[174.86] Stephen: Cerberus how has your trailer building been going? I think last we saw it had started to near completion
[182.22] Cerb: Well, it took a it took a left turn
[195.58] Cerb: Yeah, I had to check all my tools and stuff in it because I needed somewhere to put so as soon as it was a dry sealed

[206.54] Cerb: Like the equivalent of any flat surface is instantly covered in stuff
[210.54] Cerb: So as soon as it was dried in I believe is is the phrase
[215.1] Cerb: it became a workshop and it's got like a toolboxes and my workbench in there and
[220.74] Cerb: I've started doing stuff for the campervan build from the race trailer using it as a workshop
[227.06] Cerb: So at some point that has to then pivot back to insulating the trailer and getting that ready
[232.78] Cerb: But it's a rolling thing. I could attach it to a car and drag it places
[238.98] Cerb: It's really the definition of what a trailer is, right?

[248.42] Stephen: It doesn't have a screen and things in yet that it is usable in a kind of ad hoc race facility. Yes

[296.9] Cerb: So I actually have the diesel heater on in the trailer and it was like I was out there the other night
[302.14] Cerb: It was like 20 degrees in the trailer and I was like quite happy
[306.7] Cerb: Pottering around doing stuff. It was great. There's lots of there's lots of pottering going on which is always good

[315.06] Cerb: Yeah, I have to have the door open because I don't want to cut a hole in the side for the exhaust
[324.06] Stephen: We also doing race broadcasting was was that your jam as well trying to remember what we were talking about last time
[331.26] Stephen: Doing like a 4g was it was it the did you have the satellite?
[336.74] Cerb: Race broadcasting. Yeah, so that it along with
[341.54] Cerb: Somehow being talked into being the chairman of the BDRA this year

[348.54] Cerb: FPV racing solutions is still my you know, my thing that I started
[352.42] Cerb: So I could concentrate on doing race directing and stuff like that
[355.78] Cerb: So yeah, the guys all got bored by me last week talking about bird
[362.5] Cerb: The Birmingham International race days which FPV racing solutions race directed and and
[368.86] Cerb: Streamed which was amazing fun. So yeah, I'll be doing I'll probably be doing some race directing and streaming with the BDRA this year
[376.7] Cerb: I'm hoping not to get too tied down inside stuff. I'm hoping to delegate
[382.5] Cerb: If I'm told that's that's what you're supposed to do I'm very
[386.82] Cerb: Very used to just like FPV racing solutions doing my own thing and cracking on, you know
[393.58] Stephen: Can we say that FPV racing solutions are the UK's premier race directing and broadcasting system?
[399.54] Cerb: I mean, I couldn't say that but you said
[403.42] Stephen: Well in terms of drone racing we could say that FPV racing solutions are the UK's premier race directing and FPV race
[411.18] Stephen: Broadcasting we can carry on adding qualifications
[413.94] Frank: But clearly your your reputation that you've built up from building the the very successful killer quads community and
[429.18] Frank: then the FPV racing solutions

[436.54] Frank: Set of events things from that has obviously been recognized because you've been
[441.86] Frank: Elected now as the chairman of the BDRA the British drone racing association
[447.58] Frank: There was there was an actual vote and everything
[450.58] Frank: Yeah, it's like official
[453.18] Stephen: Democratic and all of those things a real democratic process. You weren't just the last person to step backwards when they asked
[460.46] Cerb: We even had
[462.5] Cerb: People someone stood against me. So Wycliffe
[465.58] Cerb: Trues happens in ring as well, which was brilliant. Oh
[468.74] Cerb: Yeah, and I I had no intentions whatsoever of becoming the chairman of the BDRA
[476.98] Cerb: Haven't crossed my life my mind and the the the
[482.94] Cerb: Committee as was we're doing a fantastic job

