[13.0] Jack: Massive thank you to… [14.4] Jack: Carlos Campos! [16.0] Jack: Art Faulkner. [17.84] Frank: Sam Dahmer. [19.68] Frank: On with the show. [20.68] Jack: Hello, and welcome to Let's Drone Out. [56.62] Jack: Tonight we are joined by everyone's favourite curry kitten, the man with the moustache. [68.14] Jack: And the lady with the he-wing and the sacrificial screwdriver, Caroline, you are our guest for [78.14] Jack: tonight. [79.14] Jack: Or maybe you might want to join the ranks of this ******* joke, this is bad enough that [85.54] Jack: you watch it, you're subjected to it. [88.54] Jack: I really want to know what the sacrificial screwdriver is, curry, will you please, or [93.38] Jack: Caroline? [94.38] Jack: I don't know, yeah, it's your video. [96.62] Curry: Can you show… [97.62] Curry: Well, Caroline should explain. [98.62] Jack: Yeah. [99.62] Stephen: Well, when you noticed Caroline leaving the chat so much last time, we thought it was [103.74] Stephen: only fair and proper to get her on the nose. [106.26] Jack: It almost has got curry to man-splain. [110.06] Jack: It can't explain more than all of this combined. [115.02] Caroline: If you want to cut a channel, you heat it up and you just melt the channel you need. [121.3] Jack: I'd melt the screwdriver, it would just melt out of a handle and then inch straight into [125.54] Jack: my crotch. [126.54] Jack: I've already burnt myself, look at that, that's horrible, isn't it, that is a gross [130.22] Jack: thumb. [132.22] Curry: No, and I pick this up as a great tip because previously on my wings, I would always have [137.58] Curry: to cut a line with a scalpel, another line close to it, and then I'd jam my wires in. [143.22] Curry: I'd get them in eventually, but cutting a decent sized channel is much more useful, [148.58] Curry: I think, on a wing like that. [151.78] Stephen: I went so far as to buy a Dremel routing tool, which I've got around here somewhere in my [155.66] Stephen: just colossal piles of brat. [158.06] Stephen: I went back there as a Dremel routing tool for that purpose. [162.98] Jack: I bought a tile cutter adapter thing for a Dremel, but I've not been brave enough to [178.46] Jack: use it, the Dick Ripper 3000, maybe I should give it a go. [184.58] Stephen: You sound like someone who needs a leather apron, I just imagine there are lots of things [188.26] Stephen: that Jack does, he probably wants, or maybe some kind of bomb diffusal outfit. [192.34] Jack: Do you want to see how much of a nonce I look in my safety goggles? [199.18] Stephen: Go ahead. [200.18] Stephen: Caroline, so your sacrificial screwdriver, how do you heat it up that it's hot enough [204.42] Stephen: to do the job, not so hot that it destroys the wing or the metal bit falls out the plastic [209.58] Stephen: handle? [210.58] Stephen: Quite stylish, Jack. [212.58] Stephen: How do you know when it's the right temperature? [216.1] Caroline: It's called guessing, fire on hand, because you only heat the tip. [223.54] Caroline: If you only heat the tip, then the handle doesn't get hot enough to melt the handle. [229.94] Jack: Or buy a wooden handled screwdriver, it might give you a freebie to even get those. [235.86] Caroline: It's the official screwdriver that came in the kit, so that will do. [243.54] Stephen: So Jack, for our audio listeners as well, is also sporting a pair of very stylish safety [247.74] Stephen: glasses. [248.74] Jack: Yeah, by Boiler, I think they're French. [254.58] Stephen: They do snowboarding glasses and things, don't they? [257.3] Stephen: I've got no idea. [258.74] Stephen: Yeah, they do goggles for winter sports, I think. [261.9] Stephen: So might we infer that you're about to do something risky and perhaps involving fire [267.3] Stephen: for our listeners? [268.3] Stephen: No. [269.3] Jack: I can get the old woofler out wherever that's gone. [273.98] Stephen: He's never used safety goggles in the past. [276.18] Stephen: Well, yeah, he wears glasses anyway. [279.3] Caroline: I have one of those fireworks downstairs. [282.58] Stephen: I have just the one. [287.54] Stephen: Emergency fire. [288.54] Stephen: Well, we'll wait until we get our accounts in order before we ask anyone to use an emergency [292.1] Stephen: firework. [295.14] Stephen: Things are on a cessation until we figure out what we're supposed to do to keep the [298.98] Stephen: tax man happy. [301.98] Stephen: Don't say that out loud. [307.1] Stephen: That's why we are behaving ourselves. [309.74] Jack: Yeah, I know. [310.74] Stephen: Yeah, sure. [311.74] Jack: We're not accepting any models. [313.74] Jack: Yeah, no longer. [316.94] Jack: I found the woofler. [317.94] Jack: Do you want me to go get some woofle juice? [321.14] Jack: Oh, yeah. [322.14] Stephen: Do the woofle juice. [323.14] Stephen: Do the woofle juice. [324.14] Stephen: I heard this big life had a woofle explanatory video this week. [327.66] Jack: Yeah, yeah, that's where it came from. [331.06] Jack: I think it worked best with hydrogen. [334.5] Jack: Most things do. [335.62] Jack: Even more deadly than it already doesn't need to be. [339.54] Caroline: But that way, the bubbles, because they're lighter, they'll go up and you get a nice [343.26] Caroline: big column. [344.26] Caroline: They won't flop over. [345.26] Stephen: So you can get a nice column of bubbles. [348.26] Stephen: I think this is detergent, like we could see what foams best. [353.7] Stephen: I think we haven't really strayed too far from the default. [357.5] Stephen: We could probably experiment a little bit with Mr. Woofler. [361.86] Curry: While Jack's finding the woofle juice, shall I give, I've got a lovely film story concerning [368.14] Curry: RC that ultimately by my friend Bob, who lives in Florida, and he said he saw this on the [373.94] Curry: news, which I thought was sweet. [375.84] Curry: Because we always talk about RC's bad and they're all going to get us and it kills babies [381.12] Curry: all the time and stuff. [382.12] Curry: Invariably. [383.12] Curry: Here's a good story. [384.12] Curry: So this is the setup. [385.68] Curry: There was this man and woman, high school sweethearts, somewhere in Indiana, and they [391.76] Curry: literally go their separate ways at high school graduation. [395.54] Curry: He goes off into the military. [397.36] Curry: She does something somewhere else. [398.64] Curry: They both have the families, get married, they have children, et cetera, et cetera. [403.96] Curry: 50 years on, the guy is now 72. [407.4] Curry: He's obviously retired. [408.6] Curry: He's back in Indiana and he's an RC plane flyer. [412.44] Curry: He was flying his RC plane, little polystyrene model, and he lost it. [417.6] Curry: Of course, my first thing would say was, where's your lost model beeper? [421.04] Curry: You should have got that back. [422.04] Curry: But he did one good thing. [423.68] Curry: He wrote his phone number on the wing. [427.6] Curry: A couple of months later, he gets a phone call from a lady who said her granddaughter [431.68] Curry: and great granddaughters found this plane, and this was the number it had on it, and [435.8] Curry: is it yours? [437.12] Curry: It turned out, after they talked to each other, that this is the man and his high school sweetheart, [443.88] Curry: and suddenly they're back together because of an unseen mishap. [449.72] Curry: I don't know if this is luck would have it, but somewhat poignantly, they both lost their [453.96] Curry: respective partners within a month of each other about a year and a half previously. [458.72] Curry: It's like, oh, we're both free and single. [461.12] Curry: So they got back together. [462.12] Caroline: The partners were blasting over the wood, and then they lost them, and they didn't have [466.88] Caroline: a lost model beeper. [467.88] Curry: I probably would need a script for that one. [472.24] Curry: But that's my feel-good story. [473.76] Curry: I thought that was very sweet. [477.52] Curry: Interesting coincidence as well. [480.12] Curry: And is Jack still looking? [482.16] Curry: I will share this as well, just quickly, because we asked a very, very quick comment last week [490.96] Curry: was about what's your favorite video from the week, and I couldn't find it. [496.72] Curry: And then I looked for it earlier, and then I found a follow-up video they did. [503.92] Curry: And it's possibly one of the ones I talked about previously, if I just find this one [508.8] Curry: here. [510.04] Curry: And it is, let's just mute this quickly. [512.96] Caroline: Oh, they're good. [513.96] Caroline: That was good. [514.96] Curry: It's this one. [515.96] Curry: This is by a group called The Crew, who do this fantastic close proximity chasing on [523.84] Caroline: a wing. [524.84] Caroline: Do you want to do something? [525.84] Caroline: Michael Scott Roo or something? [526.84] Curry: Yeah. [527.84] Curry: The... [528.84] Curry: Oops. [529.84] Curry: It's just gone funny. [530.84] Curry: Yeah. [531.84] Curry: That's him. [532.84] Curry: And the guy flying it, I just wanted to point out, because it's only got like 400 views [536.72] Curry: or something. [537.72] Curry: But I think the piloting skills in this one is fantastic, because you get so much turbulence [543.8] Curry: on these wings, especially flying them low and through stuff. [547.16] Curry: And this is absolutely sort of no-fear stuff. [549.64] Curry: He's going through... [550.64] Stephen: There's one where he's flying through buildings, and he goes under some little tunnels, and [554.8] Stephen: he's actually being followed by a quad. [556.8] Stephen: Yeah. [557.8] Curry: Yeah. [558.8] Curry: So yeah, you follow it for the quad for the nice