[0.0] Tony: Hello and you're listening to Let's Drone Out and special thank you to our lovely patrons that help donate so that we can pay the editor to remove the swear words and silly things we say. Massive thank you to.
[14.0] Tony: Carlos Campos.
[16.0] Tony: Art Faulkner.
[18.0] Stephen: Sam Dahmer.
[19.0] Stephen: On with the show.
[21.0] Tony: Let's Drone Out now.
[23.0] Tony: Hello and welcome back. You're listening to Let's Drone Out.
[55.58] Tony: Live on a Thursday, every Thursday, because Christmas wasn't punishing enough.
[64.58] Tony: Tonight you are joined by everyone's favorite extremely beady, beady McBeater beard.
[75.58] Tony: That's you Frank.
[77.58] Frank: Okay, I wasn't sure. Good evening.
[80.58] Tony: And the other, almost as beady, but has got, have you still got the gap with the scar?
[89.58] Tony: No, the scar's covered up now, but I'll still do it.
[92.58] Tony: Fair enough.
[93.58] Tony: Still patchy on the side.
[95.58] Tony: That's my darling wife.
[97.58] Tony: Bonjour, husband.
[99.58] Tony: And filling in for Bellrick or Steven until he gets here, the legend himself, Mr. Painter360.
[109.58] Lee: Hey, everybody. Good evening.
[111.58] Tony: I've never seen your room so dark.
[114.58] Lee: Well, the thing is, I have now perfected, because I do lots of live streams to Patreon, so I don't do it on the channel stuff.
[121.58] Lee: But I've now figured out that unless I have this whole light set up, because of course, you know, you guys know all this stuff.
[127.58] Lee: But for those listening, I literally have a whole ray of lights.
[131.58] Lee: Anyone walking by the canal around the back of the house will wonder what the hell is.
[134.58] Lee: An alien abduction, because I'm sure from the outside of the house, there's these lights shining out because I've got the curtains open.
[140.58] Lee: But whereas in the past, you know, I had that one little wimpy light, and it would look like I was calling in from anonymous.
[147.58] Lee: I just needed the mask.
[148.58] Lee: Now you can actually see me, which is probably not a good thing, but it does mean I'm surrounded by lights.
[154.58] Lee: So, yeah, I feel very much like a superstar, but at least you can see me.
[157.58] Lee: But the downside is you can't see anything behind me.
[161.58] Lee: It's all all all secret stuff, which is probably a secret squirrel.
[167.58] Lee: Yeah, all the stuff that's coming in January that we're currently working on, some of which you and I were talking about today, young man.
[178.58] Tony: Lurgi, is it OK to share the photo that you sent me, my friend?
[185.58] Tony: I just out of thing, we've we've got a lovely new brand new listener with us who's just.
[195.58] Tony: Yeah, just had his had had their first Christmas.
[202.58] Tony: Here we have we've got Lurgi with little little Tony.
[210.58] Tony: And he's wearing this little LDO shirt.
[214.58] Tony: It does look horrified, I would be to.
[221.58] Lee: Full thing.
[224.58] Lee: Does that mean you're now officially Uncle Tony?
[228.58] Tony: I think so.
[231.58] Tony: Me? I don't know if I'm Uncle Tony or not. No, I am an uncle Tony.
[238.58] Tony: Uncle Tony, I'm the Tony more like my wife.
[244.58] Tony: Only in your sick dreams, Jack.
[247.58] Tony: Yep.
[248.58] Tony: Was Santa good to you guys? I got given a little glider.
[256.95] Tony: And my friend Tom. Thank you, Tom.
[261.95] Tony: A friend who I've met from eBay.
[264.95] Frank: eBay friend, eBay friend.
[271.95] Tony: So I will be destroying that and making it a piece of.
[276.95] Tony: Are you going to do what everyone does with these gliders?
[279.95] Tony: What, put servos and a motor on?
[283.95] Tony: Here's Steven. Hello.
[289.95] Tony: Are you?
[291.95] Tony: Yeah, I guess so. I'm going to, you know, level the bed for the 3D printer and stick a motor on it and got some servos I can dig out.
[300.95] Tony: I just don't know what to do regards ailerons, whether I should bother.
[306.95] Tony: Just keep it a three channel.
[309.95] Tony: Or do I dare, you know, because a lot of people cut the wings and flatten them out to get the dihedral out of them.
[316.95] Tony: Has anyone here done it?
[320.95] Tony: No.
[321.95] Tony: The only person I know who's modified one of them is Dan Upton and he made it so the wings were attached by a servo.
[330.95] Tony: So a whole wing would be an aileron.
[335.95] Frank: Or you could make it like the air hogs, whatever it was, just have two motors.
[341.95] Frank: Get all the servos. Just have two motors and just do it by differential thrust.
[346.95] Tony: Yeah, that would be easier.
[349.95] Tony: Well, send your links to the into the discord.
[355.95] Tony: What Jack should do with it or try to do with it, I should say.
[360.95] Tony: I reckon just go to the top of the 360 and just lob it out the window and then chase it with the wood.
[367.95] Tony: Yes.
[368.95] Tony: Painless. Do you play a lot of the Sims?
[374.95] Tony: Do you fly a lot in Sims?
[376.95] Lee: I don't know. It's not something I get chance to do. I'm usually doing stuff in the field.
[381.95] Lee: Some of it's why. But no, I don't.
[384.95] Lee: One of my friends is looking to become a commercial pilot and went and spoke to one another one of my mates who's a commercial pilot already.
[392.95] Lee: And he was saying about how good the Sims are now and it should be something he's doing.
[396.95] Lee: And I have watched a few videos on YouTube and the new things like the Microsoft Flight Sim is absolutely phenomenal compared to what I remember from back in the noughties.
[405.95] Tony: It was terrible. Well, yes, but I just wondered because I I had a few house FBI boards spare and I wondered if you wanted one.
[418.95] Tony: And that allows you to like Steven was the person who kind of led me on to this.
[425.95] Tony: So you can add a crossfire or the LRS receiver and plug it in and then use it with a SIM.
[436.95] Tony: I just wondered, OK, I've got a spare ball hood and a logic thing.
[440.95] Tony: All you'd need is a Pico and your receiver and I could send you one.
[444.95] Stephen: Yeah, that's painless. As if you've got a bunch of different radios and when you plug them in as USB, they all appear as different controllers and you have to map them all up.
[453.95] Stephen: But if you have a LRS on a bunch of different radios, you can keep this little adapter plugged in and then just swap to whatever radio you want at the time.
[462.95] Stephen: And the channel mapping stays the same assuming you've got all your radios set up the same.
[465.95] Stephen: So you don't need to constantly be saying this is a new controller and setting it up from scratch again.
[470.95] Lee: That's very cool. Yeah, I like it. I'll send it to you anyway.
[474.95] Lee: Yeah, yeah, I'll have a play with that. But thank you for that. Yeah, no worries.
[478.95] Tony: You'll have to get a Pico. Would you like to take your leave seen as miraculously everyone has appeared?
[484.95] Lee: Yeah, I will. The only thing I'll say is for the Christmas, I was very lucky that the two things that I got that I was really wanted.
[492.95] Lee: One was Lego Haunted Mansion because, you know, I'm a big haunted mansion fan. Love Lego. So tick, box, both.
[499.95] Tony: Saw that build on your Instagram.
[501.95] Lee: Very, very pleased with that. The other thing is that, you know, when you're doing that thing, when you're trying to film on your desk and you have your camera on a tripod.
[510.95] Lee: So you're trying to film something with your arms around the tripod and you desperately trying to make it look good, like soldering demos, trying to do that bloody impossible.
[519.95] Lee: So I finally, my wife got me for Christmas, one of those kind of articulated arms.
[523.95] Lee: So the camera can actually be mounted above exactly like that, above and look down so I can do what I'm doing and not worry about the fact that I'm having to reach around the camera.
[533.95] Lee: Might sound like a really small little thing, but oh, my God, I actually used it for the first time yesterday and it was so nice.
[541.95] Lee: I could actually leaning because I'm old, old guy right now, so I need glasses for close up stuff so I could get close in and actually see what I were doing because you had to do it by looking at the screen at the back of the camera.
[552.95] Lee: It's like, you know, Chinese whispers trying to plug stuff in. So now it's great to smell.
[558.95] Stephen: That's a great idea because I've got two cameras here and I was thinking I'd mount one of them overhead, but I just had no idea where to really where to start from mounting it.
[568.95] Lee: I will put the link in the private chat for you, Stephen, because this one is mega. I've been looking, I was looking for them about three, four years ago and they were all massive professional rigs that were like big Meccano sets that bolted over and I was like, I don't want that.
[581.95] Lee: I just want like an arm that I can slide into place and it's and it's fab. So I can't believe I haven't had one.
[588.95] Stephen: So is it like a mic arm like I've got there just to kind of articulated.
[593.95] Lee: Yeah, but the joints are on little thumbscrews. So you wouldn't do them into position, then you kind of tighten them up.
[599.95] Lee: But the nice thing is there's a rotating one halfway down.
[602.95] Lee: Sorry for all those people are listening who don't record videos. This is boring as crap. I apologize.
[607.95] Lee: But for those of us that do, there's a little kind of a curtain. Yeah, there's a little piece where it's still even when it's all locked, you can push it out the way.
[616.95] Lee: So you can kind of push it, pull it in for when you're recording. And then when you're finished, you can push the camera out the way without losing all of the positioning.
[623.95] Lee: So it's I'll send you the link. It's awesome. So for me, it kind of RC related ish, but that's my big, big one for today for this Christmas. It was great.
[635.95] Lee: Thank you to Mrs. Painless. And thank you for your Christmas card. Oh, my God, I actually arrived at it because so many people as I said, still haven't.
[645.95] Tony: No, no, I got it. I got it just before Christmas. I've sent you one, but you will probably get it in January.
[654.95] Tony: I'm still waiting for the next Christmas. My only tip to you, Lee, is don't use that camera in wide because it will turn to something as Ben Heck says, puke cam.
[671.95] Tony: So, yeah, I don't know why. It's just a thing. Which camera in wide? Your overhead. Oh, OK.
[682.95] Frank: I don't know. You see all the like the walked perspective, like if it's. Parallaxing. Is that what it's called? Parallaxing is something else.