[487.34] Cerb: Got to the end of his tenure. He was like, yeah done it for lots of years time for someone else and Jamie as well
[495.38] Cerb: Has a young young child now, so he's like well, you know
[498.74] Cerb: I want to concentrate on this in my life. So those guys went off to their next things
[502.98] Cerb: And the guys on the committee that was was staying kind of called me up at the 11th hour
[508.9] Cerb: and said
[510.74] Cerb: We're not quite sure why you haven't applied for a committee post this year
[515.34] Cerb: because because I
[516.98] Cerb: 12 months ago I was on the committee and I did 12 months and that was kind of me that was you know
[521.9] Cerb: I experienced it. It was great
[524.58] Cerb: Job done. I've gone. I've gone off and done my own thing
[528.86] Cerb: You know, it's like, you know
[531.14] Cerb: I'd maybe like, you know, if there was an upgrade involved like if I was coming back as chairman or something then
[539.78] Cerb: And I said, yeah, that's a good idea
[548.7] Stephen: Not don't want to kind of
[551.06] Stephen: Point fingers anyone who's been involved so far, but what are you looking to work on this year?
[556.22] Stephen: What are you looking to kind of bring to it?
[558.9] Cerb: Well kind of lots and nothing is a weird thing to say
[562.3] Cerb: I know but you too much change would be disruptive and bad, but there are also I think things we can improve things we can change
[571.78] Cerb: So we can we can do more with what we've already got I think is like my main focus this year
[578.3] Cerb: So that the first thing was tweak the rules
[581.02] Cerb: At the AGM after the championships
[583.94] Cerb: In Buckminster last year. There's a lot of really good discussion. The AGM was great
[589.74] Cerb: Loads of voices loads of people with ideas
[592.06] Cerb: So we we put those voices together into a little working groups that I had a forum
[597.34] Cerb: and I went off and canvassed a lot of other opinions and
[601.46] Cerb: Obviously, I've got a lot of experience from doing the five race series that I did with killer quads
[607.18] Cerb: Um stuff that I did. I ran races down south in where the week prices I've been running
[613.7] Cerb: Wing stuff x-car stuff whoop stuff. Yeah, so I've I've got plenty of voices in my ears, right?
[620.3] Cerb: so so we've added all that together and tried to come up with a new rule set and
[625.06] Cerb: We're not quite there yet. Actually with that. Um, we thought we were
[629.3] Cerb: But there were some there was some feedback to go. Well, hold on
[632.82] Cerb: What does that quite work and does this quite work and we're like, well, okay, let's let's
[638.66] Cerb: Spool back one step make sure we get it. Absolutely right and we'll put them out. So hopefully
[645.46] Cerb: It's difficult to please everybody and not everybody will be pleased
[649.46] Cerb: But we'll we'll try and get
[651.54] Cerb: This year's rule set to be a really good representation for everyone for for the top guys the middle guys the the slower guys
[659.62] Cerb: so people can come and
[661.86] Cerb: You know a british qualifying event will still have that q-dos
[665.46] Cerb: But also, you know, the top guys will get what they need from it in terms of going to the faa
[670.82] Cerb: fai, sorry and career and stuff like that, but also the slower guys will learn the ropes have an enjoyable day
[679.06] Cerb: Try it try and make it so people aren't going home and going well, that was rubbish. Why would I do that again?
[686.66] Stephen: Communitizing the community
[689.06] Cerb: Want everybody to have a really good time

[693.78] Frank: Well for anyone who who doesn't know maybe we should go sort of through
[698.9] Frank: What the bdra is at the moment and what it has been for the past
[703.86] Frank: Uh, almost 10 years in one form or another
[708.5] Cerb: Um, it's been through many many different
[711.3] Cerb: Um, it's been through a couple of names
[713.46] Cerb: It's been through lots of really excellent committees and and people getting stuck in and it's always volunteers
[720.42] Cerb: Um, you know, it's it's not uh for financial gain. It's for the love of the hobby
[725.46] Cerb: Um and and sending people away with smiles on their faces and you know
[730.34] Cerb: all that good stuff, um
[732.58] Cerb: the
[734.42] Cerb: current committee is
[736.82] Cerb: myself
[738.74] Cerb: Dastardly as now let's get these guys in the right order
[743.3] Cerb: He's uh, dastardly's finance this year. He was no dastardly's secretary this year

[757.22] Cerb: Membership no, not membership. No, he's financing out yet. He moved across
[762.02] Cerb: And uh, harry haggis calum, uh is our membership secretary and then we've got eric. He's still with us. Um, everybody knows