stable footage. [561.64] Curry: But he's going so low, and he's just going straight through buildings and stuff. [566.56] Caroline: You can see it's like a circuit they do, so they know the course exactly. [571.48] Curry: Yeah. [572.48] Curry: Yeah. [574.16] Curry: Yeah, you've got it. [575.16] Curry: And this is how I used to fly. [576.76] Curry: When I did chase flights with my friend, we always used to come up with a circuit, and [579.84] Curry: we'd fly it and fly it, and get faster and faster. [582.36] Curry: This bit, this bit. [583.36] Curry: And that's just... [584.36] Curry: That bit's amazing. [585.36] Curry: And he does it completely then at night as well. [589.0] Curry: And this is called a right-wing Hawkmoth. [592.64] Curry: So the actual wing itself is basically like a big load of holes, all those holes in there. [599.36] Curry: You can basically fill with LEDs and make it completely light up during the night. [604.76] Curry: I think it's fantastic. [605.76] Curry: It does look wonderful. [606.76] Caroline: There's another one he did. [607.76] Stephen: There's another flight it's casting on the road. [608.76] Caroline: It's great. [609.76] Caroline: Yeah. [610.76] Caroline: There was another one he did where part of the circuit is actually flying down through [613.44] Caroline: the entrance of basically a shopping mall. [617.52] Caroline: So right down the side of it. [619.6] Stephen: Yeah. [620.6] Caroline: Yeah, that's what the reality is. [623.64] Caroline: Ended up with a crash into it, but it was worth it. [626.52] Curry: I think so. [627.6] Curry: I'd love to. [628.92] Curry: I'd love to see some of the DVR from this to see how it looks from the wing point of [632.4] Curry: view. [633.4] Curry: I do notice they're going at dusk and at night and that's pretty much the best time of day [639.0] Curry: you're going to get because the wind tends to drop right down at that time and you get [642.52] Curry: a really nice piece of the world. [645.48] Caroline: And the LEDs look good. [647.48] Curry: And the LEDs are fantastic. [649.48] Curry: I can't find my propellant. [652.0] Curry: The back that looks like rockets. [653.0] Curry: That's okay. [654.0] Curry: You can't find it. [655.0] Jack: I can't find the propellant. [657.96] Jack: No. [659.96] Jack: You got any hydrogen? [661.96] Stephen: No. [662.96] Stephen: You don't. [663.96] Caroline: Two electrodes. [664.96] Caroline: Power. [665.96] Stephen: I was going to go in videos of the week. [668.88] Stephen: The one that caught my attention was from Alka Motors. [671.84] Stephen: We're all familiar with ESC beeps, but this guy actually managed to program 8-bit audio. [679.6] Stephen: He programmed it so that ESC speaks and says one, two, three, four. [685.0] Stephen: Yeah. [687.0] Stephen: Pretty neat. [688.0] Stephen: Yeah, so apparently the reason it's not used a lot is because there's not enough space [691.0] Stephen: to store audio in most of the ESCs, you only get like one second, but because the chip [698.12] Stephen: shortage people are moving to different chips, so there might be enough space to actually [701.68] Stephen: store like musing full-on audio clips on ESCs soon. [705.12] Stephen: I think that'd be a good call. [707.76] Caroline: That's useful. [708.76] Stephen: Yeah, totally useless. [710.84] Stephen: But I want to see Amiga trackers come back reinvented with a four-note polyphony on electronic [717.12] Stephen: speed controllers. [718.12] Caroline: That one does the Star Wars entrance, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo. [725.12] Caroline: Yeah, that's funny. [726.12] Caroline: And each of the motors has a different track. [728.96] Curry: I don't know. [731.04] Curry: Called me old-fashioned, but I'm pretty happy with just the doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, [735.36] Curry: and count for the things. [736.8] Curry: Only because, like, as fun and cool as it is to play music, it's like, okay, I'll just [741.84] Curry: have to wait for the track to be over before I can take off. [744.32] Stephen: I did have a problem on the bench where I was troubleshooting stuff and it was spending [748.2] Stephen: so long playing, I just had to change the melody so I could actually troubleshoot the [751.68] Stephen: problem without waiting for the start-up tune to finish playing. [756.36] Stephen: I was a bit dumb. [757.36] Caroline: You've been flying this week. [759.32] Caroline: I haven't. [760.32] Stephen: A little bit. [761.48] Stephen: You haven't a little bit. [763.0] Caroline: Not this week. [764.0] Caroline: Not me. [765.0] Caroline: What did you manage here? [767.04] Caroline: Not this week. [768.04] Caroline: That's the thing I couldn't buy this week. [770.0] Stephen: Easily. [771.0] Stephen: I just went out to the park and flew. [774.4] Stephen: Oh. [775.4] Jack: Micro. [776.4] Jack: Yeah. [777.4] Stephen: Just a little 3S jobbie. [779.0] Stephen: I took a couple of quads out and had a little rep around. [782.32] Jack: Nice. [783.32] Stephen: All right. [784.32] Stephen: Yeah. [785.32] Stephen: When the sun was out for a brief spell, got out lunch on Monday. [788.24] Jack: Yeah. [789.24] Jack: It was a nice day today, but it was a little bit on the gusty side. [793.16] Jack: It was a bit windy. [794.92] Curry: I've still been stuck in bathroom hell this week. [798.72] Curry: It's literally finished today. [800.72] Curry: We have signed off and said we accept that the bathroom is finished. [804.6] Curry: I will no longer have to stay in the house and communicate with bathroom accessories [811.2] Curry: and which ways they want tiles up and down and things. [814.84] Jack: I can't think of anything worse for you. [817.24] Jack: Yeah. [818.24] Curry: It was not good. [819.96] Stephen: Yeah. [820.96] Stephen: I didn't find much actual use for ESC tunes, but there was one use I did find after petitioning [826.32] Stephen: the guy who did Bluejay. [827.72] Stephen: He did this PR where it would play the startup melody if you set the beacon to a specific [833.72] Stephen: value. [835.04] Stephen: Then I loaded up Rick Astley as the startup tune and you could land in front of people [840.16] Stephen: and flip the beeper on and then Rick roll them and then take off and fly away. [844.48] Stephen: Oh, man. [845.48] Caroline: That's awesome. [847.08] Caroline: That is the best use of it. [850.52] Caroline: That was the only use. [855.52] Jack: I assume you can't assign like a couple of tracks to it so you could answer questions [861.68] Jack: like yes, no, and like communicate because obviously you've got audio on and you've got [870.0] Stephen: five. [871.56] Stephen: You've got five tones you can pick from. [873.64] Stephen: So technically you could do it if you only had enough storage space, but it just becomes [878.12] Stephen: like, why the hell am I implementing this if you talk to the ESC authors, developers? [886.0] Stephen: Yeah, that's more important things they've got to worry about. [889.16] Curry: Maybe you should just strap like a walkie talkie to it and sort of shout at people. [895.24] Jack: Another frequency you're taking up. [898.36] Curry: Yeah, you just get a radio on like 433. [902.08] Curry: There's a joke is around just say run faster, that sort of thing. [906.92] Stephen: But do you remember when radio's audio first appeared and radios didn't come with like [912.32] Stephen: proper speakers, they just had a beeper instead of audio playback. [915.76] Stephen: What for Morse code? [918.4] Stephen: No, I mean, just beeps when it turns on and yeah, like the beeps instead of speaking. [923.92] Curry: Well, the good old 9x did that. [926.0] Curry: And I remember having beeps for loss of telemetry. [929.6] Curry: And then my fat shark started beeping. [931.44] Curry: And I was like, hang on, I'm trying to count the beeps here. [933.72] Curry: And there's too many going on to try and figure out what's going on. [936.36] Stephen: So there is a board that you can get, which is used to like add audio playback to radios [941.56] Stephen: that don't have audio. [942.84] Stephen: And it's a little microcontroller with an SD card and a speaker output. [947.52] Stephen: And you can connect it to an amplifier. [949.16] Stephen: Some of them come with amplifiers like that job. [952.24] Stephen: And you can add audio to it. [953.44] Stephen: And I've got one of these as a standalone and I've got it. [956.24] Stephen: So when I set power to it, it just starts playing the audio clip. [959.28] Stephen: So I thought about putting one of them on a quad and put it to like a pin I.O. [962.84] Stephen: or like a servo output. [964.68] Stephen: And you could toggle a speaker based on that. [969.4] Jack: I don't know. [970.04] Jack: It might be funny to like get a stick extended on the front of your drone with like a [975.16] Jack: mousebar on it and then chase around joggers with the thing like, come on, yeah, yeah. [983.48] Jack: It would be quite funny. [985.0] Jack: I wrote a riots next project episode drone with megaphone. [989.08] Jack: I know. [989.56] Caroline: The Fimi X8 2022 version actually has a speaker. [995.64] Caroline: You can use your phone and talk to it and it will relay it to the drone. [1000.92] Stephen: That's nice. [1002.28] Stephen: That's asking for a view. [1003.48] Stephen: Really pointless. [1006.36] Stephen: Can you hear what the other people are saying, though? [1008.04] Stephen: You wouldn't be able to hear it. [1010.0] Caroline: Yes, it's a two way. [1012.52] Caroline: So, Stephen, snap. [1014.4] Stephen: Oh, yeah. [1015.28] Stephen: Oh, yeah. [1017.24] Stephen: You got the lovely yellow radio. [1018.76] Stephen: The