[13.0] Jack: Massive thank you to … [14.0] Jack: Kollos Kempos! [15.0] Jack: Art Faulkner. [16.0] Jack: Sam Dahmer. [17.0] Frank: On with the show. [18.0] Frank: Let's drone out now. [19.0] Frank: Hello, and welcome back. [20.0] Frank: You're listening to Let's Drone Out. [21.0] Koel: So that must mean it's there. [51.99] Jack: Hello, and welcome back. [54.99] Jack: You're listening to Let's Drone Out. [57.99] Jack: So that must mean it's Thursday, roughly 8pm. [62.99] Koel: And we are very roughly 8pm. [66.99] Koel: I know. [68.99] Jack: And of course, we are joined by everyone's favourite mustache, Stephen. [74.99] Stephen: Hello. [75.99] Stephen: Good evening, everyone. [77.99] Jack: Everyone's favourite Canadian, Koll. [79.99] Jack: Howdy. [80.99] Jack: And I'm bright until I fly. [83.99] Jack: Hello. [84.99] Jack: Yeah. [85.99] Stephen: So, Jack, I received something in the post addressed to Mr. Stephen. [92.99] Stephen: Bellrick, Shiny Video Stuff, Esquire. [95.99] Stephen: The third left tenement. [97.99] Stephen: Do you know anything about this? [99.99] Jack: Yes, sir. [103.99] Stephen: What is this? [104.99] Stephen: We're not sure whether we can show the contents here because this is top secret. [109.99] Stephen: Let's drone our business here. [111.99] Koel: Uh-oh. [113.99] Stephen: Serious stuff. [117.99] Stephen: Now copyright friendly. [119.99] Stephen: And what do we have behind here? [121.99] Stephen: On my word. [122.99] Stephen: The one, the only. [124.99] Koel: The dog's dived. [127.99] Stephen: Oh, yeah. [129.99] Stephen: Hashtag. [131.99] Stephen: The one, the only. [133.99] Stephen: And it looks like we've got someone's happy endings as well. [137.99] Stephen: Oh, happy flyings, right? [140.99] Stephen: Looks like kind of a grey Sonic the Hedgehog. [144.99] Jack: Hey, Alpha Charlie. [145.99] Jack: I believe you you've watched Flow State. [150.99] Jack: Do you want to come on and chat about it? [152.99] Jack: Like, send me a message on Discord if you want to talk about it. [158.99] Jack: I re-watched it. [161.99] Jack: If you sign up to Plex, it's free on Plex. [165.99] Jack: The only thing is, is there's a few. [169.99] Jack: There's a few adverts in between. [172.99] Jack: You know, you watch it, but you can watch Flow State. [177.99] Stephen: I posted the link and then there was a hissy fit and apparently Bardwell told other people to take it down. [183.99] Stephen: But yeah, we had the link on the LDO Discord. [186.99] Stephen: So if you search for Flow State on the LDO Discord, you should be able to find it there. [190.99] Koel: Yeah, I don't think you don't actually need an account or sign in to watch it. [193.99] Koel: No, I'm watching it now. [196.99] Stephen: Yeah, but I think Bardwell was trying to monetize it, but he should be getting kickbacks from the advertising on that anyway. [203.99] Stephen: He wanted to shift all those hard copies. [205.99] Stephen: He's got a garage full of DVDs, I think. [208.99] Koel: He wants to move the physical in the realm of or in the era of non-physical media. [214.99] Stephen: He's got the man now has a lifetime supply of drinks coasters. [220.99] Jack: Yeah, don't we all? [222.99] Jack: Do you make you take it down because he's still got loads of physical copies. [228.99] Jack: He's trying to peddle. [230.99] Stephen: He wasn't ready to launch, I think was the phrasing. [233.99] Stephen: But yeah, it wasn't me. [235.99] Stephen: He made take it down. [236.99] Stephen: It was someone else after I posted it on their forum. [240.99] Stephen: How did it get out of the place in the first place? [242.99] Stephen: Made to take it down. [244.99] Stephen: He's published it. [246.99] Stephen: That's what I mean. [247.99] Koel: Yeah. [248.99] Stephen: Yeah, I mean, he indicated it out and it was one of the distribution platforms that he's indicated it to. [254.99] Stephen: And it was the most accessible international one. [256.99] Stephen: So, you know, I suggested that if people want to watch it, obviously you can't go to the cinema. [261.99] Stephen: No, it's not on like Amazon or anything. [264.99] Stephen: You couldn't buy a physical copy in my country. [268.99] Stephen: I'd have to buy it in the US and wait for snail mail to get from the US, which takes like about 10 times as long as stuff from China. [277.99] Stephen: So I was like, well, we just watch it online. [279.99] Stephen: It's the 21st century. [281.99] Stephen: Why not? [282.99] Koel: I mean, I guess it makes sense. [284.99] Koel: Like if if the place where he thinks he can make the most money is through the DVD sales or whatever they are. [291.99] Koel: If it's a DVD or Blu-ray. [296.99] Koel: Blu-ray. [297.99] Koel: Yeah. Yeah. [299.99] Koel: Then that makes sense. [301.99] Koel: But yeah, it's it's just not convenient. [303.99] Stephen: If you're in the US, I'm sure that, you know, you probably get a DVD from wherever he is in Knoxville out to where you are in a sensible amount of time. [312.99] Stephen: But Europe and then you've got to deal with, you know, tax and all that rubbish. [317.99] Koel: The problem for me is I would have to go buy a DVD player or Blu-ray player to even actually watch them. [323.99] Stephen: I don't even have one in the loft. [325.99] Jack: You can play DVDs on your Xbox, aren't you? [328.99] Jack: That's true. [329.99] Koel: On my Xbox 360, I sure can. [332.99] Jack: You can play DVD but you can't play Blu-ray. [335.99] Jack: Yeah. [336.99] Stephen: I'd have to go to the loft and get a DVD drive out. [340.99] Jack: Yeah, I can play them on my PS3 Blu-ray and DVD. [345.99] Jack: Nice. [346.99] Jack: So nice. [347.99] Koel: But you should buy two of them. [349.99] Koel: You should buy a Blu-ray and a DVD just to do it. [353.99] Stephen: No, not from hardware. [356.99] Stephen: It was okay. [357.99] Stephen: There was like a middle third of it that was just the FPV Freedom Coalition and it wasn't... [363.99] Stephen: I don't think they did a persuasive argument. [366.99] Stephen: A lot of it was just, oh, freedom, rah, rah, rah. [369.99] Stephen: And lots of people standing around with tents and placards and not really... [376.99] Stephen: Kind of lost me a bit then and I just fast-forwarded to get to the actual flying and discussion of the hobby, [382.99] Stephen: which was a bit more interesting. [385.99] Jack: I've always wanted to do a commentary track on it and this is a question for you, Karl. [395.99] Jack: When you watched it when you were first getting into FPV and everything was new and exciting, [401.99] Jack: but you did have me there as well and you literally saw my piss boil because... [411.99] Koel: Yeah. [413.99] Jack: But now that you've gone back and watched some old stuff and fact-checked me, should we say... [422.99] Stephen: What boiled your piss? [424.99] Jack: Well, admittedly, it was designed for them to be an argument about the freedom, [434.24] Jack: like, you know, remote ID's bad or whatever and it's against the constitutional rights or whatever. [444.24] Jack: But I found that they super, like... [450.62] Jack: Do you know, like, wartime films, you know, Second World War films? [458.62] Jack: You know how, like, it's almost if. [461.62] Jack: They're like, they're saying, without America, we would have never have won the war. [466.62] Stephen: That's the typical American war movie, like, yeah. [470.62] Stephen: America was the only army that fought against Germany in the Second World War. [475.62] Stephen: According to American war movies, everyone all stood around and asked the Americans to help and cried. [480.62] Jack: Yeah. [481.62] Koel: Yeah, but you have to remember who's making those movies is the Americans, right? [484.62] Koel: Yeah, of course, yeah. [486.62] Jack: It's like