[772.1] Cerb: He's our bmfa and fai liaison
[776.9] Cerb: Um, and we we currently don't have the technical and safety seat filled
[781.54] Cerb: Um, so if anybody's going to slow you down
[786.26] Cerb: Interested in technically being safe
[789.38] Cerb: It's the best sort of safety. Yeah, so we've got
[793.14] Cerb: There's a hat at least one hat in the ring for that. Um, which we we will look
[798.26] Cerb: For bringing on board in in the next few months as we settle down
[801.46] Cerb: Like I say not too much change too quickly because I think that's quite disruptive
[806.66] Cerb: Um, and also try not to be too top heavy. I think the the working group thing was a good idea
[812.1] Cerb: um, and that keys into
[814.42] Cerb: Like next things to do like get all of the race organizers together because the bda
[820.98] Cerb: um
[821.94] Cerb: I think has has been a little bit stuck a little bit insular almost
[826.66] Cerb: Um, the committee have been really brilliant
[829.3] Cerb: And they've organized the championships and they've overseen the uk drone racing scene and and managed
[836.26] Cerb: Um the the league tables and the rules and the championship event and done a fantastic job
[842.18] Cerb: And I think the next step to that
[844.58] Cerb: Is a bit more outreach and a bit more bringing those race directors in and saying what can we do for you?
[850.34] Cerb: How can we how can we get how can we get more race directors? How can we train people to race direct?
[856.42] Cerb: You know make people not only make people feel comfortable that they can come and fly drones in a race
[861.86] Cerb: Because a lot of people like I can't do that. I'm not quick enough. You are come and have a go, but also
[867.38] Cerb: People that want to sit there and and run a race which is entertaining on its own. I enjoy it
[873.06] Cerb: Um, you know, how do we get those people on board and get them up and running?
[877.78] Stephen: And how do you just get people talking about
[880.08] Frank: FBV racing in general. Yeah. Yeah, because that's that's really where
[885.46] Frank: The the organization came out from right was it was born out of the very early days of drone racing and different event organizers
[893.7] Frank: Each trying to teach their local community of drone potential drone races how to attend the drone race and and
[901.46] Frank: And they all had slightly different formats
[904.02] Frank: So then if anyone went to a different event organizer
[907.38] Frank: They they'd sort of got different habits and it wasn't really very smooth
[911.7] Frank: So the this organization the what is now the bdra was all about trying to get everyone's standardized on some fairly standard
[920.0] Frank: terminology and
[921.54] Frank: Formats and things like that
[923.22] Frank: So if you go to one event and you learn how to go to that event
[926.9] Frank: Erase it there and have a good time you can go to another event and you'll get the same sort of experience
[931.54] Frank: And you won't have to relearn everything
[933.54] Frank: Yeah, um, and I think it's done a really good job of that
[936.5] Cerb: Yeah consistency across the rule set of a british qualifier is is a british qualifier as a british qualifier
[943.06] Cerb: But with the the local flavor of the group that are running it
[946.98] Cerb: And the quality of british qualifiers is is really high
[950.82] Cerb: and that's thanks to all the clubs that that put the effort in and also the
[956.5] Cerb: You know the bdra those guys, you know, trying to organize it and liaise with everybody
[961.38] Cerb: And provide those resources. Um, we work with ifpv
[965.46] Cerb: Uh to make sure there's a place to to post your events that the championship table is hosted on ifpv
[971.3] Cerb: So as a governing body, we don't host that which I think is the best way to do it
[976.98] Cerb: It's not on our website
[979.38] Cerb: Um, you know, so we've got that that separation there, which I think is a really good thing
[984.34] Cerb: Um, we we dictate the rule set and the scoring system and the points, but it's then managed by uh druid
[992.1] Cerb: Who who runs and owns ifpv?
[994.5] Cerb: Um, so that's a fantastic partnership and that's been there for years and years, isn't it?
[998.58] Cerb: Um, and that evolves every year and druid adds features for us
[1002.98] Cerb: But but those features can also benefit, you know, everybody else
[1007.54] Cerb: You know the the whoop guys the wing guys the x-class guys, how how can we as bdra?
[1013.38] Cerb: Help those guys to get to those resources
[1016.98] Cerb: So that's something we want to do as well this year is um, I I don't want to invent woopracing it's been done
[1025.14] Cerb: So so let's find the guys that are doing woopracing and
[1029.3] Cerb: Put our armor around their shoulder put our umbrella over the top of them and say, okay
[1033.62] Cerb: How can we help? How can we take your rules and and fold them into ours?
[1037.62] Cerb: And you know, we have the mandate to crown the uk champion
[1042.42] Cerb: So tell us how you want to do that. We'll make it happen for you
[1046.42] Cerb: Um, so i've had loads of great conversations with the whoop guys the x-class guys
[1051.7] Cerb: um the wing guys all in various stages of um
[1056.34] Cerb: Signing up to that and figuring out what it will look like
[1059.14] Cerb: um
[1060.18] Cerb: But that I think that's really important. It's all about again outreach that seems we'll see joint events where you
[1067.06] Stephen: You're doing quads and and whoops on the same day
[1070.74] Stephen: Possibly
[1073.78] Cerb: I think for a british qualifier for
[1076.34] Cerb: Like a five-inch drone race. It might be difficult because it's just all go all day to get the qualifying rounds and final rounds
[1083.86] Cerb: But we do have the opportunity this year at blades over buckminster
[1087.94] Cerb: um, which is a big weekend long event
[1090.58] Cerb: and
[1091.86] Cerb: Do you know what?
[1093.38] Cerb: I'm kind of of the opinion and and the committee
[1096.26] Cerb: um
[1097.14] Cerb: Much the same that is there room in the calendar for another weekend at buckminster of just five-inch flight?

