[13.0] Jack: Massive thank you to… [14.4] Jack: Carlos Campos! [16.12] Jack: Art Faulkner! [17.84] Frank: Sam Dahmer. [19.68] Frank: On with the show. [20.68] Jack: Hello and welcome to Let's Drone Out. [55.18] Jack: Tonight we are joined by everyone's not favourite, Andrew Tafranc. [66.74] Stephen: You are everyone's favourite. [68.58] Stephen: Now Curry is on a sabbatical, you are officially everyone's favourite. [72.82] Stephen: You have to step into those shoes, stretch out, you know, get used to them. [77.46] Stephen: I know how I'm not one's favourite, Andrew Tafranc. [81.34] Jack: Everyone's least favourite, Steven. [85.42] Jack: Hello, Clebs. [87.42] Jack: And everyone's most irritable brides-of-fly. Hello. [94.42] Frank: So, wheels have confirmed that there's going to be some FPV stuff there, so… [100.42] Frank: Andrew Tafranc. [102.42] Jack: You're not allowed to talk about wings and wheels because you get in trouble. [107.42] Jack: You are banned from talking about that, you little s***. [113.42] Jack: What, me or Frank? [115.42] Jack: Frank, you alright? [116.42] Jack: I know I'm missing you. [118.42] Stephen: That's alright. [119.42] Stephen: I think it's all silly. [120.42] Stephen: I think they should get rid of all the scale stuff and just have it as an FPV event. [124.42] Stephen: You named your dog Bob. [126.42] Stephen: Yeah. [127.42] Stephen: Can't go wrong with that. [128.42] Stephen: It's a solid name. [129.42] Jack: Can't be old-fashioned, but that's a bloke's name. [133.42] Jack: Cat's a horse. [140.42] Jack: She's got a beard. [144.42] Jack: Bob. [145.42] Jack: No. [146.42] Jack: Yeah. [147.42] Jack: Most snowsers do have a beard, don't they? [150.42] Stephen: Yeah. [151.42] Stephen: Wow. [152.42] Stephen: So, yeah, wings and wheels. [153.42] Stephen: There will be some wheels. [154.42] Stephen: There'll be some wings. [155.42] Stephen: Whether there's going to be any adequate video transmission is once again up to the gods. [160.42] Frank: No, there is definitely going to be FPV at wings and wheels. [163.42] Frank: There's going to be Andy R.C. and his mate Phil are going to be doing some scale FPV. [168.42] Frank: There's going to be a bunch of other people doing some scale FPV. [172.42] Frank: There's going to be jets. [174.42] Frank: There's going to be 3D planes. [176.42] Frank: There's going to be the wing racing, the X-class racing. [180.42] Frank: So, there's going to be all of that all happening FPV, potentially some big screens, but that's [187.42] Frank: all still very much in the works. [189.42] Frank: You know, Martin was on the other week. [193.42] Frank: He's compressing about a year-long planning process into what, six months? [202.42] Frank: He's compressing this event that has sprawled over the airfield down into a corner of this [210.42] Frank: estate. [211.42] Frank: So, there's going to be a lot going on. [214.42] Frank: It's going to be very densely populated with things. [217.42] Stephen: Hopefully, if there's FPV on the main flight line, then maybe they'll be incentivized to [222.42] Stephen: go and put some big old screens on the main flight line so you can see what's going on [226.42] Stephen: FPV as well. [227.42] Stephen: Exactly. [228.42] Frank: And even if there isn't, there are plans to feed the FPV feeds locally over the Wi-Fi. [238.42] Frank: There's going to be some Wi-Fi hotspots that are going to be feeding FPV feeds. [243.42] Frank: I don't think anything can go wrong with that. [244.42] Stephen: That's a great plan. [246.42] Frank: There you go. [248.42] Frank: So, there's that potentially, but we shall see. [253.42] Jack: I think the people with stilts who are selling things and they bring them by, if anything [262.42] Jack: gets turned on by them, they have to sign a waiver that means that if they turn it on, [267.42] Jack: it gets hit with a hammer very hard several times by a man wearing a monkey suit. [274.42] Jack: Before they insert it. [279.83] Jack: Well, no, it's going to be excretion, isn't it? [282.83] Jack: From the monkey. [284.83] Jack: Are you volunteering? [285.83] Jack: Have you bought a monkey suit? [287.83] Jack: I used to have a monkey suit. [291.83] Stephen: Before someone else in a monkey suit came up and hit you for wearing a monkey suit. [296.83] Frank: That's what you got in your first drone employment, right, Jack? [300.83] Jack: Wearing a monkey suit? [302.83] Jack: Yeah, like, daddy, that's what I used to call the mobos. [308.83] Jack: Obviously, everyone does, yeah. [312.83] Jack: Tony will agree with this. [315.83] Jack: They made me do an interview and I was so enraged by this. [319.83] Jack: I sat there in the waiting room with a gorilla mask on. [324.83] Tony: I remember. [325.83] Jack: And he still gave me the job. [328.83] Jack: Oh, yeah. [332.83] Frank: Now, what we should do to avoid any issues is just have what Clive shared in the LDO [340.83] Frank: Discord this week, which is the AKK Alpha 10 10 watt VTX. [346.83] Frank: I think if you have that and just have that queued up to like just a little screen saying, [354.83] Frank: like, you shouldn't be transmitting on this frequency, go away. [358.83] Stephen: And great for keeping your tea warm at the field as well. [362.83] Tony: Can you cook on it? [364.83] Tony: Can you put your hands on it? [370.83] Jack: Get a little frying pan. [371.83] Jack: Yeah, perfect. [372.83] Jack: What's that spray oil called? [374.83] Jack: Like one cow. [376.83] Jack: One cow? [378.83] Jack: You need to get one cow in one of them. [381.83] Jack: No, cow is in colour. [383.83] Jack: Just one spray. [384.83] Jack: One cow. [386.83] Jack: No, cow is in short for calorie. [389.83] Jack: C-A-L. [391.83] Jack: Not C-O-W. [392.83] Stephen: I'd be well impressed if you'd be like, you know, weight gain 3000. [398.83] Stephen: Just one spray. [399.83] Stephen: One cow. [401.83] Jack: Yeah. [402.83] Jack: Yeah. [403.83] Jack: I always wanted to play hide the sausage. [404.83] Jack: Get one of those light emergency. [408.83] Stephen: Also, we're going to need that as a clip. [409.83] Jack: Thank you. [411.83] Tony: We probably had that somewhere before. [414.83] Tony: Hook it up. [415.83] Jack: Hook it up to an OSD that just says f**k.com and then hide it and people have to find it. [421.83] Frank: Don't go to your website. [422.83] Jack: Yeah. [423.83] Jack: Don't go to that website. [426.83] Jack: What I will need to do is bleep that website out just in case. [431.83] Jack: Do I dare type in the hide the sausage? [433.83] Stephen: Jack's had that site for years and he just can't make it pay for itself somehow. [438.83] Stephen: Still trying to monetise this concept. [440.83] Stephen: You'd have thought it would pay for itself. [446.4] Frank: Oh my God. [448.4] Tony: I've been listening back to our podcasts and really enjoyed it. [452.4] Tony: Even though the beeping and the. [455.4] Stephen: Where did the beeping come from? [457.4] Stephen: It didn't even sound like a bleep. [458.4] Stephen: It was just like someone had a sound effect on their PC. [462.4] Tony: Like that. [463.4] Tony: Yeah. [464.4] Tony: Yeah. [466.4] Tony: I enjoyed this. [467.4] Jack: I remember. [468.4] Jack: I remember we got a lot of PSs from the Thursday night show. [474.4] Jack: I like certain things. [476.4] Jack: They found. [478.4] Jack: Funny other things. [480.4] Jack: DJI 13,000. [482.4] Jack: That's a lot of vaginal activity. [484.4] Jack: Ofcom had something to say about that. [489.4] Jack: Yeah. [490.4] Jack: There's multiple things that had something to say, but I think I remember. [494.4] Jack: Yeah. [495.4] Jack: Yeah. [496.4] Jack: Ofcom didn't like that one. [498.4] Jack: I can't remember. [499.4] Jack: I got loads of other stuff. [501.4] Stephen: You actually had a shout out from Ofcom. [503.4] Jack: Oh yeah. [504.4] Jack: Big time. [505.4] Jack: Yeah. [506.4] Jack: Rachel from Ofcom. [507.4] Jack: We came to visit me. [510.4] Tony: Wasn't she going to come on here? [513.4] Stephen: No. [516.4] Stephen: Not even after the sausage offer. [519.4] Jack: No. [520.4] Jack: No. [521.4] Jack: She said all it'll do is highlight and then incite to riot or something. [527.4] Jack: That was the time she said. [529.4] Stephen: Well, I mean, incitement of grumbling, I think, but bright scenes. [534.4] Jack: It was. [535.4] Jack: Yeah. [536.4] Jack: She was just like, you know, we're in the middle of nowhere, as long as we're not [539.4] Jack: affecting anyone, but it's to do with the, is it the PPL license for the music [546.4] Jack: and streams and stuff? [548.4] Stephen: Oh, right. [549.4] Stephen: Yeah. [550.4] Stephen: You have a lot of unlicensed music on earlier, didn't you? [553.4] Jack: Yeah. [555.4] Jack: But you were allowed to because they had a PPL license. [562.4] Frank: Yeah. [563.4] Frank: On the Thursday night show, which is the internet radio station that we started off [568.4] Frank: on. [569.4] Frank: But obviously then when you release that as a podcast, that is different from the [575.4] Stephen: DMCA takedowns. [578.4] Stephen: Yeah. [580.4] Frank: Yeah. [581.4] Jack: And the CIA often saying offensive things and listening back about the I don't [589.4] Tony: know what we were talking about. [591.4] Tony: Air mode. [592.4] Tony: When that first come out, that was eight years ago. [594.4] Jack: Yeah. [595.4] Jack: And I still use idle up and people are like stone age. [601.4] Stephen: I've been saying you're in the stone age since I got on the show, I think. [604.4] Stephen: So, yeah, I see prior arguments. [607.4] Stephen: I'm sure you know how to do it the right way. [610.4] Stephen: It's just at this point. [611.4] Jack: Yeah, it's just a number. [613.4] Jack: I do it just to irritate people now. [617.4] Jack: Yeah. [619.4] Tony: I think you did it back then to irritate people as well. [623.4] Tony: We were talking about the drone show. [625.4] Tony: I drone the event that Metal Danny come over to because he was one of our first [631.4] Tony: listeners, if you remember. [633.4] Tony: Yeah. [634.4] Tony: Yes. [635.4] Tony: It was nice listening back actually. [637.4] Tony: And we had some right giggles in there. [638.4] Tony: It was quite funny. [640.4] Jack: I'm violating multiple GDPR thing by obtaining people's e-mails through [648.4] Jack: just nagging people constantly. [651.4] Jack: We won this rehearsal on the show. [653.4] Jack: Give us contact. [654.4] Jack: Did you ever get Metal Danny on the show? [656.4] Jack: I don't think you did, did you? [657.4] Jack: Yeah. [658.4] Tony: I don't think you come on. [660.4] Jack: No. [661.4] Jack: We spoke to him on your phone. [664.4] Jack: Oh, right. [665.4] Tony: We're waiting on that. [666.4] Tony: Yeah. [667.4] Tony: I think he was too afraid of his English not being that good. [671.4] Tony: But I mean, he literally drove from Holland to here. [677.4] Tony: Wow. [678.4] Tony: Put him up in a fence, sit down a road, and then we went to the next morning. [684.4] Tony: We went to an event. [685.4] Jack: FPV league. [687.4] Tony: Yeah. [688.4] Tony: Yeah. [689.4] Tony: One of them was good times when everything was exciting. [693.4] Tony: On the FPV. [694.4] Tony: On the FPV. [695.4] Tony: Yeah. [696.4] Stephen: Oh, that one. [697.4] Frank: Oh, my God. [698.4] Stephen: It's been a slow January. [701.4] Stephen: I'm not sure there's going to be any product releases this year. [704.4] Stephen: I think they all happened before Christmas at this point. [707.4] Frank: Well, so the pork's now 4K thing, right? [710.4] Stephen: Oh, yeah, I suppose. [712.4] Stephen: That was kind of floating around before Christmas and people leaking it everywhere. [716.4] Stephen: No, no. [717.4] Jack: Leaking everywhere. [720.4] Stephen: Yeah. [721.4] Jack: Because they put it up on their website without, you know, listed the name and the name. [727.4] Stephen: I saw Ian's stuff, Matt's review of it. [730.4] Stephen: It looks okay. [732.4] Stephen: But once again, in this light, do you want a high-res flight footage? [736.4] Stephen: Well, you've got to turn up the latency. [738.4] Stephen: Oh, you want low latency? [740.4] Stephen: Well, your footage is going to look like dog dirt. [744.4] Stephen: So it's not a perfect solution. [747.4] Frank: Turns out there's a certain number of bits that you can get through the air. [753.87] Stephen: Well, yeah, turns out like all these video encoding ASICs can't do everything at once. [759.87] Stephen: They can do a few things, but not everything. [762.87] Frank: Speaking of the UK Drain Show, which is the event that used to happen up at the NEC in [768.87] Frank: Birmingham in the middle of the build season, there's a reminder to anyone that can make [777.87] Frank: it. [778.87] Frank: It's Bird this weekend, the Birmingham International Race Days this coming weekend, as of recording, [786.87] Frank: which is the 28th of January. [790.87] Frank: No, no. [791.87] Frank: It's not the word. [793.87] Frank: It's something else. [794.87] Frank: It is. [795.87] Frank: No. [796.87] Frank: It's the phrase. [797.87] Frank: It's four words. [798.87] Frank: Yeah. [799.87] Frank: Acronym. [800.87] Frank: Yeah. [801.87] Frank: Bird, bird, bird. [803.87] Stephen: The initial is the acronym. [806.87] Jack: I'm not allowed to sing it. [808.87] Jack: Rachel, tell us off again. [810.87] Jack: That wasn't singing. [812.87] Jack: No, we'll