[0.0] Jack: Hello, and you're listening to Let's Drone Out, a special thank you to our lovely patrons
[6.28] Jack: that help donate so that we can pay the editor to remove the swear words and silly things
[11.36] Jack: we say.
[13.0] Jack: Massive thank you to...
[14.36] Jack: Carlos Campos!
[16.2] Jack: Art Faulkner!
[17.84] Frank: Sam Dahmer.
[19.68] Frank: On with the show.
[20.68] Koel: Hello, and the trees are covered.
[21.68] Koel: Let's drone out now.
[22.68] Jack: Hello, and you're listening to Let's Drone Out.
[55.12] Jack: Tonight we are joined by our Lord Master, Andrew S. Frank.
[58.4] Jack: Hello.
[59.4] Jack: The man with the moustache, Stephen.
[61.08] Jack: Good evening.
[62.08] Jack: My good friend, Cole.
[64.4] Jack: Howdy.
[65.4] Jack: And my darling wife, Tony.
[67.4] Jack: Bonjour.
[68.4] Jack: And I'm Brian Todafly.
[70.4] Jack: Hello.
[71.4] Jack: Fantastic news, everyone.
[72.4] Jack: Cole, you scumbag.
[73.4] Jack: You like DGI.
[74.4] Jack: Go for it.
[75.4] Koel: Do I like DJI, though?
[76.4] Koel: Really?
[77.4] Koel: Is that a thing?
[78.4] Koel: You've given them enough money, so...
[79.4] Koel: Have I, though?
[80.4] Koel: How much money have I really given them?
[88.4] Koel: Oh, that's a good question.
[89.4] Koel: I don't know.
[90.4] Koel: Not much, actually.
[91.4] Frank: Is that a number you want recorded and published on air?
[94.4] Frank: Or is that something you need to keep secret?
[97.4] Koel: No, I mean, to be honest, I don't think I've...
[100.4] Koel: I think the only drone I've ever bought, like, retail price of DJI is, like, the Phantom 3SE.
[108.4] Koel: How many have you bought secondhand, then?
[114.4] Koel: Mavic Pro.
[115.4] Jack: You've owned the most products, though, surely.
[118.4] Koel: Okay, so I've owned the Phantom 3SE, the Phantom 3 Pro, the Mavic Pro, now the DJI Mini 2.
[131.4] Koel: I don't own any of those other ones except for the Mini 2 now.
[136.4] Koel: And then, like, camera stabilizers.
[138.4] Koel: But, yeah, I guess I'm a bit of a DJI.
[142.4] Koel: I've just bought air units.
[143.4] Stephen: I've never actually owned a DJI drone, you see.
[146.4] Stephen: So I'm ill-equipped to speak for their actual drones.
[150.4] Koel: Yeah.
[151.4] Koel: What about you, Tony?
[152.4] Tony: I've got...
[153.4] Tony: I had the Phantom 1, Phantom 2.
[159.4] Tony: I've got a 3 Professional in there.
[162.4] Tony: I've got a Inspire.
[164.4] Tony: Oh, geez.
[167.4] Tony: And a Mini 2 and DJI goggles, one and a few avatar...
[173.4] Tony: A few bits.
[175.4] Tony: Air units.
[176.4] Jack: Don't forget the A units in your hexacopter and your third Mini board.
[184.4] Stephen: But do any of them allow you to see out of the back of your drone?
[190.4] Tony: Out of the back?
[192.4] Stephen: Out of the back?
[193.4] Stephen: That's the killer feature.
[194.4] Stephen: You've now got a reversing camera on the Avada 2.
[197.4] Stephen: Oh, what?
[198.4] Stephen: I thought they were saying there's a reversing camera or something.
[202.4] Stephen: You've got to look back, yeah.
[204.4] Stephen: Yeah.
[205.4] Stephen: Oh, wow.
[206.4] Stephen: That's cool.
[207.4] Stephen: Well, look now.
[208.4] Jack: So, for anyone not clued in, the Avada 2 has just dropped.
[213.4] Tony: Dom, dom, dom.
[215.4] Tony: I know.
[216.4] Tony: All my subscriptions, just pictures of people.
[219.4] Tony: I see shame and stuff.
[221.4] Tony: Everyone just got sent them.
[224.4] Tony: I watched...
[226.4] Tony: Was it Potato Quad or Something Potato Man?
[229.4] Tony: Potato Jet.
[230.4] Koel: Potato Jet.
[231.4] Tony: Yeah, he crashed these within about 30 seconds.
[236.4] Tony: He was crashed and down the hill.
[238.4] Koel: Was it broken after one crash or was it still okay?
[241.4] Tony: No, he had to lower himself down the hill and then get one.
[246.4] Tony: Get it.
[247.4] Tony: But apparently, it was all right.
[249.4] Koel: So, £1,300 for the full meal deal with the real controller.
[254.4] Stephen: They say that it's got improved acro performance.
[256.4] Stephen: It's got improved meal deal.
[257.4] Stephen: It is, Bridge.
[258.4] Stephen: But I don't see how the acro performance would be better unless...
[264.4] Stephen: What they actually mean is that they didn't stick the props
[267.4] Stephen: underneath the body of the quad this time, I think.
[270.4] Tony: Apparently, you can dive now with it.
[272.4] Stephen: Without it, like, flipping out.
[274.4] Tony: Yeah, apparently, you can put it in manual mode
[277.4] Tony: and fly it proper FPV and dive and stuff like that.
[280.4] Stephen: I mean, you could dive on the previous one.
[282.4] Stephen: What you couldn't do was pull out the dive.
[284.4] Stephen: Right.
[285.4] Stephen: But you could absolutely dive and it would be absolutely in control
[288.4] Stephen: until that moment when you sat on the throttle at the bottom of the dive
[291.4] Stephen: thinking, right, enough of this.
[292.4] Stephen: I don't want to say hello to Mr Field.
[294.4] Stephen: And Mr Field will just hit you right in the face.
[297.4] Tony: What is it supposed to be?
[299.4] Tony: Is it supposed to be what we use them for?
[302.4] Tony: You know, it's not...
[304.4] Koel: Well, I don't know.
[305.4] Koel: It's a hybrid, I feel like.
[306.4] Koel: I feel like it's like, it's like, hey, if you want a...
[310.4] Koel: It's a rich kids toy.
[311.4] Koel: Yeah, it's like a rich kids toy.
[313.4] Koel: Or like, but it can be used for...
[316.4] Koel: Like, I don't know.
[317.4] Koel: I was watching the DJI like promo video and it was like in the desert
[321.4] Koel: and certain shots or whatever, like on sand dunes and whatever.
[324.4] Koel: And man, it actually looked like really good quality.
[327.4] Koel: Like the onboard recording on it looked actually really nice, to be honest.
[331.4] Koel: I was just watching on my phone.
[333.4] Koel: I didn't see it on my computer.
[335.4] Stephen: Recording quality is going to be great.
[337.4] Stephen: They had good recording quality already, right?
[339.4] Stephen: I wouldn't really fault the 03 quality,
[342.4] Stephen: but it was just like the flight characteristics, I guess.
[345.4] Stephen: And you're still fundamentally flying something that's not really durable.
[351.4] Stephen: So you're going to have a great time for a couple of weeks
[354.4] Stephen: and just that the instant you break it, you're going to face one hell of a repair bill.
[360.4] Stephen: And it kind of says, I want to go out and fly,
[363.4] Stephen: but I don't understand how to repair this stuff.
[366.4] Stephen: So, you know, like buying that brand new sports car
[368.4] Stephen: and then just trashing and being like, oh, well, I guess that was fine.
[371.4] Stephen: No more car for me.
[373.4] Koel: Yeah. Yeah.
[375.4] Koel: Well, you know, I think if you use it the way that...
[379.4] Koel: And I'm using this in like parentheses, the way you should use it,
[383.4] Koel: it's going to be great.
[384.4] Koel: If you're going to use it as a full out freestyle acro drone,
[388.4] Koel: then you're going to hate it and it's going to suck.
[392.4] Koel: But for chill cruising and flying through stuff and, you know...
[399.4] Stephen: So why is it better than having a Cinewoop then?
[403.4] Koel: Well, I think in a lot of ways, like the...
[407.4] Koel: I mean, this is my opinion, obviously, but Cinewoop is good
[411.4] Koel: and it's technically better in some ways, but also worse in other ways, you know,
[418.4] Koel: with these avadas or whatever, they have the motion...
[423.4] Koel: or not the motion detection, the obstacle avoidance,
[426.4] Koel: and they have all these like...
[429.4] Koel: Basically, all these parameters where it's just so easy to use that, you know...
[434.4] Koel: Say someone wants to do a real estate fly through,
[436.4] Koel: you could probably do one way easier with an avada
[439.4] Koel: than you could with a Cinewoop,
[441.4] Koel: because you see all these guys on these forums with the Cinewoop
[444.4] Koel: doing real estate fly throughs,
[446.4] Koel: and all it is is just bobbing up and down the whole time
[448.4] Koel: and it looks like...
[450.4] Koel: And with a... say something like an avada,
[454.4] Koel: you don't even have to put it in full acro mode,
[456.4] Koel: you could just fly it through in regular mode and boom, it looks beauty, right?
[461.4] Koel: So, yeah, I don't know.
[463.4] Koel: I think for... I don't know.
[468.06] Koel: For people that don't want to get too into it,
[470.06] Koel: like how we do with FPV, it's the perfect thing, honestly.
[473.06] Koel: Except, you know, you can't fix it, but then again,
[476.06] Koel: people that don't want to get too deep into it like we do,
[479.06] Koel: they're not even going to know how to fix stuff anyways,
[481.06] Koel: so they're going to leave it to the companies to deal with anyway.
[484.06] Koel: So, I don't know.
[486.06] Tony: Are they lighting goggles then?
[488.06] Koel: Yep, yeah, it looks like the Goggles 3, I think they're called,
[491.06] Koel: where they have like an adjustable head.
[494.06] Koel: Yeah, they look nice, they look comfy.
[497.06] Koel: Yeah, apparently they're better,
[500.06] Koel: although supposedly the diopters or the diopter adjustments on it
[505.06] Koel: are not quite as...
[507.06] Koel: they don't go as high or low as the previous Goggles.
[511.06] Tony: They move quite easily, apparently.