[693.95] Stephen: But, you know, get lens distortion. And it's really obvious if you're looking at stuff on a bench rather than people's faces, because your bench has like things that are supposed to be in a straight line and not bananas.
[705.95] Frank: Yeah, we've got like a nice gridded pattern on your on your desk and it's just circular. Well, we all have one of those maps, don't we? Because that's that's yeah.
[715.95] Lee: Yeah. Well, why do we have those maps? That's a great question. Why have we all one design of cutting that available?
[722.95] Lee: Can I have one for next Christmas, please? Right. That's OK. Tony sorted out for next Christmas. All the demos I used to watch back in the very early day, like 2005. There you go. That's it.
[734.95] Lee: I've got one that's got inches on one side and centimetres on the other. And that can be my wife. So I had to buy her a spare after I melted holes in it with soldering iron.
[744.95] Lee: That's the way to do it. We've all done that. Would you like a mini, Matt? No, thank you. I'm good. I have I have lots of various sizes. And the one that I'm still using is the one that I started with, which looks like the one that Stephen was talking about is knackered.
[761.95] Lee: But it has now has sentiment. Yeah, it's got holes in it. It's stained from that. What's that magic stuff that you kind of roll up and it goes like a putty. It's like and it sets like rubber.
[773.95] Lee: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Black sugar is a nightmare. It just stains everything. So I've got all these black marks all over it.
[781.95] Stephen: And the sachets expire as well. Like you spend tons getting some bargain like massive pack of soo group and then it goes off in the sachete.
[790.95] Lee: I don't know this. Yeah, absolutely right. I got I needed some the other day, I was putting a cable in an air unit. And I didn't have that little rubber, rubber grommet thing that goes in the front and I thought it's okay.
[802.95] Lee: I've got some black shoe group, whatever it's called. So I went to get it and it was basically this solid little square inside the packet.
[808.95] Tony: Oh, no. I use it for keeping my key chains on because my car remote is so old, it snapped at the end. So I fashioned the ring of it around.
[821.95] Stephen: I'm putting stuff on bike handlebars and all that as well.
[825.95] Lee: Carol, I say that sugar has a short shelf life. Yeah, I wish. Yeah, I wish I'd have known that because when I bought it, I kept the sachets all in the careful place thinking that will come in handy.
[835.95] Lee: Because the thing is, you only need about quarter of the bond that's in a packet anyway, whatever you need. And the rest of it goes in the bin. Or I used to make it back in the old days, if you remember this, I used to make it into little rubber feet to go at the bottom of quads.
[849.95] Stephen: Yeah, that I could stick on my word to 3d printing. So I thought that stuff was going to be the answer. Like I wouldn't need to mess around with CAD, I could just get it and jam it on stuff.
[860.95] Stephen: But you can't, it costs a lot to buy single sachets. So you buy a load of them and then they just go off. So yeah, 3d printing ended up being more cost effective.
[870.95] Tony: Doesn't the Warhammer guys have the weird blue and fluorescent yellow stuff that you mix together? But does that go hard?
[880.95] Frank: Yeah, there's the milliput stuff that kind of goes hard. It's more like an epoxy, isn't it?
[885.95] Frank: It's like plasti mold, I think that you like pour boiling water on it and then it goes kind of stuffed and squidgy and you can push it into things.
[896.95] Tony: What's the name for that stuff? It's got a name.
[899.95] Frank: I mean, yeah, I like what I've got stuck on this plasti mold and I don't think that's what it is.
[908.95] Frank: But it's some kind of portmante of maybe.
[916.95] Stephen: You need a mold for that stuff though, don't you?
[918.95] Frank: Colly morph, Caroline's got it.
[920.95] Stephen: Colly morph, oh yeah.
[922.95] Tony: Not doing a fuse to the alien from Red Dwarf.
[928.95] Lee: The one that was the curry monster, that one.
[931.95] Tony: Yes, that sucked all your different curry.
[935.95] Tony: Yeah, sucked all the different emotions out of you.
[940.95] Stephen: Turns you into Dwayne Dibley.
[942.95] Lee: Or Ace Rimmer.
[944.95] Tony: Alright Lee, I will leave you to it my friend.
[947.95] Lee: Alright guys, I'll dive out. Just seasons greetings everybody, best wishes for 2023.
[952.95] Lee: And you, cheers mate.
[954.95] Lee: Happy new year.
[955.95] Stephen: Happy 23 mate.
[956.95] Lee: Yeah, happy new year, have a great show guys.
[958.95] Lee: Take care.
[959.95] Tony: No worries, thank you so much for everything.
[964.95] Tony: Aw, painless, thanks I know.
[966.95] Tony: I know, what a legend.
[968.95] Tony: What a geezer.
[969.95] Tony: Merry Christmas as well, like you Frank.
[972.95] Frank: Yep, well you know, don't get me putting my Christmas jumpers away just yet.
[979.95] Frank: What did you call that stuff, that green and yellow stuff?
[982.95] Stephen: Milliput.
[983.95] Stephen: Colly morph is what they wrote in the chat.
[984.95] Stephen: Oh Milliput, yeah.
[986.95] Stephen: That's not really flexible though is it, that's more like clay.
[989.95] Tony: Yeah, never heard of it.
[991.95] Tony: Missing out Tony.
[993.95] Tony: Mmm, I like my, I like the Shugru but now it's probably in my, gone off and gone hard in my, in my cupboard somewhere.
[1001.95] Tony: Yep.
[1002.95] Tony: Damn it.
[1004.95] Tony: I didn't know that.
[1006.95] Stephen: Someone needs to find out if it'll keep in the freezer or something.
[1009.95] Stephen: There must be a way to keep it that the shops do.
[1012.95] Stephen: Surely they don't just throw it all away.
[1015.95] Tony: Yeah, there's probably a secret out there somewhere.
[1020.95] Tony: Keep it in the fridge.
[1022.95] Tony: Like we used to keep maggots in the fridge, like those boys when we used to go fishing.
[1030.95] Tony: What am I making it?
[1032.95] Tony: I can imagine.
[1034.95] Tony: But she was kind of relieved for when you finally did turn vegan.
[1039.95] Tony: Yes, she's like no maggots no more.
[1042.95] Tony: Well then I was out and moved by then.
[1045.95] Stephen: What do you use for fishing bait?
[1046.95] Stephen: Is there vegan fishing bait?
[1048.95] Stephen: Or just not fishing?
[1049.95] Tony: The act of fishing isn't very vegan.
[1052.95] Stephen: Well if you throw them back it's okay.
[1054.95] Stephen: It's just trauma.
[1055.95] Stephen: It's not murder.
[1057.95] Tony: How's being vegan and working at the slaughterhouse, Tony?
[1061.95] Stephen: No, it's a job.
[1063.95] Stephen: It's a job, isn't it?
[1065.95] Stephen: Just hitting up loaves on the head all day.
[1067.95] Stephen: It's fine.
[1068.95] Frank: I know.
[1069.95] Frank: Caroline's asking if Curry Kitten has damaged himself skiing yet.
[1073.95] Frank: I haven't heard anything.
[1074.95] Frank: I think so.
[1075.95] Frank: I think he's just.
[1076.95] Tony: I'm really ill.
[1077.95] Frank: Yeah, I think he's just unwell, unfortunately.
[1080.95] Frank: There's loads of people.
[1081.95] Stephen: Which often happens, unfortunately, when you go to resorts like that and you're jammed
[1085.95] Stephen: in with 50 other people.
[1087.95] Tony: Or just seeing family over Christmas.
[1090.95] Tony: I got home after Christmas Day and woke up at about four in the morning going,
[1095.95] Tony: I can't breathe.
[1097.95] Tony: Vicks, stuff loads of vicks up my nose and pray to the gods.
[1102.95] Tony: But yeah, it seemed like I'm all right.
[1106.95] Stephen: I thought you'd be back this week ripping it out of us for his Chicken Curry parody last week.
[1112.95] Tony: I did see that last week.
[1115.95] Tony: Did I get any RC stuff for Christmas?
[1118.95] Tony: No.
[1119.95] Tony: I'm too old for stuff like that now.
[1121.95] Tony: I just get money.
[1123.95] Tony: But I'm not old enough to get just socks yet.
[1126.95] Tony: That's to come.
[1128.95] Tony: A few years yet.
[1129.95] Tony: I'm still happy with the money, but I'm not buying RC stuff with it.
[1133.95] Tony: I'm actually buying a new saddle for my bike.
[1138.95] Stephen: Speaking of socks, someone tried to send me some customised socks.
[1143.95] Stephen: Apparently you can get one-off printed socks,
[1145.95] Stephen: which makes me think back to what we were threatening years ago.
[1150.95] Stephen: The custom LDO sock.
[1153.95] Stephen: Available singly or in pairs.
[1156.95] Tony: Jack has a couple.
[1158.95] Tony: I was going to say, I think Jack's already got some.
[1161.95] Stephen: They've got to be flexible if we want to sell them.
[1165.95] Tony: Yeah, Frank did do it.
[1167.95] Tony: They didn't fit though.
[1169.95] Tony: Turns out.
[1170.95] Tony: I don't know.
[1171.95] Tony: Yeah, because I've got really, really big feet.
[1175.95] Tony: Oh, I wonder why yet.
[1177.95] Tony: I know.
[1178.95] Tony: For Tony, they're a sleeping bag, but you know, there you go.
[1184.95] Tony: For some reason, Tony wouldn't wear them after I wore them.
[1187.95] Tony: I wonder.
[1192.33] Frank: I got a courtesy of, well, sort of via fossil stuff.
[1197.33] Frank: I've got a muds LED controller.
[1204.33] Frank: And I also got from the editor, who's also my brother,
[1209.33] Frank: the big reel of LEDs.
[1212.33] Frank: I was going to try and get those going for this evening,
[1215.33] Frank: but it turns out after turning everything upside down,
[1218.33] Frank: I can't find my solder.
[1221.33] Frank: So I've got.
[1222.33] Frank: What's mud LED?
[1223.33] Frank: Do tell us.
[1224.33] Frank: It's like, I think it's an ESP32.
[1229.33] Frank: It's a sort of carrier board for the ESP32 that drives a load of LEDs
[1236.33] Frank: and there's some firmware that goes along with it
[1240.33] Frank: that sort of just means that you can program in a load of fancy
[1245.33] Frank: flashing patterns over, you know,
[1249.33] Frank: it does a little Wi-Fi webpage to set up the patterns.
