Massive thank you to... [14.0] Jack: Carlos Campos [16.0] Jack: Art Faulkner [18.0] Frank: Sam Dahmer [20.0] Koel: On with the show [22.0] Koel: Let's Drone Out now [52.45] Jack: And you're listening to Let's Drone Out today is Thursday, it's the 4th of the 4th, 2024 [60.45] Zoe: 4-4-24? [62.45] Jack: Yep [63.45] Zoe: Does that mean the apocalypse occurs today? Is the sky going to open up? [67.45] Zoe: I don't know [68.45] Jack: Well it's not like it's the 4th of the 4th [70.45] Jack: 4,044 [73.45] Jack: 4,444 that would be amazing [76.45] Jack: I don't think we're going to last that long [78.45] Jack: I don't think Tony's got that in him [80.45] Jack: I don't even think he's got the next 40 minutes in him apparently [84.45] Zoe: You just have to connect yourself up to the neural link thingy, let them absorb your brain into the computer cloud and then you live forever [93.45] Zoe: At least that's what it first, isn't that what's happening now? [96.45] Zoe: Apparently [98.45] Jack: Tonight we are joined by everyone's favourite Canadian, Carl [104.45] Jack: Howdy [106.45] Jack: My darling wife Tony [108.45] Tony: What the hell, will you still get away with this? Bonjour [112.45] Jack: And someone we haven't heard from for quite some time, the goddess of 3D [120.45] Zoe: I don't know if that would use that term but okay, thank you [122.45] Jack: Zoe, FBV [124.45] Zoe: Hold on, hold on [126.45] Jack: Hello [128.45] Tony: Hello [130.45] Jack: Hello [132.45] Jack: Otherwise both ways round [134.45] Jack: Zoe, last time I talked to you, you were living or just about to move into a [144.45] Jack: Is it a camper van sort of thing? [146.45] Zoe: A recreational vehicle, 28 foot motorhome [150.45] Zoe: RV [152.45] Zoe: Yeah [154.45] Jack: I'm guessing that [156.45] Jack: Like periodically me and Frank were quite worried about you [160.45] Jack: It felt kind of very, very sad [166.45] Jack: And you weren't doing too well [170.45] Jack: But now you seem to be back on track [174.45] Jack: It seems that you're... [179.76] Jack: Well you've got a bed [181.76] Jack: And you look like you've been moved, but don't move [183.76] Zoe: Oh yeah, I know, graciously, thankfully [185.76] Zoe: I've moved in with a friend, Wu Tang is a pilot [189.76] Zoe: And I've been bumming it at his place for the last six months [193.76] Zoe: I've been trying to get my RV fixed [195.76] Zoe: It's got a lot of house issues [199.76] Zoe: Like there's the house and then there's the engine [201.76] Zoe: The engine runs really great [203.76] Zoe: It got fixed, it had, it was an $8,000 repair that I'm still trying to pay off [209.76] Zoe: And then there's the house stuff that needs a lot of work [213.76] Zoe: And it's just, yeah [215.76] Zoe: For those that don't know, the RV was originally donated to me [218.76] Zoe: And it needed a little TLC when I got it [220.76] Zoe: And it still needs some TLC now [222.76] Zoe: To make it at least livable, quote-unquote [225.76] Zoe: So for the time being, thankfully I've been here [229.76] Zoe: Before now, I was not in a good way [232.76] Zoe: I was living next to a friend's house without any running electricity properly [239.76] Zoe: Living out of an ice chest was very unhealthy [242.76] Zoe: It was very hard to be healthy [245.76] Zoe: Since I've been here in Woodlake, I've lost like 140 pounds [249.76] Zoe: I've been trying to get back into FPV [251.76] Zoe: I've been very thankful to have the opportunity to do what I've done [257.76] Zoe: And try to, quote-unquote, unify my life [262.76] Zoe: As hard as that is post-COVID and post, you know, whatever pandemic [267.76] Zoe: And with me, especially, and for those that don't know me [271.76] Zoe: I suffer from severe chronic pain due to nerve issues [275.76] Zoe: Like damaged nerves [278.76] Zoe: That's made it really hard for me to function the last few years [283.76] Zoe: So it's been a lot of ups and downs, a lot of downs [288.76] Zoe: Life still sucks, like I have no idea how I'm going to pay for anything [293.76] Zoe: Or function in society, or do any of the things that make life livable [299.76] Zoe: But I'm showing up every day, doing my best, taking showers every day [304.76] Zoe: Drinking coffee, taking care of myself, doing the self-care [307.76] Zoe: Doing the things I can do [310.76] Zoe: And it honestly just hasn't felt like enough lately [313.76] Zoe: Which is really depressing [315.76] Zoe: The whole reason I lost 140 pounds was to try to lessen the amount of pain I'm in [319.76] Zoe: And last month, especially, I returned to life in a large way [324.76] Zoe: I've gone to a live freestyle contest [327.76] Zoe: That was a four-hour trip up to Vallejo, California [329.76] Zoe: Really fun, St. Quatrix Day [331.76] Zoe: For anybody that doesn't know, I was like their second or third one [334.76] Zoe: It was a really, really cool event [336.76] Zoe: And I got to be a judge [337.76] Zoe: And it was the first time going back to an FPV event in years [341.76] Zoe: And I loved it, but it took a lot out of me physically [346.76] Zoe: And on top of that, it was a busy weekend [348.76] Zoe: Before that event, I was racing in DCL, Drone Champions League [353.76] Zoe: I'm on Mach 1 [355.76] Zoe: And it was a really busy week [356.76] Zoe: And then on top of that, a week after that, I hosted the Mach 1 freestyle contest [361.76] Zoe: Which was multi-cast across five different live streams at the same time [365.76] Zoe: And live judged [366.76] Zoe: That went really good [368.76] Zoe: All of that went great [370.76] Zoe: But it took the life out of me [372.76] Zoe: And unfortunately, I was really hoping it was going to be physically easier [376.76] Zoe: For me to do all those things [378.76] Zoe: And I struggled immensely to get it all done [381.76] Zoe: And I've been in a lot of pain the last few weeks because of it [385.76] Zoe: And it's been really hard to manage [389.76] Zoe: Yeah, I think that covers it [390.76] Zoe: It's a pretty good overview of what I'm about right now [394.76] Zoe: I think most of that is positive [396.76] Zoe: Framed in a positive way [398.76] Zoe: So, like, there's been a lot of crying, a lot of tears [402.76] Zoe: It's been a struggle [403.76] Jack: You chumming up and drinking coffee every day and showering [407.76] Jack: You're giving it a chance to get better [411.76] Jack: A lot of people don't [413.76] Jack: A lot of people draw [414.76] Zoe: The biggest thing is, like, life is beating me down [417.76] Zoe: I'm trying not to beat myself up as much as I can [420.76] Zoe: But I'm... [421.76] Zoe: Like, there's this self-destructive tendency [424.76] Zoe: It's been very good lately about not being self-destructive [428.76] Zoe: Like, I'm trying to upward spiral versus downward spiral [432.76] Zoe: And it's really hard [434.76] Jack: Easier said than done [435.76] Jack: As well as the positive [436.76] Jack: Yeah [437.76] Jack: So, I'm guessing you're time out from... [442.76] Jack: From then... [444.76] Jack: And then coming back in at the... [449.76] Jack: Like, judging and looking at the event [452.76] Jack: I'm guessing the technology's changed quite a lot for you [457.76] Zoe: Well, the funny thing is, I mean, I don't... [460.76] Zoe: I mean, maybe a little bit [462.76] Zoe: Not really [463.76] Zoe: I mean, if anything, it's more [466.76] Zoe: F'd up [468.76] Zoe: Like, I hate the fact that we have all these digital systems [471.76] Zoe: That don't work together [472.76] Zoe: And then we have all these [474.76] Zoe: It is an upward spiral of trippy spin, yes [476.76] Zoe: I guess that would be a trippy spin [477.76] Zoe: Yeah [478.76] Zoe: You wouldn't do that, yes [479.76] Zoe: I'm trying to trippy spin through life [482.76] Zoe: Hell yeah [484.76] Zoe: But yeah, no [485.76] Zoe: The technology, if anything, digital [488.76] Zoe: Like, I'm still running the same digital system I had [491.76] Zoe: Back when it came out [492.76] Zoe: Like, I was one of the early adopters of the DJI FPV system [495.76] Zoe: One of the first, like, beta testers of it [497.76] Zoe: With RotoRiot and stuff [498.76] Zoe: Oh, wow [499.76] Zoe: And it's still a great system [501.76] Zoe: I don't see... [503.76] Zoe: Like, I don't feel like any other digital systems have outdone [507.76] Zoe: That Gen 1 from five years ago [510.76] Zoe: And the only thing that's happened is we have all these other digital systems [513.76] Zoe: That don't work quite as good [515.76] Zoe: That don't work with each other [517.76] Zoe: And now we have analog pilots, DJI pilots, walk-in pilots, HD0 pilots [522.76] Zoe: And all these freaking pilots on different frequencies [525.76] Zoe: And as a live organizer, now you have to make do with all these different frequencies [531.76] Zoe: And you either tell pilots you only can race with HD0 [535.76] Zoe: Or you can only race with