[165.45] Curry: Well, not much, but I was going to say one of the big things that we saw this week was the express RRS 100 kilometer flight.
[173.45] Curry: 100k.
[174.45] Curry: Very exciting to watch.
[176.45] Curry: Yeah.
[177.45] Curry: Especially the fact that the crazy man decided like, I use 5.8 for video.
[182.45] Curry: What can go wrong?
[183.45] Curry: We found out at about 80 kilometers out, didn't we?
[188.45] Jack: Yeah, Cole, I think me and you should have a go because you can type.

[194.45] Jack: I know who that person is.

[203.45] Stephen: Well, he's going to over here, actually, because there's a bit that I remember jumping out when they cross the 100k mark.
[211.45] Stephen: And the display is just jumping around.
[214.45] Stephen: They've had some interference.
[215.45] Stephen: But when they cross 100k, it was actually like 100 link quality at the same time.
[220.45] Stephen: That's right.
[221.45] Curry: Not only that, they got the albeit not great video, they got video back back at base.
[228.45] Curry: For anyone who didn't see it, the explanation is it was a one way journey.
[232.45] Curry: But what they did, because we've expressed LRS, you can have multiple radios bound to the same thing.
[239.45] Curry: One guy started off, flew it to a certain amount.
[243.45] Curry: And then the idea was the people 100k away would take over control and land it.
[248.45] Curry: And so they had this they didn't have another battery to go back and forth.
[252.45] Curry: So like 50 kilometers was the it's no turning back zone.
[256.45] Curry: And although they did lose, they had some bad patches.
[259.45] Curry: So he lost video about 80k and had some dodgy telemetry there.
[265.45] Curry: But it came back.
[266.45] Curry: It came back good.
[267.45] Curry: And the people picked it up.
[269.45] Jack: Unbelievable.
[270.45] Curry: Yeah.
[271.45] Stephen: A bit of DVR.
[273.45] Stephen: He's 100.0 kilometers.
[276.45] Stephen: He's got 21 satellites locked.
[278.45] Stephen: But that doesn't matter too much because he's got 100% LQ at 100 kilometers.
[284.45] Jack: What's 100 kilometers in real money?
[287.45] Jack: 60 something, isn't it?
[291.45] Jack: Probably 75 miles?
[292.45] Stephen: 1.6 multiplier.
[293.45] Stephen: So yeah, it's like 60 in a bit, I guess.
[296.45] Curry: It does have specific difficulties with it.
[300.45] Curry: Because close your ears a second, Tony.
[302.45] Curry: One of the problems you get is the curvature of the earth means that if you were to fly just a straight line,
[307.45] Curry: you'd sort of get cut off.
[308.45] Curry: So you've got to be up at a reasonable height to be able to actually get your signal over there.
[315.45] Tony: 60 to 64 we're getting in the chat.
[320.45] Curry: That's pretty cool.
[321.45] Tony: Too shabby.
[322.45] Tony: On 2.4.
[324.45] Curry: Yeah, 2.4 on controlling 5.8 on video, which was crazy.

[330.45] Curry: Yeah, it was variable power, but it did go up to 2.1.
[332.45] Stephen: You're actually looking at video from someone.
[335.45] Stephen: This video was actually from someone who's at the landing site, not the launch site.
[340.45] Stephen: They've got some video from the launch site.
[342.45] Stephen: So he crosses the 100 limit here, and everyone, you know, predictably is quite happy about it.

[358.45] Stephen: But they actually regained video on the starting.
[364.45] Stephen: After a while, they start to get video back.
[367.45] Stephen: That is 5.8 video on a satellite dish with true RC X-Air crosshair antenna at 100 kilometers.
[379.45] Stephen: Which is mental.
[380.45] Stephen: And I think he found out afterwards he actually had, because he wasn't thinking about the fact
[385.45] Stephen: it was mirroring everything in the satellite dish, he actually had the wrong polarization on the antenna
[390.45] Stephen: and should have got a slightly better picture.
[395.45] Jack: Oh, yeah.
[396.45] Jack: What? Because it's a reflection.
[398.45] Jack: Because it's a reflection on satellite dish.
[400.45] Stephen: And he's like, oh, yeah.
[401.45] Stephen: So bounces and reverses.
[403.45] Stephen: Yeah.
[404.45] Stephen: So all that, like, which is not a way he got video at all at 100K.
[408.45] Stephen: And then, yeah, that's the guy who's actually at the other end there.
[412.45] Jack: Minus up to minus 13 decibels from that little mess up.

