[13.0] Curry: Massive thank you to… [14.4] Curry: Carlos Campos! [16.0] Curry: Art Faulkner. [17.84] Stephen: Sam Dahmer. [19.68] Stephen: On with the show. [20.68] Curry: Hello and welcome back to another episode of Let's Drone Out. [57.78] Curry: It is episode 420, we've all done some edibles so this should be somewhat of an interesting [65.46] Curry: show once it's here. [67.82] Koel: Oh dear. [68.82] Koel: Yeah. [69.82] Curry: I'm only joking. [71.7] Curry: Tonight we are joined by the man with the mustache, Stephen. [76.7] Curry: Hello. [77.7] Curry: Evening. [78.7] Curry: My buddy, Carl. [80.7] Curry: Howdy. [81.7] Curry: I'm your host, Brian Tullifly. [84.86] Curry: Hello. [85.86] Curry: How is it going? [87.5] Curry: Feel safe. [89.78] Curry: If you want to come on, just shoot me on Discord. [93.1] Curry: My Discord is open. [94.1] Curry: Sorry we're a little late. [96.14] Curry: We were mistakenly waiting for Curry Kitten but he had already told me that he's busy [103.18] Curry: tonight and I had completely forgotten. [106.06] Curry: If this is Curry listening to this later on, sorry I'm a moron. [112.18] Curry: And I hope that you do fix your Mega CD because I am very invested in the outcome of that. [122.82] Curry: Speaking of which, have any of you heard the Unity news? [127.78] Curry: So this kind of affects the simulators. [130.06] Curry: Unity, from my understanding, and this is limited to take this with a pinch of salt, [136.06] Curry: in my opinion, legal notice, Unity released a statement saying that instead of you using [148.5] Curry: their engine and then once you've made something and then you're selling it, then they recoup [155.58] Curry: a sort of return on investment like interest and that and take payment for that. [163.3] Curry: They are now switching over to a per install basis and charging you the developer. [172.34] Curry: And that's what I think it is. [174.62] Curry: So if you don't like Curry Kitten, then install Curry Kitten Simulator on your computer, your [181.5] Curry: laptop, your Steam Deck, because that will cost Curry Kitten money. [188.9] Curry: If you're a fan of Curry Kitten, don't install it, wait till he rebuilds his game on Unreal [200.34] Curry: Engine or play Uncrashed if you don't want to cost anyone money. [205.22] Curry: So FPV, is FPV Uncrashed? [208.98] Curry: That game? [209.98] Curry: I don't know. [210.98] Curry: I haven't got my Steam open. [212.66] Curry: So who's cost money? [214.98] Curry: I'm quite confused by this. [217.38] Curry: Unity, you've turned around and said we're now going to charge per install. [223.82] Stephen: Oh, right. [224.82] Stephen: As you know. [225.82] Stephen: But that's only if you upgrade Unity, isn't it? [228.38] Stephen: Because they can't retroactively change the license, can they? [232.34] Stephen: So it'll only be if you upgrade to the latest version of Unity. [236.02] Stephen: Let me do a Windows swap here. [237.02] Stephen: So I'm looking at Cam. [238.02] Stephen: I'm not off to one side. [239.5] Stephen: There we are. [241.42] Stephen: Yeah, that's it's fairly typical. [243.86] Stephen: Unfortunately, in the world of software, Oracle have done similar things with Java [247.38] Stephen: in the past, which basically means no one wants to upgrade. [251.9] Curry: 20% per download, including pirates. [257.78] Koel: Well, yeah, including pirates. [259.5] Stephen: Well, I think that's a joke. [261.22] Stephen: Typically, these licensing agreements are overlooked until people start to get serious [266.98] Stephen: sales anyway, and then they step in and go, all right, mate. [271.02] Stephen: So because Curry's not, you know, not even making a living, he's really just getting [277.14] Stephen: money to cover his outlay because he had to pay a registration fee for the Steam store. [282.82] Curry: So yeah, I just wonder, yeah, I just wonder what the outcome of that would be. [289.34] Curry: You know, is he now because he has to make money for the Steam store with the 20%? [297.34] Curry: Is he now negative? [298.94] Curry: Well, 20% of nothing is still nothing. [302.1] Stephen: And if it's not retroactive, you're assuming that it's... [307.1] Stephen: You can't change the license terms and add payment structure without typically updating [314.14] Stephen: the software unless it's a software as a service offering, which is continually delivered. [318.82] Stephen: Curry would have to update to some new version of Unity and knowingly walk into this problem. [324.18] Stephen: So we just hope that, you know, he's spotted it and he doesn't walk into it. [327.9] Stephen: And that should be good. [331.18] Stephen: It's not like Unity had all the bells and whistles anyway. [334.3] Stephen: Unity's the same engine that Liftoff uses. [337.66] Stephen: And I think that's well known as being, you know, it's almost as ugly as what's that one [343.66] Stephen: that always annoys me, all the racers like, the really old one that's really, really ugly. [350.62] Stephen: Liftoff? [351.62] Stephen: No, the older than Liftoff, what's it called? [354.98] Curry: Oh, FPV Freerider. [356.58] Stephen: No, no, no, the, not that one, it's got its own installer and everything. [362.26] Curry: Velocidrone? [363.26] Stephen: Velocidrone, yeah. [364.7] Stephen: Almost as ugly as Velocidrone. [366.3] Stephen: Yeah. [367.3] Stephen: Velocidrone. [368.3] Curry: Look at Cole pulling that out of the bag. [372.3] Koel: No, I just did a quick Google search of different drone simulators. [376.98] Koel: I have got the keys. [379.1] Koel: Google? [380.1] Koel: Yeah. [381.1] Stephen: I admit the fly is quite nice, but I fly it for like five minutes and then I think, oh, [385.5] Stephen: I'll do like a freestyle map and I just go, oh no, let's just bounce off it. [391.46] Stephen: Trip is quite promising. [393.06] Stephen: They're overhauling their flight mechanics currently and they seem to be just in a huddle [399.42] Stephen: right now. [400.42] Stephen: There might be some interesting news coming from the trip. [403.34] Stephen: That's TRYP Camp. [406.9] Stephen: So yeah, check that out. [408.74] Stephen: A few of us have looked at a closed beta and it flies quite nicely and it's got a big range [414.3] Stephen: of maps. [416.38] Stephen: That's another Unreal Engine one, I believe. [418.78] Stephen: The ice tunnels are super fun to fly down from Caroline, yeah. [423.34] Stephen: Liftoff's new winter level. [424.34] Stephen: Oh, I haven't tried the winter level. [426.14] Stephen: Yeah. [427.14] Stephen: That'd be cool. [428.14] Stephen: There's a winter level in TRYP as well, which I've been quite enjoying. [431.3] Stephen: I'll have to give Liftoff a go. [433.34] Stephen: I did like the Liftoff microdrone, that was good. [439.23] Curry: There was Find the Snowmans at Christmas, so I did enjoy that in Liftoff. [444.87] Curry: I was playing that for a little bit. [447.99] Koel: Yeah, see, I was doing simulator on a 2010 iMac that can't do anything past 480p resolution, [454.71] Koel: so I haven't done any updates, needless to say. [458.39] Stephen: Here we are. [459.39] Stephen: So Hypo FPV with some of the numbers here. [462.63] Stephen: So applies if you make more than a million of whatever currency, probably the United [468.39] Stephen: States dollars, I guess, and have over 200,000. [471.39] Curry: No, you need an easy upgrade company, isn't it? [474.03] Curry: Oh, sorry for talking over here. [476.23] Curry: Isn't Unity based in the UK? [478.51] Curry: I don't know. [479.51] Curry: I thought they were. [480.51] Stephen: I haven't a clue. [481.51] Stephen: I haven't a clue. [484.89] Stephen: Well, anyway, whatever the currency might be, I don't think Curry is quite out on his yacht [490.45] Stephen: thanks to the proceeds of his SIM yet. [492.45] Curry: Oh, for, yeah, I had a quick look on the, on the, it was like £1.60 or something. [506.09] Curry: Sorry, Cole. [507.09] Koel: Yeah. [508.09] Koel: Just saying Unity, if it's Unity technologies, I don't know if it's the same thing. [512.29] Koel: I think it is San Francisco, which out of California, yeah. [517.73] Curry: My mistake. [518.73] Curry: It shows what I know. [520.25] Stephen: Right. [521.25] Stephen: So yeah, he's got a bit of leeway. [522.73] Stephen: He can probably, in UK currency, managed to trouser about 800,000, but, you know, good [529.57] Stephen: luck on him if he does that. [531.57] Stephen: Better play if he could do that. [533.33] Stephen: That'd be great. [534.33] Stephen: I don't think any of the SIM people are making huge stacks of cash. [538.65] Curry: I don't know. [539.65] Curry: Maybe we could just encourage everyone to like buy it again and like ramp him over the [544.65] Curry: threshold. [545.65] Stephen: See, you've got a Steam library, which is nothing but like 500 copies of Curry's SIM. [552.65] Curry: Yeah, that'd be amazing. [555.33] Curry: Several. [556.33] Curry: I've seen you the link, fail safe. [559.57] Curry: Thanks, sorry, Cole, looking, correcting and looking stuff up. [563.97] Curry: It's a fun little thing to fly for sure. [566.53] Curry: There is a lot of places, but yeah, Brighton, they are based in Brighton as well. [572.17] Curry: And they've got one in Bristol, which is kind of cool. [579.18] Stephen: They're doing pretty well, but there's something of a stigma attached to Unity Gaming because [585.9] Stephen: they're very much the, I think by quite a wide margin, they're the easiest place to [591.5] Stephen: start. [593.5] Stephen: You end up with not just single developers who are short on time like Curry, but you [599.54] Stephen: know, game studios who are maybe larger production houses, but less accomplished. [604.98] Stephen: And their programmers are perhaps not so hot. [607.06] Stephen: They tend to be the people that use Unity. [608.86] Stephen: So it's got a little bit of a reputation around it, I guess. [616.54] Stephen: And historically, it had quite a few weird bugs with input and things, largely fixed [621.46] Stephen: by SDL now, which, you know, Curry's done a ton of work to get all these different [626.02] Stephen: radios working. [627.02] Stephen: And he had to go and find special frameworks to kind of sidestep some of the Unity input [632.5] Stephen: problems to get different controllers working. [635.46] Koel: Oh, shoot, guys, I actually have to hit the road. [641.39] Koel: I guess I'm off to work now because I have to be there early now, according to my phone. [648.59] Koel: So see you guys. [650.95] Curry: No worries. [651.95] Curry: Take care, buddy. [652.95] Koel: See you. [653.95] Curry: Hello, failsafe. [654.95] Failsafe: Hello, guys. [655.95] Curry: How you doing? [656.95] Failsafe: All right. [657.95] Failsafe: Good. [658.95] Curry: One out, one in. [659.95] Curry: I know. [660.95] Curry: Yeah. [661.95] UNKNOWN: It's always the way. [662.95] Stephen: What fancy piece of glass are you coming to us via right now, Rowan? [669.95] Failsafe: Glass? [670.95] Failsafe: What do you mean, as in the camera? [671.95] Stephen: Your lens. [672.95] Stephen: You've got, by far, the nicest image of possibly any guest on the show so far. [678.27] Failsafe: It's an A7, a Sony A7 IV and a 35mm f1.2 lens, I think it is. [687.15] Failsafe: So it's a lot of lighting. [688.91] Failsafe: You've got a decent background blur. [690.71] Failsafe: Yeah. [691.71] Failsafe: Yeah. [692.71] Failsafe: Yeah, it really does. [693.71] Failsafe: Nice. [694.71] Failsafe: Good job, man. [695.71] Failsafe: What have you been up to then? [696.71] Failsafe: Oh, just working, really. [698.71] Failsafe: I also did the drone fest thing. [701.55] Failsafe: Yeah, I didn't really do much this weekend, but hopefully soon we're going to be going [707.35] Failsafe: out for another trip to various fandos in the UK, because I've not really been on the [711.99] Failsafe: trip. [712.99] Failsafe: I've been on some friends for quite a while, because many have been like festivals to film [718.59] Failsafe: and I've had the drone fest and then last weekend I was sort of chilled out, but hopefully [724.43] Failsafe: next this weekend I'll be going somewhere to fly. [727.75] Stephen: It's been a while. [728.75] Stephen: Cool. [729.75] Stephen: Cool. [730.75] Stephen: Yeah, I go that we had a recap of drone fest last week. [732.75] Stephen: I didn't get around to listening to the show yet. [734.55] Stephen: I was disconnected in the country, so I've been on the internet for quite a while. [740.31] Curry: Yeah. [742.69] Curry: So have you guys seen Flytest have released their easy remote ID? [751.09] Curry: I don't know whether you guys have checked it out. [753.49] Curry: I know it doesn't really apply to us UK people yet. [757.21] Curry: Yeah, it looks. [759.21] Curry: Yeah, what did you think? [763.37] Stephen: It's a very awkwardly sized board with a lot of empty space. [766.73] Stephen: So my first thought was, I bet they could improve the layout on that and actually make [770.33] Stephen: it so it doesn't stick out so much. [772.29] Curry: Yeah, there is a lot of unused space around the outside of it compared to the GPS part. [779.25] Stephen: And the one with the plug has it kind of tantalisingly close to the edge as if like whispering, snap [784.41] Stephen: me, snap me off. [787.13] Curry: Yeah, is that a molex? [789.13] Curry: I don't know. [790.13] Stephen: It's like a PhD.0 kind of quite chunky molex and they say it could run with power only, [796.45] Stephen: which is nice. [797.45] Stephen: You don't need to connect data, I believe it. [800.25] Stephen: It can function as a GPS as well, although it's not clear if it's going to be some sort [805.85] Stephen: of MSP GPS or if it'll just pretend to be like a u-blocks device. [810.61] Stephen: I haven't read that much about it. [812.33] Curry: Are you tempted to order one and then have a little play around? [817.69] Curry: No. [818.77] Stephen: Because if it's designed for America, then probably powering on over here, it might actually [823.77] Stephen: be just a big beacon to the police, like, please come over here and talk to me and tell [831.13] Stephen: me I'm in the wrong country and I've just identified myself as a certified idiot for [835.53] Stephen: firing up something beaconing my identity all over the place on the wrong frequencies. [841.01] Stephen: So I might leave it be. [843.49] Curry: Does anyone know, like, what frequency it runs on? [849.45] Stephen: I bet Frank would know all this stuff, all the A. [852.61] Stephen: I don't know. [853.61] Stephen: Is it ADS-B, the transponder frequencies? [857.09] Stephen: I don't know if they're different countries or not. [861.81] Stephen: Was it Frank was saying that even in this country it's like a mess of different beaconing [865.33] Stephen: systems in different regions and things? [869.89] Failsafe: For remote ID, who are they? [871.97] Stephen: On aircraft. [872.97] Failsafe: Yeah, I think Caroline's been attracted to Bluetooth, that's what I thought. [877.73] Failsafe: I thought it was Bluetooth. [878.73] Curry: Yeah. [879.73] Failsafe: Oh, right. [880.73] Failsafe: Okay, well, Bluetooth should be fine. [881.73] Failsafe: Yeah, go and see your phone. [882.73] Curry: Okay. [883.73] Stephen: If it's Bluetooth, what is it, 2.4 then? [887.33] Stephen: It's supposed to get like 100 metres. [888.97] Stephen: I just assumed it was more than Bluetooth if it was doing 100 metres, but... [892.73] Failsafe: Oh, it's so... [894.33] Failsafe: Yeah, Bluetooth, yeah, 100 metres isn't real. [897.01] Failsafe: It's an awful lot, is it? [898.45] Stephen: It didn't have an external antenna that I saw, so... [903.81] Curry: I'm desperately trying to have a look and be like, oh, is there one like, you know, sort [912.45] Curry: of like PCB antennas? [914.25] Stephen: I thought it was like an easy way of adding GPS to vehicles where you struggle to fit [920.37] Stephen: in GPS previously. [921.37] Stephen: I just don't see the point of this business. [924.37] Failsafe: I don't know how phones work because it's quite, you know, we put these big blocks on [930.53] Failsafe: the back of our drones to get signal and everything, and even then, you know, it's [934.65] Failsafe: not always great. [935.65] Failsafe: Like, it's quite, I don't know, it's quite incredible to me how, you know, you've got [939.89] Failsafe: a phone and it's got Bluetooth, you know, all this built in, even GPS built in, it's [943.97] Failsafe: like, you know, it's just tiny. [946.37] Failsafe: Like, I don't even... [947.37] Failsafe: You open up phones, you don't even see the antenna in there, so... [950.37] Stephen: I think a lot of them, you remember the Antennagate thing that iPhone had where they were actually [954.89] Stephen: running the antenna as a band around the phone, and if you held it in the wrong place. [960.49] Stephen: I like a human being, then it completely blocked the antenna, so I think there's some kind [967.37] Stephen: of integral antenna where they put antenna material around the chassis, or at least the [972.73] Stephen: old iPhone did. [973.73] Failsafe: Yeah, because you've got the antenna, like, the top antenna lines, so I guess that separate [978.09] Failsafe: the metal out. [979.09] Failsafe: Yeah. [982.46] Failsafe: Is that one of the remote ID modules, then? [984.54] Curry: Yeah, this is the one... [986.58] Curry: Is that an antenna in the bottom corner? [988.9] Curry: The thing with, like, 4-4 written on it? [991.26] Failsafe: It's like a ceramic antenna, yeah, to me. [995.82] Curry: Interesting. [996.82] Curry: Yeah, it does. [997.82] Curry: It's got a little battery backup as well, so I guess it can get locked quicker. [1005.94] Curry: There isn't, you know, U-blocks as well. [1009.14] Curry: Yeah, it's a pretty CB, though, exactly. [1011.14] Failsafe: Why does it need to be so big? [1013.14] Failsafe: I don't know. [1015.14] Curry: It's weird. [1016.14] Curry: People not running it out. [1018.66] Curry: I wonder if that's quad-flat, no leads. [1022.06] Stephen: They've managed a silkscreen, this beautiful flight test logo onto it, but they couldn't, [1025.66] Stephen: like, label the pads. [1026.98] Curry: Oh, no. [1027.98] Stephen: That would be more helpful. [1029.98] Curry: They don't want to give you information. [1034.74] Stephen: And that... [1035.74] Stephen: You see that connector, where it's, like, off the edge, like, hanging off the edge of it. [1039.34] Stephen: Yeah, and it's already really big, and then they stick the connector on a corner. [1043.18] Stephen: On a corner. [1044.18] Stephen: And it's hanging off the side of the board. [1047.54] Stephen: Why... [1048.54] Stephen: That's the worst place to mount it. [1049.94] Stephen: This was designed by someone who flew wings and was like, oh, they need holes at these [1054.82] Stephen: distances apart. [1055.82] Stephen: That'll do. [1056.82] Stephen: And they just kind of yellow-load the board design out. [1059.78] Failsafe: Just chucked the components of the board. [1063.22] UNKNOWN: Yeah. [1064.22] Stephen: I'm sure if you've got a wing, it's much easier, because you've essentially got a big box where [1069.14] Stephen: you can just, like, hot glue things inside it, and off it goes happily. [1074.22] Stephen: But if you're trying to build stuff into a structure, it's going to be harder. [1082.08] Stephen: Sorry for dissing all the fixed-ring people, implying that they were just hot gluing things [1085.64] Stephen: into boxes and throwing them into the air. [1087.8] Stephen: I know some of you also use tape. [1090.88] Curry: Yeah. [1091.88] Curry: It is a privilege, less of it. [1094.52] Curry: Look, you're terrified of PWM. [1097.0] Curry: You cannot talk. [1098.0] Curry: I am. [1099.0] Curry: It's a mess. [1100.0] Curry: It's a tidal mess. [1104.04] Curry: Brandon says, our representative aviation administrators will reverse every single purchase, [1111.36] Curry: right? [1112.36] Curry: Dominic Clifton said, that is the official PCB design madness. [1121.72] Curry: Yes. [1122.72] Curry: It's... [1123.72] Curry: And Stuckey says, yes, that's a wing-fitting metrocity. [1130.12] Curry: I don't think Dom wants to bother. [1132.64] Failsafe: Almost costs as much as