[1254.33] Frank: So fossil's made some,
[1258.33] Frank: this kind of demo video is of the, what's the big X-Class?
[1264.33] Frank: Thor?
[1265.33] Frank: Thor is a new one.
[1267.33] Frank: The Thor covered in LEDs with sort of any things
[1271.33] Frank: bouncing around all over it.
[1274.33] Frank: Or I think Matt Stubbs has made a big wing with a load of LEDs
[1278.33] Frank: or just kind of all the patterns just kind of go all the way around it.
[1283.33] Frank: So I'll find something to do with them at some point.
[1287.33] Tony: I was very interested in why you were looking for your solder.
[1293.33] Tony: Do you want me to send you some?
[1295.33] Tony: You don't need to be screwed without it.
[1299.33] Frank: I mean, I just, I'm sure there's a box somewhere that I've forgotten about
[1303.33] Frank: and it will all be in there.
[1305.33] Frank: I can find the flux, but I can't find the solder.
[1310.33] Stephen: I heard racers are really going in for LEDs in a big way now.
[1313.33] Stephen: Apparently there's some sort of mandate
[1315.33] Stephen: that racers have to cover themselves in specific colours
[1320.33] Stephen: in some racing league in the US now,
[1323.33] Stephen: which has led people to go from 32 up to 64 LEDs.
[1327.33] Stephen: Apparently 32 wasn't enough for a load of racers.
[1331.33] Stephen: He wants people to do 64 LEDs on the quad and that's a feature now.
[1335.33] Tony: I watched whatever racing it is called.
[1339.33] Tony: I don't even know what it's called anymore.
[1341.33] Tony: The one indoors.
[1342.33] Tony: DCL.
[1343.33] Tony: DCL, yeah, one of them.
[1346.33] Tony: And they had all their, you know, they had all their LEDs.
[1351.33] Tony: But some flash, which I would like just constant.
[1357.33] Tony: So you can't see it and then you can see it
[1359.33] Tony: and then you can't see it and then you can see it, you know, because they fly.
[1362.33] Tony: Like cyclists.
[1363.33] Tony: Yeah, it's.
[1364.33] Stephen: It's dark clothes.
[1366.33] Stephen: Yeah.
[1367.33] Stephen: How many LEDs on your board, Jack?
[1369.33] Stephen: Is that five or six on there?
[1371.33] Stephen: Five.
[1372.33] Stephen: Yeah.
[1373.33] Stephen: So you'd be able to run like 12 of Jack's boards on a single quad.
[1382.33] Stephen: Just imagine how would that look like?
[1385.33] Tony: Pretty.
[1387.33] Frank: So on each arm, there's like one pointing up, one pointing down and one pointing like forwards or something.
[1393.33] Frank: Yeah.
[1394.33] Frank: I know what we can do.
[1395.33] Tony: Just both sides of the stack, front and back.
[1397.33] Tony: I've got a great idea.
[1398.33] Tony: Lights on the switch.
[1401.33] Tony: Placing backwards at your opponent and you switch them on and blur them when you go around the bend and they crash.
[1408.33] Stephen: Boom.
[1409.33] Stephen: As soon as you get near a gate, you just go from black to just full on like.
[1412.33] Tony: Yes, I'm doing it.
[1414.33] Tony: Is it cheating?
[1416.33] Tony: And switch now!
[1418.33] Frank: It's like a persistence of vision display and just like a fake gate appear on slightly to the side.
[1427.33] Stephen: Exactly.
[1428.33] Stephen: Or if you have enough of them, you could make it look like your quad's moving in the opposite direction.
[1432.33] Stephen: So you could start the light going and you move that way and then the lights go the other way.
[1436.33] Tony: Yeah, you do the fast turn and it still stays there.
[1439.33] Stephen: Yeah, yeah.
[1441.33] Tony: We're on to something here.
[1443.33] Tony: Right, let's get this ready for wings and wheels next year, please.
[1448.33] Tony: I've been asked about if I'm going to that already by a couple of people, which I probably am.
[1455.33] Tony: Anyone else going to go this year?
[1458.33] Tony: I don't know.
[1459.33] Tony: Yeah, maybe.
[1461.33] Tony: You should.
[1462.33] Tony: It's always a good event that even if you're not flying, there's loads to do.
[1468.33] Stephen: I saw some people flying seven inches, so I might give that a shot.
[1472.33] Stephen: They weren't officially on the chip, but I've got a nice seven inch.
[1475.33] Stephen: I don't get much opportunity to thrash it, so be up for that.
[1478.33] Tony: That sounds like me.
[1480.33] Tony: Sorry.
[1481.33] Stephen: A little five inch tone.
[1483.33] Stephen: There's a whoop stuff as well.
[1484.33] Stephen: I've got a whole bunch of whoops that I just can't get round to whoop racing.
[1489.33] Tony: I can't do it either.
[1491.33] Tony: Maybe it's a chode.
[1492.33] Tony: Maybe it's seven wide five jaw.
[1497.33] Tony: What an amazing bloke.
[1499.33] Tony: I wonder what he's not like.
[1502.33] Tony: Speaking of which, how was date night with Brucie?
[1509.33] Tony: Yeah, fun.
[1510.33] Tony: Fun.
[1511.33] Tony: Yeah, we drunk too much.
[1513.33] Tony: I miss the merriments.
[1514.33] Tony: I can only imagine you woke up in the same bed together.
[1518.33] Tony: Not quite.
[1519.33] Tony: Not quite, but it was fun.
[1523.33] Tony: Expensive night because the beers are eight, nine quid each.
[1530.33] Tony: No.
[1531.33] Tony: What?
[1532.33] Tony: 30 quid for five beers.
[1535.33] Tony: Jeez.
[1536.33] Tony: Where were you?
[1538.33] Tony: At home.
[1540.33] Tony: Charging themselves is the only way they can stop drinking.
[1545.33] Tony: Made a fiver out of it.
[1550.33] Tony: No, it's just expensive.
[1552.33] Tony: Expensive craft beers.
[1554.33] Tony: That's how much they are.
[1557.33] Tony: You can have 8% for eight quid or go and buy 10 bottles of wee-wee.
[1564.33] Stephen: That's too short to drink Carlin.
[1566.33] Tony: Yes, exactly.
[1568.33] Tony: And Carlsberg and all them.
[1570.33] Tony: Yeah.
[1571.33] Tony: Anyway, yeah, we had fun.
[1573.33] Tony: I went out after half a day and went mountain biking to clear my system out.
[1580.33] Tony: But poor Coco.
[1582.33] Tony: She's on my bed at the moment.
[1583.33] Tony: She snipped her blooming dew claw again and ripped that out.
[1587.33] Tony: So that stopped us from, I think we only done about four miles.
[1592.33] Tony: And then we had to cycle back who I was with.
[1597.33] Stephen: Four miles is still pretty impressive for a dog with legs that short.
[1601.33] Tony: Well, she does 15.
[1603.33] Tony: And on a normal day, she'd do 10.
[1605.33] Tony: And legs are only about this long.
[1607.33] Stephen: I know.
[1608.33] Tony: She goes like the clappers though.
[1610.33] Tony: So yeah, we're going to have probably a week off now.
[1614.33] Stephen: You should put a step counter on there sometimes.
[1616.33] Stephen: See what the step count is.
[1618.33] Tony: It would be mental.
[1620.33] Tony: Yeah, it would be mental.
[1623.33] Tony: Yeah, so no flying for me.
[1625.33] Tony: I haven't done anything like that.
[1627.33] Tony: I've only been using my little DJI drone for work really.
[1634.33] Tony: A bit of work, using it for work and that's it.
[1637.33] Tony: No other flying.
[1639.33] Tony: Even my mum's got really good team too, do you?
[1645.33] Tony: Don't call me.
[1647.33] Stephen: I did it last week by the sound of it then.
[1650.33] Tony: Well, I've still got to do Frank's.
[1653.33] Tony: I've still got to get over to Frank's and sort his guttering out.
[1657.33] Tony: That down pipe, yeah.
[1659.33] Tony: Like, oh my word.
[1660.33] Frank: Yeah, I feel like I might have to get into that down pipe somehow.
[1666.33] Stephen: We've got a shot of your home that looks homely, Frank.
[1669.33] Stephen: We've seen painted walls.
[1671.33] Stephen: It's not a burned out rack.
[1673.33] Stephen: It looks very nice.
[1674.33] Stephen: Don't turn the camera around.
[1676.33] Frank: Yeah, the camera is staying where it is at the moment.
[1680.33] Frank: But there's definitely been a lot of improvement since I last spoke, I guess.
[1686.33] Frank: So what level are you?
[1688.33] Stephen: Level one, you had a toilet.
[1690.33] Stephen: Level two, you had a fridge.
[1693.33] Frank: I've got heating now as well.
[1695.33] Frank: I've got lighting.
[1697.33] Frank: I've got blinds.
[1700.33] Frank: Awesome.
[1702.33] Stephen: Yeah.
[1703.33] Stephen: Good to hear it, man.
[1704.33] Frank: Yeah, it's progressing.
[1707.33] Frank: But I'm not quite at the point where I've dug out all my FPV stuff.
[1713.33] Frank: That's still hidden away.
[1715.33] Frank: Hence me struggling to find some solder.
[1719.33] Frank: It'll come eventually, somewhere.
[1722.33] Tony: Yeah, I think it's going to either be someone wanting me to do something,
[1728.33] Tony: paid work, or it's just going to be spring before I go out again.
[1734.33] Frank: I think it's been, it was pretty warm today, but it was very windy.
[1741.33] Frank: Yes, it's been windy.
[1744.33] Frank: Stephen, have you made it up to Race Castle?
[1746.33] Frank: You were talking about that a while ago.
[1748.33] Stephen: No, I've been lousy.
[1750.33] Stephen: Yeah.
[1752.33] Tony: It looks good, what Jim's done, doesn't it?
[1755.33] Stephen: Yeah, I've got to go up there.
[1756.33] Stephen: I've got a whole load of whoops.
[1757.33] Stephen: I was wanting to build a little 35mm one as well just for giggles
[1761.33] Stephen: because I've had these 35mm frames.