[1107.62] Cerb: Shall we do something else with it?
[1108.9] Cerb: I think that's what we're going to do is we'll have a bit of five-inch racing
[1112.98] Cerb: But also let's get the hanger and do some whoop stuff in the evening
[1116.66] Cerb: Let's get the wing guys there and throw up some wings
[1119.7] Cerb: We could even just dedicate a couple of hours to wing chasing just for fun
[1124.02] Stephen: If only you had a site that had like a metal walled barn on it or something where you could just put the width guys inside
[1130.18] Cerb: And have them racing around in there without the signal escaping. Yeah. Well, i'm i'm hoping I can stick them in the in the metal hanger

[1141.86] Cerb: So yeah, just instead of like a weekend of racing. Let's have a weekend of fpv fun. Let's get everybody there

[1150.26] Cerb: For freestyle, it's a bit of an empty field. So i'm not sure but for you know, chase the next class chase the wing
[1158.74] Cerb: Chase a whoop. No, you might chop it up

[1164.98] Cerb: But um, yeah, if if we can get everybody together, um, you know
[1170.58] Cerb: Manage it well enough

[1174.42] Cerb: Time slots for people and and people in the right places at the right times
[1178.5] Cerb: I don't think it has to be just a hardcore race weekend. I think it can be a festival of fpv
[1183.94] Cerb: I think it could be a huge one
[1186.1] Cerb: A bit ambitious when we pull it off

[1190.66] Cerb: I'll give it a crack
[1191.78] Stephen: It makes every community at that little bit bigger and healthier at the end of the weekend, right? Everyone's maybe
[1198.26] Stephen: Taking up a new race discipline. So you walk away from it
[1201.14] Stephen: There's more people than maybe a couple of whoop pilots try five inch. Maybe some of the five-inch pilots try whoop
[1206.58] Stephen: Maybe some people pick up a wing where they didn't before and so on
[1210.18] Cerb: So I think for for bob blades over buckminster this year, we'll we'll throw it at the wall and see what sticks
[1215.78] Cerb: I think it'll be fun

[1225.94] Stephen: I think there's going to be increasing regulation over the next few years
[1228.74] Stephen: So like up in the ante now and going out and creating positive images and getting people involved
[1234.98] Stephen: Being enthusiastic about it will mean
[1237.62] Stephen: That these sports can survive the kind of imminent shakiness that we're going to get from regulation over the next few years
[1244.82] Cerb: And I can see in the chat, uh a certain welshman giving the thumbs up from the wings crowd. So

