3254.2] Stephen: Clean up their backstory and uh throw the lunatic to the crowds to go and grandstand for a couple of hundred days [3261.72] Stephen: Anyway on on that bombshell [3265.56] Jack: I think that's all we got time for [3269.32] Jack: um [3270.36] Jack: You'll be listed to let's try now [3272.6] Jack: um, we will try and get a guest on somehow we'll try and find someone [3278.12] Jack: and uh [3279.32] Jack: Yeah, we'll sort of like come back and maybe get some topics on the go [3284.28] Jack: But yeah, it's been it's been one of those weeks.