propaganda, but it was just how much it got American washed. [493.62] Jack: As in, like, there was photos of Chad Nowak because he's Australian. [499.62] Jack: No one mentioned who he was. [500.62] Stephen: Yeah, and that's where it lost me because it was also centered on the politics. [504.62] Stephen: And American politics are just like corruption and lobby groups. [508.62] Stephen: That's like, what's the point of even covering it? [511.62] Stephen: You know, you might as well just piss into the wind. [515.62] Jack: Yeah. [516.62] Jack: And it was like, yeah, any, yeah, any of you expressed on the guests of this show personally, [522.62] Jack: I may not affect the views of others. [524.62] Jack: And the other thing that really sort of like done my head in was like, Bani. [528.62] Jack: Bani won the whole, like, was it drone nationals or whatever? [534.62] Jack: Out in, you know, out in Dubai. [540.62] Jack: And like they covered that and there was photos of Bani, but no one said his name. [544.62] Jack: They were like, you know, but you guarantee if it was an American kid who won it, [552.06] Jack: they would have been all over that, you know, but I was just like, [556.06] Koel: we didn't know. I think I was very, I think he won multi GP, didn't he? [560.06] Koel: Or maybe there was a van over, right? [564.06] Koel: He, I'm talking about Bani. [567.06] Koel: Who? [569.06] Stephen: A guy ages ago before it was around, like going back to the early days of the hobby. [575.06] Stephen: There was a kid. [576.06] Koel: Oh, okay. Sorry. I thought you were saying Vani. [579.06] Stephen: No, Bani beef, a banana. [582.06] Koel: Okay. It's the British or that's the, my AirPods not coming through properly. [587.06] Stephen: No, sorry. [589.06] Stephen: I mean, it was interesting to look at some of the maneuvers and the evolution of flight styles and stuff, [596.06] Stephen: but it was always going to be a compromise to try and reach a decent audience. [601.06] Stephen: And because it had so many different objectives that didn't necessarily fit neatly in with each other. [606.06] Stephen: But I'm glad it was produced overall. [609.06] Stephen: I think maybe it was two different films squeezed into the same bag. [613.06] Stephen: There was one that was totally out of the hobby and another that was a political tangent [618.06] Stephen: that was sort of near the hobby, but wasn't really the same movie. [623.06] Koel: I actually did enjoy watching it the first time through. [626.06] Koel: It was, um, I think it was when it started getting into like the other politics side of stuff that I, [631.06] Koel: my brain just kind of shut off. And I was like, I live in Canada. [635.06] Koel: I don't know about any of this stuff and it doesn't pertain to me. [638.06] Koel: And I'm also like a noob. So like, you know, I mean, obviously we want freedom. [644.06] Koel: We want people to be able to fly their drones and do what they want. [646.06] Koel: But, you know, I wasn't really. [650.06] Stephen: It's all so dependent on which country you're in. [653.06] Stephen: The law, the laws all seem to want the same thing. [657.06] Stephen: Fly in safe areas, stay below a certain height, stay below certain weight limit and less blah, blah, blah. [663.06] Stephen: They're all broadly the same, but the local coverage and how they approach it seems to vary immensely country on country. [672.06] Stephen: I don't think people are doing any sort of let's fight the power here. [676.06] Stephen: It's going to recognize that probably want to kind of be responsible and you're not just going to go and try and rip five inch quads outside of schools and stuff. [687.06] Koel: That's yeah. And like diving, like buildings and big downtown city areas. [691.06] Koel: Yeah, that's super bad idea, right, guys? [695.06] Stephen: Yeah. Yeah. [698.06] Stephen: Unless it's a public holiday in which case, you know, it's fine. [701.06] Koel: Yeah. Public holidays and then you find an SD card. That's awesome. [704.06] Stephen: It's a special exemption. [705.06] Stephen: I think that's like when you've inherited from the old English bylaw system says if it's public holiday, you can like shoot people and dive tall buildings. It's fine. [713.06] Koel: Yeah. Oh, it looks like Richard work in the chat is asking anyone heading to FPV drone fest. [721.06] Koel: It looks like he was also about asking about who got they sold out apparently in one hour. [729.06] Koel: I think I read a short amount of time. I read they sold out in like a couple minutes from from fail safe. Yeah. So kudos to those guys. That's awesome. [738.06] Koel: I was I mean, I was down in the UK last summer and I went to FPV drone fest and yeah, that's really cool. [745.06] Koel: I'm not going to probably make it this year just because, you know, obviously the tickets are sold out now. [749.06] Koel: So I wouldn't even have a chance to do it. But yeah, hopefully it sounds like it's going to be a blast. [754.06] Jack: In theory, you could still go and then just go as a spectator, I guess. Yeah. [762.06] Stephen: Just be a rebel. Just fly there without a ticket. Yeah. FPV freedom. [773.06] Koel: I don't know. [777.06] Stephen: Yeah, I'm sure everyone going there have a great laugh. Yeah. Oh, yeah. [783.06] Stephen: Was that it looked a bit a bit more serious a bit, even though the distance is shorter, it was like down a dirt track and stuff. [789.06] Stephen: It seemed a bit harder to access. So I thought I'd pass on this one myself. Yeah, fair enough. Yeah. [795.06] Stephen: Yeah. There's going to be plenty of opportunities for FPV over the summer. So I'll just be doing them in different places. [802.06] Koel: Oh, actually, I guess I sold out in 20 hours. So my my estimate or my my source was wrong or I don't remember the source correctly. [816.42] Stephen: Oh, good luck. You know, I hope they end up syndicating this and we start to see little gatherings around the country because one of the big learnings isn't just, [826.42] Stephen: you know, let's run a website. Let's sell tickets. It's, you know, how to organize it, how to get through the local council, how to cut through the red tape. [835.42] Stephen: And FPV freedom line isn't just, you know, shouting, getting on YouTube and moaning. [843.42] Stephen: It's learning how to work within the framework of the law and how to, you know, be responsible pilot so that generations of pilots after us can continue to enjoy the hobby. [854.42] Koel: Yeah. Yeah. Well, that's really cool. That's like so well, they've done it for a few, you know, a bunch of years now, I guess, in a row. [860.42] Koel: So, you know, obviously, it's been successful enough that they continue to do it and they keep getting sponsorships and they're getting the, you know, getting the approval from whoever they need to to be able to actually throw it. [873.42] Koel: So that's awesome. That's good for the hobby. It's good for the community. [877.42] Stephen: There's great parts of the country that, you know, would be amazing to do FPV in. It's not just, I think right now they're doing a big drone fest in easy traveling distance for lots of people. [889.42] Stephen: But they sold out nice and quickly, which makes me hope that we might see a smattering of additional festivals in future years. [897.42] Stephen: Maybe they'll be one up in Scotland for the folks up there, perhaps Wales, get something in the southeast and start to make this more of a recurring, something that tracks more with like, you know, traditional BMFA flying events. [911.42] Stephen: But, you know, cut through the red tape, get accounts for approvals, do it all safe and above board. [916.42] Jack: How did you get on with the whole? Do you remember we had like a little chat about, you know, like