[1255.46] Frank: Always encouraging. Yeah, so
[1257.54] Frank: Uh, so buckminster is the the BMFA national center
[1261.22] Frank: So there's obviously a lot of collaboration there and increasingly collaboration. I think between the bdra and the BMFA
[1269.78] Frank: um, so there's obviously the bdra are doing the the rule set for the british qualifying events which then
[1277.7] Frank: uh gets people the points on the on the ifpv to
[1282.1] Frank: uh, sort of leaderboard to then get invited to the the championship event
[1287.62] Frank: and then
[1288.98] Frank: uh, is is that how
[1291.86] Frank: Because the BMFA worked with the bdra last year to to send pilots out to
[1297.46] Frank: the fai international event
[1300.42] Frank: Is is that still kind of working together? Is that using the the championship for the bqes or or what's what's the story there now?
[1308.98] Cerb: Yeah, a hundred percent. So that was really fabulous. Um, and
[1313.38] Cerb: Again hats off to the to the outgoing committee for that
[1316.5] Cerb: Um for for getting all of that geared up and it they've been working towards it for a while
[1322.9] Cerb: And we we took the the top three quickest guys
[1327.22] Cerb: Um from our uk championships, so positions one two three
[1330.9] Cerb: Um were our team
[1332.66] Cerb: um, and then looked after
[1334.82] Cerb: Uh by the BMFA who who also kicked in financially to help us
[1339.86] Cerb: um, we also relied quite a lot on our sponsors because
[1343.86] Cerb: sending three pilots
[1345.7] Cerb: And and their handlers the one otherwise known as their dads. Um
[1350.34] Cerb: and our our team uh manager
[1353.46] Cerb: All you know on a plane out to career and all that stuff was you know, that was a lot to sort out

[1391.3] Cerb: Um, you know and we're we're that's another thing we're doing this year is trying to create more trophies more more things to win
[1398.9] Cerb: Um, so we we want to we want to crown the fastest female this year
[1402.9] Cerb: We want to crown the fastest novice and the fastest junior
[1407.22] Cerb: We we last year crowned the fastest veteran which worked really well
[1411.94] Cerb: So so let's grow that
[1414.18] Cerb: Um, and it does mean that there's a there's a big gala dinner the bmfa hold
[1420.74] Cerb: The more trophies you have the more bums around the the table you get
[1424.82] Cerb: um, and and the bigger the um, the bigger the the fun at the bar afterwards, so
[1430.58] Cerb: You know more trophies more better
[1434.98] Frank: So, how do you think you're gonna
[1437.54] Frank: sort of engage
[1438.9] Frank: All those pilots and try and grow the sort of pilot side of it and get more pilots involved
[1444.1] Frank: Uh, I mean you've been doing you've been doing more on instagram. I know that um, and you've set up the the discord as well
[1450.66] Frank: the bdra discord, so there's sort of uh, some more avenue for communication, but uh
[1457.06] Frank: Do you have any other sort of plans kicking around for how you can get all you know
[1462.1] Frank: Some other pilots who maybe haven't raced competitively but fly a lot or any of them sort of how to get them more involved
[1469.62] Cerb: Yeah, we do and i've i've got to give a big up to uh, dan stephens
[1474.66] Cerb: Pilot handle xo xo who is from where fpv. Um, he has stepped in as our social media secretary
[1482.74] Cerb: Um, so the minute we've we've set him on the instagram like just
[1487.54] Cerb: focus on the instagram and start ramping that up and as you've noticed ramping up really nicely and
[1494.26] Cerb: It's difficult in a minute because it's the off season, right? It's like there's much content out there
[1499.14] Frank: So what do you say that but there's been the the sgdc like very glowy event
[1504.5] Frank: Which was great fun to watch like particularly as they launch off the the star and it's quite dark
[1510.5] Frank: And you can see the leds and all the quads in front and you can see all the gates all very brightly lit up
[1515.7] Frank: Um with your your bird event as well with all the again lots of leds makes for great images
[1522.18] Cerb: It's been leds are plenty zone bar this year. But yeah, like with with limited events going on
[1528.26] Cerb: It's cold and it's dark dan's doing a fab job
[1531.7] Cerb: You know getting content out there
[1533.38] Cerb: But if you've got content if you've got stuff tag us in it tag us on the instagram
[1538.26] Cerb: Um send us stuff if you want to send us stuff