[1764.33] Stephen: I've got a whole thing of whoops.
[1765.33] Stephen: I just don't fly them very much.
[1767.33] Stephen: I think I'd be terrible once I get there, but I do want to have a look around.
[1770.33] Stephen: Yeah, so I rebuilt one of my five inches.
[1773.33] Stephen: And I want to have actually made this.
[1776.33] Stephen: I've got to take that out.
[1777.33] Stephen: And then I've got another five inch.
[1779.33] Stephen: I was going to finally build a FedEx one.
[1782.33] Stephen: And that's been sitting there kind of glaring at me for ages.
[1785.33] Stephen: It's just, it's a lot of stuff to get around to do.
[1788.33] Stephen: But yeah, so far, so good.
[1790.33] Stephen: I've been tracking a lot of the HD OSD stuff for B to Flight 4.4.
[1795.33] Stephen: And been spending a lot of time reading about that and relaying information
[1800.33] Stephen: and drawing some diagrams, doing documentation and other fascinating things
[1805.33] Stephen: just to try and grease the wheels a little bit.
[1809.33] Stephen: I don't know what I'm going to do.
[1810.33] Stephen: So yeah, I'm not going to fly, unfortunately.
[1812.33] Tony: When I have to start flying again, I'm going to, everything's going to be out of date.
[1817.33] Tony: You can still fly it, all right.
[1819.33] Tony: It's just not going to be on.
[1821.33] Frank: As long as it works, don't update anything.
[1824.33] Frank: No, I'm not going to update anything.
[1825.33] Stephen: I was thinking about digging out a really old quad just for a giggle
[1827.33] Stephen: because I know I've got some proper just crap wear down there.
[1831.33] Frank: As long as you haven't updated for at least a month.
[1833.33] Stephen: No, no way longer.
[1835.33] Stephen: So I've got an Eosheen Lizard 105S, which was a very basic kind of, it had vertical arms
[1843.33] Stephen: and it was weird.
[1845.33] Stephen: It was an old Eosheen Bind and Fly with like 2.4 inch props and 1104 motors.
[1852.33] Stephen: And it had a 720p DVR that made everything look turquoise.
[1857.33] Stephen: And it was just quite basic and included lots of anodized purple aluminium metal parts.
[1866.33] Stephen: It was just a really weird frame.
[1868.33] Stephen: The vertical arms, purple metal all over it and it rattled and wobbled a lot.
[1872.33] Stephen: And I thought I might get that out for a bit of a giggle and see what it's like to fly again.
[1876.33] Tony: We should do something on it.
[1878.33] Tony: Like an old fly thing.
[1881.33] Stephen: Yeah, because Jack got me the, alone me the Wobble Copter, the Museum Co-opter.
[1888.33] Stephen: I've got to try and fly some more.
[1890.33] Stephen: I'm kind of stuck a little bit because it's an XT60 and all my XT60 packs are success.
[1895.33] Stephen: And it will be on fire if I do that.
[1898.33] Stephen: It will just explode and you'll be picking bits of silicone out your face and beard.
[1906.33] Stephen: It won't be fun.
[1907.33] Stephen: So I need to get an adapter.
[1909.33] Stephen: I probably should desold because if we want to give it to Cole, I've got to leave the XT60 on it.
[1914.33] Stephen: I'll have to dig out an adapter and put some little 4S.
[1918.33] Stephen: I think I might have a 900 4S, which would probably be okay for those quite tame motors.
[1925.33] Stephen: Yeah, give that a bit more of a thrashing.
[1927.33] Tony: The thing is, it weighs a load from all the hardware in it, like four bolts per arm.
[1935.33] Tony: It's got more anchorage than the arm can even take because the arm's only like two mil bloody carbon.
[1943.33] Stephen: The arms are weird looking.
[1945.33] Stephen: They're very, yeah, that's the first thing that got me.
[1948.33] Stephen: I was looking like, in profile, why are the arms just so, they're very wide, but they're so thin.
[1954.33] Stephen: It's unbelievable.
[1955.33] Stephen: So all the carbon is so thin.
[1957.33] Stephen: Very odd.
[1958.33] Tony: That's what it was like back then.
[1960.33] UNKNOWN: Yeah, yeah.
[1961.33] Stephen: Intuitively, you'd be like, it's going through the air like this.
[1965.33] Stephen: You want it to be thicker this way than this way because that's the aerodynamic profile of the quad.
[1973.33] Tony: Yeah, but what it was was your ESCs were that wide.
[1980.33] Tony: Yeah, that's right.
[1982.33] Tony: That is absolutely right.
[1985.33] Tony: It was the size of the ESCs back then until little bees come along.
[1989.33] Tony: Our ESCs used to sit on the arms because there was no four in ones back then, was there?
[1996.33] Tony: Curious.
[1997.33] Tony: Yeah, there were, but they would just explode around.
[2000.33] Tony: Yeah, if they were, they weren't very good.
[2003.33] Tony: Yeah, that's exactly why it was like that because they were so wide.
[2008.33] Stephen: I've got a new cheapo AIO that was 40 quid from a company who I shan't promote because they're a bit pants.
[2014.33] Stephen: But an F7 AIO with a 40 amp ESC in a 25 mil board.
[2020.33] Stephen: And then you look at that stack, it's just like, wow, it's got the FC and then four ESCs.
[2027.33] Stephen: And then there's the OSD off to the side and you just look at the amount of kit on there,
[2032.33] Stephen: the amount of silicon versus like a single all-in-one that's got 40 amp ESCs and that's 20 amp.
[2039.33] Stephen: It's mind blowing.
[2043.33] Frank: This episode was recorded in front of a live online audience, downloaded and edited to make sense when it played audio only,
[2049.33] Frank: censored to please the iTunes people, hosted on the internet, forwarded through to your podcast provider,
[2054.33] Frank: downloaded, playing on your device and is now playing in your ears.
[2058.33] Frank: All thanks to our Patreons.
[2060.33] Frank: Consider joining them and you'll also get other online benefits.
[2063.33] Frank: Find out more at patreon.com forward slash let's drone out.
[2069.33] Tony: What's Caroline said there?
[2071.33] Tony: I can't see because there's a big, stupid heart in the way on my mobile phone.
[2076.33] Tony: Oh yeah.
[2077.33] Tony: I love how you can get them.
[2079.33] Tony: Read it to the audio listeners.
[2081.33] Stephen: I love how you can get a replica Aliens Marine for your shooting fin.
[2086.33] Stephen: Snowwolf Aliens M41A pulse rifle.
[2089.33] Stephen: Pulse rifle.
[2090.33] Stephen: Shooting fin?
[2091.33] Stephen: What's a shooting fin tone?
[2092.33] Stephen: Fun.
[2093.33] Stephen: Fun, yeah.
[2095.33] Tony: Oh, okay.
[2096.33] Tony: That's the dyslexic people.
[2098.33] Tony: They can call their correct nonsense.
[2101.33] Tony: I don't know what a shooting fin is.
[2103.33] Tony: I remember Tony was texting me and Frank looked over and was like, what's he saying?
[2109.33] Tony: And then I had to translate the dyslexic.
[2112.33] Tony: And I was like, I see nothing wrong here.
[2115.33] Tony: It's exactly the same as my dad if my old man texts me.
[2121.33] Tony: It's right though.
[2123.33] Tony: I'll just go, oh yeah, I don't know exactly what you mean.
[2126.33] Tony: Yeah, as long as the beginning and end are all right, and we just kind of just...
[2133.33] Tony: Just stumble on, keep going.
[2135.33] Tony: Yeah, pretty much.
[2137.33] Tony: Some of the texts Tony sent me are horrendous.
[2141.33] Tony: I understand this.
[2143.33] Tony: He's actually my online dating profile then.
[2146.33] Tony: Oh, yeah, I know.
[2149.33] Tony: And when I text people, that's why you just see them, oh, after one day they've disappeared.
[2155.33] Frank: I definitely, when I get a text from Tony, I will definitely stare at it for a while.
[2161.33] Frank: Eventually I'll get it.
[2163.33] Frank: There have been a few times where I have had to ask for clarification because I'm just like, no, I don't know what that means.
[2171.33] Tony: It's a mix between spelling, can't be asked with full stops or any punctuation, and dyslexia, and trying to do stuff fast and like cutting down.
[2183.33] Tony: It's challenging.
[2184.33] Tony: Are you okay?
[2186.33] Tony: You know all that schmellarchy.
[2189.33] Tony: Yeah, so I do apologize.
[2192.33] Stephen: Guess they're in the end by the sound of it.
[2194.33] Frank: Now that the live captions on Windows works quite well now.
[2201.33] Frank: So when Tony sends me like a voice message, I'll just play it over there.
[2207.33] Tony: What's wrong with my voice messages?
[2210.33] Frank: I can't play them out loud in the office.
[2213.33] Tony: Oh, I don't swear quite a lot without even realizing.
[2216.33] Tony: Yeah, I get it.
[2219.33] Tony: You got it right there.
[2221.33] Tony: Sorry.
[2223.33] Frank: Also, first, along with that my led board, fossils sent a freebie along with it of a frame.
[2234.33] Frank: Holy crap.
[2236.33] Frank: FSGX 210.
[2238.33] Tony: Oh, look at that old school thing.
[2241.33] Tony: Is that plastic?
[2242.33] Tony: Yeah.
[2243.33] Tony: Yeah, plastic.
[2244.33] Tony: Fantastic.
[2245.33] Tony: Interesting.
[2246.33] Frank: You know, I'd have definitely gone for the gravity just for the sort of OG.
[2257.33] Frank: I don't know what to do with the FSGX.
[2261.33] Frank: It works out what I want to do with it.
[2263.33] Frank: So any suggestions?
[2266.33] Tony: Top mounted battery, that's all I'll say.
[2270.33] Tony: Oh, we mount it on the bottom.
[2273.33] Tony: It's got the XC60 on the bottom.
[2276.33] Tony: Do you remember when he was selling them across the country?
[2281.33] Tony: He couldn't cut them as quick as he was selling them.
[2284.33] Tony: Well, across the world.
[2286.33] Tony: He was going Canada and everywhere.
[2289.33] Tony: Oh, look, I just said Canada and it's in the chat.
[2292.33] Stephen: Yeah, so I get that one that it's polycarbonate that Caroline's saying.