[513.06] Koel: Yeah, so I guess, you know, you can probably fine tune it
[516.06] Koel: with that little head strap or whatever the hell you want to call it,
[520.06] Koel: but yeah.
[523.06] Tony: So, hopefully we're going to get an O3 kit
[527.06] Tony: so we can FPV stuff, isn't it?
[529.06] Stephen: Yeah, although what that gives you isn't really clear.
[532.06] Stephen: They're saying a little bit of a range boost,
[534.06] Stephen: but it's not a dramatic range boost.
[536.06] Stephen: It's like 10 to 13, 10k to 13k.
[540.06] Koel: But like, I guess the thing is,
[543.06] Koel: all these ratings and whatnot for, you know, up to 13 kilometers,
[548.06] Koel: it's like, who is flying in Nevada 13 kilometers away long range?
[552.06] Koel: Nobody's doing that.
[554.06] Koel: So, like, yeah, it's a very silly thing.
[558.06] Koel: And I guess with the laws too,
[560.06] Koel: with keeping things in a visual line of sight and whatnot,
[562.06] Koel: like, you can't actually do a range test
[564.06] Koel: unless you want to break some laws.
[566.06] Tony: Maybe it gives you more penetration.
[568.06] Stephen: What they've probably done is just put the antenna through
[571.06] Stephen: like an antenna optimization suite,
[573.06] Stephen: done some modeling on it and just, you know,
[575.06] Stephen: they've gotten an extra few percent
[577.06] Stephen: by not having a rushed antenna design
[579.06] Stephen: that they did for the first of all to...
[581.06] Stephen: Yeah.
[583.06] Tony: I hear you can change.
[585.06] Tony: Sorry.
[586.06] Tony: I hear you can change from 5.8 to 2.4 as well.
[589.06] Tony: You can get the first one.
[591.06] Tony: You could.
[592.06] Tony: Yeah.
[593.06] Tony: Oh, you could do the first one as well.
[594.06] Koel: You could.
[595.06] Koel: Although there's a difference apparently now with this one.
[598.06] Koel: I think it was...
[601.06] Koel: I can't remember exactly because I just barely listened to it
[604.06] Koel: while I was driving.
[607.06] Koel: But I think it was something like...
[610.06] Koel: You can change...
[611.06] Koel: Because the 2.4, that's for control and whatnot, right?
[614.06] Koel: But I think you can actually do the video on 2.4 now.
[617.06] Koel: Yeah, that's what I mean.
[618.06] Koel: Yeah, yeah.
[619.06] Koel: Okay.
[620.06] Jack: So what is it doing, like 9.15 for the control?
[625.06] Stephen: Probably not.
[626.06] Stephen: It's probably just using the same channel for both at a thought.
[630.06] Tony: Well, it only gives you one channel.
[632.06] Stephen: It's got bi-directional, hasn't it?
[634.06] Stephen: So it could just use the same loop for video and control
[639.06] Stephen: because it's already going in both directions for the video.
[642.06] Tony: So 2.4 would give you much more penetration,
[646.06] Tony: but the gap one is pretty small, isn't it?
[652.06] Koel: Oh, Caroline Tyler.
[653.06] Koel: She's saying the Avada 2 does not have obstacle avoidance,
[656.06] Koel: which is kind of strange though,
[657.06] Koel: because when I was watching this promo video for it,
[662.06] Koel: it looked like it just kind of stopped abruptly before.
[665.06] Koel: But maybe that's just like if you take your hands off the motion controller,
[668.06] Koel: it stops quickly before you crash.
[670.06] Stephen: Is that like Tesla-style marketing where they're like,
[673.06] Stephen: yeah, absolutely.
[674.06] Stephen: It's an intelligent flying product.
[676.06] Stephen: Yeah.
[677.06] Stephen: And they just walk it up to the lesser of the law.
[679.06] Tony: And you can't switch to 2.4 in the UK.
[683.06] Tony: Well, not legally.
[684.06] Tony: Not legally.
[685.06] Tony: Yeah, we know that.
[686.06] Tony: But I'm sure there's going to be someone figuring out stuff
[691.06] Tony: to put in it so you can do it.
[693.06] Tony: Oh, yeah.
[694.06] Stephen: Punch it through a VPN or whatever, you know.
[698.06] Stephen: Yeah.
[699.06] Koel: I'm sure it's already been hacked.
[702.06] Stephen: I checked the video, some posts about the video stuff,
[706.06] Stephen: and they say it uses the original one was D-Cine-like,
[711.06] Stephen: which is what we have with the O3 and the Avada head as well,
[714.06] Stephen: which gives you like what the camera guys would refer to as a Rec. 709.
[719.06] Stephen: That specifies like the width of the color palette that you've got.
[723.06] Stephen: Yeah.
[724.06] Stephen: So it basically gives you that.
[726.06] Stephen: And they're saying with this one, they've improved it.
[728.06] Stephen: But then if you go searching the first thing I'm finding,
[731.06] Stephen: so I'm posting on DJI forums and Reddit where they say that they've upgraded
[736.06] Stephen: to this D-Log M standard.
[738.06] Stephen: Yeah.
[739.06] Stephen: Apparently the full D-Log standard is really good,
[742.06] Stephen: but they've upgraded to the cut down version of it.
[744.06] Stephen: So you end up with something that's basically the same as D-Cine-like.
[747.06] Stephen: Yeah.
[748.06] Stephen: The video quality is the same on D-Log M and D-Cine-like,
[752.06] Stephen: although they've just changed the branding basically.
[755.06] Koel: Well, you see, with all these different picture profiles,
[760.06] Koel: the most I have experienced with that was actually with the original DJI Mavic Pro
[765.06] Koel: because the original Mavic Pro actually had like almost 5 or 10 different picture profiles.
[771.06] Koel: You had like these almost like baked in sort of like type of looks,
[775.06] Koel: but you also had Cine-like, you had D-Log.
[778.06] Koel: It wasn't called D-Log M at that time.
[780.06] Koel: I don't think it was just called D-Log.
[781.06] Stephen: That's because it's a different thing.
[782.06] Stephen: The D-Log and D-Log M are different standards,
[784.06] Stephen: apparently, and it sounds like the D-Log M is like a cut down,
[789.06] Stephen: narrower version of D-Log, so it just ends up looking the same as the D-Cine-like.
[793.06] Koel: D-Cine-like.
[794.06] Koel: Well, and that was the thing for me.
[796.06] Koel: I tried D-Log before, and this was all when the Mavic Pro was only shooting 8-bit video,
[803.06] Koel: and I never had good results from 8-bit log footage,
[809.06] Koel: so I always use Cine-like for the most part
[811.06] Koel: unless I was just experimenting with the other ones.
[814.06] Koel: But yeah, if it's 10-bit and you expose it properly and you shoot logs,
[821.06] Koel: then that's great.
[822.06] Koel: But yeah, I mean, I'm actually interested to hear more about that
[826.06] Koel: because I have to do a little research.
[827.06] Koel: I should probably hit you up on some of this
[829.06] Stephen: because I was taking a whole bunch of 10-bit footage out of that,
[832.06] Stephen: and I just hit the most atrocious compatibility issues.
[837.06] Stephen: My TV can definitely play HDR.
[839.06] Stephen: I watch, like, HDR movies on it.
[841.06] Stephen: It's fine.
[842.06] Stephen: But trying to find something that would play back my HDR
[845.06] Stephen: and play it at 120fps HDR as well, it was a tall order.
[851.06] Stephen: Like, 120fps, 4K HDR, everything just spat the dummy,
[856.06] Stephen: and I couldn't get it to work.
[857.06] Stephen: Just chug away, right?
[858.06] Stephen: Yeah, like 30 seconds,
[861.06] Stephen: and then show me a frozen frame of video and then crash.
[865.06] Stephen: Yeah.
[866.06] Tony: I don't think it shoots in 24 frames either.
[869.06] Koel: No, probably not.
[871.06] Koel: The old Avada and the O3s don't either.
[873.06] Stephen: Well, you have the routine where your capture frame rate
[877.06] Stephen: was tied to the goggles frame weight.
[879.06] Stephen: So you could go down to 30,
[881.06] Stephen: but then you're looking at 30fps FPV, which is bad.
[887.06] Koel: Yeah, I mean, I wonder...
[889.06] Koel: I don't know if you had this conversation before,
[892.06] Koel: but I'm curious what the quote-unquote frame rate
[895.06] Koel: of analog video is,
[897.06] Koel: because it's not a frame rate, obviously, right?
[899.06] Koel: Because it's not a digital signal.
[901.06] Koel: But it's...
[906.06] Koel: I mean, it goes by scan lines, I guess,
[908.06] Koel: but that's more of, like, TV alpha resolution.
[910.06] Koel: So I don't know.
[912.06] Koel: I don't actually understand that.
[914.06] Koel: I don't know.
[915.06] Koel: Like, do you guys know anything about frame rate for analog,
[917.06] Koel: or if that even exists?
[919.06] Stephen: That's too much, Cole. Absolutely too much.
[922.06] Stephen: Yeah.
[923.06] Stephen: So it's fields per second, not frames per second,
[926.06] Stephen: and you've got two fields making up one frame, right?
[929.06] Stephen: So the standard analog thing was even lines odd lines,
[933.06] Stephen: and they just alternate, right?
[936.06] Stephen: And so each one of those was turned a field,
[939.06] Stephen: and that's how you get interlacing,
[942.06] Stephen: because you need an algorithm that takes these two fields
[945.06] Stephen: and then turns it into a frame,
[948.06] Stephen: which is how you get progressive video.
[950.06] Stephen: And then you have to futz around with all that
[952.06] Stephen: and figure out...
[954.06] Stephen: Because the fields were perhaps recorded
[956.06] Stephen: at slightly different times,
[958.06] Stephen: you've got a field combined in a way
[960.06] Stephen: that makes it look like the fields are in the same place,
[963.06] Stephen: and you don't get zigzags down.
[965.06] Stephen: Yep.
[966.06] Stephen: Yeah.
[967.06] Koel: And it's just a whole...
[969.06] Koel: Like the old tape camcorders and stuff,
[971.06] Koel: if you move too fast, you see that kind of jaggedy edge.
[973.06] Koel: That's exactly right.
[974.06] Koel: See, I actually did know all this stuff,
[976.06] Koel: but I didn't know it from a technical, like, word verbiage.