getting regulated and stuff? [926.42] Jack: And I was speaking with Frank about this on Saturday about, you know, there is a there's an Acer for FPV, you know, that has got nothing to do with like line of sight. [944.42] Stephen: Did you look into any more of that? Did you get any? Yeah, I had a comment from Chris Bradbury and comment in the chat there from Alpha Charlie FPV. [955.42] Stephen: You will see some smaller one day festivals next year. So you heard here first, folks, there's going to be smaller FPV drone fests. All right, sweet. [964.42] Stephen: So that's Bani. Bani is the kid being choked out. Gotcha. [971.42] Jack: Surprisingly, I'm not surprised Chad's doing the killing because he's zany and fun like that. [980.42] Jack: But like earlier on, there was like a name tag at the bottom, but it's like, who's this guy? Who's this guy? [990.42] Jack: You know, like he's in the interview and obviously that's steel. But yeah, they never never say, oh, by the way, Bani won it. [1002.42] Jack: And then Chad has only ever talked about in the last day, you had like, like maybe mentioned his first name, never the second name. [1016.77] Jack: So if you do want to look him up, you wouldn't have a clue. You wouldn't have a clue. And if you did, they talk about Trappie that much in it or Trappie's in it. [1026.77] Koel: Oh, OK, OK. Yeah, it was. I haven't seen it for a while. So my my memory isn't the. Yeah, like my. [1033.77] Stephen: There's actually a who you know aspect. It was a lot of it was like Bardwell and friends. Yeah. Oh, yeah. [1039.77] Koel: Oh, yeah. You're a no Trappie. He was. They did. They did a whole segment on him in it, didn't they? Or like, yes. Yeah. Yeah. [1047.77] Peter: I mean, Trappie is American correction. Trappie is from the other USA, the unrelated state of Austria near enough. [1057.77] Jack: And you know, he he was the one who kind of had that first lawsuit that they had to then settle on it. So it was over and done. [1066.77] Jack: So it didn't like keep going back. [1071.77] Jack: But then obviously the thing is with Trappie is he lives out in Hong Kong. [1077.77] Jack: So like, you know, they they managed to like get, you know, get him and like, you know, record him. [1085.77] Jack: And it was just like no one. I don't know. I just kind of felt a bit sort of. Watch out for flow state, too. [1094.77] Stephen: Yeah, this time it's outside America. I don't think it ever will be. [1099.77] Jack: I mean, we've burned our bridge because of, you know, someone actively dislikes us. [1105.77] Jack: So, you know, I don't think I don't think LDO is ever going to really get a, you know, get a good chow. [1113.77] Jack: And, you know, a lot of the a lot of the people who kind of, you know, were back and like a big deal like Boris isn't around anymore. [1123.77] Jack: Like no one's heard from metal Danny at all. You know, black out. I had someone else where they went. [1130.77] Stephen: I think he had a reputation for living up to his name. A little bit of a problem with alcohol, maybe. [1137.77] Jack: Speculation. None of us know. [1140.77] Stephen: I thought I heard it from someone who said that wasn't speculation. That was a kind of a fact amongst the group. [1148.77] Koel: I heard it from someone who said that maybe it was not a speculation from a friend. I heard it through that friend. [1155.77] Stephen: Oh, anyway, on a more constructive note. So I got an email from Chris Bradbury BMFA. [1161.77] Stephen: So I asked saying I've, you know, flown multi rotors for a while. I'm looking at FPV certification. [1169.77] Stephen: How do I get the A-cert? And the reply is you can do any of the A-certs with any club examiner. [1178.77] Stephen: That's it, apparently. So which is odd because I've asked previously, like, conversationally to clubs. [1187.77] Stephen: And they've said, oh, yeah, no one here really flies multi rotors. We don't really know what's going on. [1192.77] Stephen: So, yeah, technically, you can do the certifications with any club examiner, including the FPV racing certificate. [1202.77] Stephen: But a lot of them, I don't know what's going to happen if you ask a club examiner to test you for FPV racing and they're flying like gas airplanes all the time. [1214.77] Stephen: I don't know how that's going to go down. Surely there's like shouldn't you be like at least 50 foot off the deck at all times because you might crash into a tree. [1224.77] Koel: There must be like some sort of database with like, you know, the specific examiners or, you know, here in Canada, they have their conflict. [1235.77] Stephen: Any of the A-certificates with any club examiner. So you should be able to reach out to any of your local clubs to find support. That's from BMFA. [1246.77] Stephen: The only tricky one in some respects being the FPV racing certificate. Why is that tricky? Well, you might need a couple of gates. [1255.77] Stephen: So as far as they're concerned, you could turn up to any of your local clubs and any of the examiners should be able to certify you for FPV racing. [1262.77] Stephen: So long as you bring a couple of gates with you. [1266.77] Stephen: I mean, I'd like to check that out that the trouble is I've I've tried my local clubs and I didn't I'm not really keen on being a member of any of them. [1275.77] Stephen: So it would be I guess I could do it. It's just like got to plunk down some cash and buy an annual membership for the BMFA and the club. [1287.77] Stephen: Yeah, I'm just going to have to go do it. [1290.77] Jack: Like my local one just said, flout no multirators. I don't know whether that's changed. [1296.77] Koel: Well, you can point them to the BMFA. Yeah, maybe there was a weird thing in Canada where like so there's Transport Canada, which is basically like your guy's CIA. [1310.03] Koel: And then there there are these I don't know why I can't think of it right now, but there's these like designated fields for, you know, for the plane guys and for the wing guys. [1321.03] Koel: Basically, they were they were sort of like, OK, yeah, if you have your registration with, you know, these specific wing fields or plane fields or whatever, you're fine. [1333.03] Koel: You're certified. Well, apparently, according to Transport Canada, they those fields were actually like against the regulations, but they are operating sort of almost pre-regulation for a very long time. [1347.03] Koel: So then they actually had to shut down all of the templated temporarily shut down all of these flying fields in Canada for a bit. [1355.03] Koel: And yeah, it stirred up quite a bit just because I mean, it's not really related to what we're talking about, but sort of is. [1361.03] Koel: But yeah, it's just the regulation side of it can be it can be confusing whether or not you're flying under one thing. [1371.03] Koel: But then, you know, the big dog at the top saying, no, that's not right. Or, you know, you want to get your A-certs for FPV or for multirotor. [1380.03] Koel: But then you go to the people who are supposed to certify you in it and they say, what do you mean? [1385.03] Koel: We don't we don't mess around with that stuff or we can't help you there. It's like it's a bit odd. [1393.03] Stephen: The latest update from wings and wheels, or should that be wheels now? No wings or X-class at wings and wheels. [1401.03] Stephen: There's some whoops, but no wings. So that's interesting. I guess it's just a bunch of RC cars and whoops now. [1410.03] Jack: Does Tony know about that tone? You just built an X-class for no reason. [1419.31] Stephen: Out. I don't know why they had to pull out. It's not really. I think the area is too small and the jets were getting a bit of a. [1429.31] Koel: Well, this is the breaking news. I see wings and