[2297.33] Stephen: Yeah, I've seen some of these and it does look like a really neat idea.
[2300.33] Stephen: But why is no one else doing polycarbonate?
[2303.33] Stephen: Is it just an absolute hassle to work with?
[2306.33] Tony: It's not polycarbonate.
[2307.33] Tony: It's milk cartons, basically.
[2309.33] Tony: HDPE, yeah.
[2311.33] Stephen: Right, OK.
[2312.33] Stephen: That's slightly bendier, isn't it?
[2315.33] Stephen: They were tough, though.
[2317.33] Stephen: Yeah.
[2318.33] Stephen: High density poly something?
[2320.33] Stephen: Ethylene.
[2321.33] Tony: Ethylene, yeah.
[2323.33] Tony: It's not the frame that bends.
[2325.33] Tony: It's your sexuality, Moony.
[2327.33] Tony: All right, someone needs to kick tailspin out of the chat.
[2332.33] Tony: Give him a strike.
[2334.33] Stephen: No.
[2336.33] Stephen: What's a ragger E for the win?
[2338.33] Stephen: What's a ragger E?
[2340.33] Tony: No comment.
[2342.33] Tony: It was basically, I'll tell you the truth.
[2345.33] Tony: This is usually safe for the bonus chat.
[2348.33] Tony: But it was a gobsh**t who worked for fossil.
[2351.33] Tony: And then during his off time, he was cutting his own frames.
[2356.33] Tony: And basically ripped them off.
[2360.33] Tony: And then got into bed with Drew and was selling them through right or right.
[2366.33] Tony: And that is the story of Raggy.
[2369.33] Tony: That's it.
[2370.33] Tony: Wow.
[2372.33] Tony: That's odd.
[2374.33] Tony: Yeah.
[2375.33] Tony: And hang on.
[2376.33] Tony: Just for the legal notice, that view is not only my own, but it's fact.
[2385.33] Tony: And any of the other views expressed in the show are personal.
[2389.33] Tony: Do not may reflect the view of the others except Tony agrees with me.
[2394.33] Stephen: The last thing we heard like Rotoriot went from being owned by the main Redcat holding
[2400.33] Stephen: company to being moved to a separate holding company away from Teal and everything without
[2406.33] Stephen: the big name.
[2407.33] Stephen: What's happening to Rotoriot?
[2409.33] Stephen: I haven't watched anything for about a year and a half.
[2411.33] Stephen: I haven't even done anything in a very long time.
[2413.33] Stephen: Flight tests are still kicking out the occasional thing.
[2415.33] Stephen: Rotoriot basically stopped.
[2418.33] Tony: Who knew he'd tailspin?
[2421.33] Tony: That's not fair.
[2422.33] Tony: I asked someone to do it.
[2424.33] Tony: And Richard Morick got it.
[2426.33] Tony: Thank you.
[2427.33] Tony: It's only 300 seconds.
[2429.33] Tony: It'll learn him.
[2431.33] Stephen: It's nice that they've got a bit of money and they can have fun.
[2434.33] Stephen: It looks like a flying club that has got a bit of money, Rotoriot.
[2439.33] Stephen: I'm not sure they're really creating anything, but they're having a bit of fun.
[2443.33] Tony: Well, I used to listen to our podcasts and then a week later there was what we talked
[2449.33] Tony: about on their show.
[2451.33] Tony: Boom, boom.
[2452.33] Tony: Great minds.
[2454.33] Tony: Yeah, exactly.
[2456.33] Stephen: The Steve Jobs quote you mean?
[2459.33] Stephen: Well, I mean, yeah, I guess.
[2463.33] Stephen: Genius steals, nice people give attribution, something like that.
[2468.33] Tony: Yeah, maybe.
[2471.33] Tony: Who knows?
[2473.33] Tony: It's hard to say.
[2474.33] Tony: The tailspin don't get back in the chat.
[2477.33] Tony: This was 300 seconds.
[2479.33] Stephen: Oh, geez.
[2480.33] Stephen: Who's banned tailspin?
[2482.33] Stephen: Sorry, no.
[2484.33] Stephen: Don't speak a happy moderation.
[2486.33] Tony: The tailspin's the first one in the chat as well today.
[2489.33] Tony: I know.
[2490.33] Tony: He's literally waiting and we've just...
[2492.33] Tony: At least reduce it to like 10 seconds.
[2496.33] Tony: Oh, my word.
[2497.33] Tony: He's just got rid of outrage.
[2501.33] Tony: He'll be back.
[2502.33] Tony: I know.
[2503.33] Tony: Poor tailspin.
[2505.33] Tony: Well, at least we're talking about it.
[2507.33] Tony: Richard Warwick.
[2508.33] Tony: Massey done it, tailspin.
[2510.33] Tony: Sony made me do it.
[2512.33] Tony: Hopefully.
[2514.33] Tony: It's like outraged.
[2517.33] Tony: I know.
[2518.33] Tony: Poor guy suffers this show each and every week.
[2523.33] Tony: He does live in a nice, hot country.
[2525.33] Tony: It's probably still hot now.
[2527.33] Tony: Or at least warm.
[2529.33] Tony: He can fly every day.
[2530.33] Tony: We can't.
[2531.33] Tony: Is he back yet?
[2533.33] Tony: I'm starting to feel bad now.
[2535.33] Stephen: I know.
[2536.33] Stephen: He should.
[2537.33] Stephen: He should.
[2538.33] Stephen: Looking at all the videos Caroline posted.
[2543.33] Stephen: Praise for Jack's rare lights there.
[2547.33] Stephen: And more little stuff.
[2548.33] Stephen: I don't know what these gliders were.
[2549.33] Stephen: I thought they were little gliders when I bought them, but they're not.
[2552.33] Stephen: I've got to get around.
[2553.33] Stephen: You've actually got to go too little to get them.
[2556.33] Stephen: I think I've built like five quads since I bought this plane now.
[2559.33] Stephen: I've got to build the bloody plane.
[2561.33] Stephen: Sitting there in the same place it was when I showed our camera when it first arrived.
[2567.54] Tony: Yeah.
[2568.54] Tony: How is your receiver woes?
[2574.54] Tony: Because that's what you got stuck on last time.
[2577.54] Stephen: I didn't get stuck as much to have a hissy fit.
[2582.54] Stephen: And the hissy fit has just kind of caused a mental block.
[2585.54] Stephen: I think I really want to just put a flight controller in there so I don't have to worry about...
[2592.54] Stephen: Because right now my radio has no trims.
[2594.54] Stephen: None of my radios have trims.
[2596.54] Stephen: All the trims are mapped as momentary switches.
[2599.54] Stephen: So I'd have to re-enable the trims on one or more radios,
[2602.54] Stephen: change to a completely different flight mode and all that stuff.
[2605.54] Stephen: I'm not sure I can be asked.
[2607.54] Stephen: So I'll probably just put a flight controller in there and fly it with an FC.
[2611.54] Stephen: And then I could just keep it untrimmed and I'll just do the trimming on the FC as God intended.
[2618.54] Stephen: Something, something.
[2620.54] Stephen: It can go fly itself like a happy little plane.
[2623.54] Stephen: And I can sit there on the ground and go,
[2625.54] Stephen: oh look, I've made it go in a circle with INF or something.
[2630.54] Stephen: I'll stand there with my sandals on and I'll watch it go in a circle.
[2634.54] Stephen: I'll be like, mission accomplished.
[2636.54] Tony: How big is the glider jack? Can you get it out?
[2640.54] Tony: That's what she said.
[2642.54] Tony: Well, is it really...
[2644.54] Tony: It's just the way I'm sitting.
[2646.54] Tony: It's just the way my trousers rock up.
[2649.54] Tony: Oh dear.
[2652.54] Stephen: So what's Jack's glider?
[2654.54] Stephen: What did you buy man?
[2655.54] Stephen: I heard you talking about the glider when I dropped it.
[2657.54] Tony: No, no.
[2658.54] Tony: My friend Tom gave it to me.
[2661.54] Stephen: It's a Christmas present.
[2663.54] Stephen: It's pretty chunky.
[2665.54] Tony: It's a lot of foam.
[2670.03] Tony: But it comes with a more substantial manual than both RC products.
[2677.03] Frank: Look at that.
[2679.03] Stephen: You get two pages with each sheet and half of that is how to find an XM Plus that they haven't included with it.
[2684.03] Frank: Hello Bobby.
[2685.03] Frank: It's all the regulations that you've got to be aware of before you throw in.
[2689.03] Frank: Oh right.
[2690.03] Frank: That looks about right, Jack.
[2692.03] Tony: Is it being 300 seconds yet?
[2694.03] Tony: Is Tailspin...
[2697.03] Tony: Maybe you should read the instructions, you idiot.
[2701.03] Tony: Very square wings.
[2704.03] Tony: It can't tell which is the leading edge.
[2706.03] Stephen: Let's just sort of chew it and see which tastes like foam.
[2710.03] Stephen: No, that is clearly the leading edge.
[2712.03] Tony: Tailspin.
[2713.03] Tony: 300 seconds is five minutes.
[2716.03] Tony: Tailspin...
[2718.03] Tony: Hang on.
[2719.03] Tony: Add as a moderator and then...
[2721.03] Tony: Hang on.
[2722.03] Tony: Remove moderator.
[2724.03] Tony: Tailspin.
[2725.03] Tony: Get Clive.
[2726.03] Tony: Get Clive.
[2727.03] Tony: Get your own back.
[2729.03] Tony: Don't encourage...
[2731.03] Tony: Jack, this is the internet.
[2733.03] Stephen: Do not encourage people flaming each other.
[2736.03] Tony: No, it's just fine.
[2737.03] Tony: I'll re-add them.
[2739.03] Tony: Oh my word.
[2740.03] Tony: Was it Richard Warwick?
[2741.03] Tony: Hang on.
[2742.03] Stephen: Well, it's been nice being on the show for the last episode where Jack encouraged our long-time fans to flame each other.
[2749.03] Tony: Sorry Clive.
[2751.03] Tony: I didn't do it.
[2753.03] Tony: Oh my...
[2756.03] Tony: Did he...
[2758.03] Tony: Did he...
[2759.03] Tony: Has he...
[2760.03] Tony: Has he blocked?
[2762.03] Tony: No, Richard's still there.