yellow. [1019.68] Stephen: So what's my favorite go to micro ages ago? [1022.56] Stephen: I built this using a pickle frame from let drone club and it's got a really old nameless [1030.28] Stephen: RC AIO, one of the really early ones that doesn't enter DFU mode properly. [1036.44] Stephen: Um, and, and, and 1104 motors to be an oddball that emacs have on props. [1041.32] Stephen: And I love flying it and it, it seems to be indestructible touch word, you know, I'm [1045.44] Stephen: sure it isn't, but that's fun to fly. [1047.84] Stephen: But the camera's a bit bobbins. [1049.2] Stephen: My latest creation, which I've been doing most flying on is this alpha one one five [1055.08] Stephen: cheapo frame from Bangor rally express that I've managed to get a little GPS unit mounted [1060.76] Stephen: on the front. [1061.24] Stephen: So it looks just like a smaller version of a five inch and it's got a little retail in [1064.88] Stephen: there. [1065.44] Stephen: Cadex retail and it's got 12 oh two point five motors. [1069.76] Stephen: Um, yeah. [1070.48] Stephen: And then the tiniest GPS receiver and everything in there. [1073.2] Stephen: So that's my go to at the moment because I keep telling myself that I'm going to test [1077.56] Stephen: GPS rescue, except whenever I get to the field, I just think, ah, screw it. [1082.24] Stephen: And GPS takes too long to lock onto the satellite. [1084.48] Stephen: So I just go and fly and then I never get around to testing GPS. [1088.64] Curry: What sort of GPS is that? [1089.68] Curry: Like a beat to 180 or something? [1092.04] Stephen: Yeah, no, it's way smaller. [1093.72] Stephen: So you don't appreciate the scale of this frame. [1095.72] Stephen: And this is that's a that's 115 mil frame is tiny. [1100.84] Stephen: So that is not a beat and 180 that is a 12 millimeter active antenna. [1105.72] Stephen: So the beta one eighties are 23 mil antenna. [1108.36] Stephen: That's like a quarter of the size and the 180 and it's got a separate. [1112.56] Stephen: It's got a separate PCB that does the GPS nuzzle nuzzled up there by the camera. [1118.88] Stephen: It's not picking up particularly well, but there's a board at the front of the quad on the [1122.68] Stephen: left hand side of that image, which is the actual GPS PCB. [1126.24] Stephen: And it's got a separate active antenna and it works. [1129.52] Stephen: I managed to get eight satellites inside, but I've had to screw around a lot to try [1135.0] Stephen: and get a clean signal, which has contributed to my inability to test GPS rescue. [1142.38] Jack: Do you need to do it, man? [1143.74] Jack: Do you need to be brave? [1146.46] Stephen: Yeah, there's been so much work put into it. [1149.62] Stephen: I've got to test it. [1150.54] Stephen: It's just when you get out to the field and you're like, oh, it's the weather's nice. [1153.82] Stephen: And I should test this thing. [1155.22] Stephen: And then you just like realize that you've ripped two batteries and you've run out of time. [1160.1] Stephen: You didn't get around to testing things. [1161.5] Stephen: You're enjoying yourself, which is the whole point of it. [1164.9] Caroline: Was it you, Wayne, that was wrapping the cables in tin foil and putting grounds on them and everything? [1172.18] Curry: Yeah, I had, I had this. [1176.3] Curry: What was it? [1176.98] Curry: It was not my, no, no, it was, it was on the little, I forgot what [1183.74] Curry: the name of the thing is now. [1184.74] Curry: Just want to pick out that. [1186.58] Curry: Yeah, I changed over the the flight controller to this [1194.14] Curry: Rush FPV one and it just wiped the satellite reception out completely. [1199.38] Curry: And I watched a bunch of videos about like this. [1202.3] Curry: I've had it before, you know, you've had to move the antenna around and stuff, [1205.98] Curry: but someone said about like wrapping it, not just wrapping a cup of foil, [1209.38] Curry: but then grounding the cup of foil and soldering in. [1214.02] Curry: And that worked, it sounded, I was like, I don't believe this. [1218.1] Curry: I did it. [1218.58] Curry: Apparently, A-Shield did it. [1219.98] Jack: Yeah. [1220.46] Curry: I put it out and it works perfectly. [1222.74] Curry: It's like, wow, I am a believer. [1225.38] Curry: It worked for me. [1226.82] Curry: So yeah, I did it and it worked. [1228.26] Curry: So you should try it. [1230.74] Curry: Apparently, the grounding is the important thing. [1234.1] Jack: Now, you know, you have little faith. [1237.66] Jack: How how was the I watched your E LRS five channel update set up rig. [1247.18] Jack: I really enjoyed your test rig. [1249.14] Jack: Curry, five servers, but I found five, five servers on a board. [1259.1] Jack: That'll do that'll do that'll do that was classy. [1263.66] Curry: That was and as Stephen put it, if you wanted to do something bigger, [1268.82] Curry: you can just put two receivers on and remap all the channels. [1273.1] Curry: But I think I think you'd want to do that if you're really desperate to fly, [1277.26] Curry: because I still think although it's pretty bomb proof, [1280.5] Curry: putting two receivers on a plane equals I'm adding complexity to it [1284.22] Curry: when I don't need to when most most things won't need it. [1288.02] Curry: Because if you're building a new plane, you're going to have I now [1290.58] Curry: and then you can just use a regular receiver and CRS. [1293.18] Curry: It's only if you've got some legacy planes looking at you, mini talent, [1297.26] Curry: which happens to have a vector on it. [1300.42] Stephen: Yeah. And you're like, I've got one server left and no server extensions. [1304.38] Stephen: How do I solve this? [1305.74] Curry: That's it. But I really like the vector autopilot. [1309.18] Curry: It's a really nice system, which was by Eagle Eagle Tree. [1313.22] Curry: You don't exist. Yeah, don't go on. [1315.9] Curry: That was not a good tree. [1318.18] Curry: Yeah, it was. [1318.94] Curry: Was it not? [1320.86] Curry: I think it was. [1321.78] Curry: Pretty sure it was. [1323.14] Caroline: Mm hmm. [1325.53] Curry: Eagle Tree. [1326.33] Curry: Just on that. [1327.61] Stephen: What's an Eagle Tree? Look it up. [1329.29] Stephen: I'm showing my life. [1330.05] Stephen: The Eagle Tree was the company that made the dots. [1332.41] Stephen: It's my fly dream. [1333.89] Stephen: You did the vector. [1336.25] Caroline: The vector was my fly dream. [1338.77] Curry: They made one for the my fly dream. [1340.73] Curry: Literally called the my fly dream AP. [1342.73] Caroline: They're very similar, weren't they? [1345.05] Stephen: And color. [1346.05] Stephen: The ones that did like auto landing, like show you the graphics of the runway. [1350.97] Curry: I had the I've got. [1352.61] Curry: Oh, it's the vector. [1354.41] Curry: And it was it was quite it's quite different. [1356.57] Curry: And it was very ugly as an OSD, but people swore by them [1360.13] Curry: about being really, really good for autopilots. [1362.69] Curry: This this is all like doesn't come up anymore. [1365.53] Curry: I know back like eight, nine years ago before the likes of INAV, [1369.77] Curry: you used to have like different manufacturers [1372.13] Curry: coming out with different sort of autopilots for things. [1374.97] Curry: Eagle Tree, Eagle Eyes. [1376.85] Curry: Yeah, that's the Eagle Eyes. [1378.53] Curry: This this was one of the de facto things for antenna tracking. [1383.37] Curry: Are you using it for antenna tracking? [1384.73] Curry: Oh, it's a bloody. [1387.29] Jack: What is that? [1387.97] Jack: VIS sports as well. [1389.93] Jack: Yeah, it's a serious antenna setup. [1392.05] Jack: Yeah, I get thicker on it and everything. [1394.69] Caroline: Are those the antennas on the back of it? [1397.25] Caroline: That's what these are the receivers. [1400.37] Caroline: I was looking at the other side. [1401.97] Stephen: This is one point to the patch antenna crosshair. [1406.21] Stephen: Yeah. [1407.57] Caroline: And then the other ones on the on the Omni. [1412.13] Caroline: They both go into the vector, which determines the best signal. [1417.69] Stephen: Wow, that's a lot of hardware. [1420.85] Jack: No, yeah, diversity. [1422.69] Jack: Well, they was already made RC receivers [1426.73] Jack: where they had to put some sort of filter in them or something. [1430.33] Jack: So I mean, they cost [1432.13] Caroline: another good receivers, no work just as well. [1437.85] Jack: Yeah, I guess a bit heavy on the goggles. [1440.77] Caroline: Yeah. Well, what is 1.3 gigahertz? [1446.01] Curry: There's only a few things I did actually do a 1.3 [1449.37] Curry: internal receiver. [1450.85] Curry: Mm hmm. [1452.77] Curry: Yeah, but how good is that going to be? [1454.33] Curry: Looking at two coat hangers on the top of your goggles [1458.37] Curry: effectively, who would it look like? [1460.01] Stephen: But as a gift on the ELS forums of a guy doing network outs, [1464.41] Stephen: it instantly makes me think of that when people talk about the one point [1467.29] Stephen: three gig set ups, you know, working out that neck muscle. [1470.53] Curry: Such such amazing range on it, though. [1473.25] Curry: It's like that that box can go for about what, 50 kilometers? [1477.29] Curry: If you say that could go that far. [1480.57] Stephen: I feel right about really close and not enough bandwidth [1483.97] Stephen: to actually do like an NTSC or PAL signal, though. [1487.01] Caroline: You've oh, yeah, full power signal. [1490.69] Stephen: We're saying, I mean, the actual bandwidth that you get [1493.25] Stephen: like isn't enough to convey like a normal amount of [1497.77] Stephen: color. Really? [1499.77] Caroline: Yeah, it's a picture. [1501.21] Stephen: Well, I mean, you get something that is official is a PAL signal out the other end. [1506.21] Stephen: I just thought you had to like sacrifice the actual line. [1511.57] Stephen: No, the line sort of. [1514.69] Stephen: Now I just run normal camera for it. [1517.01] Caroline: I get an excellent picture. [1519.09] Caroline: OK, OK. [1521.45] Curry: Yeah, I think that's what you used to fly quite a lot on analog. [1523.81] Curry: If you just go back on Caroline's channel and check the DVR. [1527.29] Curry: It's pretty nice. [1528.65] Curry: In the olden days, there was a little bit more of a difference [1531.57] Curry: when you looked at five point eight versus one point two, one point three. [1535.09] Curry: But it's it's harder to tell now, especially with these cameras. [1539.05] Jack: And it's the thing is with five point eight is it's just the switching, [1543.61] Jack: isn't that the of the frequency? [1545.93] Jack: And that's why they burn so red hot. [1548.53] Jack: I believe I'm not 100 percent sure. [1552.53] Caroline: Well, it's also that one point three is just [1555.89] Caroline: longer wavelength. [1556.89] Caroline: It travels better. [1558.49] Jack: Yeah. [1559.49] Caroline: Four times the distance on the same power. [1562.01] Jack: Yeah. And better penetration longer. [1565.45] Caroline: Yeah. Hugs, curves and hills. [1569.17] Caroline: So you can go around the hill a little bit. [1574.25] Caroline: Wow. So you don't feel safe when you can't come up to a hill [1578.61] Stephen: as much unless you go backwards. [1581.09] Stephen: Of course, exactly. [1582.53] Stephen: We should go back out on you. [1584.17] Curry: Yeah, that's what Jack does. [1586.97] Curry: Reversing into a hill, that's his specialty. [1589.73] Jack: Yeah, that's it. [1592.25] Jack: With a wing next, I just got to figure out how to do that. [1597.29] Jack: Caroline, how how did you get into the hobby originally? [1600.73] Caroline: God, many years ago, I taught myself [1604.13] Caroline: I decided I wanted to fly. [1606.01] Caroline: I was like flying and my kids were young. [1610.61] Caroline: So I bought a multiplex [1614.65] Caroline: cup, not the fun cup, but the cup [1618.05] Caroline: and flew it on nickel metal hydride batteries. [1621.81] Caroline: Took myself to fly using that. [1624.81] Caroline: Then gave it up for the family. [1627.09] Caroline: And now I'm older. [1629.85] Stephen: I need to explain instead. [1631.13] Caroline: I can pose my own. [1632.01] Caroline: So I thought, well, I'm going back to it. [1634.53] Caroline: Oh, excellent. [1636.45] Jack: Nickel metal hydride, people. [1638.41] Jack: That's what old drill batteries and cordless phones used. [1644.33] Caroline: I moved on from Nikads to the metal hydride. [1648.01] Stephen: What was it like going from nickel metal hydride [1651.25] Stephen: to like the lipo era when everything is? [1654.33] Stephen: Oh, it's completely different. Yeah. [1656.41] Jack: Yeah. [1657.05] Jack: Doesn't weigh as much. [1658.97] Jack: Just instant draw power. [1661.45] Jack: You know, you can just loop the loop whenever you want. [1664.73] Stephen: Was it a struggle to get takeoff [1666.81] Stephen: and you really had to worry about the launches a lot [1669.17] Stephen: if you didn't have the raw power? [1672.21] Caroline: Nothing went fast, right? [1675.85] Caroline: The best one I had was I had a Mustang that I built [1680.13] Caroline: and that was running on seven, seven S. [1685.17] Caroline: Member 1.2 Volta S. Right. OK. [1690.49] Caroline: And that used to fly quite well. [1692.33] Caroline: I'd get about five minutes flight on that. [1695.41] Stephen: 1.2 by seven. So that's. [1697.29] Caroline: Was it all brushed as well? [1700.01] Caroline: That was brushed motor. Yeah. [1701.97] Jack: Wow. That's what I mean. [1703.61] Jack: It is prehistoric with gearing and everything. [1707.61] Stephen: And how long did it take you to charge the packs as well? [1710.01] Stephen: Because they're really slow on their nickel metal. [1711.73] Caroline: You could charge them at 2C. [1714.69] Caroline: So it took a while. [1717.96] Curry: Oh, my God. Don't worry. [1720.0] Curry: You missed out the nitro era, though. [1722.4] Caroline: I never went nitro. [1724.0] Caroline: Well, when I was really, really, really young, [1727.16] Caroline: I managed to save up pocket money. [1729.84] Caroline: And my brother and I, we bought a [1733.52] Caroline: control line [1737.08] Caroline: Cox's 0.49 Cox. [1740.2] Caroline: It had to be a whole hurricane. [1742.84] Caroline: Got that going. [1744.08] Caroline: One loop crash destroyed. [1746.28] Caroline: It was awful. That was it. [1747.96] Caroline: And that was it. Never again. [1751.04] Curry: You think control? [1752.16] Curry: I mean, control line looks easy because the effect [1754.68] Curry: if you just do things on the screen, but it could go anywhere. [1757.12] Caroline: Couldn't I get these things were plastic models [1761.4] Caroline: with a 0.49 cc global motor. [1765.36] Caroline: They were so underpowered. [1767.36] Caroline: You were lucky if you even got it moving. [1771.36] Curry: And then the whole thing just exploded in a share of plastic. [1775.28] Caroline: Mm hmm. That was it. [1776.72] Caroline: That was the end of it. [1778.6] Stephen: Oh, the excitement. [1781.96] Caroline: Yeah, that lava put me off. [1785.68] Stephen: Yeah, I'm a lot of building. [1787.92] Stephen: I'm not much flying. [1789.04] Caroline: Well, there wasn't any building. [1790.28] Caroline: It was just by it. [1791.28] Caroline: It was a there was a little shop down Catherine Road. [1794.84] Caroline: I saw it in the window. [1795.88] Caroline: I thought, yeah, we're going to have that. [1799.28] Caroline: And, you know, when I must have been 12, [1803.72] Stephen: what was the first thing to get you back into the new era of flying? [1808.12] Caroline: Oh, back into what into? [1810.52] Caroline: Yeah, life hose and everything. [1811.92] Caroline: Surgeons. That was a [1815.92] Caroline: a Mustang again, but it was [1820.04] Caroline: a flight test to build it. [1822.84] Caroline: I ran it on 3S. [1827.4] Caroline: Little foam board Mustang, just a little mini one. [1829.96] Caroline: So it was only about that big, the tiny series like the mini ones. [1835.0] Caroline: Yeah. Mm hmm. [1837.56] Stephen: So what did it feel like to get back into the hobby after that, [1840.04] Stephen: then get to play in the air or just see it flying was amazing. [1844.08] Caroline: In fact, for the summer flu, it wasn't me flying it because I didn't trust myself. [1851.6] Caroline: I can't remember. [1852.24] Caroline: I think I bought I made the the cub [1856.44] Caroline: foam flight test. [1858.6] Caroline: In fact, there's a video of the very first flight of the flight test [1861.8] Caroline: cub on my channel. [1864.72] Caroline: It took off, it flew up, it disappeared. [1868.4] Caroline: That was it. I never found it again. [1871.72] Jack: No way. Yeah. [1874.84] Jack: I remember when their podcast used to be so nice. [1878.72] Jack: Yeah. And we were talking about gliders and like they they flew [1884.88] Jack: and there was two exactly the same flying coming in for a perfect land. [1889.68] Jack: And then the other guy walked to the same one. [1892.36] Jack: They realized they'd be looking at the wrong flying, flying the wrong plane. [1898.52] Jack: I was like, oh, my God. [1901.28] Jack: I live in fear of that. [1902.72] Jack: But you never found the cup ever again. [1905.92] Caroline: Just disappear. [1906.72] Caroline: Now, I made it up in the end, I built another one. [1910.6] Caroline: I did such a good job on it as well. It's beautiful. [1915.04] Caroline: I mean, in some ways, it was just flying across. [1919.28] Caroline: And then when I got totally disoriented because it was so far away [1924.88] Caroline: and it went down and up again and gave me hope and disappeared. [1929.32] Caroline: And I walked all around the road so I could never find it. [1933.2] Curry: Oh, yeah. Claimed by the trees. [1935.04] Curry: I'd still class as success because it was flying. [1937.24] Curry: And like me and my first plane having the the alien ones reversed [1941.2] Curry: and just kept kept putting in and putting in the turn. [1944.48] Curry: And it keeps getting worse every time. [1946.16] Curry: For some reason, I worked it out. [1948.44] Frank: This episode was recorded in front of a live online audience, [1951.52] Frank: downloaded and edited to make sense when it played audio only. [1955.04] Frank: Censored to please the iTunes people hosted on the Internet, [1957.96] Frank: forwarded through to your podcast provider, [1959.8] Frank: downloaded, playing on your device and is now playing in your ears. [1963.52] Frank: All thanks to our Patreons. [1965.72] Frank: Consider joining them and you'll also get other online benefits. [1969.08] Frank: Find out more at patreon.com forward slash let's drone out. [1973.64] Curry: So Stephen is someone who's is trying to get into fixed wing. [1979.12] Curry: What's your suggestion for his first guy? [1981.6] Curry: Unless you've already bought one now, Stephen, what's what's your situation? [1985.16] Curry: Oh, I am still the beans. [1988.04] Stephen: So I bought I've been looking at this flying fish thing, [1990.92] Stephen: which is either atom RC or rebranded with a sheen. [1994.0] Stephen: And it's a little twin motor thing. [1996.4] Stephen: And it comes with all the electronics. [1998.44] Stephen: There's an FPV version, but I declined to get the FPV version [2001.92] Stephen: because I think the FPV