the Callux Vista. [1135.48] Failsafe: Mm-hmm. [1136.48] Failsafe: Looking out. [1137.48] Stephen: Yeah. [1138.48] Stephen: Speaking of which, do you see the HD0 VTX? [1141.48] Failsafe: Oh, yes. [1142.48] Failsafe: I saw that. [1143.48] Failsafe: Yeah, yeah. [1144.48] Failsafe: They stacked. [1145.48] Failsafe: They were kind of... [1146.48] Failsafe: Show off. [1147.48] Failsafe: Yeah. [1148.48] Failsafe: Let's get a picture on the screen. [1149.48] Failsafe: Do you want me to get one, I guess? [1150.48] Failsafe: Yeah. [1151.48] Failsafe: I think Dom's obviously had it in stock, didn't I? [1152.48] Failsafe: That's what I was seeing it before. [1153.48] Stephen: Here we are. [1154.48] Stephen: I've got a picky. [1155.48] Stephen: I haven't kept up, but are they winning? [1166.32] Stephen: I don't know if they're winning, but they are nice and red, which has got to account [1170.76] Stephen: for something, hasn't it? [1173.76] Curry: If it was orange, you'd be all about that. [1178.76] Stephen: Oh, yeah. [1179.76] Stephen: I mean, well, you don't need to go and state the obvious, do we, Jack? [1182.76] Stephen: If it was yellow or orange, I'd have bought five already. [1185.76] Stephen: But as it is, it's just red. [1187.76] Stephen: And that's not going to go with any of my 3D printing filament. [1190.76] Stephen: So I'm afraid I can't oblige. [1192.76] Stephen: They've got a large number of connectors on here. [1195.76] Stephen: It does make me wonder what's going on. [1198.76] Failsafe: Three connectors. [1199.76] Failsafe: Three. [1200.76] Stephen: So there's a keypad, one little keypad. [1202.76] Stephen: Maybe this is a HD0 specific thing, but there's, yeah. [1207.76] Stephen: And another one down there. [1208.76] Stephen: I guess this is a camera connector, but that looks, maybe it isn't actually. [1212.76] Stephen: Maybe that's serial. [1213.76] Failsafe: No, I think that's maybe an update port, maybe? [1217.76] Stephen: I expect the camera connector to be opposite sides from the clamp down with the UFL. [1221.76] Stephen: But maybe I'm a noob there. [1224.76] Failsafe: Or maybe it's just underneath. [1227.76] Failsafe: You see that? [1228.76] Failsafe: Like just underneath that white connector to the left and just underneath that. [1231.76] Failsafe: Maybe it's just under there. [1232.76] Failsafe: It is a. [1233.76] Failsafe: Like a clamp there, maybe. [1234.76] Stephen: A solid looking lump of aluminum. [1236.76] Stephen: I think I was seeing the weight is 22 point something grams for this alone. [1241.76] Stephen: So that is the same as the Vista pretty much, isn't it? [1244.76] Stephen: The Vista was that sort of 23 gram area, I think. [1250.76] Stephen: And it's good for, was it one watt or two watts or something ludicrous? [1255.76] Failsafe: Well, it says one watt, but then if you look at the actual specs of it, [1258.76] Failsafe: it says one watt at raceband one or something like that, [1262.76] Failsafe: I'm pretty sure it didn't. [1263.76] Failsafe: We have it. [1264.76] Failsafe: I don't know if this is confirmed or whatever, [1265.76] Failsafe: but when I watched a couple of videos on the previous few sub ETX, [1270.76] Failsafe: the power would drop off. [1271.76] Failsafe: So if you're on raceband one, you get the full one output. [1275.76] Failsafe: But if you go to like raceband two, three, four, five, six, [1277.76] Failsafe: and the power just drops off. [1279.76] Failsafe: And if that's, that's an issue with people measuring it, [1281.76] Failsafe: if that's actually how it works. [1283.76] Failsafe: But it does say in the description at one watt at raceband one. [1288.76] Failsafe: So I don't know if other power outputs have different, sorry, [1292.76] Failsafe: different channels have different power outputs on that. [1295.76] Stephen: I think you're absolutely right that it's just a factor that the tuning [1299.76] Stephen: that you end up with, with less power as you change channels. [1303.76] Stephen: Yeah. [1304.76] Curry: I mean, that's standard with analog VTXs anyway, isn't it? [1309.76] Curry: Still a lot of power. [1310.76] Stephen: It's not like you need that. [1312.76] Stephen: I don't think you get totally rid of the sparkles, do you? [1315.76] Stephen: That's something that's annoyed me a bit with the HD zero stuff. [1321.76] Stephen: Yeah. [1322.76] Failsafe: I mean, I did. [1323.76] Failsafe: I've been like, I use DJI. [1325.76] Failsafe: Well, I use analog first of all. [1326.76] Failsafe: Then I went to DJI. [1327.76] Failsafe: Then I've walked into walks now and I tried HD zero at engraver. [1331.76] Failsafe: Actually, I tried one of the guys in the chat. [1334.76] Failsafe: High-preview is HD zero. [1336.76] Failsafe: Yeah. [1337.76] Failsafe: So it was quite, I did like the connected feel, I must admit. [1340.76] Failsafe: It was very connected. [1343.76] Failsafe: The issue was me was going in those sketchy bits where, you know, [1349.76] Failsafe: with some other system would be sort of lagging a tiny bit. [1352.76] Failsafe: But with HD zero, it's just pretty much you can't see. [1356.76] Failsafe: It's quite, you know, drops off a cliff quite a bit when you're on the [1359.76] Failsafe: edge of your brain, which every system does. [1361.76] Failsafe: But I just found that to be quite, you know, I'm not too sure about that. [1366.76] Failsafe: But apart from that, if you're flying close to yourself, [1368.76] Failsafe: and it is a very nice connected feel, given that. [1371.76] Failsafe: That's for sure. [1372.76] Failsafe: Yeah. [1373.76] Failsafe: It was all. [1374.76] Failsafe: It crashed. [1375.76] Failsafe: I bought my HD zero driving sets. [1377.76] Failsafe: I did, I think. [1378.76] Failsafe: I don't know. [1379.76] Failsafe: I think I got a bit carried away. [1381.76] Stephen: I think the cost for me was just unexpectedly high because this was [1386.76] Stephen: coming in, I think, sort of 90 to 100 currency units, [1390.76] Stephen: which is up there with the DJI stuff, not with O3, but it's a lot for [1397.76] Stephen: something that I thought of as basically a bit of a bump for analog kit, [1401.76] Stephen: but not like a. [1402.76] Stephen: Not like a full premium digital system. [1406.76] Failsafe: Yeah. [1407.76] Failsafe: The V-TEX, that V2 one is £94 in the UK. [1414.76] Failsafe: Yeah. [1415.76] Curry: So it does look like the UFL connector is the opposite side to the camera. [1421.76] Stephen: Yeah. [1422.76] Stephen: And they for, oh, for, yeah, for 94 quid, we're still stuck with UFL. [1428.76] Stephen: No, I'm CX. [1429.76] Stephen: Unfortunately, I bet people would really see more room heavier. [1437.76] Stephen: They've got aluminium blocks on it. [1440.76] Stephen: Jack. [1441.76] Stephen: It's not really cutting the mustard to complain about weight once you've [1445.76] Stephen: clamped a whole load of aluminium onto it. [1448.76] Curry: Stuff has to be cool. [1451.76] Failsafe: What are you guys? [1452.76] Failsafe: What's your guys' opinion on all these flight controllers and V-TEX [1455.76] Failsafe: is just putting heat sinks on them? [1457.76] Failsafe: Like you see this, not V-TEX, I don't know what I'm about. [1460.76] Failsafe: ESEs, they all have just like put a heat sink on the ESE, but like the [1464.76] Failsafe: speedy ones for like literally what I don't see a reason like just to [1468.76] Failsafe: make it look good. [1469.76] Failsafe: Branding, isn't it? [1470.76] Stephen: It's like putting a spoiler on it. [1472.76] Failsafe: Just adding extra weight for like what gain, you know? [1476.76] Curry: I mean, does it help with cooling? [1480.76] Curry: Does it help with moron splash with like, you know, dodgy soldering? [1486.76] Stephen: Well, it might catch those little bursts where like something really bloody [1491.76] Stephen: nasty happens for like a quarter of a second. [1494.76] Stephen: And instead of that thing hitting potentially 150, 200 degrees C, [1500.76] Stephen: it might only hit like 120 instead and it might survive. [1505.76] Stephen: Instead of like de-soldering itself in a blaze of glory, [1508.76] Stephen: which can happen to ESEs. [1510.76] Curry: And also, if it does blow, it's a bit of a sort of tinfoil [1515.76] Curry: shield in the way of your ESEs burning your flight controller. [1520.76] Failsafe: I guess. [1521.76] Curry: I don't have a problem with it. [1523.76] Curry: I don't. I'm not that annoyed by it. [1526.76] Stephen: I mean, I think everyone I'd love for ESEs to be invulnerable, [1530.76] Stephen: but there's this constant trade off of cost and space and complexity [1536.76] Stephen: that everyone's fighting with. [1538.76] Stephen: And the ESE designs have been pretty much the same for, well, [1543.76] Stephen: since BL Heli 32 appeared, right? [1545.76] Stephen: The actual hardware designs haven't changed at all. [1548.76] Stephen: There is a new chip which is supposed to be dropping the F4A, [1555.76] Stephen: which combines the MCU with the drivers, [1559.76] Stephen: so that you just need the single controller chip and then the FETs. [1563.76] Failsafe: Oh, yes, because you used to use it like... [1565.76] Failsafe: Oh, I see. [1567.76] Failsafe: So you get more... [1569.76] Failsafe: Bigger FETs. [1571.76] Failsafe: Yeah, that's cool. [1572.76] Stephen: Because you used to have like your MCU in the middle of the ESE [1575.76] Stephen: and then you'd have like three little chips next to that [1578.76] Stephen: and then you'd have your banks of big chunky FETs. [1582.76] Stephen: So there's three little controller drivers for each channel. [1586.76] Stephen: You don't need them anymore, I think. [1588.76] Stephen: I don't know if it was one or three, [1590.76] Stephen: but anyway, there was some extra chips that are basically evaporating [1594.76] Stephen: and they're going to add some extra components, [1600.76] Stephen: diodes and things onto them as well, [1602.76] Stephen: so that those aren't needed as surface mount as well. [1605.76] Stephen: So things are slowly moving, [1607.76] Stephen: but I keep expecting them to drop any