[197.32] Jack: And then I tried to like adjust it, weren't going anywhere, took the top plate off, took

[385.92] Curry: And it ended up being delivered, when I say delivered, put on my doorstep and it sat there

[539.58] Stephen: I thought about buying 04 briefly, then spotted the stack of walks now kit that is still at
[546.62] Stephen: the end of my desk and thought I should be planning some builds with all these walks
[550.54] Stephen: now pieces that I've got sitting around.
[553.18] Stephen: So yeah, getting some soldering irons out, making some mini quads that are hopefully
[557.78] Stephen: suited for flying places that don't need huge fields.
[563.98] Curry: I saw you guys did a 04 thing last week that I didn't get to watch, mostly because I didn't

[572.26] Curry: But the DJI thing came out as well.
[574.38] Curry: The DJI Flip, which looks a little like a Hoopsie thing that you unfold.
[580.58] Curry: What was the general discussion like on those two?
[583.58] Stephen: I'm not sure it's an aimed at us type of a quad.
[585.94] Stephen: It's more I want to take selfies, but I can't get a stick long enough to hold my phone away

[603.3] Curry: It seems weird that comes out so quickly after the what is it, the Neo?

[612.34] Stephen: The Avata is basically the 03 or 04, right, that line of VTXs and that line of sensor

[619.82] Stephen: And the smaller ones seem to be quite substantial downgrades in terms of image quality.
[625.02] Stephen: So I imagine you probably can not have a great experience with the image quality on something.
[634.26] Stephen: Is the flip a smartphone only one as well?
[636.58] Stephen: Or is I saw it had some controller compatibility, but I didn't see it.
[640.94] Curry: I watched a quick video about it and you can plug one of those controllers in, either the
[647.66] Curry: one you mount the phone on or the one that's got a tone screen.
[650.46] Curry: But it's not compatible with the goggles or the normal FPV controller.
[656.02] Curry: So you use a controller, but not goggles.

[659.9] Frank: Yeah, so the flip's got a longer flight time, slightly better camera sensor.

[678.62] Stephen: There's also been murmurings about Kaddx coming out of their own VTXs using Wi-Fi or something.
[685.78] Stephen: Not necessarily an open IBC or open HD system, but something Wi-Fi related from Kaddx has
[691.86] Stephen: appeared on the rumor mill.
[695.22] Curry: So different again to Wokx now?
[697.54] Curry: Yeah, yeah.
[698.54] Stephen: Because Wokx now isn't Wi-Fi, it's their own custom radio protocol.
[705.7] Stephen: So yeah, there's some notes on the rumor mill.
[708.58] Stephen: I don't know if any of this is coming our way, but it appears that with the original
[714.74] Stephen: kind of DJI, what are they calling it?
[718.1] Stephen: Runk time is still selling it as the link, I believe, and Kaddx was selling it as a vista.
[722.26] Stephen: And that's ancient history now.
[723.7] Stephen: I guess they're looking to kind of find something that's solidly theirs to fill out their portfolio.
[730.22] Stephen: And judging by the fact that we haven't got a revision and the actual kind of image processing
[734.9] Stephen: or anything of the Wokx now system, since the original VTX, we've got new cameras, we've
[739.5] Stephen: got diversity radios, but what we don't have is any kind of hint that the core chipset
[747.3] Stephen: can be refreshed or upgraded.
[749.22] Stephen: And they did say there was going to be some kind of swappable VRX module, but there's
[753.86] Stephen: nothing on that.
[754.86] Stephen: So I do wonder maybe they're going to go their own way.
[757.98] Stephen: And instead of trying to piggyback off the crumbs from DJI's table, maybe they're going
[762.78] Stephen: to try and invent something which could be interesting.