[979.06] Koel: Ah, okay.
[981.06] Frank: I was expecting Jack to jump in
[983.06] Frank: and start talking about phosphor glow.
[985.06] Frank: Yeah, and it'll just hit it,
[986.06] Stephen: because basically the displays that you're looking at,
[988.06] Stephen: as Jack would tell you, I'm sure,
[990.06] Stephen: the displays were just dog...
[992.06] Stephen: Is that the correct term, Jack?
[996.06] Stephen: Pretty much, yep.
[997.06] Koel: Made of cheese.
[999.06] Koel: Made of cheese, yeah.
[1001.06] Jack: That's how I liked it.
[1003.06] Frank: Diffuse.
[1004.06] Frank: I'm waiting for Jack to reach around
[1006.06] Frank: and pull out this massive CRT
[1008.06] Frank: that he's just spent lots of money on on eBay.
[1010.06] Frank: Juicy.
[1014.06] Tony: Is it right?
[1015.06] Tony: No goggles have got GPS in as well.
[1018.06] Tony: Remote ID.
[1019.06] Stephen: Remote just GPS.
[1021.06] Stephen: Whole nine yards, mate.
[1023.06] Stephen: They'll take a blood sample
[1024.06] Stephen: and send your DNA to the local police for analysis
[1028.06] Stephen: with the tag wrongen on it.
[1031.06] Koel: You guys want to hear something interesting
[1035.06] Koel: and especially coming from me as an analog diehard
[1039.06] Koel: is I may actually consider getting this Avada 2.
[1044.06] Tony: Really?
[1045.06] UNKNOWN: Maybe.
[1046.06] Koel: Who are you?
[1047.06] Koel: I might, I don't know.
[1048.06] Tony: What do you know of this?
[1051.06] Stephen: Do they get compromising materials on you
[1053.06] Stephen: while you're out in Taiwan?
[1055.06] Koel: Are you now a member of the DJI subcommittees?
[1059.06] Koel: No, no.
[1060.06] Koel: I don't know.
[1061.06] Koel: It's just I watched this one video
[1062.06] Koel: and the quality looked really good
[1064.06] Koel: and I was like, damn, this is kind of cool.
[1067.06] Stephen: Yeah.
[1068.06] Stephen: I mean, I'm sure it's good.
[1069.06] Stephen: Just don't crash, right?
[1070.06] Stephen: That's a, that's why I said it's a rich kid's toy.
[1072.06] Stephen: Like it does everything it's set up.
[1075.06] Stephen: Yeah.
[1076.06] Stephen: There's very little to tweak,
[1077.06] Stephen: but you're going to pay for it.
[1078.06] Stephen: You're going to get the care package.
[1079.06] Stephen: You're straight up going to pay for it.
[1080.06] Tony: Just pay to the care package.
[1082.06] Tony: Just send your new one next week.
[1084.06] Stephen: Yeah.
[1085.06] Stephen: As long as you like over a grand yourself.
[1087.06] Stephen: You're going to start with, right?
[1088.06] Stephen: It's like 1300 quid to get up in the air.
[1090.06] Koel: Yeah.
[1091.06] Koel: But think of how much it costs to build your own drone
[1093.06] Koel: and get everything set up for your own DIY build, man.
[1096.06] Koel: It's like the same price.
[1097.06] Koel: Like, I don't know.
[1099.06] Frank: Are you thinking of this in the context
[1101.06] Frank: of your professional work for making videos, Cole?
[1105.06] Koel: Well, yes and no.
[1108.06] Koel: The only thing, like my gripe with anything DJI
[1112.06] Koel: is that like this geofencing crap
[1115.06] Koel: where like you could go to a job and then all of a sudden,
[1118.06] Koel: like you can't take off because you're within whatever's
[1121.06] Koel: unless you do some unlock thing.
[1123.06] Koel: And like that really like obviously you start
[1126.06] Koel: to follow the regulations and not fly, you know,
[1128.06] Koel: stupid places and whatever.
[1130.06] Koel: But I don't know.
[1132.06] Tony: I had to put in my telephone number the last time I was near.
[1136.06] Tony: That way.
[1139.06] Tony: It's only done Gatwick.
[1144.06] Tony: I'm going, going, taking my ball.
[1147.06] Tony: I'm going home.
[1149.06] Tony: No, can't leave us.
[1152.06] Tony: Anyway, I was near a football stadium
[1156.06] Tony: and I had to literally wouldn't take off.
[1159.06] Tony: So I had to put my number in.
[1161.06] Tony: And I mean, my question, like, OK,
[1165.06] Koel: so with this whole people hating on remote I.D.
[1169.06] Koel: and like or having to put your phone number in to do unlocks
[1175.06] Koel: and that like doesn't actually like unless you're
[1179.06] Koel: being a complete douchebag and doing things you're not
[1181.06] Koel: supposed to do like if you're if you're going to fly it
[1183.06] Koel: and do things you're not supposed to do,
[1185.06] Koel: you're not going to put your phone number in and unlock it.
[1187.06] Koel: So if you're going to unlock it to do something
[1190.06] Koel: and you're and you're flying responsibly or reasonably like
[1193.06] Koel: then that should be fine.
[1195.06] Koel: Shouldn't it like.
[1197.06] Tony: Shouldn't doing photographs of the roof was only two stories up.
[1201.06] Tony: Yeah.
[1202.06] Tony: So I didn't I didn't even have to go on.
[1204.06] Koel: Yeah.
[1205.06] Koel: So it's like, I don't know.
[1207.06] Koel: I mean, I'm definitely with you or with the people that are like,
[1210.06] Koel: why do I have to put this information in just to fly my friggin toy drone
[1215.06] Koel: or like little sub 250 anything.
[1217.06] Koel: It just it just seems a little bit strange.
[1220.06] Koel: But I don't know.
[1222.06] Koel: It's just I guess it's just the way things are going now.
[1225.06] Koel: Right.
[1226.06] Koel: So I remember I remember one time it was like I don't know if it was
[1232.06] Koel: the Mavic Pro or wait.
[1235.06] Koel: What was it?
[1236.06] Koel: Oh, oh, this is what it was.
[1237.06] Koel: Okay.
[1238.06] Koel: So yeah, I remember I was trying to fly like a Mavic Pro or Mavic
[1241.06] Koel: Mini inside my apartment and then I was like, well,
[1244.06] Koel: I'm going to go off the balcony for a second.
[1246.06] Koel: And then like as soon as I like went past my balcony,
[1249.06] Koel: it was like, no, you can't be flying here.
[1253.06] Koel: And then it like started landing by itself and I had to like reach over
[1256.06] Koel: and like I like basically the propellers were like cutting my hands up
[1260.06] Koel: because I had to grab my drone because it wouldn't go up any higher.
[1264.06] Koel: Yeah.
[1265.06] Koel: So that was that's that's one reason why I really dislike the whole geo
[1269.06] Koel: fencing craft because it cut my hands up.
[1271.06] Koel: Damn it.
[1274.06] Jack: It's a bit naughty, isn't it?
[1275.06] Jack: Imagine having a car like that where you drive it somewhere
[1280.06] Jack: and then you go to get back in it and suddenly like the laws changed
[1286.06] Jack: or an aircraft flies over.
[1288.06] Stephen: You've got to push in the next 50 yards.
[1290.06] Jack: Or it doesn't have quite a good enough GPS signal.
[1294.06] Jack: So it thinks you're somewhere else.
[1296.06] Jack: And it just suddenly goes, no, I'm a paperweight.
[1299.06] Jack: I'm not doing anything.
[1300.06] Jack: You've bought me, you own me.
[1303.06] Jack: You're a responsible adult, but I say no.
[1306.06] Stephen: It's like like what happens in video games, right?
[1309.06] Stephen: There was a quote by EA or some, you know, captain of industry douchebag
[1313.06] Stephen: who said that people have got to get used to not owning things.
[1317.06] Stephen: And the reason people have got to get used to not owning things and not having
[1321.06] Stephen: control of them is because that's the way you get more money out of people.
[1325.06] Stephen: And in the corporate world, the line must go up.
[1328.06] Stephen: The line must continue to go up.
[1330.06] Jack: Can you imagine that as a fire extinguisher?
[1332.06] Jack: You got to a fire extinguisher.
[1334.06] Jack: You go to a fire and it just goes, no, you're not my owner.
[1339.06] Jack: I'm not operating.
[1340.06] Jack: You might be, you know, it just goes GPS failure.
[1344.06] Stephen: This could be in a dangerous situation.
[1346.06] Stephen: And you're like, no GPS failure.
[1348.06] Stephen: There's a fire.
[1349.06] Koel: Yeah.
[1350.06] Koel: But when was the last time you saw flying, playing fire extinguisher?
[1354.06] Stephen: I mean, it's dangerous piece of equipment.
[1356.06] Stephen: The same thing applies, right?
[1358.06] Jack: So could you imagine the fire extinguisher calling you to enter your phone number
[1363.06] Jack: and home address burning down.
[1367.06] Koel: And it's like, can you please put your phone number in before you save the
[1370.06] Stephen: please, please complete the easy five minute video on fire extinguisher usage
[1377.06] Koel: prior to you.
[1379.06] Koel: You start your phone out like this is sort of side stepping here.
[1387.06] Koel: But how do these DJI drones get GPS locks so fast?
[1392.06] Koel: I'm curious about that.
[1394.06] Koel: They track you.
[1395.06] Koel: Chinese spy satellites.
[1399.06] Stephen: Oh, you mean the balloons?
[1400.06] Stephen: No idea.
[1401.06] Frank: Does it use your phone app to like preload there?
[1405.06] Stephen: That's probably, that would be a sensible thing.
[1408.06] Frank: Yeah.
[1409.06] Koel: That makes absolute sense.
[1411.06] Koel: Yeah.
[1412.06] Stephen: And they probably manage the GPS Almanac because you, you can do stuff like
[1416.06] Stephen: prewarming the Almanac.
[1417.06] Stephen: Whereas we never do that as hobbyist users.
[1419.06] Stephen: We just wait for it to be built every time.
[1421.06] Stephen: Whereas if you've got a computer attached to it, you've got something else.
[1425.06] Stephen: Well, that makes sense.
[1428.06] Stephen: Yeah.
[1429.06] Stephen: Okay.
[1430.06] Stephen: That makes sense.
[1431.06] UNKNOWN: I wish you could just.