month, [1611.76] Stephen: but for whatever reason, they're not appearing yet. [1614.76] Stephen: So there's going to be some new ESEs this year, I think. [1618.76] Stephen: Yeah, the Airbot F4A, as Dom says. [1621.76] Stephen: Yeah, that's the one. [1623.76] Stephen: And they're talking about a successor to that already, [1626.76] Stephen: which integrates more bits onto it as well, a V2 of them. [1629.76] Curry: Walksnow Avatar HD Mini V3 is out [1637.68] Curry: and the Matek F405 V2... [1641.68] Stephen: I was annoyed that I bought a VTX just before they upgraded it. [1648.68] Stephen: Quite miffed about that. [1650.68] Stephen: Is there much difference? [1652.68] Stephen: Well, they widen the voltage range, [1654.68] Stephen: so it goes from like 3.1 volts to, I think, 13 volts. [1660.68] Stephen: So you can run it on like a 10 volt back or a 5 volt back or a 1S system, [1665.68] Stephen: or a 2S, 3S system as well. [1668.68] Stephen: That's quite handy. [1671.68] Curry: Yeah, 1.3.1 to 13 volts. [1676.68] Failsafe: Here's the one. [1677.68] Failsafe: So you've got... [1678.68] Failsafe: This is the new one. [1680.68] Failsafe: It's the V3. [1681.68] Failsafe: So you've got... [1682.68] Failsafe: Can you see that? [1683.68] Failsafe: Is it a plug or a glued? [1684.68] Stephen: I can't quite see if it's potted or not. [1686.68] Failsafe: Sorry, it's got like... [1687.68] Failsafe: It's soldered on. [1688.68] Failsafe: It's got like glue on the top. [1690.68] Failsafe: And then you've got a little connector this side [1694.68] Failsafe: when it focuses. [1695.68] Failsafe: And that's your USB JST. [1699.68] Failsafe: You've got your antenna connector there. [1702.68] Failsafe: You've got a nice little lock down on the antenna connector. [1705.68] Stephen: Brain relief on the antenna connector? [1707.68] Failsafe: Yeah, there is. [1708.68] Failsafe: It's like a little metal. [1710.68] Failsafe: It has got a metal clasp on the top. [1713.68] Failsafe: And it's that 32 gig or an 8 gig? [1716.68] Failsafe: It's 32. [1717.68] Failsafe: Yeah, you've got 32. [1719.68] Failsafe: And it takes a maximum of 15 volts input, I think it is. [1724.68] Failsafe: So this is... [1725.68] Stephen: Other than going up to 500 milliwatt instead of up to 700, [1730.68] Stephen: maybe a watt, but maybe not if reports would be believed, [1734.68] Stephen: this is kind of identical to the other one, but lighter? [1739.68] Failsafe: Yeah, it's more of a hardware revision, really. [1743.68] Failsafe: They call it V3, but it's not like a step above. [1748.68] Failsafe: It's just a slight hardware revision, in my opinion, [1752.68] Failsafe: to allow that higher voltage input. [1754.68] Failsafe: I think they're actually now selling this separately. [1757.68] Failsafe: So you're going to be able to get the VTX separately [1759.68] Failsafe: without the heatsink on, and they're actually upgrading [1761.68] Failsafe: the 1S board to 32 gigabytes as well. [1765.68] Failsafe: So you're going to be able to get 32 gigabytes [1767.68] Failsafe: on this tiny thing and have that added voltage input as well. [1770.68] Failsafe: So for people that were... [1772.68] Stephen: I was going to admit that I bought the 1S [1774.68] Stephen: just before they did that and then saw the announcement. [1778.68] Failsafe: It's really annoying how they're doing it. [1782.68] Failsafe: They're doing these small little changes, which is cool, [1785.68] Failsafe: but for people that actually buy this previously [1787.68] Failsafe: and they've just bought one or whatever, [1789.68] Failsafe: then this slight revision comes [1791.68] Failsafe: and it's not really named anything different. [1793.68] Failsafe: It's just going to get a bit confusing for people. [1795.68] Failsafe: So I do think there needs to be a better naming system [1799.68] Failsafe: so that people can easily identify, [1801.68] Failsafe: oh, look, I've got the... [1802.68] Failsafe: Because when you see this or whatever, [1804.68] Failsafe: it's not labeled or anything. [1806.68] Failsafe: You don't know how much storage is on it or... [1808.68] Failsafe: Yeah, it's not great, but... [1810.68] Failsafe: Well, actually, that one is kind of... [1812.68] Stephen: That one has revisions. [1813.68] Stephen: There's the V1, which was the dual antenna silver one, [1817.68] Stephen: and then the V2 was black with the 20-mill mount. [1820.68] Stephen: And now V3 looks kind of the same, [1823.68] Stephen: but it's slightly lower. [1825.68] Failsafe: This is only 500 milliwatts [1827.68] Failsafe: and it's only 500 milliwatts [1830.68] Failsafe: and it can only take a 15-volt input, [1832.68] Failsafe: whereas the V2 one... [1833.68] Failsafe: What I was saying is that that's a good situation. [1835.68] Stephen: That's a good situation compared to the 1S stuff, [1838.68] Stephen: which does all look pretty much identical. [1840.68] Stephen: Visually, it's the original 1S one [1843.68] Stephen: before they took the heat spreader off [1845.68] Stephen: and then the one afterwards without a heat spreader. [1847.68] Stephen: And now there's going to be a V3 version of that [1850.68] Stephen: that's going to look identical to the one before it. [1852.68] Stephen: So it's going to be tricky. [1855.68] Failsafe: Yeah. [1857.68] Failsafe: I've not tried this one yet, [1859.68] Failsafe: where you should put it in a building and give it a go. [1861.68] Failsafe: Did you try all the color fonts, all that business? [1864.68] Failsafe: I've not, no. [1866.68] Failsafe: But they have just released a firmware update, I think, [1869.68] Failsafe: which is fixing a lot of issues, like with iNav. [1872.68] Failsafe: They've now fixed the issue, [1874.68] Failsafe: which below the people have been asking about, [1876.68] Failsafe: which was with custom fonts. [1878.68] Failsafe: And for some reason, some of the pages wouldn't work [1881.68] Failsafe: with iNav or some sort of thing. [1884.68] Failsafe: It's not something I really use, [1886.68] Failsafe: but a lot of people are bothered by that, [1887.68] Failsafe: which is completely understandable. [1889.68] Failsafe: So they finally fixed that. [1891.68] Failsafe: That's something we've been receiving a lot of feedback about. [1895.68] Failsafe: I still think they still got along a bit of a way to go [1899.68] Failsafe: in terms of the image, I don't know, [1904.68] Failsafe: just the whole stability of it, [1906.68] Failsafe: the over there link itself and the quality of it. [1911.68] Failsafe: I still think it's not that polished [1915.68] Failsafe: as it used to be before a recent update, [1917.68] Failsafe: but I'm sure they're working on that. [1919.68] Failsafe: And at least they now actually seem to be communicating [1922.68] Failsafe: with the actual community, with Shannon, [1925.68] Failsafe: who's one of the guys that makes all the custom fonts. [1929.68] Failsafe: So they're actually in direct contact with him, [1931.68] Failsafe: which is just going to help with getting all the fonts [1934.68] Failsafe: and everything compatible with the system, [1936.68] Failsafe: which is really good. [1939.68] Failsafe: And there's a lot of speculation as well in terms of the goggles. [1942.68] Failsafe: People think, I was still speaking about the Mad tech desk [1945.68] Failsafe: or something about them releasing new goggles, [1947.68] Failsafe: and apparently I had some at Drone Fest. [1949.68] Failsafe: I can tell you, I do not know anything about new goggles [1952.68] Failsafe: or anything like that. [1954.68] Failsafe: But then again, I'm not really that into the loop [1958.68] Failsafe: as to the development. [1959.68] Failsafe: They tell me, oh, look, something's coming out [1962.68] Failsafe: and let me know about it. [1964.68] Failsafe: But they're not going to say. [1968.68] Failsafe: No, I kind of would be good to know beforehand [1972.68] Failsafe: because then I can be ready, [1974.68] Failsafe: especially for updates in the Discord and everything. [1976.68] Failsafe: But no, I'm not aware of any goggles or anything like that. [1979.68] Stephen: Maybe they can turn the SD card slot round [1981.68] Stephen: and put it in a sensible location. [1983.68] Stephen: Ooh. [1985.68] Failsafe: Oh, yeah. [1986.68] Stephen: Where is it on that? [1988.68] Stephen: Between your eyes. [1990.68] Stephen: And it's upside down so that the thumbnail notch [1993.68] Stephen: that you're supposed to be able to pull the SD card out with [1996.68] Stephen: faces the plastic body and it's in a stupid place [2000.68] Stephen: and it's upside down. [2002.68] Failsafe: Someone with an NDA would say that. [2004.68] Failsafe: I don't know if I've got an NDA. [2006.68] Failsafe: I don't know. [2007.68] Failsafe: I don't think I do. [2008.68] Stephen: Maybe it's just a better air path. [2010.68] Stephen: Like MadsTech was looking at optimizing the air path [2013.68] Stephen: for his fans and things. [2014.68] Failsafe: It could be. [2015.68] Failsafe: This is Kaddix. [2016.68] Failsafe: They could be doing it. [2017.68] Failsafe: They could do anything. [2018.68] Failsafe: They could drop something tomorrow. [2019.68] Failsafe: And I wouldn't be surprised if they do. [2021.68] Failsafe: But I'm not heard of anything. [2023.68] Failsafe: But maybe they're just potentially having supply issues [2025.68] Failsafe: and they just need to restock it [2027.68] Failsafe: or some sort of issue with supply chain or something like that. [2030.68] Failsafe: It could be something as simple as that. [2032.68] Failsafe: Or it could be something, you know, [2034.68] Failsafe: something they're working on. [2035.68] Failsafe: But not too sure. [2036.68] Failsafe: Yeah, they got a couple of things with the V2, [2040.68] Failsafe: the V1 calls that I want to see improved. [2042.68] Failsafe: Like the HDMI output, [2044.68] Failsafe: it has never worked consistently for me. [2047.68] Failsafe: I've even bought. [2048.68] Failsafe: Well, I've even asked them to send me. [2050.68] Failsafe: I've sent me a replacement USB-C board in it to think, [2053.68] Failsafe: oh, you know, maybe