wheels, drone festas whoops only this year. [1433.31] Koel: Can't squeeze in a big enough track for X-class or wings. [1438.31] Stephen: I mean, the flight line was kind of boring, to be honest. So I think I'll just skip it this year. [1447.31] Stephen: Yeah, not really into seeing the usual model jets just fly up and down, up and down, up and down. [1452.31] Koel: I might as well go to a proper air show. I'm a little bit far to make it to that. I think so. Yeah. [1459.31] Stephen: Just wait for one of the RAF air shows and go and see a proper aircraft. Yeah. Yeah. [1466.66] Jack: Yeah. Not enough safety from the crowd. Oh, my God. What from the jets? [1473.66] Jack: There's literally no bloody event for any multirotor this year. [1480.66] Stephen: They're complaining about the X-class safety, but they're flying all those turbine jets like 20 yards in front of the crowd. [1490.35] Stephen: How do they square that circle? [1493.6] Jack: Well, because they won all the room and hated us and begrudged us, really. Yeah. [1502.6] Jack: That's it. Nothing to go to this year. [1505.6] Jack: Pretty much. I'll just carry on flying as you were. Even more reason to go to FPV first. FPV drone first. Yeah. [1513.6] Stephen: Yeah, syndicate that stuff, guys. Come on ASAP. Hold on, Tony. [1518.6] Stephen: Hold on, Tony. How about we cut down that X-class and put some 40 mil props on. Oh, wait, 35 mil props on your X-class. [1526.6] Jack: Yeah, then you're good to go. You can run it as long as you run five inch props. No, no, no, not five inch. [1533.6] Stephen: But it's got to be there could be 35 mil props considering the motors of 42 means that the prop is actually smaller than the stator of the motor. [1545.6] Stephen: Do you reckon you could get away with that? Put on a little. I mean, you need to run like 24S at least in order to get any left. [1553.6] Koel: Yeah, it would just be for comedy. It'd be like whistles. Yeah, just have a have a ducted X-class would be hilarious. [1565.6] Stephen: Oh, I had a Jack emergency then. Oh, yeah. And they set fire to the field. Oh, what the planes did. Oh, geez. [1574.6] Stephen: I don't get this kind of like planes are safe and X-class are not. I mean, how big are the props on the front of a plane? [1582.6] Stephen: Oh, huge. Yeah. Well, yeah, they're a lot bigger than we're talking like proper scale aircraft, some of these. [1591.98] Stephen: So they'd be 12 inch plus props at least. Yeah. And they've got jet turbines with kerosene. So, you know, yeah, it could be just a risk assessment wise, a tank of kerosene and a turbine. [1608.98] Koel: More impactful over a crowd. Yeah. Hey, that's interesting. Well, who knows? Yeah. Oh, Dominic said they've all got batteries or fuel and can all catch fire, right? [1623.22] Stephen: Yeah. So a numbskull says up to two foot props. Wow. Slice an arm off, right? Like, I don't know, man. [1631.22] Stephen: Yeah. So it's just the traditional message like Jack was saying with flying clubs. Yeah, you're welcome. And until we find a good enough excuse, in which case, no, thank you. Go away. Yeah. Oh, well. Yeah, you've been there. It won't be a problem forever. I mean, they're all very old. So fair enough. Yeah. [1650.22] Frank: This episode was recorded in front of a live online audience, downloaded and edited to make sense when it played audio only, censored to please the iTunes people hosted on the internet, forwarded through to your podcast provider, downloaded, playing on your device and is now playing in your ears. [1665.22] Frank: All thanks to our Patreons. Consider joining them and you'll also get other online benefits. Find out more at patreon.com. [1676.22] Stephen: I was just going to say, you've been out to any flying at all the last little bit or? Yeah, I am. Got the 10 S quads stuck in a tree. Oh, so there's that. You got it down, I'm guessing. Yeah, eventually got it down. And then I plugged batteries in again. And the ESC didn't initialize. Oh, so. [1698.22] Stephen: I did the only sensible thing and ordered another four in one 12 S ESC. Oh, this time not from FedEx. No, but I neutron RC. And I've asked Alka, the guy that does AM 32. And he says, Yeah, yeah, I can support that. And he's put up a firmware build for it. So good to do a little test out, see how that flies on AM 32, which I think I trust a bit more than the FedEx one, which [1727.22] Stephen: just seemed to initialize really badly. He would work one motor would initialize quickly, and then the other two would go and then you'd wait like a couple of seconds. And eventually the last one come in. And I checked the wiring loom, like check the JSTs. It was all perfectly connected. It was the wiring was all clean. And I, you know, D soldered resoldered everything. And it was just, it was not great from the outset. [1755.22] Stephen: We shall see, but I did have lots of fun flying the three and a half inch. I zipped through the trees a lot with this little three and a half inch with walk snail on it. And yeah, like my wife was there with the dog. The dog was very calm and relaxed about being flown near. I purposefully didn't try and agitate her because I want the dog to be cool. Bob the dog, want her to be cool about quads. [1780.22] Stephen: Yeah, it's good. I'm quite impressed with the distance I got out of walks now, even in quite a dense, overgrown area, because I was flying in this like clearing in the middle of the woods and had some visibility down some paths. So I was zipping along some paths and going back and yeah, it was great. That was took quite a bit of distance to get break up on the walk snail system. I think it did better than DJI. People say, Oh, they they're about the same time. [1810.22] Stephen: They're about the same, but I think when you start to go in heavily wooded areas where there's a lot of detail on the image, the DJI would turn into like a load of bathroom tiles of green and brown. Just a little mush where it walks now would hold in there a little bit. Yeah, that's good. Yeah, that's interesting. [1828.22] Koel: Um, I haven't really done much flying in the past week. Actually, I haven't done any flying in the past week. I've just been, uh, well, the thing is for me is I have so much footage to catch up on and for editing that, uh, I mean, I would love to go out and fly more, but then it's like, I have such a backlog. [1846.22] Koel: I've got other stuff to do. So it's, it's, it does make it tricky, but yeah, no, I, uh, nothing really, nothing new and exciting for me, but I'm, I did order actually, um, I just bought a new, I got the, uh, the kiss ultra mini, mini one, the, the small ultra V two mini board. So I'm, I'm hoping to build up a little whoop, some kind of sitting up. I don't know if I'm going to do like a, uh, [1875.22] Koel: there's like a, well, there's a few of them. There's not the center log, but the shoot, I can't remember the name of the other, the other frame right now, but, um, there's a couple of frames I've been looking at trying to figure out what kind of whoop I'm going to make. Cause it's, uh, yeah, it's, uh, I don't know. There's something about the, the sort of small form factor of a whoop and be able to fly, you know, differently than a five inch, like five inches fun freestyling and everything. But, uh, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, [1905.22] Koel: I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I [1935.22] Koel: Well, there's kind of, I have two ideas with it. It's either naked GoPro or, or the hero [1941.74] Koel: 10 bones or, or just go digital with it. And then just use the Oh three air unit and get [1948.02] Koel: a frame where it sticks out far enough where you won't get props and shot. So I guess with [1952.06] Koel: most sitting up, so you don't