call that singing. [814.87] Jack: Singing even more our off key. [816.87] Stephen: We could not be right. [818.87] Stephen: So when is there going to be another kind of FPV or RC related show, do you think? [823.87] Stephen: Do you think they're going to happen or did they just get rolled into armaments conventions? [827.87] Jack: No, AI now, wasn't it? [829.87] Jack: It went from Bitcoin to drones to AI. [834.66] Stephen: Yeah, it's pretty boring AI, though. [836.66] Stephen: It's just a lot of people sitting around talking about how they wrote some Python scripts [840.66] Stephen: that tell a machine to do something way more interesting than a Python script. [847.14] Jack: What's his name? [849.14] Jack: You're going to have AI drones. [851.14] Jack: You're going to be like... [852.14] Jack: Well, I already do, I mean... [854.14] Jack: You're going to be like a whole controller and be like this and tricks, [858.14] Jack: and then watch it do a load of tricks and be like, yeah, I told it to do it. [862.14] Jack: It's an AI drone. [863.14] Stephen: And AI drones are not like doing tricks. [866.14] Stephen: That's the trouble. [867.14] Stephen: I'm just going to put the disclaimer up there and you can figure out what the rest of it is. [871.14] Stephen: But they're very much the... [875.14] Stephen: Yeah, is that a person? [876.14] Stephen: Oh, fun times. [877.14] Stephen: Let's go and say hello to them. [881.14] Stephen: Very friendly. [882.14] Stephen: Yeah. [883.14] Stephen: Oh, that one stopped being friendly. [884.14] Stephen: Let's find someone else to do and be friendly to. [889.14] Jack: Where did it go? [890.14] Frank: Some magic. [891.14] Jack: Like one of those small dogs missing its owner's leg. [896.14] Stephen: Yeah. [897.14] Stephen: Sort of like that, but with more weapons. [901.14] Frank: More splody. [903.14] Frank: Yeah. [905.14] Frank: That was also posted in the LDO Discord this week. [910.14] Frank: It was the MOD's latest answer to cantankerous drones. [918.14] Frank: Cantankerous? [919.14] Stephen: Is that the official classification then? [920.14] Stephen: Yep. [921.14] Stephen: Yep. [922.14] Frank: I couldn't remember what... [923.14] Jack: Release bears into the wild and the bears will eat the FPVers. [929.14] Jack: Bears eat drones. [932.14] Frank: No. [933.14] Frank: They were deploying dogs to scare away the drones, so I don't see why. [939.14] Jack: What's dogs doing? [940.14] Jack: Flying dogs. [941.14] Frank: That was still what Liz Truss announced in Parliament. [946.14] Stephen: You could have just led with that. [948.14] Stephen: She's got more teeth than brain cells. [955.14] Jack: Any views expressed by any guest on this show? [961.14] Jack: A person who might not reflect the views of others. [965.14] Frank: Yeah. [966.14] Frank: What Robin posted was the MOD's Dragonfire 50-kilowatt laser. [976.14] Jack: Oh. [977.14] Jack: 50-kilowatt flamethrower. [979.14] Jack: Can you imagine that? [981.14] Jack: So that sounds cool, but... [982.14] Stephen: It's a bit lighter. [983.14] Stephen: The further away you're shooting, the less power you get, right? [987.14] Stephen: You get quite a high drop-off, especially with Britain's inclement weather. [992.14] Stephen: Like, if you have drizzle, a 50-kilowatt laser probably isn't going to go much further than the end of the road, is it? [999.14] Stephen: What happens in those situations? [1001.14] Jack: The trouble is, if you go too high on the microwaveness, you end up cooking the pilot like a ready meal. [1012.14] Frank: Well, this is like visible light, I think. [1017.14] Frank: Not a microwave, and they're talking about going a kilometer, so there you go. [1024.14] Frank: Something. [1028.86] Stephen: So what are they going to do with the laser? [1032.86] Stephen: Shoot it at things? [1034.86] Stephen: Shooting drones out of the sky, aren't they? [1036.86] Stephen: I mean, this is a typical military strategy. [1038.86] Stephen: We'll get a really expensive thing, and then we'll figure out what to do with it. [1042.86] Frank: Well, maybe they've figured it out, but they haven't posted that particular bit of information, but it's... [1048.86] Stephen: If they had to be within a mile of it, wouldn't it just be easier to use another type of armament that won't blind passers-by? [1057.86] Jack: G-Force is updating. [1059.86] Jack: It's been nice knowing you guys. [1062.86] Tony: I just started, and I just managed to cancel it. [1066.86] Tony: I know. [1067.86] Jack: I know. [1068.86] Jack: I got a Windows Defender notification. [1071.86] Jack: I looked at that, and then it horned-swoggled me. [1076.86] Tony: Oh, God, that was another thing that I remember hearing about ten times. [1081.86] Tony: Apple versus PC and Chris Weston soldering, et cetera. [1086.86] Jack: Oh, mate. [1088.86] Jack: The crap I used to get for having an apple. [1092.86] Jack: Do you remember that? [1093.86] Jack: Yeah. [1094.86] Jack: Do you remember, like, the fight? [1096.86] Jack: I'd pull out an apple laptop, and everyone would just threaten to smash it. [1102.86] Jack: Good times. Good times. [1104.86] Jack: Sounds fair. [1105.86] Jack: There was teeth marks. [1108.86] Jack: There was this guy... [1110.86] Jack: Yeah, but that was just from you. [1111.86] Frank: Who was he? [1112.86] Frank: Just, like, not feeling that way to go to open it. [1115.86] Jack: Bit it. Bit my laptop. [1121.86] Frank: I'm sure that he was only returning what he got from you, so... [1128.86] Stephen: Max do look like a pain to support in the world of FPV. [1132.86] Stephen: I've seen what happened now. [1133.86] Stephen: They've got those new MYM2 CPUs, and, like, nothing bloody works on them. [1139.86] Stephen: It's all just anything used to work. [1141.86] Stephen: No, no, no. [1142.86] Stephen: Even if it used to work on Mac, forget about it. [1144.86] Jack: Goodbye. [1145.86] Jack: What do you mean? [1146.86] Jack: It's got the same ARM processor as your lovely beta flight controllers. [1151.86] Jack: What more do you want? [1153.86] Jack: Compatibility. [1155.86] Jack: Oh, no, you can't have that. [1157.86] Jack: That's like an extra couple of grand. [1160.86] Jack: Yeah, right. [1161.86] Jack: You've got to pay Intel if you want that. [1164.86] Stephen: Just all the little utilities that used to work on the old stuff, [1167.86] Stephen: they just apparently don't work at all on those. [1171.86] Jack: Yeah, not everything made it over from 32-bit. [1175.86] Stephen: Basically, it's going to be the case. [1179.14] Stephen: You want to do FPV in the future, you're going to need, like, a Windows XP laptop [1184.14] Stephen: that you keep in a locked safe, that you don't