[283.48] Stephen: I'm not sure people could maybe a really good pilot would be able to tell back to that.

[292.48] Stephen: So you get some more advanced telemetry and stuff.
[296.48] Stephen: They tend to have current sensors that are kind of typically missing on the eight bit

[305.48] Stephen: Because the eight bit stuff was never designed to really do telemetry so they didn't put
[309.48] Stephen: current sensors on it.

[311.48] Koel: Fair enough.
[312.48] Koel: I kind of tend to piss a lot of people off.
[315.48] Koel: So when I first went from the only flight controllers I've ever had was Kiss V1 and Kiss
[322.48] Koel: Ultra V2.
[324.48] Koel: When I went from Kiss V1 to Ultra V2, there definitely is a big difference as far as features
[332.48] Koel: and hardware upgrades and all that.
[335.48] Koel: But they both flew great.
[338.48] Koel: I don't want to say is there much of a difference because there definitely is a huge difference.
[344.48] Koel: But I'm just wondering if that's a similar thing.
[347.48] Koel: Say you fly an eight bit ESC firmware versus a 32 bit versus say an old flight controller
[358.48] Koel: versus a new flight controller.
[361.48] Koel: They're going to fly.
[363.48] Koel: Can you feel it?
[364.48] Koel: Or is it more of just ones and zeros type thing?
[368.48] Stephen: I don't think you'll be able to feel it.
[371.48] Stephen: You get the update rate technically for like 1200 but no one was using that because it

[383.48] Stephen: Yeah, I've never backed off from it now because there was just no proofable benefit in trying

[454.48] Stephen: That's another thing that's always raised that the speed doesn't change that quickly
[458.48] Stephen: because you've got a bell that's made of metal and sure you get higher RPMs on some of the
[464.48] Stephen: fancy 6S5 inches but you've got more momentum in the bell as well so you can't instantly

[1553.82] Stephen: It's got its own voltage regulator that powers all these up,
[1556.82] Stephen: and you make sure that your programmer shares the ground pad.
[1559.82] Stephen: So you connect programmer's ground pad here,
[1561.82] Stephen: as well as your battery's ground,
[1563.82] Stephen: and then the programmer's clock and data go off to the chips.
[1567.82] Stephen: With ESCs like these, where they at least group them in twos,
[1571.82] Stephen: it's a double because the worst that's going to happen is you have to flip it round.
[1575.82] Stephen: And if you look really closely at these in a close-up,
[1583.3] Stephen: you can usually like actually see the traces.
[1589.3] Stephen: You see these little divots that are cut out.
[1592.3] Stephen: You can actually see the individual traces to some of these.
[1596.3] Stephen: And so you just look for the one that matches the corner chip.
[1600.3] Stephen: I think that, yeah, you can see one's clearly near the corner
[1603.3] Stephen: and the next one's a pad along, and it's like either the data
[1606.3] Stephen: or the clock line is always on the corner.
[1608.3] Stephen: So you can, even then, you've got to do it twice instead of once,
[1612.3] Stephen: but you can usually be fairly sure which one's the data and which is locked.
[1618.3] Jack: Yeah, the test ads are there for something called a bed of nails.
[1624.3] Jack: So you make the PCB, squidge onto solder paste,
[1631.3] Jack: the machine then places each component on there.
[1635.3] Jack: It goes through a reflow oven, and then it solders them on.
[1640.3] Jack: And then you take the unprogrammed ESC,
[1644.3] Jack: and you press it into a thing with pogo pins
[1649.3] Jack: and their little spring-loaded pins, and you press it onto it
[1652.3] Jack: and it flashes and tests everything all in one hit.
[1656.3] Jack: And then when that's done and it runs through some tests,
[1659.3] Jack: spits it out, and then it goes into your ESD safe container
[1665.3] Jack: and then stick a label on it and sell it.