really have to worry too much about that, I guess, depending [1955.78] Koel: how you mount that. [1956.78] Stephen: They're all designed exactly for filming even at zero degrees. So you should be clear. Yep. [1962.98] Stephen: I do remember Tony saying that while he could fly his, he had a three inch Senna whoop and [1967.66] Stephen: while he could fly it indoors, the amount of thrust it took to lift because it's quite [1972.54] Stephen: heavy. Yeah. You can't just fly it over a table. It'll knock everything off the table. [1977.82] Stephen: Oh really? Just cause it's so gusty. Yeah. Well, he was flying a full-size GoPro and [1983.5] Stephen: because he's once a bit of flight time, he's flying a full-size GoPro with like a 13 hundred [1989.54] Stephen: four S. Oh wow. And so it weighs like the same amount as a five inch, but it's having [1995.86] Stephen: to like get the same amount of thrust that a five inch needs to hover at three inch props. [2000.9] Stephen: Yeah. So the actual like amount of air that those three inch props are moving is pretty [2006.78] Stephen: heavy for sure. And if you fly it over something, it just blows all the stuff off a table. So [2011.7] Stephen: there's a world of difference between like a little one S kind of 40 mil prop that weighs [2016.98] Stephen: 20 grams dry. It doesn't really need to move a lot of air, but the, the bigger they get [2022.54] Stephen: that the more push they have to produce and the more kind of obvious I guess they can [2028.62] Stephen: be if you're flying them around a typical dwelling. Yeah. The thing about like, I never [2033.94] Koel: really understood why people try to put full-size GoPros on a whoop. It just seems a bit counter [2038.34] Koel: intuitive as far as it's what people had to start with. True. Yeah. I mean, but these [2042.54] Koel: days it's like, yeah, I guess it does take a whole other skill to, to D case a GoPro [2047.98] Koel: though. It's like, it's kind of a, I guess it's a little bit tedious and it can be costly [2052.98] Koel: if you, if you screw something up, but, uh, I was actually, I was chatting with, um, I'm [2057.94] Koel: not sure if I'm saying his name right, but I think it's Michaelis. Uh, he's on the, the [2063.34] Koel: kiss ultra team. He, uh, he does a lot of sort of like whoop stuff and he does a whole [2068.66] Koel: bunch of stuff, but yeah, I was chatting with him and he was recommending the, uh, [2072.22] Koel: the gap RC Cinnabot 30, I think it was, or maybe the 25. I can't remember which one it [2077.34] Koel: was, but apparently those are, you know, sweet little, you know, 25 or two and a half, three [2083.9] Koel: inch whoops that, you know, if you go, if you, I mean, I think he flies analog, but, [2090.02] Koel: uh, on, on his, but I mean, if I'm going to do it, I might go digital, hard to say, but, [2096.5] Koel: um, yeah, it's a cine bottle, cine log, cine bot, cine bot. Apparently the cine log, I [2104.22] Koel: think that the cine log has been out for a while. Um, yeah, so I'm not sure. I think, [2111.14] Koel: I think the cine bot is the one that's a little bit more new and improved sort of stuff. [2115.74] Stephen: So I remember gap RC when this craze arrived, they were doing a lot of models and they seem [2121.34] Stephen: to get pretty good reviews, even from the likes of Bob Ruggie, who's, you know, notoriously, [2127.14] Stephen: um, fussy about what he likes and doesn't like in quads. He, he reviewed a couple of [2131.34] Koel: the gap RC models and quite like them. Yeah. Well, and there's also even like the axis [2136.38] Koel: flying cine on 30. Um, and they're all very, they're, they're basically all in the same [2142.5] Koel: sort of category classification, but, um, they do seem compelling, man. They seem pretty [2149.38] Stephen: cool. It looks very light. Yeah. The cine bot specifically, it looks more like, um, [2155.1] Stephen: you know, the traditional woop where you've got the plastic frame with the little kind [2160.46] Stephen: of pyramid canopy in the middle. It's like one of those, but inverted. So it's a pusher [2166.5] Stephen: with a carbon fiber brace that's mounted on top of the plastic frame. And then typical [2172.9] Stephen: kind of, um, camera cage and things put on there. It looks pretty tough. Yeah. Nicely [2178.66] Koel: designed. Yeah. It's a, it does look, uh, it does peak my interest. Let's just say that [2183.34] Koel: cause I don't know. I mean, whether or not I need a cine whoop or whether I just want [2189.1] Koel: one, I don't know, but it would be really cool to have something small, compact that [2195.58] Stephen: would you be flying in the club? Cause you do some club photography now and then I mean, [2199.54] Koel: I guess technically it could be a possibility. I mean, I know the club does already have [2204.14] Koel: like a FPV whoop guy, um, who's actually a buddy of mine actually. So, um, I don't know [2210.02] Stephen: why. Maybe you could team up. He could like, uh, you know, getting on his insurance and [2213.82] Stephen: permit and give it a spin around the club with a, yeah. Well, I'll see the thing is [2217.98] Koel: while I'm there though, I'm busy with my own camera. So like he's doing the video stuff [2222.18] Koel: or the, the, you know, the other woop stuff I'm doing the, the camera stuff, but that [2227.94] Koel: would be pretty cool though. You know, even just being able to do practice run before [2232.38] Koel: the club is even like open and just be cool to see, you know, what it's like flying in [2236.7] Stephen: that type of environment. Yeah. I'm seeing this thing. There's measurements on the gap [2242.42] Stephen: RC site, um, 127 millimeter motor to motor and the actual wheel base. If you like the [2250.06] Stephen: full chassis is a 180 mil by 180 mil, which is seven inch square basically. Wow. Not too [2260.46] Koel: bad. Yeah. Yeah. The, uh, the guy that does the, all the sort of FPV sinner whip stuff [2266.46] Koel: in the club I work at, his name's, uh, Steven, Steven, he's in, he's from Toronto. He goes [2271.42] Koel: by S one w drones or whatever, but yeah, he does a bunch of stuff. Like he, um, he does [2277.58] Koel: everything from the smallest little cine whips all the way up to, you know, massive cine [2281.9] Koel: lifters. So, um, it's, it's pretty impressive to see what can be done, I guess, you know, [2288.66] Stephen: from all different platforms. Yeah. We've got, we've got some encouragement from num [2292.38] Stephen: skull who says raves are fun to fly. Um, make sure you don't have too much fun before, uh, [2299.38] Stephen: plugging in. Um, and then, uh, Brian FBV, you don't need a cine whoop. Um, I don't know [2304.74] Stephen: whether he's saying you just could use the GoPro or maybe implying you just ripped the [2308.3] Stephen: five inch and, uh, you know, so long as you're flying around the more kind of, uh, well pickled [2315.82] Stephen: members of the nightlife, they may not notice. Yeah. It'd be fine. Yeah. Or just, you know, [2321.42] Koel: pull the X class and just, uh, yeah, bust out the X class in the club. You know, that [2326.5] Koel: should be fine. Might have a bit of, might need some good liability insurance. I mean, [2331.78] Stephen: even with the cine woop, you need to be very careful. Like you're flying next to someone [2337.5] Stephen: with long hair. Yeah. It flips out because of the prop draft. If it goes anywhere near [2343.54] Stephen: those motors, you're going to be having a bad night. Yeah. That is one thing that I [2349.1] Koel: noticed. Like it's funny cause I'm in this, uh, I'm in a group on Facebook called cine [2354.22] Koel: whoppers and I'm not sure if you guys are in it or not, but, uh, I thought you're going [2358.46] Stephen: to be