[2764.03] Tony: I'm not going to put that in there.
[2766.03] Tony: Let's measure it, phone.
[2769.03] Tony: Let's just measure it.
[2773.03] Tony: I like the new wing.
[2775.03] Tony: That's totally different to that last couple of years ago.
[2778.03] Tony: Is it?
[2782.85] Tony: Yeah, they were round.
[2785.85] Stephen: Yeah, I thought I'd got one when I picked up one of these little scruffy boys.
[2791.85] Stephen: And mine is...
[2792.85] Stephen: 850.
[2794.85] Stephen: Much tinier.
[2795.85] Stephen: This is a 400.
[2797.85] Stephen: Little wing.
[2798.85] Stephen: Ooh.
[2800.85] Tony: See?
[2801.85] Tony: That's the one I...
[2802.85] Tony: Get a lot funky, honey.
[2803.85] Tony: Oh, that's a very small one.
[2806.85] Stephen: That's different wings.
[2808.85] Stephen: Oh yeah, it's completely different profile.
[2810.85] Stephen: Completely, utterly different.
[2812.85] Tony: How big is it, Jack? How long was it?
[2814.85] Tony: Did you say?
[2815.85] Tony: 850 mil.
[2817.85] Tony: Or...
[2819.85] Stephen: If you are a...
[2822.85] Stephen: Or about a third of a league.
[2825.85] Stephen: Yeah.
[2826.85] Stephen: Three chains.
[2827.85] Frank: And a furler.
[2828.85] Stephen: Yeah, three chain.
[2829.85] Stephen: 33 and a half inches.
[2832.85] Stephen: One turnip.
[2833.85] Stephen: One and a third turnip tosses.
[2836.85] Tony: Four pawns.
[2838.85] Tony: The new version is...
[2841.85] Tony: Oh, I can't read because of the stupid hearts.
[2843.85] Tony: I'm going to have to put it on the...
[2845.85] Tony: On the...
[2846.85] Tony: What?
[2847.85] Tony: Thing. There you go.
[2848.85] Tony: The new version is a bit better than the old.
[2850.85] Tony: The little...
[2851.85] Tony: One sold is known as the XL version barrel.
[2856.85] Tony: So, has it got...
[2858.85] Tony: Has it got any flaps traced into that at all?
[2861.85] Tony: No, no flaps.
[2863.85] Tony: No, it's nothing visible.
[2865.85] Stephen: No flaps traced in.
[2867.85] Stephen: But the surfaces were very small.
[2869.85] Stephen: They traced in, like, about maybe an inch worth of control surface,
[2874.85] Stephen: which didn't look like enough.
[2876.85] Stephen: Although, obviously, not in the know.
[2879.85] Stephen: Frank.
[2880.85] Tony: Yes.
[2882.85] Tony: When's your weird, you know...
[2888.85] Tony: Light for it.
[2889.85] Tony: The thing that we can't talk about.
[2891.85] Tony: 3D printer going to get up and running.
[2895.85] Frank: Oh, my belt printer.
[2897.85] Frank: Yeah.
[2898.85] Tony: Are you just going to sell it?
[2901.85] Frank: No, I'll get it up and running.
[2904.85] Frank: Probably what I'll do, because it's what I usually do with 3D printers,
[2908.85] Frank: is I'll get it working and get it tuned and then never touch it again.
[2914.85] Frank: Boo.
[2917.85] Tony: People are saying you've got to put a carbon sparrow along the length of the body.
[2921.85] Tony: Jack.
[2923.85] Tony: Of what?
[2925.85] Tony: Apparently, that's what people would do when they're doing the little gliders.
[2930.85] Tony: The length of the body.
[2932.85] Tony: Is the body really that flexible?
[2935.85] Tony: I'm not sure.
[2936.85] Tony: You'll have to give it a...
[2937.85] Tony: I don't know.
[2938.85] Stephen: It depends if you want to...
[2939.85] Stephen: Oh, yeah.
[2941.85] Tony: And the balance is immediate.
[2944.85] Frank: Jack is flexing it.
[2946.85] Frank: You can almost sort of...
[2949.85] Frank: Getting almost 180 degrees out of that.
[2953.85] Stephen: Jack's trying to get something else out of it now.
[2956.85] Tony: Someone's like a picture.
[2959.85] Tony: I think it's a bouncy one now.
[2962.85] Tony: That's a thumbnail and a half, that one.
[2965.85] Tony: There we are.
[2966.85] Tony: You could just be like Tony and...
[2970.85] Stephen: You're going to get a sight mounted on top, sort of.
[2973.85] Stephen: So what are you going to do once you put this together, man?
[2976.85] Stephen: What's it going to be?
[2977.85] Stephen: Is it going to be a super complex plane or is it just going to be MVP?
[2980.85] Stephen: Get it in the air.
[2982.85] Tony: I don't know.
[2984.85] Tony: I haven't got that.
[2985.85] Tony: What do you need?
[2986.85] Tony: Are you going to use wheels and take off from the ground?
[2989.85] Tony: Are you just going to launch it?
[2990.85] Tony: What do you want to do?
[2991.85] Tony: No, it's made of foam.
[2992.85] Tony: There's no need.
[2993.85] Tony: If it's foam, it doesn't need wheels.
[2997.85] Tony: No.
[2998.85] Tony: Jack stroking his cockpit.
[3001.85] Tony: That's one way of looking at it.
[3004.85] Frank: So Caroline Tyler is saying she's slightly over-moted hers
[3008.85] Frank: in that she was outpacing an EDF jet last time she saw it.
[3012.85] Frank: What?
[3013.85] Tony: Well done.
[3014.85] Tony: What are you talking about?
[3017.85] Tony: Can we see if you got any evidence of this so we can play it on the...
[3022.85] Stephen: Get some DVR, Caroline.
[3024.85] Stephen: We want to see you ripping past the EDF.
[3026.85] Tony: Let's put something in the chat so we can play it.
[3030.85] Tony: Do it.
[3031.85] Tony: Have a look.
[3032.85] Tony: I'm trying to get the weird sort of double-molded hatch off it
[3036.85] Tony: because that's where I'm going to have to...
[3038.85] Tony: I don't think it comes off, does it?
[3039.85] Stephen: Yeah, I had to get a knife dug into mine.
[3043.85] Stephen: It's like the heat fused the cockpit on.
[3047.85] Stephen: It did go, but if I had to apply so much force,
[3051.85] Stephen: it was like I thought it was just going to tear the thing in half,
[3054.85] Stephen: and eventually it went...
[3056.85] Tony: Don't ruin it already.
[3058.85] Tony: No, I mean, it's part of the process.
[3062.85] Stephen: I've gone from Jack stroking his cockpit to...
[3065.85] Stephen: Jack torturing his cockpit now.
[3068.85] Stephen: Don't waste it.
[3070.85] Tony: I'm not, I'm not.
[3072.85] Tony: I'm very grateful for this.
[3074.85] Tony: Thank you, Tom.
[3076.85] Tony: You lovely, lovely man.
[3078.85] Stephen: So trying to dissolve the seam between the black cockpit foam
[3082.85] Stephen: and the blue fuselage foam in the hope that...
[3085.85] Stephen: Oh, that's undone.
[3086.85] Stephen: I did something.
[3087.85] Stephen: Did a thing.
[3088.85] Tony: I tell you what, man.
[3090.85] Tony: That was a squeak of victory.
[3092.85] Tony: Shady nose, I think, or two.
[3094.85] Tony: Come on, mate.
[3095.85] Tony: About...
[3097.85] Tony: About adjusting your cockpit.
[3100.85] Tony: Hmm.
[3102.85] Tony: That was just hot glued on.
[3106.16] Stephen: Steam it.
[3107.16] Stephen: I don't think steam is going to be the ass.
[3109.16] Stephen: Foam.
[3112.16] Stephen: Melt it off.
[3114.16] Tony: Superglue.
[3116.16] Tony: No, that's a tone.
[3117.16] Tony: Don't want to pick up the wrong bottle.
[3121.16] Tony: It's a pile of Google.
[3123.16] Tony: Completely different to this bottle.
[3126.16] Tony: Don't you tell me you've named these.
[3129.16] Stephen: For the love of God, we need to buy Jack a dime open.
[3131.16] Stephen: It's nothing on these.
[3133.16] Tony: Do you sniff it first or what?
[3135.16] Tony: Oh, he's ripped up both.
[3137.16] Tony: Just no.
[3139.16] Tony: I wondered why it weighed a ton.
[3141.16] Tony: And what I can only describe as an M12 bolt is in...
[3146.16] Tony: Is that a little bolt?
[3148.16] Tony: That's from the leftover washer.
[3150.16] Tony: There you are.
[3151.16] Stephen: That is some foam.
[3152.16] Stephen: Are we able to fit the electrics in there with...
[3155.16] Stephen: It's no good.
[3156.16] Tony: It's Imperial.
[3157.16] Tony: Where the hell do you get an 8.8?
[3161.16] Tony: 8.8?
[3162.16] Tony: Wow.
[3163.16] Tony: Look at the thread on it, man.
[3165.16] Tony: That's more coarse than my sense of humour.
[3171.16] Tony: Oh, my word.
[3172.16] Stephen: There's a glider in the chat.
[3174.16] Stephen: Shady with the...
[3175.16] Stephen: What's an American bolt doing in a German supermarkets glider?
[3179.16] Stephen: The conspiracy thickens.
[3180.16] Tony: It might be Whitworth for all we know.
[3184.16] Tony: Thumbs up to anyone who got that old school reference.
[3188.16] Tony: Yeah, not me.
[3189.16] Tony: No.
[3190.16] Tony: Frank does.
[3191.16] Tony: Frank's had a good old yank on a Whitworth now and again,
[3195.16] Tony: isn't he?
[3196.16] Frank: Oh, yeah.
[3197.16] Frank: That was like one of my best selling features of industrial 3D printing was making Imperial
[3204.16] Frank: stuff that it was cheaper for us to print it than it was to get it shipped over from the OS.
[3209.16] Tony: What?
[3210.16] Tony: That's funny.
[3212.16] Tony: That is crazy.
[3214.16] Stephen: Well, not to mention the time.
[3216.16] Stephen: I remember the last time I got something shipped from the US.
[3218.16] Stephen: I waited three weeks for it to travel the colossal distance from Manhattan to New Jersey.