analog [537.76] Zoe: Or you tell... [538.76] Zoe: It's just... [539.76] Zoe: The technology, honestly, kind of backtracked a little bit [543.76] Zoe: I don't like this wall garden approach these digital companies are tackling right now [548.76] Zoe: It's not healthy for the industry [551.76] Zoe: Yeah, just too many variables [553.76] Koel: And then everyone's separate, basically [555.76] Koel: And it's just like... [557.76] Koel: You know, analog deals [559.76] Koel: It's like everybody has no issues [561.76] Koel: You're good [562.76] Koel: Your sh** works [563.76] Koel: It picks it up [564.76] Koel: And there you go [565.76] Koel: And now... [566.76] Jack: If you can shoot as many people as you want [568.76] Jack: You can tune in to one feed [570.76] Jack: And it's exactly the same [572.76] Jack: Bless you, Tony [573.76] Jack: And that is my problem with it [575.76] Zoe: Well, digital is amazing and lovely [577.76] Zoe: Now we have so much variety [579.76] Zoe: And at the end of the day for like event organizers [581.76] Zoe: And, you know, the actual back end of stuff [584.76] Zoe: I was thinking about trying to host a live freestyle contest in competition [588.76] Zoe: Absolutely nightmare fuel [590.76] Zoe: Absolute nightmare fuel [592.76] Zoe: Trying to figure that out [594.76] Jack: Zoe, what's it like trying to get hold of like VTXs [598.76] Jack: And cameras for the V1 stuff [602.76] Jack: Is anyone still making that? [604.76] Jack: Or is it all... [605.76] Zoe: So, okay, do you want this cuddle? [607.76] Zoe: This is crazy [609.76] Jack: And also, have you moved over to FTW? [613.76] Jack: Or whatever it was [615.76] Jack: WTF? [617.76] Jack: WTF, yeah [619.76] Zoe: Yeah, I use WTFOS and all my stuff [621.76] Zoe: Great, great little item [624.76] Zoe: But I like the hardware [629.76] Zoe: So from my knowledge [631.76] Zoe: DJI released their specs for their V1 system [634.76] Zoe: Like you had the regular air unit [637.76] Zoe: And then the Caddix system that came after [639.76] Zoe: Caddix was essentially handed the technology [642.76] Zoe: From DJI to produce it [644.76] Zoe: And then from to my knowledge [646.76] Zoe: Essentially reverse engineered things [648.76] Zoe: Spun things out with Wox now [650.76] Zoe: There's a little bit of a scuttle [652.76] Zoe: But with one of DJI's lead engineers [655.76] Zoe: Leaving to create certain companies [658.76] Zoe: While still working on DJI [660.76] Zoe: Either with full knowledge of things happening [663.76] Zoe: To try to get around certain things [666.76] Zoe: I'm being very vague here [668.76] Zoe: Because it's kind of crazy how things operate [670.76] Zoe: In certain countries in certain ways [672.76] Zoe: To get around tariffs and other things [675.76] Zoe: And non-operation agreements with certain companies [679.76] Zoe: A lot of companies are banned from working with DJI [681.76] Zoe: On a technological level [683.76] Zoe: But not so much with Caddix or Wox now [686.76] Zoe: So you have those whole things going on [690.76] Zoe: And then you have the fact that [692.76] Zoe: None of the stuff works with each other [694.76] Zoe: And it's all a knock off of a system that still works great [699.76] Zoe: And now Caddix no longer does the DJI [703.76] Zoe: They lost their DJI privileges [705.76] Zoe: Because they started to spool up their own system [707.76] Zoe: And then you have Wox now with their own system [710.76] Zoe: And then you have RunCam essentially being handed [713.76] Zoe: The original Vista unit [716.76] Zoe: To manufacture and produce and sell [719.76] Zoe: So it was technology handed from one company [722.76] Zoe: To another company to another company [724.76] Zoe: And now we have a bunch of these companies [726.76] Zoe: All operating effectively the same, stupid thing [729.76] Zoe: But they don't work quite the same [731.76] Zoe: And they don't work together [733.76] Zoe: Which is insanely frustrating [737.76] Zoe: Yes, it's very annoying [740.76] Zoe: Well, that's the way I see it [742.76] Zoe: Correct me if I'm wrong in any of that [744.76] Zoe: That's just coming back to the way I see things have happened [748.76] Koel: Honestly, that's a huge reason why I'm still flying analog [751.76] Koel: I keep seeing everybody [753.76] Koel: When V1 DJI was a thing [755.76] Koel: Then V2 came out and everyone's like [757.76] Koel: Oh no, is it going to work together? [759.76] Koel: And then 03 came out and everyone was doing the same thing [761.76] Koel: And then Wox now [763.76] Koel: And HD0, it's just like [765.76] Koel: I know analog is going to work [767.76] Koel: And it's never going to not work [769.76] Koel: So I'm sticking with that [771.76] Koel: I don't know [772.76] Koel: Maybe one day if I somehow [774.76] Koel: Muster up the strength to get away from analog [777.76] Koel: I will if enough [779.76] Koel: So like dish out a shitload of money [782.76] Koel: But yeah, I don't know [785.76] Koel: It's for me [787.76] Tony: Have you been flying there, did you? [790.76] Koel: Yeah, yeah, I've tried it [792.76] Koel: And I've went along for some rides in the goggles [794.76] Koel: And I have done it [796.76] Koel: But I mean, I don't know, man [798.76] Koel: Yeah, you get a better image [800.76] Koel: But I feel like while digital [803.76] Koel: Digital is a luxury more than a necessity, it seems like [806.76] Koel: I mean, correct me if I'm wrong [808.76] Koel: I mean, for me as a [810.76] Koel: Maybe a biased non-digital [812.76] Koel: Yeah, it's [814.76] Koel: I guess, but everybody that's digital is like [816.76] Zoe: So at the end of the day, our entire experience [818.76] Zoe: FOV boils down to [820.76] Zoe: The image hitting our eyeballs [822.76] Zoe: True [823.76] Zoe: And in my opinion, you want that image to be the best image possible [826.76] Zoe: I'd much rather have one really good HD rig [829.76] Zoe: Yeah [830.76] Zoe: Than two analog vlogs [832.76] Zoe: True [833.76] Zoe: I'd much rather baby and like cherish [835.76] Zoe: One beautiful machine that gives me the best possible image quality [839.76] Zoe: Than a bunch of analog vlogs [841.76] Zoe: Yeah [842.76] Zoe: But that's me [843.76] Zoe: That's me also been spoiled [845.76] Zoe: And handed the system to test [846.76] Zoe: That's me seeing the system work [848.76] Zoe: In a lot of different ways [850.76] Zoe: And having seen the benefits [852.76] Zoe: Of being able to [854.76] Zoe: Fly from my bedroom [855.76] Zoe: Like I plug in [857.76] Zoe: I fly out the window [859.76] Zoe: I go across the street to the elementary school [861.76] Zoe: When it's empty [862.76] Zoe: And I rip packs [863.76] Zoe: And I don't have any breakup [864.76] Zoe: I don't have any weird latency issues [866.76] Zoe: It just works and it's a beautiful image [869.76] Koel: Yeah, that's a good argument [870.76] Koel: Because, you know, like the whole breakup and penetration and whatever [874.76] Koel: It's a totally different ballgame from analog to digital, I guess, right? [878.76] Koel: So that's totally fair [880.76] Koel: Yeah [881.76] Koel: You know, it is a lot more expensive though [884.76] Zoe: And that is one of my issues [885.76] Zoe: I can't even afford digital equipment [887.76] Zoe: Like I have enough parts to repair my quads [890.76] Zoe: To replace a stack if I need [892.76] Zoe: Motors, God forbid [894.76] Zoe: Frame parts [896.76] Zoe: But I can't afford the digital equipment myself [899.76] Zoe: And that scares me [901.76] Zoe: If I start blowing stuff out [903.76] Zoe: It's going to be hard for me to come back from [906.76] Zoe: And that's definitely a thing [908.76] Zoe: Is the upkeep for that [909.76] Zoe: But that being said [910.76] Zoe: High-end digital VTX and camera [913.76] Zoe: Is what, like 160 now [916.76] Zoe: Versus high-end analog [919.76] Zoe: Which is about 90-ish [922.76] Zoe: But then if you also factor in the fact [925.76] Zoe: You can use the area and slash the digital VTX as a receiver [929.76] Zoe: Then, you know, throw in a $3 crossfire unit effectively in there [933.76] Zoe: And, you know, the prices start getting a little bit closer [935.76] Zoe: But you're still paying a premium [937.76] Zoe: And most people are using a separate receiver [939.76] Zoe: Apart from the digital system anyways [941.76] Koel: Yeah [943.76] Koel: Yeah, I've just been really lucky [945.76] Koel: Because I've basically taken everyone's hand-me-down [947.76] Koel: So I've been getting analog sh** [949.76] Koel: That's like, you know, pennies [951.76] Koel: Because no one's using it anymore [953.76] Koel: And, like, perfect [955.76] Koel: Like, you know, if I don't have to spend anything on that [957.76] Koel: Well, not anything, but, you know [959.76] Koel: I'm kind of cheap, I guess [961.76] Koel: Is what it comes down to, so [963.76] Koel: Is that what you say? [965.76] Koel: Yeah, pretty much [967.76] Koel: I mean, it's like, analog, yeah [969.76] Koel: I can see good enough, is like [971.76] Koel: But, yeah, obviously the experience is definitely [973.76] Koel: You get a better experience out of digital, I'm sure [976.76] Koel: Like, there's no questioning that [979.76] Zoe: Yeah, it's weird [981.76] Zoe: Someone asked, is the extra res of digital [984.76] Zoe: More beneficial in flying 3D than 3D? [986.76] Zoe: Um [989.76] Zoe: So I run my digital goggles in 4x3 [992.76] Zoe: So one of the big things, actually [994.76] Zoe: This is a huge tip for those digital pilots [996.76] Zoe: That want to fly 3D [998.76] Zoe: Or just Acro in general [1000.76] Zoe: 16x9 orientation goggles [1002.76] Zoe: At least the V2s [1004.76] Zoe: Will cut off the top and bottom of the sensor [1007.76] Zoe: And so, if you run it in 4x3 mode [1009.76] Zoe: It actually compresses, quote-unquote [1011.76] Zoe: The full image into your goggles [1013.76] Zoe: And you get extra visuals [1015.76] Zoe: For the 4x3, you get a little bit more vertical [1018.76] Jack: Yeah, because you're going to need that real estate [1021.76] Jack: Because you're changing, you're losing some [1025.76] Jack: From being upside down and angled [1029.76] Zoe: Yeah, because you're essentially flying at like 0 tilt with 3D [1032.76] Zoe: Well, a lot of people fly at very low tilt, at least [1036.76] Zoe: So you're constantly kind of picking your horizons [1039.76] Zoe: Either up or down, depending if you're right side up or upside down [1042.76] Zoe: So having an extra vertical definitely helps [1045.76] Zoe: That being said, the best camera I've had for 3D is still an analog quad [1049.76] Zoe: So I can put a 1.7 lens on that thing [1052.76] Zoe: And have like a 180 degree field of view [1055.76] Zoe: And see all of the things [1057.76] Zoe: Yeah [1058.76] Zoe: And keep orientation very easily [1060.76] Tony: But now, GoPro lens in [1064.76] Tony: That's what we used to do [1066.76] Tony: Yeah, good GoPro lens [1068.76] Tony: Stick it in your FBV camera [1070.76] Tony: See round the corner [1072.76] Jack: Yeah [1073.76] Jack: I remember like Tony buying some [1076.76] Jack: And you would literally have to [1079.76] Jack: Crack them out of the plastic housing [1083.76] Jack: Yeah, in order to screw them in [1086.76] Jack: And then they changed them [1088.76] Jack: So that I had gaps in the thread [1090.76] Jack: And that was the worst [1093.76] Tony: It was [1094.76] Tony: Oh, in fact it says analog is still king when it comes to microspoops [1099.76] Tony: Performance equals less weight [1102.76] Tony: At the moment, yes, I agree [1106.76] Jack: Making vistas, I think [1109.76] Jack: They were [1110.76] Jack: That was the big difference [1114.76] Jack: So, speaking of complete nightmares [1118.76] Jack: That aren't your fault [1121.76] Zoe: Yeah [1123.76] Jack: What happened with Discord? [1125.76] Jack: Because you got a bit of an announcement there [1128.76] Jack: Oh no [1129.76] Zoe: Yeah [1130.76] Zoe: Where do we even begin? [1131.76] Zoe: I don't even know where to start on this one, oh my god [1133.76] Jack: Oh yeah [1134.76] Jack: Is it true that your friend has done a digital game [1138.76] Jack: With a digital game called Don't Click? [1142.76] Jack: Sounds suspicious [1145.76] Zoe: Oh, okay, so, okay, so [1149.76] Zoe: I'm glad I can talk about it now because [1152.76] Zoe: I officially have control of my Discord account back [1155.76] Zoe: After three weeks of going back and forth with Discord support on this [1159.76] Zoe: Yeah, so my original Discord had like 900 members that got deleted [1163.76] Zoe: But the whole story is effectively, for those that don't know [1167.76] Zoe: Social engineer attack, one of my friend's accounts was compromised [1171.76] Zoe: I used to play games with them and actually beta test stuff with them [1174.76] Zoe: So this social engineering thing actually worked really well on me [1177.76] Zoe: I think unfortunately [1178.76] Zoe: I am [1179.76] Zoe: It was not in a great state of mind when I like agreed to things [1183.76] Zoe: And it was weird because like most of the time when you get it like [1185.76] Zoe: You see [1186.76] Zoe: I'm back to it [1187.76] Zoe: A social engineering hack, quote unquote [1189.76] Zoe: Someone posts a random link to something with a random message [1192.76] Zoe: And it's like a drive-by link to post [1194.76] Zoe: This was not that [1195.76] Zoe: This was somebody on my friend's account hitting up like [1198.76] Zoe: Hey, how are you doing? It's been a while [1200.76] Zoe: That's it [1201.76] Zoe: You reply to the message, have an entire conversation [1204.76] Zoe: Until eventually it got to the point of [1206.76] Zoe: Them saying, hey, I worked on this game with my friend [1209.76] Zoe: I need your help beta testing you down [1212.76] Zoe: And me being a helpful person [1214.76] Zoe: And also having tested things with this person before was like [1217.76] Zoe: This seems legit [1218.76] Zoe: Obviously I'm going to go help them out [1220.76] Jack: Yeah [1221.76] Zoe: It was not legit [1222.76] Zoe: Linked me to a website [1223.76] Zoe: Looks like a legit website [1224.76] Zoe: Linked me to a download [1225.76] Zoe: Looked like a legit download [1227.76] Zoe: Download the thing [1228.76] Zoe: Was not [1229.76] Zoe: It's very, very not legitimate [1232.76] Zoe: I didn't get caught by my virus scanner in time [1235.76] Zoe: Or at all [1236.76] Zoe: And it was essentially a back door to my computer [1240.76] Zoe: And went to the process of hijacking my Discord account instantly [1244.76] Zoe: And then they had backdoor control [1247.76] Zoe: And I noticed some weirdness after [1249.76] Zoe: So I logged out of all my accounts [1251.76] Zoe: And I started waiting to see what happened [1253.76] Zoe: Eventually my computer rebooted randomly [1256.76] Zoe: And when it started to come back [1259.76] Zoe: That's when I noticed several of my hard drives [1261.76] Zoe: Were in the middle of being partitioned [1264.76] Zoe: And things were very much out of whack [1268.76] Zoe: So I went into complete recovery mode [1272.76] Zoe: Thankfully I had some great friends around [1274.76] Zoe: I was able to completely nuke the hard drives [1278.76] Zoe: I was able to recover some key files first and foremost [1282.76] Zoe: Nuke the hard drives [1285.76] Zoe: Before, yeah, and then re-install fully clean [1289.76] Zoe: It was a pain in the ass, took several days [1291.76] Zoe: And that was right up to the DCL stuff [1294.76] Zoe: And the free stuff [1296.76] Zoe: So it was a very stressful week ahead of me at that point [1299.76] Zoe: Don't know how I got through all that [1301.76] Zoe: Thankfully they didn't charge or hit my PayPal account [1305.76] Zoe: I was able to disconnect my PayPal in time [1307.76] Zoe: Before they tried hitting with Nitro [1310.76] Zoe: And, yeah, I re-locked out all my accounts [1314.76] Zoe: Two-factored all of the things that weren't already two-factored [1317.76] Zoe: And the most effed up part is [1320.76] Zoe: Two-factored wouldn't even have saved me on Discord [1323.76] Zoe: Because of the way their hacks worked [1326.76] Zoe: Because it de-auth you using your own client session [1329.76] Zoe: And they done f***ed up and tried hitting up someone else in the community [1334.76] Zoe: Who is a security researcher [1337.76] Zoe: Who then was able to get their payload and dissect it [1341.76] Zoe: And has since, to my knowledge, now picked up by security definitions [1345.76] Zoe: And security scanners [1346.76] Zoe: So their payloads have been made ineffective as well [1349.76] Zoe: So, like, the actual fallout from people [1353.76] Zoe: And this is a really creepy part [1354.76] Zoe: Is now I can go in and see my account [1356.76] Zoe: And see who it contacted [1358.76] Zoe: It's really eerie [1360.76] Zoe: It's really f***ing eerie, it makes my scam crawl [1364.76] Zoe: So needless to say, at ZoeFPB on Discord [1367.76] Zoe: Should not be contacting anyone for any weird games [1370.76] Zoe: Still, do not click on any links [1372.76] Zoe: If I ask you to click on a link [1374.76] Zoe: You get me in a Discord chat, let's talk [1377.76] Zoe: Same thing with all your friends [1379.76] Zoe: Like, the social engineering level of sophistication and hacks is increasing [1384.76] Zoe: And it was a huge wake-up call for me [1386.76] Zoe: I know it was a huge wake-up call for a lot of my friends [1389.76] Zoe: And thankfully the only real damage that I know that's done so far [1392.76] Zoe: Is I lost my original Discord server like 900 people [1396.76] Zoe: I made a new one [1399.76] Zoe: But yeah, that's [1401.76] Zoe: Could have been worse [1402.76] Zoe: Could have been a lot worse [1405.76] Koel: Looks like AudioGek's wondering, did the old friend know