have any... [1188.14] Jack: This coming from some person who's, like, BL Heli, [1191.14] Jack: and, like, sitting there flashing his ESCs over to... [1197.14] Jack: What was he flashing them over to? [1199.14] Stephen: Sitting there flashing, you can talk. [1201.14] Stephen: At least I've got trousers on. [1205.14] Stephen: I don't encourage it. [1208.14] Jack: I know. [1209.14] Jack: They're there for my business. [1211.14] Jack: They're gone. [1212.14] Stephen: They're gone. [1213.14] Stephen: Have fun. [1214.14] Stephen: We can still see the camera, mate. [1215.14] Stephen: Don't worry, it's fine. [1218.14] Stephen: So, yeah, yeah, I've flashed everything to AM32, [1221.14] Stephen: and I've had remarkably little issues. [1224.14] Stephen: It's, yeah, you know, it was pretty new and scary, [1229.14] Stephen: but it wasn't too bad. [1232.14] Jack: Is it an ST-Link you have to use, or is it an FTDI? [1237.14] Stephen: ST-Link, yeah, yeah. [1239.14] Stephen: Just get an ST-Link. [1241.14] Stephen: Most of them are, like, FO5 ones or the GO7 ones. [1246.14] Stephen: They're just STM32, and you just grab an ST-Link, [1249.14] Stephen: and you're done. [1250.14] Stephen: You've got one of these new fancy ones [1252.14] Stephen: that's, like, one of those artillery tech chips. [1256.14] Stephen: That's a bit more of a pain in the bum. [1258.14] Stephen: Well, just buy one that's already flashed, you know? [1262.14] Stephen: Yeah. [1263.14] Stephen: A lot of star stars or something. [1265.14] Jack: Yeah. [1266.14] Stephen: They're not. [1267.14] Stephen: I think you've got one already. [1269.14] Stephen: You've got one already. [1270.14] Stephen: You've got one already. [1271.14] Stephen: Didn't you get the star stars AM32 one? [1273.14] Jack: Yeah, no, no, no, man. [1275.14] Jack: I just... [1276.14] Jack: No, they're all BL. [1278.14] Jack: They're all BL32. [1280.14] Jack: I could. [1281.14] Stephen: You should be cheaper as well, because it's, like, [1283.14] Stephen: a dollar an ESC. [1284.14] Jack: You don't pay the license. [1285.14] Stephen: Yeah, yeah. [1287.14] Stephen: So they have to pay BL32, like, a buck an ESC, [1290.14] Stephen: and then they put margin on top of that, [1292.14] Stephen: so fingers crossed it should. [1295.14] Stephen: You either get more hardware for the same price. [1298.14] Stephen: Maybe the manufacturer makes more profit, [1300.14] Stephen: but, you know, they're probably likely [1301.14] Stephen: to make them a couple of quid cheaper. [1304.14] Stephen: Worth a go. [1305.14] Stephen: And he does seem like a nice guy. [1307.14] Stephen: We've been following him for a few years, [1309.14] Stephen: and he's very quick to answer questions, [1312.14] Stephen: and whenever there's been some new feature [1314.14] Stephen: or some improvement that could be made, [1315.14] Stephen: he was right on it. [1316.14] Stephen: So, yeah, I can't complain. [1319.14] Jack: Well, aren't we supposed to get the sky stars [1322.14] Jack: and the other AM32 guy on? [1326.14] Jack: Is it possible? [1328.14] Jack: Can we talk to them? [1329.14] Stephen: Alka, I don't think you wanted to talk about... [1331.14] Stephen: The guy that we did get on Unet... [1334.14] Stephen: Oh, I forgot the guy's real name. [1337.83] Stephen: Ikey. [1339.83] Stephen: He's been helping out transition that project [1342.83] Stephen: because it was like a project for each type of MCU, [1346.83] Stephen: and he kept adding more and more MCUs from different vendors, [1349.83] Stephen: so it just became this sprawling mass [1351.83] Stephen: of different bits of code, [1353.83] Stephen: and Ikey was, like, condensing it all down [1356.83] Stephen: into this single project, [1357.83] Stephen: and that's been released now. [1358.83] Stephen: That's been out for a month or so at this point. [1362.83] Stephen: Yeah, seems to go pretty well. [1364.83] Stephen: I wrote the documentation [1366.83] Stephen: for BETA Flight recommending ESC types, [1368.83] Stephen: and I was going through and looking at BL Heli32, [1372.83] Stephen: and basically everything after 32.7 seems to be cursed, [1377.83] Stephen: and 32.7 was... [1381.83] Stephen: like 2019, I think? [1383.83] Stephen: It's a long time ago. [1384.83] Stephen: Before the lot... [1385.83] Jack: Yeah, before Crayburn, [1388.83] Jack: and everything. [1389.83] Jack: Wow. [1390.83] Jack: What do you mean, cursed, though? [1391.83] Jack: What, it just goes wrong? [1393.83] Stephen: Yeah, you get, like, hot motors, [1395.83] Stephen: or you get jitters, [1396.83] Stephen: or you get crazy wobbles. [1398.83] Stephen: Yeah, it's all sorts of weird issues. [1402.83] Stephen: Or sometimes just, like, the motors don't speak properly [1405.83] Stephen: because the ESC timing is off [1407.83] Stephen: and isn't picking up what the flight controller's telling it to do. [1414.53] Jack: So not like one clock for all four individuals. [1419.53] Stephen: Well, there was this spec that said, [1421.53] Stephen: we expect you to come back with the RPM telemetry [1424.53] Stephen: in this amount of time, [1426.53] Stephen: and basically no one read the spec, [1429.53] Stephen: and then BETA Flight's like, [1432.53] Stephen: okay, so the spec says we expect them to come back [1435.53] Stephen: in this amount of time. [1436.53] Stephen: Well, we want to get on and do other stuff, [1438.53] Stephen: so instead of waiting for this huge amount of time, [1440.53] Stephen: we'll just wait for the amount of time the spec says, [1442.53] Stephen: and then everything broke, [1444.53] Stephen: because no one had actually read the spec. [1446.53] Stephen: They'd just sort of guessed at what would work, [1449.53] Stephen: and that took a while for various people to fix. [1452.53] Stephen: Unfortunately, because BL-Heli32 development's pretty slow right now, [1456.53] Stephen: it took them a really long time to get back to the fix, [1459.53] Stephen: so there's a whole bunch of broken releases from BL-Heli32 at this point. [1466.53] Jack: Because I remember speaking to Oscar [1468.53] Jack: and saying that the person who wrote the BL-Heli light configurator [1475.53] Jack: done all that work, so I would work on Mac and everything, [1479.53] Jack: and basically didn't really get much thank you for it, [1486.53] Jack: and I really sort of updated that, [1489.53] Jack: because if you're old and you use the original suite, [1495.53] Jack: I mean, that is dinosaur juice right there. [1501.53] Stephen: And BL-Heli32 suite looks like the original BL-Heli configurator, doesn't it? [1507.53] Stephen: It's not like... [1508.53] Jack: It really is. [1509.53] Jack: It's got a red logo that's as exciting as it