kit was a bit pants and I've got like loads [2005.84] Stephen: of spare analog stuff, so I'll just pop something in. [2009.64] Stephen: But yeah, I'm going to try that just with a PWM receiver to start with [2014.24] Stephen: and probably quickly move over to to I now and try that. [2020.2] Caroline: Oh, JetEx model, somebody mentioned it. [2022.84] Jack: Yeah, great. I know, John, I. [2025.8] Caroline: Little pills that never lit properly and just went fucked. [2029.36] UNKNOWN: What's that? [2030.52] Jack: There were like little solid propellant. [2032.56] Caroline: You put in a little can, tied it up, and you had a fuse that went through the nozzle. [2036.36] Caroline: It was a little rocket motor refillable. [2041.36] Stephen: I got out when there was sun. [2043.6] Caroline: Nice. Oh, sorry. [2045.28] Stephen: What you say, [2047.16] Stephen: Stephen, in the middle of my head, in the middle of a field, [2050.68] Stephen: not near anyone totally obeying the law, just doing the wide legs. [2055.36] Stephen: So you're like that one fall over stance. [2058.24] Stephen: What's the zero meaning? [2059.56] Curry: What is that? Should that be your ELS? [2063.36] Curry: Yeah, so that's supposed to be a transmit power, [2065.6] Stephen: and I'd left it on hybrid switch mode and it only reports the power [2068.48] Stephen: if you set it to wide switch mode, which I noticed after this. [2071.64] Stephen: And I can't seem to get any GPS satellites, [2075.2] Stephen: which I seem to put down to the not liking running at five volts. [2080.8] Stephen: When I ran it off the four volt five, [2082.72] Stephen: it was really happy and gave me six satellites indoors. [2085.52] Stephen: But for some reason, [2087.16] Stephen: yeah, I just didn't want to run this time. [2089.08] Stephen: I don't know why. [2090.28] Stephen: So maybe do some copper tape. [2092.56] Stephen: It's my unsuccessful GPS test. [2094.76] Stephen: Well, everything is a very wide leg stance. [2098.16] Curry: Are you always thinking I'm going to I'm going to fly between my legs or something? [2102.08] Curry: Well, yeah, I actually did fly between my legs. [2105.88] Stephen: Yeah. Do you play your bass guitar with the same stance? [2109.44] Caroline: Well, I think this is the second flight and because I was doing lots of loops, [2114.44] Stephen: I sometimes feel like I might fall over. [2116.8] Stephen: And so that's my kind of deterrent to not fall over. [2120.44] Stephen: I try and adopt the most stable posture possible. [2123.32] Stephen: So when I do flips, I don't end up lying back on the ground, slightly concussed. [2129.68] Stephen: Yeah, it's the Margaret Thatcher power stance. [2134.24] Jack: So I think that's a good question. [2136.32] Jack: Power stance so that people can imagine her with big [2141.52] Stephen: when we went to the towers, you saw me. [2144.08] Stephen: I was lying down. [2145.76] Stephen: That's the best way to avoid feeling wobbly. [2147.72] Stephen: If I'm flying lots of crazy outro, I just lie down. [2151.12] Jack: He was very literally reclined in the dirt. [2156.88] Curry: I just really care. [2159.4] Curry: I need to issue a challenge for you then. [2161.84] Curry: Everyone could do this if they want to. [2163.56] Curry: They have to fly their acro things [2165.64] Curry: whilst running across the field with their goggles on. [2168.56] Curry: I think that would be a fun experiment. [2170.2] Stephen: I would fucking die. [2171.72] Stephen: No, I'm trying to get people to do that. [2174.8] Curry: We can't even get Tony to stand up, let her walk. [2178.44] Stephen: They were giving up prizes at FPV Drone Fest. [2180.92] Stephen: And the prize was that you had to walk to a flag [2184.08] Stephen: and they set up like six flags across the field. [2186.64] Stephen: You had to get to a flag wearing your goggles. [2189.24] Stephen: And all you would see was an acro drone flying around the field. [2193.12] Stephen: And you had to figure out who you were [2195.2] Stephen: and which direction you needed to head in [2197.08] Stephen: with your goggles on. [2198.92] Stephen: And you didn't even get to point the drone [2200.44] Jack: in the right direction. [2201.28] Jack: Did someone walk into the railing, the fence? [2205.2] Jack: Oh, yeah. [2206.04] Jack: Of the... [2206.88] Jack: Oh, one person, I'm sure. [2207.88] Jack: Yeah, like split their face open. [2211.16] Jack: And, you know, it was like, no, I'm fine. [2213.28] Jack: I don't need A and E. [2215.52] Jack: And like, you know, like, oh, God. [2219.28] Stephen: I started off, walked about three yards and thought, [2222.28] Stephen: I don't want the prize that much. [2224.44] Caroline: Yeah. [2225.68] Stephen: You let the side down. [2226.96] Stephen: I was hoping you would. [2227.8] Stephen: I did, really. [2228.72] Curry: But the problem is, if you do go to A and E, [2231.4] Curry: they asked you what you were doing [2233.48] Curry: at the time of the accident. [2234.52] Curry: And you'd have to tell them. [2236.32] Jack: I'm masturbating a lot. [2238.24] Curry: I cut off my skateboard. [2241.2] Curry: When I'm 49 or something, that's embarrassing enough. [2245.48] Jack: Was this the park incident where you fell off the skateboard? [2249.64] Curry: It was down a hill, but, yeah. [2252.52] Stephen: What is the Botgrinder power stance? [2256.0] Stephen: I don't know. [2258.44] Stephen: I assume it's what you do, Stephen. [2261.0] Caroline: Oh, right. Yeah. [2262.96] Caroline: But he always lands at his feet. [2264.52] Caroline: The star requires a guitar. [2266.2] Caroline: He has to land at his feet. [2269.76] Curry: I should try and land at my feet. [2271.0] Caroline: I think that's fine. [2271.84] Caroline: He likes to sort of land actually on the foot. [2276.2] Curry: Talking of Botgrinder in a handy segue, [2280.76] Curry: did everybody see his video about trying to build a drone park? [2286.48] Stephen: Yes, I think it's a capital idea. [2289.2] Stephen: I admire his enterprise. [2291.04] Curry: I wish I could travel to Philly. [2293.72] Curry: And the idea that you could buy 10 acres [2297.28] Curry: for about $70,000 anywhere around here [2301.12] Curry: would be just staggering. [2303.16] Curry: Because like one positive stamp of space is that much. [2306.92] Stephen: A fairly modest accommodation is able to have the means [2309.72] Stephen: to just go and buy land. [2311.36] Stephen: I mean, Christ, you'd need to be some kind of pony club level [2317.08] Stephen: in this country to be able to go and just buy tracts of land. [2320.92] Stephen: It's just not affordable at all. [2322.6] Stephen: That's pretty incredible. [2323.68] Curry: No, it's completely impossible. [2324.96] Curry: And any land you can buy is is basically swamp. [2328.2] Curry: And you're not allowed to do anything with it. [2329.68] Curry: And there's a right of way to do that. [2331.92] Caroline: That's not just for the land, though. [2333.28] Caroline: That's for the land. [2334.52] Caroline: Some buildings on it and everything else. [2337.2] Caroline: Yeah, it's the whole build. [2339.44] Caroline: He's guessing about 70,000. [2341.6] Caroline: So I don't know what to buy land for. [2343.88] Curry: For you guys in the US and you want a drone park, [2348.44] Curry: check this out. [2349.68] Curry: I hope he can do it. [2350.92] Curry: I think it would be amazing if he can. [2352.52] Curry: And I hope he gets to do what he gets to do. [2355.6] Curry: I just wish we had that sort of thing going on. [2359.96] Curry: There's more anti-drone parks than drone parks around here. [2363.92] Curry: Really? Yeah. [2365.6] Stephen: I saw a sign get posted like my wife was at some park [2369.28] Stephen: and said, no flying in royal parks. [2371.16] Stephen: And she asked why. [2372.52] Stephen: What's the problem with that? [2374.12] Stephen: Those ducks. [2375.72] Stephen: Elf and safety. [2377.08] Stephen: Parents and dog walkers, really, isn't it? [2379.64] Caroline: Well, no dogs off leads in parks. [2384.72] Stephen: Well, yeah. [2385.2] Stephen: And how often do people break that rule, right? [2387.28] Stephen: There's supposed to be half of our local park [2389.42] Stephen: that some dogs are not supposed to be off their leads. [2392.24] Stephen: And, yeah, they always run over to me when I'm flying. [2396.36] Caroline: They can hang them out and try and say, I can disable my drone. [2400.0] Caroline: Can you disable your dog at a distance? [2401.84] Stephen: Yeah, right. [2403.36] Stephen: Yes, of course, it's electric collar. [2404.88] Stephen: It's about to eat on life mode, so it can disable itself. [2407.4] Stephen: It's not careful. [2408.84] Curry: Yeah. [2411.84] Curry: I've certainly had more damage caused to my stuff by dogs [2416.0] Curry: than me cause any damage to anything else. [2418.0] Curry: Most because dog walkers don't have control of their dogs. [2421.52] Curry: I've got my tarpaulin laid out and my stuff on it [2424.52] Curry: because generally it's wet. [2425.88] Curry: And wet dog comes over and starts slobbering all over my stuff. [2431.24] Curry: And then, you know, starts doing weird things to me and whatever. [2438.92] Curry: And some women saying things like, [2442.36] Curry: could you hover your drone over here so I can get my dog excited? [2445.52] Curry: Not that sort of drone. [2446.36] Curry: It doesn't hover very well because I can't see where you are. [2448.88] Stephen: There is one rather amicable lady who quite enjoyed the fact [2451.96] Stephen: that the dog would run after the drone [2454.08] Stephen: and get some exercise without her having to sprint up and down. [2457.88] Stephen: But then it got so obsessed