[432.45] Stephen: But this was like just all the devs in the E LRS and the very technical team, great team,

[440.45] Stephen: I actually had a word with them a little earlier in the week
[444.45] Stephen: because we're trying to figure out some problems with the, you know,
[448.45] Stephen: the menus on HTX, OpenTX, where you can do menus.
[453.45] Stephen: I used to be able to do it over crossfire.
[455.45] Stephen: You can do it over E LRS as well.
[458.45] Stephen: There's a couple of bugs with those that worked out.
[461.45] Stephen: And it looks like the menus for crossfire where you get the full, like, CMS menu.
[469.45] Stephen: CMS menu is what you see in the OSD.
[471.45] Stephen: That's when you go into the OSD and you can toggle through all those options in beta flight.
[475.45] Stephen: That's the CMS menu, right?
[477.45] Stephen: So that only works for crossfire.
[479.45] Stephen: But I think we've figured out that it should work with express LRS as well.
[484.45] Stephen: So that could be interesting.
[486.45] Stephen: So you can go to the VTX, change channel menu and everything as well on your radio,
[491.45] Stephen: as well as the PIDs.
[492.45] Stephen: You get just the regular OSD when you do throttle right and up, whatever it is.
[499.45] Curry: It's very interesting.
[500.45] Curry: I think we should try the same thing, except in, like, we buy ourselves a plane
[505.45] Curry: and then I fly to Jack's and then Jack flies to Tony.

[581.45] Stephen: video masks next to a highway and just nothing else.

[590.45] Tony: They've got a lot of big empty areas there.
[592.45] Tony: They've got a bit of room out there to do that, haven't they?
[595.45] Curry: Well, the Australian rules are pretty tight, aren't they?
[598.45] Curry: That said, I can say for other newsworthy stuff,
[602.45] Curry: OpenHD have a release candidate now for their 231 Evo release.
[609.45] Curry: This is the one that's basically had to be rewritten fully
[613.45] Curry: after the one that came out about two and a half years ago.
[617.45] Curry: And then the developer left and, like, none of the code worked.
[620.45] Curry: They've tried to rewrite it from scratch.
[622.45] Curry: I haven't tested that yet because they've dropped support
[626.45] Curry: for the lower end stuff.
[627.45] Curry: So the original Raspberry Pi, the Raspberry Pi Zero doesn't work anymore.
[631.45] Curry: And I can't get a Zero Two unless I pay up big money
[635.45] Curry: from some horrific scalper.
[638.45] Curry: So I'm going to have to wait till they're more freely available
[641.45] Curry: before I can test it out.

[686.45] Stephen: It reminds me of the old punk metal t-shirts.
[689.45] Stephen: It's called Lipo Death with the lettering done in the standard sort of death metal
[694.45] Stephen: dripping with gore sort of font and features a very nice little graphic
[698.45] Stephen: of someone flying what appears to be a five inch freestyle quad into someone's face
[703.45] Stephen: in the traditional death metal style.
[706.45] Curry: Yeah, very nice.

[709.45] Tony: Yeah, lovely.

[711.45] Stephen: Yeah, great for family gatherings, weddings, that type of thing.