gets. [1514.53] Stephen: They could have made it easier to use. [1517.53] Jack: Yeah, and the custom tunes were like polyphonic ringtones. [1523.53] Jack: I'm not saying so, man. [1525.53] Stephen: You shouldn't have to go and read like... [1528.53] Stephen: Read? [1529.53] Stephen: You shouldn't have to watch like two hours of Joshua Bardwell videos [1532.53] Stephen: to know how to set up your ESC. [1534.53] Stephen: And it's because those videos are there, [1536.53] Stephen: no one bothers to make that configurator any easier to use. [1541.53] Jack: Yeah. [1542.53] Jack: I felt sorry for Carl. [1544.53] Jack: I knew as soon as Carl made the transition to, you know, [1550.53] Jack: BL-Heli ESC, only seven inch. [1553.53] Jack: And I knew that there was going to be times of me screaming at him, [1558.53] Jack: being like, click this, and him being like, why or what? [1563.53] Jack: And I was just like, look, it's like that. [1566.53] Stephen: Go look at Mr. Bardwell's video. [1568.53] Stephen: It's one hour, 27 minutes in. [1572.53] Stephen: He talks about it for 30 seconds and explains what the setting is. [1575.53] Stephen: Is it written down anywhere? [1576.53] Stephen: No, of course it's not written down anywhere. [1578.53] Jack: You're meant to know the timestamp and URL, [1582.53] Jack: and that's how we like it. [1584.53] Jack: It stops the idiots flying. [1590.53] Jack: Why would you want to be able to search for something? [1593.53] Jack: I know, yeah. [1594.53] Jack: You're just meant to know. [1595.53] Jack: You're just meant to feel it. [1597.53] Jack: You're meant to like glide your mouth in your nipples, tinkle. [1600.53] Jack: Like when you're hovering over the correct Bardwell video. [1603.53] Stephen: It's two and a half degrees, 23 degrees. [1605.53] Stephen: Oh, yeah. [1606.53] Stephen: Oh, yeah. [1607.53] Jack: Timing. [1608.53] Jack: Oh, DMAG. [1610.53] Jack: DMAG. [1611.53] Jack: DMAG. [1612.53] Jack: Bardwell. [1613.53] Stephen: Oh, I swear. [1615.53] Stephen: The DMAG thing is completely invented by BL Heli [1620.53] Stephen: because in the wider community of hobby motors [1624.53] Stephen: and speed controllers, DMAG compensation doesn't mean anything. [1629.53] Stephen: And we had to kind of, you have to read the history [1633.53] Stephen: of the BL Heli project to figure out what the hell [1636.53] Stephen: the setting actually does. [1639.53] Stephen: What does it do? [1641.53] Stephen: Well, it compensates for the current. [1644.53] Jack: The meat potato popcorn setting isn't poor cooking popcorn. [1651.53] Stephen: It's like there's some kind of back rush of current [1656.53] Stephen: that occurs during DMAG accretization. [1660.53] Stephen: And I think it compensates for that current decay. [1665.53] Stephen: So there's current decay, which means that the voltage doesn't [1669.53] Stephen: drop the way you think it's going to, [1671.53] Stephen: because there's the current decay affecting it. [1674.53] Stephen: So you've got this kind of large. [1677.53] Stephen: What is current decay? [1680.53] Stephen: You've built up a joint in that field strength, [1683.53] Stephen: and then you turn off the voltage that goes in there. [1686.53] Jack: Elective motive force? [1688.53] Stephen: I could post you to a bit of documentation if you want. [1691.53] Stephen: It's not relevant. [1692.53] Stephen: The fact is, you have to kind of piece it together [1695.53] Stephen: from where BL Heli came from, because it doesn't actually [1698.53] Stephen: mean anything by itself, because DMAG compensation, [1701.53] Stephen: DMAG is just part of what every motorcycle does. [1704.53] Stephen: And to compensate for it is nonsensical. [1707.53] Stephen: It just means something in the bizarre history of BL Heli. [1710.53] Jack: What does the B in BL Heli stand for? [1712.53] Jack: I don't know. [1713.53] Frank: Brush? [1714.53] Frank: As in brushless? [1717.0] Frank: Heli? [1718.0] Frank: No? [1719.0] Stephen: But that could be brushless as well. [1721.0] Stephen: It doesn't mean anything. [1724.0] Stephen: Maybe there was A Heli, and then they were like, [1726.0] Stephen: no, A Heli is s***. [1728.0] Stephen: We're done with A Heli. [1729.0] Stephen: This is B Heli. [1733.0] Stephen: Yeah, we've already used A Heli. [1735.0] Stephen: They were like, B.J. Heli? [1737.0] Stephen: No, no, B.J. Heli sounds terrible. [1739.0] Stephen: B.K. Heli? [1741.0] Stephen: Not sure. [1742.0] Stephen: And we just got to BL Heli. [1743.0] Stephen: There you are. [1745.0] Frank: This episode was recorded in front of a live online audience [1748.0] Frank: downloaded and edited to make sense when it played audio only, [1752.0] Frank: censored to please the iTunes people, hosted on the internet, [1755.0] Frank: forwarded through to your podcast provider, [1757.0] Frank: downloaded, playing on your device, [1759.0] Frank: and is now playing in your ears. [1761.0] Frank: All thanks to our Patreons. [1763.0] Frank: Consider joining them, and you'll also get other online benefits. [1766.0] Frank: Find out more at patreon.com forward slash let's drone out. [1771.0] Frank: You were talking about random bugs in bits of firmware, [1775.0] Frank: and it just reminded me of a post in the DiviMath HD Zero group [1783.0] Frank: from Clive Galloway about a bug in a release of the firmware for the HD Zero goggles. [1794.0] Frank: So if you've got HD Zero goggles, [1796.0] Frank: be aware that in the latest stable version, 9.3.0, [1804.0] Frank: it can just decide to turn off, which is not ideal. [1811.0] Frank: You see that's the stable version. [1814.0] Frank: Yeah. [1816.0] Frank: But there's a fix, which is to turn the head tracking on. [1822.0] Frank: Oh. [1824.0] Stephen: So there's that. [1826.0] Stephen: Is that like a motion sensor that decides, [1828.0] Stephen: oh, you're not wearing the goggles anymore and switches them off or something? [1832.0] Frank: What he explains in the post is that he reckons that there's been spurious right clicks [1839.0] Frank: in just in all the firmware from something that he's still working on. [1847.0] Frank: But in the latest version, a double right click sends the goggles into sleep mode. [1853.0] Frank: And so occasionally, there will be a spurious double right click, [1858.0] Frank: and the goggles will go into sleep mode. [1860.0] Stephen: That's a stupid shortcut key to have. [1863.0] Frank: So that's not going to be there in the next version, I imagine. [1868.0] Frank: But if you put it into, if you enable head tracking, it won't do that. [1876.0] Stephen: Just a shout out to EBRFPV. [1880.0] Stephen: We've had a ton of reports that 32.9 has serious problems. [1885.0] Stephen: So you may