[1612.78] Frank: uh perched on all your your streams is that the the focus needs to be on the

[1624.14] Frank: You to coin your to use your phrase that you've coined to to make it
[1628.22] Frank: uh, you know wife friendly like
[1630.86] Frank: it's like that's
[1632.3] Frank: Um to to engage the public to have some kind of human interest side of things is is quite important

[1640.3] Frank: It sounds like sort of that's gonna help
[1643.1] Frank: You know get some more pilots involved in the racing but also like you've been saying for a long time
[1649.5] Frank: to to to get more spectators and
[1652.62] Frank: You know get people watching and following the racing as well. Yeah, it's it's a really exciting sport
[1658.38] Cerb: it's a really like the feeling of racing is amazing you just you feel like a
[1664.86] Cerb: robotic eagle like it's you know hitting the gates and making the turns it's great but
[1670.54] Cerb: To try and translate that to people watching
[1673.42] Cerb: We've always done a fantastic job of putting the fpv feeds up
[1677.74] Cerb: And the the timing comes along with it and if you're into your drone racing you can watch it and you can understand
[1684.46] Cerb: But yeah to to pass the wife test
[1688.38] Cerb: To make it um
[1691.1] Cerb: So the wife test is you can sit and watch it on your laptop on your own. That's fine
[1696.06] Cerb: Can you put it on the telly in the living room?
[1698.94] Stephen: The big screen sports rely a lot on replays like if you're watching football
[1703.66] Stephen: It's not just the game because a large amount of time people are standing around and nothing's really happening
[1708.86] Stephen: Um, but it's the punditry and it's having a constant stream of zoomed in replays, right?
[1716.3] Cerb: Yeah, so without the without putting my fpv racing solutions hat on
[1724.14] Cerb: You know we're trying to push that kind of
[1726.46] Cerb: Pilot photos and avatars so you get used to them interview the pilots
[1730.78] Cerb: Which they did a great job of at the championships last year and we'll carry that on and if you watch bird we we've put
[1737.58] Cerb: More static cameras out on the track
[1739.66] Cerb: So in it's not all just for blurry feeds all the time
[1743.74] Cerb: You get some track cameras and see the drones going past so you get a good sense of the speed
[1749.34] Cerb: Um and and getting the chat going getting those guys involved
[1753.42] Cerb: Um, yeah, all those bits all that interplay of
[1756.94] Cerb: Instead of just seeing a drone doing fabulous things on an fpv feed
[1761.66] Cerb: I know who that is. I can picture the pilot behind
[1765.18] Cerb: Um and people can start following and cheering on
[1768.3] Cerb: Um, I know and also tell those stories when someone has a massive crash
[1771.98] Cerb: Bring the remains up and show it to the camera and and chat with the you know
[1775.66] Cerb: Because it's exciting and I want to get that excitement and fun that we're having at the race
[1781.26] Cerb: onto the screen because if if it's on the screen
[1784.7] Cerb: And people watch it and think that looks jolly good fun
[1788.14] Cerb: Let's go and have a crack at that
[1790.22] Frank: So i'm i'm guessing that you're gonna
[1792.94] Frank: then hopefully sort of use the the bdra platform to then keep that momentum going between the events and so
[1800.68] Frank: Spectators might only go to their local event, but maybe
[1804.14] Frank: They can follow through all the bdra feeds that are this this person has been getting up the ranks and like
[1811.02] Frank: That like they really need this next event
[1813.82] Frank: to be able to to get onto a podium finish and so you can kind of build the tension and build the stories and
[1819.42] Frank: Carry on that through because you know, it's all well and good sort of sitting down one saturday. I'm watching it and and
[1825.5] Frank: Seeing some of the drama unfold but to to see it over the entire season would really sort of build that out. I think

[1836.22] Cerb: Everybody streams the races on their youtube and I think that's great. Like sgdc have got their youtube channel

[1848.94] Cerb: But I think what what would be brilliant if we could do would be to get some of that and again
[1853.58] Cerb: It's about if we're going to try and push the socials. We need the community's help

[1864.3] Cerb: We put some stuff on the bdra youtube channel and say, you know, this happened and

[1874.62] Cerb: Night hawk managed to get past him and tell the story of it a little bit