like, I'm in a group on Facebook called quad stuck in my hair. Well, that would be [2364.58] Koel: funny actually. Um, but no, so sadly enough, well, or maybe not sadly, but you know, coincidentally [2371.38] Koel: enough that we're talking about this, there was this guy and let me see if I can find [2376.02] Koel: the clip because I mean, that's exactly what happened. He was like flying a cine woop around [2381.62] Koel: a model that was like standing on a car and he, oh, basically the model whipped her hair. [2387.7] Koel: Like she was just like, you know, adjusting her hair or something. Well, the hair literally [2391.42] Koel: just grabbed the cine woop or the cine woop grabbed the hair and it just like ate her [2395.62] Koel: hair. And, but surprisingly she was really chill about it and she was kind of like, yeah, [2402.02] Koel: I was very surprised. Like she was kind of like laughing. I want to see if I can find [2405.62] Koel: the clip. I feel like he probably took it down because I put the photographer would [2409.14] Stephen: be walking away with like lacerations from nails all over there, like face and arm. Yeah. [2416.86] Stephen: Well you'd think tangle it. Yeah. It's that's remarkably brave and understanding considering [2422.18] Stephen: the hair is, you know, what's doing the work when she's standing there on top of the car. [2427.78] Koel: I know. And you know what? I can't find the dang clip anymore, which is so sad. And yeah, [2434.74] Koel: I think maybe, maybe it got taken down, but yeah, that was quite interesting. So how about [2440.74] Koel: you, Jack? You've been up to anything you've been flying at all. [2444.14] Jack: No, it's been, it was a bank holiday. So yeah, like, yeah, nothing happened. I've not been out. [2455.18] Koel: That's no fun. [2457.66] Stephen: I know. [2459.42] Stephen: We have a question from Dom looking for EU or China suppliers [2464.14] Stephen: for frames. And I do know that there was a supplier in Italy, I think, or Spain for the [2474.3] Stephen: AOS stuff. So I was going to suggest that. I think Farin's Frames. I don't know if anyone's used them. [2481.98] Stephen: Has anyone used Farin's Frames? No, I have not. [2487.1] Stephen: Based in Italy, Farin's Frames, F-A-R-I-N-S. [2490.7] Stephen: Yeah, they carry Chris's designs. [2495.1] Jack: Yeah, you should be, you shouldn't have a problem if you go with any other European Union supplier, [2502.46] Jack: because he won't have to pay import. So as long as it's from the EU. I mean, [2514.3] Stephen: obviously, you want quick shipping, so it would help to get EU supplier for that. [2519.1] Jack: Yeah. You know, there was the German one, the NT company. Like, you could ask [2531.89] Jack: in the Kiss Ultra Discord, or ask Alexander. He's probably got a few contacts. [2539.25] Jack: Because all those guys, you know, they're all still part of the European Union. [2545.89] Stephen: There's these guys here. [2548.05] Jack: Nice little, like, braced arms and stuff. Chris Rossell would be proud. [2556.29] Stephen: Well, it's his frame, yeah. It's the European cutting place that he's got to do his frames. [2562.53] Jack: The AOS. [2565.25] Stephen: It's what I've been flying recently. He's got the new faceplate there, which is designed to take [2571.09] Stephen: these DJI-03 cameras or the other cameras that have gyros in. So I think you get some [2578.13] Stephen: inserts that go between the frame plates and the camera for a bit of vibration resistance. [2585.01] Stephen: Yeah, that would be quite popular. [2589.09] Jack: How we went really, really small, because like the VTX started to get really tiny and everything. [2596.53] Jack: And then, you know, DJI has come along and now frames have to be bigger in order to incorporate [2603.33] Jack: the air units, the VISTAs and the O3 air unit with the big cameras. [2609.09] Stephen: Races are still using 14mm cameras. I mean, there's just more of a split between freestyle [2614.37] Stephen: and racing. Races are obsessed with super light stacks and they're still down at 20mm. I think [2621.01] Stephen: everyone's using 20mm stacks now, but the 14mm cameras, it's hard to find a racing frame that [2627.09] Stephen: takes a camera bigger than the nano size now. Yeah. I was actually, I was going to show you [2633.33] Koel: guys something. I don't know if you saw this on Facebook or not, but so check out this disaster. [2642.13] Koel: So basically there was some kind of cinema pilot that was flying at EDC, which is a big, [2648.93] Koel: you know, electronic music festival in, I think it's in Vegas. And as you'll see, [2654.21] Koel: he's flying over the crowd and I think he whips around the DJ and, you know, all is well. [2661.33] Koel: And so yeah, you see him, he's kind of whipping behind the DJ here on the stage, [2665.33] Koel: does a little orbit, you know, and turns around, I think, should be turning around in a moment here. [2673.17] Koel: Um, yep. And he's, you know, kind of doing a little stage cruise or sorry, [2678.05] Koel: crowd cruise. And then I don't know what happened, but oh, look at that. [2683.89] Koel: Just crashed right into the crowd, right? Well, there, where's the video? There was, [2690.21] Koel: it was actually, this girl got her, the drone crashed into her face apparently. [2695.41] Koel: And it was all caught in her hair and she, they got the drone, they kept the drone afterwards, [2701.49] Koel: but this was the drone here. So, um, I'm not sure if you can tell what that is. Obviously [2706.93] Koel: it's some kind of digital thing. It looks like the GoPro is on some kind of interesting looking [2713.17] Koel: Mount there. Um, but it looks like a motor broke off or maybe they had to break the motor or cut [2719.81] Koel: the wires to get it out of her hair. Um, but I guess afterwards, yeah, they just had a free drone, [2727.65] Koel: which is kind of funny. But again, this girl was like super chill about it. She wasn't even like, [2734.85] Koel: she wasn't mad. She was like totally okay with it. And I'm just like, wow. [2740.69] Stephen: Well, yeah. I mean, uh, you just gotta get ready for the, for the drone to hit, you know? [2745.65] Koel: Yeah. Oh yeah. Like Dominic says, at least I had prop guards on it. Yeah. Like, [2751.01] Koel: I mean, I feel like it's still, I feel like even that size of drone to the face, [2756.37] Koel: that carbon fiber to the face probably wouldn't feel very nice, but it's a lot of carbon fiber. [2761.81] Koel: At the same time, I feel like I might potentially be okay with it. If I got to keep the drone [2768.37] Koel: afterwards, I'd be like, Oh, I can fix this. And Oh, now I've got an air unit and a naked GoPro [2774.53] Koel: and a bruise on my face, but the bruise will heal and I can repair this goat or this drone. [2779.81] Stephen: So yeah. Why would you fly [2786.96] Stephen: any system? You should be range testing that with like a substantial amount of noise tolerance. [2793.04] Koel: You shouldn't. Well, see, I wonder, I don't know what happened there. It kind of looked like a [2798.08] Koel: fail safe. It was a bit weird, but it looks a lot like a fail safe. Yeah. And I mean, [2803.36] Koel: there's a lot of, uh, you know, transmitters and, and, you know, stuff going on at those [2809.52] Koel: types of festivals where like they're sending video, you know, they've got wireless lighting [2814.8] Koel: control and stuff like that that might be blasting out. Yeah. Wireless mics, the mics, the video sends [2821.28] Stephen: the yeah. Well, I'm glad no one was hurt because the last thing you want is like, once again, [2830.93] Stephen: demonized because someone got hit in the face when they were trying to enjoy themselves at [2835.89] Jack: a concert. It's not what you