[724.45] Curry: because that one where it perched on the top of your head
[726.45] Curry: looks like you need to be sat in the garden holding a fishing rod or something.
[730.45] Curry: It's got such gnome qualities to it.
[733.45] Stephen: Well, located kind of where I am in the north of London,
[738.45] Stephen: it did rather remind me of East 17 with their ludicrous displays of hat-wearing
[744.45] Stephen: where they just sort of perched their hats up on the top of their heads.
[747.45] Stephen: So that was what was jumping to mind first, unfortunately.
[751.45] Stephen: It really keeps.
[754.45] Stephen: Yeah, it is challenging.
[756.45] Stephen: It is not an easy hat to wear.
[759.45] Stephen: I mean, but you shouldn't really have difficulty wearing hats.
[762.45] Stephen: But in this one, I was challenged.
[765.45] Stephen: It didn't want to really work as a normal hat
[769.45] Stephen: unless I had quite a mass of fabric on top of my head.
[773.45] Stephen: I was struggling a little bit.
[774.45] Stephen: I tried to sort of arrange it.
[776.45] Stephen: But getting the LDO logo to show without looking like
[780.45] Stephen: it was some kind of odd religious adornment was challenging.
[784.45] Stephen: That's a blessed one.
[785.45] Stephen: I experimented on a couple of different ways, yeah.
[787.45] Stephen: So I worked on that.
[788.45] Stephen: It's going to roll my bank.
[790.45] Stephen: Just about there you are.
[792.45] Stephen: There you are.
[793.45] Stephen: So right now, the only way to really get the LDO logo to show
[796.45] Stephen: without the hat sticking off the top of the head
[798.45] Stephen: is to get the bottom of the hat down to about chin level.
[802.45] Stephen: And if you try and roll it up any higher than the bottom of your nose,
[805.45] Stephen: you can't see the logo.
[807.45] Stephen: So that was challenging.
[809.45] Stephen: I feel like I've done a bit of user acceptance testing for putting on a hat.
[813.45] Stephen: And I failed pretty badly.
[816.45] Stephen: That is the only way you could actually wear it as a hat.
[821.45] Stephen: And then you can't tell it's an LDO hat
[823.45] Stephen: because you've got to fold this bit up so that you can't see the logo.
[829.45] Koel: See, you've got to put a little logo on the fold, on the inside fold.

[835.45] Tony: Yeah, that's how you're supposed to do it.
[837.45] Tony: I think you should just pull it all the way down and just cut too hard, I think.

[1128.45] Stephen: The idea is this, it takes from wing design and puts more of that into propellers, right?

[1138.05] Jack: So, I've seen, like, toroidal boat propellers.

[1147.05] Jack: Yeah, they're about five thousand dollars, I think.

[1172.05] Curry: Isn't it that you get slightly less thrust, though, in these, although slightly quieter?

[1183.05] Tony: I think on, like, phantoms and stuff, I'm not sure on five inch right high.

[1213.05] Jack: And then you've got like a flamewheel 450 or whatever.
[1218.05] Stephen: It's really hard to understand if there's no comparisons.

[1224.05] Stephen: But unless you've got the two in a side by side with a sound meter.

[1232.05] Stephen: I think someone already tried them for computer fans.

[1242.05] Curry: It does seem to make much more sense to put regular props on a quad.
[1248.05] Curry: Put the Toyota props on a quad and compare that.
[1252.05] Curry: Why would they have two completely different models?

[1256.05] Jack: I think it's I think it's an element of we haven't got any made and making them and then make it like balancing them.
[1268.05] Jack: You know, because I think that would be the the difficult part is actually dynamically balancing them.