have gotten lucky, and good for you if you're lucky, [1888.0] Stephen: but like 32.9 definitely has problems. [1892.0] Stephen: So be careful. [1896.0] Stephen: Is Jack going to send some beard trimmings to the Patreons by any chance? [1901.0] Stephen: Is that this month's giveaway? [1904.0] Jack: Back then he would have. [1908.0] Jack: That with the prick stick. [1910.0] Jack: It's DIY pubes. [1912.0] Tony: You've sent stuff to Australia. [1915.0] Tony: What have you sent to Australia? [1917.0] Tony: Pubes. [1918.0] Tony: Stuff and catnip and how anyone didn't get caught with it. [1923.0] Tony: A heady cocktail of pubes and catnip. [1927.0] Tony: I know. [1928.0] Tony: Happy days. [1930.0] Tony: That was a good old day. [1932.0] Jack: I was going to say, yeah, that would have really, [1935.0] Jack: because there's only a couple of differences between magic mint and salivia and catnip. [1943.0] Jack: I'm sure. [1945.0] Stephen: Because you had these human pheromones mixed in there. [1949.0] Stephen: How are they going to tell the difference? [1953.0] Jack: My only thing coming from me smells very wild and feral. [1958.0] Jack: Indeed. [1959.0] Jack: The beard's coming. [1960.0] Jack: Are you strong, son? [1962.0] Jack: No, I need to shave. [1964.0] Stephen: You've got like actually straight beard hair. [1967.0] Stephen: Mine just gets curlier and curlier the longer I... [1969.0] Stephen: Have you been straightening your beard with the little funny fine things? [1974.0] Stephen: You've got one of those beards that just goes, grows out in straight lines, [1978.0] Stephen: whereas mine just goes... [1981.0] Tony: Let's go to the barbers, Jack. [1984.0] Tony: Let's have a little trim up. [1985.0] Tony: I like you a bit. [1986.0] Tony: I just think you need to trim it a bit. [1988.0] Jack: Yeah. [1990.0] Jack: I will. [1992.0] Jack: I was thinking about... [1993.0] Stephen: A big clive vibe that you're getting now. [1996.0] Jack: Yeah. [1997.0] Jack: Well, you stick a funnel in your face and shave around it to get the big clive. [2003.0] Jack: No, you did the big clive. [2005.0] Tony: Do it. [2007.0] Jack: Just... [2008.0] Tony: Do it. [2009.0] Tony: I'll send you money if you do it. [2012.0] Jack: I was thinking about doing the whole like just shave one side. [2016.0] Tony: Just come on the podcast like that. [2019.0] Tony: Nice, Jack. [2021.0] Tony: Horrible, Jack. [2022.0] Stephen: Do it on the next bonus picture. [2024.0] Stephen: One side's got lipstick on and the other side's got a beard. [2027.0] Tony: Me, myself and Jack. [2029.0] Stephen: Could be half Janet, half Jack. [2032.0] Tony: Yep. [2033.0] Tony: Oh, yeah, Janet. [2034.0] Stephen: I miss Janet. [2035.0] Tony: I think you should bring her back. [2037.0] Tony: Bring her back with a beard. [2039.0] Jack: I can't remember what Janet sounds like. [2044.0] Frank: Let's go back over. [2045.0] Frank: Probably much like all of your characters on Curry, Kitten, Wednesdays. [2052.0] Frank: Are we doing this like the Rapping Friends stories? [2055.0] Stephen: Probably Monty Python in life. [2058.0] Stephen: Monty Python women impersonations, I'm guessing. [2062.0] Frank: Yeah, very much. [2063.0] Frank: He's not the Messiah. [2064.0] Frank: He's a very naughty boy. [2065.0] Frank: That voice. [2067.0] Frank: That is... [2071.0] Jack: It sounds even better when Frank says it. [2074.0] Jack: Matron. [2075.0] Jack: Come on, Frank. [2076.0] Jack: Give us a new matron. [2079.0] Tony: Oh, God. [2081.0] Frank: I think something more sensible that I was going to say. [2086.0] Frank: No, you don't. [2087.0] Jack: We'll see if it fails us. [2090.0] Jack: Sure. [2094.0] Frank: The magazine arrived today, but I haven't actually looked pretty good. [2098.0] Frank: I don't know. [2099.0] Frank: More and more has cut the dicey up. [2100.0] Stephen: I'm not even a member of mine arrived. [2102.0] Frank: I'm confused about that in there. [2105.0] Frank: It's their last one, you see. [2108.0] Frank: Or at least the last one that they're sending out to everyone. [2113.0] Frank: No, there was definitely something actually vaguely sensible I was going to say. [2118.0] Frank: Oh, that was it. [2119.0] Frank: I had to go the weekend at spot welding a battery pack. [2126.0] Frank: That's terrifying. [2129.0] Frank: But you're still here. [2130.0] Frank: That's going to bode well. [2132.0] Frank: Yeah, it's a bit more... [2135.0] Frank: There's more fire involved than I expected of something that we... [2139.0] Frank: How much fire were you expecting? [2141.0] Jack: That makes it sexually exciting. [2144.0] Frank: I was expecting either zero fire or the house burning down. [2150.0] Frank: And I got a vaguely pleasant amount of just sort of singeing. [2156.0] Frank: Ambient fire. [2157.0] Frank: Yeah. [2159.0] Stephen: So there's an amount of singeing. [2162.0] Stephen: Just a delicate flambé. [2164.0] Frank: Yeah, exactly. [2166.0] Frank: I did it on my dining table, which is sort of an old bit of pine. [2172.0] Frank: So that is sort of fresh... [2174.0] Stephen: I had to say, it's on ozone. [2176.0] Stephen: Just a little hint of ozone. [2180.0] Frank: Yeah. [2181.0] Frank: So I've gone back and read some instructions and I'll have another go this weekend. [2191.0] Jack: What are you building it for? [2193.0] Jack: The terminals first. [2196.0] Jack: Like a nine-volt battery. [2198.0] Frank: Oh yeah, like the marshmallows. [2200.0] Frank: I'm not trusting anything. [2203.0] Jack: Enormic terminals. [2205.0] Frank: This is a replacement field pack made out of old 18650s, I want to say. [2214.0] Jack: How much do you miss me right now? [2217.0] Jack: How much do you wish you could just go, [2219.0] Jack: hey Jack, have a go at this. [2222.0] Frank: Yeah, I was very much there. [2224.0] Frank: When everything just sort of erupted in a cloud of sparks, [2228.0] Frank: and it singed everything, I was just like, yeah. [2232.0] Frank: This is dangerously Jack territory. [2235.0] Frank: Yeah, Jack should be here for this. [2238.0] Frank: Everything straight back in the box. [2241.0] Frank: It came out of the box, made a load of sparks, went straight back in the box. [2247.0] Jack: It went back in the box or what? [2252.0] Jack: What's next? [2253.0] Jack: Can you show us? [2254.0] Jack: Have you got any photos of progress? [2257.0] Frank: No. [2259.0] Frank: I have done it anyway. [2264.0] Frank: No, I'm going to have another go this weekend. [2269.0] Frank: Now that I've actually watched some YouTube videos on it and not just gone, [2273.0] Frank: oh I know how this works. [2275.0] Frank: It turns out I don't. [2277.0] Stephen: I've got something for Tony here as well. [2280.0] Stephen: Oh God, no. [2281.0] Jack: We're definitely bringing them back to the old school. [2284.0] Jack: Who's been listening to f***ing episode one? [2288.0] Jack: I think this is Tony. [2291.0] Jack: Oh Jesus Christ. [2294.0] Stephen: This is from Robin in his gossip corner. [2298.0] Tony: That is brilliant. [2300.0] Jack: What is wrong with you? [2302.0] Stephen: The coastal wall. [2304.0] Tony: Is it impossible for a plane to fly around the ball upside down? [2308.0] Tony: Gravity. [2309.0] Tony: Oh for f*** sake Frank. [2312.0] Jack: Who? [2314.0] Jack: You started this ten years ago. [2318.6] Jack: No, you went, yeah, this will be funny. [2322.6] Jack: I think the Earth's flat. [2325.6] Jack: Just blown out on the f*** you. [2328.6] Jack: And then people just, they were like wild coyotes. [2332.6] Jack: They were just like. [2334.6] Jack: I mean it took three months. [2338.6] Jack: Three months for the f***ing hate mail. [2342.6] Jack: People would write me death threats being like, [2345.6] Jack: what the f*** is wrong with him? [2347.6] Jack: Does he think the Earth's flat? [2349.6] Jack: Someone punched me in the face. [2351.6] Jack: No, no. [2352.6] Stephen: We're not talking about thinking the Earth's flat here Jack. [2355.6] Stephen: What we're looking here, here is decisive proof from a pilot that the Earth is flat. [2362.6] Stephen: We're not just piloting with the rails. [2364.6] Jack: There's one of those oxygen masks falling down and got trapped around a f***ing neck and caught. [2370.6] Jack: I love the oxygen. [2372.6] Jack: As if not, I have something I want to master by faith. [2375.6] Tony: I like the ferments there as well. [2377.6] Tony: Even a must run and break it. [2379.6] Stephen: That's what keeps the water on, stuff that's falling off the edges, right? [2382.6] Tony: That's the water on the outside. [2384.6] Tony: It's come on boys. [2387.6] Tony: Water. [2389.6] Tony: There's water above us. [2391.6] Jack: Oh my God, that doesn't work. [2393.6] Jack: We're not made of fish. [2395.6] Jack: We're not Aquaman. [2396.6] Jack: We're not HPI guy. [2397.6] Jack: We're in a bull man. [2399.6] Stephen: It's a frisbee. [2401.6] Stephen: It's a frisbee mate. [2402.6] Stephen: I mean you know they're like flown up high and you look around and it's just, [2405.6] Stephen: you can see the horizon curving. [2407.6] Stephen: It's a frisbee. [2409.6] Stephen: It's a frisbee. [2410.6] Jack: Sorry Frank, carry on. [2412.6] Jack: Save us. [2413.6] Jack: Give us 10 minutes of workable material for your... [2416.6] Tony: Is there anything new? [2417.6] Tony: Anything being said about? [2419.6] Tony: Anything? [2420.6] Stephen: What's happened to the law this year? [2423.6] Stephen: Legislative Frank. [2424.6] Stephen: We call on the strength of legislative Frank. [2428.6] Tony: Are we allowed to fly anywhere this year in the UK? [2431.6] Tony: DJI apps change. [2433.6] Tony: So yeah, you can fly anywhere now. [2436.6] Frank: There's something about, I think they've launched a new data set of no-fly [2444.6] Frank: zones around prisons and juvenile detention centers and things like that. [2449.6] Frank: So on the NATS app and website and all that, there's been for quite a while [2457.6] Frank: the restrictions or the restricted flying zones around airports and things [2463.6] Frank: and they've updated that to include more places where you shouldn't fly. [2468.6] Frank: I think there's that that's been happening. [2472.6] Frank: There was the consultation. [2477.6] Frank: I don't think they've collated all that yet. [2480.6] Frank: I think they're sifting through the bags of poo that were set on fire. [2485.6] Stephen: Well, we'll know what's going to happen there. [2488.6] Stephen: It's going to be like 90% of people said it's a terrible idea. [2491.6] Stephen: So we're siding with the 10% of people who clearly voted. [2495.6] Tony: Jack's doing his own barbering while we speak. [2499.6] Stephen: Nice. [2500.6] Stephen: You're not able to do soldering. [2502.6] Stephen: Is this what happens when you can't solder during the show? [2506.6] Tony: The eggs turning back. [2507.6] Frank: It's personal grooming using the stream as a mirror. [2511.6] Stephen: Oh my God. [2514.6] Stephen: Much the same as before then, apart from prisons, [2517.6] Stephen: not like we were generally flying around prisons. [2520.6] Stephen: No. [2521.6] Frank: Same as before. [2522.6] Frank: Don't tell you much, Jack. [2525.6] Frank: What else? [2528.04] Frank: So there's Baird this weekend and we're hoping to have Matt Snell on next week. [2533.04] Frank: Lots of small cups, not a huge chunks, Jack. [2537.04] Frank: Talk to us about how that went. [2540.04] Frank: Also last night as of recording, [2544.04] Frank: there was the BDRA EGM about some updates to the rules [2550.04] Frank: before their new season starts in anger. [2555.04] Frank: Well, it's sort of already started, [2557.04] Frank: but before they have a load of events this year. [2561.04] Frank: Very angry. [2563.04] Frank: Judging by, you know, I've met races. [2567.04] Frank: I know what happens when you put them all in a room. [2570.04] Frank: They get very angry. [2572.04] Frank: It's like... [2578.39] Frank: But yeah, so we've got a third coming on week after next. [2584.39] Frank: Leave it and leave it back. [2586.39] Stephen: Tony won't love you if you cut that. [2588.39] Stephen: Oh my gosh. [2589.39] Tony: You could have left that bit and put a little leggy bear around it and groom it. [2593.39] Stephen: You just got past the Amish phase as well. [2596.39] Stephen: No, you're firmly in the barn raising territory, aren't you? [2600.39] Tony: I can't believe you're doing that on your own. [2603.39] Stephen: Well, Patreons, please donate so that we can buy Jack a barber. [2607.39] Tony: We need to leave. [2609.39] Tony: I'll bet he sends that to someone. [2611.39] Tony: Probably blood on him. [2613.39] Tony: Yeah, you tone. [2614.39] Tony: See? [2615.39] Tony: No, you're fine. [2616.39] Tony: Keep going. [2617.39] Tony: You're going for scruffy envelopes. [2618.39] Tony: Have you spoken about wings and wheels? [2620.39] Tony: Anything going on? [2621.39] Tony: Yeah. [2623.39] Frank: The sign-up for pilots to display at wings and wheels is closing this weekend. [2631.39] Frank: I'm total good authority. [2633.39] Frank: So anyone who did want to bring anything, you're better going to like quick. [2639.39] Frank: Yeah, I've got to do that. [2640.39] Stephen: Of course, you can still bring your five-watt FPV ground vehicles. [2644.39] Stephen: No one will complain. [2647.39] Stephen: It plays down. [2649.39] Frank: What Tony said. [2653.09] Stephen: Well, I