[1952.41] Cerb: So many pilots that there's a local race every weekend that's full

[1962.09] Cerb: a pool of probably 150 or so pilots

[1967.69] Cerb: 30 of them at any one time traveling up and down the uk to the for the british qualifying events
[1974.09] Cerb: Which is great, but we want to see more local events and and more
[1979.13] Cerb: Grassroots, and I think it's out there
[1981.53] Cerb: I think everybody's doing it
[1984.25] Cerb: Um, but we need to bring them all together
[1986.41] Cerb: So they're using the discord to get all the the separate
[1990.17] Cerb: Club representatives like race organizers get them together
[1994.41] Cerb: Um simple things like I found last year when I did the five race series
[1998.81] Cerb: Um, another one of my stupid catchphrases was i'm i'm playing calendar battleships

[2027.13] Cerb: Race directors going and helping other race directors. Yeah, yeah, the way pilots flying x-clos

[2036.33] Stephen: Seriously in terms of getting some of the participants from the sidelines on I wonder if
[2041.13] Stephen: There's kind of a path actually to um, maybe
[2044.41] Stephen: Get people into a whoop tent if there was a five inch event
[2047.21] Stephen: And picking up a five inch and trying to go hell for leather for a bunch of gates that can cause, you know
[2052.57] Stephen: real kinetic damage is a little bit

[2057.93] Stephen: People might be happy to puddle off to a little
[2060.81] Stephen: A bar on the other side of the field and have a go with a whoop and think oh, this is
[2065.29] Stephen: This is like, you know that the formula progression right up with the uh, the little go-karts and then working up to the big guys
[2072.81] Cerb: It's it's changing a perception a little bit and if we can use that to do that, that would be great

[2084.41] Cerb: Because I spent the first event thinking I have no business being here. I have no right to be

[2297.47] Cerb: Event vrx's which carl zoo was very kind to to do us a fantastic deal on so we own

[2327.07] Cerb: And you know the simplest form of racing is when the pilot crosses a start line, they shout their lap number

[2338.35] Cerb: Get some stuff to fly around even if it's only trees even if it's like pop up football goals with the nets cut out

[2352.67] Cerb: Have to have all the technology, but we've got the technology and we've got the know-how

[2359.87] Cerb: Over the next few months is put some of that down on paper and on video and say right
[2365.71] Cerb: Well, this is live time. This is the lifetime timing software. This is how you set it up. This is how you use it

[2403.71] Frank: Yeah, but yeah because uh, so lifetime kind of the common timing software that people use with the lap rf

[2423.47] Frank: And then tried to work out how to connect it to live time

[2434.59] Frank: I I think you know if you're putting together some basic tutorials on how to get started with running that I think you'd be

[2447.63] Cerb: Richard in the chats to saying you can build your own lap time and you can't roto hazard lap time and you can go and

[2455.15] Cerb: Um, if you want to run a british qualifier, it's really live time
[2459.47] Cerb: Because that runs our rule set properly. Um, there are also
[2464.19] Cerb: Um some changes to our rule set that we want to sort out that lifetime can't quite do at the moment
[2470.03] Cerb: Um, so they've been brilliant i've actually been having emails backwards and forwards with the owner of lifetime
[2476.43] Cerb: Um talking about changes that they're looking at trying to make for us in lifetime
[2482.11] Cerb: To support the bdra and the uk community. So that that's amazing. I know I know the rotor hazard guys as well

[2491.47] Cerb: So yeah, there are there are lots of options. There are lots of ways of doing it

[2708.11] Frank: They're not really going to be able to follow along with anything