[1432.06] Stephen: This picture that I throw up here, who can spot something different with this
[1435.06] Stephen: one?
[1437.06] Frank: It's got screws.
[1439.06] Stephen: It's not just got screws, but it's another something quite obvious that you've
[1444.06] Stephen: probably seen.
[1445.06] Jack: It requires you to enter your phone number to change props.
[1450.06] Jack: There must be genuine DJI.
[1452.06] Stephen: It's got a couple of M2 screws and a T-mount prop, mate.
[1455.06] Stephen: Yeah.
[1456.06] Stephen: That is a standard T-mount prop on a DJI drone.
[1461.06] Koel: Dum, dum, dum.
[1463.06] Stephen: All the times and how they're changing.
[1465.06] Stephen: So instead of paying like 30 quid for a set of props, you can now just grab a set
[1469.06] Stephen: of gem fans for two quid.
[1471.06] Frank: Is that actually confirmed?
[1472.06] Frank: It is definitely the standard and not like half a millimeter.
[1476.06] Stephen: 2.2 millimeters or something.
[1479.06] Stephen: Yeah.
[1480.06] Stephen: Yeah.
[1481.06] Stephen: Or you need that orange bit in the center as a Dow.
[1484.06] Stephen: Well, we'll find out soon.
[1485.06] Tony: They're slightly offset.
[1486.06] Stephen: How long will it take a 3D print mold to appear if that is the case?
[1491.06] Koel: Well, my other question then too about these propellers, like people I see, they
[1494.06] Koel: would upgrade on the regular Avada.
[1496.06] Koel: They'd get the propeller and the motor upgrades and stuff.
[1498.06] Koel: Well, I mean, these quads are kind of like pre-tuned and pre-built to spec with
[1506.06] Koel: those specific props, right?
[1507.06] Koel: So are you going to like, what are the flight characteristics and how is it going
[1511.06] Koel: to affect it if you put on non-standard props?
[1514.06] Koel: I guess we're going to find out.
[1516.06] Koel: Yeah.
[1519.06] Koel: Yeah.
[1520.06] Koel: Also, but how often are you going to destroy those kind of props on a ducted
[1524.06] Koel: quad?
[1525.06] Koel: Is it pretty easy?
[1526.06] Koel: I've never flown a ducted quad before.
[1528.06] Tony: I've still got the same ones on one.
[1530.06] Stephen: I've never braked props on works.
[1532.06] Stephen: They're like, it's really hard to break them.
[1535.06] Stephen: Yeah.
[1536.06] Stephen: On your paper shreddertoning.
[1538.06] Jack: Yes.
[1539.06] Jack: Is it true what Andy R.C. is saying?
[1543.06] Jack: So if you buy this cold, no Vista and no O3 support.
[1549.06] Jack: So you can't even use the new goggles.
[1552.06] Koel: Yeah.
[1553.06] Koel: Yeah.
[1554.06] Koel: Oh, four air unit.
[1556.06] Stephen: Obviously, they say it may be added later.
[1558.06] Stephen: So it probably means wait eight months.
[1561.06] Stephen: And then once we've got goggles, once we've rinsed the market and forced
[1567.06] Stephen: everyone with spare cash to upgrade, we might think about dropping
[1570.06] Stephen: compatibility in a patch.
[1573.06] Koel: Honestly, I'd say the only real thing, I don't even care about the backwards
[1577.06] Koel: compatibility compatibility thing because with DJI, that's basically, you
[1583.06] Koel: already have to go into it knowing that they're going to bend you over
[1586.06] Koel: anyways in that regard.
[1587.06] Koel: So like, I mean, hypothetically speaking.
[1592.06] Koel: It's between consenting adults.
[1594.06] Koel: Yeah.
[1595.06] Koel: But at the same time, it's like, I think the biggest thing for me is
[1600.06] Koel: honestly just the fact that if I want to go fly somewhere, I might have to
[1605.06] Koel: put in credit card and telephone information to fly my freaking drone.
[1609.06] Koel: That's like the stupidest thing I've ever heard.
[1611.06] Koel: I get it.
[1612.06] Koel: They want to...
[1613.06] Koel: Again, this is my opinion.
[1615.06] Koel: Any views in blah, blah, blah, blah expressed.
[1618.06] Koel: I don't know.
[1619.06] Koel: It's just like if I want to fly my tiny little quad somewhere that's not
[1627.06] Koel: close enough to an airport or a helipad or whatever, it's like why do I...
[1634.06] Koel: I don't know.
[1635.06] Koel: It doesn't make sense to me.
[1636.06] Koel: And maybe it's because I came from the early days of DJI where that
[1640.06] Koel: didn't really exist.
[1642.06] Koel: And then now that's like kind of like standard, but I don't know.
[1646.06] Stephen: This reminds me of a post I saw recently that actually came out a while
[1650.06] Stephen: back when people were talking about printers.
[1652.06] Stephen: And you know how HP are kind of like DJI for the printer world.
[1656.06] Stephen: But they just might try and monetize everything and be a complete pain to
[1661.06] Stephen: their customers.
[1662.06] Stephen: Yeah.
[1663.06] Stephen: It was this article off the Verge, which is the brother of whatever it is,
[1668.06] Stephen: everyone has it.
[1669.06] Stephen: It's in the back of everyone's video calls.
[1671.06] Stephen: And the quote on the right just absolutely named it.
[1674.06] Stephen: The brother of whatever it is will print return labels for online shopping,
[1678.06] Stephen: never run out of toner, and generally be a printer instead of the physical
[1682.06] Stephen: instantiation of a business model.
[1684.06] Stephen: And that's what I kind of think we're discussing here with the Avada 2,
[1687.06] Stephen: that it's kind of the physical instantiation of the business model part
[1691.06] Stephen: is starting to show up right.
[1694.06] Stephen: And it's looking more and more like this is a way for DJI to gather data
[1699.06] Stephen: about you and kind of reach into your pockets and generally, you know,
[1705.06] Stephen: jab you with the ribs and say, look, no one else is making one of these.
[1708.06] Stephen: You're running out of choices.
[1710.06] Koel: Yeah.
[1711.06] Koel: Yeah.
[1712.06] Stephen: I don't know.
[1713.06] Jack: Because the labels are the ink.
[1715.06] Jack: Is it a thermal printer?
[1717.06] Stephen: No, it's just a laser printer that's got effing massive cartridges,
[1721.06] Stephen: unlike the HP ones where they just nickel and dime you and give you tiny
[1725.06] Stephen: cartridges and then charge ludicrous amounts to them.
[1728.06] Stephen: These are a color printer.
[1729.06] Stephen: No, it's a mono laser.
[1731.06] Stephen: It's a mono laser.
[1732.06] Koel: There's a freaking HP printer right here that like what you do is you just go
[1737.06] Koel: to the random Joe Schmo printer ink place and you get refills for like a
[1741.06] Koel: third or fourth of the price.
[1742.06] Koel: Yeah.
[1743.06] Koel: But the stupidest thing about it is the cartridges like you think when you buy
[1747.06] Koel: an ink cartridge, the whole thing is like full of ink, right?
[1750.06] Koel: No, it's a little sponge that's like soaked up the tiniest,
[1753.06] Koel: babiest amount of ink.
[1754.06] Koel: And then that's what it is.
[1755.06] Koel: And that's why it runs out because that sponge dries up over time.
[1759.06] Koel: And it's like so stupid.
[1762.06] Koel: Yeah.
[1763.06] Jack: That's why I don't buy rocket fuel.
[1767.06] Stephen: Yeah.
[1768.06] Stephen: It costs more than gold per weight printer ink, HP printer ink specifically.
[1773.06] Stephen: And yeah, you and I call I'm lumbered with an HP printer.
[1778.06] Stephen: Someone else bought and I refuse to interconnect internet connected.
[1781.06] Stephen: I wire up via USB to like some little router that I've got that runs Linux.
[1786.06] Stephen: And that's how I get it on the network.
[1788.06] Stephen: And I buy knockoff cartridges, but most people they're like, oh, oh, it's
[1794.06] Stephen: it's it's 70 pounds for a cartridge.
[1796.06] Stephen: I guess I'll just pay it.
[1798.06] Stephen: And so goofy.
[1799.06] Stephen: That's how they get it.
[1800.06] Koel: And then in three months and three months it dries out and they're like, oh, no,
[1804.06] Koel: I guess it's all out of ink.
[1805.06] Koel: I better get another one.
[1806.06] Stephen: And that's because they've got like a massive presence in the market where
[1809.06] Stephen: people walk into a shop and they're like, oh, I guess I just have to buy this
[1813.06] Stephen: because I don't understand the concept of choice.
[1816.06] Stephen: Well, with DJI, like if you want something that does this, unless you can
[1820.06] Stephen: build it yourself, there's no choice.
[1822.06] Stephen: Yeah, there's no choice.
[1824.06] Koel: No, no.
[1825.06] Koel: But I guess my my question is, is if they're the only ones doing it or the
[1833.06] Koel: whatever, why is there no competition?
[1836.06] Koel: Why are there no other companies trying to do that?
[1839.06] Koel: And then it I guess maybe just because they don't have the resources or just
[1843.06] Koel: the R and D and that goes into it or to know they've all given up.
[1847.06] Stephen: Right.
[1848.06] Stephen: Or they've been bought out and then like teal, they're doing military
[1851.06] Stephen: hardware.
[1852.06] Stephen: Right.
[1853.06] Stephen: Yeah.
[1854.06] Stephen: Redcap had a few of them and they kind of just gave up.
[1857.06] Stephen: Yeah.
[1858.06] Stephen: Moved over to do military and security services hardware.
[1862.06] Koel: Yeah, I guess I guess it's like I always think of DJI as the apple of
[1868.06] Stephen: drones and I mean, yeah, massively vertically integrated, complete
[1877.34] Stephen: lockdown.
[1878.34] Stephen: Yeah.
[1879.34] Stephen: Yeah.
[1880.34] Stephen: A monopoly.
[1881.34] Koel: Yeah.
[1882.34] Koel: And and it's like everybody wants a Mac.
[1885.34] Koel: This is our quotes.
[1886.34] Koel: And I know Steven's going to cringe at this.
[1888.34] Koel: Everybody wants an app or Mac at Mac computer.
[1891.34] Koel: Everybody wants a DJI drone.