[3224.16] Stephen: About four miles as the crow flies.
[3228.16] Tony: Yeah.
[3229.16] Tony: It'll be interesting to see how much the editor hates me for all the balloon animal noises.
[3236.16] Tony: It's not that I can walk near a little bit.
[3239.16] Tony: It's just providing ambiance.
[3241.16] Tony: Ambiance?
[3242.16] Tony: That's one way of looking at it.
[3245.16] Tony: 888 is the grade of hardening.
[3248.16] Tony: I'm sorry.
[3249.16] Tony: The new one has an actual designated lump of metal.
[3256.91] Tony: Designed.
[3257.91] Tony: Oh, designed.
[3258.91] Tony: They all read that as exactly how you said that.
[3261.91] Tony: Yeah, I know.
[3263.91] Stephen: Designed.
[3264.91] Stephen: Oh, yeah.
[3265.91] Stephen: Providing vital translation services, guys.
[3268.91] Stephen: Yeah.
[3269.91] Tony: Don't use words in more than three syllables, or me and Tony will struggle.
[3276.91] Tony: Aye.
[3277.91] Tony: I don't know what to do with my new pet boat now.
[3280.91] Tony: I might get some of the old googly eyes off you, mate.
[3284.91] Tony: Yeah.
[3285.91] Tony: I know what you'll do.
[3287.91] Tony: You'll start drawing it, taking it around with you, taking photos.
[3291.91] Tony: Get a little lead for it.
[3293.91] Tony: Yeah, I know what you're like.
[3295.91] Tony: Make a little beard for it.
[3299.91] Stephen: So, 2023.
[3302.91] Stephen: Closing rapidly, guys.
[3304.91] Stephen: It is.
[3305.91] Stephen: What do we think is going to be around the corner?
[3308.91] Tony: DJI will make another goggle, and it won't be compatible with nothing,
[3312.91] Tony: so you have to spend another 10 grand.
[3315.91] Tony: They'll bring out 20 more drones.
[3319.91] Tony: Yeah.
[3320.91] Tony: That's my prediction.
[3323.91] Tony: Classification comes in, and the extension runs out,
[3326.91] Tony: and then we will all be arrested and hunted.
[3329.91] Tony: Yeah, that too.
[3330.91] Tony: Like the Hunger Games.
[3331.91] Stephen: Did anyone apply the secret decoder ring to the Geeksfonner video
[3335.91] Stephen: about classifications?
[3336.91] Stephen: It sounds like we went from having a plan with Europe
[3340.91] Stephen: to then saying we're out of Europe and we're out of plans,
[3343.91] Stephen: and, like, the plan is we don't have a plan.
[3347.91] Tony: That sounds like it.
[3348.91] Tony: That's the great British way.
[3349.91] Tony: I don't know what you're talking about.
[3351.91] Tony: Not having a plan is a plan.
[3353.91] Frank: Yeah, I don't know what's going on with the rig at the moment.
[3356.91] Frank: No.
[3357.91] Frank: Because, I mean, every time I hear something,
[3361.91] Frank: I'm like, oh, maybe now it will make sense again.
[3364.91] Frank: And just every time, it's just like another completely separate document
[3369.91] Frank: that's unrelated from everything else.
[3371.91] Frank: Yeah, just a contradiction.
[3373.91] Frank: It has a completely new arrangement of everything
[3375.91] Frank: and doesn't make anything any clearer.
[3377.91] Frank: And so, yeah, still ignore everything.
[3382.91] Frank: Just don't be a dick.
[3383.91] Frank: That's the only way I can see to play it
[3386.91] Frank: because there's just too many documents that...
[3389.91] Stephen: Wait for the government to change and maybe we'll get it together.
[3392.91] Stephen: Who knows?
[3393.91] Stephen: The current bunch don't seem to be providing any guidance.
[3396.91] Tony: I don't... on anything.
[3398.91] Tony: No.
[3401.91] Stephen: I assume he's gone rogue,
[3403.91] Stephen: but we've once again got a little misspelling.
[3405.91] Stephen: A little misspelling.
[3406.91] Stephen: I've gone rouge regarding drone laws.
[3408.91] Stephen: Maybe either a state of embarrassment
[3410.91] Stephen: or some fetching makeup that another skull's applied there.
[3413.91] Tony: Yeah.
[3414.91] Tony: What are we watching?
[3415.91] Tony: Is this Caroline's little glider?
[3417.91] Stephen: This is beating the pants off an EDS.
[3419.91] Tony: I believe so.
[3421.91] Tony: What's going on?
[3423.91] Tony: What's going on?
[3424.91] Tony: What's going on?
[3425.91] Tony: What's going on?
[3426.91] Tony: What's going on?
[3427.91] Tony: What's going on?
[3428.91] Tony: What's going on?
[3429.91] Tony: What's going on?
[3430.91] Tony: What's going on?
[3431.91] Tony: What's going on?
[3432.91] Tony: What's going on?
[3433.91] Tony: What's going on?
[3435.91] Tony: She should be on here more than we are.
[3437.91] Tony: She's, like, way more qualified.
[3440.91] Tony: Like, Caroline, do you want to buy let's drone out?
[3443.91] Frank: Do you want a job?
[3444.91] Tony: As long as you take this bowl, it's yours.
[3451.91] Tony: Right, if yours flies like that, Jack,
[3454.91] Tony: I'm going to be impressed.
[3455.91] Tony: Is there not going to fly like that?
[3457.91] Tony: I know it won't.
[3458.91] Frank: Even if it did fly like that,
[3460.91] Tony: if Jack was flying it, you wouldn't fly that out for very long.
[3463.91] Tony: Yeah, to be fair.
[3465.91] Tony: So, yeah, that's not going to ever look as good as that, is it?
[3470.91] Stephen: Something might be coming up soon.
[3473.91] Stephen: Jack kindly gave me his old quad.
[3475.91] Stephen: I think I should set Jack a challenge with some modern quad bits
[3479.91] Stephen: to try some modern quad bits.
[3482.91] Stephen: So, I've got a couple of bits and pieces I might send you, Jack,
[3486.91] Stephen: to reverse the challenge.
[3488.91] Stephen: What is that?
[3489.91] Stephen: That actually works.
[3490.91] Stephen: Stuff that actually works, yeah, exactly.
[3493.91] Tony: What do you mean it's up to date,
[3495.91] Tony: and I've got to update it every 10 minutes.
[3498.91] Tony: They don't have to update it.
[3500.91] Stephen: Explain to me.
[3501.91] Stephen: I'll flash it and send it to you,
[3502.91] Stephen: and then you'll just have to build it.
[3504.91] Tony: Why is there a new version of...
[3507.91] Tony: Anything, ever.
[3510.91] Tony: Wasn't 1995.
[3511.91] Tony: We only just had the old one.
[3514.91] Stephen: Can't we just fly on a Motorola 68000?
[3518.91] Frank: What Jack likes to do is find some hardware
[3522.91] Frank: that has been unsupported for so long
[3525.91] Frank: that he has to get everyone to go through their old backups
[3527.91] Frank: to find the bit of firmware that you need
[3530.91] Frank: to actually flash onto it to get it to work.
[3533.91] Stephen: You have to visit an antique dealer
[3534.91] Stephen: and look behind a set of Windsor chairs to find it.
[3538.91] Tony: My favourite thing to do is run over the flight controller
[3542.91] Tony: in my chair and then...
[3545.91] Tony: Look at that, that was perfect.
[3547.91] Tony: Nice flying, I know.
[3550.91] Tony: There's another one.
[3551.91] Tony: Twin motor little plane.
[3554.91] Tony: 28000 KV.
[3556.91] Stephen: Yes, Jack, I just thought I'd maybe send you something
[3558.91] Stephen: that's a little bit more up to date
[3560.91] Stephen: because you seem to like using the flight controllers
[3563.91] Stephen: as doormats.
[3564.91] Stephen: I thought maybe use another one just in case.
[3568.91] Stephen: How else would I not make my life easy?
[3572.91] Stephen: I saw you complain about VTXs
[3574.91] Stephen: and not being able to attach an old VTX to the 20mm mount
[3579.91] Stephen: so I've got a modern VTX.
[3581.91] Stephen: I thought I'd send you away as well.
[3583.91] Stephen: I know you don't like people flying DJI around you
[3586.91] Stephen: so I thought I'd maybe send you something
[3588.91] Stephen: that can punch louder than DJI in a 20mm factor as well.
[3592.91] Stephen: So you've got like a 1.3 watt VTX
[3595.91] Stephen: just to blow the DJI pilots out the sky.
[3598.91] Tony: I don't like 20mm as far as I can count.
[3603.91] Stephen: That was the size of the VTX mount on your frame, wasn't it,
[3606.91] Stephen: that you were trying to fit stuff to?
[3608.91] Tony: No, it's 30x30 but because I'm...
[3612.91] Tony: Oh, sorry.
[3614.91] Tony: It's fine.
[3615.91] Tony: It has got a 20x20 at the back
[3618.91] Tony: so you can put stuff there.
[3620.91] Tony: Well, this one's flying just as well, if not better.
[3623.91] Tony: Yeah, shiny, shiny, nice job.
[3626.91] Tony: Has it any ailerons though?
[3628.91] Frank: I think this one's just the twin motor one.
[3633.91] Frank: So I think this one has no severs possibly.
[3638.91] Tony: Just three channel.
[3640.91] Tony: One two channel either.
[3642.91] Tony: What are you going to do Jack?
[3644.91] Tony: I mean, yours is...
[3645.91] Tony: If you can fly it for more than...
[3648.91] Tony: Let's set you a challenge.
[3650.91] Tony: Right, I'm going to set you a challenge.
[3652.91] Tony: You've got to keep it up.
[3654.91] Tony: That's what she said.
[3655.91] Tony: For five minutes.
[3657.91] Tony: All right?
[3658.91] Tony: That's my challenge to you.
[3660.91] Tony: It's got to fly for at least five minutes.
[3663.91] Tony: In a straight line?
[3665.91] Tony: We can go in a straight line if you want to run after it
[3667.91] Tony: but I can't see that happening.
[3670.91] Tony: You could drive after it or something.
[3675.99] Tony: Five minute challenge.
[3676.99] Tony: It's got to stay in the air for that long.