[1299.05] Stephen: I've heard about people getting worried about that with eight inch and not seven inch or five inch.
[1304.05] Koel: Yeah, I can't say I've ever had to balance a prop before.
[1308.05] Tony: Even my ex-class 13 and a half inch, they're they're all made so well now that I wouldn't bother doing anything.
[1316.05] Stephen: No one's using plain props anymore.
[1318.05] Stephen: That was the problem, right? Because the plain props had much they didn't care about the tolerances.
[1323.05] Stephen: Vibration was less of an issue.
[1325.05] Stephen: Yeah, they're all proper quad props now.
[1328.05] Stephen: I think this comes down to something we were talking about before where a lot of the stuff that Jack likes to chat about, it's kind of when it was moving from being plain parts to being the first quad parts.
[1337.05] Stephen: And now things have been specifically made for quads for a while.
[1342.05] Stephen: Different different things in mind, you know, less vibration, all that stuff.
[1348.05] Tony: Yeah.
[1349.05] Tony: Cole, have you got any footage or anything you can share of your trip?
[1353.05] Koel: Yeah, I got way too much.
[1356.05] Jack: Well, say where you went and how long you went there.
[1363.05] Jack: Or think about the audience.
[1365.05] Koel: Yeah, so well, obviously, I mean, I live in Canada and I took a 16 hour flight to Taiwan because my girlfriend is half Taiwanese and we were visiting her mum over there.
[1379.05] Koel: And basically I brought all my quads with me, got properly registered, did the right thing because, you know, I don't want to mess with any government or regulations over there.
[1391.05] Koel: So I did that.
[1393.05] Koel: And
[1395.05] Koel: I basically flew. I ended up actually meeting a bunch of local FPV people. There was like a shop owner, some guys who fly, I think like maybe like two or three different groups of people who fly.
[1409.05] Koel: I couldn't actually speak with them. I had to use Google Translate to talk to them because obviously I don't speak Chinese. So that was really interesting.
[1416.05] Koel: They actually don't call it FPV over there. They call it Chuan Yueji. And I don't understand why they don't just say FPV, but apparently a sort of like literal or direct translation of Chuan Yueji means fly through machine or something like that.
[1437.05] Koel: Like to them, it just means like drone or FPV drone, but like a literal translation means fly through machine. So I mean, that was pretty cool.
[1447.05] Koel: What else? Yeah. So FPV is Chuan Yueji and like DJI drones is Kong Paiji. So I don't know, just sort of Chinese.
[1458.05] Stephen: What's the translation for DJI then if it's not fly through machine, what is it?
[1462.05] Koel: It's like aerial camera or something like that.
[1465.05] Koel: Yeah. So I learned a lot actually. It was actually really cool interacting with people in a place that I don't speak the language because, you know, we have to communicate other ways and use Google Translate for everything.
[1478.05] Koel: But like this one group of guys, they showed me this like really, really cool spot. It was only like 10 minutes from where I was staying.
[1486.05] Koel: And it's basically like a science and tech area, just like a commercial industrial ish area.
[1494.05] Koel: And there was this basically this like, I want to call office park or like industrial park kind of thing. And I can show you guys a couple of clips of that.
[1504.05] Koel: It was a really cool spot. Let me see if I can share my screen.
[1509.05] Koel: Share my screen. I went there a couple of times, but the first time it was like too late at night. So my footage didn't come out properly.
[1517.05] Koel: So yeah, this is the area that I was flying in. Hold on. Let me just fast forward a bit. So basically it's concrete.
[1526.05] Koel: Yeah, it's a huge concrete area. Just tons of little gaps to fly through and whatnot.
[1533.05] Koel: And yeah, so here's a little, I think this was like, yeah, I guess this looks like a large open public space.
[1543.05] Stephen: There's a lot of kind of pedestrian walkways and some covered bits and sculptures, big wavy cool canopies as well.
[1551.05] Koel: The crazy thing is, not a single soul was around any time I flew there other than people stealing electricity further down the line because they can have little barbecues in one.
[1563.05] Koel: But yeah, this area, you know, it's basically an FPV heaven. I mean, you can...
[1572.05] Koel: Looks very bright. Lovely place to go in the winter.
[1575.05] Koel: Oh, 25 degrees and people are like, oh, I'm so cold. It's pretty cool.
[1582.05] Jack: We more cold sweated his balls off constant.
[1586.05] Koel: Oh, I was just in shorts and a t-shirt and everyone's looking at me like, whoa, dude, like what's...
[1590.05] Tony: What are you doing?
[1591.05] Koel: Yeah, everyone's wearing full out parkas there. And I'm just like, wow. Yeah. So hold on. So let me see.
[1600.05] Koel: So I think this was like one of my first packs, actually. So it wasn't...

[1606.05] Koel: Yeah, that was Dorothy's knee. Okay, this was a good time.
[1610.05] Koel: So I was playing it safe for the most part, the first few packs, because I'm on analog, right? So I'm getting pretty bad breakup in these areas.
[1616.05] Koel: I can show a DVR later, but the more you go, like the direction that I'm facing right here, it gets even crazier this way.
[1625.05] Koel: So check this out. So, you know, I'm flying through that thing. I was trying to power loop before going under these solar panels.
[1631.05] Koel: And then you can kind of go down here. And I mean, it's underpass. Underpass. You can power loop that.
[1640.05] Koel: Oh, perfect. Power loop. Killing it. Right.
[1643.05] Koel: Right. And like, how could you ask for a better location? This is the coolest location ever, right?
[1650.05] Curry: It's weird. It looks like a ghost town, though, doesn't it? There's just nobody anywhere that you can see.
[1656.05] Stephen: There's nobody. Literally no one around. There's a huge avenue. You've got two rows of trees. There's a huge walkway down the middle and there's just not a soul on it.
[1665.05] Tony: It was too cold for them, remember? They're flying in their winter.
[1669.05] Jack: Yeah, depths of winter. They'll die of exposure.
[1672.05] Koel: Well, the other thing, too, is I think it's...