[1893.34] Koel: It's like, you know, it's just kind of like in terms of like, you know,
[1902.34] Frank: the the Apple devices were originally sort of, or at least from my
[1907.34] Frank: perspective, originally sold on being like really good for like graphics
[1910.34] Frank: design and things like that.
[1911.34] Frank: I felt like the guy is a similar kind of.
[1914.34] Frank: Yeah.
[1915.34] Frank: Personality of like, that's that's the sort of angle there.
[1919.34] Stephen: That's the angle they originally went for.
[1921.34] Stephen: And I think they're actually, interestingly enough, Frank, they
[1924.34] Stephen: followed the same trajectory because Apple, if you look at their
[1927.34] Stephen: latest stuff that if you're doing video production, you're kind of
[1930.34] Stephen: hamstrung if you're doing an Apple because all of the products use
[1933.34] Stephen: a tailored towards people who want something that looks pretty when
[1936.34] Stephen: they're sitting in expensive cafes and not really a massive number
[1941.34] Stephen: crunching thing that can take a hundred gig video file and just
[1946.34] Stephen: strip strip it of data and run through it and convert it.
[1949.34] Koel: You know, it's not unless you drop unless you drop 10 K plus.
[1953.34] Koel: Yeah.
[1954.34] Koel: Yeah.
[1955.34] Koel: Yeah.
[1956.34] Koel: Yeah.
[1957.34] Koel: And I think if you want a serious Mac machine that can do that,
[1959.34] Koel: you got to spend upwards of $5,000 easily.
[1962.34] Koel: Yeah.
[1963.34] Stephen: It almost feels DJI is going through the same thing.
[1965.34] Stephen: But there were really video production tools and now they're kind of
[1971.34] Stephen: looking cool toys, a bit like a fancy Mac is now.
[1975.34] Stephen: I don't know.
[1976.34] Stephen: What do you guys think of that?
[1977.34] Stephen: Are they fancy toys rather than serious tools?
[1980.34] Koel: Well, it depends which level of DJI stuff you're talking about because
[1985.34] Koel: the inspires and these like crazy agricultural quads and matrices.
[1993.34] Koel: Yeah, exactly.
[1994.34] Koel: What is it?
[1995.34] Koel: Like the Tigris or Tagris or something it's called and like their
[1999.34] Koel: their higher end stuff is used on like, you know,
[2004.34] Koel: actual commercial and professional basis,
[2006.34] Koel: whether it's agriculturally cinema cinema stuff or whatever police police.
[2012.34] Koel: Exactly.
[2013.34] Koel: Like technically all the stuff that we're getting in the consumer side of it,
[2018.34] Koel: whether it's the Mavics or these little avadas or the minis and whatever,
[2023.34] Koel: we're getting the trickle down of the actual good stuff, right?
[2028.34] Koel: And it's getting hyped up with marketing and people love it.
[2032.34] Koel: And it makes sense because it is like you can't deny it is cool tech and
[2037.34] Koel: they're packaging it in such a way that it's enticing to the general,
[2042.34] Koel: you know, population or anybody who's into this kind of stuff.
[2045.34] Koel: So anybody that doesn't want to dive too deep, I mean, it's like,
[2049.34] Koel: $1,300 bucks, $1,500 bucks.
[2051.34] Koel: Like, sweet.
[2052.34] Koel: I can get a cool drone and I can do cool stuff with it.
[2055.34] Koel: And if it breaks well, then I've got DJI care and they'll fix it.
[2059.34] Koel: And what do you do?
[2061.34] Frank: This episode was recorded in front of a live online audience,
[2064.34] Frank: downloaded and edited to make sense when it played audio only,
[2068.34] Frank: censored to please the iTunes people hosted on the internet,
[2071.34] Frank: forwarded through to your podcast provider,
[2073.34] Frank: downloaded playing on your device and is now playing in your ears.
[2076.34] Frank: All thanks to our Patreons.
[2078.34] Frank: Consider joining them and you'll also get other online benefits.
[2082.34] Frank: Find out more at patreon.com forward slash.
[2085.34] Frank: Let's drone out.
[2087.34] Tony: I want an agricultural drive.
[2091.34] Tony: And they're massive.
[2093.34] Tony: They're huge.
[2094.34] Tony: There's a company in America that go to farmer's fields and literally
[2098.34] Tony: they've got hotswap batteries.
[2100.34] Tony: They just put on that field and fill the drone up with the pesticides.
[2105.34] Tony: Yeah.
[2106.34] Tony: They probably planned it yesterday because you can do it all the day
[2109.34] Tony: before and then just go and it takes off.
[2111.34] Tony: Flies does a bit.
[2113.34] Tony: Come back, hotswap the batteries top up.
[2115.34] Tony: Boom, dude.
[2116.34] Koel: They're insane.
[2117.34] Koel: Yeah.
[2118.34] Koel: I think it's called like it's a DJ DJI Agris or something.
[2121.34] Koel: There's like I do.
[2123.34] Koel: They're like $40,000 and I was watching videos of people like holding
[2127.34] Koel: onto it and like going for a fly,
[2129.34] Koel: holding onto these big industrial kind of drones.
[2132.34] Frank: But the interesting thing is like that kind of application where you're
[2137.34] Frank: in the middle of nowhere,
[2138.34] Frank: it's over a field that's like not got any roots over it.
[2141.34] Frank: Like you wouldn't really,
[2143.34] Frank: you wouldn't need any particular certification, right?
[2147.34] Frank: What you would need is insurance because in the UK,
[2151.34] Frank: you need a commercial level of insurance.
[2154.34] Frank: You need like a commercial aviation insurance to do anything in the UK
[2160.34] Frank: with drones that earns you more than like a pint of beer worth of benefit.
[2166.34] Frank: So speaking of which.
[2169.34] Frank: Yeah, exactly.
[2170.34] Frank: And there's been this announcement this week from FPV UK that they have
[2177.34] Frank: upgraded their insurance to be up to this commercial aviation standard.
[2183.34] Frank: So entertainingly, it covers like hijack and it covers all this kind of
[2189.34] Frank: stuff that you're like, yeah, it's not really an issue for a quad,
[2194.34] Frank: but it's the legal requirement.
[2197.34] Frank: And now FPV UK cover it as sort of as standard as part of the system,
[2205.34] Frank: which is, you know, that's pretty cool.
[2208.34] Koel: Yeah.
[2209.34] Koel: I was curious about the pricing because I remember when I was in the UK,
[2213.34] Koel: wait, was it last year or no, it was a couple of years ago now.
[2216.34] Koel: I got the insurance or whatever through FPV UK,
[2220.34] Koel: but I'm wondering if the prices go up in the last little bit or.
[2225.34] Frank: I think they have gone up a bit, but not a huge amount.
[2228.34] Frank: I mean, it's still like for the basic level, it's 25 pounds a year.
[2232.34] Frank: I mean, that's to be covered commercially up to 15,000 pounds a year turnover.
[2243.34] Frank: So, you know, by that point, you can probably afford to spend a bit more.
[2247.34] Koel: Yeah.
[2248.34] Koel: Totally.
[2249.34] Koel: Totally.
[2250.34] Koel: And 5 million pounds liability on public and product liability coverage.
[2254.34] Koel: That's not too shabby.
[2257.34] Stephen: Yeah.
[2258.34] Stephen: Yeah.
[2259.34] Stephen: Absolutely.
[2260.34] Stephen: Do Gatwick again, perhaps.
[2263.34] Frank: You know, it's a real selling point.
[2266.34] Frank: They can absolutely have over the BMFA because for a long time,
[2270.34] Frank: it's been sort of a contest between the BMFA and FPV UK as to what FPV pilots go for.
[2278.34] Frank: And yeah, now FPV UK can say, well, you know,
[2282.34] Frank: ours is A, cheaper and B.
[2285.34] Stephen: I mean, come on.
[2288.34] Koel: The sticker.
[2289.34] Koel: Don't forget about the sticker.
[2291.34] Stephen: Don't forget a lot of BMFA people don't know how to use a phone.
[2294.34] Stephen: So that plastic membership card will have them coming over and drive.
[2298.34] Stephen: They can put it in their wallet.
[2300.34] Stephen: Yeah.
[2301.34] Tony: I want to suck my handles with that.
[2306.81] Frank: Yeah.
[2307.81] Stephen: Yeah.
[2308.81] Stephen: The handles would give parity to the two offerings, in fact.
[2311.81] Frank: Yeah.
[2316.81] Frank: I can imagine quite a lot of people might be going out and buying an Avatar 2 and FPV UK insurance at the same time.
[2324.81] Frank: Yeah.
[2325.81] Frank: As they should.
[2326.81] Frank: FPV UK, I think, are actually planning to release a sort of early hands-on review of the Avatar 2 shortly.
[2337.81] Frank: Oh, really?
[2338.81] Frank: There you go.
[2339.81] Frank: If you're on YouTube currently, you can go to the FPV UK channel and subscribe and be notified about that.
[2345.81] Koel: Yeah.
[2346.81] Koel: I thought it was 20.
[2347.81] Koel: Yeah.
[2348.81] Koel: I thought it was 20 pounds when I...
[2349.81] Stephen: Yeah.
[2350.81] Stephen: It pings me with the higher price.
[2351.81] Stephen: And I just thought it was a bit steeper than I remember it being.
[2356.81] Stephen: But never mind.
[2357.81] UNKNOWN: Yeah.
[2358.81] Frank: It's like 25 pounds.
[2360.81] Frank: Yeah.
[2361.81] Koel: Yeah.
[2362.81] Koel: It's not...
[2363.81] Koel: People spend more on that in a month or in like a week on coffee.
[2366.81] Koel: So like...
[2367.81] Koel: Yeah.
[2368.81] Koel: Yeah.
[2369.81] Koel: How many fancy beers is that, Tony?
[2371.81] Tony: For me, three.
[2375.81] Tony: Three nice beers, 25.
[2378.81] Tony: It's well on the way.
[2380.81] Koel: Yeah.
[2381.81] Koel: It is interesting, though.
[2382.81] Koel: Like, these topics are...
[2384.81] Koel: It's definitely a topic of discussion.
[2386.81] Koel: And it's good to talk about, I guess, because, you know, it has to be done.
[2393.81] Frank: I saw Caroline, who has been confirming a lot of things in the chat, most of which is things
[2400.81] Frank: that we've said that are wrong about the Avatar 2.