think I lost signal for a second. [2656.09] Stephen: I'll just turn it up to 10 more. [2658.09] Stephen: Oh, that's better. [2659.09] Stephen: I can see. [2660.09] Tony: Well, just turn something on. [2662.09] Tony: I'm selling this product. [2663.09] Tony: It's an FPV product. [2665.09] Tony: You want to see how it works on X-Class? [2670.09] Jack: Yeah. [2671.09] Jack: What are you going to do about the whole X-Class and not being able to buy parts? [2679.09] Stephen: What should we not be able to buy parts? [2681.09] Stephen: Oh, the ESCs. [2684.09] Stephen: Oh, because they're going out of business. [2686.09] Stephen: Well, they're dropping the consumer stuff, aren't they? [2688.09] Stephen: Yeah. [2689.09] Stephen: I've got four. [2691.09] Tony: One goes wrong. [2693.09] Tony: I have none. [2695.09] Stephen: There was another. [2697.09] Stephen: There was someone else who was doing similar ESCs because I almost bought some. [2704.09] Stephen: They're like BL Heli 32, but big chunkers. [2707.09] Stephen: They got up to 200 amps. [2709.09] Tony: Oh, they should survive. [2711.09] Stephen: Yeah. [2712.09] Stephen: I'm trying to remember the name, but they're coming a bit cheaper than the Primo ones you had. [2719.09] Tony: I think might have a couple left, you know, spares. [2723.09] Stephen: Well, I mean, you can play that game if you want to. [2725.09] Stephen: You like to stick to the one build, but if anyone's looking to build X-Class, [2730.09] Stephen: there's a number of 12S and 14S ESCs that are out there right now that are not the aforementioned Aussie brand [2738.09] Stephen: that has decided to stop making commercial copy ESCs. [2744.09] Stephen: Now they just do business class stuff, basically. [2748.09] Tony: Is that why they're doing it? [2749.09] Tony: They're doing it for big? [2750.09] Stephen: Yeah, because they make much more money per unit APD. [2754.09] Stephen: They make a ton of money on the business stuff. [2757.09] Frank: I have fewer people emailing them with awkward questions. [2762.09] Frank: Exactly. [2763.09] Frank: People are like, they're still using PWM. [2765.09] Stephen: They don't care about performance. [2767.09] Stephen: They're just going along at a hover with like no sudden movements. [2771.09] Stephen: So it's an easy market to serve. [2774.09] Tony: You've done quite a good job there, Jack. [2777.09] Jack: I like my ESCs, like my health and safety lifting guides, [2783.09] Jack: liftings with violent jerky movements. [2789.09] Tony: We were joking that yours used to always be on fire. [2795.09] Jack: That's not you from steaming them. [2799.09] Jack: Fly color. That's it. [2801.09] Jack: Fly color. That's the one. [2804.09] Stephen: Fly color X cross HV. [2808.09] Stephen: I think they're up to the HV3 series of that, [2811.09] Stephen: and there's some big chunky ESCs that go up to what's the top? [2819.09] Stephen: They definitely do 120 amp one, but I think they go bigger than 120. [2823.09] Stephen: Oh, 160. Yeah. [2826.09] Stephen: Flyingtech.co.uk stocks them. [2830.09] Tony: Well, I don't know what I'm going to do about testing anything [2834.09] Tony: because I haven't rejoined my field because I only flew there once last year. [2841.09] Jack: Why don't you join just to hire the shepherd hut? [2847.09] Tony: Because that's about 300 quid for the weekend. [2852.09] Tony: I think I'm going to see if I can talk to the flying field and say, [2858.09] Tony: can we do like a daily fly where we can just put a fiver in your bank [2865.09] Tony: and fly there that day or whatever? [2868.09] Stephen: I don't know if they're going for that. [2871.09] Stephen: You just walked out in the morning and took a couple of 20s in their waistband [2875.09] Stephen: and walk off in their socks. [2880.09] Frank: Does Fossil still have a field? [2884.09] Frank: I'm just wondering whether maybe there's a case for a pre-show X-class shakedown. [2891.09] Tony: Yeah. I haven't spoke to Fossil for a little while. [2895.09] Tony: I'll have to speak to him and see if he's going to go to Wings and Wheels. [2898.09] Tony: I think he probably would. [2900.09] Tony: Are we all going? Are you guys going? I'm going to go for the weekend. [2903.09] Tony: I've just decided. I've decided today. [2906.09] Frank: I've put in my pilot form to fly my race wing. [2912.09] Tony: I've got to do that Saturday or tomorrow. [2915.09] Tony: Jack, are you going? [2917.09] Jack: I don't know. I'm going to keep it last minute. [2922.09] Tony: So you won't get a ticket. Nice one. [2926.09] Frank: It's a strategy. [2928.09] Frank: It's a middle between you and Andy RC, Jack. [2931.09] Tony: Andy's going to come, so it'd be nice to see him. [2935.09] Frank: Yeah, but Andy got restraining order. [2938.09] Frank: Four years. [2939.09] Frank: So you're banned. [2941.09] Tony: I think it's run out, isn't it? [2943.09] Tony: It was only for four years. [2945.09] Frank: Five years. [2946.09] Tony: Was it five years? [2948.09] Tony: You might be just on the cusp of being able to be in... [2952.09] Jack: I'm not violating. [2953.09] Tony: We could have you down one end of the runway and him up the other. [2956.09] Jack: Andy, look what you're going to get. [2958.09] Jack: It's one of those quibbles from Star Trek. [2960.09] Tony: I'm going to put a little bit of eyes on it and stuff. [2965.09] Tony: Oh, dear. [2967.09] Stephen: You've got to turn that into a flying vehicle tone. [2974.09] Tony: Don't send me that, you basket. [2978.09] Jack: Yep. I grew it especially for you. [2981.09] Jack: Thank you to all our lovely Patreons. [2985.09] Jack: If somehow you've managed to get through this episode, [2989.09] Jack: I'm very impressed. [2992.09] Jack: Massive effort to Frank. [2996.09] Jack: I'm trying to ride this show. [3001.09] Jack: It was like a greased pig. [3006.09] Jack: Massive thank you to all our lovely Patreons. [3010.09] Tony: He's trying to wrangle it. [3014.09] Tony: You can't carry on. Just turn it off. [3019.09] Tony: Just turn it off, Jack. [3021.09] Tony: Just turn it off and turn it off. [3025.09] Stephen: Right, alright now. [3031.09] Jack: Massive thank you to all the wonderful Patreons. [3034.09] Jack: You have been joined by our Lord and Master Andrew slash Frank. [3039.09] Jack: Bye. [3041.09] Jack: The man with the moustache, Steven. [3044.09] Stephen: Thank you for watching our greased pig. [3049.09] Jack: My darling wife, Tony. [3051.09] Jack: Ex-wife, bitch. [3053.09] Jack: No. [3055.09] Jack: Makers are in the post. [3057.09] Jack: And I've been bright until I fly. [3060.09] Jack: Thank you very much. Good night. [3062.09] Tony: Bye. [3064.09] Jack: Tally ho. [3066.09] Tony: Telemetry lost.