[1677.05] Koel: Oh, yeah. Well, I think the one big building off in the back left or right hand corner was, I think it was still being built.
[1685.05] Koel: So like, it's kind of like a little untouched gem, really. It's...

[1691.05] Koel: Yeah. So this spot was really cool. On my second last day, I actually went back and I tested my luck.
[1696.05] Koel: Oh, so I'm not sure if you can see. There's a guy riding... I think I tried to follow him at one point, but there's a guy flying...
[1706.05] Koel: He's driving a little scooter. So I'm like, okay, I'm going to go look at this guy while he's doing that.
[1713.05] Koel: I'm like, okay, no, never mind. And then if you look in the left hand corner, there's like a pile of scooters and kind of some people hanging out.
[1721.05] Koel: Well, those people are actually just stealing electricity to have a barbecue.
[1726.05] Koel: Yeah. So that was kind of fun. There was actually... I did a scary thing at one point where I almost crashed into the scooter guy because I didn't see him, but that was tons of fun.
[1741.05] Tony: That was your spotter's fault, wasn't it?
[1744.05] Koel: Oh, yes. I had tons of spotters here. Yes. There you go. You see the people having a little barbecue down there.
[1752.05] Jack: It must be quite funny. They're stealing electricity being like, oh, we'll be naughty.
[1758.05] Jack: And you're just casually flipping a burger and then all of a sudden a little electronic bumblebee that's got a rocket up its ass flies past you.

[1775.05] Stephen: What was the attitude to FPV like? Was it just, oh, you're just doing a hobby thing like you could be fishing?
[1781.05] Koel: I mean, the thing is, over there, when they see a white guy, they don't see white guys too often.
[1792.05] Koel: So they're like, oh, cool. A white guy. Oh, what's he doing? He's flying a drone. Oh, cool.
[1797.05] Koel: That's kind of the general consensus I got from it, but it doesn't seem like they're too strict.
[1804.05] Koel: I mean, there are, you know, quote unquote, red zones where you can't fly. Definitely. You got to be safe.
[1810.05] Koel: And there's, oh, there is like a whole like drone map where, you know, you can fly here. You can't fly here. Here you have to fly under 200 meters.