that they were hacked? [1409.76] Zoe: I don't know, the only contact I have with them is via Discord [1413.76] Zoe: Like, we played probably thousands of hours of MMOs together [1417.76] Zoe: Over the course of several years [1419.76] Zoe: Wow [1421.76] Zoe: Yeah, so that was the whole thing [1424.76] Koel: Yeah, people on the internet these days, they're getting [1427.76] Koel: They're getting creative, that's, you know, you could say [1432.76] Zoe: The biggest thing they had me on Dastin need to ask me for money to get it back [1436.76] Zoe: And hold on, so that was the whole thing [1438.76] Koel: Of course, yeah [1440.76] Koel: There's a bunch of YouTubers that I follow that are like scambaiters [1443.76] Koel: And like, you know, basically set prey on the scammers to try to get them shut down [1449.76] Koel: But it's like Whack-A-Mole, basically [1453.76] Zoe: It is, it is [1455.76] Zoe: And there's more and more scammers out there, getting more and more sophisticated [1459.76] Zoe: Yeah, this is the thing, I generally know better [1461.76] Zoe: This is the thing I really screw with my head, I know better [1464.76] Zoe: I know better more than most [1469.2] Zoe: And I still had a lapse of judgement [1472.2] Tony: Yeah, but it just takes one off day, one second, one lapse of not thinking [1479.2] Tony: Imagine when we all get older and we're all, you know, our brains are even shorter than they are now [1487.2] Tony: Oh, that's going to be a nightmare, we'll be answering the door, telling people on the telephone what our bank account is, you know [1494.2] Tony: All it takes is one second, so it can't feel bad [1497.2] Koel: Yeah, yeah, it happens to the best of us [1500.2] Koel: I mean, I've known a bunch of people that it's happened to [1503.2] Koel: And it's so hard to, it's hard to know [1507.2] Koel: Especially if like, you know, you thought it was someone that you talked to, you could trust, whatever [1512.2] Koel: And it definitely must not feel good after you're like, oh, I got tricked [1517.2] Koel: And it's like, ugh, it's terrible [1520.2] Zoe: I just felt bad because I was worried about other people getting messed with [1525.2] Zoe: I tried really hard to send messages out to my social media [1528.2] Zoe: I went on BlockRiner's livestream, like BlockRiner [1530.2] Zoe: Let people know my Discord was hacked and not to click on your links from it [1534.2] Zoe: I was, I did more, like, to try to get people to know not that something was awry [1541.2] Zoe: Than most companies do when they get their entire systems, like, hacked [1545.2] Zoe: And all the information's stolen [1548.2] Zoe: So I was, I tried, and it was, it felt very helpless [1552.2] Zoe: Like, Discord support is horrible [1554.2] Zoe: And I was a Nitro member, paying $9 a month for their service [1558.2] Zoe: And it still took them two weeks to get back to me to say that they're escalating the case [1563.2] Zoe: And then, even after that, the person still was contacting people [1567.2] Zoe: I was still getting messages from friends saying that they were being contacted by the account [1572.2] Zoe: Like, it's very frustrating that, you know, a lot of this stuff is not just down to the people [1578.2] Zoe: But also down to companies who don't have the support slash the tools slash the backend necessary [1587.2] Zoe: Because I can only imagine, if I was compromised, other people got compromised [1590.2] Zoe: Like, it just rolls downhill, more support requests for support tickets, more issues for Discord [1596.2] Zoe: More chargebacks on credit cards, which doesn't work good for them and their payment processors, like [1602.2] Jack: Yeah, meanwhile, you've got people, like, with ring doorbells [1606.2] Jack: And someone rings the doorbell and they're like, hi, I'm selling cookies [1610.2] Jack: Or, you know, raising money and they're like, oh, I'm not home right now [1614.2] Jack: And then... [1617.2] Jack: The meeting goes, hey, they're not in [1620.2] Jack: And then break in [1622.2] Jack: Because you literally just told them, hi, I'm not in [1626.2] Jack: At the moment, on your ring doorbell that you've bought to help with security [1634.2] Koel: I had my Snapchat got hacked a few years ago by some dude in, like, the Middle East [1639.2] Koel: And it was so weird because it took me a good couple months to actually get it back [1644.2] Koel: Because I was going back and forth with Snapchat [1646.2] Koel: But they took forever to get back to me [1648.2] Koel: And eventually, I actually ended up getting back in [1652.2] Koel: They gave me an email saying, hey, here's your actual new login [1655.2] Koel: Whoever was on it is out [1657.2] Koel: I logged back in [1659.2] Koel: This dude in the Middle East actually got back in within, like, 10 minutes [1663.2] Koel: And I set up two-factor, I did all this shit [1666.2] Koel: But then somehow I was able to, like... [1669.2] Koel: I had to, like, basically do it again [1671.2] Koel: But I was finally able to do that [1673.2] Koel: And then once I did that, I changed my username [1675.2] Koel: And then I just, like, deleted the account [1677.2] Koel: Or, like, deactivated it until it was gone [1679.2] Koel: And, uh... [1681.2] Koel: Yeah, it's really weird to see, like, the messages they're sending [1684.2] Koel: Like, the stories they posted [1686.2] Koel: The... [1688.2] Jack: Very violating [1690.2] Koel: Yeah, it's just, like... [1691.2] Koel: I don't know, man [1692.2] Koel: People just need to get a life, I guess [1694.2] Koel: But it's kind of weird [1697.2] Jack: If you want to feel better about yourself [1699.2] Jack: So, check out Wooden Gears [1701.2] Jack: Or... [1703.2] Jack: Um... [1704.2] Jack: Is it Matthias? Matthias? [1706.2] Jack: Uh... [1708.2] Jack: Hang on, let's have a look [1710.2] Jack: Yeah, uh... [1711.2] Jack: Matthias Wandl [1713.2] Jack: He's a Canadian dude [1715.2] Jack: And... [1717.2] Jack: He's... [1718.2] Jack: Yeah, his channel got, like, hacked [1721.2] Jack: I'll post... [1722.2] Jack: I'll post a link in the chat [1726.2] Zoe: I didn't lose my YouTube or anything else [1729.2] Zoe: So it was just... [1730.2] Zoe: Yeah [1731.2] Zoe: If I did not act the way I acted in that moment [1734.2] Zoe: And realizing how f***ing things were [1737.2] Zoe: I honestly could have lost so much more [1739.2] Zoe: And it's such a thing [1743.2] Jack: It was... [1744.2] Jack: That was a nightmare [1747.2] Jack: Um... [1748.2] Jack: They take your channel [1750.2] Jack: They private all your videos [1753.2] Jack: And then start putting the weird, deep-fake, sort of, edited videos of Elon Musk talking about Bitcoin [1762.2] Jack: And, like, Mr. Beast and all that [1764.2] Jack: And then trying to get people to invest [1767.2] Jack: And it just totally... [1769.2] Jack: Yeah, with, like, livestream, he just totally tanks and, like, ruins the algorithm for your... [1775.2] Jack: And so many people, like, unsubscribe [1778.2] Jack: He says, like... [1780.2] Jack: And they got it back [1781.2] Jack: And they were straight back in again [1783.2] Jack: Because of the, um... [1785.2] Jack: You know, because of, like, the sort of, like, pre-determined, like, log-in cash [1791.2] Zoe: No, I will say, like, I feel thankful that I didn't get to that point [1796.2] Zoe: And I haven't had a deal with that so far [1799.2] Zoe: I'm so worried about it [1800.2] Zoe: That was my biggest worry [1801.2] Zoe: And still my biggest worry is that, you know, quote-unquote, the danger's not done [1804.2] Zoe: And, you know, something's still looming [1807.2] Zoe: But... [1809.2] Zoe: Nothing horrible's happened so far [1811.2] Zoe: And, you know, I've been very, you know, safe, quote-unquote [1816.2] Koel: Yeah, fingers crossed [1818.2] Zoe: But it still doesn't mean [1819.2] Zoe: Like, I had issues back in the end of 2016 with, like, similar computer problems [1826.2] Zoe: And at that point, I didn't have the mental resources or ability to handle nearly as well as I did this time around [1832.2] Zoe: And I spiraled really hard from that one [1834.2] Zoe: And that was not good [1836.2] Zoe: But now, like, this one feels more like, thankfully, a speed bump than, you know [1843.2] Zoe: And the last one was more targeted [1845.2] Zoe: People, it was a really weird time, I don't know, I had [1848.2] Zoe: There was a small group of people in the community that were very nasty [1851.2] Zoe: And I haven't really talked about that story [1853.2] Zoe: And really don't want to [1854.2] Zoe: Because I don't like giving them the time of day or the breath of air [1859.2] Zoe: This time it was me being completely f***ing stupid [1862.2] Zoe: And just clicking on some random s*** from people trying to f*** them [1866.2] Zoe: Culturally throw their way into people's accounts [1869.2] Zoe: So it was a lot less, like, hate-filled