[237.41] Jack: At one point, you know, mine was definitely the BL Heli suite and the clean flight pass through.
[245.25] Jack: If some of you remember BL Heli was the best. Oh, my word. Just not having to deal with it.

[262.77] Jack: USB, VCP. Yeah, you used to have to stick. There's like little breakout pads on there and you'd have
[269.41] Jack: to solder to the tiny little pads and then connect it. And then if you didn't like the bootloader,
[275.81] Jack: yeah, he had a paperweight, a mini paperweight for a mouse. Yeah. That was Simon K firmware.
[283.57] Lee: Do you remember that? Simon K. We all thought that was the bees knees for about six months.
[289.81] Jack: Yeah, no such thing as active breaking. No, I know. You still have to. Did you have to calibrate?
[300.29] Stephen: Yeah, you did back then. Because I just remember looking at my secrets and thinking that was no
[305.41] Jack: they're not ready yet. Was it true that the one shot code was something to do with your
[314.05] Jack: failed LED signal thing that you made? The one shot code is something to do with an LED signal,
[321.73] Stephen: but I know the shot is loosely based around the WS2812 code, right? Well, sort of and sort of not.
[330.37] Dominic: The encoding is sort of an old standard, basically. So it's used on quite a few things.
[337.09] Dominic: It's a GCR encoding, I think, if I remember rightly, which is it predates the LEDs by a long time.
[344.29] Lee: Well, let's face it, the only reason we have addressable LEDs is because of Dominic,
[347.97] Lee: because it was his wacky idea to stick them on a quad. And then everyone jumped on that bandwagon
[352.37] Lee: and started making them. And before he got the code, nobody thought of doing it. We all used to
[357.09] Dominic: solder regular LEDs onto stuff. See, I know I found my PWM LED controller in my box of old stuff
[366.53] Dominic: the other day. So yeah, I'm like, Oh, yeah, I remember all these things. Wasn't that your
[371.49] Jack: first project, though, where you made like an LED snowboard? Is that right? Yeah, yeah. So
[380.05] Dominic: my first flight controller was not meant for flying a quad. It was for putting on a snowboard,
[387.01] Dominic: because it had a gyro on it and it had a processor on it. And then snowboarding season finished,
[391.17] Dominic: and I had a spare one lying about. So I'm like, Okay, maybe I should stick it in a quad now.
[395.09] Dominic: So I did. And it was terrible. So and then I bought a nays. And then here we are today.
[400.21] Dominic: What was that first one? It was it was a multi we won.
[404.61] Dominic: Oh, what the boy we flip or something? Oh, it was just some really old multi we won. It's some
[410.77] Dominic: China green PCB don't remember it. What were you pro? It was an unbranded one or something like
[418.05] Dominic: that. But the point was that it had an app mail processor on it that you can run the Arduino
[424.05] Dominic: libraries and stuff against. And it had the appropriate sensors on it, which I needed. So

[1657.59] Lee: And then also moving away from PWM control to one shot and multi-shot on digital signals
[1663.75] Lee: to the ESCs, which were faster and you didn't have to calibrate.

[1670.63] Lee: kind of dropped by half overnight when people used S bus and one shot
[1675.11] Lee: because it just made everything so much easier.