[1903.05] Koel: Let's see here. I think this was the oh, this was the first night I flew. Basically, we're just flying on the street.
[1910.05] Stephen: Yeah, it was it was pretty, pretty dark. You're saying those people are seriously invested in night vision cameras, right?
[1919.05] Koel: The best of the best shop owner out there. Basically, he's working all day. The only chance he gets to do a fly is at night.
[1926.05] Koel: So they're using all the Foxy or cat cams and everything. And, you know, I'm using the this is the run cam Swift too.
[1933.05] Koel: So if I showed you the DVR, you'd be like, what are you doing? But I mean, the streets are basically ghost towns, right?
[1941.05] Koel: It's not calls or anything. There's nothing to follow the street lamps. Yeah, that's what I figured out because I was trying to.
[1948.05] Koel: There's actually a digger on sort of in the little darkness area and I was power looping up and I was like, wait a minute, my GoPro can't see anything.
[1955.05] Koel: So let me see if I can track down where I flew with these guys. I think this was like a bit of night flying.
[1967.05] Koel: This white balance is wrong here. Hold on. I didn't have the sodium lamps or not. Yeah, it was very, very well, it was very orange, but I didn't sort of correct for it.
[1978.05] Koel: Give me a second here, guys. Sorry. So I guess I should open the thing up so I can see it a little bit better the previews.
[1989.05] Koel: OK, here we go. So this was the second time that I went out and flew and I went kind of just a bit too late, but color in the sky. Yeah, a little bit a little bit of color here.
[2000.05] Koel: So actually, funny enough, when I popped up to this place, I was just coming here to fly by myself and there was actually a group of guys here with a whole set up and everything with a bunch of quads, like three drones.
[2013.05] Koel: I don't know why, but they had a BMW SUV just parked right in the path of flight, but that's fine.
[2021.05] Stephen: They just wanted to rock up and get all the table out of their car and just fly two meters from their car. Pretty much, yeah.
[2028.05] Koel: And surprisingly, these were actually some young kids with their dad who was driving them. These guys were like 14 and 16 years old and they were just, you know, they were having a blast.
[2040.05] Koel: OK, let me see if I can near the end of this clip. I think I kind of come up to us and there's a little group of us.
[2049.05] Tony: No, yeah.
[2051.05] Koel: Let's see. So, I mean, yeah, this was, oh, sorry, go ahead.
[2057.05] Tony: Did you do any country flying, like out in the country or anything?
[2062.05] Koel: I did. So there's, so, yeah, I mean, you guys get the gist of this. It's just kind of like, you know, office park or whatever you want to call it.
[2070.05] Koel: But I, my girlfriend and I, we actually went out to this crazy, this crazy, I don't know, did I talk about it on here already yet?
[2081.05] Koel: We went to this crazy Bando that was an abandoned hotel that's actually like considered a haunted, like haunted by ghosts, abandoned hotel up in the mountains.
[2092.05] Koel: And it was super sketchy. Like we had to sneak in past this crazy barbed wire fence.
[2100.05] Koel: But the original fence that's supposed to block people out was down. So you can walk in. But then there's like an even crazier fence we kind of had to get through.
[2111.05] Koel: This spot was really sorry. Oh, spooky. Yes. This spot was actually very, very scary.
[2120.05] Koel: I mean, for one, we had to kind of sneak in. For two, we're like the only people there in this like abandoned, scary, ghost filled hotel.
[2131.05] Koel: There's dogs. There's no Ghostbusters in Taiwan there in America. I know, I know. And not just that, there's like street dogs barking, like, you know, in a close distance.
[2143.05] Koel: We're just like, holy, what are we doing here? Like, let's get basically I was like, let's get two or three packs in. Let's get them out of here because this is just crazy.
[2153.05] Koel: And I'm also flying an analog. I was flying my old quad that has not as powerful of a VTX in it. And I also wasn't standing in the most ideal location. But yeah, check this out.
[2166.05] Jack: I love how Steven's holding on for dear life.
[2170.05] Stephen: I'm trying to do something weird to my neck just to make it feel correct.
[2175.05] Tony: I hate neck. I think it's the worst. How about some ibuprofen?
[2180.05] Koel: I don't know if you noticed, but on the top right of the building, there's like a security camera. So I had to sort of stay out of that.
[2189.05] Tony: He didn't hover in front of it. So the ghosts could see.
[2193.05] Curry: Because I'm not convinced there's electricity being provided to this place at the moment. Was this a modern camera?
[2201.05] Koel: I don't know. It's you'd be surprised in Taiwan. Everything looks like crap. But then, like, surprisingly, everything's still working. But so take a look at this.
[2213.05] Koel: Like, this is this is like crazy. Yeah, it's real.
[2218.05] Koel: And then they run out of money and didn't bother. Yeah, no, you don't know what it was. You want to hear the backing story of it was this was actually like the hotel of the rich and the elite of Taiwan back in like the 80s or 70s or something.
[2232.05] Koel: And what ended up happening was supposedly, you know, as for as folklore says, there was weird happenings going on.
[2241.05] Koel: And I bet there was. And just strange things happened. And eventually, like, they got a bad reputation because, you know, people are saying, oh, it's haunted this, it's haunted that.
[2254.05] Koel: So the reputation kind of scared everyone away. And they couldn't keep up with the price because this was actually one of the most expensive, like, multi multi million dollar in, you know, American dollars, whatever.
[2267.05] Curry: The weird noises coming from bedrooms. Yeah, I'm surprised film crews aren't out there because the way they're sort of nature's taken it back. It kind of looks like post a popular stuff you could use for any sort of zombie movie or anything like that.
[2283.05] Koel: The right lighting and you could have like CGI robots marching around that. I'm sure. Yeah, I did get a little bit gutsy out a couple of couple times. Let me see, because I mean, you see where I'm standing, right?
[2298.05] Koel: I'm kind of not in the best situation to be flying on this side of the wall. But I also don't want to be caught by the security cameras. So and plus this little area, I thought was pretty cool.
[2309.05] Koel: The spiral. Yeah. So I actually ended up power looping through the gap. This is the first time I ever did anything like that before. So that was pretty cool. I think there's one other little, let's see.
[2326.05] Tony: Caroline said if there was any electric there, someone would be happy.
[2330.05] Koel: Well, that's the test. Yeah, that's true. That is true. Yeah. If there's electricity to be found, it will be found.
[2340.36] Koel: There was. Hold on. Sorry, guys. I haven't even really gone through much of this yet because it's okay. Here we go. So I was like, okay, I'm going to power loop it again because I'm if I'm here, I've never powered loop through gaps. So I'm going to try it for the second time.
[2358.36] Koel: And I managed to kind of do it. It wasn't like the cleanest or anything, but that was pretty cool.