and a lot more, like, by dung goofed [1874.2] Zoe: And I'm very thankful that I've had friends around to help me through things [1877.2] Zoe: Like Ali and Luna and Space, Crystal, and all my friends in the Discord [1883.2] Zoe: Having people basically there tap me on the shoulder and be like [1888.48] Zoe: Yozu, are you okay? You got this [1891.48] Zoe: That's helped me through so much [1894.48] Tony: It does, doesn't it? [1896.48] Tony: People doing that to you [1897.48] Tony: It makes you feel so much better [1900.48] Tony: And you can keep going [1902.48] Tony: Yeah [1904.48] Koel: Yes, the board is super important when tough times happen [1908.48] Koel: It's like, that's what can help you keep going, really [1912.48] Zoe: That's why I've been trying to be very honest in this podcast [1915.48] Zoe: Talking about the real issues, but also the real triumphs and everything involved within it [1922.48] Zoe: You can't have the good without the bad [1924.48] Zoe: And I know at one point in my life, years ago, especially my channel and more publicly [1930.48] Zoe: I struggled a lot more than people really knew [1934.48] Zoe: And I feel like that wasn't a disservice to myself [1937.48] Zoe: And just the world around me [1939.48] Zoe: Because a lot of people saw all the successes, but they didn't see all the struggles in between [1945.48] Zoe: That, for at least me, made the successes all the more, like, right [1950.48] Tony: Yeah [1951.48] Zoe: And so coming back into FPV, I'm trying to, quote-unquote, not hide the ugliness [1959.48] Zoe: But also be very cognizant to, like, I don't know, not [1966.48] Zoe: Not necessarily dwell on it, I'm not focused on the bad [1968.48] Zoe: Like, I really want to figure out solutions to my life [1971.48] Zoe: I want to figure out passwords for not just myself, but FPV in general [1976.48] Zoe: Like, it's a community effort to make sure that FPV stays amazing [1981.48] Zoe: It's not just one company or one person [1984.48] Zoe: It literally takes all of us being great ambassadors for this hobby [1987.48] Zoe: Especially now with how FPV has turned into a war machine in some ways [1995.48] Zoe: And we have to be the reminders that it's not just that [2000.48] Zoe: And FPV is such an amazing experience and such an amazing hobby that [2006.48] Zoe: It needs to be seen, it needs to be protected, it needs to be celebrated [2010.48] Zoe: Even with all the bad [2013.48] Zoe: So, yeah [2014.48] Frank: This episode was recorded in front of a live online audience [2017.48] Frank: Downloaded and edited to make sense when it played audio only [2021.48] Frank: Censored to please the iTunes people hosted on the internet [2024.48] Frank: Forwarded through to your podcast provider [2026.48] Frank: Downloaded, playing on your device, and is now playing in your ears [2029.48] Frank: All thanks to our Patreons [2031.48] Frank: Consider joining them and you'll also get other online benefits [2035.48] Frank: Find out more at patreon.com [2037.48] Frank: Four slash, let's drone out [2040.48] Tony: Oh, MG's come into the chat [2043.48] Tony: Oh, yeah, Max [2044.48] Zoe: You're enjoying the content, it's absolutely beautiful, MG [2048.48] Zoe: I'm very glad you entered and I'm hoping you're going to get the next one [2052.48] Zoe: Yeah, no, I really hope all the moc1pales get a chance to meet [2055.48] Zoe: I'd be really warm [2057.48] Zoe: That would be cool, everyone, but you know [2060.48] Tony: I'd say you love MG's flow [2063.48] Koel: I've been tuning into some of those reviews [2066.48] Koel: I know that guy, Fly, he's been posting stuff [2069.48] Koel: And I guess everybody has been, yeah [2071.48] Koel: It's really cool to see all the entries [2075.48] Zoe: Honestly, the thing I'm most proud of is coming back to FVV [2080.48] Zoe: I feel like, in general, when you're doing something [2083.48] Zoe: It's always like, what's the last thing you've done, quote unquote [2086.48] Zoe: And coming back into FVV, I really hadn't done the last thing I've done, quote unquote [2091.48] Zoe: Well, the last things I've done is working on a preset for 3D and Betaflight for 4.5 [2096.48] Zoe: That makes it absolutely frickin' buttery and fun to fly [2101.48] Zoe: Getting into DCL with moc1 and pushing, again, racing-wise [2105.48] Zoe: And being faster than I've ever been before [2107.48] Zoe: Even though I feel like I'm still slow compared to the amazing pilots in DCL [2111.48] Zoe: And there's a lot of amazing pilots in DCL this year [2115.48] Zoe: And then this freestyle contest [2116.48] Zoe: Coming in and hosting a freestyle contest again [2119.48] Zoe: And doing something new and unique [2121.48] Zoe: The fact that we were able to do a livestream on five different channels [2125.48] Zoe: At the same time with seven judges [2128.48] Zoe: And have 30 entries judged within a matter of an hour [2132.48] Zoe: I think that was a really accomplishment on its own [2136.48] Zoe: One accomplishment I hope to repeat in the future with the next contest [2142.48] Zoe: And I think it's one that I think the community will support more [2145.48] Zoe: And it'll be a lot less stressful for me [2147.48] Zoe: Because people know what I'm trying to do now versus [2150.48] Zoe: Be like, hey, I'm trying to do this contest [2153.48] Zoe: I want to do multiple livestreams [2156.48] Zoe: I have all this live-judging things going on [2158.48] Zoe: I don't have to explain it [2159.48] Zoe: People now can see it [2161.48] Zoe: They can go watch the livestreams [2164.48] Zoe: The people that have livestreams [2167.48] Zoe: They now know what to expect [2169.48] Zoe: And they can help others learn what to expect [2172.48] Zoe: The livestreams and stuff like that [2175.48] Zoe: So it's something I'm very proud of [2178.48] Zoe: And I hope it continues [2179.48] Zoe: And I hope the community will get behind [2181.48] Zoe: Because the moc1 [2182.48] Zoe: A lot of people I've seen in a comment [2184.48] Zoe: Not in a lot of people [2185.48] Zoe: But I've seen at least a couple of comments [2187.48] Zoe: Accused moc1 of being [2188.48] Zoe: Woke corporate s*** [2191.48] Zoe: And corporate's back sponsored wokeness [2195.48] Zoe: Well, let me tell you, it's not [2196.48] Zoe: There's no corporate sponsors that are pushing all these ladies [2199.48] Zoe: To come together to form moc1 [2202.48] Zoe: There are a bunch of amazing women in the community [2204.48] Zoe: That want to promote not just more women in the community [2209.48] Zoe: But FPV being an amazing community for women and everybody [2213.48] Zoe: And it's a hard balance to do [2216.48] Zoe: And it's hard to try to promote women without [2220.48] Zoe: On some level quote-unquote sounding woke [2223.48] Zoe: But I know everyone within the team [2226.48] Zoe: Wants to do it the right way [2228.48] Zoe: And wants to just try to create a spotlight [2230.48] Zoe: For more women in the industry [2231.48] Zoe: Because there's a lot of amazing pilots [2234.48] Zoe: And we kind of feel like the only way [2236.48] Zoe: We're going to see more women get into FPV [2239.48] Zoe: Is if more women are given a spotlight [2242.48] Zoe: And shown that, you know, hey, they exist too [2246.48] Zoe: There's another woman like me [2247.48] Zoe: And there's someone like me that's doing this epic thing [2250.48] Zoe: Like maybe I can do that too [2251.48] Zoe: Maybe I can reach out to them and like [2253.48] Zoe: Have a friendship with that person [2256.48] Zoe: Totally [2257.48] Zoe: It is so important to have that kind of spotlight [2260.48] Zoe: And that's something that I'm really, really trying [2263.48] Zoe: With these competitions and contests [2266.48] Zoe: While also making sure it's something available [2268.48] Zoe: For the entire community [2270.48] Zoe: And I might get in trouble for saying this [2273.48] Zoe: And I feel like it needs to be said [2276.48] Zoe: When I came in to Mach 1 [2280.48] Zoe: I was very adamant in making sure [2282.48] Zoe: That all the competitions were open to everybody [2284.48] Zoe: That we didn't just have women-only competitions [2288.48] Zoe: Because I don't want to see exclusion in the reverse [2292.48] Zoe: With an FPV [2295.48] Zoe: And it's a really hard balance [2298.48] Zoe: One that I unfortunately feel like is on my shoulders right now [2301.48] Zoe: A little bit [2302.48] Zoe: But it's one that I want to try to achieve [2305.48] Zoe: Because I want a brighter and better future for FPV [2308.48] Zoe: And that means a better future for everyone in it [2311.48] Zoe: Not just, you know, the current state of people [2315.48] Zoe: And I want the next great generation of pilots to come in [2318.48] Zoe: And take over and bring it to a level that we can only imagine [2321.48] Zoe: I still think that's going to happen [2324.48] Tony: Hopefully [2326.48] Tony: How long did you have off? [2329.48] Tony: How long did you not fly for? [2331.48] Zoe: From not flying to flying again [2336.48] Zoe: About two and a half, three years I think [2339.48] Zoe: Is it that long? [2341.48] Zoe: Yeah, like when I got sick with COVID [2345.48] Zoe: It exasperated my nerve pain issues [2348.48] Zoe: And also my stomach issues [2350.48] Zoe: And it was really hard for me to even sit down and simulate her [2353.48] Zoe: And it was [2356.48] Zoe: It took a while for my body to [2358.48] Zoe: I think I had long COVID effectively [2361.48] Zoe: It took a while for me to start getting over that [2364.48] Zoe: So [2368.48] Zoe: Yeah, and then also being in a place in life [2371.48] Zoe: Where I really didn't have access to going to fly easily [2373.48] Zoe: And physically just not in a good way [2376.48] Zoe: It was very rough [2378.48] Zoe: And it made me realize there definitely has two versions of my life [2381.48] Zoe: One with FPV and one without FPV [2384.48] Zoe: And physically things suck [2387.86] Zoe: But I'd much rather live in a world where I'm flying [2389.86] Zoe: Than one where I'm not [2392.86] Zoe: That's still one of my only great escapes [2395.86] Tony: It is a great escape, isn't it? [2398.86] Tony: I haven't done it for a little while [2400.86] Tony: I haven't flown for I think I've had a year off flying [2403.86] Tony: I think the luck, when was the last flight? [2405.86] Tony: I don't know, probably easily a year ago I think [2409.86] Zoe: It's not a food frigate hum is it? [2412.86] Tony: Yeah, hopefully I can pick it back up and [2415.86] Tony: Fly again and it'll be all okay [2418.86] Tony: I do miss the [2421.86] Tony: I do miss meeting up with Buddy [2423.86] Tony: I do miss the whole [2426.86] Tony: Well, just going out and finding somewhere to fly with friends [2429.86] Tony: And just spending a day chatting rubbish [2432.86] Tony: Flying a bit [2434.86] Jack: Yeah, I get [2437.86] Jack: I think something that's really nice for me is like [2440.86] Jack: Cole's editing videos for me [2442.86] Jack: And it is nice to like [2445.86] Jack: Have key [2447.86] Jack: Edited videos to come back to [2449.86] Jack: I haven't had to troll through that footage [2451.86] Jack: You'll get stressed now or [2453.86] Jack: Like be like trying to make a narrative [2455.86] Jack: It's [2457.86] Jack: Cole gets to like rummage in my underwear draw [2460.86] Jack: Then put an outfit together [2463.86] Jack: I get to look back at that outfit and be like [2466.86] Jack: Yeah, back in the 70s when Tony had hair [2469.86] Jack: And my stuff [2473.86] Jack: And a Hawaiian shirt [2475.86] Koel: I have never rummaged through Jack's underwear drawer [2478.86] Koel: I will just say that out loud [2480.86] Jack: Yeah, and you look and I get this little snapshot [2483.86] Jack: Like [2485.86] Jack: It's a sunny day and I had friends [2488.86] Jack: And we went out and we just [2490.86] Jack: Filled and it was great [2492.86] Jack: And Tony was like look at the grass [2495.86] Jack: And yeah, it's not [2497.86] Jack: Admittedly Cole wasn't there [2499.86] Jack: But now and again Cole visits [2501.86] Jack: And it's alright [2502.86] Zoe: I call it touching grass [2504.86] Zoe: And I [2506.86] Zoe: I tell myself this [2508.86] Zoe: I know the phrase touching grass at some point [2510.86] Zoe: If you tell someone to go touch grass [2511.86] Zoe: It's really taken as an insult [2513.86] Zoe: I tell it to myself because [2515.86] Zoe: I need to go touch grass on occasion [2517.86] Zoe: I need to go outside [2518.86] Zoe: Get out of my little box [2519.86] Zoe: Whether it's the RV or this room [2521.86] Zoe: Or the house [2523.86] Zoe: Literally touch grass with my drone [2526.86] Zoe: And just go out and fly [2528.86] Zoe: And I think that's the biggest thing [2530.86] Zoe: FPV does for a lot of people [2533.86] Zoe: It literally gets us out of our frickin' heads [2536.86] Zoe: And there's very few things that is so all-encompassing [2539.86] Zoe: That requires your attention [2541.86] Zoe: Like you can't not focus on FPV when you're flying [2544.86] Zoe: You cannot not focus on what you're doing [2547.86] Zoe: So it literally forces you into a flow state [2550.86] Zoe: And it's something I think a lot of people [2552.86] Zoe: Whether they're dealing with physical issues [2554.86] Zoe: Or mental issues [2556.86] Zoe: It helps [2558.86] Zoe: It's just [2560.86] Zoe: This is one of the things I wish I had the energy [2562.86] Zoe: And time and motivation to go back to school [2564.86] Zoe: Because I would love to study the psychochemical effects [2568.86] Zoe: Of FPV on the brain [2570.86] Jack: One thing I do want to offer you, Zoe [2573.86] Jack: And no pressure [2575.86] Jack: But one day if you are feeling better [2578.86] Jack: Let us know if you want to kick us off for one day [2583.86] Jack: And you host all girls things [2586.86] Jack: There's no dudes [2588.86] Jack: It's not like, you know, a sausage fest [2590.86] Jack: But I just think it'd be quite funny [2592.86] Jack: Just one day we don't tell anyone [2595.86] Jack: And then the show comes on [2597.86] Jack: And there's not one single LDO [2600.86] Jack: It's usually a complete sausage fest here [2603.86] Jack: But it would just be funny just to like [2605.86] Jack: Just six women show up, for instance [2608.86] Jack: And be like, yeah, you've got a list to us now [2610.86] Zoe: I mean, it's possible [2612.86] Zoe: It's very possible [2614.86] Zoe: So I would say like [2616.86] Zoe: Going on to that, the cool thing in Lock One is the community [2620.86] Zoe: There's a Lock One Discord that's been started up [2623.86] Zoe: And a lot of the pilots on the team are in there [2625.86] Zoe: Trying to, you know, interact with the community [2627.86] Zoe: And likewise have that whole flow of people in and out [2632.86] Zoe: The best thing that's been for me about being part of the team [2635.86] Zoe: Is the connection to all the amazing pilots [2638.86] Zoe: That I knew in the community [2640.86] Zoe: But didn't have a chance to interact with a lot [2642.86] Zoe: Like the fact that I get to train with some of these amazing pilots [2647.86] Zoe: And have a reason to train with them [2649.86] Zoe: Or with the freestyle contest [2651.86] Zoe: Like there's meetings every two weeks [2653.86] Zoe: About holding more of them [2655.86] Zoe: And just having something to coalesce around [2658.86] Zoe: And to work with other amazing women in the industry on [2663.86] Zoe: Has been like one of the most amazing things coming back in a few weeks [2668.86] Zoe: For me, especially when I started [2671.86] Zoe: I felt very lonely [2673.86] Zoe: And coming back, I don't feel like that as much anymore [2677.86] Tony: That's good, very good [2679.86] Jack: Makes you realize that there's people who, yeah [2685.86] Jack: Although they didn't get involved [2688.86] Jack: Or don't feel like they can do much for you [2690.86] Jack: There is people that sit there and literally wait for you [2694.86] Jack: And, you know, not including myself [2700.86] Jack: Like Frank will sit there and just observe [2704.86] Jack: And he's silently cheering for you [2707.86] Jack: And we're just here for just hoping things will get better [2713.86] Jack: You know, I, you know, I'm in a transitional period [2720.86] Jack: I'm not doing too good [2722.86] Jack: You know, you're not alone [2724.86] Jack: You know, it's like no karma [2727.86] Jack: It's like where do I get one of those stickers [2730.86] Jack: I haven't got access to those stickers at the moment [2732.86] Jack: They're packed somewhere [2733.86] Jack: I don't know where they are [2735.86] Jack: But if and when I get back on my feet [2738.86] Jack: I'll try and remember if you sent me an email [2741.86] Jack: And it'll be a nice day where I can just send you one of those stickers for free [2747.86] Jack: And you're doing the right thing [2750.86] Jack: You know, you keep going [2752.86] Jack: That's all we ask you to do [2754.86] Jack: Just be here [2756.86] Jack: And hopefully it will get better [2759.86] Jack: You know, because we... [2760.86] Jack: Well it has already [2762.86] Jack: Yeah, you know, we just... [2765.86] Jack: We worry about it [2766.86] Koel: You have to say any steps forward is better than none, right [2769.86] Koel: Even if it's a centimetre of a half of a millimetre step forward [2773.86] Koel: It's something, right? [2775.86] Jack: Yeah [2777.86] Jack: I mean, Cole was getting tubby [2779.86] Jack: And now he's like jacked [2780.86] Jack: If you want to have a real good day [2782.86] Jack: I know you don't bat for that team [2784.86] Jack: But if we could convince Cole to take your shirt off [2786.86] Jack: It's... [2787.86] Jack: Yeah, yeah, yeah [2788.86] Zoe: I'm always maintained I'm