changing the connector out would help. [2055.68] Failsafe: But no, like after around 10 seconds, [2058.68] Failsafe: the thing would just cut out. [2061.68] Failsafe: The video would just stop. [2062.68] Failsafe: I've tried it on many monitors, [2064.68] Failsafe: capture cards and everything. [2065.68] Failsafe: And it's still the same. [2066.68] Failsafe: And I've heard a lot of people say that as well. [2068.68] Failsafe: All right. [2069.68] Stephen: I thought you were flying it at DroneFest last year [2072.68] Stephen: and you had a monitor. [2073.68] Stephen: I did. [2074.68] Failsafe: Yeah, it was working fine then. [2076.68] Failsafe: Yeah, it was working fine then. [2078.68] Failsafe: So I don't know if it's a recent update [2079.68] Failsafe: or something that's caused it. [2081.68] Stephen: It feels like there might be overloading the system [2083.68] Stephen: because I'm hearing people say, [2084.68] Stephen: oh, yeah, get rid of those deflickering, [2086.68] Stephen: disable recording. [2088.68] Failsafe: And I'm like, really? [2090.68] Failsafe: Load of people were saying like, yeah, [2091.68] Failsafe: loads of people think feature requests and everything. [2093.68] Failsafe: They're like, just post some, you know, [2096.68] Failsafe: don't get me wrong, they call ideas. [2098.68] Failsafe: But I don't think some people realize [2100.68] Failsafe: the sort of the technicality of just what is involved to, [2103.68] Failsafe: you know, some things are just limited [2104.68] Failsafe: by just technical point of view. [2106.68] Failsafe: You know, you can't just be like releasing a firmware update [2108.68] Failsafe: to give 4K over the hour or, you know, [2110.68] Failsafe: a 60 FPS or something. [2112.68] Failsafe: There is limitations with it. [2114.68] Failsafe: And yeah, I think we've all got to send out [2117.68] Failsafe: that need to do hardware revision to, you know, [2120.68] Failsafe: for some of the capabilities we're stressing. [2122.68] Stephen: Well, like a lot of other stuff, [2124.68] Stephen: they might just need to learn the hardware, [2126.68] Stephen: learn its quirks, [2127.68] Stephen: and learn the optimizations that are possible. [2130.68] Failsafe: Yeah, yeah, yeah. [2131.68] Failsafe: And there's some stuff going around as well [2133.68] Failsafe: about Artisan or something, [2135.68] Failsafe: like Alex don't actually make the firmware [2137.68] Failsafe: or something like that. [2138.68] Stephen: Yeah, but it's just effectively the SDK samples from Artisan. [2142.68] Failsafe: I mean, yeah, that could be something, [2144.68] Failsafe: it's not so nowhere. [2145.68] Failsafe: To be honest, like, whoever's not too bothered [2149.68] Failsafe: as long as this thing's getting sorted and... [2151.68] Stephen: As long as it works. [2152.68] Stephen: I have wondered if they maybe would be a bit more open [2156.68] Stephen: to assistance from the community. [2158.68] Stephen: It's a question of how open the people they're buying [2162.68] Stephen: the chips from allow them to be at the end of the day. [2165.68] Stephen: So I have to wait and see. [2168.68] Stephen: Maybe we'll see something like WTFOS over time, [2173.68] Stephen: but it's hard to tell right now. [2176.68] Curry: Yeah. [2178.68] Stephen: Originally, they had a known password [2181.68] Stephen: so that you get into the system [2183.68] Stephen: and log in when it was booting. [2185.68] Stephen: But they've changed that, [2187.68] Stephen: and that caused quite a bit of irritation with people [2189.68] Stephen: because it was almost like, well, [2191.68] Stephen: if an update failed, I could, like, fix my system [2194.68] Stephen: and now you've gone and stopped me [2196.68] Stephen: from being able to do that on the, you know, [2198.68] Stephen: just because security, but... [2202.68] Failsafe: But then again, at least it's not like, well... [2205.68] Failsafe: I was going to say, at least it's not like Orca [2207.68] Failsafe: where they... that's not their default, [2209.68] Failsafe: but I'm just saying, yeah, there was that thing with Orca [2212.68] Failsafe: with the time locking it out and stuff like that. [2214.68] Failsafe: That hasn't been that rewarding yet, but I don't know. [2218.68] Failsafe: That was pretty rude. [2220.68] Frank: This episode was recorded in front of a live online audience, [2223.68] Frank: downloaded and edited to make sense when it played audio only, [2226.68] Frank: censored to please the iTunes people, [2228.68] Frank: hosted on the internet, [2229.68] Frank: forwarded through to your podcast provider, [2231.68] Frank: downloaded, playing on your device, [2233.68] Frank: and is now playing in your ears. [2235.68] Frank: All thanks to our Patreons. [2237.68] Frank: Consider joining them and you'll also get other online benefits. [2240.68] Frank: Find out more at patreon.com forward slash let's drone out. [2245.68] Curry: Yeah, Caroline posted the link, um... [2250.68] Curry: and it's got a TBS spec wing. [2254.68] Curry: Apparently she was out flying it and, uh, line of sight. [2260.68] Curry: Saturday broke it a little, but all repaired. [2263.68] Curry: It's really tough. [2265.68] Curry: So that's good. [2267.68] Curry: E600 for the win. [2269.68] Curry: 6000, that's it. [2271.68] Curry: The rhinestone, uh, glue. [2275.68] Curry: So maybe there is some slight truth in Stephen's statement [2280.68] Curry: of just glue it and hope for the best. [2283.68] Curry: Send it. [2286.68] Stephen: Yeah, I got out and did a bit of flying while I was, uh, [2289.68] Stephen: hidden away in the countryside as well. [2291.68] Stephen: So I put a few packs through a couple of different quads, [2295.68] Stephen: some of the walk snail ones. [2296.68] Stephen: I had a little one S thing with a tiny light camera [2301.68] Stephen: and I had, uh, one of the new V2 VTXs [2304.68] Stephen: with the, uh, the Sony pro camera on there. [2307.68] Stephen: And I also had a little three and a half inch, [2310.68] Stephen: which is going to be upgraded to the O3 light, [2312.68] Stephen: but it's still got the full factor O3 on there. [2315.68] Stephen: So I was messing around with them [2317.68] Stephen: and kind of comparing and contrasting. [2319.68] Stephen: The O3 does give me a great image, [2321.68] Stephen: but I had a lot of trouble coming out from like, [2324.68] Stephen: from under trees into bright sunlight. [2326.68] Stephen: You know, we had this beautiful sunny weather last week [2329.68] Stephen: before the heavy rain appeared. [2331.68] Stephen: And I was enjoying flying around the trees [2333.68] Stephen: and it's exceptionally cinematic, [2335.68] Stephen: but it is straight up dazzling coming out into sunlight. [2339.68] Failsafe: Doesn't do, didn't cope too well. [2341.68] Failsafe: I think that's one of the weaknesses of O3, [2343.68] Failsafe: like just like reading any system, any camera really [2346.68] Failsafe: doesn't cover that well, no light. [2348.68] Failsafe: Um, the camera from my scene. [2351.68] Stephen: It's very pretty though. [2352.68] Stephen: Yeah. It gets you beautiful footage, [2354.68] Stephen: but at the same time, beautiful footage of like dappled light [2357.68] Stephen: through trees from a pilot's point of view. [2360.68] Stephen: It's more like, where am I going unless, [2363.68] Stephen: Oh, look at all the pretty lights. [2365.68] Stephen: So that they're kind of conflicting. [2367.68] Stephen: I think I've, I think I've said it before, [2369.68] Stephen: but I feel like the goals of being cinematic [2372.68] Stephen: and of having good navigable view, [2376.68] Stephen: a kind of mutually exclusive because a lot of the things [2379.68] Stephen: that provide you beautiful cinematography [2383.68] Stephen: actually make it harder to see where you're going [2386.68] Stephen: and to distinguish objects from each other. [2391.5] Failsafe: Yeah. Cause I was obviously, I flew O3, [2394.5] Failsafe: uh, in grace actually, you know, [2396.5] Failsafe: you know, we're behind our apartment. [2397.5] Failsafe: We had Stephen, Stephen was one of the guys who came. [2400.5] Failsafe: So I was flying, I flew one pack with walks now. [2403.5] Failsafe: I went around the whole entire apartment, um, [2406.5] Failsafe: struggling a bit around the back of it and the flow free. [2409.5] Failsafe: And it was the penetration and performance of it is really good. [2413.5] Failsafe: So definitely better. [2414.5] Failsafe: But, um, yeah, it's a surprise like how well it did when I was [2419.5] Failsafe: just going around the whole house. [2420.5] Failsafe: It didn't really feel much different. [2422.5] Failsafe: Um, it's quite, it's quite good in that respect. [2425.5] Failsafe: Yeah. [2426.5] Curry: So there's still like DJI still winning the, [2434.06] Curry: the sort of performance race of everything and everyone's sort of [2438.06] Curry: like chasing behind. [2441.06] Failsafe: Oh, I don't know. [2442.06] Failsafe: I don't know. [2443.06] Failsafe: I don't know what to say about that. [2445.06] Failsafe: I mean, there's benefits and downsides for every, [2448.06] Failsafe: every system to be honest. [2450.06] Failsafe: Um, yeah, I don't know what else to say. [2453.06] Failsafe: It's very beautiful. [2454.06] Failsafe: I'm kind of biased, but yeah. [2457.06] Stephen: The one thing I did notice with DJI is, um, and I, [2461.06] Stephen: annoyingly I hadn't noticed it until I think it was, [2465.06] Stephen: um, is it diversion or the guy who makes the really light, [2470.06] Stephen: like scimitar frames and he's always on about frost and, [2476.44] Stephen: uh, and his videos. [2477.44] Stephen: Um, anyway, he's, he's been looking at oh three and pairing it right [2481.44] Stephen: down and he noticed that there was a kind of a stutter. [2485.44] Stephen: Like if you do a, a yore, then sometimes you notice like an [2489.44] Stephen: unevenness in the frame rate. [2491.44] Stephen: And if you change it from auto onto manual, for some reason, [2494.44] Stephen: it stops that, which is a bit odd, [2497.44] Stephen: like some artifacts of the