[767.58] Curry: I think as far as like Wokx now go, there does seem to be a major difference between
[772.78] Curry: most of their VTXs and the Moonlight.
[778.14] Curry: Whereas not so much in terms of pitch quality, but in terms of post-processing.
[783.02] Curry: So everything I've chucked into gyro flow, I've had general problems getting something
[789.42] Curry: decent out of most of them.
[790.66] Curry: But Moonlight, put that in and it's just like, boom, it's perfect.
[795.3] Curry: Everything about, I didn't need to mess around at all, I just like stabilize, it's instantly
[799.54] Curry: super smooth.
[800.54] Stephen: And you get 4K of Moonlight as well, right?

[804.46] Curry: And it's got the sensible thing of having an actual SD card slot, so you don't have to
[807.9] Curry: do those ridiculous connections there, which I thought was like, why is this so much better
[813.22] Curry: than the other VTXs?
[815.22] Stephen: But then if you look inside the Moonlight, you've got a two board solution, and it's
[819.26] Stephen: just like one board doing the DVR, and the other board is just a regular Wokx now VTX,
[825.66] Stephen: and there's a jumper cable between the two boards.
[829.74] Curry: It must be recording its gyro data differently in some way.
[833.1] Stephen: Because you know, when you flash it, you've literally got a cable that loops them together.
[837.54] Curry: Yes, although I don't do that, there's this file you can stick on so you don't have to.
[845.42] Curry: I did get something from Wokx now actually.
[848.34] Stephen: I think 4K makes a big difference because trying to gyro stabilize 1080p footage that
[853.66] Stephen: isn't from a great camera to start with doesn't leave you much in the way of useful pixels.
[858.66] Curry: No, although you think it should still, even if it cuts in, it should still get it, which

[867.62] Curry: Because these are like old, these are the sort of box goggles that are cheeksy.

[1187.9] Curry: I'm shocked, normally, of course, that you only have to like, have a building vacant
[1193.1] Curry: for like 10 minutes, and someone will bulldoze it and build a block of flats.

[1200.34] Curry: difficult cleanup here.

[1204.58] Stephen: It's quite surprising how long older petrol stations will stay put and not be turned into

[1480.14] Stephen: notch off the leading edge of the wing that was only like a centimeter or two wide.

[1494.98] Stephen: But it was a plastic quad that didn't actually take the plane down, it could have been a

[1559.7] Stephen: ban DJI because they're a foreign power, blah, blah, blah.

[1568.66] Stephen: You know, let's give all these little upstart American manufacturers a chance to sell
[1573.54] Stephen: expensive drones instead.
[1576.18] Stephen: And DJI kind of responded by we're not collecting your data, we don't care where you're
[1581.7] Stephen: going, we're not going to geofence, you just follow the laws in your country and kind of
[1587.02] Stephen: getting more hands off as a response to that.
[1593.28] Stephen: Yeah, Tony says the US has no geofencing, but the announcement was that they literally
[1600.2] Stephen: just removed it.
[1602.6] Stephen: It was on some US news articles.
[1607.47] Curry: It definitely has something because I was in the US with a DJI drone and it was in California
[1614.91] Curry: Arizona or something and it was so bright, I couldn't see my screen and the text was
[1619.39] Curry: actually telling me something about I'm in this particular flight area and I could say

[1626.51] Curry: But because I couldn't see what was happening, I'm just like, it won't work, it won't arm.

[1654.55] Stephen: updates to its geofencing system reclassifies restricted zones, aka no fly zones, as enhanced

[1662.55] Stephen: The change means that drone operators are now responsible for monitoring their aircraft
[1666.47] Stephen: to ensure they do not enroach on FAA designated flight restriction areas as opposed to the
[1671.39] Stephen: automatic GPS-derived fencing that would not allow the drone to enter restricted airspace.
[1676.51] Stephen: DJI said the changes align with similar changes implemented last year in Europe and placed
[1681.63] Stephen: control back in the hands of drone operators in line with the regulatory principles of
[1685.51] Stephen: the operator bearing final responsibility.
[1687.99] Stephen: So yeah, it looks like Tony Rong, US, does have geofencing, or DS in the recent years.

[1741.83] Jack: kind of like, actually will unlock them and let them cause all havoc because they're not