with it that I had to land it. [2461.12] Stephen: And she was like, sorry, sorry, please just don't take off [2464.64] Stephen: until I've managed to get her away because the giant husky is quite strong. [2470.16] Stephen: And she's like, if she really goes for it, she pulls me over. [2473.44] Stephen: So can you just know? [2475.56] Stephen: Oh, yeah, across the field sled dogs, [2479.24] Jack: you know, designed to pull you about like, you know, [2483.76] Curry: I've had the same thing where people love it because their dogs get to run around. [2487.28] Curry: But then I'm out of battery and I have to land, which means I have to go over there, [2491.76] Curry: get the dog away and then come back really quick and just sort of splat down [2495.72] Curry: close to me and grab it quickly because the dog is like 70 miles an hour for whack. [2500.8] Curry: Come in. I'm going to get this thing this time. [2502.28] Stephen: It's landed a leg dive where you like pile it into your own shin [2506.44] Stephen: and just grab it as quickly as possible. [2509.56] Curry: It's tough to answer. [2511.56] Jack: So didn't Andy R.C. get like a Dalmatian knocked him flying? [2519.48] Jack: Sorry, carry on. [2522.12] Stephen: Oh, we can't speak, of course, we'd love to have Andy on to tell us about his [2525.4] Stephen: dogging stories in future, but we'll we'll get to that. [2528.24] Caroline: He does park himself near the bin every time. [2534.01] Stephen: I'd like to point out I did not say that. [2536.45] Stephen: No choice, I'd have thought, given the context. [2539.45] Stephen: Yeah, Jack would like to point out for editorial balance that he did not, in fact, [2543.45] Stephen: mention dogging. [2544.77] Jack: Yeah, no, I was not the one who mentioned that. [2548.61] Jack: So I carry on. [2549.81] Caroline: In general, that's walking your dog. [2555.03] Caroline: That's what I call walking the dog. [2559.03] Stephen: Did anyone hear the Radio 2 Jeremy Vine show bit on the BMFA 100 year anniversary? [2565.91] Stephen: Apparently, Vernon K flies RC planes. [2568.91] Stephen: I don't know who Vernon K is, but it's absolutely a radio one DJ. [2573.43] Jack: He's a guy for the telly, isn't he? [2575.59] UNKNOWN: I've no idea. [2576.75] Stephen: God. [2578.07] Stephen: I don't listen to Radio 1. [2579.27] Stephen: They never played enough heavy metal. [2583.11] Caroline: Vernon K, he's like, yeah, he's pretty much. [2585.99] Caroline: I think he's done quite a long faced guy. [2590.83] Curry: Vernon K, here's some trivia, is married to Tess Daly, [2593.95] Curry: who is on that strictly programmed BBC wall. [2597.43] Caroline: The one that stands like that all the time. [2602.15] Stephen: I need to watch a few episodes of that against my inhalation. [2608.59] Stephen: That's the next build. [2611.23] Stephen: Armiton, oh, a beaver. [2614.51] Stephen: Are you going to shave it? [2616.47] Caroline: I don't know. [2617.07] Caroline: It's certainly not going to be hairy, but look at the instruction. [2621.43] Jack: Smooth. [2622.03] Jack: I think you should put hair on it. [2625.83] Jack: Flock your beaver. [2627.67] Caroline: Actually, come to a frame with instructions. [2630.55] Caroline: I've never seen it before. [2631.91] Stephen: They don't just give you 25 screws and a bunch of assorted bits of garden [2635.27] Stephen: and go garden? [2636.95] Stephen: Good luck. [2637.99] Stephen: Garden? [2639.23] Stephen: Yeah, even the Chris Rosser stuff, which is supposed to be professional, [2643.71] Stephen: doesn't come with instructions. [2645.47] Stephen: I'm pretty sure I've mounted some bits on the last one. [2647.51] Caroline: They tell you what bits you need and everything. [2651.15] Curry: This is pro. [2652.39] Caroline: It's almost worthwhile just for that. [2655.79] Stephen: I know. [2656.31] Stephen: Because I have had some occasions where frames come with a bunch of screws. [2660.19] Stephen: And I'm like, are these to go into the standoffs? [2663.91] Stephen: Or are these supposed to be for the stack? [2666.15] Stephen: And they're quite short for stack screws, [2668.47] Stephen: but they're quite long for standoff screws. [2670.39] Stephen: And they're never just trying. [2672.83] Stephen: And then you get it like, so there's two mil poking out. [2676.39] Stephen: And you realize you've run out of thread. [2678.23] Stephen: Yeah, that was supposed to be for the standoff. [2680.15] Stephen: And you have to take 30 seconds of beaver wrenching. [2686.21] Jack: Oh, John H. I bet that was some serious damage. [2691.73] Jack: Cow trampled my expensive slope saw a few years ago. [2696.93] Curry: Took me about cows. [2697.97] Curry: One ate my cameras because of my little tiny wing. [2700.81] Jack: Yeah, DRGs are the worst. [2703.53] Jack: They're worth loads. [2705.01] Jack: Did you get to see the inside of a cow? [2708.37] Curry: No, he only ate the camera, not the FPV transmitter. [2712.85] Curry: So I didn't really get the whole thing. [2718.93] Caroline: And it wasn't a session five that went right for him. [2722.69] Jack: Yeah. [2723.45] Jack: Last week, we were talking about you and you messaged in the chat [2729.69] Jack: that you were flying near some visit viaduct or something. [2734.05] Jack: And you got shouted at. [2736.37] Jack: Would you like to tell us what they said? [2740.69] Jack: What happened in your defense? [2743.77] Jack: Defend yourself, Caroline. [2745.77] Caroline: Well, I checked the flying app first. [2750.41] Caroline: There was no warnings. [2752.61] Caroline: No notifications. [2755.33] Caroline: Nobody had put up a thing saying, I'm going to fly here. [2758.93] Caroline: So I did. [2761.49] Caroline: And then I flew. [2762.69] Caroline: And then he turns up and goes, have you [2765.73] Caroline: got permission to fly around here? [2768.45] Caroline: It's open. [2770.33] Caroline: Oh, no, no, it's my day today. [2773.37] Caroline: I've been paid to come down here from Aberdeen [2776.33] Caroline: to film this. [2779.21] Caroline: I said, well, it's not on the I can't remember what it's called, [2783.89] Caroline: drone safety, drone advisory app. [2786.73] Caroline: I can never remember the name of it, but UK one. [2790.41] Caroline: And he saw it when he when he had a look at the plane [2796.45] Caroline: and saw how it was like homemade. [2798.81] Caroline: And he was quite impressed. [2802.41] Caroline: And he actually went away smiling in the end. [2804.45] Stephen: But what was he for? [2806.45] Stephen: For sure. [2809.19] Stephen: Part of what was he flying? [2811.23] Caroline: Was it just he was he was flying an inspired to. [2817.07] Stephen: Oh, so he probably wouldn't even know if you were flying. [2820.87] Stephen: Yeah, hmm. [2823.55] Jack: Yeah, drone assist, drone assist. [2826.79] Caroline: That's what motors. [2830.68] Jack: Oh, you want to. [2833.12] Jack: John's question, Caroline, you got to your motors for the frame. [2836.8] Caroline: You want to look at the LRS? [2839.84] Jack: What's the KV? [2840.84] Jack: What's the flight controller? [2842.92] Caroline: The KV, the KV is Zing 2207 1855 KV. [2848.72] Caroline: Six S, six S. [2852.24] Caroline: Yeah, it's flying a member stack F7 stack. [2856.76] Jack: Nice, nice. [2857.72] Jack: I'm right there. [2860.52] Jack: And Zing is nice, or are they just heavy as all balls? [2864.44] Jack: They're so nice, they're not heavy. [2867.08] Caroline: And these ones are titanium shaft. [2870.92] Jack: They just look big. [2872.64] Stephen: They look like the Zing 2207. [2875.8] Caroline: And running a member. [2877.6] Stephen: Normal, they're totally normal motors. [2879.88] Stephen: Member 50M, 4S. [2883.88] Stephen: Particularly unusual. [2885.92] Caroline: I like them, I like the members, they come with nice long leads. [2890.76] Stephen: I'm becoming a little bit more discerning after kind of having a peek behind the [2894.2] Stephen: scenes, because a lot of these manufacturers after spending some time [2899.2] Stephen: trying to figure out what was going on with some of these old products that [2903.64] Stephen: a lot of them don't make their own kit. [2906.04] Stephen: And so you've got people like iFlight and Diatone and T-motor who just kind of buy [2913.04] Stephen: other people's boards and put their names on it. [2918.04] Stephen: And I have had some odd experiences with iFlight stuff where it's just not [2923.08] Stephen: being... it's serviceable, it's just not great. [2927.4] Stephen: Like I've got an iFlight controller, which causes me some grief because all the [2931.56] Stephen: five volt pads, four volt five. [2937.15] Stephen: And they've managed to wire it in a way where if you have GPS connected, it [2942.23] Stephen: stops the board going into DFU mode. [2947.27] Stephen: Because, yeah, it's just not. [2949.27] Stephen: Why? [2951.27] Stephen: Let's see, yeah. [2953.87] Stephen: Ah, yes. [2955.83] Caroline: And it's got the Bluetooth on it as well. [2959.03] Caroline: A Wi-Fi, it's got the Wi-Fi. [2962.03] Caroline: It's a Bluetooth Wi-Fi. [2963.39] Stephen: You know how when you upgrade a flight controller, it goes into this DFU mode? [2967.43] Stephen: I always think of it as don't F up, but it's something else completely, except [2971.59] Jack: I can't remember it. [2972.79] Jack: Device upgrade flash or something, isn't it? [2975.39] Jack: Flash upgrade? [2976.67] Stephen: That sounds much more like a flash mode. [2979.07] Stephen: Yeah, I'm still sure it's don't F up, but anyway, it's the bootloader, basically. [2985.23] Stephen: It goes into that and then it senses commands to tell it to write stuff and it [2990.47] Stephen: listens to that and it goes and