[3678.99] Tony: You could just...
[3679.99] Stephen: Ailerons, elevator, two motor differential.
[3682.99] Stephen: That's that one.
[3683.99] Tony: Yeah, so no need for a rudder.
[3685.99] Tony: Whoa.
[3686.99] Tony: It has...
[3688.99] Tony: It picks up, doesn't it?
[3691.99] Tony: It's got potential for a rudder.
[3696.78] Tony: I don't know.
[3697.78] Tony: I don't know how I feel about it.
[3699.78] Tony: Tone.
[3701.78] Frank: If you wanted it to be a sort of very relaxed glider,
[3708.78] Frank: then just having elevator and rudder would do.
[3713.78] Frank: Yeah.
[3715.78] Frank: Hmm.
[3718.06] Tony: Yeah.
[3720.57] Tony: Well, look, Frank allows you.
[3724.57] Tony: As it says, I have a few red bottoms and an A's of 32
[3728.57] Tony: if you need spare parts.
[3730.57] Tony: But do you have any motors?
[3733.57] Tony: Yeah, that's what we want.
[3736.57] Tony: Red bottoms and...
[3738.57] Tony: That went straight over his head, Stephen.
[3740.57] Tony: Never mind.
[3742.57] Tony: Got any motors?
[3743.57] Tony: Yeah, I know.
[3744.57] Tony: Bank and yank.
[3746.57] Tony: I mean, if there's a guy who's ever got a red bottom,
[3749.57] Tony: it'd be a fucking joke.
[3754.57] Tony: Yeah, true.
[3755.57] Tony: Yep, send him in, Hazard.
[3757.57] Tony: I think Stephen needs to compile an A's 32 and get on it.
[3764.57] Stephen: I compiled the firmware.
[3766.57] Stephen: I added in the BL Heli pass-through that was taken out
[3770.57] Stephen: and I took out something else that we definitely didn't need.
[3773.57] Stephen: I think it was barometer support.
[3775.57] Stephen: Because there's no room on there with like beta flight 32.
[3778.57] Stephen: They took out the four and one ESC flashing
[3782.57] Stephen: and put it in barometer support.
[3785.57] Stephen: So, yeah, I've built the firmware for it.
[3787.57] Stephen: It's just...
[3788.57] Stephen: It flies.
[3791.57] Stephen: It's kind of an effort.
[3793.57] Stephen: It's got this weird OSD and I can't configure the OSD
[3798.57] Stephen: unless I somehow connect a serial port to the OSD,
[3802.57] Stephen: which I can't do because the only serial port
[3805.57] Stephen: is being used by the USB port,
[3808.57] Stephen: which is also connected to the same...
[3810.57] Stephen: That's what one of these is for.
[3812.57] Stephen: It's just like brain melt.
[3814.57] Tony: Have you not got an FTDI adapter?
[3817.57] Tony: Yeah, I've got an FTDI adapter, Jack.
[3820.57] Tony: Yep, you just plug it in.
[3822.57] Tony: That's why it's got pins on it.
[3824.57] Stephen: Plug it in where?
[3827.57] Stephen: Plug it in where?
[3828.57] Stephen: I can't even see a pin out on the top of this thing.
[3831.57] Tony: Yeah, on the...
[3832.57] Tony: No, there is no pin out.
[3834.57] Tony: So, show it to me.
[3837.57] Tony: Like...
[3839.57] Stephen: I mean, I could find a diagram,
[3841.57] Stephen: but I wasn't even sure what the board was called,
[3843.57] Stephen: which caused me issues trying to find a pin out.
[3846.57] Tony: Hang on.
[3847.57] Stephen: Let me...
[3849.57] Stephen: If you send me a product page for it,
[3851.57] Stephen: I'm sure I can find the diagram,
[3853.57] Stephen: plug it into an FTDI, which I've got in the drawer over there.
[3858.07] Tony: Oh, it's a history lesson.
[3860.07] Stephen: I just couldn't believe I had to unplug the OSD
[3862.07] Stephen: and figure it, because...
[3866.07] Stephen: Just why.
[3868.07] Stephen: So, my gut reaction when I was given this was,
[3871.07] Stephen: right, that's got to go in the bin then.
[3873.07] Stephen: We need at least an F3 on here,
[3874.07] Stephen: because it's got two serial ports.
[3876.07] Stephen: I can't configure the OSD unless I unplug it.
[3879.07] Stephen: I just like it.
[3881.07] Stephen: Try it and you'll like it.
[3884.07] Tony: Yeah.
[3885.07] Tony: Oh, flight.
[3886.07] Tony: You'll fly it.
[3888.07] Tony: Right, here you go.
[3889.07] Tony: This is oscalang.com.
[3891.07] Tony: And the good thing is, about this website,
[3895.07] Tony: is not only is it up to date,
[3897.07] Tony: but it's got really old s*** in there as well.
[3901.07] Tony: And that is what you want.
[3903.07] Tony: You plug it at the top there.
[3905.07] Tony: Okay.
[3906.07] Tony: So, you'll notice that the two on the side,
[3912.32] Tony: all the pins face downwards,
[3916.32] Tony: and then you want to plug it in this top one here.
[3921.32] Tony: Okay, okay.
[3924.32] Tony: So, look for the two pins on the side,
[3927.32] Tony: and you want to do the top.
[3931.32] Tony: And that goes straight into your FTDI adapter.
[3935.32] Tony: And if it doesn't light up,
[3938.32] Tony: turn it round the other way,
[3940.32] Tony: and then plug it in.
[3942.32] Stephen: The trouble also is, because this OSD is a bit weird,
[3945.32] Stephen: it doesn't respond the same way
[3948.32] Stephen: as the normal beta flight stick commands.
[3951.32] Stephen: It was all a bit different to the stick commands
[3954.32] Stephen: that I've seen on everything else.
[3957.32] Stephen: So, it has some PID tuning stuff,
[3960.32] Stephen: and it has a menu, but it doesn't seem to enter the menu
[3963.32] Stephen: using the same stick commands as I've seen before.
[3968.32] Tony: Yeah.
[3969.32] Tony: Don't follow this bit.
[3971.32] Tony: I've got the new one.
[3972.32] Tony: I'll give you the key for it.
[3975.32] Stephen: I've got one that they've released for you.
[3979.32] Stephen: There you go, look.
[3980.32] Tony: To access the built-in OSD menu,
[3983.32] Tony: disarm quadra first,
[3985.32] Tony: throttle bid all right pitch full.
[3987.32] Tony: That's normal, isn't it?
[3989.32] Tony: That's the same for the top.
[3994.43] Stephen: I've entered it before,
[3996.43] Stephen: and it didn't feel the same way
[3998.43] Stephen: as every other analog quad I've got.
[4001.43] Tony: That thing doesn't feel like anything from this entry.
[4007.43] Stephen: Yeah.
[4008.43] Stephen: I think it is the worst experience of beta flight 3.2
[4011.43] Stephen: because I had 3.2 on an F3,
[4013.43] Stephen: and it was relatively easy to set up.
[4015.43] Stephen: That was like the first phone where I tried ever.
[4019.43] Stephen: Beta flight 3.2.
[4022.43] Stephen: Yeah.
[4023.43] Tony: Yeah.
[4024.43] Tony: Anyway.
[4025.43] Tony: I'll send you.
[4026.43] Tony: I'll give it a shot.
[4028.43] Tony: I'll give you the key for downloading the OSD.
[4033.43] Tony: Right.
[4034.43] Tony: That, I think, is all we got time for.
[4039.43] Tony: Frank.
[4040.43] Tony: Hello.
[4041.43] Tony: Are you going to do anything RC related next year?
[4046.43] Frank: Probably.
[4047.43] Frank: Eventually, at some point,
[4049.43] Frank: once I have somewhere to put my bed
[4052.43] Frank: that isn't also the place where the dining table is,
[4055.43] Frank: which is also where everything else is.
[4058.43] Frank: Yeah.
[4059.43] Tony: Can you think of anywhere we could all meal it up
[4062.43] Tony: by a load of fireworks and strap them to a fly?
[4066.43] Tony: Yes.
[4067.43] Tony: That's nowhere near you.
[4069.43] Stephen: Oxford Circus, maybe?
[4071.43] Stephen: I don't know.
[4072.43] Tony: It's just an idea.
[4073.43] Tony: Just have to be safe.
[4074.43] Tony: Have a think about that.
[4075.43] Tony: That sounds like it's fun.
[4076.43] Tony: I'll definitely come out and fly if we can strap.
[4079.43] Tony: Fly our dicks off.
[4084.43] Tony: Thank you to everyone who tuned in.
[4086.43] Tony: You've been listening to Let's Throw Now.
[4088.43] Tony: It's live every Thursday at 8pm till 9pm.
[4091.43] Tony: UK Diamond is currently GMT zero or UTC plus zero, I believe.
[4099.43] Tony: Frank probably will correct me.
[4103.43] Tony: You've been joined by my darling wife, Tony.
[4107.43] Tony: Bonjour.
[4109.43] Tony: The Christmas jumper maniac, Frank.
[4112.43] Tony: Hi.
[4113.43] Tony: And the man with the moustache, Berwick.
[4116.43] Tony: Cheers.
[4117.43] Tony: Bye, everyone.
[4118.43] Tony: And this show has been supported by our patrons.
[4122.43] Tony: It keeps us impartial and free from the slave collar
[4127.43] Tony: that is the YouTube shills.
[4130.43] Tony: You will not find us trying to sell you keeps a VPN.
[4134.43] Tony: Not that Tony can spell VPN anyway.
[4137.43] Stephen: We will not be acquired by a holding company.
[4141.43] Tony: Yep.
[4142.43] Tony: And the best and happy new year.
[4145.43] Tony: I've been bright until I fly.
[4147.43] Stephen: Happy 2023.
[4149.43] Tony: Yeah. See you.
[4150.43] Tony: See you next year, guys.
[4151.43] Tony: You're awesome. Bye, everyone.
[4152.43] Tony: And hopefully we can have more fun and mess around in the new year.
[4158.43] Tony: Thank you, guys.
[4160.43] Frank: Good night.
[4161.43] Frank: Bye.
[4162.43] Frank: Bye.
[4163.43] Frank: Bye.
[4164.43] UNKNOWN: Telemetry lost.