channel helping the DJI is doing [2500.44] Stephen: messes with the latency. [2502.44] Stephen: And if you lock into a single channel, that makes it better. [2505.44] Stephen: That's a bit odd. [2506.44] Failsafe: My friend, my friend now for PV, he's a lot of guy that came into [2509.44] Failsafe: Croatia as well. [2510.44] Failsafe: He's not, he's flown, he's bought an AO 3A unit, [2512.44] Failsafe: use it with the B two goals. [2513.44] Failsafe: And he's been saying, how about all the stuttering really puts him off? [2516.44] Failsafe: Cause he's, it's a hardcore animal pilot. [2518.44] Failsafe: So he's quite sensitive to latency and everything. [2521.44] Failsafe: He was just sort of saying that, yeah, he's not a great fan of, uh, [2524.44] Failsafe: geo-free and, and Calis Vista as well. [2526.44] Failsafe: He's, I don't, something doesn't get on with it. [2528.44] Stephen: Well, then I didn't notice it on the vista, but on the O three, [2532.44] Stephen: when I like do a yore from side to side and I know like, [2535.44] Stephen: I'm not doing anything crazy with the sticks. [2538.44] Stephen: Like I've got loads of expo and I'm just really slowly moving the [2541.44] Stephen: sticks on these fancy pants, AGO one gimbals and expect the quad to kind [2545.44] Stephen: of just your like that. [2546.44] Stephen: And it kind of goes, whoop, whoop, whoop, whoop. [2549.44] Stephen: And it feels like I'm seeing some frames disappear or the latency is just so [2555.44] Stephen: all over the place that it's really noticeable. [2558.44] Failsafe: I mean, I do want to say as well, like in terms of walks now compare with [2562.44] Failsafe: vistas, obviously I came from vistas. [2564.44] Failsafe: I went from DJI to walks and I've seen that progress over time. [2567.44] Failsafe: And I can, I'll definitely rather be flying with the walks and other vistas [2571.44] Failsafe: because I just, the built in storage as well is super handy. [2575.44] Failsafe: Like I can, you know, I can post a post of couples in serum reels where [2579.44] Failsafe: I'm just using the DVR and in my opinion, it looks very much superior, but you [2584.44] Failsafe: know, just DJI DVR because as you're recording directly on the VX, you [2588.44] Failsafe: got 32 gigabytes on there and the cake connectivity could be better. [2592.44] Failsafe: You know, it could have a, you know, a proper, a faster connection to transfer [2596.44] Failsafe: the footage. That's not a big deal, but yeah, I'd quite like the fact you can [2599.44] Failsafe: just record and they'll record directly on there on the VTX and you got, you [2603.44] Failsafe: know, just a clean, um, for you about any interference. [2607.44] Failsafe: I think that's a really proper advantage over the vistas. [2611.44] Stephen: Yeah. I have my little three and a half inch where I actually just glued the [2615.44] Stephen: USB to JST adapter in there so I could just shove a USB cable in the, in the [2620.44] Stephen: back of it. And I was thinking of crafting some of my own, I bought some [2623.44] Stephen: little USB-C sockets and I was going to make an extra small USB-C to JST and [2628.44] Stephen: just like stick them on a couple of the VTXs so I could just plug in and get [2632.44] Stephen: the footage because it's, it's nice to have does, it does the job. [2637.44] Failsafe: Yeah. Especially for those smaller builds as well. Now, now the VTXs are coming [2640.44] Failsafe: with like two gigabytes of storage on his tiny little board, like, you know, [2644.44] Failsafe: if there's micros and things like that, that's a, that's a big deal. [2647.44] Failsafe: It lasts a long time. [2648.44] Failsafe: It's a long time. [2649.44] Failsafe: Don't even know, three as well. You're getting now the main naked kits, which [2653.44] Failsafe: aren't really off the shelf, but that's, that's pretty cool as well. I quite like [2657.44] Failsafe: to try with others. [2660.44] Stephen: Yeah. And with, with the WalkSnail stuff, you've eight gig or 32 gig on board, [2665.44] Stephen: but it goes quite a long way at 1080p with WalkSnail, like the, I'll be [2669.44] Stephen: recording a video and it'll do about 1.7 gigs for five minutes. [2675.44] Stephen: And if I'm doing 0.3, that's like, I think at 1.20, because you want to get [2681.44] Stephen: 1.20 in the goggles, you put that up 1.20 4K and it's like nine and a half or [2687.44] Stephen: 10 gig for five minutes. And that's an amount of data that's actually fairly [2692.44] Stephen: difficult to move around. It's kind of on the upper end of, am I going to start [2696.44] Stephen: having to need to take like really fast external hard drives with me if I'm [2701.44] Stephen: going out for flying for a day, because I might have 200 gigs of footage at the [2705.44] Failsafe: end. I mean, can you change the, can you change the resolution and things like [2709.44] Failsafe: that to drop it down so you can record more? Because then you end up with, then [2714.44] Failsafe: you're going to be flying that resolution. That's the downside as well. You, [2717.44] Failsafe: wherever you're flying, you're recording in your flight. You also record a gyro [2721.44] Stephen: flow because you're going to be cropping inside the frame. So you end up with a [2725.44] Stephen: grittier image in gyro flow because you'd never get the full 4K because you're [2729.44] Stephen: having to, you know, crop in with gyro flow anyway. Yeah. I've not really seen [2734.44] Failsafe: that many pilots like Q's O3 as their main camera. Wait, their main actually [2739.44] Failsafe: camera. I've seen Philip actually, Philip's one of the pilots I have seen where he's [2744.44] Failsafe: using it as his like, well, he uses it as actually a backup. So he was flying with [2749.44] Failsafe: the action too. He broke his ND filter midway through the flight and just switched [2752.44] Failsafe: the O3 footage and it looked really good. So I've not really seen many pilots just [2758.44] Failsafe: switch exclusively to O3. Most of them are still running an action camera of [2762.44] Stephen: some kind, which is interesting. Yeah, I think it's worth a go just to actually [2771.44] Stephen: see if I can get a video out here. I think I've got a couple of clips. Some of [2778.44] Stephen: the footage is really, really nice, but at the same time, I'm not really a video [2785.44] Stephen: guy and I did have very good lighting. So I was able to get a few bits and pieces [2790.44] Stephen: that look nice. I had to fart around quite a lot to kind of get it. [2796.44] Failsafe: Also, I've just seen them go FPV in the chat saying trouble with DJI VTX is they [2802.14] Failsafe: have the S bus section two. What do you mean by that? As in? [2806.14] Stephen: They've got like S bus output from the VTX and some people, if they're not like [2811.14] Stephen: paying attention when they wire it, they can, they end up connecting the S bus [2816.14] Stephen: and it just spams a UART and people get quite confused. I always [2822.14] Stephen: repin the connectors so that I only have like the UART for the VTX and its power [2829.14] Stephen: supply connected, but by default, the cables they give you, they have S bus as well. [2834.14] Failsafe: Yeah, I just throw it away. Well, I don't run. [2837.14] Stephen: Cut them all. [2838.14] Failsafe: Yeah, I just deep in the UART with S bus. [2843.14] Stephen: So this is like a shot out of the O3. It's not bad. Obviously I can't play it [2849.14] Stephen: because then the quality probably just goes to bits. But yeah, I was getting some [2855.14] Stephen: pretty good footage out of it. It's just, I guess it's too expensive to put in [2862.14] Stephen: every quad and I can't really take it out of one quad and put it into another [2866.14] Stephen: at the drop of a hat. But it's nice. [2870.8] Failsafe: It's like it's frozen for us. [2872.8] Stephen: Yeah, I didn't want to play it because I thought I sensed and I do, it will just [2875.8] Stephen: go into a bunch of blocks. [2877.8] Failsafe: Right. [2879.8] Failsafe: Yeah, I've seen, well, a couple of videos I've seen, I don't know if he just flies [2887.8] Failsafe: it, but for all his videos he's doing, like you'll see he's bubbling a new video [2891.8] Failsafe: saying he's changed a few things in the setup and most of them, the main change [2895.8] Failsafe: really is he switched the action to his main camera. So I think he is using action [2900.8] Failsafe: too. And he's flying just amazing. It's just so good. It's ridiculous. [2905.8] Stephen: Yeah, he's kind of super human. I think I've got a perfect frame in here that kind [2909.8] Stephen: of illustrates some of the problems of O3, like coming out into sunlight because [2917.8] Stephen: it looks very, this is what I mean for all audio viewers, it's super cinematic, [2921.8] Stephen: but at the same time, like, where am I going again? Like, okay, that's beautiful. [2928.8] Stephen: But yeah. [2932.8] Failsafe: Yeah, that's a problem which I was being with as well. [2936.8] Failsafe: I think it's just a quite challenging thing for cameras to do, you know, [2941.8] Failsafe: switch from light to dark really quickly. [2944.8] Failsafe: I don't know if the Caddix Vista or whatever you're using previously is better [2947.8] Failsafe: than actually what it was. [2951.8] Stephen: I think some analog cameras have historically managed to do it. [2954.8] Stephen: It kind of get a little ways out and it started to get a bit better. [2957.8] Stephen: But yeah, you can get a bit close to obstacles without realizing. [2962.8] Stephen: Do you have to rebind whenever you go back to old air units though? [2965.8] Stephen: I'm actually not flying the old air units right now. [2968.8] Stephen: I think most of, I've got them in a couple of quads still, [2971.8] Stephen: but I found when I pick up something to fly, I'm picking up the walk-snail systems. [2977.8] Stephen: I'm not really thinking about it, but I'm just flying the walk-snail stuff every time. [2981.8] Stephen: So yeah, I'm not actually rebind. [2985.8] Stephen: I haven't had to rebind to the old