[239.22] Koel: I went out to a different baseball field
[242.22] Koel: And soccer, or sorry, football pitch

[246.22] Koel: And I was testing my gear to make sure that everything was good

[251.22] Koel: And I was actually testing out my GoPro 11 mini without stabilization
[254.22] Koel: Because stabilization is kind of like cheating
[257.22] Koel: It does make you look like a better pilot than you are
[259.22] Koel: It takes out all the little micro jitters
[261.22] Koel: But I was like
[263.22] Koel: I want to see what it looks like without stabilization
[266.22] Koel: And if I fly like crap, then either I suck at flying or my tune is crap
[271.22] Koel: So upon testing, my drone flies great even without stabilization
[276.22] Koel: You do see a little bit of micro-corrections or whatever
[279.22] Koel: So that was two days ago, so everything was all good
[282.22] Koel: But yeah, last night I was actually shooting for
[286.22] Koel: I was shooting video on my camera, but basically this
[290.22] Koel: I filmed a TV show a couple years ago with this one producer, director guy
[295.22] Koel: And I was just using regular cameras, but he's like
[298.22] Koel: Hey man, want to bring out the FPV drone? We're doing something on like a local sports team
[303.22] Koel: So yeah, I was out shooting some video and flying with my FPV drone yesterday
[308.22] Koel: Which was pretty cool
[311.98] Koel: It was interesting
[314.98] Koel: It looks really cool actually when they have the baseball field
[317.98] Koel: And it's all like the perfect lines and you're like really low
[320.98] Koel: I can't show anything right now because it's not really for me

[330.98] Koel: So I didn't sign anything saying that I can't
[334.98] Koel: So I mean like, I mean

[380.98] Curry: To the point that I had to dig my module out with a screwdriver

[390.98] Curry: It was literally a case of one, the modules get stuck and then the other
[394.98] Curry: They just came out normally

[398.98] Jack: And you saw in the back that it had like little cut out
[403.98] Jack: Do you think that that's all it is? Do you reckon they've redone the mould?
[408.98] Jack: Or do you reckon they just sawed the corners off?
[411.98] Curry: I remember you saying that the ghost module you said was the worst
[415.98] Curry: And the ghost module I couldn't even press all the way in without using proper force
[420.98] Curry: And that would be at the top
[421.98] Curry: So they must have just rejigged the mould and then put those little cut outs in
[426.98] Curry: Because what was happening with the old one, if I took the back off I could take it out
[431.98] Curry: Because there's more flex in the back of the bay in the moulding
[436.98] Curry: So by taking the cut outs out, you get more flex in it even when it's attached to the radio
[442.98] Curry: It's a weird problem
[444.98] Curry: But that's good, it means I can use that again
[448.98] Curry: Because I was using it to set up my walksnow quad
[451.98] Curry: And then aside from the fact, I should tell you two things
[456.98] Curry: See if anybody else has experienced this
[458.98] Curry: Because I'd never done it before and it was apparently quite common
[462.98] Curry: So I was trying to flash my quad to 4-4
[467.98] Curry: This little chestnut, the Chimera, which has now got the walksnow BTX2 pro camera in it
[474.98] Curry: Which is all very good
[476.98] Curry: But despite me holding the boot button and plugging in and the right light coming on
[483.98] Curry: It wouldn't recognise DFU mode
[486.98] Curry: And I couldn't quite figure this out
[488.98] Curry: So I started trying to unplug everything from all the UARTs
[493.98] Curry: And literally when I had no UARTs connected
[496.98] Curry: The beta flight said, oh you're in DFU mode, let's flash shall we
[500.98] Curry: Which is apparently not an uncommon thing
[503.98] Curry: But in the hundreds of times I flashed things, it's never ever happened to me
[508.98] Curry: So I eventually managed to flash that and get to 4-4
[514.98] Curry: And then
[517.98] Curry: What was I saying?
[518.98] Curry: I forgot what my first initial thing saying about it was
[521.98] Curry: Oh yeah, I was trying to hook up the box to it
[524.98] Curry: And I hadn't used it for so long
[526.98] Curry: I found out it was a completely different firmware on both the receiver and the TX
[532.98] Curry: And I had to update both
[533.98] Jack: Yeah, the updates for Express LRS are coming out thick and fast