[2364.36] Koel: But yeah, so pretty, pretty intense spot. Pretty, pretty intense spot. Very cool. Yeah. So that that was that. I think my first. No, that's not it. But so basically, you know, I flew some bandos. I flew some office parks. But then we went to the we went up into the mountains to where her grandpa lives up and he has like this compound up there.
[2394.36] Koel: Up in the middle of nowhere in the mountains. And I sent my quad about one or two kilometers out for the first time. It's a freestyle quad. So I had the wrong props. My batteries are toast flying analog, which actually was fine out there because there was like no.
[2414.36] Koel: What's the word? Interference. That's the word. So it was actually surprisingly fun. And it's the first time I've ever flown like this.
[2424.36] Koel: But yeah, a little bit butt clunching, that's for sure. So that's not it. So when you turn around and think, oh, where was I? What's what bit of the heel or my arm? Oh, shoot. I completely forgot to show you guys this other insane band. What do you want to see first? Crazy Bando or greenery first, please. Yeah.
[2446.36] Koel: Okay, so until yeah, basically, you have to send it a little bit and loop back and see what you can do a little bit more in the back because I was I've never flown like this before. I was like scared. So let's see. Let me just look as the size of the sights. Well, you'll see like it's it's absolutely insane. So I also I was like, okay, well, I kind of want to fly through these these palm trees here.
[2476.36] Koel: I definitely like to fly through them. They look they look cool. Yeah, like, but there's actually electric wires. If you look closely, there's a lot of between the trees. Oh, yeah. So look at this place, guys. Like this looks great. It looks like Jurassic Park or something does this distant mountains. So so this is actually where I was staying. This is my girlfriend's grandpa's little compound. This whole little area on the bottom left.
[2506.36] Tony: For next year.
[2509.36] Koel: I mean, I don't know the trip to the mountains look fantastic. Will you tell me to go up into the mountains and do a bit of mountain exploring? Let him get there. Yeah, let me get sorry. Sorry. First, I was just kind of scared, right? Okay, I'm gonna fly through through these little trees and I'm gonna see what I can do in this very close proximity.
[2530.36] Jack: But then those those those electrical cables, they might as well be invisible. Oh, dude, I know. I know.
[2541.36] Koel: I flew my I actually sent my Mavic Mini through it and I was like this. I reviewed the footage. I actually almost hit them. But like, look how insane this looks like.
[2551.36] Koel: That's amazing. And river and mountain, dried up river, mountains. I really wanted to send it through.
[2562.36] Koel: But yeah, so so this was my first pack, sending it out. And I'm just like, okay, taking a little look, taking a little look coming back. What to do, right? So
[2575.36] Koel: so that was the first kind of, you know, expedition with seeing where what I could do. Well, I ended up getting a little bit more ballsy and testing out and this was actually my last pack and it was the next day because I was, you know, trying to play it safe. I didn't want to lose my quad up there. You never get in the back.
[2598.36] Koel: But you know, another thing that's cool too, you know, you don't need a dryer out there. You just got you have a big, you know, big time. Yeah. And then check out this garden. So they're fully set, like almost like other than meat, they're basically self sustaining. Yeah, like leafy green vegetables, they have a whole fish pond where they feed the stuff grows really well there all year round.
[2626.36] Koel: I think. Yeah, check this out. Like, that's nice. Like, what is this? Like, this is the craziest thing I've ever flown before. And
[2636.36] Curry: she says parallelize it everywhere, aren't they? Every time you think you're in the middle of the jungle, there's these just going across the canyon up the hillside rivers cut through it. That's the top of a bamboo tree, I think.
[2648.36] Koel: I know before you went, you went through some lines. Oh, yeah, yeah. Well, the thing is, I mean, they got to get power somehow, right? Oh, yeah, you're right. Right there. Exactly. Yep. Yep.
[2658.36] Jack: I think Trappie said it hanging up the hill, then. I think Trappie said it best flying long range. It is like a rubber band, but that rubber bands your asshole.
[2670.36] Tony: It does get you going in it. But my heart was just like, wow. Remember, I'm on the wrong props with the wrong batteries with the wrong drone. And, and I'm like, pushing further and further and just like,
[2688.36] Koel: Yeah, and I'm on analog to and like, look how crazy this is what you want. Well, no, I know. I know. But it's still it's still like, you know, a horror movie the whole time you're flying. Yeah.
[2701.36] Koel: 800 milliwatt or something. This was actually 500. I was I should have put it more because my crossfire could have gone further. But I was, you know, I still wanted to play it safe. But yeah, I asked the locals, they said I was about maybe one or two kilometers away from the place. So yeah, it was
[2722.36] Jack: You can do it on Google Maps, surely. You can draw a little line. Oh, you've got to be so careful of ground blocking yourself, though.
[2731.36] Koel: Especially going down too low here. Yeah. So if I went too low, I wouldn't lose video, then I have to go. Yeah. Well, that's a good thing about it.
[2743.36] Jack: Yeah, it actually comes back instead of doing what I've done to Tony, where it just shows you the last one frame.
[2754.36] Tony: That's nice, man. Wow. How long were you out there for?
[2759.36] Koel: Almost two months, actually. Wow. Yeah. I need a two month full a day in Taiwan. Right. Yeah. I feel like everybody, if you ever have a chance to go to Taiwan, do it and definitely bring your drive.
[2772.36] Stephen: All right. So I should I should say 20 a.m. because how did you how did you deal with the travel side? Because I've never actually taken mine in an aircraft.
[2783.36] Stephen: Oh, you mean, like, how did I bring my drones there? Yeah, you've got a whole bunch of lipos. You've probably got a more sensible number of quads, but you still got a fair chunk of equipment.
[2794.36] Stephen: And some of it's delicate. And some of it's like, I normally think we worried about. Yeah, like, were you worried about anyone at the airport going?
[2802.36] Koel: You can't. Did you get your whole thing? Good. So surprising. Yeah. Yeah. National. Yeah. Audio. National Geographic in real life. Exactly.
[2812.36] Koel: But, OK. So, dude, no one asked me anything at the airports going there or coming back. My chargers and my like my sort of like repair stuff was all in unchecked luggage.
[2827.36] Stephen: And nobody asked me a damn thing. No one said anything to me. So you just sat on the plane with like a backpack full of lipos, basically.
[2839.36] Stephen: Lipos, drones. Or do you tape up the plug and everything or? Just put it in a lipo safe bag in my backpack. Wow. Yeah. I think you're only allowed a certain power.
[2850.36] Koel: Power? Well, yeah. But that's per battery, isn't it? That's like 100 watts hours per battery. Up to 100 watt hours or something. But you'll never exceed that. And I only have like six batteries anyway, so.
[2861.36] Stephen: That's like not a problem until you get to cine lifters for the light. Yeah. What's like this. It's easy to go under 100. I mean, we were fine with our X-Class to Texas. Look at those power lines, man. I know. Fantastic. Yeah. So I mean, what a beautiful place to fly.