[2403.81] Frank: Yeah.
[2404.81] Frank: But Caroline has confirmed...
[2408.81] Frank: Caroline does confirm that it is standard fitting for the props.
[2411.81] Frank: So there you go.
[2413.81] Frank: That's a nice thing.
[2415.81] Stephen: Accurate journalism.
[2416.81] Stephen: That's what we stand for here.
[2418.81] Koel: Accurate journalism.
[2420.81] Koel: Oh, actually, sorry.
[2421.81] Koel: This is one thing we didn't talk about on the Avatar 2.
[2426.81] Koel: You know that...
[2427.81] Koel: So not in acro mode, but apparently in like the normal flight modes, there's now the switch
[2433.81] Koel: or the...
[2434.81] Koel: There's a little button where it will do tricks for you.
[2437.81] Koel: Yeah.
[2438.81] Koel: Press the button and it does a roll.
[2440.81] Koel: Yeah.
[2441.81] Koel: Press the button and it does a roll.
[2442.81] Frank: It comes from the next floor where you press the button and did the direction it does a
[2446.81] Frank: little fit.
[2447.81] Frank: Nice.
[2448.81] Stephen: Yeah.
[2449.81] Stephen: This is truly what I mean about it being a bit more of a toy and less of a serious tool.
[2455.81] Koel: Well, it depends on whose hands it's in, I guess.
[2458.81] Stephen: No, it doesn't.
[2459.81] Stephen: That's a toy feature.
[2460.81] Stephen: That's straight up a toy feature.
[2462.81] Koel: Yes.
[2463.81] Koel: But if you were to give, say...
[2465.81] Koel: I mean, I'm not even going to...
[2467.81] Koel: I don't know who to name, but if you were to give, say, a pro drone guy that drone,
[2472.81] Koel: and he's not flying it in those silly, you know, gimmicky modes, he's going to make it
[2476.81] Koel: look great.
[2477.81] Koel: Like, it doesn't matter...
[2479.81] Tony: It's definitely easier to do a shoot with one of them now than it would be with going
[2485.81] Tony: to Grover City.
[2486.81] Stephen: But, you know, the only other type of quad that gives you a press a button to do a flip
[2492.81] UNKNOWN: flip.
[2493.81] Stephen: They are like children's toys.
[2495.81] Stephen: This is not a feature found on anything outside of a children's toy.
[2499.81] Stephen: So...
[2500.81] Koel: No, you're right.
[2501.81] Koel: You're right.
[2502.81] Koel: And it's literally...
[2503.81] Koel: Again, it goes back to exactly what you said.
[2505.81] Koel: You're right about it.
[2506.81] Koel: It's a toy where you can do tricks like the real guys do, or real guys or gals, you know,
[2513.81] Koel: all inclusive over here.
[2515.81] Koel: But, you know, without having to do it manually, and you can still look cool on the internet.
[2521.81] Frank: I feel like it's when you get like a really nice camera, and then it's got like the filter
[2529.81] Frank: modes on one of the modes.
[2531.81] Frank: And it's like, oh, it turns everything into bubbles.
[2534.81] Frank: Yeah.
[2535.81] Frank: Or like goes into sepia mode.
[2538.81] Frank: Yeah.
[2539.81] Koel: What is it?
[2540.81] Koel: Black and white mirror.
[2542.81] Koel: Yeah.
[2543.81] Koel: Although my old camcorder has that like the eight millimeter camcorder.
[2547.81] Koel: And it's so fun, but you never use it.
[2549.81] Koel: It's just like...
[2551.81] Stephen: What's with these controllers?
[2553.81] Stephen: They've still got the kind of one handed sort of...
[2557.81] Stephen: I think Madstech calls it the love toy.
[2560.81] Koel: Yeah.
[2561.81] Koel: There's the new one.
[2562.81] Koel: It's the RC Motion 3.
[2564.81] Koel: I think it's called.
[2565.81] Koel: Is the vibration stronger on this one?
[2567.81] Koel: It better be.
[2569.81] Koel: The RC Motion 3.
[2571.81] Tony: Is that RC or RT?
[2576.81] Koel: Yeah.
[2577.81] Koel: DJI RC Motion 3 is the...
[2580.81] Koel: It's the new wank grip, as Jack would say.
[2583.81] Koel: Yeah.
[2584.81] Koel: Love toy, please.
[2585.81] Koel: We're professionals here.
[2587.81] Koel: Yeah.
[2588.81] Koel: That's the one that has like the little auto trick button.
[2593.81] Koel: Yeah.
[2594.81] Stephen: Nice.
[2595.81] Stephen: I guess you've got a hand free, but...
[2599.81] Koel: Where are you going with this, Steven?
[2601.81] Stephen: Where are you going with this?
[2604.81] Stephen: What are you doing?
[2605.81] Koel: Well, you know, left hand on the controller, right hand, wherever you need to be.
[2610.81] Stephen: What is that target audience?
[2612.81] Stephen: Can someone please get out there and arrest them?
[2619.81] Koel: Andy RC says easy reach around.
[2625.81] Jack: The old RC reach around.
[2628.81] Jack: Yeah.
[2629.81] Jack: What a good old noise.
[2631.81] Koel: Oh, man.
[2632.81] Koel: You never know.
[2633.81] Koel: You never know.
[2634.81] Koel: Out in the field.
[2638.81] Frank: This might be a bit unfair, but I saw earlier in the chat, there was Richard Warwick in the chat.
[2644.81] Frank: I mean, come on.
[2645.81] Frank: So as long as it has roommate ID, then he's happy.
[2649.81] Frank: I think from the smiley faces, he might not have been serious about this.
[2652.81] Frank: But I'm entirely going to take that as an excuse to have another segue into talking about the
[2661.81] Frank: luminaire entrance into the remote ID devices.
[2667.81] Frank: The luminaire released a remote ID little board.
[2674.81] Frank: And, you know, a common question in the UK as we've been talking about remote ID is like,
[2679.81] Frank: how big is it going to be?
[2680.81] Frank: How much is it going to weigh?
[2681.81] Frank: What's it going to cost?
[2683.81] Frank: And the luminaire one, yeah, it's $90,
[2690.81] Frank: which probably means like a hundred pounds at the moment.
[2693.81] Frank: Yeah.
[2694.81] Frank: Yeah.
[2695.81] Frank: Once it's actually in the UK, it weighs nine grams and it is 33 millimeters long and 16 millimeters
[2704.81] Stephen: wide.
[2705.81] Stephen: M10 GPS unit with an ESP32 slapped on the bottom.
[2709.81] Frank: Yeah.
[2710.81] Stephen: And it's got the ESP32 cost four pound.
[2715.81] Koel: So, wait, can that double as a GPS for your quad, too?
[2723.81] Frank: It's got the, you are out for the, for the GPS and the I squared C for the compass.
[2728.81] Frank: So I imagine so.
[2730.81] Frank: Yeah.
[2731.81] Koel: And it looks to be about the size of one of the old crossfires, doesn't it?
[2736.81] Stephen: Like the old, the same width as an M10, but it's probably double the length.
[2741.81] Stephen: So I guess if that's a 20 by 20, you're talking 20 by 40 ish.
[2746.81] Tony: So do I got to buy 30, three of them?
[2752.81] Koel: No.
[2753.81] Tony: Can they be hotswaps?
[2755.81] Tony: Oh, does it have to be per?
[2757.81] Koel: Yeah.
[2758.81] Koel: That's a good question.
[2759.81] Koel: Does each quad need its own RID module, like separate and registered?
[2764.81] Tony: Do I register it for me?
[2767.81] Jack: Because I'm sure the police, when they come up to you, will be like, well, that drone
[2772.81] Jack: has got a remote ID attached to it.
[2774.81] Jack: And you're like, yeah, I swapped them over.
[2776.81] Jack: And they're like, unregistered drone.
[2779.81] Jack: Yeah.
[2780.81] Frank: And this is the Bluetooth broadcasting the location, right?
[2787.81] Frank: And there's talk about when we actually implement it in the UK about it not being that way,
[2793.81] Frank: about doing it some other way, but they haven't quite worked out how.
[2797.81] Koel: So who knows?
[2799.81] Koel: Well, so Jack, back to what you were saying, when was the last time you had a cop come
[2803.81] Koel: up to you and say, what is on your drone?
[2806.81] Koel: Have you ever had cops come up to you while you're flying a drone?
[2811.81] Jack: Yeah.
[2812.81] Jack: In Valley, they visited us.
[2816.81] Frank: Really interesting.
[2819.81] Frank: Also, one time when we were down the little football field with the toilets in the rugby
[2825.81] Frank: club.
[2826.81] Frank: And also I've had it in another field that I used to fly at by Wormwood's Crubs.
[2834.81] Frank: So not entirely surprising me.
[2837.81] Jack: I've also been in COVID as well.
[2840.81] Jack: The missing persons people were like, you're coming with us.
[2845.81] Jack: We're looking for this.
[2848.81] Koel: Really?
[2849.81] Koel: Wow.
[2850.81] Jack: That blue.
[2852.81] Koel: I can't say I've ever I've never had cops.
[2855.81] Koel: I've never had a police interaction.
[2858.81] Koel: I don't think ever even once in as long as I've ever flown.
[2862.81] Koel: Yeah.
[2864.81] Jack: Yeah.
[2865.81] Jack: It was just like the commandeer was quite funny because it involved kicking Gavin into
[2874.81] Jack: his own van so that they weren't aware of him.
[2877.81] Tony: Does he smell like you're probably smelling very smelling.
[2882.81] Tony: Yeah.
[2883.81] Jack: Yeah.
[2884.81] Jack: This is what we're looking for.
[2886.81] Jack: It's going to take an hour for our guys to get here.
[2890.81] Jack: Not blue.
[2892.81] Koel: Oh, so you were flying drones for them.
[2895.81] Koel: Yeah, which sucked.
[2897.81] Koel: Jack, what are you doing?
[2899.81] Koel: That is what can you do?
[2902.81] Koel: No, I'm just kidding.
[2903.81] Koel: I'm totally joking.
[2906.81] Koel: Jackson.
[2907.81] Koel: Arc.
[2908.81] Koel: Jackson.
[2909.81] Koel: Arc.
[2910.81] Koel: No, I do.