does it. [2992.63] Stephen: Well, the trouble is with some flight controllers, if you've got a GPS on [2995.91] Stephen: there, it's supposed to listen to commands that tell it to write stuff and get them [2999.47] Stephen: from the USB port, which looks like a regular serial ports, the flight [3003.19] Stephen: controller. But if you've got a GPS connected to something else, it'll start [3007.91] Stephen: spamming information out of the GPS port and the flight controller gets confused [3011.99] Stephen: and thinks that the GPS port is what it should be listening to for the flashing [3015.35] Stephen: information. [3017.27] Jack: And is that just a matter of going into the port tab and turning that off, maybe? [3022.91] Stephen: No, because it's happening at boot time. [3025.19] Stephen: Like this is not before flashing. [3029.63] Stephen: So if you disable the port in beta flight, the bootloader doesn't know the ports [3033.63] Stephen: being disabled. [3035.15] Jack: Yeah, I suppose. Yeah. [3036.39] Stephen: Right. [3038.39] Stephen: So it's just a board design problem. [3040.31] Stephen: Like you can design boards so they don't do this. [3042.87] Stephen: And the only one that does it is my iFlight board for some reason. [3046.63] Caroline: Homemade Lion Pack. [3048.51] Caroline: Ooh, that's a 3S. [3051.07] Stephen: Bit of a spot welder. [3052.79] Caroline: Yeah, spot welder. [3055.39] Caroline: Spot welder. [3057.47] Caroline: And this is a four thousand two hundred twenty seven twenty one seven [3063.71] Caroline: hundred pack. [3065.27] Caroline: That's a chonker. [3066.83] Caroline: Yeah, it's for play. [3069.89] Jack: Is the spot welder a car battery or is it something else? [3074.65] Caroline: No, it's a proper one. [3076.65] Caroline: It's not one of the big ones, but it's got a couple of probes. [3079.17] Caroline: You put it on, you charge it. [3080.13] Caroline: It's got a ten thousand milliampere battery inside it. [3083.85] Stephen: I saw someone released a rechargeable spot welder recently. [3087.65] Jack: Yeah, basically what I thought. [3090.81] Jack: Is it a hand or is it buried? [3093.57] Jack: I can get it. [3094.57] Jack: It's just in the other room. [3096.33] Jack: I'll go grab it. [3097.53] Jack: Or maybe a little listing. [3099.21] Jack: Yeah. [3100.73] Stephen: Fill the air and tell us about spot welders. [3102.89] Stephen: What makes for a good spot welder? [3105.89] Jack: Current voltage and [3110.29] Jack: copper probes. [3111.69] Jack: Yep. And then just really brief. [3115.25] Jack: It's actually a proper nickel strip and not just nickel coated strip, [3119.65] Jack: apparently. [3121.05] Curry: I would like to make my own battery packs, but I am a little bit scared of [3125.77] Jack: doing so. [3127.49] Jack: Make sure that they're within zero point something of a vault. [3134.49] Jack: I think that's the right. [3135.97] Jack: Listen to big Clive. [3137.01] Jack: He's way smarter because he said that he was like, [3140.13] Jack: you know, you've got a lower charge battery than a full charge battery. [3145.17] Stephen: He said even like Caroline is showing us something that looks like a kind of [3150.85] Stephen: large phone charger sort of. [3152.85] Stephen: It does. [3155.93] Stephen: Couple of quite chunky looking terminals on there, I guess. [3159.61] Caroline: Oh, yeah, they're really, really heavy duty. [3163.37] Caroline: What is that? [3163.81] Stephen: It's that nice huge big big old bullet. [3167.77] Stephen: Yeah, that giant bullet connectors. [3170.09] Stephen: Giant bullet connector. [3171.05] Stephen: Right. There seem to be two designs, some that have the two leads tied together [3176.25] Stephen: into a single kind of soldering gun and some of that you have two probes and [3180.01] Caroline: you have a little thickness of that cable. [3183.25] Stephen: That's a chunky one. [3184.61] Stephen: Yeah, yeah. [3186.21] Stephen: Can we the amps? [3188.01] Stephen: Yeah, but if there's a cable like upstairs, if the batteries aren't of a [3193.33] Jack: similar charge, some serious voltage, the amps run between the two. [3199.33] Jack: Yeah, and it was fire. [3201.65] Caroline: You want the when you put them together, you want them within 0.1 volts of each [3205.89] Jack: other. Zero point one. [3211.07] Jack: Yeah, zero point one. [3214.03] Jack: Yeah, that's just going to jump into the lower charges. [3217.55] Jack: I love the ways, right? [3219.03] Caroline: My recommendation is 650 output. [3223.47] Jack: Yeah, don't do it unless you know what you're doing. [3227.63] Caroline: USB. [3229.39] Caroline: USB C. [3232.07] Stephen: And you don't find it runs out in the middle of a pack? [3235.87] Caroline: No, I did a 4S, 4S, 4x4, 2100. [3245.07] Stephen: And how do you trigger the start of the weld? [3250.51] Caroline: You can have it on a foot pedal, which you don't bother. [3252.83] Stephen: Oh, this is a foot pedal, right. [3254.43] Caroline: But mainly when you make the contact, you put one down and put the other probe down. [3261.27] Caroline: And when it sees a continuity, it fires. [3264.63] Stephen: Oh, that's cool. [3265.27] Stephen: OK, so you just go don't just do that. [3268.15] Jack: No, you have to press quite hard for the penetration. [3272.79] Caroline: I found if you press really hard, it conducts too well and it doesn't make a [3277.47] Caroline: good spot where you want to sort of press medium hard, you get used to it. [3283.91] Caroline: Because you want it to spark a little bit, to actually melt the nickel. [3289.59] Stephen: Right. [3291.51] Caroline: If you press really hard, you don't get a good weld. [3294.75] Stephen: Do you have to do it a bunch of times to get it to stick or just once? [3299.11] Caroline: I usually do it about four times on each one. [3302.27] Jack: Is it more vaporised than... [3305.63] Jack: Going to the mic, Jack. [3307.87] Jack: It's welding rather than... [3309.47] Jack: It's proper welding. [3310.91] Jack: Yeah, not... [3312.71] Jack: Oh, yeah, they're probably welded. [3316.23] Caroline: Yeah, I've got another four pack to make up soon. [3319.07] Stephen: You never know if some of it is like actually vaporising briefly and then [3324.19] Stephen: cooling back down, but it's certainly getting hot enough that there's [3326.75] Stephen: fusing going on, right? [3327.83] Caroline: Cows being saying that a lot of it is rare because it's nickel plate is still... [3332.91] Caroline: No, you have to pay a lot of money to get the proper nickel, nickel, 100 cent nickel. [3337.39] Stephen: Do you need full nickel strips? [3339.23] Stephen: No messing around. [3340.91] Caroline: You can tell the difference immediately. [3342.75] Caroline: You can't spot weld the steel ones properly. [3347.47] Caroline: But if you search around, you can find vendors in the UK that sell the nickel. [3354.95] Caroline: Yeah. [3355.67] Caroline: But it's quite expensive. [3356.79] Caroline: I mean, I got five metres of it and it cost me like £30. [3361.67] Stephen: Do you still have to solder on the balance connections and like the XT30 or XT60? [3366.51] Caroline: Yeah. [3367.71] Stephen: Okay. [3368.11] Stephen: So you can then solder in between. [3371.47] Caroline: Yeah. [3372.19] Caroline: You don't solder on top of the... [3373.03] Stephen: Oh, so you put it on the strip, right. [3374.59] Caroline: Yeah. [3375.07] Stephen: Got it. [3375.39] Stephen: Got it. [3376.59] Caroline: And then you make the end strips longer so you can solder on the actual lead. [3384.27] Jack: Yeah. [3386.15] Caroline: Longer solder on and fold it over. [3388.55] Jack: Yeah. [3388.83] Jack: Safety notice. [3389.71] Jack: Do not be on fire. [3390.75] Jack: Be careful around busy roads. [3392.27] Jack: Don't take our advice. [3393.39] Caroline: And if you do, wear safety goggles. [3396.63] Jack: Yeah. [3397.11] Jack: When you're on fire, get the goggles. [3398.43] Jack: Do not make your own batteries. [3401.71] Jack: It is dangerous and fire may ensue. [3407.63] Jack: And... [3408.47] Caroline: The maker of this is portable spot welder. [3412.07] Stephen: Is that it? [3412.79] Stephen: Just... [3413.19] Stephen: Carpoo? [3414.63] Stephen: Carpoo. [3415.19] Stephen: That brand you'd know and love. [3416.35] Stephen: Carpoo, yeah. [3417.07] Curry: Quite sharp, but not quite. [3418.51] Stephen: So what's in there, you think? [3419.87] Stephen: Just a couple of 18650s and a huge... [3422.19] Caroline: No, it's a big old pouch sell. [3425.11] Caroline: A pouch sell. [3426.87] Jack: Yeah. [3427.95] Jack: And I think like a like a diode ladder or something. [3432.71] Jack: Something like that. [3434.19] Jack: Doesn't say... [3436.27] Caroline: I had the one that was useless. [3438.59] Caroline: I pulled it apart and it was a big old pouch sell in it. [3442.79] Caroline: But this one's been really good. [3444.59] Jack: Yeah. [3445.19] Jack: Yeah. [3446.47] Jack: Basically, don't make batteries unless you've got somewhere that you're... [3453.59] Jack: You know, there's not... [3454.79] Jack: Don't make a band-aid line. [3457.79] Stephen: I saw a couple that came out. [3459.75] Stephen: There was one, I think Gal Crema was doing some reviews on one, [3463.11] Stephen: which had like an XT60 input and the little welding pen came off an XT60 output. [3470.23] Stephen: Yeah, I saw that, yeah. [3471.03] Stephen: And all he was doing was like stepping up the voltage, I guess, or whatever. [3476.03] Caroline: The voltage is 650 amps. [3479.59] Stephen: That's probably very low voltage then, I guess. [3481.63] Stephen: It's just a giant... [3482.15] Caroline: Output voltage 4.2 volts. [3483.75] Caroline: So it basically short circuits the