bisexual, OK [2790.86] Zoe: I bat for me [2791.86] Zoe: Oh, I didn't know [2792.86] Jack: You're like touching grass [2794.86] Jack: I thought it was like a lesbian movement over here now [2798.86] Jack: What? What? [2799.86] Jack: It's either that or you were having to go after me naked [2802.86] Tony: Get out of the basement, touch the grass [2809.86] Tony: It was an actual thing, Jack [2811.86] Tony: Go and touch actual grass [2813.86] Jack: I know, I know, I know [2815.86] Jack: Look at the grass [2816.86] Jack: The bite of grass [2817.86] Jack: This is all we had a month [2819.86] Jack: When he had the FBV digital [2823.86] Jack: It was the individual bite of grass [2827.86] Tony: It still is great but [2829.86] Tony: I need to put my goggles on [2831.86] Tony: I need to get back and have a little fly I think [2834.86] Tony: But the thing is in England [2838.86] Tony: It's the weather as well [2840.86] Tony: It's not stopped raining since October [2842.86] Tony: It's literally wet everywhere [2844.86] Tony: It's horrific [2846.86] Zoe: No, you say this [2848.86] Zoe: You say this, coming back in FPV you asked earlier [2850.86] Zoe: About the advances in FPV [2853.86] Zoe: And I will say [2855.86] Zoe: 16 to 20 gram whoops [2858.86] Zoe: Fly like five inches now [2860.86] Zoe: I've seen motherf***ers trippy spinning [2863.86] Zoe: And doing crazy s*** with them [2865.86] Zoe: That I never thought a micro of that scale could do [2868.86] Zoe: In an environment as small as indoors [2872.86] Zoe: So like I feel that [2874.86] Zoe: And honestly I feel like there's going to be more indoor FPV [2876.86] Zoe: Especially going into the future [2878.86] Zoe: Virtual events, simulated events [2881.86] Zoe: And indoor events I think are going to become more of a norm [2886.86] Zoe: Especially with rules and regulations [2888.86] Zoe: Being so weird across different countries [2890.86] Zoe: I mean [2891.86] Zoe: Like right now [2893.86] Zoe: For example, and this is something I will say [2895.86] Zoe: Like the last event I went to [2899.86] Zoe: There was an FAA agent that did show up [2901.86] Zoe: And he turned away from anything [2905.86] Zoe: Because he knew we were being safe [2908.86] Zoe: But too that no one had the ability [2911.86] Zoe: To follow the rules if they wanted to [2913.86] Zoe: It was hard for pilots to get access to remote ID modules [2916.86] Zoe: And things like that [2918.86] Zoe: Even so, still, remote ID modules were around [2921.86] Zoe: But it's really, really hard [2924.86] Zoe: With these rules and regulations for pilots to conform [2929.86] Zoe: And at the same time, the rules and regulations [2931.86] Zoe: That have been added over the last several years [2934.86] Zoe: Don't make the skies any safer [2937.86] Zoe: And that's the thing that frustrates me the most [2939.86] Zoe: Is that [2941.86] Zoe: The safety profile of these machines is huge [2944.86] Zoe: And to regulate them away [2947.86] Zoe: Is such a disservice to the world [2952.86] Zoe: I'm hoping that we still have a chance to [2954.86] Zoe: One, tell regulators what makes sense [2957.86] Zoe: And two, for our voices to coalesce and be heard [2960.86] Zoe: Because with any legislature [2964.86] Zoe: Any kind of rules and regulations [2966.86] Zoe: Rules can always be changed [2968.86] Zoe: They can always be adapted [2970.86] Zoe: And what is today might not be tomorrow [2975.86] Zoe: But we also have to push for what we want as a community [2979.86] Zoe: And we're going to have to push even harder now, unfortunately [2983.86] Jack: Speaking about remote ID and forced getting into the FlowState [2988.86] Jack: I did enjoy you on the FlowState documentary [2994.86] Zoe: I have yet to watch it [2996.86] Zoe: Okay, that's small [2998.86] Zoe: I was supposed to be interviewed for that documentary [3001.86] Zoe: And I was very sick when I was supposed to be interviewed [3004.86] Zoe: And could not be interviewed [3005.86] Zoe: So because of that, I felt kind of sad [3007.86] Zoe: That I've never got a chance to be in it properly [3009.86] Zoe: So I never watched it because of that [3013.86] Jack: It's available on Plex [3015.86] Jack: And you appear during the [3021.86] Jack: The protest, you're on the podium giving the speech [3025.86] Zoe: I've heard it was good [3027.86] Jack: Yeah, it was [3029.86] Jack: It made you sound very powerful [3032.86] Jack: That's what I felt anyway [3034.86] Zoe: That watch it, I reckon [3035.86] Jack: Yeah [3036.86] Zoe: I was told by my co-workers at the time [3038.86] Zoe: Which, by the way, I was working for a government contractor [3042.86] Zoe: I was told by my co-workers to not go to that protest [3047.86] Zoe: I went, still, because it was important [3049.86] Zoe: It was important for the community to hear that [3053.86] UNKNOWN: Yeah [3054.86] Jack: But, yeah [3055.86] Jack: That's so important [3058.86] Jack: How was your time that wrote, Roy? [3061.86] Zoe: Good, I mean, honestly, no major complaints [3064.86] Zoe: I wish I got a chance to do more of it [3066.86] Zoe: I wish it was, I mean, I know [3068.86] Zoe: At one point in time, Drew and the team were reaching out to me [3071.86] Zoe: When I was in a much more rough state [3074.86] Zoe: And I wasn't in any position to really go to my own page [3077.86] Zoe: A few years ago when they started them back up after COVID [3083.86] Zoe: And I just, I've kind of fallen out of contact with most of the team [3087.86] Zoe: Like, I know a lot of them care [3089.86] Zoe: They just didn't know how to help and or what to do [3092.86] Zoe: And or had the capacity to help at the time, I think [3097.86] Zoe: Yeah, like, I don't know [3099.86] Zoe: I don't have any ill feelings towards anyone [3102.86] Zoe: I really do love everyone there [3104.86] Zoe: And the new crop of people at Road Right seem pretty freaking cool [3108.86] Zoe: Stacey, I've really had a chance to hang out with her much [3111.86] Zoe: But for nothing but amazing things that matter [3114.86] Zoe: And yeah, no, it's cool beans [3118.86] Zoe: I won the few Road Right pilots that I feel like left, right [3121.86] Zoe: And didn't cause a table to get flipped [3123.86] Zoe: Or I didn't make a giant drama mess out of things [3126.86] Zoe: And I've always been behind, you know, not smack talking them [3131.86] Zoe: Because it's hard, like, it's hard to be [3134.86] Zoe: It's hard to make a business out of something like FPV [3138.86] Jack: And it has to make money, that's the problem [3141.86] Jack: It has to [3143.86] Jack: And honestly, I feel bad for Drew [3145.86] Zoe: I feel horrible for Drew [3147.86] Zoe: Drew took on the job of trying to make that reality [3150.86] Zoe: And in the process of that, I feel like [3153.86] Zoe: I feel like that's, you know, changed a little bit of [3156.86] Zoe: How he views the world around him and everything else [3159.86] Zoe: And how he has to operate as a human being [3161.86] Zoe: And at least visually watching videos [3166.86] Zoe: He's a different person now than he was when he got into it [3169.86] Zoe: And I'm hoping he can find his childliness again [3174.86] Koel: You know what the same business changes things [3177.86] Koel: Business definitely changes things for sure [3180.86] Zoe: Yeah [3182.86] Zoe: Drew, let's say that as out of love [3185.86] Zoe: Like, I've seen how it's like [3189.86] Zoe: I wouldn't say soul sucking [3190.86] Zoe: But I see how, like, you have to do what you do to make things happen [3193.86] Zoe: And that's difficult [3195.86] Zoe: I think that's also what doesn't even roll on his head [3198.86] Zoe: It's just the industry in general [3199.86] Zoe: It's really, really hard for hobby companies to turn it into a profitable business [3204.86] Zoe: And even the biggest businesses have a hard time turning a profit [3208.86] Zoe: While also trying to stay true to the community [3210.86] Zoe: It is a mere impossible balance [3213.86] Zoe: And I do not envy any of the FPV companies right now [3218.86] Jack: Yeah [3219.86] Jack: I think he does, you know, a really good job [3223.86] Jack: All things considered [3225.86] Jack: Yeah, I know, I know [3226.86] Zoe: I just think it's stressful [3227.86] Zoe: It's stressful to try to maintain that balance [3229.86] Zoe: It's extremely stressful [3230.86] Jack: Yeah [3231.86] Jack: I still think he should have actually, you know, been like [3234.86] Jack: Yes, I will be the bad guy [3236.86] Jack: I just found a group of violets [3238.86] Jack: I just spent, you know, a couple of seasons just tormenting them [3242.86] Jack: Kind of like the BBC directors to Top Gear [3246.86] Jack: You know, it's right [3248.86] Jack: Enjoy [3249.86] Zoe: I'm glad that hadn't happened [3251.86] Zoe: You know, my tie on where it was always fun [3253.86] Zoe: Like I treated it like a vacation [3255.86] Zoe: Like I was going to go make fun content with some amazing people that I loved [3259.86] Zoe: And still love, like all the pilots I hung out with [3262.86] Jack: Like [3263.86] Zoe: Yeah [3264.86] Zoe: It's [3265.86] Zoe: And this is something I'll even give, like DRL an odd to [3270.86] Zoe: Because DRL announced that their whole initiative for March was to try to encourage more women to get into racing [3277.86] Zoe: And they're doing their own initiatives [3279.86] Zoe: And I think one of the main areas of them not doing [3282.86] Zoe: Very happy to at least see them [3284.86] Zoe: Quote unquote trying [3286.86] Zoe: Is [3287.86] Zoe: That's the thing [3288.86] Zoe: In order to get more people [3290.86] Zoe: More women and whatnot [3292.86] Zoe: In the spotlight [3294.86] Zoe: They have to be in the spotlight [3296.86] Zoe: And there has to be more people welcomed into the fold [3300.86] Zoe: And, you know, Drew's really done a great job of trying to mix [3304.86] Zoe: A very diverse cast of people in FPV on the road to Riot [3308.86] Zoe: And I've, you know, seen him in that [3310.86] Zoe: And it's been really cool to see, you know [3313.86] Zoe: Yeah [3314.86] Zoe: And I think more companies need to take that kind of stance [3318.86] Zoe: And really try to diversify [3320.86] Zoe: Because the community of FPV is very diverse [3322.86] Zoe: But the corporateization or the corporate end of the drone industry is less so [3328.86] Zoe: And [3330.86] Zoe: It [3331.86] Zoe: They're two different ends of the spectrum [3334.86] Zoe: And they kind of meet in the middle somewhere [3337.86] Zoe: And there's a lot of friction [3341.86] Jack: I think one of the important things to remember with Riot Riot [3344.86] Jack: Is the [3347.86] Jack: The fact that it documents [3349.86] Jack: Like the [3351.86] Jack: The uptick of FPV [3354.86] Jack: And some of the key people [3357.86] Jack: Like, especially like [3360.86] Jack: Something I've really struggled with [3363.86] Jack: With watching FlowState [3365.86] Jack: Was, yeah, it's a FPV film about like what [3370.86] Jack: You know, the negative side [3372.86] Jack: Like the negative outcome of Remote ID [3375.86] Jack: But I feel that FPV and its community have got [3381.86] Jack: Has got the strength to overcome any sort of restrictions or [3388.86] Jack: You know, difficulties [3391.86] Jack: But [3393.86] Zoe: This too shall pass [3395.86] Zoe: I feel like Remote ID will become lesser of an issue over time [3398.86] Jack: Yeah [3400.86] Jack: Yeah, like once [3402.86] Jack: Yeah, people, you know [3404.86] Jack: It was like when cars first come out [3406.86] Jack: You've got to have a person waving a flag in front of it [3409.86] Jack: To know why the people have gained it [3411.86] Zoe: Well, most people in FPV right now are more recent [3413.86] Zoe: And they, at least American pilots [3416.86] Zoe: A lot of them don't remember when the FAA started requiring pilots [3419.86] Zoe: Put their FAA number on the chance [3422.86] Zoe: And that was like a whole thing [3424.86] Zoe: People were like, oh my god, I'm forced [3426.86] Zoe: And a lot of the same rhetoric was around then that there is now [3431.86] Zoe: The difference is that these RAD modules add weight complexity [3436.86] Zoe: And they're expensive [3438.86] Zoe: And it doesn't, at the end of the day, add any more safety to the airspace [3443.86] Zoe: Than putting a sticker with your number on it [3446.86] Jack: Yeah, and also, it's fantastic for stalkers [3450.86] Jack: You know, because like a license plate [3453.86] Zoe: Yeah, you should really get in on that [3456.86] Zoe: Because there's a lot of privacy rights probably being violated [3459.86] Zoe: By the rules and regulations [3461.86] Zoe: Not laws that the FAA is trying to implement [3465.86] Zoe: And there's laws that could very well be at contention [3469.86] Zoe: With these rules and regulations when it comes to privacy rights [3473.86] Zoe: That's something as someone who's had a stalker [3476.86] Zoe: Scares the shit out of me [3478.86] Zoe: I've also known someone, a female pilot, who was held at gunpoint [3482.86] Zoe: And had her stuff stolen [3485.86] Zoe: So safety is a huge issue when it comes to being a pilot of a drone already [3491.86] Zoe: And I don't know [3494.86] Zoe: That whole privacy end of remote ID sits very, very unwell with me [3501.86] Jack: Yeah, that is something that I feel that me and Tony might do [3507.86] Jack: Is buy a load of silly string [3510.86] Jack: And just be like, this week, we're going to take a week off [3514.86] Jack: And we're just going to drive and silly string attack [3518.86] Jack: People trying to fly FPV [3521.86] Jack: So we'll go up to them [3523.86] Jack: We'll have an iPad or whatever it takes [3525.86] Jack: And look and see [3527.86] Jack: And drive to the nearest person who's flying FPV [3531.86] Jack: Wait till they land [3533.86] Zoe: And then there's the version we have right now [3536.86] Zoe: The version we have right now, you have to be in close proximity already [3540.86] Zoe: To be able to pick up on it [3543.86] Zoe: Standard IRD and also getting Lance approvals and whatnot [3547.86] Zoe: That's a whole different thing [3548.86] Zoe: So as a hobbyist, you have a little more safety [3552.86] Zoe: But as a part 107 pilot, if you are following the rules and regulations [3559.86] Zoe: It adds a whole other level of safety factor that becomes a concern [3565.86] Zoe: And I don't know if the FAA is willing to take responsibility for someone getting hurt on the ground [3573.86] Zoe: While they're trying to save people from getting hurt in the airspace [3577.86] Zoe: And I think there's a bigger reality of them getting hurt on the ground at this point in time [3581.86] Zoe: Especially the way the world is [3583.86] Zoe: Than a drone 10 years plus into the consumer revolution causing an issue at this point [3590.86] Zoe: But that's just my opinion [3593.86] Jack: Unfortunately, that is all we got time for [3596.86] Jack: So it's been a while since I've been doing these [3601.86] Jack: And I thought, you know what, that was a good show [3603.86] Jack: And firstly, I think that you made that a good show [3607.86] Jack: Thank you [3609.86] Jack: I haven't felt like this for a long time [3611.86] Zoe: Thank you for having me on it now [3613.86] Jack: You are always welcome [3615.86] Jack: You're always here [3618.86] Jack: Would you like to tell people about your actual new Discord, your Patreon [3626.86] Jack: Do a bit of self promotion [3628.86] Jack: And also the new projects you're working on, the girls [3634.86] Zoe: Yeah, to plug my stuff [3637.86] Zoe: Brokenprop.shop or brokenpropshop.com has linked to my Discord, has linked to my Patreon [3642.86] Zoe: Has some stickers and I sell pre-built unicorns if people want to order a custom drone [3648.86] Zoe: And likewise, coaching, that's available as well [3652.86] Zoe: As far as projects, Mach 1, GoFall, Mach 1 on social media [3656.86] Zoe: I am not the voice of Mach 1, I am just one of many pilots that help make it happen [3661.86] Zoe: GoFall allowed those amazing women [3664.86] Zoe: Because honestly, there's a lot of people and a lot of amazing women in the community that no one really knows about [3671.86] Zoe: And or supports, and I feel like, you know, they deserve support [3676.86] Zoe: So, you know, GoFall and Mach 1 [3678.86] Zoe: And if you're a corporate sponsor and you think I'm too volatile to sponsor, go sponsor Mach 1 [3684.86] Zoe: Diane, the team mom, she's got her shit together [3687.86] Zoe: She's not me [3688.86] Zoe: She can keep me in line [3689.86] Zoe: Go sponsor Mach 1 to do cool stuff [3691.86] Zoe: Because yeah, no, I think that team deserves influx of money and funds to go do cool stuff in the industry [3700.86] Zoe: And to make cool things happen for not only the team, but for the industry at large [3704.86] Zoe: And I know the chances of a sponsor hearing us are very low [3708.86] Zoe: But you know what, I'm putting it out into the world because you've got to dream [3713.86] Zoe: And if we don't have dreams, you don't get anywhere [3715.86] Zoe: So, yeah, that's right [3720.86] Zoe: But yeah, I think that covers it [3723.86] Jack: No worries [3724.86] Jack: You've been listening to Let's Drone Out [3727.86] Jack: It has been an absolute pleasure to have Zari FPV [3730.86] Jack: Go follow her [3732.86] Jack: Subscribe [3734.86] Jack: She's on YouTube [3736.86] Jack: She's one of the pillars of the community [3741.86] Jack: Somewhere next to final guide Oz [3745.86] Jack: Bruce [3748.86] Jack: Chad [3751.86] Jack: Like an Australian family [3753.86] Jack: I like this [3754.86] Jack: Yeah [3756.86] Jack: Yeah, Steel [3759.86] Jack: A lot of the guys are true [3762.86] Jack: Who else is Boris B?