[2912.81] Koel: If a cop came up to me and they're like, hey, we're looking for a missing person.
[2915.81] Koel: You have a drone suite.
[2916.81] Koel: Help me out.
[2917.81] Koel: What are you going to do?
[2918.81] Koel: Say you guys like.
[2921.81] Koel: Pardon.
[2922.81] Tony: They're really good at finding dogs, lost dogs.
[2927.81] Frank: Yeah, especially when you attach a sausage.
[2933.81] Tony: I'm lowering the sausage down into the woods.
[2936.81] Tony: I'm making such a great shirt.
[2941.81] Tony: We should do a batch of.
[2944.81] Tony: Attached tactical sausage.
[2949.81] Tony: Have we still got a shop?
[2951.81] Tony: Can we do this?
[2952.81] Tony: Can we make some t-shirts for the summer?
[2954.81] Tony: I need some more t-shirts.
[2956.81] Stephen: Attached sausage t-shirt.
[2961.81] Tony: There's quite a lot of designs we could do.
[2963.81] Tony: I especially want some of Jack's drawings on it.
[2966.81] Stephen: Some of which we could even get printed on a t-shirt.
[2969.81] Stephen: Yeah.
[2970.81] Stephen: We should do a range of LDO batteries that will come with the XT60 on backwards.
[2976.81] Stephen: The Y is the wrong size.
[2978.81] Frank: Just like the other colors, yeah.
[2984.81] Jack: I think we should do some t-shirts, definitely.
[2989.81] Jack: Cole did interesting battery delivery.
[2991.81] Jack: Do you want to tell us about that?
[2993.81] Jack: Oh, yeah.
[2995.81] Jack: One second.
[2997.81] Koel: I'll go grab them.
[2998.81] Jack: That was quite funny.
[3000.81] Jack: So Cole had a delivery of batteries and they wedged them into his post box.
[3009.81] Jack: And he had to just cut the box and remove the batteries because he couldn't get the whole box out.
[3017.81] Jack: So he had to remove the insides and light.
[3021.81] Tony: I don't like to see before I put in the box in there.
[3024.81] Tony: We'll be showing it.
[3025.81] Jack: I know.
[3026.81] Jack: Where is it?
[3027.81] Jack: Where did he send it?
[3028.81] Jack: Was it in the LDO?
[3030.81] Jack: I can't remember.
[3032.81] Jack: Let me find it.
[3034.81] Koel: Dude, it was so annoying.
[3035.81] Koel: So I have the tiniest little mailbox thing.
[3038.81] Koel: So the delivery guy was able to put the box in and it just fit it so perfectly.
[3045.81] Koel: Yeah.
[3047.81] Koel: I had to destroy it to get it out.
[3050.81] Koel: Because if you look on the right hand side of it, Jack, if you zoom into the right hand side of it,
[3055.81] Koel: there's almost like an edge where it'll go in, but it won't come back out because it's kind of stuck in there.
[3063.81] Koel: So I literally had to just take my key and cut the box open.
[3068.81] Koel: Actually, my hand got cut up a little bit from trying to get it out at first.
[3072.81] Koel: But yeah, I did get a new battery.
[3075.81] Koel: I got me a 3000 milliamp.
[3080.81] Jack: It seems like it shouldn't be a problem.
[3083.81] Koel: No, but if you look on the right, when it's like the proper not broken one, excuse me, it fits perfectly.
[3092.81] Koel: But there's just a little edge on the right where it will go in, but it won't come back out.
[3099.81] Koel: Yeah, I got I want to try out this lipo for my seven inch because I've only flown lithium ions.
[3108.81] Koel: It's just a 3000 GMB.
[3111.81] Koel: And I discovered what the hell these things were.
[3115.81] Koel: I'm like, what are the point of these plastic things?
[3118.81] Jack: I guess it's just to cut them off immediately.
[3121.81] Koel: Yeah.
[3122.81] Koel: It's is it useless, basically?
[3125.81] Jack: Yes, it added weight and bulk and on a seven inch easier to like come on unattached and into the line of the props.
[3136.81] Tony: Very, very short balance leads, aren't they?
[3139.81] Jack: Well, yeah, you don't want them flapping about everywhere.
[3143.81] Koel: Yeah. And I finally got some new batteries for my fat sharks finally, which is nice, which are nice and cheap.
[3154.81] Jack: I got a two barrel vector on your old one.
[3158.81] Jack: I don't know.
[3159.81] Koel: I don't know what it is, but I had some weird thing where there were a couple.
[3164.81] Koel: This was actually really messed up, really weird scenario.
[3167.81] Koel: But there was one time when I was flying and all of a sudden my goggles like stopped giving me video.
[3175.81] Koel: Like they were still technically on, but I think it wasn't giving enough power to the receiver.
[3181.81] Koel: But the luckily my buddy had my little screen next to him while he's watching my feed and I'm like, I don't have video.
[3188.81] Koel: He's like, I can still see.
[3189.81] Koel: So I like take the goggles off and I like crashed in front of.
[3193.81] Koel: Well, I got control back, but then I kind of went close to a tree and I crashed in front of like a duck little.
[3200.81] Koel: It was like a I don't even know if it was a duck, but it was like either a duck or some kind of animal fenced in area type thing.
[3207.81] Koel: And it started yelling at my drone.
[3209.81] Koel: It was like just like literally barking at it.
[3211.81] Koel: I'm like, oh, yeah, goose.
[3213.81] Koel: I think it was a goose.
[3214.81] Koel: Yeah.
[3216.81] Koel: But the good can.
[3218.81] Koel: Yeah.
[3219.81] Koel: No, this was in Taiwan.
[3221.81] Koel: Yeah.
[3222.81] Koel: I wish I you know what I want.
[3223.81] Koel: I wish I could show you.
[3224.81] Koel: Maybe I can show you.
[3225.81] Koel: Do you want to see it?
[3226.81] Stephen: Yes.
[3227.81] Stephen: We know it from now on.
[3228.81] Stephen: I don't know.
[3230.81] Koel: It's actually pretty comical.
[3232.81] Koel: I'll do it last time.
[3234.81] Koel: Did I show you guys the crash and the end?
[3237.81] Koel: Oh, it might have been after hours.
[3239.81] Koel: It might have been.
[3240.81] Koel: Yeah.
[3241.81] Tony: Well, I've seen it.
[3243.81] Koel: I wonder what's better, the DVR or the or the actual.
[3247.81] Tony: Well, you'll hear the duck dog bark on the GoPro.
[3252.81] Frank: Yeah.
[3253.81] Frank: That's right.
[3254.81] Frank: Talking of batteries.
[3256.81] Frank: I've learned how to use my battery spot welder.
[3259.81] Frank: Oh, really?
[3260.81] Frank: Spot welders and batteries.
[3261.81] Frank: Really?
[3262.81] Jack: The fish paper.
[3264.81] Frank: Yeah.
[3265.81] Frank: Yeah.
[3266.81] Frank: The fish paper arrived.
[3267.81] Frank: I was impatient and built the battery before the fish paper or heat shrink
[3272.81] Frank: turned up.
[3273.81] Frank: So I had a bomb on my kitchen table for a while.
[3279.81] Frank: Dude, that's actually really cool.
[3281.81] Koel: So you could make lithium ion packs there.
[3284.81] Koel: Exactly.
[3288.81] Koel: Because you know what?
[3290.81] Koel: What was the secret?
[3292.81] Koel: There's these new Molly cell or not.
[3294.81] Koel: I don't know how new they are.
[3295.81] Koel: But the Molly cell P 45 B lithium ion packs are like really awesome ones.
[3299.81] Koel: Apparently.
[3302.81] Koel: Let's see.
[3304.81] Frank: Yeah, I've I've heard about those.
[3306.81] Frank: I've seen people building them for putting in there like PDFs like jet
[3313.81] Frank: models.
[3314.81] Frank: Okay.
[3315.81] Frank: They're presumably pretty powerful.
[3318.81] Frank: I'm guessing.
[3319.81] Frank: Oh, that's not it.
[3321.81] Frank: You can see that there, guys.
[3323.81] Frank: Yeah.
[3324.81] Frank: I learned there was two main tricks.
[3328.81] Frank: One trick is to fully charge the spot welder thingy.
[3335.81] Frank: And the other trick was don't push too hard, which is not an
[3344.81] Frank: unintuitive.
[3347.81] Koel: Okay.
[3348.81] Koel: So okay.
[3349.81] Koel: This is it.
[3350.81] Koel: So I'm going in cold scrubbing through some video.
[3353.81] Koel: So I'm going in for the dive or whatever sort of half-assed dive it
[3358.81] Koel: is.
[3359.81] Koel: And then this little ditch kind of makes me lose video.
[3361.81] Koel: So I pop back up and then I'm just across that little river that
[3364.81] Koel: like dried river.
[3365.81] Koel: I'm on the other side of it.
[3366.81] Koel: But for some for some really weird reason right around here, I started
[3373.81] Koel: losing video.
[3374.81] Koel: Like my fat sharks just kind of went strange and I couldn't really
[3379.81] Koel: see what was going on.
[3380.81] Koel: So I didn't touch the sticks much, but then I was kind of going
[3383.81] Koel: down and I was actually about to hit the water.
[3385.81] Koel: Then my buddy's like, here, look on the monitor.
[3387.81] Koel: I was probably right around there actually.
[3389.81] Koel: But so I'm like, okay, I got to figure out where we are.
[3392.81] Koel: And again, but then I turn around.
[3394.81] Koel: I'm going to go towards us.
[3395.81] Koel: But then these scraggles were right there.
[3397.81] Koel: So I was just disarmed.
[3399.81] Koel: And then there's these ducks right here.
[3401.81] Koel: Geese yelling at me.
[3404.81] Koel: Yeah.
[3405.81] Koel: What the hell is going on thing?
[3411.81] Tony: That's rude.
[3412.81] Frank: Do not lie.
[3413.81] Frank: Is that going to be a effect where you get like the multi-par thing
[3420.81] Frank: because it bounces along the surface and so they it lines up out of
[3424.81] Frank: phase.
[3425.81] Stephen: So if you look, there was sort of 15 foot of water and the rest was
[3429.81] Stephen: just shade.
[3430.81] Stephen: I think it flew too.
[3431.81] Stephen: Yeah.
[3432.81] Frank: Yeah.