[2712.67] Frank: What would people be able to follow along with like is it is there a lot of analog a lot of digital?
[2718.75] Cerb: What's what's the split there? I think the split is probably about 75 to 25 with hd0 in the lead
[2727.95] Cerb: Um, hd0 has been fantastic for for racing
[2732.75] Cerb: uh because of the the lack of latency so
[2737.23] Cerb: Dj is lovely, but um
[2739.71] Cerb: You can't get a solid static latency from it
[2744.35] Cerb: which for racing as soon as you start getting quick is
[2748.43] Cerb: impossible to fly with
[2750.03] Cerb: Um, because if your latency changes, I mean some of these top guys when you watch their watch their fpv feed
[2755.95] Cerb: They don't even see the gate
[2758.67] Cerb: No, they're they're learning the line and you can't you can't race
[2764.11] Cerb: Um effectively with dji you also can't really
[2768.27] Cerb: Livestream it you kind of can but it it's very messy
[2772.67] Cerb: Um, and the hd0 just kicks it out of park to be honest because you you get the hd goodness
[2779.39] Cerb: with
[2780.99] Cerb: Latency that's absolutely mind-blowing. Um, in fact, it's kept me in the hobby. I was going to quit
[2786.91] Cerb: Um, but the hd0 has given me just the little edge that I needed
[2792.59] Cerb: To keep me flying
[2794.19] Cerb: Because I I don't feel like i'm hanging onto the tail coat of the drone anymore. I feel like i'm flying the drone now
[2801.39] Cerb: Um, so yeah, it's mostly hd0 but good old analog
[2805.71] Cerb: um at at 25
[2809.15] Cerb: Bingham of bobs
[2810.51] Cerb: Uh on a on a on a local track
[2813.55] Cerb: Your picture is absolutely flyable. Absolutely racable

[2818.91] Cerb: Yeah, the the difficulty for a spectator is if you turn up with your hd0 goggles you're able to watch

[2826.51] Cerb: If you turn up with your analog 25, but if it if it is a bqe there'll be a screen somewhere
[2832.27] Cerb: With with all of the pilot feeds on it
[2834.75] Cerb: So you you can stand and watch that if you want to you can
[2838.03] Cerb: Um stand to the sidelines and watch the quads flying
[2841.79] Cerb: Um, and if you're unlucky and you come to a race i'm doing you'll hear me prattling on as well
[2850.17] Frank: And uh, I mean
[2852.57] Frank: just for completeness
[2854.89] Frank: Walk snail is taking off a lot in terms of like the fixed wing and freestyle and just sort of outside of the racing scene
[2861.61] Frank: uh, I mean
[2864.09] Frank: I've I've I haven't really heard much in terms of like
[2869.13] Frank: But I mean they've got supposedly a race mode
[2873.21] Stephen: Is that enough?
[2875.21] Stephen: Tweak the channel frequencies to be more in line and I think um
[2880.65] Stephen: Tried to tighten things up and basically limit the output power. So it was a constant output power
[2886.33] Stephen: Yeah, the hardware looks good enough. I mean it's in line with what hd0 does for some of the woop boards, which are
[2893.21] Stephen: If you're doing kind of a woop all-in-one style race, so they're quite easy to work with
[2898.73] Stephen: In terms of the 20 by 20 boards, there may be a wee bit heavier than the hd0 stuff
[2903.37] Stephen: But i've had good luck using the woop boards off of a five-volt back on the flight controller
[2909.45] Cerb: And actually different
[2912.25] Stephen: So I did my little uh a search the fpv racing cert with walk snail actually. So
[2919.45] Stephen: It was usable
[2922.49] Cerb: If anybody wants to do that a cert come to an event that uh myself or
[2927.05] Cerb: Like a couple of the other committee guys have done their their examiner
[2930.33] Cerb: Um, so I can examine you an a cert if you if you would like to be
[2934.25] Cerb: uh a certified
[2936.97] Cerb: In terms of walk snail our our rule set doesn't explicitly exclude
[2942.55] Cerb: Dji or walk snail
[2944.65] Cerb: But the way the rules are written means that dj and walk snail wouldn't be compatible. Um, so you couldn't use it as it stands
[2952.33] Stephen: Um, which bits the rules are the ones that are problematic

[3192.79] Frank: Go and fly around the track. You won't you won't score points towards the championships, but you can put some laps in

[3201.91] Cerb: That sort of thing is good. If the race organizer can fit some of that in then absolutely brilliant
[3206.71] Cerb: And um, there there are lots of guys that are moving from analog to
[3210.95] Cerb: Uh hd0. So keep your eye on you know, the marketplaces on facebook and stuff like that
[3216.87] Cerb: Um, you know, there are cheap ways to pick up analog gear nowadays a the camera vtx, you know
[3222.87] Cerb: A set of box goggles screw it, you know, throw it up there and and race