Like, and the crazy part was I had to fly from a haunted house parking lot because this whole area was fenced off. But not a whole need. [3072.36] Koel: And it's all made out of shipping containers. And it's actually really cool. But obviously, the pandemic kind of had a different mind of its own or whatever. But super cool spot. I was this is actually the second day that I went because I was a little scared to.
[3089.36] Koel: I didn't go inside before and not looking back at the footage. I wish I did more because there was more stuff I could have done. But what I should have could, I guess. But

Super windy. It is very, very windy in Taiwan in general, just because it is on. What the heck was that? It is just right off the water. So maybe I can show you a quick little thing here. So if you look towards the distance there, that's actually the ocean.
[3127.36] Koel: Just on the other side of those trees, like I'm literally right beside the ocean. So the wind is pretty insane. I mean, it was it was fun, too, because there's these like shipping containers, you can kind of fly through them. There's the band.
[3142.36] Koel: Nobody at any of these spots. Nobody just ghost town and too cold. Well, I mean, this was in the south. So it was actually about 2728 degrees this day. And that's the winter time.

[3160.36] Koel: Me and Tony would be dying of a heat stroke. So I ended up actually finding well, the first day I didn't want to try it. But DVR. Yeah, I will show you. But check this out, guys. You can go down your back. You can power. Look at that. Look at that. I tried for it a second time. But no, I, I couldn't do that.