[3434.81] Frank: It's like flat enough that you get like the multi-par thing or
[3438.81] Frank: just basically anything coming in.
[3440.81] Frank: There's a big there's some great diagrams where there's like a
[3443.81] Frank: rugby ball type shape volume between your two antenna.
[3446.81] Frank: Yeah.
[3447.81] Frank: And if there's stuff in that rugby ball shape, then you end up with
[3452.81] Frank: it.
[3453.81] Frank: It multi-par thing off that and so you end up with a lower than
[3456.81] Frank: maximum signal.
[3458.81] Frank: And then so because you're usually flying a little bit higher than
[3463.81] Frank: you.
[3464.81] Frank: So it doesn't really matter so much.
[3465.81] Frank: But then when you get right down to like ground level, then a lot of
[3470.81] Frank: that rugby ball is in the ground.
[3472.81] Koel: Translation Cole, you don't stop.
[3475.81] Koel: Well, can you guys see this now?
[3477.81] Koel: Right?
[3478.81] Koel: The DVR part of it.
[3479.81] Koel: Yeah.
[3480.81] Koel: Because it was really weird case.
[3482.81] Koel: So here this, I think this is when, oh, that's not the one case.
[3485.81] Koel: So, okay.
[3486.81] Koel: Wait, here we go.
[3488.81] Koel: So that's where, okay.
[3489.81] Koel: So that's where I'm going into the, where I said I'm losing video
[3492.81] Koel: down a ditch.
[3493.81] Koel: I mean, come on.
[3494.81] Koel: Yeah, that is a chime, isn't it?
[3497.81] Koel: But that's fine.
[3498.81] Koel: So then I think you were completely where I was just across the
[3504.81] Koel: water to the left.
[3505.81] Koel: Like, I think you flew beyond that big.
[3508.81] Stephen: Yeah.
[3509.81] Stephen: I think you flew down a ditch and the wall of the earth was like
[3512.81] Stephen: between you and the ocean.
[3513.81] Stephen: Yeah.
[3514.81] Koel: No, right there.
[3515.81] Koel: Right here.
[3516.81] Koel: Look.
[3517.81] Frank: This bit.
[3518.81] Frank: Yeah.
[3519.81] Frank: That looks like a multi-part thing to me.
[3520.81] Frank: But dude, I was right there.
[3522.81] Stephen: I was right down there.
[3523.81] Stephen: We just had the HD.
[3524.81] Stephen: That stuff's all dirt.
[3525.81] Stephen: That's not even, that's just, no.
[3527.81] Stephen: No.
[3529.81] Jack: Don't take, don't take the bait because they'll start saying you
[3533.81] Jack: didn't fail safe.
[3537.81] Koel: Well, actually, I don't know if you saw that.
[3538.81] Koel: Did you see that bird fly by there on the right hand side of the
[3541.81] Stephen: screen?
[3542.81] Stephen: Decided to abuse.
[3543.81] Stephen: Oh no, that's just in you.
[3544.81] Stephen: You're like F these geese.
[3548.81] Koel: Watch this.
[3549.81] Koel: Watch this.
[3550.81] Koel: That's what my video did.
[3551.81] Koel: It went like that.
[3552.81] Koel: It literally.
[3553.81] Koel: Yeah.
[3554.81] Koel: Maybe I browned out actually.
[3555.81] Koel: Look at my, look at my voltage.
[3556.81] Koel: Maybe I've browned out.
[3558.81] Koel: What was your voltage?
[3559.81] Koel: 14.2.
[3562.81] Stephen: I'll do one of these people that runs the VTX like straight off
[3565.81] Stephen: your battery though.
[3566.81] Stephen: You're not running off the back.
[3567.81] Koel: Yeah, true.
[3568.81] Koel: But so look, so this is how long my video was gone for.
[3571.81] Koel: And then I'm looking at my buddy's screen this whole time or my
[3574.81] Koel: screen where my buddy's holding.
[3575.81] Koel: And then, but I still don't have video like this whole time.
[3580.81] Koel: It's still rolling.
[3581.81] Koel: And, but then now it comes back.
[3583.81] Stephen: And then, so this is probably why you should fly digital and not
[3587.81] Stephen: these ancient analog systems Cole.
[3588.81] Stephen: I hate to say it.
[3589.81] Stephen: You probably didn't see this coming,
[3591.81] Stephen: but I think it's time you upgrade from analog, you know?
[3595.81] Koel: Well, you know what?
[3596.81] Koel: That, that was the only time that any of that has ever happened.
[3600.81] Stephen: Talked it out.
[3601.81] Stephen: Yeah.
[3602.81] Stephen: This never normally happens.
[3603.81] Stephen: I sort it out.
[3604.81] Stephen: I can't believe this never happened to me before.
[3606.81] Stephen: Sorted out.
[3607.81] Koel: Well, it was a first and it was never happened before.
[3612.81] Koel: Oh, Andy RC saying looks like someone plugged in.
[3614.81] Koel: Hmm.
[3615.81] Koel: Maybe I was close to someone's Wi-Fi that it was overpowering.
[3618.81] Koel: That doesn't make any sense.
[3619.81] Koel: It looks pretty scary.
[3621.81] Koel: And to be fair, you got away with it.
[3624.81] Koel: Yeah.
[3625.81] Koel: I've gotten away with a few scary video loss scenarios.
[3629.81] Koel: And you didn't have to explain why someone had a dead goose,
[3632.81] Koel: which is.
[3634.81] Koel: Yeah.
[3635.81] Koel: Luckily they were fenced in.
[3636.81] Koel: That would have.
[3637.81] Koel: Yeah.
[3638.81] Koel: But so.
[3639.81] Koel: Patay.
[3640.81] Koel: Any idea what that like could have been, though, honestly?
[3644.81] Tony: I think you flew behind the mud and it went.
[3648.81] Tony: Oh, I can't see any more.
[3649.81] Tony: I can't cope.
[3650.81] Tony: Yeah.
[3651.81] Koel: I was already way past it.
[3652.81] Koel: I was already past it, though.
[3655.81] Tony: I know.
[3656.81] Koel: I know.
[3657.81] Koel: I know.
[3658.81] Tony: Well, I can see anything.
[3659.81] Tony: It could have been someone turning a quad on down the road.
[3661.81] Tony: Who knows?
[3662.81] Tony: It could have been Wi-Fi.
[3663.81] Tony: It could have been.
[3666.81] Tony: Anything.
[3668.81] Stephen: Well, the aircraft process overheated me anyway.
[3672.81] Koel: Sorry.
[3673.81] Koel: Well, I what I did was so that was the tramp.
[3676.81] Koel: That was that was a naked tramp, that dirty, naked little tramp.
[3679.81] Koel: I took that out and I put in a rush solo tank and no issues since then.
[3685.81] Koel: So, yeah.
[3687.81] Tony: Yeah, it could have been.
[3688.81] Tony: Yeah.
[3689.81] Tony: It's just gone the way out.
[3690.81] Tony: Could have been.
[3691.81] Tony: It could have been loads of things.
[3692.81] Tony: This is the problem with.
[3694.81] Jack: My betting is if you take your old factory apart, I think it's the barrel
[3701.81] Jack: connector.
[3703.81] Koel: But with the barrel connector could not that doesn't seem plausible because
[3709.81] Koel: goggles were still on.
[3711.81] Koel: Yeah, it was.
[3713.81] Tony: Don't leave it.
[3716.81] Koel: Huh?
[3717.81] Koel: It does.
[3718.81] Koel: It does.
[3719.81] Koel: And Andy, I see saying black screen on analog is usually someone turning
[3721.81] Koel: on or voltage voltage is too high for brownout.
[3724.81] Koel: And the other side of it, too, was I use that same quad for the next week
[3730.81] Koel: flying at Bandos, flying on the side of a mountain, a bunch of stuff
[3735.81] Koel: and no issues.
[3736.81] Koel: So, yeah, just really odd and it scared the crap out of me.
[3740.81] Koel: It was literally the it was we were going on a feeling ever when you
[3744.81] Tony: can't see when you're flying like this.
[3746.81] Koel: I think that was the first time that was the first time that anything
[3750.81] Koel: that seriously bad happened.
[3752.81] Koel: And that was my first pack when we were going on a trip around the island.
[3756.81] Koel: And that was like my first actual flight.
[3758.81] Koel: And I'm like, oh, great.
[3759.81] Koel: Well, we're off to a great start here.
[3761.81] Tony: I had that same thing with when I was flying next class and I managed to
[3766.81] Tony: take my goggles off, look around to where it was and just put it down without
[3771.81] Tony: crashing.
[3773.81] Tony: Gary.
[3774.81] Tony: Yeah.
[3775.81] Tony: And it's happened when I've been quite far out before.
[3778.81] Tony: Damn.
[3779.81] Koel: Yes.
[3780.81] Koel: It's the worst thing.
[3781.81] Koel: It's funny because like rewatching those mishaps like my heart starts
[3785.81] Koel: beating just like looking at the playback.
[3787.81] Koel: I'm like, no redoing it in your head, aren't you?
[3790.81] Koel: Yeah.
[3792.81] Tony: Yeah.
[3793.81] Tony: That's what I do.
[3794.81] Tony: I'm doing set ups in my mind.
[3797.81] Tony: Just to get the man.
[3800.81] Tony: I got with the six fat.
[3802.81] Tony: Yeah.
[3803.81] Jack: Yeah.
[3804.81] Tony: Apparently it does fire off bits in your brain and your tummy.
[3809.81] Tony: I don't know.
[3810.81] Tony: Athletes do it.
[3812.81] Tony: Well, anyway,
[3814.81] Jack: you took all our lovely patrons.
[3817.81] Jack: You help keep the show going.
[3819.81] Jack: Your names are scrolling across.
[3822.81] Stephen: I like the totally finally hit some kind of BS quotient and like the
[3826.81] Stephen: alarm just tripped.
[3828.81] Stephen: Done.
[3830.81] Stephen: Finished.
[3831.81] Stephen: Thank you to our wonderful patrons.
[3833.81] Stephen: Yeah.
[3834.81] Stephen: Thank you guys and girls.
[3837.81] Jack: You've been listed to let show now.
[3840.81] Jack: It's been a blast.
[3842.81] Jack: You've been joined by Andrew Frank.
[3845.81] Jack: Hi, Steven Bell, Rick.
[3848.81] Jack: Good night.