[541.98] Curry: Yeah, but it was the case of like the radio was on 3.x.x maintenance level

[549.98] Curry: And something else was on like 2 point something
[552.98] Curry: So it was way out, it didn't have a clue

[560.98] Curry: It has been pretty bad weather

[1022.62] Curry: So basically I'm playing everything
[1026.62] Curry: Fortunately, everything was on plugs
[1028.62] Curry: And nothing had to be desoldered

[1080.62] Koel: It only lasts like maybe four minutes
[1082.62] Koel: He's like, bring them all
[1084.62] Koel: We're gonna do them all
[1085.62] Koel: So I'm like, okay, I got eight batteries
[1087.62] Koel: He's like, bring a charger too, we gotta do it all
[1090.62] Koel: Well, I only got to fly three packs
[1092.62] Koel: And I'm like, well, now I have five more batteries sitting fully charged
[1096.62] Koel: So at the end of it, basically we were supposed to do more FPV stuff
[1099.62] Koel: After the practice, I only got to fly for the warm-up
[1102.62] Koel: Well, there was a game happening after the practice
[1105.62] Koel: So the field was taken up by a next
[1108.62] Koel: Sort of like, you know, whatever team
[1111.62] Koel: So I pretty much had to fly
[1114.62] Koel: My batteries to
[1117.62] Koel: I basically was just like, okay, I'm gonna fly to storage charge because
[1122.62] Koel: That's what you have to do
[1124.62] Koel: The worst thing for me is like
[1126.62] Koel: You charge up all your batteries, you go out
[1129.62] Koel: And then you only fly a couple of them and you gotta go home
[1131.62] Koel: Plug them all into the charger and then
[1134.62] Koel: Deech or what do you call them, discharge them to storage level
[1137.62] Koel: And that just seems to take forever and it's not fun
[1142.62] Jack: You can buy a battery discharger
[1147.62] Jack: Some people say they don't last that long
[1150.62] Jack: No
[1151.62] Jack: But basically it's basically a hair dryer
[1154.62] Jack: A DC hair dryer with like a fan
[1157.62] Jack: And it's like blowing through nycron wire
[1160.62] Jack: I think that's how they do it
[1163.62] Jack: The way your charger's doing it is through a bank of resistors
[1167.62] Jack: And it's blowing the heat over the
[1170.62] Jack: If you crack open a charger
[1173.62] Jack: There's like big old ceramic resistors
[1176.62] Jack: And they just sit there and, you know, soak up
[1180.62] Jack: A load of, you know, turning the electricity into heat
[1184.62] Koel: Well, that's what I noticed too is, yeah, they get very, very hot after discharge
[1189.62] Koel: And it also, it takes, you know, an hour per battery almost
[1195.62] Koel: If it's on full charge and I'm just, I mean, I don't have the best battery or anything
[1199.62] Koel: But
[1200.62] Curry: Steve FPV says he uses halogen bulbs, which is what I used to do
[1204.62] Curry: You can bring them down very quickly
[1207.62] Curry: But you kind of have to manage that a bit manually
[1210.62] Curry: Yeah
[1211.62] Curry: And keep your eyes away from them
[1213.62] Curry: Because putting the energy through halogen bulbs is like
[1216.62] Curry: Wow, it's really bright in here all of a sudden
[1218.62] Curry: And they give them up a lot of heat

[1222.62] Koel: So this was, this was my, okay, flight of storage level battery
[1227.62] Koel: So I actually ended up flying over the river
[1229.62] Koel: And guess what, Curry?
[1231.62] Koel: This river is called the Thames River in London, Ontario, Canada
[1235.62] Curry: You're trying to rip us off
[1237.62] Curry: It's like, this is London, honest
[1239.62] Curry: Look, that's where the Thames is
[1241.62] Koel: I mean, we are part of the British, whatever, we are Canada