want. Technically, she steal it. If she didn't give it back, [2843.09] Koel: how would she have known who's it was? Yeah, Troy. I mean, if someone like [2850.93] Stephen: crashes and something flies off their car and hits you in the head and you [2855.89] Stephen: don't notice it till later, have you stolen it? Like, [2858.45] Jack: no, well, she noticed it. It did smack her in the face. [2864.53] Koel: I think that that's ample reason to keep it. And, and like, oh, it's almost fair. You, you take it [2870.45] Stephen: off the floor and then be like, uh, well, what, I guess we got to give it back. And then you're in [2876.53] Stephen: the middle of a stadium with a hundred thousand other people thinking, uh, where do we take this? [2882.21] Stephen: And you know, the instant they finished the gig, it's like, open the doors and throw everyone out [2886.61] Stephen: the stadium as quickly as possible. So probably just like, now we're in the street and we still [2891.25] Koel: got this. Hi, I have this drone. I would like to return it to the rightful owner. It's like, [2897.89] Stephen: show me this quite nerdy people. Yeah. Yeah. It really, it should have been, there's probably, [2903.73] Koel: there could have been some kind of like potential, you know, lawsuit, even with that. Right. Like, [2909.33] Stephen: maybe, but yeah, who knows? It did make me wonder like why these people go and see DJs because the [2918.45] Stephen: guy's just standing on the stage and he's like, press go on a sequence. He just jumps up and down [2924.93] Koel: and waves his arms. He's like, he's like pretending that he's pressing buttons on his mixer and stuff. [2930.45] Koel: Dude, I literally work in a club. So I see that every weekend. It's like, [2935.17] Stephen: at least get a chaos pad and make it look like you're busy with something, you know? [2938.93] Koel: Yeah. Outrageous. Well, I will say there are still DJs out there that do [2944.05] Koel: mix live on the spot. So, you know, yeah, do a bit of beat matching, you know? Yeah. [2950.45] Koel: Just work, work for that applause. Oh, actually one thing that's kind of funny about, you see that, [2956.53] Koel: you know, work for that applause, right? Well, I saw this DJ one time on the mixer. He had [2963.65] Koel: programmed a button that actually triggered an applause sound with some reverb on it. [2969.17] Koel: So it made it sound like the crowd was like going crazy. I'm just like, dude, smart thinking. [2978.05] Koel: Like, damn, that's a way to make it seem like the crowd's really into you. [2983.09] Koel: But I look like battery sank probably. Oh, yeah. Those batteries only last like what? [2990.69] Stephen: Maybe two, three minutes at most. That's why I don't know. I don't think that was well, [2996.53] Stephen: he'd have had to be assuming. So he is flying at the drone pilot would have had to be pretty dumb [3001.09] Stephen: to be flying over the crowd with the battery dropping out that much. Yeah. If you're flying [3006.29] Stephen: at a live gig, you're not flying. Your battery is down below three point seven volts a cell. [3010.53] Koel: Are you? No, you're going for a right landing time swap. Yeah. You're giving yourself a good [3015.49] Koel: buffer room. And then, you know, even if it's like, you know, you got to play on the safe side. [3020.93] Jack: Right. So I just think if the if the girl did get caught up or hit with that drone, you think she [3027.97] Jack: would contact the organizers and be like, who was flying that drone? Yeah. You know, like who the [3037.65] Jack: F did this? Yeah, because I got here. Surely there'll be like some sort of like, you know, [3045.49] Koel: apology at least for her. Yeah. Or like, yeah, people are saying like, oh, you should get free [3050.85] Koel: tickets for life for this or whatever. It's like, here's the thing, though, to a good proportion, [3056.13] Koel: a good portion of people at those events are, you know, not quite fully aware of what's going on. [3063.89] Koel: Let's just say so you may not have felt that drone for a couple of minutes. Yeah, exactly. So, [3070.13] Koel: yeah, it's who knows. But yeah, it's I guess it is what it is. Always air on the side. Walked away [3082.18] Stephen: from it. And, you know, no permanent damage was done. Yeah. It was the best outcome really, [3086.66] Stephen: isn't it? Yep. Easy to replace carbon. Oh, yeah. It is a bit of a weird one. A little bit. [3095.54] Koel: What else has been going on this week? It is a good question. I was trying to follow up on [3102.82] Koel: some FPV stuff, but I mean, maybe I'm out of the loop. I didn't see anything too notable this [3110.02] Koel: week, really. I don't know. Maybe I'm just out of the loop. I flew last weekend, not this weekend, [3125.31] Jack: but last weekend tried the O3A unit. And I don't know whether I mentioned that live on the show. [3133.23] Koel: That was kind of interesting. Oh, yeah. I think you did mention it where it kind of gave you a bit [3138.75] Jack: of an uneasy feeling. Yeah, a little bit motion sick, not too bad. And I now fully understand [3147.71] Jack: what Stephen was saying about the whole like tree blurry, you know, in focus mode, [3154.51] Jack: like you kind of like moved like you're a bit and the sort of like walls, either side of your head, [3161.79] Jack: those bits were like very, very blurry. Weird. So, I mean, what's worse though? Is analog [3171.63] Koel: break up worse than that? Or would you prefer that over analog breakup? [3177.07] Jack: I'm just used to, I don't know. Yeah, I'm quite, I'm used to like analog breakup. And if you do [3185.55] Jack: have a problem, it kind of like lets you know. So there's like a little bit you can do about it. [3190.75] Jack: But yeah, I can't see the details or like the tops of grass and you know, everything is like [3199.23] Jack: so painfully sharp. Like, you know, even I mean, I've got a stigmatism in my left eye. And I was [3207.55] Jack: able to like adjust the optics, because it wasn't the integral in integral version. And I got to [3216.03] Jack: try it out. And yeah, it was it was pretty incredible. I don't know whether I'd really want [3221.39] Jack: to spend, I don't feel like I'd want to spend that much on that system to just get that. [3228.91] Koel: And for freestyle, like, you also have to update your frame to actually make it work with it too. [3236.43] Jack: Like, yeah, there's a lot kind of. Yeah, I just for the little amount that I fly, [3244.67] Jack: and the weather in the UK. It was like, you know, it's like this Taranis. Everyone was like, Oh, [3251.95] Jack: you've had the Tranis years. This is a 2019 model. I did not get this via the first batch. [3258.91] Jack: And then I had to order it from Banggood back when they were a thing. So I got this late 2019. [3267.71] Jack: Then it was locked down for two or three years. [3270.99] Jack: 2023, I was in my operation. So I missed that year of flying. And then obviously picked up [3283.55] Jack: quite early with a few trips down to him Valley, when all the stars align. And you know, and then [3292.83] Jack: I'm still having the your problem. And it's either wiring or it's the actual gimbal, you know, [3303.23] Jack: and do I really want to spend another 20 quid to change out the gimbal? I've fully taken it apart. [3309.79] Jack: I got rid of the black gunk. I can't think of what else is the problem with this. [3316.91] Jack: You know, and it would mean taking it out, you know, and then going to use it for a couple of [3324.51] Jack: times whilst carrying up a backup radio in order to do it. But I was like, that that transmitter [3332.59] Jack: has done no mileage. And it has been nothing but problems. Yeah, that would make me definitely [3341.07] Koel: question continuing to use it. Yeah. But you have upgraded now, right? So yeah. Yeah. But, you know, [3352.59] Jack: this poor thing, you know, I've had to done the internal module, got a new back for it. [3360.27] Jack: So this has been, you know, Jackified inside. Oh, did you 3D print that gimbal protector? [3368.51] Jack: No, it comes with it. It's silicone. Oh, cool. So it's not it's all. [3375.15] Jack: Well, you said you Jackified the boxer. Yeah. Well, he had a four in one and I was like, [3383.47] Jack: you know, it needs the LRS inside it. So that way I can I can have, you know, I can then start [3392.11] Jack: thinking about, you know, using, you know, using the module bay for ghost using the ghost. Yeah. [3399.15] Koel: So would you is it safe to say that you jacked off your boxer? Hmm. No. [3406.83] Stephen: Oh, I opened it up quite difficult. I think you jacked it off pretty hard. [3412.67] Jack: I opened it up had to like had to resold some of the standoff pillars that the screws go into it. [3422.67] Jack: And had to dig out for different screws because they weren't the right length to use some of the [3430.43] Jack: screws that were used for the old module that were shorter to then hold the fan module in there. [3440.11] Jack: And also figure out how to take the bloody boxer apart that that because they got the headphone [3450.51] Jack: ports in the top, the PCB is like wedged in there. You have to spudger the TV out of there. [3460.91] Jack: And there's a lot of yeah, there's a lot of a lot of witness marks and Jack Chewy marks [3470.11] Jack: China in order to do that. So if you have a four in one and you want to put a module in there, [3476.99] Stephen: you're best off selling. Did you see radio radio master posts on Instagram? It's [3487.23] Stephen: also see radio master posting on Instagram. No, they posted something near and dear to my heart. [3498.75] Stephen: No, that can only mean one thing. Something that is yellow. [3502.35] Stephen: No, tastelessly covered, colored radios. Absolutely. Oh, is this a replacement for your jumper? [3511.58] Stephen: Don't speak about my poor little jumper like that. I knew I had to do something with [3516.22] Stephen: yellow when it was Steven jumpers. That's the important thing. One, you're looking at specs [3523.18] Stephen: and technical proficiency and two nice bright colors. Right. So that's the two things we're [3528.86] Stephen: looking for. Of course, I can't seem to search Instagram because reasons that's always nice. [3533.02] Koel: And then there's me who's like, all right, as long as the specs are pretty good, [3537.26] Koel: but as long as it's got to be blacked out, I'm like, just don't know what matters, [3541.42] Stephen: mate. You don't, you know, getting it wrong. Yeah. It's got to be just completely and utterly [3547.74] Koel: tasteless. That's what going. See, I personally wish that there was like, you know, those, [3553.34] Koel: you know, those cars where when the sun hits it on different angles, it like changes color like [3558.14] Stephen: Min Chang Kim MCK. Have you seen the MCK versions of radio masters? No, that's what you want. [3565.42] Koel: Yes. Yes. Show. So he's got the, oh, darn, you're right. Let's see. I got it. I found it. [3576.85] Koel: So it's like, whatever you, what is it? What do you call that though? [3582.05] Koel: Iridescent. Yes. Iridescent color. That is pretty cool. [3588.37] Stephen: Very cyberpunk-ish kind of. Yeah. I think we did a pretty nice job on that. It's a fun move. [3598.82] Stephen: If you do like the blame for our audio listeners, what you're looking at is absolutely iridescent, [3604.02] Stephen: sort of moving between turquoise and purple and gold as it hits the light. That's pretty Larry. [3612.34] Stephen: Unmistakable. But let me just present some more tastelessness here just to show you the [3621.65] Stephen: horribleness that we're talking about needs more seasoning. If you thought that, you know, [3626.69] Stephen: radio master just being read enough, you know, check these puppies out. Oh, my word. Look at that. [3632.45] Koel: I would say the yellow one is the best out of all of them, to be honest. Well, I mean, thank you. [3636.77] Koel: Thank you for towing the line. Yeah. Correct answer. I mean, I don't know. The green is like [3643.09] Koel: I don't know. Is that more you? That one. That one is a little greenish. It's on the green side [3652.32] Jack: for Steven. Oh, carry on, Steven. Oh, yeah. I think I think it's easy wipe sex toys, [3666.72] Jack: you know, sort of plasticy polish it up. Yeah. You know, very and summers. [3675.44] Koel: I did like the clear nostalgic kind of style case. That was cool. [3680.8] Stephen: It looks like they've got kind of that cast style clear coat where it's got a real high [3684.48] Stephen: gloss where the light hits it. It's quite fun. And Sakura Pink, which is a kind of translucent pink. [3691.04] Stephen: No, I like that one. I like that one. Yeah. And 64 style. Yes. [3700.72] Stephen: You know, you're going to fly better with something like that. I mean, [3703.12] Koel: oh, without a doubt. Yeah. That was, you know what? Speaking of N64, [3710.93] Koel: that was really cool that they did that. I would just have to say, [3715.73] Stephen: and then there's this guy as well, which caught my eye. [3718.61] Jack: That must be that is a bit of you come off it. The radio master lemon yellow matters anything. [3725.65] Koel: How could you say that's a lemon yellow, though? That's more like it's a bit too green. [3729.49] Stephen: It looks like I'm green, not lemon yellow. Your screens are not calibrated. [3735.41] Koel: Dude, it literally says in the description. Look, there's the one that you're calling yellow. [3740.13] Koel: There's the other one. They call it bright, silvery green. Even on that Instagram. [3743.97] Stephen: That is clearly yellow. Yeah. That is not the same color as that. No, no. [3750.53] Koel: Well, even the description on that Instagram post, it says bright, silvery green. So man, [3755.49] Jack: that's quite yellow to me. You need to calibrate your monitor. [3760.93] Stephen: Celebrate your. Yeah. When were you last working with photo content? A, A, A. [3766.05] Stephen: I was speaking. And also the spiky sticks, which is another radio master thing. They've [3772.21] Stephen: been making a big broo-ha-ha about. You might see that the stick ends are like little medieval [3779.81] Stephen: clubs with millions of tiny spot. Doesn't that hurt your fingers? [3784.45] Stephen: Actually, I have some and you kind of recoil initially because you're like, that's weird. [3790.61] Stephen: But then your fingers just don't slip. That's just perfect grip. So you just push them in and [3797.57] Stephen: they stay. It's not like you need to hammer your fingers on them. If you think about it, [3801.73] Stephen: what you don't want is barely if you move your fingers at an odd angle on the stick while you're [3806.77] Stephen: flinging it side to side is for your finger to slip. So yeah, it just stops the slippage. [3813.25] Jack: That's pretty cool. Still a lot of talk. [3819.81] Jack: It's promising. Will Steven abandon jumper? [3824.53] Stephen: I know that jumper is good. It's got the AGL1 mini gimbals in it, which makes it pretty amazing. [3831.81] Stephen: It gets really good battery life as well. We'll see. [3837.09] Jack: Well, unfortunately, that is all we've got time for. You've been listening to Lettering Out. [3843.17] Jack: It's been a whole hour of just catching up, having a bit of a chill. It's nice to meet up [3848.37] Jack: with you guys. Cory, you were dearly missed, my friend. We miss our dad, our FPV dad. [3857.57] Jack: Don't leave us, dad. Come home. He won't be back next week.