system. [2988.8] Failsafe: I've thought about trying DJI as well. [2992.8] Failsafe: The other thing is I've sold my DJI V2 goggles to a friend. [2997.8] Failsafe: I've also been using the walk-snail goggles since then. [3002.8] Failsafe: I just really like the small form factor with them and how they fit on my face. [3007.8] Failsafe: They're not quite as big as bulky as the V2 goggles, [3011.8] Failsafe: which is what I quite like personally about. [3013.8] Stephen: I found going back to the DJI goggles, I was like, [3016.8] Stephen: oh wait, I must have knocked the focus when these were in the bag [3019.8] Stephen: because I can see the center of the screen, but the edges are all blurred. [3022.8] Stephen: Then I was like, oh no, that's just how they are. [3025.8] Stephen: They're just a massive box goggle. [3028.8] Stephen: Actually, I haven't used these for so long, [3031.8] Stephen: I'd forgotten that it's impossible to actually focus on the whole screen. [3035.8] Curry: I wonder if they call them the 03 goggles. [3044.8] Stephen: Fancy goggles, they're probably better. [3047.8] Failsafe: Do they have that? [3049.8] Failsafe: That's an interesting point because there's a lot of pilots in my group, [3055.8] Failsafe: those friends, that have tried the 03 goggles too. [3060.8] Failsafe: I'm actually going back to the V2 goggles. [3063.8] Failsafe: I think that's partly because with the V2 goggles, [3066.8] Failsafe: you get 120 hertz refresh rate, [3069.8] Failsafe: whereas the goggles too are only 100 hertz. [3072.8] Failsafe: You get a bit more refresh rate, I'm not sure that's the entire reason. [3075.8] Failsafe: I think the main reason is the fit and how they fit on your face. [3079.8] Failsafe: I think sometimes people find it's just too much field of view. [3082.8] Failsafe: That's the one problem I've noticed. [3085.8] Failsafe: Some people are saying the edge of the image will just be distorted. [3089.8] Failsafe: They prefer to go back to the V2 goggles [3092.8] Failsafe: just for less field of view, [3097.8] Failsafe: but you're getting decent quality and 120 FPS. [3101.8] Failsafe: That's what I've heard from my group. [3104.8] Failsafe: I'm not too sure what other people think. [3109.4] Stephen: I've heard a lot of people recommend going to the V2 goggles [3113.4] Stephen: to be able to get back 120 FPS. [3115.4] Stephen: It was always really curious that DJI released their flagship goggles. [3120.4] Stephen: I would expect the Integra to maybe be the lower performing one, [3125.4] Stephen: but to have the first flagship goggles for the O3 system [3130.4] Stephen: come out with a lesser frame rate than the previous ones, [3137.4] Stephen: that was super confusing to me. [3139.4] Stephen: I couldn't figure out what was going on there. [3141.4] Curry: Weird choice. [3143.4] Failsafe: I don't know if that's still a duck. [3145.4] Failsafe: I reckon that's probably something too the OLED screens are using. [3149.4] Failsafe: I don't know if it's such a thing as over-driving them [3151.4] Failsafe: so you can run a frame rate. [3154.4] Failsafe: You notice a lot of things with OLED goggles, [3156.4] Failsafe: like the walk-through ones, for example, they can only do 100 FPS. [3159.4] Failsafe: DJI do 100. [3160.4] Failsafe: I don't know if it's some sort of limitation with OLED. [3162.4] Failsafe: Well, not a limitation with OLED, [3164.4] Failsafe: but the technology around now, [3167.4] Failsafe: in that current time. [3168.4] Stephen: Seems like such a small reach to get from 100 to 120 though. [3172.4] Stephen: Yeah. [3173.4] Stephen: Such a small gap. [3174.4] Stephen: That's interesting. [3177.4] Stephen: But you're probably right. [3179.4] Stephen: There's one panel you can buy for a sensible amount of money [3182.4] Stephen: and that's the one they've all bought, [3184.4] Stephen: and they just can't do it anymore. [3186.4] Stephen: Probably right. [3189.4] Curry: What more do you want? [3191.4] Curry: DJI have graced you with the new goggles [3195.4] Curry: and you should buy it and like it and shut up. [3200.51] Stephen: You make a very valid point there, Jack, obviously. [3203.51] Stephen: Yeah. [3205.51] Curry: I had a quibble. [3209.51] Curry: Who wants a frame rate when you've got a nice looking picture? [3214.51] Failsafe: That's a buzz for life. [3216.51] Failsafe: I know it's with thinner foam. [3218.51] Failsafe: I didn't get much out. [3219.51] Failsafe: I didn't get out of focus as bad on goggles too. [3222.51] Failsafe: Also 4x3 helps. [3223.51] Failsafe: Yeah, that's true. [3224.51] Failsafe: 4x3, yeah. [3225.51] Failsafe: I'm just thinking about thinner foam though, [3227.51] Failsafe: because I had an issue where it... [3229.51] Failsafe: I don't know if it's just got a massive nose or something, [3231.51] Failsafe: but basically the goggles would just like, [3234.51] Failsafe: you know, you just notice that they haven't got much of a cut up for your nose. [3238.51] Failsafe: So if you've got thinner foam, okay, they're going to be closer. [3241.51] Failsafe: Is that going to be an issue with your nose as well? [3244.51] Failsafe: I don't know. [3245.51] Stephen: I had a big problem with the HT0 goggles. [3248.51] Stephen: I put them on. [3249.51] Stephen: It felt like someone had put like scissor blades down the size of my nose. [3254.51] Stephen: They were so narrow. [3255.51] Failsafe: Yes, that's well for me. [3256.51] Stephen: Yeah. [3257.51] Stephen: Very difficult. [3258.51] Stephen: Follow big noses, unite. [3263.79] Stephen: It's a hard life. [3265.79] Stephen: But yeah, the HT0 goggles, they were kind of my hope, [3267.79] Stephen: like maybe I get one goggle that just does everything. [3270.79] Stephen: It's going to be so amazing, like just do absolutely everything. [3274.79] Stephen: And then when I tried the one, I was like, oh God, no. [3278.79] Stephen: I've got the wrong face for this beautiful plan of mine. [3281.79] Stephen: It's not going to work at all. [3282.79] Stephen: No. [3283.79] Stephen: It's just going to give me pain. [3285.79] Curry: It's still no clear winner. [3286.79] Curry: I just want there to be, we're going with this. [3289.79] Curry: This is good. [3291.79] Stephen: Yeah. [3292.79] Stephen: People are still throwing stuff at the wall, aren't they? [3294.79] Stephen: That's where we are. [3295.79] Stephen: Throw stuff at the walls. [3296.79] Curry: It's hard to commit. [3298.79] Curry: It's hard to be like, yeah, I'm going to buy that system. [3301.79] Curry: I'm going to fly it. [3303.79] Curry: Do you think it'll ever get there though? [3305.79] Stephen: Or do you think people, there'll always be something that's a tiny [3308.79] Stephen: increment better. [3309.79] Stephen: And so people will always be chancing it and seeing what they could do. [3313.79] Curry: I don't know. [3314.79] Curry: I don't know. [3315.79] Curry: I don't know. [3316.79] Curry: It's like a lot, especially when you think like, how long have we had [3320.79] Curry: the, the O3 now? [3322.79] Curry: Have we had it a year? [3325.79] Curry: Is this our first, you know, like year of it winter and no one's going to [3332.79] Curry: be flying it and then you've got another two summers and then the three [3338.79] Curry: year thing where they turn off features and the V2 is not going to work [3344.79] Curry: anymore. [3345.79] Failsafe: It's coming up to a year. [3346.79] Failsafe: I reckon it's about, I reckon about 10, 11 months. [3351.79] Failsafe: O3 has been out. [3352.79] Failsafe: We'll just have a look. [3353.79] Failsafe: The O3A unit itself that is. [3355.79] Curry: Yeah. [3356.79] Curry: So you've only really got another two summers. [3359.79] Curry: We've had, we've had a weird summer where it was really late and then it [3365.79] Curry: was boiling hot for a week and now it's kind of eased back and that's, [3370.79] Curry: that's all we're going to get. [3374.84] Curry: But then it's, you know, then it's deep dark winter. [3379.84] Curry: I don't know. [3380.84] Stephen: Yeah. [3381.84] Stephen: It's a shame. [3382.84] Stephen: I've been following some of the other stuff where people are messing [3384.84] Stephen: around with Wi-Fi and that always looks like it's got a bit of promise, [3388.84] Stephen: but it's always slightly too big or too awkwardly shaped or just too many [3395.84] Stephen: really complex connections and USB connections and ribbon cables involved. [3400.84] Stephen: So I think I bought a single board computer that was supposed to work [3406.84] Stephen: with open HD about four years ago or three years ago and the support never [3411.84] Stephen: materialized and now it's too old and too slow and it will never work with it [3415.84] Stephen: and it's just, it's still in its box. [3417.84] Stephen: Just like I thought that would be a way to, you know, have an open solution. [3422.84] Stephen: There wasn't DJI, but just never got off the ground unless you've got some [3427.84] Stephen: massive monster quad, you know, eight inch props that can lift a giant video [3432.84] Stephen: system. [3433.84] Stephen: It's probably not the right choice. [3435.84] Failsafe: Yeah. [3436.84] Stephen: Boo. [3437.84] Stephen: Grumble, grumble. [3438.84] Stephen: Boo. [3439.84] Failsafe: Bad summer. [3440.84] Failsafe: Yes. [3441.84] Failsafe: Bad summer this year. [3442.84] Failsafe: As in bad, do you mean what? [3443.84] Failsafe: Too hot or you've not done much into the FPV? [3446.84] Curry: It's difficult, weren't I? [3452.88] Stephen: Well, it's been very changeable. [3454.88] Stephen: Changeable is the polite phrase that people in the UK use to describe the [3459.88] Stephen: mixture of rain blowing in your face. [3463.88] Stephen: So you can't see couples with just when you decided to go and huddle indoors [3468.88] Stephen: and put on all your winter clothing, incredibly hot days that remind us why [3473.88] Stephen: we should really have air conditioning. [3475.88] Stephen: And so the running indoors and outdoors has not really abated this year. [3479.88] Stephen: People haven't really had a period where it's been