[212.63] Stephen: And a plethora of quads that you just fixed after smashing them to pieces in Croatia like a week before, I think
[218.63] Stephen: And you were busy showing everyone a fantastic new system that you managed to get your hands on

[242.63] Failsafe: Being on DJI, I've been on DJI for like a year?
[245.63] Failsafe: No, almost two years I think

[248.63] Failsafe: I think I got DJI my birthday last year

[252.63] Failsafe: It might have been last year or the year before

[280.63] Failsafe: They've had this whole year of releasing the V2 goggles

[285.63] Failsafe: I was just like, you know, what's next from DJI basically

[291.63] Failsafe: You know, sort of direction they're heading
[293.63] Failsafe: But yeah, so I decided to check it out

[299.63] Failsafe: If I'm in tech, they're getting them in stock

[303.63] Failsafe: And then I asked if I can have a set to borrow
[306.63] Failsafe: To basically just check out and let people know what I think
[310.63] Failsafe: And yeah, it's just taken off ever since really
[313.63] Failsafe: And I've been in the Walksdale Facebook group
[316.63] Failsafe: Which started off to be a bit of a mess

[322.63] Failsafe: It was an absolute mess
[325.63] Failsafe: It was started by someone who wasn't even in Walksdale, right
[328.63] Stephen: There's just a bit of a joke

[334.63] Failsafe: There was people just getting these random firmwares
[336.63] Failsafe: Out of nowhere that were obviously really good
[338.63] Failsafe: They were posting videos on Facebook, you know
[341.63] Failsafe: And it was just a bit chaotic
[344.63] Failsafe: And I was just like, you know, I reached out to them and was like, you know
[346.63] Failsafe: Do you want me to help?
[347.63] Failsafe: Help sort this out, be a moderator
[349.63] Failsafe: Because there was also a load of problems at the time
[351.63] Failsafe: With spam and stuff like that as well
[354.63] Failsafe: So I went to be a moderator
[356.63] Failsafe: And then I asked them about
[358.63] Failsafe: Want to do a Discord server
[359.63] Failsafe: So I just recently set up a Discord server for them
[361.63] Failsafe: It's now got just over a thousand members now
[363.63] Failsafe: Which is pretty insane
[366.63] Failsafe: We can get that many people over there, I guess

[369.63] Failsafe: And literally, no one

[372.63] Failsafe: Well, I'm literally the main person running it
[374.63] Failsafe: Or that Walksdale, they could try it occasionally

[379.63] Failsafe: Which has been a bit of an effort to sort of sort everything out

[390.63] Failsafe: So basically, anyone in a Discord server
[393.63] Failsafe: Put one of the perks of being a Discord server

[400.63] Failsafe: And also, now we've basically got feedback forms
[404.63] Failsafe: So basically, I've got an idea of doing a Google form

[410.63] Failsafe: Oh, you know, I've had this problem with it

[412.63] Failsafe: That was to be sent back

[415.63] Failsafe: They can then implement those fixes

[419.63] Failsafe: What you want to see is new features

[424.63] Failsafe: I felt like I've really improved the whole way of doing things
[428.63] Failsafe: You know, it's a great community for people to sort of get help on
[434.63] Failsafe: And I've literally always been on Discord
[437.63] Failsafe: Discord's probably my favourite social media platform
[440.63] Failsafe: It's just really good for the hobby
[443.63] Failsafe: Instead of Facebook if I see it
[445.63] Failsafe: And yeah, it's just really kicked off since then, really
[449.63] Failsafe: And yeah, I'm really enjoying the system
[452.63] Failsafe: And they've come a long way
[454.63] Failsafe: I mean, at the start of it
[456.63] Failsafe: I remember thinking, hang on
[458.63] Failsafe: I might have to actually send these back to Unman Tech
[460.63] Failsafe: Because this is absolutely stupid, you know
[462.63] Failsafe: It was pixely, it was really blocky
[465.63] Failsafe: You know, you saw in the earlier firmwares
[467.63] Failsafe: It was super blocky
[468.63] Failsafe: And you could barely see any details in the grass
[471.63] Failsafe: And stuff like that
[472.63] Failsafe: And it got to the point I was like, hang on
[475.63] Failsafe: Is this a hardware thing or is this a software thing?
[477.63] Failsafe: Turns out, you know, they massively improved it
[481.63] Failsafe: To the point it really isn't an issue anymore for me
[484.63] Failsafe: I mean, the thing with walks now
[486.63] Failsafe: At the edge of range
[488.63] Failsafe: What's been a bit of a problem recently is
[490.63] Failsafe: It gets so worse so quick
[493.63] Failsafe: And you get a lot of warning as well
[495.63] Failsafe: Yeah, the drop off point is quite high
[498.63] Failsafe: So I think with DJI it's a bit more stable
[501.63] Failsafe: A lot like, you know, when you go further away
[504.63] Failsafe: But with walks now it kind of does cut out
[506.63] Failsafe: And I had a few occasions where it just cut out completely
[510.63] Failsafe: So it's not perfect, and they're all working on it
[513.63] Failsafe: The past few firmwares have been improving that
[515.63] Failsafe: That whole drop off towards the edge of range
[519.63] Failsafe: I don't think it's got quite the dynamic
[521.63] Stephen: I think it's got quite a red frame around the video
[522.63] Stephen: Yeah
[523.63] Stephen: Which is quite eye-catching now
[524.63] Stephen: So you definitely know something's gone wrong