battery across it, basically, shortly, quickly. [3491.79] Stephen: Yeah, I guess it works. [3493.71] Stephen: Yeah. [3493.99] Caroline: Yeah, it works. [3496.47] Jack: Cool. [3497.15] Jack: It's a neat idea. [3498.55] Jack: Yeah. [3499.35] Jack: But yeah, be careful because it can go very wrong very quickly. [3503.99] Jack: Yeah. [3504.19] Stephen: And the trouble is with... [3505.43] Stephen: I still like them, I think. [3506.43] Jack: Yeah. [3507.19] Jack: Not... [3508.43] Jack: The trouble is with like red hot plasma is the burns and flames. [3512.35] Jack: The trouble with red hot plasma can be a bit burny. [3516.39] Jack: Yeah, vaporized bits of metal. [3519.07] Jack: I had one burn almost an entire bit of cable that was about, I don't know, [3528.47] Jack: is about two centimeters. [3530.83] Jack: And it was the famous, I plugged in and Frank caught all the smoke and it just blew up. [3537.19] Jack: It was that one. [3539.55] Jack: And yeah, a piece of copper cable, like, got out of the silicone and then flew off [3550.03] Jack: and flew on my laptop and basically melted its way through my laptop. [3556.63] Jack: So it is, yeah, it like short circuit, you know, shorting, making batteries. [3563.87] Jack: Very dangerous. [3565.23] Jack: Do not recommend. [3566.63] Caroline: John H. [3567.27] Caroline: That's why I'm making this. [3568.83] Caroline: I can't you can't buy them easy in the UK. [3571.91] Caroline: You can buy the cells easy enough. [3575.31] Caroline: Yeah, you can't buy the packs easy. [3578.51] Stephen: I've got a three or three line who make pretty terrible lipos, but they did an OK [3584.23] Stephen: job with this, and I think I've showed it before. [3585.95] Stephen: It's just got a silly little like light up battery indicator on the side. [3590.03] Stephen: Like for your goggles. [3591.79] Stephen: Yeah, that's my goggles. [3593.23] Stephen: I just used to balance lead. [3596.47] Stephen: For for a while, there were a couple of cheap brands that were doing ready made [3599.79] Stephen: cells that were quasi reputable, the GMB, and they did some kind of weaker ones that [3604.79] Stephen: were using cheap 18650s and they were very good value if they're still around the [3609.35] Stephen: GMB kind of low lower capacity lithium cells. [3615.03] Stephen: So I've got a two S and a three S and I think they did all the way up to six S and [3619.03] Stephen: you could also pay a bit more and you could get cells that GMB had built out of Sony [3622.99] Stephen: VTC6, which are, you know, decent 18650s. [3628.07] Stephen: So those are the two I go for. [3629.95] Stephen: AU line and GMB search them. [3632.47] Stephen: You might have to get them on Aliexpress and pay to either get proper shipping or [3637.79] Stephen: some dodgy seller that just punts it to you and you hope it doesn't get stopped. [3641.95] Caroline: Yeah, I think they swapped by myself. [3647.47] Jack: Burns of delivery truck that has been delivered to you down. [3651.91] Stephen: Yeah, it's not not the greatest of ideas. [3654.59] Stephen: I think Banggood are shipping cells to the UK now, but you might have to pay [3659.55] Stephen: through the nose. [3660.95] Stephen: Yeah, you know, quite know whether it's going to be on or off with those guys. [3666.87] Stephen: Scary. [3668.27] Caroline: A Fox star. [3669.23] Caroline: That's it. [3669.71] Caroline: Fox star. [3672.15] Stephen: Yeah. [3672.43] Stephen: Fox stars, not the raw cells. [3673.83] Caroline: Let's get my cell swam. [3676.75] Caroline: No worries. [3677.87] Caroline: And they're good. [3679.35] Caroline: They're good cells. [3681.59] Jack: Yeah, we can't trust enough. [3683.51] Jack: Don't be on fire. [3684.87] Stephen: Rule zero. [3686.31] Stephen: From memory, there were two basic sort of manufacturers. [3689.07] Stephen: You had the Sony and their high discharge was the VTC six. [3692.51] Stephen: And then you had the Samsung with INR, some things that were also high discharge. [3697.35] Stephen: I tend to get Sony once. [3699.63] Stephen: Yeah. [3700.79] Stephen: Yeah. [3702.27] Jack: Do not. [3702.95] Jack: Yeah. [3703.43] Jack: Do not be on fire. [3705.39] Jack: Do not be on fire. [3706.91] Stephen: It is very cheap to buy the cells, but yeah, you're going to have to take a lot of [3710.71] Caroline: precautions to buy fish, paper, fish, paper, fish, paper. [3717.11] Caroline: It's what you get on site when you make it's insulating cardboard with sticky [3721.91] Caroline: back, you wrap it round to protect them. [3725.91] Stephen: So they don't rub against each other. [3727.55] Caroline: So they don't rub it or I also double wrapped them anyway. [3731.19] Stephen: I don't know that the casing is metal. [3733.35] Stephen: Right. [3733.63] Stephen: The case is, is the negative terminal on these cells. [3736.63] Stephen: So you don't want to shred through the plastic wrap and [3739.71] Caroline: I buy the plastic wraps and I put two of them on, on top. [3743.67] Stephen: That's probably something we should mention because I wasn't aware of this, [3746.03] Stephen: but the can is, is always the negative side of, of the, of the thawing. [3752.15] Stephen: And so that whole can underneath the plastic layer is going to be connected to [3756.35] Stephen: the cell and you need to be really careful if you're building a pack out of them [3760.11] Stephen: that you don't short stuff against the can. [3762.59] Jack: Yeah. [3763.75] Jack: Cause yeah, it can be, then use that whole battery as a shortcut to [3768.91] Jack: other cells to burn and add on fire ensues. [3777.43] Jack: And the trouble is with the, those little metal can things is they hold, [3782.91] Jack: there's a lot of, uh, potential energy that wants to come out very quickly. [3788.07] Jack: And if you've ever watched, um, a sort of like vehicle fire with some of those in [3794.35] Jack: there, it's like shotguns going off every time, one of those. [3798.67] Jack: So just don't bother. [3800.11] Jack: Just pre-buy your, I can't stress that enough. [3802.75] Jack: Pre-buy your packs. [3803.83] Jack: Whatever you do. [3805.31] Curry: And you still want to make your own batteries. [3807.31] Curry: You even know what you're doing or you seriously don't and you're too [3810.07] Caroline: overconfident, keep them in the safety boxes when you're not making them. [3814.79] Jack: Yeah. [3816.19] Jack: Caroline is a very dangerous woman. [3818.43] Jack: Do not mess. [3824.27] Caroline: I store my batteries next to my liters of IPA. [3828.91] Jack: Uh, yeah. [3830.15] Jack: Don't, don't follow any of the, don't, don't mess. [3834.15] Caroline: You're going to go to alcohol. [3838.87] Stephen: About you could not be able to source these in the UK. [3841.39] Stephen: Well, it just so happens that are wonderful. [3844.91] Stephen: And so over a hobby, I'll sell a cell, a four S GMB 2,500, which I was [3853.77] Stephen: just saying it's, it's, it's not the Sony one. [3856.99] Stephen: It's a bit on the cheap and cheerful side, but if you just want long range [3861.95] Stephen: and you don't want a high discharge, that's great bang for the buck. [3864.95] Stephen: And I've flown quads on these and yeah, you can get a good amount of flight out of them. [3871.19] Caroline: These ones I use in the, uh, in the small planes, they're 10 amp max discharge, [3877.19] Caroline: but they're 3,500 milliamp hours. [3882.47] Caroline: Whereas this is 30 amp max discharge. [3887.49] Jack: Nice. [3888.77] Jack: All right. [3889.15] Jack: Should we call it in there? [3890.05] Jack: I think that's all we got time for. [3893.49] Jack: This, uh, Caroline, it's been great having you on. [3896.41] Caroline: Oh, thank you. [3897.05] Jack: That's always pleasure. [3898.77] Jack: Uh, you have been listed to let's drone out. [3902.73] Jack: Uh, please don't make your own batteries. [3905.49] Jack: That's an incredible, go to hobby RC, join our discord. [3911.17] Jack: There is a discount code for there. [3914.53] Jack: I will read it out just as once. [3916.69] Jack: We're not sponsored or affiliated by hobby RC, but I give you the code. [3923.01] Jack: Yep. [3923.53] Jack: And then there's eight ERGP. [3926.37] Caroline: I don't know how that was September. [3929.37] Caroline: So it might be expired. [3930.41] Jack: That one, um, Mike tango Sierra Foxtrot, Foxtrot 23 tango. [3939.61] Jack: So yeah, get 5% off. [3942.17] Jack: We're not, we're not sponsored by them. [3944.17] Jack: Mike hates social media and thinks this is the worst show in the world. [3950.37] Jack: Uh, but yeah, but by batteries, instead of making them, you've been [3954.25] Jack: joined by everyone's favorite curry kitten. [3956.69] Curry: Goodbye. [3958.05] Jack: Uh, the power stance himself, Steven. [3961.93] Jack: Cheers. [3962.49] Jack: Bye. [3963.49] Jack: And, uh, the don't store your IPA next to your batteries. [3968.73] Jack: What is wrong with you, Caroline? [3970.09] Jack: You've been listening to let her out. [3974.45] Jack: Thank you. [3974.77] Jack: Good night. [3975.65] Jack: Thank you for everyone who tuned in. [3977.25] Jack: Thank you to our wonderful Patreons. [3978.73] Jack: Thank you to our guests, Caroline. [3980.53] Jack: Thank you, everyone. [3981.13] Jack: Yep. [3981.85] Jack: Yep. [3983.93] Jack: If you're listening to this on iTunes, we are live every Thursday [3987.57] Jack: at eight PM till nine PM UK time. [3992.29] Jack: And don't forget, I think next week, the clocks go back and rules [3998.17] Jack: zero don't be on fire. [3999.93] Jack: Yep. [4000.61] Jack: Don't do what Caroline does. [4005.61] Jack: Deeply disturbed to be doing that. [4009.61] Jack: Thank you. [4010.05] Jack: Good night.