nice and everyone's been like, [3483.88] Stephen: okay, I'll actually plan and go fly somewhere. [3486.88] Failsafe: Yeah. [3487.88] Failsafe: Oh, yeah. [3488.88] Failsafe: So we just said rain. [3489.88] Failsafe: Yeah. [3490.88] Failsafe: Yeah. [3491.88] Failsafe: It's been pretty bad. [3492.88] Failsafe: Some days. [3493.88] Failsafe: Last weekend as well. [3494.88] Failsafe: That was so hot. [3496.88] Failsafe: It's complete opposite, which is absolutely boring, which is good. [3501.88] Failsafe: But I didn't go flying. [3503.88] Failsafe: Damn it. [3504.88] Failsafe: Does he know how you work? [3507.88] Failsafe: Yeah, that's the problem. [3510.88] Failsafe: But yeah, I'm so looking forward to next year doing all the trips again. [3516.88] Failsafe: A courage trip. [3517.88] Failsafe: We need to do that again. [3518.88] Stephen: Do you think you can go back to the same locations? [3520.88] Stephen: Have you got anything else planned? [3522.88] Failsafe: I think we'll definitely do the road trip again and go back to the same locations. [3527.88] Failsafe: I think we are thinking of basically inviting the same people as last year [3532.88] Failsafe: and just doing it because I think we had pretty much the perfect amount of people. [3536.88] Failsafe: But everyone else is welcome as well. [3540.88] Failsafe: But it's limited in terms of the transport and the accommodation we've got. [3545.88] Failsafe: Yeah, we're definitely doing it again. [3548.88] Failsafe: It was really fun. [3550.88] Stephen: It was a lot of fun. [3552.88] Stephen: I was a little bit terrified by the Papermill, but I'm happy to see that everyone came back [3557.88] Stephen: with all their extremities attached. [3559.88] Stephen: Oh, that Papermill. [3560.88] Failsafe: Oh, I've got this scar. [3562.88] Failsafe: Oh, yeah. [3563.88] Failsafe: That Papermill was, yeah, just brutal. [3565.88] Failsafe: That was like, yeah, it was so hot. [3569.88] Failsafe: One of the balls, which we saw last time, had just been knocked down in the main place [3574.88] Failsafe: before last time. [3575.88] Failsafe: It just knocked down. [3576.88] Failsafe: So there's been changes last year. [3577.88] Failsafe: In fact, we went there and we still saw some props on the table. [3580.88] Failsafe: I left them last year. [3581.88] Failsafe: No one goes there. [3583.88] Failsafe: Yeah, it's such a cool place. [3587.88] Failsafe: Any room for a few wings at Dronefest next year? [3590.88] Failsafe: Yeah. [3591.88] Failsafe: Bring him, Mike. [3592.88] Failsafe: We had Dean. [3593.88] Failsafe: We had Dean. [3594.88] Failsafe: Hulk Blackheath. [3595.88] Failsafe: He brought his wing. [3597.88] Failsafe: Actually, it was a plane. [3599.88] Failsafe: It wasn't a wing. [3600.88] Failsafe: But he did bring his plane on the Sunday evening. [3603.88] Failsafe: You're welcome to bring wings. [3604.88] Failsafe: There's no restrictions in terms of wings or planes or whatever you want to bring. [3608.88] Failsafe: As long as it's transmitting on the tent you're flying in, the channel that you're [3613.88] Failsafe: flying in, then that's what we might as well send it. [3616.88] Failsafe: Yeah, I can't wait for next year's Dronefest. [3620.88] Failsafe: We're not started planning yet, but we will be shortly, hopefully, in getting something [3625.88] Failsafe: together. [3626.88] Failsafe: There's a lot involved. [3627.88] Failsafe: It's been, what, last year we spent eight to nine months in Discord calls every single [3632.88] Failsafe: Wednesday just planning everything. [3635.88] Failsafe: It does take a while. [3638.88] Failsafe: It was worth it. [3641.88] Stephen: Are we going to see some kind of massive supercut of everything from this year as a featurette [3647.88] Stephen: or anything in the works? [3649.88] Failsafe: Yeah, so we saw, I don't know if you've seen the Camera Center UK video, but Camera Center [3653.88] Failsafe: UK, they came along and they've done a FPV movie, actually. [3657.88] Failsafe: It's well worth watching. [3660.88] Failsafe: They basically just did a movie. [3662.88] Failsafe: They took a few people out and did some interviews with a few of the guys, the organizers, and [3667.88] Failsafe: showed us some flight footage. [3669.88] Failsafe: It was just a generally amazing video just showcasing the whole event and what went into [3675.88] Failsafe: it. [3676.88] Failsafe: We're going to be back in our own video, hopefully soon, just detailing all the shots we've [3683.88] Failsafe: got. [3684.88] Failsafe: That's going to be coming soon. [3687.88] Stephen: I saw a few clips on Instagram from Croatia. [3691.88] Stephen: Have you got... [3692.88] Stephen: Oh, yes. [3693.88] Failsafe: That's on my pretty much endless thing of video footage I need to edit. [3700.88] Failsafe: The endless to-do list. [3702.88] Failsafe: Yes. [3703.88] Failsafe: I will be getting that edited soon. [3706.88] Failsafe: I know. [3707.88] Stephen: It's always one of these things that hangs over you, isn't it? [3710.88] Stephen: It's difficult. [3711.88] Failsafe: It's like 800 gigabytes worth of footage. [3714.88] Failsafe: It's been a holiday. [3715.88] Failsafe: I've got to go through. [3716.88] Failsafe: Oh, man. [3717.88] Failsafe: That is mental. [3718.88] Stephen: It's like there's a creative red bull that's got a date with you. [3722.88] Stephen: You've just got to sit down there and watch days of footage. [3725.88] Stephen: It's crazy. [3726.88] Failsafe: I've got so many different shots. [3728.88] Failsafe: It's just working out how to put them together. [3730.88] Failsafe: I think that's the main thing because we did so many different things. [3733.88] Failsafe: One minute we're going carting, one minute we're doing paddle boarding, and the next [3740.88] Failsafe: minute we're flying. [3741.88] Failsafe: There's so many different things. [3742.88] Failsafe: I just need to find a way of putting them together. [3744.88] Failsafe: I think I'm going to start. [3745.88] Curry: Talk to you about the hassle, isn't it? [3747.88] Failsafe: It's going to be all footage of the house, be all footage of each of the bandos. [3751.88] Failsafe: It's just how do you put a video together? [3755.88] Failsafe: I'm thinking of doing a video where I'm just overlaying it, just doing a speech over it, [3759.88] Failsafe: and then just showcase it, just talking a bit about each of the places, cutting to different [3763.88] Failsafe: things for live footage. [3765.88] Failsafe: I also don't want to make it too long as well because I don't think people want to watch [3769.88] Stephen: like a four hour epic like Lawrence of Arabia with quads. [3775.88] Stephen: Just a quad slowly, the distance getting closer and closer and closer with dramatic music [3782.88] Stephen: playing. [3783.88] Failsafe: So many people are used to short form content now, like on a little TikTok or Instagram [3790.88] Failsafe: Reels. [3791.88] Failsafe: I don't know if someone will want to watch like a 20 minute video. [3794.88] Stephen: Ignoramuses. [3795.88] Stephen: Make them educated. [3797.88] Stephen: Set them down for a button. [3799.88] Stephen: I mean, Christopher Nolan, three and a half hour epic with quads. [3803.88] Curry: Yeah, I'll definitely do that. [3807.88] Curry: Can you imagine that? [3809.88] Curry: Just taking people to the... [3812.88] Failsafe: I know! [3813.88] Failsafe: It's Mad Tech. [3814.88] Curry: Mad Tech. [3815.88] Stephen: I just can't stop thinking about the intro to Lawrence of Arabia, but with quads like [3819.88] Stephen: a quad getting really just looking out over a desert and it goes towards you really slowly. [3824.88] Stephen: It's just dramatic music. [3827.88] Curry: It really sort of makes you like take your hat off to vloggers where they have the cutaways [3835.88] Curry: explaining like we done this and this, you know, this happened and, you know, like B-roll [3842.88] Curry: and sort of just continuity. [3845.88] Curry: Like the way Cole does it is like he takes my footage of a, you know, like a place that [3854.88] Curry: he's never been. [3855.88] Curry: He wasn't there on the trip and sort of like puts it together. [3858.88] Curry: So it's like, you know, just digestible. [3864.88] Curry: I really, the goal, I appreciate you if you listen to this. [3867.88] Curry: You probably won't, but no worries. [3872.88] Curry: Right. [3873.88] Curry: Unfortunately, that is all we got time for. [3877.88] Curry: You've been listening to Let's Throw Now. [3881.88] Curry: Massive shout out to all our Patreons who keep the lights on, keep the host in, keep [3887.88] Curry: everything going. [3888.88] Curry: Thank you, guys. [3889.88] Curry: We really appreciate you. [3890.88] Curry: You guys rule. [3891.88] Curry: You know who you are. [3893.88] Curry: You're awesome. [3894.88] Stephen: Thank you. [3895.88] Curry: Yeah. [3896.88] Curry: There's also a couple of slots for executive people with certain donations where we'll [3903.88] Curry: read your name and say thank you at the beginning of the pre-recorded episodes. [3908.88] Curry: If you just listen to this as an audio podcast, it is recorded on YouTube. [3913.88] Curry: We're live every Thursday at eight p.m. till nine. [3917.88] Curry: And if there's certain things that we talk about that you want to see, it should marry [3923.88] Curry: up quite nicely on the YouTube. [3925.88] Curry: That's youtube.com. [3926.88] Curry: Let's turn out. [3927.88] Curry: And our Patreons, patreon.com forward slash let's turn out. [3932.88] Curry: And you guys rule. [3935.88] Curry: You've been listening to The Man With The Restart, Stephen. [3940.88] Curry: Good evening. [3941.88] Curry: Good to talk to you all again. [3943.88] Curry: See you next week. [3944.88] Curry: DJ failsafe. [3946.88] Failsafe: Hello. [3947.88] Failsafe: Yep. [3948.88] Failsafe: See you all next week. [3950.88] Curry: And my buddy Cole, who's not here anymore, because he had to shoot off to work. [3955.88] Curry: And I'm bright until I fly. [3957.88] Curry: Thank you. [3958.88] Curry: Good night. [3959.88] Curry: Telemetry lost.