[545.63] Stephen: But they compared it against DJI
[547.63] Stephen: And DJI, absolutely gigantic company
[550.63] Stephen: They took the same chipset
[551.63] Stephen: They took this Artisan chipset
[553.63] Stephen: An older version of it
[554.63] Stephen: And they've been cranky it out for years
[556.63] Stephen: So DJI had prior experience with it
[559.63] Stephen: And they just kind of lifted that chipset out
[561.63] Stephen: Put it in a little box and sold it to the FBV crowd
[564.63] Stephen: And all walks now had to kind of meet parity with DJI
[568.63] Stephen: So they had a tall order just to get to that
[570.63] Stephen: With no prior experience
[572.63] Stephen: But how do you think they're doing against that
[574.63] Stephen: And where do you think they'll go from here?
[577.63] Failsafe: Yeah, I mean, it all depends
[579.63] Failsafe: I don't really know sort of the backstory

[901.63] Stephen: He was trying to use machine learning to tune it, to get it to respond

[908.63] Stephen: And he was calling it neural flight or neuro flight

[912.63] Stephen: It was based on a continuation of a guy's PhD work that had been out for a little while
[917.63] Stephen: And he was talking about this, talking about releasing betas, set up his own discord, I think
[921.63] Stephen: And then just basically went silent a couple of months after that
[924.63] Failsafe: Yeah, yeah, he had like a lot of things, like sort of start up
[928.63] Failsafe: He has a lot of ideas, like he even developed his own social media platform
[933.63] Failsafe: I don't even know that
[934.63] Failsafe: And that just completely, that just one time, it just completely went like that, just completely disappeared
[939.63] Failsafe: And we asked, it was one person else in the comments section, they were just like, oh, I'll just close it down
[943.63] Failsafe: Because it wasn't financially viable or whatever
[946.63] Stephen: Yeah, maybe he just hit financial issues and had to go get a real job and stop doing YouTube stuff

[957.63] Jack: Do you want to tell us a little bit about your FedEx-ness?

[974.63] Failsafe: Who's an amazing pilot, you should go check him out
[976.63] Failsafe: He flies, he flies, FedEx, the F7 award

[982.63] Failsafe: And I saw some of his videos, his raw videos, it was just like, you know, it's flying incredibly

[988.63] Failsafe: And I was just like, oh, Chris is present, I'm just going to get a FedEx stack
[993.63] Failsafe: Which was the 45-amp ESC and the F7 flight controller
[998.63] Failsafe: Which at the time was like FedEx or best sort of premium stack
[1003.63] Failsafe: So yeah, I tried that and I really enjoyed the simplicity of it
[1007.63] Failsafe: But before then, I was kind of flying beta flight
[1010.63] Failsafe: And I was pit-tuning to try and get it flying exactly the way I wanted it to
[1013.63] Failsafe: And it gets to the point where it gets a bit ridiculous and you get obsessed with it
[1019.63] Jack: So you weren't born when this came out?
[1024.63] Failsafe: No, was I not? Was that the kiss for you when you were one?
[1028.63] Stephen: He's kidding, it's like three or four years old
